META + family (Evan)
Oooof
so…Evan's whole "family" situation is a complicated matter. when his parents were alive, he never really had a good relationship with them… and, as an adult, he wishes they would've died sooner. At best, they acknowledged him in some way and made sure that he wasn't skipping school and getting trouble ( and on the off chance he was doing all that, they were very present for that ). At worst, they full-on neglected him and he was often left to his own devices. they were never physically abusive to him — never laid a hand on him. however, they were the type of parents that obviously did not wish to be parents. they didn't wish to be married either so… it's anyone's guess why they went through with having Evan and getting married afterwards.
Taking care of Evan — truly taking care of him — was near the bottom on the list of priorities that they had after he reached… 6 or 7 years old. and so, Evan was a lot more independent than others his age. He was still immature in many ways but he kinda… had to take care of himself or learn how to do that when he didn't know how.
going to the issues each parent had would take too long and I'm already planning a lengthy headcanon post about Evan's childhood that includes a more concrete timeline but i will say that Evan does have family that he does care for. I feel like a bit of a broken record in some regard with how much I mention or allude to Roderick and his now deceased wife being like… the positive influence in Evan's life. however, much of Evan's formative years were spent solely with his parents and he didn't properly meet Roderick and Magdelena until he was already 9 years old. Even then, Roderick and his older brother ( Evan's father ) began butting heads a little bit about how Evan was being raised, how he clearly was just left to do what he wanted when he wanted, and a bunch of other personal things that bubbled up as a result of those arguments. So Evan didn't see his Uncle as often as he would've liked ( and didn't get to stay over too often either, despite them living so close and in a better neighborhood comparatively ). Roderick also missed out on many crucial parts of Evan's life until he started pushing to be a more active part of it a couple years later.
what followed after this tug-of-war between the two brothers was his father's death… and then his mother's. He had a little high point being adopted by Roderick + Magdelena ( though this was already when he was 16-17 years old ) but it plunged into another low point when Magdalena succumbed to her illness. So it was just him and Roderick — who, to his credit, tried exceedingly hard to give Evan whatever support he could've asked for. However, at that point, Evan had spent so long being independent and just… doing his own thing, that he didn't really lean on Roderick too much emotionally. He was, and still is, very grateful for Roderick stepping up where his father didn't but… to this day, Evan doesn't see Roderick as a "father" in any light. That's what he is but Evan associates the word father with his physically present but deadbeat parent so strongly that he can't separate the two. He's perfectly content with Roderick remaining his Uncle because ascribing a "father" status to Roderick would kinda… group the man in with someone who didn't care about him, didn't care if he was safe, didn't care if he was truly healthy, and only cared about "school" so long as he didn't get calls about Evan skipping or causing trouble. the same could be said about his mom and Magdelena, in that she is his Aunt and not his mother for the same reasons.
He has a lot of love for his Aunt and Uncle but absolutely none for his Mother and Father. And that's how it'll always because he's glad the latter two are dead.

She grew up in Georgia and has a slight southern accent. They were in London long enough for both of her older siblings to attend Hogwarts and also be sorted into Slytherin but Jess didn't have magic yet. Her brother is 9 years older than she is and her sister is 7 years older than her. They eventually were transferred BACK to the USA where Jessica continued to grow up and attend Ilvermorny for only a couple of months before they were ultimately transferred BACK AGAIN to London where she started 5th year at Hogwarts, which was her very first year of having magic (she's a late bloomer) *Hints* opening game where she doesn't have a wand of her own, and is incredibly surprised by the amount of magic she sees at Hogwarts where she obviously meets Sebastian and Ominis who become her (truely real) best friends.
Usually found: in the undercroft learning how to play gobstones with the 2 Slytherin boys, sneaking into the kitchens after hours cuz she internal chonk, sneaking into the restricted section with Sebastian, in the front garden at the summoners court or in the clock tower participating in crossed wands. Sometimes in Feldcroft with Ominis taking care of Sebastian after his uncle dies suddenly and mysteriously 👀 (Sebastian technically owns the property after that)
Future career: Ancient Artifact Collector, (claims ownership of Borgin and Burkes later on) and Healer of sorts.

Depression makes a man do stupid things and here is what I did. Peter Lorre tier list, all movies (well the ones that were available online and in a language I could understand), all characters ranked in a highly scientific way. Feel free to defend your blorbos, but know this I’m right, you’re wrong, SHUDDUP!! (This is a reference I hope y’all get, but in any case do feel free to defend your blorbos I wanna hear y’alls takes.)
My reasonings under the cut. Enter, but be warned it truly is my twisted sick mind down there. If you scroll down long enough to see the Shining reference, I love you.
Bildreporter Johnny (F.P.1 antwortet nicht): No, no, no, no, no, no! Highly unfuckable look! Why does he look like an old man and a baby at the same time??? I can’t do this!!
Mr. Kentaro Moto (Mr. Moto Series): Racism. I’m sorry, I can’t. Absolutely hate it. Shit tier. Same goes with the movies. I only really liked Mr. Moto’s Gamble, which I found out was actually a Charlie Chan script asdfghjkl
Stephen Danel (Island of Doomed Men): Slave owner. Killed a monkey. Was kind of okay with his wife tho, until the end, I guess they needed a reason to off him.
Roderick Raskolnikov (Crime and Punishment): I’m putting him down on the list, because I read Crime and Punishment and the movie is way too ‘Murican. Already the names were bastardized and as someone who loves Russian literature I just can’t deal with that shit. He was okay, but ehhh… (The 1970 movie is way better, and Taratorkin is the best Rashkolnikov, fucking fight me.)
Nikolai Zaleshoff (Background to Danger): Again, butchering Russian names. Not even a patronymic. Kind of a caricature as well with all of the vodka drinking. And again he gets shot and for what??
Sergeant Berger (The Cross of Lorraine): I’m stronger. I will resist. The scene where he blows the cigarette smoke into the guy’s face and kicks him does things to me. I will admit. But that man is a nazi and I cannot in good consciousness put him anywhere else, but shit tier.
Captain Chang (They Met in Bombay): Glark Cable tolerable?? In my movie?? More likely than you think. Did not like the racism again. The beard is nice, so he goes slightly higher than shit tier.
Baron Ikito (Invisible Agent): He gets put in a slightly higher tier than shit tier only, because of the last line in the movie that made me very very gay. “I can make an honorable man out of you” like you can’t make him say shit like that I’m already a weak little homosexual!!
Hilary Cummins (The Beast With Five Fingers): This may be a surprise, but listen, hear me out, I have reasons. I cannot deal with an Astrology bitch. Like, yeah I also like to read my horrorscope every now and then, and I’m a Satanist, but I don’t vibe with that shit, he is too obsessed. Not every gay is gonna be into Asstrology. Also I cannot moan the name Hilary while giving this man dick without thinking of the Clinton woman. Also Cummins??? That’s an OnlyEnemies name. PS. The movie was bad when the hand turned out to be fake.
Julius O’Hara (Beat The Devil): Oh, no I’m not vibing with the hair again. I’m not into it. Loved his bullshitting, even if he is not very good at lying.
Conseil (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea): Liked seeing him together with my rich successful uncle Lukács, and had some nice fits in the movie, but it’s only slightly above shit tier. Saw tentacles, but got nothing. Absolutely disappointed.
Ahmed (Five Weeks in a Balloon): Racism again. Love his rainbow colored pants. The fez does nothing for me. Because of the earring he gets put higher than shit tier.
Pawlitschek (Bomben Auf Monte Carlo): He’s cute. He knows how to cook. Its fucking goulash of course, but ugggh fine I’ll eat it. Look I love you I’ll eat it. Fucking tourist food that no self-respecting Hungarian is going to touch. It’s just fucking soup.
Otto Fuesslli (What Women Dream Of): He is adorable. Clearly faking that piano play, but he sings like an angle. Docking points for being a cop tho. I’m sorry, but in this house we ain’t fucking cops.
Maj. Sigfried Gruning (Lancer Spy): Okay, I’m conflicted. Not sold on the hair, or the mustache, but I’m a military man, I love a uniform, he has a sword. (Babygirl you wanna see my sword~?) Uhhh… he also doesn’t do much in the movie.
Louis ‘The Dope’ Monteau (I’ll Give a Million): Adowable. A dumb baby. And that is why he only gets put in mid tier. Too cute for my taste. Still good for him and all the other poor homeless guys for pulling off the scam of the century on the rich bastards. Respect.
Polo (I Was An Adventuress): Same problem with Louis. He has too much boi energy. Every time I see that image where he looks up with them big ol’ eyes all I can think about is that meme the “Bitch use your words I don’t speak bottom”.
The Stranger (The Stranger on The Third Floor): Okay… uhm… this is a though one… There’s not much info on The Stranger, we don’t even know his name, we only know that he is mentally ill and killed a man. We all have our faults. I mean in this day and age who isn’t mentally ill and killed at least one person. So… mid tier. Like his scarf tho.
Paul Hyde (Mr. District Attorney): The way he got shot was bullshit. What the fuck was that about?? I hardly even remember this movie.
Joel Cairo (The Maltese Falcon): Okay… I gotta confess… I fucking hate the Maltese Falcon. There I said it. It just rubs me the wrong way that in book context and Hays code movie context Joel is gay and gets beaten up the most. Like finally a highly canon gay one for me and I get this home of phobia. Fuck this. Also I do not like Bogart and I think this movie started it lol.
Pepi (All Through the Night): I’mma get shit for this. But… but… hear me out… sometimes a man thinks with his dick and not with his brain. This is one of them. When he shows up at the bar, dressed up all nice, smoking his little cigarette… I’m weak. And yes I know he is a nazi, but I could fix him. I could fuck the fascism out of him. If not… well… //cocks gun// Mid tier, because I can’t put him higher than that. If not for the fascism he would be A tier.
Jan Bernazsky (The Conspirators): I remember nothing from this movie. I think he was a red herring. He goes in mid.
Slimane (Casbah): Casablanca the musical. Getting very gay vibes from Slimane. Why are you a detective? To catch other men. To hold them close after you shoot them. Wow faggy. Anyway, a bit conflicted and had to dock points, because again cop.
Toady (Rope of Sand): I only watched this movie, because Claude Rains is the same height as me and I was hoping to see them stand next to each other, so I can visualize the height difference. Got a very nice homosexual cig lit scene from it. I have no recollection of the movie besides that scene, but he looks fine.
Japanese Steward on the S.S. Carnatic (Around the World in Eighty Days): I can’t fuck a man on a boat I’ll get sea sick.
Kurt Bergner (The Buster Keaton Story): Were you channeling some other asshole director from your life? You looked like you knew what you were doing? Anyway, would fuck just so I could get my start in the movie industry, but this relationship ain’t gonna last longer than a headline.
Brankov (Silk Stockings): Glorious Technicolor~ I have issues with this movie. It’s the inferior Ninotchka. The Russian names are once again butchered. The dancing is nice. Go white boy, fuck up the dance floor!! Nothing else to say about it really.
Abdul (The Sad Sack): Mon petite~! If I justified Pepi being in mid-tier, I can do the same for Abdul. He was eager to kill Jerry Lewis’ character and I think the movie would have benefited from it. Still he can’t go higher, because of the… ehh… Hollywood racism. He would be top fucking tier otherwise.
Skeeter (The Big Circus): Not into clowns. (A contradictory statement. If you know you know.)
Montresor (Tales of Terror): I’m in a predicament, because I’m a cat lover and this man was mean to a cat. He is very hot tho. Sorry, babes, but you gotta go into the mid rankings. Also fix your alcohol problem, I cannot let Freud win.
Hans Beckert (M): Okay, this is going to be controversial putting the child murderer so high up on the list, but consider this. He is so pathetic when he gets thrown down the stairs that I just can’t not fuck him. I’m also willing to look past that besides murder he also probably did other things too (yeah that’s a bit harder to get past eugh…). The murder I’m fine with tho. I’m very often locked in a train car with screaming children and I mean that would make anyone start whistling the tune of Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King. My dick could fix him, but if he wants to murder a child every now and then. I’m all for it.
Redakteur Stix (Die Koffer des Herrn O.F.): This man fucks. And I do mean HE fucks. Polo and Louis wish they were like Stix. He goes into A tier for terrorizing a whole town, getting laid, and getting the girl. Would you like to get the boy as well, hun~?
The General (Secret Agent): This look is absolute horrid… I fucking love it. For someone who is known to be a mustache lover I don’t ever want to see Peter with one. (I’m the one who wears the mustaches in this relationship.) This is an exception tho. It’s a gay disaster look. It’s so bad it’s hot. Extra points for the earring. (The ending to that movie was absolute bullshit tho. General your gun!!)
Prof. Sturm (Nancy Steele Is Missing!): I love it when he is a manipulative little bastard. Also he could have gotten away with it if it weren’t for someone having morals and loving his stolen adoptive child. Absolutely disgusting. The mustache and the glasses combo are acceptable (even if he looks like one of my high school teachers).
M’sieu Pig (Strange Cargo): The other incel. I’m docking points, because for most of the movie I had to watch Clark Gable be a misogynist and I already hate him. All this just to eyeball Peter Lorre… Anyway I would make that piggy squeal. A tier, but only because he shows off a bit of chest hair.
Fenninger (You’ll Find Out): Not particularly fond of this look. I like it better when his hair is a bit messy. Is one third of an evil gay polycule, so points to that. And also the long cig holder. Very gay, hun. And who can forget the og teeth. Would still drag my tongue across those chompers I don’t care what anyone says. (Mainly, because I also have similar fucked up looking messy teeth.)
Signor Ugarte (Casablanca): I’m putting him only in A tier, because he killed nazis at the start of the movie and is a desperate little homo, which is a trait I very much relate to. But Bogart… really… honey you could do so much better. Seriously y’all look me in the eye and tell me that Bogart is hot, when he plays these asshole characters. I’ll wait. Besides I’m right here. I’m ready to top you babe.
Marius (Passage To Marseilles): Love a man who is honest and proud of his professional achievements. And is very much good with his hands hello~ Dies (seriously why???) while fighting nazis. A bit of a scraggly look, but I love it. I also had to look up pics for this and turtlenecks make any man look slutty… and sir… your tits!! I need to feel them through the fabric~ Or just in general~
Dr. Einstein (Arsenic and Old Lace): He is a cute pathetic little meow meow. I want to (the following sentence had to be censored due to violating the Hays code). I am putting him only in A tier, because he is too popular, but I feel like that’s a personal bias.
Johannes Koenig (Hotel Berlin): Again a nice scraggly look. I love it~ He does get his shit together by the end and that’s good, but I wish he’d kept the five o’clock.
Contreras (Confidential Agent): I love a man who hates his job. So relatable. He does a big no no with being a sellout to the fascists, but he gets his just desserts and surprising doesn’t die from a gun, but a heart attack (and they pull a Weekend at Bernie’s with his corpse later on). He is really pathetic and I cannot control myself.
Johnny West (Three Strangers): //heavy breathing// I want him!! Finally a romantic role!! Babygirl yes!! I know you could do it!! If only you also took the money!!!!!!!!! For that last one he goes into A tier and not higher.
Gino (The Chase): Show off more of that chest hair, slut!! I would also not let this man drive (not that I can either). Besides babes the backseat has more space~
Nick (Quicksand): Blackmailing is fun when it’s not happening to you~ Also if we get together I could probably play the games for free. That’s a plus.
Paynter (Double Confession): This man was so desperate for approval. And y’all cannot tell me that he and Charlie weren’t a bit more than friends. Oh a man saves you and now you would do murders for him (except he’s a loser and is not okay with murder). Babe ditch him I would let you kill people for me. I’m not a pussy.
Dr. Karl Rothe/Dr. Karl Neumeister (The Lost One): Babygirl you have some deep rooted psychological issues that you should get checked out. Still, here’s my number. Call me, when you feel like choking me out, but not in a killing way. (Or maybe in a killing way, depends on how I feel.)
Colonel John Miguel Orlando Arragas (Congo Crossing): The straights looked at each other once and immediately kissed, so that set the tone for me. Anyway he is a cop, but he does do the right thing at the end, but still a cop. The uniform is nice. Doesn’t like his job much, so that’s kind of sexy. Eh, you know, what A tier. He is the exception. (I do hope he doesn’t expect me to say his entire name while I’m d(HAYS CODE) him down and making him swallow my (HAYS CODE).)
Nero (The Story of Mankind): Listen, I have some kinks… if you read my writings you know… I’m also drawn to a man with power, and money, and insanity. (I’m also really glad he didn’t have the chin beard like the real Nero, because that’s a deal breaker.)
Smiley (Scent of Mystery): Absolutely disappointed that this movie didn’t have a Dora the Explorer segment where the characters turn to the screen and ask the viewer if they can guess the mystery scent. Anyway hot. I love a man who knows how to be crafty regarding his job. Cheating, stealing, lying, all traits that make a honest Hungarian. Even stole someone’s wife just for the heck of it. Oh, honey~ Only A tier, because I can’t see this relationship going further than some fun in the backseat, but that’s probably enough.
Comm. Lucius Emery (Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea): He has a pet shark and wears a uniform. I’m already undoing my belt. This movie was… mmm… not good tho.
Dr. Adolphus Bedlo (The Raven): He is an abusive drunk parent. But he is so wet and pathetic. Frued won, I really am just gonna get together with someone who is like my dad (the real one not Béla).
Mr. Strangdour (Muscle Beach Party): He is the strongest man alive and yet I, his silly little kitten get to top him. My only problem with him is that I cannot for the life of me remember his name for some reason so I guess he just gotta deal with being called Sourdough and Stroganoff for the rest of his life. My concern is that his stupid kid is gonna walk in one day and go “Oh, you guys are wrestling, who’s winning? 8D” and I don’t want to deal with that.
Abbott (The Man Who Knew Too Much): He is evil, he is cunning, he has a neat little hair stripe just like me! Would also kill a child, which I personally don’t think is a terrible trait (as we saw earlier). Absolute snack! Baby I’ll be your dragon, I’ll be your right hand arm-man, your silly little homo eye candy!
Dr. Gogol (Mad Love): My favorite incel!! I wanna crack his bald head open with my canines like a hardboiled egg, call him a pathetic loser, and pin him against a wall and tongue him down! But seriously the man is the equivalent of a Reddit user, he has money tho, and if I could be his kept man, I wouldn’t mind.
Colonel Gimpy/Baron Rudolph Maximillian Tagger (Crack-Up): That scene where the plane is crashed into the ocean and his hair is wet and he looks up straight into the camera… //fans self// H-hewwo… daddy… sorry… daddy… sorry… Yeah, top tier. No question.
János ‘Johnny’ Szabó (The Face Behind The Mask): I refuse to use anything, but the correct Hungarian spelling, fuck you Hollywood. Kinda meh about him before the accident, way too happy and optimistic for my liking. I like a man who is bitter and ready to kill. Also something about masks just gives people a certain allure. Gets extra points for being the only Hungarian character Peter ever played and judging from the letter he writes back home, Johnny actually knows the language haha. I wouldn’t have to translate him my stupid memes, we could just switch back and forth. Domestic bliss.
Dr. Arthur Lorencz (The Boogie Man Will Get You): Top fucking tier! The most guy ever! He is a politician, he sells snake oil, he is a doctor, and also the town sheriff, cat lover, gay! Is there something this man can’t do! Love him!
Fritz Bercovy (The Constant Nymph): I know that in the book the character is supposed to be a very antisemitic caricature, but I think it was rewritten in the movie. Also I tried multiple times to check how old Toni is, but I only kept finding it for Tessa, so I’mma just gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say that Fritz is not a groomer, unlike Lewis. With all that out of the way, I have a confessions to make. This character sent me over the edge and I did a Peter Lorre expy in my novel. I am weak. I saw him in the fur with the cane (and the whole club was looking at her) and… he really be doing boyfriend cosplay with one of my main characters. Also he has money and is willing to spend it on his SO, so… //twirls hair// I’d love to be a kept man~
Cornelius Leyden (The Mask of Dimitrios): This man was put on this wretched Earth to wear bowties and by Lucifer he makes them look good. Also he has little gray hairs on the side. And glasses!!! //heavy breathing// I need to make him scream my name all through the night!
Peter Lorre (Hollywood Canteen): That’s just my mans! That’s just my guy! That’s just my husband! My sweet cheese! My rotten soldier! My good time BOI! How could I not put him at the top? (Disclaimer: The only one topping that man is me ayyyy)
Marko (Black Angel): This man really cannot sit normally, huh. Anyway, he was hot, fruity, and a loving father. And the movie wasn’t bad either. I was actually rooting for the straights in this one.
Victor Emmric (The Verdict): Oh, he is husband material. He is a morbid little bastard, and is also romantic. A bit on the drunk side, but I don’t care. He’s hot. Would love to do art trades with him.
Kismet (My Favourite Brunette): This man is MY favourite brunette. My nasty boyfriend who holds me at knife point and spits in my mouth and calls me his bitch~ (Is that a knife in your pocket or are you just happy to see me~) I would also help this man get his citizenship.
Peter Lorre (Meet Me in Las Vegas): People who say that they are only into him when he is young and slim are weak as fuck. Oh, so just because this man is old and fat and his biological clock is not ticking anymore you don’t wanna try and get him preganant anymore??? Move over!! I’ll give this man evil milk (read: cum).
Commissioner Lamoret (Hell Ship Mutiny): I love a man who absolutely hates his job and just wants an easy life and is also willing to murder a child for it. We have so much in common~ And with my help, we would have gotten away with it. We’d be spending retirement in Bora Bora, baybeh.
Felix Gillie (The Comedy of Terrors): You see that man? That man, is my husband. We are married. He supports me and I support him. I would lie in the coffin that he made for me. I know that most peeps fall for him in Arsenic, well I’m different. I have the Father Issues and I want stability and I feel like Felix would give that to me.
Morgan Heywood (The Patsy): He was suffering, I was suffering, there was a collective suffering with this movie. Our meet-cute is me absolutely going feral and killing Jerry Lewis right in front of him. Our eyes lock as I’m covered in blood and the cops take me away. He falls in love with me right then and there. Conjugal visits right until the end of my life sentence.
Okay, y'all can go now~

OOC | Tristan & Edmund
oh thank god another sane calainon!!!!!! i feel like tristan has felt verrrrrry alone in the world, being uhhhhh a bit different from his siblings alksdjfkljsdf and then when the family started to expand it was literally RODERICK he got for an in-law lkasjdafkljsdkfjjdsf
tristan, sean connery voice: our situation has not improved!
anyway!!!! tristan does have ~1 thing in common w the rest of his siblings at least bc he loved edmund from the word go!!!!!!! coolest little dude hands down from day one!!!!! <333333 and he's so proud of him too!!!!!! always here for edmund!!!!!
ok so i def think tristan is like...ur classic knight type!!!! he's honorable and protective and long-suffering and loyal to a fault and also mysterious bc he's utterly baffling when you start comparing him to his siblings ;DDDD
no but ANYWAY!! i feel like, just in terms of relationships, tristan is probs actually more like a big brother in some ways to edmund than an uncle bc he was only 9 when edmund was born, so he simply didn't have the experiences or anything to be your classic uncle bc he was a lil kid, himself, being raised by the same ppl that edmund was, though he was deffff a huge help w edmund and was like that lil kid you see toting around a baby and ur just like 'you go, champs!' bc he def takes responsibility super srsly and he wanted good things for edmund!!!! plus, tristan def saw some stuff himself but he was sheltered from it for the most part by his big siblings and he wanted to return the favor and protect edmund as much as he possibly could!!!!!
HOWEVER!! i also think that, initially, some of that sheltering kinda did tristan a bad turn bc i think he was so like !!!!!! damn we aren't starving anymore!!!!!! that he was gobbling up everything roderick was putting down bc like that's the dude who saved them and its his brother in law and he lost his gm but at least he has this growing family now!!!!! andddd yeahhhh
as tristan got older and saw more stuff, he started questioning things more but i think he was in a really weird place when he was offered the role of kingsguard, and in some ways he's ~still navigating around all of this frankly -- but then he 1) wanted to prove himself/make a difference/have a lil meaning in his life etc 2) wanted to look out edmund and amira 3) was still thinking that he must def be wrong abt these terrible doubts he was having!!!!!!
nowadays he's def questioning roderick more and more esp as he's seen worse and worse things, and if roderick ever tried to get him to burn witches or smth he'd flat out refuse, but honestly in some ways that only makes him more glad to be where he is bc he's there to look out for the other varmonts bc i def think, as hes watched roderick and amira push their various kids into competish w e/o he's like that's a big no from me!!!!!! but its also given him greater sympathy for ~all the ppl involved bc this just objectively sucks!!!!! and since he's kingsguard, he kinda views it as his duty to try and be objective tho lbr edmund ~is def his favorite!!!!!! and he's ~also started to get more and more uhhhhh well frankly distrusting of his own siblings esp amira bc she did jump into this out of desperation but she's def shown a darker side of herself etc!!!!
anyway!!!!! point is...this is all a lot and he's really really really sorry edmund has to go through it!!!!!! and kinda regrets being kingsguard now bc he wishes he could be more of a direct advocate for edmund!!!! but he's def a #dutyfirst kinda guy, and yeah its just a giant mess basically lkajdsfkjldsjkfd

LORD FINNEGAN CALLEARY / JOEY BATEY
♛ Age: 25 ♛ Relationships: Eabha Calleary, Aine Lorcan (sisters), Cormac Calleary (brother), Fiona Calleary (twin/fellow resistance member), Padraig Calleary (brother-in-law), Rian Stafford (enemy), Cillian Frost (friend/resistance member), Isolda Vane (flirtation/resistance member) Ciara Varmont (cousin/fellow resistance member), Eoin Varmont (cousin), Bartholomew Varmont (uncle), Cassandra Varmont, Aria Stafford, Roisin Malconaire, Cecily Hamlen, Aisling Lorcan (flirtations), Ronan Frost, Saoirse Frost, Percy Reaves, Kale Brennan, Isolda Vane (fellow resistance members)
Finn was born ten minutes before his younger sister -- a fact that he reminds her of at every turn!
says she's completely insufferable but honestly she's his best friend do not let him tell you differently!!!
finn loves to party & have fun (is possibly a lowkey functioning alcoholic tbh)
honestly you will likely find him in a tavern where he's drinking and gambling like he's still livin' in a pre-Roderick Astaira
the callearys used to be a very wealthy house! (did very well with international trade with younger sons often becoming merchants)
finn always said that that's what he planned to do but he's been too lazy to actually take it on
Doesn’t like that he must now check his spending and be further reminded of the way they now live
their ancestral seat has been taken from them since their father was found to be a traitor to the emperor and now they must reside with his sister's family at lorcan until cormac's new estate is ready
is realizing that he actually needs to take more responsibility for both himself and his sisters now that cormac is in charge and his sisters do not have the same inheritance rights they had under their queen
loves flirting with the ladies!!! will flirt with anyone tbh (his sisters: it is embarrassing)
“The only way to treat a lady is to make love to her if she is pretty and someone else if she is plain”
Is never serious about anything and that can be rather frustrating
Is realizing that he actually needs to take more responsibility for both himself and his family now that his arrogant brother is in charge
is a resistance member thanks to the interference of his sister and while he does genuinely care about the cause, he can be a bit unmotivated b/c he tends to be both lazy and selfish a lot of the time
still, his heart has always been in the right place and he is making a conscious effort to be a better man
TAKEN BY LIZZY.

OOC | Godfrey & Edmund
nephew!!! godfrey honestly can't wait for the day that edmund is emperor!! he's got a lot of ideas about how the empire can be run more smoothly and like???? god, he's so weird idek how to explain sdafjklsdjf ok so i feel like godfrey is a really weiRD mix of characteristics like???? he's cutthroat and ruthless but he's also innovative and altruistic, like he legit wants to make the world a better place!!!!! but mostly bc he thinks its a black terrible place and he thinks it'll take a monster to carve a paradise out of the muck basically????? and he aint afraid to make the world a lot worse on his way to the top to do that?????? lskjflasjdkfjf
anyway uncle godfrey out here literally willing to lie cheat steal and kill to get edmund on the throne!!!! and then he's gonna do everything it takes to realize his vision of a better future like????? he's so weird idek let's blame the witch grandma bc its always good to blame the witch </3
i feel like godfrey and amira and tristan had a really tough time growing up, saw some really bad stuff, and godfrey is convinced that he needs to cleanse this world and, thanks to edmund, he can! thanks, bud! and i think he's like 'they can hate me, but my children will have a better future ahead than i ever did etc' but!!! i don't think he is ~just team edmund bc edmund's his nephew (tho that's not nothing to him!), i think he genuinely believes in edmund and thinks he's brilliant and capable and is the ideal princeling to help him achieve his ends!! and godfrey can be his pet monster, cleansing this world for him w fire and sword!!
but all that being said, i ALSO think that godfrey legit loves his nephew v much and is super proud of him and protective of him and always has his back in his own particular distant and scheming way!!
im also toying w the notion that, given his witchy grandma, he may know about the guardians BUT, if so, i lowkey think he might actually be in favor of the apocalypse like -- i think he might actually lowkey be egging on roderick about his monotheistic religion intentionally to bring that on bc that would be a v effective cleansing reset for this wicked world and after that anyone left can help clean up whatever's left over alkjsfkjlsdfjksf BUT he wants to get safeguards in place first -- like, godfrey aint letting his family members get swallowed by the apocalypse so i feel like he's building various stuff into his new keep but!!! anyway!!! idk!!!! it depends a lil on what the mythos about the apocalypse is like if there's no chance for humanity if that happens then he's def against it hahaha -- also, alternately, he might not believe in any of that stuff at all and might just think their grandma was a crazy old hag and there are no gods whatsoever, even monstrous ones etc idk aljskdfkjdsfjk
but yeah basically the cojent points here are that he's messed up af and wants to make the world a better place...by lowkey destroying it -- like, he does terrible things and legit believes he's doing it for the greater good, he wants his nephew to rule, and finally in his own bizarre way he loves his fam v much and would do anything for them but its complicated bc he's hella messed up asdljfkdskjfkljsf so yeah yet another super mentally healthy family member for edmund over here lkajsdfljksdjfjsdkfl

I've seen someone claiming that Aemond and Alys had actually spent some time together, became acquainted (possibly even lovers) before he killed her family and this might be one of the reasons why she was spared. I feel like I'm being gaslighted a bit because according to the text, if I remember correctly, Aemond arrives at Harrenhal a day or so after Cole took the castle, he quickly celebrates his "victory" thinking Daemon ran away and then receives word about the fall of King's Landing which causes him to execute the Strongs. All of this took a few days to happen, at most, making it improbable for anyone to develop some sort of romantic relationship. Am I missing something?
Criston did not actually “take” Harrenhal, Daemon just abandoned it.
Cole had to march 19 days before he could reach the castle.
Before then, he fought a battle he easily won against Oswald Wode, the Lord Darry, and the Lord Foote.
Yes, Aemond joined Cole the day after.
Yes, Aemond heard about King’s Landing’s conquest after he already celebrated his occupation of Harrenhal, which he thinks of his “taking” of it.
Time is sometimes weird in Fire and Blood. We don’t get a clear sentence showing how long it took Aemond to hear about King’s Landing, but I imagine that it would take just a few days (4 the minimum?) for him to find out. And in those days, one day was used as to celebrate.
And no, this isn’t enough time for a person to “fall in love”. This isn’t a Romeo and Juliet story.
Alys was Aemond’s war prize before he killed all the males in House Strong, which, again, I think happened days after Aemond occupied Harrenhal.
Which means he more then likely took her almost immediately, at least in the first two days after he occupied the castle.
This is the quote:
Even dragons, as King’s Prince Aemond Landing and fell Ser to Criston Rhaenyra Cole Targaryen were advancing and her on Harrenhal, whilst the Lannister host under Adrian Tarbeck swept eastward.
[The appearance of Roderick Dustin, aka Roddy the Ruin and his band, The Winter Wolves and Sabitha Frey]
Meanwhile, muddy roads and rainstorms slowed the pace of Aemond’s advance, for his host was made up largely of foot, with a long baggage train. Ser Criston’s vanguard fought and won a short, sharp battle against Ser Oswald Wode and the Lords Darry and Roote on the lakeshore, but met no other opposition. After nineteen days on the march, they reached Harrenhal...and found the castle gates open, with Prince Daemon and all his people gone.
Prince Aemond had kept Vhagar with the main column throughout the march, thinking that his uncle might attempt to attack them on Caraxes. He reached Harrenhal a day after Cole, and that night celebrated a great victory; Daemon and “his river scum” had fled rather than face his wroth, Aemond proclaimed. Small wonder then that when word of the fall of King’s Landing reached him, the prince felt thrice the fool. His fury was fearsome to behold.
First to suffer for it was Ser Simon Strong.
[The Strong extinction]
Thus did the flower of House Strong, an ancient line of noble warriors boasting descent from the First Men, come to an ignoble end in the ward at Harrenhal. No trueborn Strong was spared, nor any bastard save...oddly...Alys Rivers. Though the wet nurse was twice his age (thrice, if we put our trust in Mushroom), Prince Aemond had taken her into his bed as a prize of war soon after taking Harrenhal, seemingly preferring her to all the other women of the castle, including many pretty maids of his own years.

i so agreeeee!!!!! i think, in some ways, they may actually be a model of what edmund/arthur could've been if they'd been allowed to just be brothers, bc -- while obv there are significant differences between each uncle and each nephew, etc -- i do feel like there are also similarities there as well that really work like even down to the varmont vs kolchean styles of fighting etc lakjsdfjdsf but anyway!!!! aldskjfksdljf but also i feel like their brands of humor are actually lowkey similar, like they both have this ironic twang, it seems, to them, plus i think alaric's solidity and seriousness is a good counterbalance to the mercury of godfrey's wits and, like, godfrey hasn't experienced a ton of loyalty in his life, yknow? but i feel like alaric is a v loyal guy, and that sort of thing, too?
but yessss i defff think godfrey is quite practiced at getting alaric to open up a bit atp and, dare i say it, can probs even wring a smile out of him from time to time ;DDDD but i also think alaric may have helped godfrey adjust to ~varmont culture~ a bit? obv we know godfrey's a bit of a chameleon, but i do think kolchis probs, just by nature of being a ~different country~ etc, just does some things ~differently, and suddenly godfrey's out there and by law brother to the emperor...and there's alaric ~actual brother to the emperor to show him the ropes, yknow?
honestly being sus of them makes sooo much sense!! like amira def highkey wormed her way in there, yknow, and like she's known to be ~the high priestess of the eternal flame~ as the last known lady of calainon etc, so like instantly she's a symbol of everything roderick is mean to be against, and he's betraying this literal love match for it too who is probs someone who may ~also have lowkey had a hand in raising alaric, given her position? but was certainly at the v least a sister figure to alaric from the time he was pr tiny and yeah!!!
BHAHAHA omg honestly godfrey ~would #facepalm but honestly i love that as their friendship backstory like??? that just lowkey feels classic for them somehow lakjsdfkjdsf and is def suuuper on brand for godfrey smdh like turning an enemy into his bff??? meanwhile amira is like 'im his wife now and you can die mad abt it' @ her brand new baby bro is ~also on brand smdh godfrey, repeating smth he says way too often: 'sorry abt my sister, man' alksjdfklsdjf
anyway, i def think that godfrey, in the past, def tried to bring alaric over to team edmund ngl, but i do think he's more or less resigned that -- barring some wild and shocking revelation abt arthur's true parentage or smth ;DDD -- they're probs fated enemies which he's frankly super bummed abt but that's showbiz, baby! and yeah he's def ride or die for edmund, that kid has a one way elite first class ticket to all of godfrey's loyalty and that's just that! and i think he knows that alaric def errs team arthur, and honestly given all that, godfrey ~also def edits what he allows alaric to know for the same reason -- i can even see where there might be sort of an unspoken rule for them where you just don't...talk abt that stuff!! like they both know they're holding stuff back and that's fine, we just don't poke at it, kinda thing?
ooc | Alaric & Godfrey
Alaric and Godfrey are best friends!!! tbh I feel like they compliment each other a lot and Godfrey helps Alaric to get out of his shell a little more and actually have fun sometimes!!!
However, I do think that Alaric has always been a little suspicious of Amira and her fam??? Like they never really sat right with Alaric and ngl I feel like he got close w/ Godfrey to try to see what he could find out about them but it kinda backfired and Godfrey charmed him into being friends????
I do think that Alaric kind of has a complicated relationship with Godfrey though, like he loves hanging out with him and spending time together, but I think he also knows that Godfrey will ride or die with Edmund and b/c of this and the fact that he does NOT trust Amira, I don't think he will ever fully be able to trust Godfrey and although he does let his guard down a little more than usual when they are together, he does censure what he allows Godfrey to know.

LONESTARS GUIDE TO THE WAYNES AND KANES OF GOTHAM CITY PART ONE REDUX
BRUCE WAYNES UNCLES AND AUNTS(Including by marriage) EDITION
WAYNES
“Waynes never stay down. We RISE”
The Wayne's are one of the so called first families of Gotham
also known as the Founding Families of Gotham or more simply, the Five Families are the five families affiliated with the creation of Gotham as a city.
AGATHA WAYNE
First appearance: Batman issue 89 February 1955
Agatha has been discribed as Thomas Wayne frail elder sister. She occasionally visits Bruce when he’s a adult. On Earth Two where she originally debuted it’s been said that she helped out the next person on this list with young Bruce whenever she could.
It could be possible that either Agatha or the next person on our list was the one to inherit the families gotham based ancestral home based on earth two/Golden age Bruce buying a mansion to live in shortly before becoming Batman
Agatha has a counterpart on new earth/post COIE who is said to be the only sibling of Thomas Wayne(still as a older sister.).
It is unknown if she has ever had kids. On Earth Two there is evidence that Bruce has at least one possibly 1st cousin on his fathers side who I will talk about in another post I’m planning on making about Bruce’s cousins.
PHILIP WAYNE (Not to be confused with Martha’s brother of the same first name whose farther down this list)
First Earth-One appearance: Batman issue 208 February 1969
Originally introduced in the earth-one era of comics it is later revealed that a Philip Wayne did exist on the earlier earth-two in Secret Origins Vol 2 #6 (September, 1986)
On both Earth-One and Earth-Two Philip Wayne was the one who took young Bruce in after he was orphaned.
It is unknown who is older between him and Thomas but based on the appearance of Earth-One Philip(white hair and mustache) I would say that Philip was the older one at least on that earth where both he and Thomas took charge of the family business AKA Wayne Enterprise.
On Earth-Two Thomas was the one to inherit the family fortune suggesting that he was the eldest of the two Wayne sons on that Earth. Earth-Two Philip is only seen once and it’s only a silhouette of him.
It is unknown if he has ever had kids. On Both Earth-Two as well as as Earth-One there is evidence that Bruce has at least one possible paternal 1st cousin on each. Both of them I will talk about in another post I’m planning on making about Bruce’s cousins.
Vanderveer Wayne SR.
first appearance: Powerless episode 3
For the sake of this post I will say a Fourth Wayne sibling to my knowledge has never appeared in the comics HOWEVER a paternal Uncle Of Bruce was introduced in the short lived TV show Powerless as Vanderveer Wayne SR.
Vanderveer Wayne, Sr. was the original boss of Wayne Security, before passing the job to his son Vanderveer Wayne Jr and taking a position on the board of directors of Wayne Enterprise.
Patricia Wayne
First Appearance: Pennyworth episode One
The elder sister of Thomas Wayne. She has been described and shown to be a typical rich party girl who according to Thomas apparently likes to cause scandals that drag the Wayne name through the mud. The foolish sibling to Thomas responsible sibling. They bicker and she calls him names but like any typical siblings they still love eachother.
ON PRIME EARTH/NEW 52 it is said that Thomas Wayne was a only child. As of may 4 2021 none of the other Wayne siblings has so far made a appearance in Any Comics set on Prime earth. But hey screw Canon right?
KANES
“We Stand TOGETHER”
The Kane family was cited as being so rich that the only parts of Gotham that were not owned by them were those owned by the Wayne Family.
NATHAN KANE
First mentioned in Batman Incorporated(don’t quote me on that) taking place on New Earth And is confirmed to exist on Prime Earth as well.
Not much is known about Nathan. We don’t even have a proper picture of him. What we do know is that he is the eldest son(Batman Incorporated vol 1 #4)and he was the one who inherited both the family fortune as well as the family Crest Hill Estate after family Patriarch and Matriarch Roderick and Elizabeth/Elisabeth(seen it spelt both ways) both died. He is called the golden scion of the family.
On New Earth He married the original Batwoman aka Katherine Webb-Kane the year Batman became active in Gotham. He was apparently 40 when he started dating 25 year old Kathy Webb-Kane, 43 when he finally married(the year Batman age 25 debuted in Gotham) and 47 when he died.
Kathy Webb-Kane/ Katrina “Luka” Netz.
First Earth-One appearance: Detective Comics #233 (July, 1956)
First Earth-Two Appearance: The Brave and the Bold #182 (January, 1982)
First New Earth Appearance:Batman #678 (August, 2008)
First Prime Earth Appearance:Batman Incorporated Vol 2 #10 (June, 2013
The Original Batwoman!
Strap in because this is a long one.
On Earth-One her history is as follows: Kathy Kane was a wealthy heiress who gained great acrobatic skills during her career as a circus trapeze artist and stunt cyclist. Becoming infatuated with the Batman, she fashioned herself a costume and secret hide-out and started operating as Batwoman. At first she upstaged Batman and his sidekick Robin in capturing crooks. However, Batman eventually learned her true identity and tracked her to her secret cave hide-out. Showing her how easily it was for him to learn her identity, Batman pointed out that criminals could probably do it just as easily and tried to convince her to drop out of crime fighting. Disobeying Batman's advice, she tried to capture mobster Curt Briggs. During this caper, Batman went missing and Briggs, struck with amnesia, left thinking he was Batman. Ultimately the real Batman reappeared, and Biggs was turned over to the police. Afterwards, Batwoman went back to retirement. However, Kathy Kane became tired of the dull life of a rich heiress and came out of retirement once more in order to recapture a criminal named Elton Cragg. It was during this case that Batwoman gained super-powers and after her heroic deeds, she convinced Batman to let her continue her crime-fighting career. Ironically, around this time, Kathy started dating Bruce Wayne and she started to fall in love with Batman, unaware that they were the same person.
When Bruce Wayne was framed for a crime he didn't commit, Batwoman teamed-up with Robin in order to clear Batman's name. During an undercover mission, Batwoman was captured by a criminal leader and was rescued by the Dynamic Duo. When both Batwoman and reporter Vicki Vale were nominated Gotham City's "Woman of the Year", both tried to upstage each other to get the lead in the contest. With the help of Batman and Robin, both Vicki and Batwoman captured Moose Molloy's gang and both were crowned woman of the year. When Batman and Robin were trapped in a cave in, Ace the Bat-Hound guided Batwoman to help free them and capture the criminal Dr. Midas. Batwoman next helped the Dynamic Duo capture Firefly, aided them in preventing Lex Luthor from atomizing Superman, and helped them capture the Spinner. Batwoman later met with Bat-Mite and working together, they captured some crooks to save the Dynamic Duo.After this adventure, Bat-Mite became infatuated with Batwoman and tried to become her sidekick, creating chaos for everyone until he realized his mistake and left. When trying to solve the mystery of who murdered Professor Lacy after his discovery of a living caveman, Batwoman was saved by the caveman who sacrificed himself to save her from Lacy's killer: Harbin, Lacy's assistant. When Kathy Kane purchased a mystical belt, she becames a target of the criminal Star-Man. The belt sucked Batwoman's life energy from her body and she was saved by Batman and Robin, who arrived in time to stop Star-Man.
When Kathy's niece Betty Kane came to visit her, the young girl learned of her aunt's double identity. Kathy agreed to train Betty to be her sidekick, thinking that the young girl would eventually lose interest. However, to her surprise, Betty proved capable and became Batwoman's sidekick Bat-Girl. On their first mission, the two women helped Batman and Robin defeat King Cobra and his gang.Batwoman then became a victim of Luthor's experiments, who manipulated Kathy and gave her super-powers to fight her allies. After a long struggle, Superman managed to break Lex's control over Kathy and she returned to normal. When Batman and Robin were briefly transformed into alien creatures, Batwoman was one of the few who actually believed they were the real Dynamic Duo, until they were restored to normal. She later helped Batman and Robin capture the "Rockets" Rogan Gang. Later, after Batman and Batwoman were captured by the Moth, they were rescued by Bat-Girl and Robin. Later, Kathy went on a date with Bruce Wayne to an amusement park that was previously the location where the Justice League of America recently had a battle. As Batwoman, Kathy joined Batman on a trip to Washington D.C. to testify to the Senate Committee, leaving their young sidekicks to defend Gotham City in their absence. She next aided Batman and Robin in capturing the criminal known as the Vulcan.
Kathy's romances with Bruce Wayne and Batman became rocky, first during a period where Bruce Wayne was briefly transformed into a child, he made it appear that he's seeing another woman in order to keep Kathy away, and later when Batman, while under the effect of a love potion, fell in love with a woman named Elsie.Kathys romance woes became more complicate when Alpha, the Experimental Man fell in love with her, until the artificial man sacrificed himself to save her from falling off a cliff.
When helping Batman and Robin solve a murder during Mardis Gras, she got into a feud with Vicki Vale over who is the right person for Batman, forming the first of many competitions for Batman's affections. She later helped Batman capture Catman.
When she and Batman were briefly transported to another dimension by invaders from that world, their mortality was in question unless they were freed. During this period, Batwoman managed to get Batman to warm up and admit some of his feelings toward her before they were rescued by Robin and Bat-Girl.
Batwoman's feud with Vicki Vale heat up again when both women tried to determine if Mirror Man's assertions that Bruce Wayne was really Batman were true. When Batman scolded Batwoman for getting in the way of his attempts to capture Catman, she faked her intentions to join the criminal as Cat-Woman, until Catman seemingly died in the battle.Batwoman and Bat-Girl later helped the Dynamic Duo end a feud between the Joker and Clayface, and helped Batman and Robin capture the Terrible Trio
Once more suspecting that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same man, Kathy Kane was convinced otherwise when Superman posed as Batman. However the plan went awry when a bomb goes off seemingly killing "Batman" and necessitating Superman to pose as the ghost of Batman for a time.
When Batman was briefly transformed into a gigantic creature, Batwoman teamed-up with Robin and Ace the Bat-Hound to track down the crooks that have the cure. After this, Catman reappeared and discovered his costume had mystical properties that gave him nine-lives, allowing him to continue on his crime spree. With her Cat-Woman costume, Batwoman helped Batman and Robin capture him.
Following this adventure, Batwoman went into retirement and disappear from Batman's life almost entirely. She become the owner of a circus, but often longed to return to her former crime fighting career.
Batwoman came out of retirement to aid Batgirl(Barbara Gordon)against Killer Moth and the Cavalier, but her return was never intended to be permanent.Kathy Kane was then present at a surprise party for Bruce Wayne at Wayne Manor. When Batwoman was later disintegrated into nothingness on Barbara Gordon's doorstep, Batgirl and Robin teamed-up to find the cure and restore Batwoman to her normal form. Shortly after this, Batwoman met the Huntress from Earth-Two and aided her in capturing Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Madame Zodiac. When the Freedom Fighters of Earth-X searched for a group of criminals known as the Warmakers, their search led them to the carnival owned by Kathy Kane. Kathy, as Batwoman, aided the Freedom Fighters and Batgirl in defeating the Warmakers. In her last recorded adventure, Kathy Kane was murdered by the League of Assassins who were being manipulated by Ra's al Ghul. Her death was eventually avenged by Batman.
Katherine Kane was also known as Batwoman in the Earth-Two timeline. Her history and career are said to reflect that of her Earth-One counterpart, except for that version's untimely death. When Kathy adopted the role of Batwoman, Batman wanted her to retire from the role for fear that she would be hurt in her costumed exploits. Kane would continue to operate in her costumed identity until she learned that Batman had become deeply romantically interested in someone in his unmasked identity. While Wayne never revealed his identity to her, or explicitly told her of his private life, she said she knew of his change in his attitude to her and assumed as such. She largely retired from her costumed role soon after this. Years later, she learned that Wayne was the original Batman when his costume identity was revealed to the general public after his own demise. Not long after this, Kane resumed her costumed identity when she learned of the presence of a "new" Batman. When she found him, Kathy learned that this Batman belonged in the alternate timeline of Earth-One, but the emotional shock of seeing Batman alive was still great. However, Kathy realized that he was not the love of her life reborn, but was a completely new person.
On New Earth her history is as follows
By age 25, Kathy Webb was an underground film director, a poet, and something of a wild child. But when she met Nathan Kane(who we already established as being a brother to Martha Wayne) , he bought her a circus, and she fell head-over-heels in love with him. They were together for seven years and married for four of those same years(thus making her a aunt by marriage to Bruce,Kate, Beth, And Bette) before he died of a stroke. After this, she was approached by a secret organization called Spyral to find out Batman's secret identity. Assessing the information on the Caped Crusader, she decided the best approach was to make him chase her. To that end, she brushed up on detective skills, martial arts and motor-biking, got a costume and started calling herself Batwoman. Her plan worked, and within a few months they were an item. However, Batman was careful not to give her his secret identity, and in fact worked out hers first. This, coupled with her feelings for Batman, lead her to try and break off ties with Spyral. However, her employer, the mysterious Agent-Zero, turned the tables on her, forcing her to break off on both sides, which she did. She was believed to be killed by the Bronze Tiger on behalf of the League of Assassins. The second Batwoman Kate Kane(who like Her cousins Bruce and Bette is Kathy’s relative by way of marriage) investigated the murder, but could not find anything. That was because she was never killed; after a staged death, she worked behind the scenes with Spyral to stop Leviathan. She eventually succeeded in shooting Talia al Ghul during her final standoff with Batman, before claiming that she would not be meeting Batman again, leaving to continue leading Spyral.
On Prime Earth she is Katrina "Luka" Netz one of Spyral's oldest members and the daughter of the former Director of Spyral Herr Netz. Kathy presumably being a alias that she used. Based on what I read in the comics I believe her role as Batwoman is still be canon due to nightwing recognizing her voice at one point and if not then at least her marriage to Nathan Kane is still canon.
PHILIP KANE
First appearance: Batman vol 2 issue 21 August 2013
Introduced during Zero Year(the volume he’s introduced in isn’t in the hardback version however) on Prime Earth Philip Kane ran Wayne Enterprise in Bruce’s absence. While Bruce was traveling the world training, Philip held down the business with his adviser Edward Nygma(we all know how well that turned out)
He had studied to be a geologist as a younger man, he was on a Expedition in northern Mexico when his father Roderick learned that he was dying and had came to get Philip to take him back home. Philip and his father fought because he didn’t want to go. Their fighting resulted in Philip splitting his head open which resulted in him getting a metal plate in his head.
He had given up that dream to take up the responsibility of helping to run the family business. During the Time that Bruce was abroad Philip managed to in his own words “Finally Merged the families” with both families companies(Kane Materials/Kane indrustries, Wayne Industry)seemingly merging into Wayne Enterprise.
Philip was the one who had Bruce Wayne declared legally dead which Bruce originally didn’t want to reverse. Philip Kane was also the one who was able to mostly track where Bruce was during his training. Not even Alfred knew where he was.
Philip was unfortunately blackmailed like many other citizens of Gotham by Red Hood One into joining the Red Hood gang. Being branded “Red Hood 347”, Philip did the bidding of the gang leader until Kane turned. During Batman’s assault on Red Hood One at the Ace chemical processing plant(which ironically on new earth used to belong to the Kane family as Kane Chemicals before being sold and the company Renamed Ace Chemicals )Philip gave his life to distract the Red Hood while the villain was going to kill Batman.
Trivia:Philip Kane was the one who originally own the Giant Penny whose forging he had overseen himself.
THE UNSEEN UNNAMED PARENTS OF MARY ELIZABETH(Bette) KANE
No names or appearances have ever been given for these two.
Bette’s mom was mentioned in one issue of Batwoman and that was it. Seriously it was one where it's implied she already gave up on her daughter surviving her injuries and so she was off panel implied to be talking to the doctors about donating bettes organs or something when Jacob kane was rambling besides a comatose bette. Yeah it was implied that they moved out to the west coast and lived in California because I believe that's where bette grew up in most continuities.
Next up is one every one who kept up with Bat related related comics since 2011 should be very familiar with
JACOB KANE
First New Earth Appearance: 52 #7 (August, 2006)(in a photograph alongside his second wife)/Detective Comics issue 854 August 2009
First Prime Earth Appearance: Batwoman Vol 2 #0 (November, 2012)
A lifelong soldier, Jacob had been a field officer with USSOCOM for most of his career, leading numerous tactical operations across the globe
He and his first wife Gabi are parents to twins Beth and Kate Kane
Jacob has earned the following military awards: the Army Achievement Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NATO Medal for Kosovo, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, and an Army Aviator Badge. Jacob has worked extensively with military intelligence services.
The Kanes often moved due to the nature of Jacob and Gabi’s work. Jacob was frequently away from home, since his duties included intervention in various international military crises.
They eventually moved to Brussels in Belgium, since the parents were now serving at NATO. However, the family was soon torn apart due to a terrorist attack. Gabi took her daughters out to celebrate their twelfth birthday, and they were kidnapped by heavily armed men. Military intelligence eventually located the hostages, and Jacob was put in charge of the tactical unit sent to rescue them. However, they were too late, as his wife had been executed and his daughter Elizabeth was believed to be dead. He rescued Kate himself, but she was traumatized by the sight of her dead mother and sister.
Colonel Kane plays an important role in his daughter’s Batwoman operations. He provides her a one-man command, control, and communications center. They stay in constant radio link, with the elder Kane being able to run searches, provide advice, and generally work in the background using his considerable knowledge, contacts and experience. Colonel Kane primarily uses his connections and his intelligence-gathering and management skills. He has access to numerous databases that are normally only accessible to military and law enforcement personnel to provide intel to his daughter.
Jacob is the next kane sibling most people would know about in part thanks to both his comic appearances In multiple bat comics as well as his appearance on the arrowverse batwoman tv show.
Gabrielle Kane(knee Goldstein in the arrowverse)
First New Earth Appearance: Detective Comics 855 September 2009
First Prime Earth Appearance: Batwoman volume 2 issue 27 March 2014
Captain Gabi Kane is the mother of Kate Kane (who later became Batwoman) and her identical twin Beth Kane. A member of the US Army’s 525th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, she married another soldier, Jacob Kane. Both Kanes worked extensively with military intelligence services, and often moved as a result, even after their children were born. On Prime Earth When her sister-in-law Martha died she went to the funeral with both her husband and Kids. She reminded her husband that not all of Martha was dead(referring to Bruce) Eventually, the Kanes moved to Brussels, Belgium, since the parents were now serving at NATO. The family, however, was torn apart due to a terrorist attack. As Gabi was taking her daughters for their 12th birthday, they were kidnapped by heavily armed men. Military intelligence eventually located the hostages, and Jacob was put in charge of the tactical unit sent to rescue them. However, they were too late, as Gabi had been executed. Jacob rescued Kate himself, but she was traumatized by the sight of her dead mother and her supposedly dead sister.
TRIVIA: Gabi had a tattoo of the Special Forces arrowhead insignia on her right bicep; her daughter Kate later copied this.
Catherine Hamilton-Kane
First New Earth appearance: 52 #7 (August, 2006)(in a photograph alongside her husband)/Detective Comics Vol 1 #856 October, 2009
First Prime Earth Appearance: Batwoman Vol 2 #0 (November, 2012)
Heiress to the Hamilton arms fortune(called Hamilton dynamics in the batwoman tv show), and second wife of Jacob Kane.
Cathy is a jet-setter and socialite involved in politics. The Hamilton fortune was built upon guns. Catherine family owned the enormously successful Hamilton company, which apparently became a household name during the days of the Old West Firearms. Appears to care greatly for her niece by marriage(one can assume she might feel the same for Bruce if and when she finds out he’s Batman) if the way she reacted to finding out about Bette being a vilgilante in the comics is any indication.

Homeward Bound or Meeting The Family
Quick Tag List: @kuruumiya @spacelizardtrashboys @stupidbluegirl @enigmaticandunstable @nattinngrst
This Passage contains potentially: swearing, violence, blood, angst, whump, fluff and smutty content.
Summary: Rod pushes forward the flight back to Kirby's homeland by a day and meets her parents, her Mam takes an instant liking to him, her Da not so much.
Kirby's POV:
Rod shook me awake early in the morning of the Twenty-Seventh.
"Kirbs, we gotta pack."
"No we don't the flight back ain't 'till tomorrow."
"I called the airport, they let me push the trip forward by a day."
I shot up, giving him a worried look, "You pushed the flight forward to today?"
"Yeah."
I rushed to pack everything I had into my bags, mumbling incoherently under my breath.
"When do we leave?"
Rod picked up my suitcase, walking to the door, "In about half an hour."
I threw my gym bag over my shoulder and rushed to get into the D200, waiting for Roddy to check us out of the hotel and join me.
The flight back was uneventful and we got a taxi to my parent's home, with me ringing the doorbell and waiting for the door to open, hearing my parents muffled voices from inside.
"Ya didn't order anything, Heaven?"
"No, Eric. I'll go see who it is."
I shot Rod a reassuring look and waited for my Mam to open the door.
The door swung open.
"fy mhlentyn melys." She put her hands up to cover her mouth.
"Hi Mammy." I dropped my bags and hugged her.
"Come in, come in." She guided us into the living room, my Da on the recliner chair next to the sofa in front of the TV, "We weren't expectin' ya back today. How long are ya staying?"
"About three weeks, ma'am." Rod explained.
"'three weeks'?" I whispered, he nodded in return.
My Da looked up and immediately got up to hug me, "Aw, my baby has come home. Who's your friend?"
"Well, Mam, Da, this is Roddy Piper. He's a co-worker and a close friend." I sheepishly explained.
"I'm ya daughter's boyfriend." He butted in.
"Oh, Really, Is that so?" My Da started, having decided to quiz Roddy, "If you're her boyfriend, what's her favourite food?"
"Da, question him later, please."
"Alright, you're off the hook for now, boyo."
"If you're home for the next week then you can come with us on Sunday to the family get together."
"Which is on Sunday because you expected me back tomorrow?"
"Aye. Your new man can come with us if he likes."
I shot my Mam my best look of 'shuddup Mam you're embarrassing me'.
"I'd love to join you and meet more of your beautiful daughter's family."
We sat on the sofa, with me between Rod and my Da in his recliner chair, my Mam stayed on her feet and the straggler, my old cat came striding into the room and jumped up onto my lap, quickly curling up and letting me pet him.
"Do any of ya want a coffee, or tea?"
"A coffee would be nice." my Da mumbled, focusing again on the TV.
"Yes, a coffee please, Mam."
"A, uh, a cup of tea please, Missus Trevor."
"Ya got yourself a polite one there, Kirby."
"Mam." I chided her as she walked out of the room.
"Who's ya little buddy?"
"This, Rod, is 'The Straggler', he's my cat, and he's a cute little fat blob of a ginger fluffball. Sometimes I think I'm the reason he's fat, other times I think it's him sneaking out at night and eating things he shouldn't, like grass."
"So, his name's 'The Straggler'?"
"No, his actual name is 'Tiger' but we call him 'Fat Man' or 'The Straggler'."
"So, where do we put our bags?"
I lifted the straggler off my lap and got up, placing him back on my seat, he quickly curled up again, happy to be in a place that I had been in seconds before, "Come on, I'll show ya." I grabbed my bags and led Roddy to my bedroom upstairs, putting down my gym bag and opening the door as far as it would go.
My bedroom isn't the biggest but it's big enough to comfortably fit myself and at least one other person. The wall facing the door was covered by a big gothic graveyard tapestry, my sofa bed in front of it, large enough to fit two people or one giant.
The wall to the right was covered by posters of varying designs and sizes, all being rather dark or darkly comedic in nature. In front of that was my desk, completely covered with small trinkets and tiny states as well as a small radio.
Next to that was a bedside cabinet with a makeup caddy on top and my Mam had seemingly gone out to a local shop, buying some fudge and chocolate which she had placed on the cabinet-top.
The wall to the left had a window and a radiator underneath, the curtains, a deep red tartan, were parted, allowing the somewhat bright light of the afternoon into the room.
We walked in and Rod sat down on the bed, bouncing slightly on the mattress and letting out a deep sigh. I walked around to the chest of drawers behind the door and placed my bags on top of it.
"So, your parents aren't as tall as I'd thought they'd be?"
"My Da's five-foot-nine, my Mam's five-foot-four. I have gigantism."
"I know that, but, I just, I guess I wasn't expecting them to be so," He seemed to be fumbling with his words, unsure of how to explain himself, he huffed and then continued, "I wasn't expecting them to be so nice."
"Well, they were kinda forced to be both protective and kind as I grew up. Kind to others who want to be in my life while protecting me from a potentially very harsh world."
"'Cause you're a giant."
"Yeah."
"How old are your parents?"
"My Da's fifty-nine and my mam is sixty."
"They look a lot fucking younger."
"Roderick."
"Kirby, coffee!" My Mam yelled up from downstairs, "You're Uncle David's here!"
"Oh wow, didn't hear my Da call him."
"You expected to hear a phone call from up here?"
"No, they live down the street. Trust me if my family wanted to, we could fill a small town."
"Big family."
"Big but loving family, mostly."
We walked downstairs, getting our drinks from the kitchen, as per the usual my Mam had put them in 'relevant' graphic mugs, mine reading 'Head in the clouds. Feet on the ground.' and Roddy's reading 'Scots know best'. We walked into the living room and Rod got a look at my Uncle David.
A Chubby man with a darker tan than my Da but only slightly shorter despite being older than my Da, as if that has any holding in height.
"Well now, who's this bright young spark hanging out with our Kirby?"
"Uncle David, this is Roddy Piper. Rod, this is my Uncle David."
"Hello, Sir, nice to meet ya."
Hours passed by like minutes just talking and laughing, when we noticed it getting darker, we said our goodbyes and then the conversation over dinner started.
"Take-out or are we cooking?" My Da quizzed
"Well, what've we got in the fridge?" I inquired, quizzing him back
"Enough for a fry up."
"Then I'll make us all a fry up."
"Ya sure?"
"Yeah, unless you're dead-set on having take-out."
"Well if we go down now, we can get a big pizza that'll last today and tomorrow and we won't have to cook."
"Good point, Da. Let's go then."
My Da quickly put his boots on and we headed down the street, bought a big square 32" pizza, walking home with a smaller box of garlic bread slices atop the massive pizza box. We ate and finished our drinks before going to bed for the night, my parents in their room, the straggler in a bucket on the landing and Rod sleeping next to me, or at least we should have been sleeping.
"Kirby?"
"Yes, Rod."
"I love ya, ya know that, right?"
"Yes, I love you too, what's wrong?"
"Part of me wants to be part of your family and another part of me wants to say it's somehow all a lie."
"Well, why do you feel that way?"
"I guess, ugh, no I can't talk about it. But, I've got to say this, just to make sure you understand me. I left home when I was thirteen because I hated how my parents treated me and I needed to get out of that situation. I think I'm just expecting your family to be the same deep down."
"Rod, I love you, I truly do, but, my parents are the way they seem, they're nice but we do get angry, me and my Da have had so many shouting matches I can't count how many times I wanted to run away when I was growing up, but we moved past it. We grew and changed because we knew how badly it would screw the three of us up. My Da's easily angered, my Mam is easily upset, I'm easily anxious."
"Am I going to be stared at on Sunday, baby?"
"Probably. But then again, no one's really used to me having a partner because they never met Erik, and he was never my boy-"
Rod cut me off with a rough kiss, quickly silencing me.
"I thought I said, don't bring him up."
"Roderick Piper. My parents are down the hall and I thought we agreed to only da that when we want to have kids."
"Yes, but that doesn't mean we can't make out."
"You bring up a good point, come here."
I pulled him into a kiss, intertwining my fingers with his short locks, feeling his hands under my shirt, skin against skin. Somehow the only person I want near me at any point from now onwards in a any way is him, it's like I've forgotten the feeling of anyone else's touch against my skin. He makes me feel sane, and understood, like he is truly 'the one' but only time will tell, I guess.
When we awoke the next morning, Rod's forehead was lightly touching mine.
"Roddy," I whispered, "Roddy, honey."
"What is it babe?"
"Wake up hon."
"Five more minutes, you elven beauty."
I let Rod go back to sleep and got up, dressing myself in some casual clothes (black overalls and a black graphic T-shirt with a skull on it) and headed to the garage/gym space my dad had built.
I didn't realise that half an hour had passed until a knock at the door broke my concentration on my current workout.
"Come in, door's open."
"Hey Sweetheart."
"Hi, Rod, whaddya want?" I asked, breathless.
"Ya Mam sent me to talk to ya, said ya didn't get any breakfast, wanted me to give ya this," He chucked over a sealed bottle of chocolate milk, "Ya alright baby girl?"
"I'm fine, I just missed being able to just come in here and work out."
"So, this is how ya trained when ya were younger?"
"Yeah, I started wrestling when I was sixteen and before that I did kick-boxing, gymnastics, rugby, football, anything really," I took a swig of the milk, "One day, my uncle Tony, took me and my cousins to see a wrestling show, when I was about fourteen, and I decided that's what I wanted to do."
"So you focused on wrestling from that point onwards, ya never wanted to do anything different?"
I took another swig of the milk, letting out a vague 'mmn' before putting it down so I could answer him, "Wasn't until I was, twenty-five that I started thinking, about what the rest of my life holds for me, I would like a house of my own, and someone to share it with. Potentially a small but traditional wedding, a couple of kids, maybe a pet or tw-"
Rod pulled me into a rough but loving kiss, cupping my cheek with one hand and wrapping his opposite arm around my waist. A couple seconds later he pulled away, kissing my neck and whispering out the words, "Mo chridhe, I promise you I'll do whatever I can to give you everything you need in life. A family. A home. A traditional wedding. Kids. Anything, you name it and I will try my hardest to give it to you, and even if I don't succeed, you'll still have my love. Forever and ever, mo chridhe, I mean it."
"Roddy, I … I have no words good enough to describe how safe and happy, and sane you make me feel."
"I don't need words. Actions speak a million times louder."
"C'mere you," I pulled him into another kiss, intertwining my left hand with his hair and wrapping my right arm around his waist, feeling his arms around my waist slowly pull me as close as he could get me, letting the quiet calm of the morning slowly turn into a small amount of chaos as he pulled away with that devilish grin on his face. It's shocking how that grin can make me feel intrigued but scared at the same time.

I'M HERE FOR ALL OF THIS!!!
Amira poisoning Guin's mom is perfect, I love it!!! Especially since she's probably right -- if Guin's mom had a son, that would probably be the 1 Roderick went for as his heir (although how ironic would it be if his strong affections for his first wife really did stem from guilt that she died ++ romanticizing their relationship now that she's gone to the point where guin is his fav kid now aka amira actually made guin more of a competitor for edmund for the crown than if wife #1 had stayed alive laskjfalsdjf --- update: just read the whole of your comment and you basically said this laksjflaksdjflasdf )
BUT ANYWAY!! Yeah, I do like that she went to those extreme lengths to ensure her son's future!!! (I'm guessing Edmund probs doesn't know about that??)
I feel like Edmund has some complicated feelings re his mom??? Like, I'm sure he knows where she and his uncles came from and he's never known that life and even though he's def more aware of what that looks like than his half-siblings, I do think that his position growing up has sheltered him enough that he definitely isn't afraid of one day loosing all of it??? Like he does know that there's a possible future where arthur becomes emperor after their dad dies and they are left w/ nothing but he doesn't fear that future for the same reasons his mom does, y'know?
I do think he's known his entire life that his mom wants him to be king after his dad and I think he was pretty clear as a kid that he didn't want it. And I think when he first started having tutors, etc, he might have even slacked off as a form of rebellion to the idea of it HOWEVER, I think that her tactics of telling him that "he's a failure" or that "he embarrassed her" went a long way in motivating him and yeah, at the end of the day he just wants to prove to his mom, his dad, and himself that he can do this (and also justify his uncle's faith in him) but yeah he still just wants to win the game of succession but then somehow get out of doing the actual job once he's proven himself alskdfjalsfj
(although I think, if that time actually came that walking away from it all would be harder than he thinks it would be now b/c at that point, I think he would want to prove that not only can he become emperor, but he can do a great job of it too, y'know?)
Also love the idea that she's tried to kill Arthur and Sebastian before alskfjlasjflasfj and has been poisoning Marian to keep her from having any more kids (#ruthless!) I also always imagined that Amira also fostered that rivalry that Edmund has with Arthur and Guin???? IDK how she feels about him and his relationships with his other two siblings but I feel like anytime he and Arthur, especially, seem to be getting on Amira stirs the pot!
I do think Edmumd cares a lot about his mom and wants her to be happy, but he also knows that what she ultimately wants doesn't really align with what he wants? I do think he struggles with being the perfect son for her but also being himself? And I think he probably hides some of himself from her sometimes because he does want to please her, but doesn't always feel like he's meeting her expectations? (amira pointing out his failures really doesn't help this haha)
OOC | Amira & Edmund
hiya, it's ya mama!! ummm idk how to tell you this but...godfrey's the fun parent klajdsflkjsf amira is too busy tryna one-up varys at court and being all 'you embarrassed me today' when edmund fails as a motivational tactic lkasjflkjdf (and we've already discussed the kind of dad ~roderick is akljsdfkjsf) BUT don't let her fool you!! where roderick is all fire, amira is all ice and if you touch her kid you WILL quietly and painfully die -- not that she'd ever tell edmund that beyond smth along the lines of 'no one else matters, only us' bc her parenting is a++++
ANYWAY!! edmund is 100% the product of her ambition like...lol she don't give a flying fuck abt roderick! as far as she is concerned, roderick is a tool in multiple senses! ;D honestly, edmund ~is the person she cares most abt (sorry, bros!), but like...he's #2 in her life bc the thing she cares abt most isn't a person at all -- it is ultimately revenge/power (they're the same thing to her -- miss thing is a slytherin ;DDD) <333333 she's def got a 'the world is at your feet or its at your throat' mentality so she ~does 100% see gaining revenge/power as protecting edmund in her own weird way bc she's been at the world's mercy before and she'd do absolutely anything to make sure that edmund never is -- like, making him emperor is, in her eyes, the only way to keep what happened to ~her and to godfrey from happening to her baby, but that is still 100% more important than his happiness!!! and she would 100% acknowledge this openly there is no dancing around it alkjsfkljsdf like, she doesn't really believe in gods as such (just that there ~are super powerful beings out there that it pleases men to call gods), but if she did, that whole 'god doesn't want you to be happy, he wants you to be strong' quote is 10000000% amira's whole mentality so that's fun!!!
anyway, she's def raised edmund as mommy's lil warlord <3 he must be strong if he wishes to survive what's to come!!! (she also thinks roderick is actually weak af and that's why things have gone as abysmally as they have) also lowkey think amira might've poisoned guin's mom bc she was worried she would have a son </3 and amira can compete with marian for roderick's affections, but not w his og empress, so she didn't think edmund would stand a chance of ruling if the og wife ever had a son. like...amira's been looking towards this war since the first day she clapped eyes on roderick and said 'imma seduce that man' alskdjfkldf also tbh i don't think it actually ~was black magic that produced edmund but i think ~amira thinks it was alksjdfaljksdf so!! that's fun ksjdfaklsjfaksdf amira: you know what really spices things up in the bedroom? black magic babies!
ANYYYYYYWAY, she had edmund specifically and intentionally to create the next emperor and then stupid marian beat her to the punch (i.e., hearing about marian's pregnancy is when amira turned to black magic to ensure she'd conceive) but then amira really fucked up and started to actually care about edmund!!!! #whoops so she was like 'no more babies! i will not become weaker!' and that's why edmund has no full siblings aldksjfskldjf
so, re: amira's opinions abt the future!! she isn't really worried about guin becoming empress bc she honestly can't see roderick w all ~his hangups ultimately wanting guin to rule, what w being a woman, and besides -- and much more importantly bc amira doesn't give af what roderick wants tbqh -- guin obv doesn't wanT the throne so she aint gonna fight for it after roderick dies (in fact, bc of this amira is 100% fine w roderick picking guin -- she'll just oops! tragically die of grief after losing roderick, just like her mama did, and then BOOM edmund for emperor aljsflkjsf), but arthur ~will fight for the throne. sebastian's hardest to nail down, but he ~is male, so ppl of the varmont empire might still amass behind him, so amira means to axe him too someday, just for good measure
i do think once or twice, she has tried to kill arthur and sebastian when amira thought roderick was on the brink of making a decision she didn't like (yeah? that one really really srs childhood illness arthur had? poisoned by his stepmama, but tragically -- tho he nearly died -- he pulled through after all :/) but i do think she was only halfhearted even then bc i think she believes that the competition makes edmund stronger so his bros get to live a lil longer ig alsdjflksdf but she probs has been poisoning marian for awhile, just enough to keep her from conceiving again lkajsdfkljsdf bc amira realized too late that poisoning wife #1 actually made guin's position stronger w roderick and she def doesn't want that for arthur and seb, so marian gets to live lkajsdlfkjdjf

Bette's thoughts on Jacob, Catherine Hamilton, Nathan, and Philip kane. Feel free to toss in Roderick and Betsy
HECK YEAH, KANE FAMILY. I also tossed in Addie Kane, because, uh, I love her & Addie being a part of the Gotham Kanes is a hill I will die on.
Jacob Kane:
We’ve actually got canon to go on here, so that’s pretty fun
Like, okay, we gotta acknowledge that Jake did visit her so often that people at the hospital thought he was Bette’s dad, so he obviously does care about her
The issue is that they both suck at communication
Jake just wants her to be safe, but Bette is convinced he thinks she’s just... not as good as Kate
Like, there’s a scene in Batwoman (2011), where Jake has her meditate & it’s supposed to be a break from training, but it irritates the hell out of Bette’s injury & she just... doesn’t say anything. She thinks it’s some kind of test which is more of a testament to childhood trauma than anything else oh worm
I know we didn’t get to see Bette in that big ‘Tec arc with Jake. She didn’t show up in ‘Tec at all, we don’t acknowledge West Point Bette here, but! But. I think Bette would’ve been pissed as hell. She would not vibe with what he’s doing & wouldn’t hesitate to make that very clear
And unlike Kate, Bette’s, like, a debate champion. She doesn’t manage to change his mind but damn, if she doesn’t make him feel like shit
Jacob never tells her, because he’s convinced that it was overconfidence that got Bette hurt by the Hook, but she genuinely impresses him. Like, Bette’s a badass, yeah, but pretty much everyone in their family is. No, what impresses him most about her is the fact that she never gives up
Like. I think we need to acknowledge that Bette is beyond stubborn, to an insane extent. She was flatlining but held on & her first words after that were, ‘can I keep the mask?’. This girl is in this ‘till the day she dies & she’s hellbent on making sure that’s in the far future. She’s been told by pretty much everybody she looks up to, everyone she loves, that she should quit, but she never listens. It’s fucking amazing but he’s also constantly worried about her.
So, yeah, he’s a little in awe of her, but would it kill her to take a break? Probably not, he’d love it if she would do it without him having to keep her under house arrest
Catherine Hamilton:
Catherine’s main concern is making sure that Bette does not die
Bette does not make this easy. She runs headfirst into danger, she’s an adrenaline junkie & she’s been a vigilante since she was a kid. Stopping her isn’t exactly easy
And Catherine gets that she can’t. Bette’s gonna be in this for the rest of her life, but the least she can do is make sure that she knows she has somewhere safe to stay when things get too much, somebody that’ll listen & patch her up
Bette’s quite... hesitant on this. Again, she’s got a mountain of trust issues
Catherine Hamilton would fight Kathy Kane, okay? Like, end of the day, Catherine loves Bette. She’s part of the family & she hates seeing her hurt & that’s what Bette’s been doing for years. She might be good at hiding it, but it’s true
So Catherine is determined to be there for Bette, whether she likes it or not
(And Bette does kind of like it. She adores having somebody that just... supports her. Completely unprompted, because she’s family, because it’s right)
Nathan Kane:
Bette doesn’t have many memories of Nathan
He died when she was about eight years old? So, while she does remember him a little, it’s not a lot
He was pretty nice to Bette when she was a kid, especially since Kathy seemed to adore her
Absolutely spoiled Bette on her birthday every year, without any hesitation
He probably would’ve been one of her favourite family members if he’d, you know, lived
Philip Kane:
Bette didn’t really get to know him
He roped Bruce into babysitting her & she’d see him in passing but, uh, yeah, she didn’t know her Uncle Philip all that well
He... didn’t really care for his sibling’s kid. Like... I think Bette’s parents were pretty cut off from the Kane family until Martha died
Bette did attend his funeral, though
Addie Kane:
Aunt Addie is Bette’s favourite aunt, okay, she just is
Bette found out about Slade being Addie’s ex-husband when she was, like, nineteen & it was one a ‘okay, yeah, that makes sense, explains why he did not murder me’
Addie tells Bette to never join the military & Bette listens because that plotline is stupid & I hate it
I would kill for a rivalry between Addie & Kathy, two heads of massive spy organizations
Bette still visits her Aunt Addie. They’re not as close as they used to be, since Addie kinda went AWOL after what happened to Joey, but she’s definitely one of the better family members that Bette has
She also finds fighting Deathstroke absolutely hilarious now. If you think that Addie hasn’t been feeding her blackmail material for years, you are very wrong
Bette loves her aunt & goes to see her at least every two months. Joey is usually there too, she loves it

there’s a dorm building named holbrook and he claims that was a great great great uncle. just far back enough that no one’s going to research but not so old that he’d be tied to the founding
claims that like his grandma went to yates but none of the society kids would recognize the name because she was too focused on her studies to join

SEBASTIAN VARMONT, PRINCE OF THE VARMONT EMPIRE / JULIAN MORRIS
♛ Age: (25) ♛ Relationships: Roderick Varmont (father), Marian Varmont (mother), Arthur Varmont (brother), Cassandra Varmont (sister), Amira Varmont (step-mother), Guinevere Varmont (half-sister), Edmund Varmont (half-brother), Bartholomew Varmont (great uncle), Ciara Varmont, Eoin Varmont (cousins), Tristan Calainon (friend), Aoife Malconaire (friend/interest)
the middle child three times over!
he's the middle of roderick's five children, the middle of his three boys, and the middle of marian's three kids
100% the quietest and most bookish of his siblings
if one of them were ever to be forgotten somewhere and no one would notice, it would be this guy
at the same time, he's definitely the peace maker!!! as well as the mediator and even guinevere trusts his judgement
loves history, astronomy and philosophy
has slowly befriended aoife (although it was no easy task considering her shy exterior)
tbh he's kind of in love with her and would like nothing more than to court her, but he isn't sure how she feels yet and wouldn't want to ruin the friendship that they have established
a strong sense of justice and honestly just wise beyond his years
everyone expects him to his great uncle bartholomew as hand to the next ruler of his father's empire
he does feel that a grave injustice has been to done several of the countries his father has conquered, but especially here in astaira where they were defeated due to having their armies stretched thin after defending against another invasion
he knows his father would never concede to it, but he believes that the elinora should be reinstated as queen -- even if that means astaira is still a kingdom under the varmont empire
he doesn't think he will ever has his father's ear on such matters, but he hopes that one day he will have one of his siblings -- whoever ends up ruling after their father
sebastian is one of the few children of roderick's who is neither vying nor has a claim to the throne and he's more than happy to keep it that way
what he doesn't know, is that his older brother was secretly sired by another man and that he is actually roderick's eldest son ...
TAKEN BY LIZZY.

Now that we have names for the twins, do you have any headcanons for them as individuals? Like as Giles and Roderick instead of just "the twins."
Alright these aren’t all about them as individuals, but we don’t talk about the twins much here so I wanted to give some general ones, too:
They both end up with crests, much to the chagrin of everyone. I’m not sure how crest inheritance works exactly, but assuming it’s genetic it just makes sense that the identical twins would both end up with one.
Dimitri and Dedue were not going to test for crests, but it became painfully difficult to ignore the fact that both of the twins needed toys made out of bricks because they broke everything else.
They both kind of develop a favorite parent. Roderick’s is Dedue, and Giles’s is Dimitri.
Of the two, Roderick tends to be more brash/reckless/aggressive than his brother. This leads him to doing quite a few bizarre things when he’s little, like trying to cut all of his hair off to imitate Dedue’s style (and failing miserably because he’s a kid with safety scissors).
Giles secretly loves romance novels. He’ll die before he lets his brother find that out, though. Honestly 4/5 Dimidue kids were just doomed to be hopeless romantics from the start.
They have some attachment issues with each other. There’s plenty of space for them to have their own rooms back home, but they still choose to share. When they get to the academy they demand rooms right beside each other, and will frequently have sleepovers in each other’s rooms
If we want to get angsty, the attachment issues are the direct result of an assassination attempt on one of their lives, which was only stopped because the other was there to call for help.
They hate getting confused for the other, so they will frequently do things to distinguish themselves appearance-wise.
They both ended up with the Blaiddyd crest, and they both ended up as Omegas, so they got their mom’s piss-poor luck when it comes to heat regularity. They actually don’t sync up as often as you’d think.
They follow in their Auntie Dorothea’s footsteps and host the best Omega slumber parties while they’re at the academy (it basically becomes the Blue Lion house tradition tbh.)
Everyone expected a dual house leader situation when they attended the academy, but Gil is much better at that kind of stuff so Rory decided to step down from consideration as house leader.
Roderick picked up some of his dad’s cooking skills. Giles is pretty handy at gardening. They make a pretty good team in that respect.
Roderick picked up the axe and Giles has an affinity for gauntlets. Dimitri is rather depressed that three (three!) of his children snubbed him on teaching them lances (since Nadya decided she wanted to learn swords from Uncle Felix). Edward miiiiight only be using a lance because Dimitri was so eager to teach one of his kids something about fighting.

Thoughts on the Jagen Club (FEH-centric)
So I drafted this last year, when I started playing with “Depression Meals” and then “This Could Be Us,” then sat on it for about a year. The rundown on Gharnefs compiled by @airlock inspired me to finish this up and get it out because it ain’t doing me any good sitting in my drafts, is it? This basically just served as my initial round of impressions on how FE Heroes was treating my beloved class of “veteran horsey-type knights” aka Jagens and why the Heroes representation inspired me to write crack ‘fic and less cracky explorations of the gang.
So, here goes...
Jagen: Good Grandpa
Jagen rocks. No, seriously, I love this guy and I love what Heroes did with him visually and character-wise (unit-wise... well, none of these are top-tier units and we will leave it at that). See, one gets the feeling Jagen's had a really good life up to at least late middle age. He came from a small but prosperous kingdom where life was good, he served a worthy king, and basically he's got joie de vivre animating him even in his obvious old age.
(This is one reason I kind of view Jagen as the actual ideal knight in FE. If you're a young knight and you end up like him, good on you. You end up like some of these others, my condolences. Kids like Roderick and Silas should take note.)
He's not that complex-- just a good-hearted old warhorse stomping around to prove he can keep up with the colts. My favorite line is probably the one he uses for a bad level-up, though-- a bracing shot of self-contempt: “I have dishonored my rank and my country.”
Gunther: Bad Grandpa
He looks like Axe Jagen. Past middle age, thinks himself as a parent-figure to his liege Corrin, offers to chat over tea. But unlike Jagen, his kingdom's a mess, his life is shot through with tragedy (the scar on his face is, as usual, representative of more than skin damage), and Gunther lets it all hang out during one of his specials quotes: “I will have my revenge!” That and the line “My armor has known...so much blood” hints that there’s more to this guy than tea parties. So what’s the deal with Gunther? Uh... depends on which route(s) of Fates you played. Heroes doesn’t really pick a “side” as far as Gunther goes so IDK look up Revelation on a wiki I guess. It’s wild.
But the way he presents himself is quite engaging! Would have tea with, etc.
Titania: Team Mom
Confident and chatty Titania is the resident ray of sunshine among veteran horsey-riders. She’s happy to take up menial tasks because they gotta be done, but she’s definitely working for a cause on a level beyond “money talks” or even abstract honor. She’s into training, but for the stated reason that practice and being on top of one’s game keeps one alive, and Titania is very, very invested in everyone staying alive. Training isn’t a quirk so much as it is part of her overall practical and constructive approach to life and duty... though there are a couple of hints that Titania’s beginning to feel her age (she’s like, 30!).
And then we get her Valentine’s alt, Warm Knight Titania, who keeps the practical “money can’t buy happiness” approach to life but is very obviously all wrapped up in the feelings for her Commander that went unspoken during his lifetime... and the prospect of a second chance thanks to all these alternate timelines colliding.
Overall just as Jagen IMO represents a damn good representation of an ideal knight at the end of the road, Titania-- despite or perhaps because she quit being an actual knight-- is a beautiful integration of Duty and Training and Covert Romantic Feelings and Familial Affection without coming down too hard on any one element.
Frederick: Wacky Uncle
As a 3DS-era character there's not much surprising about Frederick for anyone who's played Awakening. Endearingly voiced by Kyle Hebert, Freddy adores his lord Chrom and hates disorder and bear meat. He’s got an alt, summoned from a beach vacation, who is obsessively cleaning up seashells and confessions to “sinning” by which he apparently means taking a break.
I admit to holding a subversive view of Frederick in that his zeal to be a great knight is undermined by all of his tics and quirks and that's part of why he and everyone else ended up dead in the original timeline-- and Heroes doesn't change my mind on that point. His fixation on clearing the garden weeds and rising early to pick up pebbles sound less like doing the menial tasks that somebody’s gotta do and more like make-work that Frederick does because something compels him to. Still, Frederick's rocking so much joie de vivre of his own that it's impossible to not like the guy. The man likes what he does, what can I say?
Still should’ve had “Pick a god and pray” in his arsenal of voiced lines somewhere.
Finn: Hot Mess #1
When Finn-- the only member of this crew whose home games never came out worldwide-- hit FEH I remember one Redditor snarking that they didn’t understand why other fans were so excited about another Frederick-style “lapdog” character. Finn indeed presents as the latest model number of “stoic and dutiful knight” on the surface... and then the trauma, debilitating melancholy, and lack of self-preservation leaks out line by line (and given two of these tell-tale lines are at 1* rarity, it’s meant to be obvious).
His identity is all wrapped up not just in some conception of being a knight but in his lance (a gift from his late lord Quan, of course)-- an object, a tool. He's at least two decades younger than Jagen (and Gunter), but whereas the old guys are determined to prove they've got life in them yet, Finn's past caring if he survives the next battle. Unlike Titania, he’s not fondly reminiscing about the happy little moments raising his adolescent liege Leif or his “daughter”/ ward Nanna. He’s not interested in pulling weeds or doing the laundry-- he’s anxious to know the layout of the castle in case it gets torched... when he’s not obsessively repairing that lance, that is. He’s got zero quotes on the value of training compared to least three indicating he's fine with ending up dead. So yeah, Finn’s basically Antimatter Titania. Meanwhile he’s voiced to sound about twenty years older than he looks, which seems to be deliberate for both NoJ and NoA.
Finn’s more like a cautionary tale to the Rodericks and Silases of the world-- sure, you can be this guy, but who’d want to be? He sure looks pretty in his attack art though...
Seth: Hot Mess #2
Ooh, boy. Seth has what's arguably the greatest storyline scene FEH has afforded a supporting character in all of Book I... possibly in all the mainline Heroes chapters. It evokes his rebuke to Ephraim in Eph's version of Ruled By Madness and it's awesome. But the Seth we get in Heroes is a very... intriguing... look at what's underneath the shiny surface of the Silver Knight. There’s some Training stuff, a sense the man has Opinions but is struggling to stay in his place, a reference to the wound he got from Valter and an admission he’s not fun to be around. And then it gets a bit weird.
“Do not trouble yourself over my well- being. I would play the pawn gladly, would it bring us victory.“
He isn't just unattached to his own survival the way Finn is, Seth is actively advising the Summoner to keep enough distance to make it easier for them to send Seth to die. Repeatedly. Maybe the pain of his half-healed wound is driving him mad, maybe he's afraid unspoken feelings for Eirika will turn him to the dark side, but Seth is kinda messed up. And whereas honestly every iffy thing about Finn was already there in the Jugdral games and their side materials, Seth’s FEH presentation came as a shock to me and I’ve seen it flat-out called “Out of Character” elsewhere. The hint of a playful side from his support chain with Natasha, for instance, is nowhere to be found here. It’s odd and kind of compelling and yet not terribly likable, in my opinion. Frederick needs to chill and Finn needs a hug (and probably some anti-depressants), but Seth... I dunno. He needs friends, maybe? Cormag when.
“I answer destiny's call!” is a damn good line, though.
Bonus Clive and Mathilda (The Lovebirds):
The Legendary Knight and her Idealistic boyfriend are not technically Jagens (that’s Mycen, subverting the archetype almost as soon as it was established), but they’re veteran cavalier/paladin types in their late 20s, likely of an age with Seth and Frederick at least and not many years younger than Titania and Finn. So, how do they measure up personality-wise?
Clive and Mathilda have the advantage that their Heroes incarnations hit at virtually the same time their FE15 selves did, so there's not as much revelatory about them. Same VAs (Grant George is fantastic), consistent designs, consistent personalities. Clive struggles a bit with his dilemmas from FE15 and has a hilarious line where he’s taking care of his own horse because the Order of Heroes apparently has no staff (for the record, he says he enjoys caring for the horse). Mathilda meanwhile has a couple of quotes about her love for Clive and quite a bit about her concerns regarding Clive’s sister Clair. They’re not very extreme personalities-- even Titania, well-rounded as she is, comes across as more extreme than Clive & Mathilda thanks to her open zeal for life. I’m not quite sure how they’d come across to someone who hadn’t played FE15, as the nature of Clive’s doubts in particular are merely hinted at here.
They’re good supporting characters but there’s a reason my Jagen-club stories don’t use them as focal points.
Not available: Mycen, Arran, Oifey, Marcus... after two damn years.
