Inside of me are two wolves.
One really loves the way the fandom moniker "Kabru of Utaya" sounds and how it gives Kabru the dignity of a full name, and how it connects him to his past.
The other knows that "[x] of [location]" is canonically the dwarven cultural naming practice and thus Kabru would never go by it in canon.
#THIS BOTHERS ME SO MUCH....#Kabru#babe. we have GOT to get you a last name.#this is such a potentially painful subject to think about especially postcanon#he's got like ... an official role in government. does he have to sign documents? be announced in court?#like “[x] of [location]” is such a common western fantasy trope and also existed in real life#so naturally we as fans just kind of fill it in ... but Kui had to decide that dwarves do that specifically#so I know that in-universe it would be off the table. like a white person taking a Japanese name or something.#especially when. again. you are a royal advisor. real political blunder territory.#I need to explore this in a fic for real#Dungeon Meshi#posting for one as usual

The catalyst
Recovered Black Mesa documents from the experiment, #2 of ____
(Pg. 1)
Stage Two: Resonance Cascade Simulation (RCS)
Section 2: Resonance Cascade Simulation
The Resonance Cascade Simulation (RCS) is a revolutionary advancement in Black Mesa’s incident prevention/preparation technology, where a replica of multiple wings of Black Mesa’s main facility were constructed to give the appearance of the real facility. Here is where the rest of the test will take place, as soon as the simulated Resonance Cascade Catalyst is complete. We hope that this experiment will prepare us in case of a real Resonance Cascade event, and thus can potentially prevent one entirely.
Dr. Freeman is to be put in the RCS as soon as the Catalyst is complete and he is sufficiently unconscious. It is crucial to place him under anesthesia to not cause alarm as he is moved from the real Black Mesa Facility into the replica. (REMINDER: it is of UTMOST IMPORTANCE that Freeman is to be unaware of the test taking place, as to make this simulation as accurate as possible. Failure to comply with this rule will result in career termination.) It is to be noted that despite the simulated AMS failure being in a controlled environment, there is room for error and potentially even injury in the case of Dr. Freeman being within the chamber as it happens. However we believe the HEV suit will be enough to protect him throughout the process.
To make the RCS even more realistic, we have contained multiple species from multiple expeditions to [CENSORED TEXT] within the testing facility. Though it is to be noted that certain species remain too great of a liability to keep within the same facility as the subject. We hope these specimens will help make the cross-dimensional-travel of anomalies more predictable in the case of a real Resonance Cascade event happening, and more importantly, teaching us how to deal with, and/or dispose of these specimens.
Notes: Freeman is a smart man. Hiding the true nature of this test is for his own good.
Conclusion of section:
Power AMS to 105% to begin simulated AMS failure scenario
Begin RCS
(Pg. 2)
INCIDENT LOG: #40
TIME OF INCIDENT: 10:24 AM, December 13th, 1998
CAUSE OF INCIDENT: Technical Malfunction
PERSON(S) INVOLVED IN INCIDENT: Gordon Freeman
INCIDENT TYPE: Workplace Injury/death
DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT:
At approximately 10:24 AM MST, a malfunction occurred involving the Anti Mass Spectrometer, where a stray beam struck Dr. Gordon Freeman between the lower Thoracic and Lumbar sections of his spinal cord. Due to this area being primarily the HEV’s visible undersuit rather than an armored section, it proved to not be enough to withstand the entirety of the shock. Freeman Suffered near instantaneous lower body paralysis, along with heart failure. Freeman also underwent convulsions, restricting his ability to remove himself from the situation. When the AMS had reached a state of stabilization, allowing personnel to enter the chamber, they found Freeman unresponsive aside from minor erratic muscle spasms. They found that his lower back was severely damaged, along with the HEV undersuit.
Damage to the HEV suit was minimal, though holes caused by the shock needed to be repaired. The protective cover over the Life Support Module was damaged, and unable to be reattached. However, the Life Support Module is still intact and functioning as expected.
Freeman appears to be healing despite tremendous damage. The HEV suit took most of the hit, allowing Freeman to heal relatively without problem. Due to the HEV’s extraordinary biomatter repair technology, Freeman’s heartbeat has returned, along with stable brain activity and nervous system control, meaning he is no longer paralyzed. (It is to be noted that he awoke during examination, but was quickly put under anesthesia to prevent further pain, any potential alterations to the test results, and any further mental strain from the resurrection.)
Planned initial Termination was going to be three (3) hours after the RCS had begun, however due to this horrible oversight from the engineers in the Lambda team, the first test had taken place prematurely. However, Freeman appears to have healed completely from this incident. This is promising.
FOLLOW UP ACTION(S):
Monitor possible HEV malfunctions
Monitor Freeman’s physical health and recovery from this incident
Resume test as initially planned without further delay.

need to assemble a high council of saltburn scholars who get together for a saltburn watch thru where we pause after every scene and discuss plot & production details that we’ve picked up thru our scholarship so that we can take notes and combine all of our knowledge. it would take like four hours but it would be so beautiful.
#is this like. an insane concept. you can be real with me.#im such a bitch for taking notes and having things physically archived#and i love huge notebooks and documents that dont leave out a single detail about a subject#sry but its soooo sexy to me to know every single thing

I just listened to episode 26 of the Magnus Archives and I realized that it reminds me of Bloodborne. I have some spoilers for it, just because I was looking something up on the wiki and just intuited things based on some of the pages.
So it seems like there are some entities that are responsible for these events, a finite amount named with things associated with various fears. But episode 26 implies that these entities aren't uniform and aren't even aligned, which distinctly reminds me of Bloodborne. The way the Great Old Ones seem to each be distinct and non uniform and some seem to be fighting a proxy war against one another. Like The Moon Presence puts the player on a path that leads them to kill Rom and other great ones.
#tma podcast#tma spoilers#still enjoying it#spooky and good shit#i dont remember the names of characters like at all though#like whos jane prentis?#i dunno#didnt realize that the priest was in an earlier episode until way later#also i feel upset that jons not including the tags for the document in his recordings#like how are you filing them?#is it date based?#subject based?#by person?#are you linking associated files properly?#like come on i wanna know this stuff

Would you be willing to talk about the idea of 'psychopaths in real life'? I know you've written them but because there's so much messy pop culture around the idea of a psychopath I've never been sure of what about the idea of them is real. Are some people simply born wanting to hurt people? Or is it the result of early major trauma, or innate? I've met a lot of very cruel people but I think I'd say they probably weren't like that with select groups of people (their friends or family) rather than people they viewed as targets/unimportant/sinners/etc... Probably? I suppose I think of them more as emotionally sadistic than as fundamentally incapable of empathy. But maybe I just haven't met the right people, or known them well enough. Just an invitation to share your thoughts on the subject, if you're willing.
Are some people simply born wanting to hurt people? Or is it the result of early major trauma, or innate?
If you had an answer to this, anon, you'd have an answer to one of the greatest mysteries of psychology and sociology. The truth is, we just don't know for sure. There's a lot of good evidence on both sides, depending on who you're studying, which strongly suggests that sometimes it might be the first, sometimes it might be the second, and sometimes it's both.
But the reality is we don't know.
Scientists really, really want to find ways of detecting folks like this before some of them turn to extremely violent or cruel crimes, so obviously finding out the causative genetic and/or social factors is extremely important to them. It would save a lot of money re: governments for a start, so this is an area that's had bursts of funding over the years. But the reality is we're not really a great deal closer to figuring it out.
We do know that some folks genuinely seem to have had no social causative factors, and others folks genuinely seem to have been shaped by their upbringing. If you want to go into this there are hundreds of books and articles on the subject, and you'll very quickly see that no one is in agreement and we still have no solid early detection systems.
I've met a lot of very cruel people but I think I'd say they probably weren't like that with select groups of people (their friends or family) rather than people they viewed as targets/unimportant/sinners/etc… Probably?
The fact is, unless you were with them 24/7 you don't know how they were behaving with friends and family. In fact, this is how certain priests and cops get away with so much of what they do. There are priests who have been kind and compassionate to entire congregations and then gone on to rape 30/40 children in cruel ways that have led to many suicides, who feel zero shame or remorse and who very obviously just wanted access to children in a job that would give them community trust without having to earn it. That kindness and compassion is a performance to secure what you want.
Secondly, perhaps they were good with friends and family, so was Gacy. Many folks like this understand that they need to strategically set up networks of people who believe you to be kind etc. Being a psychopath doesn't mean you're stupid (although some are, varying intelligence levels exist), often these folks understand that to get away with doing what they truly want to do, there needs to be a cloak of 'I'm fine and normal and nice' around them. The ones who don't understand this tend to go to jail very quickly (or die very quickly due to the circumstances around their behaviours - being a psychopath is not a safe thing to be if you can't pair it with an ability to be selective).
But maybe I just haven't met the right people, or known them well enough.
I'm not going to talk about specific details of my past but I will say it's likely that you just haven't met someone on this level and/or have but are just not in their target zone because they might just be in the periphery of your experience.
Folks like Crielle exist in the world, for example, and sadly it's often more people than you'd expect. But some of those people are also incredibly intelligent and manipulative. They often operate on a level different to most of us.
#asks and answers#personal#psychopaths aren't people who are cruel to everyone all the time for no reason#they're often smart enough to know that *other* people believe in right and wrong#and to know that they won't be able to do what they want#if other people catch them doing what they're doing#setting up a smoke screen is incredibly important and#there's documentation that demonstrates these people become good at manipulation#in childhood#but yeah if we had the answers to your first questions anon#the world would probably be a safer place#you're getting into pockets of psychology and criminology that include#some of the most frustrated researchers lol#i highly recommend actually doing some reading on the subject#because this is really just the tip of the iceberg

17. What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?
WEIRDLY SPECIFIC BUT HELPFUL CHARACTER BUILDING QUESTIONS
The first thing that Sephiroth notices about himself in the mirror would be his eyes. Obviously they do tend to stand out to everyone that sees them, but to Sephiroth they serve to only emphasize how different he truly is to everyone else. No one else possesses the same eyes that Sephiroth has and he's fully aware of it, along with the fact that the only thing remotely close are those possessed by monsters. Needless to say, this didn't help Sephiroth's fears that he was a monster whenever he stumbled upon the documentation about the Jenova Project in Nibelheim.
What other people tend to notice about Sephiroth when first looking at him usually is his height or his long silver hair. In a crowd of people Sephiroth stands out due to how he generally towers over everyone else in the room, and how his hair is so long and flows like silk and never seems to be dirty or out of place.

something I've noted down tonight that might be helpful for others who are into exploring more with overstim kink with a partner:
from the side of the dom, please pay very close attention to the body language of your sub. since this particular kink pushes the boundaries of what might be considered too much, it's important to recognize the signs of it becoming legitimately too much and needing a safe word. it will be a lot more fun for both of you if you can learn where that limit is without needing to use the safe word at all by recognizing the cues leading up to it potentially being used. and if your sub can see that they can trust you to recognize those signs before they need to go so far as safe word, you can play more with how much you push those boundaries! knowing when to back off is just as important as knowing when to keep going. using the color system can be helpful as well for checking in, and I need to remember to be using that more often.
from my memories on the side of the sub, it can be helpful to communicate what those cues might even be to your dom if they're having trouble figuring it out for themselves. not everyone is very attuned to body language, and might need a couple of hints of what to look for. and don't be afraid to safe word! the color system works so well because yellow won't end the scene, just slow things down, but if you truly need to stop, communicating that is extremely important. I like to add on another separate emergency safe word with the colors just in case.
remember, doing things safely means you can do them more often!
#personal thoughts#records for my research#I don't care if this information isn't anything new#part of me writing all of this down at all is to document the experience#so I can learn both from mistakes and from what I did right#I'm still learning as I go#there's a reason I call you test subjects and not just subjects#overstim

Recovered Black Mesa Documents from the incident, #1 of ____
(Text on the pages below in case it’s hard to read)
(Pg. 1)
[CENSORED TITLE]
Project Codename: Free Man
Subject: Gordon Freeman
Sector: Anomalous Materials Department
Age: 27
Clearance: Level 3
Physical Description: Six Foot four inches (193.04 cm) Tall caucasian male, brown hair, green eyes.
Current status: Alive; No abnormalities.
Project Administrator: [CENSORED NAME]
Purpose of the experiment: testing revival and healing technology; Preparing for the possible event of a Resonance Cascade.
Time of test: Scheduled for December 13th, 1998 at 9:30 AM MST
Planned duration of test: 3 days (72 hours)
Current Status: Preparations complete. Awaiting subject arrival.
This test is the Second human test of our new revolutionary Life Support System, which is capable of both healing typically fatal wounds, and even bringing back an individual from the dead. This technology has caused multiple unforeseen side effects on its users, however with advancements made by Black Mesa engineers and the Lambda Team, we believe this test will prove that the technology will be in a suitable enough state to be used without consequences.
We have been approached regarding this technology from [CENSORED TEXT], which means that our new sponsors will be able to help develop this technology further and even fund future research. This new Sponsorship, the possibility of preventing death in Black Mesa staff during highly dangerous expeditions, Along with possible commercial use in the coming years, are more reasons for this test to be taken seriously, and more importantly, be done correctly and quickly. The following documents will be the results of every test, and there will be logs of all injuries and even deaths our subject will experience, and more importantly how the Hazardous Environment Suit will repair said injuries.
(Pg. 2)
Section 1: HEV Suit Integration
The Hazardous Environment Suit (HEV) Mk. 5 is a vast improvement from the standard HEV suit Mk. 4, with its main difference and technological improvement being the HEV Life Support system. Unlike the Mk. 4, this Life support system contains a specimen known as [CENSORED TEXT] from our latest expedition to [CENSORED TEXT]. This Specimen has properties that are known to heal even life threatening wounds, and thus has the potential of even bringing an individual back from the dead. This has proven true with previous testing, though it is to be noted that the HEV suit Mk. 5 is the best, and most promising version of this technology put to use as of current date. However, Dr. Freeman is to be noted as the first test done with this suit to test its revival capabilities.
-Dr. Freeman had received the HEV Mk. 5 at approximately 10:00 AM MST on December 13th. Due to a small hold up, being worsened by a single security personnel delaying Freeman’s arrival, Freeman had arrived at the testing facility around 30 minutes past schedule. However, despite this small change in schedule, Gordon had accepted the HEV suit without suspicion, even despite not being told of the Suit’s properties, including the slight painful sensations of the suit attaching IV tubing and blood monitors to Freeman’s skin. Freeman seemed to move on quickly however, and proceeded to the test chamber containing the Anti Mass Spectrometer (AMS), beginning the first test at around 10:16 AM MST.
Notes:
Freeman appears to have had no problems resulting from the HEV suit’s integration, not even during the suit’s Life Support startup. This is promising, considering the negative effects the technology had on previous subjects. (See Incident log #32; Subject Shephard)
Conclusion of section:
-Despite Freeman remaining unaware of the test, it is best to inform any and all staff participating in said test to not disclose any information that Freeman does not need or could affect the results.
-Continue to Stage Two: Resonance Cascade Simulation (RCS)

His eyes fairly glittered as he spoke, and he put his hand over his heart and bowed as if to some applauding crowd conjured up by his imagination.
"You are to be congratulated," I remarked, considerably surprised at his enthusiasm.
A Study in Scarlet
His manner was not effusive. It seldom was; but he was glad, I think, to see me. With hardly a word spoken, but with a kindly eye, he waved me to an armchair, threw across his case of cigars, and indicated a spirit case and a gasogene in the corner. Then he stood before the fire and looked me over in his singular introspective fashion.
"A Scandal in Bohemia"
It was midday when we found ourselves at the scene of the tragedy, and, under my companion's guidance, we made our way at once to Hudson Street. In spite of his capacity for concealing his emotions, I could easily see that Holmes was in a state of suppressed excitement, while I was myself tingling with that half-sporting, half-intellectual pleasure which I invariably experienced when I associated myself with him in his investigations.
"The Crooked Man"
Holmes listened with polite attention, but I, who knew him so well, could clearly see that his thoughts were elsewhere, and I detected a mixture of mingled uneasiness and expectation beneath that mask which he was wont to assume. At last he started in his chair, and his eyes brightened.
"The Six Napoleons"
“Thank you!” said Holmes. “Thank you!” and as he turned away, it seemed to me that he was more nearly moved by the softer human emotions than I had ever seen him. A moment later he was the cold and practical thinker once more.
"The Six Napoleons"
It was worth a wound—it was worth many wounds—to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask. The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking.
"The Three Garridebs"
current state is that girls when meme with the biting and the carnage except like -> 🧍♂️
#me when i didn't include anything about reduced affect display in my very long & thorough document because i didn't think it applied to me#and then i finally brought up the subject with my mom and yes it does. very much. and always has.#ah...............#i feel so much and i thought i showed it.......#anyway i love him.............

Hi. Op of the college post. I wanted to extend my apology for your friend's death (i actually made the post in memory of a friend who also died) and to ask what major you were in? An essay on hauntology sounds intriguing, id be curious to know more. Well, sorry if this is random and sudden, your tags just jumped out to me in the notifications as the most interesting thing someone left on that post. I hope you have a lovely day!
thank you for your thoughts. i want to extend the same to you, i feel losing a friend so young at such an already tumultuous time in your life is one of the most difficult things to go through, but we did it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
i studied english literature at uni. the class i wrote the essay on was contemporary world literature and the prompt was 'discuss the importance of grief or loss in contemp world lit and I chose the books Autumn by Ali Smith and Alfred and Emily by Doris Lessing (which if you haven't read already id really recommend). i think the conclusion sums up what my thesis was better than i can now 2 years after writing it
In conclusion, grief and loss within these texts are tied to nostalgia, of either objects, memory, or people. However, this grief disrupts the memory and the linear narrative, and as such time bleeds into eachother. Events from the past cannot be remembered without knowing what is to come, whereas idealisations of the future must be rooted in something from history, the consequence of which is that ‘the futuristic now connoted a settled set of concepts, affects, and associations.’ (Fisher, 2012, p.16). Difficulties arise however when these concepts and associations are established in a history of violence and loss. This exchange expresses the continuous feeling of grief, as characters are repeatedly acknowledging and ‘burying’ what ‘haunts’ them while unable to live in a future without what they have already buried. Evidently, like a leaf ‘so stuck that when it eventually peels away, it's leafshape left behind, shadow of the leaf, will last on the pavement till next spring.’ (Smith p. 259) Contemporary World Literature must constantly acknowledge the past and present while looking to the future, forcing all three to exist concurrently.
dont worry about it being random, i made the joke that the post was made in a lab for me when its actually two people coincidentally relating over similar life experiences. i hope you have a lovely day also :))))
#also rereading this i dont think it's that good but whaever thats in y past now. got the grade :D#avds.got.mail#mihai-florescu#wishing you the best i dont know how long ago your friend passed but ik grief comes in waves and tumblr posts about grief is one of the#documented phases#i think if theres any subject in the world to study around the same time someone passes to work through your feelings of grief#literature is probably the best and most perfect one.#i got to write essays and short stories and poems about grief and have them be cathartic AND for a grade#curious as to what did you majored in if you were haunted by timeloops#my final dissertation was also on grief. i did that on never let me go by kazuo ishiguro and home fire by#kamila shamsie if youre in the market for more book recs
