The Reluctant Princess

Based on The Reluctant Bride 1866 by Auguste Toulmouche✨ a friend of mine suggested this prompt, and really popped off with this concept. The saddest part sleeping beauty is when her godmother‘s take her to the castle and prepare her to be a princess. They try to reassure her but she has just been stripped of her identity and agency. She never wanted to be a princess. So I have Flora, giving her a reassuring kiss on the forehead, Fauna imagining out loud what it would be like to be a princess, and Merryweather is the only one who actually sees Briar Rose’s sorrows and inner turmoil. I also added another master copy as a tapestry, (an illustration of Maleficent by Eyvind Earle) and it hangs quite literally over Aurora and adds an extra layer of foreboding.🖤 I stayed up till four in the morning working on this.🤠😂 It took me 13 hours total to finish it.

This is possibly the sweetest reaction to one’s own work I have come across in my entire life.

Those two are just… they are so… I mean, I can’t even… my chest feels like exploding…

They are so genuine. I have no other words to describe them. So invested in such a magical, pure way. So committed. So perfect. So moving.

Just look at their faces. The tension, the attentiveness... like they do not even know what’s happening next.

And Nic’s tears. I swear this woman does something visceral to me (and I am completely undoubtedly straight). But if someone doesn’t step up to claim her immediately, and start seeing the beauty inside this woman for real, male or female, I am gonna lose it cause it’s not freaking possibile to not fall in love with her head over heels.

And the way she leans onto to him. Who in turn has his eyes set on the screen like a random viewer with no ego whatsoever… that is the ultimate sexy trait I swear.

Oh, my heart. Just look at them all close to each other.
