Range Rover Sport 2017 gets new engines and technology
The Range Rover Sport will go on sale later this year, priced from £59,700 with Jaguar Land Rover’s 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine. The model also gets an upgraded infotainment system and semi-autonomous driving features. JLR says the four-cylinder 2.0-litre diesel engine is the smallest unit yet used in the Range Rover Sport, with a claimed 45.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 164g/km. Named SD4 HSE, the Range Rover Sport with that engine manages the 0-60mph dash in 8.0sec and is the new entry-level option in the Range Rover Sport range, priced from £59,700. It replaces the 3.0-litre SDV6 as the entry-level model.
Cars with this engine will be distinguished by a single twin-exhaust, as opposed to the standard twin pipe exhaust of other models. A supercharged, all-aluminium V6 3.0-litre petrol engine with 335bhp and 332lb ft of torque has also been added to the range, sitting below the two 5.0-litre V8 variants. The 3.0-litre model has a claimed 26.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 243g/km and a 0-60mph time of 7.1sec. See the first Range Rover Velar official pictures here The semi-autonomous features include Low Traction Launch, which helps pull away on low-grip surfaces by controlling the amount of torque the driver can apply, as well as towing, autonomous emergency braking, blindspot assistance and an intelligent speed limiter. When activated, the speed limiter uses traffic sign recognition to read speed limit signs and prevent the car from exceeding the limit. Another new safety feature in the Range Rover Sport is a driver condition monitor that analyses steering inputs, the time of day and journey time to detect signs of driver fatigue; if they are detected it sends a warning to the driver. The infotainment system gets a bigger 10.0in touchscreen display, with Land Rover’s InControl Touch Pro, and this has removed some buttons from the dashboard, replacing them with on-screen buttons. The system can learn drivers’ regular routes and send car data and walking directions to the driver’s smartphone.
A wider selection of paint colours is also available, with a new Bright Pack - optional on Autobiography Dynamic models - that brightens metallic exterior trim. The model year updates for the Range Rover Sport follow the Range Rover upgrades announced recently, which also gets semi-autonomous tech and new engines. Read the full article

Land Rover Discovery 2004-2016 review
The Discovery 4 (called the LR 4 in North America) is an updated version of the Discovery 3.Using the same Integrated Body Frame structure, the new Discovery has altered front and rear light units and a restyled front grille and bumper to adopt the same smoother, rounder style as also adapted for the 2010 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport The Discovery 4 also retains the body-colored wheel arches and bumpers as the late Discovery 3s (early D3s had black plastic trim). Optional Daylight Running Lamps can be specified whilst LED lights feature prominently in both front and rear lamp units. The majority of the changes are mechanical, with reliability issues addressed, improvements to engines and gearboxes, brake and suspension refinements, but also included major interior upgrades with a more luxurious and contemporary interior with greater luxury and technology levels available. The D4 receives two engines from Jaguar Land Rover Gen III range. The TDV6 Gen 3 is a 3.0-litre development of the 2.7-litre engine used in the D3. The new version features advanced twin-sequential Turbochargers where a Variable geometry turbocharger is used at low engine speeds, with a second standard turbo is brought online at higher engine speeds. Two versions of the 3.0-litre diesel are offered. Fuel economy was improved over the previous generation diesel while power, torque and diesel NVH were improved significantly. This system provides greater output than the older engine, with 241 bhp (180 kW) and 600 N·m (440 lb·ft) whilst reducing CO2 emissions by 10 percent when first introduced and in 2014 increased to 188 kilowatts (252 hp). The Gen III version of the V8 petrol engine (available in markets outside the UK such as North America, Russia, Japan, Australia, and some EU countries) is now a 5-litre unit with Direct Petrol Injection developing 385 bhp (287 kW) and 520 N·m (380 lb·ft).
Then, in 2004, Land Rover launched the Discovery 3. This wasn’t a dramatic improvement for the Discovery so much as a galactic leap. The car grew to extra-large proportions but cast an even larger shadow for its incredible breadth of ability. It instantly went to the top of the big off-roader class, being next to unstoppable in the rough stuff yet comfortable and relaxing on it. In 2009 the Discovery received a heavy update that brought with it a larger capacity diesel engine and warranted an upgrade to Discovery 4. While for 2014, Land Rover has dropped the '4', and replaced the 'Land Rover' badge on the bonnet for a 'Discovery' badge. Read the full article

Land Rover Discovery 5 is alive
Land Rover Discover Sport 5: engines and tech spec
Let’s deal with the nitty-gritty first. The new Land Rover Discovery 5 is 4970mm long, 2220mm wide (including the mirrors) and 1846mm tall – that’s 141mm longer, but marginally narrower and lower than the vehicle it replaces. The 2923mm wheelbase is 38mm longer than before, to the benefit of passenger room. The 480kg weight saving comes from a new monocoque body construction that is 83% aluminium (some 43% of which comes from recycled sources). There’s high-strength aluminium for the crash structure, while the entire bodyside – like that of the Jaguar F-Type – is pressed from a single aluminium sheet. This is great for reduced construction complexity and increased structural strength, but may prove interesting from a crash-repair perspective…
Engine choices for the new Discovery are as follows:
2.0-litre SD4 turbodiesel four-cylinder 237bhp, 369lb ft, 8.3sec 0-62mph, 43.5mpg, 171g/km: This is a new engine for the new model, and the most powerful Ingenium diesel to date 3.0-litre Td6 turbodiesel V6 254bhp, 443lb ft, 8.1sec 0-62mph, 39.2mpg, 189g/km: while that’s only a 2bhp improvement over the old Disco Td6, 0-62mph is 1.3sec faster and CO2 emissions are down from 203g/km 3.0-litre Si6 supercharged petrol V6 335bhp, 332lb ft, 7.1sec 0-62mph, 26.0mpg, 256g/km: not likely to be a massive UK seller, but JLR’s supercharged six has plenty of character. There will be five UK trim levels at launch. Here’s what they come with and what they will cost. Entry level Discovery S: Eight-speed auto, twin-speed transfer box, air suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels with full-size spare wheel Seven seats, powered tailgate and powered inner tailgate Cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, heated windscreen, heated door mirrors, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth InControl Touch infotainment (no sat-nav) InControl Protect, with collision detection, automatic SOS calling, Optimised Assistance for transmitting breakdown information to a recovery company (we’re saying nothing…) From £43,395 on the road (OTR), SD4 engine only Discovery SE: Automatic LED headlights, power-fold mirrors, front foglights Leather upholstery, 12x12 power-adjust heated front seats, interior mood lighting 250w hifi, SD Navigation, front and rear parking sensors £49,495-£52,295 (+£6,000 over S) Discovery HSE: 20-inch alloy wheels, ‘Signature’ taillights Windsor leather upholstery, 16x16 memory front seats, heated rear seats, fixed panoramic roof, gesture-control tailgate, 380w Meridian Hi-Fi InControl Touch Pro, including 10-inch touchscreen, 3G WiFi for eight devices, app connectivity and ‘route-learning’ SSD Navigation that aims to optimise your commute automatically InControl Remote Premium, allows you to unlock the Disco with your smartphone or smartwatch, and to remote set the climate control before departure Keyless entry (in case your smartphone is broken), Driver Condition Monitor (fancy name for one of those systems that tells you that you need a coffee), rear view camera, blind spot monitors £56,995-£59,995 (+£7,500 over SE) Discovery HSE Luxury: 21-inch alloys Extended leather upholstery, winged headrests (like a modern airliner), heated and cooled front seats, heated steering wheel Opening sun roof, four-zone climate control, configurable interior mood lighting 825w Meridian Hi-Fi, rear-seat entertainment screens Surround-view camera system, Terrain Response 2 off-road tech £62,695-£65,695 (+£5,700 over HSE) Discover First Edition Launch edition limited to 600 examples in the UK, based on HSE Luxury Premium metallic paint: Namib Orange, Silicon Silver or Farallon Black 22-inch alloys (finished in gloss black if you opt for Namib Orange) Black exterior detailing (including the roof with Namib Orange) Heated windscreen, heated and cooled front and second row seats, contrast piping and stitching, front centre console cooler compartment All Terrain Progress Control, Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning, self-parking Park Assist, 360-degree parking sensors, Activity key £68,295 with Td6 engine only Click to Post

Land Rover Range Rover Engines Supply and Fitted
The Range Rover is a British made, full-sized luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the Land Rover marque under Jaguar Land Rover, one of several auto manufacturers owned by Tata Motors, a part of the Indian multinational conglomerate Tata Group. The Range Rover was launched in 1970 by British Leyland. This flagship model is now in its fourth generation. Jaguar Land Rover has expanded the use of the Land Rover Range Rover sub-brand to include the Range Rover Evoque, the Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Sport. RANGE ROVER SPORT: On 26 November 2004, Land Rover released the first photographs of the Range Rover Sport, a new model it planned to show to the public for the first time at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. The Range Rover Sport is a production car development of the Range Stormer concept vehicle the company showcased in the 2004 North American International Auto Show. Though called the Range Rover Sport "L319", it was not merely a new specification within the Range Rover line-up, but rather an adapted Discovery "L320", or T5 Platform Discovery/LR3 with Range Rover exterior styling and Range Rover interior seating and dash forms, a shortened wheelbase, smaller luggage capacity and a single rather than split tailgate which was angled back for styling improvements. With entry model pricing close to upper Discovery models, the Sport became the biggest seller of all the Land Rover products. This model was released for sale in late 2004 as a 2004 model. In 2013 a redesigned version was released for sale as a 2014 model year "L494". Unlike the original and current Discovery, it is does not have a steel chassis rails but is based on the new D7u alloy Platform, which much more resembles current flagship Range Rover with closer equipment levels and capabilities in a smaller body style. Hence the L494 Range Rover Sport is around 400 kg lighter than the previous generation and benefits in performance due to its weight reduction. Range Rover Evoque The Range Rover Evoque, which went into production in July 2011, has its roots in the Land Rover LRX concept car; with which it bears an almost identical resemblance. It is available with either a three-door or five-door hatchback body, front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and with a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine or one of two different power output 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines. In 2012, at the Geneva Motor Show, Land Rover unveiled a convertible concept, which featured four seats and a drop-down tailgate. Range Rover Velar Land Rover unveiled a mid-size crossover using the Range Rover name in March 2017. Named the Range Rover Velar, it has a roof line running away on its bodywork and use the same platform as the Jaguar F-Pace, which serve as the basis for its design. Click to Post

Range Rover Sport Review
More Range Rover, more Sport, but can this new-generation premium SUV offer more than its competitors? Pros and Cons Pros Brilliant petrol engines and frugal diesel Lush, high-quality cabin Sharp steering Fine ride quality Off-road ability Sharp handling... Cons ... but only on optional Continental 21-inch tyres, and only V8 Supercharged comes close to matching dynamics of Cayenne Expensive and extensive options list Diesel suffers lag off the line Racetrack in the morning, off-road course by noon – that was the itinerary for the local launch of the second-generation Range Rover Sport. Although the first-generation Range Rover Sport that launched in 2005 was a huge success for the brand, it was based on an off-road-focused chassis shared with the Land Rover Discovery. It was enough to put the Range Rover in its name, but fell short of adequately addressing the Sport bit of the badge. Now, the British manufacturer claims it has listened to what customers wanted – more Range Rover, more Sport, they told – to create a Range Rover Sport that is actually based on the Range Rover proper. That means a car-like chassis construction, and a body made entirely of aluminium to save up to 420kg depending on the model. It also makes for a lush cabin that near mirrors its more expensive sibling. The Range Rover Sport local line-up first consists of two diesels, the $102,800 TDV6 and $113,600 SDV6 SE, $125,800 HSE and $145,500 Autobiography. All use a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6, the TDV6 producing 190kW of power at 4000rpm and 600Nm of torque at 2000rpm in base trim, while the SDV6 gets an extra 25kW but the same torque. The petrol V6 Supercharged is available only in HSE trim, and costs $2700 less than the equivalent SDV6 HSE diesel, at $123,800. The petrol 3.0-litre’s 250kW/450Nm results in the same claimed 7.2-second 0-100km/h as the diesel 3.0-litre SDV6, though compared with the TDV6 both are 0.4 seconds faster to that increment. The petrol, however, claims 11.3L/100km combined, where the diesels claim 7.5L/100km and 7.3L/100km respectively. For the full blown (literally) Range Rover Sport experience, the petrol V8 Supercharged (above) is the one. It’s a hefty step up from the model with two fewer cylinders, though, but the $161,600 HSE Dynamic and $182,400 Autobiography Dynamic score, as the name suggests, an Adaptive Dynamics package. This includes active front and rear anti-roll bars and torque vectoring. Naturally, the V8 Supercharged goes and drinks harder – the 375kW/625Nm engine claims a 5.3-second 0-100km/h and 13.8L/100km combined. The cabin of all models is a masterpiece. The Range Rover Sport interior largely mimics the styling of the Range Rover proper, except with lower seating; highlighted by the driver’s elbow naturally falling on the door armrest now rather than aligning with the window sill. The seats are more like armchairs, the furnishings – with a hugely customisable range of colours and trims – all look modern and feel high quality, and both rear seat and boot space is expectedly generous. For the first time, there is the option ($3700 on all models) to add ‘+2’ seating with power folding in the rear (although none were available at launch) as well, but unlike the proper third-row pews in the Discovery, Land Rover admits these are ‘sometimes’ seats. A downside is the extensive options list of this new Range Rover Sport. Although a reversing camera with sensors is standard across the range, front sensors, auto dimming mirrors, xenon headlights and auto high beam are a combined $3860 option on TDV6 and SDV6 SE. Also optional on those entry-level models are paddleshifters ($460), electrically adjustable front seats ($3000) and keyless auto-entry ($3000). Even the $182,400 V8 Supercharged Autobiography has options (that are the same price across the range) including adaptive cruise control ($4700), panoramic sunroof ($4000), surround view camera ($1800), auto park assist ($1490), blind spot monitor with reverse traffic detection ($1420), tyre pressure monitoring ($900) and adaptive headlights ($1000), among others. There are dramatic differences with the way each Range Rover Sport specification drives, too, depending on what engine and options are chosen. The TDV6 and SDV6 will be the most popular models, the latter more so because Land Rover claims that most buyers usually pick the model one-up from base. We only tested the SDV6 (above) and while it proved amply powerful and admirably refined, it doesn’t gel with the newfound dynamism of the Range Rover Sport. It’s a bit doughy off the line, and lacks the crisp throttle reponse of the petrol models. The eight-speed ZF automatic transmission – standard with every engine in the range – is a pearler, both seamless in regular mode and intuitive in Sport, though it automatically upshifts in manual mode. Swapping into the V6 Supercharged (above) is a revelation. Where many petrol engines struggle to offer the low-down torque characteristics of a diesel, and of which are crucial in a heavy SUV application, the V6 Supercharged produces 450Nm between 3500-5000rpm. It also makes 250kW at a heady 6500rpm, so it’s both effortless down low and, up top, sounds raunchy and offers a crisp throttle. Although the V8 Supercharged (above) is ultimately faster than the V6 Supercharged, and sounds even harder-edged with lots of exhaust crackle thrown in, it struggles to justify its price premium. On a pragmatic level, it would be difficult enough to swallow the refill costs of the petrol versus the hugely efficient diesel alone, but the Big Daddy model makes that even more of an issue. There are also differences in the way each car handles. The SDV6 tested came with standard 20-inch alloy wheels. Despite the 255mm-wide footprint, the tyres lacked grip and were squeal prone, undermining the improved chassis of this Range Rover Sport. Whether the thick sidewalls or Pirelli Cinturato rubber were to blame, we’re not sure, but the optional ($800) 21-inch wheels with lower profile 275mm-wide Continental tyres fitted to the V6 and V8 Supercharged solved the problem. Turn-in was crisper, and agility changing direction transformed. The 21s are a $2400 option on the SDV6, but Land Rover says they use multiple tyre suppliers and can’t guarantee the brand… Adaptive dynamics on the V8 Supercharged takes the sharpness of the Range Rover Sport to a higher level. The handling-enhancing hardware is an $8100 option on SDV6, though curiously it isn’t available on the V6 Supercharged. On the track, the V8 Supercharged still lacks the hewn-into-the-surface feeling of a Porsche Cayenne, but it’s entertainingly sporting (bordering on sporty). We’re told it is 2.7 seconds slower around the Nurburgring than its German foe. On the road, though, the new Range Rover Sport delivers a level of ride comfort that the Cayenne (or the BMW X6) can’t come close to matching. Whether the Sport rides on 20s or 21s matters little – all ride with soothing compliance, yet offer brilliant control over undulations and speed, eradicating the classic ‘head toss’ that remains slightly evident in the softer Range Rover proper. At the international launch of the Range Rover last year, engineers responded to criticism of the steering’s slight vacancy on the centre position and slowness on rotation by saying “just wait for the Sport”. True, the Sport’s steering is superbly direct and sharp on centre. Off road, the Range Rover Sport still lives up to the first two words in its name. Use the Terrain Response 2 dial on the centre console to select from grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts or sand/rocks depending on the view out the front window. The screen between the speedometer and tachometer will indicate whether you should select low-range gearing, off-road ride height – the air suspension can be raised by 65mm at less than 50km/h – or hill descent control. The Range Rover Sport is, however, the first Range Rover that has low range gearing optional (on V6 Supercharged only). Perhaps just to prove a point, Land Rover didn’t provide such equipped models for the off-road course at the launch. Each still powered up steep rocky climbs, eased down grassy slopes, churned through mud, and used its wheels like tentacles over articulations, all with utter nonchalance. That the new Range Rover Sport is now nearly as dynamic as the class benchmarks (Cayenne and X6) while riding much more smoothly, going further off road and offering a more sophisticated interior than either of them is testament to this new generation’s excellence. Just as the Volkswagen Golf does in the small car class, the Range Rover Sport offers all things to all people shopping in this loftier, six-figure atmosphere. Click to Post

Land Rover Discovery 4 Review and Specfications
The Discovery 4 (called the LR4 in North America) is an updated version of the Discovery 3. Using the same Integrated Body Frame structure, the new Discovery has altered front and rear light units and a restyled front grille and bumper to adopt the same smoother, rounder style as also adapted for the 2010 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The Discovery 4 also retains the body-colored wheel arches and bumpers as the late Discovery 3s (early D3s had black plastic trim). Optional Daylight Running Lamps can be specified whilst LED lights feature prominently in both front and rear lamp units. Pre-facelift Discovery 4 TDV6 (Australia) Facelift Discovery 4 HSE (Europe) Facelift Discovery 4 TDV6 (Australia) Interior The majority of the changes are mechanical, with reliability issues addressed, improvements to engines and gearboxes, brake and suspension refinements, but also included major interior upgrades with a more luxurious and contemporary interior with greater luxury and technology levels available. The D4 receives two engines from Jaguar Land Rover's Gen III range. The TDV6 Gen III is a 3.0-litre development of the 2.7-litre engine used in the D3. The new version features advanced twin-sequential turbochargerswhere a Variable geometry turbocharger is used at low engine speeds, with a second standard turbo is brought online at higher engine speeds. Two versions of the 3.0-litre diesel are offered. Fuel economy was improved over the previous generation diesel while power, torque and diesel NVH were improved significantly. This system provides greater output than the older engine, with 241 bhp (180 kW) and 600 N•m (440 lb•ft) whilst reducing CO2 emissions by 10 percent when first introduced and in 2014 increased to 188 kilowatts (252 hp). The Gen III version of the V8 petrol engine (available in markets outside the UK such as North America, Russia, Japan, Australia, and some EU countries) is now a 5-litre unit with Direct Petrol Injection developing 385 bhp (287 kW) and 520 N•m (380 lb•ft). An improved version of the ZF six-speed automatic/sequential gearbox was incorporated and in 2012 was further improved including a change to 8 speeds. It includes taller gearing to take advantage of the new engines' greater torque output and an updated lock-up system to further reduce fuel consumption. Other technical changes include the fitting of the more powerful brakes from the Range Rover Sport and thicker anti-roll bars to improve on-road handling. The Stability Control System now includes a programme that detects the onset of understeer and applies the brakes. The Discovery 4 retains its predecessor's fully independent air suspension with cross-linking when off-road and the twin-range transfer gearbox with an electronic infinitely variable locking centre differential. As before, a similar locking rear differential is available. The Terrain Response system remains but with two new features – the 'Sand' mode incorporates a new traction control mode to prevent loss of traction when starting off and stopping in soft sand, and the 'Rock Crawl' mode gains a feature that applies gentle brake pressure at low (less than walking pace) speeds to improve grip and stability on slick rock. The system is also 'retuned' to account for the new engines and gearboxes with their different torque characteristics. Other new electronic systems include Trailer Stability Assist which can adjust the throttle and brakes to prevent a dangerously swaying trailer. The 2.7-litre TDV6 engine was available in Europe on the basic 2.7 GS passenger and 2010 Commercial ranges. Unlike the Discovery 3 base model, this was equipped with air suspension and the Terrain Response system. The automatic transmission was an option on this model. The 3.0-litre Gen III model (only with automatic transmission) is also available in the GS trim level. The Discovery 4 also features a redesigned interior (in keeping with the new styles introduced elsewhere in the LR range for 2010). The instrument cluster is updated with redesigned analogue speedometer and tachometer gauges for improved clarity. The analogue temperature/fuel gauges of the previous model and the electronic information display are replaced by a single TFT screen capable of displaying information in a variety of modes and formats. The interior also has a new centre console, which includes redesigned and simplified switches and controls. The Discovery also has a new seat design and a wider range of available interior materials – some previously only seen in Range Rover models. The stated aim of the interior redesign was to lift the vehicle upmarket, with higher-spec models now aimed at the luxury and executive markets. The car gains some electronic systems from the Range Rover lineup, such as the optional 'Surround Camera System' – a series of cameras located in the front bumper, door mirrors, and rear tailgate handle which can display their images on the centre console screen to improve visibility (although the image quality of this system was downgraded by Land Rover around 2014). Other electronic systems are intended to improve efficiency – the engines feature a 'Smart' alternator that only charges the battery when engine load is low, thus helping to reduce fuel consumption when the engine is working harder. The Discovery 4 was unveiled in the summer of 2009 and went on sale in the United Kingdom on 1 September that year. A Commercial van variant was released in the UK at the same time using the 2.7 engine and offered in GS and XS trim levels. In the Republic of Ireland a Commercial van was offered from 1 January 2010 based on the XE 2.7 manual and HSE 3.0 auto engines. An armoured Discovery with B6 ballistic level of protection was announced in 2010. It offers numerous safety features designed to protect the occupants, including protection from grenades and small arms fire. The vehicle is indistinguishable from the standard LR4. For the 2011 model year announced late 2010, the 2.7-litre engine was dropped and two versions of the 3.0-litre engine were made available – one called the TDV6 and one called the SDV6 (the latter offering 245 bhp). For the 2012 model year, diesel models in Europe came with the new eight-speed auto gearbox with steering wheel paddle controls and a circular dial selector that raises upon startup. The SDV6 engine was uprated to 255 bhp (190 kW) whilst both diesel engines featured reduced emissions for European models. During 2012 the HSE Luxury special edition was announced, featuring enhanced trim levels, and available in Europe and North American markets. In Ireland, 2012 saw the introduction of a new five-seat version of the Discovery 4 classified as an N1 Commercial vehicle, therefore attracting lower VRT rates. There is also a new two-seat Commercial on the same rules. All Irish models came with the lower emissions TDV6 engine. In 2014, an enhanced version of the unique-to-Ireland five-seater commercial utility went on sale which included almost all top-of-the-range features for a lower price. This vehicle is now the top selling Discovery in Ireland due to the fact that it attracts low road tax (€333 per year) and VAT can be reclaimed. For 2013, models received a style freshening, new badging, new fuel stretching technology, improved audio systems and a new range of driver assistance, comfort and safety features. The 2014 Discovery comes with a standard ZF 8HP transmission, and in some markets can be supplied with a one-speed transfer case (replacing the two speed transfer case). 2014 also marks the first use of a 2,995 cc (2.995 L; 182.8 cu in) supercharged six cylinder engine, replacing the previous V6 and V8 offerings. In a January 2011 comparison test by Car and Driver, the Land Rover LR4 came in fourth place out of five cars behind the Audi Q7, BMW X5, and Acura MDX. However, it has always won the Auto Express categories of Best Large SUV and Best Towcar since it was launched in 2009. To celebrate 25 years of the Land Rover Discovery, a special edition of 1800 vehicles was produced in 2014 marked as the XXV, and featured a number of unique details including light grey (Cirrus) XXV-embossed Windsor leather seats, special grill sets, and almost every extra and expansion pack available. A number of these were exported in silver grey and the darker causeway grey for UK markets. A major milestone in Land Rover Discovery's history came when the one millionth examples built rolled off the Solihull production line in March 2012. This vehicle, along with two similar examples, was driven from Solihull to Beijing, China in a replication of a 1950s expedition. During this expedition, G459 WAC, a pre-production Discovery 1 (which was subsequently converted into an amphibious vehicle) joined in the celebrations when the expedition visited Lake Geneva. The expedition concluded with the actual Millionth Discovery appearing at the Beijing Motor Show. This vehicle subsequently returned to go on permanent exhibition at the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire, England. Click to Post

Land Rover Discovery 4
The Land Rover Discovery is a mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle or suburban utility vehicle, (SUV) is a vehicle classified as a light truck, but operated as a family vehicle. SUVs are similar to a large station wagon or estate car, though typically featuring tall interior packaging, high H-point seating, high center of gravity, high ground-clearance and especially four- or all-wheel-drive capability for on- or off-road ability. Some SUVs include the towing capacity of a pickup truck with the passenger-carrying space of a minivan or large sedan. The Discovery was initially only available as a three-door version; the five-door body style became available in 1990. Fifth-generation 2017 Land Rover Discovery full of surprises
As vehicles continue to become increasingly technology-driven, the upcoming fifth-generation Land Rover Discovery is about to debut a new world-first innovation: Intelligent Seat Fold Technology. The redesigned 2017 full-size SUV has available seating for seven, and customers choosing the extra passenger capacity will get to use this unique feature that can electronically reconfigure the second and third rows straight from their Apple or Android smartphone.
By simply installing the Land Rover InControl Touch Pro companion app, users can rearrange the seats — like lay them flat — remotely using a few taps. As an example, this could be done while shopping to avoid fumbling awkwardly with latches in the parking lot afterwards to make room for fresh purchases. All rows have optional heated seats, the first and second can be heated and cooled, and there is a massage function for occupants up front. Similar to its smaller family member the F-PACE, the Discovery includes an “Activity Key” waterproof wristband that acts as the key fob. Adventurous types out swimming or hiking can leave the actual vehicle remote safely stowed inside the cabin and lock/unlock the doors by holding the band next to the rear tailgate. The SUV is equally up to adventuring, receiving a second-gen Terrain Response 2 system that optimizes everything from throttle response to shift points depending on the mode selected such as Grass, Gravel & Snow, Mud & Ruts, Rock Crawl and more. Or, users can rotate the dial to Auto to have the computer determine the ideal settings for the environment.
