AHahaha yesss, I mean the elders just wanted to form an alliance, and neither clan really knew just how strong Fushiguro reader was as a toddler, so it was right to arrange a marriage for you.

As a child, Noritoshi didnt really care much for you, especially since he had battles of his own- being born to a mistress, being the heir of the clan because the head wife couldnt bear sons so, he has to deal with that.

But youre adorable and you grow on anyone, even the Zenin clan, so when toddler Fushiguro reader meets 9 year old Noritoshi, the latter only thinks of you as a spoiled brat at first. And why wouldnt he? Youre running around barefoot in the garden, dressed in sparkly pink hello kitty pjs with servants chasing after you, with Naoya screaming from the shed that he'll lock you up if he catches you grabbing his million dollar koi fish.

Noritoshi's disgust is quite understandable when you come upto him, hair disheveled, face sweaty, and you stick your muddy hand to his face.

"Hi! Im Y/n Fushiguro!" "ZENIN! Y/N ZENIN!" Naoya yells before dragging you away for training (Naoya didnt want you to meet your future husband).

As time goes on, Noritoshi would be sent to the Zenin estate on different errands (by this point, the Kamo clan has heard rumors of your powers and now want Noritoshi to go and woo you, which is a huge task since Noritoshi isnt someone who is able to express emotions, much less romantic ones). But even though he might not be able to express his emotions, doesnt mean his heart hasnt turned soft for you. Youre pollar opposite to him, loud, energetic, carefree- and yet Noritoshi cant help but feel that you... sort of complete him. Youre everything hes not and he likes that. Like 2 puzzle pieces that fit together, he completes you too. Hes quiet, calm, realistic- he brings peace to you, especially when youre mind gets overstimulated by- well, you.

How many times has it been that Noritoshi has stopped your panic attacks when you realised that your father Toji, wasnt coming back? How many times has Noristoshi had to pull you into his robes when your cursed energy started to lose control, risking himself just to calm you down and help you control it as his soft monotonous voice guided you through it?

And how many times has it been that Noritoshi would have his terrible day turned around with just you calling him "Nori!"? Or the times he'd be questioning his worth in the clan and all he needed was you to lean your head against his shoulder to feel like a million bucks? Noritoshi would be the type of man who people would think doesnt really care about love and marriage, when in reality, he just spent the entire night listening to you yap about your day, about Hello Kitty, about uncle Naoya, pausing in between to say "hmm, okay its getting late, we should sleep" only to suddenly remember a new topic to ramble on about. And youd think Noritoshi wanst listenting to you with the way hes staring at your face in awe, but really- he remembers every single word. You could quiz him. Its funny listening to man like him talk about Hello Kitty.

When the time comes for you two to actually get married, Naoya throws a fit, and surprisingly, the Zenin clan also doesnt want to marry you off to Kamo clan (or anyone). People opposing the marriage from your side would be the Zenin clan, the twins (who start telling you all the reasons why marriage is a trap and youd be dead in 2 days.), Gojo (he just chuckles and tells you not to worry because he wont let you be forced into marriage), Nanami (my man wholeheartedly believes youre being a victim of child marriage, BUT NOT ON HIS WATCH! GONNA KILL ANYONE WHO EVEN THINKS OF U LIKE THAT- just sit in his condo and eat the sandwhich he made for you. And dont argue.), Megumi (who doenst get why he wasnt ever informed that you, his baby sister, was in an arranged marriage, and why the hell didnt Noritoshi try to get his blessings/permission considering THAT HES YOUR CLOSEST FAMILY MEMBER??? Also, no- youre not marrying Kamo) and then... theres Sukuna (if you thought Naoya threw a fit, youre in for A WORLD OF TANTRUMS AS SUKUNA SCREAMS AND MOST LIKELY KILLS WHOEVER IS IN A MILE VICINITY, just to let off some steam and calm down before he talks to you and REMINDS YOU THAT YOU PROMISED TO MARRY HIM! HAVE YOU BEEN PROPOSING TO EVERY GUY YOU MET?)

People supporting this union would be all from Noritishi's side, including- the Kamo clan, Choso Kamo (cause ofc, youre just a precious baby like Yuji, and with you being part of the clan means he can protect u better), and surprise surprise Kenjaku (because youd be strong addition to the clan and then you and Nori will have babies with SUPER STRONG CURSED ENERGY AND HE'LL ACCOMPLISH HIS PLAN FOR WORLD DOMINATION).

We're using the bust order as our example here. At its base price, $15, it is set for the black and white option. If this is what you would like, then you don't have to worry about the add ons at all and you go straight to submitting your request! Now, if you're choosing add ons, it'll look something like these:

The first would be an example of an order of a flat color bust + an extra character bust with flat coloring as well. The color option adds the extra $10 (to match the listed price on the poster for $25), and the extra character with flat coloring adds half of that $25 to the order (well a little less bc i knocked off the .50 cents) which is why it comes out to $37.

The second would be an example of a black and white bust order with an added black and white bust character. This just adds an extra $7 to the price totaling $22.

More extreme gore and body horror is also off the table. (so like spilling guts stuff like that)

I may love mecha but as it is like armor and a bit more extreme, I'm not drawing it sorry. And also as stated above I'm not drawing armor regardless without a good reference.

Certain fandoms are a no-go for me due to my own comfort. A quick list would be: mogeko games, omori, south park, hetalia, attack on titan, mcyt, hazbin hotel/helluva boss. if you're not sure just ask!

anon from before. i feel like jazz is the odd one out because vlad doesnt hate her like jack but also isnt really interested in her like he is maddie and danny.... i could see him genuinely wanting to be a mentor to her though, based on canon interactions. just. at an arms length. hes not Obsessed with her but if he wants maddie and danny she'll inevitably be tagging along as well. i can imagine him daydreaming about dong questionable domestic things with maddie and danny all day while he sends jazz off to university. jazz is a bright, ambitious young woman! Surely she won't take offence of my treatment of her family if i bankroll her education!

I've actually been meaning to make a post about this point for some time.

Realistically, or at least in accordance with canon, Vlad should be more interested in Jasmine, who is the next best thing to Maddie, instead of Danny, who represents Jack and most resembles him.

But having the chief (male) antagonist of the series obsessed with the protagonist's teenage sister 1) detracts from the hero vs enemy dynamic, and 2) is honestly too creepy and predatory to get away with, even in a funny joke-around way. No way would Nickelodeon allow a middle-aged cartoon man to be obsessed, romantically or otherwise, with a sixteen year-old girl. The power disparity between them is too great, and that's just as humans. Vlad is also a mega-powerful half ghost completely capable of attacking and subduing a teenage girl. It pegs the red on the Uncomfortable Implications Meter.

But Vlad being obsessed with a teenage boy who happens to have his same powers is acceptable because they're more equally (narratively) matched. Ergo we get the soft "Uncle Vlad" side when it comes to Vlad's interactions with Jasmine. (I mean. Apart from that bit in Secret Weapons where he threatens to "waste"—TV Y7 lingo for "kill"—her with injected nanobots should she betray him.)

Speaking of which, she never got those nanobots out of her bloodstream.

But ignoring that last detail and focusing on when things were still somewhat amicable between Vlad and Jasmine, I could definitely see him trying to mentor to her, being invested in her future and her education. She represents all the things that Vlad admires in Maddie, specifically her intellect*.

* In order to maintain his delusion that Maddie is a genius who could never make a mistake, I think Vlad has convinced himself that Jack must have lied, duped, or otherwise "tricked" Maddie into marrying him, because there's no possible way she, such a remarkably smart woman, would ever marry such a bumbling idiot. He had to have deceived her. It's the only explanation.

Vlad has Maddie on a pedestal—which is also part of his objectification of her. He worships her, the goddess who could never (willingly) do wrong... the prize he can only ever admire from a distance, never to have or hold.

Anyway, I'm starting to get off track. I love this Badger Cereal equivalent of Vlad & Jazz. (Cheese Therapy?)

So, I watched the first episode of “Those About To Die” on Peacock.

I enjoyed it, and Im willing to do write ups if folks would be interested…

Since I wana talk about details, and I dont wana spread spoilers, everything is below the readmore.

What I liked: 🔵 And what I disliked: 🟠

Total Ranking: 8/10 - very good, worth the watch 👍

🟠 It dove into the Intrigue right away, which made it hard to watch while doing other things, but I can appreciate a show that grabs you by the shoulders and shoves you down into the couch to pay attention.

🔵 It wasn’t boring, quite the contrary, I felt fully engaged throughout the episode. Theres a lot of small moving parts to the story, and it orchestrates together incredibly well so far, even for Episode One. The writing is very well done, which is a lynchpin for me on a show like this. You cant pretend to be an intrigue type series without a proper plot. And, in my opinion, they’ve set their plots well right away. Tenax getting those shares in Blue was a great con, which had clearly been going a while, but we only saw the tail end of it. I see this little setup as a great look at how the writers DO their work. Connections matter, money does more than talk, and if you play the game wrong, you die. Don’t trust anyone.

🔵 I REALLY enjoyed the historical aspects of the first episode. Like, yes, this plot happened, its a historical fiction and a number of these characters exist in history, but its not just that. Its the small details, the different knives in different cultures, the veterinary care of race horses, the deities from more than just the main roman pantheon, the drinkware, the VARIOUS clothes from various cultures and climates…. And yes, women often went topless when they were a sxwrkr. Gotta advert.

🔵 ON THAT SUBJECT: can we talk about “3 sesterce… and Im tighter than both of them.” MY BOY, YOU ARE RIZZIN TOO HARD AND I LOST IT. Please, please let him be in future episodes. Omfg….

🟠 I am forced to concede the accuracy isnt PERFECT, the horses wore modern driving bridles to go with their ancient styled chariots. However, Im realistic about how many horses are trained today to pull anything without blinders, and how much safer modern bridles are. I’ll also note: I absolutely saw the animal handler grab the horse differently (calmly) before the riot surrounded it, then direct the horse to dance in the crowd. Great training with the horse! Bad camera angle. Lol

🔵 I also really like this cast so far. Everyone fills their roles incredibly well.

Hopkins doesnt even need an introduction, the mans a legend and brings all his experience to the stage with him every time. -chefs kiss-

Rheon was great in GOT, he plays calculatingly unhinged exceptionally well. But I wont lie, seeing him in a more commanding, level headedly calculating person?

Hashim….. HASHIM!!! Im SO excited to see where his character goes. We haven’t seen much of him in Ep 1 just yet, but he’s clearly going to be one of the main players. Im not familiar with him as an actor, but I’ve enjoyed his performance so far, and I REALLY appreciate the story being told.

Martins is also incredible. She does a fantastic job of knowing the danger her characters children are facing, but also knowing she HAS to play her cards right to save them. She personifies the strength and determination of a mother perfectly.

🔵 Quite honestly, I have to give points to that whole plot-line in general. That point of view is something we’ve had hidden from us (in America) for so long, that I think a LOT of people have… become calloused. I hope seeing it will potentially help others come to an empathetic understanding. This isn’t glossing over what happened, or whats likely to happen to any of the three children.

🔵 I also want to gush over actually SHOWING the wider Roman Empire, we get to see the direct effect of their influence in both Africa and Spain so far. Egypt was their bread basket, and without that grain, youve got problems. The Berber Coast has animals, and people they want, and we see money exchanging hands for the purpose of those ends. We see how the locals were told they’d be treated fairly, paid properly, and even eventually become citizens, like the Spaniards, only to have those promises thrown aside as soon as the Romans have better money to make. These people gave the Empire everything it wanted, but the Empire is never satisfied.

We also get to appreciate how far west the empire went when the Spaniards are trying to sell their horses. (Plot-bunny: Andies are dancing horses, exceptionally athletic, and a prime choice for chariots, though, a standardbred is the usual choice for modern cart racers)

🟠 I will say the CGI isnt the best. You can tell exactly when they change from live action to CGI. But this is a minor issue for me tbh. Its passable CGI, and they use it to avoid putting animals or people in danger which, obviously, I appreciate. A chariot wreck was shown, annnnnd it was pretty darn accurate to how messy those would have been. Not good times y’all. Not good times. Also, the ramifications of a major concussion. Oof. At least the guy would have barely knew what was happening? Still.

🔵 The sound effects were enough without being over the top. Often times when theres gore to show, theres all these extra squelching noises and gratuitous blood… not this time. It’s actually… pretty durn accurate. Don’t ask how I know. I don’t wana tell you, and you dont wana know.

Overall, it was a really solid first episode, and I plan on watching the rest.

literally tho not to go all pepe_silva.jpg on yall about my mayoi ghost bullshit for the millionth time but think about it hes notably an incredibly talented dancer plus the whole phantom of the opera thing plus the general ghost behavior plus tatsumi (priest) (knowledgeable about both the holy and cursed) (can sense paranormal activity) has been getting weird vibes from him since day 1 and continues to regularly, yet doesnt get even close to as many weird vibes from any of the other more sinister people in es of which there are multiple, so maybe its not mayois individual sins that set off tatsumis evil alarm but instead a constant state of unholiness that would come with being some manner of undead. hm? hm? hm? also unrelated and much less realistically speaking or based on any kind of fact whatsoever, his birthday is 6/6 and since they dont list the characters birth years we dont know this for sure but considering everything else about his character and the dev teams affinity for weird little details id bet that if they gave him a birth year it would be 06/6/06 but hes 19 years old so either the game takes place a couple years in the future OR the 06 isnt 2006 but the 6th year of a different century in the 2nd millennium, not the 3rd (which is the one we are in; 2006 was the first 06 of the 3rd millennium) BUT ANYWAYS none of that holds any value to my argument because he doesnt have a canon birth year . tis besides the point. mayoi = 16th century italian opera ghost. [i step off my soapbox and pick it up before turning around and walking directly into an open manhole.]

Ok so i just read One Last Stop by Casey Mcquiston and i really liked it. My literal one issue with the book is the science behind the time travel. I loved the concept of how it works. Jane was on the 3rd rail of the subway at the exact moment of a power surge and subsequent black out, which caused her to be stuck in a time warp thing tied to the train/tracks. I loved that. I loved how they "fixed it" by recreating it, having Jane stand on the 3rd rail and surging/overloading the system again, and the kiss was so sweet. My issue is that instead of Jane being in the present now, she seems to time travel to 3 months in the future?? We have 3 months of August being sad and grieiving the loss of Jane, but then Jane just pops back into exsistence???? If jane was stuck in the past, she should now be in the present, not shot forward. Maybe im just being to autistic about the science of it but it dkesnt make any sense to me logistically. From a narrative stand point i understand it, the author was trying to write a romance book, not a scifi. And as a romance book, it was amazing and my favorite ive read all year. But my nerd stance is the time travel isnt realistic and thank you for coming to my ted talk. Feel free to discuss or tell me your thoughts because this book is gonna be on my mind for weeks now

i was being a completely sane person today (/s) and was creating a timeline tree for snm would anyone even be interested in that. and collecting my shipping thoughts (or specifics about them being a couple etc). know that i still consider my knowledge of the franchise as poor. its just tidying it up in my head so when i talk about something i can pinpoint a specific thing (i was too deep in fnaf theorizing so now i have to suffer thru a franchise that doesnt even have a canon)

in short/tldr the comics are the base that happened in every possible timeline and everything else is derived from that, happening after, except the cartoon, which shows some events the same way so that would be more intertwined; not everything is connected/within one timeline. and the cartoon is my most fav and where i see them as a true couple.

long rant ahead

on one hand i really like the time travel theory where its like comics -> ttg -> cartoon etc by them travelling back in time for that, however there are many holes especially thinking about their families and stuff so

i like the idea of things branching off. one branch is comics - htr - cartoon, as something more intertwined

second is comics -> ttg -> poker night 2 (since it references ttg events) (idk bout 1 i havent played/seen that)

third would be comics -> ttiv (or comics -> htr -> ttiv, i have no idea atm if bosco's is mentioned in the comics but it is in htr and mentioned in ttiv. ttiv is also set in the year it came out, so theres a huge gap inbetween ttiv and htr but i wouldnt say its where the ttg games happened!)

and i dont mean this in like a multiverse way, since the creator seems to dislike that, its simply just a very loose canon that differs with each installment (simply due to different people working on these imo. nothing too deep imo)

but the juicy part!! i even made brackets that im too lazy to remake digitally so i will just write it out for each bigger installment. im excluding poker night 1 as i havent played it nor watched much gameplay

htr: M - possible; BF - yes

cartoons: M - i take it as canon here. BF - yes million percent

ttg all seasons: M - no; BF - yes.

poker night 2: M - not sure, implied dating, i take that as good enough; BF - yes

ttiv: M - absolutely not. not a couple at all. BF - they seem too tense, yes, but from my experience playing, their interactions were imo the worst in all of their media, so i wasnt buying it at some points

note - ttiv has to be like the straightest they ever were and i also see it in S.P.'s more recent work. im looking too deep into that, perhaps, but im just thinking were never gonna get anything similar to what we got from back in the 90s again, if theres any future projects

people are also saying they got married like 4 times and its making me a bit confused here. do people mean cartoon, htr dress up card, cake topper and tdph ring scene or am i missing something big?? because to me that is married once, other ones being just for jokes (first one as well but its less vague), and in the ttg games its so extremely vague i cant count that (being realistic here) that said its still fun to joke about them getting married several times, but in this case wouldnt it be more of a marriage per timeline?

and to end this, a personal tierlist

my most fave obviously is the cartoon. not only is it the easiest to work with for me, with the fast pacing and short watch time (but ofc i wish it was longer) i absolutely love how their relationship is depicted there, even if a lot of stuff there is just jokes, but if everything is a joke then its also fine to take everything as canon within this media, to me! like when haters say that people only take the wedding scene out of the intro and ignore the rest - as if the other stuff couldnt happen (isnt one of the shots them fighting a giant octopus, which they end up having an episode about too. like cmon. anything goes here) even if it was contained within this specific part of the franchise, im ok with calling them a couple here. and its S tier overall

another S tier is the comics. nothing else to say

HTR is like A tier to me, only taking off points because its soooo sloooowwww and playing it after watching the series took 3 years off my life immediately. otherwise gud game.

ttg is like A to B tier for me, because of some specifics and preferences but thats just me being nitpicky so, the games overall are good. A- it is. thats all

poker night 2 is fun, i watch the gameplay a lot lately when im too tired at midnight to do anything else, A tier

ttiv. oh how mixed i am about you. gameplay by itself and my first experience with the game - S tier. it made me so giddy more than one time and i kept wanting to come back until i finished the game fully. i dont mind the bugs, its just what i expect in VR games and even tho it made me a bit frustrated at times it wasnt all that bad. its also the only vr game i played for over an hour once and didnt get motion sick - the exception was the level at the store which seemed too bright and actually made me nauseous. which is a feeling that somehow comes back whenever i think about this game. what i dislike was the dialogue, while most of it was fun and fine, i had moments where i just burst out laughing, they (or max especially) were way too mean towards the player. i know its a joke and you could chalk it up to max being unhappy with us/jealous, but it got like, generally unpleasant very quickly. with stuff like good throw - "nice!" bad throw - *neverending insults* and the second was how painfully straight it was and like. the vibes i got from them two was like, oh theyre fed up with each other and my shipping self was just left quite disappointed. i did not get all lines during my gameplay which made it great but upon going thru every line manually after, i was just more and more uncomfortable with what they said in their banter. this drops the game to like C for me? maybe B if i squint. being generous. i also got sick of their talking animations over time... the models are fine just got to be too much. bonus points for max ragdoll physics tho. coming up with a conclusion that this is a completely separate timeline and has nothing to do with anything other than the comics and perhaps HTR. i talked so long about this one cause its the one thing that prompted all of this lol.

but its not that serious! i just knew this franchise for ages as "oh its the two animal guys that are married and its funny" and now that i got into it fully, i see a lot of the shippers are obviously daydreaming and taking things out of context - which is fun, i agree!! i also do that. but it just painted a completely different picture for me. so no. theyre not married, theyre not a couple, except for the cartoon, where its implied, which stays on top for me. but in ttg at least, they love each other, its not as romantic, but i can ship them there (so i ship them in the context of the cartoon and ttg basically)

anyway. nothing is canon for them, everything is canon for them, and everything they say or do is a joke so. its not that deep at all. they gay tho

i think the reason that i love william wisp so much is that hes literally me when i was younger, like back when i was depressed, self-hating and refused to try cuz i was scared. i felt hollow, like there wasnt any personality left under that pain. at some point, the idea of getting better felt terrifying to me, cuz i didnt know what id find under all the pain and trauma, if there was even anything left under there.

with this new era of william wisp, i wouldnt be surprised if I ended up relating to him even more. I think theres a lot of directions he could go towards, personality-wise, and even if he ends up not going the same route as me, i know that the idea itself of having to find yourself after so long spent hiding is gonna resonate with me no matter what.

another thing i find interesting is that i also got that moment when i realised that everything i wanted was at my fingertips, which was the catalyst for me eventually getting better. it was during my psychosis, this friend of mine (who i held in very high regards) ended up telling me off, i dont remember for what exactly (psychosis does funny things to your brain) but it was something related to me not trying to get better. they said something that triggered my derealisation, which of course, sent me into a derealisation/dissociation spiral for some months, and basically straight to rock bottom. of course, i wouldnt recommend that you do that for your friends who are going through similar stuff, im pretty sure i could have died multiple times back then, but in the end, its what pulled me through to where im at now.

i dont remember everything, but basically, the thought process was : nothing is real, its all made up in my head, so theres nothing stopping me from imagining a world where im happy and living in it. i wrote a poem about it, not my best work for obvious reasons, but theres still something to it i think. here :

(Aftersun spoilers)

I just finished "aftersun" and until now thats the movie i watched that managed to mess with my feelings the most. Although i do believe there are many movies objectively sadder than this one to the general audience, this reminded me of how personal each one's experience with movies are and this one surely gets the prize for being the one to make me feel the saddest.

I recognized how priviledge and also a haunting tought it is to have access to some of your memories. Sure, i have many photos with my dad, but I dont have any recordings, no memory of his voice or how he actually acted. Building your idea of someone through childhood scenes is very hard, and just as its shown in the movie, the vision of a kid doesnt correspond to the actual scenery. Relying on another persons storytelling on how your father was is impossible and I hate having to do that, especially since you end up hearing especific sides of the story. I would love to have the full picture of my father, memory is not reliable, but i think sometimes its great not knowing. Only having in your head the blissfull moments of happiness in between the realistic moments adults hide away. The contrast of these short happy scenes viewed by Sophie in the midst of the depression Calum is suffering is what makes this so heart-wrenching for me.

Besides that, the idea of the future brought me such dread, because hiding yourself from anyone is horrible and it is unfortunately a part of the adult life. Calum had to make the depressed portion of him invisible for Sophie, to put a mask and ignore it to protect her, especially when shes just entering adolescence and many new emotions are flowing in. I imagined all the times my family had to do that exact thing for me. Life isnt easy and death is something so horrible to deal with, right now my grandmother is in the hospital and i cant help but think how if i was a little kid right now i wouldnt even get told this. In a big family it gets easier, but to a "solo" dad like Calum, having no one to talk to about your feelings and trauma is unbearable. This is also why i do believe he killed himself, this holiday felt like a way to say goodbye to his daughter, to gift her these memories even if hes struggling so much. He feels like she deserves at least this, he has to do better than his parents and do his best to be a good father to her, because he loves her so much.

Rewatching these moments and realising what was missing in the puzzle of Calum is a form to bring closure to Sophie, to rescue the fading images. In a bittersweet manner he was her hero even tought she knew he was going through something bad and often made decisions which saddened her. She loved him so much and not having someone in your life anymore feels like such a lie, now she only has her own memory and the recordings of those sun-kissed days in Turkey to remember him.

yeah im very similar when it comes to my interests where if anything slightly shifts i get this anxiety in the pit of my stomach. but! its important to know sometimes that anxiety isnt always warranted. realistically roier will not suddenly quit playing the smp if he wanted to do that anytime soon he wouldnt have logged on for the new version of the server. we also know he has a lot of planned lore with doied and hombre misterioso to look forward to in the future! as well as any lore he may stumble upon with others so do not worry there is so much content to look forward to. the only difference this year may be the fact he doesn’t play minecraft for every stream which can be good to ensure he doesnt burnout and so he can expand his content a bit. either way qsmp will stay for a while longer so theres no need to worry or get saddened. for the most part things will remain the same:) if he ever decided he’d completely stop playing he’d advise his audience and its clear that is not what he intends right now. hope this helps u a bit anon<3

the worldbuilding is incredible!! it's a lot but i feel like its being incorporated in a way that isnt overwhelming so we're able to follow along with everything pretty well! plus, the fact that a lot of it is from grian's (very confused) perspective makes him work really well as a sort of source of information for readers! its great!!

scar’s motivations, in a broad and general sense, are really intriguing to consider in this au. he’s someone who’s never been human operating on fae morals while mingling with humans. so there’s this really interesting clash of ideals and goals going on. but if he’s not careful, the fallout could be… messy. extremely messy.

and ACK I’ve talked about grian and his humanity and the connection it has to everyone and the story drives me MADE. because realistically speaking, he Is the weakest. he Is the most vulnerable. the most fragile. it would Not take much to kill him. yet that doesn’t stop him from wanting to help. from wanting to be useful. there’s so much drive and perseverance and just… hope. he has so much hope and stubbornness and he is so painfully human. it reminds the non human characters of what they lost. of what they want to protect (mumbo).

and objectively, it’s because of grian’s humanity that he’s able to see the humanity in those around him (mumbo and scar).

and using grian as the reader’s in to the supernatural world is Very purposeful :D when you begin the series, you and grian have the same amount of knowledge. you’re entering the supernatural world together, and learning the same information. so the readers are Literally seeing the world through grian’s eyes.

hi, this isnt about fandom but I saw your life story and im somewhere around mid or my twenties rn and it feels unreal. I don't have a job, don't know what I want to do with my life bc I have like 10 different passions not including drawing which I like only in specific moods, and my relationships with most of the passions I have is me bicycling through them, all 10s, and I decided, whew I don't know what to fucking do! I got bach on business bc I thought it was a generic degree for a generic person like me who was on a bad place in hs (depressed and all) so I just took the deal for business school bc I thought it was generic enough and it seems everyone I knew nudged me there. My family works in banks, has finance or business degrees and maybe its weird im the one artsy kid who has relatives knee deep in banking business industries and doctors and science fields then I'm the one artsy kid who has no idea what to do bc I can do a lot of things, likes all of them enough and decided idk anymore... how do you discover what you want to do and how did you start to work for the company?

I discovered what I wanted to do fully on accident honestly. Like, with two useless Bachelor's degrees and no work experience, there isn't a whole lot you can do. Temp agencies always hire and I kind of... jumped into the cold, deep end on just trying.

I hated the agency, let's be clear. That was. That was a shit-show. But the job I got through the agency showed me that yeah no, this is fun, I can do this, I like doing this.

So, after, I started looking for jobs in that vein.

I do think that the temp agency was a good way of getting a feel for things, for me at least.

And then I just genuinely got lucky by my alma mater being very, very open. The fact that they hire people without work experience on the philosophy that you have to be taught how to do your individual job anyway and that the qualifications required for the job title are usually fairly useless because the individual job does differ from what you learn there? Which is a mentality I think more employers need.

The best advise I can give really is to just... try. Because you won't know if you like something or not until you did try it.

Maybe not immediately dive into full employment on everything? Try internships, maybe? Do an internal inventory of what you can realistically see yourself doing every day, for the unforeseeable future, make a list of the things you can and can't see yourself do and then, well, look into what kind of jobs require the things you enjoy. That's what I did, at least.

Art isnt better because you know how to render light more realistically than someone else. Art is about the meaning you inbue in it. Stickmen drawings can have a stronger impact than a professional painting because the artist has put their soul in it, and it reaches us and transforms us. Some of my favourite pictures were drawn by people who only draw as a hobby. This is my policy in art and it will never change. As long as you take a pencil, you are an artist. You might think your art is ugly because you dontk know how to draw back muscles, but somebody can reach tears because they get the meaning of your drawing on a level so profound even you didnt expect it. All artists are equal, there is no stupid ass hierarchy, every art is valuable, from stickmen drawing to paintings that took years to finish. If you are a beginner artist, do NOT give up because you think you arent good enoigh. Because guess what ? to someone on this earth, you might be good enough, you might even be an already fantastic artist. You have stories to tell that are completely unique, and you should tell them. People who say that everything has already been said are STUPID. Because the way you express it is what makes it singular and intriguing.

The soul of the artist is felt in every trait, each stroke is deliberate for the sake of a specific emotion to invoke, and is absolutely unique, no matter how many people have done this before, because you have done this in your name, and in your own way, which will forever remain singular and personal. Your art has value, wether it is a doodle youre making during a telephone call or a very technical commission. There is no hierarchy in art, there is no artist that is better than someone else. There are only artists who have found a voice so unique that it resonate with more people than yours might. And it shouldnt deter you from drawing and telling the stories you want to tell. Elephants have painted. Monkeys and dogs have painted, People without arms or feet have painted. Anyone can do it.

Contemplating: What is Necromancy

There has been an excessive amount of speculation on proper methods here as to what can be done with necromancy and not much about what rules and realistic expectations one can have with the practice in a fantasy setting. Most of this will be personal takes and never feel that your take is less valid so long as your logic holds up with the rest of the world youve made for it to exist in.

To begin with, necromancy originates from an old practice of communicating with the dead to know the future as, back when such things were taken as real, people believed that the dead were untethered from the rules of both time and space, and could learn of the future by peering through the veil. With this in mind, spells for communicating with the dead should always be present on some level if you feel like a traditionalist in these things, from the smallest bit of flavor to the most plot critical elements it will add something extra by being grounded in a bit of reality.

Ideas can include therapy for the grieving who didnt get to say goodbye, crime scene detectives interviewing victims carefully, legal concerns over inheritance being resolved directly in lieu of a will and even historical documentation and verification of hypotheisis if a powerful enough necromancer can find an old enough spirit to connect with.

Now for the hard parts; necromancy in the common modern sense is using magic to influence the dead or dead things to do what you want them to. This can be drying and rotting out a dead thing into spellcasting ingredients or animating a skeleton to serve you in combat or chores. The mechanisms behind this are dependant on your world system and its physics but my preference is that all living things have a soul-like resevoir where the vital essence lies and when death occurs it is emptied. Then, a novice mage can fill that space with magic and puppet the dead object with said magic to twist it to their whim.

My personal take means that necromancy is easy, so much so that its like a gun: pick it up, load it and point, then the action happens. Dangerous, worse when respect is dropped from the equation, and made worse the more complex it gets. This isnt to say that necromancy is only a weapon, but that because its so easily used as one that it shouldnt be practiced without extreme regulation, and the ease of which it can be done means that such regulation is hard to maintain. If anyone can take their recently killed family and rampage through town in a bid for revenge against the killers while hurting people in the crossfire, it is not just traumatic but also generally horrific for all involved.

A hard question: does necromancy affect rot and decay? Personally, I say yes because it opens the space for more interesting uses of the magic. My take involves with how bacteria are living things, and a novice would be able to inject magic in the bacteria to force dead and even living bacteria to work faster, but because they are pushed in this way they also are pushed though absorbing the dead bacteria and reproducing new bacteria, inevitably bursting and causing a corpse explosion. A master, though, could work and shift the bacteria in such a way where you could make living people ill, cure living people of some illness, pick and choose which bacteria affect a dead thing and outright kill the bacteria and other microflora all at once.

Now for the positives: necromancy can affect any dead thing, from preserving plants and meat by accelerating the aging process in a clean environment, to forcing fermentation in certain foods and substances that can even make alcohols to sterilize and clean with. Necromancy could make a medical environment sterile faster than some other magics when broken down into potential capabilities. A fun fact is that the bacteria and temperature of a decaying human body kills off most dangerous viruses and bacteria to people so accelerating the breakdown of a body would be clean disposal of a body for sanitaion purposes, and the same works with some animals.

Redeeming the necromancer past a boogeyman who assaults the countryside is just a matter of open-mindedness. Detectives, historians, morticians, doctors, therapists, even personal lawyers could be necromancera in your setting if you just take what can be done and apply it.

now for the strategy exercise

I think phil choose that exercise on purpose, believing it could show well the benefits of tommy being a blank slate (just as this phrase isnt getting out of wilburs head, youre not getting away from the unintentional lyric reference)

also the solution tommy gives is pretty simple, it kinda shows how niki and q both tried to go the way they are most familiar with, showing off a bit their capabilities, thinking about more tricky stuff like the psyche of the people, with niki especially

the exercise is about coming up with a super complicated strategy, its more about finding out what APPROACH they would take to this situation

and like I understand the problem with nikis solution but tbf to niki, she came up with a much better solution to the presented problem when you focus just at the result, unlike tommys plan hers was thought thru and didnt have that many loopholes, it just didnt fit phils expectations, like when this happens to me in an exam, im also arguing with the teacher that the fact that it wasnt their answer doesnt mean my answer isnt correct

now im bit saying I think thats the best way to rule a kingdom BUT niki is very rightfully angry about phil praising tommy

and honestly I just think good for niki yk, like yes, go get that power, whatever it takes

I love her standing up against phil but than being scared she messed up, there are so many layers to her it's amazing

you always treat your female characters right and rose!niki is prime example of that, she is everything I adore her so much and I support her rights and her wrongs

and when it comes to q, hes the one that confuses me bc he seems so easy to read and very certain about being chosen as the heir which is very dangerous in court and foolish and first look youd think hes just not good at hiding his opinions which could tie into him being a less likely heir

but like hes been at the court for quite some time and must know how much of a disadvantage being readable is so maybe hes playing is double layered, pretending to be easy to read while actually hiding the important stuff, I mean wilbur calls him really smart and witty

or theres a secret third option where its only wilbur whos able to read him so well and we wouldnt know bc its from wilburs pov but the way its described, compared to how wilbur reading niki is described this is unlikely id say

and the worst is that with the kind of character quackity is he could be either, like he turns out to be super smart and calculative ill be like thats so like him but if he turns out to be actually just that egoistic and easy to be ill be like yeah thats exactly like the train wreck of a man I know and love

I mean quackity knows his strengths and how to play on them, knows it wont be easy getting the throne and so he does stuff like partnering with schlatt, calling the meeting...

but with the strategy exercise it shows that hes putting everything on his strong suits and thats not always gonna be enough

oh yeah phil definitely chose the exercise for a reason. tbh it was a test for all three of them, less to learn their war strategy and more to learn how well they take guidance and criticism. definitely highlights the benefits of tommy being a blank slate.

and that ties into the issue with niki. while her plan had some issues, it was the most realistic of the three. the problem was her reaction to phil's criticism. she had a right to argue with phil regarding the success of her strategy, but that's not what phil wanted.

I'm glad you're enjoying rose!niki so far. like yes, she stood up to phil and was stubborn and angry and ruthless, but she was also scared. she was worried she messed up and regretted speaking out because she deals with so much pressure to always maintain a certain public persona and reputation, because her future is so reliant on it. I'm so happy I get to spend so much time focusing on niki in a long fic like this. rose!niki is so complicated and has so much going on with her, I'm really excited to continue diving into her character.

hmm won't go into detail to what's going on with q, but I'd say there's a mix of things going on from what you said. wilbur's pov definitely plays a role in how well we're able to read him, but also he is very aware of the games being played and knows how to adjust his behavior accordingly.
