roommate!James x shy!reader ♡ 1k words
James is so absorbed in the football match on his phone that when there’s a tap on the window next to his face, he jolts halfway across the center console and squeaks like he’s twelve years old again.
You’re beaming outside the car. Your shoulders shake with quiet, un-self-conscious laughter, so it’s impossible for James to be any kind of upset. Still, he makes a show of huffing a little as his own smile spreads. He reaches over and opens his door.
“Sorry,” you say. You don’t look it, so he lets you off the hook for your over-apologizing.
“Who do you think would drive you home if I had a heart attack?” James asks. He’s somewhat breathless, either because of the scare or the easier-than-usual grin still fixed on your face.
You lean against the side of his car and roll your eyes. “Oh, your heart’s too healthy to be in danger of attacks.”
“What are you doing on this side of the car? You’re the passenger, you know.”
“Okay, listen.” You give him a very intentional look. It’s more eye contact than he’s used to from you, and it makes his guts go all twisty in a surprisingly nice way. “It’s completely up to you, of course, but I think I’m about to make you an offer you can’t refuse.”
It clicks into place. “You’re drunk.”
“Not very.” Your grin is a short fall from impish. Your eyes sparkle. God help him. “But you’re about to be.”
James feels his eyebrows float up. “How do you figure?”
“Because I’ve come to collect you. If you want.”
“To collect me…where?”
“Inside,” you say, as though this should be obvious. You tip your head towards the restaurant. “We’ve just closed, and we have so much wine. Pleasepleaseplease, James, come in.”
“Okay.” He’s letting you tug him from his car before he knows what he’s agreed to, only that one please will always be enough to get whatever you want from him. “Alright, love, but doesn’t your manager mind that you’re drinking their wine?”
You let loose a bark of laughter, loud and sharp and totally unlike you. “Tom? Yeah, right.”
Tom, James learns quickly upon entering the rowdy atmosphere of your workplace after hours, is younger than the both of you, hardly old enough to serve alcohol and yet managing the restaurant. And the wine isn’t stolen, necessarily, but the fortunate leavings of a wealthy customer who bought more bottles than his table could handle and then left nearly all of them.
Everyone who’d been on the night shift is strewn about the empty restaurant. Servers and busboys and dishwashers all perched on stools, standing behind the bar, sitting criss-cross-applesauce on tables. You take James by the hand, first reclaiming the bottle of wine you’d evidently stored behind the host’s station and then leading him around the room to introduce him to various coworkers. His hand feels warm and tingly. You have an easy repartee and a million in-jokes with the servers, but even the kitchen staff seems to adore you. As they rightly should, James thinks. It’s obvious you’re as kind and considerate here as you are at home, and he feels a bit silly for not having been able to picture you in this place so clearly before now.
Art is working with you again tonight. It’s embarrassing, the warm wave of relief that James feels when he notices you don’t pay him any extra attention. He makes a mental note to extend his offer of a ride home more often. Every time your hand starts to slip from James’, you readjust your grip before he can even think of doing it himself. Suits him just fine; ever since your mugging incident, suddenly James is in this weird place where he always wants a hand on you.
You say his name, and then the lip of a bottle is being pushed against his lips.
“You haven’t had hardly any.” You look like you’re trying to pout, but your eyes are smiling.
James takes the bottle from you. He looks you in the eyes as he takes a sip as if to say, Happy? It’s barely enough to warm his throat. “I am still driving us home, you know.”
The pout is getting better. “I know, but I’m trying to be fun for you. You don’t have to drive us if you don’t want to! You’re always the one doing the nice things.”
“Oh, don’t.” His tone is fonder than he means for it to be, but luckily you’re too tipsy to mind. “You’re plenty fun. You do nice things for me all the time.”
“Yeah, but not enough to balance out.” You make your eyes big and pitiful. James feels fortunate this isn’t a skill you seem inclined to utilize sober. “Obviously you don’t have to if you don’t want to, but—Jamie, don’t hold back because of me, please.”
His stomach does an impressive flip. He doesn’t think you realize you’ve called him that, doubts you’d have done it under normal circumstances, but his nervous system cares not for rationalizations. He wants desperately to hear you say it again.
You beam as James lifts the bottle to his lips again, taking a few hearty gulps. You both end up walking home that night, but you wake even before James to go retrieve his car in the morning.

I wonder sometimes how often people read my tags when they get long. Like i go on long tangents, if you read there's probably lore and world building in there, could also be writing about my relationship with things like sexuality or gender or society, could also be talking shit about my dad. Could also be me staying something cringe or raunchy or just being plainly mentally ill. It's really rolling the dice when you go look. Is the risk worth the reward?

AI and PDF Crochet Patterns
AI generated images can be great for inspiring projects, but most of the time it's used online to generate revenue for scammers and the like.
Just scrolling through Etsy rn looking for crochet patterns, I've come across several listings (some with false 5 star reviews to boost engagement/trust) where the patterns and images are clearly AI generated and people, unfortunately, have fallen for the listings.
Some of the images might look totally obvious to you, but to the untrained eye they can be convincing.
SOOO, how do you spot AI crochet patterns?
Look at the stitches. Are there pieces that don't seem to stitch into one another? Are the lengths and sizes inconsistent? Some are more obvious than others, but AI fails to replicate consistent textures.
Lighting and saturation. AI images often are vibrant and cartoon-ish. Especially the eyes of projects - usually this is a pretty good giveaway. Additionally, is the image smooth? What's in the background? Does it make sense?
Limited photos on listing. Most legitimate shops are going to have multiple photos of the finished project on the listing - AI is fairly advanced, but not the best at recreating exact images. Does the listing only have one photo? Does it have multiple but with variants between projects (that are meant to be the same)? Are there any videos?
Is it even possible? This can be tricky if you are new to crochet, but as above, take a moment to look at the stitches and the overall shape of the project. Does it look plausable? Especially if they projects say 'no sew'. Additionally, if you have already purchased the pattern - does it tell you how much material you need, and does it make sense? Does it tell you crochet hook size?
Legit photo but AI generated pattern. Sometimes the images are real - but they've been stolen from another creators account and the scam shop has simply asked AI (such as ChatGPT) to write up a crochet pattern. These are less obvious at a glance, but most reputable shops will have social media, consistent themes of crochet projects and reviews with pictures of finished products uploaded by customers.
6. Ok, but what if they use AI but the reviews seem legit? Crochet Baby Duck - this is an AI generated picture and pattern, and while the shop has posted several pictures of the finished project it is clear that it does not match up with the AI generated duck pictured in the listing. The hat, feet, and bill are all different sizes and this is even noted in some of the customer reviews. While this isn't as scammy as straight up using AI generated images/patterns without showing how the finished project looks - it is still taking away from legitimate pattern makers. Being able to design and execute good patterns is a skill, and the prices of legitimate patterns often reflect this. Why does the shop even use AI pictures if they post the real life projects anyway? Cus it drives traffic, and lets be real - the real life plush dolls look no where near as good as the AI images.
This is the same as the walrus - AI generated image and pattern, this is even endoresed by Etsy so you cannot rely on 'Etsy picks' being legitimate as they choose profits over morals.
These patterns are not just limited to Etsy, they are often on Pinterest or websites for 'free' to generate traffic and collect data (asking for your e-mail for the free pattern). Such as this Peacock Crochet IRL figure by u/Echo-o_0 on Reddit.
This is not just limited to crochet, I've seen it in sewing, knitting, and any other PDF downloads that you can purchase or get for free. Unfortunately, it is a simple way for people to make a quick but and face little to no consequences as their store *might* get deleted and even then, they can just start a new one up.

She Didn't, But Melissa Did- Part 1. Part 2.

Tumblr media
A few minutes later, your wife comes back into the room, Hadley proudly announcing that she was helping her nonna cook dinner.
“That she did,” Melissa laughs as she kisses your granddaughter’s chubby cheek. She settles back on the couch, holding Hadley close. “Now give me more of this paper.”
—
When I was seventeen, I went to senior prom. Momma went with me to pick out my prom dress, of course she did. But so did Ma. Carrie wouldn’t have gone, and had she- I would’ve ended up with a dress I hated. But I didn’t. I ended up with the dress of my dreams because of Ma. I knew we were working with an unspoken budget, but there was one dress that was just out of reach. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get it- especially with alterations that would be necessary for the dress to fit. But when I went to put it back, Ma took it right from my hands and up to the register. Her card was swiped, and both Momma and I couldn’t believe it. Ma did the alterations herself. I’m pretty sure Carrie couldn’t sew a straight line if her life depended on it.
——
“You pick any dress you might wanna try on, Mill,” Melissa told your daughter as the three of you walked into the store.
“Babe, we do have a-”
“Just trust me on this one,” the redhead whispered to you as she held your hand tightly.
Millie found a beautiful green dress- one that looked like it was made for her. You couldn’t help but admire it as she held it out.
“Go try it on,” Melissa instructed. “Go.”
Your daughter tried it on, and it fit her beautifully- you’re fairly certain this dress was made for her. But then her eyes landed on the price tag, and she went to put it back.
You frowned, but your wife had already let go of your hand, taken the gown into her own hands, and was on her way to the cashier.
“Ma,” Millie tried to protest, but the redhead just waved a hand and handed her card over.
It was later that night that your wife asked you, “I wasn’t able to spoil her for the first seven years of her life. Let me have this?”
You chuckled softly against her. “Hun, you’ve been spoiling her for the last ten years.”
——
Just like freshman year homecoming (and all of the other homecoming dances I attended), Ma invited my friends over for pictures. She was in the center of the parents, getting the perfect shots. I felt like a princess. I wouldn’t have felt like that if I was still with Carrie- I would’ve been Cinderella, and the Cinderella before she attended the ball.  When I was eighteen, I graduated high school. Carrie didn’t show up to my graduation ceremony. Do you know who did? Momma. Ma. The two of them cheered louder than any other family, and they did so for every child- many of my classmates being former students of Ma’s. When I gave my valedictorian speech, I couldn’t believe how far I had come from the small, scared girl I once was. Ma recorded it, and when we play the video back, you can hear her small sniffles as she struggles to keep the camera from shaking.
——
“We were so proud of you,” you smile.
Melissa nods. “Still are.”
“I know,” your daughter smiles sweetly.
“Everything that you’ve turned into,” your wife says softly as she shifts Hadley to the other side of her lap. “Your momma and I couldn’t be more proud.”
“Stop getting sappy, and keep reading.
——
When I went away to college, I wasn’t all that far away. Some of my friends traveled across the country. I went four hours away to Syracuse for journalism. Both of my mothers were there to help me move in. Carrie would’ve never. Had she been there, I can only assume she would’ve made Momma do all of the heavy lifting- afraid she would break a nail and not giving a damn in the world about all of my momma’s aches and pains that she caused.  Mel was the first one to help unload the u-haul. She was the one to bring every heavy item inside, along with the help of some of the people she knew. Momma and I barely had to lift a finger.
——
“Melissa!” you had scolded for what felt like the millionth time that day.
“I’m just tryin’ to help move in our girl!” your wife argued.
Millie huffed. “Ma, I’m here, Momma’s here, and the guys are here. You do not need to be doing all of this!”
“Your knees and back are going to be killing you tomorrow,” you warned.
Melissa just grunted as she helped to lift the dresser. Then, under her breath, “And my perfect wife will help nurse me back to health.”
——
“And you were sore for days afterwards,” you tease your wife.
The redhead shrugs with a smile. “I had to make sure Tony didn’t fu- mess it up. An’ I was right- you were the wonderful wife I knew I married and took care of me.”
“Reminds me of when you were pregnant with Had,” Noah nudges your daughter. “Told me you wouldn’t do anything with the nursery, and I come home to it being finished, you groaning in pain, and Melissa already holding an ice pack to her neck.”
“And you took great care of me when I was hurting the next few days,” Millie leans over and gives her husband a gentle peck on the lips.
“I took care of you then too,” you rolls your eyes as you throw a non-serious glare at your wife. “Stubborn, stubborn, stubborn,” you tut.
“If I didn’t know any better,” Noah grumbles. “I’d think you were Mel’s daughter through and through.”
——
College was not an easy transition for me. I was homesick within the first week. I called my momma and ma every day. It didn’t matter who I called, they always answered. Carrie never answered her phone.  One particular Thursday, I finally broke. At two in the morning, I called Ma. And where Carrie would’ve been too drunk to answer the phone, Ma answered, and she came to my rescue. My biological mother would have never. But Melissa did.
——
“Millie?” Melissa’s low, sleep-filled voice answered the phone.
Sniffles could be heard on the other end of the line. “Ma.”
“Hun, what’s goin’ on?” Your wife untangled herself from your hold before sitting up and shaking you gently by the shoulder. You let a quiet groan out before peeling an eye open. She mouthed your daughter’s name, and that’s all she had to do for you to fully wake up.
“I- I wanna come home,” Millie cried into the phone. “I- I wanna come home. I want you and Momma.”
“Okay, honey. Okay,” Melissa whispered into the phone. She threw the covers off of her body and began to change out of her pajamas and into a hoodie and yoga pants. You did the same. “You don’t have class tomorrow, do you?”
“N- no,” your daughter sniffled into the phone.
“Okay,” your wife whispered. “Okay, sweetheart. Momma and I gonna come get you, and we’ll be there by seven, okay?”
“N-no,” Millie whined. “I- I just meant that I wanted to come home tomorrow on the bus.”
“We’re already up and on our way.”
You and you wife pulled onto campus at 6:30 in the morning. Melissa called your daughter, who came flying out of her apartment. Her cheeks had a trail of tears, and upon seeing Millie in such a state, Melissa knew she had made the right choice getting out of bed in the middle of the night to come get her. Before she could even get out of the car, Millie was clinging to your wife in a way that reminded you just how lucky you and your daughter were to have her in your life.
“I got you, Mills,” Melissa had whispered, stroking the blonde hair gently. “C’mon, kiddo. Let’s get you home.”
——
“You were crazy for that,” Millie chuckles.
Melissa shrugs. “I don’t regret it.”
——
I met my husband during the second semester of my sophomore year. We started dating in March, and I told my parents about him in April. Come the end of the semester, Noah and I were still in a fairly new relationship, but there was something about it that made me feel… like maybe this relationship was the one that would end in marriage. I truly believe that if Carrie had still been around, as opposed to being happy for me, she would’ve asked me if Noah came from money. Ma asked if I was happy- really and truly happy. Of course, my answer was yes. But then she took it a step further and sat me down for a conversation, just the two of us. And it really showed me how much Melissa was there for me- and for Momma.
——
“Kiddo,” Melissa sat your daughter down while you were out grocery shopping.
“Yeah?” Millie was texting on her phone, absolutely absorbed in the conversation with her boyfriend.
“Mill,” your wife said seriously. “Honey, put the phone down. I want to talk to you about this Noah boy before I meet him.”
Your daughter reluctantly set her phone to the side before giving the redhead her attention.
“So… Noah,” Melissa hummed out.
“I really like him, Ma,” Millie told your wife. “Please don’t be all… you about this and scare him off.”
“I never said I would,” your wife countered. “I just want to make sure that he’s good enough for my Millie.”
“He’s great, Ma,” your daughter chuckled. “He’s sweet, he’s a gentleman, he always makes sure I’m comfortable… my friends like him. He makes me feel… really special. He makes me feel like… like I’m more than just some girl he met at a party and only wants to get in my pants.”
“Well that’s good,” Melissa sighs out. “But I- honey, I just don’t want to see you getting hurt the way your momma got hurt- which is a lot of the reason we’re having this conversation without her here.”
Millie raised a brow.
“I know your mom and I have been together for a while now, but I still see the way that Carrie affects her to this day,” your wife admits quietly. “And I- I do everything I can to let her know that I love her more than anything- that she’s worthy of that love. But if someone breaks that in you, Jesus, Mill. I don’t even want to think about having to cleaning that mess up- literally.”
“Ma,” your daughter rolled her eyes. Then she smiled. “I appreciate that you care so much about this and me, and Momma. But I- I don’t know. There’s something about Noah that makes me feel different. Please, just… trust me on this one?”
The redhead nods, just once. She takes Millie’s hands into her own. “Just know that if this Noah boy ever hurts you, there will be hell to pay.”
——
When I was twenty three, Noah asked my moms for their blessing to marry me. My biological mother would have outright rejected that- would’ve hated Noah. Because unlike her, Noah is a kind man with a heart of gold. He’s somebody you can depend on- someone who is the exact opposite of Carrie. But Melissa, after getting to know my boyfriend of four years, eagerly agreed. She still threatened that if he ever hurt me, he would never be heard from again. Momma rolled her eyes at Ma’s threat and happily told him he was already a part of the family.  When I was twenty four, Noah and I got married. Ma gave me away. Carrie never would have done that. She held Momma’s hand tightly the entire ceremony. And when we were pronounced as husband and wife, I swear you could hear Ma’s sniffed cheers over everyone else. Up until the reception, everyone thought that I had, in true fashion, taken Noah’s last name. That was not true. I was keeping my last name- I was officially Mrs. Amelia Marie Schemmenti, a name that I had taken great pride in and was not willing to give up. It was the piece of me that Melissa had given me when I was twelve. Noah understood; of course he did. The only other people who were aware of the breaking of tradition were the photographers, who was instructed to take pictures of my husband and I walking in but also of Ma, who would be in for the surprise of her life. That picture, along with the one of my ma hugging me for the first time as a married woman, are framed in my house. It is easily one of the highlights of the wedding. That, and being able to dance with both of my mothers. Where Carrie would have done it for show, ensuring that she looked her absolute best, Melissa did it because she loves me. When I was twenty five, I found out I was pregnant with Hadley. As you can imagine, both of our parents were ecstatic. They were all more than willing to help. Carrie would’ve made a Facebook post to announce that she was going to become a grandmother for the attention, and then she would’ve let my momma do all of the heavy lifting when it came down to it. Not Melissa. Melissa was always there for me- sometimes to the point that I wished she would just leave me alone. She was constantly bringing over remedies to help me with morning sickness, had baby clothes and toys over by the bin, and she was always helping me assemble things to the point that my husband or Momma walking in on us with ice or heat was the norm.
——
“Ma,” Millie groaned. “Stop bringing stuff over. This baby is gonna have more than enough.”
“You can never have enough baby clothes and diapers with the amount of shit kids produce,” Melissa singsonged as she came in with yet another box of diapers. “Trust me.”
“I know, Ma,” your daughter had sighed. “But we haven’t even had the baby shower yet, and there’s already so much crap in the house.”
“The stuff I bring over is not crap, Amelia,” the redhead said sternly as she dropped the box in what would become the nursery. “I believe I’m waiting for a ‘thank you’.”
“Thank you Ma. But seriously, you’ve already done enough. I don’t want you to hurt yourself again.”
Hours later, you walked in from work to see your wife on the couch with a heating pad to her back while your pregnant daughter’s feet were in her lap. Millie had an ice pack on her wrist.
“What the hell did you two do today?”
“Put the crib together,” Melissa shrugged.
You sighed. “Noah and I told you we would take care of that.”
“I hate sitting around and doing nothing all day,” Millie told you. “I’m pregnant, not broken.”
——
When I went into labor with Hadley, I was terrified. I was in a pain worse than I ever thought imaginable. Momma was there for me the whole time, as was Noah. And where my biological mother had no idea that I was married and pregnant, Ma did- and she fought like hell to be able to be in the room with me when I needed her most. She made sure I was taken care of, had the best doctors in the room thanks to her connections (how she still has connections in the city is beyond me), and was my biggest cheerleader. When Hadley finally decided to make her appearance in this world, Ma and Momma both burst into tears of joy. And when Ma heard Hadley’s middle name… I wish we had a photograph of it.
——
“She’s beautiful,” Melissa whispered from the other side of your daughter. She pressed a soft kiss to Millie’s clammy forehead. “Absolute perfection.”
“She really is,” you affirmed quietly, eyes never leaving the baby in your little girl’s arms. “Did you still decide to go with Hadley?”
Millie nodded, stroking her daughter’s cheek with the tip of her finger.
“You wanna tell them the middle name?” Noah asked his wife.
“Not yet,” your daughter chuckled softly. “Let them hold her first.”
Hadley was passed to you first. Your granddaughter was the second most perfect baby you had ever seen- Millie being the first. And then your daughter took her own child back. She gave a soft smile before looking up to Melissa with so much love. Your wife mirrored her expression almost to a tee.
“Ma, meet your granddaughter,” Millie carefully transferred the baby from her arms to Melissa’s. Then she spoke again softly, “Hadley Melissa, meet Nonna.”
“Hadley Meli-” the redhead whispered softly before her eyes went wide. “You- you didn’t.”
“We did,” your daughter promised quietly. “Her name is Hadley Melissa, after you.”
——
Since that day, Ma has been the best Nonna to our Hadley Melissa. That doesn’t come as a shock to anyone though- Ma has always been the best. She’s there whenever any of us need her, and she’s there even when we don’t call on her to be there. Where Carrie tried to beat us down and break us apart from the time that I was born, Melissa lifted us up and showed us that we were worth something.  When Carrie finally showed her true colors to people who really mattered in helping Momma and I get out of our situation, Melissa was there. While Carrie was off galavanting with her new boyfriend and not giving a damn about her daughter, Melissa picked up the pieces and made me whole again. Carrie never did, never would, never could. But Melissa, my Ma, did. Melissa Schemmenti went from my second grade teacher, to my step-mother, to my mother- and throughout all of that, she was my savior. She was the one who was always there for me; when I needed love and comfort, a strict talking to, or simply someone to listen- it was always Melissa who was there to be there for me when my biological mother wasn’t. I wouldn’t be nearly the woman I am today without Ma by my side, helping to guide me through it all. No- if I was still with Carrie, I would probably be Amelia Marie Nowak, a bitter woman who was never capable of finding love. But today, I am a woman with a life full of love and joy. I write this as Amelia Marie Schemmenti. I write this with a name that I am proud of. I am who I am today, not because of Carrie- my biological mother, but because of Melissa. Melissa, my ma, the one who proved to me that love can come in the most surprising of ways.
——
“Millie,” Melissa whispers as she finishes reading. She lifts her glasses to the top of her head again before wiping away the tears that had spilled over at the last few paragraphs. “Millie, my god.”
“Yeah?” your daughter looked to her mother as she nervously rubbed at her collarbone.
“Hun, this is…” the redhead pulls Millie into a tight hug, kissing her cheek. “I don’t deserve this.”
“You do,” both you and your daughter smile at the same time.
“W-what made you write this?” you ask quietly, a warm smile on your face. God, your daughter was an amazing writer. You wouldn’t be surprised if this piece went bigger than just the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Millie purses her lips. “National step-parent day is coming up, and I had a deadline… I wrote from the heart?”
“That beautiful, big heart of yours,” you chuckle softly as you too lean over to kiss her head.
“My boss wants me to publish it,” your daughter tells the two of you again. “Said it’s a good piece. Already had me write a summary and everything. You want to read it?”
Millie pulls out one more piece of paper.
——
National Step-parents Day is September 16th. Why would there be such a day for step-parents though? Step-parents are perceived as ‘wicked’, Cinderella’s step-mother being the most notable of this trope. They have been for as long as I can remember.  So, when my mother decided to start dating again, I was terrified. But I would learn… sometimes step-parents are the best thing that could ever happen to you. This is my story.
——
“Publish it,” Melissa encourages Millie. “Publish it, and put out some good in the world.”
“I will,” Millie smiles as she reaches to take Melissa’s hand. “Thank you. For liking it, for the approval, and… for being the best Ma there is.”
Millie’s short memoir detailing her life with Melissa is published on September 16th. Her article ends up blowing up- getting much more attention than anyone thought it would. It makes its way to the press- forcing you, your wife, and your daughter to do various interviews, and others write to your daughter about how much this piece affects them. It ends up winning awards, and Millie goes on to become one of the most renowned journalists of the decade.
With each letter that your daughter writes back, each speech and interview that Millie gives, every award that she accepts, she always makes sure to let the world know that she couldn’t have done it without Melissa.
In the end though, none of that really matters to your daughter. Sure, the praise and awards are nice- truly helps along her career. The medals and trophies that sit on her mantle make for nice conversation with friends and those that come for dinner. But what matters the most? It’s that one article- a smaller text version that fits on two pages- that Melissa took upon herself to frame and hang above the fireplace that means the most to her.

hey if you write a pattern for the chilchuck amigurumi I will buy it instantly
ive gotten multiple asks about this, so ill just answer them all here in one go.
i wrote down everything while i was working on it, but i theres some stuff that i would do diffrently and i also didnt take a lot of process pics so it wont be a full proper pattern for those reasons, but ill add all that i have under the cut!
i dont want any compensation, but if you wanna do me a favor you can donate to esims for gaza, unrwa, any of these gefundme's, or another trusted charity of your choice.
now to the pattern! i would love to see the results of anyone making a squeakychuck, feel free to tag or dm me :)
the dimensions of this depend on the size of ur squeaker and yarn, i had a 4ish cm squeaker and somewhat thick 4/8 cotton yarn (kinda 6/8ish thickness). depending on ur yarn and squeaker u might need to follow a different pattern for the body.
if youre using a different body base pattern, the tunic and blouse pattern are pretty easily adjustable. ill add some notes for that at those sections of the pattern. ill also link some videos i used at relevant sections.
if theres an Action store near where u live, see pic below for the yarn i used for the skin, reddish brown, black and light brown. i got 3 of these but 2 packs was enough. the dark brown and creme were from my stash. i also got the squeaker from a donut dog toy from Action.

if you have any questions feel free to dm me, might take me a while to reply though.

Arms (skin, dark brown)
i made the arms movable with button joints, but after looking at some videos i discovered that what i did is not called a button joint and i dont have a video explaining it, so i hope this drawing helps.
Tumblr media
the red bits are the buttons inside of the arms and body, and the thread (blue for clarity, i matched it w the skin) should be pulled tight and finished off with a double or tripple knot inside the body.
or you could just sew on the arms that also works. but wait with doing that until youve finished the blouse as the hands dont fit through the sleeves. i have a seperate section on assembly at the end of the pattern.
start with skin

Tumblr media
boots (light brown, dark brown, greyish creme) [video]
these are removable but they dont go on easily, so you gotta patiently massage the feet in there.
start with light brown
ch 7, start in 2nd from hook:
r1: sc 5, 3inc, sc 4, inc
r2: inc, sc 4, inc 3, sc 4, inc 2
r3: inc, sc 5, hdc inc 7, sc 5, inc 2
r4: slst fasten off. sew in holes/tails, fray ends for flat gluejob. trace onto cardboard for sole.

r6: sc7, dec2, sc 10
r7-10: sc in all
switch color to greyish creme
r11-12: sc in all
r13: slst, FLO sc in all
r14-16: sc all
slst fasten off
flip the greyish creme flap over.
blouse (thinner creme)
this is a standard raglan pattern, if you need the whole thing bigger/smaller you need to have more/less chains at the beginning. this change also carries over to the collar. the increases are evenly spaced for me, and unless your doll has a very broad chest this shouldnt have to change.
if the arms need more space you need to either add more rows to the r3-7 part and/or add more chains in r8 (this part should fit pretty sugg around the body)
i was experimenting a bit w using BLO to minimize the gap where the sleeve and body seperate (r8). it worked p good but you can ignore it if you dont understand it and just sc in all.
(edit: if this confuses you, understandable. I answered an ask abt it here but feel free to ask if its still unclear)
r1: ch24, slst join.
r2: (sc 5, inc) x4
r3-7: inc in first of previous inc. last row should have 10 sc between increases.
r8: sc5, blo sc 1, ch 5, blo sc join in 1st of next inc, sc 11, blo sc1, ch5, blo sc join in 1st st of next inc, sc 5
r9: sc6, blo sc 1, sc 5, blo sc1, sc11, blo sc 1, sc 5, blo sc 1, sc 6
r10-13: sc in all (36)
r14: (sc8, inc)x4
r15: sc in all (40)
slst finish off
Sleeve
r1: join mid armpit, slst ,sc2, sc in the leftover bits from the BLO stitches, sc 11, sc in leftover BLO bits, sc2
r2-6: sc in all
collar
join left-middle front, sc 7, inc, sc8, inc, sc 7. turn
r2: sc7, inc, sc 10, inc, sc 7. turn
r3: sc8, inc, sc 10, inc, sc 8. turn

r1: join mid body-facing side, FLO sc 20
r2-4: sc 20, slst fatsen off
Tumblr media
Tunic (red brown) [tunesian entrelac crochet]
if you want to make this bigger i recommend keeping the same square layout, but making the squares bigger. its a bit of measuring and math to figure it out.
the tunic is made in tunesian crochet and i dont really know what written patterns for that look like so i hope this makes sense.
for a single square:
r1: ch4, start in 2nd back bump from hook. pull up a loop from ever back bump. you should have 4 loops on your hook total. simplestitch in all
r2-4: simplestitch in all.
r5: slst in all. fasten off
for the slanted parts i did the decrease by pulling through the middle 2 loops in one go on the back pass
this is how the full thing should look, its worked from bottom left to top right.
Tumblr media
sew together the shoulders together, then sew in all of the ends
:) good luck
Tumblr media
tunesian crochet has a tendancy to curl, so if you used cotton i def recommend blocking it
i defined the grid a little bit with a dark brown pencil.
cowl (green)
BLO sc 7, repeat till desired lenght, then BLO slst join the last row to the first.
scalp undercut bit (dark brown)
r1: sc 6 in mr
r2: (inc) x6
r3: (sc 1, inc) x6
r4: (sc 2, inc) x6
r5: (sc3, inc) x6
r6: (sc 4, inc)x6
r7: sc36
sew on back of the head (recommend doing this before the ears and face, see end for more detailed assembly instructions)
Tumblr media
hair (reddish brown) [hair video]
disclaimer, this is kind of a mess. the lenghts didnt line up the way i intended so i improvised by adding loose strands and spent a lot of time pinning every strand in place before glueing them down.
i used bison kit contact glue since its sturdy, transparant, flexible and waterproof. you can use hot glue as well, i just personally dont like it because its bulky.
r1: sc 21 in mc. join BLO slst
r2: ch 12, sc in 2nd from hook, gdc10, BLO slst join
r3: ch 12, sc in 2nd from hook, gdc10, BLO slst join
r4: ch13, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 11, BLO slst join
r5: ch13, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 11, BLO slst join
r6: ch 14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12, BLO slst join
r7: ch16, sc in 2nd form hook, hdc 14, BLO slst join

r9: ch 18, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 16, BLO slst join
r10: ch 14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12, BLO slst join
r11: ch 12, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 10, BLO slst join
r12: ch 10, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 8, BLO slst join
from now on, join in the FLO's of previous round
r13: ch10, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 8, FLO slst join
r14: ch10, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 8 , FLO slst join
r15: ch12, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 10 , FLO slst join
r16: ch12, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 10 , FLO slst join

r18: ch16, sc in 2nd form hook, hdc 14, FLO slst join
r19: ch 18, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 16, FLO slst join
r20: ch16, sc in 2nd form hook, hdc 14, FLO slst join
r21: ch14, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 12 , FLO slst join
1x ch 6, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 4
2x ch8, sc in 2nd from hook, hdc 6
2x ch 10, sc in 2nd from chain, hdc 8, slst in same, fasten off.
2x ch 12, sc in 2nd from chain, hdc 10, slst in same, fasten off.
3x ch14
pin all in place until it looks good, tie +glue loose strands first. then glue back pieces, crown, and lastly bangs/ top back layer. some of the lose strands go behind the ears, one is the left sideburn, and the rest is to cover up the crown. these pics are the best i can do as a guide, this was my first time doing this so i was struggling lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i didnt fully glue down the bangs and the top back layer bc i thought it would be fun if u could ruffle his hair, but my friend who i gave the plush to has significantly abused him (its been 2 days) and his hair is a mess so im gonna have to glue it down again lol. might as well do it all the first time if u plan on throwing him down the stairs or something.
Face
for eyes + eyebrows, embroider outline with dark brown, then needle felt [video] the inner parts w unraveled dark brown fluff. the dark brown i used was probably acrylic. cotton doesnt really work well for this.
Tumblr media
Belt and pouch (dark brown)
the belt is a 3 strand basic friendship bracelet! [video]
sew together the ends and hide it with by sewing the pouch on top.
i didnt write down the pattern for the pouch, but from the top of my head its the same start as the squares for the tunic
r1-9: simple stitch in all
r10: simple stitch 1, decrease by putting your hook through 2 vertical bars when pulling up a loop, simple stitch edge 1.
r11: slst in all, finish with a long tail
use tail to sew together the sides, and sew the pouch onto the belt. use some yellow thread to make a button.
ASSEMBLY.
put on the blouse, put the arms in their place and finish the button joints.
put on the tunic, lace the sides with dark brown yarn, finish with a knot and hide the tails underneath the chest part of the tunic.
slide on the belt and boots.
sew the scalp undercut bit to the head
sew the ears to the head
tie + glue the loose hair strands behind the ears
glue the back of the hair
glue the back of the hair
glue the middle circle part of the hair
glue the top back layer and bangs
sew the head to the body
put on the cowl
Tumblr media
i hope this is somewhat clear, feel free to dm me is you have questions.
enjoy your squeakychuck :D

This is so transphobic like what the hell is this
Tumblr media
↓Screenshot↓
Tumblr media

[Image Id: A large addition to a tumblr poat reading "Also if I'm going to be honest, passing as a man is also just easier than passing as a woman. The rules to being a man and passing as a man are much more lenient than being a woman or passing as a woman. Trans women have to worry about shit like "I need to wear an outfit that distracts people from the fact I have an adams apple, and not allow people to see that I have shoulders, and learn makeup and basically become a voice actor and etc. and maybe I won't be called a man today" (and if you pass too well and the wrong cis guy feels guilty about being attracted to you, you get murdered meanwhile if you're a trans guy and you wanna pass as a man, you gotta like have short hair and hide or remove your boobs and at this point you can already just go to the grocery store and most people will see you as a man. Once you get facial hair and a deeper voice, most people will just see you as some guy. Like I don't understand why transmascs insist on this idea that they could never really pass. Like the idea that trans man who passes is almost far-fetched. Weird as hell." End Id]
Lets upack this shall we?
1."Passing as a man is easier than passing as a woman"
No it's not. The rules to being a man and passing as a men as strict as lots of rules for women. Have you ever seen a cis guys who fails to pass? They're called names, theyre physically beat, and theyre often ostracized from their cis peers just as fast as any trans person. Cis boys cant even pass half the time by the rules they made. Quit fucking lying about men just magically having it so easy.
Your experiences as passing as a man aren't universal and if you've never passed as one what makes you think it's fucking easy?
Also god forbid you're a black man, or a black man who is into something deemed feminine. Shit I've seen guys call black men women for wearing a damn hair bonnet.
Oh not to mention I'm only a man to transphobes when they can call me a "dangerous black man" only to switch back to tryibg to detransition me by saying "you can just be a masc girl!"
2.Adams apple
While you have to hide yours, I have to wear shit that distracts people that I *don't* have one. Cause, and I know this is wild, if they expect you not to have one for being a women, what do they expect me to have for being a man? Hmm? And if you're a man who's adams apple never came in? I've seen them called girls to. Shit I've heard a guy called not manly for missing his, and he was still in puberty!!
3.Shoulders
While you have to hide you shoulders, I have to do whatever I can to have the.. small shoulders on men? maybe if youre in a "non manly" field like music or art, but I do gym work. I better look likeit regardless of the disability that effacts my muscles growth and development or I am called maam by every guy there. Which sucks btw.
4. Makeup and voice acting:
Trans men also are regularly advised to wear makeup that masculinizes them and do voice training. thats some of our oldest passing tips. thats litterally never been unique to trans women. what the FUCK kinda of implications are you trying to put out here?
5. Murder:
Hey did you know cis guys will murder trans men bc they were attracted to them and then found out they werent "real men" and then kill them. shit cis women also kill us if they find out they were attracted to us and we aren't their ideal man anymore. do u know how men who hear im butch and into women behave?
Fuck right the fuck off trying to tokenize the murder lf trans women while throwing trans men murders in the "that doesn't happen" bin.
6. How many times have we said short hair and no boobs dont fucking automatically gets us gendered correcly!! We have voices that have to be trained, we have muscles were expected to build, and some men even watch the way you walk to guess if you have a dick or not.
Listen to any trans men. any of us for five minutes. those things do not making an easily passing trans man fuck you for lying about our experiences as not a trans man.
7. "You gotta like have short hair or remove your boobs"
Untrue! just Untrue. we also have to preform the rules of manhood really well. ive seen beareded transmen clocked for like so many different other reasons and you wouldn't listen to those men if it would save all trans people lives forever. cis men constantly dig at other men presentation to keep each other in line. Its a regular for them.
Also: not all of want to pass with those features. I deserve to have long hair and not bind and still pass as a man and you suck for defining everything around passing.
8. I don't know why you insist on this idea that trans women never really pass without obscene work (when ive met trans women that admit they have it easy by throwing on a dress and wearing her hair down) and that all trans men who have ascess to transition magically do pass (When multiple of us transitioning have said we dont)
If we can't talk about the ones who don't pass then you kinda can just sweep away the idea we don't face discrimination or danger and that's getting us killed actually.
None of us have said we can all never really pass any who say they can't are usually speaking on their own experiences. Because you want us all to pass so bad you don't care that we don't, and that it gets us backlash and hurt.
Also, if you ever read this, kiss my black ass and go reevaluate what makes you think you should speak on experiences that aint yours as if you're the one with the Hard Cold Facts.

ok wait do the girls have pets? like does bunny reader have a bunny… idk if they would all match up perfectly but i’m curious! (ps i love love love your acct you’ve given me so much inspo to start writing regularly again!!) <333
aww thts so sweet thank u !! 🎀
i can definitely see bunny with a fluffy white bunny of her own. she loves it so much and even takes it places with her if she can just because it’s her pride and joy. probably the bane of rafes existence because she makes him go and pick up hay from the store or do the gross stuff like clean out the shit. he’ll do it but everytime lecture her like “this is the last time m’doing this shit for you, alright? you want a pet, you gotta be responsible for lookin’ after it okay— gotta learn some accountability at some point.” but he is definitely gonna do it again.
i can see kitty having a pet snake or something. jj tries to be cool about it but he literally is terrified and will dive 6 ft in the air if he sees it out of its enclosure…..
puppy, funnily enough doesn’t have any pets at the moment despite working in the pet store and loving animals. she loves them, but no one really trusts her to have her own 😭 john b had to watch her keep buying pet fish and then they kept dying and she’d get really upset and buy more and then those would die too so he would have to ban her .
deer has like 5 cats, huge fluffy ones — one is blind, one is missing a leg, one has behaviour problems, one has a split ear, one is deaf. they’re all rescues and she loves them sm

The Neighbor Across the Street pt. 2
Mike Schmidt x Babysitter!f!Reader
part 1, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6
wc: 1.9k
warnings: none! fluff, hurt/comfort if u squint, tiny age gap (as always, lmk if there’s anything i’ve missed)
summary: the neighbor across the street needs a babysitter, so you take the job, not knowing what’s in store for you as you grow closer to the siblings.
quick note, AU where nothing bad happens at the pizzeria, so we r diverging from that storyline slightly. more info to come next part :) happy reading!
——————————————————————————
“Mike! Y/n is here!” Abby shouted through the house.
You had just walked through the front door of the Schmidt house. You had been Abby’s babysitter for just over a month now, but tonight was different. It was going to be your first night shift. Mike had just started a new security gig where he had to work a few nights each week.
So far, it’s been great babysitting Abby. The two of you have grown closer, doing more and more activities together. It rarely felt like work babysitting Abby. Becoming closer to Abby meant you were also, slowly but surely, growing closer to Mike.
You were hanging up your jacket on the coat hanger next to the door, looking up just in time to see Mike standing in the hallway in front of you. He had his usual attire on: some kind of long sleeved shirt with a jacket, a pair of jeans, and some old tennis shoes. But this time, a vest sporting the phrase “security” was worn over his jacket.
“Nice halloween costume.” you said sarcastically, holding in a small laugh.
“Don’t judge.” he said sighing, rolling his eyes. “Only I can hate it.”
“I’m just messing with you. You give that vest character.” you said, playfully pushing his shoulder as you walked past each other. You headed over to Abby as she sat at the dinner table, pushing her food around on her plate. “What’s up Abs?”
“Nothing. Can you tell Mike to stop making this stuff? It sucks.” she said looking up at you.
“Thanks for the feedback, next time I’ll leave dinner all up to you.” he said as he grabbed his keys and backpack. The young girl rolled her eyes, sticking her tongue out at him when his back was turned. You pulled a chair to sit with Abby at the table when Mike walked over.
“You gonna be okay tonight?” Mike asked you, he placed his hands on the backs of the chairs. This was probably the 20th time he asked you this. He knew nights weren’t what you signed up for, but you were flexible and didn’t mind the change of plans.
“Yes, I promise. My parents are just across the street if we need anything.” you said with a smile.
“Alright, my phone number’s on the fridge if you need anything.” If only you knew I already had it memorized. “Abs you gotta be in bed by 9:30, you understand? You have school in the morning. Don’t give y/n a hard time.” Mike said as he ruffled Abby’s hair, kissing her head.
“Sounds like a plan.” you said, looking at Mike as he headed towards the door. “See you in the morning.”
He looked at you one last time before saying his goodbyes, shutting the door behind him. It wasn’t long before Abby had her first activity recommendation of the night.
“Can we have a movie night before bed?” she asked you. You decided to donate some of your old favorite movies to the siblings, giving Abby a whole new array of movies to choose from.
“Sure, what do you have in mind?” you asked.
“The Little Mermaid!” she squealed.
The two of you made some popcorn, even allowing Abby a cup of her favorite soda, before settling down with some cozy blankets and pillows for your movie night. You watched as the girl sat in awe at the film playing before her eyes.
You always hoped to see the day a young child’s eyes would light up from experiencing your favorite films from your childhood. You never thought that feeling would’ve come from seeing Abby experience the magic for the first time.
You both sat watching the film intently, occasionally throwing a handful of popcorn into your mouths.
“Do you ever wish you’ll find a prince like Ariel?” Abby randomly blurted out.
“Yeah, I think it would be nice.” you said, not giving much thought to the silly question. Abby often asked questions like these. “Do you?”
“I don’t think so. I’m too little.” she scrunched her nose.
“Good answer.” you said with a small laugh.
You turned your attention back to the movie, taking a sip of your drink.
“I think Mike’s still waiting for his princess.” the young girl blurted out again. This time, it caught you off guard.
“Yeah?” you asked, choking on your soda a bit.
“He’s always so sad and tired. Maybe a princess would cheer him up.”
“What kind of princess do you think he would like?”
“Someone to make him laugh. Someone who gives him a big hug when he is sad. Someone who makes better mac and cheese than he does.”
You smiled at the girl listening to her list off all of the qualifications.
“That sounds like the perfect princess Abs.”
“You would be a good princess for Mike.” she blurted yet again, eyes still on the screen, catching you off guard once more.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” you said, feeling your face warm up. You thought about that comment the rest of the night.
You somehow managed to get Abby to bed at 10, which isn’t bad considering how much she loves talking and playing with you. She went down fairly quickly, giving you the rest of the night to yourself.
You flipped through the channels on the TV, trying to stay awake, also trying not to think about Abby’s comment earlier. “You would be a good princess for Mike.” Ultimately, you failed, falling asleep to the sound of the 12am news.
At around 4:30am, you heard the sound of shuffling at the door, sitting up groggily to see what the fuss was. The door quietly opened and you heard the sound of a backpack hit the floor.
“I’m so sorry, did I wake you up?” Mike whispered.
“No it’s all good. I just kind of woke up on my own.” you replied, half lying, with a small yawn. “I tried to stay awake but the TV line up in the middle of the night isn’t fantastic.”
“You’re fine, y/n. You deserve rest while you’re on the job. You have class tomorrow anyways.” he said as he went to sit on the recliner next to the couch you laid on. You both sat in silence for a minute or two, it felt like forever. “How’d Abby do?”
“Great as always.” you said rubbing the sleepiness out of your eyes. “We watched a movie, I might’ve given her a soda. She went to bed at around 10, but I don’t blame her I was her age once too.”
“That’s good. No problems?”
“When has there ever been any problems, Mike.” you said with a chuckle. More silence filled the air.
“Y/n?”
“Yeah?”
He thought for a moment, hesitating before he spoke up. “Thank you for all you do for us. I’ve really seen a change in Abby lately and there’s no doubt you are a big part of that.”
“Of course.” you said with a smile. “Abby’s a great kid.”
“You know things haven’t been easy.” he said with a sigh. “I think you bring just a little more happiness in her life – in our lives.”
You looked at him for a moment, noticing his eyes like you did the first time you met him. They were still that shade of brown with the little green specks, but this time they were filled with sadness. He looked absolutely drained. He knew you noticed the hopelessness in the interaction.
“I’m sorry about that, didn’t mean to drop any of this on you.” he said looking down at his hands.
“Mike, it’s okay.” you said softly, reassuring him. You just honestly didn’t know what to say.
You stood up from your place on the couch, watching him sit up a little taller in his own chair.
“Come here.” you said quietly, surprised he even heard you.
He stood up, stepping towards you quietly not to wake up Abby with the creaky floorboards. Once he was right in front of you, you wrapped your arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. It took him a second until he also put his arms around you. You rested your head on his shoulder, breathing in the smell of his shirt. You guys just stood there for a minute, you waited until he let go. You knew he needed this. You knew all of those things Abby told you earlier were true.
He finally let go, taking a small step back as your hands rested on his shoulders.
“You guys are going to be okay. I’m here for both of you.” you said looking into his eyes.
“I promise I’ll have the money by the end of the week.” he said, attempting to change the subject.
“Don’t worry about the money. You worry about you and Abby, whenever you have the money will be okay.” you said as you removed your hands from his shoulders.
“Are you sure? You have things you need to take care of too. College tuition is enough to worry about.”
“It’s okay, Mike. I’ll be fine.” you said with a soft smile. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow, same time?”
“Yeah.” he said as you walked to the door grabbing your jacket. He followed behind. “Thanks again.”
He pulled you in for another quick hug, before you opened the door, waved bye, and began walking home. He stayed at the door until you safely crossed the street, like he always does, before closing it.
That morning, Abby had a lot to say about her movie night with you to Mike.
“She let me have soda before bed, Mike!” Abby exclaimed while she took a bite of her toast. “And we watched The Little Mermaid, and I asked her if she ever wished she had a prince like Ariel.”
“You know y/n is busy Abs. She has lots of homework, she doesn’t have time for princes.” Mike told his sister as he flipped through some mail. It was true though, some days you would end up doing homework during most of your time babysitting.
“She said it would be nice, then I told her that you definitely need a princess, and I told her that your princess needs to be funny and–“
“Alright Abby I think it’s time for you to go to school now.” Mike said, quickly interrupting her before she could say anymore.
“What?” she questioned him.
“Nothing.” he said standing up to grab his keys, avoiding looking at his little sister.
“I knew it! You have a crush on Y/n!” she said with a gasp.
“I do not, Abs.”
“I won’t tell her, I’ll keep it a secret, I promise!”
“Abs, I don’t have a crush on anyone. People don’t have crushes when they’re adults.”
“You’re blushing, Mike.” she said giggling as she ran to grab her backpack. When she returned, Mike was just heading out the door. Abby picked up her shoes, walking out of the door behind him.
As the pair walked to Mike’s extremely worn out Honda Accord, it just so happened you were also heading to your car just across the street. Abby took notice of this quickly, making sure not to miss this moment to embarrass her brother even more. It’s what little sisters do.
“Hey Y/n!” she shouted, making sure to drag out the ending super long.
“Hey Abby!” you shouted back. “Have a good day at school!”
“Mike say hi.” Abby said to her brother.
“Abby.” he said back, trying to end the conversation as quickly as possible.
“Say it now or I’ll tell Y/n you have a crush on her.”
He gave you a small wave and a smile as he unlocked the doors.
“See you guys tonight!” you said happily as you got in your car.
“You so have a crush on Y/n.” Abby said one last time, grinning, just for good measure.

Based on something in my notes app (copy and pasted too but edited to make sense) maybe oc Jay? Idk
you and Jason had became friends when you were on the streets, helping each other when needed and also just being there for each other. When he became robin, with #BruceWayneBenifits, he was able to help you more. Often letting you have sleepovers at the manor and hanging out. You both grow to have feeling for each other, and you were planning on telling him on his birthday or sum, but he died. So you never find out if he felt the same way or not (he does)
Time skip (5? Possibly 6 even?) Years later when Jason comes back alive and is less vengeful of his death, Jason frequently goes to old book stores to find good books to read. He goes to one frequently and the vibe felt off that day.
He thinks there might be a threat and keeps a good eye on everything. While browsing; surprise, surprise, you are there. Standing somewhat next to him. You obviously don't recognize him right away or at all from how different he looks. You're trying to find a specific book that a friend had recommended and just so happen to get closer to Jason little by little. (You have social anxiety)
You don't want to get to close to this person because of personal space and well, he's huge. Handsome looking, but huge, and a lot of scars. Which was kinda a hot look on him. You steal a few glances at him, hoping he wouldn't notice.
Jason does notice, since the Pit heightened his senses. (I think? I read it from somewhere that it did 🤷‍♀️) He finally looks over at you, expecting you to just be a normal Gothamite who is just scared of his size; when he freezes for a second. Recognizing the your hair and style almost immediately. He thinks he's hallucinating. There no way it was you.
You notice that he was looking at you and you almost shy at his gaze. Mumbling a sorry and returning your gaze to the books in front of you, but knowing that the book you're looking for is probably right in front of the man.
Jason panics a lot in the inside. Do you recognize him? Do you hate him? Are you afraid of him? He's you jaybird, why you'd you be afraid?
You mentally punch yourself and raised your voice a bit, taking a breath.
U: "I think that book I'm looking for is by you. Can I look?"
Oh my god, he's going to say no-
J: "Sure, that's fine."
God, if you could faint, you would. Not only looks handsome, but sounds handsome.
Jason on the other hand let's put a mental and physical sigh of relief, now thinking that you probably don't even recognize him. It saddens him a little at that thought but it was better, way better than having you scared of him.
He scoots over and you scoot closer, looking over more books until your predictions were right and the book you were looking for was right by where he was standing. You mutter a thank you and move so he can continue looking in the spot he was in.
He doesn't even register that you were moving away because he was so enchanted by you. you had grown up and matured. And damn did you look good. A lot better than he did in his opinion.
J: "I-uh, have me met before?"
Jason asked. 'Great going, idiot. All the romance novels you've read and that's what you come up with?' He thinks to himself.
U: "..I don't think so? What's your name?"
He's sweating bullets now. What does he say? Does he sat jason or use a fake name?
"Jason"
You've met many Jason's so you don't think about it. But there seems to be a familiar aura to him. But you can't put a finger on it. It's going to eat you up later but you put the thought to the side for now. Out of habit you stuck your hand out in a polite way.
"(Name)"
Jason almost said "I know" but bite his tongue and nodded, reaching out to shake you hand. Jesus, you hand fit so well with his. So warm and welcoming.
you and Jason talk for a bit more, it was awkward but it worked. You ended up switching numbers for "book recommendations". But you both were giggling like school girl in the inside because of it.
Over several months, you got to know Jason. And he reminded you a lot of Jason, your dead friend and crush. It saddened you a bit but you decided to not dwell on the past so much. You'll just visit his grave soon, again.
It wasn't long before Dick encouraged Jason to ask you on a date. Well, going out for coffee/fav drink bev and talk about books. You agreed and you did the date.
You had a great time. It was slightly awkward but it was just like all the other hang outs, but more special.
Jason asks you what your life is like because he wants to know what your life has been like since he was gone. He had asked before during those mothes about resent stuff, but he wanted to know more, like high-school years and such.
Boring, you said. Mostly the same thing over and over again. You told some funny stories and it made Jason want to genuinely smile. He makes up a few things to not have to talk about the Pit or dying. Or being Red Hood.
You go on a few more dates and finally, he takes you on a fancy one. (Using Bruce's card ofc)
You initially declined going on a fancy date, not really having the money or outfits for it but jason insisted and said he'd had one of his friends to go with for shopping if you needed it. (Steph or Cass idk, some fem friend he has.)
You ended up going shopping with his friend and got a nice dress.
You go on the fancy date and had a great time as always, a bit panic on the bill but jason pays for it all. He's a true gentleman for you and only you.
At this point, your bf and gf
I think jason would wait for about a year, you make sure things are secured and there is a lot of trust in the friendship/relationship before dropping hints that he is your not-so-dead best friend. He just wants you to know that he is back :(
One night, trying to sleep, it clicks for you. You immediately go to his apartment and knock on the door. He thanks whoever runs his life for the great full night of not patrolling that night and answers the door. You have tears going down your face and look puffy. He panics and asks if you're alright. You look at him with a confused but surprised lookin your face
U: "Jason Todd? ... Jaybird?"
He also has a look of shock on his face, happy that you finally got it but also scared of your reaction.
J: "... ... yeah. It's me."
U: "Oh my god..."
You stare at each other for about a solid minute and you break down, crying, hands to your face. He panics more and freezes, not knowing if they were good or bad tears. You reached out and hugged him tight. Feeling his out grown and bigger frame in your arms. You finally have your best friend back. And your dating him. You love him. And you know he loves you. All of your dreams have finally come true. Obv not financial ones but wvr.
It ends up with you cuddling jason on his bed or sum. idk.
Kinda long ngl, I have a good grasp of what his character is like but I may have a few things wrong. Pls tell me if something is ooc, I'd probably fix it or sum 🫶🏻😭

Hearing what Kazui said made her completely stop. Mama? Why would he think that? Was it because she takes care of him like her own child?
“K-Kazuki. I don't think that's something possible.” Ms. Y/n said washing her hands before she approach the now pouting Kazui.
“Why not?” Kazui said, now tearing up. “My classmates have a mama. Why I don't have one? Why can't I have one?” he was now sobbing.
Seeing his tears pour breaks her heart. Ms. Y/n dreamt of having her own child, but because of how life can be challenging, how she can't afford to buy her own house or a decent permanent job, she set her dream aside and focus on trying to make it at least to the cruel world.
But nothing is crueler to a child not having a mother wanting to have one.
“Shh.” Ms. Y/n carried and embrace Kazui who was sobbing in her arms. “I’m sorry, Kazui.”
Then it suddenly went quiet. Ms. Y/n was still holding Kazui in her arms.
“Kazui?” Ms. Y/n called out, but get no response. When she slowly made her way to a mirror, she saw him fast asleep. She looked at him for a moment, sad that she couldn’t do anything for Kazui. It took a while for her to bring him up to her bedroom and tucked him in, caressing his cheek that was stained from his tears.
Ms. Y/n then left her bedroom. She decided to keep the door open in case she heard him wake up. She strides down the stair and went back to the kitchen where she left some of the burger steaks she molded. As soon as she washed her hands again to proceed, she saw her phone lit up causing her to look at it. When she saw the unknown number, she slightly frowns. But when she clicked on the message, she blinked in surprise.
It was Mr. Bakugou.
..
Once Katsuki settled in his car, he placed a bag beside him. A thank-you gift for Kazui’s teacher.
Giving anyone a gift isn't his thing, but Ms. Y/n's kind gesture made him want to. This is the least he could do to show her he appreciates what she does.
And so, Katsuki turned on the engine when he received the address he needed and drove his way to the said address. seeing he was nearing the address, he noticed it was close to the school. After just a few minutes of walking, for sure they'd reach it.
He remembered Ms. Y/n telling him there was a near convenience store and taking a right turn. As soon as he turned right, he immediately saw her apartment and slowed down. Once closed, he pulled up but didn't leave his car.
Katsuki is nervous. He didn't know how to approach her. His palms are sweating, and so was his forehead, and believe it or not? This was pissing him off. So with all the courage he has. Wait? Why does he need courage for this? He's just going to pick Kazui and hand his gift to her.
That’s fucking it.
Katsuki groan, starting to get frustrated. Without thinking, he grab the bag beside him and exited his car, slamming the door shut behind him.
Ms. Y/n heard this, making her jump and slightly spilling the hamburger steak sauce. “What was that..” She mumbled to herself and wiped her sauce-filled hand.
She made her way to her apartment door even though she knows it was a bad idea. But curiosity got in her and grab the doorknob, twisted it, and pulled the door open. She comes face-to-face with Mr. Bakugou who has his hand raised, about to knock.
“U-uh. Good evening! Mr. Bakugou!” She slightly stuttered. “Please come in!”
Seeing him in an awkward position made katsuki's face turn slightly pink, all the way to his ears. “Ahem. Thanks.” He said in a quiet voice.
Ms. Y/n closed the door behind her as soon as Katsuki get in. “I'm sorry about the mess. I have a lot of papers to work on.” She said sweating dropped when she saw him eye the papers stacked on her coffee table. “Please have a seat.” She added as she collect all the papers and headed to her bedroom.
When she came back, she made her way to the kitchen switched the fire off on her stove, and saw Katsuki sitting on the sofa. “Make yourself at home.” She smiled. “You might be looking for Kazui, he’s currently sleeping in my bedroom.”
Ms. Y/n opened one of the kitchen cabinets and grab two glasses. She then grabs a drink and pours the content into the glass.
Katsuki was quiet even though he can hear her talking . He was checking her apartment which was neat, and organized, with no dust in sight. Except for the stack he saw earlier, which was now gone.
Her apartment was indeed small, like what Kazui said. But she made it look homey. Unlike his quiet home. Even though he has all those branded furniture and expensive stuff. Never in a while, had he felt his house homey. But he, sitting in someone’s home? Knowing that Y/n is living alone, single-
Wait, was she single?
Katsuki’s thoughts about her apartment suddenly vanish. I mean, was she by herself?
Getting inquisitive, he looks for a sign of another person living with her. A male person. But all he saw was what a single woman has.
How old was she again? 23? Right. She’s too young and still unraveling her future.
Well, age doesn’t matter to him.
What? The fuck was he thinking? Why would he think that?
Katsuki internally smacks himself in the face. He’s not looking for any relationship right now. After what happened. He’s too scared to try again.
“Here. Seems like you're deep in thought.”
Katsuki blinked being cut off and saw Ms. Y/n place a cup of tea in front of him.
“Thank you.” He said.
Why was he being quiet anyway?
“You’re welcome.” Ms. Y/n smiled at him. “I actually poured you an orange juice and was about to give it to you but it seems like you're stressed. So I made you some tea. I hope you don't mind camomile?” She giggled and went back to the kitchen.
“It’s fine,” Katsuki said. “Where’s Kazui?”
Ms. Y/n blinked. Didn't she say he’s asleep? Maybe Mr. Bakugou was too deep in thought that he wasn't listening to everything you said.
“He’s sleeping in my bedroom.” You chuckled making Katsuki look at you raising an eyebrow which made you panic and immediately apologize.
“Why're you apologizing?” Katsuki asked and gently gran the tea in front of him. The aroma made him relax.
“I was being rude.” Ms. Y/n smiled nervously.
She’s always smiling.
"You're not," Katsuki said and took a sip.
Ms. Y/n only smiled before going back to her kitchen and preparing the plates needed. "Have you had your dinner, Mr. Bakugou?" You asked.
As if on cue, Katsuki's stomach started making a sound making him blush and her, giggle.
"I'll take that as a no." You said. "I made Hamburger steak. Kazui requested it."
"Hah? I swear to god that spoiled ass brat." Katsuki said, this time, out loud.
"Would you want a plate, Mr-
"Just call me Bakugou. I hate this formality and such. It's fucking pissing me off." Katsuki said as he placed the teacup back on the coffee table.
This doesn't surprise you anymore. Why? Because there are times Y/n watches television in her free time and saw how Dynamight swears a lot. Even civilians got used to this.
"Alright, Bakugou." Ms. Y/n chuckled and just prepare another plate for him. "You can go wake Kazui so we can all eat. The more the merrier right?"
"Don't order me around." Katsuki tsked but follow otherwise.
He heard a low sorry when he walked past the kitchen and straight to her bedroom where he saw the door wide open. He was about to go straight inside but he stopped midway. He's trespassing on her privacy. But she was the one who gave him permission, plus, he's only waking Kazui up, so it doesn't matter. So he continued and went straight into her bedroom and saw a double-sized bed where he saw Kazui sleeping peacefully.
"Oi." Katsuki called but got no reponse. "Brat. Wake up. We're going to eat dinner."
Seeing his son won't wake up anytime soon, he picks him up and carries him in his arms. "Kazui, wake up. Ms. Y/n made us dinner. You spoiled brat."
Kazui lightly stirred in his father's arms before completely waking up, and rubbing his eyes. "Papa," he mumbled.
Katsuki only watched his son.
"Where's mama.." Kazui yawned and snuggled back into his arms.
Katsuki was frozen in his place. Shocked, confused, angry? He doesn't know what to feel when he once again heard his son looking for his mother.
"Why are you looking for her?" Katsuki asked, hoping he would get a response despite knowing how drowsy his son is.
"Mama Y/n.."

Menace to Society
Summary: You met the infamous Damian Wayne and neither of you are impressed. Content: Jon Kent mentioned, kinda derailed... I'm sorry, Could also be kind of read as Jon Kent x Reader too, but it's meant to be Damian Wayne x Reader..., Fem! Reader Taglist: N/a
[Pt II?]
[--- : Three Dashes is flashback] [---: 2nd Three Dashes is back to the present] [--: Two Dashes is Time Skip]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You had heard the rumors about the Wayne boy, but you didn't pay it much mind. You never thought you encounter him, so it didn't seem productive to think about him. Besides you had bigger problems; Like the fact you lived in fucking Gotham City, the most dangerous city in America. Oh, to have been born to a family in Metropolis is a dream you wish for every night, hoping to wake from this damn nightmare.
The rumors varied, depending on who was telling them. Some say he was incredibly handsome, just like his father- Others said he was a rotten guy who knew no empathy or compassion for another human being. You were leaning towards the latter, because he was a rich boy, who had never known a day of poverty, of course he'd be a stuck up bastard. Though, you didn't blame him, you were sure he was enabled.
You found it weird when you'd defend the boy's actions. It could have just been because you didn't know him and felt less biased. That was until you met the asshole.
He was worse than anyone had ever described. He was literally the child of hell. He was entitled, selfish, egotistical and narcissistic. He was your worse nightmare.
He didn't like you either. You were such an annoyance to him. Granted, most people annoyed him, but you were different. It's like you were a chigger [What are Chiggers?] digging into his skin and chewing on his flesh. Not to mention it seemed you were a pest on his life. He just couldn't get rid of you no matter how hard he tried.
The crazy thing is you were rarely around ech other, but when you are it feels like eternity. You felt like you were constantly competing with a spoiled brat and he felt like you were an annoying pest trying to push him to the side.
The thing is you were too similar to each other. At least that's what Jon thought. You remembered the first time you met Jon and he made the comparison.
---
You pushed through the crowds, before getting off the train. You sighed when looking around of the city of Metropolis. It was just a small trip, because your father needed some things from the city, that weren't in Gotham, but he was to busy, so he asked you to do it. You weren't going to get distracted.
--
You looked through the multiple vinyls. There were dozens of books on the shelves around you that you had already scoured. Your eyes were lead up to the top shelf of one of the bookcase, before your eyes caught a big black clock. It said 5:45- Your father wanted you home at 6...
You were never going to be allowed out again.
You rushed through the store, trying to catch your barings, but just your luck, you run into a man. You quickly apologize before standing u, brushing yourself off and picking up your things. You look down at him- He... looked different than guys in Gotham.
You wondered if it was something in the water, because the boys in Metropolis looked more... alive? They looked like the type that haven't had evil wrap it's nasty smoke around them since the day they were born. They were carefree and happy. How nice.
He looked up at you with baby blue eyes, before a light pink dusted his cheeks. He had a school-boyish charm. He looks at your hand that you had out for him, before he takes it.
"I'm Jon," He grips your tightly as he looks down at you. He was incredibly tall and you didn't realize it until he stood up.
"Y/n..." You say, trying to take your hand back but he has a tight grip on you. "Um.. Can I have my hand back?"
He blushes a darker red, before letting go of your hand and apologizing. He rubs the back of his neck, looking away from you. "So, are you new to Metropolis?"
"Uh... No- I mean I guess, but I don't like here. I'm just getting stuff for my dad."
"Oh, uh-"
Before he can finish his statement, the shop keeper comes out and starts yelling at you about having to pay. You looked at him confused before realizing that you still had the vinyl in your hands. You blushed darkly, realizing this guy probably thought you were a thief and you wanted to shoot yourself.
You apologized to the man, before handing him the vinyl, telling him you didn't mean to take it, your mind just went blank when realizing the time. Thankfully, the store keeper was understanding and took the vinyl before going back inside.
There were a few minutes of silence, before the guy- Jon- starts laughing. "Gosh, he was so mad, his face looked like a tomato."
You smile, nodding, "Yeah, he was, wasn't he?"
Jon opens his mouth to speak, but then your phone starts ringing and you freeze up. You pull your phone out of your pocket and sigh when seeing your father's number.
"Sorry, I have to take this-" You take a few steps way from him, before answering the phone.
"Y/n were are you?"
"I'm still in Metropolis-"
"What? Why are you still there?"
"I got... distracted?"
You hear a sigh and groan, causing you to frown.
"Get home as soon as you can."
"Okay," You hang up the phone, before sighing. You were just happy he didn't yell at you through the screen.
"Are you in trouble?"
You jumped a little before looking back at Jon. You forgot that he was there.
"Uh... No, not really... But I do have to get back home."
"I can take you! I mean, I can walk with you... You know," He gestures to you, not knowing what to say. "I mean," He quickly shakes his head and hands, "Not that you can't take care of yourself, but it'd be really shitty if I let you walk alone."
You smirk, looking the boy up and down. He would never last a second in Gotham. "I'm sure I'll be fine. Besides, I don't think you want to go where I'm going."
"Well where are you going?"
--
Jon is starting to regret his offer. Not because of you, but because of the people who were squished against him. The subway smelled awful, like death and piss, and made him scrunch his nose. You were pressed against his chest, hoping the next stop was your stop.
"You know, I have a friend in Gotham. He's a lot like you-"
"I'm like a guy?" You joke, causing him to blush and quickly back track.
"No- No. I mean, you're like him in the way you act. But, you're nicer."
"Yeah? What's his name?"
"Damian Wayne."
---
You groaned, trying to ignore the laughter of the gangs that you had to pass. You could feel their stares go through you as you try and walk away as fast as possible. Your fear rose when hearing footsteps behind you.
Don't look back. Don't look back. Don't look back.
You hear a flop and a groan and stupidily look back. On top of the man who was following you was The Robin- Well, not 'THE' Robin, but one of them... The new one.
Robin's eyes go up to you, before they widen for a second.
"Y/n?"
"Do I know you?"
Before he could back track, you hear some fabric flap[?] and look back to see THE Batman. He was tall and incredibly intimidating.
"You should probably go home, kid."
"Yeah." You look back at Robin, before back at Batman. "Yeah, I will."

lyragray headcannons
okay!!
LYRA X GRAYSON HEADCANONS:
• once they started dating publicly, so many jewelry stores wanted to do gold vs silver photoshoots on them because they both contrast the colours so well (lyra with gold and gray with silver) + it would give the stores more popularity
• they can both sing very well
• the only time that lyra doesn’t have nightmares about her father shooting himself is when she’s sleeping with grayson <33
• they love going out for coffee dates but also make fun of each others coffee order (lyra believes that black coffee are way too bitter, and grayson believes that lattes are too sweet)
• grayson doesn’t like when anybody plays with his hair, but lets it slide when it’s lyra
• paparazzi have seen them getting back from fancy events/parties with grayson holding her heels and lyra wearing his suit jacket when it gets cold 💗💗 (also he totally picks her up and just carry’s her when she has her heels off tell me im wrong)
• lyra and grayson both have sweet tooth’s but only really for chocolate, so for movie nights they have chocolate desserts
• once they got stuck in a supply’s closet at some event because they wanted to go find a private place to make out, and when oren found them and got them out his brothers + avery made fun of grayson RELENTLESSLY
• not lyra though because she’s too scary (yes they’re scared of lyra but not grayson)
• grayson has started adapting lyra’s sleep routine so instead of him waking up at like 5, he’s started waking up at 6-6:30 instead (which lyra still thinks is so weird since she wakes up at like 8-8:30 every day and even later on weekends)
• but sometimes she refuses to let go of him and makes him stay in bed with her for a little longer, just so she can see him more in the morning
• lyra’s more of a dog person than a cat person whereas grayson’s more of a cat person than a dog person (still they both adore tiramisu)
• speaking of tiramisu, she’s started coming to lyra and graysons bed instead of xanders and xander sees it as betrayal
okay thats all i hope u like it!! 💗

I typically have a pretty healthy respect for farmers and their work, especially having lived on and worked on many different farms growing up. I've woken up at 4am to milk cows, feed chickens, chop wood. I've pulled more weeds than you can imagine, tilled rows, and run out in hailstorms to protect crops. But I can't seem to dredge up a drop of respect for the farms around where I live these days. Because these guys don't actually do anything, and yet have a serious attitude about how much of better a person they are because they 'work hard' and 'kids these days don't wanna work' yadda yadda. They've convinced themselves and everyone around them that they work like people used to work on farms. In the field, backs bent, heavy lifting, etc. Except, you know, they don't. Everything is mechanized, and more than half of the year is spent doing nothing at all while the potatoes grow/over the winter. Every step of the planting, watering, spraying, harvesting, and storing process is run by a machine. The tractors don't even need them to direct them for most of the process. I've watched these guys fart around on their phones and pick their noses for 6 hours as the tractor goes back and forth, only waking up enough to turn the thing at the end of the row. For what isn't mechanized, (kale) they hire migrant workers to do the actual work. Meanwhile, these guys drive around in their un-used-for-anything-but-driving pickup trucks, yelling about migrant (non-white) workers and people asking for 'handouts'. Ironic, of course, because every single farm up here gets massive 'handout' from the government for multiple claims of u w u growing pwoblems. These same people will pick apart every single thing that you do 'wrong' because you don't do it the way they do it. (Like have a giant bulldozer to clear their driveway vs a small snow blower) If that wasn't enough, these aren't the neighbors that I grew up with. These same people have the ability to help others, and won't. They pull up to you after 5 months of grueling shoveling and clearing the driveway of snow and say, "Oh we could have done that for you for $40." And then never offer to do it next year. They'll stand outside and crack jokes about how our house is going to burn down because of how we set up the pellet stove, but not offer advice. They'll happily run their generators and settle in during the bomb cyclone that turned off the power for over a week at -60º and not even question if they should check on anyone living around them. They're greedy, selfish, lazy, cruel people and they say the kids are the problem?

Tips For Baking While Disabled :) <3
1. do stuff the “wrong” way [pt: do stuff the “wrong” way]
- my number one tip for literally everything is to do it the “wrong” way if that is the way that will make it accessible to you
- sit down while you prepare stuff. use a machine to knead your bread if it’s too hard on your hands. take as many breaks as you need. use disposable items like parchment paper, foil pans, and paper plates if washing dishes is too much. make things work for you however you need to
2. question everything [pt: question everything]
- if you have the spoons & the brain power, plan ahead & question what the recipe says you have to do
- do you really have to flour the counter & make an extra mess just to knead dough, or can you knead it in the bowl instead? do you really have to use an extra dish for this step?
- there’s lots of things like that that recipes will state as fact that can be adjusted to save you some effort
3. if possible, recruit help [pt: if possible, recruit help]
- i have a bunch of younger siblings who will almost always jump at the chance to help me bake stuff
- see if u can find a family member/friend/housemate/caregiver etc who is willing (maybe even excited!!) to split the baking workload with you
- it fr makes it so much easier even just to have someone who will help you whisk together your ingredients or grab something you’ve forgotten to spare you the effort of moving across the kitchen
4. lay out everything you’ll need ahead of time [pt: lay out everything you’ll need ahead of time]
- this includes all the dishes, utensils, and ingredients you’re going to use for the recipe
- this helps soooo much with my combination of adhd + brain fog problems (aka forgetting things and getting distracted constantly)
- i like to make a designated area (e.g., on the stove or on a separate part of the counter) to immediately put what i’ve used so I know that i’ve used it; this ensures that I don’t add something twice & that i don’t miss any ingredients
- it also makes less moving around in the moment/less getting up & down ! a godsend fr
5. take advantage of built-in resting times [pt: take advantage of built-in resting times]
- when stuff is in the oven, sit or lay down !! it’s free resting time !! pleaseee take advantage of it
6. make cleanup as easy as possible [pt: make cleanup as easy as possible]
- i like to put something under my workspace (bath towel, tablecloth, paper towels, etc) so that when i inevitably spill something, i can just pick it up and shake it off instead of having to scrub my counters
- if you can spare the spoons, scrape off and rinse out the dishes you used so nothing gets hardened & caked on
- fill everythingggg with hot water and leave it in the sink for later!! don’t push yourself too hard & try to do dishes right away; the hot water will make it so much easier for later & you’ll get a chance to rest
7. you don’t have to do everything from scratch [pt: you don’t have to do everything from scratch]
- baking something from a box is still baking!! boxed is good & will help you save spoons but still scratch that baking itch
- you can make just one element of your baking & buy another - e.g., buy pre-made pie crusts and make the filling yourself
- buy pre-chopped/frozen fruits for crumbles and tarts, buy pre-made frosting for the cake you bake, grab some cookie dough from the store and throw it in the oven !!
8. experiment & adjust [pt: experiment & adjust]
- find what works for you & what doesn’t. figure out what recipes you can do & what ones you can’t. see how much effort you’re physically & mentally able to put into baking (without overtaxing yourself!) & take that into consideration for the next time(s) you bake.
- i highly recommend writing down the stuff you figure out - it helps me to both remember & stick to my limits & saves me from pushing myself too hard
(some misc stuff under the cut bc this is so long)
a few things to invest in if you can:
1. kitchen stool [pt: kitchen stool]
- if you’re like me and have Shitty Legs, this means so much less standing & has been a lifesaver for me tbh
2. hand mixer and/or stand mixer [pt: hand mixer and/or stand mixer]
- if you have the strength to both hold up a hand mixer for up to five minutes at time, and to sit up while you do it, they’re almost always the cheaper option, and they take up less storage space. if not, the stand mixer likely will be more expensive & will take up more counter space/storage space, but will be a lot more worth it for you
- check ebay or local online markets for secondhand ones if you can’t afford new ones - I found a used but perfectly good stand mixer for $30 !
3. latex/rubber gloves [pt: latex/rubber gloves]
- makes cleanup so much easier (especially if you have a hard time with hygiene, e.g. bathing or washing hands, extra especially with stuff like batter or dough that can be harder to get off, or with bad textures that will be on your hands)
- reusable ones you can drop in some water and clean off later if you don’t have spoons to do cleanup right away, and disposable can just go in the trash
4. boxed mixes [pt: boxed mixes]
- you’re still baking even if it’s not entirely from scratch!! boxed mixes mean fewer ingredients & steps, and shorter amounts of time spent upright/moving around

big dumb jock tut
step 1: lift heavy, bro – don’t think, just lift
bro, dis still da most important part. lift heavy stuff erry day. no rest days, bro! no excuses. pick up heavy things, put ‘em down, repeat. simple.
jock lifts:
• bench prees: bro, da king of lifts. lay down, grab da big bar wit da weights on it, and push it up. don’t stop till ur chest feels like it’s on fire. big chest = alpha chest. boom.
• bicep curlz: grab sum heavy dumbellz, bro, and curl ‘em up to ur face. keep goin till ur arms feel like they gon fall off. big arms get all da respect, bro. curlz get da girlz, remember that.
• lat pulldownz: sit on da machine, bro, grab da bar, and pull dat thing down hard. feel dem wings growin on ur back. wings = dominance. don’t stop till ur back looks like u could fly away.
• legz (important now, bro): aight, bro, we gonna do sum squatz. grab da bar, put it on ur back, and squat down. do dis till ur legs feel like noodles, bro. big legz mean u can look good wearin da short shorts, plus u won’t fall over when ur chest gets too big. don’t skip leg day anymore, bro. trust me on dis.
• abs (gotta get da 6-pack, bro): do dem crunches, bro, like 100 at least. don’t stop till ur stomach feels like it’s about to explode. da 6-pack will come, just keep crunchin. it’s all about consistency, bro. plus, da ladies love da abs.
step 2: eat clean, bro – get shredded
bro, u can lift all day, but if u wanna be shredded, u gotta eat clean. no junk food, bro. clean food only, dat’s how u get shredded af.
simple bro diet:
• breakfast: 10 egg whites. no yolks, bro. da yellow stuff messes with da gains. and eat a banana, bro. bananas are good. den wash it down with a protein shake, always gotta have dat shake. protein is life.
• lunch: chicken, bro. lots of it. chicken is like da muscle food. maybe some rice if ur feelin’ fancy, but bro, rice is for marathon runners, not jock bros. and don’t forget another protein shake.
• dinner: more chicken, bro. chicken erry meal. or steak if u feel like it. steak is good too. maybe sum veggies like broccoli cuz broccoli makes u ripped, bro. i seen da big dudes eat it, so we eat it too. end da day wit another protein shake.
• before bed snack: big spoonful of peanut butta, bro. peanut butta got da good fats. plus, it’s delicious. wash it down wit another protein shake, bro. protein is errywhere.
step 3: look da part, bro – dress swole
u gotta dress like a jock bro if u wanna be one, bro. dat means tank tops, ripped sleeves, and da shortest shorts possible. show off da gains, bro.
bro style rules:
• tank tops: if ur tank top don’t show off ur nipz, it’s not tight enough, bro. show dem gains. u worked hard for ‘em.
• short shorts: since we do legs now, u gotta show ‘em off. da shorter da better, bro.
• backwards hat: always rock da hat backwards, bro. makes u look cool af, plus u can see urself flexin in da mirror better.
• sneakerz: just make sure they fresh, bro. u can’t roll into da gym lookin like a scrub. no sandals, bro. unless u got socks on, but dat looks dumb.
step 4: act like a jock bro – lifestyle moves
bein a jock bro ain’t just about liftin and eatin. it’s a way of life, bro. act like a jock bro errywhere u go.
bro rules to live by:
1. flex errywhere: if u see a mirror, bro, flex. don’t even think about it. just flex. people gotta know u swole. bathroom mirrors, car windows, store windows – all flex spots.
2. talk about liftin: u gotta talk about ur lifts erry convo. someone talkin about sumthin else? change it to how much u bench or how many reps u did yesterday, bro. lift talk = respect.
3. drink water from a gallon jug: u need a gallon jug of water, bro. carry it wit u errywhere. if u ain’t drinkin outta a gallon jug, people gon think u weak.
4. grunt loud at da gym: if u ain’t gruntin, u ain’t liftin hard enough, bro. da whole gym should hear u. u lift heavy, u grunt heavy. show ‘em who’s boss.
5. spot ur bros: always spot ur bro when he’s goin heavy. if he fails a rep, dat’s on u, bro. don’t let him down. bros always got each other’s backs.
conclusion: u got dis, bro
bro, if u do all dis, u gon be da biggest, most shredded jock bro in da world. just lift heavy, eat clean, drink protein shakes, and flex errywhere. it’s dat simple. don’t think too much, just do it. now go hit da gym, bro. let’s goooo!
