Life of the Pride Cast – AJ's Origins

You can’t make a trio until you have a duo.  Our second member to join the local pride is Alexios-Jidalgo Ruiz.  Quite the mouthful, so feel free to call him AJ.

The son of two Cuban-American lions, AJ was the first of six children born in St. Petersburg, Florida.  AJ’s status as a single child only lasted for three years.  Soon enough, he was an older brother before he even started kindergarten.  As he grew, so did his family and the responsibilities of being an eldest sibling along with it.  By the age of 11, he had five other siblings to help his parents take care of.  

Like any other preteen getting to grips with their sense of self and hormones, AJ began to realize something about himself.  He had no interest in the opposite sex.  Those interests were firmly set with other guys.  “I’m gay,” he realized.  However, this moment of self-discovery coincided with a major life event.  Outside of his young point of view, AJ’s parents, Carmila and Jaime, were experiencing a decline in their marriage.  And as tensions rose between the two, AJ would come out to them one solemn night.  Both fell silent as he delivered his revelation.  That silence was broken by Jaime leaving the house, not returning until the next morning.  AJ was broken.  His mother offered the only solace she could by holding him in her arms and promising she’ll be there for him.

A month after his coming out, his parents had divorced.  It was a long time coming, but to AJ, it felt like his world collapsing all at once.  And the seeming spontaneity of it gave a young AJ the impression his coming out was the catalyst.  Carmila assured him that wasn’t the cause, but a young mind will make connections.  Following this, AJ would scarcely see his father.  Quite honestly, he preferred it.

From seventh to eleventh grade, AJ played second role model to his five younger siblings.  With his mother working two jobs, the pressure was on an adolescent AJ.  Now, he loved his siblings as much as any older brother could… but they were a handful his young paws couldn’t handle.  Any free time he managed to scrape up would fizzle away to tend to his brothers and sisters.  With the stress of school and family care, it was a miracle he held on to a B average.

There was relief in his last year of high school.  Carmila’s brother, Raymond, came back from an extended family visit in Sandino.  Hearing her plight, he decided to stay with her and help out his nieces and nephews.  Raymond quickly became AJ’s favorite uncle.  Even if it was senior year with less than a semester left, he could finally get in a little bit of time to himself.  Raymond picked up a job too, letting his sister leave one job behind and have more time for her kids.  For AJ, this gave him a massive amount of relief for his last year of school.  

After graduation, he was able to attend a respected community college and receive his associates degree.  Tertiary education gave him far more time for recreation, the likes of which he hasn’t had since early childhood.  He made new friends, saw new sights, and learned things about the world I never knew.  But it was a fleeting moment.  After graduating with a Bachelor’s, the friends he met moved on, using their degrees to get jobs across the country.  He remained the only one in his group to stay in Florida.  And even though he kept contact through text and phone calls, it wasn’t the same.  Between graduation and the age of 30, he held down a good but uneventful job.  He moved into an apartment with two roommates he knew very little about -- cordial yet no sense of friendship.  

Thirty and nothing going on.  A complete reversal of the eventful life he had in college.  He wanted that back.  He needed that back.  Luck was in his lane when he met someone online at the age of 29.  This friend, whom he would know by the name of Benny, would propose an idea: AJ, Benny, and another friend of Benny’s should move in together.  AJ scrounged up the money for rent and a ticket to Texas where Benny lived.  He took a few weeks to get a job in the local area and had to stay with Benny and his uncle during that.  But soon enough, the third roommate would arrive.  AJ was introduced to a tall, somewhat broody lion named Isa.

Once the three moved in to their quaint house in Juniper Bole, something in AJ awakened.  Now in a new town with new friends, he wanted to re-engage with the go-getter lifestyle he had in his college years.  At thirty-two years of age, he wanted to reignite that flame with his two friends in tow.  Would his attempts to carpe each diem lead to embarrassment or a life worth living?  Just how far can he bring Benny and Isa into his mad-capped schemes?

his name is daniel "danny" estrada, and he's the estranged paternal uncle to elena ruiz, aka aisling's foster daughter.

he basically gets kicked out of the family for trying to stop his brother, miguel, from continuing into a shady business deal with james palmer, aka the financial genius responsible for funding and financing the company of v. he attempted to call in interpol and arranged for a deal that would keep his brother safe while causing unfathomable damage to the company of v, but his sister-in-law, lana, betrayed him with miguel, leading him to go on the run from the company after leaving behind a small envelope of money and intel in little elena's bedroom.

ten years passed. elena's sixteenth birthday drew near. danny had been unexpectedly helped in his survival; in fact, an anonymous friend left him a key to a safehouse in wyoming, where he kept himself safe, sane, and off the beaten track. he even changed his last name. danny ruiz was no more. estrada, the surname of his first and most beloved babysitter, became his new title. and on the eve of elena's birthday, danny estrada became the first to learn that she was after calling up interpol herself. no deal. no negotiation. no strategy to protect her parents from the consequences of their greedy, loveless motives. she sold them out in a phone call that lasted 1 minute, 7 seconds.

but ten years was a long time. and even though the company was gone underground, and his brother and his brother's wife were both locked up for consecutive life sentences, danny was reluctant to return. it wasn't until he realized elena was being taken in by a foster mother in manhattan, that danny decided to set out and find her.

since arriving in manhattan, danny has found work at stanley's diner. he has also made the decision for elena that she doesn't need to know who he is. that, as of now, she has a chance to leave the batshit insanity of her old life behind her, and start a NEW batshit insanity with aisling and the kids. aisling knows who he is. he knows she knows. but that's all. they never discuss it. aisling figures he's able to deal with the ramifications if it goes sideways.

danny is ultimately a dad without kids. but that doesn't mean he's necessarily a good one. his self-sacrificing tendencies cloud his ability to see if others can do anything for themselves, he flat-out refuses to let anyone help him or talk about his feelings. stanley and richard basically insisted that he go to therapy, but it lasted twelve minutes before he stormed out. danny is a good man, but he suffers from the burden of responsibility that many eldest siblings do, and this weight means that he's almost desperate to remain a one-man-island until his final days. unfortunately for him, he decided to work at stanley's diner.

ok so like, lets get one thing clear: benny may be cute but his doggos nando and issy are far, far cuter than him, and they should really be the ones getting the attention. if you need like a single reason to plot with benny, it should 100% be in regards to wanting to give pets to his kids, well, the animal kids he’s aware of anyways. dog park hookups be all the rage in rye, mkay?

but no here’s the thing, benny is a super sweet bro. he’s a mix of so many different things, and honestly the fact that he named his dogs after not only two 80′s movie powerhouse fictional characters, but also catholic monarchs from the 14th century who united spain is just. it’s pure benny ass bullshit. he’s sweet and charming but not afraid to stand up for whats right and protect his loved ones. he actively tries to better his community in any which way, from frequenting soup kitchens on the reg to checking on some regular kids at the st. mawes boys and girls club. he’s almost annoyingly perfect, but has a few quirks that make him just a smidge bit offputting.

born to a super intenesley close family, benny is the eldest of four siblings, and was meant to be their rock. he wasn’t the smartest, or the most cunning, but he was always just so damn dependable. he kept his word, until he just couldn’t anymore. his parents were two selfless hippies trying to raise a gangle of children in eastleigh, and when benny turned 18 he just, had no direction, no aim. and against his families wishes, he enrolled in the navy. he’d always loved the sea, and felt like this was his big chance to see something - but because of the tensions in his family, he just stopped communicating. he didn’t return for a few years until word got out that his mother was sick, and he was on the fastest route back to st. mawes. 

it’s been years since her death, but it’s always hit benny hard that he could have been here sooner - that he should have been. anyways, it’s left him a bit fucked, and with that and the fact that he could never imagine a love as great as his parents, bennys like a huge commitment-phobe. like straight up his longest relationship was maybe 11 months? in high school? it’s a bit sad. whats sadder he’s about to find out that that one relationship lead him to having a now 21 year old daughter (raci ruiz). fun ass shit. also fun? he’s the bassist in a dadband, a bunch of other 30 and 40 year old dudes who get together to rock it, and mostly turn today’s pop hits into 90s grunge rock. he’s a blast ok?

Nicolás was born in Valencia, Spain to two loving parents that worked steady jobs. His parents were by no means rich but nor were they poor. He is the eldest sibling of four, his two sisters came after him at two years apart and then came his younger brother. When he was six his parents moved them to El Centro, California where they still live. He grew up in an era where drugs had become heavily popular and knew that he didn’t want to fall victim to that lifestyle, despite many people trying to get him into the life. He instead he found a love for boxing in high school and found it a good way to keep himself busy and away from bad company. It was at an old beat down boxing gym that his talent had been noticed and he began making a name and climbing the rankings as a boxer, going to to win as a golden gloves champion for four years running. He had one fight before what would be fifth appearance in the golden gloves but as bad luck would have it the fight had been rigged and he not only lost but suffered serious injuries. His family became extremely worried as they helped him through his recovery and he decided a change of profession was due, pursuing one with the DEA, remembering some of the things he’d witnessed growing up and decided he wanted to make a difference.

Steering Away From Negative Emotions

From a young girl, I was always the glue in my family and the ray of light. I am the youngest daughter, and the most "successful" child in my family. I am the only one of four children who graduated high school on time, who graduated college, I paid for my own schooling, paid for my driving lessons, got myself a car, I pay for my cellphone bill, my bus pass, pretty much everything. I'm also the most independent emotionally I would say. My other siblings all depend relatively a lot on their parents. MY brother who will be 30 years old in august and who just had a baby, relies heavily on my mother to help him when he gets himself into trouble and hits rock bottom. He has sold drugs in the past, has owed thousands of dollars to loan sharks etc. My mother protects him to the DEATH of her. My eldest sister who is also 30, has a lot of emotional issues and fills her void by having intimate relationships with every man she encounters. She never keeps a job, has money issues, smokes a LOT of weed and refuses to help herself. She has had many "episodes" which have lead her into the hospital, required her to take pills, but she refuses to help herself. Gets put into a group therapy program, and she rarely goes. My other sister who will be 24 in June, is the most difficult to deal with. I've lived all my life in the same house as her whereas my brother and other sister have moved in and out. 

In my first post, I explain the complicated relationships in my family (some of my siblings have different parents than I do). My sister who is 24 years old, has the same mother and father as I do, is the main factor in my hardships this last year. She is three and a half years older than me and I feel like she is just a child. From young she has really sucked all of my energy out of me, constantly wanting to play, constantly wanting my attention, constantly throwing tantrums when she does not get her way, causing havoc if one thing does not go the way SHE wants it to go. My family allows her to get away with everything because they pity her & do not want to hear her scream if she is unhappy.  She is a very insecure person who has an extremely hard time breaking out of her shell and escaping her comfort zone, so they just give her everything and the pattern continues.  

Last year, I had enough of her attitude, of her neediness and of her negativity. My mother was also a big cause of stress and nuisance during this time, and the details are too extensive to write about right now, but I needed my space. I started to disconnect a little because I was realizing the effect they had on me. I was always doing everything to be on their good side, I was always putting my emotions on the side to keep peace. My sister has a very rude humor. Her jokes consist of putting other people down and making fun of things about them. For example, I have a bad sense of direction. She will make a joke about it, I'll laugh the first five times, but then it becomes excessive and frankly annoying. If someone were to make fun of her flaws on the other hand, she will start crying and start an argument. Throughout my life, I have tried to talk to her calmly about how she hurts me from when we were kids, (which will be explained in another post) and she would just shut down my emotions and deny and never admit anything. As I said before, she always has to be right so she will not listen to anything I say but will be quick to point out any of my flaws. When i try to give her a reason as to why I act a certain way, she just doesn’t even try to listen because all she wants is an apology and for ME to say that I am in the wrong.  

I could literally go on for paragraphs writing about my relationship with my sister and how she is towards me, how I am towards her, but what i want to really talk about is the difficulty I'm having in not allowing my family's negativity affect me, ways I try to cope with all of this. I never thought I'd be the black sheep of my family because I was always the one to make people laugh, be the one they confided in, be the sensitive little sister who was just cute. Since I've been cutting ties, this has all changed. Even though I am the most respectful, responsible child, I am still looked down on because I refuse to allow my sister and mothers negativity drown me and partake in their illusion of life. I LOVE my family, do not get me wrong, and I do not judge them because I understand everyone has different paths and lessons in life that they need to learn from BUT, I cannot deny the fact that I do not feel well or myself when I am around them. The premise of this blog is that I am an empath, so it is needless to say that I am VERY sensitive to my environment. UGH the negativity brings me DOWN, I don’t even feel like myself when I'm in this house. The moment I walk in, there is a shift of energy. I come in with a good energy too, I always try to give them the benefit of the doubt, say hello, ask how they are, try to share. But I get nothing in return. So, I feel like it is a waste of energy.  

What do I do to steer away from the negativity? The other day I came into my house and the energy was severely heavy. I showered. I showered, breathed deep, I cried. Showering really calms me down. I visualize all the black, negative parasites on my body being washed away and I surround myself with a white light. That day I got out of the shower and I was still feeling really heavy. I did a sage cleansing ALL over my house. My intention was to release and get rid of any negative thoughts that have been brought in, to surround my house with a white light, to bring only love and peace in. The atmosphere was a little better after that. I was still affected by the negativity, so I went out. I drove, went to was my car and as I was waiting, I read. I was reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, which I highly recommend. I started to feel more present. I went to get my favorite drink from Starbucks and continue to read in my car.  

I realize that as long as I live in this house, the ultimate way to release any negative energy is to "distract" myself. Locking in myself in my room doesn’t always help even if it is MY space because the energy in the house can be very powerful sometimes. I like to go for long walks, find and listen to new music. And one thing I find completely eases me, is writing it out. It's very challenging being this sensitive and continuously having to deal with the heavy negative energy my family carries, I suggest doing things you love, meditating and really, leaving the house.

Father - Don Julián Miguel Enrique Ortega y Borja - (born 997) The patriarch of the family, Julián is a veteran of many wars and is one of the oldest vampires in the family. His other form is that of a large white lion. He excels in combat. 

Mother - Doña María Teresa Catalina Ruiz del Aguilar - (born 1047) The matriarch, Teresa is also a veteran and is gifted with beauty, something that her daughter inherited. She dotes upon her only daughter, Marisol, and her granddaughter Esperanza. Her other form is a Tawny eagle. Teresa is a master of Persuasion. 

Son - Javier José Antonio Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1377) The eldest son and first born child of Teresa and Julián, Javier is a bit of a problem child, as his hunger is insatiable. He doesn’t approve of hybrids, viewing them as a weak knock-off of vampires and believes that humans should serve vampires. At one point, after his niece’s first birthday, he dangled the infant over a balcony and threatened to drop the crying baby while her terrified mother desperately tried to take her child back. His other form is a fox. He, like his father, excels in combat. 

Son - Jesus María Gabriel Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1385) The second-born child, Jesus is a member of the clergy. He lives in Rome at the Vatican and often assists his family from the religious side of matters. His other form is a dove. 

Son - Carlos Juan Felipe Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1462) The third child, Carlos pursued a career in the Spanish Navy. He is closest to his sister, Marisol, and the two are each other's confidantes. Carlos is an officer aboard the La Maria Silenciosa and became trapped in the Devil’s Triangle for thirty years. His other form is a leopard. He is gifted in hypnosis. 

Daughter - María de la Soledad Catalina Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1497) The fourth child and only daughter, Marisol is a wealthy woman (coming close to her parents' vast fortunes after her second marriage) and inherited her mother’s beauty. Another master of persuasion, Marisol’s other form is a black jaguar. 

Granddaughter - Esperanza Lucrezia Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1750 - died 1998) The only child of Marisol, Esperanza is a hybrid (half vampire half human). Her mother and grandparents doted on the girl throughout her life, some might even call her spoilt. Esperanza spent most of her life with her mother, only leaving twice for marriage. She died in 1998, greatly distressing her mother. 

Son - Juan Andrés Santiago Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1509) The fifth child, Juan was a conquistador for the Spanish Royalty. He disappeared in the New World in 1658. His other form was a pelican. 

Son - Ignacio Juan Manuel Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1605) The sixth child, Ignacio also perused a career in the Spanish Navy. He became a decorated lieutenant and settled in the colonies. His other form was a shark. 

Son - Alejandro Nicolás Pedro Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1700) The seventh child, Alejandro was born at the turn of the century. He is the twin brother of Benjamín. Alejandro is often dragged into his twin’s misadventures. As a fledgling, it is rare for Alejandro to leave the family home without either his parents or older siblings accompanying him. His other form is a rhino. 

Son - Benjamín Pedro Julio Ruiz del Aguilar y Ortega - (born 1700) The eighth child, Benjamín is the twin brother of Alejandro. The more rambunctious of the two, he is always getting into some sort of trouble. As a fledgling, like his twin, it is rare for him to leave the family home without his parents or siblings. His other form is a buffalo.

Sorta? I’ve been putting together an RP/suggestion blog using Aurelio Morgenstern as an RP character

He’s a demon hunter who lives in a relatively uneventful small town that’s still high in supernatural activity. There’s a local demon hunter community there, but he’s kinda shunned for fighting using the magic of a demon, Azazel. 

9. Would you ever be willing to give any of your OCs to someone else?

I mean, I’m 100% down to give Lucian Caelius Luminita to a friend of mine for her story, bc I have nothing to use him in.

I… Totally suck at designing overcomplicated outfits, so my OCs normally wear simple clothes

Aria Hamilton (not related to Hamilton in any way, seriously) is the only upbeat character I’ve ever created.

A friend of mine and I have been developing this fuckin story for like, a month or so, about her character, Crystal Ruiz, being raised by one of my (sort-of) good parent OCs.

13. Do you have any troublemaker OCs? 

Wayland Smith is a huge crack-type character who unintentionally winds up causing catastrophic destruction in the most ridiculous ways that often come off as impossible and inhuman. What’s worse: This man cannot die and literally only exists for me to come up with ridiculous scenarios to have a good laugh.

I made him for The Sims Freeplay and he became the guy who pissed everyone off whenever I got a daily mission that required negative interactions.

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory 

Wilk Argentum: part of an extraterrestrial race made to assimilate with the human ace to determine whether or not they were worth saving after their society collapsed following a major thermonuclear war. 

He got along with the remnants of society well, and went on several adventures with people who befriended him, but ultimately, he unwittingly fulfilled his primary programming by condemning the human race to death, despite it being the only thing he’d ever known.

Faith Branwen, probably.

I got these new characters, part of a four-person superhero team I made up for DC Universe Online, and two of them; Wendigo (Power: nature-aligned magic and shapeshifting into man-eating creatures) and Morningstar (Power: Creation-based abilities) slowly develop from casual dating to really strong-ass feelings for each other

There’s also this guy, Dante, who I always wind up shipping with his ex, Michael, but I don’t know how I’d get them back together yet.

Also most of the characters I ship with my friends’ OCs have a special place in my heart, especially if we develop their relationships :3

Jack Winters was the first OC whose story I really shared with another friend, and we got super close from sharing the stories and eventually getting to know each other, and not just our OCs. Hey guys, shipping gets you places.

I only really have one OC with confirmed singing talent, and that is Alto Artrose, who is, ironically, a soprano.

Wilson Pendleton is basically Delson Rowe pre-superpowerification.

A friend and I normally joke about Lucian Luminita being a much worse parent than we actually portray him in the story; mostly due to him being a single father, who is also a vampire, raising an angry werewolf child. 

23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?

Dante “Seraphim,” also known by his codename Lucifer, was originally going to be called Lucifer as his true name, and be a child of the personification of Death, being sent to ensure that people die when they are supposed to. And if they don’t, they get murdered by the Reaper’s Son. 

The idea was scrapped, but eventually revisited by several other OCs later. 

24. If you could meet one OC of yours, who would it be and why?

Aria Hamilton, because she’s the only one here who isn’t fucked up.

25. The OC that resembles you the most (same hobby, height, shared like/dislike for something etc?)

My fuckin Homestuck self-insert, Luke Napier. He’s basically me, but physically fit, attractive, and actually handles his responsibilities properly.

Nah, not really.

Dante “Seraphim’s” story wound up being heavily influenced by the song “Take Me To Church,” with it’s whole ‘growing out of religion’ theme.

Enoch Branwen, the “Atropos” of this Branwen Moirai. The Branwens preside over the mortality of gods; when an immortal’s time has passed, it is Enoch who is sent to dispatch them. She has killed numerous entities, and is responsible for the Fall of the Old Gods.

Aurelio Morgenstern, Wilson Pendleton, and Sora Williams; the problem children.

Maybe Enoch’s girlfriend, who still doesn’t have a concrete name.

Aurelio Morgenstern blogs about his activities as a demon hunter, not that anyone really listens.

Ian (motherfucking) Grey. This kid’s story throws him into a killing field made for children with magical powers, where he eventually gets possessed by the Wormwood Star; an entity that throws his magical abilities into overdrive. 

Ian has a natural affinity for healing magic, and the Wormwood Star strengthens him to the point where he can heal from injuries almost instantly. The horror of his game isn’t the threat to your survival, it’s from all the pain you endure as you fight your way out of this hellhole. Your enemies can’t kill you, you can’t kill them. But they will hunt you and hunt you until your mind breaks and you can’t fight anymore. 

Basically, imagine Dark Souls with no weapons.

Aside from the “Seraphim” twins, the Branwens are one of my favorite sibling groups!

They’re like the moirai, but they decide when gods die. Faith, the eldest, predicts the lifespans and destinies of the gods when they’re created. Wolfgang, the middle child, watches over the world and ensures that all the gods and deities are doing their jobs, playing their roles, and having faith in the Branwens’ writings.

When a god steps out of line, or refuses to lie down and die, they send Enoch to do what must be done.

HELL YEAH I do.

Lucian Luminita is a vampire, the Branwen siblings are sorta-gods, Dante and Aria “Seraphim” are half-angel and half-demon, respectively, etc.

Lemme tell you about Become Death:

He’s an ally of that superhero team I mentioned earlier, with Wendigo and Morningstar. Obviously, “Become Death” isn’t his real name, but it’s a nickname that just stuck.

Death is an enigma. He doesn’t really know who he is, where he’s from. He just knows that his job is to punish the wicked. The evil. He takes no pleasure in killing, but it’s what he does best.

Before he died, Death was an infamous serial killer. He was brought back to life by an unknown entity for an unknown purpose, but now, he works in the dark to preserve the light. 

He also hasn’t been developed beyond the fact that he wears a fancy suit, and there’s a skull mask grafted onto his face.

Joe is one of the funniest people around and he makes things a lot of fun.”

The two almost end up as teammates at Rain or Shine as Norwood was selected No. 1 overall by the franchise in the 2008 rookie draft, a year after Devance was also tabbed by the Elasto Painter as the top overall pick.

But Devance was traded by the franchise to Alaska during the offseason for then rookie guard Sol Mercado.

“There’s a lot of what ifs, but at the end of the day, we’re happy for one another,” said Norwood. “He’s in a great situation and he’s build a great career for himself.”

Look What You Made Me Do

I am Glyza Fabros Cahambing. I am 18 years of young. I reside in Purok Fortune, Sitio Liberty, Brgy. Camp Downes, Ormoc City, Leyte. I am a grade 12, Humanities and Social Science student in Ipil Integrated Senior High School.

We are seven in all in the family. My father is Mr. Ramel Platero Cahambing. He is a very industrious and protective father to us, his family. He works as a driver. My mother is Mrs. Glenda Fabros Cahambing. She is a perfect mother. She’s incomparable. With her pure heart, we are guided through twists and turns in life.  She has no professional occupation, but currently having a business which is selling viands she cooks at home. Despite of poverty, tiresome and health problems, not a thing can stop them in earning a living for our future. Although I and my siblings are stubborn, they never failed to nurture us. I have four siblings, one girl and three boys.  First is my strong-spirited sister. She’s Lyka Fabros Cahambing. She is the eldest. Second is my strict but thoughtful brother. His name is Lemar Glen Fabros Cahambing whose name was derived from both names of our parent thinking that he is the last born child in the family, but here comes another two. We have cute twin little brothers namely; Renzo and Ruiz. We have a very strong, supportive, loving, caring and faithful family.

I spent my childhood days but not that happy. I was bullied by some children and even grown persons. Let me describe myself way back when I was a kid. I have two big teeth in front and was outward, I am fat, I wore eyeglasses, I have frizzy hair and I don’t have good taste in fashion. Some kids call me ‘lola’ in our place and also some students like me and some teachers call me ‘pakol’- a kind of fish they characterized as ugly. Behind all of it, I have a knight and shining armor, my sister. She protects me from those who bully me. She’s on the rescue for me since I am a crying kid.

My health isn’t in satisfactory especially when I was a baby. According to my parents, I was brought to the hospital almost every month. The doctors even told them that I might have some disabilities due to consecutive intake of medicine. It was almost death but God gave me a chance to continue my life on earth. This might be the reason of why they are so protective to me.

I have been realized of probable prematurity and brain incapability, but instead, I excelled in class. My parents least expected this. I am a consistent honored student.

I graduated as a valedictorian with academic awards in Camp Downes Elementary School. It is a very promising moment in my life, but doomed when some people tries to ruin this happiness of mine. As a conventional culture, in terms of honors, a transferee shall not over take someone who is a student in a school from past to current school year. Since I was a transferee in my graduate school, some teachers won’t allow me to graduate as a valedictorian.  They even sabotaged the graduation ceremony. They started the event even if I’m not yet there. They made my valedictory address the last part after the emcee announced the portion for picture taking. They talked behind my back and confronted our class adviser. The family of our salutatorian which is a teacher was once an employer of my mother way back childhood. That’s why she’s deeply insulted with the situation. I could have never forgotten this happening in my life, but it did not discourage me, instead, it motivates me even harder.

In high school, I’m still an achiever. I completed junior high school in Ipil National High School. This time, I am better. I don’t wear eye glasses anymore and I started learning on grooming myself. I am no longer being bullied, but still a crying lady. I have a weak shield from being hurt especially when I started getting into a love commitment. So many times I had been hurt, but still loving all over again. Until the time I learned to be strong who can conquer the odds. I admit cry but now, behind closed doors.

I am a servant of a catholic church, a member of our very own Sacred Heart of Jesus Youth Ministry in residential area. Before, I just want to sing during the mass, but now it’s more than that. I’ve learned that it is all about serving the church and the people in and for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. My faith is strengthened.

Also I am a campus journalist, a news writer and a broadcaster from junior high school until senior high school.  I was once an active Red Cross Volunteer last Grade 11.

Right now, I am no longer bullied, I can face the different challenges with strengthened faith to God, and our family is even stronger than ever. I got two new very loyal best friends that replaced my last best friend who promised to go back to me from Cebu, but seems like amnesiac that she seems enjoying her life without my company and I am blessed with a very loving boyfriend that is just my chat mate before, courted me for about three months and after a week and more meet up with me and my family at home, he got my sweetest ‘yes’.

I realized that it is not just life, but living because life is what I got but living is what I give to the world and the people on it and most of all, to the Lord, our God.
