give into things i (dont) want to [lee haechan]
bully! (yandere) stalker! Haechan x innocent! church girl!reader Part of the give into things i (dont) want to series. Word Count: 1.2k Inspired by this drabble made by @neocentral Warnings: mature themes, toxic/inappropriate behaviour, stalking, forcing??, slut shaming, masterbation, choking & breathplay?, hair pulling, manhandling, MDNI, there will be smut in part 2 [Pt.1] [Pt.2] Summery: bully!Haechan is secretly in love with you and loves pulling your hair as it feeds into his perverted fantasies. btw, donghyuk is haechan's real name © 2023 @neobomb. Unauthorized copying, translation, manipulation, or alteration of this work is strictly prohibited. All rights reserved.
Haechan is hopelessly in love with you, a secret he vowed to take to his grave. However, his misguided attempts to gain your attention had spiraled out of control. What began as innocent teasing morphed into malicious intent. He has gone too far now. There is no going back. Over the years, he subjected you to relentless bullying: mocking you with derogatory names, spreading false rumors, and cornering you against his locker to threaten you. For as long as he had known you, he couldn't recall a single moment when he had treated you kindly.
“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to..” he loves hearing you plead for forgiveness. Tears welled in your eyes as he pulled your long luscious hair, your eyes looking up at him with an innocence he couldn't ignore.
“A slut like you should know when to keep their dirty mouth shut.” he says, looking down on you. You looked like a mess. A hot mess. You’re on the floor, tears running down your face as heavy breaths left your lungs after the assault. When he goes home, he would picture this exact image of you in his head while mercilessly stroking his dick. He would imagine ramming his dick into you while pulling your hair, forcing you to meet his gaze. It was the primary reason he enjoyed pulling your hair during confrontations.
Everyday, he would follow you home after school. It didn't appear unusual since his house was only a few blocks away from yours. You never thought much of it. Each time you entered the safety of your home, you assumed he would just keep going until he reached his own. But oh…how you were wrong.
Haechan would always linger around you at a close proximity. Your bedroom is on the first floor, facing a large oak tree, his favorite hiding spot. Peeking through the leaves, he watches you through your bedroom window. You’re sitting on your bed, reading a book. You look so peaceful. So beautiful. Whenever your hair gets in the way, you tug the strands behind your ears, revealing more of your neckline each time. Occasionally, he would take photographs of you as you undress, showing it to his friends as "evidence" of your supposed slutty behavior, but primarily keeping them for his own twisted satisfaction later on.
Haechan knows better than everyone that you’re anything but a slut. He doesn't even think that you have had your first kiss yet. Over the past year, he's spread rumors about you sleeping with countless older men, intending to dissuade other boys from showing interest in you. In truth, you're a devout church-goer with a deep love for immersing yourself in books and fiction. But still, he loves calling you a slut. The humiliation that marks your face each time he calls you those names does wonders to him.
—
An intense heatwave has gripped the town. The scorching sun felt like it was searing your skin as you used a book to fan yourself. This summer break, aside from working at your cousin Kun's restaurant, you hadn't accomplished much. During your shifts, Haechan would consistently appear, each time accompanied by a different girl. What a manwhore, you thought to yourself.
“If you feel as though he is bothering you, I can take his table. Just slice the salmon for me and keep an eye on the fryer.” Jaehyun offers, extending his knife to you. As your fingers lightly touch, a swarm of butterflies stirs in your stomach. You've harbored feelings for Jaehyun for some time. He's tall, amiable, strikingly handsome, and an exceptional chef. He embodied everything you desired in a boyfriend. Though only a few years older, he appeared to have everything figured out.
From a distance, Haechan observed your exchanges with Jaehyun. Not paying any attention to the girl he was on a date with. He took note of your hearty laughter at Jaehyun's jokes and the way your face flushed crimson with every compliment he paid you. Saying Haechan was jealous would be a severe understatement; he was profoundly possessive over you.
—
The community you live in organized a grand gathering, and by chance, your parents had offered to host the entire event in your backyard. Such events were never to your liking as you would panic at the social interactions. Worst of all, lee donghyuk was present at the event. You seek refuge in your room, after hours on end, having to endure awkward conversations.
“Why did you cut your hair, Y/N?” Haechan stands in front of your bedroom door. He stared at you intensely, noticing how your hair falls right at your shoulder, revealing your pronounced collarbones. He suspected you might have cut your hair based on the conversation he had overheard between you and Jaehyun a few days ago, where Jaehyun expressed his preference for girls with shoulder length hair. It seemed evident to him that you were attempting to align with Jaehyun's preferences, which angered him greatly. “Yes, why do you care?”
“Is it because you can’t just grab onto it as easily anymore?” The words you just uttered struck him with the realization that you might have uncovered his dirty little secret. He restrained himself from showing any emotion. Keep it cool. Keep it cool. You’re probably just being paranoid, he tells himself “Huh, What a big mouth. Why would you say that?”
“You obviously have something against me. I mean, every day at school, you pull my hair and shove me against your locker," you state, setting your book on the surface of your nightstand. He steps into your room, wearing a deeply unsettling grin, and closes the door behind him.
"Why do you think you can just come into my room, DongHyuck?" You ask sharply, rising swiftly from your bed. You urgently sought an escape from the situation, but Haechan's imposing stature blocked your exit.
“You’re not going anywhere, Y/N.” He gets a rough grip around your neck, pushing you into your bookshelf. Once again, he noticed the familiar panic in your eyes, a sight he disturbingly loves.
“You think I won’t be able to man-handle you just because you cut your hair short. Well, think again.” His grip around your neck gets tighter and tighter. You were no longer registering his words. His words became a distant echo as your mind retreated to a different realm. He has never grabbed onto your neck before. It was certainly a new sight for him, a sight he was going crazy for. The way your hands grab onto his wrist, desperately trying to ease his grip, and the way your eyes almost fall shut by the intensity of the situation. It all turned him on so much.
He gradually loosened his hold on your neck, observing as you gasped for air and color that returned to your face. As you caught your breath, Haechan abruptly pressed his lips against yours. The fervor of the kiss was overwhelming. He bit down on your lips with force, leaving a faint metallic taste behind. His patience has ultimately run out.

This happened a little over four years ago, but fuck you to the random lady I didn't know who tried to fire me without even knowing I exist
Okay so, I was a new hire, a few months into a job at a retail chain that's primarily grocery, but I worked in the apparel department. I was still being introduced to work tasks, and my availability was pretty flexible, so I was simultaneously learning how to do both morning and evening duties at the same time (not typical because most people do one or the other, but I was making a very quick reputation as both a quick learner and hard worker, and I had almost zero issues with customers because I was so friendly).
Well. One day while I was working the register for my section, a coworker approached me while taking an out-of-store call (we'll call her S). She asked me, "Hey Anon, did you put an item on hold for someone yesterday?"
Our store lets you call ahead to have an item put on hold if it's in stock, up until closing time the day after the call was made. Nobody had asked me to put anything on hold the prior day, so I said as much.
This confused S, because the customer she was on the line with said that an employee named "Anon" had claimed to put something on hold for her, but when she came in today we didn't have the item for her (yes, she was complaining over the phone rather than in-store). S had apparently checked with other employees prior to approaching me, and nobody had had anyone approach them asking for a hold item, let alone had to say we didn't have it. But I guess this lady wanted me in particular fired for not having something in the backroom for her, even though I'd never interacted with her.
Of course I was nervous. I was new, hardly out of my teens, and at my first regular job, at a company I'd come to learn was notorious for taking even the most outlandish customer claims very seriously.
But luckily, the lady slipped up. She'd thought that S put her on hold to find me, but really she'd just covered the phone mic with her hand. So, she overheard the lady say to someone that must have been in the room with her that she "didn't even know if there WAS an Anon at this store, but how it would be SO funny if there was and they actually got fired."
So this bitch.
This BITCH.
Had called up some random Med Fryer, to file a complaint about an employee she didn't even know EXISTED and just happened to correctly guess a name (it's a common one), because she was bored and got her kicks out of ruining random employees' livelihoods.
Needless to say S hung up after that and let management know someone was calling and making false complaints, so nothing ever came of it. But good god after all these years FUCK that lady. Hopefully she didn't ever actually get anyone fired what the fuck

Splatfest is over! I hope you all had fun. I primarily played Tri-Turf as much as I could, but I did manage to squeeze in an 100x battle in the last thirty minutes!
Shoutout to my fellow Fryers Rhi and Sammy, as well as our rando.
And now that it's over, go to Splatsville and listen to Daybreaker Anthem, the new song by Deep Cut that plays after a Splatfest. It's genuinely one of the best songs in the entire series.

I didn’t realize at first but-
Church and Jorge are perfect counters to San and Dei 😭 (I mean obviously I’m keeping them bc I love making things difficult for my faves)
oh thats FUNNY oh my god.
i think sanfo could handle church pretty well, especially considering church’s setup is primarily mono-type. but the moment jorge exists in his general proximity its just. lmao rip
and deimo could theoretically handle jorge but um. church is to deimos like what a kfc fryer is to a rat.
but god. its funny that sanford and deimos get their ass handed to them in terms of pokemon, but they absolutely demolish church&jorge in M:PN. its some fucky yin yang and i love that
#man i love this kind of stuff sm#AUs my beloved#also consider hank and tricky fighting.#madness combat#pokemon

i haven't actually seen anything to say that the person accusing horner is a woman? where did you get that from?
hi! sorry, it took me a while to reply to this.
quick note: the post that i made initially was in regard to the information that i had access to at the time, which indicated it was a female employee who made the accusations. it was primarily intended as a critique of how the whole situation is getting grouped into the greater "silly season" narrative and centralizing Horner and his achievements, while glazing over the fact that there is actually a legitimate investigation taking place.
i've done my best to try and compile some of the stories coming out about this but please keep in mind that a) it's a developing situation, and b) there's lots that hasn't been released to the public yet.
early on, the majority of the news coming out was via Dutch/German sources (primarily De Telegraaf), so a lot of initial information was relayed via translations done by people on social media.
via @/scuderiafemboy on X — @/leclercsletters and @/fiagirly also posted significantly about this
following that, i did some of my own searching/scrolling and found these two articles (snippets shown below) that indicated the complaint came from a female employee at Red Bull.
via 'Christian Horner accused of inappropriate behaviour by female colleague' by Matt Lawton (The Times UK) — *this article is paywalled*
via 'Christian Horner subject to Red Bull investigation over ‘inappropriate behaviour’' by Kieran Jackson (The Independent)
however, i will say that now there's more coming out now (ie: within the past few hours) suggesting that the complaint is more about his "aggressive management style" than anything else. this is still a bit unclear though, because plenty of people are questioning why Red Bull (+ parent company) would launch an independent investigation into something that is strictly of that manner.
via 'Red Bull investigating F1 team's Christian Horner over alleged misconduct toward team employee' by Jenna Fryer (The Toronto Star)
basically, the situation is ongoing and there's a lot that hasn't been clarified yet. Sky Sports made a video speaking a bit about the investigation, but it pretty much relays the same information that's been circulating since the morning.
via @/SkySportsF1 on X
please remember that it's important to do your own research as well! i'm happy to compile some of this stuff here but there's also no way i can keep up with all of it unfortunately, so i'd recommend finding additional sources online if you're curious :)

Part 1 of ?! Gregory C And The Food Expediancy
Slimy wriggling little bugger, that's what the folks up there would call me surely, Gregory thought.
As the–quite aptly described—slimy wriggling little bugger, slinked through the S.I.T steam tunnels.
I'm safe here, he thought, no one came down here anyway, no one would be around to look at me.
The wet eyed fellow was indeed a sight to behold, teeth like broken glass and a pockmarked face.
Though none of which would be of concern to any passersby, Gregory's face hidden primarily by leagues of dripping hair, like seaweed on his head.
His unfortunate complexion further under mystery by the trenchcoat and gloves he'd bummed out of the trash, no one could know, they would hate him
There was no more certain a thing than that, if anyone knew what he was, he would be shunned.
An outcast among outcasts thrown in the fryer.
Taking a moment to regroup his wandering train of thought, Gregory reminded himself of his mission.
Buy the food, don't draw attention, get out, the less than smooth to say mantra kept him calm
Somewhat at least, his nerves were still on high alert, scoping out for predators between the kelp.
Gah, between the grass, this was land, no ocean talk Gregory, he scolded himself in a harsh tone.
If he wanted to fit in he'd have to nix all of that fishy lingo, this world was harsh to outsiders.
He knew that for a fact, having nearly never interacted with a human, their eyes seemed to gouge chunks from his flesh with a hooked stare.
Gregory never wanted anyone to look at his body ever again, he sometimes liked to imagine he was simply a floating head, gliding across the earth.
The idea of someone, looking, seeing, or even.. touching him, it made his scaly flesh prickle Iridly.
Everywhere he felt the hands, imprinted on his skin like a tattoo, no matter how hard he scrubbed there they laid, as if they'd been branded onto him.
He hated to think about, them, the men, strong hands and scary words, that was why I must remain here, thought Gregory, safe from them.
This spiral of despair was shockingly interrupted by a high pitched *SQUEAK* right beside him.
It seemed a mouse had made its home here in these halls just as Gregory, he envied the squeaker
Small enough to go unnoticed, skilled enough to carve out its own living, this rodent held a score in a power of ten above Gregory's
The mouse however, didn't hear his thoughts, as one can expect, and likely wouldn't have gotten it if it could, it simply squeaked again.
Pointing right towards its stomach in an animated fashion, "you, want cheese..?" The fish boy asked, croaking with unused vocal cords readjusting to speech, it wasn't often he spoke aloud.
Instead of suddenly being able to speak perfect English, it just continued pointedly gesturing.
Gregory sighed, the exhale making his gills flutter and squelch wetly, another gross difference.
Not having any cheese, he wished he could explain that to his new little friend, "I'm sorry.. I don't.."
This equally hungry fellow reminded Gregory of his original goal, that's right, go to the resturant.
Sorry, he thought, striding beloft the rat, leaving it looking mildly dejected to go back into the wall.
Gregory took care to avoid the scattered rocks and loose nails across the floor, certainly a downside of this area being so semi permanently deserted..
The halls of these steam tunnels were littered with old rusted doors, most of them being locked.
He walked past several, bellowing the hum of large machinery or hushed words between people.
A door to the freezer, whirring audible blizzards, and in contrast the low fwoom of a boiler hissed.
A padlocked door, said lock rattling in an alarming manner, the growls of some awful beast behest it.
A door with the label scratched off, hearing loud, strange zaps, and mechanical raggling, he swiftly moved past, finally reaching his desired entrance.
Mentally readying himself, stood before the door with an unhelpful skull and crossbones stenciled across the top, nearly intimidating him to leave.
But no, this was where he'd get what would likely be his only meal that day, his stomach growled.
A low and rumbling refrain against his own fears.
Part 1 of END, Part 2 Coming Soon, The Fishy Adventures Of Gregory Chisholm Will Continue!

Researchers just found substantial evidence for something conservative scholars and criminal lawyers have long suspected.
‘Systemic racism,” at least in the criminal-justice system, has been comprehensively measured. This, following my recent review of Cory Clark and Lee Jussim’s excellent analysis of academic censorship, to which I myself contributed the odd word, will be my second “academic findings” article in a row for National Review. Get excited!
This week’s topic is at least as important as last week’s. In a recent quantitative meta-analysis, Stetson University’s Christopher Ferguson and Sven Smith found substantial evidence for something conservative scholars and criminal lawyers have long suspected. Simply put, based on models that adjust for social class as a variable, there appears to exist little or no “systemic” racial bias in the U.S. criminal-justice system.
Overall, the pair’s meta-analytic review of some 51 studies — which, combined, included around 120 distinct effect tables — concluded that “neither class nor race biases for criminal adjudications for either violent or property crimes could be reliably detected.” For drug crimes such as crack sales, some evidence of bias was found, but “effect sizes were very small” — often on the order of a few percentage points — and may be primarily artifacts of the weaknesses of past studies.
Ferguson and Smith note that the “better quality studies” that were included in this complex analysis were “less likely to produce results supportive of [racial] disparities.” Studies with “citation bias” toward one side of the debate about whether racism exists in the modern criminal-justice system — generally, a bias in a liberal direction — were far more likely to find racism than were unbiased fair-test studies, and they “consistently produced higher effect sizes.” Only the innermost hearts of a few academics truly know why that is — although the findings of my last piece might provide a clue. Overall, the Stetson pair concludes: “Narratives of ‘systemic racism’ as relates to the criminal justice system do not appear to be a constructive framework from which to understand this nuanced issue.”
On some level, and this is not to minimize a top piece of work, these findings seem gobsmackingly obvious in 2023. As Ferguson and Smith put it, “the civil rights movement was successful in creating equality before the law.” Since then, they add, “evidence from psychological studies demonstrates major reductions in both explicit and implicit racial prejudice.”
More bluntly put, about 40 percent of Americans are now members of minorities, and 90-odd percent of whites do not test as racist when this is measured by any real metric such as opposition to interracial marriage. Hell, roughly 30 percent of cops are black and Hispanic — and so are more than 10 percent of lawyers (before we throw in Asian and Jewish Americans). Setting CRT mumbo jumbo to the side, where it belongs, there seems to be no reason to expect black or Irish-American big-city judges to treat (say) Puerto Rican teen goons differently from Italian or Bosnian ones. And, overall, they do not.
Serious analyses, of the kind that Ferguson and Smith conducted, frequently come to similar conclusions across a variety of sectors. Back in 1990, the economist June O’Neill took a look at the black–white income gap — then about 18 percent annually, and always attributed to racism. She concluded that fairly simple adjustments for variables such as age (the modal age of a black American is 27, versus 58 for a white Yank), region of residence, test scores, and years (rather than quality) of education shrink this gap to roughly 1 percent. Similarly, in policing, Harvard economist Roland Fryer’s multifactorial analysis, which included controls for the behavior of suspects and racial groups’ rate of contact with police, concluded that white suspects are actually 27 percent more likely than black suspects to be shot by cops . . . rebutting the entire Black Lives Matter narrative almost in passing.
This brings us to a key point. Life, much like good analysis, is multivariate. People who differ from one another in terms of a major factor such as race or religion are also very likely — indeed almost certain — to differ as well in terms of other characteristics, like those O’Neill studied. Racism occurs only when individuals are treated differently entirely and solely because of the single factor of their race.
It’s worth spelling this out. An analysis of mortgage-loan rates could be said to have uncovered racism only if large and statistically significant gaps in lending rates to racial groups remained after a statistical adjustment for black/Caucasian/Asian differences in age, region, income, wealth, credit score, and probably default rates. Similarly, any study of arrest rates (or crime rates) by race has failed to demonstrate the existence of bias — and therefore is pretty much useless for our purposes — if it has not made the obvious adjustments for age and social class.
By this standard, a rather amazing amount of past research — journalistic “studies” and some academic work — is pretty much useless. As Ferguson and Smith note, in a surprising number even of the better-known studies in their field of criminal justice, “control variables are comparatively lacking. . . . Many studies that examine race issues don’t control for class” (emphasis mine). “Most” studies control for “age and prior criminal record,” but not all.
Interestingly, very few papers on criminal sentencing control for what may be the most critical variable of all — whether your lawyer was a public defender or private counsel and how good he was. Criminal justice is hardly unique in this regard: Conservative éminence grise Thomas Sowell devoted an entire book to debunking scholars’ and reporters’ cross-disciplinary trend of simply attributing any disparity between groups — black vs. white maternal mortality, for example — to racism. But that particular dragon even the great man could not slay.
Why is the univariate problem that Ferguson and Smith and Sowell describe so well, and which I have been known to gripe about myself, so prevalent? There are many reasons, one suspects. Many writers, especially in the journalistic sector, are almost certainly well intentioned but unskilled with advanced statistical tools such as Stata. Others likely notice real racism in today’s online public squares, jump to the premature conclusion that this kind of tawdry stuff explains serious decisions that adults such as bankers make, and don’t test for much else.
But it is hard not to notice a potential third factor. An entire sector of the economy — within which fall most left-aligned think tanks and lobbying groups and more than a few academic departments (“postcolonial studies,” anyone?) — is dependent on the continued existence of old-school bigotry in the United States. Old warhorses such as Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow Push and Al Sharpton’s National Action Network never really went anywhere, and they have been joined at the trough by more than 100 BLM groups led by Patrisse Cullors’s Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation. Even sexual-rights groups now host seven-figure fundraisers centered on professional-looking white papers (I responded to the Human Rights Campaign’s claims of “trans genocide” here). This lucrative grift is quite hard to defend in the near absence of real and serious bias — and it might often be tempting for smart activists or even ideologically inclined academics to go out and create some.
The rest of us, however, shouldn’t go along with the radicals (or Thuh Science™) if their ideas and methods are simply bad and unscientific. To quote Ferguson and Smith one more time, when it comes to understanding at least the major and nuanced issue they study, “narratives of ‘systemic racism’ . . . do not appear to be a constructive framework.”

Highlights
It is commonly believed ethnicity predicts criminal justice outcomes in the US.
For most crimes, evidence for racial disparities is weak.
Very small disparities appear to persist for drug crimes only.
Academia has often worryingly overstated the evidence for racial disparities in the US criminal justice system.
Abstract
It is widely reported that the US criminal justice system is systematically biased in regard to criminal adjudication based on race and class. Specifically, there is concern that Black and Latino defendants as well as poorer defendants receive harsher sentences than Whites or Asians or wealthier defendants. We tested this in a meta-analytic review of 51 studies including 120 effect sizes. Several databases in psychology, criminal justice and medicine were searched for relevant articles. Overall results suggested that neither class nor race biases for criminal adjudications for either violent or property crimes could be reliably detected. For all crimes, effect sizes (in terms of r) for Black vs White comparisons were.054, for Latinos vs Whites, 0.057 and for Asians vs Whites −0.028. There was significant heterogeneity between studies, particularly for Asian vs White comparisons. Effect sizes were smaller than our evidentiary threshold, indicating they are indistinguishable from statistical noise. For drug crimes, evidentiary standards were met, although effect sizes were very small. Better quality studies were less likely to produce results supportive of disparities. Studies with citation bias produced higher effect sizes than did studies without citation bias suggesting that researcher expectancy effects may be driving some outcomes in this field, resulting in an overestimation of true effects. Taken together, these results do not support beliefs that the US criminal justice system is systemically biased at current. Negativity bias and the overinterpretation of statistically significant “noise” from large sample studies appear to have allowed the perception or bias to be maintained among scholars, despite a weak evidentiary base. Suggestions for improvement in this field are offered. Narratives of “systemic racism” as relates to the criminal justice system do not appear to be a constructive framework from which to understand this nuanced issue.
==
So, here's the question: will you accept the evidence and the conclusions drawn from it, or continue to believe based on faith?

Homecooking [May ed]
Be proud of me :P I cooked more this month haha
I also did some night shifts. .. & lived thru over a week of really poor air quality. I shouldn’t be complaining, considering ppl have lost homes, businesses, & community facilities/shops but it was just so bad. It’s bad for me, so I could only imagine what it’s like for ppl with respiratory or heart problems. Every yr there are wildfires here but I read somewhere that this is the 1st time AB beat BC in ‘starting’ of wildfires. Like our Albertan wildfires aren’t supposed to start yet but we had a few days where temperature was 10degrees above average, plus the winds. .. Yikes!!
^ that’s the sun at 0815h o_O !!!!
Now that short track season, primarily the World Championships ended. .. the sports event I was looking to was the Sudirman Cup for badminton. It’s held every 2 yrs & this yr, the venue is was in Suzhou - China’s 1st international badminton event in over 3 yrs! Can’t say much about the venue bcos I only see the inside & it’s focussed on a court lol but BWF inserts travel-themed clips in the opening of every live so I got to see some of the views in Suzhou. I’ve actually been there! Anyway, what a wild ride!!! I won’t give spoilers but the CHN vs JPN semi-finals. .. YOU NEED TO WATCH IT! At least the highlights. So much drama!! The finals... I was a little disappointed. I thought KOR vs CHN would be a tight battle but . ..
Alrighty, let’s get to the food~
Random flour noodle with choy sum & egg.
The same package of noodle with choy sum & Busan fish cake.
lol you can tell these were my post-night shift meal... I tend to go for simpler stuff, & in smaller portions bcos I eat 6 times when I’m working nights...
Air fryer egg plant. You may think it’s weird.. . but I really like it.
Fettuccine with tomato + vegetarian sausage
Udon with capa cabbage & grey squash. Another one of those night shift stretch meals.
Mom’s air fryer chicken
vs .. my air fryer chicken
*she added Chinese soy sauce to it for a better colour hence why it’s so dark
There were not as good I thought. It’s gotta be the plain Costco fries :P
Thick rice noodles + egg + cucumber, seasoned with Korean tartar sauce & fish sauce (the green cap squid one). This is probably the most randomest thing I ‘put together’ this month haha! Usually the thin vermicelli noodles are used but I used the thick soup kind of rice noodles. Then the combo of tartar sauce + fish sauce... But trust me, it was good!
Using the raclette grill for the 1st time this year
Air fryer ribs with a hamburger bun
A closer look. I used the Montreal steak spice with some extra fresh ground black pepper. Yum~
Sujebi with baby bokchoy, seaweed, white beech mushrooms, & an egg~
Udon with napa cabbage, carrot thins & egg.
May book #1: The Obsession. It was quite an easy read (recommended to me via Chapters recommendation based on my purchase history lol). I didn’t think it was ‘thrilling’ enough for be called a thriller but that’s bcos this is a YA fiction novel so the intended audience is YA. The storyline itself was well thought out but was predictable. I thought the ending was a bit rushed. Read it for relaxation~ I rate it 7.8/10~
May novel #2: Just Haven’t Met You Yet. A rom-com that could easily be made into a movie or drama. I thought the main girl was a pathetic - the type that “I don’t know what I want; my life has been a lie”. You know, the aimless, not driven type of lead that you can’t relate to. Or maybe you can *shrugs* I bought it bcos it begins with “suitcase switch-up” & I thought, “ooooh totally K-drama plot”. I enjoyed it overall; with some slow moments. I really like the main girl’s boss. 8.0/10 (lower than expected)
May novel #3: the Eighth Girl. What a fantastic debut novel by this author~ this novel was very thrilling & dark. It’s about a girl with DID & she goes through things.. . The plot itself is simple to understand but I love twists & novels that make me think. This was one of those. It’s better to start reading without reading up on it so I will leave it here!

Thanksgiving Safety Tips for a Happy, Stress-Free Holiday
Thanksgiving is a cherished time for gathering with loved ones, sharing delicious meals, and making lifelong memories. However, with all the activity, it’s easy to overlook some important safety considerations. At Kramer Insurance, we care about your well-being and want to ensure your holiday is filled with joy, not unexpected incidents. Here are some essential Thanksgiving safety tips for your home, kitchen, and travel plans:
1. Kitchen Safety First
The kitchen is the heart of Thanksgiving preparations, but it’s also where most holiday-related accidents occur. Keep these kitchen safety tips in mind:
Stay Attentive: Never leave the stove or oven unattended while cooking.
Child-Free Zone: Create a three-foot “kid-free” zone around the stove and hot appliances to prevent burns.
Fire Prevention: Keep flammable items like oven mitts and dish towels away from the stove.
Use Timers: Set timers to help you track cooking times and avoid burned food or forgotten dishes.
2. Fire Safety Precautions
Thanksgiving sees an increased number of home fires, primarily due to cooking. Take these steps to minimize the risk:
Install Smoke Alarms: Ensure you have functioning smoke detectors in the kitchen and nearby areas.
Fire Extinguisher Readiness: Keep a fire extinguisher easily accessible and know how to use it.
Deep Fryer Caution: If you plan to deep fry a turkey, do it outdoors on a flat, non-flammable surface, and never leave it unattended.
3. Travel Safety Tips
Thanksgiving travel is notorious for heavy traffic and challenging weather conditions. Stay safe on the road with these precautions:
Plan Ahead: Check traffic and weather reports before heading out and allow extra time for travel.
Stay Alert: Avoid drowsy or distracted driving, and make sure to take breaks on long trips.
Prepare Your Vehicle: Ensure your car’s tires, brakes, and battery are in good condition, and pack an emergency kit with essentials like water, snacks, and blankets.
4. Home Security Reminders
If you’re traveling, don’t forget to secure your home:
Lock Up: Double-check that all doors and windows are locked before leaving.
Lights On: Use timers for lights to create the appearance of someone being home.
Trusted Neighbor: Inform a trusted neighbor of your travel plans so they can keep an eye out for any suspicious activity.
Following these safety tips, you can focus on what truly matters this Thanksgiving—quality time with loved ones and peace of mind.
Need more peace of mind? Contact Kramer Insurance for comprehensive coverage to protect your home, auto, and loved ones. Call us at (765) 896-8852 or visit kramerinsuresit.com to learn more.

Can Air Fryer Cause Cancer? The real Fact Air fryers have gained popularity for their ability to produce fried-like foods with less oil. They work by circulating hot air to cook food, creating a crispy layer akin to frying. Consumers often choose air fryers as a healthier alternative, reducing the intake of oils linked to various health issues. Fears concerning air frying and cancer primarily relate to the potential formation of acrylamide, a chemical that can develop in certain foods during high-heat cooking processes. But, research indicates that air frying might actually result in lower levels of this compound compared to deep frying. The convenience and potential health benefits of using an air fryer have made it a favorite in health-conscious kitchens. Still, users are advised to follow guidelines, such as not overheating the appliance and avoiding cooking foods to the point of burning, to minimize any potential risks. 8 Electric Kitchen Appliances to Elevate Your Culinary Experience
Can you imagine a kitchen without any appliances? It seems weird and empty, making the place useless. With this, invest in high-quality kitchen appliances that an emergency electrician Central Coast will approve. They provide convenience and efficiency, and change many things in how people cook their food. Delicious meals are achievable with the help of these inventions, so ensure to have any of these in your kitchen:
Blender
Just like its name suggests, blenders are used for blending fruits, vegetables, yoghourt, and other ingredients you will need for your smoothies and shakes. You can also use it to puree cooked vegetables or fruits to create sauces and soups. If you have a baby who still does not eat solid food, baby food can be made with the help of a blender. Dips? Spreads? Frozen treats? Your blender will be there to help you with those!
Microwave Oven
Another popular kitchen appliance is a microwave oven. It works using microwave radiation to heat and defrost food quickly. If you have leftovers or pre-cooked meals you want to eat, there is no need to turn on the stove because a microwave oven can give you the heated food you need. Whether it is rice, pasta, vegetables, or meat, you can put them in the microwave oven to heat them. Other people use a microwave oven to make popcorn that is already in containers or bags, and it is also okay.
Electric Kettle
Boiling water is made easy with the help of an electric kettle. Years ago, people relied on traditional kettles to heat water and use it for cooking and bathing. But now, there is no need for that process. Aside from boiling water, you can also easily prepare hot beverages, like coffee and tea. They can be heated at different temperatures, so learn about this factor.
Toaster
People who love to eat bread will understand having a toaster at home. As its name states, you can make a toast, primarily bread, giving the food some crispness and browning. These two can add flavour and crunch, making it more appetising. If you are into toasting sandwiches, you may also take advantage of this appliance.
Coffee Maker
People who are into coffee know the importance of making their coffee. From brewing coffee to drinking it, you will taste the difference between homemade and store-bought. It is convenient, especially for those who do not want to go out of the house or save money from food deliveries just to get coffee. Owning a coffee maker can also give you the freedom to do some customisation in your drink until you create a signature coffee drink.
Food Processor
When you watch food tutorials online, one of the things you will see being used by the influencer is a food processor. They use it to chop and dice vegetables, fruits, nuts, and herbs to save time and energy doing the manual chopping. It has slicing discs or blades that can be useful in guaranteeing uniform thickness in your food, especially when making salad and garnishes.
Air Fryer
If you ask people about their dream kitchen appliance, the most common answer you will get is an air fryer. This appliance has changed many things in cooking food because it promoted less oil or fat. If you aim for healthier yet tasty cooking, getting an air fryer is worth it. Though it can be pricey compared to other cooking appliances, you can claim that it is good for its price because you can also use it for frying, baking, roasting, grilling, and reheating.
Rice Cooker
Wherever you are in the world, you can say that rice is important. To create perfectly cooked rice, a rice cooker is needed. Automatic and even, it can make rice to be in a balanced heat, texture, and colour. It is convenient if you love rice to be with your meals. One feature that many people love about rice cookers is their warm function.
Knowing your kitchen appliances can help you set up your kitchen and think of new meals where you can use them. However, before buying one for your home, ensure that the brand is trusted by many. Electricians must also approve of it to ensure you are not wasting your money and that safety is guaranteed.

Weekly Roundup April 28 2024
I've decided I don't want to spend $300 per year on a website builder, so I'll do a weekly roundup here for free on Tumblr.
Check out all the new books from indie and small press authors on Readers Roost.
If you're looking for a line/copy editor and proofreader for a project, click the cost-effective editing and book reviews link at the top of the blog. I currently have openings for new projects in May, but these close quickly. My contact information is in the post if you're interested in booking me for a future project.
The April PAD Challenge/NaPoWriMo are coming to an end for this year. I have poetry prompt posts to inspire you. I need to get my submissions ready for Soul Ink 2. The deadline is April 30. If you have poems you'd like to submit, head to the Dragon Soul Press website to learn more.
They are also accepting submissions for this year's horror drabble anthology with a deadline of May 31, and you can learn more about their forthcoming short story anthologies for this year and next year.
I've been working on a Lovecraftian fantasy fairy story starring my OG OC Yadira Root (Nyarlathotep's daughter with Queen Nathicana) and had been hoping to submit it to the Trickster anthology. However, if I don't think it's up to scratch, I'll submit it to next year's fairy-themed anthology.
You can check out my story (written as C. L. Hart) Of Outer Gods and Fallen Angels in the brand-new Fallen anthology. This is primarily a tale of platonic friendship, but there is also a star-crossed lovers arc.
Of course, there are many other wonderful stories in the anthology as well.
I almost forgot to mention that I've finished the A to Z Challenge for this year. Now I need to stop being a socially awkward little fucker and pay some of the other participants a visit. I also need to revive my promotional efforts. This year started off a bit shaky as far as my mental well-being was concerned.
Follow me here for updates and other good/weird stuff.
