the story told in emilia pérez could have only been told about mexico and mexico only. cartel violence, drugs, narcoculture, forced disappearances, etc. look very different in other countries. zoe saldaña's response is so disappointing, this story couldn't have been about any other women, otherwise the story would've been totally different. to say mexico was not the heart of the story is to confirm this was in fact lazy and quite ignorant writing.
