Pillowfort
I think of the depression medication scripts, The psychosis hall passes and death sentence labels, Fake happy pills so you can keep us working until there is a moment of opportunity to crush us, Fake - remove sexual deviance and predatory trait - pills until they hurt someone else and you blame it on a mental illness anyway. You know why the girl in Toronto jumped from the balcony? Because you pushed her. It wasn't psychosis baby. And my heart is so sad and so disappointed knowing I am on the same list.
Anyway, I think of everything, From my sister sitting in the basement of 218 concession, it was dark, and it was cold outside, I was waking up -- probably from the same combo John Daubs fed the girls (Go fuck yourselves!) And then times at KGH - from the 1st visit last fall via EMS (Allyce Yiseman/Allyce Wiseman on my bracelet), to being held against the chair as it fell forward and my skull smashed against the tile floor in the basement, Chris the grey suit laying in a fucking booth (fully clothed) and for whatever reason told me to sit above him.
Anyway, From there, my RBC bank card went missing from the bus, I woke up as Jeff from KGH security was getting off and walking into KGH. I also remember the van I was locked in at Grenfell as these things were discussed. Bed bugs, phones taken out of my hands in my pods as my breathing shorted, Being hit by that bitch Mary-Anne or whatever--- for some sweater her "mother" gave her, that I said I did not want, that she was tryna make me pay some $50 ransom for. Funny, it reminded me alot like the donated one stolen from the back of my chair at 681 Princess St Tim Hortons.  (Some maps show it as 618 Princess St) Being hit, being told I was going to get hit with a cop present, The culligan pool with Harmony Rd, Chris, and some of the staff, Artillery pool during aquafit, with Steve and Blonde G.I Joe (Shane) from KGH security. From osap defaulting to the shelter being closed for a flood the night my last GST came in, One of the 4x4 wheelers stores I thought to apply to, only to remember Steve, (Maybe Chad & the other security guy at Providence) and the guy with the boxer from 218 Concession --- with the chubby chaser sticker on the back of his truck.  Followed by the bunk bed & locker set up (Likely Kelowna) with the cops and one of the girls in the shelter system, Followed by the facetime showing with some kid from North Bay -- I was there. This happened before. He was odd from the start. And so was Ben. Deja Vu as I walked up his street. As I was in his apartment. And the cops and the shelter girls met us there too.  Yeah.  I'd jump too. I'd jump too. And yknow they threatened me with jail too. Probably some silly fuckin' technicallity.  So you could run my name through your systems, probably forced me on pills for my freedom, Probably put me in isolation, and be met with gaurds equivient of Wayne Decoff and Mr. Shamji. You brought them to 1555 Lambs Rd by the way. They met eachother. The cops were there. Dr. Paulovic had shown up or been mentioned ( He WAS at the doctors office, he WAS at Mark E's house --- when Mark let me hug him and put his guitar on the other side of my back. His kids and wife were there. You brought my siblings along. And yes Dr. Paulovic. And the hotel room where my siblings were on the bed, you dumped booze into my brothers mouth. Who was there? Shane, Sean and fucking Melissa. And my doctor. I was ziptied to the chair. I said I'd spit in her face but spit on the ground instead, because I'm solid with the ground I was on, but I would never be solid for them.
I understand why the girl from Toronto jumped. She had a name.  Orville jumped knowing he was guilty, and I bet she did knowing she didn't check your list of boxes and requirements for profit for life. And I would jump too. SIU cleared them. They'll probably clear DRPS too, without publishing  THE ENTIRE COST AND RECIEPTS OF THE ALCOHOL STOLEN FROM BOWMANVILLE ----- VS THE LIFES LOST, AND IMPACTED ON THAT 401 SERIES HIGHWAY.  GOT YOUR RECIEPTS BOYS? I HOPE SO.
They won't publish the receipts.
Anyway, these are the things they deliver to us.  Steve said he'd give my ipad to my sister as a gift when I'm gone, Turned around and said he'd likely be her gift when I'm gone. There was a Michelle one of y'all were with back in Courtice too, and I remember that call too. Not the Michelle from the shelter. Trust me, I'm better off gone.  Slaughtered into a million pieces so I haunt you while I'm at peace in the next world over.
Anyway, these are the things they deliver to us.  Steve said he'd give my ipad to my sister as a gift when I'm gone, Turned around and said he'd likely be her gift when I'm gone. Bon appetite or good luck or whatever.

Along for the Ride PT 1
Pairing: KirishimaxF!Reader
Summary: A drunken mistake had you marking the little Plus One box to your snobby cousin's wedding. Kirishima told you not to worry, if you couldn't find a date, he'd go with you. When the wedding gets moved up, there's absolutely no time to find a date and you're now about to be traveling to America with Kirishima on a private jet no less, dreading having him meet your rude and impossibly arrogant family.
Contains: Kirishima and Reader both come from very well-off families. Plus-Sized Reader. Fluff. Hurt/Comfort.
Warnings: Kinda smutty for a minute. Minors DNI. Drunken Sex. TW: Manipulative Family Relationships. TW: Body Image Issues
A/N: This story has been rolling around in my head for a while now. I might rewrite this and repost. Or I might just post the whole thing soon. I dunno yet. It does get smuttier.
Word Count: 4,974
"What's up with Y/N?"
Eijiro stepped out of the locker room with a towel slung over his shoulder and made his way into the kitchenette where Mina was chugging a bottle of water before getting back to her patrol. His eyes were trained on their mutual friend out on the patio, pacing.
You had your phone pressed to your ear, the high neck of your hero costume unzipped to your collarbone and he noticed your gloves discarded on a chair.
"No clue." Mina shrugged. "She got back from patrol and she noticed a bunch of missed calls from her mom. She's been out there, flailing on the phone for the last fifteen minutes now."
The three of you had met in your second year at UA when you transferred into their class and were quickly accepted by their little squad of friends. You were a bit quiet at first but quickly found comfort in the group. Eijiro had grown especially close to you when you both interned with Fat Gum.
Late nights traveling on the train back to school, a few close calls while helping patrol, and days spent playing cards while you both healed up in the hospital left plenty of time for Eijiro to get to know you better than most. It was how he knew you had a pretty bad relationship with your family, why you hated returning home for the holidays almost as much as you hated any and all forms of tomatoes.
He considered going out there just to see if there was anything he could do but before he had the chance, you were sliding the glass door open. "Oh, good, you're back." He offered you a bottle of water for your throat that he assumed was sore after that argument. "I- um- can I borrow you for a second? Alone?"
Mina snorted a laugh. "If you guys wanna bang it out on the counter you can just say so. I gotta go to work anyways."
Eijiro threw the towel at her as she left the room leaving you two alone. "What's goin' on?"
You hoisted yourself up on the countertop while he leaned against the fridge. "You remember my cousin's wedding that's happening this winter?"
He nodded. He vividly remembered the both of you getting waste a few weeks ago when you were filling out the RSVP and accidentally marking 'plus one'. Then you ran around trying to find White Out but he'd told you if you didn't find a date or have a significant other by the time of the wedding, he'd just go with you.
You argued that your family was bat shit crazy, had more money than they could spend in their lifetime and because of that, they were among some of the rudest people you knew, and you didn't want Eijiro or anyone else around that.
The thing was, Eijiro already knew that and was still okay with going. He came from money too. A lot of it. His family was just more welcoming than yours, the wealth never really going to their heads. But, he reminded you that he'd ran into enough people like those in your family that he knew how to handle them. You finally agreed to let him accompany you, leaving the plus one box checked but the name line blank.
"Well, my cousin just found out that surprise, she's pregnant! And, obviously, she can't have a wedding while seven months along so they've decided to move the wedding up to this weekend."
He nearly choked on his own spit. "This weekend? As in four days from now?"
"Yup! Saturday at 4 in the evening. Oh! No one's supposed to know she's pregnant either. So, I'm just supposed to compliment her on how flattering her dress looks, how thin she is," Your hands strangled the water bottle between them, "And I have to find something flattering to my figure because my mother has seen me in my hero outfit and she's so glad I wear a mask because if anyone knew her daughter ran around looking like I do, well, it'd ruin her!"
You massaged your temples circling back to the actual point, "Anyways, I just wanted to bitch for a sec and let you know you're off the hook since four days is just a little short notice and I told her my plus one wouldn't be able to get the time off that fast."
He pushed off the fridge. "Well, wait, hang on! I'm not letting you go in alone to deal with them! Hell no! You need backup!" You looked almost taken aback by his abruptness, "Yeah. I can work this out. Is the wedding at the same place it was supposed to be or has it moved?"
"No, it's still that fancy lodge in California. I was planning on leaving Friday morning and then coming back either Sunday night or Monday morning since my mother insists I go to their brunch the following day. But, Eijiro, I already have this weekend off..."
"Denki owes me a favor or twelve. He's supposed to be off this weekend too, I'll just see if he can cover me."
"And if he can't?"
"Then..." He pressed the back of his hand to his forehead, "Y/N, am I feeling warm to you? I think I might be starting a fever!"
You folded your arms, shaking your head, "Thought you said lying isn't manly."
"Technically, correct. But, what would be real unmanly is for me to let you deal with your family's bullshit all alone." You watched him closely, "To be honest, I'm sure we could just explain you had a family thing come up and asked me to come along for moral support. I don't really think anyone would think twice about it. Hell, you took a few days off to console me when my turtle died suddenly!"
"Eiji, you refused to eat."
"And you brought me my favorite dumplings! Same thing!"
You might have shaken your head at him but your arms opened wide. The telltale sign you wanted affection. He walked forward, consuming you in a tight hug. Your arms latched around his neck, face buried in the hollow of his throat. "You're the best."
"I just do what I can."
>>><<<
You should have canceled. Instead of Eijiro faking sick to get out of work, you should have faked it with your mother so you didn't have to go in the first place. You crumpled to the floor of your bedroom in pure frustration amidst the twenty or so outfits and dozen pairs of shoes you'd thrown out of your closet trying to find something that your mother would deem appropriate.
It wasn't your fault you had a fuller figure. You worked out, ate right, not to mention your job kept you very active, and yet your, hips, ass, and breasts were by no means subtle.
Your mother had also insisted on the dress being floor-length and modern, "Do try not wearing all black. It's a wedding, not a funeral. And, get your hair looking natural, please." And, just like that, 70% of your wardrobe was out the window!
"It's open!" You called from the floor when the doorbell rang.
"You really should lock this." Mina tutted, walking through the door with a bag full of takeout.
"I do. At night."
"Honey, it's 9 PM."
"Night like bedtime."
Mina just rolled her eyes and walked into your tiny kitchen. "I see the dress hunt is going well."
"I actually figured it out!" You got off the floor, careful not to step on a heel as you made your way to the pink haired woman, "I'm just gonna go in my birthday suit. I figured, my mother made my body technically therefore she can't disapprove of it. Because, you know, she's never done anything wrong in her life!"
Your best friend snorted out a laugh and passed you the take-out container stuffed full of stir fry. "you're a wonderful person, you know that?" You loved the fact Mina didn't even have to ask what you wanted.
"If you'd just move closer to work then you could pick it up yourself and I wouldn't have to bring it to you."
"Too expensive." You declared after a mouthful. "You pay almost twice as much as I do per month and I just don't see the point. I have damn near the same amount of space you do for half the cost!"
You adored your small one-bedroom apartment. It was perfect. Right above a bakery that you visited each morning after your run and a little balcony that provided you with the most stunning view of the sunset.
"You and Kiri, I swear." Mina just shook her head and curled up with her food on the loveseat. "I thought he'd end up with the biggest house out of us all the moment we started making that real Pro money. You've seen his parent's house. It's massive! You could get lost in that place!"
Eijiro's place was barely bigger than your own. He lived in the same condo he had since you'd graduated UA, claiming it was perfect for him in each and every way. But, you knew that he donated a sizable amount of his paycheck every month to charities, the same as you. With savings to spare, neither of you saw the point in hoarding it and therefore the small condo was all he could afford with what he actually kept.
"Just don't understand how a guy that big can live in such a tiny little space. At least with you, it's you know, physically feasible."
Eijiro's bedroom was barely large enough to fit the king-sized bed the man needed to sleep comfortably and even then, his feet were dangerously close to dangling off the bed. And, as if the man's ears were burning, your cell phone went off under a pile of discarded shoes.
Shark-E: Figured out your dress situation? If not, I'm just gonna pack like ten different ties and hope for the best.
You: Yeah! I totally did! I'm just gonna wear this birthday suit I got and call it a night.
You chuckled at your own joke all over again. Watching the grey ellipses appear and then vanish, appear and vanish again. After a third time, you took pity on the man.
You: Joking, Ei. I still don't have it figured out but Mina's over so, hopefully, she can help.
Shark-E: Gonna give me a damn heart attack! Seriously, I wouldn't put it past you just to see the look on your mom's face. Tell Mina hi and good luck to you. I vote the dress from the Hero Gala two years ago.
You: Hi from Mina. Can't. Too much boobs.
Shark-E: You take that back right now! There is NEVER such a thing as too much boobs!
You chuckled to yourself, putting your phone down, and then finished off the last of your delicious dinner, thinking about the dress Eijiro mentioned.
You wondered if maybe there was a way you could make the thing work but it was so very low cut. So much tape had been used to make sure no slips happened but damn was it worth it! The beaded bodice with the sparkling long sleeves, gods, how you loved that dress.
"I'm inclined to agree with our shark boy. You're busty, who gives a damn. You looked hot as hell in that dress."
"My mother, that's who. As much as I'd like to not give a flying fuck what she thinks, for some dumb reason, I do. On top of her telling me that the amount of cleavage I would show would be vastly inappropriate for a wedding, she'd also say the way it hugs my hips makes them look too fat."
Mina rolled her eyes. "She's such a piece of work." Pushing herself up, she held her arms out to you, wiggling little pink fingers for you to take. "Come on then. Let's get you sorted."
"What about that one you wore to the charity art thingy with Kyoka last winter? The one with the silver top."
"Silver is too close to white." You called out from within your closet.
"What! Not true!"
"You know that. I know that. Every person with two brain cells knows that, which is why most of my family does not know that."
"Fine..." She whined and started sifting through the opposite end of your closet. "Oh, what about this?" Mina waved about the blue and green plaid skirt that made up your uniform from your middle school days when you lived in America. "Please try this on. I'm begging!"
You were pretty sure it wouldn't even go over your thighs anymore.
"It's got a better chance of fitting you!"
Mina threw it at you anyway. Slipping off the sweats you wore, somehow, someway, you were able to tug it on AND get it zipped, barely. It no longer covered your ass but you still enjoyed the way it swished around when you wiggled your hips.
"You could be fulfilling so many people's fantasies right now." Mina mused.
You pulled the skirt off and sweats back on, throwing the former back at her. "Yeah, you can take it and go fulfill Hanta's fantasies if you like. Not like I've got anyone to impress." You pulled down a dress you bought on sale a year ago but Mina was quick to dismiss it.
Too puffy, she said and then held up one that was from Momo. "I needed to get it shortened and I don't have time for that now."
"Wait..." She hummed and dropped the Momo dress. "I know what it should be!"
Mina hurried through the closet, grumbling about not finding it. "Just tell me which dress and I can tell you where it's at."
"It's that one you got for grad night and then you got sick and couldn't go!"
"Mina, Mina I can't wear that! That's actual vintage, not like, made-to-look-vintage!"
"But it's so elegant and has that off-the-shoulder sleeve thing. The wedding is at a damn sky lodge! It'll look so pretty in the snow! Ah! Found it!"
She yanked up the long, elegant gown from the garment bag you'd never removed it from. There wasn't a single wrinkle in the burgundy fabric. It looked just as beautiful as the day you found it in that second-hand store, on a mannequin with gaudy stage jewels that you just had to buy so the look was complete.
You ran the back of your hand over the velvety fabric, soft to the touch. "It'll be too tight now. If I was the same size I was at graduation-"
"Bullshit!" Mina cut you off with a dismissive hand, "You've got hips now. We aren't 18 anymore! It's not like it's some clubbing dress. And I bet no one would say a damn thing about your figure if they knew how easily you could crush them with those thighs!"
A smirk tugged at the corner of your lips. Without quirks, you gave every single one of your classmates a run for their money in hand to hand. Most were fairly easy to beat. You could usually take down Eijiro in about five or six minutes and Katsuki in half the time. Funny enough, it was Ochaco that gave you the hardest time.
"I'll consider it. But help me find something else just in case."
>>><<<
It was another two hours before you finally agreed on an a-line, empire waist green and gold number that had been the bridesmaid's dresses for Tetsutetsu's wedding. Mina thought they were a crime the first time they had to wear them, she had no idea what you were thinking.
That's why the moment you were preoccupied with trying to find yet another dress for the Sunday brunch, Mina pulled out her phone.
You: DO NOT, under any circumstances, allow Y/N to wear the green dress. She's bringing two because she can't decide. Red is the winner!
Jaws: Aw, come on. If she likes it, let her wear whatever she's comfortable in. She'll be under enough stress already.
You: Kirishima, it's the dress from Tetsu's wedding. The one that looks sparkly baby food.
It took him a second to respond.
Jaws: Alright. Understood. I thought you guys looked good but damn, she hated that dress.
You: We all did.
Mina looked at the message chain again and couldn't help but asked, "Are we just gonna ignore the fact that you and Eiji are flying all the way to America, last minute, to attend a wedding together, even though you're not together?"
"We've flown to the states before."
"For work!" She sat up eagerly. "This is different, Y/N! This is a date and not just a, like, casual date but a wedding date!"
You poked your head out of the closet. "No, it isn't. This is a friend helping another friend who stupidly mismarked an RSVP." You corrected very plainly but Mina wasn't one to give up so easily.
She whined, dragging out your name, "You guys have been doing this thing for ages. Why do you have to be so stubborn about it all!"
"What's that supposed to mean!"
Mina started ticking off points on her fingers. "He was the first person you opened up to at UA. You saved his life when he was busy saving Katsuki's life second year. You spent all that time interning together, became sidekicks together. Went to America together for three whole months, ALONE, and you honestly expect me to think there's nothing between the two of you!"
The truth of it all was simple really; 17 year old you had a massive crush on Eijiro Kirishima. He was sweet, always listening to you, providing comfort when you needed it, and always encouraging you to push your limits. He was bright and honest, a little slow in the head from time to time but that made him all the more endearing.
He was also head over heels in love with Katsuki Bakugo.
It was why you never made a move. Never spoke a word of the feelings you harbored. You didn't dare to cross that line with him because you couldn't ever hold a candle to the explosive man.
In the three years Eijiro and Katsuki spent together, your brain finally started registering Eijiro as just a friend, nothing more, and certainly nothing less. You thought your heart had followed suit but it was becoming more and more apparent that wasn't the case. Because the night he showed up at your door, tears in his ruby eyes, every lock you put on your heart broke open.
The same way you couldn't hold a candle to Katsuki, Eijiro couldn't hold one to Izuku. You knew exactly what he was feeling even if you never intended to tell him. Too overcome with fear. If Katsuki came back... that'd be it. Eijiro would go back and you wouldn't even blame him!
Still, the redhead consumed a decent chunk of your heart though, you couldn't deny that after the three months you spent together in America, gathering intel on a smuggling ring, living in the same apartment. The groggy, 'good mornings' when his voice was still scratchy with sleep, hair falling in his eyes. The late nights bandaging wounds and killing cheap bottles of wine while watching terrible American reality shows.
It was those bottles of wine that did you in on your second to last night in America. Supplying you with courage and draining your sense of reason, allowing you to crawl onto his lap, into his arms. You could still remember the pressure of his lips on yours, those sharp teeth gently dragging along your lower lip.
Scared hands tracing the curve of your ass before taking handfuls to squeeze. The laugh that came from you was unlike anything you heard before, something so genuine that you couldn't reproduce.
How it felt when he lifted you up and took you to his bed, laying you down taking his time removing your clothes, and watching with awe as you pulled away his own. The way he looked over top of you, his hair a curtain of red around you just before you closed your eyes, gasping while he filled you.
You also remembered the guilt that crept into your head during the wee hours of the morning, the doubt that was louder than the snores coming from behind you.
It made you slip from under his massive arm, gather up your clothes from his floor, you tucked the blanket around him, and pressed a kiss to his temple before padding out of the room.
You told yourself you'd talk to him about it if he brought it up, but he never did. Not the next morning, or night, not on the plane ride back home, nor anytime since. It was a memory you'd hold close to your heart, one you wouldn't let slip away or share.
"There's nothing there, Mina. We're just good friends is all." You lied with a smile on your face, something that had become surprisingly easy to do.
If only you knew that Mina saw right through it. That Mina already knew the truth of it all.
>>><<<
It was nearly one in the morning when your phone rang. The goofy picture of Eijiro with face half painted at a festival a few years back never failed to make you grin.
"It's a little late." You answered by way of greeting.
"Don't pretend like you were anywhere close to sleeping, you little night owl."
Chuckling at the nickname that had followed you since high school, "What's up, Eiji?"
"I was going over flights. You said in the office that you wanted to leave on Friday?"
"Yeah. I have patrol tomorrow and I didn't find any flights after 6 PM so, Friday is the earliest."
He was quiet on the other line for a moment. "Yeah, you don't have patrol tomorrow, or work at all for that matter."
You sat up a bit straighter in bed. "Um, yes I do."
"No, you don't. I called Mina, asked her if you'd mind taking that shift for you and, since she knows what's happening, she agreed the extra day for travel would do you some good. So, she's covering you tomorrow then you're off work until next Wednesday. As for me, thanks to all that overtime I put in when Denki, Kyoka, and Hitoshi got married, the three of them are splitting up my days so I have until Wednesday too."
Eijiro sounded impossibly proud on the other line, you could almost see the smirk on his face. "You've got this all planned out, don't you?"
"And a bag nearly packed. Just need you to tell me what ties to bring."
"Gold, burgundy, and black."
"Thought your mom said no black for you?"
"She said no black for the wedding. She said nothing about black at the brunch!"
You couldn't wait to put on the tea-length dress that had been a favorite for years. Satin with a lacy top and, best of all, pockets.
He let out a rumbling laugh that fell off into comfortable silence as you laid back in your bed, lights still on, the room still a mess. You tapped the speaker icon and laid the phone on the pillow right beside your head, listing to the various sounds of Eijiro moving around.
A door creaking open, a hanger clattering against another, and a zipper. "And just like that, I'm all set."
"Don't forget your passport or hero license."
"I have one in my wallet and the other in my backpack."
You swiped up on your iPad, off Netflix, and going to google, lazily searching through flights. "So, did you find any good flights since you've clearly been looking?"
Another chuckle, "Eijiro, why are you laughing?" More stifled giggles had you sitting up in bed again. "Just tell me a site you were on. They're just flights, what's so funny?"
"There isn't a site."
"You said you were checking flights."
"And I was... on my family's jet."
"Eiji! No! No, no, no! That is supposed to be for their business or hero things! My stupid cousin's wedding is neither of those things!"
"Relax, Y/N. My family has multiple and they don't have any business trips planned right now anyways. I already cleared it with my mom. Seriously, I just mention your name and she's likely to let me have it for a whole year at least. Plus Todoroki's is back up in working order so the agency is covered too."
Damn, why'd he have to be so good at planning from time to time! You'd completely forgotten about the second jet his family had. Always opting for the larger one since the few missions they needed it for required them to bring fifty or so heroes along.
"Besides, if we fly private, we can land at an airstrip closer to the venue and won't need to drive four hours on top of a ten-hour flight."
"Alright, okay, thank you but, let me take care of the rental car, please. It's the least you can let me do."
"Deal. I just have one more question for ya."
"What's that?"
"Wanna leave tonight?"
You nearly dropped your damn iPad in shock. "Eijiro! What the fuck has gotten into you! It's the middle of the night!"
"I'm excited!" He boomed, "I haven't had a vacation in months!"
"I hate to break this to you, buddy, but this isn't going to be a vacation. You really shouldn't get your hopes up. This isn't going to be a good time with laughs and fun memories... my family, they just, they aren't those kinds of people."
"But we are." He stated matter-of-factly. "If they want to have sticks up their asses then let them! We'll have a good time on our own, laugh and make fun memories! So, what do you say, Y/N? I can be at your place in fifteen. I just gotta put shoes on and grab my keys..."
"Wait, hang on. Are you forgetting that we need someone to, oh, I dunno, FLY THE PLANE! Actually, we need two someone's, can't forget about a co-pilot!"
He hummed happily and you rubbed your temples. "You, you have a pilot and a co, don't you, Eiji?"
"Mhm! There is a company we use. Two can be at the hanger in an hour and every hour after that. I just have to make the call and get the flight plan approved which will be done before I even get to your house."
There was literally no reason to say no. You had mostly everything packed, nothing you needed to get from the store, all you had to do was put on pants and pack up your hygiene bag and you were ready too. Maybe getting there quicker and getting the whole thing over with would be better than staying home dwelling on everything.
"Better put your shoes on."
The glee in his voice, that was enough to make this whole thing worth it, "I'll see you soon."
>>><<<
Eijiro reached into the backseat and plopped a bag down on your lap the very moment you were buckled in. "Had to make a pit stop." He explained.
"It's after two in the morning, where'd you have to..."
"Just open the bag and don't complain."
You found it filled to the brim with all your favorite snacks.
"I'm sure the plane will have a bunch of snacks we can raid but I know for a fact they don't have these." He held up a pack of cookies and creme flavored pocky that had been his favorite for as long as you'd known him, quickly followed by your favorite flavor too. You also found a massive bag of gummy worms and jolly ranchers.
"So, what you're telling me is our teeth are going to rot by the time we land? Not that I'm complaining."
You ripped open the bag of ranchers knowing that was what he'd go for first and sure enough his hand dove inside just as he pulled away from the curb. You could hear his dangerously sharp teeth biting through the rock candy like it was nothing while you still rolled one around your mouth.
Eijiro asked you about the resort you'd be going to, wondering if you'd been there before or what other stuff you guys could do when you weren't dealing with your family. "I figured we could fly back Monday night or Tuesday morning, you know, just play it by ear in case there was anything else we wanted to do."
More than anything, you wished you could just leech a little bit of that excitement from him. The glimpses of his smile you caught as you drove under the street lights made your heart ache.
"What?" He asked with that wide smile of his. You'd been caught staring, red-handed.
"I, uh, I just don't know what to tell you."
You could see the subtle change of his grin, watch as it softened and his hand came to rest on your thigh. "Hey, it's gonna be fine! And if we run into them while out doing stuff, you can just avoid them or hide behind me!" At least hiding behind Eijiro is an easy thing to do, damn mountain of a man.
His thumb slowly brushed back and forth. "'S gonna be okay. I'll beat 'em up if they're assholes!"
You snickered at his Katsuki impression and let the drone of the radio fill the air around you both. Enjoying the silence the rest of the way to the hanger with Eijiro's hand atop your leg.

First date with Shinsou
shinsou x gn!reader, fluff, lazy hours
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shinsou would ask you out on a date with the help of Eri, maybe asking you to help babysit after training.
Eri trusts you already and is so excited to find out your helping Shinsou with her and that your going out somewhere fun!
I feel like shinsou would bring you somewhere quite like a cat café, bringing Eri along to see if she gets along with cats because Shinsou might be asking for a new kitten for his birthday ;)
You are so excited to go out on this date because 1. Your going with your crush, 2. Spending time with Eri, 3. Who doesn't love a nice café?
"hello!~ sorry I was running late" you say as you pull on your spring coat smiling to Shinsou and waving to Eri. "Don't worry about it" shinsou says grabbing Eri's hand and heading towards the café 'there so cute I hope Eri doesn't say something about our pep talk this morning' shinsou thinks to himself as you converse with Eri about her day
"y/n what would you like to drink?" Shinsou asks whilst petting a ginger cat on his lap "oh I'll probably get a f/d and f/f, what about you?" "Black coffee with extra espresso" shinsou responds in a tired tone "oh god I'm guessing you got no sleep last night?" You say worriedly "no! He was worrying about your date today last night! Aizawa had to calm him down with herbal tea last night" Eri says while colouring in her menu card with the crayons the café brought over
you stifled a laugh behind your hand looking away from shinsou who went beat red "e-eri that's not true"
as your orders came you drank them whilst talking about nonsense along with playing with the cats the café had to offer
"awe shinsou look! This one looks like you" you hold up a grumpy long haired grey cat who looks like he just woke up from a nap
"ha ha very funny L/n" shinsou deadpans
you finished your drinks and start to head home, eri was happy she got to buy a few cat stickers she got when you donated to the shelter
"thank you for helping me mind Eri at the café, em...you free after school on Monday?" Shinsou asks whilst a blush adorned his face as hes scratching the back of his neck
" oh course I have to finish up on present mics project with Tsuyu first" you say as you adjust your hair as the spring wind blows passed
"alright sound good, say good bye to y/n Eri" Eri gives you a big hug and waves goodbye as you start to walk home
"they were so cute...shit I need to ask them out properly before someone else does" "your thinking about them again arnt you 'toshi " eri says skipping along side shinsou
"ughhh eri dont start again please" hitoshi says covering his blush again

Have a plan to kill everyone you meet- Fallout New Vegas Genocide run notes
Tumblr media
For some reason, and I can’t say why, I’ve had a hankering to play through Fallout: New Vegas again. There’s always a few quests I haven’t beaten, I guess, 100%% achievement completion or not.
However, video essays on moral choices in video games have been part of my feed recently, and like many, apparently, I’m someone who usually tries to pick the goody two-shoes options. But NO MORE! In this hypothetical future playthrough I wanna try and fuck over every single person, and for once end up with Bad Karma at the end.
I’ve seen a few things online about people doing murder only runs of this game, but I don’t think anyone’s tried this particular undertaking. Specifically, I’m not just gunning to gun down everyone I see, I’m going out of my way to kill as many named characters as possible. Using the Fallout Wiki as a hitlist, everyone it is possible to kill will be killed.
The following are my notes about routing such a playthrough. I hope they’re entertaining enough! :p
New Vegas Genocide Mode
The following characters cannot be killed for any reason:
The Forecaster, Melody, Max, Stacey, Lindsay, Pete, and Hector are all children and as such are undamagable- I’m sure a mod exists but I’m not gonna go download that, I don’t wanna end up on a list.
Tumblr media
Festus is a robot whom projectiles pass through and who takes no damage from physical attacks. Besides, his artificial intelligence is limited enough that are you really actually killing anything there?
Vendortron is in an impenetrable booth, and while I’m pretty sure you can glitch into its box, I’m also pretty sure he respawns anyway.
Yes Man can be killed as many times as I like, and I will, but he always respawns so even if you piss off/kill off other factions you still have a path to endgame.
The following characters are mutually exclusive- i.e. you can get one, but not the other.
Ranger Stevens and Cato Hostilius- The missions You’ll Know It When It Happens and Arizona Killer are about being on the opposite sides of an assassination attempt on the President of the NCR. Ranger Stevens only shows up if you’re trying to stop it, and Cato Hostilius is your contact for trying to cause it.
Gabban, Alerio, and Martina Groesbeck- This all comes back to Vulpes Inculta. Vulpes shows up in two events- in Nipton when you first arrive there, and in the Strip when you leave the Tops after confronting Benny. Gabban replaces Vulpes in Nipton if you kill him in the Strip, and Alerio replaces him if you kill him at Nipton. If you don’t kill him at either, he returns to the Fort where you can receive a quest from him involving Martina. To my knowledge, she doesn’t spawn without that quest. I do need to investigate if in theory you can get the quest from Vulpes before killing him and without visiting Nipton, letting you kill both him and Gabban.
The Big Problem: Reputation
Tumblr media
There are four characters whom only show up in their faction’s respective safehouses, requiring a significant dedication to not murdering people to unlock. In addition, access to certain quests with named characters (e.g. I Fought the Law) requires not being hated by the relevant faction. As such, we can’t start wantonly killing people until a certain point.
This gets complicated when it comes to the main 2 factions, being the Legion and the NCR. Fortunately, however, after the first act of the main story, reputation with both gets wiped (by Vulpes/Alerio and Crocker), which we can manipulate pretty well. It makes sense to do the NCR first, as reputation with them is more relevant overall and often costs Legion reputation.
This is the route I’ve figured out for how to work around this issue, including every quest that spawns uniquely named characters for us to murder. DLCs and Companions are currently not included, but shouldn’t be too hard to figure out. Except maybe Joshua Graham.
Start the game as a male character (Legion won’t let you in the pit fights if you’re a woman bc they’re sexist) and take Wild Wasteland (necessary for one event).
AVOID THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS/QUESTS: NIPTON, anywhere with major Powder Ganger concentrations, Ghost Town Gunfight/Run Goodsprings Run, Boulder City Showdown. We’re trying to maintain relationships with the NCR, Powder Gangers, and Great Khans as long as possible.
(At some point get enough Sunset Sarsaparilla Star caps to get Malcom to show up)
Head to Primm, picking up Ed-E and beginning his quest. This quest needs to be continued at minimum until April Martimer spawns in Freeside.
Solve Primm’s deputy problem somehow so Layla spawns later.
Make way to Freeside/New Vegas, however necessary.
Donate medical aid to Julie Farkas, raising Followers of the Apocalypse fame, until access to the Followers Safehouse is granted.
Go to the Atomic Wrangler and get Debt Collector (spawns Caleb McCaffery)
After acquiring the Cannibal perk, proceed down Beyond the Beef by working with Mortimer until Carlyle spawns.
Get and complete Bye Bye Love, spawning Big and Little Beard, making sure to kill everyone involved after Joanna gives the quest How Little We Know (spawns Cachino)
Go to Camp McCarran, and acquire quests Dealing with Contreras (spawns Keller), There Stands the Grass (spawns Keely), and Silus Treatment (lets you into Silus). Suck up to the NCR until access Colonel Hsu lets you into the Ranger Safehouse.
Go to Jacobstown and proceed along Guess who I Saw Today until Norton shows up.
Go to North Vegas Square and get Someone to Watch Over Me, proceeding until Greasy Johnny spawns.
Go to the Great Khan Encampment to get Don’t Make a Beggar of me, spawning Tyrone.
Go to the NCRCF and proceed down I Fought the Law, then betray the Powder Gangers to get Sergeant Lee to spawn.
Go to Hidden Valley and start Still in the Dark, spawning Ranger Dobson and killing him. Complete the quest to gain access to the Brotherhood of Steel Safehouse.
Go confront Benny at the Tops, resetting negative reputation with the Legion and NCR.
Proceed to the Fort and start the Legion questline, making sure to complete Laurifer Gladiator and start The Finger of Suspicion.
Keep going down the Legion Questline, eventually reaching Arizona Killer- make sure to kill Cato after assassinating Kimball and Watson.
If Lucius hasn’t given access to the Legion Safehouse yet, do bullshit for the Legion until he does (e.g. give Aurelius NCR Dogtags)
Once access is granted, it is now safe to start killing everyone! Have fun.
After the blood of your enemies, friends, and strangers covers everything, proceed down the Wild Card route to the endgame, making sure to kill Yes Man after every conversation, so you can get to the Second Battle of Hoover Dam and murder Legate Lanius. Don’t let Yes Man kill Lee Oliver, do it yourself!
As the credits roll, use glitches/godmode to regain control so you can go behind the slideshow and kill Ron the Narrator.
Still during the credits, end it all the only way we know how- blow yourself up, killing the last named character available to kill.
Maybe consider using console commands to spawn in the 2 characters that were mutually exclusive just to kill them. Might as well.

The only person who understood the Muggle game Monopoly was Harry, and even then, that boy couldn’t be bothered to sit down the whole time. And yet, it was him who brought it with him from his aunt and uncle’s place - it was his cousin Dudley’s once upon a time before he’d discovered the Sony PlayStation - and then all the Weasley’s in the Burrow were sitting in to play. First to read the rules was Mr Weasley, but then when he couldn’t understand the fake paper muggle game money, he handed the rules to Ron.
The problem with playing a muggle boardgame with your boyfriend? He thinks he knows everything.
Sitting in the lounge room with the little table moved out of the way was you, Harry, Ginny, Ron, George, Charlie and Hermione. Harry decided to be banker, and Ginny decided to oversee the real estate cards after she realised just how easy a job that would be. Currently, George had scammed his brothers out of three properties, and somehow made rent almost $500 monopoly dollars more than the amount it was supposed to be. Hermione had bought out all the yellow and red properties, and when you bought the third blue-grey card from Ginny, it was then when Ron decided to pipe up.
“You can’t mortgage, that’s not a real word,” he said, huffing hard enough to make his longish red hair fly from out of his face.
“Er, Ron, a mortgage is a muggle thing, like this game is,” you reply. “and I’m doing it with this property,” you turn to Ginny, passing her the card back to go through with the action.
“It’s not,” he cried out, almost sounding aghast. “You’re cheating!”
George tidied his hotels on the dark blue properties, ignoring Ron. Charlie scratched at the stubble by the corner of his mouth, counting his muggle monopoly money nervously. Hermione glanced to you, almost waiting for the pin to drop for her to lay into him.
But you didn’t give her a signal.
“Okay wizard -,” you narrow your eyes, “go on and lecture the muggle-born on muggle things,” you retort.
You’re beginning to feel hot under the collar as the rising anger that comes to warm your face with a tinge of fury. You look at the card of The Angel Islington card that you had in your hands and tossed it into the centre of the board along with the free parking money that’s mostly Charlie’s.
“________, don’t -,” Harry starts to say.
You round on him too, feeling the anger monster stirring at him too. “You prats keep playing.” You get up, and march out of the room, only turning to say, looking into Ron’s eyes, “Screw you.”
---
Mrs Weasley didn’t understand just why you were volunteering with helping cook lunch, but it helped to be away from Ron while your anger simmered. You? Cheat? Hardly! You’d been playing that game for years before you even knew about Hogwarts and all the other wizarding games. If it wasn’t you who knew it best, you’d wager that Hermione knew it like the back of her hand too. Halfway through peeling the potatoes by hand - yes, you were that angry - Ginny joined you, rolling her sleeves up.
“Just so you know, I’ve got the balls in the family. But what you did?” she grinned, digging her elbow into your ribs playfully. “Legendary.”
After lunch, you decided to take your portion outside, sitting with your knees to your chest and lunch eaten. A few gnomes from the garden took the leftovers from your plate, and you didn’t mind at all. Nobody joined you, and you were glad. When you heard the back door open, you walked off, not bothering to check who it was before grabbing the Shooting Star from beside the house and flying away from confrontation.
Who knew that taking time away from getting into trouble at Hogwarts would lead to making more trouble out of it?
---
The next morning, you woke up in Ron’s room.
Unless someone levitated you into his bed in the middle of the night, you were sure that non-magically, you fell asleep in the Burrow’s lounge room the night previous. There was enough decorative pillows on the older couch to keep you comfortable, and Fred had donated one of his blankets to you so you wouldn’t freeze; he hadn’t been a part of the mess, and after checking the blanket wasn’t jinxed in anyway, you accepted it gratefully.
Except, you weren’t on the couch. You were under the blanket’s in Ron’s room, and beside you, he slept on, the touch of sunlight that broke through the gap in the blinds filtering across his face. Sleeping, he looked so sweet; his hair fell over his eyes, freckles vibrant after the latest season of Quidditch. You realised after he shifted that his arms were around you, and your hands were tucked against his chest. Under your fingertips, you could almost hear the thumping of his heartbeat, as if he was a puppy, and the beat was a tail wagging in earnest.
Whatever he was dreaming of, it was something pleasant.
“…how?” you whispered. Your voice was so soft, it was barely even spoken.
You tried to shift from the embrace, feeling the anger coursing your veins from the day previous once again. But no matter if you could apparate or not from your boyfriend’s bed, you were so entangled that it was impossible. It was either your movement, or because you’d spoken, but Ron stirred, and you met his eyes with your own.
“’morning,” he said.
Despite the anger, your heart beat a little faster at his words. “How did I -,”
Ron shifted, the blankets falling from his chest. Even though sometimes you’d sneak into the Gryffindor boy’s dormitories when Filch and Mrs Norris weren’t so attentive, it still made you like a heart struck first year every time you inadvertently see Ron without his shirt. In the moment you were still, Ron scooched closer, his blanket-warmed body scooping into your side, spooning you. Ever since his last growth spurt, he had no clue how to use all his limbs, but for once, they worked in unison, holding you close.
“You’re right, I was a prat,” Ron started to say, voice low, apologetic. “and I deserved to be screwed over. I really don’t know much about muggle things,” he said.
“Is this an apology?” you asked him.
Ron nodded, a sad look on his face. “Yeah. It sucked so bad after you left. Hermione made me read a book on muggle laws or something and the twins gave me shit for talking to you like that.” He swallowed, and, a beat passed, before he said, “I’m sorry I accused you of cheating.”
You huff, slightly less worked up. “Thank you,” you whisper, and moving in the embrace, you place your head against his chest. “…it wasn’t just them which made you do this, yeah?” you asked Ron, looking up into his eyes.
He paused before answering you. His face flushed crimson, easily done with his pale skin. “I…I missed you,” he started to say. “I couldn’t sleep, and…I carried you up.”
You reached up and pecked him upon the lips. “You’re such a prat,” you laughed softly, cradling his face in your hands.
“Yeah…” he agreed. “But I’m your prat.”

♩  —  𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘'𝐃 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐃 & 𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐔𝐓, oliver got a job as a stockbroker, whereas isabella was a waitress in a diner in their town. the hours were fairly flexible  &  allowed her to spend as much time as possible with her son. whenever he wasn’t with his parents, he was with his maternal grandparents. he grew to become very close with them  &  have a strong sense of family.
♩  —  𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐍 avid lover of classic rock, especially fleetwood mac,  &  would be the one to instill a deep love of music within her son. from an early age, he always expressed a keen interest in all things music,  &  have a natural ear. they purchased him his first piano at the age of seven  &  paid for two years of professional lessons.
♩  —  𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐀𝐓 the age of ten when oliver fell sick. these days, you don’t think of young people  --  the picture of perfect health  --  to get cancer.  the doctors said he had a good prognosis, they caught it early  &  he should be fine. but doctors aren’t fortune tellers,  &  it’s better not to place all your faith in should’s. the amount of strength  &  courage he witnessed in his father in those two years the cancer drained him was far more strength than any superhero in the stories.
♩  —  𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐈𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒𝐍'𝐓 only his father who displayed a largely admirable strength  --  it was also his mother. after he passed, isabella’s parents began to stay with them at the house. there was a copious amount of bills that needed to be paid  &  the waitressing job wasn’t enough to keep up. oliver’s parents eventually donated a sum of money to the family after witnessing their struggles  &  some parents at eli’s school also started up a fundraiser for them. isabella found this humiliating but was at her wit’s end.
♩  —  𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐀𝐆𝐄 of eleven, he began teaching piano lessons to some of the neighbor’s children. not a large sum of money, but it was better than nothing. he amassed a tiny sum of money for himself to rely less on his mother. by the age of thirteen, he was being heavily encouraged by isabella to begin boarding school at marble hill preparatory. she had faith in him  --  that he could be something bigger than her. she wanted him to give him an opportunity to truly be something great. she believed wholeheartedly that: if anyone could do it, it was him. she’d been referring to him as  ‘ mini mozart ‘  since he was five.
♩  —  𝐎𝐅 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐄  --  they’d never be able to afford marble hill preparatory on their own funds. eli had always gone above  &  beyond, excelling at school. there was only one b on his report card in all his years of schooling. he manged to get a full scholarship to mhp by his grades  &  a paper he had written on his father. it was difficult for him to leave his mother, but he was content in knowing this was what she wanted for him. they’d set arrangements that they would call one another as much as possible, as well as write to each other  &  for him to send her videos of him playing piano.
♩  —  𝐒𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐒 & 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐂 were his priority in high school. he was always a quiet  &  shy individual, who lost himself in music. however it grew apparent in his freshman year that he had problems beyond  ‘ just being shy ‘  &  began seeing a counselor outside of mhp who diagnosed him with social anxiety. his therapist was his main support system during this time. it was quite lonely living so far from his family, but he did manage to make a few close friends during his time at marble hill preparatory. he had difficulties in making the friends that he did.
♩  —  𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐇𝐈𝐒 first kiss at the age of twelve with one of the girls in his neighborhood who was one of his only friends. she told him that he was cute  &  requested that he be the first girl that he kissed. this is the only interaction that he has had with the opposite sex. he had crushes on girls in high school,  &  one short - lived relationship, but he never actually lost his virginity.
♩  —  𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 get accepted into hatchett on a full scholarship not only because of his stellar grades, but because he composed his own sonata for the piano  &  then played it. he was began composing  &  writing his own music in high school. he was self-taught for the most part, due to his low income,  &  learned through music theory books from the library as well as youtube. due to his affinity for music, he picked everything up very quickly.
♩  —  𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐃𝐀𝐘, he has not outgrown his quiet demeanor  (  though it has vastly improved  )  &  his friendship circle is quite small. he struggles in creating any sort of relationship with others. being a performer is difficult due to his social anxiety, but because it is something he deeply desires for himself  &  his mother  --  he has put a large amount of time  &  effort into becoming a better performer. it used to be an impossible task but has improved largely since he began at hatchett.
♩  —  ( 𝐒𝐔𝐁 - 𝐏𝐋𝐎𝐓 : 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐓 ) : he has had his fair share of short-term jobs, but the longest one he has ever had was at SUNDAE BEST. he got along well with his boss  &  coworkers,  &  it was even helping him to come out of his shell. he was more than devastated when he eventually lost his job. he swore up  &  down that he was innocent  ------  &  he was  ------  but he was still fired. that was one of the most strenuous times,  &  it was humiliating to phone his mother to tell her he’d been fired. luckily, she helped him cover the costs of everything short-term,  &  he managed to find another job within a month  &  a half.
𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒.   —
♩  —  𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐒 ( 𝟎 / 𝟑 ) : he graduated from marble hill preparatory,  &  he didn’t have too many friends during his time there, but these were close friends in high school  &  hopefully still keep in contact at hatchett.
♩  —   𝐁𝐀𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐋𝐔𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 : he is extremely innocent  &  this person would corrupt him.
♩  —   𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐋𝐔𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 : he brings out hidden positive traits of the other  &  some of his positive characteristics rub off on them.
♩  —   𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐓 : a mutual friendship where they both have a deep trust  &  often go to one another for advice.
♩  —   𝐔𝐍𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃 : someone who is a complete opposite to him that somehow still gets along with him.
♩  —   𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐃 : someone who takes him under their wing.
♩  —   𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐒 : people who pick on him for various reasons.
♩  —   𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐋𝐎𝐓 : if there is are any plots that are not listed here that you can think of, come  &  message me so we can talk about it !!

(I know it’s a bit early but since no ficlet this week cause I can’t manage my time >< here you go!)
This new life was just too good.
Too good...
Mic knows all good things come to an end.
                                                        Chapter 18
“Mind if we take a little detour?” the blonde asked Emi.
“Well since I’m not U.A bound, I guess,” she grinned. “What for?”
“Just wanted to pick the kids up something...like a snack.”
“Oh! Ice cream! It’s really humid and hot!”
“Hmmmm Girly and Shining Boy are lactose intolerant...and so am I,” Mic thought for a moment. “Though popsicles could be good.”
“Dude, you’re lactose intolerant!? You poor thing!”
Mic shrugged. “It’s not that bad.”
“If I couldn’t eat my mocha ice cream it’d be...udder chaos.”
The blonde choked as hands clamped over his mouth as he laughed.
--
Emi watched as the blonde meticulously looked at the back of several cartons of popsicles. “I don’t think any of those have milk in them.”
“Checking for artificial sweeteners,” Mic explained as he looked over to her. “ ‘parently they can fuck with Sugar Rush’s Quirk.”
The outburst hero giggled some. How sweet! He knew things like that about Shouta’s kids. The other hero managed to reel in a keeper.
“These should do,” Mic grinned.
“To the check-out!” Emi announced as she struck a dramatic pose, enjoying that the blonde seemed to have found it amusing. She might hurt Shouta if he left this guy, he WILLING laughs at her antics.
“So you do you just do volunteer work for that, ah Purrs and Paws place?”
Mic looked to her. “Hm? Ah nah, I help at Wings of Refuge, Open Doors Open Hearts, and Empty Shelves as well. I also pop in and out minor events too, like the health and support show, Board Walk of Life and such.”
Emi grinned. People like Mic are true heroes. Giving their all, and helping those that sadly heroes just can’t get to. She asked minor questions here and there as the approached the register; how long he’s been doing volunteer work, any interesting stories, things of those matters.
The blonde eagerly answered. It was so...refreshing to have somebody actually asking about these things. As if they wanted to know more about him for what he does as Yamada and not as Mic.  It was… a nice change.
When Mic set down the packages of popsicles he could already feel a wave a of discomfort. A young man was in front of them. Possibly earlier twenties at the oldest, with a little girl in his cart. Looking at the total displayed on the screen and back to the items he had at the counter. The blonde watched as little by little he moved things off to the side in hopes of bringing the total down.
Glancing past him, he saw that the little girl, who was being a lot quieter than what would have been expected. Green eyes widened some, as he took in the little girls flushed face and she was wrapped in two sweaters.
His eyes darted back to the register and saw the pile of items still being pushed aside. “How short is he? For all of it?”
The young man, cashier, and even Emi looked to him.
“A-about 1900 yen,” the cashier stated.
Mic looked to the young man who pulled up his hood on his sweater, in attempt to hide his face...the blonde bit his lip. They man was feeling, ashamed…”I got this.”
“No wait-you don’t--”
Mic held up his hand and gave a smile to the young man. “It’s alright, just, pass the good deed along...alright?”
The young man looked to him and nodded. Mic could see the wetness gathering in his eyes.
The cashier smiled and nodded.
Emi sighed  happily. Yep, it was official. If Shouta left him, Emi would probably take Mic in exchange then.
The man thanked Mic as he headed out of the store. Mic couldn’t help but to keep smiling as he stepped up next.
“You know that was probably just a scam,” a voice asked from behind.
Mic blinked, smile falling as he looked back. An older woman, well ok maybe she was about in her thirties as well but still. She was, decently dress, and had an arfull of items, and an annoyed look on her face. “E-exsqueeze me?” Mic asked.
“You probably just got scammed out of 2000 yen,” she stated.
Oh….oh! Heaven FORBID some poeple struggle, Mic inwardwadrly thought. OF COURSE people would just scam others for juice, crackers, and veggie mix. SURE!How could he have been so--
“AHAAH!!! Good one!” Emi was holding her stomach as she laughed. As she straightened herself up she looked to the woman...and blinked. “W-wait...you’re serious? You’re, ACTUALLY, being serious?”
The tone the outburst hero was using was enough to make the other woman flush and shift her stance slightly embarrassed. And Emi just kept staring at her, as Mic proceeded with his order. The longer Emi stared the deeper the flush grew; until the woman muttered a quick ‘excuse me’ and rushed back into one of the aisles.
“Let’s go,” Mic said in a tight voice.
The green haired woman nodded as they went out. She was a bit concerned for Mic...it almost felt like was was holdin--
As soon as they were out and around the corner Mic laughed. Laughed so loud Emi thought she could feel the ground shake as he curled forward arms wrapping around himself.
“Holy shit! AHahahhhha-h-holy--ehehehaha shit!” Mic tried to speak through his laughing, he could even feel his eyes watering. “T-that was--ahahah--that was fucking amazing!” He looked to her and grinned. “She was so embarrassed! I swear she was seconds from just, ehehahha, bursting into flames!”
Emi was laughing with him before she realized it. “I-it was, ahahaha, so stupid though! I thought--ahahahah, I though she HAD to of been joking!”
Mic nodded as his laughter finally died down to snickering and he stood up. He looked to Emi who was wiping a tear from her eye. He extended a hand to her. “Yamada.”
“Ah, what?” She looked at him confused.
“Just...call me Yamada, Mic is...ah--”
“Oh! OK!” she grinned and took his hand and shook. “Yamada it is!”
Mic grinned. “Thanks for this LaughRiot.”
“LaughRiot?”
The blonde smiled. “I give nicknames to people I like.”
Emi blinked before she grinned. “I like it!”
--
Mic waved as Emi headed off after she dropped him off at the dorms. Had to admit, he kinda felt bad for judging her so fast. She was actually are really good person. He sighed as headed in. As he made his way to the kitchen area, he saw gathered in the opened common area most of the kids.
Some studying, some watching tv, some playing a card game. Even some of the 1-B kids were there too, and that one GenEd student as well.
“Yama-san!” Uraraka looked up from her book. “Everything alright? You said there was an emergency.”
Mic smiled. “Everything’s good now, special guest at the shelter,” he explained as he pulled out one of the boxes from the bag and opened them.
“Special guest--oh!” Uraraka asked and jumped a bit as he tossed her a popsicle. “Ah! Thank you Yama-san!”
“Yeah, heard about the break in at the at Open View?”
“Ah yeah it was playing all morning, Midoriya nodded and caught a popsicle tossed his way.
Mic nodded, as he continued handing out the treats. “Turns out there was an otter that was lost, or stuck somewhere, and he needed to be held up somewhere.”
Uraraka and Ashido’s eyes widened and sparkled some. “YOU GOT TO PLAY WITH AN OTTER!?”
The blonde laughed. “Not really play, more like babysit...and teach the little brat how to swim...oi PunchGirl, SteelBoy, heads up.” He tossed a popsicle to Kendo and TetsuTetsu.
“Thanks Yama-san!” TetsuTetsu grinned.
“Thank-you so much!”
“Still!” Ashido grinned. “That sounds like it was so much fun!”
Mic chuckled. “Guess it kinda was... yo MindMelt, think fast,” he answered and tossed a popsicle to Shinso, who caught it. He headed into the kitchen to put the extras away before he grabbed himself one and headed back out.
On the TV a breaking story about Shionama played and Mic couldn’t hold back his scowl. Though that almost dropped instantly when he saw that the man was under investigation.
“For fucks sake finally,” Mic huffed as he leaned over the back of the couch.
“Ah, you don’t like Shionama-san?” Midoriya asked.
“The guys a fucking snake,” Mic huffed, not noticing Uraraka was pouting, and nodding in agreement with him.
“But he’s one of the highest donors to several of the largest charities in the city with the events he put on,” Tenya stated. “Not to mention he helped with the housing issues in the center of the city.”
The blonde scoffed. “Please, those high donations? Wanna know how much of those donations from those events ACTUALLY go to the charity?”
“What?! You mean it doesn’t all go!?” Kaminari asked.
“2%,” Mic snorted. “Two fucking percent goes.”
“...which means that less than 19000 yen, according to the numbers of the last event at least,” Shinso stated under his breath.  “If you wanna example, I mean.”
“That’s awful!” Kendo stated.
“Way unmanly!” Kirishima agreed.
“Where the fuck does the other 98% goes then!?” Bakugou asked, taking everyone aback. It’s not like the two blondes didn’t get along...but it was the first time anyone seen the explosion user actually respond to the voice user.
“The hell do you think? His pocket to pay for the ‘expenses’ for putting on said events,” Mic stated.
“That’s bullshit,” the explosion used huffed and chomped a large piece of the popsicle off its stick.
“And those low income housings?” Mic continued. “Fucking...MY place had better upkeep. Shit, yeah sure, some areas were bad, and didn’t look pretty but at least all the windows actually fucking opened and I didn’t have to worry about exposed wires.”
“He also doesn’t pay his construction people fully,” Uraraka huffed.
The blonde blinked and looked down.
“Uraraka-san?” Midoriya frowned.
“Uraraka-kun!” Tenya exclaimed.
“He...he pays part of it, upfront like he should…” she frowned. “B-but then, when it comes to paying the second part when they’re all done…” she trailed off. Not needing to finish.
“Tch...as if I needed another reason to hate the fucker,” Mic grumbled.
It was silent, as the news played one.
“...so…” it was Bakugou who broke it. “You fucked with him before?”
Mic couldn’t stop the grin. “Hell yeah I did...drained his account three fucking times.”
“B-but that’s stealing!” Tenya stated.
“Relax Glasses, I drain it after an event.”
“That’s worse!”
“No it ain’t,” he huffed and looked at the engine user. “I make it as an anonymous donation to the actual fucking charity.”
Midoriya was muttering to himself. “They probably think it’s from Shionama-san still, since it seems that if they know his account is regularly hack, it would make sense to have it be done through another party. Probably don’t bother to look into where it’s being donated from...then again Yama-san more than likely covers his tracks so he can’t be traced...but if that’s the case it’s what makes Shionama-san look better than he is. But Shionama-san knows something going on but can’t denying it, and if that’s the case--”
Mic just stared at the boy. “Uhhh Mini-Might, yer doin’ that thing again.”
Midoriya jumped and looked around to see everyone staring at him. “I..ah...um…”
The blonde snickered a bit. “Well that would explain why people would still think this asshole is as great as he is,” Mic sighed. “Fuck, I shoulda thought of that in the first place.”
“Next time make it from U.A,” Shinso stated as he finished his popsicle.
Mic blinked before grinned. “ I FUCKING SHOULD!”
The kids laughed--
Then a clatter had them all jump, as the mood shifted form light…
To something on edge and tense.
Mic risked looking over his shoulder...eyes catching the faint wisps of what looked to be black smoke just outside the widow.
--
How the hell…
“You’ve been a thorn in our sides…” that voice said.
How the HELL?
“You should have been dealt with back during the first attempt.”
HOW THE ABSOLUTE HELL!?
Mic ran down through the hall, urging the kids to try and find their own ways to safety. Find a teacher on duty--anything!
HOW THE FUCK DID THE LEAGUE OF VILLAINS GET IN HERE!?
“Yama-san!”
“Creation-girl?”
She waved for him to join her in a supply closest. Quickly he ducked in. When he caught his breath he was able to take in account who were all in there. Yaoyorozu, Uraraka, Tenya, Midoriya, and Todoroki.
Heavy footsteps rushed down the halls. “I saw him run this way!”
Him? So was it just him they were after, Mic thought to himself.
“What are we going to do?” the creation user asked.
“You five are going to get somewhere safe,” Mic stated with as much authority as he could muster in his voice.
“B-but Yama-san!” Uraraka cried.
“Grily, no…”
They all froze when they heard footsteps outside. “Shit where did he go!?”
“He can’t disappear!”
“Fucking find him!”
“We need something to distract them,” Tenya whispered.
“Flash Bombs,” Mic answered.
“Flash Bombs?” Uraraka repeated.
Mic nodded. “Should be enough to disorient them, and let us slip out…” he looked to the kids. “I need you to promise that you five will run away from me.”
“But, Yama-san,” Midoriya started.
“I mean it...this is serious. Don’t follow.”
They were all quiet...until Yaoyorozu spoke up. “Allow me to help.”
“Think you can make ‘em?”
Yaoyorozu nodded. “I know I can.”
“You sure that you want to do this?” Tenya asked.
“...it’s me they want. Not you.”
“Yama-san,” Uraraka whispered.
“I’ll be fine...I promise.”
--
This was bad. This was really REALLY bad. The supply closet door shut as quietly as possible. There were several villains gathered just outside. Midoriya looked over to Mic. Yaoyorozu was finishing up making the last of the Flash Bombs he requested.
“Promise me,” the blonde began. “You WON’T follow.”
Midoriya bit his lip. H-he knew he had to listen to him. But...but it felt wrong. It felt like, they were just going to leave him behind. It felt like Kaachan all over again!
“Mini-Might,” Mic called.
“I…I…”
“...please kid. Just...just do this for me.”
He hesitated, and swallowed. “I...yes.”
Mic smiled some. “Thank you.”
They all took a steadying breath and prepared themselves. Mic nodded to Tenya, and the door was kicked open.
The villains all whipped their heads to the sound.
“Suprise mother fuckers!” Mic shouted and all the Flash Bombs were thrown in. The light was blinding. Mic laughed as he rushed out of the dorms, and as he hoped the villains trailed after.
They were after him.
They only WANTED him.
He ran to the school building. He had to think, had to come up with something. Lotsa room,s lotsa of floors. He had to keep on his toes. Just weave in and out. He knows he wouldn’t be able to loose them but he could at least slow them down.
Leaping down and rushing up stairwells we’re putting a toll on his body. He only had so much energy. Focus...focus...focus…
Keep calm. Keep--
“Fuck!” Mic caught himself on a slightly upturned tile. Mind too busy thinking on how to evade, he was unable to catch himself properly.
And footsteps were approaching faster.
Shit shit shit!
“I found him!”
Then there was a deafening sound...of a gun being fired.
“What the absolute fuck!?” Mic yelled and could just stare from his spot on the ground.
“Git up and git goin,” the homing hero said. “I’ll hold’em off,” Snipe insisted.
“But you--”
“Still don’t like ya...but, I’m not letting this go down like that again, alright? Now git!”
He wanted to argue but he decided against it. Without a second look back he ran off. He vaulted over the guard railing to the ground below. Tumbling to break his fall as he continued on his way, the villains following behind.
Shit shit fuck fuck! They’re REALLY after him. He was screwed!
The feeling of something wrapping around him had Mic freeze. It...it almost felt fami--
He didn’t get a chance to finish his thought because he suddenly felt himself getting pulled off his feet and thrown in the air.
Eraser! Aizawa!
He couldn’t help the laugh that left him.
His hero.
His hero...saved him.
When he felt those tight bonds release him while still airborne he twisted himself and landed. Alright, it was time to get--
“Careful now Mic,” that calm...childlike voice taunted. “We have eyes on you.”
There was a slight glint that caught Mic’s attention. Whipping his head to see what it was…
And all he could do, was just stare at the the lense that was pointed at him. Was it...was all this being broadcasted? What the hell?
“We have eyes on all of them, too,” Shigaraki said in that quiet calm voice. “They’re waiting...all you need to do is to come with us.”
Them? What? Who’s them?
“You seem to spend so much time at these places,” Mic scowled as he saw the young man scratch at his neck. The sound of it making his own skin crawl. “But do they know? About you I mean?”
Mic’s eyes widened. No…
“We could tell them...show them,” Shigaraki alluded. “Or...you come with us.”
“Yama-san! Don’t do it!”Kirishima yelled.
Purrs and Paws...Open Doors, Open Hearts...Empty Shelves? Fuck Wings of Refuge couldn’t take another hit. It could be a lie though. But could he risk it? And what about U.A? What about the kids here? Now? Some are terrified because of what happened before. He saw Kaminari, Sero and Ashido doing their damndest to make sure Bakugou wasn’t taken again. Kirishima and TestuTestu were trying to shield Tsuyu with their bodies…
The press? Fucking--if word got out that U.A was housing villain...letting a villain NEAR these kids--Fuck their doors would be shut so fast!
Aizawa...he...he couldn’t let his hero--His Aizawa take anymore blame than what he has already.
Mic bit his lip and sighed as he raised his hands over his head. Too much..too much was at risk. Too much at stake. Too much. Too much. “Fine….I’ll fucking go.”
--
“Yama-san!”
Shouta whipped around to the cry. He could...just only watch, as everything seemed to slow down, and his world narrow. It was like what happened at Wings of Refuge.  His entire focus shifted to the blonde.
Mic held up his hands and stepped closer to the villains.
Each step felt like an eternity to watch.
And Shouta...just couldn’t move.
His villain.
His...villain…
His…
Shouta finally moved but it was too late, the warp closed. And Mic…
Mic was gone.

Man of Letters
Stephen Meyers, City Lab, July 24, 2018
My fourth day delivering mail for the U.S. Postal Service, it snowed-one of those heavy, wet, spring-in-Colorado snows that knocks down tree branches and crushes newly-bloomed tulips. I was training with a veteran letter carrier on a walk-out route, the type where the carrier pushes a blue buggy full of mail and small packages. It’s a lot harder, I discovered, to push that thing through slush.
I schlepped my disheveled, wet self into downtown businesses where concerned secretaries took pity on me as I handed them their soaked mail.
Welcome to the Postal Service.
“Neither snow nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night ...” that’s how the saying goes right?
The rude welcome to the Postal Service quickly taught me mail delivery is no leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, dismantling the idyllic image of a smiling Mr. McFeeley handing out birthday cards in “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.” My first week on the job, I lost 5 pounds.
Being a mail carrier is hard.
I’d eventually get used to the physical rigors of the job and learn the rhythms, tricks and routines of delivering mail, but what surprised me the most over the next 15 months working on the front lines of this vast, imperfect, but essential big-government institution is how the Postal Service delivers much more than just letters, magazines and Amazon packages to a neighborhood.
I met elderly residents who lived alone and just wanted someone to talk to for a couple minutes a day. I saw how critical the Postal Service is for local businesses, like the one that ships dozens of Priority Mail boxes of custom-made zippers for wedding gowns across the country every day. I met strangers willing to donate grocery bags full of food during the long-running Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, which tallied 71.6 million pounds of found collected nationwide. I learned the value of a powerful union and experienced the most diverse workplace I’ve ever encountered. And most importantly, what I found while roving from house to house on foot was an intimate insight into my community and fellow Americans.
Like many who come to work for the Postal Service, I didn’t find my way into the USPS because I had a burning desire to deliver mail; I just needed a job. A laid-off journalist, I’d spent six months striking out on landing a writing gig and grew tired of the soul-sucking grind that is job searching. An old college friend was working happily delivering mail, and making more than I ever did in newspapering: The benefits are good, you don’t take the job home with you, and there’s lots of overtime if you want it.
And the USPS is nearly always hiring, especially in metro areas in advance of the holiday shopping season. Colorado’s Front Range, which includes Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins, is currently short more than 500 positions. The hiring process is long--I applied in mid-February and didn’t start until May--and includes two exams, a personality assessment, and the 473 Postal Exam, which tests your ability to check addresses for errors, accurately fill out forms, and memorize and recall lists of street addresses. I had to also pass a drug test (that’s the biggest hurdle to hiring in weed-legal Colorado, the Fort Collins Postmaster told me) and an exhaustive background check. Then it was off to city carrier academy, where veteran carriers taught my fellow classmates and me the tricks of organizing and carrying mail and how to drive the postal vehicles. We each got a navy blue USPS hat and T-shirt and were sent to our respective post offices to begin our postal careers; I was now a USPS employee, working as a city carrier assistant.
In the evenings I’d continue my search for a Plan B career after journalism, but for the other 8-to-10 hours a day (and up to 12 during holiday season) I’d deliver mail and packages to residents of Fort Collins, Colorado.
A lot of packages.
Receive an Instant Pot for Christmas? Yeah, so did your neighbor. My record was 18 delivered in one day--we saw that craze coming on well before Black Friday.
The old-timers at my office remember the days they’d deliver, five, maybe, 10 packages a day. Now it’s more like 50 or 60 a day, from 40-pound bags of dog food to furniture and food-in-a-box meal kits. The Postal Service wasn’t really built for the Amazon era: Our (badly outdated) vehicles don’t have enough space to house them, and few have shelves, leaving carriers to play an Amazon box-sized game of Jenga every day.
(Sidenote on those trucks, called LLVs, or Long Life Vehicles: Most are about 30 years old, with that many years of cigarette smoke soaked into the seats; they lack airbags or air conditioning, and the heaters are less than effective. The USPS is facing a major budget challenge because it needs to replace up to 180,000 of these elderly machines over the next several years, which is going to cost more than $6 billion.)
Every Sunday we’d fill our LLVs with 100 to 175 Amazon packages, thanks to USPS’ exclusive contract with the e-commerce giant--that’s the one that the president keeps objecting to, though it’s been a revenue source for the cash-strapped service. And, no fail, every Sunday, customers would ask why I was working and I’d jokingly (is it a joke, though?) tell them “Because Amazon is taking over the world.”
Other comments I’d hear almost every day:
“You bringing me a check today?”
“You can keep the bills.”
“This one better be a winner!” (I had no idea Publisher’s Clearing House was still a thing, but it is, especially in low-income and senior-living communities.)
“You staying cool out there?” (The answer is always “No, but I’m trying!”).
No one is ever upset to see their mail carrier, you know? This was so foreign to me, as a journalist who was used to being less warmly received. And while predictable and routine and mostly about the weather, I loved these little conversations with residents along my route.
When kids saw me driving around the corner, they’d drop their ballgame and race me down the sidewalk. Others were excited to see me because I was about to be a lucky customer at their lemonade stand. At the retirement home, residents greeted me every day at the wall of mailboxes; if I’d show up five minutes early or five minutes late, they’d jokingly let me have it. “You know, Sue is usually here by 3:30!”
Residents learned my name, and more importantly I learned the intricacies of their neighborhoods. A fellow carrier, a Fort Collins native and Mexican American, proudly showed me his home that’s part of the historically Hispanic neighborhood that I had never taken the time to properly explore and experience on foot. I learned from longtime residents how they felt about the gentrification happening in pockets of Fort Collins. This booming college town has outgrown its farming and ranching roots and is transforming into a progressive tech hub, known for its breweries and affinity for bike lanes, coffee shops, and high-priced boutiques.
Delivering the mail gives you a granular insight into America’s growing cultural, political, and wealth divide. North of town, there’s a senior-living mobile home community sitting in the shadow of newly-built eco-friendly condos that sell for half a million dollars. Residents at the condos subscribe to The Atlantic and New Yorker; residents in the trailer park a few hundred feet away get People and National Enquirer.
After several months, the rhythms of carrying mail became second nature; I’d successfully carried nearly every one of the office’s 50 routes around the city. I also became familiar with the downsides of the job. As one might expect at a financially beleaguered organization that’s been losing money for more than a decade, office morale was often low: Nearly every week, there’d be a shouting match between carriers complaining about mail arriving late to the office, thus delaying and extending their day, and management only shrugging their shoulders and saying that’s an issue out of their control. Clerks, whose duties include working the front desk helping customers and sorting mail and packages (sometimes overnight), were brutally overworked, often clocking 60- to 70-hour weeks. Many of my coworkers felt trapped: Sure, the job sucked sometimes, but where else can you find a secure job that pays as well?
It was my relationships with fellow carriers and clerks--a diverse group, from first-generation Americans to military veterans--that made the job bearable most days. But once I landed a long-sought communications gig, I made the decision to move on from the USPS.
After I shared my Postal Service experience in a thread on Twitter that went semi-viral, I received dozens of comments from readers who shared their nostalgia and affection for this beloved and embattled American institution. One told me about a mail carrier who heard a smoke alarm going off in an empty house and alerted a neighbor. Others were children of postal workers, grateful for the livelihoods that the jobs provided. “Both my parents retired from the post office,” one reader told me. “My mom started when she was just 19 years old. It’s not what it used to be…. They work the new folks into the ground, so I hear. I try to tip my carrier well for dealing with the BS.”
The response made me even more proud of my time wearing the blue uniform; I’m more deeply connected to my community and have a better understanding of my fellow Americans. From now on, I’ll tip my mail carrier well. You should, too.
