Kaeya, despite being a sickly and gentle child, was his own kind of nightmare for Crepus and the other Dawn Winery staff.
See, Diluc is prone to mischief and chaos, dragging along his younger brother and a couple of other children into his plots and messes.
But Kaeya? Kaeya is the type to end up in the most random, and I do mean most random, of places. He would vanish for several hours, only to be found in an unexpected location such as, oh let's say that one time, he was found eating fruit with some friendly hilichurls...IN LIYUE.
He was such a curious soul that would easily get distracted by the wonders of Teyvat, but since he is so silent in both words and movements, whoever is watching over him would lose sight of him just as quickly.
He has caused several search parties in his youth, only for people to find out he was following a seelie to a treasure chest or napping with a young wolf cub in Wolvendom.
Crepus swears that Kaeya and Diluc are competing on who can give him gray hairs the fastest (so far, Diluc is winning, but Kaeya sure is catching up with every scream of panic from a designated babysitter and Diluc)
#crepus and his chaos children#may bartobas bless his soul or something#look if klee can nuke azhdaha for her birthday i think kaeya should be allowed to eat with hilichurls in liyue#nah this is also why diluc followed kaeya and the traveler into a domain one time#*kaeya vanishes again*#*jean sighs in exasperation and nostalgia*#*diluc panicking inwardly again*#one time for funsies i thing he should be found on top of dragonspine after following several warm seelies lmao#crepus: “so...where did you find my boy again?” varka: “...you won't believe me...” crepus: “try me” varka: “...on a ship to Fontaine...”#pls im having fun with this idea yall gotta know how funny this is to me#kaeya#kaeya alberich#crepus ragnvindr#dawn winery#kaeya headcanons#yeah so remember he stowed away to a cargo that was headed for sumeru? crepus was stressed but he was probably used to it lmao#crepus: “ is it morally questionable to put a bell on him?”#bonus hc: kaeya being the knight to ask when needing a search party coz he knows the common places children would get to lmao

Hii I Hope you’re doing well! Can I request for a TLH and the user, despite being energetic, always laughs and smiles once she rests and acts calm, her face is really sad and in her thoughts but when someone ask her about that she just smiles and brush it away.
Of course if you’re busy or don’t want to do it,it’s perfectly fine you have to take care of you! Love🫶
Anyone who meet you for first time have an impression that you're cheerful, full of energy person. But after spending more time with you they started to notice that whether you are standing away from people your smile tends to vanish, your mind tormented by some troubles.
Whenever they ask you if you're alright you would smile and respond that you're fine. They respect that you're not ready to talk to them about your troubles so they won't press. They won't hide they are sad that you don't want to share your burdens, but give them a second and then they will suggest if you want to do something fun together. Aether, Chongyun, Bennett, Thoma, Gorou, Ororon, Baizhu, Kaveh
When they notice your sadness they won't ask you about it, it's not like they don't care about you, they will still be by your side if you need to talk to someone. They would do their own thing while being close to you. If you wish to talk to them they will immediately stop and put their whole attention to you. Alhaitham, Freminet, Razor, Diluc, Albedo, Dainsleif, Wanderer, Xiao, Mika, Kazuha, Wriothesley, Tighnari, Zhongli, Kinich, Neuvillette
They won't ask but immediately try to do something to make you laugh or at least smile. They want to see you genuinely happy and do everything to bring that smile on your face again. Of course if you're willing to tell them they will listen to your troubles too. Itto, Childe, Cyno, Venti, Lyney, GaMing, Heizou, Sethos, Kaeya, Ayato, Xingqiu
You're always there for them, always willing to listen and if you can you will share some resolution or just comfort them. So they wonder why you don't let them do the same for you?

Breaking Up hcs | Genshin & HSR
Have I done this before? I know I made that "what if we broke up?" post but I don't think I've done break up hcs before? I hope not anyway cuz i'm doing them now! Also, maybe I went overboard a little cuz even I felt bad lol and I usually don't feel sad when I write angst.
Characters: Aether, Diluc, Wanderer, Caelus, Jing Yuan, and Aventurine (lol I'ma try)

☽ Aether
That break up took a toll on him, more so than even he thought at first. Sleeping became his least favorite activity because he was constantly seeing your faces in his dreams. Constantly.
The entirety of Teyvat fell apart for the short time their favorite errand boy refused to do anything for them. Honestly, Aether didn't do anything for the first week or so. He was barely eating, barely sleeping, barely alive.
It was hard adventuring too, Paimon no longer wanted him to go because sometimes he'd just get distracted and take unnecessary hits. It was kinda bad. Eventually, she got Katheryne to no longer give him any combat requests because he just wasn't doing good enough.
All he wanted to do was talk to you, but you didn't want to talk to him, so that led him to just remaining in his teapot alone. He didn't even allow visitors for a short while. Paimon did her best to try and comfort him, but there were so few words that could actually get through that sorrow he was dealing with.
It took maybe a month before he allowed people to come visit him and under no circumstances were they allowed to bring you up. Mainly because he'd cry. Everyone did try in their own way to help him, even people like Wanderer or Arlecchino tried to give him some "words of wisdom". It... didn't work mainly because Aether wasn't receptive to it anymore.
☽ Diluc
He really did busy himself with work like he said he would. It's almost all hours of the day. He's rarely even seen at home anymore.
Ironically, Diluc is still very careful about getting hurt because if he did, then he'd need to remain at home and be on bed rest and he genuinely couldn't handle that.
He no longer sleeps in his bed either. Usually, he comes home later, collapses on the couch for a few hours until some dream about you wakes him up and he's back to work. He can't stand sleeping in that bed because you used to lay right beside him.
No one, I mean no one, is allowed to even say your name. Truth be told, Diluc is barely hanging on by a thread, someone saying your name and bringing your image to his mind's eye would ruin him.
Even Kaeya doesn't tease him. Actually, Kaeya keeps away because Diluc is quite irritable and not many people wanted to deal with that. While they understood the break up upset him... it was just too much.
☽ Wanderer
Oh boy. Breaking up with him was hard because he was angry and yelling (at the situation apparently), and just saying no. Eventually though, he relented and agreed. You didn't want to be with him and... well, it wasn't right to force you.
The aftermath was pretty bad. He was angry, didn't want to talk to anyone, and just up and vanished for a while. It wasn't until Aether and Paimon accidentally stumbled upon him while adventuring that they learned a little about what happened.
(W/n) explained that he never thought he'd lose you. Out of all the people he was "friendly" with, he never thought you would up and leave the way you did. It broke his heart- a heart he didn't even know started beating again.
Aether offered for (w/n) to join him on some adventures to just take his mind off of things and he, surprisingly, agreed. But it wasn't the same. Both Paimon and Aether noticed the lack of energy.
He was also constantly in his own mind. Most conversations happened between Aether and Paimon because (w/n) would just mentally check out and not even be paying attention. He didn't break down and cry physically but emotionally, he was a wreck. But it was so bad, he didn't know what to do. Cry, scream, try and take over the world, he didn't know.
What he did know was that the world didn't feel right without you.

☆ Caelus
You lived on the Astral Express with him and the others. Everyone thought you were the cutest couple and everywhere you went, you two received the same compliments. So, he definitely fell apart a little when you just up and ended the relationship.
The worst part was that he couldn't have time away from you. Not in the mean sense, but if you two were breaking up, he needed (for his own mental health) not to see you every single day. But... that wasn't possible.
It was extremely awkward for everyone on board. Welt and Himeko tried their best to keep things normal, the conductor did their best to keep conversations going, and Dan Heng just didn't bother coming out of his room. Caelus took a page from Dan Heng's books and just locked himself away for like two weeks.
When it was finally time for him to come out, he took time off of the express, choosing to go visit some old friends to regain some of that normalcy. Jarilo VI was where he spent most of his time as he hadn't been there in a while. He stayed there without the others for maybe two or so weeks, finding ample time to spend with Natasha, Seele, Bronya, Serval, and Gepard.
While he didn't openly state you two broke up, everyone knew. He did go and visit the Xianzhou which Dan Heng did join him in doing which was a good bonding experience for the two. It was when he finally opened up about losing you. According to Caelus, everything felt so wrong. Like a part of him was missing and that part was so close to his reach. But every single day, he had to pretend like it wasn't.
☆ Jing Yuan
He really didn't know what to do at the moment. He kinda stopped paying attention after you said you wanted to end the relationship. He tried to convince you otherwise, saying that breaking up wouldn't give him the chance to fix it but you were pretty adamant. He couldn't just say no... so he said ok and you were gone.
He tried to act normal. He did his job normally for the first day and that's when it all started to fall apart. The second he had time alone, it just hit him so painfully. You thought him losing his old friends was painful? This was a whole new level.
The second day, he couldn't really perform his duties as well and just handed them off to the first person he saw. Yanqing was most worried and desperately tried to get anyone's help because he didn't know what to do. It led him straight to the Astral Express and unsurprisingly, no one knew what to do.
Jing Yuan didn't even want help, honestly. He'd been hurting for years carrying the memories he did, so what was one more painful one? Maybe it was some sort of divine justice? Jing Yuan wasn't the most upstanding man, right? So he probably deserved this. What right did he have to just go and fix it?
Caelus did end up finding him out and about once, having the chance to share tea with Jing Yuan. The general explained he didn't know how to fix anything anymore. While it wasn't healthy to live life this way, it was his punishment probably. Caelus' concern led him to ask that burning question: why?
"I should've done better. Treated them better... maybe then... I'd still have them."
☆ Aventurine
He almost didn't register the words that came out of your mouth. You... break up with him? You were talking, explaining why, but he couldn't really follow. It's like his brain just stopped working and all he could think was 'this wasn't supposed to happen'.
At the end of it, you were gone and he was alone. Aventurine expected betrayal in his line of work, but he never expected it from you. Your "deal" with him was special. It wasn't like his normal deals. It was one that you two emerged equally victorious and no one lost anything. Right?
Even Ratio had pity for him. Aventurine waltzed around as if nothing happened but there was such a dramatic shift in his personality. He said the same things he always did, he acted as if he always did, but there was a distinct bitterness when he spoke of being let down.
When he told people to make use of him, there was a hint of resentment laced in his words. While he claimed he expected to be exploited at some point, there was still a twinge of fear. It never hurt before but for some reason, it scared him now.
He did briefly open up to Ratio, who was just berating him as usual, and it even took him by surprise. Aventurine didn't say much, but he did say how he figured everyone in the world to want to set him on fire for one reason or another. He just didn't expect it would be you to light the flame. Veritas called him an idiot and said you had every right to leave, which Aventurine wholeheartedly agreed with.
You did have every right to leave. You just didn't have the right to take whatever made him feel normal.

How about yan!Kaeya making reader believe he's going to babytrap them? Him all, "If you have my child, you can't leave" while his darling is helplessly bound and begging for him to not do it. (he won't, of course, he's not ready for kids but causing them that fear is Delightful to him)
Mmm, yum! I see the appeal! Thanks for requesting!
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
Breathing heavily, neither of you was in a position to talk.
Kaeya watched as your chest kept rising and falling, your nipples surrounded by marks of this teasing and swaying with the motion, abused and swollen, beckoning him close again. There was nothing Kaeya wanted more than to get lost in the daze with you, feel your soft and wet cunt wrapped around his cock while he made you moan with his wandering hands and obedient tongue.
But as much as he loved your long, passionate lovemaking sessions, he knew what you needed afterward. Yet, he couldn't quite get up and give you the aftercare you deserved, all his strength having vanished with his own release, the liquid sprawled across your stomach.
Your pussy still dripped with spurts of your own cum, lips puffy and emitting the heat that could make even the Kaeya Alberich lose his mind. It truly was a sight for the Archons. You were the epitome of sexy, seductive, and tempting, making Kaeya's mouth water for a taste of you. Not a day passed where he regretted his decision to take you home with him and lock you up, so he was the only one to get to be with you. Every day was manageable, knowing he'd end up next to you at night, your presence healing a small part of all the pain and hurt he carried with him at all times.
You, unfortunately, disagreed.
"You disgusting piece of--"
"Ah, welcome back to the realm of the living, darling."
You let out a huff of breath, a mixture of exhaustion and ridicule, your head slowly rolling to the side to glare at Kaeya, who sat grinning between your spread legs, gently massaging the one thigh laid across his own.
"You are the worst! Scum! Complete trash!"
"That's not what you called me while you came on my cock, though."
Scoffing, Kaeya could tell you were almost done with your anger, a reoccurring emotion after every intense encounter you two had. Emotions tended to run high between you two, and he got used to it. It still hurt, though. He couldn't deny this.
"You'll pay for this," you slurred, your adorable, befuddled glare barely intimidating when you were fucked out of your mind. Like this, you were almost cuter than normally—perhaps because it was Kaeya who made you this way. You were only this cute because of him. For him.
But like always, even he got tired of your anger. Relationships, right?
"You'll regret ever kidnapping me! I'll get out, and you'll lose everything! They'll lock you up, and I'll make sure you don't get to see the light of day ever again, you bastard--"
"Right, right," Kaeya agreed for the sake of settling the argument. His hand reached out, fingertips dipping in the slowly drying jizz on top of your belly, creating such wonderful marks of possession. Undoubtedly, if anybody saw you like this—which he wouldn't allow anyone to do but himself—they'd think he took great care of you, making sure you were well-fed and well-fucked. What more could you possibly want?
"All those assumptions, I wonder how you'd want to prove them?"
Rubbing the cum between his fingers, it drew soft strings as he pulled them apart, slowly dripping off in front of the smile that crept on his lips. A new idea formed in his head, one that would afflict delicious torture to your mind. Torture that would draw you closer to him, make your demeanor softer, and mend the wounds your denial slashed into his soul.
Lowering his hand, he held it suspiciously close to your lower lips, just inches away from your sopping cunt, and you shuffled in your bonds, twisting your hips to get away.
"Who do you think they'll believe if you get pregnant?"
"That's not funny, Kaeya! Get that shit away from me!"
However, instead, Kaeya's hand kept encroaching, causing your movements to become more and more erratic as you tried to avoid his cum-stained fingers. Although there was a good chance nothing would happen, you both had been surprisingly vigilant to not accidentally get pregnant. It was too much trouble and too much work, and neither of you was in a position where you could risk it. Neither did you want his child and to co-parent with him for all their life, nor did he want to share you and risk losing something as precious as you were.
"You think they'll believe a disheveled, hysteric person over their trusted Cavalry Captain? Will they assume I am as crazy as you make me out to be or that you just want to frame me so you can get a lot of money from me?"
"I get it! You can stop this now!"
Your voice grew softer now that you felt threatened by him. Agreeable, docile, sweet. Kaeya wanted more of it, the tremble in your words silken on his mind like honey running down his throat. If he could make you confess your love—even if it was out of fear—there would be no holding back for him, but that was exactly what he wanted.
"They'd lock you up while I'd be the scorned, pitiful boyfriend that is out of his mind with worry for you. I'd visit you daily, bring you food and clothes, and make sure the baby is alright. You'd never get rid of me. I'd always be involved with you or the child. I'd have you back before you could even blink, and I never repeat a mistake."
Pressing his palm against your cunt, you whimpered, the threat of his semen-smeared fingers much too close for comfort. One dip in, and there would be a real chance all the doubts he planted with his words would come true. Kaeya's grin widened as your expression began to falter in worry and fear, another delicious sight, meaning you were so close to caving. He wasn't going to actually do it, but you didn't know that. After everything, you always assumed the worst, never bothering to ask him what he wanted. Your mistake, really.
It made you so easy to manipulate.
"Don't you want to, baby? Be all round and swollen, feeling our child kick, and have me massage your breasts since they'll be so heavy with milk? Are you not excited at the prospect of living with me forever, caring for the kid, and giving them a sibling or two? Would that not be so fun, taking our relationship to the next stage?"
And there it was. Subtle as the sun rising and falling over the day, you conceded, turning your head away ever so slightly and closing your eyes in defeat. Kaeya had learned to read you many nights ago. Learned that sometimes "stop" meant "more" and that you could be placid and coy when you wished for things to go your way, overjoyed that your "plot" worked on him when really, it was Kaeya stringing you along.
"--don't."
"Hm? I'm sorry I didn't catch that."
"Please don't," you repeated meekly, the propitiation in your voice causing gratification to soothe his ego. "I don't want to be pregnant! I didn't really... didn't really mean what I said."
"Mhm, I see," Kaeya hummed, faking his thoughtfulness as he pressed his palm a bit harder against the warmth of your pussy. He had to leave an impact you wouldn't forget so quickly if this punishment was supposed to further your relationship. "Do you still think I'm scum?"
Biting your lip, Kaeya could watch the inner fight you had with yourself not to reply snarkily. Watching your fight die down as he pressed his hand a bit lower, dangerously close to your entrance, immediately shutting up your inner thoughts, was hilarious. At the same time, the control almost went to his head, knowing all the things he could do to you at that moment.
"N-No! You're... you're alright. I was just upset, sorry."
Delicious. All good teasing had to end, even though there was much more to fish for in this situation. However, compared to the last few times you two had this argument, you had relented much quicker with the threat of pregnancy looming in the air than ever before. It was almost like he had slowly chipped away at your resolve, and just now, a big piece broke out of the wall you built around yourself.
"It's fine~" Kaeya chimed forgivingly, immediately withdrawing his hand and rubbing off his cum on your leg across his lap. Wasted opportunity, but it did the job.
"You know I can't be mad with you, darling," he mumbled, purposefully using the same hand to cup your face and rub your cheek as he leaned closer, forcing your head up. Your eyes shot open, anger and more resistance sparking in them momentarily before it died down, too, turning into frustration. Perhaps more than him, you were angry with yourself. Enraged, you had to appease him just to get your way. But Kaeya only heard the walls continue to break, chip by chip, slowly but surely, as he leaned down to kiss you.
You weakly reciprocated, just enough to satisfy him, but it was indeed enough for him. Every little hint of affection willingly given was proof that there was love inside you. Even if fear and hatred had wrapped around it like barricades, he knew it was there, waiting for Kaeya to pull it out and set it free. Soon, you'd cling to him like he did to you, and he couldn't wait to be needed by you like the air you breathed.
"Are you hungry?" he asked softly, brushing your hair aside. "Thirsty? Want a bath?"
"A bath," you immediately replied, almost too quickly. Kaeya grinned some more, knowing you just wanted to get rid of the possibility of him knocking you up anyhow by washing off the cum clinging to you almost as possessively as he was.
"Your wish is my command," he announced solemnly, almost coaxing a laugh from you. Almost.
Maybe if you two had children, you'd laugh more and be happier. Perhaps your features would soften when you looked at the father of your children. Or you'd cuddle with him as you two watched them play and be merry. But who was he to think about this?
You weren't ready yet, and by the Archons, neither was he. But the idea did settle in his mind, how wonderful it would be if this love you two shared accumulated in something new, something wonderful.
Shaking his head, he picked you up from the bed after loosening your restraints, carrying you to the bathroom, ready to fulfill your wishes and make you happy. He could do this without the need of anyone else, just like he swore the day he decided it had to be you who waited for him at home. Had to be you who received all this misguided, toxic love that burned inside of him. As if this idea of children and a family could ever come to fruition when you two barely went a day without arguing and manipulating each other.
As if he'd ever share you with anyone.

Masterlist of My Works
Morveren | AO3
This is a personal blog, but I do take the occasional ask/requests. SFW asks only, please.
Genshin Impact
Stories:
✸ Someday, Somewhere (Xiao x Reader) (AO3)
You meet Adeptus Xiao under strange new skies.
✸ Speak (Xiao x Reader) (AO3)
Learning to love him is like learning a different language.
✸ Silk Flowers (Xiao x Reader) (Tumblr | AO3)
It was the silk flowers.
In summer time, they are practically given away: to seamstresses, to scribes, or perhaps, woven into the hair of a well-known customer. The token of a bargain well-struck.
Xiao claims not to be bothered by them, that adepti are above petty mortal concerns like jealousy.
Perhaps he is right, and you are reading too much into it.
But perhaps, as you are slowly learning, adepti are closer to humans than they’d like to admit.
You decide to test this theory.
"Xiao, if you hate the flowers so much," you say, smiling. "Why not take them off?"
✸ A Crown of Bone (Zhongli x Reader) (Tumblr | AO3)
Imagine being a changeling child and living your life in quiet yearning.
You had been found in the dead of winter, or so your mother tells you, a half-fey child abandoned in a snowbank.
Imagine a lifetime of secrets: your first memories are of a spring that does not belong to the mortal realm. You dream of golden eyes gleaming at you from the darkness as your mother picked you up and carried you away.
Imagine keeping these things to yourself, tucked away against the curve of your ribs, right next to your slow-beating heart. Secrets that are half-yearning and half-memory: someone had left you there in that snowbank, and there are days that you think that they did not do so willingly.
And you hope that one day, they will find you again

Batman: Arkham and DC
Stories:
✸ The Pizza Delivery Girl's Survival Guide to Gotham City (Jason Todd x Reader) (AO3)
People who lived outside of Gotham City would most often think of it in terms of its heroes and villains. About Batman and Robin, Joker and Harley Quinn.
People who actually live in Gotham City would only think of one thing: surviving.
Who cares about the people in costumes when your house has been bombed for the fifth time, or your wife has been taken hostage just because she worked in a bank?
Or, in your case, when you have to make regular deliveries to places where even Batman feared to tread?
Because let's face it. In a world full of superheroes and costumed villains, the real heroes are the ones who make sure that people get their pizzas in forty-five minutes or less.
✸ His Father's Son (Jason Todd x Reader, Dark Fantasy!AU) (AO3)
Gotham City: the world’s last and greatest bastion of magic. A city made out of spells and twisting steel.
And the only place where the dead can be brought back to life.
After Jason Todd had been forcibly resurrected by his father, he left Gotham City in search of a new life. One where he did not have to be constantly reminded that he now sits on the border between the monstrous and the miraculous. One where he could forget that no longer quite belongs in the world of the living.
But when a strange new curse surfaces, one that causes plants to take root inside of living people and leaving flowering corpses in its wake, Jason finds that he must come back and help solve the case before it devours the city whole.
✸ Rules of Vanishing (Jason Todd x Reader) (AO3)
Here are the rules to survive as a civilian in Gotham City:
The first rule is to keep your head down. Don't draw attention to yourself. Don't make eye contact. Walk briskly and with purpose. Don't wear anything flashy that can be stolen and most certainly do not walk down that dark alley.
The second rule is don't be a hero. Avoid confrontations. Walk the other way when you see a standoff. Don't try to help that man getting beat up in the alley, because odds are you'll get killed right along with him. Gotham City has Batman for a reason.
The third and most important rule is this: Don't get involved with superheroes.
Or in your case, gun-toting vigilantes.
✸ Next to Last (Jason Todd x Reader) (AO3)
After Batman’s death, Jason is left to pick up the pieces.
✸ Revenant (Creature!Jason x Reader) (Tumblr)

But he does not know that yet.
Snapshots of Hawks’ life from child to hero to something else in between.

There was no fury.
Only pain.
Because he had seen what the Abyss did to those who sought it willingly.
And he would not let that happen to you.
So he watched you.
Even closer than before.
Every step. Every breath.
He was there.
"I won't lose you to them."
There was no room for argument.
Dainsleif had already decided.
Even if it meant binding you in chains—he would not lose you to the Abyss.
Not when he had already lost everything else.
Pierro – The Chessmaster Who Saw It Coming
Unlike Capitano, Pierro was not angry.
He was disappointed.
Did you truly believe he had not accounted for this possibility?
That he had not seen it coming?
He had always known that desperation would drive you to seek other means of escape.
But the Abyss?
He looked at you with something unreadable, something almost sorrowful.
"Do you even understand what you’ve done?"
His voice was neither cruel nor loud.
It was worse.
It was cold.
"I had such high hopes for you."
And just like that, your world shrank.
Pierro did not rage.
He simply made sure you would never try again.
Your freedoms—what little you had—vanished overnight.
No more unsupervised moments. No more open doors.
Only his hand, guiding you away from what he deemed dangerous.
Away from the Abyss.
Away from hope.
Kaeya – The Brother Who Knows the Abyss Too Well
Kaeya laughed when he found out.
Not out of amusement.
Out of disbelief.
"You’re serious?"
The way you glared at him told him everything.
And for the first time in a long while—Kaeya felt something dangerous stir in his chest.
You had turned to the Abyss.
To them.
And that?
That was unforgivable.
"Oh, sweetheart, you don’t know what you’ve done."
His voice was still light, still teasing.
But his grip on your wrist was unrelenting.
"You really think they’d save you?"
He leaned in close, voice dropping into something almost suffocating.
"The only person who gets to keep you is me."
And from that day on—Kaeya made sure you never had the chance to run again.
Because he would rather break you himself than let the Abyss take you away.
Albedo – The Alchemist Who Will Not Lose His Masterpiece
Albedo was fascinated.
Not pleased.
Not angry.
Just fascinated.
Because desperation was a powerful thing.
And you, his most valuable subject, had just proven how far you were willing to go.
"The Abyss, you say?"
His golden eyes studied you carefully, clinically, as if you were an experiment that had finally yielded interesting results.
"That is… a problem."
Not because he feared the Abyss.
But because he would not share.
"You are mine."
There was no venom in his words. No threat.
Just certainty.
And certainty, when spoken by Albedo—
Was far worse than any threat.
You did not remember much after that.
Only that when you awoke, the option to turn to the Abyss was gone.
Because Albedo had ensured it would never be a possibility again.
And he smiled, ever so softly, as he whispered—
"Now, let’s not make this mistake again, shall we?"
Capitano – The Fury of a Betrayed Warden
The moment Capitano learned of your attempts to summon the Abyss, the entire fortress shook.
He did not believe in showing emotion. He did not believe in acting recklessly.
But this?
This was unacceptable.
You—his ward, his responsibility—seeking refuge in the very force that destroyed your homeland?
If you had been anyone else, you would be dead.
The only thing keeping you alive was his unwillingness to destroy something so precious.
The silence was suffocating when he finally confronted you, his massive form looming over you, his voice low and dangerously calm.
"Did you think I would not find out?"
You had no answer.
Only your defiance—only your fear.
His grip was ironclad as he pulled you closer, his tone like steel.
"You will not make that mistake again."
You had never felt like less of a prisoner than in that moment.
Because now, the walls around you were no longer just physical.
They were him.
Unbreakable.

Danced With You Once Upon A Dream 🌠
Headcannons of Genshin boys seeing you in a ball gown and asking you to dance.
Ft: Diluc, Kaeya, Zhongli, Childe, Thoma, Ayato, and Alhaitham
Tags: Fem!Reader, crushes everywhere, jealousy, fluff, PG, GOOD VIBES ONLY, i chose a lot of smug men please spare me, no beta we die like men Notes: I JUST REALLY WANTED TO MATCH PRETTY BOYS TO PRETTY DRESSES! SUE ME! (Another repost!)

Diluc

Diluc is a known hermit. After his father's death, it was a rare sight to see him at any large social event. He preferred to keep it that way, but tonight's banquet is an exception. The masked vigilante accepted the invitation for an opportunity to eavesdrop on a fatui officer in attendance. Unfortunately, his person of interest appeared to be a complete no-show. The whole night was already a total bust.
Perhaps if he left right then, he could still do a patrol around Mondstadt before dawn. It was the enjoyable option compared to being approached again by another person seeking his attention. Idle chit-chat was never something he enjoyed much anyway and he was in no mood to talk business.
Diluc contemplated his exit strategy that would avoid being stopped by anyone. An eruption of chatter drew everyone's attention to the main doors. There was a late arrival being announced. It was nice timing, he would just need to slip out during the commotion. How odd for one guest to kick up this much of a fuss... Diluc's curious gaze followed up to the large entry doors and inevitably fixated onto the beautiful figure, onto you.
His plans to leave vanished with each step you descended down the grand staircase. Your flowing dress moved in such an entrancing way that he could swear you plucked it straight out of fairy tale. Diluc has been so busy with the winery and his investigations... he couldn’t remember the last time he had talked to you. Perhaps he should stay a little longer, if only just to catch up at least.
The red haired man was utterly enchanted by your movements. It explained why he was drawn in like a magnet, moving as if under your spell. He strode smoothly through the crowd to meet you at the foot of the stairs. His hand extended to guide you down the last couple steps, down to earth, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. When you finally glance up from your hands to meet Diluc's gaze, adoration is already clear across his features.
"Y/N" He greeted you, bowing to place a small peck on the back of your hand. "Its lovely to see you tonight." Diluc spoke slow and earnestly, as if channeling every ounce of his princely charm into that sentiment. You felt like butter melting into his warmth, becoming pliant in his hands. “May I?” Diluc gestured forward, asking if he could accompany you in.
The presence of the elusive owner of Dawn Winery did little to quell the whispers and eyes on you. Now awoken from your dreamy haze, you became aware of just how much attention you've managed to garner. You looked yourself over. Had there been a stain that you missed? Were you not on theme? How embarrassing... Your panic was interrupted by Diluc's fond chuckle. It almost annoyed you how amused he seemed by your antics.
“There’s no need to worry. They’re staring because they can't bare to look away. You are simply captivating.” Diluc stated as if it were an obvious fact. “If you are still feeling nervous, how about a dance to get your mind off it?”
Kaeya

Kaeya spent most of the ball like a fly on the wall, listening in on conversations here and there. To his dismay, there was nothing interesting happening tonight. The juciest thing he managed so far were the two Fatui delegates discussing their distaste of the liquor served. “Honestly! Can’t they provide anything stronger? It’s practically disrespect to serve-” A pause. “Hmm... well at least there’s plenty of eye candy to eat up.” The man changed topics in favor of discussing the newest arrival to his comrade.
From his vantage point, Kaeya discreetly surveyed the crowd. His sweep abruptly stopped when he spotted you in such an elegant gown. “My, my don’t you clean up well.” The captain chuckled quietly to himself. He smirked slyly down at you and thought of a couple ways to make you be the one to approach him.
His plans changed rapidly when he noticed how swarmed you were. You hadn’t even taken five steps before multiple men stopped you, a half circle was already beginning to form. Confusion and an awkward politeness were loud and clear on your features yet no one took the hint.
The look of the situation bubbled up something in the pit of Kaeya's stomach. He would sooner cut off his silver tongue before ever calling it jealousy. It was accompanied by a feeling of annoyance. Do those men not have eyes? Couldn’t they see they were making you uncomfortable? They don’t even have the decency to let you greet your friends first before bombarding you.
He simply could not let this stand. As a knight, he is upheld to a code of chivalry after all. It was easy to weave his way through the other guests to get to you. “My dear Y/N, you made it!” Kaeya addressed you, loud enough to make a couple of the men turn to look. Without hesitation, he took the opening to wedge himself between the half turned bodies.
He made the maneuver look easy, like he had done this exact thing a million times over. The Calvary Caption smoothly took your hand in his and gazed into your eyes like there wasn’t a dozen people staring. He flash of a small smirk, with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glint in his eye before, he continuing his theatrics.
“You look simply heavenly.” Kaeya said in a sickeningly sweet tone, playing it up slightly for listening ears. “Now that you’ve arrived, you can do me the honors of bestowing me your first dance of the night. You did promise it to me after all.”
You caught on quickly, nodding in agreement. That's all it took for Kaeya to lead you out of the corner you were trapped in and into the rest of the festivities. Once you both were out of earshot, you quietly thanked him.
“There’s no need, Y/N. Those men were being simply unmannerly.” He laughed, a smug look creeping back onto his face. “Although, it would also be quite rude to make a liar out of me. So how about that dance?”
Zhongli

Zhongli was familiar to with the formal banquets held on the Pearl Gallery. He did not always attend, but when he felt the desire to people watch the consultant accepted the invitation. The harbor is a beautiful heart of Liyue and the its people are the blood that pumps through her veins. To the being who laid its foundation, Rex Lapis viewed it like art to see the continued flow of life unfold before him.
He participated as the role an average guest. Someone may strike up a conversation now and again, in response he would chat idly about nothing at all. The visitor would then move on to their next conversation and Zhongli was perfectly content sipping his drink and taking in the evolving atmosphere.
The next shift in energy accompanied your arrival and his ember eyes watched the scene change before him once again. The former archon was fascinated by the buzz that rippled outward from where you stood. When you approached, people excitedly began chatting, smiling, and laughing. Knowing you well, he could tell you were radiating delight effortlessly, even while just greeting other guests. He no longer observed the gathering as a whole, his gaze instead followed the intricate detailing leading up your bodice. It was entrancing to watch each graceful step while you made your way around the ship’s deck.
Zhongli contemplated the notion of approaching you. Doing so would actively shift the trajectory of the evening. Taking your time for himself disrupts the organic flow of art he admired just moments prior. Would that be fair to you? You, who was someone he respected and admired. You, who looked so divine that it demanded all of his attention in that very moment. You, who Morax would willingly give all of it to.
The answer to his dilemma came simply while watching your eyes meet. Zhongli no longer felt content with his self assigned role of bystander. He had a deep desire to partake. Thus, the stubborn rock uprooted himself.
“Hello again Y/N, you look blindingly radiant tonight.” Zhongli approached you with a graceful bow The lightest kiss is placed upon the back of your hand like a whisper. Your glowing smile and warm greeting prompts yet another decision. “It would be heavenly if you allowed me your company tonight. Would you care for a dance?”
The old archon had already inserted himself into this occasion's flow, it would be foolish not enjoy it in full.
Childe

Jealousy. Jealousy. Jealousy. You were his guest after all.
Tartaglia invited you, along with a few others, to a ball thrown by the Snezhnayan embassy. You weren't EXACTLY asked to be his date. Heck, the redhead even emphasized that you were invited as a good friend. But nonetheless, an honored guest of a Fatui Harbinger should be assumed off-limits. It shouldn't matter how stunning you look. Those men lingering around you will just need to be reminded. Politely of course....
Childe insisted on your attendance, even going as far as offering to buy you any dress you wanted for the occasion. You were still unsure, since you were aware of how bad the Fatui's reputation had tanked in Liyue recently. During back and forth with him, you jokingly pointed at an outrageously expensive dress in a shop display. There is no way, even someone with money, would drop that much on such a frivolous dress. It was double your rent for archon’s sake.
Inevitably, when the dress was delivered on your step, you had to sit down to keep from falling over. You begged him to return it. There’s no way you could accept such an outragous gift. HE WAS BEING UNREASONABLE PLEASE! Like always, Tartaglia only laughed at you and teased how great you'll look in it.
The redhead didn’t expect just how great that was.
Some last minute Fatui conflicts allowed you to arrive before him. The party was in full swing and lively as ever. Guests were having enthusiastic discussions sometimes in a tongue you didn’t quite understand. It wasn’t long before you were pulled into a conversation, and then another.
You already had five drinks lined up waiting for you by the time Childe arrived to the event. The fiery exchanges died down and a few peeled off rub elbows with the harbinger. Unfortunately, you were not able to go greet your friend. Three men blocked your path, insisting you finish your drink so you could dance with them. Any declination was laughed at and brushed over.
“Ah, you must be hard of hearing. My lovely guest here doesn’t wish to dance with you.” The polite words held a chilling edge to them. The men turned to face the instigator with puffed chests and annoyed glares. The Eleventh Fatui Harbringer stood behind them, a malicious smile staring directly back at them. Blood drained from the frozen men's faces and one by one they excused themselves with their tails tucked between their legs.
“Now this isn’t fair.” Tartaglia sighed, his features relaxing now that is attention was on you. “You weren’t supposed to look this amazing in that dress Y/N.” He teased while also taking your hand and guiding you into a spin. “I may have to buy you a few more, so that I can see you like this more often.” You relaxed when you heard his playful tone return. You tell him to quit it while lightly slapping his shoulder. “Hm? I’ll stop if you agree to dance with me. How about it beautiful?”
Thoma

Thoma knew his way around a party. With so many connections to maintain, he fluttered from guest to guest like the social butterfly he was. When the Kamisatos throw a banquet, he’s usually busy with everything that goes on behind of the scenes. As a show of appreciation, Thoma was told to simply enjoy himself tonight. He was sure to take advantage of such an opportunity. The blond even invited you. Since he had no obligations, he could be the one showing you a good time for once.
It was comical how obvious his double-take was when you arrive. The boy's green eyes sparkled and his mouth hung slightly ajar in awe. He catches himself, remembering his manners. Surely, it couldn't be proper to gawk at your friend so openly.
Some habits die hard. The Kamisato Clan’s resident housekeeper is the first to greet you and guide you in. “Y/N you look....! Hah, I don't even know how to describe how beautiful you look. I'm utterly speechless." Thoma's charming smile was blinding when he looked at you. For someone rendered speechless, he didn't stop there. "That dress is perfect on you and the color just make your eyes... wow.”
You are showered in compliments. How he is doing it with a straight face? Thoma tone was so earnest and genuinely delighted to behold you, but each word made your face burn in embarrassment. You had to insist that he to stop to prevent your incoming heart attack.
“Ah, sorry Y/N. I must have gotten carried away.” He chuckled, only then finally showing an inkling of bashfulness. “Here, allow me to show you around, I have some people I’d love you to meet.”
Thoma offered his arm and guided you around the festivities, while also subtly showing you off to everyone and anyone. Like two peas in a pod, you laughed and talked while you mingled around. Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were a fresh couple struck with puppy love. But in Thoma's oblivious mind, he saw himself as only your attendant for the evening. He was simply there to ensure you’re a great time. He was happy with this.
The blond noticed your eyes drift over to the dance floor. It's then that he toed a line of where a servant should stay. It would be selfish for him to take you from the party and be the one to dance the night away with you. Sure, he wanted to..... he really wanted to. Would that be ok? Well... what was life without risks? If this was not proper, he'd happily accept whatever consequences.
“Y/N, would you like to dance with me? It would hands down make me the luckiest guy here.”
Ayato

Ayato was bored of the banquet too soon after it begun. As Yashiro Commissioner, he hardly had a moment of peace. There was a multitude of important people in attendance and out of courtesy he exchanged pleasantries and discussed light politics. His lines were well rehearsed, polite and non-confrontational on any one matter.
He didn’t know you were on the guest list until your arrival. It didn't go unnoticed how you dress style and color pallet correlated perfectly with the Kamisato Clan's traditional attire. He deduced that Ayaka must of had a hand in both of those happenstances.
As if confirming Ayato's suspicions, Ayaka was the first to greet you. He watched the two of you excitedly talk amongst yourselves. She gestured toward your dress with a not-so-subtle two thumbs up from her. There was a growing chatter amongst the the guests. In less than five minutes you managed to become the center of talk. Not just anyone was warranted to wear Kamisato colors to their events, and so extravagantly at that too. Even with Ayaka’s clear public approval, people will imagine drama where there is none.
Ayato had to admit, he couldn't tare his eyes from you. The clan head he was speaking to, continued going on and on about business dealings. Meanwhile in the commissioner's head, he began to map out how to speed run through the rest of the interactions he was obligated to have tonight. If he played his cards just right, he may have a moment to chat with you. If time allowed, he may even be able to squeeze in a single dance.
Ayaka inevitably was pulled away to attend to her other duties, but she encouraged you to feel free to mingle and have fun. Once she left, the eyes on you and the quiet murmurs became much more apparent.
Ayato noticed your previous excitement shift into anxiety. Left like this, you would be eaten alive by these ruthless socialites. You might even leave before he had a chance to make his way to you. This definitely won’t do. Ayato politely excused himself from the mind numbing pleasantries and briskly made his way across the banquet hall. Others who approached him received a similar kind but firm dismissal.
“These kinds of people always find something to gossip about, trust me.” You jumped, not expecting the sudden company. Least of all, you weren't expecting the head of the Kamisatio Clan to be the one to approach you. You look around at all the prying eyes and quickly compose yourself. You deeply bow to the man in front of you and state your name and status as a formal greeting. It felt strange since you were both so well acquainted as good friends. It was better to be safe than sorry in your opinion. You waited to be greeted back in a similar manner so that you could be released from your bow.... but there was only silence.
“Hah! There’s no need for that Y/N. You shouldn't feel the need to speak so formally to me for their sake.” Ayato's hand was slightly covering his mouth to stifle a few stray chuckles. You stood up properly and frowned at your friend in more embarrassment. Ayato sighed, amused, and leaned down to meet your eye level. “Really, there's no need for that. Besides, with how exquisite you look tonight, I should be the one honored.” The commissioner took a knee and placed a princely kiss upon your knuckles. Voices began to erupt around you two.
“Hm... Since everyone is going to be gossiping anyway, how about we give them something to talk about?” Ayato asked smoothly, his hand already leading you toward dance floor by the small of your back.
Alhaitham

Alhaitham was only there because he was FORMALLY WARNED that he would be reprimanded if he missed another mandatory Akademiya event.
The scribe was the definition of a party pooper. He sat in the corner with the best lighting and cracked open the book he had brought along. (This is the equivalent to being forced to go to an office Christmas party for this guy.) Any attempts to talk to him were either ignored or efficiently rudely turned away.
The book became front once he finished it twice over. Alhaitham knew he should have brought a spare. To pass the time, he turned off his noise cancelling headphones and waited. People tended to say more when they thought you weren't listening. To his dismay... some conversations were just not worth listening to. The scribe became so bored he actually began his third re-read at some point.
“Is it even allowed to wear something so....... adverse to an Akedemiya function? That has to be some sort of dress code violation.” Two scholars whispered to one another just within earshot. Ah, finally something interesting.
Alhaitham spared a discreet glance from behind his book to the controversy of the hour. It was you... how unexpected. And how you were dressed, also unexpected. A quick glace had become more akin to appreciation. You stood defiantly confident in your body conforming emerald gown, meanwhile scholars were bending over backwards to avoid getting close at all costs. As if being associated with you would also get them a violation too.
The scribe shut his book since he had become interested enough in the situation to give his full attention. He had an idea what this was all about but this was definitely not the outcome he would have bet on.
You had mentioned your annoyance with the Akedemiya’s dress code to him. You even submitted a few applications for an appeal. A couple even got approved through him before ultimately being rejected by the grand sage. It made no sense! Why were you being dress code on the exact shade of green you wore? Or that your attire had to be floor length? For archon’s sake you were even told your comfortable shoes were too dirty to be acceptable. And you definitely showed them. Alhaitham didn't bother hiding the way he eyed you over. And recalling the rules and regulation.... there’s technically nothing wrong with your outfit. Although, you were guaranteed to get an earful tomorrow by the sages. He decided with that alone that congratulations were in order.
“I must say, this a wonderfully scandalous way to prove your point.” Alhaitham mused while approaching you. You rolled your eyes at his comment and both relief and stress washed over your person. While thankful for some sort of company tonight, your antisocial colleague was the last person you expected to run into here. You greeted him stiffly while preparing yourself for the endless teasing sure to follow. Alhaitham had just enough respect for your efforts to hold his tongue for now. He instead held out his hand in an invitation, the hint of a smirk emerging across his features.
“You know, dancing is technically only 'frowned upon' at these kind of events. Care to piss off a few more old men?”
You guys were about to be in so much trouble...

<A/N: Another repost from my old blog!!! I love this one! The only things I changes were made for the better I think. I really gotta stop writing these at like 3Am and calling it a day. ✦ info: moments where they come to your rescue. kinda.
✦ featuring: kaeya, wanderer.
✦ warnings: spiders, injuries.
✦ notes: posting (or reposting, in this case) all the works i can with kaeya in them before the ebg <3
kaeya.
a loud scream pierces through the quiet air, and he startles, knocking over a bottle of ink with his elbow. dark liquid slowly spreads over oak and fortunately blank paper; but he pays it no mind; all he can feel is familiar anxiety wrapping ugly tendrils around his lungs.
his feet almost fly across the floor in his effort to find you as quickly as he can. he flings open the kitchen door with a bang, out of breath from worry, not exertion, calling your name.
“what happened?” he takes long strides towards you, finding you huddled up in a corner. his hands gently grip your face and he searches your panicked eyes for hints of what may have scared you.
you point to the far side of the room, eyes wide. “there’s a spider!”
“what?” he asks, unsure of what he just heard from your lips.
“spider! over there!” you frantically wave your arms in that direction. he follows your movement, and sees a tiny house spider on the wall, unassuming and unintimidating.
the tendrils vanish, and kaeya throws his head back in laughter. “you yelled that loudly over a tiny, tiny spider?”
you make a face at him, offended by him laughing. "i don't like them, okay?"
"i don't like grape juice, but you don't see me screaming about it, my love." he coos at your expression, pinching your cheeks and pressing a kiss to your forehead.
"you rant enough about it, though." you swat at his hands. "just get rid of it without killing it, please?"
"oh? but i think we should let our little friend stay a while. perhaps we could give them a name?" an eye of moonshine sparkles with mirth. "i wonder what would fit this itsy-bitsy spider?"
"kaeya alberich, i swear to archons above—"
he holds his hands up in surrender. "alright, alright. can't have my sweetheart be mad at me, now, can i?"
he swiftly entraps it in a glass and slowly shoos it outside. "there. it's gone now." he turns to you with a mischievous grin.
(good luck, you're never living this down.)
wanderer.
"tch," he grumbles. "when will you stop being so clumsy?"
"i'm not clumsy, the ground was just uneven," you say, sitting down on a nearby rock. "besides, scrapes and bruises are a standard part of commissions." you rummage through your bag for antiseptic solution and some bandages.
"you can't even do a simple commission without getting hurt; at this rate i'll have to accompany you on all of them." he shoves your hands away gently, a contrast to his tone. "i'll do it," his hands make quick work of bandaging your wound, ever-so-carefully.
and after he's done, he softly pats your bandaged knee as if to soothe it. and as you stand up, his gaze never leaves your form, as if to make sure you'd be okay with walking on your own.
you bend down to retrieve your items, but he beats you to it.
you call his name. "hey, i can hold my own bag." you reach for it, trying to pull it out of his hands. "it's not fair if you hold everything, let me carry something too."
"you want to hold something?" he looks in your direction. "fine, hold this." he slips his hand into yours, hoisting your bag on the other. almost as if it was an afterthought, he adds, "so you don't fall again."
"sure," you agree. "so i don't fall again. but i still feel bad about you carrying every—" you're cut off by him plopping his hat on your head.
"there, you have something else. don't complain." a slight red dusts his cheeks, and he looks ahead, resuming your journey back home.
"okay," you say, acquiescing.
he's so cute.

Stawwwwp your stuff is so cute!!💖💖💖
If requests are open, may I ask for playing with Wanderer, Tighnari, and Kaeya's hair?
Thank you! And I hope you have a great rest of your day/night ✨️
very thankful for this request💪 i’ve been thinking about this idea for a while now
playing with his hair
wanderer
wanderer usually likes it when it’s him playing with your hair, but tonight you wanted to switch it up a bit. when you’re cuddling together and your hands start to thread into his hair, wanderer point blank turns to you and asks in an almost offended tone, “what are you doing?”
“playing with your hair,” you respond, gently tugging on another lock. you pause and look into his eyes. “is that okay?”
when wanderer doesn’t respond, you let his hair slip through your fingers.
“i’ll stop,” you whisper.
“no, it’s…” wanderer searches for the right word.
you wait patiently in silence. wanderer thinks you look like a confused puppy with your head tilted to the side. your eyes certainly remind him of one, always filled with adoration. for him. sometimes, he still can’t believe it.
“nice,” he finishes at last, sounding like it’s the first time he’s ever said the word. wanderer settles back down so you don’t have to see his face—though, that doesn’t hide the redness in his ears. he clears his throat. “you can keep going.”
his voice is ridiculously soft, but when you let out a teasing, “are you sure?” it turns back to rought concrete.
“yes,” tight, unyielding. you can picture him rolling his eyes. “i’m sure.”
you laugh and once again start running your fingers through his hair. he eventually falls asleep, and if you manage fight through your own dropping eyelids, you’ll hear him murmur your name, said like a scared prayer to a benevolent god.
tighnari
oh, when you start playing with tighnari’s hair, the man turns to puddy in your hand. nevermind the teasing attitude or sarcastic indifference he gives you during the day. at night, when you’re massaging his head with small, light circles, tighnari’s edges smooth out. not that they were never too rigid to begin with—at least, not with you—but the tension in his face will evaporate and he’ll have this content, peaceful smile on his face that lingers even into sleep.
and if you start playing his ears? first, consider yourself lucky that you’re allowed such a privilege; second, he might literally melt like ice under the desert sun; third, should you call him out on such softness, he will absolutely deny it.
“blushing?” he muses. he blinks open his eyes, and you feel bad you woke him from sleep. your guilt vanishes when he states: “i don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“oh?” you bring the back of your hand to his cheek. “i don’t know. seems pretty warm to me…”
he brushes off your hand with a small protest in the back of his throat.
“it’s warm because it’s hot here. that’s all.”
“oh, yes. i’m freezing.”
“[name],” tighnari sighs.
“tighnari,” you respond. he looks up at you with a pout—a pout, for archon’s sake—and you can’t help but laugh. “okay, okay. i’ll let it go.”
tighnari relaxes back down. you start running a light finger over the back of his ears, and tighnari sighs again, content. quietly, you lean down and whisper, barely able to keep the amusement from your voice: “but you totally are blushing.”
kaeya
kaeya loves it when you braid his hair. he just thinks your fingers are so gentle when you’re tugging and pulling at his hair in forming the braid. honestly, he’ll let you do anything you want to his hair, aside from cutting it all off. (even then, he might at least consider it, though he’d never let you go through with it).
you’ll be braiding his hair one night, same routine as ever, when you realize something. you tug on a strand and it doesn’t come free; neither does the adjcent strand next to it.
your fingers still, and your heart drops to the bottom of the ocean. in trying a new type of braid, you’ve created a knot in kaeya’s hair.
“well?” kaeya asks some time after you stopped. “did you finish?”
he goes to run a hand over the braid and you stop him, quickly lacing it with yours. now kaeya does turn, an eyebrow raised, a pointed glance at your entwined hands.
“not that this isn’t lovely,” he starts, squeezing your hand lightly, “but i do feel like there’s another motive at play here.”
“not at all,” you say, averting your gaze.
kaeya makes to touch his hair with his other hand, to which you also grab and hold in your own.
“okay, [name], sweetling, now i’m a concerned. please tell me you didn’t rip off a chunk of my hair.”
“you would’ve felt it,” you grumble. but then you sigh and shyly tell him, “…but i might have made a knot.”
kaeya studies your face, and after a second, he surprises you by placing a peck on your lips.
“what was that for?” you ask, embarassed.
“because you look so worried,” kaeya responds with a sigh. he worries for you sometimes, he really does. “don’t worry. it can’t be that bad. though,” he glanced at your hands again, still entwined, “i’d find some comfort in finding out for myself.”
you reluctantly release one hand. kaeya touches the knot and reassures you once again it’s really nothing. you both work to get it out before you’re back to braiding it again. though, it’s kind of difficult now.
kaeya still won’t let your other hand go.

You Make Him Feel... | Genshin Impact
Ft. Kaveh, Alhaitham, Diluc, and Kaeya
I love these boys 🥺💖
Kaveh: Like He Has No Worries at All
All the stressors in his life -- the debt, the secrets, the frustrating roommate, and the picky clients -- vanish from his mind when he's with you. Your presence fills him with such a foreign sense of peace that makes the unending volume of thoughts in his head go silent. The only thing occupying his head space noa is you. He can't remember the last time he's felt so at ease. For a long time, he's lived in fear of his carefully crafted façade shattering, leaving behind shards of his failures in its wake. But you...you're the mirror reflecting all his hopes and dreams, his wants and desires. You're the looking-glass that shows him the bright future waiting ahead of him. Every time he looks at you, he sees what can be, what will be, so long as you choose to remain by his side.
Alhaitham: Like Everything Makes Sense
There are some things in this world that cannot be fully understood no matter how much a person researches, theorizes, and attempts to know them. Logic is a guide, not an answer to life's every question. But somehow, your very existence challenges these "truths". For the first time in his life, Alhaitham has found something that he is completely sure of: that he cares deeply for you. With each passing day, he finds his mind becoming clearer, his love for you growing more and more sure. Rationality dictates that he should not be unfazed by the chaos that surrounds him, nor should he find himself smiling in the face of adversity, but he does. The unknowns in his life are finally understood. The burning questions in his mind have found their answers. You are the key that opened his once locked heart, and now through your eyes he's able to make sense of the world around him: and truly, it's beautiful.
Diluc: Like There's Good Still in the World
For a long time, Diluc believed he would never open his heart again, not to anyone or anything. His world had already been destroyed by the death of his father and the reveal of his brother's teue identity. All the good things that were once his had been ruthlessly torn from him, his hope and optimism vanishing alongside them. His heart seemed to be wounded beyond repair, with scare hope of it ever going back to the way it once was, but that all changed when you came along and mended it. Little by little, he noticed how the sun shined bit brighter, how the bitter taste of wine grew sweeter, how your smiles made his monotone world burst teem with colors. He realized that he'd been wrong all along: goodness did exist in this world. Every time he looks at you, he's reminded of it, and he's determined to protect your heart of light that helped to guide him home to you.
Kaeya: Like There Are Second Chances
The painful memories of a day long ago had engraved themselves deep into Kaeya's heart and soul, a permanent reminder of all that he had once cherished and lost. Guilt followed him like a shadow, and loneliness clung to him like a curse. After losing all the people he loved, he thought that there would never be another place in this world for him. That was until your path converged with his, and he found himself believing that just maybe he could have another chance in this life, so long as you would have him. Indeed, the moment you accepted his affections, Kaeya knew you were a blessing sent his way, the answer to the question he'd been asking for so long: could he really start over and make things right again? With your every careful touch, every gentle kiss pressed against his skin, every comforting word whispered into his ears, the answer was an unequivocal yes. He would accept this second chance with grace, vowing this time to protect you, the person he loves -- to keep you in his arms and never let go.

Angst with a hopeful ending.
Pre-relationship reader x Diluc. Hopefully not too ooc. I tried my best to imagine what a fresh from Snezhnaya Diluc would be like. Inspired by Mizerable by Gackt. Not proof read like always.
I pretend not to notice and stared far out the small window
The angel's voice spreading in the sky was embraced by the wind
It hasn't been long since Diluc returned from the frosty tundra known as Snezhnaya. While he had changed immensely in his time away, you did not appear to. Bright and like a nice summer day, you had changed very little and yet so much. You were talking to someone else in the Angel's share. You were in the same spot you both often shared with one another, back when he was still the Naive boy he was.
He had heard your laughter when he had returned and was hit with nostalgia. You were childhood friends and your lack of presence by his side at Snezhnaya had hurt, but it was necessary. It was a good thing he never confessed his feelings for you back then, the separation would have hurt more than it did originally. He did his best not to look in your direction, it hurt to look at you. He still loved you immensely, but he knew you did not feel the same. He knew he would gaze at you with love in his eyes so he stayed away. He did not want to ruin what you had with this stranger, whom you seemed to love.
The commotion reflected in your eyes can't hear anything
Only now i murmured 'it was a trick from when I was naive' Into the sky
But, when he did catch a glimpse of you, it seemed like you were turning your head away from him as if you had been staring. When he did see your eyes, it was as if you gazed at him like you had before everything went wrong with his father and Kaeya. It was like you wished to him, yet you found yourself unable to. The distance he was creating between you two made it difficult. You were worried about him. You had been for as long as he had been gone.
He did not notice, believing your looks of conflict when you looked at him to be his own imagination playing tricks on him. You weren't looking at him to begin with, why was he convinced you were?
Turn, turn...inside the time that left me behind I am now les mizerable
You, who i loved too much is on the other side of the wall Softly smiling
You were smiling with your companion. He did not know who this nameless adventurer was. He tried not to let it bother him. You hardly knew each other now. He tried not to think of how it could be him making you smile like he had before. The gap was too large between you two and you were smiling on the other side of it. He had a feeling it was not him that was going to be the one by your side. Perhaps it was cowardly of him to not want to confront those feelings for you.
Only this feeling that cannot be fulfilled...it's filled into sighs
He wanted to imagine the warmth of your hands against his. He wanted to hear you laugh at his bad attempt at a joke again. But anytime he got close to trying to talk to you it was like he lost all courage. He has faced greater foes than this, why was he being a coward?
I relived my memories in the returning night
The melody i softly sing to myself
Is carved away by the time until it vanished
He could see it now, the friendship you two had shared. Your laughter and stories had brightened his days. Even if he loathed to admit it now, even Kaeya has brightened his days. But Kaeya did not have the same effect on him as you did. Even if some memories of your friendship was fuzzy with the aging of time, he could still feel the happiness his heart held in those days.
Where can I go to make my loneliness vanish
'I always have tomorrow...'
You did not leave Mondstat often, only leaving for a few short days at a time. He could always try to rekindle that friendship at a later time. He could deal with the loneliness, he had for a long time.
Turn, turn...inside the time that left me behind I am
now les mizerable
You the one i loved too much is on the side of the wall softly smiling
He continued to serve the customers that kept coming in, muling over your relationship with him. He watched a you continued to smile.
By the end of night though, you decided you had enough of Diluc's avoidance of you. He looked sad, yet continued to avoid you with all his power. You knew he was working tonight, so you decided to drag one of your friends to give you emotional support at the bar. They encouraged you to confront him and try to restart your friendship. If it didn't work out, then they were there to help you pick yourself back up.
“Diluc.“ You called to him at the end of the night, approaching the bar with determination. “We need to talk. Privately though.“ You watched as his face remained neutral, but his eyes gave away his panic.
“Of course,” he began, keeping the waver out of his voice. “When the last of the customers leave we can talk.“
You smiled and nodded, returning to your seat. You informed your friend of what was happening and they agreed to wait outside the bar for you. When the last customer left, you sat on a stool at the bar.
“What is it that you wished to talk about.“ The red-head in front of you asked, cleaning the glasses in front of him with his back turned to you.
“Why are you avoiding me?“ You asked outright.
“I am not avoiding you.“ He defended himself weakly. “I've just been busy.“ He continued to clean the already clean glass in front him.
“You haven't even tried to talk to me Lulu. It's like we were never friends to begin with.“ He set the glass down at your words. “Listen, It's none of my business where you ran off to or what you did there. I get that we are different people now.“ He turned to you. His eyes gave away that he wanted to cry, even if his face did not show it.
“I don't want to lose this friendship Diluc. So listen if it makes you feel better, we can restart. I won't pry on anything or about what happened. I Just want to be friends with you again.“ You both sat in heavy silence for a moment. You wiped your eyes of the wetness they had tried to develop. You looked down at the table and traced it quietly.
“Okay. We can restart.“ His voice was barely above a whisper. The vulnerability you knew he didn't like showing was on full display, and you would not mention a single thing about it. You looked up and smiled at him.
“Shake on it?“ You asked, holding out your hand to him. He gave a sigh before shaking your hand. Your beaming smile was enough to blind him. It was one that he found himself unable to return. But, the corners of his lips have the slightest of upturns.
“I know your probably tired since it's so early in the morning, so I will leave you alone now.“ You got off the stool and headed for the door. “Don't forget we shaked on it, so basically a promise.“
“I won't forget.“ He rolled his eyes, returning his focus to the glasses behing him.
“Goodnight Diluc!“ You said as you closed the door behind.
He let himself smile. He felt lighter then he had since he returned. Perhaps, this friendship wasn't something he should avoid, even if it hurt.

Re-read the letter again, and it somehow felt even more depressing.
It's like reading a letter from a long-time friend that you haven't spent some time with and is wondering if you still remember them.
It's like reading a letter from someone who misses the old times, and needs reassurance that nothing has changed between the two of you.
It's like reading a message from someone who is afraid of being estranged...
...or I am overthinking this!
But then he also ends the letter by saying "Trust me."
Somehow...it always comes back to whether or not we trust him, huh?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FAVORITE BOY!
This year's letter is, at face value, very nice and light-hearted, but looking between the lines, Kaeya also seems like he is telling us to remember him and that he misses spending time with us (truly a character that keeps reminiscing since day 1).
I say we pack our bags and go back to Mondstadt to comfort our "secretly sad" boy. HOYO TAKE US BACK TO MOND
#kaeyachi randoms#kaeya#kaeya alberich#HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAEYA#aaaaaand there we go. kaeyangst writer strikes again#i really had to make it sad huh?#but yeah just to say it again i vanished for a while because of a series of unfortunate events irl#like...what the heck is happening and why in quick succession at that??#kaeya is right we do need to see him again coz im going crazy over here

Re-reading the Kaeya de-aging fic this morning and a comment made me think about the external, longer fic idea that it came from and I am never writing. But in that larger framework, this scene, from Diluc's perspective, is actually crucial to the overall arc:
"And now I've injured him, and frightened him badly enough that he tried to run away. Jean certainly won't be impressed."
"I'm sure you can apologize," Adelinde says soothingly.
"And tell him I won't do it again? That would be a lie."
"Master Diluc-"
Diluc holds up a hand to cut off Adelinde's protest. He takes a deep breath and tries to swallow down his anger before he can frighten his employees. Not that either of them look frightened. They know the only person he's angry at is himself.
That night in the rain--he's still not sure if Kaeya deserved the lashing-out he so cruelly and deliberately provoked. Diluc has lost sleep for years now to that question. But right now Kaeya is only a child, and doesn't deserve any injury at all.
Even if he's seemed to expect it. The way he looks at Diluc even before Diluc hurt him, when he wasn't making a heartbreaking pretense of being harmless and helpful and happy to see him.... And now that injury, however accidental, has confirmed all of his fears.
"Was he always this scared of me?" Diluc asks aloud, only barely managing to bite off the follow-up. *Did I deserve it?*
He thinks perhaps he does. His memories of his youth are faded, jumbled, too many fading into a yawning blackness that had spread over them like spilled ink, the blot growing wider every step he took away from his abandoned Vision. But he remembers resentment, even fury, at seeing Father so delighted in another child. As if Diluc wasn't *enough*.
The memories linked to that feeling exist only in snatches, now. Smashing Kaeya's fingers in a drawer knowing that he would bite his lip to stay quiet and never tell Father. A locked closet and telling Jean he didn't know where his new brother went. Kaeya covered in mud and hunching his shoulders as Father scolded him for ruining his new jacket, which Diluc had been very careful only to tear, not to scorch.
Fierce satisfaction when Kaeya vanished in the chaos of a new business endeavor, simply *gone*, out of Diluc's life at last. Sickening, aching regret as Father grew pale and anxious and people started to whisper about hilichurls and bandits and business rivals, and the worst things that could happen to a small scared child if those who took him didn't even know the ransom in their hands. Guilt, when he realized how thoroughly he'd failed at all the responsibilities his future knighthood demanded.
"Not always," Adelinde says, soft and gentle and looking at him with so much understanding, so much *confirmation* in her eyes that Diluc wants to tear his gaze away. She holds it, though, as she goes on, just as gently, "He did get over it, given time and care. He will get over it again, if you give him the chance to do so."
Even as Diluc's gut twists with regret, there's relief in Adelinde's calm assurance. Diluc trusts her more than he trusts himself.
"I intend to," Diluc tells her, and is rewarded by her proud smile.

𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐍.
you were out of this world. literally. you crashed in mondstat with no recollection of yourself. your name? you didn't know it. your birthday? nothing. all you had were the clothes on your back. completely defenseless, you were approached by the knights of favonius who brought you in for interrogation. and before you knew it, you were questioned by a guy with a careful demeanor and another with a love for 'subjects'. kaeya x fem!reader x albedo.

darkness. nothingness. everything was the same. there was nothing to hold, nor see. nothing to smell, nor taste ... but the feeling. it was cold. it was something that you could grasp so easily. cold. and that was all. what was this place? was this heaven? hell? were you ... even alive? these questions grew apparent. were you even alive?
" oh come now, you must be eager to dance! come with! " a man called out, as music blared in the town of mondstadt. the night was young, and so were the drinks that were shared. the smell of fresh sticky honey roast and the beautiful live music from local bards made the entire town light up. everyone danced, sang, and clapped. couples held onto one another, and children danced as best as they could to the lively beat. a few swirled a drink in hand, faces flushing red from the intake. " my, my, it sure is lively this evening. " kaeya hummed, hands resting on his hips. " it is lovely. " jean nodded, her arms crossed as she watched the others enjoy themself. "and you aren't going to feast on the night? it will not remain this way forever you know .. " kaeya questioned the grandmaster with a sly smile. he already knew of her answer.
" i shan't. " jean shook her head, her golden ponytail swaying ever so nicely, " i fear that something may happen and i will not be able to do my job properly. therefore, i'll have to sit out for this. " jean concluded her thoughts, her smile growing a bit wider.
" now don't be so harsh on yourself sweetie ... " lisa emerged from the side, a glass of wine in hand and a sway of her hip, " the evening is lovely. though, i'd much rather be resting myself. " lisa grinned, and stood beside jean, " but you , " she gently bumped jean in her hip, " you should relax for the night. everything is fine, and it will be fine. don't let me entertain myself now. " jean sighed softly. " that's an excellent idea lisa. would you mind babysitting her, for a bit? show her an excellent time out there. " kaeya butted in.
" what!? babysit ? i'll have you know - " jean began to counter them, but lisa easily interlocked their arms together, " i'll be sure to take good care of our acting grandmaster... " and like that, she was swept away into the crowd of dancing people. after all, she did need this moment. kaeya stood there, dwelling for a moment longer before he headed back into headquarters. once entered the building, the music muffled. the singing, clapping, and chanting hushed. it made him frown only for a bit before it vanished just as quickly. he proceeded to his office.
though on his way there, he could hear a few 'clinks', and soft humming not too far from his office. the source was from albedo's office. the door was cracked, a subtle light coming from the room as well, " and then razor found dodoco for me! hehe, isn't he amazing!? " klee spoke happily, sitting in the nearest chair as she swung her legs back and forth. " indeed he is. i'll send him my thanks for that. " albedo replied, tinkering with a few chemicals and writing it in his book. " well aren't you working hard ... " kaeya hummed, knuckles brushing against the wooden door as he leaned on the doorframe, " you two are remaining indoors for the evening? "
" master jean put me on time out earlier. she found out about my fish-blasting again ... " klee pouted, her leg kicks growing bigger. " oya? " kaeya hummed, gesturing behind him, " what a shame. it's lovely out. have you learned your lesson, then? " he asked her and she quickly nodded, " i did! i promise i won't blast any more fish! even though ... it was a lot of fun... " klee blushed in a bit of embarrassment and kaeya chuckled, " excellent. now, go on. i'll have your back. enjoy yourself out there. "
klee gasped and quickly jumped onto her feet, " thank you sir kaeya! bye mister albedo! i'll see you later, 'kay!? " she waved grandly, and albedo looked over with a faint smile, " of course. have a good time, klee. " and he returned back to his work. klee rushed out of the room, and ran down the hall of the building to enjoy the world outside. " and you, mister albedo? " kaeya added on, with a tilt of his head.
" i'm not interested in social outings. i'd prefer being here working on my research," he didn't bother looking up, " hearing the events from outside is enough to make me feel included. " albedo replied.
" that's right. you aren't all that social, " kaeya nodded, " well, try not to push yourself too much this evening. if you're up for it, we could grab a drink a bit later if you're free. "
albedo remained silent. " i'll be leaving now! " kaeya smiled, and albedo nodded. " have a good evening~ " and kaeya shut the door, returning to his office. it was silent there. and he had a wonderful view of the town. it was nice, and yet, he wasn't out there.

the stars glistened and gleamed in the clear sky. the moon complimented them, and the breeze was as relaxing as ever. the stars twinkled, and a few falling stars shot through the sky. however, there was one that seemed brighter than the rest. it burned like fire, and unlike the other stars, this "star" seemed to grow closer. and closer. until it crashed in front of the large tree in windrise and the anemo statue.
" sir kaeya! " a knight called from outside of the cryo user's door. " enter. " kaeya spoke calmly as the door swiftly opened, " there's been a reported issue! " well that piqued his interest. " it's important, sir. something ... no, someone , fell from the heavens. " the knight seemed a bit uneasy, and yet kaeya stood onto his feet without further question, " take me to the scene. "
said scene was located in windrise. the grass that was once there was burned away, and particles of rock lay scattered. ash emerged from the scene; incredibly thick. there laid a human - body covered poorly by white fabric. there were minor cuts, and bruises, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. they grew completely conscious of their surroundings. greenery. leaves. the howling wind. the smell of oak and lemongrass. people ... knights ... evil? you held onto the worn-down cloth tightly as you watched these people surround you.
" halt! do not move from your spot, please! " a man ordered, not that you could understand in the moment. these people had weapons ... and you felt a bit threatened. scurrying backward, your body covered in ash, and smoke getting in your lugs. you coughed, completely desperate for air.
" ah, sir kaeya! " a knight called out as kaeya made his presence known. with his sword attached to his hip tightly, he advanced through the line of knights. he held a serious expression until he made it to the front, and your eyes met his lone one. and his expression softened. why? you were terrified.
you weren't a threat.
despite your choking, you kept your eyes on the man, until your vision began to blur. tears formed in your eyes and your attention was then shifted on yourself. your coughing had you at risk of vomiting.
" water, " kaeya snapped his fingers, " get her some water. " there was a quick 'yes sir ' before they scurried around to find a water source. luckily, someone kept a water pouch on their person. " here you are, sir. " the pouch was placed in kaeya's hand and he uncapped it before approaching you carefully. kneeling down, he offered the pouch for you to take.
" here. it's water. take it. " you were hesitant at first, but then you eventually gave in. accepting the water, you quickly began to drink. " relax now. wouldn't want you to choke. " his voice was gentle. oddly. it was nice to listen to. you downed the entire pouch, and he merely took it back and stood on his feet. " are you able to stand? " he peered over you, and you looked up at him. you nodded and rose to your feet.
even so, he offered a hand to you, and you looked at him skeptically. accepting the offer, you took it. after all, you had no reason to resent him. he did nothing but help you. " sir kaeya, " a knight called, and the 'pirate' looked over, " here's a blanket. " he offered said object, just something to cover your nearly naked body. " ah , thank you. " he nodded, and carefully draped the blanket over your shoulders. tan fingers trailed over the hem of the fabric and gave an affirmative tug, " all set. let's get going. "
you didn't know where he was taking you, but you knew it would be foolish to go against this man. there were so many guards with him, so you figured that this was the only option. your feet planted in the grass, as you looked around at the tall buildings. as you grew closer to them, the music grew louder. it was relaxing, and you felt moved by the rhythm. you entered the city, and you weren't looked at too much. everyone was enjoying themself. you looked around, eyes sparkling under the lamps of the night. that is until you found yourself met at the stairs that led up to hq.
you were led up by a few knights and ... the pirate. you couldn't catch his name, but you shivered once you entered. " kaeya! " jean called out, and you turned to look at the woman. she seemed a bit worried, and yet upset. " i heard what happened and came quickly. " she nodded at kaeya, as if she were praising him for his work. he handled the situation very nicely, and she was thankful that he did. and then her eyes glared at you, and you looked away, moving a bit to hide behind kaeya.
" please fill in me. i've contacted the sisters at the cathedral, they'll be on their way. " jean mentioned. she realized how tense she may have come across, and she sighed a bit, " i'm sorry. you must be a bit shaken up. " you finally looked at her, and she loosened up quickly. she placed a hand on her chest, " is it ... true? that ... you fell from the sky in some kind of meteorite? " she asked the big question, and yet you refused to answer.
kaeya confirmed that fact with a single glance. " do you have any idea where you are, then? from your attire ... " blue eyes eyed you down, and jean frowned softly, and sighed. " forgive me. this is improper of me. " she apologized swiftly, " i'm jean, the dandelion knight. you are currently in the hands of the knights of favonius; of mondstadt. " she introduced herself. " the young man beside you, is kaeya, the cavalry captain. " your eyes looked over at him, whom merely smiled. " and this ... is lisa. the librarian. "
the goal for jean was to help you establish your grounds. to make you feel comfortable. " before i question you any more, i would like to tend to your injuries. they do not seem major, but i do not want them to go unattended. followed with this, i'll offer you proper attire, and a meal. does that sound alright? " her tone changed quickly, and you wondered if it was okay for you to drop some of your guard. you nodded your head in understanding, as another young blonde enter the building.
" this is barbara. she will be the one tending to your injuries. " jean was swift to motion toward her, and she smiled. " it's nice meeting you ... " barbara smiled, and approached you, " please don't fret. i promise i'll take excellent care of you! " she was nice. you stared at her, and returned her smile. she was kind, and you trusted her. barbara carefully took your hands into her own, " i'll lead you to the washrooms, and tend to any wounds you may have! " she instructed, all while pulling you away.
jean sighed softly, rubbing at her temple, " i knew it. " she sighed, " something happened, and i wasn't there first. " she frowned, and lisa placed a hand on her shoulder, " but you are here now. we are all here to help. besides, i think kaeya did a lovely job in your place! " she tried to uplift the blonde, and kaeya chuckled. " do i not receive any praise from the acting grandmaster? "
" no, no , " jean sighed, " your performance was outstanding. i thank you. both. " she smiled softly and took a deep breath.
the issue is only that you were nameless. you didn't speak, and you didn't have a vision. was this really the right thing to do? then again ... humans are not birthed from the stars. were you even human? where did you come from?
could you be trusted in the walls of mondstadt?

that night, as ayato refers to it in his head, left him wounded and reeling and never wholly himself again. that night, where you had kissed him gently, too gently for the words cutting out of your mouth, and then left. that night, where you had vanished without a trace and promised you'd be back. that night, two years ago.
you had been eating a picnic dinner in front of the kamisato estate, the waves lapping at your bare feet, leaning against his shoulder. moonlight had wreathed his face in a holy glow, and a sharp pang of regret had dug itself into your ribs and stayed there. did you really have to leave? couldn't you just stay here, frozen in time, on this sandy beach, with the man you loved?
"ayato," you tell him, leaning into his ear. "i've got something to tell you."
he rests his chin against you, leaning his cheek on the crown of your head. "what is it, love?"
and suddenly you don't want to tell him, but the words are out of your mouth before you can stop them, and he draws away from you, hurt flashing in his brilliant blue eyes. he caresses your cheekbone with his finger, telling you it'll be okay, it'll be fine, you'll be back before the blink of an eye, it'll be okay.
his heart protests as he wraps ice around it, willing himself not to cry. he's not emotional; never will be. you smile at him, telling him thank you for being so understanding, telling him i love you and i'll miss you and thanking archons that he isn't upset.he nods through the rest of the night, numb and hot and cold all at once.
and then you leave, and there's a sinking pit in his stomach, because he wonders if you'll ever come back. how many years, he wonders, can he go without you until he withers up and fades away?
kaveh |
he's never been overly sappy with you, choosing instead to shower you with trips and picnics, flirtatious smiles and fancy dinners (although how he affords it, you don't know), as he's done with every other one of his lovers. he's considered himself a man of strong self-worth, never shattering when he's been dumped.
something about you, though, has him on his knees. he wants to beg and plead until you stay, cry and confess his love to you a thousand times. he's not a very emotional man; ask anyone. the pain in his eyes makes you want to stay and take his face in your hands and kiss him until he feels better, but you've got to go. a droplet of rain hits the back of your neck, making you shiver.
"i have to go. i think it'll be good for you, maybe you can branch out--" you start, but he cuts you off. he reaches for you, taking your hands in his.
"do you think i would want anyone else but you? all the days we spent together, did those mean nothing to you?" he pleads of you. wind whips your hair into your eyes, and he reaches forward and tucks it behind your ear. you've never seen him so vulnerable, and you have to leave before you can't.
and so you do, turning your back on him, leaving him standing in front of the akademiya, a dark silhouette against the cold, troubled sky.
"i'll wait for you," he calls after you. "i'll wait forever and ever until you come back."
kaeya alberich |
kaeya's never loved anyone as much as he's loved you, and between his devil-may-care exterior, and the way he won't share anything with anyone, you hadn't realized. when you tell him you're leaving, he's drops his wine glass. it shatters, and he steps over it, reaching for your arm. "no, love," he says, eyes desperately searching your face.
you swallow back a lump in your throat as you step away. "i have to go, kaeya," you tell him, tears pressing behind your eyes.
the sun highlights your body, and he thinks bitterly that you've never looked more perfect than you are now. it's the middle of the day, and you're on the balcony, his wineglass at his feet, shattered and akin to his heart.
you press your lips together to stop them from trembling and whisper, "i'll come back, kaeya. i promise."
he can't conjure up a response, instead turning away and leaning against the railings, looking down at the sidewalk below. he's tense; you want to change your mind and throw yourself at him and hug him and never let him go but.
but.
"if you're going," he says thickly, refusing to look at you, "then go."
his split heart doesn't pick itself up until many years later.
xiao |
xiao has known pain, agony so deep and gut-wrenching it doubles him over. xiao has known loneliness and sadness. he has known ecstasy--but only after he met you.
he always thought the two of you were perfect, forever a package deal, a pair. you clearly had different plans, and now his pain is back, familiar and terrifying.
"xiao," you plead, "it's not for forever."
he takes a deep breath, inhaling the petrichor air, the rich smell of the ground that you're lying on. rain pelts his face and his hands and his hair, beading on your eyelashes and concealing the tears that trickle down your cheek and into your hair.
you watch him anxiously, considering turning towards him and taking his hand until he looks at you, maybe--
"oh, my love," he says finally, turning towards you. there are so many words he could say. with you, i am happy. i am calm and safe. i can smile and laugh. with you, i am complete. he says none of these, instead opting for, "why?"
you blink away more tears, raising your arm to shield your face from his cut-glass gaze, his hurt eyes. i love you, you want to blurt. i'll always love you. but it'll hurt more, and instead, you get up and turn away. "i'll miss you, xiao," you tell him. "i'll come back."
he watches your retreating form, wondering where he went wrong. how many more years would he spend back in grayscale, without you to light up his days with splashes of aquamarine and vermillion?

Returning Home (Kaeya x Reader)
As Kaeya walked away from Dainsleif and the Traveler, his smile slowly fell. That was it; the beginning of the end for your relationship. Soon you would know of his connection with Khaenri'ah and his relation to the man who started it all. He began his way to the spice merchant he was to meet.
The discussion of the spices went by in a blur, and before Kaeya knew it, he was on a boat back to Liyue. The trip gave him time to plan. He considered himself a selfless being, but just for one more night, he wished to bask in your presence. The plan was simple, spend one more night sleeping next to you, holding you, and then vanish before the fireworks could begin. Kaeya didn't believe he could handle another Diluc-like incident.
The gates to Mondstadt looked the same, but they didn't feel the same. Kaeya supposed this was just his mind getting ready for the inevitable change that was soon to befall him. Looking up at your shared home, he softly sighed and tried to put on the best mask he could muster.
Kaeya sauntered into your shared home as quietly as possible. He arrived home late after his trip to Sumeru and didn't want to wake you. It also didn't help that he had a lot to think about. Knowing you and the Traveler, you would be in the know shortly.
Getting out of his head, Kaeya slipped off his boots and padded to your shared bed. At least he would have this glorious night. A night where you were ignorant of his truth, and the look of disgust was still absent from your face. The same scornful look Diluc wore when the truth was revealed to him.
Climbing in and pulling up your shared covers, he paused when he heard a groan from you. His eye met yours, and a soft smile bloomed across your face. "You're finally back," you sleepily said as your arms opened wide. "Come here, big guy." Normally, Kaeya would tiredly collapse into your embrace, but something made him hesitate. Even while donning his best everything-is-ok act, he was still vulnerable to your calming presence. Sensing his hesitation, you blinked to wake yourself up a tad more and asked, "What's wrong?"
Kaeya kept a straight face, as he always tried to do around you, but you knew. His face may have been the picture of indifference, but his twitchy hands gave him away. As soon as your pointed gaze fell on them, he hid his hands behind his back. "Nothing is wrong, sweetling," Kaeya brushed off your concern with a laugh. He was about to start forming his well-crafted lie when he saw the hurt look on your face.
You shook your head to get rid of the grogginess and show your disapproval of his behavior. Sitting on the edge of your shared bed, you coax Kaeya to sit next to you, "Please, Kaeya, I thought we were past this." Grabbing his hand tenderly, you start to remove his glove and stroke his naked hand with care. Thinking back to all of the hurt caused by his brother, you hold his hand a little tighter.
What was wrong with Diluc for abandoning his own family like that? You never found out what happened during their argument, but you couldn't think of a single justifiable reason for Diluc to do such a thing. Noticing the tension in Kaeya's shoulders starting to evaporate, you slowly ask, "Does this have something to do with Diluc?" Kaeya's eyes flitted away from you, in turn grabbing your ire for his brother, "It's got to be him. Did he say something about it again? Just because you had one argument doesn't give him the right to speak so poorly of you or mistreat you-" Ordinarily, you would have continued rambling, but the shine of Kaeya's tear streaks stopped you right in your tracks.
Kaeya clenched the hand you weren't holding. Why did you have to make losing you so hard? He should have tried harder to keep his cool; he's an expert at that when you aren't around. You always make everything feel too much. The hand holding, the care you give so freely to a sinner like him. He wanted one more night, but now that he's allowed the floodgates to open, he knows that is out of the picture.
You move to try and hug him close to your chest, but for the first time, he resists. Kaeya decided he had to go out on his own terms; he couldn't just leave you in the dark and leave in the morning. Taking a deep breath, Kaeya shakily whispers, "I have to tell you about what happened with Diluc."
-------------------------
The rain was falling over Mondstadt in sheets, and the world was overcome in curtains of water. Crepus' death should have been a hard hit for both of them, but the grief Kaeya should have been feeling was overshadowed by the immense relief he felt. Finally, he could be free from this internal anguish.
As he gazed upon his mourning brother and his father's dead body, a smirk was present on his face, "The world is truly... fascinating." When the other knights came and whisked Crepus' body away for safekeeping, Kaeya swiftly slinked away as well. Putting his hands behind his head, Kaeya whistled a happy tune. Finally, all his worries were deceased. There was no longer a fine balance he had to maintain between his homeland and Mondstadt. He would know what side to pick... Or would he?
It's not as though Crepus was his only tie to this place; he loved Diluc as well. And where was Diluc now? At home, alone, and grieving. What kind of brother was he? Here Kaeya was, reveling in the death of their father while his brother was beside himself. What had Khaenri'ah turned him into?
There was no denying it now. Before, when Kaeya was doing his knightly training and helping the people of Mondstadt, he could put the thought in the back of his mind, but in the wake of this tragedy, the idea blared impossibly loud in his brain. He is the villain. He is a spy sent from an opposing nation, acting as its people's friend when he will always be the outsider. Even his looks were different from the rest; there's only one blue-haired tan person in Mondstadt, and that's him.
Kaeya's thoughts kept spiraling, but some small piece of him still had hope. The small piece that Mondstadt had instilled in him as he was growing up. As a small child, his birth father told him of the fruitlessness of the Khaenrian struggle, but growing up with Crepus and Diluc showed him that ambition and optimism were not exclusive to those who hailed from one of the seven nations. Kaeya felt that love and joy when he was with the two of them, his family.
This hope is what led him to the Dawn Winery's front door. He noticed none of the staff was there and became thankful. What he was about to say was best kept between the family. Kaeya stood at the door for longer than necessary, working up the courage to knock. Taking a deep breath, he knocked, and he hoped.
Diluc saw the drenched and sad state of his brother before yanking open the door, "Kaeya! Thank Barbatos, you're alright." Diluc attempted to pull Kaeya inside, but he resisted, "Come on, brother. You're going to catch your death in-"
Before Diluc could continue his worrying, Kaeya took a step back and gravely said, "Diluc, I have to tell you something."
Hesitantly, Diluc quietly asked, "What is it?" You could scarcely hear his voice over the raindrops.
Kaeya looked Diluc in the eye but soon lost his resolve and looked away. Gulping on nothing, he told the truth, "I'm from Khaenri'ah, and I was sent here to serve Khaenrian interests." A long silence befell the two of them.
Eventually, Diluc was the one to break it, "Come now, brother, this is no time for jokes." He took a step forward so the rain was soaking his clothes just as it was soaking Kaeya's, "Let's stop this jest, go inside, get warmed up, and maybe- perhaps-" A choked sob cut Diluc off.
Kaeya hadn't even noticed Diluc had started to cry; the rain kept their faces drenched in water. But Diluc wasn't the only one crying; Kaeya was as well. Diluc questioned, "Are you absolutely sure? What if there was a mistake? What if-" It had only taken Diluc a mere five seconds to discern that Kaeya was telling the truth, and as soon as that realization dawned upon him, his sadness turned into anger. Kaeya's star-like pupils had given his heritage away.
Diluc's greatsword materialized, and his hand clenched around it with such force that his gloves were straining against the force of his action. Taking a hot angry intake of air, Diluc clearly stated, "Then you are a threat to Mondstadt, and you must be taken care of." With a stance that oozed confidence, Diluc raised his sword and almost struck Kaeya. If not for Kaeya's impressive dodging skills, he would have been cut clean in two.
Eyes and mouth wide open, Kaeya turned to Diluc, "Can't we discuss this? What about being brothers?" Again, Diluc had moved to attack Kaeya.
Slightly out of breath, Diluc declared, "You forfeited that right the moment you were born, Khaenrian." Those words cut Kaeya straight to the bone. He couldn't have been more wrong. How was he so foolish as to think there was any place in this world for a Khaenrian like him.
Soon after Kaeya came to his depressing conclusion, his sword materialized in his hands, and the brothers were knocking back blow after blow. Their Favonious training was promulgating off of them in waves. Kaeya was losing ground fast. The battle was unfair from the start; the only thing keeping Kaeya's clothes unburned was the never-ending rain.
As the fighting continued, Kaeya was gradually forced back off of the winery's courtyard and onto the muddy ground. Just as Diluc was readying his final blow, Kaeya felt a burst of elemental energy. He clung to this power with all of his might to save his life. Cryo met Pyro, and a swirling wind erupted between the two of them, blowing each back. Using this distraction, Kaeya slipped away, never to grace Dawn Winery as an inhabitant but only as an occasional visitor.
-----------------
By the end of Kaeya's story, you were in tears. The story was a lot to take in. Distancing yourself from Kaeya, you stare down at your hands in contemplation, "So, that's what happened..." Glancing at his eyepatch, you have one question in mind, "Are you- I mean- What I'm trying to say is-" Sighing, you work up the courage to get it out, "Are you like a Hilichurl?"
Kaeya snorted and shook his head, "No, I'm not like a hilichurl; I can assure you that I am entirely human." Sensing the lightening mood, you softly caress his right cheek.
Almost, but not quite, touching his eyepatch, you ask, "Then what's this for?" Kaeya's head jerked away at the question, and his smile fell. Your hand fell back down to your lap, and you looked away as well. That was definitely too far, "I'm sorry, Kaeya."
Your words made his heart clench. He just revealed that he's been lying to you since you met, and here you are apologizing. Why weren't you angry? Why were you fine with this? Why weren't you like Diluc? If you were like Diluc, he could deal with this. He could right off your love, but you weren't like Diluc, were you? But you should be.
"What is your problem? Why aren't you brandishing your weapons right now? Your love for me is clearly gone. Oho, wait, is this just an act?" Kaeya's voice quickly changed from angry to merry, but he wasn't done concocting his story, "Just a way to harm the sinner as much as possible. You really had me going there for a bit, believing you still loved me-" You had to cut him off; this couldn't continue, "But I still do love you!"
Kaeya squinted at you, "I can easily see through lies, darling. Weren't you paying attention to my story? I'm the king of liars."
Inching closer to him, you urged, "But you don't have to be. You just told me the truth." Reiterating your point, you quietly say, "It doesn't have to be the way it was before."
As you scooted nearer to Kaeya, he stood from the bed and went to stand at the opposite end of your bedroom. Smirking, Kaeya continued on his tirade, "Oh yes, it does, because no one can ever love a Khaenrian, a sinner, a liar, an enemy of the state-"
He was about to continue listing all of the things he hated about himself, but you sprung from the bed to hug him with all of your might. Your words were muffled because your face was to his chest, "I don't care, Kaeya, I love you, and your words won't stop me." As soon as you had hugged him, Kaeya stiffened. All was silent for a while, but the silence was broken by Kaeya's sniffles.
Starting to rub his back soothingly, you say, "There there. It's ok. Let it all out," in repetition until he's able to calm down.
After a few minutes or so, Kaeya asks, "Are you sure; are you really sure?"
Still, within the hug, you nod against him, "I wish you had told me sooner, but the truth will never stop me from loving you." You pulled back from the hug a tad bit to look him in the eye, "I think I'm going to need some time to trust you again, but if you're willing to help me through that, I'm ready to help you. So, please don't believe you're unworthy of love just because of your heritage." At your words, Kaeya pulled you into the hug tighter. All was not well, but if you two worked on your relationship, it soon would be. A/N: I hope you enjoyed if you got to this part!
