My main points of reference for this project were The Blob (1988), The Thing (1986), Junji Ito, the Hellsing manga, the academic romance anime genre, otome games (Japanese dating video games), Don't Starve Together, medical diagrams, photos of real medical cadavers, and more. The reference document for this project included at least 100 carefully studied photos, including selections from the 1,200 screenshots I took and organized while scrubbing frame-by-frame through The Blob. I have NO CHILL.

The Villains of Magiced Up (Civilian Apperances)

These girls may seem normal and completely innocent, but don't be fooled. They've got a few evil tricks up their sleeves.

Yuzuki Chikaraishi/Queen Karuyami - The main antagonist of the series. Slowly getting more and more corrupted by dark magic, Yuzuki is a troubled girl who grew vulnerable to the power, the freedom the darkness of Maura offered her. Unlike the other villains, who have a 'friendly-but-also-we're-still-good-vs-evil' dynamic, she is actively hostile to the Magica Squad

Iroha Okuyama/Princess of Hearts - A sort of bratty villain, she can use cards both as a weapon, but also to power up and give herself different powers. She has somewhat of a liking towards Aisha, since Hearts are a symbol of Love.

Yukina Reizi/Snowfall - though shy in her civilian persona, she is cold as a villain. She can summon snow and ice, cause snow storms and blizzards, and freeze people. She really just wants to make it snow everywhere, and sees the Magica Squad as kind of annoying for trying to stop her

Mayabi Ito/The Ghost - Having died in an accident during the Late 19th century, Mayabi grew bitter from being dead. She has the ability to drain part of other people's souls, posses people and turn into a more demonic form. She got semi-reincarnated into a physical form, but she can turn into a ghost at will, but it sometimes also happens when she's upset or angry.

Hikari Atsumi/Ballerina - One of Mika's old Ballet friends, Hikari's love of dance transfers over into her villain powers. She's extremely flexiable, and uses ballet moves to fight. She can also use dancing ribbons in order to tie up enemies or hyponotise them, putting them in paralysis. She's suprinsingly nice to enemies, in a sickly-sweet way.

Was fucking around on the internet, found this group chat creator, decided to roll with it. This conversation was one I'd played around with some time ago.

I don't think I've revealed it before, but yes, their group would be called The Dásos Society! This is probably not how the conversation would go in story, hopefully getting to this point BEFORE Shinju, though not a guarantee. With each new character they would try a different name, but I think Masahiko would probably broach the idea of a society as soon as he was asked for an opinion.

The head and tongue in this panel are a 3D model that I made in Nomad Sculpt and then imported into Clip Studio. Then, upon deciding that 3D modeling is hard actually, I discovered I could fake a 3D look for the rest of the body by modifying a metallic brush. I was going for "thing you see in an early 2000s video game as a kid that fucks you up forever"! or "thing from Courage the Cowardly Dog that makes you go How Was This A Kids' Show???"

Anon, thank you for this question because it made us sit down and actually look through the albums of my old art and write a list LOL We thought it’d take like 30 minutes tops + 10 minutes to write all of this down, but it took 2+ hours yikes… So sorry, no other replies today :(

And made us realise just how much we revisit certain fandoms 🤦‍♂️ I guess we’re loyal!

Some of them were just very brief phases when we watched/rewatched something, I drew like 5 sketches for this thing and we moved on after about a week. But it was still prominent enough for us to feel like “Oh right, Ryu was drawing (this) back then”. Damn, 2013-2016 were insane, we were jumping around so much… When did these people have time to watch and draw so much shit??
