It’s been 9 months with my mini miracles! Layla and Rahim are the cutest. I love seeing them together, talking in their own language and mirroring each other. They’ve come a long way!

Today is Aaliyah’s 6th birthday! Aaliyah is the kindest girl and loves to get to know people! She can strike up a chat with anyone no matter their age or background and always ends her conversations with “God bless you”! I’m so proud that this sweet little soul is my daughter.

The first girl out was a brunette in a neon blue one-piece named Emily. She was a twenty-year-old accounting student who struck Gary as someone who hated even the idea of ‘fading into the background’, and she immediately seemed to set her sights on Jakub.  Why was anyone’s guess.  Next was Shannon, a professional poker player whose confident strut had Rahim standing up straighter next to Gary. She gained a few extra points in Gary’s book when she winked right at Rahim during her introduction and deftly saved the conversation when Rahim fumbled a compliment.  His mate’s chat wasn’t getting better, but Shannon didn’t seem to mind.  It was kind of cute, really, and judging by the giddy smile on Rahim’s face, things were finally looking up for his mate.  After Shannon was Siobhan, a tall, gorgeous graphic artist from Dublin, who had winked at both Bobby and Jakub.  Then there was Masie, a schoolteacher who seemed frightened of everything around her, actively trying to fade behind Emily. Who, oddly enough, seemed to have taken a liking to Masie despite the two of them being complete opposites.  But then…then came Hazel.  On Gary’s other side where Noah had been staring off into space, completely not present in the moment, the librarian’s jaw dropped when Hazel introduced herself.  “She…” Gary muttered from the corner of his mouth.  “She looks just like Hope,” Noah finished for him, stunned.  It was…uncanny. Bizarre, even. Hazel and Hope, beyond having the same first initial, could have actually passed for twins. Fuck, wouldn’t that be both insanely cliche and just their luck if it was in fact the case?

WIP Wednesday!

The fic I'm working on (What I Did For Love) actually started out as a reunion one-shot for a prompt competition. I'd bitten off more than I could chew and didn't manage to finish it, but it gave me the push I needed to begin. I could see where my fic was headed, at the very least. *And* I have parts of a future chapter or two written.

The reunion is Halloween-themed and hosted at the White Tower in London, so it's perfect to share today, being spooky season an' all. Some things have changed since I wrote this; for instance, Rahim is voted out early in my fic, so Henry VIII doesn't make much sense for him. 😂 I've also grown as a writer...some of this is pretty darn clunky, I'm not gonna lie. It's definitely a WIP, and that P doesn't stand for "polished."

Anyway! Enjoy Vivian as a sexy Mrs. Peacock and Carl as Professor Plum. (I cannot resist a man in tweed.)

The day of the Halloween-themed reunion has arrived. The producers had put everyone up in different hotels across the city, so no one would run into each other. (They obviously want any drama to happen on camera.) They’d also helped us Islanders out with costumes, which was a relief. I jokingly told Carl they probably only did it to make sure everyone looked sexy enough.   Our costumes had arrived the day before, to ensure everything fit properly. Carl was going as Professor Plum from the Clue board game, after being talked out of going as Spock. I was Mrs. Peacock, but the sexiest Mrs. Peacock I’d ever seen. I rolled my eyes the first time I pulled out the costume.  We didn’t know who else was going as Clue characters, or what everyone else would be doing. “If they didn’t give Miss Scarlet to Priya, someone ought to be fired,” I said to Carl.  “Yes, and Gary has got to be Colonel Mustard!”   Carl looks so handsome in his tweed suit, sweater vest, and bowtie. Others may not think it’s sexy, but damn, those elbow patches really do something to me.   “Don’t give me those bedroom eyes, Curls. We haven’t the time!” he admonishes and puts the professor’s pipe in his mouth for emphasis.   “Damn,” I mutter under my breath.   My own costume is some sort of burlesque-looking corset with a feather skirt tied over my waist, open in front to show my legs in fishnet stockings. I’ve put my hair in an updo, my copper curls escaping here and there, with a beautiful peacock-feathered fascinator to complete the look. I think I look ridiculous, but the rising bulge in Carl’s tweed slacks tells me he thinks otherwise.  I meet his gaze and raise an eyebrow with a cheeky smirk. He blushes and clears his throat.   “Right. Well. We don’t have time, more’s the pity,” he says with a shrug, pushing his fake glasses up his nose. Damn, he’s really got this hot 1930s professor thing down, without even trying.   “Well, who knows? Maybe there’ll be a Hideaway.” *****   The car drops us off at the Tower of London—incredibly, the reunion is being held at the White Tower. The moment Carl and I found out, we were on the phone, giddy with excitement as only two history buffs can be.   We’re greeted by a couple producers who give us the basic schedule and put our mic packs on. I hadn’t missed these, but at least they blend in with our outfits now. They tell us they’ve had our arrivals staggered and we’re among the last to arrive. After testing our mics, they point us to the doors of the White Tower.   Carl holds out his hand for me to take and we walk in together.   The main hall upstairs is amazing, all lit up with soft, warm colours and candlelight in the main areas and red or blue lights in the cozy nooks. Each nook has an overstuffed sofa and armchairs, perfect for intimate chats or a small gathering of friends. There’s a string quartet, who look like they could be a punk band, playing a decent mix of pop and classical music. The suits of armour displayed in the White Tower look amazing in this setting. Henry VIII could never. 

“Oh, wow,” we say in unison, right before we’re besieged by pink silks and taffeta and velvet squealing into our ears. I can’t see her face yet, but I know it’s Chelsea.  “Baaaaaabes! Oh, I’ve missed you both so much!”  “Chelseeeaaaa!” I hug her tight, then pull away to get a better look at her costume. It’s definitely some sort of a Tudor costume, but in anachronistic pinks. And with a modern sexy take. “You are…?” “Katherine Howard, bra!” She twirls around for me, and I see the make-up effects that make her look as though her head has been chopped off and placed back on. “I told them I’d do it if I could be in pink.”  “You are the perfect Katherine Howard,” Carl smiles. “Just don’t cheat on your husband, and you should be fine,” I add with a laugh.  “Eek!” She pretends to cut her head off with her hand. “And you two are from Cluedo! I think the rest of your group is already here. I’m still waiting on a couple wives, but my Henry is here,” she says as she points to Ibrahim as Henry VIII.  Carl and I both laugh. It’s a fitting character, considering how many people Rahim coupled up with on the show. And it looks as though Jo is one of the wives. Anne of Cleves, if I’m not mistaken. The producers certainly have a sense of humour. (I’m pretty good with my Tudor history. Not exactly something to brag about in Love Island circles.)  Chelsea takes our hands and leads us straight to the bar, bless her. They’ve created specialty drinks for the reunion, based on a lot of our characters. Naturally, we choose our namesake drinks: Professor Plum’s is some sort of hot toddy that turns purple when the angostura bitters is put in, and Mrs. Peacock’s is a fizzy concoction with Crème de Violette.  “Cheers, Mrs. Peacock,” Carl says before clinking my coupe glass.  “Cheers, Professor.”  We take a sip and both raise our eyebrows—these are pretty good!  “Well, well, well…look what we have here!”  We turn to see Gary, arms outstretched, waiting to give me a big bear hug. I gladly step into his embrace and place a kiss on his cheek, his fake handlebar moustache tickling my skin. He and Carl warmly shake hands.  “Oh, my god, Carl was right.”  “What?” Gary asks.  “You are Colonel Mustard!” He gives us a sheepish grin. “Yeah. I mean, it’s not as cool as Henry VIII over there, but Colonel Mustard is a right sort of chap. Even if they wouldn’t give me a rifle to carry around.”

Which s2 characters (Lurik, Noah, Ibrahim) would willing to apologize and making up to MC FIRST after they switched post casa amor?

Ohhh that's such a good ask, and I immediately think Henrik would be the first to apologise. Henrik isn't nearly stubborn or proud enough to want to be broody for a few days, unlike Lucas, and is much more open to confronting his own feelings, unlike Noah and Rahim. So yeah, Henrik would very quickly want to chat with MC about it, apologise, and make it up to her in whatever way he can. Meanwhile, I feel like Lucas would act a bit "cold" at first just because he's so anxious about having fucked up, but I think he'd apologise once he can't stay away from MC any longer. I simply think he'd try to act all "cool" while he's secretly squirming on the inside, until he lets MC know he really still wants her and will do whatever he can to prove it.

Noah and Rahim would probably apologise, but in a defeated way that makes it clear they both think they've lost MC forever. These two are not exactly quick to forgive themselves, and the punishment they tend to inflict on themselves will keep them from making it up to MC immediately. If MC makes it clear she's willing to give them another chance I think Rahim will be the first one to do something grand and romantic to make it up to her. Noah, however, would probably be the last one to take the hint... poor guy (and poor MC).

rahim: headcanons

(listen, i thought i had posted and queued this last year, like around june, and as it turns out it was stored in my google drive, so rahim stans, sorry about that!)

⛳ after having a discussion with @itsrealityboo we can agree the imagery of rahim with a petit dog is e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. while the dog gives him kisses he can’t help but giggle while it happens. STOP.

⛳ i reckon he prefers apartments over houses. like @itsrealityboo said, "I think he wants luxury but doesn't want to deal with the additional upkeep that comes with a stand alone house." and it's very that.

⛳ a second bedroom converted into a closet, because you know he just has LOADS of clothes and barely repeats them.

⛳ his at-home-attire consists mostly of sweatshirts, which i love picturing in a blush pink.

⛳ during the pandemic he was getting anxious for not being able to hit the gym. however, he did go overboard to compensate for it with his online purchases.

I'm up thinking about how good of friends Hannah and Rahim could've been if Hannah hadn't been eliminated.

I'm seeing them awkwardly chatting because they both gravitated towards the edge of the group, always ending up the two people that no one else chose. Commiserating about how awkward they are. Hannah bandwagoning about the bruised fruit because she loves latching onto things other people care about.

Them getting rejected by people almost becomes a joke between them, Rahim going from Marisol to Priya to MC etc and Hannah getting dropped by Gary then Henrik (who's polite enough to just say he's not feeling a spark between them) then curved by Elijah.

Hannah starting to work out because it's something to do and only being able to handle like 20 lbs max but Rahim is so so patient and genuinely wants to teach her lifts and different sets.

Them developing an unspoken code of facial expressions and grimaces during group events, shooting each other looks from across the firepit. Being absolute dorks because Hannah is smol and Rahim is so tall and strong that sometimes he just yeets her into the pool and sometimes she says shit like 'hurry up in the bathroom or I'll crawl under the door'

When they come back from CA they both grab the other, Rahim to gossip about what happened and Hannah to laugh at themselves (except Rahim is gently trying to express that he genuinely likes Shannon and that Hannah clearly likes Lottie but he can't SAY that so he just is like 'maybe there's someone who's been here all along that you're holding out for, hm?')

Instead of Hannah going on her 'im alt now' lottie copycat phase she brushes her hair like that once and Rahim pulls her aside, says it isn't her. Hannah breaks down and cries about feeling out of place, and Rahim quietly rubs her back then agrees that he also feels like an afterthought in the group.

Yeah. They both just needed a friend.

OUR GOOD OLD SCHOOL SONGS

HELLO THERE!!

I am here to write on Indian norms and believes and my ideas on them. Mind you i will never say that it's wrong or not ,i will just try to analyze it.

Today, I will be talking about those old school songs you sing in school assembly. That's right I am talking about songs like "tum ram kaho, ve rahim kahe" or "haar desh ma tu , haar bhesh ma tu, tera naam annek tu ek hi hai". Now if you think logically , that's a bizarre thing to sing that hindu and muslim gods are the same. If you study sociology just till class 11th NCERT textbooks, it says in chapter 4 'culture and tradition' each culture (here in religious aspect) cann't be similar to each other . One culture opposes the idea other cultures follow. But the song which we sing in our school assembly literally says that Hindu , Muslims, Christian, Parsee (etc) are all same and what hindus call ram is allah to muslims .

One theory can be that these songs were written during the non-cooperation movement, it was sung to bring hindu and muslims together and fight as one. But if you look for evidences about when were these songs written ,there is no strong evidence to say that it was written around 1924. The argument still continues that why are every other school songs in india talking about how all gods are one and all religion are one. Some people may also say that it's just a metaphor when they say that all gods are one ...if so do explain why do they call our worship places same ??

In the end i would like to state that this song "tum ram kaho, ve rahim kahe ,dono ki tallaj allah se hai' was first sung in 1961 from were it got popular and now we sing it in every school of India , putting up a theory that this song maybe concerted as a metaphor for some but in reality it just pushes young Indian minds aka. children to believe that YES we all live here together , YES we all are same , YES WE ALL ARE equal.

SO, next time you heard this song REMEMBER it's not just a song , it's a social order exercised on us and you may think that no it doesn't effect me but maybe not you but some where , some one is effected by this song and is tiring to make India a country as depicted in this song.
