🌟 —       “ Oh? If not…” The looks she creates is far from convinced while eyeing the body language, but there is no push for answers - luckily, she is granted some insight. Regrets, loss… all too familiar.  The strange device within hands is noted with a quick shift of purple hues. Beelko may only sense it links data to the Digital World - or, at least once.  “ And now you are alone…” She hums with shoulders relaxed, as she walks closer the small human, bowing down with tilted beak. Digimon of her height, may seem almost intimidating - alongside with her aura. “ …but not completely. Me and my kind, have made many mistakes. But pray tell… where are you heading in a state like that? ”

Yellow and white plastic cracks between her fingers, ghostly pale skin covered in gooseflesh and her brown eyes were the saddest ever as she kept a glance at the Digimon, though too reminded of someone from her past, who had wronged her.

Juri flinched instinctively when the Digimon approached, but she didn't move at all, hands only tightening around her broken device, the crunching of plastic being heard again.

Voice catching in her throat, the girl sniffled. "You too?" She tried not to let her fear show, but it was written on her tear-streaked face. Catching the Digimon's gaze, she quickly stared at her feet, her shoulders trembling. "I'm going nowhere..."

Corrupted DigiDestined AU

Aka- Another Digimon AU That's Me Just Spinning Gears and Playing With an Old Post

(This is not reboot continuity- I just needed a pretty picture.)

I've seen this concept done in three ways-

Outright turn the kids stereotypically evil. This works in the short term, but it's not good for character anaylsis/DigiDestined rotation. The "quick and dirty" option, basically.

Invert the Crests. So the Crest of Courage becomes the Crest of Fear. I found only one cool Tim Burton-esque art set that did this well. I can't find it now. But generally, I've never been satisfied with these. Especially because they have to work around the "Crest of Darkness" every goddamn time...

Work with the kids' weaknesses. So the Crest of Courage becomes the Crest of Recklessness. This is probably my favorite option.

I want to go more in-depth on the last one, and that's why we've gathered here today. Only instead of just working with the canon weaknesses...what if I tweaked the kids's pasts so their "worst event" never happened? What kind of people would they become?

Also alternate Digimon partners because wheeeee I like them.

Tai- The Crest of Arrogance

Impmon-> Punkmon-> Loudmon-> HeavyMetaldramon

This was an easy one because he's my blorbo. The event I chose to erase was also an easy pick. What if Tai never brought Kari out to play soccer that day? I rotated this for a bit and concluded that the athletics aspect of his character would take over, making him a sort of asshole jock type.

Tai still possesses a natural charisma, leadership ability, and recklessness. But his rule is delivered with an iron fist. It doesn't matter if he's on the soccer pitch or in the Digital World. His rule is simply law. His leadership potential and cruelty are magnified to the point that even adults don't want to get on his bad side.

Tai's self-centered and not afraid to bash your face in if you disagree with him. Your name doesn't have to be "Matt" either. He thinks of himself as a great hero, and anyone who disagrees with him must be another antagonist there to ruin his day. But in reality, he's barely keeping the group together with glue made of terror.

Impmon may be a cliche choice, but I chose him for his Punkmon evolution line. They're still reptilian, while also being loud, belligerent, and always looking for a fight. I also just like HeavyMetaldramon in general. He's got a dumb name I can't help but love, plus he looks like another favorite who will come into play later.

Matt- The Crest of Manipulation

Gazimon-> Sangloupmon-> Astamon-> GranDracmon

Matt's "special event" was obvious, too. His parents never got divorced in this AU (an event that will come into play with TK too, naturally). Since this event controls a lot more of Matt's character than Tai's event, I had to think a minute for him. I decided to fuck with his sense of empathy and dub characterization. Because Matt can be as emotionally mature and sensitive as Sora, even if he can't always make that obvious.

So what if he used that trait for evil?

On the surface, Matt's the cool rebel of the group. His suave surface nature makes him easy to approach. One might even call him a friend, even if they know nothing about him. However, he knows how to play with feelings. Like any good instrument, you keep plucking strings until you get the result you and. And that's exactly how Matt views people. Before you can blink, he's got what he wanted and dumped you on the side of the road.

Astamon and GranDracmon are both smooth-talking demon Digimon. Astamon attracts a lot of followers, while GranDracmon can talk any angel Digimon into "falling down". I figured they'd be a perfect fit (though I was admittedly thinking of the Astamon from Young Hunters). Gazimon and Sangloupmon kept the canine theme without being Gabumon recolors.

(Fun fact- I've used this line before for an OC, but that character was (in the end) benign.)

Sora- The Crest of Ambition

Dracumon-> BlackGatomon-> Bastemon-> Lilithmon

It would have been easy to make Sora the emotional manipulator. Too easy. And it wouldn't have anything to do with her issue- namely, her controlling mother. But what if her mother was a little more lax? No- MORE lax than that. What if she supported her daughter no matter what- even if those ambitions skewed too extreme?

Woe be to anyone who gets in this Sora's way. It doesn't matter what she has her eye on. She'll get it, and she'll gladly step on you if you get in the way. She's never heard "no" before, and has no time or desire to hear it from you.

Her Crest of Love has become a type of Lust, but not in the sexual sense. It's desire. Passion. It's never-ending want. The cup is never full for Sora. There's still more drink to be had. There will never be enough.

I worked my way backwards from Lilithmon, choosing Digimon with mind control abilities and ambitious personalities. This means we get a recolor of Gatomon- despite my efforts to avoid recolors of the canon crew- but oh well.

Joe- The Crest of Sloth

Phascomon-> Porcupamon-> Mephismon-> Belphemon

Joe's "problem" in Adventure is also heavy expectations, much like Sora. Taking them away could result in an overly ambitious character. But for Joe, I went the opposite direction. What if he was a person with no ambitions at all?

Paralyzed by his own fears and no goal in life, Joe is more follower than leader. He carries out orders without a thought to his own life or safety, because he believes his life to be meaningless. With certain people in this corrupted crew, however, that means he's carrying out plenty of evil deeds. He's not necessarily evil himself, however- just without direction.

I worked my way back from a Demon Lord again- this time Belphemon. He's naturally the Demon Lord of Sloth (for those who don't live in the Digital World inside their minds). I chose Mephismon just to connect the Champion to the Mega, and also because he's a demonic Digimon.

And that's about it for Joe. I wish I could do more, but it's hard to add personality to a character with no goals.

Mimi- The Crest of Selfishness

Aruraumon-> Zassomon-> Blossomon-> Rafflesimon

Otamamon->ShogunGekomon (warp)

Mimi doesn't have family issues like the rest of the cast. The problem is she's spoiled. So instead of erasing her backstory, I decided to erase her character development. Certain events like Sora convincing her to leave the Gekomon don't happen in this timeline. They can't, after all, with how different everyone else is.

This results in a Mimi who only acts in her own self interest. Maybe not at first. Maybe she thinks the others are pure evil. But that changes. Thanks to the attention lavished upon her by the Otamamon and Gekomon, she's essentially Princess Mimi full time. Woe be to the poor idiot who gets under her high heels!

I decided to go with recolors for this line just because it made more sense to corrupt Palmon than to invent a new partner. Perhaps Mimi was originally a "pure" force introduced to keep the others in line. But her own flaws were waiting to consume her...

Also- similar to how Leomon was able to digivolve thanks to Tai's Digivice, one of the Otamamon gained the same power from Mimi's. That's why she has two Digimon. And you can bet others like Chuumon/Sukamon, the Numemon, and more follow the army of Princess Mimi.

Izzy- The Crest of Intellect

Hagurumon-> Mekanorimon-> Vademon-> EBEmon

I know what you're thinking- I'm a lazy-ass and replaced "Knowledge" with a synonym. And you're right! But with the event I removed being Izzy's knowledge of his adoption, his intelligence didn't go away. Instead of retreating, he expanded outwards. Think Ken when he was roleplaying the Digimon Emperor, but with no Wormmon to hold him back.

Izzy is smarter than you and he knows it. Similar to Matt, he's outplayed you before you can even say hello. He doesn't have Matt's charm, but he doesn't need it. You're too stupid to counteract him, anyway. He can hack your systems before you've realized a single thing amiss. Maybe he'll even let you believe things are fine for a day or two...

Like Sora and Mimi, he hasn't encountered any problems. A snag in Izzy's plans is always temporary. But hit him in his unstable emotional core, and you may have a chance of saving your laptop. But the resulting revenge is bound to be devastating....

I was going to do a full machine Digimon line, but then veered into Vademon. The big brain design caught my attention. Also, since regular Izzy had troubles with a Vademon, having his dark half master this Digimon has interesting implications for my brain.

TK- The Crest of Terror

DemiDevimon-> Devidramon->DexDoruGreymon-> Megidramon

Remember how I cut the divorce from canon? This means TK grew up with Matt, who- in this timeline- is an emotional abuser. And of course, his favorite target is his doting little brother, who will do anything he says.

Like Joe, TK's not evil. He just lives in a constant state of fear. He'll apologize as his Digimon tears you into bite-sized pieces- all while proclaiming his love for his brother. Whether Matt tells him to act as a distraction or kill, it doesn't matter. He'll do it, knowing he'll get no reward.

But TK wants a reward. Matt's his whole world. It's always been that way. Unfortunately he sees no other existence. Without Matt, he simply doesn't exist.

Megidramon is one of my favorite Digimon, so I had to squeeze him in somehow. I like to think TK's partner is a manifestation of his true feelings. Though he loves his brother, he's also disgusted by him. If given the slightest bit of leash, he'd turn the monster loose on Matt- and regret it for the rest of his life.

(And yes- a DemiDevimon did mess with TK in canon...convincing him his brother didn't love him...it's only a matter of time...)

Kari- The Crest of Despair

Salamon-> Meicoomon->Meicrackmon Vicious Mode-> Mastemon

Despair is kind of similar to Darkness, and I've seen it used on a few of these sorts of things. But it's not like "the opposite of Light is Darkness" because it's an actual character trait. And it's a direction Kari could go without her brother's love to support her.

Kari's in a similar boat as TK. She's lived her whole life with a bastard of a brother. But she also has a host of illnesses. Just once, she'd love her brother to visit her in the hospital. But he never came. Soccer was a useful excuse, or else his parents were too scared to command him.

Now, they're trapped in the Digital World together, and it's no secret that Kari's the chain around Tai's ankle. He certainly hasn't kept that information from her, finally losing his patience when she falls ill in Machinedramon's territory. She always held on to hope that he was a good big brother deep down. Now proven wrong, she's in a vegetative state of despair.

Like with Mimi, I just corrupted Gatomon instead of making a new character. But I started from her Rookie stage of Salamon. We're gonna pretend tri. never happened for this. As for Mastemon? Gatomon DID reach her Angewomon stage, and that data still exists within her. But it mixed with the dark despair created by her partner. Instead of falling entirely, she became a deadly being that exists between light and darkness.

Odds and Ends

This ramble does imply that evil Digimon like Myotismon were still killed. This was not out of charity. They simply got in the way and were disposed of.

The Digital World still chose the kids during the Greymon/Parrotmon fight, when they were young and innocent, having no idea what would happen in the future. Mimi was the OG damage control, with a pure and sincere nature that might be able to purify the others.

When Mimi failed, Kari's shining light had to take over. It worked for a little while- mostly for TK and Joe, who are not malicious.

When Tai polished off Kari's light, TK finally snapped. His Megidramon responded to his anger, attempting to destroy Tai. This Digimon ran into a blockade in the form of HeavyMetaldramon. Not sure which of the two would win this fight, but it would be cool at least. The loser probably wouldn't make it out alive, though...

As previously mentioned, tri didn't happen. 02 still could, with Davis/Cody/Yolei/non-evil Ken being the third attempt to keep these damn kids in line. Maybe they receive help from TK, Joe, and what's left of Kari. But that's an AU within an AU and I'm already tired.

Mimi never returned to the Real World when the castle has all she wants. She mostly operates from there, keeping in touch with the others via Digimon like Soundbirdmon.

Miraculous Destiny AU rambling

So I've been figuring out lore and stuff in my head (Still stumped on a Miraculous to give Riot but I'll figure it out). Here's what I got so far:

Some Backstory: The Admins were formerly superheroes who, along with their Digimon partners, used them to help people. However, as they got older, they stopped using the Miraculouses. Instead, they all resigned themselves to guardians, splitting them between the seven of them. All but one received three Miraculouses to look after.

Simon Reddington would be the only one who had not received three, instead holding only one - The Butterfly. He had grown somewhat bitter in age and had become obsessed with the idea of creating a 'perfect' world. But, to do that, he of course needed the Ladybug and Black Cat. And luckily for him, he knew who had them.

At least, he thought he did. Their guardians, Lucia Yi and Jordan Hedgewick, sent the Miraculouses far away and went into hiding, so that he would not find them. So, instead of searching for them himself, he decided to use the Butterfly Miraculous to create "Champions" that would retrieve them in his stead.

Lore:

So Digimon exist in a space that, like Ghost Game and Xros Hunters, allows them to affect the Human World without being seen. They rarely appear in the Human World, preferring to live in their plane of existence, but can be brought out through the use of some Miraculous... like the Butterfly.

When a Digimon is Akumatized, they materialize in the Real World. They then experience something akin to a Dark Digivolution, driving them mad and causing them to go berserk. They don't always get Akumatized though, some humans do too

If a hero bonds with a Digimon, they gain a Miracle Device, which is eventually just a Digivice that is connected to a specific Miraculous. It allows the Digimon to gain an evolutionary stage known as Miracle Digivolution, where they Digivolve using the power/energy of the Miraculous (Sort of like Armor Digivolution if that makes sense, but somewhere between Champion and Ultimate). Instead of a common Digimon name, they gain a title/superhero name of sorts. The Miracle Device also allows them to enter the other plane that most Digimon exist in.

Digimon AU concept

What if ken and his brother were brought to digiworld, maybe through the dark ocean, long ago? In this AU, ken wouldnt be a boy genius until he finds a way to the human world and makes a name for himself. Hed probably only ever play soccer and chess and stuff to get famous so he can get a better radar on the digidestined. Itd be like a reverse of the plot for the start of season 2, where the main characters try to find out ken's real identity.

I think they still call him ken to piss him off at the start tho

Fic For Odaiba Day 2024: In Regula Angeli

Hi everyone! Happy Odaiba Day... 2! Now that it's the actual Odaiba Day here, I'm here to post my SECOND fic I'm premiering this year!

As always, I'm happy to write for the Digimon fandom and I'm happy to have become part of it here on tumblr, even just in a small way! So here we are with the second fic: a 02 AU where Kari acts as a Digimon Emperor alongside Ken!

Title: In Regula Angeli Summary: Order must be brought to the Digital World. The partnership between human and Digimon will inevitably be too dangerous to remain unchecked. As a tyrant from the human world yearns to assume complete control, Homeostasis comes up with a plan to protect the order it serves, and it has the perfect subject in mind to enact it.

The Digidestined were a necessity to fix the problems with the Digital World two and a half years ago. Devimon, the Dark Network, Myotismon, the Dark Masters, Apocalymon, they would’ve all destroyed the very fabric of their world. But no, the Digidestined had helped avert that with the help of their Digimon. The world had been corrected, and the humans had been sent off to their home.

The worlds weren’t meant to touch ever again.

Then, a newcomer arrived. One who found his own Digimon partner. That wasn’t supposed to happen. Of all the knowledge it had of the Digital World, near limitless information feeding in from every inch of the world, this wasn’t accounted for. The Digital World was safe now, there was no need for another human. Even if this human and his Digimon partner helped keep the world safe, that didn’t change the fact that humans and Digimon needed to be separated. Permanently.

With the human now gone, peace had settled again, and Digimon were able to live as they were meant to. But unfortunately, it wasn’t the last time.

But then that human came back. Much, much worse than before. He called himself the Digimon Emperor, used strange technology to subjugate Digimon, and erected disgusting monoliths to stake claim to the world.

Its world.

This could not continue. At the rate this false ruler of the Digital World was working, the entire Digital World would fall under his rule in no time. This proved to it one thing: Digimon and humans could not continue to interact. Their bonds were too dangerous. The Digidestined were a fluke, a gambit designed solely to stop greater foes. Humans could not be trusted enough to maintain these partnerships. No, they had to be driven from the Digital World entirely. This world was meant only for the Digimon.

But that left the question: how.

Without a physical form, it couldn’t even attempt to put up a fight against this emperor, let alone stop him completely. There had to be some solution. A way to rally against the Digimon Emperor and break the slowly growing stranglehold he was rapidly achieving.

…

That was it.

One option. No, one solution.

Now it was just a matter of setting the gears in motion.

I agree that calamity trio's magical girl form deserve more moment to shine than what they got in canon. Well at least there's a fanfic series in ao3 that do exactly that titled "age of calamity au ultimate addition" but warning, the fics have a lot of dark moments

Here's a list of my personal grievances with Amphibia:

Andrias Leviathan should have fucking died. He lies to a child, impales her, turns her into an abomination, traps her in an idyllic fantasy world, and he gets off the hook?! Nah, bro; GUILLOTINE THAT BITCH;

Anne shouldn't have became a God. Sure, she's allowed to currently live her mortal life, but the fact that the Gods are putting the pressure of Godhood on a mortal's shoulders is absolutely fucked up;

Anne's form should've been more amphibian-like, instead of just being Super Saiyan Blue. Anime references are cool, but please, at least be more unique when making them;

Each of the girls should've had a crucial moment where they achieve their Magical Girl forms BEFORE Season 3. You know like Digimon Adventure and Winx Club had different episodes where at least one of the heroes goes through an intense moment and then BOOM, powers unlocked? Yeah, I want something like that;

Marcy's redemption/atonement should've been given more attention and closure. Show that Anne and Sasha still care for her, but are still clearly walking on eggshells around Marcy, and have her do her best to redeem herself/atone for her selfishness;

The Calamity Trio should've been allowed to catch up with their friends back in Amphibia (if the Digidestined were allowed to reunite with their Digimons after so many years, then why not the Trio?!);

The Trio should've become a sapphic poly triad. Just to piss Disney off, like what Ms. Terrace has done with Luz and Amity.

digimon au idea / headcanon rambles

nothing really too set in stone, just loose stuff to maybe make more coherent later

teiamon is a rookie level digimon based on meteion, and her overall evolution chart would be:

digiegg -> lifomon (baby) -> kotorimon (in-training) -> teiamon (rookie) -> starbirmon (champion) -> meteiamon (ultimate) -> starfall metiamon (mega) / endsingermon (dark digivolution; would definitely be one of those movie special antagonists)

gonetomon is a rookie level digimon based on dravanians in general leaning toward nidhogg, and his overall evolution chart would be:

digiegg -> korumon (baby) -> ornmon (in-training) -> gonetomon (rookie) -> wivremon (champion) -> nidhogumon (ultimate) -> dragonfire nidhogumon (mega)

names are...being workshopped, tbh. anyway...

deciding that 'Eye of Nidhogg' is actually just some nu metal band that estinien listens to and wears some merch of -- yes, i'm totally justifying the eye of nidhogg shirt i drew for him on a whim. idk, i just put nidhogg imagery on him in my aus like i put ketchup on my hot dog.

most of estinien's digidestined friends are largely in france and there's ysayle (crest of light), haurchefant (crest of friendship), aymeric (crest of reliability), lucia (crest of knowledge), and francel (crest of sincerity). estinien is their holder of the crest of courage.

nomin's are in london with her (for the most part). nomin holds the crest of light. there's arik (crest of friendship), lorha (crest of knowledge), minfilia (crest of love), and tataru (crest of kindness).

nomin wears wigs...at least until her hair grows back in. so she has a small collection of both natural color hair and unnatural color hair that she swaps between on occasion when going out. she's actually really shy about being seen without a wig or a cap while she's no longer receiving chemo.

just because it would have been a pain in the ass for me, digimon are only okay, by law, if they're with their partner humans. so as long as teiamon is with nomin, teiamon gets to stay in the hospital with her. and though it is an unusual occurrence, teiamon doesn't get in trouble when she has traveled along with estinien when picking up stuff for nomin as opposed to when she traveled alone.

japan's not the only one that has outlawed digimon, though, tbh... there are plenty of other places. i want to believe that the americas and the uk are probably the most lax about it so long as they're with their people and clearly not causing issues.

Get to Know You Tag Game

Thank you @dru-reblogs-stuff for the tag. It's been a while since I last did this, so let's see what we can come up with.

last song: The last one I listened to was probably Wherever You Will Go by The Calling. I was looking for songs to put onto the Modern AU playlist so I could get back into writing that.

last movie: The Transformers Movie (1987). Hubs and I were going through his Transformers animated series collection and this was a part of it. It's a fun film and, as per usual for the 80s, quite dark for a film aimed at children.

currently watching: The Scarlet Pimpernel (BBC). Yeah, hubs and I are onto the period dramas now. This wasn't a regular watch when I was growing up, but I have a lot more appreciation for the storyline now than I used to. The two main leads are still as aesthetically attractive as I remember though.

currently reading: "Fic"- I'm making my way through Her Countenance Was Light and thoroughly enjoying myself. Honestly cannot recommend this one enough, folks, however, I maay be slightly biased. Book- I've not really been reading books recently, though I am tempted to borrow Pride and Prejudice from the local library.

currently craving: I'm honestly not sure at the moment. Maybe some ability to actually focus for a little bit? Just so I can get some much-needed housework done.

last thing you searched for writing purposes: It was digimon digivolution lines for the sake of a UK digidestined fic re-write I have planned to get around to at some point. It's kind of fallen by the wayside again for a bit 😅.

KND Digimon AU: Crests

So I've decided to put Crests in my KND Digimon AU after seeing the poll! For those of you who don't know, Crests are symbols of traits that the Digidestined from Digimon Adventure embody and use to digivolve their partners into Ultimates or Megas.

In this AU, Crests are not only used to make their partners stronger than before, but for Digifusion/DNA Digivolution. Crests are found in the Digital World where Sector V goes and find them after learning about them from Numbuh 362. Father also heard about the ancient Crests and wanted to find them so he could corrupt them and use them to digivolve his dark Digimon. But fortunately, Sector V found the Crests first.

Nigel's Crest is the Crest of Determination.

Hoagie's Crest is the Crest of Perseverance.

Kuki's Crest is the Crest of Tenderness.

Wally's Crest is the Crest of Resistance.

Abby's Crest is the Crest of Empathy.

There are more than 5 Crests in the Digital World. Like for instance, the original Crests from Digimon Adventure. Stories say that Sector Z had Crests, but there were lost when Sector Z disappeared. Only those of pure of heart and bravery can attain the Crests.

He was in the digital world during the evo kid’s time basically a stowaway on their adventure that was never supposed to be there and was never discovered

Time moves differently in the digital world months go by while your in there but in the real world only minutes 

Oli still looks like 5-15 year old kid despite being way way older than the others (he’s like hundreds of years old )

 Nobody believes him when he tell them his real age because he’s gone a bit crazy and never grew up so they think he’s one of the first timers and the youngest of them 

Everybody always keeps him in the dark and away from the fighting the evo crew are especially guilty of this because they know what it’s like to be kids in this mess 

He eventually starts traveling with a digimon who is kinda his partner but he is not able to evolve his partner because he doesn’t have a crest and he doesn’t have a digivice 

His partner looks like a dragon 

he killed his partners mama(I know digimon don’t work that way but still) Or he killed a digimon dragon but after the battle he found its egg and out hatched his beautiful baby boy

…he prays the memories of him killing his partner stays forgotten  

And they bond by singing annoyingly catchy ditties together 😊

The ideas are super fun! I enjoy seeing your concepts! I don't have much to add and wont be using it for my own au just because I specifically don't want anyone who isn't part of the core Life Series as digidestined / associated with the digital world. But if you make an au of your own this would be really cool!

Thinking about Oli's place in the human world might be fun for me since I think a suitable non digidestined group back home missing their friends or family and only knowing they've gone missing is really interesting to me. <3 Maybe Oli is the first to realise Lizzie and Joel are missing!

“I worry too much?” she asked, wanting to make sure she heard him the first time. A soft giggle escaped her lips and she shrugged her shoulders. Maybe he was right, maybe she did worry too much but she couldn’t help it. “Guess i’m already taking over the role of the perfect housewife.” she grinned at him. “Just kidding.” Hikari grabbed the pan and the bowls of rice and put them on the little folding table, she put BlackGabumons food down for him too then sat down herself. “I’m glad, hope it tastes good too.” she gave the blonde a soft smile. “Let’s eat.. Itadakimasu!” she picked up her chopsticks and grabbed some of the chopped up eels, putting it on her boyfriends bowl of rice before she put some on her own. She really enjoyed spending some quality time with him like this, maybe it wasn’t nothing special to him but just being able to cook for him, to be there for him, to see that little smile on his lips once in a while made her the happiest girl. “Say, Yamato.. do you want to go on a trip with me?” she asked, knowing her sudden question came out of no where.. but she had a reason for wanting to go on a trip with him and she didn’t know how to tell him. “We could take the train, go somewhere nice with a beach or.. even the mountains.. or we could go on a roadtrip. What do you say?”

『 Cracking open his water he took a huge gulp, feeling his lungs burn with the chill. Perfect housewife? Perhaps, but cleaning up after Yamato was something he didn’t want her to do, he wasn’t a slob, he just needed motivation and direction sometimes. 』

『 BlackGabumon tucked into his food without complaint, and Yamato folded his hands. “Itadakimasu.” He said, picking up his bowl of rice after Hikari had laid some eel across it. It wasn’t every day that they had a good meal, so Yamato was very happy that Hikari had stopped by. 』

『 Mouth full of rice, Yamato’s eyes focused on Hikaru’s face as she spoke. Something to just get away sounded nice. They could bring along their Digimon, and maybe use Yamato’s motorcycle. His saddle bags could hold whatever they brought, and there could be a backpack too. He knew BlackGabumon was comfortable on his bike but had no idea how Tailmon would react. 』

『 Swallowing and taking another big drink of water, Yamato nodded. “Sounds good to me, this town fucking makes me depressed. BlackGabumon and I could use time away.” He reached and rubbed his partner’s ears, and he sighed content under Yamato’s touch. 』

I figured since it’s been a few days since I last talked about my Twst x digimon AU, I’d do that rn!

So, here are my reasons for why I chose which digimon for which character.

Starting off with Epel! Epel was one of the first lines I came up with. It started off with me remembering that Lovely Angemon existed, so I went to her page on Wikimon. Now, I don’t remember if I went to Wikimon specifically for this AU, but that’s what it ended up being. Anyway, I then clicked on Sala/Plotmon’s page bc, why not ig? And that’s when I realized that I thought that Salamon and Epel would look really good paired up together. So I decided on the line you see above.

So yes, at first it was about the aesthetic. However, when I started thinking about it, the more sense it made to me. Salamon is a really cute digimon, who doesn’t have that much control over its power which makes it seem weaker than it really is. And when you think about that along with how much Epel hates being perceived as ‘cute’ and/or ‘girly’ having that type of partner would be something he’s less than thrilled about.

Then there’s Gato/Tailmon. Gatomon is a champion level, and in the OG Adventure 1999 series, she’s introduced by beating up all of the digidestined’s champions. Now this is great, however Gatomon is still very small compared to other champions, and still very ‘cute’ looking. She could easily be mistaken for a rookie level (plus Gatomon is categorized as both Champion/Adult and Rookie/Child level, so…) now you’ve got an exceptionally powerful digimon (though one could argue that Gatomon’s strength in Adventure 1999 is bc of ✨trauma✨ but that’s neither here nor there) but is still very small and cute. Connections to Epel are fairly obvious, I feel.

Then we get to Angewomon. A very obviously Feminine digimon, and, I’ll be honest, the way I have the scene where Gatomon digivolves into Angewomon for the first time, Epel’s first thought isn’t about how feminine or pretty she is, but “wow, my partner’s so cool!” Or at least, something along those lines. Of course, I don’t know if that would how it would turn out if I actually made this into a story and not just random anecdotes about the AU, but I feel like that first thought would show off some of his character development in this AU.

Finally, with Lovely Angemon, it is mostly the same as the previous, however Epel seems to refer to himself using the word “lovely” more in the direct translation/JP than in the EN translation.

(I did have a picture of Epel referring to himself with the word “lovely” but my image was fucking up and only putting in the picture of Epel’s digimon line, so, like, look it up for yourself ig)

A final anecdote about this line is how it kinda parallels (if that’s the right word) another character in the AU. Because, you see, the Great Seven in this AU are all turned into digimon that the main cast meet throughout their journey. And the digimon I chose to represent the Fairest Queen is Lilith/Laylamon. Now if you don’t know, Lilithmon is very connected to the Gatomon line. As Lilithmon represents a sort of “dark version” to Ophanimon, one of Gatomon’s Mega levels. In Lilithmon’s Digimon reference book entry, it even states that “It is thought that it was originally the same kind of Digimon as Ophanimon, but it fell from heaven and eventually became known as the ‘Goddess of Darkness’” So while Epel’s line may end with Lovely Angemon, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a strong connection between the two characters, which I find very fun!

Anyway, ig the tl;dr is that I choose the Sala/Gatomon line for the aesthetic, but I was actually being a genius.

(Anyway, since the pictures keep fucking up and showing the Epel Digimon Line instead, I’m just going to end it here and explain the rest later in a different post)

Digimon Frontier AU in which the Spirits of Steel, Wood, and Earth were bequeathed to Ophanimon, the Spirits of Darkness and Water were bequeathed to Seraphimon, the Spirits of Flame, Light, Ice, Wind, and Thunder were bequeathed to Cherubimon, and the protagonists are Katsuharu, Teppei, Chiaki, Teruo, and Koichi (with Koji joining later).

sorry this took a bit; I got sick halloween night and it got worse over the following days so I didn't feel up to addressing this with the focus it deserves. up for it now, though, and gonna put my thoughts under the cut:

MAN, ok, so, the dynamic here would be so, so different. The biggest point for me is that Koji didn't know about Koichi; Dawnmon (as a hypothetical, opposed to Duskmon) would be so much more dangerous as a result.

Koichi's attachment to Koji saved the original destined children a few times; Koji would have no such attachment, and would instead have to match those story beats by resisting the corruption with his own gentleness--which he has a lot of difficulty expressing, so I imagine he get a reputation for "playing" with them (maybe saying stuff like "Become worthy opponents to me and I'll bother going all-out.")

I think Koji's innate compassion could make him easy to manipulate, too; Cherubimon's resentment at perceived oppression of beast-type by human-type digimon would galvanize Koji, and seeing him act in the capacity of defending the marginalized makes sense, easily aligning him with the Royal Knights

Besides that, when I think about the bully squad actually becoming digidestined, they'd need some pretty significant character growth to be worthy of the spirits that allow them to change...which honestly might be interesting, in the context of their initial crummy behavior being seen as validation for human-type oppression, putting them into conflict with Koji right away

The Mamemon village arc is interesting with the original destined kids too; assuming they linger because Takuya is stubborn and wants to find + confront Tommy's bullies, Tommy is too scared to leave alone, Zoe is clinging to them because she doesn't wanna confront being friendless back home, and JP both wants to bond with these people and also explore the Digital World

It really wouldn't take a ton of shifting and recontextualization to work. Good AU idea, tyvm!

Digimon Au

Going to be putting my Digimon Au stuff under that tag, most of it about my OC and her Lucemon partner. Expect retcons if you are keeping an eye on this as I sort the world out better. In this Digital World, the lands tend to have many small villages, some city hubs, and some areas claimed as a territory by stronger digimon, witt he strong digimon 'ruler' being the one who is ultimately turned to when the peace keepers cant solve a problem, or it has grown beyond normal resolution. Or you have places where its just "Oh thats Lady Devimon's lands, a lot of Dark and Virus type digimon tend to live there and we dont bother them because she doesnt like vaccine or holy types much. Territory boundaries can shift by a village's consensus that they are ok with being rulled by the neighboring territory ruler, or by said territory ruler using thier strength to force the issue.

That said lot of the Digital world is free areas, cities, and villages also not under a territory, and the Village of Beginnings is never under anyone's territory by general consensus. Still, something happened, and some digimon decided to upend the order of things, and as happens often, the mightiest beings and digimon gods of that world called in children from the human world to give aid, trusting the children's potential for growth to pair with chosen digimon and defeat the digimon threatening the stability of the world. They of course succeeded, but digimon lords and territory rulers who kept an eye on things had noticed some frankly eyebrow raising interventions when said children and thier partners got nearly killed.

Lucemon was one of these observers. He had fallen quite a bit ago, cast from the digital god's grace for questioning why some digimon were bad and deserving of being called evil and killed on sight by the more zealous of the other angels, and why some werent, of that god had made them all, in the first place. He had helped being about a peace with his wisdom, and was far too proud when he was praised by the grateful. Among other things, Lucemon is a bit more jaded now, but didnt fully turn into the tyrannical ruler that needed to be sealed away, nor put himself fully with evil forces. Instead he simply gathered his followers, and filled with spite, set about making his own kingdom. A discontent King of sorts, who grew more and more jaded and sadistic and mean spirited, but still determining to hold to the values that got him fallen in the first place. The value that all are equal beneath him, both virus and dark, vaccine and holy, and neither deserves smiting for simply existing… and that since he was damned for praise of what he had rightfully done, he should keep doing it, and thus secured himself a nice slowly expanding kingdom he was ruler to. He watched the digidestined's war, via scouts and the abilities of his underlings, and determined the humans would be victorious. So he carefully sent a support army with a general he knew could make a nice rousing meaningless speech to bump his PR up and make it seem he had always supported the humans, and sent the army on the den of evil least likely to give his own alliances repercussions. A token support as things are starting to wrap up, but Lucemon knows how important public image is.

And then he watched and waited and saw that oh, the humans can come back! The Powers That Be didnt send them home with no hope to return, and whats this? More humans? But there is no crisis, not anymore. And thus is the stage for the AU, where the crisis of the digital world happened a handful of years ago in the human world, and humans are slowly entering the digital world as some system grants digivices or people are sucked in on accident. And the digimon themselves starting the bias that humans are always good, if a bit mean sometimes, and starting to associate rank to a digimon who has a human partner.

Medieval AU. The so-called 'King of Darkness' is appointed a knight. A warrior. A legend. But just how far is Kouichi willing to work under the evil overlord? And when he finds out the Prince of Light is his brother, where do his loyalties truly lie?

College AU. Kouichi and Ken are roommates at university, each of them studying hard in their chosen academic field. Kouichi is struggling through medical textbooks while Ken whizzes through a Cracking Codes class, from which Kouichi catches a glimpse of digimoji symbols, and the truth spills out: they are both digidestined.

The Kaiser has acquired a new toy to play with: a digimon-human hybrid that the genius is quite interested in learning how effective a dark ring works upon. A forced spirit evolution results in waking Duskmon - a prince of darkness designed for war and revenge. On whom a dark ring is merely an accessory....

The Dark Ocean. It calls to them in the black of night. No moon, no stars... just a gaping, endless emptiness. Within which it is a comfort to find another person - but the both of them are choking on the evil of this place. In danger of drowning. They have to escape the dragging depths; better two of them working together - or dying in the attempt.
