"hey, rose." jasper says, a serious look on his face, as always. he still struggled a bit, with the thirst, with avoiding feeding from humans. he was getting better though, as time went on. "how have you been?"

"i hate summer here." victoria muttered, finally being able to go out now that it was dusk, that the sun was safely settling. "the sun is always far too bright, i hate being shut up all day." she missed winter, at least most days it was cloudy enough that she could enjoy the city, unlike now, where she had to stick to the outdated vampire rules.

the words float through the previously empty room. they’re aimed at her -- of course, they are. most of his digs, of late, are aimed at her. honey hues roll in their socket, as she lowers the book resting in her palms, her focus finding his eyes. ( they’re darker than hers. perhaps, she should be kinder. ) lips pierce slightly as she studies his appearance for a moment longer, before she’s returning her focus to her previous reading. “maybe for someone with a weak constitution,” a short pause, before rubied lips are reopening. “someone like you.”

It was always nice to see their cousins, as Alaska hadn't offered much visitation when the opposite family decided to delve into lives of teenagers and valued occupations. Their own agendas and concerns on ensuring there hadn't been much notice of their ages, but that didn't mean Kate didn't miss the Cullen family. She did. Their covens were similar. "Rosalie," she greeted as she approached the fellow vegetarian vampire, a smile upon perfect features. "As always, it's wonderful to see you. How have you been?" she extended her hand, grabbing onto the other's as a means to further the kindness and greeting.

no. the word would have easily rolled off her tongue, but rosalie was trying to do better and be better. not for bella or edward, truly she wished they would disappear off the face of the earth again. perhaps another trip to brazil as an anniversary gift? but no, she was doing it for the baby. renesmee was the light of her life and everything had been better since the day she was born. so if it meant curling up glossy lips on a fake smile to please her niece's baby mother? she would do it. or try to. sighing, the blonde wets her lips before glancing at the younger girl. ❝ do you want me to coddle you like everyone else does or be honest? just wondering what we're feeling today. ❞ well, it was progress. right?
