WIP Wednesday: Off the Rails (ch.5 sneak peek! with cover photo!)

I'm still in the middle of writing Ch.5, so I do need the extra week I gave myself, after all. However, I wanted to give a sneak peek of what's, uhh...arriving at the station next week.😏

It's titled "Unexpected Detour" and definitely lives up to its name in more than one way. First, it wasn't part of the plan! Never had it in my outline! But when I knew what the last line of Ch.4 was going to be (and how much of a cliffhanger that would be), I knew we were veering off for a bit. Second...well, I think the snippet will show something that no one expects. (And it's not the Spanish Inquisition!)

As for the cover photo: why the rips? Well, I'll tell you this much: it's not just because I don't like showing full faces for my Dracos and Hermiones.

TN: Just—pretend I’m not here. DM: Why would I sit here talking to myself? Aloud? TN: To get clarity! … TN: That recorder thingy can’t capture eyerolls. … TN: Or that. Let the record show that one Draco Malfoy is giving Theodore Nott the two-fingered salute. DM: Theodore, I swear to— (muffled sounds of struggle, followed by loud static sounds) TN: No, don’t t— (clicks off, then on) DM: <mumbled grumbling> TN: Just humour me. DM: <huffing sounds> TN: Here, have a drink. (sounds of clinking glass and pouring of liquid) TN: So, Draco… Mr. Malfoy. DM: What are you, my healer? TN: In a way. At least this time, you know what we discuss won’t show up in Witch Weekly. Or the Prophet. DM: <sips> TN: Exactly. Now, tell me when your fascination began. DM: My fascination? TN: Do you want me to call it a crush? Or, ooh!—unrequited love! But you were always fascinated with her, probably right from the start, before anyth— DM: Fine. Fascination.

ideal living situation is what i call the 'sitcom special' : having all your closest friends live in the same apartment building or neighborhood where you each have your own space but can wander in and out of eachothers homes at will, seemingly always welcome and never at bad times. and also all of you only have jobs when its important to the plot.
