Journey Begins Theorycraft
Tumblr media
I’m back! Why? Flame Emperor was the last GHB unit I theorycrafted for, and this month, she got her refine. Iago is next, so let’s get to it.
Journey Begins is a weirdly named banner that’s themed around Fire Emblem Fates Revelation, the beginning of the game. Lilith, Rinkah, and Iago are in the beginning of the game, but Midori and Forrest? Naw. Would they be in the FEH now if they weren’t this banner. IDK. Ask Mitama or Percy.
Tumblr media
Lilith: Astral Daughter
Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 39/36/41/27/30          Max Invest: 49/46/51/36/40
Astral Breath: Grants Spd+3. Unit can move to a space adjacent to support partner. If unit is within 3 spaces of support partner, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 to unit during combat. If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res.
Reposition – Atk/Spd Bond 3 – Def/Res Link 3 – Joint Drive Atk
Lilith is the dragon fish girl that runs the My Castle feature in Fates, even in the after life. With Astral projection powers and a micro dimension at her disposal, you would think she would be the Mythic classification with Askr or Sothis. Nope. But Veyle can be a mythic, why not? …. Actually, if she did get a Mythic that’s her ghost form like Sigurd and Deirdre, that be fine. They could make her a lighting / healing tower; she would deal damage to foes and restore health to allies out of combat, either at the start of turn, when attacking, or when an ally attacks. But this isn’t for a Lilith alt, this is for her refine.
Astral Breath: Grants Spd+3. Unit can move to a space within 2 spaces of support partner. At start of turn, if unit is within 3 tile radius of support partner, grants Atk/Spd+6 and the following status to unit and allies within 2 spaces for 1 turn: "Grants Special cooldown charge +1 per attack during combat (only highest value applied; does not stack)." If unit is within 3 spaces of an ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 to unit during combat. If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res.
So, for the refine to Lilith’s Astral Breath, we look to Fallen Lilith. She got a greater ranged warp range and grants the ally “Special Charge +1” rather than [NFU]. This should help with Galeforce teams, not that Lilith can get Galeforce. Combined this with Guidance 4 (or Soaring Guidance) for more wrapping maneuvers.
If unit's HP >25%, grant Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X to unit, deals damage = 15% of unit’s Spd, neutralize effects that guarantee foe's follow-up attacks and prevent unit’s follow-up attacks. (X = 4 + highest bonus on each stat between unit and allies within 2 spaces of unit; calculates each stat bonus independently).
And this next part is per combat, something to make her surprise attack hit with a little more “omf”. She got Bonus Doubler 4, NFU, and 15% Spd damage boost. The DR tanks will still have her beat, but any conventional Res tanks that prevent follow-up, use guarantee follow-up, or Guard (cuz we got Breath), won’t be countered. Plus, she still has adaptive damage to ranged foes, so she can clean those guys up.

Midori: Reliable Chemist
Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 41/41/30/34/21          Max Invest: 51/51/39/44/31
Spendthrift Bow+: Effective against flying foes. Grants Atk+7 to unit and inflicts Atk-7 on foe during combat. After combat, if unit attacked, inflicts Special cooldown count+2 on unit. (Cannot exceed the unit's maximum Special cooldown.)
Rally Atk/Def+ - Close Foil – Chill Atk 3
Hey, remember Spendthrift Bow? Yeah, it’s really good for archers who’s Atk, Def, and Res were too low, and needed to invest in stat raising skills or wanted to use Close Foil. The downside was that their Special cooldown was almost reset after combat. Meaning you needed a Moonbow with guaranteed follow-up and special charge, or you can not use the Special at all. Look, 2020 was different. We now have a couple of bows that grant Atk/Def+5 and Peppy Bow that inflicts Atk/Def-5 while preventing follow-ups, while not effecting your Special at all. Also, Arcane bows exist.
Hey, remember Close Foil? It’s also a good skill for Def focused archers and dagger units that only fight physical foes. I talked about them before in my defensive tier 4 skill theorycraft, but this was the best one just because those units needed the stats and dragons were going to one-shot you anyway.
Hey, remember who introduced both those skills? Midori! There was nothing else interesting about her, aside from higher-than-average Def on an archer at the time. But hey, she’s an apothecary and her Spendthrift bow was named after the Spendthrift skill from Fates, which she could promote and obtain. How can we integrate that?
Apothecary Bow: Effective against flying foes. At the start of turn, if unit is within 2 spaces of unit, restore 7 HP to unit and allies within 2 spaces, and also, if unit's HP > 25%, grant [Golden Bar] to unit and allies within 2 spaces for 1 turn. At the start of combat, if unit's HP > 25%, grant Atk +7 to unit and inflict Atk-7 on foe during combat. [Golden Bar] Unit deals damage +10 and takes damage -10, but after combat, this bonus is removed.
THAT’S RIGHT! WE ARE MAKING BANK! GOLDEN BAR META COMENCE! THIS IS REAL SPENDTHRIFT! It’s just not a luck chance of getting a golden bar item that then gets consumed at the start of combat to give +10 damage and -10 damage taken, it’s a guaranteed chance to get a bonus effect that gives you a one-time use of +10 damage and -10 damage taken. Not only that, she shares this ability with everybody, share the wealth!
At the start of combat, if unit's HP > 50% or if [Bonus] is active on unit, grant Def/Res+5 to unit and inflict Def/Res-5 on foe during combat, grant unit guaranteed follow-up attack, prevent foe’s follow-up attack, and inflict Special cooldown charge-1 on foe per attack.
AND WE KEEP GOING! If she has her bonus or is above 50% HP, she gets more in combat stats, omni breaker, and Guard. Is this overkill? Maybe. Don’t care.

Rinkah: Scion of Flame
Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 40/34/39/41/18          Max Invest: 50/43/49/51/28
Rinkah's Club: Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). If foe initiates combat or if unit's HP < 100% at start of combat, grants Atk/Def+5 and Special cooldown charge +1 per foe's attack during combat. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack. Special cooldown charge granted even if foe's attack deals 0 damage.)
Bonfire – Distant Foil – Wrath 3 – Even Def Wave 3
*Insert picture of Spongebob licking Rinkah’s abs*
As in Fate’s, Rinkah is an underpowered axe unit with mix matched stats for an axe unit. She’s designed for the beginning, and falls off after getting her in Birthright and is immediately bad when obtained in Revelations. Her utility came from her personal, which gave more damage with 1 point of damage, wielding Clubs, which have higher Hit/Crit than axes, using her good Skill/Spd, and getting Spells + Death Blow when promoted. She like a sword master in a way. What she has in FEH is high Spd/Def and Low Atk/Res, a Special spamming Club, and Distant Foil to win match-ups with Physical attacking units. Her biggest weakness in Feh is magic foes, obviously. My goal for this refine is make her the best she can be again Physical attacking foe’s on mixed phase, while leaving her magic weakness, not adding to it.
Rinkah's Club: Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of combat, if foe initiates combat, if unit's HP ≤ 99%, or if foe's HP = 100%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5, reduces damage from foe's attacks by 20% of unit's Def (excluding area-of-effect Specials), Special cooldown charge +1 per attack during combat.
So, let’s start with this. Thanks to Brash Assault 4 and Desperation 4, we have easy way to give her in combat boosts and Special charge she needs, before she takes damage, during player phase. I then just gave her the True Damage Reduction by 20% Def. You can use that high she has to shrug of physical attacks or lessen the power of magic attacks. But where is the True Damage?
If foe initiates combat or foe's HP ≥ 75%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 to unit during combat, and also, if unit's max Special cooldown count value ≥ 2 and unit's attack can trigger unit's Special, when unit's Special triggers (excluding area-of-effect Specials), neutralizes "reduces damage by X%" effects from non-Special skills and calculates that attack's damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res.
And this is where all the power comes form. With Bonfire or Ignis, like Brave Robin, Coincidentally, Rinkah damage is hindered by the Def and DR of physical attacking units, which Close Foil only works on, and those foe’s tend to have lower Res. Rinkah promotion gets her Magic (if you go Oni Chieftain) so this is just her channeling that. Also, if you just get distant counter, cool, mages already have low def, and unless you are fighting certain mages and dragons, you aren’t dealing to DR. I should note, I can see them giving her an effect like her Flame Tribe alt, “inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Def during combat = 20% of unit's Def at start of combat” instead of TDR.

Iago: Nohr's Tactician
Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 42/38/27/23/32          Max Invest: 52/48/36/32/43
Iago's Tome: Grants Res+3. At start of odd-numbered turns, if any foe's HP ≤ unit's HP-3 and that foe is not adjacent to another foe, inflicts Atk/Spd-4 and 【Guard】 on that foe. At start of even-numbered turns, if any foe's HP ≤ unit's HP-3 and that foe is adjacent to another foe, inflicts Def/Res-4 and 【Panic】 on that foe.
Blazing Wind – HP/Atk 2 – Atk Opening 3
And here we have Iago, the … wait. We forget Forrest. …
And here we have Iago, the most gremlin-y of the dark advisors of the ancient dark dragon architype. His whole gimmick was flip flopping between nerfing the offensive power of foe’s with less HP then him on odd-numbered turns, and naffing the defensive power of foe’s with less HP then him on even-numbered turns. There was no escape, but the burden was set on you to attack offensively on even turn and act defensively on odd turns. Now a days, we got mages that debuff the whole team with better/more effects without an HP check or them needing to be near an ally, and they still put up a fight.
Iago's Tome: Grants Res+3. At start of odd-numbered turns, if any foe's HP ≤ unit's HP-1 and that foe is adjacent to another foe, inflicts Atk/Spd-6 and 【Guard】 on that foe. At start of even-numbered turns, if any foe's HP ≤ unit's HP-1 and that foe is adjacent to another foe, inflicts Def/Res-6 and 【Panic】 on that foe. At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grant Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat.
So, the changes are as followed; decrease the required HP to be 1 higher rather than 3, make both effects work when that foe is adjacent to another foe (I get you are trying counter measures but no), increase the penalties inflicted to 6, and the basic +4 to all stats when healthy.
At start of combat, if 【Penalty】 is active on foe, foe's HP ≤ 99%, or unit's HP ≥ 50%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit, inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-X on foe (X = highest penalty on each stat between target and foes within 2 spaces of target; calculates each stat penalty independently), unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack during combat, and also, if this unit's HP ≥ foe's HP+5 at the start of combat and foe’s attack can trigger foe’s Special, inflicts Special cooldown count+1 on foe before foe’s first attack during combat (cannot exceed foe's maximum Special cooldown).
Now for the nutty stuff that makes him a tough nut to crack. When the foe has any penalty, is hurt slightly, or Iago is healthier, it’s +4 to all stats, the Sabbotage effect in combat, a guaranteed follow-up, and an HP check Snare, like with B!Tiki or Veyle’s C skill. The other examples uses Res, which Iago does have enough to benefit against some god swords, but if you want the other part of his tome to work, you are investing in HP. This maybe to strong of an effect for a Grail unit, but it’s harder to get that HP check then a RES check. You may need Savage Blow or other out of combat damaging skills to get those checks. It’s better than needing a support partner at least.
And with that, another banner is done. See you guys … whenever.

Tumblr media
“You and me should grab a drink some time.” Leonie pecks Linkle on the cheek.
Tumblr media
“You Beorc have some strange customs, but very well, I don’t want to be the odd one out.” Lethe also pecks Linkle.
Tumblr media
“Ah--um--well now--uuuuuh.” Nephenee smooches then immediately stiffens up and needs to be carried off by Lethe and Leonie.
Tumblr media
“I-I think my Mother would be a better kisser anyway!” Noire squeaks, kisses Linkle’s cheek and then runs way!

Entry 64: Killing a Man for a Pair of Boots
Class Profiles - Blacksmith
A promotion for Oni Savages and this game’s equivalent of the Hero class. Which is weird, because the Hero class is also in this game. It would have made more sense for Fighters to promote into Warriors, like in most Fire Emblem games, and have Oni Savages promote into Berserkers, instead of having two versions of the Heroes. They wield axes and swords. This is a possible class for Rinkah and Kenshi. Their skill Salvage Blow gives a Luck percent based change to give a random iron weapon after battle, which isn’t too useful in a game with unbreakable weapons in a route with plentiful money. Lancebreaker is more useful, boosting Hit and Avoid by fifty when fighting lance wielding enemies. Their design is pretty good, adding a blue coat, a pair of hammers dangling from their belt, bulky gauntlets, and for generic Blacksmiths a welding mask that still resembles an oni mask.
Class Profiles - Bow Knight
A mounted class wielding bows and swords. Possible promotion for Laslow, Selena, Soleil, Niles, Nina, and Anna. Rally Skill is a rally skill that rallies skill, while Shurikenbreaker breaks shurikens. I’m not sure why Bow Knights were made into the anti Ninja class, but it’s a niche I guess. Their design is kinda dumb, with an overarmored left arm, dumb helmet, heels, and these wierd things hanging from their belt. Still, they’re the only mounted class I’ve seen so far that doesn’t have the women wear thongs, which is an improvement. They still have a boob window, but I’ll take what I can get.
Class Profiles - Dark Knight
A mounted mage class and promotion for Dark Mages. Wields tomes. Class of Leo, possible class for Odin, Nyx, and Ophelia. A bit worse at damage dealing than Sorcerers, but bulkier and with much better movement. Seal Magic lowers the magic stat of your opponent after combat, while Lifetaker restores half of the user’s HP when they kill an enemy. The design for male Dark Knights is amazing; the collars are a bit much, but the black and gold platemail is cool and the helmets that mix roman centurion helmets with skull masks are simply amazing. Female Dark Knights wear thongs while riding horses.
Conquest Chapter 16: Invasion
Moron and Azura return with Gunter, who Hans sarcastically welcomes back. Garon orders Moron to infiltrate Hoshido over the sea, something Moron accepts without protest. Iago asks about where Moron went the night before. Moron claims to have gone on a midnight stroll with Azura to clear their head. Moron cleverly admits to running into and killing mysterious soldiers, explaining the bloodstains on their armor. Moron says they killed all the enemy soldiers to crush the seeds of rebellion.
While waiting for the boat, Xander shows up and attacks Moron to test their reflexes. Xander joins the team. Moron says Xander is as strong as a thousand soldiers, which is true. Xander will be carrying us through the rest of this game. Elise introduces Azura, who Xander actually remembers. He explains that Garon kept her separate from the others because she was the daughter of Garon’s second wife, Arete, and hated by people sad over the death of Xander’s mom.
While sailing to Hoshido on the weird boat from Birthright Chapter 11, pirates led by Shura sneak aboard the ship to rob it.
This is a defeat the boss chapter, which is weird because there isn’t any boss in sight. The boss is actually disguised as one of four ally soldiers spread around the map who you need to talk to if you want to fight them. You have to do this quickly, because every turn you don’t the pirates steal gold from the player. After defeating Shura, the gang learns that he was the one who kidnapped Azura as a child. Shura begs Moron for mercy, but the Nohrian royals tell Moron to execute him for being a potential spy.
The player is actually given a choice. If they spare Shura, he joins our army and is a loyal ally. This is what Corrin, a trusting kind person who sees the good in people, would chose to do. But we aren’t playing as Corrin, we’re playing as Moron, the cowardly evil dipshit who I hate. I chose to execute Shura, not because you’re given a pair of boots for doing so, but because I want Moron to make that choice. I want them to actually have some fucking agency and do something heinous that can’t be blamed on someone else. I make my choice and Moron murders a man for a pair of boots and their abusive father’s approval.
This decision literally does not affect the plot of the game in any way.
Support: Corrin/Xander
C: Corrin finds Xander training and the two reminisce about how Corrin used to watch Xander train when they were younger.
B: Corrin discusses how Xander's training helped them sleep and how Xander always looks so angry when he trains late at night.
A: Xander reveals that he trains to get out his anger towards Garon. Corrin thanks Xander for saving them from loneliness and promises to always be there for him.
S: Corrin says Xander is a great older brother who she always looked up to. Xander says he wants to bang.
Review: Ignoring the S-Rank, this is pretty good. Corrin and Xander have a loving relationship and Xander being angry about Garon makes him a better character.
Support: Felicia/Odin
C: Felicia is put in charge of supervising Odin because he's weird.
B: Odin is sad about needing a babysitter and points out that the rest of the army is also weird. Also Felicia pours tea on him.
A: Felicia tells Odin that, while every else in the army is weird, Odin has the most flair. Similarly, Felicia isn't the only clumsy person, just the most clumsy.
S: Felicia stops supervising Odin. This dissapoints him, because he's fallen in love with her.
Review: A bit shallow, but enjoyable.
Support: Peri/Selena
C: Peri brings up the fact that, while Selena is good at everything, Peri is better at murder. Selena calls her out on this and Peri starts crying.
B: Peri challenges Selena to a cooking competition and wins.
A: Peri decides that she and Selena are best friends and cries until Selena agrees.
Review: As I’ve said before, Peri is funny if you ignore that her existence makes everyone else evil by association. Her deciding she wins at murder by default because no one else is a sociopathic murderer is fun.
Support: Keaton/Mozu
C: Mozu figures out from how Keaton smells that he's a country bumpkin.
B: Mozu reminisces about her village.
A: Mozu and Keaton go hunting. Mozu thanks Keaton for hanging out with her and making her feel better.
S: They get together because they're both country people.
Review: Not awful, but it could have benefited from saying more about Keaton’s youth or having something interesting happen. Overall, this one is just kinda bland.

Written for 100ships on Dreamwidth
Prompt #19: Wine
Ship: Orochi/Rinkah
Fandom: Fire Emblem Fates
Word Count: 1,734
Rating: T
Warnings: No Warnings Apply
Tags:  Fluff, Alcohol
AN: this was meant to be subtle and it is but I’m worried it is to the extent of just being platonic but it is meant to be shippy.
Orochi had been milling around the store, looking at pretty, shiny things that she didn’t really need to buy when Rinkah marched in. She was grinning to ear to ear, eyes all lit up and straight to the counter she went, giving Sakura jump as she was working it today.
“Has my package arrived yet?” Rinkah asked, though demanded of Sakura might be more accurate to her demand, as excited and well-meaning as it was.
Clutching onto her staff for moral support against the unrelenting inferno that was Rinkah, Sakura nodded shyly, “It sure has.” she murmured. “One second please.”
Orochi’s ears pricked up as she made herself scarce. She was a little bit curious and enjoyed knowing the on-goings of various members of the army. Information was as much a power as magic was so she thought she would observe from behind some shelves hosting some daruma dolls. She glanced back towards the counter and sure enough, Sakura had come back from the private storage with a box.
“A care package from home, is it?” she asked.
   “Even better.” Rinkah beamed proudly.
“O-oh, I hope you enjoy then. Gifts from family are always nice.” Sakura agreed.
“Too true, kiddo, I’ll be seein’ ya.” Rinkah said and that was it.
Then, just like the blitz she came in with, Rinkah marched out but Orochi wasn’t going to be left in her dust nor her ashes. She skipped out from behind the shelf, bade goodbye to Sakura who was startled to see she had still been in here at all, and was equally quick to catch up with Rinkah as she retreated back to the barracks.
Outside the camp store, it surprised Orochi that it had gotten so dark. Her afternoon shopping must have taken longer than she realised or maybe winter was just stealing up all that precious time after lunch. It could be either way, even with spring just on the horizon.
“Hey Rinkah,” Orochi called out and Rinkah was polite enough to pause for her as she padded up to her, “how’s your day going?”
“Much, much better now.” Rinkah replied.
Orochi eyed up the box in Rinkah’s hands. She was holding it firmly so Orochi suspected whatever inside was valuable or breakable, maybe even both but the box itself was quite plain. Sturdy but plain-looking.
“Let me guess,” Orochi started and she put on mystical airs that made Rinkah laugh, “its because of that box.”
“The powers of a fortune teller, oh how us uninformed tremble.” Rinkah joked and Orochi laughed too. “But yeah, of course its because of the box. Or more accurately, what’s in it.”
“So… what is inside it?” Orochi asked, puckering her lips and widening her eyes in curiosity as she continued to walk with Rinkah to the barracks; they were all but on its doorsteps now.
“You’re telling me, you don’t know, court diviner?” Rinkah asked.
“I read the art on paper, not see through it literally.” Orochi defended herself.
Rinkah didn’t mind though and once she had her deep, throaty chuckle, her boisterous laughter turned mischievous, “Well then, guess you’ll be in for a surprise, c’mon, this kind of gift is better shared than not.”
“Sounds like my kind of gift then.” Orochi postured.
“That’s what I like to hear.” Rinkah grinned.
She and Orochi then scampered off to where Rinkah made her bed inside of the barracks. Rinkah’s set up was quite nice and even had a view of the Dragon Realms. It was perfect for this time of year, when the late winter was succumbing slowly to early spring making the twilight glimmer with snowmelt and dew all watched by the moon in the sky, no matter how pale or dark the sky was. This evening, it was dim but there was still a veil in front of the moon before dusk progressed any further than it did.
Rinkah sat down on the wooden decking that skirted the outside of her room and Orochi joined her. Rinkah then carefully sat down the box only to grab and rip it open with eager hands. The juxtaposition made Orochi giggle but she kept quiet as she really wanted to know what was inside that box and once Rinkah had torn away the paper safeguarding her keepsake, Orochi’s jaw dropped.
She couldn’t believe how beautiful Rinkah’s treasure was as she got it out of the box. Orochi had never seen craftsmanship like this. It was a tall bottle with a thin neck and a wide base. It was painted white with the most intricate and gorgeous of artistic detailing on its shell. It depicted monsters and fire and warriors of legend, or Orochi could only assume from the painting that had been done to it.
Rinkah glanced at Orochi and she swallowed a welt of bashfulness. She had never seen Orochi’s eyes sparkle quite like that so, she cleared her throat. Orochi could have jumped out of her skin but at least her greed, or whatever it was, seemed roped back in.
“You like it?” Rinkah asked as she continued to show the bottle off to Orochi.
“Like it?” Orochi exclaimed. “I love it. Is this from a family member or did they buy it?”
“All my clan is my family, thank you very much,” Rinkah corrected her, “so yeah. One of my uncles made it. Like, shaped and fired it. There ain’t no better kiln than the ones made an’ used by us in the Flame Tribe but his daughter would’ve been the one to paint it. They reckon she’s a prodigy when it comes to art.”
“I would believe that any day of the week.” Orochi gasped, marvelling at the bottle still.
   “Thanks.” Rinkah said with pride.
“So is it… just for decoration?” Orochi asked.
“‘Course not, what good’s a bottle of sake if its got no sake in it? But trust me, this one’ll be making it to my grandchildren’s grandchildren if I’m lucky. Filled, refilled, drank from. C’mon, have a cup wit’ me, Orochi.”
“Oh, I couldn’t, this seems really precious. A family heirloom in the making, I couldn’t take that away from you, not even for a sip.” Orochi hastily replied.
“Nonsense.” Rinkah said and she slapped Orochi on the back. “Everything tastes better shared. Victories, food, and liquor too. Trus’ me.”
   “If you insist.” Orochi replied.
Rinkah set down the bottle, the lacquer was shining in the late sunlight and early starlight. She then rummaged through the remnants of the box and its stuffing before drawing out two of the match cups.
Rinkah smiled and it was a rare soft smile from her, rather than her usual bawdiness or overconfidence. It came from a place of familial pride, perhaps even regret that she had to be so far away from home. She poured out the sake and it was nigh crystalline, Orochi noticed. She accepted the first poured out cup then waited for Rinkah to pour out to her own. In the meantime, Orochi’s eyes wandered back to the land and sky. It was the perfect seasonality for sake but maybe just too early in the night given that it was still a teensy bit day. Not that Rinkah appeared to mind in her excitement to have such an important gift in her hands.
In her reverie, Rinkah knocked on Orochi’s forearm with her knuckles, spilling a little bit of her drink and making Orochi wet. Orochi pouted at her but her cheek and her gall was too playful to be mad at, even mildly.
“Thank you for this drink.” Orochi said.
“Thank you muchly for the company.” Rinkah said.
“To the new spring and to the next summer!” Orochi and Rinkah agreed upon, their cups clinking together briefly, and with that, they both drank.
Rinkah guzzled down her shallow cup with ease, smacking her lips together in delight. That was the taste of home, after all. She could have drained the whole bottle then and there but a rare treasure of this calibre was to be savoured. Even if she could taste the homegrown rice and all the effort that went into making the sake and it really left her wanting more.
Orochi, however, had no time for such nostalgic thoughts. She’d downed hers too, just like Rinkah, and it left her sputtering. Her mouth felt like it was on fire. She’d never had spicy sake before, was that even possible? Her throbbing lips and burnt up tongue thought it so but damn if it didn’t light her up. It was addicting in a way the more mellow sake she was used to didn’t leave her.
“Oh, I should’ve told ya,” Rinkah said, amused with Orochi’s reaction, “this is our special Flame Sake, if it doesn’t put a fire in your belly, nothin’ will.”
“Th-The fire is lit. Don’t you worry.” Orochi stammered and even though she was sweating, she was smiling too, “I really like it, Rinkah.”
“Feels like you’ve skipped spring and gone straight for summer, huh?” Rinkah said.
“Y-Yeah, that’s a good way of putting it.” Orochi coughed into her hand.
“Spring’s a lot of good but you don’t want to be lazy during the change of seasons. This sake reminds us of that.” Rinkah said and she glanced at Orochi who was done with her coughing fit. “D’you wanna do this again next year? When I kept th’ next shipment…?”
“Rinkah, I’d love to join you drinking at the Flame Tribe, don’t think so defeatist, its’ not like you and doesn’t suit you, truth be told. The war’ll be over before autumn, don’t you worry.” Orochi assured her.
Rinkah shrugged, “Its jus’ the fighting never ends, y’know? I’m cocky but I don’t wanna be dumb about it.”
“Fair enough but still. Let’s have another drink. To… hm…” Orochi replied but her voice trailed off as she tried to think of something good and fitting to cheer on this next drink of Flame Tribe sake.
“To fortunes and friendships forged in fire.” Rinkah said.
Orochi nodded and soon enough, she was sculling more sake with Rinkah, arms interlocked. To exactly that: to fortunes and friendships forged in fire. May their fortunes be only good and may their friendship be only a boon unto them, the Flame Tribe, and Hoshido. Drinking under the day-night, late winter moon, they could only hope for many more years of this.

please keep going?
The Hoshidofam's genotype is Pegasus; Sakura and Ryouma share it as their secondary class and it's Hinoka's primary class. It's even Aqua's secondary class, showing the influence the Hoshido family had on her (this is why it's Shigure's base class and most likely why he has a Hoshidan name)
The outlier is, of course, perennial black sheep Takumi
Although Hinoka's promoted class can wield bows, she starts as a basic Pegasus Warrior--meaning that, unlike Camilla, it was never even imagined that Hinoka would try to claim the Fujin Yumi. The Conquest epilogue solidifies this; Hinoka only became queen when all male relatives were dead
Hinoka most likely picked Pegasus Warrior to train as because it's the ideal class for rescuing someone; fly in, fly out. Her secondary is also Spear Master, meaning that she's always naginata-focused; the naginata is often linked with women because it was a popular choice of wives defending households
The second is likely the same reason Oboro is a Spear Master. Oboro's secondary class, Apothecary, lets her access the closest thing Fates has to a Merchant class :')
Shinonome, on the third hand, is a Spear Master because it gets WTA over his father because he's a dick like that
The Kamuisexuals all have two extra classes, all representing different parts of their character
Ashura: Axe Fighter, a thuggish class that's Nohrian through-and-through, and Ninja, his original class in Kouga
Yukimura: Samurai and Priest, the base classes of Sumeragi and Mikoto, who he sees as parent figures
Yuugiri: Spellcaster to represent her close friendship with Orochi and Ninja because she was originally Kagerou to represent her previous role as retainer
Crimson: Knight and Outlaw. Stalwart defender, but also rebel.
Anna: Apothecary, because merchant, and Rod Knight, because Tricksters used staves in Awakening
Flora: Dark Mage and Mercenary, a nod to her being your enemy and changing sides. Incidentally, Felicia (who betrays Nohr) also has Mercenary. If a Buddy Seal is used, Felicia gains access to Dark Mage from Flora and Flora gets no benefit whatsoever. Just like real life :')
Izana: Samurai and Apothecary. He's a hard guy to get a handle on, but I think Samurai is supposed to represent his surprising fortitude (it's Ryouma's class, after all) and Apothecary how he's high as fuck his somewhat mercenary nature (staying neutral in the war)
Gunther: Mercenary and Wyvern Rider. Another betrayer.
Fuuga: Oni and Monk, a simple showing that he's a fierce fighter with a benevolent side. Incidentally, his base class is Samurai--that of his old friend, Sumeragi
Joker's Cavalier secondary represents his grudging affection for Gunther
Most children have their father's class set, occasionally with primary and secondary reversed (ie Leon is Dark Mage/Rod Knight and Foleo is Rod Knight/Dark Mage). Midoriko, Shinonome, and Lutz are the only oddballs
All three routes of Fates have differently-colored menu windows; Nohr and Hoshido disagree so much that they won't share something as fundamental as a text box
Ditto different promotion themes
All Hoshidan classes are written in kanji; all Nohrian classes are written in katakana, even if FE usually writes it in kanji (ie Mercenary), to represent how foreign the lands are to each other
My personal favorite example of how sharp this division feels is with Kamui's promoted class options; they're 白の血族 (lit White Blood, maybe localized to Dawn's Bloodline/Descendant) and ダークブラッド (Dark Blood, maybe Dusk's Descendant). Even if you can't read any Japanese, the shapes are just viscerally different
Fuuga, Flora, and Rinkah are all scions of their clans, represented by their similar ability names; Wind Blood, Ice Blood, and Fire Blood
Felicia, on the other hand, is loyal to Kamui first even though she's the favored daughter, and to represent that she's part of a skill family with Joker and Gunther instead

txctical-pursuit:
Just moments away from being sucked under, Corrin was able to slowly wrap around the spear. He was able to vaguely hear the two, but it was very muffled with all the thick mud weighting down on his body. All he could do was hope… pray that the two were strong enough to free him from the gunk’s thick, heavy embrace.
Meanwhile, even the slowest of movements now seemed to agitate the liquefied ground, as it then pulled his hands under, taking part of the spear down with it as the dragon prince held on tight. The muck burbling loudly in response to Oboro’s current attempt to save the manakete…
Once she was sure Corrin had a firm grasp on her naginata handle, Oboro began to pull back, he was certainly jammed in the pit, it was taking every ounce of strength she had to pull him out and not be dragged down herself. But even she was beginning to slip, hurriedly stepping back with her feet in quick motion trying not to be caught in the sand trap.
As her feet began to slip she felt rough hands grab onto her, the Seamtress almost immediately assuming an attack and attempting to elbow whoever came up behind her. “Fine! How about I let you both drown!” Rinkah grunted, reeling back on both Oboro and Corrin.
Before the Seamstress could apologize, she felt herself being pulled back again, and Corrin emerging from the bit... or at least his head and most of his upper body had surfaced.

My favorite Fire Emblem character is a very strong white-haired, axe-wielding woman; who has a red, black and gold color scheme; who is the daughter of a leader and who eventually takes on that leadership position herself; who lets her anger get the better of her sometimes; who greatly enjoys both fish and sweets; and who is often associated with flame imagery
But is it Rinkah, or is it Edelgard von Hresvelg

I caved and finally started a file using the male MU I made some time ago, just so I could have him marry Rinkah. Totally worth it, the two are so adorable together. My soft little dragon boy found the swole love of his life~ <3

Hello, Kameko! I have a question for you. How do you feel about Saizo marrying Charlotte and Kaze marrying Rinkah? Also, you are a very sweet and lovely woman!!
Tumblr media
“Thank you, dear! Now, with my sons. Heehee, they both like strong women, hm? One was a Nohrian woman and the other was the chieftan’s daughter of the Fire Tribe! I was surprised with BOTH of them. I do think it would be rather fun to visit the Fire Tribe one day, so I’m looking forward to that. I… suppose it would be fun to visit Nohr, as well. I’m not so sure how to think about that Charlotte girl. But I’ll trust Saizo’s judgement.”
