AGUUGHGGHAUAUGGHHGGHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
Okay so I just saw season 3. let's go bitches
I… didn't like that! For the most part. There were a few good episodes and ideas, and it was a fun romp, but what I think I liked about season 3 most was that it taught me all about the parts of 1+2 that I had previously taken for granted.
Danny Phantom prior to season 3 is a very continuity-driven, character-driven show. It's very good at remembering what happens and making that matter for future episodes, and leads to a surprising amount of depth in the intercharacter dynamics.
So I talked in my earlier post about how one of the show's unironic strengths is that it doesn't unpack a lot of moments and it makes a lot of implications without fully exploring them. What I missed is that the strength of those moments isn't necessarily that they're open to interpretation, but that the show is constructed in such as way as to have those unpacked moments exist in a state of truth in the background.
The out of pocket "WHOA WHOA GO BACK ARE WE GONNA UNPACK THAT" moments are genuinely part of the worldbuilding because the implications were, for the most part, consistent - a writer or the writing team clearly had notes down somewhere keeping track of them and using them as a way to slip more depth in than they might A) be allowed by the censors and B) be able to include without ruining the tone.
And, well. It felt as though as soon as I entered season 3 I felt the absence of this respect for continuity. The slow and logical build of Danny's powers, gone. The complex interpersonal dynamics between the characters, gone. The tonal and logical direction of the worldbuilding, gone and replaced by something much less afterlife-centric and much more myth-centric. Many of the extended cast, functionally gone or badly OOC. I AM SO FUCKING SORRY VALERIE AND MADDIE
It's no longer a horror show! There are horrific moments, but it's lost that side of it. They fell off the knife's edge onto the teen comedy side. And, uh, that finale… yeah…
Now, this isn't to say that I completely hated season 3! I actually thought the art and music chops were still fully online for most of it and a lot of the new ghost designs were pretty cool, even if they lacked the depth of the ghosts in previous seasons. And some of the joke writing was really on point, I laughed a lot. And there were one or two episodes I liked unironically. And they had some interesting ideas. And I liked the idea if not the execution of Danny finding more out about the ghost zone. And I think every time Dash came up I laughed (Why did all of them except Tucker have him in the friend group in their dreams in the nightmare ep lmao???).
But man. Man. It's just not the same show. It feels like it takes place in a different world. But I do still like corny superhero comedy shows. And it did made me feel like I could appreciate the first two seasons all the more, so, like! Not a complete loss. I'm glad I sat down and watched it.
Time to read 1 billion fanfictions. SEEYA
So I have been watching Danny Phantom for the first time ever with my friends and I'd kind of previously known about its reputation as a show whose fanbase dives a lot more into the lore than the show is willing to. And I guess I hadn't really understood why until now (I just finished Season 2!). Here's my sort of rambling thoughts on it.
Danny Phantom isn't a show about the horror of ghosts and the dead coexisting in the human realm. It's a show about dropping the most out of pocket lore implications you can imagine on people who in turn say things that would kill a therapist dead equally out of pocket, and then neither are addressed but the watcher has to live with the ghost of the plot that is right behind them but they can't turn around.
DP is a little hit and miss in places, but the very thing that drives people nuts about it is actually I think maybe its greatest strength: it really pulls off show, don't tell effectively. How much of that is intentional is up for debate, but the best episodes kinda leave you wondering, or sputtering like "UH, HEY, BACK UP - HEY BACK UP AND UNPACK THAT -" Is Danny's human body technically alive somehow, or is he a walking corpse? Does Danny have a door in the Ghost Zone? Were Vlad's clones feeling and sentient as they melted into ectoplasm, despite Danny's guess that they weren't? What does it say about Danny that he still erased his parents' memories after finding out they'd accept him as he is?
I think the genius of not answering these questions directly is that it's both funnier AND scarier not to. We can laugh about how fucked up it is and kinda hold our heads like "bro.... did they really just imply that, holy shiiiiiit", and that's really consistent with the emotional core of the show as this knife's-edge dance between teen comedy and horror superhero. Fully explaining the lore or being more direct about how the information is conveyed by and to the characters tips that balance and changes the show into something else, for better or for worse. And I really earnestly like it as it is, even if it's very of its time (sexism.......)! It's a really fun show with some depth to it.
Anyway, I can't wait to watch season 3! I sure hope all these wonderful qualities I like about it hold up!

there's seemingly a tell tale sign of when you're feeling extra poorly, and that's the feeling of water beginning to pool in your waterline.
you couldn't help the dramatics that would take over your body, much less when you find dean sitting in your bedroom, assuring you that it was alright that he'd come home early from his hunt. "you shouldn't have to leave sam alone 'cause of me." you were a sniffling mess at your desk, for two reasons, one being that you were upset and the second being that your nose was so stuffed you could hardly breathe.
"sammy's fine to figure out the rest of this one, baby." dean was sitting on your bed, girly covers and throw pillows surrounding him. "and i don't have to do anything, i'm choosing to be here." dean's voice was all low and soft, the voice he used when you were upset which was seemingly more often than you'd thought.
you heard him shuffle across the room to where you sat on a brown, tattered chair.
he crouched down so he was eye level with you. "come on, sweetheart, you know you're just upset 'cause you feel all sick." his hand was gently tracing your thigh, soothing you from your sniffles. "think you just need to lay down, yeah?"
you mumbled something that he didn't quite catch with a nod.
he waited momentarily but you hadn't made any decision to move. "y/n." your eyes snapped up to meet his. "come lay down."
"okay." was your sheepish response.
dean didn't often call you by your name, he cast it away with all the lovely nicknames he'd picked out for you personally. nobody was baby but his car, until he'd met you. it came so easily, that soft way of loving.
when dean had you finally beneath the blankets, he pressed a kiss to your forehead, half-comforting and half-trying to gauge your temperature.
"where are you going?" your hand reached out for his lower arm.
dean turned down to look at you, a smile softly reaching his lips. "just getting your medication, baby, i'll be back, don't worry." and this time, the kiss pressed against your forehead was purely because he felt like it.
dean was well aware of your inability to take care of yourself. now, he was in no way calling you a nuisance, he just wished you cared for yourself as much as he did. with that being said, he did always love being able to care for you, it was a way that was so different than having to take care of sam his whole life. perhaps it was because this, he wasn't obliged to do, it wasn't expected of him.
he loved taking care of you but if anything were to happen to him... he'd like to know you could take care of yourself, too.
when dean returned to the bedroom, you were passed out asleep against the sheets. the man couldn't help but stop in his tracks.
you were a chatty person, awfully bubbly at times. and dean loved that about you, listening to you babble on about something and when he didn't catch a word he'd ask you to repeat what you said, it was always funny watching as the gears turned in your head, trying to remember.
sometimes you swore you talked so much that you tuned yourself out.
dean didn't though, he listened to every word that spilled from your lips.
but you were chatty with everyone you were close to. god forbid you ever went on a road trip with he and sam.
but with him you could be quiet at times, you still got shy and nervous around him which always made him coo, there was something sweet at the fact you could be so different behind closed doors, so yourself.
and seeing you like this, your lips drew into a pout and pink staining your ill cheeks, well it was rather nice, he thought.
he hated to be so evil as he was to wake you.
"sweetheart." the mere whisper of the name as his hands came down to soothe your arms was enough to have your eyelids peeling open. "sweetheart, c'mon, you gotta take your medicine."
a half-whine fell from your lips as he sat you up against the bed, sitting too so that you could lean yourself against him. dean was suddenly aware of how much hotter your body had gotten. he hadn't been gone long, just a trip to the kitchen to get you a glass of water and the medication he needed, though it'd taken him a while to find it. he had a bad habit of leaving things in strange places and forgetting about it.
he handed you off the capsules and then the glass of water.
"how're you feeling, honey?" the back of his palm pressed against your right cheek then slightly down your top, to your chest. he was like a concerned mother. "you're really hot."
"thanks." you quipped, leaning your hot forehead against his arm and sipping the water he'd given you.
he rolled his eyes at your remark, obviously taking your sickness more seriously than you were. "'m serious, you can't have blankets."
"dean!"
"no."
"dean, 'm cold." you nuzzled yourself further into dean's warm body, a dark grey hoodie coated his form along with black sweatpants, not his usual attire.
"you're not cold." he took your face between his two hands. "you're sick." pressing a kiss against the tip of your nose. you fought the words 'sap' to come from the back of your scratchy throat. "you can have the blankets but i have to take this off, then." you felt him gently pull at the shirt you'd stolen from him, clad on your body.
"deal." you mumbled, feeling a wave of dizziness hit you.
to make matters worse, you shook your head, thinking it would rid of the dizziness.
"hey, don't do that." he steadied your head before taking the glass out from your hands and placing it on the bedside dresser.
you felt his hands on your shirt, slowly pulling it from your frame. you helped by putting your arms in he air, allowing him to pull it off your body and toss it somewhere on the ground.
"want the tv on?" you nodded your head silently as the man rose from his place on the bed, reaching the tv stand where he picked up the remote and switched it on.
aimlessly, you uttered, "my legs hurt." while sliding back under the pretty covers.
he was busy fidgeting with the buttons on the remote. he never did know how to work your tv properly. "'s just cause your sick, it'll go away, baby."
you huffed at his response, laying your head on the pillows while you pulled the blanket close to you. you were cold but it was that sickly cold where you couldn't tell if it was really a chill or perhaps you were so warm that you felt cold, which didn't make a whole pile of sense.
when dean finally climbed back into the bed, your body practically collapsed on top of him.
he laid with an arm behind his neck and the other trailing shapes across your bare back, you lay with your head on his chest, listening to the low tv along with the thumping of his heart.
"are you okay?" you mumbled, voice slick with tiredness. the sickness was weird like that, hitting you suddenly, leaving just as immediately.
dean could have cooed at you. even while you were wrapped up in blankets, sick as a small hospital, you managed to ask him if he was okay.
It was another reason why he liked taking care of you. you took care of each other. "i'm okay."
another hushed mumble. "promise?"
"i promise." he answered honestly, fingers against your skin, moving up and down your back. "get some sleep, 'kay?"
a yawn passed your lips. "okay."
they said sleep was the best medicine, that it cured everything that was curable. well, you weren't sure anyone had said it to you but you just knew that it was said.
you had to beg to differ.
by dinnertime, your temperature was running hot.
earlier was the kind of sick that you could stomach, this was the kind of sick that had you flushed against the headboard of your bed, hands running down your face as you felt your head pound against the back of your eyes.
you could hear dean walk back into the room and you felt guilt soar through your veins.
you knew you were being... difficult to say the least. but you couldn't help it, hot tears gathering at your waterline all over again.
the mattress dipped as dean nudged your arm and you looked up at him with glossy eyes before looking down at the sandwich sitting on a plate in his hands.
"know you said you're not hungry but can you try eat some f'me? 's jam." his tone was all soft and his voice was all quiet. by now, he'd turned off the tv and closed the curtains, noticing how the light had been affecting your eyes. the only light on now was the little lamp sitting on your bedside table so you could actually see your surroundings.
you nodded hesitantly and took the sandwich from him.
dean noticed things about you like nobody else. he very early on found out that you loved jam sandwiches, you loved raspberry jam but you had an awful distaste for strawberry jam so from there on, he never bought strawberry jam on the offhand occurence that you may accidentally use it without looking at the label and get your jam sandwich ruined.
you were halfway through said sandwich when you placed it back on the plate, begging to tear up.
dean immediately took notice of it, taking the plate from you. "wh's wrong, baby? too much?"
you shook your head, sniffling. even the act of shaking your head had you clutching it soon after.
dean tutted, moving your hand away so he could soothe your forehead with a kiss and a gentle movement of his thumb. "poor girl." you heard him mutter under his breath, his brows strewn together in sympathy.
looking up at him, you had those glassy eyes that made his stomach feel almost as nauseous as yours. he didn't have to ask what was troubling you for you answered, anyway, to the silent question behind his eyes. "you're so nice to me."
his heart shattered a little.
it was no supirse that you didn't grow up with much comfort surrounding you and that only got worse as you began to get older. some days, you didn't think you'd ever get the comfort that your body ached for. and then dean winchester walked in, and his one and only goal was to take care of you, was to care for you, was to love you.
so you couldn't help tearing up a little from time to time when you think about the strawberry jam he gave up just for you.
"oh, baby. you're my sweet girl." he pulled you closer to him, putting your forehead against his chest so you could lean your weight on him. "'course 'm nice to you."
he helped you sit on his lap, fully discarding the place wherever his hands could push it to.
then his hands found your body, roaming it with this gentleness yet assertion. you'd put his shirt back on a while ago and discarded the blankets, which he was thankful for. he needed to break your temperature.
you weren't due medication for another two hours and you'd taken all the painkillers you could.
right now, all he could offer was himself.
and that was enough for you.
your arms tightened around his shoulders as you sniffled, tears breaking down your cheeks with a defeated sigh. "hate bein' sick." you uttered, sadness evident in your voice.
"i know, angel, i know." he gently rocked you in his lap, not enough to make your head dizzy but enough to bring you back to the moment, to remind you he was there.
and you stayed like that for seemingly a long time, melting into one another's embrace as if it were the most entertaining thing in the world.
you pressed your flush cheek against the hoodie covering his bare shoulder. the tears eventually dried up and all that was left was your frustrated sighs and mumbles.
"'s okay, sweetheart." he pressed a final kiss to your flushed face. "it'll pass."
and he was by your side as soon as it did.

Sometimes drinking alcohol and getting drunk with your best friends was all that you needed to unwind after a hard week of working your ass off. However, as much as you loved feeling this light, carefree, relaxed and let’s just simply say euphoric, alcohol intake also had its cons. For example, this lightness and relaxation came with the price of being unable to stand straight on your legs and your crush looking way more yummy than usual.
You weren’t really planning to go out. After a day you had at work all you felt like was to go home, take a warm bath and snuggle in bed with some good movie playing on the background. Your best friend came up with the idea to go clubbing and getting some overpriced but tasty drinks. You were reluctant at first but after thinking things over you decided to go. And it was great! You had time of your life and it was just what you needed to fully relax and wash off the stress of your daily life. The only problem now was that you had a bit too much to drink and could barely stand on your legs and you felt really dizzy. Also watching Changbin help your friend (who was also wasted if not more than you) get to her door, and mind you he got every one of your friends to their houses because it was really late and he didn’t want them to go with cabs in the middle of the night while in this vulnerable state. You had to call mama Seo and thank her for raising such a gentleman!
Okay maybe you were a bit biased, It wasn’t a secret your feelings for Changbin had been more than platonic. You two had known each other for quite a while. You didn’t know when it started but you two had been flirting around with each other since forever but neither one of you made that final move to make things official. So here you were stuck in the middle ground, where you couldn’t really be called just friends but you weren’t dating each other either.
Of course you would be more than happy to get out of that situation. At least you would try and move on from him if he didn’t want to date and make things official. You just weren’t sure how you should make the first move, you always kind of expected he would be the first one to ask you out.
You were startled out of your thoughts when you heard Changbin return in the car, you couldn’t help but smile as you took in his disheveled hair and rosy cheeks from the cold.
“Are you sleepy baby?” – He asked as he noticed your dazed eyes.
“Yea, but I can’t sleep. I shouldn’t.” You sighed out as you watched him start the car.
“Why is that bubz?” He looked at you for a second before shifting his gaze to the road.
“If I close my eyes I can not look at your pretty face!” You made sure to whine as dramatically as possible. Changbin let out one of his notorious cackles.
“God that was so cheesy!”-He wheezed out after a few seconds of laughing like he had been possessed with a spirit of an ancient witch.
You grabbed your own cheeks making sure to smush them together just enough, blinked at him all cutely and continued to tease him like the sweetheart you were. “Shut up you love me.”
“I do.” Wow how the tables turn he just admitted it like it was the most common fact ever. Grass is green, sky is blue and apparently Seo Changbin is in love with you.
“Wait really?” You really couldn’t believe your own ears.
“Yeah of course.” Again, he was so incredibly casual about it! Oh no you couldn’t let it slide.
“Why aren’t you asking me out to date then?” There it was, there was no return now.
Changbin not only snapped his head so fast that there might have been a possibility that he could’ve broken his neck, but he also stopped his car so aburtly you had to thank god there was no one behind you.
“What do you mean ask you out?” Wow was it so horrible to even imagine it? You thought you two had a thing. Were you wrong?
“Oh my god have I been misreading the situation the whole time? This is so embarrassing. I am so sorry…”
It was his turn to panic now, which made you feel a bit relieved, because you felt like you were losing your shit! “No no it’s not that I promise!”
“When what is?” You couldn’t hide your desperation now. Maybe you could blame it on alcohol later and hope to move on?
“I thought we were dating?”
A blink.
Another blink.
“Changbin what the fuck? How the fuck did you believe we were dating?” You were full on yelling now because what the fuck did he mean he thought you two were dating! Since fucking when?
“I don’t know! I just did! We already act like a couple so what’s the big deal? Wait you don’t like me?” Forget all the sappy shit, you felt like strangling him.
“I do but…” God how did you manage to get yourself in this fucking situation? “God this is giving me such a headache.”
Changbin looked just as lost and even guilty. “I’m sorry. But I genuinely thought we were dating.”
“Since when?” You had to get in the bottom of this, or else your head was going to explode.
“I don’t know, like Han’s birthday party? You remember when you kissed me?” He tried to reason but the new knowledge almost made you choke on your own spit. God was really laughing at you.
“I fucking did WHAT?”
“YOU DON’T REMEMBER?” Changbin full on screamed in shock. Really what did you do to deserve this?
“NO!” You screamed back, and with it went last drops of alcohol remaining in your body and your sanity. Ain’t no way you could return to being normal after this.
“I mean I knew that you drank a little that day but damn! You don’t remember kissing me?” Changbin had his face in his hands, the car still ignited just casually standing in the middle of the road. Thank god there was no one around.
“Fuck me I gotta stop drinking. No I don’t remember kissing you.” Honestly nothing seemed more tempting right now than crying your eyes out at the sheer ridiculousness of it all.
“Unbelievable.” Your heart clenched at Changbin’s sulky and sad voice. You were furious at yourself for not remembering kissing this cinnamon roll.
“I’m sorry. What happened? Tell me a full story.” You pleaded as if hearing the full story would magically return your memories and make the situation any better.
“I don’t know, I walked you home, we were about to say goodbye and you kissed me. I thought that you were drunk but you confessed that you liked me and it seemed so sincere, and we’ve been flirting for ages! How was I supposed to know you wouldn’t remember anything?”
“This is so unfair! You are telling me I have been literally dreaming about how would kissing you be like and in reality I have already done it?” Talk about unfair!
A biggest smile broke on his face and his whole mood shifter 180. “Aww baby you’ve been dreaming about kissing me?”
You really felt like pulling your own hair out now.  How was he so calm all of a sudden? “Binnie, baby, respectfully shut the fuck up.”
“But you like me!” He looked so giddy now, what a precious dummy. You really felt like shutting him up with a fat smooch on his lips. You had to pull yourself together.
“Bin you had been convinced we had been dating I don’t know for how many months now. I had you THAT convinced. Of course I fucking like you.”
“Aww you said it again that you like me!”
“I swear to god Seo!” Changbin gasped like he had been slapped making you also flinch in shock.
“Not the last name! I liked it better when you called me Binnie and baby and love and all the sweet stuff.” Was he serious right now? A smile broke out on your face against your will, he was so cute.
You sighed in defeat. “Okay I won’t call you by your last name.”
“Also not the first name. I’m Binnie to you!” To make his point he even crossed his arms, his lips all pouty and cheeks all fluffy.
“Okay Binnie.” You held in your pinky as a promise, he immediately linked it with his feeling satisfied.
You two sat in silence for a few seconds, thankfully he started to drive again. “So like what do we do now?” He broke the silence looking at you with confused eyes.
“I don’t know Bin, let me think for a sec?”
“But” - He tried to protest but you didn’t let him.
“Please baby?”  You gave him the best puppy eyes ever, knowing damn well he wouldn’t be able to resist. You just needed a second.
“That’s not fair, You know I can’t say no when you ask me like that!”
The ride to the home was quiet, with the only problem arising when you were in front of your house.
“Bin I Think we have a problem.” You sighed feeling way too drained to care about this new problem.
“Wait what? Why?” You cured yourself for making him feel anxious, you quickly leaned in and grabbed his hands.
“Calm down baby.” You tried to reassure.
“What is it?”
“I just can’t find my keys.” You admitted bashfully.
“Are you kidding? Did you lose them somewhere?”
“No. I gave it to my friend when we left the house, she just found it in her purse she just texted me.”
“Oh thank god I thought we had to change the locks. Do you want me to go back to her apartment?” Really who was this cute and adorable? This was so unfair for your heart.
“What? No, it would be such an inconvenience. I mean we can go at your house?” You already felt like a hassle you didn’t want to tire him more, It was really late too.
“My house?” Changbin sounded genuinely so surprised you thought you said something wrong for a second. Changbin returned to normal in a second. “I mean it’s not a problem but like our sofa broke, turns out you can’t just like wrestle for the better controller or something like that. Okay what am I even saying you can take my room, me and Hyunjin had shared a bed so many times anyways.”
“It’s fine tho.” Your voice was quiet almost like a whisper.
“What is?” You looked at his face, he looked genuinely confused. You rolled your eyes, he really couldn’t take a hint sometimes.
“I meant that we can share a bed.” You tried your best to sound as cool and as casual as possible even though your heart felt like bursting.
“We can do what now?” he really looked like he couldn’t believe his own ears.
“I mean apparently we had been dating for months now.”
“Hey don’t tease!”
“I gotta do something! My head feels like exploding! We managed to get ourselves in quite a situation right here!” You took a deep breath to calm yourself. “Anyway what I’m saying is that I’m completely fine sharing a bed with you. We’ve established that we like each other so I don’t see the problem here.”
“That’s what I thought the first time too! What if you forget again! What if you wake up in the morning not remembering anything and you’re just there in my bed with me in it! You’ll think I’m some sort of pervert and that I took advantage of you when you were drunk!” There he was being all dramatic and huffy all again.
“I’m not drunk!” Who would be drunk after this?
“You were a few minutes ago!” He had a a point but now you felt more sober than you were before you started drinking.
“Well not anymore! How can I be drunk after all that? And I was just tipsy! I was just fine! You were the one worried and insisting that you come and take me home! For which I love you and appreciate you but still!”
Changbin crossed his arms. “I’m still not sure.”
“What you want me to do a video proof that I fully consent to this?”
Changbin glared at you but then smirked suddenly looking smug. “Maybe it’s not such a bad idea!”
“God you’re so petty sometimes.” Two could play the petty game, you took out your phone and pressed the record button. “Hello future me! It is exactly half past thee in the morning and I’m sitting in the car with Changbin who is driving me to his home. This is a reminder to you in case that I forget in the morning that I fully concent to sharing a same bed with Seo Changbin. And to avoid any further miscommunication I will say in this video that I like him like a lot and appartenly he does return the feelings. However if when we get there he doesn’t kiss me I will end this either month long or minute long relationship right then and there!”
It was his time to roll his eyes now, but he clearly looked amused by all this. “You’re impossible.”
“I’m warning you Seo!” Ain’t no way you wouldn’t get your kiss now that you two were aware of each other’s emotions. No way in hell would count the one you didn’t even remember as your first kiss with him.
“Whatever my love shall request my love shall get!”
***
The ride to his house was quick which was great you were dying to take off your shoes. Whoever invented high heels deserved to burn in hell. Thank god Binnie came to pick you up.
Speaking of which, being the perfect gentleman he is, he immediately got out of the car, ran to your side all cutely and opened your door for you, holding in his hand for you to take. You obviously took it, appreciating the kind gesture and also support because your legs really were hurting like a bitch.
Changbin helped you get out of the car, he even closed the door for you. You were about to thank him but something stopped you Something in his eyes.
You weren’t even able to question anything, before you even knew it, he wrapped his arm around your waist brought you close to his body and in mere second his lips were on yours.
The kiss was firm but also full of love, he kissed you as he was afraid to let you go. His lips were so soft and warm and his body… It was so firm and strong and warm. No wonder you felt so safe and loved whenever you were with him, You couldn’t help but cling to him as you tried to return the kiss with the same vigor. Both of your arms tightly wrapping around his broad shoulders.
Your whole body felt like it was melting, you were sure you wouldn’t even be able to stand straight if it wasn’t him holding you so firmly. How was he even so good at kissing? His kisses felt like a drug and you were getting addicted by the second.
After a while he leaned back and you couldn’t help but actually whine, god what was he doing to you? Seeing you chase his lips made the biggest smile break out on his face. God He looked so beautiful with his flushed cheeks and messy hair, his lips all pretty and pink. Changbin leaned in and gave you few short pecks.
After he felt satisfied with the amount of kisses he gave you he decided to just randomly sweep you off your feet, quite literaly. One second you were somewhat steady on the ground the next you were in the air desperately clinging onto Changbin confused out of your mind.
“What are you doing?” – You managed to huff out giggling at his cute antics.
“You’re feet are hurting.” He said it like a matter of fact.
“I mean yes, but are you going to carry me until we get to your house?”
“Why not?” Again so casual, like holding you and walking up to his house which wasn’t that near wasn’t a big deal.
“Binnie I’m heavy!” You tried to protest, even squirmed a little but to no avail.
“Not really, no.”
“Binnie it isn’t worth it, I’m really heavy.”
“What’s the point of working out if I can’t even carry my girl!” Wow your heart must have done a literal backflip because what the fuck was that movement in your chest?
“I’m your girl?” You didn’t even try to hide the lovesick expression that overtook your face.
Changbin glanced at you for a second, then leaned in and kissed the tip of your nose- “Of course you’re my girl.” So not mindful of your poor heart amusement clear on his face clearly enjoying your flustered state. He continued walking as it was nothing, like holding you was same as holding couple of grapes. He only stopped when you two were in front of his house.
“Can you ring the bell?” He asked with the cutest smile ever, how in your right mind could you say no? You rang the bell then it hit you, the situation you were in. You quickly covered your face as if Changbin wasn’t holding you like you were main dish on a platter. The cackle Changbin let out seeing your antics almost woke up the whole building.
Hyunjin opened up the door after a few seconds, clearly he just rolled out of bed. You felt bad for possibly waking him up. He looked at you two with unamused eyes, Changbin still proudly holding you refusing to let you down, and you looking through your fingers clearly shy.
“Huh so my wife is cheating on me with my friend.”
“Uh pretty much? You’re still number one in my heart you know that.” Changbin answered proudly.
“Hey hyun!” You greeted him shyly after you made sure to smack Changbin’s shoulder.
"Hey! Took you two long enough to get together tho.” Hyunjin deadpanned as he let you two in, Changbin finally letting you down on the armchair.
“Oh let me tell you a juicy story then!” You smiled mischievously completely ignoring Changbin’s protests.
After telling Hyunjin everything and him making fun of you two, mostly Changbin, you decided to get ready for bed. Honestly they would be lucky if the neighbors didn’t call the cops on them, they were so damn loud!
Anyway here you were now, laying on one side of the bed all snug in Changbin’s clothes as Changbin laid stiffly on the other. Honestly, he looked like he would fall of the bed any second now.
“Bin you’re about to fall off the bed!”
“I’m fine.” God even his voice was stiff.
“Bin you literally took my breath away the way you were kissing me earlier what happened now?”
“I don’t think I should get any more close.” He grumbled out after a few seconds of silence.
“Why is that?”
Changbin scoffed like he was baffled how you weren’t understanding what was wrong. “You’ll think badly of me!” Again grumbling inaudibly.
“I promise I won’t.” You tried to reassure him, even held in your pinky finger which he begrudgingly took.
“It’s just you’re here in my bed, in my clothes, looking absolutely beautiful and we were kissing and you look so kissable right now… How am I supposed to control myself?” This boy was going to be the death of you. Who the hell was this cute and adorable and so kissable on a random Tuesday night!
“Then don’t.”
“Baby I swear to god!” Changbin covered his face and almost fell out of the bed, thankfully you managed to drag him to the center of bed just in time. Also this gave you a perfect opportunity. You wrapped your hands around him and hugged him tight, Changbin immediately uncovered his face to wrap his arms around you and hug you back.
“I like you a lot bin.” You mused and leaned in to softly peck his lips, Changbin almost immediately melted into your arms.
“I like you a lot too.” He muttered before bringing you closer to seal your lips in a longer more passionate kiss.
“We’re really really dating now so don’t you start getting shy on me okay?” You couldn’t help but tease.
Changbin groaned at the teasing clearly not amused. “Brat!”
You couldn’t help but giggle as you got more comfortable getting ready to get one of the best sleeps of your life.

What do you want from me?
Description: Constant arguments, ignoring each other, miscommunication, etc. After a big fight, you get tired and ask her a question that leads to tears and clarification. Anyway, enjoy(?)
Tumblr media
“Say something, got nothing to say now?” She says as she thinks she's got the upper hand, but in the pit of her stomach, she can feel something brewing. Nerves? But what does she have to be nervous about, that blank look on your face? How does she feel like you're looking right through her? No, she's winning, so why does she feel like something bad is coming? No, she's just overthinking. Right?
It felt like hours passed of you just staring at her, why aren't you saying something. As she goes to say something, you beat her to it. “What are we doing?”
Time stops. What do you mean? She's at a loss for words. Her mouth feels dry, all of the words that she braked at you now are words that she regrets, why does her throat feel like it's closing up?
“Paige, what do you want from me?” You ask her. You can't take it. All of the fights, yelling at each other with no end.
“One day we're happy and can't get enough of each other, we kiss, hold hands, we’re in love one day then the next another fight starts and we go to ignoring each other.” There's no way that's true, is it?
“Y/n what are you saying” She lets out scared that she may know the answer.
“Paige, what do you want? Because this isn't healthy, this isn't a relationship.” Looking at you now she notices that you're crying, the beautiful eyes that she could look into forever are crying, and the faces that looks at her with nothing but pure adoration is stained with tears and exhaustion. The face that she holds with care so that she won't hurt you is red and puffy. How did she not see it?
“I love you, I love you more than I've ever loved anyone, I love you so much that it consumes me, it eats me alive, but I can't keep fighting with you. I want to be able to come to you and just love you and when we fight it can't be like this. So what do you want? Please I can't take it” Why can't she say anything? Why can't she move? She wants to hug you, she wants to tell you that she wants to fix this but she's stuck. Why? Why now?
You watch her; you can see that she's nervous, but you need an answer. You need to know. You deserve one. “Say something, say anything, fight for me, show me you care.” You scream at her in your head.
You had to ask, it's selfish but you had to, you can't keep going like this. Watching her panic hurts you, all you want to do is hold her and tell her that it's okay and that you're sorry. You could take it back but you don't want to. You need her to tell you even if you sound pathetic. For her, you'll more than happily be.
Why can't she answer? She looks at you like she wants to say something but no words will come out. Why now?
“Maybe we should take some time apart. A few days could be good,” you say, believing it could be good for you both.
“What? No no, we don't need that.” She rushes out scared that if you walk out of her dorm you won't come back. She can't lose you.
“Paige, you can't even answer me. I know what I want, I want you, I've always wanted you through everything, even through all our fights, I fought for you. I know sometimes it didn't seem like it, but I did it all for you. I'm selfish and want you all to myself, but you need some time to think. Maybe the space will be good. Come find me when you're ready to answer me. No matter the answer, I'll be waiting.” Before she can argue and try to make you stay, you collect your bag and shoes, rushing out, but before you kiss her, just in case it may be the last. You pull away to leave her dorm and close the door behind you, knowing if you don't, you'll turn around and run back. It's for the best, you tell yourself, so that maybe it comforts you.
She watches you. How could she stand there and watch you walk out? How could you have thought that space would be good? Why didn't she stop you? Why?
When you kissed her she couldn't react fast enough to kiss you back, if it was one second longer she would’ve kissed you back, she would've held on so that you could see that she needs you, that she wants you. She can taste your tears, even your tears taste sweet to her. Why couldn't she just have told you that she wants you, just you. You are everything she's ever wanted. If you were a drug she would never even think of quitting you.
She can feel herself slowly start crying, as she stands shaking and hyperventilating she feels her crying turn into sobbing quickly. Sobbing over you, the lack of your presence, your tears that she caused, the pleading look in your eyes begging her to just say something, how you rushed out quickly, the kiss that still lingered, how you closed the door before she could even think. She can still smell your vanilla perfume, and the coconut smell of your shampoo, even while you're crying you're still the most beautiful person she's ever seen. Paige Madison Bueckers is completely and utterly in love with you.
She's still sobbing by the time her roommates get home, the only difference is that she's now sitting on a couch trying to calm herself down. KK and Azzi rush over to her trying to ask her what happened. Aubrey rushes to the kitchen to get water while Ice asks if they should call you so that you can help. At hearing your name she's finally able to say something.
“No.” She choked out, “You can't call her, this is my fault.”
“P, what are you talking about?” Azzi asks because they're curious and worried when they walk into their teammate crying alone.
“We were arguing and after a while, she asked me what I wanted and I didn't say anything, why didn't I say anything, I was in shock because I love her so much and she knows I do but the words couldn't come out. Oh god, what if I lost her? Azzi, I can't lose her. I can't do it without her. She said maybe the time would be good and that she’ll wait for my answer but I don't need time, I want her.” She spits out while crying.
“Ok, ok, it's only a little bit of space for you both to calm down and gather your thoughts. She's not gone, and if she's willing to wait for your answer, then that means she loves you too. She's putting your relationship first by giving you time to think because even though she knows you love her, the relationship hasn't been healthy for a while, and she wants to make sure you want to work towards it being healthy, no?” Azzi relays, trying to show Paige that this isn't the end.
“Exactly, and if you mean what you say and want to work on your guy's relationship, this may be good so you can come up with a game plan. Try to see how this could benefit you guys.” Aubrey chimes in, handing her the water making sure she drinks it.
It makes sense but she can't help but be worried that when she goes to give you an answer you won't want it anymore. The rest of the night is a blur to her all she can focus on is how there's reminders of you scattered throughout her dorm. Your pillows and blankets on her bed, your hair ties on her desk because you always lose them and she finds them, perfumes you've left there that she smells whenever she misses you, your clothes lying around, your jewelry mixed with hers, books you've read on her bookshelf, polaroids of you decorate her walls and desk, some of your makeup in the bathroom along with your skincare, you're all around her. You haunt her, all that runs through her mind is how she misses you. She craves you. She prays for you.
Right before she falls asleep she vows you get you back.
Tumblr media
You're not any better. As you get to your dorm you feel like you just got hit by a bus, you look like it. As you walk in your roommates see you and try to get your attention to check in on you but all you can do is walk to your room, wanting to be alone. You change into clothes that Paige left there. They swallow you but you don't mind. They smell like her. You can't bring yourself to do anything else, all of your energy has been sucked out of you. All you can think about is Paige, your beautiful girl, how could you leave her like that?
You had to, you love her too much to keep fighting back and forth with her. You exist just for her, you were designed to love her, you breathe for her, and if you could you would crawl inside of her. As your eyes start to shut you wish on every star that she comes to you and tells you that she's ready to fight for you. Every single star is worth her.
Tumblr media
As you suggested Paige takes a few days to think, but not about what she wants. She knows what she wants but she wants to make a gesture to show you how much she wants you. Planning has taken her a while but when she was ready to act on her plan she had to almost beg your roommates to help get you out of the dorm. When she heard that you locked yourself in there rarely coming out except to eat it broke her, all she wanted to do was run to you and get on her knees and beg you to come back but she knew that she needed to make it special for you both.
You missed Paige like crazy. You were a bit sad that she hadn't reached out yet but in all fairness, you told her to take a few days and you may have turned off your phone not wanting to hear from anyone.
You slowly started coming out of your room more day by day, after four days one of your roommates asked you if you could get groceries later on in the day so that when she got home she could make dinner.
“Yeah, by what time do you need them?” You ask not wanting to be late.
“Hm probably around 6ish but if you don't mind could you go to the Target 30ish minutes away, I checked if the one near us had the protein powder I need and they don't but the other one does pretty please, I’ll owe you one,” she begs knowing you'll say yes but in reality, she's just trying to get you out of the house so Paige, her teammates, and your other roommate could help them with her plan.
“Yeah, sure, I'll leave like at 4ish, maybe 3:30, that ok?” Thinking about possible traffic, you give yourself some time.
“Yes, thank you so much.” She can't wait to start settling everything up as soon as she sees you leave.
Tumblr media
As you check the time it reads 3:16, you get up and start getting a bit ready so you don't go out looking like how you feel, you shower in the morning so now it is just to do a bit of makeup and change. When you feel presentable you start collecting your things to head out.
“Kay, imma head out.” You gave them a heads-up.
“Ok, be safe,” they call out as you shut the door. When they see your car heading out from the window, they call the team to give them the green light to come over and start prepping.
As they start rearranging the dorm to fit the plan they hear a knock and come face to face with the all team.
“Do you think she’ll like it?” Paige asks nervously knowing you'll like it but needing a bit of reassurance from the people who are also close to you.
“You know she will, but hey, remember we know where you live, so treat our girl right, yeah?” Your other roommate tells her while bringing in some flowers, threatening her teasingly, she knows Paige would die before she ever purposely hurt you.
“Yeah, I know, let's get to work so we can finish,” she replies, confident in her plan.
Tumblr media
When you're nearing your dorm you're a bit suspicious that you can't hear anything, usually, there's at least some noise from the TV or speaker playing music but it’s oddly silent. You ignore it just wanting to drop off the groceries and go into your room to take a nap.
As you put in your key and push the door open, you're greeted by roses, candles, and flower petals leading to the living room? As you follow them, confused, you see her, Paige, your Paige. Everything in your body wants to run to her and kiss her till you can't breathe anymore, you hold yourself back. The last time you saw each other, a lot of tears were shed, and she never gave you an answer. You had to respect that.
“What are you doing here?” You ask, wanting to appear calm, but in reality, inside, you were jumping up and down, just happy to see her.
“I never gave you an answer,” Paige says while looking at you trying to soak in your appearance. God, you are more beautiful every time she looks at you. Your hair that she could run her hands through, your face that is embedded into her mind, her shirt that you're wearing, how you can tell that it isn't yours showing people that you're hers. She could look at you forever and never get tired of you.
“Yeah, you didn't.” You turn to put the groceries in the kitchen, hoping to hide the fact that you're desperate to hear what her answer is. As you set them down, you come to stand in front of her, your soul focus is her. Even with all the roses, candles, and twinkling lights around you, all you can stare at is her. “Well, Paige, what do you say,” you need to hear her say it. It won't matter unless it is from her.
“Y/n, my sweet girl, you are the love of my life, you're the greatest thing that's ever happened to me, I'm blessed that every day I get to wake up next to you, and if I'm not next to you, I look forward to see you. You are the most enchanting person I've ever seen, since the first time I saw you, I never wanted to look away, whenever I play, I make sure you're watching me because I want to impress you and show you how hard I work so that one day when I go pro, you'll still watch me and get that beautiful smile when I score. I can't fathom the thought of ever not loving you. Baby, I can't even talk regularly about you, you make me dizzy with your near existence, I admire you every day. I soak up every detail about you. Whenever I'm not with you, I miss you, during my away games, when you can't come, or just when you’re in a different room, I miss you. For so long, my dream has been basketball then I met you, and I started dreaming about you. When people ask me about you, I cannot help but light up at the chance to talk about you, even coach has told me that my eyes light up when I talk about you. When I listen to older love songs, you come to mind. Every love song is about you in my eyes. I'd give up anything just to be in your presence. The first time you said you love me, right then, in that moment, I found out what heaven is. You asked me what I want, y/n all I want is you, I want you, only you, I want you entirely, no one and nothing else will work. I want to work on this with you, I want to do everything with you, I promise to be better with you, please, baby I can't be me without you.” While Paige went on with her speech, you started crying. You couldn’t believe how much this woman loves you, how much she adores you, how much she's ready to give so that this can work. She wants you just as much as you want her.
“Paige I want you so much,” when you say that she rushed to you, she crashes into you holding you like you could vanish into thin air, she holds you like she’ll never let you go. You hold her just as much.
While you both just hold each other in the middle of your living room, she can feel you laughing. “What's so funny, baby?” She asks curiously.
“Well, I kind of also have a gift for you, but I have to go get it from my room,” you say, legging go of her slowly to go get it, but she's holding you tighter, not liking the idea, “Yeah nah get it another time I'm happy here.”
You giggle, swaying your bodies, “I promise it'll only be like five seconds. Come on, my love.” As you tell her, you cradle her face, sipping away some of the tears that she let out while she was giving her speech for you. Now pouting teasingly, she nods but tells you to be quick. You rush to your room to collect a pink envelope from your vanity and come back to see her sitting on the couch, waiting for you with open arms.
“What's that?” She asks with a smile, having an idea of what it is. You climb in next to her while she wraps her arm around your shoulder you answer, “A letter I wrote for you.”
“Read it to me,” she says, laying her head on your shoulder, ready to hear you speak, you nod your head, opening the letter, and start reading it.
“P I was destined to meet you, I was destined to fall in love with you, I knew it as soon as you said hi to me and asked me if I knew where the theater was. I have loved you for three years, and I will love you for many more. I'll love you even when we're nothing but dust. I believe that we were made from the same star. I fall for you every day, I fall for your smile; your laughter is my favorite sound, and I could listen to your voice forever. You make me feel alive. You have shown me what it's like to be loved gently and have taught me how you love gently. I have memorized the shade of your eyes, how your hair feels, the warmth of your skin, every small scar on your face, your teeth, and your favorite perfumes, I even remember your heartbeat. I crave just to lay down beside you. I love you with every part of my soul. I cherish the nights when we cook together and just laugh. The small moments are things I will never overlook or forget. When your hands hurt, I want to hold them, I want to kiss them better. I want it all for you. I will forever support your dreams, I'll do everything in my power to help you get to where you want. To me, you're everything. If you wish to have a star, I'll steal one from the sky to give it to you. Anything you want, I'll give you. Paige, I love you more than words could ever describe.”
As you finish, you look and see her crying again, “I'm sorry, love I didn't want to make you cry.” You try to wipe all the tears you can.
“No, no, I'm just happy that we both are here together and in love. I never imagined that I could ever love someone this much. Y/n, you're it for me, you know that, don't you? I'll marry you one day and give you my last name that you can wear with pride.” She confesses, hoping you know how certain she is that she will marry you.
“I know baby, I'll proudly wear your name even now. You're it for me too,” you say while looking directly into her eyes so she can also see how much you want it to.
“Good, I'm so grateful for you baby.” You can't help but laugh a little that you were worried a few days ago that she didn't want this, “I'm grateful for you too.”
Tumblr media
“Do y'all think they're good?”
“Probably those two are too locked in to give up.”
“Yeah, I was kinda looking forward to making dinner though…”
‘Shut up, let's go get food I’m starving too.” Both of your roommates knew you would work it out, but they weren't patient enough to wait for y'all to get done to go get food.
Tumblr media

And just like that, your world came crashing down around you.
You swallow hard, trying to comprehend what Rafe has just said to you. He's staring at you, waiting for you to say something but the words just wouldn't come.
Rafe tried to hold back tears. This was it. You were going to leave him. He was going to prison and he would lose you and his baby and everything that brought him any ounce of happiness in his life.
"Y-you...shot..."You muttered. "I-is she dead?"
"I don't know," His voice was barely above a whisper.
You squeeze your eyes shut and take a deep breath. "What happened, exactly, Rafe?" You finally managed.
"She was going to arrest my dad. S-she had the gun pointed at him. I-I had to save him, Y/N." He was crying again.
"What? Why was she arresting your dad?"
"John B said Ward killed his dad."
"What the fuck?" You whisper to yourself as you lean back against the frame of Rafe's bed, leaning your head in your hands.
You knew something had happened when Ward took John B fishing. He had come back with a gaff hook wound on his arm claiming John B attacked him. You really didn't stick around to listen to what happened. You were trying to keep your stress levels down but that obviously wasn't happening anymore.
"Where's your dad?"
"He was still at the tarmac. He told me to bring Sarah home. She saw everything..."
"Shit."
"I'm so sorry, Y/N. I fucked up. I panicked, I didn't want my dad to get hurt and I-"
"Shh, baby. I know." You tell him, pulling his face to yours. "I know."
"A-are gonna leave me?" His voice was so pitiful, cracking as he spoke. The sound broke your heart.
"No. I told you, Rafe. Forever. You and me against the world." You told him before pressing your lips to his.
He brought his hands up, tangling his fingers in your hair as he pulled you deeper into the kiss. He couldn't believe it. The fact that you were still here. Still here after he just made the biggest mistake of his life. One that could land him in a jail cell forever.
"Listen to me," You told him as you pulled away. You were way more calm than you should have been, but seeing Rafe freak out somehow helped you to keep your head on straight. "We need to talk to Ward. Find out what happened after you left the tarmac."
Rafe nods between your hands. "Okay."
"We'll figure something out, okay?"
"I-I can't lose you and our baby."
"You won't. I promise you you won't."
-
You and Rafe sat silently in Ward's office as you waited for him to return home. Rafe looked over old photos and awards hung up on the walls, smiling as he ran his fingers over a photo of him and his father.
You watch him sadly. The hold Ward had over him. Rafe just wanted to be accepted and the lack of love Ward had given him has now landed him in the worst possible situation.
Rafe sat down beside you with the picture.
"You look so handsome," You tell him, resting your chin on his shoulder.
He smiles at you. He always blushed when you called him handsome.
Ward walks in the room and your stomach drops. He stares at you both for a moment before sighing and closing the door. You're trying your best to remain calm but your head was flooded with anxiety. Flooded with thoughts of all the worst possible outcomes.
"Is...she alive?" Rafe asks.
Ward shakes his head.
"No?"
"No."
You clench your jaw and take in a deep breath.
"Okay," Rafe said, trying to calm himself as he could feel the anxiety return to his body. "Okay."
You place a hand on Rafe's bicep, rubbing his skin lightly to try and calm him down.
"What did you tell the cops? Are they coming here?" Rafe asks.
Ward walks to his desk, pouring himself a glass of whiskey before responding. "I told them John B did it."
"Told 'em John B did it..." Rafe repeated his father's words, pondering the idea. "That's good. Yes, that could work!"
You bit your lip as you watched Rafe start to get manic.
"Rafe. I need you to go to your room. Take a shower okay? Get cleaned up. If anyone asks, you were here all day okay? You were doing maintenance on The Druthers." Ward says, glancing to you. You nod your head in agreement.
"No. No, Rose knows I wasn't here." Rafe argued.
"I will talk to Rose."
"What-what about Sarah?" Rafe asks, standing up now.
"What about Sarah?" Ward asks.
"Sarah, listen, Sarah has a big mouth okay?"
"You're sister isn't going to do anything to hurt us."
"No, no, no you didn't see her in the car okay? She was freaking out!" Rafe argues back. You could hear the stress in his voice. "I have a suggestion-"
"Rafe! Stop it! I don't need your help. I didn't need it then and I don't need it now. I just need to think! So please, go clean up!" Ward was yelling now. You could see the pain on Rafe's face.
"You understand, right? Rafe said sadly. "You understand?"
"Understand what, Rafe?"
"Why I did it."
You sat silently, biting back tears. Ward turned to look at Rafe once again.
"You were in trouble and I was protecting you. Okay? Me, dad. Rafe. Not Sarah, okay? It was me!"
You couldn't help but cry now as you watched tears spill from his eyes. This wasn't his fault. You couldn't blame him for what he did. He was so broken.
Rafe backed away as Ward walked towards him. "Sorry," Rafe said softly, nervous of what his dad was going to do next.
Ward slowly pulled Rafe to him. "I know, come here. Come on, come on, bud."
You watched Rafe's face. He was shocked at the fact that his dad was hugging him. But he hugged him back tightly.
"Come on, bud, I'm sorry. I love you. I love you, Rafe. So much."
Rafe smiled at his dad's words. You couldn't help but watch them with sorrow in your eyes. The way his father's approval made him glow. How could Ward not see how special his son was?
"Listen, everything is going to be okay. We will figure it out." Ward promises.
You stand up and grab Rafe's hand. He wraps his arms around you tightly.
"Y/N-" Ward begins.
"Maintenance on The Druthers." You nod. "I'm all in."
Ward offers a sad smile. He's obviously upset that the three of you were now involved in this mess. But he was going to protect his son at all costs and make sure he gets the chance to be a father himself.
-
You and Rafe move in silence. The events of the day heavy on your mind. He pulls you into the shower with him and the two of you just stand there holding each other as you let the warm water wash away your worries.
The feeling of his skin on yours had you crying silently. You don't know what you'd do without him. He trailed the tips of his fingers over your spine and you drag your acrylics up and down his back.
Rafe moved a hand to your stomach, brushing over it softly. You didn't need to speak. Neither of you did. You could feel how much Rafe loved you and your unborn child. You clung to him tightly, reminding him you were still there. That you and Wolf were still there.
Rafe turned the shower off and wrapped you up in a towel, drying you off before he grabbed your favorite lotion and made sure he rubbed it over every inch of your body. You melted under his touch. The way his fingers traced the contours of your skin. The way he worshipped every part of your body, placing kisses all along your limbs.
He scooped you up and carried you to his bed. He went to his dresser and pulled out a shirt for you to wear. You slid it on, clutching the fabric tightly because it smelled like him.
He pulled on some boxers and climbed into bed beside you before grabbing his remote and flipping through the horror movie section.
He decided on Sinister, knowing it was one of your favorites. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close. You snaked your legs between his and clung to him like a Boa Constrictor.
He ran his fingers through your wet hair as you concentrated on your movie. He never cared for horror, but he loved watching you get so focused. He worked on detangling each knot in your hair, silently praying that everything would turn out okay. He'd just murdered someone today. A cop. The Sheriff. And somehow, you were still here in his arms.
"You're with a murderer." Rafe whispered against your forehead. The guilt was starting to set in.
"I'm with Rafe Cameron." You responded. "A man that protects what he loves at all costs."
You could feel his tears fall on your face as he hugged your closer.
"Me and Wolf will always be safe with you." You reassured him. And it was true. Rafe loves with his whole heart. If he could get past your flaws you could get past his. He killed someone, yes, but to protect his father. You know he'd kill for you and his baby too.
You felt 100% safe wrapped up in Rafe's arms. Nothing would take you from him.
-
You woke up early. A lot earlier than Rafe. You crawled out of bed and pulled on your jeans. You placed a kiss on Rafe's forehead before sneaking out of his room, desperate for some food. The baby was hungry to say the least.
You could hear Ward and Sarah talking down the hall. You stood outside Sarah's room and listened.
"He shot her!"
"You have to pick between John B or your family!" Ward responded. "Nothing is going to happen to Rafe."
Ward walked out of her room, closing the door and locking it. He spotted you, giving you a look of concern.
"Let me out!" You could hear Sarah pound on the door.
"Why are you locking her in there?" Wheezie asked as she rounded the corner.
"Listen, there was an accident and your sister is very upset so we need to give her some time to calm down." Ward told her.
"Did something happen to the baby?" Wheezie asked, turning to you.
"No!" You told her. "The baby, is just fine, Wheeze." You smile at her. "Let's go have breakfast, yeah?" You ask her, leading her downstairs. You glance back at Ward with a warning look. Telling him he needs to get Sarah under control.
You and Wheezie sit at the kitchen table, nibbling on bacon and talking about the boys in her class.
Rafe rushes into the kitchen. He'd managed to put on sweats but no shirt. He lets out a sigh of relief when he sees you.
"Baby, where'd you go?"
"I'm having breakfast with Wheezie," You say, pulling him in for a kiss. "Baby was hungry."
He sits beside you, wrapping an arm around your stomach and the other around your neck. You offer him a piece of bacon and he takes it in one bite.
"Ew, do I have to be like you guys when I start dating?" Wheezie scoffs.
"You're not dating anyone, Wheeze." Rafe snaps.
You chuckle. "No. Never let a boy do something you're uncomfortable with."
Rafe was nuzzling into your neck now, placing wet kisses along your skin.
"Yuck," Wheezie scoffs. "I hope guys aren't like this."
"They are!" Rafe shouts as Wheezie gets up and walks away. "No boys!"
"You know, being all over me like this is gonna have her thinking all guys are like this." You scold.
"They are."
"Maybe at our age, but not at hers."
"No boys."
You roll your eyes as Rafe lays his head in your lap and wraps his arms around your waist, kissing your belly.
"Rafe, this is the kitchen," Rose scolds as she walks in the room.
Rafe groans and leans up. You laugh and go back to eating your breakfast, feeding Rafe some as well as he still keeps his hands on your stomach.
"They're looking for John B." Ward states as he walks in the kitchen. You and Rafe both look up. "There's a reward out for him. $25,000."
You smile. The island was buying it. John B killed Peterkin. Rafe was safe.
Rose knew. She knew Rafe had done it. But she'd never do anything to rat out this family. Especially since Rafe was going to be a father.
You and Rose had actually gotten quite close. She had a miscarriage at a young age. It was hard. But she was more than happy that you were pregnant and she was dead set on making sure you were eating good and taking care of yourself.
She loved her step children like her own. But Rafe was crazy, Sarah wanted to be a Pogue, and Wheezie spent a lot of time on TikTok. But you always gave Rose the time of day. You liked helping her water her flowers and discussing baby stuff and preparing dinner.
-
John B was almost caught the night prior when you, Rafe, and Kelce tried to smoke out the bell tower. But Topper chose to pick his undying love for Sarah and let John B and Sarah get away.
You had found Rafe outside in the morning, starting up his bike and talking to himself.
"Baby, what's going on?" You asked him, forcing him to calm down and look at you.
"Stay here, Y/N!" Rafe snapped at you before hopping on his bike and riding off.
Oh fuck no.
You ran inside and grabbed the keys to his truck. You hopped in, backing out of the driveway quickly. It wasn't long before you spotted Rafe. You slowed down, trailing behind a bit so he wouldn't notice you. You watched as he pulled into Barry's house.
"Goddammit." You muttered to yourself. You were not wanting to see Barry after what happened a month and a half ago. You were in your second trimester now. Pulling into this house gave you anxiety.
You park the truck and sigh. Finally pulling yourself out of the vehicle and heading inside.
"I'm 100% fucked man!" You heard Rafe yell.
"What the fuck is happening?" You ask as you swing open the screen door.
"Y/N," Rafe said. "Why the fuck are you here?!"
"Don't fucking snap at me, Rafe!"
Rafe shut his mouth. You scoffed and went and sat on Barry's couch.
"Look, how long do you think it's gonna take for them to find John B?" Barry asked. "And when they find him, he's gonna start snitchin'."
"You know it was John B that stole that 25k from you right?"
"Exactly my point, Country Club. The hammer's comin' down on them Pogues."
"Let's go get your fuckin' money then." You say, standing up from the couch.
"Y/N-" Rafe starts.
"Rafe, I swear to God, I will knock your ass out." Your hormones were making themselves known.
"I don't got time for you two to argue. Let's go!" Barry yells.
Rafe glances at you and you give him a stern look back before following him outside. He gives you his helmet as you climb on the back of his bike and wrap your arms tightly around him.
After riding around for a bit you stopped at an intersection as you watched a ton of cop cars drive by. "Shit, they're looking for him." You mutter.
"Yo, is that Kie?" Rafe asks as you see a familiar SUV drive past.
"There goes that lil bitch ass now!" Barry said and you all kicked off and followed Kie's car.
You all hopped off the bikes as you pulled up to an old garage. "Alright you two go around that way and I'll take 'em from over there." Barry says, directing you where to go. You nod and follow Rafe.
"Hey, there. What's goin' on? How you guys doing?" Rafe says as he enters the garage and walks towards Kiara. You stand off to the side and cross your arms, eyeing their movements as Barry holds a gun up to JJ.
God you wished you could fucking fight.
Barry took JJ down easily and you watched Rafe drag Kiara away. "It's not you we want, Kie, okay? Where's John B?"
"I don't know!" She screamed as she slapped him hard across the face.
You started forward, it took everything in you not to attack her.
"I know what you did! You murdered Peterkin!" Kiara yelled at him.
Shit. She knew. John B must have told her. You were too distracted by Kiara and Rafe to notice Pope sneak up behind you and hit you in the back of the knee with a tire iron.
You let out a loud cry as you feel to the floor, catching yourself just before your stomach made contact with the cement.
"Y/N!" Rafe yelled, but before he could get to you, Pope was hitting him.
JJ had tripped Barry, causing him to drop his gun and Kiara was quick to grab it, pointing it at you as you looked up at her from the ground.
You clenched your jaw angrily as you held your hands up in surrender.
"Don't touch her!" You could hear Rafe yell, trying to fight off Pope. "She's fucking pregnant, please! Please don't hurt her!"
Kiara's eyes went wide as she lowered the gun. "Pope, Pope! He's had enough dude!" JJ was yelling, trying to get Pope to release his grip on the cord wrapped around Rafe's neck.
"Rafe!" You cried, trying to get to your feet but the searing pain in your leg was preventing you from doing so.
"Pope, look at me!" Kiara screamed, finally getting Pope's attention as he let go of his hold on your boyfriend. "Come on, we gotta get out of here!"
You were crying now, crawling over to where Rafe was laying covered in blood. "Rafe, baby, are you okay?" You asked, holding his face in your hands.
He was breathing heavily and coughing, pulling you close to him. He clung to you, trying to catch his breath, placing a protective hand over your belly.
"I'm okay, Rafe. I promise." You tell him, cradling his head. "I'm okay."
After a few minutes, Rafe's finally able to sit up. "Where'd he hit you?" He asked.
"In the back of the leg. He didn't hit the baby. I promise." You reassure him.
"He's fucking dead."
"We'll get them, Rafe. Right now we gotta make a plan." You glance over to where Barry was picking himself up off the ground. "You good, Barry?"
"Yup!" Barry groans as he stands up and walks over to help Rafe up.
Rafe helped you up and wrapping his arm around your waist as you limped beside him, leading you out to the bikes. Rafe sat down and you wedged yourself between his legs as you looked over his injuries.
"Sheriff Peterkin, huh?" Barry laughed. "You're better than I thought, Country Club!"
You shoot daggers at Barry and he shuts up. You could tell he wanted to say some dumb shit but he bit it back.
"Look, we're gonna get John B, aight? I'll be in touch." Barry says before walking off towards his bike.
"Hey, baby, look at me." You say, taking Rafe's face between your hands and forcing him to make eye contact. You could tell he was on the verge of a break down.
"I let you get hurt. I put you in danger. I put our baby in danger." He said as he bit back tears.
"No you didn't Rafe. I'm the one who wanted to come. I was the one not paying attention."
"I'm supposed to protect you." He leans his head on your shoulder, pulling you closer by your belt loops.
"Rafey, you do. Shit happens sometimes."
He shakes his head.
"Hey, look at me!" You say again, forcing his head up. You bit your lip as you looked at him. The blood coating his skin did things to you. You wrapped your fingers through his hair at the base of his neck and pulled his head back. You ran your tongue up his neck to his chin, licking off the fresh blood that dripped from his wound.
You heard him groan at the sensation, tightening his grips on your hips as his shorts tightened.
You pressed your lips to his, letting your tongue slip into his mouth as you enjoyed the metallic taste that lingered there.
"Take me home, Rafe." You whispers against his lips.
-
Rafe pulled into your driveway and helped you off the bike. You'd been staying at the Cameron's for so long you were happy to be home.
You also didn't want to walk into Tannyhill bloody and limping, knowing there would be a plethora of questions about what happened.
You limped to your front door and fiddled with your keys.
"Baby, let me help you." Rafe says, taking your keys from you and helping you stand up.
Once you were inside Rafe picked you up and carried you to the couch. You both groaned in pain as you sat down.
"Do you feel okay?" Rafe asks.
"Yeah, baby. Are you okay?" You run your hand over the bruising on his face. He nods. "Take your shirt off."
He does as he's told and you examine the bruises forming on his back from where Pope had hit him with the tire iron. He winced in pain as you lightly pressed his skin.
"Sorry baby..." You said.
"It's okay," He mumbles. You bite your lip as your eyes scan his body. The bruising, the blood. You hated seeing him hurt but it fucking turned you on. "What?" He asks with a smirk.
You suddenly felt shy. You felt your cheeks blush as you smile up at your boyfriend. "Tell me what you need, princess," His voice was low as he smiled and moved on top of you, placing soft kisses on your neck.
Your breath hitched at the sensation. "You want my blood, huh, pretty girl?"
"Mhmm," You moan.
Rafe grabs your jaw, forcing your mouth open. You stick out your tongue as he lets his bloody saliva slip from his lips to yours. "Swallow." He demands and you happily oblige. You could feel the warmth at your core. "Good girl."
Rafe tugs at your shirt, pulling it off over your head, leaving you exposed to him. He brings his lips to your collar bone and sucks at your skin, surely leaving bruises.
"Fuck, Rafe..." You breathe.
He brings his hands to your breasts and massages roughly, flicking your nipple between his fingers and you could feel your need for him growing between your legs.
He left a trail of blood and bruises as he sucked and bit his way down your body. He stops at your stomach, placing a gentle kiss on the small bump starting to form. "You're so amazing," He whispers against your skin. "Carrying our baby."
You smile down at him lovingly, running your fingers through his shaggy hair. You watch as he unbuttons your shorts and slides them down your legs along with your panties. "I'm gonna make you feel so good, mama." He whispers, trailing bloody kisses up and down your thighs.
You gasp as he runs his tongue up the length of your core. He gets to work, circling your clit with his tongue. He pushes two fingers inside you and curls, hitting you in just the right spot as he pumps them in and out of you.
"Oh my - Rafe, fuck!" You cry, reaching your hands back to grip the top of the couch as you tried to steady yourself. Wrapping your legs around his head, you're sure he's suffocating but he just seems hungrier.
You could feel the knot form in the pit of your stomach as he flicked his tongue over your clit just right. He looked up and smiled as he watched you come undone. "Cum for me, baby girl."
The vibration of his words against your most sensitive area sent you over the edge. You couldn't control the way your legs shook as squirted in Rafe's mouth. He didn't stop, swallowing everything you offered him and licking you clean, sending you into overstimulation.
You laid speechless, trying to catch your breath. Rafe looked up at you with a shit eating grin, proud of himself for making you feel so good. Knowing he's the only one that's ever made you feel that good.
He crawled back on top of you, picking you up by they hips and laying you down on the couch beneath him. He sat up, quickly undoing his belt and shorts. You watched him, still trying to catch your breath from the intense orgasm you just experienced.
"You're my girl, you know that?" He asked you, grabbing your legs and pulling you towards him. He leaned over, lips hovering above yours as he lined himself up at your entrance. "My girl. Carrying my baby. Yeah?"
He was being possessive. Dominant. His eyes were crazy and you melted under his spell. "Yours." You promised.
He wrapped his fingers in your hair, cradling your head as he pressed his forehead to you. "My family..." He whispered, pushing into you slowly, allowing you to adjust to his size. "Mine."
You moaned, digging your nails into his shoulders. "I'm yours, Rafe. I'll always belong to you."
He groans into your neck as he pulls out and thrusts into you again. "Say it again,"
"I belong to you, Rafe Cameron."
He looks into your eyes as he thrusts into you harder. Small whimpers escape your lips as you stare back at him. The feeling of him inside you made you want to cry. Not in a way that it hurt, no. In the way that this was the closest you could possibly be and it still wasn't enough. The way he made your entire body tingle. The way the two of you fit together like a puzzle. It was the fact that you both knew you would absolutely die without each other. Like the world would simply stop turning if you were apart. And it was the way the love you had for one another created something new. The life growing inside you, belonged to you and Rafe and it was sacred. Something you would protect at all costs.
You didn't realize you actually were crying until Rafe's tears fell on your face. You were both crying silently as he continued to make love to you. The feeling of him sliding against your inner walls was pure ecstasy and you could feel yourself reaching your high once again.
You wrapped your legs tighter around his waist and pulled him into you. You felt his cock twitch as he spilled inside of you, your walls pulsating around him as you came too.
You both sat silently, trying to catch your breath and stop crying. Rafe cupped your cheek and placed a kiss gently on your lips before pulling out of you and rolling to your side, pulling you tightly against his chest. You were both overwhelmed with emotion. You laced your fingers between his and brought his hand to your lips, kissing his skin softly.
"I love you forever," You whisper before drifting off to sleep.

「 ᝰ.ᐟ entry 07: COLLAB STREAM ⭑.ᐟ 」
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hello, guys! How are you all doing today?” you greeted your fans with a bright smile, adjusting the mic as your avatar waves at the screen.
The chat exploded with messages, colorful usernames scrolling past.
"Glad to see you're all doing well! I'm doing pretty good, too," you said with a laugh.
“Scaramouche will be joining the stream in a few minutes, so please behave and be nice, okay?” You giggled, knowing full well that chaos will be inevitable once he shows up.
chaelvskumi: what are we playing today, kumi? :D
“We’re playing Twin Realms today! It’s Hoyoverse’s newest game—super hyped about it!” Your voice practically bubbled with excitement as you adjusted the game screen on stream.
Before you could continue, a familiar voice cut through the light-hearted atmosphere.
“Are you always this loud, or is it just a special treat for me?” Scaramouche’s sarcastic tone made you freeze for a moment. He had entered the stream.
“Oh, you’re here already,” you deadpanned, turning toward his avatar on the screen—a smirking, cocky character that fits him so well.
“No shit, you let me in,” he replied flatly.
The chat erupted with lmao and omg it’s starting already as the banter kicked off.
“Shut up, Scara,” you shot back
“No thanks,” he said, the smugness in his voice palpable.
You sighed dramatically, “Chat, why did I agree to this collab again? Remind me, please.”
teapotenthusiast: Because you love us suffering.
kuniixfan: lol suffer
zuhakiss: this is a bad idea 😭
scara4ever: scara please marry me
“See? Even chat knows this was a bad idea,” you muttered, switching tabs to load the game.
Scaramouche hummed in mock agreement. “Bad idea for you, maybe. For me? Free entertainment. Watching you struggle is the highlight of my week.”
“Oh, you’re gonna regret saying that when I beat you in every realm today,” you shot back with a smirk.
“As if,” he scoffed. “Let’s see how long you last before rage-quitting.”
“Oh, it’s on.”
The game loaded, its dramatic opening music filling the stream, accompanied by stunning visuals. Aether and Lumine appeared as the starter characters, standing side by side in a glowing field of starlight.
“Wah! It’s Aether and Lumine!” you exclaimed, leaning closer to the screen. “They’re finally together after all that drama, huh?”
“It feels... weird,” Scaramouche replied, his tone more thoughtful than usual. “Seeing them together like this. We only ever get one twin while playing genshin.”
Chat buzzed with excitement.
onittobuto: justice for the twins!!
aetheriswife: hoyoverse finally giving us what we deserve 🗣️‼️
st4rryoi: they look so pretty!
“Well, it’s about time,” you said, cutting through the chatter. “I hope they stay together for the whole game—none of that tragic separation stuff.”
You refocused on the screen. “Hey, come here. I think we need to stand on this platform together to trigger the cutscene.”
“Tch, so demanding,” he grumbled, but his character moved begrudgingly toward yours.
“Oh, shut up and stand still,” you shot back
The two avatars stood side by side on the glowing platform. A dazzling beam of light engulfed them, and the screen began to fade, signaling the start of an cutscene.
Tumblr media
sorayaz: are you ever gonna stream not faceless, kumi? :3
You chuckled nervously, glancing at the chat. “Honestly, I don’t know yet. I still feel a bit anxious about streaming with my face, so... yeah, I’m not sure.”
“How about you, Scara?” you asked, turning the question on him. “Are you ever gonna do a face reveal?”
“I don’t know,” he replied casually. “But I probably will at some point. Still, I don’t really care about that. They should watch me for my gameplay, not my face.”
scaraswife: ithought you’d quit streaming after showing that... face of yours 💀 how are you still going lol?
You froze for a moment, unsure how to respond. “Oh... uhm—”
“If you don’t have anything nice to say,” Scaramouche cut in sharply, his tone colder than usual, “exit this fucking stream. You’re embarrassing me.”
The chat fell silent for a few seconds before erupting:
chaelvskumi: you tell them, scara
kumiluvr: who the hell was that? can someone ban them
beigguangsolos: LMAO THAT’S WHAT YOU GET 💀
saetoru: dw kumi, they're js insecure bc you're pretty
“Anyway,” Scaramouche continued, brushing the comment off like it never happened, “if anyone else feels the need to act stupid, save us both the time and leave now.” You bit back a laugh, shaking your head. “Well, that’s one way to handle it.”
“What? I’m not wrong,” he said

End of Terror
Reader(Wife) X Bruce Wayne/Batman(husband)
Summery: You're terrified of the 'Batman', even though he is your husband. Dick, Jason, and Tim think it's time for you to face your fears. But their plan fails when you start crying.
If you you're more into being a badass and not being scared of Batman, check out Beneath the Cowl.
Rating: Sad, Bruce comfort, happy ending
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"No, no, no, absolutely not," You insisted, your heart racing at the mere suggestion. "You guys can't be serious."
Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian stared at you with a mix of amusement and curiosity, their eyes gleaming with mischief. It was one of those moments when you know your family is about to pull a fast one on you.
"Come on," Dick said with a grin, his voice light and teasing. "You're married to Bruce. Surely you've picked up some courage along the way."
"Courage doesn't come with the wedding vows," you shot back, trying to keep your voice steady. The thought of facing Batman, the caped crusader himself, filled you with a mix of awe and dread. Despite being a part of the Wayne family and knowing the man behind the mask, the legend of Batman was something you had never quite gotten used to. You felt a cold sweat break out on your forehead.
"But think about it," Jason chimed in, a devilish glint in his eye. "It'll be good for you. Like…therapy."
The idea was ludicrous, but something about their enthusiasm made you consider it for a moment. Maybe facing your fear would help you understand Bruce's world better, or at least stop you from jumping at shadows every time he came home from a night out. You took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions raging within you.
"Or," you began, weighing your words carefully, "we could just…not. I mean, I'm happy being the supportive wife and loving mother figure, behind the scenes. You guys are the ones with the cool gadgets and fighting skills." You tried to laugh it off, but the nervousness was evident in your voice.
But before you could say another word, Jason, ever the impulsive one, swooped in and picked you up, lifting you off the ground with surprising ease. "Nope, you're not getting out of it that easily," he said, a smug smirk playing on his lips.
You squealed, a mix of surprise and protest escaping you as he playfully hoisted you over his shoulder. The room spun slightly, and you felt your cheeks flush with a combination of embarrassment and the rush of adrenaline. "Jason, put me down!" You squirmed, trying to regain your footing, but his grip was firm.
Tim and Dick exchanged knowing looks, and you could see the silent agreement passing between them. They weren't about to let you back out of this. "To the batcave," Dick announced with a dramatic flourish, and you felt your stomach drop.
Jason carried you down the hidden staircase, his steps sure and swift. The walls of the passageway whizzed by, and the cold concrete felt like it was closing in on you. The dim light from the glowing Bat-symbols inlaid in the floor was the only guide as you descended deeper into the heart of the mansion's secret.
"Okay! Okay, hear me out," you called out, trying to keep the panic from seeping into your voice. "What if I just watch from a safe distance?"
"No can do," Dick said, his tone firm yet kind. "You're going to face your fear, head-on."
You felt a lump form in your throat as Jason finally set you down on the cold, hard floor of the Batcave. The sight of the sleek, state-of-the-art vehicles and the iconic Batsuit was overwhelming. You had been here before, of course, but it had always been Bruce's domain, a place where you felt more like a guest than a participant. "It's your husband for Pete's sake," Tim said, his voice a mix of understanding and challenge. "You've got this." Jason released you with a playful pat on the back that almost sent you stumbling forward.
You took a moment to gather your thoughts, your eyes darting around the room for an escape. "You know what," you began, your voice a little shaky, "I think I left something in the oven." It was a feeble excuse, but desperation made it sound like the most reasonable thing in the world to your ears. You took a step back toward the stairs, hoping to make a break for it before they could react.
But they were quicker than you. Tim stepped in front of you, blocking your path. "We're not letting you back out now," he said, "You can do this."
Jason took a step closer and gently but firmly pushed you toward the central bat computer where Bruce often sat. The chair looked massive and intimidating, a symbol of the burden your husband carried every night. "You're part of this family," he said, his tone softening. "You need to see that Batman isn't just some boogeyman. He's one of us."
"Guys, I don't think this is a good idea," you repeated, your voice quieter now. "This is already embarrassing."
"Don't worry," Tim reassured you with a gentle smile. "We'll be right beside you the whole time."
"That doesn't make it any less embarrassing," you muttered under your breath.
"Hey Bruce!" Dick called out, his voice echoing through the cavernous space.
You froze, your eyes widening with horror. Oh no, they weren't actually going to do this.
Bruce looked up from his chair, the bat-computer screens flickering in the background casting shadows on his face, making him look more like the Dark Knight than your loving husband. He studied you with a furrowed brow, his eyes searching for signs of distress. "What's this?" he asked, his voice deep.
The boys exchanged glances, their expressions a blend of excitement and trepidation. "We thought it was time," Dick began, a hint of a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth, "for her to get up close and personal with the man of the house."
Jason's arms remained wrapped around your shoulders, holding you in place. Your lips were pressed tightly together, a silent protest to the situation. You could feel the tension in your body, a fight or flight response ready to kick in at any moment. The room felt too small, the walls closing in on you.
"What's going on?" Batman repeated, his tone deep and commanding, which did absolutely nothing to soothe your racing heart. The intensity in his eyes, usually reserved for the criminals he faced, was now focused solely on you.
"We just…we thought it would be good for her to get to know you, you know, the other side of you," Tim stammered, clearly nervous.
Your nose flared and your chest rose and fell rapidly as Batman took a step forward, his gaze unwavering. You could feel his eyes on you, analyzing, calculating. It was the same look he gave to criminals he had cornered in a dark alley, and it was terrifying.
"Darling?" he asked, his voice a low rumble.
Your eyes watered out of fear, the masked figure before you a stark reminder of the world you had married into. The mask that Batman donned every night was a symbol of the darkness he faced, a world you had only glimpsed from the safety of the manor. The reality was so much more intense than you had ever allowed yourself to imagine.
"It's okay," Dick said softly, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "You're not in danger. He's just trying to help you."
But the words didn't penetrate the fear that had taken root in your chest. You realized, too late, that this was a mistake. A terrible, horrifying mistake. You allowed yourself to be talked into facing your fear, and now you were standing before the very embodiment of it. You felt like a moth drawn to a flame, unable to look away from the intimidating figure that was both your protector and your terror.
You let out a small, fearful whimper. The sound was barely audible over the hum of the Batcave's machinery, but the boys heard it, their expressions shifting from excitement to concern. "Oh no, what have we done?" Tim whispered to Dick.
As the tears began to fall, the boys' reactions were immediate. Dick's hand squeezed your shoulder tighter, his eyes filled with regret. "Hey, it's okay, we're sorry," he said, his voice genuine.
Jason took a step back, his arms falling to his sides. "Shit, we didn't mean to scare you like this," he says, his smugness replaced with a look of contrition.
Batman took a step closer, his hand reaching for the cowl that covered his head, he lifted the mask away, revealing his face. The stark contrast between the Batman and the man you knew and loved was jarring, but somehow, seeing his eyes, his real eyes, filled with warmth and love, made you feel a little less afraid.
"It's okay," Bruce said, his voice softer now, "I'm right here."
He took a step closer, his hand outstretched, his hands comes to your trembling arm. The warmth of his touch was reassuring, grounding you in reality amidst the chaos of your racing thoughts. He pulled you into his arms, and you buried your face in his chest, crying into the fabric of his Batsuit. The material was tough and unyielding, but the embrace was anything but. You could feel the tension in his muscles as he held you tightly, offering you the safety and comfort you desperately needed.
"I'm sorry," you managed to whisper between sobs. "I just can't do this."
Bruce's arms tightened around you, and he leaned down to kiss the top of your head. "It's okay," he murmured. "It's alright to be scared." His voice was soothing, the gentle rumble of it vibrating through his chest and into yours, providing a comfort that was as familiar as it was surprising in this alien environment.
He narrowed his eyes at the boys, his gaze stern as he took in their concerned expressions. With covering your ear, his voice gets low, dangerously low that he feared might scare you even more. "What were you thinking?" He whispers to them.
Dick, Jason, and Tim all looked at Bruce apologetically. "We just… we wanted to help," Dick said, his voice low. "We didn't mean to make it like this."
"Well, you've made your point," Bruce said, his voice firm but not unkind. He looked at the three of them over your head, his eyes speaking volumes of his disappointment. "We'll talk about this later. Leave."
The boys nodded, their heads drooping as they retreated up the stairs, the sound of their footsteps echoing through the cavernous space. Once they were gone, Bruce turned his full attention to you, gently lifting your chin so he could look into your eyes. "It's alright. I got you," he said, his thumb brushing away a tear that had escaped down your cheek. "I'm sorry they put you through this."
You took another shaky breath, trying to calm your racing heart. "I'm sorry for being such a big scaredy cat," you whispered, a fresh wave of tears threatening to spill over. "I'm afriad of my husband in a costume." Tears of embarrassment joined fear, making your eyes burn.
Bruce's expression softened further, his hand stroking your hair. "You're not a scaredy cat," he said firmly. "You're human. And it's okay to be scared sometimes."
He stepped back and gestured to the chair he had been sitting in. "Why don't you sit down?" he offered, his voice gentle. "Let's talk about this."
You nodded and took a tentative step toward the chair, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on your shoulders. As you sat, Bruce knelt down in front of you, his eyes never leaving yours. "You know I'd never do anything to hurt you, right?" he asked, his voice steady and calm.
You nodded again, sniffling. "I know," you said, your voice shaky. "But it's just…the mask,"
"The mask is just a tool," Bruce said, his voice gentle. "It's just something I wear to keep the people I care about safe."
You took a deep, trembling breath and nodded, trying to convince yourself of the truth in his words. "I know that," you said, "but it's like…it's a part of you that I've never really seen before."
Bruce's gaze was intense, his eyes searching yours for any sign of doubt. "And that scares you?"
You nodded, feeling the weight of the admission. "It's just so…intimidating. You're so powerful, so strong. It's like you're a different person when you wear it."
Bruce took a deep breath, his eyes searching yours. "Do you want to try it?" he asked, his voice tentative.
You blinked in surprise, pulling back slightly. "What?"
Bruce nodded towards the Batsuit, hanging ominously on the mannequin nearby. "Do you want to try on the cowl?" he clarified, his voice still gentle. "Maybe it will help you understand, or at least face your fear."
You stared at the mask, the symbol of the man who had sworn to protect Gotham. Your heart was still racing, but curiosity began to edge out the fear. "I don't know," you murmured, your voice barely a whisper.
"You don't have to," Bruce said, his voice soothing. "But if you want to, I'll be right here."
You took a deep breath, your eyes locked on the cowl. It was an eerie sight, a stark reminder of the fearsome figure he transformed into when the night called. But it was also a symbol of hope, of the man who had sworn to keep the city safe. With a trembling exhale you nod.
Bruce carefully lifted the mask from the mannequin's head and held it out to you. It was surprisingly light, the fabric cool against your skin as you took it from him.
"Just hold it for a minute," he said, his eyes never leaving yours. You took the cowl, feeling the weight of the material in your hands. The symbol of the bat was stark against the black, the pointed ears standing tall and ominous.
You studied it, your heart racing, and took a deep breath. "Did you know I had a thought to not put the ears on it?" Bruce asked, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. You looked up at him, puzzled. "When I first started out," he explained, "I thought maybe it was going to make me look ridiculous."
The thought made you smile despite yourself. The idea of Bruce Wayne, billionaire playboy and the man you loved, worrying about looking ridiculous was almost endearing. "But it worked," you said, your voice still a little shaky.
"It did," he agreed, his smile widening slightly. "But it's a reminder that even the biggest fears can be conquered. Sometimes, all it takes is a change in perspective."
With trembling hands, you slowly lifted the cowl to your face, the cool fabric brushing against your cheeks. You felt his hands gently guide it into place, the softness of the material surprising you. The room went dark, before returning once the eye holes aligned with your sight. Your breathing hitched as you felt the mask settle around your head, the weight of the iconic symbol suddenly resting on your shoulders.
"How do I look?" you managed to ask, your voice muffled by the cowl.
"Just like you," Bruce said, his voice thick with emotion. "But with a touch of badass."
You couldn't help but chuckle at his words, despite the fear still bubbling in your stomach. The mask was surprisingly comfortable, the material molding to your face as if it had been made just for you. The room looked the same, but through the eyes of the cowl, it felt…different. More intimidating, yet strangely empowering.
You took a deep breath, feeling the material shift with you as you inhaled. It was eerily quiet, the muffled sounds of the Batcave around you making the room feel even more vast. You looked down at Bruce, who was still kneeling before you, his eyes searching yours, looking for any sign of distress.
"Do you want me to take it off?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
You shook your head, surprised by your own determination. "No," you said. "It's…interesting."
Bruce chuckled, a sound that seemed to resonate through the cave. "Does it help that I think you look adorable?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "The ears look more like a rabbit's than a bat's."
You couldn't help but laugh, the tension in the room dissipating slightly. "Thanks," you smile. "I'll be sure to strike fear into the hearts of Gotham's criminals with my bunny-like prowess."
Bruce's chuckle grew into a full-blown laugh, and you felt some of your own fear subside. You reached up to adjust the mask, the gesture feeling surprisingly natural. "I guess it's not so scary now that it's on me," you admitted, a hint of wonder in your voice.
Bruce's eyes lit up with understanding. "It's all about perspective," he said, his voice gentle.
You took another deep breath, feeling the mask mold to the contours of your face. It was still a bit suffocating, but with each breath, it became a little more comfortable.
"Do you think you're ready to try again?" Bruce asked, his voice steady and reassuring. "With me wearing the cowl?"
You took a moment to consider it, the weight of the decision heavy on your shoulders. You knew he wouldn't push you, but the look in his eyes, a mix of hope and understanding, made you want to try. You nodded slowly, your heart hammering in your chest. "Okay," you whispered.
Bruce took the mask from you, his movements deliberate and gentle. "I'll put it on slowly," he said, "so you can get used to the feeling. But if you get to scared, just tell me and I'll take it off."
You nodded, watching as he placed the cowl back on his head, his eyes meeting yours as he aligned the eyeholes. The mask only covered the top half of his face, leaving the bottom half exposed. It was a strange sight, seeing Bruce with one half of his face hidden in the shadows of the bat, the other half open and vulnerable.
"How do I look?" he asked, his voice slightly muffled since only half his head was though.
You couldn't help but laugh, the sight was so absurd. "Not scary," you said, a smile on your lips that felt surprisingly genuine, warming Bruce's heart. "Just… really, really weird."
Bruce chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "I suppose it's not everyone's cup of tea," he said, "But how do you feel?"
You took a moment to gather your thoughts. The mask was definitely a bit much, but with Bruce's kind eyes looking back at you, it was less terrifying and more…odd. "I can handle it," you said, trying to sound braver than you felt.
Bruce nodded, his eyes still on yours as he lifted the cowl completely over his head. The transformation was instantaneous. The gentle, loving husband was replaced by the imposing figure of the Dark Knight. Your heart raced as he kneeled before you, the mask hiding his features but not the concern in his posture.
"Knock knock," Bruce said suddenly.
You blinked, realizing he was waiting for your response. You managed a small laugh. "Who's there?"
"Waddle," Bruce's voice was hiding a smile.
You frowned, not quite understanding the joke. "Waddle who?"
Bruce's chuckle, but the twinkle in his eyes was unmistakable. "Waddle it take for you to open the door?"
You couldn't help but smile at the corny joke, the tension in the room easing just a bit. "Very funny, Mr. Wayne," you said, trying to keep your voice steady.
Bruce stood up, the Batsuit seeming to swallow him whole. He towered over you, the mask now fully in place. You took a deep breath, trying to remind yourself that it was still Bruce under there, that he wasn't going to harm you.
"I can take it off if want me to," he said, his voice now a low rumble. The sound was unmistakable, the same one that had sent so many criminals fleeing in terror. But here, in the quiet of the Batcave, it was almost…comforting.
You swallowed hard, taking another deep breath. "No," you said, your voice stronger than before. "It's alright."
Bruce took your hand in his, the touch sending a warm sensation through your trembling fingers. "I'm very proud of you," he said, his voice a comforting rumble. "You're doing really good."
You nodded, trying to believe him. The mask was still a daunting presence, but with each second that passed, it became less terrifying and more… familiar. You took a tentative step closer, looking up into the shadowy eyes of the cowl. "It's just a mask," you murmured, trying to convince yourself.
"Tell me when," Bruce said, his voice a low rumble that seemed to resonate in the very air around you.
You took a deep breath and nodded, your heart racing. "Could you…?" you began, your voice trailing off as you searched for the right words.
Without another word, Bruce reached up and began to lift the cowl off his head, revealing his face inch by inch. The shadows danced across his features, the stark contrast between the darkness of the mask and the warmth of his skin making your breath hitch in your throat.
As the mask came away, you could see the concern in his eyes, the furrow in his brow smoothing out as he searched yours for any sign of fear. But there was something else there, too. Pride. You had faced your fear, even if just for a moment.
"Are you okay?" he asked again, his hand still holding the cowl.
You nodded, the reality of the situation setting in. You had just faced the symbol of your fear and lived to tell the tale. "Yeah," you said, your voice a little more steady, "I think so."
Bruce's grip on your hand tightened slightly, his thumb tracing gentle circles on the back of your palm. "You did really good," he repeated, his voice a warm rumble of approval. It was strange to hear such gentle words coming from the man you knew as the Dark Knight. But here, in the dimly lit confines of the Batcave, the mask had become less a barrier and more a bridge between the two of you.
You took a moment to collect yourself, feeling the adrenaline slowly seep away. "Thank you," you murmured, your voice still a little shaky. "I'm sorry I couldn't… go longer."
Bruce's grip on your hand tightened reassuringly. "It's okay," he said, his voice gentle. "This isn't something you can just rush." He stepped closer, the warmth of his body a stark contrast to the coldness of the cowl. "But you took the first step. That's all that matters."
You looked up into his eyes, the blue of his gaze piercing through the fear that had clouded them moments before. "I just…I didn't know it would be so hard," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper.
"It's not supposed to be easy," Bruce said, his thumb still tracing circles on your palm. "But you did it. And that's all that matters."
You nodded, feeling a swell of emotion in your chest. "Thank you," you murmured, the words feeling inadequate for the gratitude you felt. "For understanding."
Without another word, Bruce pulled you into his arms, enveloping you in a warm, strong hug. The smell of the Batsuit, a mix of leather and something faintly metallic, washed over you. But it was his arms around you, the steady beat of his heart, that made you feel safe.
He kissed the side of your head. It was a gentle, reassuring gesture that spoke volumes. "That's what I'm here for," he murmured, his voice a soothing rumble in your ear.

Hiii sorry I’m the anon that requested prompt 33 and 39. I would like to request the soft prompt plsssss
THANK YOUUUU<333
no worries at all, this was about wonwoo, right? god i hope this was about wonwoo, there are so many requests i think i missed it :( thank you for requesting, hopefully you will like it! 💜
fluff prompt: 'you ramble and it's adorable.' 'should i stop talking?' 'don't, your voice is very soothing.'
'what..is this?' you ask, pausing at the doors. 'woo?'
wonwoo gets shy for a second, chewing his bottom lip and looking at the mess he made. well, it's an artsy mess, mess that is meant to be comfortable for you and him for your movie night. he tried to choose your favorite blankets and bought all of your favorite snacks; pulling everything together on the floor of your living room proved to be an unexpectedly difficult task, because he had no idea how to make it look pretty. even right now, he's not fully satisfied with an end result, but the way your eyes shine with awe, he thinks maybe he did fine. 'do you like it?' he asks, reaching out for your hand. 'thought i can make our movie night a bit better.'
'i love it.' you assure him, taking his hand but still looking at what he created on the floor. 'this is so cute, oh my god. thank you.'
wonwoo relaxes, tension leaves his body as he hears sincerity in your voice. you really do like it and this is enough to make him happy, giddy, excited for this night. you both quickly change to sleep clothes and wonwoo lets you choose, not minding that you take forever to pick something, going from one option to another.
'let's do this one! it's based on the book,' you suggest and wonwoo nods without looking. whole point of movie night for him is to be close to you, movie choice is irrelevant in his opinion. 'okay, i'm putting this one but i gotta tell you a bit of the history cause in book it's explained really well.'
he loves your voice. he loves to hear you talk about things that interest you, because you go into details and lose yourself in explanation, looking beautiful in your excitement to share your knowledge. 'you ramble and it's adorable,' he comments, watching you blush prettily for him.
opening credits of the movie end and instead of replying to his comment, you quickly glance at the screen and then back at him. 'should i stop talking? movie started.'
wonwoo shakes his head, taking your hand and bringing it to his lips for a small kiss. 'no, don't. your voice is very soothing.'
he means it. just like he can tell when you're sincere, so can you and your answering smile at his answer makes him want to forget about the movie and just cuddle with you this whole night, listening to you talk. he tells you this much, loving how you laugh and shake your head. 'i'll continue, but you gotta pay attention to the movie too.'
wonwoo nods, but discreetly turns volume down, staring up at you like you're more interesting than any movie. and you are.

28!
29!
30!
I set my pair of dumbbells back onto their rack and take a seat on the black bench that's sat in front of me to catch my breath.
Panting heavily, I take a sip from my rose gold Stanley cup and towel dry the numerous beads of sweat rolling down my forehead and chest.
Once I'm cooled off and my breathing returns to normal, I head to the treadmill to do the last 10 minutes of my workout.
The song "Lifestyle" by Rich Gang and Young Thug plays through my headphones, and I mouth the words while doing some light jogging.
About 4 minutes in, I feel a presence behind me, causing me to look back.
An older random man, at least 50 years old, is stood there just watching me.
I pause the machine and hop off, slowly taking my headphones off as well. "Hi. Is there something you needed?"
He lightly chuckles. "Not at all, sweetheart. I'm just enjoying the view."
Oh for fucks sake!
"Yeeaaah," I respond hesitantly, turning back to the treadmill. "I'm not interested, sorry."
He lightly grabs my waist, causing me to stop half-way. "Baby wait! I just wanna ta-"
"Okay first of all," I exclaim, backing out of his grip. "Don't touch me. I don't even know you."
He crosses his arms over his chest and swallows hard. "Well that seems unfai-"
"And secondly," I continue, cutting him off. "I told you I'm not interested. You're making me very uncomfortable. So please, respectfully, walk away from me."
"I don't think I will," he instigates, proceeding to walk even closer to me. "You know exactly what you're doing in these tight little shorts, baby."
He starts inching his hand closer and closer to my ass until another person clears their throat, making him stop in his tracks and turn around.
I look behind him, where the sound came from, and see a much younger looking and, not for nothing, but super attractive guy.
My eyes automatically scan his body, which is filled with what looks like cultural tattoos and sweat that makes his gorgeous caramel-colored skin glisten under the ceiling lights.
"I believe the lady asked to be left alone?" he clarifies, his hands in his pockets.
The man throws his hands up innocently. "I wasn't trying anything man, I swear."
"I see," the attractive guy says, nodding and smoothing out his freshly-trimmed beard. "Then why are you still here, uce?"
Uce? What does that mean?
"Because uce," the man replies, mocking him. "I'm a guy that likes conversation. And I saw a pretty woman so I walked over. What does this have to do with you anyway?"
The attractive guy's nostrils flare in reaction to being mimicked. "It has everything to do with me when I'm witnessing a lame ass dude come up to a female, making her uncomfortable in a place where she should feel safe. Have some shame bruh."
With every word he inches closer and closer to the man, even pointing his finger at him.
The man suddenly turns speechless, and places his hands in his pockets.
"That's exactly what the fuck I thought," the attractive guy continues. "So I suggest you get outta here before things get real ugly."
The man then rolls his eyes, scans my body one more time, and walks away.
The attractive guy watches him leave and comes walking over to me. "Hey. You alright?"
I blink numerous times out of shock. "Y-yeah I'm good. Thank you so much for that."
He gives me a warm smile. "Anytime. It infuriates me seeing dudes disrespecting women that way. I'm glad I saw it before he could do anything else to you."
I return the smile. "Well, thank you again. I appreciate it. More than you know."
"You're very welcome..." his voice trails off, and he tilts his head at me.
"Oh!" I reply, holding out my hand. "I'm Gianna. It's nice to meet you."
He flashes me another gorgeous smile and shakes it. "You too, and that's a real pretty name. I'm Josh."
"Thank you," I reply, lightly blushing, and stick my hands in my pockets once we end the handshake.
He stops for a minute and takes a deep breath before speaking up again. "Say Gianna, I know we met in a kinda unfortunate way, and the timing of all this may be off. But would you like to hang out sometime?"
His gorgeous ass? Wants to hang out with me?
I give him a soft smile, shrugging. "Sure, why not?"
He nods, rubbing his hands together. "Cool, cool. How about tonight? I'll text you my address and we can kick it? Have dinner or something?"
I nod, pull out my phone, open my contact list, and hand it to him. "Sure, that sounds nice."
He enters his number and hands it back to me. "Perfect. I'll see you tonight."
I smile, nodding. "See you then."
He gives me one last smile before walking off, allowing me to finish my set and head home.
————————————————————————————————
It's now 5pm and I just got out of the shower.
Josh and I are meeting at his place at 5:45 so I gave myself some extra time to get ready and mentally prepare.
He texted me to dress comfy, so I decide to go with a cotton white sweater and pants set, some beige slides, my belly piercing, some silver jewelry, and my LV purse.
I straighten my hair and spray some yummy smelling perfume before heading out.
—————————————————————————————————
You've got this Gi.
Just be yourself and he'll love you.
I take a deep breath before leaving my car and heading up Josh's walkway and to the front door.
Seconds after I ring his doorbell, I hear dogs barking and then shuffling towards the door.
Once it opens, I practically drool at the sight I'm brought with.
He's dressed in a black muscle tee, grey sweatpants with his print visible, Nike socks, hoop earrings in, and a nice gold chain around his muscular neck.
"Hey again," he coos, standing against the door.
I give him a soft smile. "H-Hi. You look nice."
He chuckles. "Thanks, love. You do too. Come on inside."
I do as he says and I'm greeted with three adorable french bulldogs. "Your dogs are adorable."
He closes the door behind me and smiles when he sees me petting them. "Thank you."
He introduces me to Pongo, Mumble, and Jax.
As he's making dinner, I chill on the couch with them.
"They took a liking to you quick," he exclaims, watching us with his arms folded leaning against the wall. "Normally it takes them a while to get used to new people."
I look up at him and smile. "I have a pup of my own. Maybe they can smell her."
He chuckles and sits with us, his arm draped over the top of the couch behind me.
"So," I begin, rubbing Pongo's belly and turning to Josh. "What's on the menu for tonight?"
He smiles, looking back at the stove. "Garlic butter shrimp pasta with some oven roasted veggies on the side."
My stomach growls at the sound of it and faint smells coming from the kitchen. "That sounds amazing. I can't wait."
He smiles and we continue to play with the dogs until dinner is ready.
"Josh holy shit," I say, covering my mouth as I chew a piece of shrimp. "This is amazing!"
He smiles proudly, taking a sip from his wine glass. "I'm so glad you like it. I've been working on the recipe for a while."
"Feels like it's perfected now," I reply, setting my fork down and picking up my wine glass.
He chuckles and we spend the rest of dinner getting to know each other.
From dinner I found out that:
- he's full blown Samoan
- the term "uce" means brother / bro
- he was born in San Francisco, raised in Pensacola, and moved to Atlanta a few years ago
- he has 2 sons named Jeyce and Jaciyah
- he has 6 siblings including a twin brother named Jonathan
"So," he begins. "If you don't mind me asking, what do you do?"
I take a sip of wine before answering. "Well, I've been into wrestling for a little bit now. I got signed to NXT a couple weeks ago."
A gorgeous smile appears on his face. "That's awesome Gi! Congrats!"
I giggle. "Thank you! And you said you're already in WWE, right?"
"Yup," he replies, nodding. "I debuted with my brother back in 2010."
I smile, tilting my head. "That's awesome that you guys have been in it together the whole time."
He smiles, folding his arms and leaning on the island. "Yeah it's been one hell of a ride. But I'm grateful for him."
We talk more throughout the night and it's honestly such a good time.
It sounds weird, but I feel safe with him.
Despite me meeting him less than 12 hours ago.
—————————————————————————————————
It's now 9pm, almost 2 hours since we finished dinner, and we're sat in the backyard near his fire pit.
"Nice out tonight, huh?" he asks, looking up at the sky, which is filled with stars and a crescent moon.
I nod, smiling, just watching the fire. "It really is."
Out of the corner of my eye, I see him look down at me and kinda just watch me for a while.
After a few moments, I grow the confidence to look back, which causes a shy smile to appear on both of our faces.
"You okay?" I ask, placing my hand on his thigh softly.
"All good," he replies. "You really are gorgeous by the way."
My cheeks turn red hot and I look down shyly, picking the blanket that he brought out for us up to my chin. "Thank you, Josh."
He chuckles and scoots in closer, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
I get goosebumps at the feeling of his warm and soft hand on my skin.
"Don't get all shy now love," he teases. "You were just touching my thigh a second ago."
I playfully roll my eyes, giggling. "It's not my fault you're fine as hell, sir."
He raises his eyebrows as if he's shocked. "Fine as hell, huh?"
I nod confidently, trying to swallow every last bit of nervousness. "You know you are."
He pretends to have long hair and flicks it off his shoulders.
We share a laugh and he cups my face, stroking my cheek with his thumb.
"You have a real nice smile too," he continues, cupping my face and stroking my cheek with his thumb.
I try to put my head down shyly again, but he lifts my chin before I can, allowing us to lock eyes.
We both slowly lean in and, soon enough, our lips are connected in the sweetest and most romantic kiss I've ever experienced.
With every stroke, our lips move in sync and his hands wander further and further along my sides.
Eventually, we pull away slowly and I bite my bottom lip softly.
"You're a good kisser," I say, just above a whisper, my hands still playing with his dreamy curls.
He chuckles and takes a strand of hair away from my face. "So are you, mama. I could kiss those lips forever."
"What's stopping you?" I tease, brushing my nose against his.
He smirks and connects our lips again, this time far more passionately.
The kiss lasts about 5 minutes - tongue included and everything - and not gonna lie, I was a little bummed when it finally ended.
"This is gonna sound a little upfront and please let me know if you think it's too soon," he begins, stroking my side. "But...I haven't felt this way since I first started dating my ex wife so it must be true."
I tilt my head, rubbing soft circles his back. "What's that?"
He smiles and stares directly into my eyes. "I think I'm in love with you, baby."
I bite my bottom lip gently and take a deep breath before finally speaking up to respond. "I'm in love with you too."
He raises an eyebrow. "Really? You are?"
I nod, smiling. "I think so. And I’m willing to find out for sure.”
He lets out a sigh of relief and wraps me into a warm hug, and I immediately hug back.
"I was so nervous that you'd whack me across the face or something," he confesses once we pull away, making me giggle.
"Now why would I look to do damage to a face as handsome as yours?" I tease, playing with his beard.
He chuckles and pulls me in for another kiss.
Our third of the night.
And hopefully the third of many more to come.
After a little while more of hanging out and enjoying each other's company, it gets pitch black outside.
"I should probably start heading home," I exclaim, rubbing the bicep of his arm that's wrapped around my waist.
He sighs. "You sure you can't stay?"
I lay my head on his shoulder and kiss his jaw. "I'd love to, but not tonight."
He kisses my temple and gets up, holding out his hand. "I understand, baby. Come on, I'll walk you out."
I smile and take it, getting up.
I crouch down to his pups and say goodbye with tummy rubs and lots of kisses. "I'll see you guys soon."
They respond with barks and licks to my face.
Josh smiles, watching us before I stand back up and take his hand once more.
We head out to my car, share a couple more kisses, a little more small talk, and I head off.
—————————————————————————————————
I park in my driveway and automatically take notice to a bouquet of pink roses sitting at my front door.
Once I make it to them, I smile, reading the note attached:
Thank you for the best night I've had in a while. I'm so happy we met earlier today, even though it feels like I've known you forever. I hope you enjoy these and I'll see you soon. ❤️
- Love, Josh
I place the note in my pocket and pick up the bouquet, smelling the flowers.
I head inside, set my stuff down, and immediately text him.
Gianna ❤️: You're adorable! 🥹
Josh 🩵: You like them baby?
Gianna ❤️: I love them. They're beautiful. Thank you. 🤍
Josh 🩵: Just like you. You're welcome mama. ❤️
You loved "Just like you. You're welcome mama. ❤️"
It hasn't even been a full 24 hours, and I already love him more than anything.

Chapter 4 - The Piano Man
Chapter Summary - It's the night before Y/N is supposed to meet with Seonghwa and his partners, and a new visitor is waiting for her in her dressing room.

The nerves kicked in a lot earlier than I thought. The Friday night before I was supposed to meet Seonghwa and his partners, I felt unbelievably sick to my stomach. So much so that I genuinely thought I was going to throw up during the final bows.
I shuffled into my dressing room, hand rubbing my stomach as a pout adorned my features. A throat cleared from my right, causing me to jump in surprise. A tall man with dyed blond hair slowly pushed off his spot on the far wall.
"Sorry for scaring you." He says, his voice deep and gruff. I clear my throat.
"It's fine, just tired from the show," I say, offering him a smile. Another handsome guy coming to visit me? I really must be good.
"Seonghwa said we should come and watch, didn't understand why until now." He states and the smile fades. Seonghwa. He knew Seonghwa. "Oh! I'm Mingi." He says with an awkward smile, extending his hand before quickly retracting it and wiping the palm on his hands. He was nervous, in a cute way, which I found funny considering how intimidating he looked.
"You know Seonghwa?" I ask. I walked past him and towards my dresser where sure enough another bouquet of fresh Gardenias waited for me.
"Uh, yeah. He sent me to give you details about tomorrow night." He says, hesitating to follow me. I bit back a smile, already finding his presence endearing.
"So you're one of his assistants?" I ask, glancing up at him through the mirror. He looked too well dressed to be just an assistant, however I'd also expect ATZ Corps workers to be paid extremely well.
"No." He chuckles. "I'm a co-owner, like him. He just couldn't make it tonight so he sent me... Said you liked Gardenias so.." He mumbles the last part, scuffing his shoe on the carpet.
So he was one of the men who I'd be meeting with tomorrow, making that 3 I knew the faces of now. It felt refreshing to talk to him, then again it was the same with Seonghwa before he offered me that suspicious document. Was Mingi going to be the same?
"Uhm, miss? You okay?" Mingi asks, clearing his throat. My eyes widened as I turned to face him.
"Sorry! So, what were those details?" I ask, leaning back on the counter.
He thinks for a moment, like trying to order the details correctly in his head for a moment before nodding to himself in satisfaction.
"We'll be sending a car to your place at 6pm sharp, so be ready by then." He says. "We've booked a private room so it'll just be the nine of us."
"It's not expensive is it?" I cringe slightly, based on the place Seonghwa took me for our first date, I expected this dinner spot to cost more than all my furniture combined. Especially if there were private rooms to be booked.
"You don't need to worry about paying, we got that handled," Mingi says, offering me a toothy grin. I smiled back, however, my eyes didn't. Mingi looked at me for a moment before letting out a heavy sigh.
"I'm sorry, about all this." He says, tilting his head down in semi-shame. Was this guy really apologizing? I didn't think any of them had that capability considering their upbringing. "I know it's a lot, and a few of us agree." He explains.
"It's just easier for us this way. We all have similar types and it's hard to date when you're in our line of work." He rambled. He was rambling, to me, in my dressing room about his and his partner's odd situation. I couldn't help but bite back a smile finding his boba-eyed expression cute.
"Mingi, it's okay," I say with a breathy laugh, he perks up at the sound.
"Really?" He asked.
"Yes, really."
He stared at me momentarily, studying to see if I was being genuine before clearing his throat and looking away.
"I should warn you, some of the guys are a little... High maintenance." He says moving across the room to look at the Gardenias tucked away in the corner of the room.
"High maintenance?" I question, turning to find my clothes to get changed.
"They like things done a specific way. May not like it that you're asking for a change." He explains. "Especially Captain." He chuckles before coughing. "I mean Hongjoong."
I nod, taking my folded clothes before heading towards the changing room.
"Would you like me to leave?" Mingi asks his figure stiffening. I shake my head.
"No, you're fine," I say, giving him a smile before closing the curtain to keep myself out of sight. I couldn't hear him move as I changed back into my normal clothes, which gave me a sinking feeling. A thought crossed my mind, was this really one of the owners of ATZ Corp? What if he was just a random guy? I shake that thought to the back of my head, pulling my shirt over my head before pulling the curtain back.
Mingi stood exactly where he was, his eyes on the curtain and face stern. I stare back at him for a moment before he perks up suddenly.
"Are you hungry?" He asks, offering me a smile. I think for a moment.
"A little," I answered, shoving the sick feeling in my stomach down. If he's paying, I'll go. Free food is free food.
"Cool! Uhm, I'll wait for you outside?" He asks, taking a big step towards the door. I nod and watch him as he leaves, shutting the door behind him quietly.
Mingi was odd. I figured that pretty fast. He seemed a bit shy, probably pushed to talk to me by Seonghwa himself. Did I hurt the man's pride by my phone call? Is that why he laughed? To hide his embarrassment? I smile to myself at the thought, rarely did I manage to do that.
I quickly pack away my things, preparing everything for Monday night show preparations before taking a deep breath. I walked towards the door, opening it to see Mingi leaning on the opposite wall, waiting patiently. His hands were in his pockets and yet again, he was staring blankly at the door. I give him a tight-lipped smile, closing the door behind me.
He pushes himself off the wall before falling into step beside me.
"Can I ask you something?" I ask him as the cold night air hits our faces. He hums positively in response, holding the door open for me before shoving his hands back into his pockets. "Have you guys done this before? Like dated one girl?"
"Once before." He answers, his eyes ahead.
"What happened?" I ask softly. "If it's alright me asking?"
Mingi hesitates for a moment before speaking. "Can I be honest with you?"
I blink in surprise, "Of course." I whisper.
"The rumors that you may have heard... About our company and how we may be involved in some darker stuff." He starts, his throat bobbing as he swallows nervously. "They aren't entirely false."
I stop in my tracks, staring up at him. "You're serious?" I question.
He just looks down at me, his gaze serious and unblinking. "I'm telling you this now before you get into something you can't get out of." He says. "Because trust me when I say, once you're in, there's no getting out."
My feet are frozen to the pavement as I feel a lump in my throat. "What type of dark stuff?" I ask, my eyes boring into his.
"Stuff I shouldn't tell you." He answers softly. His eyes lowered for a moment before he turned to continue walking. My feet scramble into gear as I start to follow him again.
"Why are you telling me this? Wouldn't you get into trouble?" I ask, trying to catch up to his long strides.
"Because I don't want what happened to her to happen to you." He answers. "If there's a chance for me to save you by warning you now, then I'll take it." He stops outside of a pizza parlor, holding the door open for me once again.
He doesn't order anything, waiting patiently before paying for my pizza, carrying the takeaway box for me, and walking me back to my apartment. The apartment complex was probably as old as my grandparents, in desperate need of repairs and touch-ups. Occasionally the hot water would turn off, which meant I'd have to travel from the 7th floor to the basement where more often than not a lot of sketchy things would go done. I swear it's haunted, which doesn't help with my anxiety.
Mingi stands outside the lobby, staring up at the old and dingy building before handing me the pizza box.
"I thought you had money?" He questions, eyes gazing up at the building. I snap my head to look at him and raise my eyebrow.
"How did you know that?" I ask, unlocking the lobby doors.
His ears go pink and he stutters for a moment. "We may have done some research." He murmurs, lowering his head.
I look him up and down for a moment before shaking my head. "Thanks for the food, and walking me home," I say, holding the lobby door open with my foot.
"Y/N?" He calls out quietly. "Think about what I said, please?" His voice was soft, pleading. His boba eyes stared into mine, searching for anything to soothe his worries.
I sigh, glancing back into the building before looking back at him. "I will," I say, before turning and walking inside.
Tumblr media
I did think about what he said. I was up all night staring up at my ceiling. What happened to that other girl? Did she die? Why would Mingi feel so obligated to go out of his way and warn me, especially considering the others may not have even thought of doing the same.
I was a stranger to him. A woman that Seonghwa spoke of when he was home and nothing more. My mind would drift to what he said about a few of the others. Did some of them not agree with the contract? I guess it made sense that it was hard for them to all date, considering how large ATZ Corp is. Even with eight people running it, it seemed like so much work.
And then I'd think about the 'darker' stuff Mingi claimed they were involved in. I knew it was common, I'd seen my own father indulge in some unlawful intimidation for the sake of his company, but the way Mingi said it... It was like it was so much worse than that.
I managed to fall asleep at around 4am, waking up a little past lunchtime. A car would come to get me at 6pm, that's what Mingi said anyway. I didn't know what type of car, but I assumed it would be expensive.
I lazed around until 4:30 before I started to get ready. I found the dress I wore for expensive Society dinners. A black dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a slit of one leg. I wore it more often than I care to admit, considering it was my most expensive item of clothing. I fished out a pair of heels found my purse and waited.
Was I really doing this? Did I even have to go? What would they do if I didn't? At five to six I took the elevator down to the lobby and waited just inside the doors.
Just like clockwork, a limousine drives up outside and parks out front. The driver gets out and walks to the side facing the building and waits patiently with his hands folded behind him. I take a deep breath.
No going back now.

CHAPTER SIX ▪︎EAT OR BE EATEN (8.3k)
"You think they'll put up a good fight? One satisfying enough?" The woman asks, her silver hair shining in the moonlight. "Last few we found were pretty disappointing."
"Eh, I'm sure they'll be good enough," The man shrugs, glancing at you in the rearview mirror. You quickly shut your eyes fully so he thinks you're still knocked out. "Besides, even if they don't last long at least we won't have to worry about feeding people for a while longer."
"I guess," She sighs. "Kinda wish we got that pretty boy you were talking about."
"This one's alright."
You hear her snort and feel a bit offended for Han; he's way more than 'alright'. Who said that? A blush creeps up your neck at the sudden question of Han's attractiveness, so you push it out of your mind.
The van jerks and comes to a sudden stop, the man clearing his throat roughly as he steps out, and you dare to open an eye. In front of you is a kind of side-of-the-road type diner crawling with people. Although the building is in rough shape, you can almost picture how it must have looked pre-apocalypse with people stopping from all over for a quick bite to eat. Your mouth waters at the thought of all the types of fried foods they likely had, not having realized how long it had been since you ate last, and your stomach growled. Han looks over at you, no longer pretending to be out cold, and you spot where he was hit in the eyebrow. The skin is split from just under his brow bone to just above the short hairs. Without much medical attention, it'll scar noticeably for sure. Dried blood covers most of his eyelid and under his eye, coming to a stop just short of his mouth.
Han is pulled out of the van before you, a pair of hands reaching in and yanking him by the collar. He stumbles, falling into the gravel driveway at someone's feet. While you're distracted, another pair of hands come for you the same way, but you're somehow able to stay upright. Balance is one of your stronger suits, along with your excellent aim that leads to a swift and accurate kick behind you, landing right between the man's legs. You smirk as you hear him grunt, but it drops from your face when you're met with another rough pair of hands pushing you against the van, hot breath on your neck and body covering your own.
"Wanna try that again?" Silence. "Didn't think so."
In your peripheral vision, you can see Han being led to the diner, but he's fighting the woman holding him and keeps trying to look in your direction. The way she's got him makes this difficult, but he keeps trying and you can hear him call out your name with a slight edge to it. You think back to when you first left town, sitting in the back of the truck and watching Han silently panic on the far end. You remember trying to distract him and the way you comforted each other. All you can see from here is his struggle, but you're sure he's experiencing something very similar now.
"Let me calm him down!" You plead, desperate. "Please, I know I can and we'll both be much more compliant after, okay?"
You feel the grip on you loosen, letting you fall to your knees. He signals for the woman to bring him over and she obliges reluctantly, shoving him in front of you. Having your hands bound makes it difficult for you, knowing that if you could just touch him, remind him he's real, it would be so much easier. But you can't, so words will have to do.
"Han?" You try. He's looking at you, but his eyes are unfocused. "Jisung?"
This seems to bring him back, eyes snapping to yours. "Y/n."
"Listen to me." You talk low. "We are going to get out of this. Even if they separate us, I'll find my way back to you. Don't lose hope, okay?"
"Yeah. Yeah, okay." Han takes a deep breath, squaring his shoulders. "We'll be okay."
You're about to say something else when a crackling noise comes from his back pocket- the walkie-talkie. How is it even working this far out?
"Crrk-- Han? You there? Over." It sounds, barely audible.
"What's this?" The man walks away from you and behind Han, reaching into the pocket and bringing out the device.
"Crrk-- Han? It's Seungmin. Did you find Y/n yet? You've been gone for hours, we're starting to get really worried, but you didn't hear that from me. Over --crrk."
"Seungmin?" The man speaks into the device.
"Who is this? And say 'over' when you're done, asshat --crrk."
"Who I am isn't important, but who I've got might be... to you." Even with his back facing you, you can still picture the smirk on his face as he speaks. "Over."
"You can have them." It's a new voice that takes you a moment to place- Hyunjin. Dread pools in your belly. "Crrk-- we don't --crrk-- anyway. Do what you --crrk-- want. Over."
"Sounds like your end is dying, too bad. Not for me, I was gonna destroy this thing anyway. Here's a sign your people are still alive before I cut the line." The man shoves the walkie-talkie in your face. "Talk."
Part of you doesn't want to and the other part straight up can't, voice stuck in your throat. Speaking would prove what he wants, leading the others to you if they're able to find out where you are. With both Seungmin and Jeongin's map skills combined, they'd be here in no time and it'd be all your fault when you watch each of them die one by one at the hands of these people. Why kill others when the infected are already doing it for you? You don't understand. In an act of defiance, which you'll surely later regret, you spit at his feet.
"You don't want to talk? Fine, have it your way. Niko?" The woman yanks your head back by your hair, pressing the tip of a blade to your throat. As he thumbs over the button, 'Niko' digs deeper, running it down from your jaw to your collarbone. She makes it down an inch or so before you cry out in pain. This is what they want, and the knife is taken away.
"Y/n?" It's Hyunjin again. "Y/n! You're okay- you scared the shit out of us and-"
His voice dies out with a crunch, bits of plastic ground up under the man's boot, the little bit of hope you had in the back of your throat dying with it. Not that you want them to find you, not here where the people are more dangerous than the zombies and where your small group would be severely outnumbered and overpowered. There's a tinge of guilt sitting inside you for that small part that did want to be found, wanting to be rescued and taken away from the horrors of this place so far.
With another pull of your hair, the dread is beginning to overflow. Stray hairs fly into your face as you're marched inside the diner. To the left are about five or six trailers parked with people lounging around, seemingly unaware of the apocalypse. They drink and they laugh and someone's barbequing- your stomach growls again at the smell.
"Hungry?" The man asks, but you don't answer, keeping your eyes ahead as you walk inside. "Don't worry, you'll be eating good soon. We feed our guests, need you strong."
Surprisingly gently, you're placed on a stool by the counter of the diner, two stools between you and Han. Glancing over, you catch his eye and don't let go until there's a plate in front of you with meat steaming fresh from the grill, a couple of small, chopped-up vegetable on the side. Your hands are unbound for you to eat, given a plastic fork and knife. Obviously, they don't trust you with anything else, but you're also so used to eating with your fingers that you forgot utensils were a thing in the first place, putting the piece of meat down and picking up the fork. The meat leaves a strange aftertaste in your throat, and your stomach turns as you swallow the last piece. Something isn't right, but you don't even want to ask.
"Put 'em away in the empty trailer. Tonight they can stay together under supervision before we start our fun in the morning." The woman's words worry you, but you don't think about them too long, drowsiness settling in.
God knows how long it's been since you last slept, too preoccupied with taking care of Chan after the hospital. Even when you weren't the one keeping watch, you were too on edge because of everything that happened with Hyunjin, tossing and turning for the hour you were supposed to be resting. The trailer they put you in is on the smaller side, counters bare and only one pull-out couch still folded into itself. Neither the man nor the woman who abducted you were watching over for the night, but another shorter woman with a large gun. She picks at her teeth with a wooden toothpick, leaning against the counter after pulling the couch out. She gestures you to step forward and you do, her hands quickly unbounding yours for the second time. Next, she unties Han and pushes both of you to the couch.
"Sleep." She says.
"But- it's kind of small..." Han's voice turns quiet, the woman glaring at him. "I mean, it's perfect. Um, Y/n? I can sleep on the floor if you want instead."
"No, no, don't." You shake your head. "I will."
"Both of you shut up and sleep on the bed," She snaps. "We need you ready for tomorrow."
"What exactly is happening tomorrow?" You ask, rubbing your wrists. They sting from where the rope sliced into the skin.
"No one told you?" Her eyebrows raise at your blank expressions. "You're going to be fighting in the arena."
"Arena?" Han tilts his head in confusion.
"With zombies. They really didn't tell you?" She scoffs, taking a seat on top of the counter. "Whatever, not my job to say anything, so just go to bed." With a smirk, she adds, "And maybe say a prayer."
Nothing else would have been less comforting to hear.
-
Sleep doesn't come easy, restless turning and maneuvering your body so as to not wake Han, if he was even asleep. His back is turned to you when your eyes settle on him, giving up on sleep entirely. The window above the pull-out couch is covered by blinds, but a piece is chipped and you can see into the starry night sky, fingers coming up to fiddle with your necklace. For the first time that night, Han stirs. Suddenly you're face to face with him, looking at each other with sad eyes.
"Can't sleep?" He whispers, barely audible to avoid being heard by the woman watching over you. You're sure she's stopped paying attention hours ago.
"No," You whisper back, turning fully on your side.
There's a lack of space between you, noses almost touching and breath mingling. Despite the apocalypse, Han still manages to have a tinge of mint in his breath, and you know it's from the mint leaves he collects in a tin. The scent is faded, probably from one he was chewing when he found you, but it brings a little comfort from before.
"C'mere," He stretches an arm out. "You look cold."
And you are, you realize, goosebumps prickling at your skin as you shuffle closer in the dark. His body is warm, enveloping you in a hug and burying your face into his neck. From here, you can hear and feel his heartbeat, the steady rhythm present in your cheek. You sigh, taking in this one normal moment between you two. Neither of you know what will happen in the morning, only that whatever it is, it's not going to be good. Hell, you might not live past the 'event'. As long as you can somehow get Han out of here, you don't think you care.
-
Morning comes quicker than expected, having managed to find sleep in Han's arms. Rough hands drag you from not-so-sweet dreams, tying your hands back up and leading you out toward the diner. Once again, you're separated from Han as he's led off in a different direction around the back of the building. You catch a glimpse when you're shoved through the diner doors, pushed behind the counter, and brought to the kitchen. Right before you enter the kitchen, you take a look through the back windows and spot what must be the arena; a wooden oval built by this group, or so you assume. There are bleachers with spectators already sitting on them, and you spot Han. The man who has him opens a door on one end of the oval, shoving him inside, and you can only hope he'll be okay.
The kitchen tiles are cold, and you're being bound to metal shelving closer to the back. You have no idea what's to come, but the man who brought you here comes into view, grabbing your face and bringing it up to meet his eyes. He says nothing, just moves your head from left to right, making a noise of approval. With a pat to the cheek, he straightens his back and stretches, cracks loud in the otherwise silent room.
"You ever wonder what it's like to turn? To lose control of your body and senses, lose sense of yourself in every meaning?" He kneels to eye level with you. "Because you're about to find out once your little friend is done in there. Unless you want to join us?"
"And why would I do that?" You spit.
"We know how to be immune." He says, voice shallow. Your eyes widen; there's no way to become immune, you know that. "Ah, you don't believe me? Well, you see here, there was a time me and my crew weren't as big, as powerful. We became desperate, and you know what they say." He lifts his hands in air quotations. "'Desperate times call for desperate measures'. It's true, but then we discovered something huge."
"Are you going to tell me what it is, or are you going to sit here and spew bullshit about how amazing you are?" You roll your eyes.
His eyes narrow at your words. "Feisty."
"Whatever." You mumble.
"The trick is to eat or be eaten." He says, standing back to his full height. "It's like building an immunity to an allergy. Eat enough of it, it'll stop affecting you." He starts to walk away, pausing at the swinging door with a look over his shoulder. "Makes you wonder what you've eaten."
About an hour or so later, Han is harshly thrown into your sight line. There's a new rip in the shoulder of his light green t-shirt over his chest, and you catch a glimpse of the shallow wound underneath, no doubt from the zombies the woman mentioned to you. Before you can say anything to him, you're pulled away, everything happening too quickly. Fresh air hits you with a chill, although not from the temperature. Han didn't look too bad, only a little beat up, and he wasn't expected to make it out either, so the challenge must not be so hard? Right?
As you circle to the side of the arena with the door for challengers, you notice other locked doors blending into the wooden sides. You're placed in complete darkness as the door is shut behind you, left to wonder what you'll face on the other side. It takes a few moments, but the door leading to the inside is lifted upward, sun burning your eyes temporarily. Holding a hand up to block the sudden light, you step out and people cheer loudly. You look up to see someone holding the door up from the bleachers by a long rope, noticing matching doors lined up the inner walls of the arena. There's no guessing what lies behind them, obviously the zombies as the grass field is clear of threats. Inside the arena is bigger than it looks from the outside, a wide stretch of patchy grass ahead of you. One door on the far end opens, and your suspicions are confirmed as a zombie comes tumbling out. It spots you instantly, darting toward you with a surprisingly quick pace.
No weapons, no backup- all you have are your fists. With a wide stance, you prepare to take it down, thinking back to fighting Seungmin on the mats. Sweat drips down your back; you were never as good as him in a fistfight. The infected rapidly approaches, but when it swings for you, the movement is sluggish and tired, a low groan emitting from the being.
"That all you got?" You dodge another attack, landing a kick in it's back and knocking it down.
Wrapping an arm around its neck, you pull back and hear it choke. The arms twist behind to grab you, but you step down on each limb, effectively straddling the infected. Too distracted by killing this one, you don't notice another zombie has been released behind you until the whiny moan that erupts from its throat signals its approach. At the last second you can be sure the one you're on is dead, you push yourself forward and somersault, creating room between you and the second one as it swings for you. It lands on top of the other body; this is too easy. Two are released at the same time now, easy enough to take down on your own. The problem is when the last four are brought out.
When you were alone taking down groups of three or four at the house, you had your knives to help you, but here? And, of course, they're the doors closest to you, taking even less time to reach you than the previous ones. The problem- you're getting tired. The rough night of sleep, the lack of food in your belly, the emotional drainage; it's all catching up to you now.
You run to the opposite side of the arena, testing the wood at the base. It doesn't break, ruining your plan to take the jagged piece and stick it through their skulls. Turning around, you're faced with two out of four hungry faces, eager to taste you. Taking the one on the left first, you circle around and let it come to you. It stumbles, limps, drool runs down its face. But you notice it hasn't moved its arms at all, not once since following you- they don't work. You knew paralyzation was possible with the zombie virus, you just had yet to see it in person. When it gets close enough, you grab the arms and use them as support as you kick up to its chest, successfully breaking the weak ribs and hollowing it out with your foot. The zombie falls to the ground; your foot still in its chest, and you take it out with a squelch. Reaching into the gooey blood, you pull a sharpened rib out.
The second and third are closer now, but you're more than prepared to take them on now. You grab another two broken ribs, hoping they're strong enough to pierce skin. The right one lurches forward with sudden force, but you're quicker and use the advantage of its awkward movements to drive one rib into the back of its neck- the crowd boos. The other takes a hold of your arm, but you pull away and out of its grip, leaving you with an angry, red scratch mark. Without much thought, you dig another rib into its eye.
As you're getting ready to kill the last one, a whistle blows over the crowd. You look around confused, wondering why the bleachers are being emptied. Someone comes out onto the field with a metal claw type thing, attempting to wrangle the last remaining infected. They've thoroughly pissed you off, so you decide it's time for a small taste of payback. Before the claw can wrap around the neck of the zombie, you run up and stick the last rib into the side of the throat. When it drops, you spot the guy with the claw's shoulders dropping with a heavy sigh.
-
"Tonight, we are celebrating our first ever champions of the arena!" The man who kidnapped you stands on the counter in the diner, holding up an unlabeled bottle containing a dark liquid. "No one has made it past that little event, but these two sure put up a fight. To- shit, what are your names again?" You open your mouth to answer, but he speaks again. "Ehh, who cares? To them!"
Everyone in the diner cheers, or almost everyone. Niko is in a booth in the corner staring daggers into his back as he steps down with some help from two others. He's walking over to your booth by the front door to hand you both a bottle, each matching his, and a hard hit on the back. Nearly choking on your drink, you put a hand against the table and swallow the bitter taste as he watches, giving him a weak smile and a thumbs up.
"That's homemade," He says, sticking his chest out with pride. "My own recipe, in fact. Listen, tonight you can stay in that same trailer, but we won't watch you. Of course, we have to take precautions and lock you in, but hey! A bit more privacy to do whatever you want!"
With a wink directed at Han, he leaves to sit at the table with Niko. You see her lean back and cross her arms as he approaches, huffing as he starts to talk. Their conversation is drowned out by the chatter happening around you; you're surprised no infected are swarming the place with how loud it is. Han takes a swig of his drink, making a face as he swallows, and you can't help but laugh.
"It's bad-" You say as he puts down the drink.
"It's really bad-" He agrees, sliding the bottle to the edge of the table.
There's a moment of normality between you, the absurd situation you're in running to the furthest corner of your brain as you share a laugh and a bad drink with someone whom you might dare to call a friend. No one bats an eye when you drop your bottle, only having a broom handed over by a gruff man who was previously sitting behind the counter serving people. After cleaning up the shards of broken glass, you decide maybe that's enough excitement for tonight when you stumble walking to the trash can sitting next to a broken jukebox on the wall opposite from you.
A hand comes up to hold you up as your own hits the wall, taking a second before moving away to see Han looking down at you. He's close, closer than you think you've ever been with him, and his hands are warm on your body. There's a small smile creeping onto your face that you can't hide when his arm wraps around your shoulders and guides you out into the chilly air. You didn't realize how cold it was getting recently, crisp air seizing your lungs for a brief moment. The trailers seem to get both closer and further away with each step, sounds of the diner becoming more muffled as you go. Once inside the trailer, you kick your boots off and flop onto the bed stomach first while Han clicks the door shut behind you. Old springs digging into your every body part has never felt so good.
You survived another day! Tomorrow feels light years away as you burrow your head into a limp pillow, sighing happily. Maybe this is what you needed- something to wake you back up from the defeat that's been consuming you, something to sharpen your brain and your instincts like training did. You can picture yourself here now, fighting more pet zombies if they'll let you, belly full with the never-ending supply of food they seem to have, thirst quenched by the homemade alcohol you're sure will kill you if you have too much. Here, you aren't a burden anymore. You're a champion, a warrior, someone to look up to and fear. No more worrying the others and having them think you'll get them all killed.
"I think I could get used to this." You talk into the night, forgetting about the man sitting by the foot of the bed.
Han looks over your weary body, hand hovering over your head as he debates moving the stray hairs away and examining your now near sleeping face. Pulling away, he places his hands in his lap. The scrape on his chest burns slightly, but the buzz of the drinks dulls the pain both physically and mentally.
"They're gonna make us fight again tomorrow," He says quietly.
You sit up, his words instantly sobering you up. "They are? How do you know that?"
"Niko told me after dragging my ass out of the arena. Didn't give any details though." Han takes his place next to you, stretching his sore body. "Don't die."
"You have so little faith in me." You scoff, but lie next to him with a smile on your face.
-
Morning arrives sooner than you would have liked, sunbeams shining through the cracks of the broken blinds above the pull-out couch you lie on next to Han. At some point during the night, your limbs became entangled in each other, one of his legs between yours, your own hugging his tightly. His arm is thrown across your shoulders, holding you against his chest, and your left hand is holding his wrist. You can feel the rise and fall of his breathing against your back, and for a moment it feels like everything is fine. What's the apocalypse when you have someone you trust holding you like he's scared you'll be gone when he opens his eyes?
When did you start trusting Han Jisung?
The moment of serenity is broken by Niko banging on the side of your trailer, entering with no warning, and dragging you both out of bed. You want to laugh at the way Han's hair is sticking up and the way his cheeks are puffed out in annoyance, but you know better than to do that in her presence. There's a chill in the air as you step out and walk toward the diner, goosebumps rising all over your skin. Winter is coming soon, and you hope you'll be somewhere warm when it hits full force.
"You, take him to the back. You know the drill." Niko hands Han off to the shorter woman who watched over you the night before and she nods, shoving Han through the doorway.
Niko leads you around to the arena and you see people are already starting to gather. Excitement is palpable, making you nervous to see what's in store today. Yesterday wasn't like this; there wasn't the same kind of anticipation, but today is something new. You assumed last night that people don't tend to live past the first round, a reason for the celebration, and now they have to be creative when trying to kill you.
The door shuts behind you loudly. You start giving yourself a bit of a pep talk, expecting to be met with a large group of zombies once the gate is lifted, but instead, you see a large wall. Standing up straighter, you notice there's a fork, you can head either left or right. You let a hand trail against the wall as you turn right, met with more twists and turns the deeper you go. You're in some kind of homemade labyrinth. After a few more turns, you stumble into a zombie, right into a zombie. It has you pinned against the ground and you're starting to understand how this round is going to go as you flip over and grip its neck. Something about this zombie is oddly familiar, and then the recognition hits you. He's someone you saw in the audience during the first round.
When you glanced up nearing the end to see people leave, you noticed one pair of people stay put. An older man with a boy younger than you, the boy's eyes wide with fear as he watched you rip the rib bones out of an infected. How many more rounds did these people set up after you and Han? And how many others survived? Considering they only celebrated you and Han, you're guessing the answer is none. Including the boy under you, now lying still as you pant above him. There's something tucked into his waistband glinting in the sun, revealed to you as you stand and his flannel is pushed off his side. A knife.
"Holy fuck!" You squeal, ripping it out of his pants.
It's a basic steak knife, but way better than having nothing, and you've always been better with weapons than with your bare hands, as proven by Seungmin time and time again on the training mats. An aching pang hits you as you reminisce, missing Seungmin more than you thought you did. There's been a whole day since you last saw or heard from him, longer than you've ever gone without him. You imagine he's doing much better than you right now, still having Jeongin and the others to keep him occupied. They must still be at the country house, Chan too wounded to move. Hyunjin's adrenaline has probably worn off by now, weary and in need of medication and care provided by your resident doctors. Or, in Felix's case, resident doctors in training.
Continuing on through the labyrinth, you slaughter more zombies you come across, groups varying in size. Some are alone like the first boy, and others are clustered in duos or trios. After what feels like forever, you collapse at the entrance of what looks to be the middle of the maze. Your mouth is dry, begging for water, and your stomach rumbles as you lean against the wall and wipe sweat from your forehead. It's been hours, you think, hours since they locked you in this maze to be tortured by infected, and by your own mind as well. Thinking of Seungmin unlocked all kinds of feelings you've been trying to shove away. Missing him, missing Minho, feelings of hurt and sadness from what Hyunjn said to you. Regret for not letting Seungmin bring you back and for causing Han to be caught up in all of this with you. You're fighting back tears as you crawl toward a podium in the centre of the circle you've entered.
The podium is simple, solid dark wood splintering along the edges with a key lying on top. You figure you're supposed to take this, tucking it into your pants pocket. Where the key goes, you'll find out. There are four exits out of the circle of grass you stand in, the one you're facing leading back to where you came from. You turn around, assuming this must be the way to go, but are stopped by zombies shuffling out. You're feeling weak, using the podium to keep you up as they come closer and closer. As one reaches you, you fling yourself to the side and let it hit the piece of wood, hard enough you hear a crack, and roll around to see a split in the side where the worse of the splintering is. A jagged piece comes out on an angle, stabbing the infected in the leg. The other four are approaching quickly, and you barely escape one about to pin you to the ground. Using the force of the roll to push up, you slip your knife into your hand and stab the closest one in the neck, blood spilling onto you and soaking the dark material of your t-shirt.
With one zombie seemingly stuck on the podium and another crawling around on the ground disoriented, you're at an advantage now. There are only two actively after you, you can take them down easily, but the ache in your stomach has you hesitant. You're close enough to the exit you want to run, but once you're through, you won't know where to go and they could easily catch up and surprise you. If you take out two now, you only risk the others following you if they can, and whatever else lies in the remaining corridors. Taking up your knife again, you decide killing two now will be more beneficial, even if your body is protesting every step you make. One lashes out, catching you in the arm, but it barely scrapes you and you're able to grab the arm and twist, breaking the bone. The zombie makes a strangled groan kind of noise as you yank it toward you, pulling the same move you did with the first one. This time, you back away before the majority of its blood showers you, the body dropping down to its knees and then to its stomach, a pool of red created in the grass. Chest heaving, you're about to face the other when it grabs your sides, and you only just grasp the back of its head by the hair before its head descends on your neck, muscles in your shoulder aching.
Nails dig into your side and you cry out in pain, feeling a warm, wet sensation wash down your body. Your knife falls out of your hand and you're starting to think this is it, you're going to die in this arena built by sadists, all watching as teeth get closer and closer to your most vulnerable spot. Trying to kick behind you, it only causes its mouth to get closer and soon enough you can feel them on your neck, waiting eagerly to be able to push down and take the perfect bite out of fresh meat.
By a stroke of luck, you manage to land a kick hard enough onto its knee to make it sink down, grip releasing your bleeding side. The hand previously holding the zombie's head flies down, pressing into the wound and limping closer to the exit without looking back. You hope the kick was enough to incapacitate it, not daring to delay another second of getting out of here. Without the steak knife, you feel naked, defenseless. Any infected you run into going forward will have the upper hand now that you're injured too, leaving the occasional bloody handprint on the wall as you wander through the twists and turns specially created for you. You're starting to lose hope of getting out when you see one of your handprints, taking the other corridor left instead of right like you did previously. The wall you hit is a dead end, but you can tell it's the arena wall instead of part of the maze. Using the hand not holding your blood in, you brush your fingers over the painted wood and feel a ridge in the otherwise smooth wall, about the size of a lock.
You bring out the key and match it up to the indent, pushing it in and turning. When you hear a click, you use the key to help open the door out. On the other side is Han, waiting to enter the maze.
-
Han returns hours later when the sun has already set, entering your trailer and leaning against the closed door. You're on the pull-out couch under a rough, worn blanket, trying not to move too much and cause your stitches to rip. After you'd gotten out, you were brought inside the diner to be assessed, Niko making quick work of your injury before sending you off with a paper plate of meat and rice. The paper plate sits abandoned on the counter by the door, only half of the food eaten. You were in too much pain to finish the meal.
Sliding down the door, Han puts his head in his hands, fingertips reaching past his hairline and rubbing his scalp. When his body starts shaking, first his shoulders, then the rest follow, you know he thinks you're already asleep as he lets himself break. You've never seen him so vulnerable, so weary, and it feels wrong to watch him cry and cry and cry. So you close your eyes, allowing the heaviness in your own chest to bring you to sleep.
When you wake, Han is tucked under a different holey blanket on the opposite side of the couch, his back facing you. As much as you want to reach out and comfort him, tell him everything will be okay, you don't want him to know you witnessed him in the flesh last night, and you don't want to lie to him either. You don't know that everything will be okay, you can't tell the future. Staring at his back, you want to reach out and trace a finger down his spine, rub circles into his shoulder blades, anything just to touch him. Maybe you're deprived, maybe you're starting to like him.
Late morning is when they take you back to the arena, but they don't separate you from Han this time. He gives you one last look over his shoulder as they lead him to the other side, and you can't help but wonder what they're going to make you do today. You weren't celebrated again last night, feeling the growing impatience within the group about how you and Han keep winning the challenges they've thrown at you despite the odds. Are they going to make you fight each other? Finally force one of you to die? Or will this be an execution of sorts?
"What's on the menu today?" You try a light tone, giving the man behind you a small smirk.
"You are." And you're hit by something hard, effectively knocking you out.
-
You come to with blurry vision, the side of your head pounding from the force of whatever he hit you with. Blinking, your vision returns slowly and you spot Han on the other side, not too far from where you sit- fuck. You're chained to a metal post, handcuffs rubbing at the skin on your wrists that have only just recovered from your trip to the hospital. Han is in the same situation, but he hasn't regained consciousness yet. There's a drip of blood going down his cheek, nothing too major, but the wound on his eyebrow from his rescue attempt has opened back up. In between you are two zombies, each with collars around their necks connecting to a chain held by someone behind them. At first, you're unsure why they aren't trying to feast on the ones closer to them, why they're so focused on you and Han specifically, then you notice the blood and guts drenching the two people holding the infected back.
Smart, I guess, you think. They can't smell the difference between you and themselves.
The chains loosen ever so slightly, causing the zombie to get closer to you. Upon further examination, you can see a key dangling around its neck; it has to be for the handcuffs you're wearing. The chains around your ankles are looser, and you try to kick them off as the zombie continues to slowly be released. At this point, Han has woken up and seems to be struggling with unbounding his wrists, but you already knew that was a lost cause from how tightly the cuffs are digging into you. After more struggling, you figure out how they've encased your legs, realizing they didn't tie anything down, only wrapping them around several times. You can see the loose ends hanging down if you lift your legs. If only you could just...
"There!" You kick the chains off, the space between you and the zombie smaller than ever. "Han! Go for the-"
"No helping!" One of the guys in the middle bark at you.
Rolling your eyes, you lift your legs and make eye contact with Han. He seems to understand, frantically trying to wriggle his legs free. You're not sure there's enough time for him to get them untied before his zombie gets to him, less space between them than you and your own personal zombie. You wait patiently for it to get closer to execute your plan, the crowd starting to boo, thinking you've given up. You haven't, but they don't need to know that. Once close enough, you twist your legs around it, kicking it as it falls, and sitting up flat against the pole that holds you to avoid its head falling near any body parts. It lands near your feet, exactly where you want it, and you place a foot on either side of its head and- crunch. Break its neck. Using the lower half of your body, you bring it up and lean forward as much as you can. It's difficult, and the pull on your wrists hurts like hell, already feeling the new slices deepening with every centimetre. Sweat runs down your nose in the hot sun, dripping down onto the body between your legs as you use your teeth to bite down on the necklace holding your key, ripping it off with every bit of force you can muster.
Now, the even more difficult part. If you fuck up throwing this behind your shoulder, it's over, for you and Han. Looking up for a brief moment, you can see he's gotten his feet and legs loose, but his zombie is gaining on him, mouth snapping at him as he backs up.
"Come on, Y/n," You mumble, mouth full with the necklace. "Do this right. Don't mess anything else up for once."
A leap of faith, a stroke of luck, a well-directed toss, whatever, the key lands right beside your hands when you sit back, taking only a second to be blinded by pain, forcing yourself to feel for the metal. Once you've grabbed it with bloody fingers, you bend your hand almost unnaturally to unlock yourself. A rush tingles your hands and fingers, curling them in and out to regain any lost feeling before standing on shaky legs. Han is holding his zombie back with his legs on its chest, kicking outward, and it slips on the grass. As you jog over, he starts kicking its head as it continues to crawl toward him.
"Oh no you don't!" You shout, giving a swift kick to the head of the zombie, and it rolls onto its back.
Someone is yelling, but you're too focused on Han to notice. He's breathing heavily, obviously tired from holding his legs up for so long. You manage to get the key into the lock before you're yanked back by the neck of your t-shirt, Han doing the rest and pushing whoever grabbed you away in seconds. This earns him a punch to the jaw and he falls, hand holding his face. You turn around to see one of the guys covered in guts, and he looks angry.
"What was the one thing I said, bitch?" He grabs you by the neck, but not too tightly and you grin.
"I don't know, bitch, couldn't really hear over the zombie trying to eat me." You say, not thinking.
Oh, you've done it now. His grip on your neck gets tighter, constricting your breathing to nearly nothing, but lets go as his eyes focus on something behind you.
"No hurting the contestants unless I say so." The man, who you still don't know the name of, places a hand on his shoulder. "That is... unless you want a spot in the show?"
"N-no, sir," He stutters, shaking his head.
You rub your neck with one hand, kneeling next to Han who's still half on the ground. Reaching up, you pull his hand away and check his jaw. There's a bruise forming already as you gently thumb over the mark, making eye contact with him as you do. Your breathing hitches, thumb stopping and heart racing.
"Little lady." A hand comes to grab you under the arm, bringing you back to a standing position. You're getting real sick of that nickname. "Come with me." He leads you to the end with the exit, face close to your ear. "You heard the man, you weren't supposed to help your boy. Do you know what we do to rule breakers here?"
"No," You whisper, unsure if you want to hear the answer.
"First, we make sure you understand what you did wrong," He chuckles, and a feeling of unease settles in your stomach. "Then, you get to meet our undead friends." He pushes you through the doors of the diner, bringing you to a small room you haven't seen with a barren desk and broken chair. "Last is the best part." He lets go of you harshly, sending you into the desk with a cough. "Then, we eat you. Now, allow me to start the process."
Before you can register, he's landing a hard kick with the heel of his boot straight into your nose, effectively breaking it and causing your head to hit back against the wood you're sitting against. Immediately, your vision blurs, and the taste of copper fills your mouth, and the scent, your nose. He picks you up by the throat, slamming you face down against the top of the desk and you feel the bottom of your shirt lift. A cold, metal blade traces what's exposed of your spine, as if choosing the perfect spot to stab you. It trails to the side and digs in slowly, agonizingly, but you're thankful he chose somewhere non-lethal. You're not at the stage of getting killed yet, only tortured. Not that that's good either, but hey, you still have a chance of getting out of this. The blade is all the way in now, and he pulls it out just as slowly. Once it's out, you take the opportunity to flip over and push away from the desk, forehead making contact with his own.
With a groan, he stumbles back and rubs his forehead. "You little shit. I'm gonna-"
He cuts himself off, head snapping toward the door behind him and the noise behind it. There's shouting, gunfire, you name it. He makes his way to the door, pausing and walking back to you before stepping out.
"We're not done here." He shoves you onto the ground again, landing a swift kick to your ribs and you feel something crack. "Got it?"
When you don't answer, he kicks you again, this time under the chin. "I asked you a question."
"G...got it." You cough out.
He scoffs, giving you a dirty look as he leaves the room. Everything is fading for you, the sounds of chaos, the taste of your own blood in your mouth. A trembling hand comes up to touch the charm on your necklace lying under your shirt, eyes fluttering shut. You know you shouldn't give in to the feeling of oncoming sleep, but it would be so very peaceful.
A door opens in the distance hard enough to hit the wall. Next thing you feel are hands on your body, on your face. Hands that shake you awake and bring you into someone's lap. Someone who wipes the blood from your face despite the fact it won't stop anytime soon, someone who picks you up bridal style and whispers; I've got you.
All is going well until Han is tackled outside the diner, and you roll away from the two fighting bodies. Your eyes are open slightly, watching Han get punched by the same man who was going to kill you, but he's stronger than you were in the moment and flips their positions. Han still has no weapon, so you watch as he uses his fists to repeatedly hit the man until he's no longer moving. Even then, he doesn't stop, and that's when you notice the tears streaming down his face. Arms reach out and pull Han away, holding him close as his hands are held in front of him, blood running down from the knuckle, a mixture of his own and from the body he's straddling. A flash of blond hair and you can tell it's Felix holding him, comforting him in the midst of fighting around you. It's hard to make out who everyone is, but you vaguely see Seungmin using his new baseball bat to beat anyone who comes near you three, and Chaeryeong must be shooting from somewhere behind you because bodies are dropping like it's nobody's business. They all found you. They all came to rescue you.
One hand touches your cheek, turning you to face the owner and you lock eyes with Hyunjin. You can't speak, but you give him a weak smile. The moment doesn't last long as Hyunjin is gently pushed away and you're being carried again. This time, you can look up at Han and admire the determination on his face as he lies you down in the backseat of the pickup truck, closing the door and circling around to sit on the other side with your head in his lap. You can kind of feel the car start, but mostly, you're focused on Han's warm fingers brushing through the loose parts of your hair.
You might die in this truck, but at least you'll die in the lap of someone you care for, and who cares for you. You won't die alone like you thought you would in that room, at the hands of that vicious man. You're bleeding out onto the seat, but you can't find it in you to care anymore. You just want it all to be over.

The look in Percy’s eyes is intense, filled with warmth and desire that makes Alex’s chest feel tight. There’s a spark in those depths, a fire that mirrors the heat pooling low in Alex’s belly. It’s almost too much to bear, the heady mixture of longing and affection swirling around them. Percy’s hand moves with purpose, the rhythm he establishes building in a way that scatters Alex’s thoughts, sending him spiraling into a haze of sensation. All Alex can do is let himself be swept away, completely at the mercy of Percy’s touch. The world outside fades into the background, and all that matters is this moment, this connection, and the way Percy’s hands explore him with both care and an unmistakable hunger. He trusts Percy to lead them both wherever they’re meant to go, the intoxicating thrill of surrendering to pleasure intertwining with the deep-seated yearning that has brought them to this point. Percy takes his time, the anticipation hanging heavy in the air as he kneels between Alex's legs, an air of confidence about him that sends shivers down Alex's spine. He slides a condom onto Alex's cock, the sound of the foil crinkling punctuating the charged silence. Alex watches, heart racing, as Percy lowers himself, his eyes locked onto Alex's with a playful glint that promises so much more. As Percy’s lips wrap around Alex, the initial sensation is slow and sensual, a tantalizing tease that sends waves of pleasure coursing through him. The warmth of Percy’s mouth envelops him, drawing him deeper into an abyss of sensation. Alex gasps, his body instinctively arching toward him, hips bucking as he seeks more of that sweet mouth around him. Each slow movement feels deliberate, a careful exploration that sends sparks radiating from his core.

Invisible String Theory(Anon!Slytherin boy x Reader)
Chapter 5
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n; uhm wtf i wrote this in like a really short amount of time? Uhm maybe im just suddenly inspired idkkkk???? Not my best work but look daddy made you some content🕺
c/n; as usual, everyone is aged up, university au, stalker behavior, gaslighting, it gets kinda freaky but no smut yet, reader is kinda having a crisis
゚+*:ꔫ:*﹤
A week has gone by and that asshole hasn’t spoken to me. Hasn’t once asked if I was okay, hasn’t once checked on me. Won’t linger in a room with me for longer than a minute. His cold eyes meet mine, only to flicker away in what I can only hope is shame.
Maybe I'm being sensitive, maybe he doesn’t owe me shit, but years of friendship and not even a quick “r u ok” text is ridiculous.
A warm arm wraps comfortingly around my back, and I look up and find soft, onyx eyes smiling fondly at me. Mattheo gives me a toothy grin, his warm hand splayed against my shoulder comfortingly. Sometimes, when I feel the familiar iron hot gaze on the back of my neck, I wonder if Mattheo does it on purpose. Rubbing it in Theo’s face that he isn’t man enough to check up on me. That his ego is too high to touch me like he used to.
You okay?
His soft question pulls me out of my thoughts, and I blink away the bitter thoughts, “Sorry. What did you say?”
“I asked if you were okay,” Mattheo frowned, dropping to my level slightly, “Do you need to go sit down–”
“I’m not fragile Mattheo, I’m fine,” I retorted, but it comes out much sharper than I mean it to. I watch as his gaze hardens, annoyance sweeping across his expression, clouding his once warm eyes. He takes a deep breath and seemingly swallows a comment, and he shakes his head.
“I didn’t say you were fragile, I was just making sure my friend was alright,” He speaks, voice uncharacteristically level in tone, and it extinguishes the fire burning beneath my skin. I sigh in admission, shaking my head.
“I’m sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I’m just… annoyed,” I admit, shaking my head. My gaze flickers across the table again, watching Theo converse with a girl, a bored expression evident enough on his face to be noticed from across the way.
“With Nott?”
I nod, guilt tasting bitter on my tongue suddenly, “Yeah, and I’m starting to think I’m being an asshole.”
Mattheo shakes his head, leaning on his propped hand on the table, “I don’t think so, he can’t just pretend nothing happened to you,” he insists, his eyes burning hot into mine, and to escape the intensity, my eyes trace the scars gracing his skin.
“C’mon, let’s go for a walk,” Mattheo stands suddenly, and my brows knit in confusion.
“What? It’s cold and rainy out there–”
“Yeah, perfect walk weather,” He cuts me off, taking my hand and dragging me out of my seat. His pace is quick, insistent, and I can’t help but laugh at the absurd situation, and my chest tightens when he throws me a grin over his shoulder.

A shrill scream rips from my lips as Mattheo stomps around in a puddle, splashing water on my jeans, not to mention dousing himself. He wildly stomps closer to me, and more water splashes up towards me. Another shriek wracks my body, and I run away from the assault of questionable water.
Mattheo rolls his eyes, slowing down his stomping, “Oh stop being a killjoy, you can just magic it away,” He huffs, retrieving his wand from his back pocket, a flick of it sending a comforting wave of warmth over my body, drying me completely.
“Doesn’t change that it’s dirty water,” I argue, fixing my hair back into place, and he groans loudly enough to startle nearby birds, “You’re so dramatic, Riddle!”
Mattheo can’t hide his amused grin, despite his drenched hair that made him look like a wet cat.
It made me smile right back at him.
゚+*:ꔫ:*﹤
Thunder rattles the window as I pace back and forth in my room, trying not to crash out. Theodore sat on my bed, shoes discarded by the door, legs crossed while he relaxed like nothing was wrong. He languidly reached beside the bed, presenting a small heart-shaped box, “These were on your bed when I came in,” He drawled, yawning to punctuate his sentence.
I snatched the box from his hands, immediately discarding it via the garbage can. Theodore raised a brow in interest when I stormed into the bathroom, turning the hot faucet on and scrubbing my hands furiously.
“Not even going to humor him?”
My eyes rolled dangerously far into my head at the annoyingly smooth tone of his voice, and I reappeared into the room. Could be poisoned with a love potion, you should probably wash your hands,” I mumble, sitting at my desk, my back facing Theodore.
He scoffs, and doesn’t bother humoring my anxieties as he relaxes back into bed, “Are you still ignoring me?”
My eye twitches involuntarily, and I force a humorless laugh, “I’m the one ignoring you?” I ask, swirling around in the chair with disbelief, “I could have died–”
“You had a panic attack,” His eyes rolled, “Stop being so dramatic.”
Oh.
Oh.
That little prick–
゚+*:ꔫ:*﹤
The pad of his thumb presses down on my tongue, and I whine out around the painful restraint. He scoffs at me, only gripping my chin tighter beneath his fingers, drool seeping past my kiss-bruised lips. His cold, dead eyes bore into mine, brimming with tears.
“Are you done with the attitude?” Theodore asked, and anger bubbled up once again in my chest. Feeling the shift in my demeanor, Theodore shifted his grip to my cheeks, holding me firmly in place. “Spiteful little thing, aren’t you? I can work with that…”
His cold hands graze against my waist, slipping beneath the hem of my top, eliciting a sharp gasp from my lips. “Bella… Just stop being so difficult, talk to me…”
His words twist and turn in my mind, still reeling from how our screaming fit had turned into me against the wall. If I’m being honest, I can’t even justify the argument anymore, or remember what it was over for that matter, or much of anything besides the taste of tobacco on his lips
The sharp sound of the door beside us is the only thing stopping Theo from moving his hand further, and the familiar call of my name makes me push him away. I adjust my clothes, praying the red marks on my cheeks from his iron grip aren’t too obvious.
I don’t miss the smirk on Theodore’s face as he nonchalantly leaned against the wall he had just pinned me to. Shaking it off, I open the door with a forced smile. Mattheo gives me a once over before his gaze flickers inside and they narrow in on the far-too-smug Theodore against the wall.
“You uh…” Mattheo cleared his throat, looking back at me, “You left your jacket in my dorm earlier,”
Our heads snap to the sudden choking sound behind me, and Theodore grasps the nearby desk to steady himself. He muffles his coughing, disappearing into the bathroom.
“So… You’re talking to Nott again.”
I shift awkwardly, chewing on the inside of my sore cheek. “Ehm… Yeah. We talked it out,” I admitted, feeling Mattheo’s gaze on my lips.
“Yeah. Talked it out,” He repeated with bitterness, looking up into my eyes with something I couldn’t quite name in the moment. His gaze flickered behind me again, catching the glint of the stark red heart-shaped box in the trash. He sighed, shaking his head slightly, making me knit my brows in confusion.
“I'll see you later,” Mattheo nodded suddenly, stuffing his hands in his pockets before he turned away. “Bye,” He called softly over his shoulder, absconding down the hallway.
Well shit.

Ep 29 loose thoughts
Oof, Li Lun's really on his last legs, eh? I do feel sorry for him, but I feel even worse for Bai Jiu - locked up inside his own body, poisoned, forced to ingest human livers, coughing up blood and dying. Can this kid get a break, please.
It's funny to me how ZYC might have figured out ZYZ's ruse because of his top-tier observation skills... or it might have been because he pays *that* much attention to the demon. I guess we'll never know 😅
It's heartbreaking in a way how well ZYZ knows LL, still, after all, and trusts him not to hurt Ying Lei, trusts LL to honor an emotional debt. Also, interesting how even while pointing a sword to ZYZ's throat, ZYC trusts him not to go to certain lengths for his goals... I keep saying this, but- the bonds in this drama! 😭
Is this really the time to walk away without saying anything, ZYZ? (I know, I know. It's so that they can break our hearts more thoroughly real soon.)
Oh okay. So even Wen Xiao doesn't know what exactly is wrong with her - don't you think that's kind of vital info you should've shared, Bai Yan daren? Ngl, I guffawed when ZYZ said, "I searched Wen Xiao's body etc," not sure if it's the translation that's lacking or what, but I'm pretty sure we all had the same thought about how thorough that search was 😝 On a more serious note though, is poison always the most powerful weapon of destruction in cdramas? Like ZYZ has the power to heal stab wounds and vein cuts that would otherwise be lethal, but he can't do shit about poison?
Thanks for explaining why she wasn't there when the gang came back with the scale, I thought it was so weird for Bai Yan to just leave like that when she was supposedly the one to tell them how it works. (Still not sure why it had to be her and not Ying Long or even the princess Longyu herself, but oh well.)
Yes, that's why ZYZ stole the scale. The never ending variations on the trolley problem in this drama (I think I saw someone mention it re the Bingyi cave and then it happened again in ep 28, and now it's happening again)!
"It's hard." And? That doesn't mean it's impossible, right? Bai Yan, *please* speak plainly and in full sentences, because instead of raising tension you're raising my blood pressure.
Ah, of course she would withhold that info if it meant saving her son. ZYC, going straight for jugular lol (gotta love the man, for him restoring the sword means not only getting Bai Jiu back but also saving his own life, and he still would choose not to go through with it if it meant losing ZYZ or, as he just found out, WX.) As a mother, she might have thought of letting her son know who she was when she still had a chance; she might have thought of a contigency plan in case something happened to her. They might have not been in this particular mess now, had *someone* made sure the kid didn't have to resort to making wild guesses, ultimately leading him to be lied to and exploited.
Wow, yeah, okay. I officially dislike both of Bai Jiu's parents now. Also, Bai Yan's words once again reinforce the difference between humans and demons/gods and how they think about time and bonds. ZYC might be a demon now, so technically his lifespan is way longer than human's, and still he might not live long enough to see the next incarnation of the Baize goddess; and even if he could, at this point his concern is the *current* incarnation, thank you very much, whereas BY's looking at the situation from a much wider perspective. Because of course both worlds will be involved. And I'm still with ZYC on this. (Unrelated, but I love Bai Yan's voice. It's not often we get to hear that low of a voice from a woman, and especially not in cdramas, as far as I can tell.)
Oh, fuck off. The fatalism rubs me the wrong way always, and coming from such a supposedly powerful being it's even more grating. (Not for the first time while watching this drama I get a flashback to reading Clamp's "X-1999," the set-up and tone is eerily similar.)
Well I guess I got my wish. Li Lun, you sad little demon possessing a dying child's body, I feel for you and your longing. The white petals around them (white, for death and mourning), oh my heart. The fact that they kept switching the actors throughout his reflections made it even more painful. And then he goes and (indirectly) quotes ZYC, the bit about the lamp kept on for travellers... while Ying Lei can only listen and cry. Oof. Can't help but notice that he still focuses mostly on his own suffering, though... I guess it's fair, for all intents and purposes he still has a mentality of a hurt teenager.
The whiplash I got when he switched to, "if I die, I have to find someone to die with," ouch 🤣 Once a drama queen, always a drama queen, right, LL? Gotta find yourself the grandest stage for your final exit... am I ready to see that? (I adore his character song, btw, even though when I first heard it, it gave me a completely different image of what his character's going to be. Hmm.)
Again, fuck right off, Bai Yan. I kinda wish they showed us more of WX in that scene, but hey, I'll take ZYC's memories, too (probably the first time with a time stamp!). "You must live well." It's like a refrain at this point that they seem to cling to, the worse the circumstances get. And the care between them, I'll never be over the bonds we're being shown in this drama.
I relate to WX so much. Like I get the idea that some things are worth dying for and no one in the gang would hesitate to put their lives on the line. And still, WX wants to live. Staying alive is just as, if not more, difficult as dying. Staying alive while others leave is difficult. Only when you stay alive can you really change the narrative. (Also, can we please *stop* sitting on that goddamn bridge. Why are you even there when ZYC was clearly shown back at the Mount Kunlun? Come to think of it, I just realized that they seem to have completely forgotten about Ying Lei??? And where did PSJ go?)
"How is wanting to live not the right choice?" Funny, coming from you of all people, ZYZ. Will you make the right choice for yourself, then? Thank you, WX. Make him sit on that for a bit... Ngl, I cheered when she tore up that goddamned contract. I don't care if they get to kiss now or no, but I care that he won't have to experience a mild heart attack every time he focuses on his affection towards her. (Because I've never seen him look at her as you would a colleague, so technically his heart should've been acting up nonstop, unless the emphasis was on conscious intent on his part. I'd have to rewatch that ep to see if they actually mention the exact wording.)
Awww look at her boys going "I'll find a way" at the same time! I just hope I'm not gonna cry when their way turns out to be yet another self-sacrificial mission. Interesting, there's a bottle of wine and two cups sitting by ZYC, even though he seems to have been sitting there by himself for quite a while... is it going to be one of those tiny details that become relevant later? (I love how this drama makes me pay attention!)
Oh dear gods, I really hope this isn't what I think it is. ZYC!!!
GODDAMNIT IT IS, HE WENT TO SEE WZY BY HIMSELF, FUCKKKKKK
At this point in the story my sincere wish is that, if nothing else, we *will* get to see WZY dying a slow and horrible death. If *he* survives, I'm throwing this whole drama in the garbage. (Also, somehow I'm not in the slightest concerned about what ZYC's choice might be. I trust him this much.)
Lol the moment Bai Yan mentioned that the fire of the mortal world is not enough to forge ZYC's sword I totally went, "it has to be taken to the Mount Dooooooom!" 🤣
Huh, okay, I didn't expect the ever-burning wood to be necessary for this. That's how we know that we're close to the final boss battle, folks, the quests are getting more and more complex.
"Take it"??? Wait, is it that easy? Oh no, of course not. How did it *not* burn him up after all this time though, was it just chilling in his body without actually doing anything? Other than accidentally hurting LL with it, I don't think we've ever seen ZYZ use it in any way, either 🤔 Okay, so he needs the creation stone as well, okay-
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲
That's the live reaction of yours truly at *that* visual of golden light blasting from ZYC's sword as he grasps it. Holyyyyyy shit, Guo Jingming, Silmarillion adaptation when????
Oh gods, their hands on that stone. Like in ZYZ's vision. I'm scared again. The image of ZYC morphing into LL and then back again!!! If you want ZYC to promise that he'd protect the Wilderness with you, then *you* better promise not to die, ZYZ! Also, could they be any more queer coded at this point? (Aww, WX, I want to give her a hug so badly. Where the hell is PSJ when you need her???)
I take that back, they can and currently are even more queer coded. ZYZ's face when ZYC prepares his drink for him with yet another jade pendant!!! This whole scene, starting with one of my favorite songs from the OST playing in the background, the soft focus, warm lights, close-ups of their faces, the way they gaze at each other... so beautiful. Of course there had to be some theatrics (ZYZ) and fond exasperation (ZYC) involved, too, that's just how they roll, and I'm eating it alllll up.
Did they *have* to go and draw the parallel to last drink and meal though? 😭 also, also, ZYC doing his best to emphasise that their "blood feud" is in the past! In how many ways does he have to tell you that he wants you to live before you get it, ZYZ?
I also remembered their conversation in ep 15, when ZYC asked how ZYZ could live with contradictions, and boy, is ZYC a walking paradox himself. His feelings seem so tangled and complex, but at the same time he's so clear eyed about them, and able to express them, even while saying that they're ineffable. And ZYZ's response! His face! ::head in hands::
The toasts broke me a bit. The way ZYZ hesitated for the longest time before downing his cup for the first toast. The goddamn *poetry* in ZYC's words, the goddamn eye contact throughout, the goddamn tension, HMH's goddamn face!  So good! 😭
!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay you know what? I think I'm getting better at this. There *was* the slight pause before the camera cut to WX and then back to our soulmates (they said it more than once now, I feel justified in using the word for them 😁), I'm gonna wait and see first!
Aw but they're both just so stunning with their hair flying around them lke that. I could watch them forever.
Loved the slow-mo before ZYZ collapsed. Poor WX! That quick shot of her wiping the blood off of ZYZ's chin was so satisfying somehow...
Ahhh I was right, they were in agreement and trying something dangerous together, not against each other! Yay for removing that godawful thing from his inner core, but now what? Are they gonna give it to WZY in exchange for the antidote? Do they actually believe that after all he's done he will play nice??? I love WX, scolding them both like a pair of unruly children 😂
Okay this is getting a little too convenient that they can get eavesdropped on so easily. And not to repeat myself, but where the hell are Ying Lei and PSJ?
I certainly didn't expect to get my wish so quickly lol I guess now we're really down to business when it comes to death countdowns... What did I just say? There is no goddamn antidote! What the fuck did WZY use to create that poison in the first place? The only solution is for someone to use their demonic power to absorb the poison into their own body??? Don't tell me that that's how ZYZ is gonna cure WX. And then ZYC will kill him so that he doesn't suffer. Looking at ZYC, he's about ready to sacrifice himself, though... ::incoherent pterodactyl screeching::
I keep repeating myself, but how is this kid 12. And finally the missing members of the squad reappear! (Just to get the front row, of course.) Oh, oh no. Even though I kinda knew that Ao Yin was going to do this... (I wonder if the poison worked way faster on her because she's a lesser demon?) I can't believe they made me cry over the human livers dealer!
I feel like I said it after every episode so far, but what an episode. I also find it more and more difficult to watch without being tempted to read other folks' commentary first, since I'm so anxious about what's going to happen next; so on one hand, I'd want to be prepared for the worst (so I should spoil myself), on the other though, I want to see what happens with my own eyes first... ah, decisions, decisions.

Doing It All For Us (Pt. 11)
Masterlist
Rafe Cameron x Reader
Summary: Rafe and Y/n find out more about their baby while trying to distance themselves from the crime.
Warnings: Language
Word Count: 4k+
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It'd been a few weeks since the cops chased John B and Sarah out into the storm. They were presumed dead.
People were talking. The rumor that it had actually been Rafe that had killed Peterkin was circling around the island but there was no evidence to prove it. And going after the Cameron's, especially after they'd just lost their daughter, was not a good look.
Even more so, you were showing now. Elliot Y/L/N's daughter was bearing Rafe Cameron's child. Needless to say, you and Rafe had protection.
However, that didn't stop the sideways stares you received attending Sheriff Peterkin's funeral. Or the way Topper and Kelce had slowly distanced themselves from the two of you.
"Did he do it?" Courtney had asked you as you sat across from her in her bed.
You answered with your eyes. You couldn't lie to her. But you couldn't say it out loud.
She nodded. The lack of words exchanged kept her safe. Kept Rafe safe. But she knew. She'd never say a word though. She loved you. She loved Rafe. And she loved the baby that would need both of it's parents.
-
You gripped Rafe's hand tightly as the doctor scanned your ultrasound.
"5 months! Good weight, looking healthy as can be." The doctor says. "Would you like to know the sex?"
You smile widely at his words. You could see Rafe shaking with anticipation. "Yes, please!"
"Well, Miss Y/L/N. People will owe you a lot of money. It's a boy."
You squeal with excitement and you watch as Rafe tries to contain himself, wanting nothing more than to jump around the room and cheer.
You knew from the beginning. You always knew. Call it mother's intuition. Mother. The term felt so real now.
Rafe kneels down beside you, placing kisses all over your swollen belly. You giggle at the sensation.
"I'll give you two a minute." The doctor smiles. "When you're ready, just head to the front desk and schedule your next appointment."
Rafe looked up at you, tears streaming down his cheeks. You laugh but couldn't help the tears spilling from your eyes as well.
"I can't believe this is real." He whispers against your skin. "You still want to name him after me?"
"Of course I do! Wolf's been his name since the beginning. It's who he is. I can tell. I'm his mom." You tease, getting used to referring to yourself as that.
Rafe presses a deep kiss to your lips before trailing the rest of your face with kisses. He'd never been so happy in his life.
-
Rafe gushed about your future the whole ride back to Tannyhill. About the house he was going to buy you, about colors for the nursery, about all the sports he was going to teach Wolf.
You smiled the whole way, admiring the smile on his face at the thought of his son.
When you pulled into the driveway Rafe quickly hopped out to come retrieve you. You chuckled as he pulled you inside, clutching the ultrasound pictures tightly.
"Dad! Rose! Wheeze!" He yelled.
"What's going on?" Wheezie asked, poking her head out of the living room.
"Where's dad and Rose?"
"We're right here," Rose said as her and Ward enter the foyer. "Is everything okay?"
Rafe excitedly passed out the pictures, smile wide on his face. "It's a boy!"
"Oh my God!" Wheezie squealed.
Rafe pulled you to his chest and squeezed you tightly. You were at pure bliss with how happy he was. You hadn't seen him like this in so long.
Ward was still grieving the loss of Sarah but you caught the genuine smile break across his face as he stared at the picture of his soon to be grandson. "Shit," He mumbled, running his fingers over the scruff coating his face. Rafe looked at his father hopefully. "This is-wow. Congratulations, son."
Rafe smiled. "Thanks, dad."
"You guys are gonna be great parents." Rose cooed, pulling you into a hug.
"Do you have any names for him?" Wheezie asked hopefully.
"We do, actually." You say, earning Ward's attention away from the photo in his hands.
Rafe smiles even bigger, you swear he was going to bruise his cheeks with how much he was smiling.
"Rafe-" You begin. "Rafe means Counsel of the Wolves. So we're naming him Wolf. Wolf Cameron."
"What? That's so cool!" Wheezie says. "Holy shit, I'm gonna be an aunt!"
"Language, Wheeze!" Rose scolds.
"Your, uh...your mother named you. I didn't know that was the meaning." Ward said softly, almost disappointed in himself for not knowing that.
"Thought he should have a strong name," You start, wrapping your arms around Rafe's waist and looking up at him. "Like his daddy."
Rafe was an absolute mess of pure bliss.
"Okay, uh..." Rafe says, running his fingers through his hair manically. "I have to take you out tonight. Wherever you want. Whatever you and Wolf are hungry for."
"Oh, let us cook!" Wheezie says. "Please?!"
You glance at her and Rose. They both seemed eager to make a special dinner for the two of you.
Rafe looks at you, eager to know what you want to do. You were beginning to feel overwhelmed.
"Uhm, yeah Wheeze! That sounds good! Italian?" You offer.
"On it!" Wheezie says, running to the kitchen.
"You two go rest." Rose smiles. "Rafe, breathe."
You notice the way Wheezie and Rose pin your ultrasound photos to the fridge. You also notice the way Ward stuffs his in his pocket.
"Uh, Y/N. I have something for you." Ward says as he walks back to his office. You and Rafe follow slowly. Ward picks an envelope off his desk and hands it to you. "From your father."
Your breath hitches. You'd written your dad a while ago to tell him the news but you hadn't heard back. You were at the Cameron's so often you had just sent the letter from there. "Thanks," You say, taking the letter from him warily. You had no idea what your father's reaction would be and you knew Ward would be eager to know.
You and Rafe head up to his room. You still had a few more photos from the ultrasound and you watched as Rafe propped one up on his nightstand, smiling down at it. It made your heart flutter.
You sat on the bed and sighed, staring at the letter. Rafe sat behind you, pulling you into him. The feeling of his arms around you calmed your nerves.
You ran your nail under the envelope to open it. You took a deep breath as you unfolded the letter.
Y/N,
Wow. It's so good to hear from you. Although, that was not the news I was expecting to get. Pregnant. I'll be honest, I went through a range of emotions at first. One of them being the urge to strangle Rafe. But I talked to some of the people here. They are really great. They helped me realize that you are an adult. You won't always be my little girl.
You are so much like your mother, and because of that, I know that you will be a great mother. And I know Rafe will be a great father. I trust he is taking good care of you. I trust that all the Cameron's are. I pray you're staying clean. For yourself and your new little family. I know you can do it. You're strong. You just have to put your strength to use in the right places.
I hate to do it, but I will be staying for a few more months. I miss you and I wish so badly I was there with you, but this experience has really opened my eyes and I just don't feel like I am ready to leave yet. But when I come back I will be a better father and grandfather. I can't tell you how excited I am to meet him or her.
Take care of yourself. I love you. Talk soon.
Dad
You stared at the letter with a lack of emotions. You knew they were there somewhere but you just couldn't bring yourself to feel them. You'd built up a wall. Of course he was staying longer. You weren't surprised. I mean, good for him right? It's what he needs. At least he is happy for you and not grabbing the first flight home to murder Rafe.
You fold the letter up and set it to the side. "You okay?" Rafe asks.
"Mhmm," You say. "I'm really sleepy. Can we nap?"
"Of course, my love."
Rafe gets up and shuts the blinds in his room before crawling back into bed beside you. He wraps his arm around you and tucks his hand under your shirt, trailing his fingers over your belly.
"Shit!" You hiss and grab your stomach.
"What? Are you okay? What happened?!" Rafe asks.
You chuckle. "Nothing, babe, I'm fine. He's just kicking." You reassure him. "Here, feel." You guide Rafe's hand to the spot where a tiny foot was thumping against your inner belly.
"Holy shit," Rafe smiles. "That's our son." His voice was so soft, so absolutely entranced by the movements inside you.
You smile, enjoying the little jolts inside your stomach as Rafe caressed you skin.
-
You woke up around 7pm to Rafe bringing you a plate of chicken alfredo.
"Oh shit," You mutter, sitting up and rubbing your eyes. "I forgot Wheezie and Rose were cooking for us."
"It's okay, baby. I told them you were really tired. We can just eat in here and watch a movie."
You smile, taking the plate from him. You were grateful for their efforts but you don't think you'd be able to make it downstairs without falling asleep.
You lazily ate your food as Jurassic Park played on the tv. You were starving but you could barely keep your eyes open. You managed to finish your food and set your plate on the night stand before pulling yourself out of bed and stumbling to the bathroom.
You peed and chugged a glass of water before stumbling back and collapsing in bed.
"Back to bed, my angel? Did you eat enough?"
"Mhmm," You groan. "Shhh, I go sleep now."
Rafe giggled and placed a kiss on your head, instantly shipping you off to dreamland once again. Pregnancy made you tired.
-
"Rafe,"
Rafe snaps awake to find Ward standing in the dark of his room.
"What? What is it?" He asked sleepily, looking over at you to make sure you were still asleep.
"I need your help." Ward said.
Rafe slowly climbed out of bed, careful not to wake you, and followed his dad outside.
"I need you to keep quiet and stay calm okay?" Ward said.
"Yeah, okay." Rafe responded nervously.
Ward pulled back the cover on the truck to reveal a large bag.
"W-what is that?"
"It's a body, son."
"Oh my God." Rafe says, losing control of his breathing. "Oh my God, it's a body? Whose body is it?"
"It doesn't matter."
"What do you mean it doesn't matter? My girlfriend is upstairs! Whose body is it, dad?!
"It's Gavin!" Ward hisses, slapping his hand over Rafe's mouth.
Rafe pulls back. "Gavin? The pilot? W-why? What'd he do?"
"He was trying to blackmail us. He had the gun that you used to kill Peterkin. I told him to throw it over the ocean on the way to the Bahamas but he didn't. He kept it." Ward explained.
Rafe's eyes were wide with anxiety.
"He was going to turn you in, Rafe. I couldn't let that happen. Not when-" Ward sighs. "Not with Wolf on the way..."
Rafe eyed his father for a moment before glancing back to the body. "He said you were a psychopath, Rafe, and that he wasn't going to jail for you. Now can you please help me carry him to the boat."
Rafe took a deep breath, absorbing all the information. Gavin was a threat. Ward took care of him. Just like Rafe took care of Peterkin. A dead witness meant a safe place for him and his family.
"I got the head." He says.
-
You woke up to an empty space beside you. You frowned, hoping Rafe was just downstairs.
You reached for your phone and scrolled through your messages.
Rafe: Gotta take care of some business. I'll be back later. I love you more than life.
You sighed. You knew it wasn't work related business.
You open the next message.
Courtney: Wanna kick it?
You smile. You needed to get out of the house and do something.
Please. You respond.
You get up and go to Rafe's bathroom, pulling open your drawer where you kept your make up, tampons, moisturizer, and all the other shit you could possibly need when you stay at his house. Although you had your own drawer, lashes and hair ties and glitter still took up most of his bathroom counter.
You get to work on your face, opting for a simple make up look since you and Courtney planned to spend the day getting your nails done and shopping for Wolf.
Here, bitch
You smile, checking yourself in the mirror one more time before heading downstairs.
You hop in Courtney's car and hold up your nails. "Take me to the salon right fucking now. This should be illegal!"
Courtney examined your pink claws in desperate need for a rebase. "Atleast you still have all yours. I'm missing three!"
Courtney backs out of Tannyhill and makes her way to town. "Soooo?" She asks. "How was the doctor yesterday? Did you find out what you're having?!"
You look over at her and smile. "It's a boy."
"I FUCKING KNEW IT!" Courtney screams. "YAYAYAYAYAY!!!"
"We're naming him Wolf." You smile.
"Oh my God that's so fucking cute!!! Where'd you come up with that?"
"Naming him after Rafe. He's absolutely over the moon."
Courtney beams over at you. "I still can't believe you guys are having a baby. Really never thought I'd see the day you or Rafe Cameron settled down."
"I wouldn't exactly say we're settled." You laugh.
"Where is Rafe anyways?"
You shrug. "Said he was taking care of some business. I don't really want to know to be honest."
Courtney nods and decides not to press it further. The two of you go to the salon. You opt for white toenails to bring out your tan and glittery gold coffin nails for your fingers. You felt like a new person as you walked around town, looking at the cute baby items all the shops had. You couldn't believe you were spending a Saturday shopping for a baby instead of getting fucked up on the beach. But you wouldn't have it any other way.
"Yo, is that Rafe and Barry?" Courtney asked suddenly as the two of you made your way down the street.
You look up to see Rafe and Barry fucking with the water system. "What the fuck..." You whisper to yourself before heading towards them. "What are you two doing?"
Rafe and Barry turn to look at you at you and Courtney. "Uuhhhh..."
"You better not try to lie to me right now, Rafe Cameron." You said sternly.
Rafe knew better than to lie. He took your arm and pulled you to the side. "My dad lost the gun..." He stated quietly.
"The one-"
"Yes." He cut you off. "He dropped it down the sewer by accident. We're trying to get it back."
Before you could respond your heard the sound of echoing voices.
"Guys! There's something dead in here!"
You and Rafe walked closer to the sound.
"Is it Gavin?! Do you see the gun?!"
The fucking Pogues.
"They're in the sewer." Rafe states.
"Shit..." You hear Courtney say.
Rafe turns back to Barry. "Flush 'em out."
"You flush that pipe, you gonna kill the rat." Barry warns.
"Yeah." Rafe's voice was confident.
"The last thing you need is more dead bodies showin' up around this bitch."
"If you're gonna be a pussy then you can leave." Rafe says.
"Do you not realize what you are doing, bruh?"
You and Courtney watch as Barry and Rafe stare at eachother for a moment.
"Get the hell out of the way." Rafe finally says. Barry does as he's told and leaves. The three of you standing in silence. You glance at Courtney.
"I'll go get the car," She said. "Be ready."
Courtney walks off towards the car and you turn to Rafe. "They all know?"
He bites his lip and nods.
"Okay. Drown 'em." You tell him. You tried not to think about the murderous path you had joined Rafe on, but you needed to protect your family. These Pogues were going to try to take him down and you couldn't let that happen.
Rafe smiles at you and you smile back. He begins turning the wheel and you watch as water begins to bubble out of the manhole. You listen closely for the voices.
"Guys! The water!" You can hear Kiara yell. "Guys, help!!"
You laugh. "Got 'em."
Courtney pulls up quickly and you and Rafe jump in her car. She speeds off towards Figure Eight, leaving the Pogues to drown in the sewer system.
-
You stared out at the moonlight hitting the water while Rafe and Ward talked.
"I looked for it everywhere, I swear to God." Rafe said.
"I know, I know. I'm not mad at you."
"Listen, if those Pogues got the gun we can just say John B stole it, yeah?"
"Yeah, yeah I mean he lived at the house." Ward responded. "He's a known thief. Absolutely, yes."
You turn to Rafe. He holds out his arm for you and pulls you close to him. You remained quiet while him and Ward talked. You were as much a part of this now as they both were. There was no way you'd be kept out of the loop and they knew that. Even though you were pregnant, you still possessed all the crazy that Rafe did and now that the two of you were expecting, it fueled your fire even more, ready to do absolutely anything to take care of your baby.
"Listen, guys..." Ward begins. "I have to fly to the Bahamas tomorrow. Will you-will you guys go with me?"
Rafe looks at you and you smile your approval. "Yeah, yes sir."
"Good. It will be good to get you guys out of here. And honestly, I feel like I need someone to have my back."
"I got that. All day." Rafe says.
Ward looks at Rafe with love in his eyes. An expression you barely ever see from him. "You do, don't you?"
Rafe smiles. The smile only you and his dad are able to pull out of him. It makes your heart melt.
"Are you okay to fly?" Ward asks you.
"Yeah. I'll be good." You say with a smile.
"Okay. I'll see you two in the morning."
"You sure you're okay to go, sweet girl?" Rafe asks once his dad disappears down the dock.
You felt your hormones take over suddenly and you couldn't help the sob that escaped your lips.
"Baby girl, what's wrong?!" Rafe asked, pulling you into his chest.
"I just-I just want to be with you." You cry. "All the time. I hate when I'm not with you."
"I'm right here, baby. I'm not going anywhere."
"This is just all so overwhelming, Rafe. I just want you to be okay. I'm so scared."
Rafe kneels down in front of you, holding your hips and placing kisses to your belly. He looks up at you. "I'm okay, baby girl. I'm going to make sure everything is okay. I'm going to take care of you and Wolfie, okay?"
You stare down at him through watery eyes and nod, running your fingers through his hair.
"Nothing will take apart our family. I promise." He tells you.
You smile. He smiles back, standing up and pressing his lips to yours. "Let's go pack, baby."
-
You practically want to kiss the ground when you touch down in Nassau. You were puking the entire plane ride. Rafe holding your hair back over a bucket while Ward flew the plain. You had no morning sickness your entire pregnancy but as soon as you were in the air you could not hold on to your stomach.
Once you got into the truck and rolled the windows down you felt a thousand times better. Ward stopped and picked up some sandwiches which you were grateful for because you had absolutely nothing in your stomach.
When you pulled up to the Cameron's Bahama house you were more than excited to go inside and lay down.
"I'm sorry this trip's been so hard, baby." Rafe says sadly as he helps you out of the car.
"It's okay. I'm just glad we're here." You say, lacing your fingers through his and resting the other hand on your baby bump.
"I didn't just bring you guys here because I need your help." Ward says. "I want to show you guys something."
Ward walks over to the large safe he had built into the wall. "You ready?"
You hold Rafe's hand tightly. "What you got in there? The Hope Diamond?" Rafe chuckles.
Ward smiles and opens the door to the safe. Your jaw drops at the sight. Gold. A lot. Of fucking. Gold.
"Is that real?" Rafe asks.
"Son, that's the realest thing there is." Ward says. He grabs two blocks of gold and hands one to each of you.
You gasp at the weight of it in your hands.
"You found..." Rafe begins. "You found the Royal Merchant?"
"Holy shit," You whispered.
"That's what all this has been about. The shit with John B, his dad, Peterkin. It's what Elliot and I worked out. All this gold, it's ours now. It can't bring your sister back, but it can save us."
"Jesus," Rafe whispers, you look up at him in awe.
"When Agatha hit we were in a financial hole, a deep one. Now we're not."
"How much are we looking at here?" You ask as you eye the gold.
"Half a billion." Ward responds.
You drop the gold to the floor as you turn to look at him. "Half-half a billion?"
Ward chuckles, picking the gold bar up off the ground.
"Oh, my God." Rafe says. "Holy shit!" He skips to the back porch. "Whoo! Haha! Dad what?! How is this even possible, huh?!"
You could feel a tear escape your eye as you laughed. You were set for life. I mean shit, you already were, but now you really were. You and Rafe could get a place of your own, you'd be able to send Wolf to college. The world was literally yours.
"Rafe look at me, look." Ward says, grabbing Rafe's shoulders. "I'm hard on you, Rafe. I'm real hard on you. That day on the tarmac. This is what was on the cargo plane." Ward says, holding up a piece of gold. "You were the only reason we were able to fly that out."
You look over at them, watching Rafe absorb his father's words.
"You, Rafe. Without you, no gold."
You walk over to them, pulling them both into a hug.
"You guys will be set. Wolf will be set for life. We wouldn't have this gold without the two of you." Ward says.
Rafe turns and wraps his arms fully around you, picking you up and twirling you around. Ward smiles at the sight of you two.
You giggle in Rafe's arms, pressing a deep kiss to his lips when he sets you down.
"You two go get some rest. We're flying this out first thing in the morning." Ward says, patting Rafe on the back. "You feeling okay, Y/N?"
"Yeah. Yeah, I'm great. Thank you for this." You say to Ward.
"Wouldn't have been able to do it without your dad's help." Ward smiles. "Now go. Figure out what school my grandson will be attending."
You chuckle and offer a smile.
"Thanks, dad." Rafe says before grabbing both your bags and heading upstairs, pulling you along with him.
He brings you to his room of the Bahama house. It was gorgeous. Gold assets and a large double door that lead out to a patio facing the ocean. It looked like a hotel room at the Versace mansion.
You and Rafe were all smiles. "We're set, baby." Rafe says as the two of you lay down on his bed. "We're fucking set."
You laugh. You couldn't believe how fucking set you were. "I fucking love you, Rafe."
"Marry me." He says quickly, but meaningfully. As if the question, or the demand, has been in his head forever. "Please. Please, marry me."
You look over at him in shock.
"I will buy you the prettiest ring. I promise. I just want..." He starts, turning towards you and cupping your cheek. "I want you to be my wife."
You place your hand over his and smile. "Of course I'll marry you, Rafe."
That sets off his big ass grin. "Really?"
"Yes. YES!" You say excitedly.
Rafe rolls you over, pressing a harsh kiss to your lips as he hovers over you. "I'm gonna put another baby in you now." He whispers against your lips.
"I don't think it works like that," You giggle.
"I'm gonna try anyways," He says, reaching under your dress and ripping your panties off.

Clowns
"Respect" - Jegulus microfic - @into-the-jeggyverse - 814 words
--------------------------------------------------------------
Regulus was trying really, really hard to keep a straight face as he watched his boyfriend struggle. He was succeeding so far.
James looked slightly horrified by the - admittedly hideous - clown painting Regulus had brought home.
"You told me that I could choose the theme for movie night," Regulus reminded him. "Remember? It's next Sunday, everyone is coming over."
James hadn't looked away from the thing. He sounded almost faint as he replied. "Uh-huh. I remember."
"Don't you like it?" Regulus pushed, forcing himself to keep up the act. "I thought it would be cool to hang up behind the TV, and we can watch It - you know, the Steven King one? And I found like three other clown movies that look interesting."
James nodded. "Right. That's - um. Okay." He squinted at the painting. "And your theme is clowns? That's the decision here?"
Sometimes growing up in a toxic household had its benefits. Given, they were few and far between, but they did exist. And one of these benefits was that Regulus knew how to act.
"You hate it, don't you?" Regulus asked, pushing a little bit of dejection into his tone.
James looked away from the monstrosity for the first time in ten minutes, wincing at Regulus's expression. "No! It's -" James hesitated as his eyes flickered back to the painting, but seemed to find some resolve as he looked back at his (secretly amused) boyfriend. "It's not what I expected. But that's okay. We all have different ideas, and I respect your choice. It's a good choice," James insisted.
Regulus glanced at the painting. "Are you sure? I don't want to force you into anything."
His boyfriend glanced one more time at the clown before walking over to Regulus and pulling him against his chest, wrapping him up and pressing a kiss to the top of his head. "Of course, I'm sure."
Regulus felt the slightest sting of guilt at how sweet James was being. Especially considering he hated clowns with a passion.
Regulus couldn't see James's expression anymore, but he felt him take a deep breath, and he could hear the sincerity when he spoke next.
"I maybe don't love the clown itself," James admitted quietly. "But I love you, and I love that you made a choice that you'll enjoy. So if having a clown-themed movie night will make you happy, then I'm happy to go along with it, love."
Oh, this was no longer fun. Regulus was regretting the whole thing now.
"We can go hang it up now, if you want?" James offered, and Regulus winced. He'd actually been counting on James rejecting the clown idea immediately.
He really should have known better. James had never refused him anything before.
"Um, Jamie?" Regulus asked quietly.
"Yes, love?"
Regulus bit his lip, hesitating. It felt like a mean trick, in hindsight. "Um. About the clown."
"Yeah?" James asked. When there was no reply, he continued. "I know I probably didn't react very well at first, but I meant what I said. I didn't mean to make you second-guess yourself."
Regulus squeezed his eyes shut. This was so bad. Why had he done this?
It was all Barty's fault, he decided. This was the last time he listened to one of Barty's ideas.
Part of him just wanted to go with it now - the clown was creepy and he actually really hated those movies, but he didn't want to admit he'd been playing a trick on James when James had been so sweet about it.
On the other hand, if James apologized one more time he was going to start crying.
"I don't actually want the theme to be clowns," Regulus said quickly.
He felt more than heard James's confusion. "What?"
With a deep sigh, Regulus turned around and met his boyfriend's eyes. "I didn't actually choose a clown theme. It was just a trick to see how you'd react to the really creepy painting."
Regulus watched James for a reaction. He knew that it wouldn't be anger - James was too well-adjusted for that - but he was worried James might be a little upset.
He did not expect the huge, beaming smile.
"So it's not clowns?" James checked, eyes wide. At Regulus's answering nod, he let out a long breath and pulled Regulus into a tight hug. "Thank God. I was dreading the nightmares that thing was going to cause."
Regulus could've melted in relief. "You're not upset?"
"Upset?" James pulled back with a laugh, shaking his head. "No, love, I am so, so happy right now." He glanced at the painting and then gave Regulus a thoughtful look. "Did you actually buy that?"
"Uh, yeah, but we can throw it out," Regulus suggested.
"Can we burn it?" James asked. He gave Regulus a pleading look. "I would really love to burn it."
"Yeah, James," Regulus laughed. "We can burn it."
