How to train your dragon 3
So, I just finished watching httyd 3 and oh my god.
This movie gave me so many feels I was overwhelmed with emotions, more than usual anyways (which is saying something).
To compare I have not cried more than I did tonight because of a movie, scince infinity war. Maybe even more.
The animation is terrific. I love how they change the characters age in every movie. It really is realistic and absolutely beautiful.
Gobber has become sort of a bobby figure if you know what I mean seeing him cry made me cry harder. He is the closest connection Hiccup has to his father, besides maybe his mom.
Fishlegs has the most ridiculous facial hair I have ever seen, it's a mustache that's braided at the ends, perfect. He has really grown up to be the dragon nerd we all knew he would.
Snoutlout is an under appreciated charector I think, he isn't just comedic relief. He wants to fit in and become a real family with the rest of the gang but he hides that with his manly demeanor. I really hope he gets his happy ending.
The twins are as amazing as ever,  Toughnut braids his hair together in front to look like a beard and Roughnut has a very nice braids to the side thing going on. She is literally my queen. Wish they had a bit more serious screen time and sibling bonding though.
Astrid is so most definitely Hiccup’s soulmate. She is Honest all the time and I think that is what Hiccup needs. They can mess around and be cute but she is not going to be a trophy wife or live in Hiccups shadow. To quote Toughnut, “She is a warrior QUEEN!” She doesn't want to get married and while Hiccup does, though he won't admit it he will wait until they are both ready. He listens to her and she listens to him. They love each other unconditionally and they can get through anything together.
Hiccup is Hiccup, stubborn, brave and willing to do anything for those he loves. He is struggling with being chief especially when they are threatened by a villain who he underestimated. (And who I have my own theories about) we also get flashbacks to when he was small with Stoic and those are some of the best scenes in the movie. I said no spoilers but if you've seen the trailers it's not really a spoiler, Toothless finds a ‘light fury’ and as you can guess they fall for each other through a series of hilarious, adorable and slightly heartbreaking scenes. Hiccup struggles with letting go of more than just Toothless and I really enjoyed how they portrayed it in a children's movie.
My last thoughts are about the other reason that this movie made me completely breakdown. When I was little one of my strongest memories is of going to movies with my family, and the first one I remember ever seeing was the first How To Train Your Dragon. It was in 3D and I immediately fell completely in love, I was obsessed. For a child of four I was very passionate about this movie. I got a stuffed puppet after the movie of a dragon. It didn't look remotely like Toothless but it was the best I could get. I treasured that dragon. And as the credits were rolling I realized that this was most likely the last time I would ever see Hiccup or Toothless or Snotlout or the twins or Astrid on the big screen ever again. This was it. The last time and I cried so hard when I had to leave that theater.
Goodbye, Hiccup
Goodbye, Toothless
Goodbye, everyone
I'm going to miss you so much.

The Darkcup Chronicles: How to train your prize - 4
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I finally had some time to write over the holidays. Hope you’ll enjoy it.
_____________
The next time Astrid woke, everything around her was dark. There was no lingering dizziness this time, a dull pain in her lower body wiping away any traces of mist in her head, and the memories of Hiccup using and abusing her and of his words were clear in her mind. At first, she worried he might have blindfolded her in addition to chaining her to his bed. But it didn't take long for her to realize that she'd been mistaken.
She wasn't bound and instead could move freely. She was naked again but could get up and out of the otherwise empty bed without anything holding her back. When she sat up, the dull pain flared up into something more fierce though. It shot through her body like lightning, as if it was tearing her apart, making her whimper.
Through the pain, she noticed that she wasn't blindfolded either. Through a window in the roof fell silvery moonlight, dimly illuminating the hut around her. On a stool next to the bed she spotted her clothes and despite the pain that kept flaring up at every movement she quickly got dressed again, feeling safer now that she wasn't naked anymore. Although, that hadn't helped her at all the last time either…
Once she was dressed, Astrid pondered what to do now. She had to get away! Hiccup was insane. Maybe she could run over to one of their friends' huts, tell them what happened, and... But no. Just thinking about telling Snot, Fishlegs, or the twins made her shudder in humiliation. Besides, they wouldn’t believe her anyway. If she wasn’t feeling the pain in her throat and between her legs from how rough Hiccup had used her, she wouldn’t believe it either. He’d always been so gentle, so warm and friendly…
She sobbed quietly, straining her sore throat and a few desperate tears ran down her cheeks. How was it possible that she’d misjudged him so thoroughly? She remembered all his tender gestures, how he would make her small but meaningful gifts, his warm smiles, how worried he’d been when she’d been infected by the Scourge of Odin. All that had been real, hadn’t it?
Pushing that thought away for now, Astrid slowly climbed down the stairs on wobbly legs. She could hear Toothless snoring in one corner down in Hiccup's workshop, so she mustn't make any noise if she wanted to escape this madness. Once she'd reached the first floor, she also spotted Hiccup, his sleeping form hunched over a table. Apparently, he'd been working on something until he'd fallen asleep. Again.
The sight sent fresh pain through her body, but it was a different kind of pain. How many times had she found him like this and had woken him so he'd relocate to his bed or had at least put a blanket over him? But this time, she did neither, didn't even want to. On the contrary, spotting him made her freeze and hold her breath, afraid he might wake up and do only Odin knew what to her.
A shiver ran down her spine when she realized that she was honestly afraid of Hiccup. She was still certain that she could easily win against him in a fight - but only so long as it was a fair fight. And he’d already proven that he wasn’t intending on being fair in any way, that he wasn’t above using drugs and poison against her. Or Toothless, as it seemed.
Her eyes flickered to the snoring shadow in his corner, gulping when she remembered how the dragon had threatened her. No, she definitely couldn’t stay here. As quietly as she could, Astrid tiptoed toward the exit, wincing at the noises of the gate shifting open. Her eyes never left the sleeping forms, praying that they wouldn't wake up.
She could hardly believe it when she’d made it outside without being noticed. She glanced over to her hut, pondering whether to hurry there first to get her ax and maybe a dagger or two but decided against it. It was a miracle that she’d made it outside and she couldn’t waste any time now.
She ran along the bridges, passing Snotlout and Hookfang as they slept during their watch, as always. Again, the thought of waking them crossed her mind but she pushed it away again. What good would that do her? If she wasn’t able to stand up against this Hiccup then neither of their friends would be able to either. Instead, she ran toward the stables, waking Stormfly and saddling her in a hurry. She had to get away.
And she needed answers. There was something Hiccup had said last night that wouldn’t leave her in peace. He’d been so sure that he had the right to do what he’d done and he’d said that she’d agreed to all this, she and her parents, too. The only thing he could have meant was the wedding contract they all had consented to before witnesses… But agreeing to marry him wasn’t the same as agreeing to become his sex slave, was it? But then, she hadn’t read the over twenty pages Stoick had brought over. And the bride price he and Hiccup had offered to pay had been obscene! Yes, she needed answers, and the only way she could get them was by flying back to Berk. She had to talk to her parents, maybe even to Stoick and to take a look at that contract. She wasn’t sure what good that would do her, but she just had to know. Maybe there was a way out. Maybe it would be enough to make Hiccup see reason...
The hours-long flight back to Berk seemed to drag out endlessly. Every few minutes Astrid turned around on her dragon’s back and searched the horizon for a black spot. By now, Hiccup must have noticed that she was gone and she was sure that he wouldn’t like that. Without a doubt, he would look for her, follow her. What would he do if he found her? The thought made her shiver. “Come on, girl. Faster,” she urged Stormfly on. If only she managed to reach Berk before he caught up to her. With her parents and Stoick and the entire village around, he couldn’t do much, right?
She hadn’t known just how afraid she’d been of getting caught, not until Stormfly landed in the middle of Berk and people greeted her, clear surprise to see her here on many faces. Ignoring them and their questions, Astrid walked straight over to her parents’ house. Her mother greeted her with a happy if bewildered smile, hugging her tightly.
“Oi, Astrid! I didn’t expect to see you here again so soon. Did you forget something?”
Astrid forced a smile on her face and was about to answer when her father appeared in the door that led back into his workshop. His eyes brightened when he saw her, even as his lips twitched into something of a smirk. “Now, that’s a surprise. What are you doing here, lass? I didn’t think you and Hiccup would leave your Dragons’ Edge for anything in the coming weeks.” He laughed.
“Oh, behave you!” his wife chided him, but there was a smirk on her face, too, one Astrid didn’t like.
“What do you mean?” she asked hesitantly. She had an idea what they meant, but still.
Her father laughed even harder and her mother fondly rolled her eyes at him. “It’s okay, Astrid. We all know for how long you and Hiccup have been in love now. And with you two being betrothed now and the wedding contract being signed and all, nobody expects you to wait any longer.” She gave Astrid a conspiratorial wink.
Despite her reason to come here in the first place, Astrid was momentarily distracted. “Wait, you all think, we… we already...” She trailed off, perplexed. Was that why the people outside had looked funny at her? But weren’t they supposed to wait until they were truly married before they had sex?
“Well, have you?” Again, her mother gave her that slight smirk.
Astrid couldn't help it; she had to avert her face, biting her lip and defensively crossing her arms in front of her. All too well, she remembered Hiccup above her, gazing down at her with those intense eyes of his as he pushed into her. She remembered how helpless she’d felt, bound to his bed and her body betraying her, enjoying what he did despite her not wanting it. And she remembered the anger in his eyes last night, how he’d used her without mercy.
The pain was still there, even though it had lessened by now.
"Don't worry, my dear," her mother tore her out of her disturbing memories. "Nobody is going to judge you."
"Uh, what?"
Her mother's smile softened. "We know what you feel for each other. Freja, the entire village knew, for years. What do you think why there was never any talk about him marrying for an alliance? Because even Stoick knows that his son never wanted anyone but you. And we're so happy for you. A love like yours is bound to last forever."
Astrid was feeling sick. Yes, it was her Hiccup wanted, but she wouldn’t call it love. Not anymore. If only her mother knew how wrong she was, knew what Hiccup really wanted. But before she could say anything, her father interrupted her.
"Aye. The entire family is happy for you. And even more so since this wedding is going to clear our name of the shame my brother brought over us. It’s already noticeably changed things around here. Both your brothers’ beloveds were finally able to accept their proposal and the price the Haddocks paid for you was enough for them to pay the respective bride prices, too. And there’s still enough left so that no Hofferson is going to starve this winter. You better keep that lad happy." He winked, grinning.
Astrid felt sick. If her father knew the truth, then... "Yeah, about that," she went on and tried to put a light tone into her voice. "I wanted to take another look at the wedding contract. Hiccup implied there's something in there about me having to ‘obey his every wish’ now and I came here to prove him wrong, so…" She trailed off when both her parents burst out laughing at the same time. It bewildered Astrid but at least they took her comment as the joke she'd wanted it to sound like. "So it isn't true?" she asked. Maybe, if she could use this to bring Hiccup to his sense then…
"Oh, aye, it's true alright," her mother giggled and winked at her.
"And… you agreed to that?" Astrid was shocked.
Laughing, her father shook his head. “Astrid, lass, that’s just a relic from older times. We all know Hiccup isn’t like that. And neither are you, bowing to a man’s every whim.”
Biting back any visible reaction, Astrid said, “So, that’s something every marriage contract contains? And it's just that nobody acts on it anyway?”
Her parents shared a strange look. “Well, no, not exactly,” her mother said. “Usually, contracts nowadays are much simpler. But Hiccup is going to be the next chief and tradition dictates that he marries by these old phrases. We didn’t even know about that until Stoick brought the contract.” She shrugged, still grinning. “But don’t worry, nobody expects you to yield to this. You’re a smart woman, Astrid. You’ll figure out how to make your husband do what you want instead.” She winked again.
Astrid gulped. Her parents seemed so sure… But they were wrong! Hiccup was like that, expected her to follow his sick orders. And apparently, he had the right to do so! And if she refrained and broke the contract, her word, she’d bring shame over her entire family. All hopes to somehow use logic and sense to change Hiccup's behavior were lost. Except...
Fighting against her shaking legs, she turned to the exit.
"You're already leaving again?"
Astrid nodded at her mother's question. "Yes. I want to talk to Stoick. Do you know where he is?"
"It's Odin's Day so he should be up in the Meade Hall."
That was good. At least she wouldn't need to search for him then. The idea of telling the Chief about what his son had done to her was mortifying. But hopefully, he would be able to talk sense into Hiccup. It was the last option she could think of. However, the moment she opened the door, all thoughts and emotions left her mind, all but one.
Panic.
Hiccup stood right in front of her, his hand raised as if to knock. When he saw her, wild anger flashed up in his eyes but the expression was gone in an instant. Instead, he smiled warmly.
"Ah, here you are, Astrid," he greeted her, nodding at her parents behind her. He sounded normal, friendly and maybe a little awkward, just like always when in front of her father. "I was worried when you weren't at the Edge anymore this morning. Why didn't you tell anyone where you were going?"
Astrid shuddered when he wrapped an arm around her waist and placed a kiss on her forehead. Her instincts told her to shy away from him after what he did to her, but he held her firmly and she was too stunned to put more force into getting away from him. He seemed so… normal! Just like he’d always been. Was that really just an act? “I...I’m-” she stammered.
“Oh, she just had a question,” her mother helpfully jumped in, then shooed them both outside. “But now, you better get on your way back. Not that we mind the company, but I doubt you’re planning to stay here for the night?”
“No, we’ll return right away. There’s still lots to do at Dragon’s Edge. Come on, Astrid.”
Everything inside her was urging her to protest as Hiccup pulled her along, but at the same time, she didn’t dare to do it. She had to do something but making a scene in front of her parents and in the middle of Berk’s streets wouldn’t do her much good.
“Is anything the matter here?”
Astrid jumped at the Chief’s booming voice and eagerly turned to greet him. If she got the chance to talk to him… Stoick and Gobber just came down from the Meade Hall, and she and Hiccup met them halfway. She was trying to come up with an excuse to talk to either of the older men alone when she noticed their eyes on her. Examining, scrutinizing. As if they were looking for something specific.
“What is she doing here, Hiccup? I thought you…” Stoick said in a low voice, the tone meaningful even as he trailed off at the end.
“Oh, it’s nothing, Dad. We’re already on our way back. This was just a,” he threw a heated glance at Astrid next to him, “minor interruption. Everything will go as planned.”
Astrid’s eyes went wide as the realization hit her. There was no point in talking to Stoick or Gobber, the way they nodded and eyed her made that clear. They knew perfectly well what Hiccup had done to her – and planned to do again – and didn’t object to it. Even supported it.
Her mind was whirling as Hiccup pulled her along to where Toothless and Stormfly were waiting for them. “What are you going to do?” she asked, unable to keep fear from lacing her voice.
Hiccup didn’t answer though, only gripped her a little tighter and didn’t let go of her even when they reached their dragons. As if to make sure she wouldn’t make a run for it. Her gaze flickered to Stormfly, somehow hoping her dragon might protect her. But from the way her Nadder looked from her to Hiccup and Toothless and back again, nervously tripping from one foot to the other and the low growl coming from Toothless’ throat, it became clear that her dragon couldn’t help her even though she clearly wanted to.
With his free hand, Hiccup fumbled in a pocket of his tunic then pulled out a shiny silvery flask. “Drink this,” he ordered, shoving the flask into her hand.
Astrid gritted her teeth. “What is it?” she hissed. “More drugs?”
Again, Hiccup didn’t answer but he also didn’t need to. The icy glare he shot her, so different from the warm smile from earlier, was answer enough.
Astrid scoffed. “And what makes you think I’ll drink it? You can’t force me to drink it, not without my parents and everyone else noticing how sick you are!”
An expression of hot rage crossed Hiccup’s otherwise calm features. It was gone quickly but it told Astrid enough of how thin this front of his really was. She shuddered as he stepped closer, both hands on her hips now, holding her close enough for her to feel the heat of his groin and brought his mouth to her ear.
“You’re right, I can’t make you do so here,” he growled, even as one hand went up to her neck, squeezing slightly and tipping her head back a little. It would look like just a loving gesture but Astrid knew better. “But ask yourself, do you truly want people to see you fighting against me? Think of what would happen. If your dear father thinks you’re unhappy and comes running to support you. If he attacks me.”
Astrid paled. Her father would get killed on the spot.
“That’s right,” Hiccup snarled. He was so close to her now that his breath on her neck sent shivers down her spine. “You don’t want to fight me, Astrid. And I know why you came here, but you can’t break off our betrothal either.” His hand wandered beneath her shirt and up over the bare skin of her back beneath. “You’re mine, Astrid. Mine! I claimed you, marked you. No other man will have you. If you turn me down now, the shame your uncle once brought over the name Hofferson will seem irrelevant next to the shame you brought over them. You wouldn’t want that, would you?” He turned his head, nodding and smiling again and when Astrid followed his gaze she spotted her parents along with one of her younger brothers and his own betrothed, all watching them fondly and waving them goodbye.
And of course he was right. She’d come to the same conclusion before already but him saying it now made it even clearer. She couldn’t get away from Hiccup without her family suffering the consequences. And she wouldn’t be able to change his mind either, not when the only people he might listen to, his father and Gobber, were supporting him. The only thing she could do right now… was doing as he told her.
With shaking fingers, she reached for the flask he still held, hesitated for a moment longer, then drank down its content with three big gulps.
“What is it?” she asked again but this time, her voice was subdued, broken, close to tears. He’d won. He’d won and she’d lost.
Hiccup took a deep breath and let it out again before he answered. His features were softer now and the hand roughly holding her before now lovingly cradled her face. “It’ll make you feel dizzy and your mind going sluggish. It’ll keep you from fighting me on our way back. I don’t want you to pointlessly try and flee. It’ll make everything easy, for both of us.”
She could feel it already, holding on to Hiccup’s arm to keep herself from stumbling. Whatever brew had been in that flask it was strong. Around her, the village was spinning already and her entire body was tingling. “How-how am I supposed to fly like this?” she asked weakly, even as the idea of plummeting into the ocean instead of enduring more of Hiccup’s abuse didn’t seem so bad.
“You’ll fly with me on Toothless,” he whispered into her ear. Again his breath on her neck sent shivers down her spine but this time they were pleasant somehow, making her heart race and something inside her flutter. His hand glided further up her back, his calloused thumb dragging over her side and against her will, she moaned. She wanted to protest against him touching her, in general but especially in public but her body wouldn’t respond as she wanted it to.
“The elixir will also heighten your receptiveness for my touch,” he murmured, again dragging his hands over her skin and coaxing more embarrassing noises of pleasure from her. His green eyes watched her intently and made it impossible for her to look anywhere else. “A beneficial side effect, one I intend to make plenty use of. I just hope you…” He trailed off and shook his head, the motion making her dizziness even worse as her head mimicked it. “Now get on Toothless back before I forget myself and fuck you right here.”
The harsh words brought a hint of clarity back to Astrid’s mind. Her eyes searched for her family once more, even as she followed Hiccup’s order. For them, a small voice in her head reminded her. For them, she had to keep up the appearance until… until she knew what to do.
She needed Hiccup’s help to climb on Toothless, hating how eagerly her body melted against him when he wrapped arms around her to keep her from falling. It felt so good… And it was so easy to forget what he’d done during the past two days. It could be just the same as before, fooling around a little with the man she loved and intended to marry. So easy...
Her mind and body were at war with each other, not helped by the renewed wave of dizziness that overcame her when Toothless jumped off the ground and Berk seemed to spin around them in maddening circles. She wanted to resist him, to fight him. Never would she give in and agree to become his sex slave, no matter what he and Stoick had tricked her and her parents to agree to. She was Astrid Hofferson. She was strong and proud and wouldn’t bow to anyone’s will, not even her husband's. But even as she kept repeating those words over and over in her head, she knew that she might not have a choice.
Astrid lost all sense of time. The flight back to Dragon’s Edge seemed to drag out endlessly as her head rolled from one side to the other. She found herself grateful for Hiccup’s arm around her waist holding her tight and leaned against his warm chest behind her, her head resting against his shoulder. The hours were filled with unconnected sensations and words he whispered into her ear and she couldn’t really say that they were unpleasant.
“You’re mine, Astrid.”
His hands beneath her tunic fondling her breasts.
The clear blue sky above them.
Fingers playing and roughly pinching her nipples until they were hard and so sensitive that every further touch made her cry out.
“Nobody will ever have you but me. You’re mine!”
The wind in her face.
“You don’t want to fight me, love.”
More fingers, beneath her skirt this time, stroking between her thighs and toying with her clit until pleasure burst through her and she screamed.
Toothless warm neck against her front when he pressed her down.
“See, it’s easier this way.”
Hiccup’s groans as he moved behind her, grinding against her, rocking inside her.
“I love you so much.”
When she came to it she found herself cradled in Hiccup’s arms, unsure of what had been real and what had been a dream. Sighing, she pressed her face against his tunic covered chest. She didn’t want him to see her tears.
Only minutes later they landed in front of the stables on Dragon’s Edge. Astrid climbed off Toothless’ back but had to hold on to the black dragon nonetheless when her legs gave way beneath her. Helplessly, she watched Hiccup leading Stormfly back into her stall and locking the door. She wouldn’t get the chance to get away again.
“Oh thank Thor you found her!”
Astrid perked up at the familiar voice but before she could think about saying anything, asking Snot to rescue her or just anything, Hiccup beat her to it.
“Yes, thankfully I did. But she needs rest now. I’ll take care of her and you go and tell Legs and the Twins that they can stop looking for her.”
Snotlout nodded and ran off directly to where Hookfang was waiting.
“Can I go to my hut to rest now?” she asked despite knowing better.
Hiccup threw her a hard look, snorted, and shook his head. “No, you can’t,” he said cooly then pulled her along over the bridges. Her head wasn’t spinning as much as it had on Berk or during their flight anymore but she still needed Hiccup’s hand on her upper arm to not stumble and fall to her death.
She accepted it without fighting when he led her into his hut. Whatever he did to her now, she would have to take it. She would keep fighting him but knew that she needed to recover her strength before she could do so. Once the gate closed behind them Hiccup stepped close behind her, holding her by her hips with sure hands. She could feel his hot breath on her neck, felt his erection pressing against her back. He would fuck her again now she was sure of that. Rape her again.
“I’m sorry, my love...”
His words surprised her but before she could react, Hiccup gave her a hard push between her shoulders that made her stumble and fall to her knees and hands. She cried out in pain and surprise, once when she landed on hard wood and then a second time when something priced the skin at her neck, a sharp pain shooting through her.
“...but you know I have to punish you now.”

Heartbreaker
New chapter is up! I felt like my writing has really grown in this chapter and I felt a lot more like poetic? if y’all get me. Anyways AO3 or FFnet or under the cut!
"Do you think having emotions makes you weak?"
A week after she woke him up, Ruffnut and Snotlout had finished their morning flight and were busy having breakfast, but at her tentative question, Snotlout spat out a bit of water.
"Ruff, since we've been together, I've never felt stronger. Why would you ask that?"
"Hmmm." Her eyes fell, then stared out to sea, and went pretty much everywhere but his face.
"Ruff, look at me."
"I..."
She sighed. "Why though?"
"Why what?"
"Why do I make you feel strong?"
"That's... hard to explain."
She crossed her arms. "Will you try?"
He paused for a moment, weighing up his walls and his vulnerability in his mind, before speaking, "Ruff, I feel like if you stayed by my side, I could take on Viggo himself. I could take on anyone, because I can always rely on you. Just your smile can uplift my entire day. You aren't afraid to say anything, do anything, you're just... you."
Tears were welling in her eyes and her entire face had gone red, but she turned to face away from him and said, "Can..." she sniffed, "Can we please go?"
"Did I say anything wrong?"
She stood and faced him again, a few tears falling across her rosy cheeks. "You said everything right! But... but I don't..."
"You don't... what?"
She froze, and before she could stop herself, she mumbled, "I don't think my brother would agree," and looked away.
It was quiet, but Snotlout heard it loud and clear, and his expression darkened.
"What did he say to you?"
"I don't-"
"What did he say, Ruffnut?"
He stood up, bringing a hand to her chin and turned it to face him.
"It's okay. You know you can trust me, don't you?"
She took his hand in hers and sighed.
"I know, and I do. But I... don't want to get you involved. It's not your problem to deal with." She wrapped her arms around him, leaning her chin on his shoulder. "Thank you, though."
He squeezed her back, then said, "Do you still want to leave or do you want to stay a few minutes more?"
She wrapped her arms tighter around him and mumbled into his ear, "Just a few minutes more."
And so they stayed, just holding each other for a ten or so minutes before he gently nudged her and said, "I hope you haven't fallen asleep on me here," waiting for her derisive snort then continuing, "Let's head back to Berk now." She nodded silently and let him lead her back to Hookfang, where she held onto his waist and leant her cheek against him the whole way home. __________________________________
Snotlout waited until Ruffnut was far out of sight, heading back to her house to change before running towards the arena to get a word in with a certain twin before his sister showed up. He knew he might widen the strange rift that was between them, but he felt the need to protect her, not only as her… boyfriend… but as any good friend would do. He just never thought he would have to defend her from her brother.
He reached the arena, stopping to catch his breath shortly before peeking in to make sure he was there. Sure enough, Tuffnut was practicing sword techniques on a poor mannequin, looking like it had seen better days. Catching him off guard, Snotlout called out, "Oi, Tuffnut!"
He spun around, taking an immediate defensive stance with the sword before relaxing minutely. "Snotlout. What do you want?"
"There's a whole list of things I want, but to start with I want you to stop putting yak dung in your sister's head."
"What do you mean, yak dung? What has she been telling you?"
"I had to pry out of her what she meant when she asked me if I thought having emotions makes us weak. Having emotions makes us human, Tuffnut. And it sure as Hel makes me stronger to love her."
There was a heavy silence before he heard two voices simultaneously.
"You love her?"
"You love me?"
His face drained of colour and his jaw dropped and he turned to face her, who mirrored his expression. Whether she was quick to change or he was slow to get to the arena, he was screwed. _________________________________
She was screwed.
She knew she heard quick, heavy footsteps in the opposite direction as she reached her house. Unfortunately for Snotlout, her hearing was perfect, almost supersonic, which was surprising with how loud she and her brother are. She knew he was heading to confront her brother, but all she could do was change her gear as quickly as Viking-ly possible and rushing to the arena.
"…makes us human, Tuffnut. And it sure as Hell makes me stronger to love her."
Love. A simple four letter word that may has well been a physical being that tore the rift between her and her beloved brother even wider. How did a prank end like this? Go this far?
"You love me?"
Blood was rushing in her ears and she couldn't hear anything but her own words and her eyes only focused on Snotlout, the one who loved her. Tears pricked at her eyes as she looked past him to Tuffnut, whose jaw had dropped significantly and conflict was heavy in his eyes as he flicked them between the two. She shook her head quickly, desperately, but-
"She doesn't love you, this was a joke."
-the ball dropped, and the silence before? Only the ringing in their ears were heard now.
"…what?"
"Tell him, Ruffnut."
He looked her in the eyes, his mouth set in a thin line, disappointment clouding his expression. Snotlout, however, looked at her with pure desperation, pleading with her silently that it wasn't true.
"I-I… it, S-Snotlout-"
"Operation Heartbreaker. You have the notes, don't you?" Tuffnut's voice broke into her head, the pace with which he spoke quickening with each poisonous word that broke Snotlout's heart a little further.
"O… Operation what?"
It took everything in her and more to not run away, not face the truth just yet, but she knew it would hurt and confuse him even more. So she squeezed her eyes shut, and spoke, "Operation Heartbreaker. Four rules to protect me while I broke your heart so you didn't try to pursue me anymore."
"You two..." Snotlout's eyes flew between them, glistening with building tears before he moved to leave, hurrying past them both, leaving them to stare at each other. Ruffnut, giving Tuffnut a scathing glare, turned to run after Snotlout.
"I didn't think it would get this far!"
"You clearly didn't think at all, not about anyone but yourself!" He turned around, anger hiding behind the tears that slowly fell down his face.
"I know you're not wrong, but-"
"But nothing, Ruffnut. I actually fell in love with you. You can't say the same?"
It was a challenge, because he knew that she loved him too. A challenge to face her feelings and forget this stupid plan, and maybe he would forget it too.
"I-I... At least I think I do..."
His eyes fell to the ground, and he wordlessly turned and walked away.
"You think you love him too?"
Ruffnut turned to face her brother.
"No, I know I do. This was a stupid thing to do, Tuff. But I love him."
"S-So what now? You're gonna go follow him, a-and make up and then be together and leave me?"
She was confused before realisation dawned on her, then her vision went red with anger. Storming up to him, fists raised to hit him, she screamed, "That's what this whole thing was about? Are you stupid?" Knocking him over with a tackle, she swung and hit any part of him she could reach. "Why in Odin's name would I leave you? You're my twin brother!" Her punches grew weaker as she finally gave in are starting sobbing, wrapping her arms around him instead, who in turn circled her waist with his, digging his head into her shoulder and crying as well.
"I'll never leave you. Not now, not ever." ____________________________________

Snotlout
Favorite thing about them
Physically: He’s short and broad shouldered and apparently doen’t seem to care for his height.
Personality-wise: He’s an egotistical jackass, but knows right from wrong. Has insecurities that have been brought up in RoB & RttE.
Least favorite thing about them
His tendency to bully and his ego can sometimes go a bit too far.
Favorite line
“Yeah, I’ve been thinking. Whatever greatness I end up doing, and trust me, it will be great, it’s gotta be what I want to do. Not what my dad wants me to do.”
BrOTP
Besides the obvious choice, Snotfang? Hiccup and Snotlout. They have this very interesting dynamic going on. Especially in RttE.
OTP
I refer you back to my previous answer, Hiccup and Snotlout. Ironically enough, I ship them too.
NOTP
Daglout. Now that is a ship I can’t quite get behind. Snotlout may have admired Dagur at some point, but shipping material they are not. Well, not in my personal oppinion.
Random headcanon
Snotlout will be a big softie when it comes to both his own kids and the kids of the other Riders. He will cuddle and coddle his daughters.
Unpopular opinion
Snotlout may be arrogant and a bully, but cares about Hiccup. You can’t look that horrified in Httyd 1 and even wipe away a tear when it’s revealed that Hiccup is alive and then not care about him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Give me a fic in which Snotlout shows he cares, damnit!
Song i associate with them
I don’t know? I never really thought about a song for Snotlout before.
Favorite picture of them
Tumblr media
Look at him. Look at him! So precious!
Tumblr media
Snotlout wanted to have a damn cape. A DAMN CAPE! It even gets him in trouble
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SNOTCUP! SNOTCUP! OI! OI! OI!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Snotlout is enjoying himself, Hiccup not so much
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loving that difference in height

When you hit that Dragon Nip™ a little too hard
Tumblr media
A really good pic simply because Snotlout wasn’t supposed to be there as he was supposed to be out on patrol with Heather at this shipyard. And yet, I like to think Snotlout bend space and time to his liking just to be there.
I believe this is from the episode ‘Family on the Edge’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“It’s just the gambling losses, this isn’t really him.”
(Should keep in mind that, during ‘Shell Shocked, Part 2′, Snotlout admits to developing a 12-step program just to help Hiccup rid himself of his gambling addiction. See why I ship them yet?!)
Tumblr media
Snot’s face when Hiccup tells him they aren’t so different, BE STILL MY HEART
Tumblr media
“They ruin my treasure pleasure!”
Tumblr media
Snotlout making sure Hiccup can stand on that replacement leg
(I… I ship them so much. Send help.)
Tumblr media
Can’t keep your hands to yourself, can ya, Snot?
(Seriously, Snotlout has his hands on Hiccup during this entire scene!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A worried Snotlout is a good Snotlout.
(I like drama and tragedy, okay.)
Tumblr media
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a mighty need for a Snotcup fic now

“Ha! This guy thinks he can take on Hiccup!”
……
I apologize. This Snotlout post turned into a Snotcup post. I could not help myself!

As that makes sense, thank you for answering my questions! => Hmm this one might be a weird one but if when the gang have a run in with a new dragon who's breath has the ability to de-age anything it touches for a limited amount of time, how would Spitelout react to his son conning back a toddler again and staying that way for a few days? Espicially if his now toddler son would want/need his attention so often?
He would be unbelieving at first, then angry, it would probably take him a bit to realize Baby Snotlout doesn’t have his memory intact, hes just a baby again….Then he would fall right back into his old dad ways, making silly noises while trying to teach him how to use his bludgeon properly all over.
Because what greater pride is there in the Jorgensen family than to train the young to be just as good as their parents =3
He probably isn’t the most responsible parent, however. I mean…neither was Stoick, they both gave their children deadly weapons as their first gifts.
He was probably rougher than most people, I can see him putting Snotlout with Terrible Terrors to make them play fight and then beaming with pride over any scars the toddler might receive in the tussle. However, I can also see him reassuring the toddler as they cry that this is a good thing, that they will grow into a strong warrior and be able to tell the tale of when they beat a dragon as a baby. (In fact, I think thats where the idea of Stoick killing a dragon with his bare hands as a baby came from…exaggerated scar stories. It probably happened about the same way….with a Terrible Terror.)
Tbh, if such an event occurred, Hookfang would probably have to take over caring for the reborn Snotlout because I just dont believe Spitelout is capable of being a responsible adult with babies, he doesn’t understand how fragile they ARE compared to what they CAN BE.He, among other vikings in the tribe, were probably the type to put several babies in a ring and watch them fight.Vikings are communal - even in parenting, so its possible he often left Snotlout with anyone willing to watch him….The twins parents come to mind - which is probably why they spend so much time together as teens as well, they were raised together. However, its possible Snotllouts mother died later in his life and she raised him until he was able to walk and follow his father around. Perhaps she raised the tins as well - they do mention they’re orphans, but -shrugs- their pasts are pretty clouded in mystery too.
Unfortunately, with this in mind, the twins would probably convince Spitelout to let them watch baby Snotlout for a bit and…I think we can all guess how that would go.
Lets just hope Hookfang isn’t affected by this as well, bc that baby is going to need a guardian angel - especially a five ton angel of fangs and flame
Also , since your ask was so specific, heres a sorta drabble based around it.
————————————————————————
There are few things that can surprise Spitelout these days, very few, but as the small viking - no, chieftain, Hiccup, stood awkwardly before him, he found himself at a loss. Hiccup was always presenting the tribe with surprises, and now, it seemed, he was presenting a very personal one to him.
Curious, and perhaps a bit bemused by the awkward chieftains shuffling he began the conversation, “What brings the chief of Berk to my door today?”
Hiccup scratched the back of his neck as he looked between the ground and Spitelouts gaze, “Uuuuuuh,” He took a deep breath and let it out, “Spitelout…” There was something heavy on his mind and he didn’t seem to know how to get it out.
“Yes, I am he. go on, boyyo.”
“While we were out exploring the islands, we encountered a dragon we had never seen before, it was amazing, it was - - ” Hiccup never had been the best at getting to the point, but Spitelout let him ramble; the lad really liked his tales, Stoick had too….
Luckily, Astrid stepped in, ah, what a great lass, always straight to the point. “What hes trying to say is, we found a new dragon and Snotlout being Snotlout, well,…” she trailed off, biting her lip as she held out a tightly wrapped bundle towards him, a Snotlouts helm delicately placed atop it.
Spitelout felt his brow furrow as his gaze trailed down to the bundle. There was a tightness in his chest that he refused to acknowledge. Had his boy really gotten himself-
He glanced up as Snotlouts Monstrous Nightmare waddled into view, it seemed anxious, but not particularly upset. Strange, that.
He became plagued with wary curiosity.
“Hes a bit…shorter than when we left this morning,” Astrid continued at last, a light chuckle in her voice,
He took the bundle in one burly hand and gingerly unwrapped it with the other.
He looked back up at the pair, who continued to watch him warily and awkwardly at the same time, he furrowed his brows deeper, trying to decipher what sort of game or joke they were playing at. He looked to them fr answers.
“Spitelout, this- this is your son.”
Spitelout chuckled heartily,  it was just some game they were playing, strange, he always assumed they were different from the twins. “I only ave the one, boyyo, don’t think I could handle anotha.”
“No, Spitelout, that is - this is Snotlout.” Hiccup insisted. “the dragon he battled had this strange…” he struggled to find words, “venom, I guess is the best word for it, that, when inhaled, reverses the aging process and turns people back into younger versions of themselves.”
Spitelout critically searched their faces for the lie, then stared down at the child in his hands, it looked back at him with familiar grey eyes.
“Gothi says theres a cure, but we have to find all the parts.” Hiccup hesitated, choosing his words carefully. “Until then, you need to take care of him…”
“Alrigh, Ill play your lil game, ” he sighed good-heartedly. He found it hard to believe such a thing could really happen, “But if ye needed  babysitta, all ye had to do was ask.”
Hiccup began to protest, but Astrid stopped him, pulling him away with one last wary glance behind her and leading him to their dragons.
Spitelout shook his head as their shadows vanished in the horizon, it seemed the pair still had a ways to go before they became parents of their own. He looked back down at the child and wiggled his fingers near their face making silly noises as he did so. The child gripped his fingers tightly, and a seed of doubt entered his mind.
—————
He was angry at first, pacing the room as the Monstrous Nightmare coiled itself around the child and watched him carefully he didn’t doubt that the thing would light the entire archipelago on fire just to protect Snotlout, but he wasn’t concerned by its low rumble.
“Ow could you go an be so brash!” he scolded loudly, “I ave told yew time and time again, ye cant jus rush in blind!”
“Now, Look at ye! Reduced to - to this! Well I ave news fer yew, Im not changing that diaper. Yew can change it yerself!”
The child sniffled, a cry beginning to bark from their throat.
“Oh don’t start yer cryin, Ive told ye about this before. Were Jorgensens! We don’t cry! We make other people cry!”  he tried to sound harsh, but there was a softness edging into his voice as tears streamed down the childs face.
The Monstrous Nightmare was growling now, a full fledged snarl that bared every single dagger-point fang in his head.
“Oi don’t ye start! Where were yewwhen this happened anyway?”
The dragon bulked at the accusation and simmered back into a low rumble.
Spitelout sighed as the childs screams ripped through his home. He wasn’t angry, he was frustrated, frustrated at himself.
Freya help him, he couldn’t raise a child alone.
Ignoring the dragon he plucked Snotlout from its coils and sang him the Jorgensen lullaby.
————————————————–
“its just wee scratch,” he reassured his son as the toddler screeched and flailed away from the terrible Terror. “Hopefully it will scar and then yewll have a story to tell when ye get older!”
The baby sniffled unconvinced, but curious.
“Ye can tell em you got it grappling a berserker who tried ta kidnap the prodigy of the Jorgensens!”
The baby lit up as his father articulated this cheerily with his hands.
“But no one kin take a Jorgensen from the place he calls home, no one!”
————————————————————————
He was happy to play father again, really he was, up until day three had passed and neither Astrid nor Hiccup had returned.
He was a busy man, incredibly busy, and also incredibly tired.
Did babies normally cry this much?
Spitelout did his best to comfort the babe, but it didnt seem Snotlout understood how great it was to be a Jorgensen, couldn’t see what a great warrior he would be one day….had been….
———————————————
There was a ruckus upstairs, a series of dragon shrieks and the smell of burning wood. There were startled screams and the screams of a woken baby.
Spitelout rushed upstairs, ax at the ready as he prepared to defend his son.
the screaming stopped when he got halfway up, the house became eerily quiet, and chill went through him followed by a burning in his gut. Whatever was up there better have prayed to whatever god they believed in that no harm had come to his son.
Voices reached his ears, soft but with an annoying edge to it, the twins.
“Hes so cute now that he cant hit us~” Tuffnut purred as he let the small Snotlout play with his braids.
“Yea, and now that he cant talk!” Ruffnut laughed.
“Oh, hey, Spitey” Tuffnut noted blankly, unapologetic in the damage they had caused. “Mind if we take Snotlout out for a midnight flight?”
————————————–
Edit: Annnnnd sorry but I ran out of juice here. -shrugs loudly- Its 1 am, I spent too much time on this as is. X3

Snow way out-the dagurized version
The next episode I worked over. I changed Heather with Dagur.
Snow way out.
I did the episodes not always in the row like in the original. And some were left out.
It was time to test the new Gronkle Iron armour that Hiccup and Fishlegs had designed for Toothless. The Nightfury looked extreme unconfortable while in flight and scratched from time to time at the armour, grumbling.
“I know, bud.” said Hiccup who was heading with his dragon over the bay straight at the dragon base. “Wearing metal on bare skin can be…itchy. I know how this feels, trust me.”
The Hooligan looked at his peg leg, scratching it too absently.
“But we need to say focused. Okay, lets go! Simulating attack-go!”
Toothless picked up his speed but still scratched at the armour plates. “I know. Its heavy. Just-NET!“
The Nightfury dodged the net that sailed towards them.
“Hooks!”
Three grappling Hooks on chains sailed towards them, Toothless was able to avoid them too.
“Well done!-Arrows!”
Hiccup pulled up and the wind pressure let the armour plates shake. And it began to fall apart. Toothless flew through the arrows dodging them all - but lost the chest and belly plates in the process.
“Uh-oh, not good.” Hiccup murmured. The next moment an Arrow hit Toothless straight in the chest. But it had no dangerous tip on it, only a bladder with orange paint who left a mark on the Nightfurys underside. Toothless growled in annoyance and Hiccup sighed.
The Jorgenson on the ballista cheered.
“Snotlout, Snotlout, oi, oi,oi!”
“Good shot, Snotlout!” he called. ”You got us.”
“Not yet, cous´.”
A second arrow hit Hiccup right into the chest and left an orange mark on his vest too. Hiccup glared at Snotlout. “Not again..”
The Jorgenson laughed but was quickly knocked off the ballista by Toothless plasma blast.
“Bud! What have I said? No plasma blast shooting at our teammates! And no shooting directly on living things! Only if necessary!” Hiccup told the Nightfury who pulled a face. “You know what happened with Snotlout two days ago?”
An earlier plasma hit had caused burns on Snotlouts back. It seemed the plasma blasts of the Nightfury had increased in power and he was not able to control it yet properly.
Later that evening Fishlegs retrieved the armour pieces and began to work out what went wrong.
“Sigh! I really thought, we had it this time.” he moaned.
“But it lasted longer than the last one.“ Hiccup said. “And another problem is Toothless does not like wearing it.”
“Yeah, it lasted, but not long enough.” said Tuffnut. Then he raised an eyebrow at Fishlegs. “Wait, unless you wanted Hiccup to get shot down. – Could it be that you wanted to kill Hiccup?”
“I am not trying to kill Hiccup!” Fishlegs answered.
Hiccup groaned and rolled his eyes.
“Enough of this. What´s next?” he asked.
“I think we have to go thinner. That should it make more lighter and flexible.”
“But it won ´t make it Snotlout-proof. Nothing can. It’s a good thing that I am on your side.” the Jorgenson chuckled, but suddenly he was slammed to the floor by Stormfly who just had arrived with Astrid on her back.
“Aoww! My burns!” Snotlout jowled.
“Astrid!” Hiccup growled and helped his cousin back to his legs. He shot her and Stormfly an angry glare.
“What?! Whats with him?” the shieldmaden asked.
“A small accident during our last testing session for the armor. So be a bit more careful with him!”
“Okay..” she huffed.
„So you are back from Berk already?“
Astrid shook her head. Never made it there. I ran into Trader Johann along the way and he had picked up some interesting news. Hiccup, we need to talk.”
And so, Moments later at the clubhouse.
“Johann told me that he had seen Ryker, Dagur and the Dragon Hunters in the Northern Markets buying all the winter gear the could get their hands on.” Astrid explained.
“Why would they buy winter gear in summer?” Snotlout asked.
“Hello! That’s when you get the best prices!” said Ruffnut.
“Ruff is an excellent shopper.” Tuffnut nodded.
“No one is surprised by that.” Snotlout said.
“Where were the Dragon Hunters going that they would need so much winter gear in this time of the year?” Hiccup pondered. “Astrid, did Johann hear anything else?”
„They needed the gear right away. And they were after something rare. A bone or claw…”
Hiccups eyes widened. „A snowwraith tooth! For the Dragon Eye!“ he exclaimed.
“Well, good luck with that, Dragon hunters.“ said Tuffnut dismissively “ You and Dagur barely got out of there alive, you told us.”
“The Dragon Eye used to belong to the Hunters.” Hiccup said holding out the Dragon Eye. “They must know that they need a Snow Wraith tooth to make it work.”
“Who cares? All it means that they arent´t crossing our paths.” said Snotlout.
“But if they get their own key, the will be coming for us next.” said Hiccup.
“Please don’t tell me you want to prevent the Hunters from catching a Snow Wraith.” Astrid said.
“We cant let that happen! Get a good night sleep, everyone. We leave for Glacier Island at first light.” Hiccup ordered and send his comrades to their huts.
The next moring they headed straight towards Glacier Island, home of the Snow Wraiths.
“So we are really going to protect a dragon, that the last time tried to kill you and Dagurs men, from the Dragon Hunters, the Hunters, who every time when they spot us, trying us to kill?” said Tuffnut.
“And don’t forget Heather and Dagur and their dragons. They like to kill us too.” Ruffnut added.
“The Berserker siblings won´t be a problem.” Hiccup said.
“Why would they not be a problem?” Fishlegs frowned.
“Well…we outnumber them, right?-Look, Berserker siblings or not-all we have to do is to find the Snow Wraith first and relocate him to an island where the Hunters won´t find him.”
“Uh, that sounds like and extremely dangerous plan.” Fishlegs whimpered.
“I didn’t think so.” said Hiccup as they finally reached the island. “Come, lets head over to where I and Dagur found the Snow Wraith last time.”
“You mean, he found you and Dagur.” Snotlout corrected.
“That’s one way of putting it.” said Hiccup as he leaded his friends to the spot where he and Dagur encountered the last time the dangerous Dragon.
Soon they landed where Hiccup and Dagur confronted the Snow Wraith the last time. They was already a snowstorm blowing tearing on their clothes. Hiccup pulled out his fur cloak Dagur gave him and wrapped it over his lanky form.
“Toothless, use your sonar call.” Hiccup said and the Nightfury roared into the snow storm trying to locate the white dragon.
“Anything out there, bud?”
Toothless just shook his head.
While the others set up the camp, Hiccup and Astrid were on their dragons, searching the environment, but it was near impossible with all this whirling snow.
“You see anything down there?” Hiccup asked.
“I can barely see you half the time!” Astrid said. “If they are hunters down there we can´t locate them.”
“Maybe we should split up. Cover more Ground.” Hiccup suggested, as another stormwave blew over them.
“No! We stay together. Its safer! -Hiccup? Hiccup!”
But she could find no trace of her friend.
“Just great!” Astrid sighed.
When she returned to the others they had set up camp. Snotlout was trying to warm himself by a fire he made.
“Wow. You got the tent up fast.” said Astrid as she dismounted Stormfly.
“I had to! It was the only way to keep out of that Thorston sandwich, how they call it.” said the Jorgenson gesturing to the shivering twins who were now hugging Fishlegs. He shuddered at the feeling how they had clinged to him like two klutes earlier.
“Where is Hiccup?” Fishlegs asked.
“We got separated in the storm.” answered Astrid.
“Heh, he ditched you?” grinned Snotlout.
“What? No! Why would he do that?” Astrid grumbled and gave him a half-hearted hit on his right arm.
“OW! - Don’t worry. My cousin can take care of himself. And don’t forget, Toothless is with him. So no need to worry.” Jorgenson said and rubbed his arm.
Meanwhile, Hiccup was still flying around, looking for Dragon Hunters. Then Toothless warbled and he looked down to see someone had lit a fire below them.
“Yeah, bud. I saw it too. Let´s go in another way.”
They flew towards a glacier and quietly made their way towards the fire. Hiccup soon discovered the hooded figure. It was Dagur, who was shielded from the cold by Shattermaster. The Hooligan took his shield from his back.
“Well, well, “brother”, said Hiccup with narrowed eyes. “Surprised to see us?”
“Surprised?” Dagur answered and cackled a short laugh. Then he got up and turned to the Hoolingan and the Nightfury, a dagger in the hand. Shattermaster turned too and growled low. “Not really, brother. I have listened to you stomp through the snow for the past moments.”
Dagur pulled back his hood and the two of them looked at each others eyes, while their dragons stood ready snarling at each other. Hiccup held his shield up, Dagur his dagger, both going into a fighting stance.
Suddenly Dagurs frown turned into a wide grin.
“What took you so long, little one?” he smiled and put the dagger away.
Hiccup hung his shield at Toothless saddle and went to Dagur, who gave Hiccup a welcome embrace, which the Hooligan returned. Shattermaster and Toothless stopped snarling and relaxed.
“Astrid isn’t the easiest to sneak away from.” Hiccup answered.
“Yeah, but I told Rykie I´m out scouting and he let me go without a doubt.” said Dagur as they made their way towards the fire. Shattermaster and Toothless roared at one another and joined them.
“So you got my terror mail?” Hiccup asked.
“Aye. Ryker didn’t notice it. So Trader Johann did inform Astrid of Rykers plan? I saw him sneaking around at the northern markets, when we collected our winter equipment. He is defiantly not only a trader, but a spy too. And Rykie doesn’t trust anyone, but so far all is in the green area.”
“Where is Heather?”
“Send her on a special mission. I dont want her and her dragon to get into the crossfire if things get nasty here. You know, what a Snow Wraith is capable of.”
„Good. That should keep her out of danger. Now fill me in, brother.“
The Berserker pulled the smaller male closer and laid an arm around him, when he noticed the slight shivering of him. Hiccup leaned in older mans warmth and listened to his report. After his explanation Dagur pulled out a map and showed it to the Hooligan.
“We have been here for two days, searching pretty methodically. According to Rykie, the Snow Wraith digs itself an ice cave to hibernate during the summer months. These guys are not big fans of the sun and warmth.”
“Hey, we diddnt know that. That explains why the hunters rushed to get out here, probably to get a tooth from a hibernating Snow Wraith. Would make the whole thing easier.”
“Exactly, brother.”
„Too bad we dont know where the cave is.“
“But I think I might know. Shattermaster and I spotted a cave on a plateau about halfway up that mountain.” said Dagur and pointed at a mountain close by. “You find a way to get your Friends to check it out. In the meanwhile, I will tell Rykie I diddnt find anything and try to keep him as far away as possible.”
Hiccup looked to the mountain and then at his feet at once.
“What bothers you, brother?”
“We should tell the others what we are doing, this doesn´t feel right.” said Hiccup uncomfortably.
“But we agreed to keep it secret that Heather and I are spying out the plans of the Hunters.”
“I never lied to Astrid before.” murmured Hiccup and hung his head.
“But this is the best way to take the Dragon Hunters down, from the inside.”
“Hiccup, if we told your comrades that I and my sister were spying on the hunters, we both know that especially your girlfriend wants to put Heather out of there. But she wold never agree leaving me alone with them. She fears I could do something stupid and ruin all.” Dagur chuckled.
„I get that, but-„
„We are this close getting to Viggo! We cant quit now, brother.” the Berserker said and balled his fists.
“I really hope you´re right, because if any of the Riders got hurt or you or Heather got hurt, because I held something back-“
“Nothing will go wrong, brother. Trust me and Heather.” Dagur said und gave Hiccups right arm a reassuring squeeze.
An hour later Hiccup returned to the Riders and lead them straight over towards the Snow Wraith cave.
“So when I spotted the cave from above, it got me thinking, “ he said. “Last time I and Dagur were here, the Snow Wraith was on us right away. Why not this time? Maybe because its hiding out or do some sort of hibernating in that cave.”
“Hey, that’s an interesting Theory, Hiccup.” said Fishlegs.
“I agree.” said Astrid. “I am just wondering how it was you came all the way out here when the rest of us were scouting in the opposite direction.”
“I must have gotten lost.” said Hiccup, not looking her in the eyes. Please don’t let her notice that I am lying, he thought.
“Lost?” Astrid raised an eyebrow.
“Fine. I got carried away, okay? You know how I am, when it comes to the safety of dragons.”
“Yes, I do. But you can just go off on your own like that. We are a team. And you are our leader.”
“I know. Sorry.”
Meanwhile, Dagur was back at the Dragon Hunters camp trying to divert them away from the mountain.
“I think we should concentrate on the costal areas.” said the Berserker looking at a map.
“We had for the mountain.” said Ryker.
“I told you, I have already searched up there. I diddnt see a thing.”
“You often oversee things. Especially from the air.” Ryker corrected. “I do things the old fashioned way. With my boots on the ground.”
Dagur ignored the insult of the Grimborn and said: “But I really-“
“We heading for the mountain! Have you a problem with that, Da-gur?”
The Berserker knew that he can´t persuade him otherwise and if he did he may end up blowing up his cover.
“No. Of course not.” he said and gestured towards the mountain. “After you, Rykie.”
Ryker shot Dagur a death glare for calling him that then turned to his men.
“Move out!” he ordered and walked away.
Meanwhile, the riders were about halfway towards the mountain.
“There it is.” Hiccup said and pointed. Everyone turned and found the cave right at the side of the mountain. “Let´s go and check it out.”
They made their way over to the cave and at once Hiccup and Fishlegs found claw marks in the ice.
“Look at these. I would say, we found the right cave.” the Hooligan said.
“That’s a territory marking.” Fishlegs nodded and looked down into the cave.
“All right. Lets take it slowly and quietly. Snotlout, get the Nightmare gel out.” Hiccup said and the Jorgenson started to rummage in his saddle bag. Then they made their way into the cave.
Unbeknownst to them, the Hunters were making their own way towards the cave carrying cages on sleighs with them.
Ryker kame to a stop when he saw footprints in the snow.
“Dragon Riders.” he growled, as he looked at the cave in front of him.
“Shit, he knows now that my little brother and his gang are here!” Dagur thought who rode on Shattermasters back, while the Gronkle trudged through the snow. “Not good. Not very good.”
The Riders were making their way through the cave unaware that the Hunters were outside. Suddenly Toothless heard the sound of metal clanking outside the cave and stopped.
“Whats wrong, bud?” asked Hiccup. The nightfury growled low.
Then all of them heard the metallic sound. Astrid looked up to Hiccup. “Was that-“
“Behind us!” Hiccup yelled.
They turned and saw Hunters outside firing arrows at them. With a quick plasma blast Toothless was able to destroy the arrows to splinters.
“Everybody down!” Hiccup shouted.
“Spine Shot!” Astrid yelled as Stormfly tossed several of her spikes at the Hunters who fled from the cave entrance and took cover. Ryker got up and glared at Dagur.
“Hey! Can´t you control your beast? It gave us away!”
“Shattermaster is a heavy dragon walking on ice. He is gonna make noise. But the metal of the cages were also creaking when they were moved.” Dagur answered and pointed at the cages on the sleighs.
“You keep your fat stone-eater quiet! Or I will.” Ryker warned. Then he turned to his men. “Go!”
Three of his men entered the cave again and they heard noises coming from inside. Then a huge explosion was heard and two of his men hurried outside carrying the third with them.
“Damn Zipper!” Ryker cursed. Dagur used all his willpower not to laugh.
In the cave, Tuffnut was looking at his helmet which had an arrow wedged in it.
“Hey! Who shot at my helmet?” he growled. Then he turned to Hiccup. “And who shot on Hiccups shoulder pads?“
Astrid and Fishlegs gasped, when the saw Hiccup raising with two arrows sticking in his right shoulder pad.
“Hiccup! You are hit!” Astrid said worried.
„Dont worry. Its only sticking in my shoulder pad. I am still unharmed. Now you see for what these things are good for.” he said, pulled the arrows out of his protectors and tossed them aside.
“They get slowly better with their aiming.” Ruffnut grinned and head butted with her brother.
“Will you keep it down, will you?” Hiccup hissed. “If we wake up the Snow Wraith, things will get a lot trickier!”
„What do you think Rykers next move is?“ asked Astrid.
“Surrender?” Ruffnut suggested.
„I doubt he will do that.“ answered Fishlegs and pointed to the cave entrance. All riders turned and saw Ryker entering the cave.
“Dragon Riders! Send out your leader to talk!” he yelled.
“Oh Thor! Must he yell so loud?” Fishlegs whimpered. “He will wake the Snow Wraith!“
„It´s gotta be a trap! I should go out. See what the game is.” said Astrid.
“Hiccup Haddock! Let´s talk this out, like real men!” Ryker continued and shoved his sword into the icy floor.
“I don’t like this!” Fishlegs said.
„If there is one chance to sever this without bloodshed, I have to try.” said Hiccup and took his shield from his back. Toothless wanted to come with him, but Hiccup stopped him. “No, bud. If this is a trap, I need you to get me out of it.”
Hiccup made his way over to Ryker and saw the amused look on his face.
“Tch! You are still a runt -and don’t look like much.” he said.
“And you look like a psycho!” growled Hiccup.
“Right said, little one.” Dagur thought who listened to the conversation of the two.
Ryker laughed and Hiccup placed his shield down on his prostetic leg.
“What do you want, Ryker?” Hiccup asked.
“The Dragon Eye.”
“Forget it!”
„It belongs to us, the Hunters! You stole it from our ship, you little thief! And I will have it back.”
“I am not a thief! I found it! And the Ship was deserted!“ Hiccup growled and narrowed his eyes. „ And you won´t have it back today!“
„Oh no? Look around,“ Ryker said, gesturing to the ice cave. “We are in front of you. The Snow Wraith is behind you. One time offer. Hand over the Dragon Eye and you and your gang are free to go.”
Hiccup began to touch over himself.
“Well…sorry. I must have left it in my other pants.” he smirked. Ryker growled.
“In that case, surrender and you will meet the same fate as your dragons.” he said.
Unbeknownst to Hiccup, one of Rykers men was making his way closer without being seen by him.
“Okay, this is my offer, “the Hooligan said. “Leave now and you and your men won´t have to find out what it means to loose again a fight.”
Ryker sighed.
“You really have the Dragon Eye with you?” he asked.
“I would be an Idiot if I had brought it here.”
“And-you are not coming out?”
“Not any time soon.”
“Don’t say I diddnt give you a chance!” said Ryker and bent down to pick up his sword. In this moment the hidden Hunter took aim at Hiccup and was about to fire his arrow. Dagur looked worried around and spotted a burning lantern on a crate to the right. He gave Shattermasters side a light bump with his right heel and the Gronkle made a step back, turning his mace tail to the right, knocking the lantern from the crate in the process. This caused the entire front cave to lit up and blinded the archer. It also casts his shadow across the cave wall and the riders saw it instantly.
“A trap! I should have know it!” Hiccup growled. „You never play fair!“
Ryker ducked just as the archer let his arrow fly. Hiccup tossed his shield who rested on the tip of his peg leg up and into his hands. Just in the right moment, the arrow was blocked and fell into the snow. Then he saw more Hunters running past Ryker and shot arrows at him.
The counterattack followed at once. Dragonfire destroyed the arrows, before they can land a hit. Toothless plasma blast knocked the Hunters back and to the entrance of the cave.
Ryker angrily approached Dagur and grabbed his arm.
“I saw that! You did that on purpose!” he snarled.
“So sorry! Shattermaster was getting a bit nervous when things thicken up! Then it´s difficult to held him totally still! But it was good that he knocked the Lantern down! How many times do I and Heather have to tell you that Hiccup is more valuable to us alive than dead! He can control the dragons like no one else! You see what I can do with Shattermaster! We have learned it, because we once gained his trust and we spied out how he is doing it! He is a real dragon conquerer!” Dagur shot back and released his arm.
Ryker rubbed his chin.
„Maybe you´re right, Dagur. Maybe this runt can be helpful to us. -Shoot the cave entrance down.”
“What?” the Berserker gasped.
“Have your animal shoot the cave!” Ryler repeated and pointed to the entrance.
“Why?”
“Just do it!”
Dagur let Shattermaster turn to the cave. He knew that if he diddn´t do what Ryker said, his cover will be blown. “Shattermaster, Lava-Blast!”
The Gronkle blasted the cave celling with his fire attack and at once the whole cave entrance collapsed.
Inside, Toothless had shielded Hiccup from the falling down ice blocks with his wings. Then he opened his mouth to produce a glow that lit the entire cave and the Riders saw that the entrance had been blocked by a mountain of solid ice blocks.
“Is everyone all right?” Hiccup asked looking at the others. He got positive answers from them. Then Hookfang ignites himself for more light.
“Why would Ryker seal himself from the key?” Snotlout asked.
“He wasn´t sealing himself out, he was sealing us in.” said Hiccup. “Ryker thinks we will fight the Snow Wraith for him and he will deal with whoever survives.”
“Oh, great! But we were not gonna do that, right?”
„We dont have much choice. Even if we try to melt the ice with our dragons, we very well might cause another cave breakdown, not to mention the Dragon Hunters we will have to deal outside.” said Astrid.
“The plan hasn´t changed.” said Hiccup, as they mounted their dragons. “We grabbed the Snow Wraith and get it away from Ryker.
“Oh that’s all? Great!” Snotlout scoffed.
They flew deeper into the cave untill they reaced a cavern. They stopped outside and dismounted.
“I choose being positive we can do this. You told us you and Dagur defeated the Snow Wraith before. And this time he won´t have a blizzard to hide in.” Fishlegs said.
When they entered the cavern, they stopped in their tracks.
“Well-I would not be so sure.” Hiccup said.
In front of them, there wasn´t only one Snow Wraith sleeping, there were three.
“Just great! And now?” Snotlout hissed.
“Well, at least they are still asleep and the wont wake up-“ Tuffnut said loud and suddenly one of the white Dragons stirred. Ruffnut quickly clapped her brothers mouth shut with her hand.
“You are the worst positive thinker ever!” she grumbled.
“Shhh!” Fishlegs hissed.
Meanwhile, Ryker hat led his men away from the cave and was searching across the mountain as he was looking for something. Then he looked at the ground as if he sensed something beneath it. He looked at the hunters.
“Here.” he said, then pointing at another location at the ground. ”And here.
At once, his men began to chisel the ground. Dagur was still confused about what Ryker was doing, but he knew it wasn´t good.
“Hey, you want me to tell, what you are doing?” he asked.
“No.” Ryker answered and walked away.
Meanwhile, the Riders are remaining very quiet so that they diddn´t wake up the Snow Wraiths. But one of them was sniffing at the air.
“If we don’t move maybe it won´t notice us.” Tuffnut said, again a little too loud.
“Tuffnut!” Hiccup hissed.
The next moment the Snow Wraith awoke from the sound and snarled at the intruders!
“Just great! What now?” Astrid asked.
„Maybe I can put him back to sleep.“ Hiccup answered, took his shield, ran past Tuffnut and plucked the arrow out of his helmed. Then he rushed towards the Snow Wraith, switched his shield in crossbow mode and fired the arrow-but the white dragon took off and avoided it.
“Dragondung! I missed!“ Hiccup cursed and switched his shield back.
The enraged roar oft he Snow Wraith woke the other two and the riders mounted their dragons, prepairing for battle.
The first whit dragon fired at Astrid and Snotlout, who took off just before the blast hit the ground. Then the three Wraiths dived into a hole in the ice bottom.
“They are getting away!” Fishlegs said.
„Maybe they tunneled all the way out.” said Hiccup.
“And at the end of one of these tunnels can the Hunters set a trap.”
“You are right, Fishlegs.”
Suddenly they heard the Snow Wraiths roaring inside the tunnel and it sounded like there were in pain.
“I hate it when I am right!” Fishlegs whimpered.
“Lets go!” Hiccup yelled.
Hiccup and Toothless flew into the hole and down through the tunnels. The other riders followed suit, but it was a complete maze, so they all split up in different directions. A few time they almost collided with each other.
“Look out!” Snotlout yelled almost crashing into Fishlegs. Immerman quickly backed into the tunnel and waited till the Jorgenson passed the junction. Then he steered Meatlug out again-only to collide with the twin´s Zippleback and get tangled between their necks.
“Hey! Two heads give the right-of way!” said Tuffnut.
“Why always me?” whimpered Fishlegs.
Soon all Riders met up at a cavern where all tunnels met and began arguing. They silenced when they heard a roar coming down from one of the tunnels and recognized it as a Snow Wraith distress call.
“Follow me!” Hiccup ordered and steered Toothless into the said tunnel.
They soon found themselves back outside the tunnel system and the entire area was covered with the remains of dragon hunting equipment.
“Ryker knew about the burrowing the whole time. He used us to chase the Snow Wraits out! Then he captured them.” Hiccup said.
“Looks like they are heading back along the south side of the glacier.” said Astrid and pointed to the footprints they were left in the snow.
“That’s were their ships are! But they will not gonna get there!” Hiccup growled.
After they rounded the glacier, they saw Ryker and his Hunters making their way towards the ship with the Snow Wraiths in cages and nets. And if that wasn´t bad enough, the snowstorm had led up meaning that they diddn´t had any cover.
“Great time for the snow to led up.” Astrid muttered.
“Okay, we cant get too close. We need to stay out of range of their arrows.” said Fishlegs. Hiccup scanned the area trying to come up with a plan and then he saw the ice plate right about the heads of the passing Hunters.
“Maybe we don’t need to stay out of range. Ruff, Tuff, see that ice plate up there?” asked Hiccup. “We need an avalanche.”
“Yeah, I knew you would say it! Avalanche, will be served!” Ruffnut yelled happy.
“Ice-cold!” Tuffnut grinned. Then they flew above the ice sheet and Barf spewed his green gas on top of it and then Belch ignited it. The result was an avalanche right on top of the Dragon Hunters. All of them ran for cover exept for Ryker who sidestepped to avoid getting hit by a chunk of ice. Then he looked up and saw the Dragon Riders.
“Damn Zipper!” he growled.
“You guys get the Snow Wraiths out of here!” Hiccup ordered looking at his friends. “I will deal with Ryker!”
“No! I will! I still have some payback to do for him letting you nearly drowning in the sea when he captured Toothless!” Astrid suddenly said and went after the Leader of the Hunters.
“Astrid! No!-Dragondung! Just great!-Okay, lets grab the Wraiths!” Hiccup growled.
At once they dived down straight towards the scattered Hunters and grabbed the cages and the Net with the captured white Dragons, before they could react, flying them to safety.
Ryker looked up and saw Astrid flying towards him.
“Ryker! Looks like you are in the tough spot this time!” the Shieldmaiden said.
“The girl on the Nadder! Missed you to catch the last time, but this time, I will!” Ryker growled and pulled a bow.
But then out of nowhere Dagur appeared riding on Shattermaster and grabbed Ryker, pulling him behind him on the Gronkles back.
“Dagur?”
“Sorry, my fierce walkyrie, we gotta go.” said the Berserker as the flew away.
“You think, you can getting away from Stormfly on a Gronkle? Come on, girl! Let´s get them!”
Astrid chased after them around the glacier.
“Cant this thing go faster?” Ryker yelled.
“Usually he is not carrying this much weight!” Dagur snapped. “Come on, bud! Give all you have!”
“Excuses!” Ryker muttered and pulled an arrow out of his quiver. He then fired at Astrid, but Stormfly doged it and all the others he fired. Then Rykers quiver was empty.
“Good work, girl! Now its our turn!” Astrid said with a serious voice. “This blast is for Hiccup, you nearly let die in the Ocean!”
Stormfly got ready to breath her fire, but then out of nowhere Hiccup appeared right in front of them.
“Hiccup! Look out!” Astrid yelled as they passed him.
“Astrid! No! Hiccup yelled as Astrid wanted to let Stormfly open fire. “Dagur is with us!”
Astrid pulled Stormfly up making her miss and giving them an opportunity to escape. She then turned to Hiccup and looked at him.
“What did you just say?”
“Dagur and Heather are spying for the Dragon Hunters. They never changed the sides.” Hiccup repeated and looked at her guilty. He knew he would have a lot of explaining to do.
Later that night, back on the edge, in the clubhouse.
Hiccup began to explain everything.
“Heather pretended to join Dagur to get close to him to avenge her family. When she found out, about his alliance with the Dragon Hunters, she decided to get closer to him to found out more. What she diddn´t knew, Dagur was there as a spy too, after the Hunters were on Berserker Island, trying to win him to join them. So Dagur went with them and he met his sister at Rykers Ship.” Hiccup said.
“But when Ryker captured us on his ship, you and Dagur were fighting all the time.” Ruffnut frowned.
“That’s what we wanted people to think. That Dagur has again changed the sides. But he hasn’t.”
“Dagur and Heather are not evil?” Snotlout blinked.
“Oh, I knew Heather was good at heart.” sighed Fishlegs.
“Same goes for Dagur.” nodded Hiccup. “I must hide it, not that someone accidently blow their cover.”
“And you kept this from us!” Astrid said angrily.
“I am sorry guys, but Dagur insisted that I keep it a secret.” said Hiccup. He then looked at Astrid who turned her back to him. “Astrid, I am sorry.”
“We supposed to be a team. And you are our leader, Hiccup!” she said.
“I know, Astrid. I should have told you. I wanted to. I really did.”
“But you diddn´t.”
“But without Dagur and Heather, the Dragon Hunters would have keyed to the Dragon Eye right now and those Snow Wraiths would not be safely hidden on another island.”
“That still doesn’t explain why you would let me take him and Ryker down.” said Astrid. “We could have captured the head of the Dragon Hunters!”
“Astrid, Ryker isn’t the head of the Dragon Hunters.” said Hiccup and everyone is staring at him. “According to Dagur the real leader is someone named Viggo Grimborn.”
“Awesome name. Scary, but awesome.” mentioned Ruffnut.
“He lives in the shadows. Everyone is afraid of him, even Ryker. Dagur or Heather hadn´t met him yet, but they are our best shot at drawing him out.”
Astrid leaned against the doorway looking at the night sky. Then she looked back at Hiccup. “Well, I hope, they know what they are doing. For all our sake.” she said.
Later that night, Hiccup went to his chest, where he hid the picture shield he got from Dagur and took it out again. Then he hung it back on his place at the wall in his hut. Now that the secret was out, he don’t need to hide it any more.
“Dagur….Heather… please stay safe.” he murmured.

Prompt: 100 percent gang feels. Hiccup decides to give himself up for the bounty, and the gang's reaction is to tackle him and beg him not to do this. (Also, I apologize if this makes you cry when you write it!) OR something lighthearted: gang feels during that celebration on Berk that's likely about them. Like, group hugs, huddles of the gang, expressing how glad they are to share this experience of dragon riding together, that sort of thing.
What about booooth?
Hell, I really did want to cry writing this. I love me some gang feels.
“Hiccup and the dragon riders!”
“Oh, that’s nice,” Tuff shouted, although not loud enough for Gobber to actually hear, “he gets mentioned by name, and we’re all stuck here grouped in ‘dragon riders’.”
“Hey, at least you get grouped. Poor Toothless and the other dragons weren’t in there at all. They were the other half of the equation,” Hiccup offered, patting his best friend’s head soothingly. He looked around with a smile, a rather painful smile, because who knew if he’d ever see Berk again after tonight?
“Blah blah blah. Math is not what we’re talking about tonight. Let’s do this!” Snotlout cheered, pumping a fist into the air.
“Alright, guys.” His heart clenched. He didn’t want to leave the gang. He wanted to scream and cry and tell them to stop him. He didn’t want to leave his friends. His dad. His home.
Under him, Toothless cooed concernedly, sensing his fear.
His best friend.
“Let’s give ‘em a show to remember.”
Ruffnut and Tuffnut whooped with delight, speeding off, with Snotlout following them. The first thing to do was the twins’ explosion and Snotlout’s rings of fire (which he could finally do now), and then him, Fishlegs, and Astrid would follow up with their own performance. He scratched Toothless’ chin distractedly, remembering not to hit that one spot that would make them both fall out of the sky.
“Are you okay, Hiccup?” Astrid asked, flying in front of him. “You seem off.”
Fishlegs voiced his agreement. “Yeah. You’ve been like a mixture of happy and jumpy all day. It’s weird. Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Guys.” Hiccup fake laughed, and both Astrid and Fishlegs gave him a look as though telling him to quit the bullshit. He winced, but continued to lie. “I’m fine.”
“What are you -” Astrid began, but she was cut off by Snotlout’s shout of “OI OI OI!” which was the signal for them to start. Astrid sped forward, and Fishlegs followed. As Hiccup trailed behind them, he wondered if he was going to be sick.
The show was a success. And so was convincing his dad to get drunk. It was a celebration after all, he said. Wine was a must, he said. And his dad had bought it.
But not before telling him how proud he was.
Hiccup let a tear fall down his face before he was full on sobbing as he ran. There was already a boat he had build, waiting for him on shore. Waiting to sail to Outcast Island.
The last time the bounty hunters had attacked them, Ruff had gotten hurt. And it wasn’t a minor scratch or bruise, either. She had been straight up stabbed in the leg, and although she had healed and was as fun filled as before, Hiccup remembered how it felt like he had been the one who was stabbed. It still felt like that.
One last performance was what he promised himself. He had left instructions for how to fly Toothless and how to put on the other tail, that would let him fly by himself too. He really did hope Toothless would forget about him.
And Astrid. He had given her a peck on the lips and a whispered, “I love you,” before leaving the hall. She would always be like that, he knew, fierce and tough and loving and so Astrid. He really was in love with her.
Hiccup kept running.
Their lives had been in danger so many time, why couldn’t he think about that? Why did he have to think about all times he had taught Astrid to draw because of how determined she was to help him with the map, and helping the twins with their pranks whenever there was time? Why did he have to remember the awesome sword he and Fishlegs had geeked out over while translating the runes, and how his relationship with Snotlout had improved tremendously after long nights of flying together and laughing over virtually nothing?
Why couldn’t he remember being kidnapped, or close calls and bolas flying in the air trying to knock them down? Why couldn’t he forget the feeling of wonder when him and Toothless had flown in harmony for the first time?
Hiccup sobbed harder, and stopped running as his breath ran short. He leaned against a tree, and took one good look behind him.
“Going somewhere?”
A Deadly Nadder landed in front of him, and an even more Deadly Maiden was on her, with her eyes narrowed.
Hiccup gaped as all the dragons landed. None of them looked impressed as they all got off their respective dragons, and Tuffnut was the first one to approach him, knocking him down.
“Are you crazy, H?” he asked.
Hiccup was about to answer when he noticed Snotlout. Besides, Hiccup himself, he was the only one who also had tears on his face. His cousin scowled at him and then, kneeled down, hugging him tightly.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he said fiercely, “you know you’re the only chance I have of being an uncle, right?”
That was the lamest excuse ever, and it made him smile weakly as both boys hugged him.
That wasn’t all, though.
Fishlegs was next. He didn’t say anything, he just scooped him - more like all of them - into his own embrace, and Hiccup didn’t protest. His chubby friend began to cry too, and Tuff laughed, but it was more of a sympathetic one, and very unlike him.
Hiccup looked up at the two girls, only to see they were crying too. So that made all of them, except Tuffnut, and his heart clenched more than it did when he had left the Grand Hall.
They cared about him. Gods above, they cared about him a lot.
“It’s like the weirdest bro hug ever,” Ruff sniffed, before she too joined the mess on the floor, “you idiot, Haddock,” she mumbled into his ear, “you’re not giving yourself up to anyone.”
There wasn’t really any room left, so Astrid sat next to him, hitting him on the shoulder, so soft he barely felt it, and then leaned her head on his shoulder. “That’s for thinking you leaving would go unnoticed by us. I hate you, dragon boy.” She kissed his cheek, and let her head fall on his shoulder. “I love you.”
Hiccup didn’t know how long they stayed like that for. All he knew was that this felt so good, to be cared for.
After fifteen years of nothing, his friends would give him every moment of everything.

Snotlout has the most development throughout all the franchise and im so so so grateful. Dreamworks gave us this little prick of a kid and said "actuallywe are going to make him so likeable". Httyd has always been on some kevel about defying expectation and exploration and Thawfest (although apparently people dont like it) is sooo interesting to me. I rant abt it so much literally they DID that. Snotlout could so easily have been the annoying, sarcy comedic relief but hes NOT!!! Thawfest comes around and you realise, this kids not even insecure, hes just scared. Hes scared of the dad who he clearly admires so much. and thats so interesting?????? And they reiderate time and time again that Spitelout is not going to get better. Everytime we see him its a back and forth, maybe this time we'll see him redeemed! it is a kids franchise, after all! and Although apparently in the end it isnt handled very well, for the most part, he doesnt get better. Snotlout learns the lesson that he can be whatever HE wants to be, and NOT what his dad wants him to be - and he forgets it. and thats so important to me. Its not cut and dry. its NEVER been cut and dry. Yes spitelout's a bad person, but Snotlout still loves him, he still admires him, he still pines for his attention. Theres never ONE moment where he cuts him off (although I would of liked to see a final moment where he does), its constant. Stoick apologised to Hiccup, they made ammends. But Spitelout is not Stoick, and they do not have to make up. Its so importsnt to me that httyd (for the most part) never made a statement that forgiveness is neccessary because theyre family. You can tell Snotlout does not like his dads company, but wants it when he doesnt have it. Hes a character that has so much more depth than you would expect for a dreamworks kids show and it all links back together. Hes a cocky bastard -> because his dad doesnt let him show weakness. He is neglective to hookfang -> because thats all he knows. He prioritises masculinity over health and safety -> because his dad says he has to. And he never fully grows out of it, either. He still glances to see if anyone catches him crying when hes 20. He still has a big mouth and flirts with anything that moves and freezes up when they flirt back. He still pines for the approval of people he considers to be above him, but he continues to be everything that his dad isnt.
And we're given this, a treat, by the people up at dreamworks. People who clearly care about the character they are presenting here. People that werent even necessarily at the time getting positive feedback from this character. And they said, "Now that hes likeable, lets make him relateable." And they gave us the Thor Bonecrusher episode. I will never get over mlm Snotlout Jorgenson. I have to take a step back and look at these characters Ive known for all my life to the point they feel as tangible as I am myself, and I get to say, "Hes just like me." Hes queer and its wonderful. like thats canon. And theres never a MOMENT where he gets made fun of for it in universe. they make fun of him for being a simp, sure, but never for liking men? It has its flaws of course, but I can never NOT gush about how lovely httyd is. they put so much care into all of their characters (except heather 420 blaze it no one cares anyway). Idk i just. they really did everything with Snotlout huh. <3
(TLDR its 1am and I watched Not Lout yesterday)
YESSSSS YOU SAID IT EXACTLY
He has such significant character development across so much time, like he starts out as this very insecure, cocky bully, and we get to see him change into a mature, caring leader and a good friend and it’s????? Totally believable?? We watch him go on this incredible journey and grow up so much. Even the episodes he doesn’t change in (like big man on berk) expand on the different sides of his character that we don’t always get to see. They have so much time to expand on him and let him grow and they do and I literally love him so much, he was handled so well in the shows.
(noooo bc I feel that)
