ok back to hermpires! so i originally was gonna take an empire from s2 and just insert grian into it, but while browsing through the esmp s2 wiki i came across/remembered hermitopia and my brain went yep! this one. so i thought a bit about what grian would do if he was an empires smp member and how hermitopia would happen, and i think grian would crash the economy on purpose. i mean it almost already happened when the hermitpires crossover happened so i dont think im too far off. i think grian originally exported something simple, like maybe sugarcanes or mud, something easy to farm yknow, but then i dunno got bored or something so he made a couple more farms. then kept making more farms. then the hermitopia we all know and love happened!

actually maybe hermitopia isnt grians first empire. i think grian has a separate empire but decided to invite his friends to help him make some farms and then it just kept going. then hermitopia happened. i like the collaboration aspect of hermitopia so i think thats how that happens. hermitopia isnt necessarily grian's but its under his command so it gets called his. (isnt there a word for this? was it vassalage? i think its vassalage)

with that in mind i went with a robot-y grian because grumbot and a snazzy cool suit because business man (sidenote im looking over my pre art notes and one of them is just capitalism man and. yeah! not wrong). i gave him more steampunk-y wings than the usual feathery ones cause that fit better. i gave him a crown not really sure why but it fits since without it the design was more Just A Guy but with it he's more Emperor yknow. the buttons have a g on it because he would and an (attempted) gold trim cause that looked nice and fancy. originally he was gonna have four wings cause fun fact four wings is part of my base grian design but four wings kind of crowded the drawing so i didnt include them (sad) and i also didnt include the tail hes supposed to have because i couldnt find a good way to add it in with the pose. but in my heart he has both four wings and a tail

now why magazine style artwork? i 'unno. i thought itd look cool. and it does!! it looks SO cool!!! im so proud of it. recap magazine!! because of course im gonna make a hermitcraft recap reference are you kidding me recap is practically already a magazine reporting what gossip is happening on the hermitcraft server on any given week. its very specifically volume 9 issue 34 because thats when the crossover happened season 9 week 34 babey we love little esoteric details hell yeah!! i looked up how magazine covers work and its supposed to be like, main article big and smaller supporting side articles just kinda floating around so i did that!! and i made them funney references because of course i did! local bard catches scurvy because you cannot convince me that oli orionsound would not catch scurvy he would. does god is gay is a reference to that does bruno mars is gay nonsense article that makes me laugh everytime specifically in reference about mr smallish bean because he. has so many children. and none of them as far as i know from the lady server members theyre all lovechilds from gay lovers its hysterical and hilarious. quit your job join our sun cult is about the dawn empire because thatse the vibe that empire gives me and i think its funny. also!! thats hermitopia!! in the background!! i got the image off of the empires smp wiki and just Biggen'd it and it makes a bomb ass background hell yeah ^-^!!

what were each of the idols childhoods like?

Hmm well Marie and Callie shared the same sorta childhood! As the way I write their family is that, Marie's parents Nori and Don and Callie's mom Umi raised them together! Umi needed helped after all, and so Callie and Marie were inseparable- and would have lots of shenanigans out in Calamari County. Every time Craig would visit, they would tackle him and beg for stories and stuff- which would result in Callie getting recruited at Agent 1.

As for Pearl- Her stage dialogue is always mentioning her dad but not her mom. So I imagine either her mom is dead, or just, out of the picture. I'd like to think her and her dad got/get along quite well though! And despite being busy he tried to spend as much time with her as possible. However, I'd also like to imagine he spoiled her rotten as a result so she was a bit of a brat as a little squid- and with her superpowered voice, this made tantrums a bit terrifying for the poor fella. I'd like to think the brattiness wore off when she lost that singing contest though. A humbling moment.

Marina- well she was in the army. She mentions nothing of her parents ever so I go with the hc that she might've been separated from them pretty early as her prodigy work took her places in the octarian military? But also thanks to her prowess her family got to be taken up to better places as well, so a bit more pressure to do well? I dunno. I think Marina was forced to grow up a little fast and I think thats sad but yknow, suitably tragic.

Big Man I think was also a little prodigy boy. Just, like when you seen 9 year olds playing perfectly on the piano. He was also a Big Mamas boy too yknow. Like he and his dad get along splendidly but he loved his mom a lot. He'd have lots of movie nights with her, and now that she's passed, he has those movie nights with his dad now.

Shiver I imagine flip flopped between attempts at responsibility vs "oh god this kid is definitely going to jail in the future". Like, they'd practice all their family's traditions and then when everyone's backs were turned, they'd run off to go learn how to gamble from an elder. However the need to uphold these traditions and this aura of 'good heir to the clan' would eventually eat at Shiver until middle school where they decide to be silly and goofy again.

Frye had to take care of her siblings a lot, this we know from canon. But she also was swamped with dance classes too- and probably other things to learn from her clan. I'd like to think this frustrated her a bit as a kid, but her grandparents were able to help balance the work out with her- her grandpa being a bit of a bad influence and being like "if your parents get to skip out on their responsibilities once in a while to do something happy you should too!" causing Frye's streak of skipping out on her dance classes to occur. She'd never skip out on her siblings though, which helped brew a very subtle yet genuine feel for what 'someone in charge' should do.

ive been thinking of one of the batbros with memories of aventurine because. okay so yknow birdwatchers the discord server. i took a word cause its my birthday word (which is starting to be soon) but the original idea i had for it isnt getting the brainworks going so i wanted to mix it with my recent fixation which is aventurine (well actually hes starting to get a little old since ive been sitting on this idea for awhile but hHH)

but THEN i felt like i actually had a decent idea so now im sharing it to you because. i dunno. i dont really feel like i can do it justice? write it well??? (itd be my first hsr work LMFAO)

so uh. spoilers for dick's backstory, as well as 2.1 penacony. ALSO Danganronpa 2 because comparisons (also that anime with dr2 cast i dont remember the name)

aventurine as dick (slowly getting memories over time) (like child. kakavasha. teen/adult, aventurine.)

his luck has him notice the tampering of the wire whatever it was called that led to his parents death. he tries to tell them, they dont believe him. hes lucky enough to be the survivor. (think… you know that one oracle i think apollo blessed/cursed?? cant remember if it was first blessed but then something happened and then cursed or if it was at the same time. she could tell the future except no one would ever believe her.)

he has memories of space travel. of people outside in space. hes shocked to find theres no interaction of the IPC here, theres been no sign of life outside of this planet 'Earth' (..and was it really such a strange thought to imagine that 'aliens' could look just the same as them..? he wrinkled his nose at the ugly green thing with wide eyes. it was unnerving.)

he finds signs of a 'space enjoyers!' or whatever club and he goes and they're just like 'what are you talking about? its all just. fiction.. even we know that.'

i cant remember what year it takes place in and if the moon landing has happened yet (or what year hsr is in but i imagine far far in the future)

I dont really know how aventurine's luck works. and. i. honestly have not been paying too much attention throughout the story. my one exception was penacony, aventurine was the SOLE reason i paid attention in penacony ive only played up to 2.1 (thats not because he faked his death, its more that my recent-est fixation now is fanfiction because penacony has so much stuff going on it hurt my brain that i took a break) cause hes lucky but he gets. branded.. maybe its like nagito's but his is confusing too? (nagito is the ultimate lucky student in danganronpa 2, which is basically a talent that person has)

remember in the anime i think he got hit by a truck or something. or maybe that was after. he got hurt, went to like the vending machine, it dropped all of its drinks for him (so good luck), and then maybe it was after he got hit by a truck. uh

no it was a car (sorry im too used to truck-kun LMFAO) actually wait it was a truck somehow i only saw the head and thought 'huh thats a normal car' my dumbass

cause yknow how nagito kermit sewer slide-d because he wanted the 'traitor' i think to win? (by basically making one of the other students be the one to have killed him so they wouldnt be able to win guessing who did it unless by pure chance) except his luck backfired on him and the one who ended up having killed him was the traitor, which WAS able to be figured out and thats how they survived

so was it something like that? where he wanted to die but his luck decided at that moment to just not? i wonder.

i havent even MADE it to penacony in game though (ive watched other ppl play) im like to the quest to where youre about to go to it but im too anxious to start. on the other hand i did the quest with topaz in jarilo(? Im SO BAD with names)

but i dont really know what the ipc does and if theyre well known. but im basing it off what topaz said (with a lot of skepticism cause aventurine)

maybe stone kicks down the door after not getting any response, just barely hearing pained gasps. probably thinks this is like a heart attack, with reader sweating and clutching at his body.

i feel like the transformation is painful. its unnatural, it isnt *supposed* to happen to humans. to *anyone*

maybe reader made like a deal with a demon, maybe it was some other forces. or maybe its a sick type of revenge by the ghosts that haunt him daily. but no matter whats the cause, it *hurts* and it *burns* and its completely changing the body and the mind.

maybe reader is rushed to the medbay on the property. maybe *nothing* is helping, nothing is going the way it should, no painkillers can help, they cant even put him in a medical coma to soothe the pain that way

maybe it last a day, a week. month, maybe? doesnt really matter. but during this time, reader changes so much hes unrecognizable.

im fond of the idea of reader maybe being around 5'9ish, so stone is the taller one. but that suddenly changing after this. what if hes ridiculously tall after this. 7 feet, maybe? i dunno.

how do we feel about hooves? fangs and claws? maybe a tail and horns? just small changes to the body to symbolize the loss of his humanity. reader cant easily hide this now, so he has to face it head on. face that he now stands out *so* much in a crowd. face how the reflection isnt *him* anymore

id love to know how stone would feel, but i struggle to get into his mind in this scenario. guilt, maybe? i mean, yeah, probably guilt. he cant do anything! his dearly beloved is in inhuman amounts of pain and he cant do anything!

the existence of godhood implies magic, and magic implies a LOT of fun stuff. maybe reader uses a cloaking spell to at least *look* human. to look like how he used to. but like all magic, its draining. even gods get tired. it takes a lot more for it to happen, but it still does

Criminal!Stone would still worship you, hell he'd be like "Your newly divine form is testament to the fact that you were, are, and will always be a god." It was painful to watch you go through that transformation and not be able to do anything, but now he's working on ways to become an even better worshipper.

Stone figures out how to comfort you in this divine form, he ensures the compound, your temple, is taken care of and is fit for the god you are. He ensures the rest of your followers (your goons) are just as reverent as he is, that they stay in line. No one dares to oppose you now.

Yknow I can stop thinking about when Rick said 'Adventuring is a metaphor for romantic partnership' It honestly adds another layer to when he was asking BP to adventure with him. To me when I rewatch that scene, I see Rick having feelings for Birdperson. It's just Rick doesn't know how to communicate how he actually feels out of fear of rejection, and thats why he got so defensive when BP didn't say yes.

I hope they dive a little deeper with those two. After all Rick cares so much about Birdperson even with his nihilistic mind set. Never once does Rick try to replace BP, or even truly consider it.

Plus BP is the only one who has called out Rick, and Rick just accepts it. I dunno I feel like he could really grow with a relationship with Birdperson. That is if he ever decides to commit, because even though Rick has gone through a lot of development through the series he still needs a lot of work for a stable, healthy relationship. Don't even get me started on the mans avoidant attachment style, and emotional baggage.

I feel like out of everyone, Rick would have the most stable relationship with him, so I hope they reconnect soon.

Hello all you may remember me from such bangers as 'show me the proxies in marble hornets' and 'and another thing'

oday um here to talk about how we've fucking regressed as a fandom since creepypasta and marble hornets on ao3 got. presumably merged as a fandom tags bc sorting for exclude crossovers still shows creepypasta fic. in fact doing that just now to confirm this, the very first fic on the list was creepypasta.

so obviously this is a huge pain in the ass for anyone who wants marble hornets fanfic and only marble hornets fanfic. you cant even remove creepypasta fics with exclude crossover, youd have to do it manually with filtering options not everyone knows how to use. and we shouldnt have to yknow? you should be able to go in your fandom tag on ao3 and find only that fandom and crossovers (which should be easily filtered out by exclude crossovers) same as here on tumblr crosstagging is a huge issue but the worst part of it is that the continuous crosstagging in recent years has caused the fandom tags to be merged (not fully as shown by the fact that the numbers for amount of fic in each tag is different) but enough that they're considered the same universe by ao3 which is. blatantly untrue.

creepypasta is a catchall term for internet short stories made by a community, marble hornets is one single webseries online. fuck the creepypasta fandom wouldnt be what it is without huge swaths of shit stolen from marble hornets (like yknow, the pages, the operator symbol, masky and hoodie) but that doesnt mean they are marble hornets fans that doesnt mean theyre making marble hornets content. that would be like saying that since fnaf and batim are kinda similar and the fans have an overlap that means theyre the same and should be tagged the same. they arent, and shouldnt be yknow?

also apologies this isnt the best post im kinda fried rn and im stuck on mobile

that not withstanding its fucking depressing. this did not used to be an issue. thr only fics tagged with both were generally easy to ignore or a real honest to god crossover, but now i swear you look at the mh tag on ao3 and the majority of the recent fics are crosstagged crp fics with giant tag lists that tack up the whole page and tag anyone who is so much as mentioned

and maybe this is a step too far here. but i really think this is bc of tiktok. the people crosstagging posts and fics seem to be the same type to complain avout the 'ao3/tumblr algorithm' not favoring them. but there is no algorithm, just annoyed fans who have to dig for their actual content because people dont have common decency anymore. theres an etiquette you need to follow for shit like this. like how would you feel if like. i dunno. fucking... genshin (just an example of a large fandom or whatever made a character cameo out of like jeff the killer and suddenly all the crp tags were filled with genshin posts not even related to or barely mentioning the character, just ti try and get more clicks?

youd be pretty fucking annoyed having to scroll past all that to find actual creepypasta content huh?

thats the same issue happening here, and honestly i think its a huge issue. for obvious reasons but also bc its so much harder to find mh content now that im sure its incredibly disheartening to be a creator in the fandom rn and foe the past few years. you work and make content for your rather small fandom and its buried under barely related shit, its gonna feel bad yknow? especially when that content gets more clicks bc. frankly theres more creepypasta fans than mh fans just bc of what creepypasta is format wise. its collectively made shortstories. you can like one or two and bc a crp fan, its not like that for mh

Okay uuuhh netflix avatar episode 1

i've got some thoughts which i think will be uuhhh reflected within the fandom? and the critiques? so i wanted to write them down

i might make other posts of this type after watching the other episodes (i'm watching it with friends and we only managed to watch the first one)(so i'm staying away from the tumblr tags for now cuz i dont want to be spoiled) but there's no guarantee

right off the bat i like that they are doing something "original". they're not just recreating the cartoon but in live action, certain details are changed and usually not for the worse(not for the better also but yknow they keep it same amount of nice)

i really like the bending so far, aside from the intro where they are??? cg??? for some reason??? (the people i mean ofc the bending is cgi)

expecially the earth bending, i'm half convinced the first scene was there only so the producers can go "see!!! its not like shyamalan!!! our earthbending actually looks good!!! no more 5 guys dancing haka to lift one rock!!!! see!! see!!!"

i like that they showed the attack on the air temple, what i didnt like was that while yes, sozins comet was visible, they didnt do the cool artsy turning-the-sky-red thing. i kinda missed it i really liked it in the show.

also the fire benders... dont seem all that empowered by it??? like i dunno man the amount of flames they were spewing in the rest of the episode was about the same as when they were killing the air nomads. (minus the iron maning up to the temple) i mean think of the last agni-kai think of ozai and his scorching fleet, the amount of fire that was present there! and then look at the amount of fire when sozin killed gyatso, now dont get me wrong it was a lot of flames still, but yknow, not the amount id expect from a comet empowered fire lord yfeel?

keeping it with bending i like that aang can fly(or yknow glide... fly-lite? he's not really ignoring gravity is he, he's kind of??? like if he had wings! yknow he has to work for it, you see how he manipulates the air around him to levitate, that's actually why i like it a lot, its not completely effortless), flying is the final form of airbending and he's an airbending master, i think it fits yknow?

which is why i really like that he teaches katara a bit, all bending forms have basically the same basics so for him to be the one to show her that is really cool imo

im a bit afraid about sokka, he has his moments yeah, i really like the "mysterious bald person" and "youre not getting me on that thi- AHHH" bits, but thats just it, they are few and far between i dont really think the rest of the episode has the tone for those jokes, the rest of it being weirdly serious. afraid very afraid. hopefully the later episodes will be better, lots of series have a rough first episode.

there's a lot of small character inconsistencies im afraid about, like there are small zuko bits where he's a tad bit too violent yknow? i was looking forward to him handing sokkas ass to him without using any firebending but then they had this weird stand off?? that ended with him almost fucking executing sokka? bit... concerning...

what i dont think will get ironed out is gran gran's name is no longer gran gran, but granny exposition, she's had maybe 2 lines of dialogue and they were both pure exposition, it was the only dialogue where i actually cringed, she is the worst character, like it would be okay if she played the role of a wise old character right but the words she said are just??? exposition. without any dolling up without any tombfoolery, just pure exposition.

that is to say im mostly concerned about a few details which i hope will get ironed out.

OOOO ILL START WITH THE SNEAKING INTO EACH OTHERS WORK QUESTION!!!

OKAY if it’s Tyler sneaking into the narrators place of work, it’s honestly not that hard for him to get in and walk past people without raising suspicion! He always walks around with so much confidence & looks like exactly he knows what he’s doing so honestly a lot of people he walks past in the building won’t give him a second glance (unless yknow they like what they see 😏)

He dresses up for the part too. He probably specifically got a nice business looking outfit for situations like this.

Lastly he’s all smug as the narrator tries to tell him to leave or he tries to keep on trying to hide him as people walk by his work area LOL like if Tyler was talking and someone was coming by, the narrator would put his hand over Tyler’s mouth to keep him quiet… which makes Tyler lick his hand or bite it :3

NOW IF THE NARRATOR WENT TO SNEAK INTO TYLERS WORK… honestly I think he’d be so nervous the first couple times but Tyler tells him to just try his best to look like he knows where he’s going and what he’s doing like he does when he sneaks into the narrators office! Which is kinda easier said then done for Jack.. he tries his best tho. That or he just fr sneaks around every corner the best he can so he’s not spotted. But honestly I could kinda see Tyler being such a smooth talker that his boss or whoever honestly doesn’t care if the narrator joins him up in the movie projector room. He’d probably make up some cover story if his boss or whoever bothered to ask why he wants ‘this random guy’ up in there with him.

With Tylers job at the hotel, thats when he probably encourages Jack to just sneak around since the business is more fancy and whatever. They probably wouldn’t want some random guy working/showing up there so he tells him to just keep it lowkey. :3

•THIS IS WAY TOO CUTESY BUT IM GONNA SAY IT ANYWAYS…… either Tylers mom or Jacks mom has took a picture of the two together and then got it framed up in their house if Tyler & Jack have been together for a long while 😭 Jack is so embarrassed if it’s his mom who did it and would probably beg her to take it down but Tyler would think it’s funny and tell him to shut up. •I kinda touched on this recently BUT I think Tyler loves falling asleep just to aggravate Jack since Jack can’t sleep. It’s probably the only reason he bothers trying to get as much sleep as he can everyday.. just out of spite, he keeps a good sleep routine.

He especially likes to hear Jack whine about how he fell asleep on the couch while they were supposed to be watching something together.. (ok he doesn’t actually feel that great bc he missed time he could have spent with him but WHATEVER)

replacing the current Papa everytime after his era ends doesnt feel like something that could ever get stale (to me at least), but keeping the same guy forever would definitely get tired for me real quick im already sick of copia and i LIKE the guy

the reason i think the replacement at the end of each era works is for the same reason that things like kamen rider and super sentai still work after 50+ years

for context, with every new season of kamen rider, we are introduced to a new hero/heroes and cast of characters (and a whole new universe as well)—however that hero always carries the title of Kamen Rider. you'll always miss your favorite rider, but you appreciate them more while they're there while ALSO getting hype for a new story to be told and to be introduced to a new person you'd love to get to know the quirks of! (kamen rider also has BIG special end of season movies where all the previous riders up to a point and the current rider team up against some big evil, so. yknow. a lil fanservice.)

ANYWAYS, all this to say, constant change will always be less stagnant than the same single story, even if its change you know will happen. change is, inherently, fresh by default

or maybe it's my lil ND brain that treats it like walking through a threshold and it resets my brain i dunno

part of why i like Ghost is that i like that format, i like getting a new silly guy this is one of my favorite things about them!!!!

For the bingo: kyoko and/or mami?

While i may have surprisingly few boxes for kyoko colored in, its not from a lack of love. Kyoko, imo, is the best redeemed villain character ive ever seen. Its not about her apologizing to sayaka or whatever, its about her slowly understanding sayakas worldview and growing closer to her, how their differing philosophies intertwine as the world slowly beats them down. Kyokos redemption arc is just her choosing to change and try to help sayaka, such a simple thing and yet masterfully executed. Its even more impressive when kyoko really only had 4 episodes in the show to execute all that. Saying she didnt have enough screentime is a bit tough, especially considering what a short and tightly plotted show pmmm is, but i really think kyoko couldve used a few more scenes to show what she does when shes alone, shes normally only with another character.

She does work very well off of whatever character shes paired with though. She and sayaka have (imo) the best dynamic in the entire show, what with how much they impact each other and how their dynamic builds up over time. Kyoko also has great chemistry with madoka despite having only one episode together. I know theres a manga of her and mami somewhere which i really want to read. (Rebellion spoilers for the rest of the paragraph) I also love how she and homura get to grow close in rebellion. I just wish rebellion had given time to kyoko and madoka, and kyoko and mami, but it isnt a huge problem.

Basically, i love kyoko a lot and what she means in the series. Her arc is incredible and she works well off of anyone she comes in contact with. The only problem is that i think the show doesnt give her a chance to show off what she can be like solo.

Mami. Gosh, this feels lkke payback for me giving you her. Shes such a hard character to describe.

First off minor point not everyone is wrong about mami im mostly joking bc i really hc her as aroace. Shes got so many aroace vibes. Shes the character through which i truly understood what relationship envy was. But i dunno if i wanna say all her ships are bad or anything yknow. They just dont work for me. So mostly that point is kinda a joke.

Also ghsjfnnsks so hard to choose whether shes wasted potential and not enough screentime. To say those things would i think imply something in the writing wasted her, and i dont think so. She is a character with very little of an arc, very little time, but she dows a lot in that time and is incredibly important to how the rest of the show plays out. Plotwise, i think shes used perfectly. I think what redeems her short tome is that they strongly characterize her in short moments. That scene in episode 10 reveals so much about how mami views the world, and makes so much sense. Not to mention how much they let mami do in rebellion. Its clear they have a strong characterization of mami and show it off whenever possible.

She did get done dirty by the creators though, she did not need to be fanserviced in rebellion. Shes a middle schooler.

Other than that i find her very interesting to think about but i will admit she is my lest favorite magical girl in pmmm. Which means shes still an incredible character, but the weakest in her cast.

EDIT: i forgot to mention i love her dynamic with madoka but idk if thats necessarily where she works best. Its just fun.
