                                 it's the answer she'd expected, and it's probably for the better. she wasn't a rambler in any other context, for a platitude of reasons. too self - conscious, too aware of how her mouth shaped words weird, awkward. more than that, she lacked the interest required to say more than a couple sentences at once. none of those things applied when it came to books, least of all her favorites. she would've talked about narnia for hours, maybe for days, if @leaten had said yes. but he hadn't. " okay, " she replies, ignoring the pang of disappointment. he had said ' unless you want to ', but there was a no before it, so it didn't count. the weight of his head makes hers turn. she leans in and presses her nose into his hair. breathes in. lee smells like hunger. like musk and ambergris, like wet metal, smoke, eucalyptus. when she exhales, mouth open, his pink curls susurrate like grass in the wind. maren tempts herself with the taste of him against the tip of her tongue before she leans back. her chest heaves. " once there were four children whose names were peter, susan, edmund, and lucy... "

the more maren talks, the easier it is for the bad dream to fade away. pushed to the back of his mind by her words — how she says them; like switching to a radio station that's playing a song he likes. so it's funny she says that. listening to his favorite song over and over. he's kind of doing that right now. except the words do change, and sometimes he doesn't understand them all the way. but that's alright.

" — nah, " addresses her question but brushes past the rest. how he's studying her attests his attention, though. she's got him hooked on everything being said. eyes stuck on hers, even after she stopped looking at him. " unless y'want to. either way, i'll stop you if i get confused. " now his head settles onto her shoulder. so he can watch the pages get turned instead. his fingers haven't left her wrist yet.

And cue the awkward post one night stand afterglow. Since they hooked up backstage, both Hangman and Rosalie Harper ( my orignialfemalecharacter ) are going above and beyond to avoid one another. But can they both manage to go on as if their one night meant nothing, that it was just something that happened? End of Year Wrap-Up 24/12/2018

Happy Merry to all you readers!

I’ve had a great year but all us music fans have had an even better one! Streaming services mean that now more than ever we can experience the musical output from all corners of the globe (though overwhelmingly the English-speaking parts of it) to understand different points of view, learn of the goings on in other parts of the world and most importantly indulge ourselves in a bit of a boogie. All the moods, genres and feels you could think of are out there, so over the holiday period perhaps try and listen to something new. Who knows it might break the tension with that younger/older relative round the xmas table when you find they also happen to like k-pop/jazz-funk/grindcore or at the very least you can bicker about the tragedy of the current album charts (Greatest Showman: 21 weeks!). To aid you in your quest for knowledge/excitement/small-talk I have spent almost 30 minutes curating a best-of for both albums and singles in the year of 2018.
