It seems appropriate to update the party system as Haseo grows more akin to working within a party instead of being a lone wolf. That includes the morale system. Not only is the duration starting to lengthen but you no longer have to wait for it to fill up to use it, you can use it pretty much whenever but the longer you wait, the longer it'll last. New weapon too, you're pretty much where you were when you were the Terror of Death which is really saying something. You can even switch weapons in battle albeit it's through the menu or special. But having a good relationship via email with your party helps because it unlocks new attacks. Because of these improvements, the gameplay is slowly shaping up to be really enjoyable at times. I did actually manage to crash it from button mashing though…
The Versus card game is open now which means you can collect cards to play in the form of some really cool art. Same with the forum which you can in turn make your wallpaper in the desktop (which was a feature from IMOQ but done in a different way). The bike turns out that it was bland on purpose last time so they added an upgrade system where you can buy parts and mix and match to make it run how YOU want (really you just buy the best parts but it markets as how you want).
So now we're properly into spoiler territory and with that we're properly into SAO now with the players being stuck within the game. You can no longer head to the desktop to check your email. And with that, Atoli can't speak, can only send mail. But here's where it gets tricky because that's not the game's plot, in fact, the whole scenario is over pretty early, it just introduces that possibility and what it could possibly mean as well as the consequences it created.
It started becoming clear to me how much of a reinvention/reimagining GU really is to IMOQ because it's using a lot of the same elements just differently, like the Data cores (instead of virus cores). Donald Duck even returns!
wait... But as far as structure, it also takes after the first volume taking place with a tournament…again. Nowhere near as long though. But just know that once you've set your difficulty, you've done it for all the vols so…yeah.
The side-quests aren't nearly as meaningful but I'd have to say that the overall story jumped to being pretty good, there are some lines in there where I was very well shocked at how impactful they were. The only real complaint I have about it is the villains and I got spoiled about them but the way it's done (so far) is pretty cheesy, but I imagine it will be expanded upon and will actually make sense later. But yeah, this makes the first .hack that I actually properly enjoyed, thoroughly and genuinely, there was always bits and pieces but this one finally seemed worth it.

[.hack//G.U. Vol 2//Reminisce ✅] More at my blog blisscast.wordpress.com, and www.vintagepeople.it, links in bio! 🆕 Journal Page 34 about .hack//G.U. Vol 2//Reminisce is out NOW! Link in bio. Disponibile anche in italiano 🇮🇹. . .hack//G.U. Vol 2//Reminisce is an MMORPG-like action game, and the direct sequel to the first Volume, Rebirth. Without spoiling anything from the first title, just after the ending of Volume 1, the plot takes an unexpected turn; the characters get suddenly stuck inside the MMO because of a certain group of hackers, and can’t log out in any way. And if being stuck inside a game that can put you into a coma wasn’t scary enough, more mysterious characters appear in The World R:2, and seem to have the same powers Tri-Edge has! Plus, known characters suddenly get infected by the same hackers who trapped the protagonists in the game, making them crazy and able to gain that extremely harmful ability as well! Not being able to trust anyone, poor Haseo, who had just learned how to make friends, will have to get to the roots of the problem, and maybe he’ll get closer to the truth about Tri-Edge… always if he doesn’t get killed first. 🙂 . I was having a look at Japan-related Instagram reels with my mum, and there was one about this Golden Gai district in Shinjuku, with many cafes and small restaurants where they set a famous tv series. I kept thinking "I know those streets, I know those streets!". So I googled the place, and it's exactly what I thought it was! See, I'm a huge Yakuza fan, and the city they're mostly set in, Kamurocho, is basically a reconstruction of the irl Kabukicho district in Shinjuku, and that Golden Gai is the Champion District ✨. I'd really love to go to Kabukicho one day, it would be so hilarious to just recognize places like that! . #dothack #dothackgu #dothackanime #dothacklink #dothacksign #dothackgulastrecode #cyberconnect2 #bandainamco #mmorpg #ps2 #playstation2 #jrpg #haseo #azurekite #gamergirl #gamergirls #llamasoft https://www.instagram.com/p/CnXoufZIqDo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

My Sources of Inspiration - Part 2
This is an assignment for The Plotting Workshop. It’s free and super fun. Follow the link to know more! ♫
ASSIGNMENT THREE
Tap Into Your Inspiration
Today, I want you to make a list of at least ten stories (books, movies, even television shows) that inspire you. You can also list characters or tropes or places. Whatever inspires you. They don't have to relate directly to the story you want to write, but you should keep that story in mind as you do this exercise.
Part 1 was a list of some of the authors that influenced me the most both as reader and writer. This post will delve into more specific sources of inspiration for the project I will be working on during the workshop. I have already written down a list of the major inspirational sources for this project on paper and it’s very chaotic and I will probably not use all of them. There are two major sources that are crucial to this writing project. These sources are two multimedia franchises that span over light novels, manga, anime and videogames.
One is the .hack (dot-hack) franchise, a Japanese multimedia franchise that encompasses two projects: Project .hack and .hack Conglomerate. Project .hack was the first project of the .hack series. It launched in 2002 with the anime series .hack//Sign in April 2002 and the PlayStation 2 game .hack//Infection in June 2002, followed by other 3 games: .hack//Mutation, .hack//Outbreak and .hack//Quarantine. There were also 4 OVAs released together with the games, by the collective title of .hack//Liminality. Each episode was released with its corresponding game. Under Project .hack were also released a series of novels and a spin-off manga, but I never got around to reading them. .hack Conglomerate is the second project of .hack. It encompasses a series of three PlayStation 2 games called .hack//G.U., an anime series called .hack//Roots, novels, and manga. .hack//G.U. is a series of three video games, Vol. 1 Rebirth, Vol. 2 Reminisce, and Vol. 3 Redemption. The companion anime was .hack//Roots, a prequel to the game. I didn’t read the novels, but I read two of the manga series: .hack//G.U.+, a manga adaptation of the three .hack//G.U. games and .hack//XXXX, an adaptation of the four original .hack games.
The .hack games are set in an alternate timeline of Earth, in the year 2010. After a computer virus called "Pluto's Kiss" crashes nearly every computer in the world, access to the Internet is closed to the general public to address security concerns. After two years without the Internet and online games, an MMORPG called The World is released and it becomes the most popular online game of all time. Shortly before the events portrayed in the .hack games, a number of users become comatose as a result of playing The World. The World was developed by a German programmer named Harald Hoerwick, whose hidden purpose is to develop the ultimate artificial intelligence which is capable of making decisions for itself. To this end, Hoerwick inserted functions into the system which monitor and extract behavioral data from millions of the game's players to aid in the AI's learning process. The AI goes awry and becomes responsible for holding the comatose players captives.
The .hack//G.U. games take place in an alternate version of Earth in the year 2017. As depicted in the first .hack game series, the "2nd Network Crisis" was an incident that occurred seven years ago in which many computer systems across Japan malfunctioned. The incident resulted in the birth of Aura, the ultimate artificial intelligence, capable of making decisions for itself. In late 2014, Aura disappears, resulting in the slow decay of The World and the Internet as a whole. In response, the company that administrates The World, CC Corp, sets up "Project G.U." and tasks them with remedying the problem. They come up with the "Restore Aura (RA) Plan", in which they attempt to retrieve the fragments of Morganna—an AI that served as Aura's "mother"—and seal them into player characters (PCs) of The World. In theory, this would allow the Project G.U. programmers to manipulate the Morganna program to recreate Aura. Only certain "chosen" players could control these special "Epitaph PCs”. But things don’t go smoothly this time around either and AIDA enters the scene, a mysterious computer anomaly that infects the characters and renders them comatose.
The second source of inspiration, which is similar in scope and themes to the .hack franchise, but it’s based on different premises, is Sword Art Online.
Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. The series takes place in the near future and focuses on protagonist Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya and Asuna Yuuki as they play through various virtual reality MMORPG worlds. The light novels began publication on April 10, 2009, with a spin-off series launching in October 2012. The series has spawned eight manga adaptations. Both SAO and its spin-offs are ongoing series. An anime television series produced by A-1 Pictures, by the title Sword Art Online, aired in Japan between July and December 2012, with television film Sword Art Online: Extra Edition airing on December 31, 2013, and a second season, titled Sword Art Online II, airing between July and December 2014. An animated film titled Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale featuring an original story by Kawahara premiered in Japan and Southeast Asia on February 18, 2017, and was released in the United States on March 9, 2017. A spin-off anime series titled Sword Art Online Alternative Gun Gale Online premiered in April 2018, while a third season titled Sword Art Online: Alicization will premiere in October 2018. Four video games based on the series have been released for multiple consoles.
What both .hack and Sword Art Online have in common is the theme of players being stranded in a game and rendered comatose in the real world. Still, while the .hack series blames everything on AIs gone awry, SAO takes human action into account. In SAO, it’s not an AI that holds the players captive, but the very same developer who created the technology (NerveGear) and the game (Sword Art Online) — Akihiko Kayaba.
The idea of writing a cyberpunk-ish novel set in a world where people are held captive inside a simulated (gamelike?) world has first bloomed back at the time when I was playing the .hack games and stayed with me ever since. When SAO came out, it rekindled the flames. I actually tried twice to write a novel stemming from this idea, but both times I hit a roadblock. So for this Plotting Workshop, I thought I’d replot the entire thing and see if I can get a viable story idea out of it.
While .hack and SAO are two main sources of inspiration for this project, they are not the only ones. I will make a quick list of the other sources in Part 3.
Stay tuned! ♪

Art selection from the 2017 HD collection of the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC game developed by CyberConnect2 and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment:
.hack//G.U. Last Recode / .hack // G.U。最後のレコーディング
Art is believed to be by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto
This collection is a dream come true for .hack fans as it sees all three PlayStation 2 RPG games in the .hack//G.U. series Vol. 1 Rebirth, Vol. 2 Reminisce, and Vol. 3 Redemption all combined into one. It also includes the bonus content seen in the Terminal Disc and has a brand new Vol. 4 Reconnection. For European gamers this is the first time the .hack//G.U. series has been released in Europe.
Europe only got the four PlayStation 2 games in the original .hack series and it will be interesting to see if they also get a HD update in the future. It seems odd .hack//G.U. got the HD treatment first but no doubt CyberConnect2 have their reasons .

Is it possible for a video game to have filler? Because tbh, both the arena matches and the quests with Silabus, Gaspard, and Alkaid feel like filler.
