Well, I was sufficiently enabled for the idea, so here it is: ✨Alex P. Keaton's Top Neurodivergent Moments✨

The funny thing is that the amount of time I put into scrolling through my encyclopedic mental inventory of Family Ties scenes, compiling these moments in a list, making gifs, and finding past gifsets/analysis to link back to makes creating this post one of my most neurodivergent moments. Good for me.

These will be organized by season (easier for me than trying to rank on a scale) and are in no way ALL of the moments. I'd need like...15 posts for that. Also, tumblr only allows 30 images/gifs per post, so I'm going to include links to past posts when possible.

• Alex gets his first-ever failing grade and immediately decides to quit school

Exactly what it says. Alex strolls into college all bright-eyed and confident and ends up a broken shell of a guy just a week or so later. The prototypical Gifted Kid from the moment he learned to speak, Alex cannot handle anything less than perfection. Getting the first F of his life shatters his entire self-image, and he wants to drop out of college entirely.

• Alex's friend Doug announces he's getting married, and Alex spirals into despair. As one does.

The entirety of the "Best Man" episode is one big Alex displaying neurodivergent behaviors moment, honestly. There are a whole lot of Alex-centered plots that are set into motion because A Change happens, and he just cannot deal with it, and this is one of the best examples. Alex is so distraught at the suddenly altered dynamic that he wanders the house like a lost soul—sad and confused and needy. He walks in on Steven's shower just to give him a hug, offers to go shopping with Mal and play dolls with Jen, and also draws up a seven-year contract for his other friends to sign to ensure they stick to their regularly scheduled card games, lest they also run off to get married and destroy his life.

• Alex P. Keaton: child development expert

When faced with the news of another sibling on the way, Alex has some very nurturing advice at the ready for when the baby is crying.

• The Keatons all laugh at a funny story. Alex is not amused.

This is one of my favorite Alex scenes of the series. Uncle Rob shares a memory of the time Steven was young and got in trouble because he started rebelling against the system and refused to write his name in the designated spot on his school test papers. The family shares a hearty laugh. Alex, king of black-and-white thinking and lover of rules, is deeply upset.

I love him so much. He genuinely cannot see how they're enjoying such a story. The Name Spot is for names. And his father dared to write in the Not For Names Spot?? Jail for Steven.

He's so ridiculously autistic.

• Alex's favorite childhood toy

It was a cardboard box. I can't quite put into words why this sets off my ND radar, but it does. Maybe it's the being attached to unusual items thing that's common with autism? The intense fixations that make other people go ????

The Alex and Ba-ba plotline provides some wonderful Alex Lore.

• Mr. Mustache

Yeah, those intense fixations? In the "Fool for Love" episode, Alex grows a mustache and legitimately cannot speak about anything else for the several days that follow. He's asked to present a speech at Mallory's homecoming dance and centers his entire speech around his mustache. He's unable to have a conversation that doesn't involve mustaches. It's incredible.

• Everything in "Matchmaker"

Alex is so sweet in this one. After Mallory comes home crying after a bad date, Alex promises to help her find a great guy. Unfortunately, putting someone who struggles socially and with processing emotions in charge of your love life isn't exactly a great fit. Alex uses the power of science to craft a formula to find Mallory's perfect match (he isn't), then tags along on their date and helps foster a very natural environment (it isn't) for the relationship to flourish (it doesn't).

The episode ends with a great scene between Alex and Mallory that shows just how well Mal understands the inner-workings of her big brother's head.

• Divorce is tough. Alex has some advice.

The Keaton kids are shocked to learn that their Uncle Rob is divorcing their Aunt Maureen. As Jen and Mallory reel from the information, Alex helps to reframe things.

He then pulls out the Special Interest Card and compares the divorce of their aunt and uncle to a "failed merger, not unlike the breakup of the phone company—although obviously less emotional. Nothing more than a natural fluctuation in the marketplace of love and marriage."

And the thing is, he IS impacted by the news. He just hasn't the slightest clue how to actually process it. So, a simple failed merger it is!

• You had one job

Mallory needs some croissants for a fancy get-together she's having with her poetry class. Alex helpfully offers to go pick them up.

Now, I debated about this one because there's part of me that's like, "Hmm, did Alex purposely do this to annoy Mallory?" Is this just a jerk move? But you know what? It stays on the list because the whole "I personally don't like this thing and struggle to see how anyone else could. Therefore, I will get the thing I like" is (for me) a relatable aspect of being ND.

• Every single second of "A, My Name is Alex"

For real, though. This episode is a deep dive into how Alex became the person he is, and it is FILLED with "flashbacks" of an intensely neurodivergent child whose issues were made worse by the people around him. (Mostly teachers and peers. Steven and Elyse did their best with him, but I do also have some critiques of the way they parented him). Anyway, he represses his emotions to the point of a meltdown

• "Alex has a weird body"

That's Mallory's explanation to Andy as to why Alex can't help her when she needs someone to model one of her latest clothing creations. She says Alex's head is too big for his body, and those words, unfortunately, find their way back to him. In a mini plot reminiscent of the mustache one, Alex proceeds to obsess over the comment.

And I mean, I think being told your head is too big for your body would make anyone insecure, but it's the way Alex handles it. He's unable to have regular conversations for a while because he can't stop fixating on the size of his noggin'.

Both of the "Read it and Weep" episodes fit in this list, to be honest

She sings, and also sews! If she ever managed to meet Link and Zelda she'd make them matching flannel frog plushes with each others' eye and hair colors included in the color schemes.

To this day they say they faked papers and parental permission and got married at 14 as a joke. Everyone is still stunned they pulled it off

They did not. They both refuse to let anyone find out it's a hoax though.

They are really dating! A year so far and going strong.

Shisi is the only one who knows the truth about the whole shebang. She finds it pretty dang amusing, for the sole reason that Kyta and Torenn do too.

Shisi and Kyta share a love of sewing. Shisi taught Kyta to quilt and use a sewing machine and Kyta taught her to make plushes. After hearing the rumors about Zelda they would probably get her favorite colors from Impa and make her a nice quilt with fleece backing to cheer her up.

Shisi plays guitar, harp, and ocarina (>:])

Torenn can draw really well

They call their listeners their study buddies and go out of their way to occasionally throw in ridiculous songs for people to get up and stretch and dance to

the junglecorpse story primer

so i've been pretty obsessively cataloguing everything between them in my last year or so of being in AEW fandom, and since they are my Hyperfixation™️, i thought i would put together a little primer for the people who may not have been spending every waking thought thinking about the chemistry these two end up having with each other and how their story has played out. there's some videos in here that are fun watches and hopefully this adds a little bit to the knowledge bank!! (i love wrestling so much lol)

2019//

as far as we can tell, their first time ever wrestling was in 2019, which is what we like to call "the lost 2019 bar match," on february 24, 2019, at the high hat in los angeles. when we say lost, we literally mean lost. i would cut off my left arm to get a video of this damn match-up. the only video we have is a short bit from when they were hitting each other with empty water bottles, shown here. (tumblr won't let me embed these links without crashing.)

there's also one photograph of this match, posted on instagram, by a wrestling photographer:

according to cagematch, darby won this match. given how many people in that crowd have phones out, i cannot BELIEVE that we haven't been able to hunt down the rest of the videos, but here we are, crying into the abyss that we can't find this. someone has it. name your price lol. i'm very open to negotiation.

2020 //

the only thing that 2020 had in it was another "lost match," this time from the jericho cruise, so we hate jericho even more for refusing to video the matches there so we can see them when we do not have $5k to go on this trip. but this one is just a 3 v 3 match, where private party and darby beat jurassic express (jack, lucha, and marko). probably not life-changing, but i still want to see it, as a completionist.

2021 //

by 2021, they had both been in aew for several years and were settling in. darby had the TNT belt, and jack was working up through both the singles division on his own, and the tag division with luchasaurus. surprisingly, they never matched up on their own! but in april of 2021, aew asked twitter to pick darby's next opponent for the TNT, and twitter chose jack. this is where things get interesting.

darby makes a promo talking to jack about the match that gets posted on darby's twitter here and reposted to aew's twitter here. (the link doesn't work to the video anymore, but don't worry, i backed it up on my yt account because i knew twitter would implode eventually.)

this is the first time, that we can find, that anyone has gone after the "if you stop being such a goodie two-shoes, you could be great" angle with jack. this promo actually pre-dates christian cage even joining AEW (he would join in the next month or two)! but this thread remains pulled alongside jack's next several years of kayfabe stories, so it's worth pointing out that darby may have been the first person to use it.

jack makes a follow-up video for this and it gets posted on aew's twitter, and as luck would have it, that tweet no longer exists. i'm not sure where it went, to be honest. it wasn't much except "i've proven myself" and "my record is great now." it's worth noting that neither of them tag the other in their promos, which makes me laugh. darby calls jack "jungle jack," which also makes me laugh.

they have their 2021 match, which is amazing, and don't worry, i also have that video link, so if you'd like to watch it, the full thing lives here. after this, darby loses the TNT belt to miro, and jack wins the battle royale after throwing christian cage out of the ring. important story beats for both of them.

2022 //

in 2022, they end up on the same side of a 6 v 6 match that i'm assuming was kind of just random match-ups, on june 1st at the kia forum. we've watched it, because of course we have, but it wasn't anything particularly interesting haha. however, in january of 2022, jurassic express wins the tag belts. they hold them until that summer, when they lose them, and christian turns on jack. lucha then also turns on jack. jack's heel turn gets majorly delayed due to christian's injury that takes him out through the whole end of the year. at the end of 2022, junglehook starts up after hook comes out to save jack from getting the shit beat out of him (this is the start of his heel turn).

2023 //

and then we get to 2023, the year that i was watching and promptly lost my mind, because we got the pillars storyline! right before this, jack beats christian in the coffin match, which finishes that particular aspect, but it butts right up to the pillars stuff. i've waxed poetic for like 4k about how jack was supposed to be a heel in the pillars story, but everything got delayed due to christian's injury, and they had to run him as a face for this because too many people were involved, and that's not really the point here, but it sure makes a lot of the decisions made in the pillars story fucking unhinged as shit lol.

i've made a video for the junglecorpse moments in the pillars storyline that is here if you have 23 minutes to experience the absurdity of what they chose to do here.

but abridged version is that jack and darby have to team up for the pillars tag match, and don't seem to get along well. they run a full thing where mjf asks jack to betray darby (so they lose) and jack gets up in his face, and then darby walks in to see it. after this, darby comes out for jack (and sammy comes out after) to save him from LFI killing him after jack beats rush.

prior to their tag match, they run this promo with the two of them, where darby references the lost 2019 bar match (DOES HE ALSO SIT AND THINK ABOUT IT FOR HOURS??? LIKE I DO???) and also mentions that they would probably be friends if they weren't wrestlers, which is worth holding onto lmao.

in the actual pillars PPV 4-way at double or nothing, they run a large segment of jack having the belt and a clear shot to take darby out with it (and win) and he doesn't end up doing it. they make a big thing out of it. this is insane given that a month later, jack turns on hook at forbidden door 2023 and eventually takes the FTW off him. i wish to speak to whoever thought this was normal. he couldn't cheat to beat darby, who he supposedly doesn't even like, for the world championship, but can betray his best friend for an unsanctioned belt a month later??????? this makes me insane. don't touch me chompie.

also worth mentioning is jack tweeting this during the storyline, with nothing else attached to it. merry early christmas to me. (jack tends to post a single photo for important story beats, with no text on it. he's done this for quite a number of things within the last few years. weird that he did that here, when they had one tag match together.)

2024 //

and that bring us to this year! jack is back in AEW after his unjust and sad-making time out. anarchy in the arena happens at double or nothing 2024, and jack and darby spend 75% of the match beating each other up alone backstage. jack hits darby with the bus, darby sets jack on fire. it's lovely.

if you haven't seen the video that leaked of jack preparing for the fire spot in the early part of 2024 with a stunt team, it's worth watching. (no sound)

darby is out again to recover since i don't know how he managed to get clear for AITA in the first place, and then he comes back with an obsessive single-mindedness to call out jack perry by beating up brandon cutler. jack then also beats up brandon cutler in the strangest mating rituals i've ever fucking seen lmao. INTRICATE RITUALS!!

that's all i've got right now, but hopefully this ends up being a decent overview of all the stuff i tend to reference in my fics. 💚💚💚 sorry tumblr won't let me embed these videos in here, but it kept crashing the draft, so i had to revert them all just to links. homophobia.

The wildest thing about the alleged Alonso affair is that it comes up on here once or twice a year and everyone is fully invested like it's irrefutably true, but I've never met anyone who's actually SEEN the video or any of these photos outside the tumblr post. What exists from the whole apparently 5 year long situation it is an undated tweet thread screenshots, a couple of screenshots from a video (that don't match each other, let alone the date it was supposedly filmed), and selfies/photos this random girl took at/around the track.

The video screenshots are blurred faces and a man's nipple, there's nothing there to identify either of the people in it. It was allegedly posted to yt in 2012 and the caption states it's from 2012, but the timestamp on the video in the nipple screenshot is clearly June 2007; there's no timestamp or yt background on the faces screenshot at all. The video is no longer on yt (if it ever actually was).

The selfies from the track are all in places at the tracks that you can easily access if you have the money for a pass or are just places in race cities. She has only 2 photos that are actually with Alonso (i.e. that show his face); they very much give fan photo and are from the 2007-2009 era. All the dates/places applied to the other photos look like they were added by the person who took all the screenshots (I'm assuming it's the person who compiled it all in that tumblr post, since they watermarked everything), so there's no real confirmation of when or where or whose account they're actually from. Like, if you're gonna screenshot all this "evidence," why didn't you screenshot the actual social posts (with dates/screennames/etc) and not just the photos?

As for the tweets, they only exist in the screenshots from the same tumblr account that took all the other screenshots. The twitter account doesn't exist and there is no other evidence of them outside that tumblr post. Also, there isn't a full date on any of the tweets in the screenshot, so there's no proof of when they were posted outside of the 17 Jul on one of them.

The blog who put all this together was a blog entirely about Alonso's private life, which is already weird. The fact that nothing in the post is verifiable and that they compiled it all to begin with is crazy work, beyond parasocial. I'm always surprised that no one seems to realize that nothing in the post aligns with each other or seemingly real life, but I'm audhd, so the pattern recognition and skepticism are in overdrive for me. I'm not defending Alonso because he's a big boy, his actions are his own, and none of us will likely ever know the truth. But that post doesn't say Alonso had an affair to me, what it does look like is that he had (at least one) stalker.

I just took a Quick Look at the tumblr post so I didn’t really look at the details or the account, but if it is an account just for his private life, it could very well be something made up by a crazy/stalking fan

[First, I was rereading "Agua Caliente" and I remembered a song that played a lot in my childhood (and I had kind of forgotten) bc the lyrics somehow matched the Patrochilles dynamic in this fic. This is kind of funny bc I would never in my life associate sertanejo (it's a type of country music, I think? Idk I've never heard country, but the aesthetic is kind of similar. Anyway, it's pretty popular here) with shipping an ancient Greek couple in modern AU, but ok. And I went to listen to this song again and now I'm listening to it on a loop, so thanks for that.]

Now the real question! It's perhaps a strange question, but do you plan what you write? Like, before you write, do you have the whole structured idea in mind? I could have sworn it was like that reading the fics, but then some notes on Ao3 and certain things you say on Tumblr started to make me reflect that maybe you don't plan as much as I thought… in that case, how do you manage to connect everything so well without looking like something was left out/without prior planning??? It's magic, technique, luck or actually do you plan?

Sorry if the question is a bit "???" but I'm REALLY thinking about this! I used to write fics years ago and I was in the "won't plan" group and as expected the fics came out obviously unplanned (but that was ok with me bc it was just to pass the time and I didn't expect it to be an engaging story or anything), and here's why this ask exists: it's precisely bc I was in the “won't plan” group that I'm really intrigued by the possibility of you NOT planning bc it just doesn't seem that way reading your fics...

The short answer is that I do plan what I write, but probably not enough.

I rarely start writing a fic with an entire idea. Often it's just a vibe. But I won't start posting a fic until I know exactly what the conflict is and how it will be resolved.

This was easy in ATG, for example, because I'd already written the resolution before I even decided to write the fic. Structuring it by Patroclus's age also helped, because I could make an outline with the stuff that needed to happen and then jam stuff I wanted to happen around it. That "Stuff" could be really specific--obviously Pat had to graduate school and Achilles had to go to the Olympics on specific years, and it was also like, this section should have them fighting. This section should have them getting along, but Achilles is hiding this big lie so there should be a weird tension.

In Sunset, it took me longer to figure out the conflict/resolution. Sure, I knew that Achilles was going to cry on a Chicago street corner and get naked in Pat's kitchen, but why was he there? How did he get there? I had already written Achilles settling in to Pat's place and the scene where he gets into the lake before I decided on Aphrodite being the key to explain this whole thing. Then I knew Pat had to die. But a lot of the stuff that happened in the middle was sort of on a whim (particularly Achilles getting on the wrong L train-that was definitely just an impulse I had while finishing that chapter). Tecmessa's chapter was also a later addition, and a deeply self-indulgent one, hah.

Agua was the least planned of these three, and in some ways it was because the idea was a lot simpler. After three years, Achilles runs into Patroclus again and they reconcile in some way. I knew exactly how Patroclus would feel about the whole thing (relieved, guilty, upset, wounded, hopeful, upset about feeling hopeful). My original plan was just to set up Achilles in his shop and his new life doing his best and have him run into Patroclus at the beach, and eventually they'd go to the desert. I wrote parts of their meeting first, and then I started writing the beginning and ended up scrapping most of that. I realized I was going to have to do a lot more writing for poor Achilles. My lack of planning here did cause some difficulties--I had like three versions of that date he went on with Pat with different endings. One involved Pat in the hospital, lmao. Zag and Meg coming to stay with Achilles were kind of whims, and I had meant to have Hypnos show up for "his turn" and have Achilles send him home because no, these were not team-building exercises, but then I forgot 😩.

The reason that I need to know the conflict/resolution at the start is because I do think all the scenes in a fic should relate to it in some way, either by building up the conflict or setting the groundwork for a resolution. Even for the impulsive scenes I add just for fun, I think about how they can do this. For example, Achilles getting lost on the L allowed me to build up Pat's unreasonable anxiety, show that Ajax was also feeling it to some extent, and end in Pat saying "fuck it" and just giving in to making out with his hot, ancient boyfriend. It was also something that happened to a friend who was visiting me from out of the country and didn't have a working cell phone. That moment of watching him through the window of the L as it slowly pulled away is just etched in my memory.

In Agua Caliente, almost anything could relate to the resolution, because the resolution was "Achilles having a life," thus it didn't require as much planning. Zagreus's apartment getting flooded (something that happened to me in grad school) showed Achilles attempting to be flexible with some success while allowing himself to become closer to Zagreus, which led to a point of connection with his kids. It also made it easier to explain why Achilles was doing Zag's delivery that day when he ran into Pat. There were only a couple things that truly needed to happen in AC for the fic to make sense, and that was a resolution with Achilles' kids and then with Patroclus, of course.

I do get loose threads sometimes, side conflicts or things that didn't end up going anywhere, and those things tend to annoy me until I figure out a way to resolve them or make them otherwise relevant. Or I don't. Or sometimes I realize I need to add something/someone into the fic, and it would have been smoother if I'd added it in an earlier chapter so it didn't seem like a convenient thing I'd just thought of to solve a problem. That's always annoying to me. But whatever. It's fanfic. That's the risk of posting while you write.

There's nothing new about this 'Neon' marker, and this said marker will be added to my unused IMPREZA GRB car instead of my current 350Z car; by any chance, of course. 😊🟦🇯🇵🚗 By the way, you'll see it down the road, very soon for my said IMPREZA car. Dang I don't even remember what the last thing I posted was... I'm gonna post a quick recap because this is SO on my mind right now (against my will)

Bear with me I'm sick today and working with about 37% brain power

So I had been seeing a friend of mine (J) that I was referring to as my crush. Quite a few months of dates (that they referred to as dates) things were very intimate and romantic and shit. Truth be told was kind of one sided in terms of effort/emotional labour, but they're going through a lot so I was trying to be supportive. Important to note that any time things got physically intimate between us THEY initiated it, and I have been very clear about my feelings/intentions, because I literally have no other option but blunt.

And then a month ish ago they matched with a fairly close friend of mine on a dating app. The friend (K) told me asap, K didn't realize who they had just matched with, and K immediately seemed convinced that J was trying to throw a wrench in our "relationship" (for lack of a better word)

When I asked J to give me a heads up if they were interested in a friend of mine, they were super shitty about it, saying "I don't like that you think I need your permission to like your friend" and called me possessive. Eyeroll.

We were making plans to meet up and chat about what we wanted/where things were going, I gave them my availability, but they never got back to me. A week later K came by my house and let me know that they had hung out multiple times since then.

(Side note: K initially seemed to be trying to help me out by letting me know about the dating site thing, but they very quickly got SUPER WEIRD about it, and for some reason were offended that I didn't want anything to do with this situation. We had a couple conversations where K grilled me about how I would feel in various romantic type situations involving the three of us, and while I was clear that I was not interested in any of that, it seemed like K was trying to... almost convince me??? It was SO weird. K ended up getting super upset, seemed far more emotionally involved than made sense to me, and ended up storming out of my house angrily.

It was really odd. I thought I knew K fairly well but I saw an entire new side of them and I could not for the life of me sort out what the hell they were trying to tell me. K genuinely seemed upset and offended that I did not want to do a throuple or hinge type thing. I'm not explaining well, but it was all enough for me to feel like HELL NO I want nothing to do with this. )

Anyways, I sent J a text making it very clear that from this point forward I wasn't interested in anything beyond platonic friendship, and told them that if we hung out again I would need them to keep their hands to the self.

Since then K has sent me a couple memes here and there, I haven't responded because our last interaction was so off-putting that I really just want them to leave me alone.

I haven't said anything to J since, either.

ANYWAYS the relevant update bit is that in the last week J (who doesn't generally spend much time on social media) has been changing/updating and posting pictures on their facebook all of a sudden. They changed back and forth between some multiple year old cover pictures, posted new selfies, bunch of shit. We used to interact on fb mostly, and them suddenly posting was notable.

Then I started seeing interactions from them on my tiktok account, watching my videos, and then following a new account that I made. Then the next day they posted a video of them singing on tiktok.

Now I don't want to assume that the world revolves around me, but this has been such novel behaviour that i started to wonder if they were trying to get my attention????

Anyways today they commented "meow" on a video I posted of Molly.

I know them, and I know how crappy they can be at communicating, so at this point I genuinely think they're trying to get my attention. I'm still hurt and upset and right now I am undecided if I even want to be friends with them!

So I'm going to continue not answering them. I bet my friend Dez that if I keep ignoring them it will keep escalating.

God forbid they just communicate like a grown up 🙄

I went and visited my tarot friend. We talked for a solid hour. Well. She talked. The poor woman is starved for social interaction. Like mom said; she's the most introverted extrovert we know lol

She kept apologizing but I'm just the happiest camper listening to people yap ( ´∀｀ )b

We talked about her kids a bit. One is out as Ace. "I don't know if you know what that is but"

Me: *shyly raises hand* Yeah, I.. I am too..🖐 ( ´∀｀; )

She said her kid said she wondered if her mom was. And she's like "Well, honey. I had you." Like I've had sex.

Of course I was like "actually, that's a common misconception....." 👀

And she was telling me how her kid gets the whole "you just haven't met the right person" "who says that to someone??" (Bless her) but then said something that made me point out that there's sexual identities and then there's romantic ones.

So like. We need to talk about these in depth. 👀

Also her kid is "dating". A kid that's been around for years. Friend doesn't know how to refer to them, as a boyfriend or what lol.

She was telling me he'll ask her kid to come over and she'll bring her sister. Like honey. Your SO probably just wants you.

I'm like lol that's something I would do. At least until I was comfortable enough to be alone.

But this was one of the things shes glad her kid has someone to understand her. And put up with her OCD and anxiety

You don't know how many times I wanted to go "That's the autism"

So many times.

Every time I see her.

Even the things she herself experiences.

She was telling me how she LOVES seeing her friends. But. Only one at a time. No new people. and we have a hard time reaching out. To go see them. And that she's a magnet for the weird and unique.

She overthinks so much.

Her BFF is going through it but she's not sure how to reach out. So she made a little handmade zen garden. And a matching one for herself so when her friend uses it, she can think of her. And she's overthinking the gift, not wanting to be weird. To her BFF.

I love her so much, she's so precious.

I was telling her about tumblr. How all the queer and neurodivergent people are here. She would like it.. but I feel like it may be too much. She's a little sheltered.

She said "yeah, I think that's one (kid) said no to. That I'd be overwhelmed."

Like. Yes.

My sweet friend. She must be protected at all costs

But also I think I'm going to start a collection of Autism vibe posts because tumblr was HUGE in identifying my own neurodivergency so.

It's more helpful than traditional literature.

Because we seriously need to have a talk. 🤭 This whole fae family be on the spectrum.

Things... Things have happened.

Okay, so it's been a minute, like usual. There are a few women to update you on. Before we do that, we need context.

It's December 23, 2022, but we all know that I consider it the night before until I actually fall asleep, so in my books, it's December 22, 2022 right now. It's raining (quite randomly) at 5:00 AM, which makes this the most opportune time to write. It has been some time since I have actually written on tumblr and that's because I was expecting to export the blog to a site that was more stable. That hasn't happened yet. Because there has been so much time since the last post, let's try to update you to the best of our ability.

Valerie: Where to even begin. It's been over two years since we have spoken. I am doing my best to not reach out to her. She doesn't need me in her life. She just doesn't. Doesn't make it any harder to write and delete messages to her. I have gone onto Instagram to write a message to her, but always delete the entire thing without sending it. It's honestly embarrassing how often I have done this. I need to stop before I hit send by mistake, for example, trying to catch my phone as it's falling (because I'm clumsy) and then *BOOM* sent. I keep seeing things that remind me of her: her literal first name popping up everywhere (autocorrect, dating apps, people following my socials), mannerisms that people do, reminders from a unexpected photo or sentimental item that I thought I had gotten rid of. Now, after rest, a clear mind, and not being intoxicated, let's continue this. I'm not going to continue writing about Valerie after that intermission as I've been trying to distance her from my mind, as hard as it is. Let's talk about what has been going on with dating since the last update which was on March 21st, 2022. There have been dates, there have been interactions, and there's been a lot of personal growth. Let's speak about the romantic interests I've had, but I probably won't touch on everything since there have been quite a few months between then and now. I'll write in the order from most recent to the oldest. Squeekers: So, Squeekers is someone that I matched with on a latin dating application. I definitely wasn't expecting to start talking to her, but she's a very pleasant surprise. We started talking last week starting on Saturday, December 17th. She's not my typical romantic interest because she is about 10 years younger than me. When I saw her on the dating app, I just looked at her profile pictures (thought she was cute), read her profile (thought it was funny), and decided to swipe on her based on that. She was traveling on a trip up north when I got her telephone number. Since we've been talking, there's been a lot of topics that we've touched on. Some of the biggest things we've spoken about are the 1) age gap (life differences, how that would affect introducing each other to family, and a lot of jokes), 2) being open and vulnerable about things that have happened to us, and 3) already some hurtful experiences. Let's dive into each of these.

The obvious elephant in the room is the age difference between us. She's a lot younger than women I tend to speak to, which means that there are some things that we just don't see eye-to-eye on and cultural differences. Some of these differences are things I don't quite see the appeal to, but I'm trying to not be so critical because I tend to compare dates to my idealized perfect partner. Onto family, I think that would be a big hurdle for us to overcome because I just don't see either of them accepting the relationship. It could be very impossible to convince either family that this would be a good thing. There have been some funny jokes about our ages. She has been calling me old man and I like to play around that I'm geriatric and going to need my walker. I don't mind the age difference and she doesn't either, but it'll take a lot of work to get through it.

A day or so ago, she told me that she thought we should just be friends. I started getting defensive and withdrawing like I do many times whenever someone rejects me. I started being an asshole by saying that I'd been talking to other women (which I wasn't lying about), which caused her to also get defensive and say to go talk to them. I ended up telling her about my childhood trauma. I didn't want her seeing me, but she decided to FaceTime me anyway. I was crying because of...

Flash forward to March 10, 2023

I've been talking to Squeekers for some time. She's just not the one for me, by a long shot. There's so much that I just downright don't like/want for a partner, but she's at least fun to have a casual friendship/flirtationship with, but I can't imagine it going any further. Since talking to her, I've been on a lot of dates, but it's getting difficult to find any time for myself that isn't being taken up by women trying to date. I'm just trying to keep things casual until I find someone that I'm 100% into. I've had a few women that have rejected me, but that's really all a part of dating. Of course some of those people are ones that I wish I could've continued with, but honestly, this just gives me more time to work on myself until I find someone I can't live without. BTW, currently in Honduras to see family and there has been interest here and I've gone on a quick casual date here as well. It went well I should be seeing her again tomorrow during the small gathering (today since its 4 AM). Let's see how it goes.

I already have, for several years now I've been saying that Bruce Wayne is neurodivergent and most likely autistic, but I don't think I've made a very detailed post specifically here on Tumblr so... Might as well?

With the arrival of "The Batman" and Pattison giving us a Bruce Wayne portrayal that most definitely reflects a neurodivergent Batman the way he should be, more and more people are starting to adhere to the autistic!Bruce headcanon and I'm all for it but many still argue that it's not canon to the comics, I beg to differ (and I'm hyper focused right now) so let's make a post about it, shall we?

Proof that canon Bruce is very likely in the autistic spectrum

For starters, Bruce canonically has PTSD (and anger issues that come with it) and OCD. He also suffers from acute anxiety and depression but none of this takes away from the fact that he's been autistic-coded for decades and not just in the comics, in fact, I'm going to be talking about the character across several types of media.

Also, remember that autism is a spectrum and every person is different.

Let's start with this actual panel from "Batman: The Imposter", it's a recent (2021-2022) black label comic but it's relevant since it features the point of view of a therapist/psychiatrist on young Bruce.

But now, let's get to the rest.

Brucie is excellent at mirroring, masking and generally BS-ing people!

As an adult he uses scripting a lot and his detective skills to pick up cues from people and act as they expect of him. Very good at playing pretend, not so good at real relationships. He reads people through factual data, analyzing micro-expressions, posture and words like a puzzle rather than naturally understanding social cues. (Additionally, he actually has fun playing different characters like Brucie or Matches.)

He's extremely empathetic (my god, so much hyper empathy) but also struggles with alexithymia.

He feels so much empathy that he literally cannot stop caring, he cares so much that he tries to protect the city with his bare hands, throws money at a million causes and will always go the extra mile for people (such as, for example, offering a Wayne Ent. job to an underage prostitute to get her off the streets).

He feels all this compassion but can't quite express it, he has a lot of trouble being emotionally demonstrative and picking up the right social cues, vulnerability does not come easy to him and neither does abstract expression.

He uses a flat tone, he's monotone and generally expressionless when he's not trying to fake a reaction or emotion, so he comes off as disconnected and disinterested and that causes friction with people like Dick and Clark.

He tends to express himself more in actions than words precisely because verbal expression is hard for him (unless he has time to plan out his speeches or is being very blunt).

Examples:

When Dick tells Bruce he's dating Babs and Bruce just grunts and shows no reaction, Dick misinterprets as lack of interest but Bruce actually just has no idea what reaction is expected of him.

He's incredibly blunt and to the point, he says exactly what he means and sometimes comes off as very confrontational, he doesn't go through the trouble of lying to make people feel better (I don't want to think about the Ric arc but... the Ric arc). If he has to lie to play a part or mask, he will often resort to sarcasm.

When he wanted to adopt Tim he was so bad at putting his intentions in words that Tim couldn't understand him and Bruce had to ask Alfred to explain/show him.

He hates small talk with a passion and goes out of his way to avoid it, he says what he has to say and leaves, if he wants to know how someone is doing he will go check/spy on them rather than simply ask (literally does this with the whole family). This also extends to Batman's habit of just disappearing mid-conversation once he feels he has as much info as he needs.

When Bruce gets engaged (and I'm referring to the almost-wedding with Selina in this case) he has trouble telling his kids and best friends about it because he doesn't understand why it would be important to them and doesn't know how to say it.

When Bruce is proud with Damian's efforts reigning in his violent tendencies early in their Batman and Robin partnership he had this interaction with Alfred- A: "Did you tell Damian you are proud of him?", B: "Of course.", A: "What exactly did you say?", B: "I said I found his efforts commendable.", A: *sigh* "Couldn't you just say you are proud of him?", B: *visibly confused* "Isn't that exactly what I did?"

When he and Dick have that rough patch where Dick leaves and stops being Robin (right before he becomes Nightwing), a lot of that bs is because Bruce can't properly express himself and pushes Dick away instead telling him that he's letting him go for his own good.

When Jason comes back as Red Hood and is so pissed at Bruce for not killing Joker to avenge him and for replacing him with Tim? Bruce could have told Jason that he did in fact try to kill Joker to avenge him but was stopped by Superman (and a whole lot of other bs) and he didn't replace him with Tim, he rejected Tim and Tim stalked him and made himself Robin against Bruce's wishes. Would this explanation had helped with Jason's anger? Probably not but Bruce didn't even think to try because he didn't know how to express himself and that bullshit spiraled out of control.

Clark: "I know you didn't bring me back because you like me." B: "I don't...not like you."

Another canon interaction- B: "Family is...good." Jason: "What are you trying to tell me?" B: "I just told you." Dick: "He's telling you he loves you." B: "Isn't that what I just said?"

Hyper empathy- he pays for the Graysons' funeral and takes Dick in literally out of empathy, he sees himself in this boy and he thinks the most rational reaction to this is to adopt the kid, and he does it again with Jason.

SO. MANY. ENGAGEMENTS. He's so bad at expressing or even understanding emotion that when he falls in love he does it HARD and is really bad at expressing it so he just jumps right to the ring. Granted, this is a product of writers re-hashing the same classic climax and drama tropes with love interests over 80 years of history but I went through the comics and counted, Bruce was engaged at least 9 times (11 if we don't nitpick too much).

(I have a hundred more examples but this is getting long as it is.)

Real emotional expressions are rare and that makes them stand out, they can also be extreme and/or inappropriate.

Some examples of his extreme emotion reactions could be adopting the kids so easily, or punching people as a first instinct when he gets mad or overwhelmed, even when it's unnecessary (I could give a dozen examples of this one but my favorite is during the Court of Owls nonsense when he discovers the Owls put an electrum implant in Dick's tooth and rather than explain this to Dick while they are having a calm conversation about the CoO, he just pauses to punch Dick in the middle of the conversation in order to knock the fake tooth out, talk about a drama king).

Lack of social skills.

He doesn't even try to be social as Batman (and we've established that Brucie is a mask), and often misses certain jokes or sarcasm and has a very skewed sense of humor (often finding things funny that others don't or saying amusing things totally unintentionally).

His grunts or just outright refusal to answer certain things. Vocal stims. He seems to actually go non-verbal from time to time.

He has a lot of complex feelings but often doesn't understand them or know how to show them. Canon Dick, Clark and Jason don't often 'get' Bruce and become very frustrated by his lack of communication and his avoidance of emotional topics.

One of the reasons he connected so well with Cassandra Cain before Rebirth is because he doesn't have to talk to her, she can understand his feelings purely through his body language and that is clearly a massive relief for him.

When he's alone with Selina he shows a very soft romantic side but even there he has trouble knowing the right thing say or what is expected.

As an example, the proposal comes to mind- B: "marry me." S:"no" [some time later] S:"ask me again, but this time ASK, don't say it at me." B:"will you marry me?" S:"yes".

(Also, literally all his repressed reactions to the break up after she left him at the altar.)

He has canonically had meltdowns as a child in the comics (and shutdows in the "Gotham" show). It can be argued that some of his extreme (often violent) reactions to certain things as an adult could also be called meltdowns.

Rejection sensitive dysphoria. I think this one is really obvious, the man would rather block out anything emotion-related than face rejection, it's often a big trigger for his depressive tendencies.

He has "special interests".

Batman started as a symbol (let's not forget he has a bat phobia) but he became obsessed with all things bat-related, obviously. But he also has more specific and personal interests- detective work (he will make up puzzles if there's nothing to solve or he will actively look for trouble if everything else has been handled), making gadgets, dinosaurs, Grey Ghost, Zorro comics, classic lit, etc.

He hyperfixates on his interests and hyperfocuses on specific tasks A LOT to the point of injury and forgoing basic needs. A good example of his hyperfocus is how he handles specific Batman cases.

He info dumps! Enough said.

He has told Gordon that he "doesn't change his routine" and there was a whole panel about the importance of routine for him, including doing the same rituals every night. When he has to take a break from patrolling due to injuries, more than once it's been shown how it's almost physically uncomfortable for him to have that routine interrupted even when there's no specific case to follow up on.

Sensory issues!!!

Bruce has shown to like quiet and darkness, he's shown in some forms of media to be sensitive to bright light, he prefers to avoid crowds when he can, he has a massively high pain tolerance, he has a specific type of clothes he feels comfortable in and doesn't deviate from them (not the bat-suit but rather his damn turtlenecks).

He is a picky eater and likes very spicy food and sweets (autistic people either prefer bland foods and certain textures to avoid overstimulation or they go for very strong intense flavors precisely because they need the stimulation, Bruce is the latter, Alfred often sways him with sweets and it's official that his favorite food is spicy mulligatawny soup). In fact, he's such a picky eater that he has stubborn eating habits (like forgetting to eat entirely) and doesn't see anything wrong with feeding young Dick nothing but chips because it's "what Dick likes".

The entire design of the bat-suit could be connected to sensory things: his cape is very heavy, which could be connected to pressure stimming (it's so heavy that when Dick becomes Batman he complained and had to have a lighter cape made), if you really think about it his cowl is designed in a way that can filter out excessive stimuli (lights and sounds) and help him focus on specific things, etc, etc.

As a kid he connects better with adults because of his intellectual level, but as an adult he connects a lot more easily with children and teens.

This is shown both with people he rescues and with the people around him, there's a reason he connects and works so well with the young Robins but starts having communication issues with them when they grow up. (It's not mentioned often but a typical trait of people in the spectrum is that they tend to have problems connecting with people in their own age group).

Outside of life-or-death situations he often avoids physical contact as much as possible, even with people he cares about, and sometimes even when he's clearly touch-starved he doesn't usually initiate contact.

It seems to depend a lot on the level of trust he has for people. If a person he trusts initiates it he gets awkward but enjoys it, Dick is a good example; if a person he's not close to initiates contact he often shows annoyance or discomfort. It requires a high level of intimacy for him to initiate contact but when he does he's extremely affectionate (scenes with Selina or any of the his kids come to mind).

He likes making lists, files and hoarding information.

There's a scene where someone apologizes because the info they gave wasn't helpful at all and Bruce's reply was "I know more than I did 10 minutes ago. I like information." He also keeps very extensive (and often invasive) files about people he knows and has his famous contingency plans for every superhero he knows.

He's very methodical and organized about these things (like his case files and reports) but...

...he's a naturally messy person as seen by the state the manor and cave fall into when Alfred is not around and has difficulty taking care of himself, not because he's some sort spoiled rich man-child but because he underestimates his own needs and limits. EDIT: this is executive dysfunction. Both Battison and comic Bruce seem to need prompting for basic things like taking a shower or cleaning up after themselves as they seem to forget their own needs.

When he's not masking, he has a very atypical body language, such as his skulking and looming, avoiding eye contact, his evasiveness, the way he can stay inhumanly still for long periods of time if he needs to but is also extremely impatient and often doesn't stay still (I remember a panel where the cave computer takes 8 seconds to process some data and Bruce still complains it's too slow and needs and update, much to Clark's confusion).

I have more but this list is so long already and I'm tired.

I also had some comic panels but I don't have the patience to find them and pick out them out (tumblr has a 10 picture per post limit anyway). Might edit this later if I find any. If anyone knows the different sources, comic issues or has the different panels and gifs, feel free to add them.

SMALL EDIT: Martian Manhunter also claimed that being in Bruce's mind is very unpleasant. This could easily be because of the amount of trauma or intrusive thoughts from OCD but it's also very possible he was talking about experiencing the world and likely sensory overload from Bruce's perspective.

I wanted to talk about my darling, if that's alright. I can never get enough of talking about him. I'm actually autistic/adhd and he's been my biggest special interest since we've been dating. My friends and family have all gotten annoyed with the fact he's all I talk about.

He's asleep next to me as I type this. I love hearing him breathing, I always check up on him too. He just moved in less than a week ago. I'm so happy, I'm filled with joy. I feel like my friends and family all judge me for how soon it is. I just got divorced (married wayyy too young) the beginning of October last year, and started dating him the end of October. We've been dating a little less than four months now.

But see: he's a yandere too. He's already planning his proposal to me. And he created a tumblr just to follow my blogs and reblog yanderecore posts he tags me in. He has notifications on and stalks my blogs, and goes through and likes every post I make ♥️ He always tells me that he doesn't need anyone else because I'm all that matters, that he'd do anything for me, and that I give his life meaning and purpose. He's said that I'm his first love and if I ever leave him he'd never move on because he knows for a fact that he'd never love anyone like he does me so what's the point of trying. I have to always stop him from spending all of his paycheck on buying me gifts if I accidentally say I want something where he can overhear me. He will also pick up my jackets in front of me and start smelling them and carrying them around to hug. If we go out in public he always has to be holding my hand. And: he always prefers to leave at least one hickey on me, preferably as visible as possible, so everyone knows I'm taken.

I love all of it. I love that he does that, I love how jealous and possessive he is, I love that when I reblog yanderecore posts for him he kisses me and tells me that he loves it. He loves that I'm also obsessed with him. I told him that since I need to travel for a week coming up I'd bring some of his shirts he's worn and use them like a pillowcase and he blushed. I told him that I'd die without him, I'd just wither away, my purpose is to be his and to be his housewife and dote on him. He loves all of it. Except he refuses to let me take on more than 50% of the housework no matter how much I whine and insist. He also bought me a journal for Christmas with my name and birth flower engraved on it, and I've been using it to practice writing pages of my first name and his last name for when we get married. He finds it so cute and said I should start using it as my signature since technically they won't check if my last name matches on most documents ♥️

We just bought a bunch of prints of photos of us together and kissing and have already hung some of them up. I also got him a picture of me for his wallet he immediately cut it out and stuck in his wallet for when he has to be at work and misses me. We've also discussed what our wedding will be like, we're saving to buy a house together in the future, what we'll name our kids, and what our future matching tattoo will look like ♥️

I've always been kind of an obsessive lover but never like this. And never this reciprocated. I'm over the moon. We're completely soulmates. He's already met my family and they think he's great, he's so kind to everyone and always fussing over me. And I'm the only person he's ever dated to meet his family. They also like me, and appreciate how much I've fixed his depression. According to them before we met he was constantly depressed and grumpy and antisocial. And now he's bubbly and never stops talking about me.

My darling means the entire world to me ♥️ He's snoring so sweetly right now. He keeps putting his arm or leg over mine in his sleep too. I'm madly MADLY in love with him. I need to get up to finish some chores while he rests but it's so hard to rip myself away from his side. He's going to buy my engagement ring soon, and I've been telling him since the end of December that whenever he asks I'll say yes. When we go our I always rub my ring finger and feel like something is missing, like I left something at home. Even though in my past relationship it was terrible and I purposely never wore my wedding ring.

Anyways: thanks for listening. I need to try and pry myself away to feed our furbabies and come back to bed asap. Mutual yandere love is the best thing I've ever experienced and my darling is the best thing that could have possibly happened to me

Part of the vibe of Jun-ho I love so much is that not only does he get really offended and protective whenever someone talks shit about Young-woo or the idea of them dating, he also is like ???? I'm confused why wouldn’t I date her??? She's amazing??? He legit thinks she's just the coolest cutest best person and he enjoys her existence so much like a cat that's obsessed with watching a fish tank. So like everyone has been everywhere already about how amazing Porsche is as a bisexual character who is manly and masculine and a very tall fit dude and yet he's allowed to be emotional and vulnerable and cute and flamboyant and sweet and in general kinnporsche never treated him like he needed to be one way or another to fit a certain mold as a man (or a man in a gay relationship that is the bottom which is also a whole can of worms)

But can I just say specifically how much I love that they made it really clear that when they have sex Porsche likes being picked up. He likes being picked up and held, he likes being in Kinn's lap, he likes Kinn actually physically lifting him up, they show this multiple times, and I don't think I've ever seen it shown you don't have to be a physically small man to enjoy having your partner do things like that. Just... god I love Porsche.
