What are your ryomina headcanons? I've loved these two since I played P3 FES, and I'm so excited to get back into the fandom^^

as for headcanons, here's a "few" i that i tend to come back to a lot! my interpretations of them are influenced from both the source material and other's fanworks, so i've linked to them as i saw fit! hcs in no particular order under the cut because oops this got long (900 word bullet point list, mentions of reload content up to 1/1)

minato's hair is dyed blue (hair originally brown, you can see it in his roots!) and he has a beauty mark on under his left eye. i like mirror imagery and there's definitely a few arts i've rb'd that portray them this way :) (e.g. this one by feliichu and this one by marasschino)

as far as i'm concerned the bathhouse scene from the manga where ryoji's hair down = similar shape to minato? that is canon to me. this art from xierru is a fun depiction of hair down ryoji :D

ryoji is homeless. everyone say thank you foxmulder_whereartthou for this awesome fic it's why i have the headcanon! but like seriously. we have no idea where ryoji lives and i could believe this.

minato dying at the end of the game is sad to an outsider's POV BUT!!! ryomina gets to be together in death for the rest of their lives (this illustration from mafuwara is a gorgeous representation of them as nyx avatar + the seal)!

speaking of the seal, they are like telepathically communicating to me in the great seal together. (mymp3 had a comic wip with this. give it a looksie :D)

ryoji likes cuddling with minato because he's warm :) (something something orpheus has fire affinity, minato is warm by extension and ryoji is cold because he's death)

ryoji's camera roll is filled with pictures of minato! ryoji... loves life, to me. and i feel that photography and journaling are perfect ways of expressing gratitude and capturing the moments in life that are most important to you :3

my other favorite activity for these two is stargazing- i feel like it's something they could appreciate either in life or death (looking at the stars from the great seal...)! they do a bit of this in the fic eurydice's vow by crescentmoontea (P5R spoilers, takes place in third sem it's a very fun fic concept).

between ryoji and minato i feel like ryoji was the one who fell in love first- and it doesn't really click in place for minato that he loves ryoji until december hits (appriser reveal + ryoji transforming into thanatos). its about the realization that ryoji was with him for his whole life and that he gets him like no one else does.

ryoji is like a sad and wet puppy who is so scared minato won't like him back. he is so scared of being rejected by minato to me like. this boy straight up deflates after he does his "i know i said i wanted us to be friends, but... i actually want to be something more." / "what about you?" on 12/1 ???

AND SPEAKING of wet puppy ryoji. ryoji is like. every animal in the world to me. he's a bird. he's a cat. etc. and also ryoji knows every language in the world ever and uses it to express his love for minato. see this fic from superheroics to see what i mean.

both of them are lactose intolerant. "this isn't lactose, it's milk!" i definitely think ryoji would make himself sick eating ice cream and milk he doesn't know what lactose is. (i made a silly poll about this once and the tags were very entertaining.)

i see minato as transmasc or nonbinary depending on the day (schrodinger's headcanons babey they're simultaneously true and not true at the same time!!). either way he's not cis to me and ryoji is like. His Gender. anyway go read this fic by nail_gun for t4t ryomina :D !

ryomina are WEIRD GUYS TO ME!!! they are so strange and they understand each other better than anyone else because of the circumstances of their relationship!!! if you asked them to do the "i wonder what i taste like" meme i think they'd start biting each other (affectionate) tbh but that's just me.

after ryoji gives minato the music box in 12/31 on reload, minato listens to the music box every night in january. this boy has insomnia and also chronic illness to me (things that housing death does to you). but i think he finds comfort in the melody and memories he made with ryoji.

in general, i think it's fun to imagine minato taking ryoji to places and show him things he's interested in! i feel that ryoji takes a lot of interest in minato's life, this isn't really a hc because in reload, minato DOES give ryoji a tour of the school (11/9) and possibly port island (11/12). but ITS CUTE OK! (tangentially related fanwork: this series of doodles from vinnigami: 1, 2, and 3)

not a hc but minato's kindness is like the backbone of their relationship and i think we would not have the ryomina we know and love today if minato wasn't such a kind soul. oh minato.... we can learn so much from you... like ryoji did!

I can’t bring myself to do any deep dives into political podcasts or discussions, would you summarize the latest? What are the reactions post debate? Most of my coworkers are going to vote trump but they treat me (an obviously queer person) so kindly. It’s dispiriting.

hiya! preferencing everything i say here with a "this is an extremely close race and will be until the very end" disclaimer but! we are not in doom and gloom mode we are in determined hope mode imo

post debate: fox news anchors were saying on air immediately after the debate that trump lost. like straight up they COULD not spin it in a way that he won. harris challenged him to another debate like hours after and i think it was today where he was like "no i totally won 100% so im not doing another" which. makes him look like a coward running away from facing her again bc he and everyone else knows he lost. so that's fun! of course he could go back on that bc he switched between he would/wouldnt do this debate like 8 times leading up to it. u cant trust anything out of his mouth! who knew?

ANYWAYS so that post i rb'd earlier was true: about 1/4 trump voters said the debate made them reconsider their vote, and i thiiiink wapo cited 6% of trump voters DID change their vote post debate. debates dont traditionally have anything to do with election results but it might be a good indicator in this one. most undecided voters' stance is "we dont know enough about harris's positions/policies" bc her campaign is like. 1.5? 2? (i forget) months old. the debate was her chance to lay her policy out for a HUGE audience- i think it was 67 million people watching? whereas trump: everyone knows who he is and what his views are. he is a known figure and people have made decisions. she is not known. and her core message that debate was "i am not trump or biden, i'm a new way forward" which for all of the people who were not wanting to vote for either trump/biden (bc of policies or age or WHATEVER) is important. national polls are close with harris trending up basically since her campaign started, but the important polls are the swing state ones, which typically are either tied or harris up by a tinyyyy bit.

the important thing here is: trump has his base. they will vote for him no matter what. generally he's kind of capped off how many voters he can get. people who are undecided/abstaining wouldve committed to him by now. harris is the unknown here, which means she has the greatest potential for growth, esp among undecideds and abstaining voters. the general view is they want to know more and are open to learning more. she's only done the one big mainstream news media interview so far bc she's been uh. a little busy! between constant rallies and the dnc and debate prep and such, but she's also been doing (almost?) daily local radio interviews. extremely grassroots campaign stuff. but also she's gotten fuckin. liz and dick cheney's endorsements. and a lot of other republicans. AND ALSO one piece of extremely good post debate news: taylor swift's endorsement. i think i saw a number today where in the 24 hours since her post, over 400,000 people clicked the link to the voter registration website so. extremely encouraging

the maga push to make harris/walz seem super extremist is very funny and also not sticking at all bc walz is literally the most normal guy ever. and every time jd vance shows his face he says something even more self-incriminating. trump distances himself SO much from vance it's so funny. clown show party over there. trump keeps flip-flopping on signing an abortion ban bc the evangelicals will hate him if he doesnt but it's also an extremely extremely unpopular position so he can't really say anything about it without alienating part of his voters

keep donating keep talking to people keep volunteering! the more voters we get out the better chance we have. esp if you're in the south check your voter registrations. block anyone who encourages you not to vote. most importantly dont give in to the fear. it's ok and normal to be anxious and afraid of this election, but don't let it shut you down. seek news that doesn't just talk about trump, elevate news that talks about harris. remember- people know enough about him that they're committed to him already. letting people know about harris' policies is going to do much more for bringing undecideds into the fold than talking about whatever insane shit trump is on about on any given day. AND ALSO campaign and donate for every other democrat on the ballot. vote blue up and down. let's set harris up for success with a congress that'll actually let her do shit

I'm Native, I rlly don't need a lecture on what racism in fandom is. I've been dealing with it since I joined fandom. Especially if you yourself are coming to me as a white person(not an assumption, just lik "if that is the case").

Yes there are racist people everywhere in every fandom, that's kinda the whole point. I never said izzy antis aren't also racist, I'm not even an Izzy anti and I don't go out of my way to associate with them. Ppl have just labeled me and others "antis" bc they disagree with us.

If I've RB'd from one of the ppl who HAVE done things you mentioned (or other things like with the doxxing bs), I'm happy to know + remove that bc - again - I'm not an anti to begin with and I fully know there are horrible ppl on that end of things. But if thats not the issue here, then idk what u expect me to say to this unsolicted anonymous advice you think you're giving a yt person.

I don’t actually know if this is an “unpopular” opinion tbh but. I’ve seen several posts over my time in mash fandom about teaching Jamie Farr about Klinger’s gender identity/trans and nonbinary identity in general and they always rub me the wrong way.

It’s possible I’m mistaken (I’ve heard it said that Jamie Farr was the one that asked for Klinger to stop cross-dressing, but I’ve not found a source for this, and he’s not ever mentioned it in the multiple interviews he’s given since mash ended, at least to my knowledge).

But yeah basically none of the mash cast members are Unproblematic (they’re!! people!!) and I think Farr has a reputation as like, homophobic or transphobic or something when I think that’s really undeserved.

lol, i agree, that's kind of corny. i'm sure i've rb'd posts like that because i think they're silly and fun and i would never seriously consider explaining to an actor what they 'didn't get' about a character they played unless i was being paid to direct them.

i tend not to seek out the political views of creators unless i feel it could help me understand their work a bit more, and even then it's not something i rely on heavily. if you're saying that his asking to not wear dresses anymore is what people are going on when they say he's transphobic like, that's a huge leap imo.

my discomfort comes more from the idea that we're giving credit where it isn't due by claiming farr 'doesn't get' that klinger is a canonically trans icon (which i don't think i've seen anyone claim but tbh, and i've complained about this a lot recently, i have no fucking clue when people are talking about their headcanons and when they're talking about a narrative read).

the unspoken part of my 'klinger is canonically a rebel' post was that i wanted to point out that that's a real thing, and sometimes i think we're looking very hard for things to project onto our favourite characters that actually already exist, but in a different or less specific way. other times you're simply patting someone on the back who didn't ask for it, and doesn't deserve to be congratulated for whatever is being claimed they've done. i got no problem with gender and sexuality headcanons, but that's just one way to engage with a text, i'm providing alternatives that give me what i want in the realm of canon, which is less work than making up my own stuff and also acknowledges the efforts of the creators :)

i've also read he asked to stop wearing dresses because he didn't want his kids being made fun of - and that's fair. that might even be a legitimate concern for an actor to have today. it's important we still acknowledge that he was the 'man in a dress' - they knew that would get laughs they played into that, even if part of it was about his rebellion against the army. being willing to 'act crazy' by wearing a dress was a bankable character beat, few people were likely saying to themselves at the time 'hey, why is it crazy for a man to wear skirts?' - there's intent, and then there's impact. nowadays here on the insular tumblr dot com, people are calling klinger beautiful and attractive and inspiring because of his dresses, and i'm sure some people did back then too, but that's not what the creators were counting on happening.

Dungeon Meshi/Delicious in Dungeon is a new one that I know a few mutuals enjoy, so I will rb that.

Dragon Age series on occasion.

A good chunk of my life was centered around World of Warcraft, so not only do I often talk about WoW, but on occasion I will rb stuff from it.

Others that may find it's way being rb'd by me are Sesshomaru (if my username doesn't make that obvious), FFXIV, Studio Ghibli, The Sims, and a few different anime that I've enjoyed over the years.
