Ems 150 pt2 closed starter (you don’t have to do pt1 first)
(get ready this shits long)
It was campfire and every thing was normal, the younger campers we’re getting put to bed, the counselors we’re talking about tomorrows war games, it was all normal….
But where’s Em?
You turn around and see way in the back far away from everybody else Em with one ear on her shoulder and covering the other one with her hand while with her free hand she pulled at the grass. You were about to walk over to her and ask if they were okay, but that’s when they got up and walked into the Apollo cabin.
as soon as they walked in the lights turned out. You assumed they were just overstimulated and went to sleep..
gods, if only that was it
You saw a warm light slowly emerging from the Apollo cabin, that’s when you decided to check on Em
you walk in to see her asleep….. no….she was talking…. Only it wasn’t her voice… the voice was much deeper than Ems almost like one of a forty year old man
the voice spoke “Emma stop saying that, you are home”
“NO IM NOT YOU MONSTER STOP CALLING ME THAT” Ems voice had fought back
“but then where is?” A third voice asked. This voice was more androgynous than the other two.
“camp” Em said their voice shaky
“but then why do you keep running from it” the first voice said
“I-“ Em started silently crying “I don’t know it-“
they got cut off by the third voice “oh look it’s a little crybaby”
“IM NOT CRYING EPIALES AND IF I WAS ISNT THAT THE POINT OF YOUR NIGHTMARE BULLSHIT” Em said wipe tears from her face
Epiales you thought who could that be? No… it couldn’t child of nyx the personification of nightmares
“look Vernon” Epiales said “your kids so fuck pathetic she can’t even handle the truth. This is your home Emma”
“NO” Em screamed you had no clue how she was still asleep “I want to go home”
“oh but Em” her dad said “this is your home Emma please come back” Vernon pleaded
“never” Em said
oh great you thought Em wasn’t only possessed by the personification of nightmares but her living nightmare too, her step dad
That’s when Em opens her eyes and locks eyes with you
the two of you are frozen like that for a solid two minutes but as soon as you ask her if she’s okay she takes off sprinting out of the Apollo cabin into the woods you run after her just to be stopped by her older brother Braydon
“don’t” he says grabbing your wrist with tears in his eyes “give her time I heard it all”

SORRY ITS LONG💗😭
Calm Down!
Summary: After a certain soldiers constant slip ups and slacking off Lieutenant Rage gets angry.
Tumblr media
Females She/Her and She/ They DNI
Today hadn't gone so well, in fact it went terribly. For starters two of the new recruits lost the files that the team had been sent to retrieve. Secondly, one of the same men had flunked out during training, only to later be seen running about with some of the other soldiers. And the cup of tea to pull everything together he did something he shouldn't have. That thing being talking about one of the higher ups, Lieutenant Rage, also known as M/n. The h/c haired male had his eyes on the recruit since the beginning, knowing that he'd be trouble from the start. The childish acts, the constant slacking off, and always holding everybody back by getting injured. It was clear as day that the man shouldn't be in the military for those exact reasons. The mans carelessness for himself and others would get them all killed.
"Captain do you not understand what i'm saying?" The h/c haired male asked as Price hummed, showing that he was paying attention to the males words as he filled out some papers.
"Rage look, I understand your concern but I haven't seen anything wrong with the seargent." Price explained as M/n glared into his skull.
"Besides maybe your overreacting-"
"I AM NOT OVERREACTING!" The male finally snapped as that cold glint in his eyes that would normally only be seen on the field was now visible. Price flinched at the males change of tone, it was hot yet scary.
"That bastard could get us all killed at some point and your sitting on yer ass like that's ok. THAT IS NOT OKAY!" The male yelled as Price shook slightly from the males booming voice. He was the males Captain, he shouldn't be getting yelled at like this. With one final huff of anger the male stormed out as Price sat in his chair stunned.
The h/c haired male stormed down the hallway, knocking a solider down in the process.
"Hey! Whats your problem....." The soldiers voice dragged as he realized it was his Lieutenant. "I-i'm sorry sir!" The soldier squeaked as he ran down the hallway. M/n was already breathing heavily out of anger, and that anger seemed to double after that small accident. He had to let off some steam at this point. If he was pushed any further he'd end up killing someone. The man was speeding over to the training area that he knew would be empty considering that it was around the time the soldiers would go to their barracks. The h/c haired male couldn't do that, his adrenaline was high and that would only keep him awake longer. He just hoped that he could blow off some steam before going to bed.
Timskip (Gaz pov)
I just came from Prices office and he seemed to be deep in thought. I asked if everything was oky but he said no. He told me about the conversation he had with M/n and from how he explained it, it seemed like he was pissed off. M/n was always the most aggressive out of us all, hell he'd probably yank a mans head off if he could.
We were all walking around the base looking for our beligerant soldier known as M/n. The man could do the unthinkable when he's angry so we hope he isn't doing anything crazy.
"We've checked everywhere for the man it's clear he isn't here!" Soap complained, getting tired of feeling like he had been walking circles. I looked at the man before turning my attention to Ghost. Seemed like he didn't wanna be here either, but he had no choice. We passed the training area and heard a loud slam which caught our attention. Price gave us a look before opening the door. I was surprised to see M/n standing over a punching bag, i'm guessing he broke it considering that the chain that the bag was connected to wasn't there anymore. The man was out of breath as he picked up the punching bag and throwing it to the side.
Ghost had walked over and put his arms under the shorter males arms. The man immediately threw a fit, he was kicking and yelling incoherantly and the men were only able to hear snippets of his words.
"Get the fuck off me-BITCH!" The male yelled as he whipped his head back hitting Ghosts mask. Ghost grunted from the sudden pressure being put on his face as he crouch down to the floor with the male still in his hold. The taller man had the h/c haired male pinned to the ground as the position they were in restricted his movements.
3rd pov
"M/n calm down, we can stay like this for as long as we have to, to make your relax." Price said as M/n huffed angrily. Slowly but surely the mans breathing steadied, despite that he still wasn't calm. Gaz had held the mans hand and furrowed his brows at the sight of the males bleeding knuckles. Ghost had already noticed the mans hands, so he picked him up and walked to the infirmary.
Timeskip
Ghost was seated on the couch next to Ghost, who was currently sipping on some tea as the h/c haired male groaned in annoyance. The slurping sounds aggravated him but he couldn’t since Ghost had him wrapped up in a blanket. He looked like a burrito, a angry one at that. The lieutenant looked at him for a moment before offering the male a biscuit, to which he took. He may be angry, but when snacks are offered there can’t be much of an argument. The male muttered a “thank you” while chewing the savory treat. In that moment Soap and the others came into the room in their pajamas. The Scot almost laughed when he saw the position the private had been put in.
“Well ain’t this nice to see.” Soap said while ruffling the males hair to which the male attempted to bite his hand. Soap laughed and poked the males side before sitting down.
“L/n...look, I thought about what you had said and your right.” Price said as M/n looked him dead in the eye.
“We’ll be terminating him tomorrow, he won’t be bothering anyone else.” Price explains as M/n visibly relaxed. Seems like the removal of that one recruit made a big difference in the males mood which made them all happy.
“Alright...Lets watch a movie since we’re still up!” Gaz said happily while the other men hummed in agreement as M/n squirmed under the blanket.
“If one of you dont get me out this hot ass blanket we’re having problems.” M/n said as Soap hurriedly tool the blanket from around the male. The sound of the movie could be heard as all the men sat back and relaxed. M/n had his head on Ghosts shoulder while Soap had his head on M/n’s. Seems like they would be having a peaceful night.

₍ 📻 ₎   the mountain goats lyrics  rp  starters  ! featuring violence, explicit language + subject matters & mature topics . some lines have been slightly adjusted for rp purposes .
let him who thinks he knows no fear look well upon my face.
bring your heroes, watch them all get crushed.
everybody's got their limits. nobody's found mine.
some things you will remember. some things stay sweet forever.
i can see the future, it's a real dark place.
who will mop up all the blood?
there's no promise sweeter than a blood pact.
i'm as happy as i'm ever gonna be. you're by my side.
wrap this around your head. don't let anyone see that you're bleeding.
if you can't beat them, make them bleed like pigs.
and i am coming home to you with my own blood in my mouth.
every moment leads towards its own sad end.
i am coming home to you, if it's the last thing that i do.
i am this great unstable mass of blood and foam.
i think i hear angels in my ears.
some days i don't miss my family. some days i do.
lend me your hand. let me look in your eyes.
when i try to open up to you, i get completely lost.
some days i think i'd feel better if i tried harder.
i woke up afraid of my own shadow. like genuinely afraid.
keep your head low. try to leave no traces when you go.
don't even question your senses, you can be sure it's me.
it was their love you wanted, not mine.
you know and i know, everyone knows it. i'm the one.
i may have failed you once before. but this means war.
the best you've got is powerless against me.
please don't send me back to where i came from.
you're going to do what you want, no matter what i ask of you.
all your little schemes break when they come crashing up against me.
what did i come down here for? you.
i've got you. you've got whatever's left of me.
i hope you blink before i do.
i hope you die. i hope we both die
i want to say i'm sorry for stuff i haven't done yet.
would you look at that? we're throwing off sparks.
what will i do when i don't have you to hold onto in the dark?
i don't know why it's gotten harder to keep myself away.
i saw the future in a dream last night. there's nothing in it.
somebody's gonna get hurt. i hope it's not me.
i couldn't help myself. i don't know what i need.
i hope the bad guys win. i hope the good guys get their skulls bashed in.
i waited here all by myself.
down there in the dark i could see the real truth about myself.
when you came in, i could breathe again.
you're the last, best thing i've got.
some things you'll do for money, and some you'll do for fun.
the things you do for love are gonna come back to you one by one.
it's not nice to try to kill the same thing twice.
i used to love you so much i was sure it would kill me.
i want you the way you were.
we can leave a nasty mark when we're gone.
i know you don't want me to hurt you tonight.
i don't want you to hurt me the way you do.
i am right here where you want me.
the stars would come out of hiding for you. and i would too.
i will do what you ask me to, because of how i feel about you.
you have questions only a masochist would ask.
your bright eyes are gonna kill me for sure.
nobody is innocent here. i've got more blood on my hands than you do.
you've done something awful. i've done something worse.
you can stand up, or you can run.
we both know know what you've done.
some things you do just to see how bad they'll make you feel.
we both know you're leaving. you just don't want to say it yet.
i've got no good reasons left not to let down my guard.
you were warm. that's all i remember.
i feel guilty, but i can't feel ashamed.
hang on to your dreams until someone beats them out of you.
when the time comes to loosen your grip, you'll know.
you found my breaking point. congratulations.
nobody gets away. even the best of us come back someday.

TANGLED FEELINGS
legolas x fem! reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Request: yes / no
Synopsis: One thing you liked about Legolas was the way he braided his hair, so when you asked him to braid yours, your feelings also end up tangled.
Warning/content: kissing, my English, poorly proofread
a.n.: 1.4k words- first time writing for legolas so it might be out of character, give me the time to find the best way to write him. i love the hair braiding trope and wanted to write my own version of it!

Escorting Frodo to destroy the ring was a difficult task but you were willing to help. Whilst you were exhausted from the daily numerous hours of walking and fighting and being constantly on your guard, it was also an opportunity to meet new people.
During the long moments of wandering, you were able to study every member of the fellowship. From Gimli’s regular mumbling to Sam’s awkward demarch when you were going through rocky mountains or even Pippin and Merry’s loud singing when it was time to rest. But what you cared the most about was Legolas.
As much as you tried to deny it for a long time, you had fallen for the elvish man. Your attention always ended up locked on him and one of the things you remarked the most was his hair. Of course, everybody would pay attention to his long blonde- almost white- locks but what stayed on your mind was the braids that kept his hair elegant even after a fight and the ability he had to so easily make them when they ended up undone due to the agitated day that just happened.
One calm evening, when everyone was resting on their own side, you approached the elf. You let yourself fall to the ground next to him without saying a word. Legolas turned his head and offered you a gentle smile that warmed your heart.
“How do you manage to do that?” you finally asked, breaking the silence lingering between the two of you.
Legolas raised an eyebrow, not expecting such a conversation starter “Manage to do what?”
“These,” you said as you pointed at his braids.
He let out a chuckle “Two thousand years of practice,” he laughed, leading to a laugh falling from your own lips.
“Could you braid mine?” you asked with such a smile he couldn’t decline even though you noted the surprised expression that crossed his face for a split second. You sat between Legolas’ legs, on a rock that was just sufficiently shorter than the one he was resting on.
You let his fingers brush your neck and ears as he gathered the hair he needed and you tried to stop the shivers from running down your spine. Enjoying this moment of proximity with the elf, you close your eyes, relaxing under his hands.
You didn’t know how much time it took him but it was definitely too short for you. “There you go,” he smiled warmly. You turned around to look at him and you couldn’t ignore the faint blush on his pale cheeks.
“How do I look?”
“Great. You look great.” And he had to stop himself from saying more.
Happy with your new hairstyle, you joined your two other comrades, Aragorn and Gimli since the other members of the fellowship were already taken by sleep.
They both shared a look when they saw you (and Legolas coming from behind you with a flustered face) with a smile on their lips. “What?” you asked confused. Aragorn let out a ‘nothing’ with an amused tone before taking a sip of his drink.
You furrowed your brows, not understanding their reactions but decided to ignore them and started to chat with your friends. The night was filled with laughter and for the first time in a while you felt like you could finally rest, however you couldn’t escape observing the glances shared between Aragorn and Gimli.
You took advantage of the moment when Legolas and Aragorn left you to survey the surrounding area, since a few suspicious sounds had been heard, to ask the Dwarf for some explanation.
“What is going on?” you asked and it came out a bit more exasperated than what you wanted.
Gimli laughed as he took a puff of his pipe “I should be the one askin’ ya”
“Why?”
Gimli glanced at you with mischief in his eyes “Your hair…”
You smiled at this, remembering the feeling of Legolas' fingers tangled in your hair “Yes? Legolas braided it.”
“Do you know about braids?”
Surprised by this question, you raised an eyebrow “No, that’s why he braided them”
Gimli shifted a little closer to you “One thing me and the pointy-eared elf have in common’s our culture ‘bout braids. For elves and dwarves, who braid your hair is important. It’s either your family or…” he trailed off with a smirk on his lips.
“Or?”
“The person you court.” Your smile faded and your eyes widened, Gimli laughed at your reaction “You don’t like him?” he said knowing very well your heart fancied the elven man.
You thought about it. Of course you liked him. You loved him even, he was occupying every parcel of your brain. You had met him before forming the fellowship, crossing paths with him during some of his or your adventures. You wanted to impress him all the time, you wanted him to be proud of you, you would always try your best during fights or even when it came to making food when Sam wasn’t.
Suddenly, you were scared. What if you ruined it all? The last thing you wanted him to be was uncomfortable. Too many thoughts ran in your mind and you only escaped the grasp of your own mind when Gimli coughed.
“I- I do but he doesn’t. He only braided my hair because I asked him to…” you said with an ounce of disappointment. You didn’t think your feelings could be reciprocated, he was Legolas, a prince, cultured, brave and strong and you… you were you. Even at your best, you didn’t deserve him.
“Why d’ya think he did it, huh?” he said with a knowing smile before the elf and the dùnedain came back. “Aragorn, won’t ya come with me?” he asked as he got up. The interested quickly looked at you and understood, following Gimli. An awkward silence settled between you and Legolas. He could feel something was off with you.
“I’m so sorry,” you finally said and received a confused look from Legolas.
“Why?”
“I didn’t know about the braids,” you swallowed, how much you wished he had done it with the intention of courting you. “I didn’t want you to feel obligated to do it and now that I know the meaning behind it, I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” Stupid, stupid me you thought. You regretted not knowing more about him, about the elves, about the other races than yours. But you hadn’t lived for two thousand years like him, how could you possibly know just as much?
To your surprise, Legolas’ lips extended into a smile “You didn’t make me uncomfortable. I did it knowing very well what were my intentions,” he said so confidently you could only believe him.
“You…?”
Legolas chuckled at your sudden shyness and hummed “Mmh, but you maybe want me to be a bit more clear with my feelings for you, I may be good with my words when it comes to you I’m unsure of what to say and nervous. And if I can’t express verbally how my heart feels around you, I can show you.”
Apprehensively, you nodded. Legolas slowly got closer to you, his nose bumped into yours and he chuckled “Sorry,” he whispered as his smile brightened. Your face mirrored his expression and, carefully, you brushed your lips against his. He kissed you and got lost in the feeling. He was finally yours, after weeks and weeks of observing you. Since he first saw you, he wanted you. And there, he could hold you, he could kiss you.
When Legolas pulled away, he rested his forehead on yours. You let out a breath and looked at him shyly. All your doubts and fears were gone now “So… Can I braid your hair?”
“No,” he said and he chuckled when your eyes widened “You’re way too bad at it.” You giggled, relieved. Legolas kissed your lips once more “But I can teach you,” he whispered with a smile on the corner of his mouth.
Your ears turned warm and you hid your face in his chest “Please do.”

Winter of 1975
Prompt Day 2: Winter Themed Sentence Starters | Word Count: 1200 | Rating: T | CW: Language, Mentions of Childhood Trauma, Innuendo | Tags: Future Fic, Established Relationship, Gift Giving, Softness, Steve POV
Tumblr media
"Did I ever tell you about the winter of '75?" Eddie asks, curling up on the couch next to Steve, tucking his feet under him.
Steve shakes his head no, at least he doesn't think so. Or if he has, Eddie didn't word it like that.
"When you were ten?" Steve asks.
Eddie nods, "When I was ten. My mom had died, you know, earlier that year. And my dad, well, you know."
Steve nods. He knows. He stretches his arm out, and lets Eddie curl into him.
"Well, Uncle Wayne was bound and determined to make it a good Christmas. It wasn't possible, not really, but he was gonna try his best."
Steve smiles, that sounds like Wayne. If there's anything Steve knows, it's that Wayne Munson loves Eddie.
"Well, he took me sledding. I broke my arm. He bought a real tree. I was allergic to pine. We made hot cocoa on the stove, and I dropped it, nearly scalding my feet. Just, you know, everything that could go wrong, did. It's the Munson way," Eddie says, with a laugh.
Steve kisses him on the head, and tries to remember what the Christmas of 1975 looked like for him. He imagines he got all the toys he wanted, and his parents hosted parties in their house that he wasn't invited to attend. Sitting on the second floor, little hands gripping the slats of the railing, just hoping to get a glimpse of what was going on, down below. Hoping to see his parents, for just a few minutes. The usual.
Those nights were always the worst. As soon as he got home from school, they'd feed him an early dinner and send him straight up to bed. And then the activity started downstairs, without him. He wonders now, as an adult, why they didn't just invite some kids? They could have still been corralled upstairs, away from the party, but he wouldn't have been all alone. Even if it was just Tommy H. That would have gone a long way to making them tolerable.
Eddie continues talking, "But Uncle Wayne kept trying. He bought me a Pet Rock," Eddie says, with a laugh. "I begged for it in the store, and it cost four dollars. He bought it and handed it over, and I opened the box. And it was a rock."
Steve laughs, he had one, too. Everybody did, he's pretty sure.
"Well, the name was pretty clear about what it was," Steve says.
"I know. I just wanted it to be something else, I guess. Something a little more lively. It was just a rock. Whoever invented that was a genius. Think of all the money they made. For rocks."
Steve smiles at him.
"But, Uncle Wayne just bought me some paints, and brushes, and told me to make it whatever I wanted it to be then."
Eddie smiles, "So I did. I gave it eyes, and some hair, and it looked a little goofy. But it had some personality."
"Like you," Steve says, hugging Eddie closer.
Eddie just rolls his eyes, "Anyway. I loved it after that. But, I still had paint, so Uncle Wayne got me a sketchbook. And I started drawing, and then painting what I'd drawn. Like my own coloring book, but filled with everything I liked, and nothing for little babies," Eddie says, laughing. "The fridge was full of weird shit that was coming out of my brain."
Steve nods. Weird shit is still coming out of Eddie's mind, and he loves it all. Every last thing. He might not understand it all, but he likes that Eddie is curious about the world around him. That he has opinions. Strong opinions, sometimes, sure. Even wrong opinions in Steve's mind. But opinions. Eddie wants to talk about the things that run through his mind, and Steve wants him to, always willing to listen.
"Anyway. I learned to draw. To paint. To love art, because of that Pet Rock. I designed all my own tattoos. I did the Hellfire logo. It gave me an outlet I didn't know I needed or wanted."
Steve kisses his bare shoulder, hoping he'll continue. He loves to hear him talk.
"Well, all that said," Eddie says, pulling a wrapped box out from under the coffee table, and handing it to Steve.
It's not Christmas, not yet.
"It's not Christmas yet," Steve argues.
"It's not a Christmas present," Eddie says.
"The wrapping paper says otherwise," Steve teases, and Eddie laughs, pinching his side. It is wrapped in red, with a heavy fabric bow that there's no way Eddie did.
"Who wrapped this?" Steve follows up, needing to know. Because it damn well wasn't Eddie.
"Excuse you? You don't think I could wrap this?" Eddie asks, acting very affronted by this accusation.
Steve just raises one eyebrow.
"Erica did," Eddie mutters, "just open it."
So, Steve opens it, carefully. And when he pulls back the tissue paper, it's a painting of the two of them. From a million years ago. Walking through the forest. But it's not dark, and red, like it really was that night. Here, it's lush and green, with the sun shining overhead, casting gorgeous shadows all through the trees.
It's stunning.
Steve meets Eddie's eyes, "It's beautiful."
"Well, it's only beautiful because you are," Eddie says, and Steve blushes. Just a little. Even after all these years.
"When did you have time to do this?" Steve asks, because he definitely hasn't seen Eddie working on a canvas lately. He'd have noticed that. The mess alone. The mugs of dirty, paint stained water. The countertop lined with drying brushes.
He's seen no evidence of any of that.
Eddie smiles, "I did it at Wayne's. During our Sunday morning breakfasts. We talked while I painted. And yes, I cleaned up my own messes," Eddie says, dryly.
Steve just smiles at him.
"It's really good, Eddie. Really, really good. You could do this, if you wanted to. For a living."
Eddie just laughs, "We definitely don't have the luxury of me painting with the hopes that I'll sell some of them. And that's okay. Maybe someday," Eddie says.
Steve knows he's right. They aren't exactly rolling in money, but maybe someday they'll be better off, and Eddie will be able to just stay home, doing something he loves. Wouldn't that be something?
"You know, I do have other ideas of things to paint…" Eddie trails off, and the glint in his eye means he's definitely up to no good.
"Oh lord, what?" Steve asks, suspicious of that look in his eye.
"How do you feel about posing nude for me?" Eddie asks, giving him the eyes.
Steve barks out a laugh. Sure. He'll pose nude for Eddie. It's not like he's shy or anything. Eddie has definitely seen it all before.
He only has one question.
"What are you gonna do with it once you're done?" Steve asks, raising his eyebrow, imploring for the truth.
Eddie just grins, that evil grin of his, and Steve shakes his head. Oh well. He definitely knew what he was getting into once he decided to spend his life with Eddie Munson.

Now That We Don’t Talk | Jake Seresin blurb
Takes place during the TGM events
Tumblr media
TGM masterlist
Characters & Pairings: Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin x ex!reader (past romance), the dagger squad (platonic)
Content Warnings: light angst, profanity, slight suggestive content, cheating, breakup | female!reader | wc: 2.2k
Note: I’m obsessed with 1989 TV and I’ll admit I was never a TS fan growing up but her OG 1989 I liked and I fuck with some songs Evermore, Reputation, Lover & Midnights. That being said, I’ve got the vault tracks on repeat and as a fellow directioner….Harry, baby, I thought you’d be safe.
————————
“You went to a party I heard from everybody. You part the crowd like the red sea, don’t even get me started. Did you get anxious though, on the way home? I’ll guess I’ll never ever know. Now that we don’t talk.”
His number had been deleted for well over three years when she stepped foot into the familiar bar she once called a second home. It’d been just as long since they’d seen each other, neither aware they’d be reunited in mere moments. When she did find his face among the crowd of their colleagues, she froze, contemplating running out the door and back to her car. Images of their last night flooded her mind. She could recall the constant pinging of her cell phone. Text messages from mutual friends informing her that he had been seen in an intimate embrace with another woman before disappearing from the party.
When he got home he avoided her like the plague. Anxiety consuming his entire being, making it clear the rumors were not rumors. They were true as the sun brightened the sky in the day and the moon reigned at night.
“Jake,” her whimper made him freeze, hand on the railing of the steps leading to their bedroom. No response, only a shake of his head before he continued his journey up. Leaving her to cry herself to sleep on the kitchen floor.
It was a domino effect in the days following. The trust was gone, Jake going out more and coming back late at night. Eventually after two weeks of prolonging the inevitable, Jake returned to an empty apartment. All reminisce of their five years together gone in the blink of an eye. She left a simple note, “Hope it was worth it.”
“You grew your hair long, you got new icons. And from the outside it looks like you’re tryin’ lives on. I miss the old ways. You didn’t have to change. But I guess I don’t have a say, Now that we don’t talk.
Natasha was the first to catch her eye in the Hard Deck, putting down her beer to run over and greet the pilot with a quick hug. Careful not to let anyone else see since they were in uniform. “I’m so happy to see you, Blue.”
She returned the smile, though hers was more tense, “It’s great to see you too, Phee. How’ve you been?” Nerves swarmed her belly with each passing minute. Despite being happy to see her old friend, she was unable to ignore the elephant in the room. The man she thought she’d marry and grow old with on a farm after retiring from the Navy with a bunch of kids and animals was several feet from her.
Overall, Jake had not changed much since their breakup. He was tanner for starters, definitely more toned. But he still had that aura of confidence sometimes confused with being cocky and golden blonde hair making him appear like a life-sized Ken doll. Throughout their relationship she noticed the stares they got from men and women alike. Woman looked at him with want and at her with envy. Men did the same but opposite.
It always surprised people when they got together. Complete opposites, they were known to have a rivalry during their time at Top Gun when they were on the path to becoming the Navy’s best fighter pilots. Jake loved to get under her skin, she loved to deflate his ego. Somewhere the dislike and tension turned into complete desire. And before they knew it they were sneaking into each other’s dorms and getting naughty in the locker room showers.
Her body reacted when he was looking at her. He’d spot her in a crowded room and instantly the woman felt heat along her veins. And she felt that fire right then when a sudden rush of jitters sweeped her figure.
Natasha sensed it too, noticing how the woman became tense. Peeking a glance to the side, a glare took over her once soft expression, “We can go somewhere else if you want.”
“No,” she objected with a slight wave, “I’m fine. A little surprised--although I should’ve expected he’d be a candidate as well given the context of this mission. It’s just we haven’t talked since….”
“I understand,” Nat assured, placing a hand on her back and leading her to the bar. “Let’s get you a drink first, then we’ll deal with him.”
“I call my mom, she said that it was for the best. Remind myself, the more I gave you, you’d want me less. I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost. And what it cost, now that we don’t talk.”
Her mothers words replayed over and over again with each step as the two approached the group. Jake was leaning over the pool, calculating his next shot when she moved straight past him causing him to lose focus and miss the ball he was aiming for completely.
“Blue!” Javy shouted, picking her up in a big hug and spinning them around. Not caring if superiors saw or the fact his best friend, who happens to be her ex, was right there. “I’ve missed you, Girl. What’s going on?”
“Nothing much, Javy,” she couldn’t help but giggle. Of all the friends Jake had, Javy was the one who still reached out to her from time to time. Plus he ripped Jake a new one when he found out why they broke up. To this day he still gives him hell for it. “Let it be Top Gun, to bring us all under one roof.”
“Don’t you know it,” he clicked his beer with hers. The two taking a swig at the same time. “Have you met these clowns?” he motioned to the three to his left, “This is Payback, Fanboy, and Bob.”
“Nice to meet you guys,” they shook hands, greeting her with the same enthusiasm. When Bradley arrived she was once again scooped up into a hug, although this time she caught sight of Jake’s hardened expression. That shouldn’t have surprised her. Bradley Bradshaw was the one man Jake always butt heads with.
But the blonde quickly shook it off when he realized he got caught. He had no right to be jealous. It’d been three years since they broke up. And it was his fault nonetheless.
“Well I’ll be damn,” Bradley set her down gently, still embracing her. “If it isn’t Miss. Blues Clues.” A playful slap hit his chest when they parted.
“You know I hate that name, Bradshaw.”
The two caught up briefly, sitting on stools at the opposite end of the pool table. At one point Bradley made her laugh that the beer she’d been sipping on spilled off her mouth, causing him to giggle and hand her some napkins. While dabbing the liquid away, she locked eyes with Jake. It only lasted a few seconds, but it felt like a lifetime. Pinning her to her seat with an unreadable gaze.
She nearly broke, feeling a speck of desire to talk to him, but then remembered her mothers words, “the more you gave him, the less he wanted you. While you may forgive him for all the hurt he brought you, you cannot subject yourself to that again. You deserve better.”
“What do you tell your friends, we, shared dinners, long weekends with? Truth is, I can’t pretend it’s platonic, it’s just ended so…”
She made a silent vow to herself, recalling the painful memories, the phone conversation with her mother along with bits and pieces friends have told her over the years of what Jake had relied on as the reason for their breakup. She would not fall again to his charm. There was no string that could be tied up in an attempt to fix what was cut.
Around them were friends they’d spend long weekends with. Javy and Nat were the most frequent, both having witnessed their relationship blossom and die. It made her wonder what others they hung out with knew. Whenever they’d see each other in passing the conversations always felt like they were walking on eggshells around her. And because she wanted to move on, she’d never ask what Jake told them.
For the sake of their jobs she’d be civil. The past was the past and it would stay there, but she’d make sure to remember it whenever those old feelings threatened to surface. From the looks of Jake throughout the night, he felt the same. It was obvious he wanted to find a moment alone with her to talk, but she refused to let that happen.
“I call my mom, she said to get it off my chest (off my chest). Remind myself the way you faded ‘til I left (until I left). I cannot be your friend, so I pay the price of what I lost (what I lost). And what it cost, now that we don’t talk.”
When she arrived at her dorm that would be her home for the next three weeks, the first thing she did was retrieve the letter to herself she wrote all those years ago. It was crumbled, having almost thrown it away several times, but remembering the significance within the words inked on the lines, she always pulled it back.
Parts of the paper were withered. A result from the teardrops that had fallen when she took to her desk after the phone call with her mother to write down everything weighed on her chest. Pouring her heart and soul into the paper. It wasn’t much, only taking up the front of the page, but it was enough to get the message across.
Her past self coming to remind her of those fleeting last months. Where Jake slowly became the ghost of the man she’d once loved. The constant worry and anxiety from hours of radio silence. Dinners that felt like an awkward first date. Not inviting her out with his friends anymore. HIs lingering eyes on women who weren’t her. Excusing it with bullshit remarks to make her think she was being dramatic. Finally, the party that sealed the deal.
To imagine what they would be if she gave him another chance would be an insult to herself. Instead, she thought about all she gained.
“I don’t have to pretend I like acid rock. Or that I’d like to be on a mega yacht. With important men who think important thoughts. Guess maybe I am better off, now that we don’t talk.”
After the breakup, she realized how much she hid herself from the world. There were things she pretended to like in order to please him. Like watching college football every weekend, entertaining mostly his friends and leaving her to sit on the couch with a book in hand only to not be able to concentrate with the loud ruckus they’d cause.
Or having to refrain from the things that made her happy. Singing at the top of her lungs in the car while her favorite songs played for the first time in years felt liberating. Not having to be careful on what she spent her money on now that she didn’t have to save more for rent because Jake started to blow his on going to the bar during the last several months of their relationship.
The worst was having to put on a facade in front of Jake’s superiors. Though stationed at the same base they were part of different squadrons. During the banquets and balls, Jake tended to make comments on what dresses she should wear and how to act when they arrived. He was always the kiss ass type who wanted to get promoted faster than his peers. Even though she praised him constantly, Jake was never satisfied unless one of his bosses complimented him. If she were honest to herself, she hated attending the events. Despite being in the Navy herself. Unless they were mandatory she’d find an excuse to not go. Being around men with egos as tall as the empire state building who only talked in statistics and status was draining.
“And the only way back to my dignity. Was to turn into a shrouded mystery. Just like I had been when you were chasing me.”
For the last three years, the way she carried herself changed. She had to for the sake of not letting her heart rot away. Taking back the self-respect she’d lost, after thinking for so long it was her fault Jake had betrayed her. That she wasn’t enough.
She was more than enough.
He was the one who chose to cheat. He was the one who didn’t try to defend himself or fight for what they had. He let himself go. He let her go.
So, after a good month of wallowing in self-pity and despair, she lifted herself up with poise and elegance. Remembering who she was before him. The woman who carried herself with confidence, never allowing anyone to tear her down. Who fought hard to build her career to what it was, after so many doubting her abilities.
The woman he chased after. Who at the core was strong, daring, resilient.
Sure, Jake taught her a lot. About herself, about what she wanted in a relationship. About love. She’ll never forget what they had.
She lost him, but along the way she found herself. And to her, that was everything.
“Guess this is how it has to be, now that we don’t talk.”

Akatsuki Beach day HCs?(also include orochimaru if you don't mind) kisame is thriving
Tumblr media
Anytime I think akatsuki and the beach I can only imagine absolute chaos
I’m loving all these fun and mushy scripts y’all are sending my way🖤🥺also, please don’t worry if it takes me a while to get to yours, my small business and my job(I work retail and it’s been a HOT MESS with Christmas right around the corner) tend to take up a lot of my time but I promise to get to every one you lovies send in<3
Okay, back to it..
🐚so for starters I could see Konan being the main planner. Food, drinks, making sure they have enough of literally everything they could need, as well as making sure everybody wakes up on time to leave.
🐠then for the majority of the time they’re at the beach she would be found relaxing under an umbrella reading or watching everybody have a good time.
🦞pain on the other hand would be trying to stop deidara from blowing up Tobi. (I’ll elaborate further down)
🪸pain would definitely be the ‘dad’ of the group, making sure things aren’t getting too out of hand, and failing terribly at it. Zetsu lost a sandal? Just go barefoot, what’s the worst that could happen? He gets a splinter or a rock scrapes his heel. Feels bad when Zetsu starts crying about his foot hurting, would buy him ice cream as an apology.
🌊I imagine Zetsu as being a big softie. Just like Tobi he wouldn’t know what to do first. I also see him having a slight fear of water? Someone tries splashing him he’d close his leaves? Pinchers? Locking himself in his own shelter
☀️he’d find a bucket, a cup, literally anything and start collecting all the pretty shells he spots, even when the bucket gets full, he’ll start stuffing them in his pockets.
🪼our gentle masked comrade Tobi would refuse to take his mask off, let alone his shirt🥺
🐙poor thing couldn’t figure out what to do when they first arrived; go swimming? Build a sandcastle? Collect shells? Stare at the fish and other sea creatures showing themselves in the water? Nope, he decided on doing what he does best, piss off Deidara
🐬doesn’t even mean to do so, deidara is as explosive as his art so of course he’s going to get mad when Tobi accidentally gets sand in his hair.
🐋would retreat far into the ocean on a floaty, avoiding Tobi as much as possible. His hair would be tied up into a bun to keep the sea water from drying it out. Would most likely be those floaties with the little cup holder in it, probably with a beer can or sake in it.
🦭Sasori my man, I can imagine him working on a sandcastle. Using his skills to make a large one with details that would be tedious to anybody but him.
🦐he would volunteer to run up to the shops to grab things his comrades may want. No matter how small or stupid that item might be. Would buy small toys and presents in the gifts shops for everyone. He really enjoys walking through the board walk, will take a break and hang out on the pier for a bit before returning to the group.
🐚the zombie combo would both be talking and trying to pick up the gorgeous women who also decided to head to the beach that day. Hidan of course would be much more outgoing and flamboyant about it. Showing off his muscles and abs.
🐠Kakuzu on the other hand, all he’s gotta do is show off that one smirk of his to have them hypnotized. Wouldn’t care if one of them felt up on his scars or touched his hair. He won’t voice it, not even to Hidan, but he enjoys the attention, even if nothing comes of it.
🦈oh boy Kisame. Do I really have to say anything? As you said, he’d be THRIVING.
🦈would be moving through the water with ease, not even a ripple would be seen as he swims. Within minutes, sharks and other large sea animals would be seen following him around. He’d be so cute about it too, feeding them random shit he’d find, knowing what they want, or giving the sharks little boops on their noses(you can’t tell me you don’t see him doing this) and would be the main one to eat like 90% of the food Konan packed. She would make him join Sasori when going to the shops so he can stock up on everything he devoured.
🦞our sweet boy Itachi would pop into the water for a little bit before wandering off to the tide pools. He would find a patch of sand to sit on, watching as the sea stars and small fish go about their business as they wait for the tide to come back in
🪸would eventually get tired of being in the sun and lay out a towel next to Konan to hang out under the umbrella. They would talk or sit in silence, depends on how either of them are feeling that day.
•snake boy orochimaru would LATHER himself in sunscreen, you see how pale he is? (No offense, i love him) and he would also wear sunglasses to protect his eyes.
🌊I could see him complaining about the sun and trying to avoid it like the plague, acting as if the sun is the worst thing imaginable. Not one to express his feelings well if at all and uses his complaints to hide the fact that he’s actually having the time of his life. Would put a fish or eel in a jar, wanting to bring it back to the compound to keep as a pet until Konan tells him release it. Promising to take him to a pet store to get one there instead.
☀️towards the end of the day, moving into the early evening the whole group would play volleyball or fuck around in the water, splashing each other until everybody’s out of breath.

“Jolly creatures, small girls, Jeeves”
Good day everybody! Last night I received the second part of "Bertie Changes His Mind" from Jeeves and I laughed so hard that I had to take some hours to write a post.
“Jolly creatures, small girls, Jeeves,” he remarked, after a pause. “Extremely so, sir.” “Of course, I can imagine some fellows finding them a bit exhausting in—er—” “En masse, sir?” “That’s the word. A bit exhausting en masse.”
Girls schools can be very noisy but there are less chances of being pushed by a student than in co-ed and more less than in all-boys. Trust me, I'm a scientist (?) And Jeeves knows that.
“I’d no idea small girls were such demons.” “More deadly than the male, sir.”
Yep, that's true.
“We love it when there are lectures. We sit and stare at the poor dears, and try to make them dry up. There was a man last term who got hiccups. Oh, do you think Mr. Wooster will get hiccups?” “We can but hope for the best, miss.” “It would be such a lark, wouldn’t it?” “Highly enjoyable, miss.”
Bertie, dear~ you don't know what is waiting for you! At least the girls are sitting so they look smaller and less intimidating.
Tumblr media
The car is not working (well, it does, but Bertie doesn't know) so Wooster can't escape. Jeeves, you are a brilliant mastermind.
I’m fond of Mr. Wooster, and I admit I came very near to melting as I looked at his face. He was staring at me in a sort of dumb despair that would have touched anybody.
Aww~ Jeeves is fond of Wooster! that doesn't make your plan less naughty.
Mr. Wooster is a young gentleman with practically every desirable quality except one. I do not mean brains, for in an employer brains are not desirable. The quality to which I allude is hard to define, but perhaps I might call it the gift of dealing with the Unusual Situation. In the presence of the Unusual, Mr. Wooster is too prone to smile weakly and allow his eyes to protrude. He lacks Presence.
I need to learn how to roast somebody in such an elegant way!
Tumblr media
Love the illustration of this letter. You can feel the fear in Bertie. Too many girls looking at him and waiting for a speech. Sadly his valet is busy spying him repairing the car.
Tumblr media
The cigarettes case? Jeeves has it but it's empty, the cigarettes are in hand of Peggy and her classmates. All of this is the perfect mix for a disaster, and the Woosters know how to deal with that:
“Jeeves!” “Sir?” “Get a move on! Start her up! Get going and keep going!” I trod on the self-starter. “It would perhaps be safest to drive carefully until we are out of the school grounds, sir,” I said. “I might run over one of the young ladies, sir.” “Well, what’s the objection to that?” demanded Mr. Wooster, with extraordinary bitterness. “Or even Miss Tomlinson, sir.” “Don’t!” said Mr. Wooster, wistfully. “You make my mouth water!”
This story opened the Pandora box of my memories in an all-girls school: Girls greeting as a chorus? that's was more notorius than in other co-ed schools. Speech from visitors? yeah, I saw that many times. Visitors getting nervous with a bunch of girls? yeah, that too, mostly men. Singing the school song? I still remember it. Girls stealing cigarettes? yeah, I saw that! I still remember the long reprimands to all the classroom because a teacher found a bathroom smelling like cigarettes.
At least now Bertie values more his bachelor and childless life with Jeeves at his side. Cheers!

the front bottoms—various lyrics sentence starters.
some lines adjusted to fit; feel free to change pronouns, proper nouns, etc. as needed
am i getting into heaven? there’s no fucking way.
i would sleep better on your floor than i ever would in my bed.
learn to accept that the things we have now are the best we've had yet.
your friends are here and they miss you, but they’ll eventually move on.
i will always think about you, ‘cause you remind me of who i am.
i’ve tried and i gave everything i had, but i just gave up.
what we have is nowhere near as good as what we should have by now.
it's okay to give up, 'cause nobody here could care less.
time is running out and i need to choose, the clock is moving faster than it used to.
they say face your fears, but i can't stop running.
i'm scared i'm gonna die as lonely as i feel.
it's okay if you're unhappy—just take a look around. there's no one here that's happy either.
the only thing that'd shut me up now is your hands around my throat.
if i tell you all my secrets, would you tell me all your lies?
i have stitched a mask of confidence and i wear it like a glove.
no one's going to listen ‘til you mean every word you say, so if you can't find the feeling, you better learn to lie—and if you know we're gonna fail, then there's little point to try.
i can't get what i need, and you're all i need.
there are certain things you ask of me, but there are certain things i lack.
you say i'm changing—sorry, i didn't know i had to stay the same.
i think you're changing, but don't worry—you don't have to stay the same.
i shouldn't feel like i have to protect you.
at my funeral, don't lie. tell them i didn’t want to die.
i understand that everybody's got their problems, but you seem to have a little more than anybody.
there are things i think we'll come to regret, and the majority of them are dealing with me.
i used to love the taste, i'd do anything for it—now i'd do anything to get the taste out of my mouth.
what about your friends? don't you love them enough to stay?
it probably won't get easier, just easier to hide—prepare for an aching the rest of your life.
i have this dream that i am hitting my dad with a baseball bat, and he is screaming and crying for help—and maybe halfway through it has more to do with me killing him than it ever did protecting myself.
i believe that, yeah, maybe no one's perfect—but i believe that you're pushing your luck.
there's no doubt in my mind that if you could, then you would try to crack my ribcage open and pull my heart right through.
i've been around long enough now to know that the good things never last.
how low is your self esteem? how low could it possibly be?
i know you're in love with me, and i've been ignoring you.
i’m alone only half of the time, and the other half, i’m only hiding.
i got miles to go 'til i ever get home, but the sound of your laugh and your voice on the phone makes me feel like i’m already there.
hey man, i love you, but no fucking way.
make sure you kiss your knuckles before you punch me in the face.
the good thing about this cast is i can still hold a knife, so if you ever twist my arm again, i'll be sure to put up a fight.
the past few months were pretty rough; a couple times i wished we both were dead.
just try to appreciate what you got while you got it, so if it ever goes away, you can say you enjoyed it while it lasted.
i don't regret it—how could i? you were the best i ever had.
i wish i could pretend to be all of the things you think you see in me.
i don’t care if you’re not sorry; i forgive you.
the farther you go from where you start, the harder it is to get back.
just because something burns bright doesn't mean it's gonna burn forever.
don't feel bad for me, because i won't feel bad for you.
when i wake up, i think of you.
it doesn't get worse, and it doesn't get better; you just get old—it lasts forever.
no one saw me the way you did, and no one's seen me that way since.
i know that no news is good news, but that’s always felt backwards.
i’m bound by love, born to obey.
you are the truth i choose to bend myself around.
a long time ago i promised that if you were happy, then i was happy.
don't take it easy on the animal—i am the animal.
sometimes things work out perfectly when there's nothing to lose.
i don't know where i am, but i've been here before.
i'm sorry for your loss, there's not much i can do.
i could see myself dying for you.
we're both trying, you gotta give us that.
why don't you put your boxing gloves on and punch your punching bag, get some of this rage out you have deep inside of you—you’ll feel better, that's the point.
there was resentment built up that was never expressed properly.
you seem to see through whatever it is about me that's trying to be tough.
this is the fear i was born into, it somehow still affects me today.
it may or may not seem like you're leaving me behind, and it may or may not be always on my mind.
i don’t wanna put a curse on myself—i don’t wanna put a curse on you either.
you don't have to try so hard to not see me around.
the more you give, the worse it gets.
i wanna be good to the people that i love—i want them to think of me as someone that they can trust.
i wanna settle down—i want you to settle down with me.

Resident Evil 2 (1998) Starters
"I told you, it's my job to look after you."
"Hey, we've still got a job to do."
"You are tenacious, I'll give you that."
"You'll be in danger if you decide to stay with me."
"We're a team. I can't just leave you behind."
"Hey, it's up to us to take out [blank]!"
"Quiet, [name]. I'll patch you up."
"What happened? You're bleeding!"
"But you've been shot!"
"Alright, we'll do this your way. For now."
"Let's just get out of here. The sooner, the better."
"If I have to go, I'm going to take you with me."
"Look, if you wanna live, then you're gonna have to leave with me."
"I really wanted to escape with you... escape from everything."
"Don't worry, I'll protect you. But you have to make sure you don't leave my side."
"Is it just me, or does everybody always ignore what I say?"
"What's the matter? Don't you trust me?"
"Wait, [name]! Don't go alone!"
"[name]! [name], wait! Wait! Man, why doesn't anyone ever listen to me?"
"[name]! What was that all about? Running off like that was reckless and stupid."
"I know I've only known you for a short period, but I really enjoy being with you."
"Man, what a mess. What could have done this?"
"Now what's wrong? Is something following us?"
"Alright, that's far enough. Don't move... Don't move!"
"Easy, easy there. I'm not a zombie! You're safe now."
"I guess we all made it."
"It's good to see you're still among the living."
"Sorry about that. I thought you were one of them."
"Just who are you? No. Don't bother telling me. It makes no difference."
"Is this the guy?"
"Lemme guess, you must be [name], right? Get up. Now."
"Come and get me, I'm right here!"
"Hold your fire! I'm a human!"
"I don't know anything. And even if I did, why would I wanna tell you?"
"Sorry, but I won't just hand over my life's work."
"Get away from me. You just want [blank], don't you? But no one will take that away from me. No one..."
"That's okay, you keep it. I'm sure it will keep you safe."
"I was there, [name]. I know."
"Shut up. You couldn't possibly understand what's happened."
"You killed [name]! I'll never forgive you for that!"
"What do you want? I'm trying to sleep here."
"You're right. This is just the beginning."

PERCY JACKSON AND THE LAST OLYMPIAN: STARTERS
a collection of quotes, phrases, and sayings from the 2009 Rick Riordan novel, Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian. change & alter as needed.
"He's trying to be nice to me, which is almost worse."
"So, hypothetically, if these two people liked each other, what would it take to get the stupid guy to kiss the girl, huh?"
"So I guess you guys have to go save the world now."
"You can't count on friends. They will always let you down."
"They don't show you stuff like that in The Little Mermaid."
"He's a pretty nice guy, but you should always keep one hand on your wallet when he's around, and do not, under any circumstances, give him access to shaving cream unless you want to find your sleeping bag full of it."
"If I die, I die. I can't worry about that, right?"
"Are you still having bad dreams? Headaches?"
"I should never have told you about that."
"You run away from things when you're scared."
"You could honor [name]'s memory by fighting with us."
"You can't prevent a prophecy."
"[Name], at least be safe. Promise me you'll be safe."
"If you ever need a warm place to sit and a home-cooked meal, you are welcome to visit."
"You are a good hero, [full name]. Not too proud. I like that. But you have much to learn."
"They don't serve very good enchiladas in the wilderness."
"As I recall, in the old times we almost died a lot."
"Excuse me, but if you're going to kill me, could you just get on with it?"
"With great power comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later."
"You'll do well, [name]. Just remember your strengths, and beware your weaknesses."
"My family hates me. They don't want me. I ran away."
"I tell you what, [name] — you're pretty fierce. We could use a fighter like you."
"Knives are only for the bravest and quickest fighters. They don't have the reach or power of a sword, but they're easy to conceal and they can find weak spots in your enemy's armor. It takes a clever warrior to use a knife. I have a feeling you're pretty clever."
"You're part of our family now. And I promise I won't let anything hurt you."
"Can we go back to the battle now? I want to do laser mode again. That was fun."
"You should've saved him when you had the chance. You're the only one who could have."
"Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?!"
"[Name], this is serious! You are not going to loot a candy store in the middle of a war!"
"Just be careful. I don't want anything to happen to you. ...I mean, because we need you for the battle."
"Are you trying to get yourself killed, kid? Or are you just extra stupid?"
"Don't I get a kiss for luck? It's kind of a tradition, right?"
"Didn't I kill you already?"
"You're cute when you're worried. Your eyebrows get all scrunched together."
"You are not going to die while I owe you a favor."
"You would have done the same for me."
"And just what do you think you're doing?"
"We'll have to work on your bunny phobia later."
"Oh, demons aren't so bad. You just have to keep them well-fed."
"Your courage does you credit, [full name]."
"The children of the gods must find their own way."
"So it was for my own good? Growing up on the streets, fending for myself, fighting monsters?"
"If I know anything, I know that you must walk your own path, even though it tears my heart."
"I'll bonk him on the head harder next time."
"I don't want him to hurt you anymore."
"And you'll understand if I keep hoping there's a chance you're wrong."
"I didn't know you could fly a helicopter."
"Everybody keeps telling me to sleep. I don't need sleep."
"You know what would help this boy? Farming. Six months behind a plow. Excellent character-building."
"On second thought, I'll be inside."
"That's what I do. I help my friends."
"He promised I was saving lives. Fewer people would get hurt."
"Well... sure good to be together again. Arguing. Almost dying. Abject terror."
"You and me, that wasn't part of it. Our fates aren't intertwined. I think you've always known that, deep down."
"Is it too late to join the party?"
"Do you love death so much you wish to experience it?"
"I hope that was a monster I just killed."
"I survive all those battles, and I get defeated by a stupid chunk of rock?!"
"You were like a brother to me, [name]. But I didn't love you."
"I hope... I hope you know I'm really proud to  be your friend."
"No hero is above fear, [name]. And you have risen above every hero."
"Nobody's planning to kill us so far."
"Make us a city for the ages."
"It's just... I've got a lot of life left to live. I'd hate to peak in my sophomore year."
"[Full name], I have had my doubts about you, but perhaps... perhaps I was mistaken."
"[Full name], you might just teach us a thing or two."

DK is positive that if he sneezed, the puff of air that shoots out of his nose would be strong enough to knock over the guy he is currently helping hold steady.
But Kim Mingyu — tall, lanky, and irrationally stubborn, refuses to accept help from his obviously more capable roommate. He stands on his makeshift stepladder and attempts to shimmy out his giant hard-shell suitcase he somehow managed to store at the top of his closet the day he moved into the dorm. However, the only thing Mingyu seems to be taking out of his closet is the dust that collected on top of his belongings. And DK is trying his very best not to sneeze.
Who would have thought that Kim Mingyu would be built like one of those wavy inflatable tube guys you see while driving past car dealerships on the highway? His little self-intro on the university roommates request page painted him to be an outgoing type of guy — likes photography, running, and dogs; dislikes people who are rude to waiters, bad vibes, and heights. His profile picture was an aesthetic photo of him in some art museum in Europe. Mingyu turned out to be exactly who and how he described himself. However, had DK or Minghao known their literal pre-serum Steve Roger roommate wasn’t who they thought him to physically be, they would’ve assigned him to the loft bed with the standing closet when they were deciding bedspaces before moving into their dorms.
Now, DK can only stand behind his roommate with his two hands gripped firmly around the wooden chair’s backrest and hope the suitcase doesn’t take his roommate out before the mosquitos from wherever Mingyu is heading do.
For starters, it’s hard to believe a college sophomore — one who has to sleep on the bottom bunk because the floor is closer to the humidifier — is going on a journey to some place where he probably couldn’t restock on his precious Aquaphor that he has to slug onto his cracked heels every night and then protect with his aloe-infused fluffy bed socks. Mingyu is physically weak. He is like a Basset Hound puppy who keeps tripping on its long ears because it still needs to grow into them. He is a Victorian child experiencing EDM for the first time. He is the university dormitory Wi-Fi when everybody is back from vacation. A Lego Man figurine is probably more built than Kim Mingyu in every single physical aspect — and that is not an overstatement.
And his luck…Oh, how unlucky Kim Mingyu can be at times.
Minghao, their third roommate, tells Mingyu it’s puberty. But Kim Mingyu and his hardheaded personality firmly believes he is the unluckiest man in the world. Puberty, Minghao reminds him. He’s simply going through puberty. It just doesn’t seem like it because his growth spurt arrived ages before his puberty did. Mingyu digresses. He always digresses.
It is a bunch of small, often uncomfortable or inconvenient, occurrences bundled into one that leads Mingyu to believe he has somehow been cursed. Setting off the fire alarm after using the new microwave in their floor’s common room? In reality, some kid snuck in an illegal rice cooker and forgot to open the window while cooking some rice in his dorm room. Sleeping past an alarm the day after he accidentally stepped on a crack in the sidewalk? He didn’t know he accidentally set his alarm as P.M. instead of A.M.. His clumsiness? He wears clothes in sizes either too big or too small for his body. He’s never heard of tailoring before.
Mingyu claims his curse started when he was dared to download an Ouija Board app on his phone on the bus ride home from one of his high school field trips. DK reminds him that where there is a cause, there is an effect. It just so happens that Mingyu doesn’t realize that he is his own cause of his string of “bad luck.”
So, when Mingyu abruptly announces to his two roommates that he’s leaving in the middle of the semester for some Eat, Pray, Love type of trip with his rich aunt, the two roommates can only ask why and whether or not dormitory rent is going to be more expensive given that there would technically only be two roommates instead of three:
“I dunno-” Mingyu picks up his sub, trying to adjust his grip so the tomato slices don’t slip out when he takes a bite. “I think it’ll be a nice change.”
DK gawks at him while Minghao looks through his canvas tote bag for a hair tie. Mingyu shrugs and brings the sandwich to his lips. A thin and bright red tomato slice slips out from the backend of the sandwich and lands on the ceramic plate below. Mingyu sighs and sets his sandwich back down on his plate and opens it to tuck the tomato slice back into place.
The most level-headed of the trio, DK, stares at the guy who sleeps below him reattempt to take a successful bite of his sandwich. Minghao, whose long hair is now tied in a manbun, twirls his fork around his plate of limp spaghetti.
“You know it’s bad for your scalp if you tie your hair too tightly.” Mingyu gestures to his own head to show Minghao. There are bread crumbs in the corner of his lips, and some sauce on his fingers. He brings his fingers to his mouth and licks them clean before taking another bite.
Minghao ignores him and stares outside the window at the family of ducks making their way into the shade outside of the dormitory dining hall.
A nice change is what newly divorced couples say in movies. A nice change is giving your childhood bedroom a makeover. A nice change is when Mingyu can finally take off his damn braces so he doesn’t spit on people while he talks. DK reckons it’s because Mingyu is having trouble adjusting to adulthood. He’s a second-year going through what Minghao calls a “prolonged puberty experience,” but DK thinks that all Mingyu needs is time. He has the braces, the lisp, and the inability to act normal in front of crushes. It’s normal. Everybody moves at their own pace. DK thinks that all Mingyu really needs is a little confidence and a major glow-up.
“You said you’re going with your aunt?” DK pinches a fry between his fingers and decides to drop it back down. “What about our dorm and school?”
Outside the dining hall, a Resident Director leads a group of elementary school students on a tour around the dormitory area. The students look around the several tall dormitories and point at the ducks when they see them. The teachers who walk behind their students are too busy staring at their phones to care if the students chase after the animals.
“Hey, do you think ducks are easy to pick up?” Xu Minghao gently sets his fork down and cups his hands, placing them side-by-side. He looks at his imaginary bowl and ponders out loud, “They look like they’ll fit perfectly in my hands, yunno. Perfectly scoopable.”
“My aunt isn’t married and doesn’t have any kids so she says she’ll give me her money if I travel with her.” Mingyu chews with his mouth open and pauses to wash it down with some milk, ignoring Minghao’s question. Or maybe he didn’t hear the question over his loud chewing. He exhales and wipes his mouth with the back of his hand. “Something about going on a journey to prove that material wealth isn’t all there is in the world.”
Having lost his appetite from looking at his roommate, DK pushes his plate of fries away from him. He asks Mingyu, “Isn’t it counterproductive because you need money to travel the world?”
“Ehh.” Mingyu slinks in his seat, but reaches over to grab some of the abandoned fries. “But don’t worry about my grades. I’ll be studying abroad and will probably be back in time for graduation. Hopefully my credits can transfer. And my aunt is paying for my dorm so you guys don’t have to worry about paying more.”
“And the school is okay with you paying even through you’re not going to be here?”
“Universities don’t care as long as they’re earning money,” Minghao huffs and stabs a meatball with his fork. “But God forbid I take more than three free yoga classes at the rec center and all of a sudden I’m banned for the rest of the month.”
A new group of friends set their bags down at the table next to where the trio are sitting. One of them seems to recognize DK and politely waves at him before catching up with their friends to line up for food. DK smiles and waves back — he only met them a few days ago.
“I- I think taking that trip will be good for me,” Mingyu stutters when he realizes he has been staring at DK’s friend who waved the entire time. His eyes quickly travel back to looking at his best friend’s fries. He fidgets his fingers before reaching for another one, trying not to make it obvious that his cheeks are not glowing red just because of the inflammation from his acne. “Maybe I can meet some new people, learn a few things, and bulk up from all the traveling I’ll be doing.”
In the present, Minghao opens the dorm door and enters with a duck tucked under his arm, American football style. He makes his way over to his desk and drops off a few textbooks. From behind the chair he is helping hold steady, DK swears the duck looked at him straight in the eye.
“Yn said you should come to the beach hangout on Saturday,” Minghao tells DK while grabbing his water bottle and yoga mat.
“I’ll think about it,” DK replies while staring at the duck who seems perfectly content with being held by the Second Year.
“Who’s Yn?” Mingyu calls from his uncomfortable position above the chair. He thinks he finally found a way to pull out his suitcase without his roommate’s help.
Minghao shrugs and swings the mat over his shoulder, choosing to completely ignore his roommate’s question. The duck quacks, and Minghao waves goodbye before exiting their shared room.
Mingyu, who finally and successfully managed to start pulling out his suitcase from an angle, sneezes from the falling dust and pushes the suitcase back into place.
“Bad luck,” he mumbles to himself. “Bad luck.”

1993 - Shannen Doherty portrayed by Davis Factor for the April 23, 1993 issue of Entertainment Weekly, featuring her on the cover.
Celebrity Hell
SHANNEN DOHERTY FEELS THE BURN
90210's fallen angel wants to heal her singed reputation. We show her (and other bedeviled stars) how to climb the stairway to heaven
By Lisa Schwartzaum.
THE CAREER CHALLENGES facing Shannen Doherty are these: How can she convince a skeptical public that she is not the tantrum-throwing prima donna, impoverished spendthrift, and out- of-control Hollywood headache that a barrage of reports in the higher and lower echelons of journalistic enterprise have made her out to be? How can the young star of Beverly Hills, 90210 redeem Brenda Walsh, her TV character, from the purgatory into which she has descended, wan and bereft of her broody boyfriend, Dylan McKay, and mocked by former fans who once loved wholesome Brenda but who now, at the end of the show's third season, hate her for her moody, goody-goody, expensively dressed ways? How can the small, pale, 22-year-old Southern Baptist from Memphis, Tenn., get everybody off her case?
For starters, she can settle in with a plate of french fries and a pack of Marlboro Lights and a cup of cappuccino and start confessing. About her money troubles. About how she knows she truly ought to stop smoking, since cancer runs in her family and the habit is turning her teeth yellow and will eventually make her fine skin look old. She can roast the old anti-Shannen chestnuts: that she slugged a woman in a bar; that she pitches fits to such an extent that she appeared as a joke in last week's Doonesbury. She can accept some blame.
Which is what she did – just as 90210 began its three-month spring hiatus this month and shortly before she left for a week's Hawaiian vacation with her live-in boyfriend, photo-studio owner Dean Factor, 28 (of the Max Factor cosmetics family), and with friend and 90210 classmate Tori Spelling, 19, and her beau, would-be actor Nick Savalas, 19. (Also planned for the break: starting work on Blindfold, a feature starring Judd Nelson; and attending a Grateful Dead concert.)

In fact, Shannen Doherty – who first found fame a decade ago on TV's Little House on the Prairie and went on to torment Winona Ryder as a bitchy high school snob in the 1989 film Heathers – talked and talked and talked, as if her career depended on it. And now we talk back, with a tailor-made image-rehab plan for the woman who inspired The I Hate Brenda Newsletter: (Will Brenda go to the University of Minesota and be written out of the series next season? Get real.)
If you can't pay cash, you can't afford it. On the one hand, Doherty admits to running up major bills (some reports put her debt at over $36,000). On the other hand, Doherty says she's paying it off – and insists she's no pauper. "I'm really fed up with people printing how much I make, especially when they get it wrong," she says. "I do not make $12,000 a week. I make a lot more money than $12,000 a week. But I'm in the highest tax bracket, and I have, you know, attorneys to pay for. And, granted, I have gone on shopping binges. When you're young and all you know is how much money you make a week, you don't necessarily start thinking about, you know, everything that comes out of it." Splitting the rent on the Beverly Hills Cape Cod-style house she now shares with Factor will cut expenses, but there's still $13,000 in dispute on her former house, which the landlord claims is owed as back rent and which Doherty claims represents the security deposit and lease option owed to her. "I didn't get thrown out of my house," she says defiantly. "Otherwise I wouldn't still have the keys." The case is currently being litigated. Limiting herself to one Mercedes instead of two will also save a bit, although reports that several cars have been repossessed is just exhaust, she says. She authorized the repo of a 500 SL she had leased for an ex-boyfriend ("a car that I wasn't even driving, and for somebody that I wasn't even going out with"). "If I had all these problems with my leasing company, why am I able to drive around in a Mercedes that I leased through them right now?" Doherty challenges. "If I had all these financial problems, there's absolutely no way in hell a bank would finance an $80,000 car."

2. The Donna Reed routine is refreshing. Keep it up. "My boyfriend and I are both sort of through with doing the night-club scene and partying and drinking," says Doherty, who has often been photographed carousing (usually with Spelling and accompanying escorts) at L.A.'s trendy club, Roxbury. "Clubbing was a big part of me, but I think it's because I was a little lost. I was young and under a lot of pressure and unhappy in my personal relationship. I don't have that problem anymore." She now describes an idyllic life of cooking chicken dinners with Factor and playing with her three dogs. Staying home should help her bottom line, too: After she made headlines like BRAWLING STARLET BUSTED last December for tangling at Roxbury with lesser-known actress Bonita Money (charges were eventually dropped), she says she lost at least three product-endorsement deals.
3. Shock your public: Say you're sorry! "I will grant that in the first season, I was not the most diplomatic person. But I did not throw temper tantrums. I went days and days and days without having a fit! Weeks!" says Doherty, with a laugh. "You know, right now I feel very much in control. Besides," she adds, more wishful, perhaps, than sure, "there are a lot of people out there who are getting very, very sick of Brenda bashing. People come up to me and go, like, 'We thought you'd be a bitch, we just wanted to come up and see if you were or weren't. And you're not." (The 90210 cast, having offered supportive comments in the past, is now tired of being asked about her; Doherty's recently fired publicist gives a terse "no comment" on her former client.)

4. Lighten up. That goes for Shannen and Brenda. Doherty is deeply steamed about the jokey one-shot I Hate Brenda Newsletter, which rode a wave of anti-Brenda/Shannen sentiment and showered considerable media attention on its two young creators. "It's ridiculous," she says, non-temper flaring, "that two girls, wherever they are, are so incredibly jealous of one person who happens to be on TV and are so desperate for publicity that they would create lies." But she can see how one might think Brenda is a pill. "The [90210] writers and I have had this conversation," she says. "Let's make her not quite so pathetic, let's have her mellow out.' And that is happening. You'll see Brenda spiritually become a little bit of a stronger person." (Of late, Brenda is looking spiritually subdued: humble in washed-out lipstick tones and more modestly dressed.)
5. Do not do that Playboy pictorial. She's thinking about it, negotiating with the magazine over how much of her body she'd expose. "They offered me a very large sum of money – over $300,000 – which I think anybody would have a very hard time turning down," she explains. "Besides, it might make people say, hey, she's not Brenda Walsh, she is Shannen Doherty, and she can play a lot older than 17 and high school." We repeat: Don't do it. If you pose, you will share that undistinguished honor with Mimi Rogers. La Toya Jackson. Joan Collins. Vanna White. And you'll never, ever win back Dylan McKay.
