Lies and Butterflies
Joshua Hong x Fem!Reader
Genre:Â fake dating au; mostly fluff.
Word Count:Â 19.2k
Warnings:Â injuries & blood (injury is not explicitly described). joking death threats made between friends. mentions of drinking and alcoholic beverages. lying to parental figures. reader is written as single and desperate and moderately unwise (sheâs actually me).
[Series: Serenity Street 17]Â Your roommate begged you to pretend to date him while his mom is in town for the month. The little crush youâve had on him will either become your best friend or worst obstacle on this quest.
note: the fact that this fic came out as longer than my master's degree thesis will never not amaze me.
Your friends thought you were a naive fool for moving into Serenity Street 17, apartment 3A. Not because the neighbourhood or building was bad (if anything, they often commented about how cosy it was), but because you signed the rental agreement knowing full well youâd be sharing an apartment with a man you didnât know.Â
In your defence, youâd been hesitant to do so. However, after several reassuring comments from the building manager about how your roommate would be a perfectly sweet young gentleman (but mostly the influence of the looming end of your old rental agreement with a remaining budget from hell), you had done the insane thing and signed the agreement.
Fortunately, Joshua Hong, your new roommate, seemed like a true angel at first sight â both visually and metaphorically. Upon your arrival, heâd spent the entire weekend helping you move the heavy boxes and unbox everything (all the while you were trying your hardest to not feel weak at the sight of his gorgeous face and straining biceps). He assured you repeatedly that heâd do the dishes and cook for himself. He sent you off to work every morning with a sweet smile, a wave and a thermos full of hot coffee to start your day.Â
Youâd quickly learn why the neighbourhood aunties called him âSerenity Streetâs gentlemanâ. And at first you thought he truly deserved the title.
That is until you had lived with him for a month and realised he was the dictionary definition of unpredictable. Sure, he wasnât completely insane and most of the time he was truly the perfect roommate (as well as eye candy), but the moments when he did unleash his inner demons? Even now, many months later, you were still trying to decide if that side of him amused or scared you.
It was to the point where you and Chan, your neighbour from across the hall, had started keeping a shared list of Joshuaâs wildest moments (a tradition which several of your other friends in the building soon joined).Â
For one, there was the time when he decided to perform EXOâs âLove Shotâ with a truly unhinged choreography at the buildingâs monthly drunk karaoke night. The kicker? He didnât start drinking until after the cover (probably to bury the shame he felt).Â
Or the time when he mistakenly watered a fake plant for weeks and then, upon realising his mistake, proceeded to gaslight himself and everyone you knew that it had at one point been a real plant and someone must have snuck into the apartment to replace it with an identical fake one (you didnât have the heart to tell him that he was fooling no one (but Minghao had been more than happy to share the news with him for you )).
There was also, of course, the time when he had a life-sized cardboard cut-out of himself made to decorate the living room and you couldnât have reminded him enough of how terrifying of a sight it had been at 4 am on your way to the bathroom. To his credit, he moved the cut-out behind Jeonghanâs apartment door a week later to terrify him instead. Jeonghan has since sworn heâd get back at your roommate for it one day (and you dearly hoped he would).
Needless to say, your roommate had you living on the edge of your seat at all times. So it didnât surprise you much when he knocked on your bedroom door at 11 pm before walking in and throwing himself head-first onto your bed.
Used to his shenanigans but well-aware of his need for attention, you just sighed and lowered the book you had spent all day looking forward to. âWhatâs up?â
His response was unintelligible, muffled against the sage green sheets.Â
You waited a moment for him to lift his head. Nothing happened. For a moment you wondered if heâd fallen asleep. So you nudged him with your foot. âShua?â
With a groan, he leaned upwards, resting on his elbows as he stared ahead and told you, âDo you think Iâm too single?â
Amused and confused by the question, you blinked rapidly. âIs that even a thing? I think all single people are equally single, no?â
âI havenât dated anyone in five years,â he told you.
âAnd?â
âI havenât gone on a date in three.â
âSo?â
âMy mom thinks thatâs too long.â
You took mild offence to that as you had been left out on the dry shores of Singleness for well over a decade â if your three-day middle-school playground marriage even counted towards this statistic, that is. If Joshua had been single for too long by his momâs standards, then you surely must have seemed like a completely hopeless case.Â
You shook the thought off and tried to seem like a supportive friend (even though your mind and soul were already lost in faraway lands, riding horses with dreamy fictional men that oddly looked like Joshua). âWhy does that matter?â
âBecause,â he started as if you should know this already, âshe wants me to go on a blind date with her friendâs daughter. She wants to discuss it tomorrow over lunch.â
Was it too soon to tell him you sometimes daydreamed of your mom appearing at the door with a handsome young man and demanding you to go on a date with him? Maybe. Was that too desperate? Probably.
âYouâre an adult man, Shua,â you told him with a scoff. âJust say no.â
âI canât say that to my mom!â
âWhy not? Because sheâd be disappointed and sad?â you guessed, eyeing him with annoyance.Â
He widened his eyes and all you saw in his brown irises was pure terror mixed with just a hint of frustration. âSheâd lecture me!â
âOh no,â you didnât even try to feign any kind of an emotion before lifting your book back to your eye level, eager to get back to your reading where men didnât trouble you with their mommy issues. âYour momâs nice. Youâll live.â
âYou could try to be more empathetic, you know,â he remarked before resting his cheek on the mattress and sighing. âWhat are you reading anyway? Another one of your historical romances?â
âAnd what if it is?â you asked.
âMy mom would tell you to get off your ass and get an actual boyfriend.â
âGood thing sheâs not my mom then. Men are disappointing and I only like the ones written by women.â
Joshuaâs eyes narrowed. âAre you calling me a disappointment right now?â
There were many words you could use to describe Joshua, but a disappointment? â not one of them. Really, the only disappointing thing about the man in front of you was that he thought your valiant flirting attempts over the past six months had been a funny joke. Even if you thought he could be incredibly frustrating, you were not immune to his charms, and everyone but him seemed to know.
Still, if there was anything you liked more than being the sole object of Joshuaâs attention, it was getting on his nerves as much as he did yours.
âAbsolutely,â you told him with a straight face but your facade fell fast at his offended grimace. You couldnât help but laugh. âOf course youâre not a disappointment. I actually like you.â
Would he pick up the hint (and was it even a hint if you were practically confessing your feelings?) ⌠?
âI hate you,â he mumbled and buried his face back in the sheets.
⌠No. The answer was no.
Aside from his wild shenanigans, another thing that frustrated you about your roommate to no end was the fact that he. never. read. his. messages. And yet, when he messaged you, he expected an answer ASAP.Â
And if you didnât reply within 2 minutes ⌠?
Your phone vibrated and rang, his contact photo bright and colourful on your phone screen. You could barely keep back from cursing under your breath before offering your co-workers an apologetic smile and rushing out to the breakroom to answer the call.Â
You took a deep calming breath before putting on your best customer service-able smile and speaking into the microphone, âWhatâs up?â
âWhere are you?â came the short reply. Was it just you or did he sound winded?Â
As if he could see you through the radio waves, you theatrically glanced around the building before deadpanning, âAt work. Like every Tuesday at 1 pm.â
âRight,â he breathed out after a pause and suddenly you were worried.Â
The Joshua you knew never hesitated to match your sarcastic remarks with ones of his own. There was rarely any bite to his words but you appreciated that he at least tried to match your energy (or maybe you had unknowingly matched his and you were fated to meet). But this? This hadnât been a sarcastic remark.
âAre you okay?â you spoke, tone softening. âDid something happen?â
âYou know how I had that lunch thing with mom today?â he asked after a sigh.Â
You nodded before realising he couldnât actually see you. âYeah?â
âShe brought up her friendâs daughter again and I panicked andââ He cut himself off with a laugh but it sounded anything but joyful. No, it sounded frustrated and disbelieving and like he was about five seconds from a mental breakdown. You found yourself holding your breath as you waited for his laughter to stop. When it did, he sighed again. âCan you come home early?â
The answer was obviously no. You couldnât just leave your job to cater to your roommate's frenzies. You had made it a point to never ask for any unnecessary time off at all, eager to prove yourself at the office. You had only worked here for five months. Besides, you had goals and a dream andâ
âPlease?â he added. He sounded so soft, so fragile, so worried.
You squeezed your eyes shut and lied to yourself that your boss wouldnât hate you if you just told him you had a horrible, perhaps borderline ER-worthy migraine and needed to go home ASAP. Or was that too risky? Would he ask for a doctorâs note? Whatâs the other option?
âIf my boss emails you and asks if our apartment was flooded today, you tell him yes and that you almost drowned,â you finally told him, unable to believe you were about to blatantly lie to your boss, before swiping across your screen to end the call.Â
âYouâre home,â he breathed out when you stepped through the door half an hour later.Â
You found him sitting on the living room sofa. He was still wearing his best white shirt and if it werenât for the mess of hair on his head, he wouldâve looked like he had just gotten ready to go out.
You shrugged off your jacket. âI would really like an explanation.â
âYeah,â he sighed and rubbed his face. âWhere do I start? Um⌠Well, my momâs coming to stay with us for a month.â
Your jaw dropped. âA month?! Why? Did something happen to her house?â
âNo,â he seemed almost pained to tell you so. With a gentle grip on your hand, he led you to sit next to him on the sofa. âYou know how she was trying to set me up with her friendâs daughter?â
You nodded, raising a brow. âWhat about it? Was it, like, an ex or something?â
âWell, no, but,â he took a deep breath and turned to stare at the wall, eyes wide as if he was expecting something to crash as he spoke, âI might have panicked and said something bad.â
âSuch as?â you urged, leaning closer.
Getting red in the face, he really looked like the words he needed had wedged themselves in his throat and were rebelling, refusing to come out. He opened and closed his mouth, trying to make even a single sound, but you still heard nothing.Â
Your patience was running thinner by the second. âJoshua, I lied to my boss because of you. Spit it out or, I swear to god, I will make that lie a reality and drown you in the bathtub.â
The threat seemed to motivate him plenty. He let out a soft whine before blurting, âI told her I canât go on a date with Mary because weâre dating.â
This man never failed to surprise, scare and worry you. And this time you were scared for the both of you. âYou told her what?! We?! As in you and me?!â
âIâm sorry,â he immediately dropped to his knees in front of you, looking up at you with desperate and terrified sparkling doe eyes. âI wasnât thinking! I didnât want to make her feel bad and I panicked and I lied and I swear Iâll make it up to you! Whatever you want! Anything. I am so, so sorry.â
You didnât even have the words to say. Frozen in your seat, you stared at him, trying your hardest to get your brain to reset so you could discover you simply had fallen asleep at your desk and this was all a dream. Was it a dream or was it a nightmare? Youâd decide later.
When you hadnât responded for nearly a minute, Joshua gently nudged your hand. âHey, are you okay? Iâm sorry, okay?â
But when you still remained silent without even as much as moving your eyes, he quickly added, âIâll just fess up, yeah? Iâll tell her I panicked and lied and Iâll go on that date. Just please donât be mad at me, okay?â
You held your hand up to stop him. âItâs fine. I just⌠I need a moment.â
âYeahâŚâ He breathed in relief before nodding and agreeing, âYeah. Anything you want. IâllâŚI canâŚÂ Do you want water? Tea? I could make cocoa.â
âJust waterâs fine,â you told him almost robotically as you stared into space, rubbing your temples as if that would somehow make it easier to process the absolutely bizarre situation you had found yourself in because, no, unfortunately (or fortunately?) this was not a dream. This was your reality.
As he scurried over to the kitchen, you tried to wrap your mind around ⌠well, everything.Â
It felt like a cruel joke. All these months of pining after your handsome roommate, making him heart-shaped toast and pancakes, fixing his shirt collar as he prepared to leave for work, practically flat-out confessing to him â and here he was, practically throwing himself at you.Â
But none of it was real. He wasnât actually into you. It was just a panicked reaction. Heâd just thought of the first age-appropriate woman that came to his mind â it was only you because you were roommates and spent so much time together. There were no feelings involved on his end.Â
But on yours? You willed your heart to stop fluttering and pounding and threatening to beat out of your chest at the mere idea of dating Joshua Hong.Â
âHere,â he spoke softly as he placed a cold glass of water into your hand and took his seat next to you. He watched for a while as you took a miniscule sip and continued staring into nothingness, lost in your thoughts. He hesitated to speak. âI really am sorry. I just wasnât thinking straight. I was scared andââ
âI seemed like a safer option than Mary?â you finished for him, giving him a knowing look. âCâmon, is she really that bad?â
No, youâre just that much better is what you wished heâd say. Then youâd have at least something to hold onto.
Joshua offered a half-hearted smile. âMom said Mary is really into haunted buildings and ghost hunting, soâŚâ
Did that make you much better than her? Very debatable. But you were willing to take just about anything reminiscent of a win.
âSounds dreadful,â you replied, matching his smile. âSo what happens now?â
âWell,â he seemed hesitant all over again, as if no progress had been made at all. He quickly forced himself out of that headspace and met your eyes, âI could call my mom and tell her I liedâŚâ
You sensed an âorâ. Raising an eyebrow, you silently asked him to finish the thought.
He took a stuttering breath before grimacing. âOr we go on with the lie and pretend to date for a while.â
Option B is what your heart shouted. Please pick option B, even if itâs all a lie.
âA while beingâŚ?â you forced yourself to nitpick instead of immediately jumping into his arms and agreeing.Â
He kissed his teeth. âA month-ish.â
âA month?!â
âMom didnât fully, entirely, really believe me,â Joshua supplied with an apologetic look, âso I bluffed a little and she said sheâd come stay with us for a while to see it for herself and⌠I sort of agreed to let her stay a month.â
A month of (fake) dating Joshua Hong, your hot roommate, the very subject of your daydreams? You werenât sure whether you wanted to scream in joy or cry in despair.
âOkay,â you breathed out and gulped. âWe canâ We can do a month⌠right?â
âRight.â He didnât seem any more sure of than you.
âHow long âtil she comes here?â
âTwo days.â
âYouâve got to be kidding me.â
[DAY 1, FRIDAY]
Having read and watched a fair share of romantic comedies, you were adamant that there was no need for a âfake dating contractâ. You and Joshua were roommates and good friends; surely just a verbal agreement of boundaries would suffice. Youâd just tell him your boundaries and heâd tell you yours.Â
In an ideal world, that is.
But in the real world, there was a knock on the door before you could even begin to whisper about the idea of boundaries.
While sharing a startled look with you, Joshua crept towards the door and peeked through peephole.Â
âItâs her,â he breathed out and offered you one last grimace before opening the door. His voice went from tormented to overjoyed so fast you felt it give you a whiplash, âMom! Hi! Let me help with your suitcase.â
Showtime (except this was not a theatre, and you didnât have even the semblance of a script to play out, and you sucked at improv). Putting on your best smile, you stood up just as they entered the living room.Â
âThere she is!â his mother called out and rushed over to give you a warm hug. âLook at you! As good-looking as always!â
Your cheeks felt a little warm at that. âYou look great too!â
âOh, I know,â she joked and gave your shoulder a friendly pat. Then her friendly expression morphed into something more sinister. âSo, dating, huh?â
If your cheeks had felt warm before, they were positively burning now. You tried to find your voice again, even offered a look to Joshua who could only respond with an equally nervous wide-eyed look. Finally, you cleared your throat and answered, âYeah. Weâre still kind of getting used to it ourselves.â
âI always knew you two would end up together,â she gushed, smiling ear to ear and winking at you between sentences. âTook you a while though. I was already starting to worry about my Joshua.â
âYeah,â you heard him mumble, âme too.â
âWill you join us for dinner?â you asked her, trying to steer the topic away from the inevitable chit-chat about your almost-non-existent relationship.
She hummed in thought â a habit Joshua must have picked up from her, you realised â and nodded as she looked around the living room. âOf course. Let me just get settled in and put on more comfortable clothes. Where can I unpack?â
Your âboyfriend and you shared a wide-eyed look. This is why you never did improv!Â
âYou can have my room,â Joshua finally spoke all the while still having that very same panicked expression. âIâll get it set up real quick.â
His mother paused, confused (and was that a glint of suspicion in her eyes?). âYou donât sleep together?â
You couldâve fried an egg on your cheeks with how hot they felt. âOh, weââ
âLike she said,â Joshua interrupted, forcing a smile that almost looked convincing, âweâre still kind of settling into this whole relationship thing. Weâre taking it slow.â
âIâm glad to give you a push in the right direction,â she told him with a chuckle. âYou canât leave someone like (Y/n) just waiting. Sheâll get bored of you, and then what?â
He laughed shortly. âYeah, I guess youâre right.â
âLike always.â
He nodded before tugging on the crook of your elbow to drag you with him. âSweetie, why donât you come help me set up momâs room?â
You thanked the heavens he had enough mental capacity to not leave you alone with his mom. âOf course!â
âHelp yourself to anything you want in the kitchen, yeah?â Joshua told his mom as he reached to pick up her suitcase with his free hand, his left one still holding onto you like you were his lifeline. âCoffee, tea, a snack â anything.â
She replied with a smile and continued her (no doubt thorough) tour of your apartment.Â
Once you were in his room, he closed the door so that it was just a bit ajar as to not seem suspicious and turned to you with a look of terror. His whispers were so loud and harsh that you wondered if there was any point in pretending otherwise as he asked, âWhat do we do?â
âWe clean your room and make your mom feel at home,â you suggested, not entirely sure what he was getting at.
Joshua gave you a look that said he was holding back the urge to call you dumb. âI meant us. Sheâs taking my bed. Where will I sleep? I canât sleep on the sofa â sheâll figure out weâre lying.â
Oh. Yeah, that was an unwelcome problem. Mostly because the only viable solution you could think of involved Joshua sleeping in your room and you not getting any sleep because heâd be so close to you. What if you fell asleep and talked in your sleep, confessing your everlasting love? Worse!: what if you had a dirty dream about him â one involving his gorgeous biceps and soft lips andâ dear god, youâd never be able to look him in the eyes again. Hell, you probably wouldnât be able to be in the same room as him.Â
Joshua stared at you in silence, expecting a solution. Before you could offer one though, he shut it down with a âIâm not sneaking out to sleep on Chanâs pull-out couch either.â
Damn it.Â
âThen thereâs only one solution,â you whispered back, unable to believe your own words. âWeâll have to share my room.â
âThereâs no room for another mattress there.â
Itâs not like either of you even knew where to find a spare mattress. But you didnât tell him that. And the look in his eyes said you didnât have to because he knew it just the same and that left only one solution.
âWe can share my bed, but if you touch my teddy bear, Iâll make sure you go missing under mysterious circumstances,â you told him and left the room to get some clean sheets for the bed (and calm your heart).
The rest of a day went by in a daze of terrible half-believable lies that just kept elaborating at their own accord because of course she couldnât be satisfied with just a simple answer. No, she had to ask questions to clarify, as if she was a detective trying to figure out a suspectâs background.
And so you bluffed and lied and shared panicked looks with Joshua. Your collaborations added up to a decent backstory â at least thatâs what you thought because at least your lies were not completely out of the realm of reality.
Who confessed first? You both did, in a moment of drunken chaos at Seungcheolâs housewarming party (you failed to mention there was no alcohol provided at said party).Â
Where was your first date? A picnic at the park not too far from your home just a few short months ago (and she didnât need to know it was an outing with all of your neighbours â something not Joshua but Jihoon had organised to help the people in the building become closer).
What was your first kiss like? You had kissed him under the streetlights when he walked you home from work because youâd be damned if you let a man make the first move (in Joshuaâs opinion, this was the most obvious lie of all but he chose not to argue because the other option was to look his mother in the eyes and tell her heâd made the first move to kiss somebody on the mouth).
The little lies added up and by the end of the day, you werenât entirely sure where one started or another ended. Hell, you were pretty certain you wouldnât remember most of them the next day.Â
But that wasnât the hard part â not the real hard part anyway. No, the real problem was the evernearing night. Between the improv performance of your life and the general feeling of butterflies, you hadnât had any time to come to terms with the fact that youâd have to share a bed with your handsome, hot, absolutely amazing roommate under the guise of being his girlfriend.
And now the reality was looming.
His mother was the first to head to bed, leaving you and Joshua to stare at each other in a relieved silence across the dining table as she went about her bedtime routine. Neither you or Joshua dared to move to head to sleep next. Neither of you wanted to make the first move.Â
Sensing you were faced with a similar dilemma, he finally suggested, âWe could watch a movie.â
âWeâll have to go to bed eventually,â you told him with a sigh. âWe canât spend the whole night watching TV.â
His silence told you he thought otherwise.Â
And you were in no mood to make the first move or argue about pillow barriers and teddy bears. So, begrudgingly, you dragged yourself over to the sofa and turned on the TV.Â
He joined you soon after, two cans of soda in hand. He handed one â already opened â to you as you flipped through the movie selection.
âYou know, sugar really isnât good for you before bed,â you remarked offhandedly. âMakes it hard to fall asleep.â
He just scoffed and opened his can with a pop and a fizzle. âGood thing weâre watching a movie and not sleeping then.â
âRom-com or action?â
âAction,â he answered a little too fast before sipping his drink as if to distract himself.Â
âWe could watch Transformers,â you half-joked. âItâs got a good runtime.â
âMight as well,â he sighed and made himself comfortable as you clicked on the title.Â
As you pulled a cushion into your lap for optimal comfort, Joshua remained sitting far from you. It was funny, really â it seemed that he was sitting further from you as your âboyfriendâ than he ever had as just your roommate.Â
You wanted to blame the movie for how silent the living room had become. Only Optimus Primeâs voice sounded in the apartment, and even that was quiet to not disturb your guestâs sleep. But the reality was that something had shifted between you. You were officially stuck in an arrangement that both benefited and ruined you, and the reality was sinking in fast.
Now there was no chance to take back the lies and the faking. The only option was to keep going and keep up with your elaborate plan to trick the sweetest woman you knew, all because your roommate didnât want to date some girl called Mary and you had agreed to be his cover because you were infatuated with him.Â
How does one process this situation? Where do you go from here? Can you do this for a month without thinking too hard about it? And what happens when the month is up?
âHey,â Joshuaâs soft voice startled you from your tortured thoughts. You turned to find him watching you with a somewhat wistful smile. âYou did great today, you know?â
âWhatever do you mean?â You chuckled but it sounded pained even to your own ears. âI was just being a good girlfriend.â
He snorted a laugh. âYou can stop acting. Iâm pretty sure sheâs asleep by now. Itâs okay. â
âHow do you know if sheâs asleep?â you whispered, eyeing his â no, her â bedroom door. âWould suck to get caught lying on the very first night.â
Joshuaâs smile looked a little more real now, almost reaching his eyes as he still watched you like you were a beloved family puppy who had learnt a new trick. âShe snores pretty loud.â
Tense in your seat, still eyeing the door, you listened and waited. Before long, you discovered he was right. There it was, a soft snore accompanying Bumblebeeâs action scene. Closing your eyes, you breathed out in relief and relaxed into the plush fabric of the sofa.Â
âDo you think she bought it?â you wondered.
âIf she didnât, weâll just have to work harder tomorrow,â he replied before reaching over to brush your hair off your face.Â
You willed the butterflies to just go to sleep already and let you be. They remained relentless and you could only pray Joshua wouldnât notice how flustered his touch made you feel.
âWe just have to do this for another 29 days,â you said to distract yourself. âItâll be fine.â
Did he have to keep stroking your cheek so gently? How much hair did you even have stuck on your face? Maybe you were hallucinating and he wasnât touching you at all â that seemed almost plausible.Â
âWeâll be fine,â he whispered and he sounded to be closer now. His warm breath brushed against your temple. Maybe you werenât entirely out of your mind yet. âItâs just a month.â
âJust a month.âÂ
You werenât yet sure whether you wished it would last less or more.
[DAY 2, SATURDAY]
Three things had greeted you when you woke up: the smell of fresh coffee, the brightest sun you had ever had the displeasure of waking under, and someoneâs arm around your waist. You almost hadnât cared whose arm it was because it was holding you to a warm body, safe from the evils of the morning chill.
Begrudgingly, you had eventually opened your eyes and glanced around. You had fallen asleep on the sofa instead of your bed â a work-around for last nightâs problem if youâd ever seen one, even if it was horrible for your back. And the arm belonged to none other than your roommate who looked like an angel as he slept, resting his head on your shoulderâŚÂ
âAnd how is any of that my problem?â Chan yawned over his cup of coffee as he watched you pace around his kitchen ten minutes later. He didnât really have any plans anyway but itâs not like he enjoyed having neighbours march into his apartment to rant about their love lives (even if it was great material for the buildingâs gossip group chat which he would no doubt update as soon as youâd leave).
You offered him a glare. âYouâre supposed to be a supportive friend.â
âYou must have me mixed up with someone,â he deadpanned and took a sip of his hot drink. âWhatâs so bad about waking up next to him anyway? Itâs not like youâve never shared a bed before.â
Your face felt like it was burning at his words. âHow do you even know that?â
Unimpressed, he raised a brow. âYou did the same thing the last time it happened â ran in screaming and crying and giggling like a schoolkid.â He paused, narrowing his eyes a little as if a thought was occurring before adding, âYou actually do this a lot. Itâs a little concerning.â
âWhatever,â you groaned and slumped in the bar stool across the counter from him. âWhat do I do?â
âSeize the day and appreciate the fact that youâre dating your crush?â
âFake dating,â you corrected him with a mild glare. And you had only revealed so much to him because he was your best friend and confidant (and because you had made him swear on his life that he wouldnât tell anyone else).
Chan scoffed a laugh. âHe might be faking but thereâs no way you are. You suck at improv. Just embrace it and go with the flow.â
You stared at him. Were all your friends this unhelpful or was this just a trait unique to Lee Chan?Â
âWhy do I even come to you for advice?â you thought out loud. âItâs not like you can even get a date yourself.â
He sputtered and coughed up the sip of coffee he had unfortunately taken just seconds before. His ears turned red. âAt least Iâm trying.â
âSo am I!â you whined. âCome on, give me something to work with. Iâm in the middle of a crisis.â
âAll of which is self-inflicted.â
âI hate you.â
âMaybe, but you love Joshua,â he teased, winked, and narrowly dodged the apple you threw at his head. He laughed heartily before taking another sip of his coffee. âIâm serious though. You might as well take advantage of your arrangement. Just forget about the fake part and just think of yourself as his girlfriend. Iâm sure he wonât complain about your authenticity.â
âI donât think thatâs how it works.â
âWell, then take advantage some other way,â he suggested, appearing a little frustrated (which was fair; you had, in fact, interrupted his much needed me-time and breakfast for one). âWhat are you getting out of this arrangement anyways? He gets his mom off his back, and you? Is getting to live out your late-night fantasies the only perk?â
You stared at him. For a moment, he feared you were getting ready to hurl another fruit at his head. But then, instead of reaching for an apple, you slumped in your seat and let out a curious noise. âHuh.â
âHuh?â he mimicked, still tense in case it was a fake-out and you were going to throw something at him regardless.
âYouâre right,â you said and he worried even more.Â
He glanced towards the nearest door from the corner of his eye, wondering if it was close enough for a safe escape. You never said Chan was right â that just wasnât a thing. It never happened. He had a bigger chance of getting struck by lightning than to hear you say those two words. Chan was fearing for his life.
âIâm right?â he echoed hesitantly.
âIâm getting nothing out of this arrangement,â you said with a scoff of disbelief. âThat little scammer! Iâm out here improv-ing my ass off to please his mother and all I get in return is daydream material? Screw that!â
Across from you, Chan still wasnât sure if this was a healthy development or if he should call Jeonghan for back-up. Regardless, he decided it was safer to just play along. He let out an empathetic cheer and agreed, âScrew it! Yeah! Heâs too nice to say no anyways.â
âIâm gonna make him pay!â you decided and marched out of his apartment.
The moment you were out of his sight, Chan breathed out a sigh of relief.Â
But you? You froze in the hallway. You just had to cross the hall and demand your due payment. But what would you even ask for?Â
As your mind raced for ideas â a new laptop? a new wardrobe? â, the door of your apartment opened. As if you were cursed, Joshuaâs head peeked out.Â
âOh,â he spoke and his voice was so soft and welcoming that you almost convinced yourself you couldnât take advantage of him any more than you already were, âthere you are! We were starting to worry.â
âWorry?â you parroted dumbly.
âYeah,â he laughed and reached out a hand as if to invite you in â as if your name wasnât on the lease right next to his â, âwe were about to have breakfast. Mom made french toast.â
âOh.â You silently wondered what had happened to the woman you had been two minutes ago in Chanâs apartment. The spine you had grown seemed to have disappeared as soon as Joshua flashed you a smile. You were capital S Screwed.
Deep in your thoughts, you hadnât noticed Joshua staring at you, confused and puzzled, his hand still outstretched for you to take. He cleared his throat to call your attention and forced his smile to brighten as he wriggled his fingers as if to entice you. You sighed quietly before faking a smile and taking his hand, finally letting him pull you to the kitchen.
âThere you are,â his mother called out the moment she saw you. She was already at the table, sipping her tea and eyeing the fresh toast. âWe were just beginning to wonder where you had gone.â
âYeah,â Joshua agreed before frowning at you as he pulled a chair out for you to sit, âwhere did you go?â
What would be a convincing lie? A half-truth â at least thatâs what Joshua himself had once told you in a drunken giggle fit.
You took a deep breath and lied through your teeth, âI remembered I promised to help Chan with something.â
âChan?â She looked at you and there was an odd glint of something in her eyes. Amusement? Judgement? Suspicion. Thatâs what it was â it was clear cut suspicion and you had to shake it off before she caught onto your plan.
âOur neighbour from across the hall,â Joshua said quickly. Too quickly. You thought he must have recognised that glint in her eyes as well. âHe and (Y/n) get along great.â
She hummed thoughtfully, giving you one last glance before declaring, âWell, letâs eat before it all gets cold, kids.â
[DAY 3, SUNDAY]
You had managed to avoid this twice already. This being the act of sharing a bed with the very man who had been the main character of your beautiful love-struck dreams for the past 7 months.Â
The first time had been a lucky break â falling asleep on the sofa with a Transformers movie playing in the background. It had been believable enough.
The second time â last night â, had been less of a lucky break and more of a Joshua scheme. Whether it was because he couldnât fathom the idea of sharing even a room with you (hurtful, but valid) or because he was afraid youâd be uncomfortable (absolutely valid), he had gone to hang out with his friend Jeonghan and the newest inhabitant of the building Choi Seungcheol and didnât return until noon. And even now he was still hungover from their late-night activities.
But this time? It seemed that three was not a magic number after all.Â
Dressed in your least revealing pyjamas, you stood next to Joshua, collectively staring at the twin bed in the corner of your room.Â
The silence was deafening and suffocating you. And the butterflies in your stomach seemed to have doubled since this arrangement started.Â
âDo you think itâs too late to call Jihoon and ask for a spare mattress?â you wondered out loud without really meaning to.Â
You wanted to slap a hand over your own mouth â all these months of pining but when the opportunity is served to you on a silver platter, youâre a coward. What was it that Mina had called this?Â
Self-sabotage? Sounds about right.
Joshua glanced at the time on his phone before sighing and looking at the bed again. âItâs already past midnight. And you have work at 8.â
âOh.âÂ
âWhatever,â he sighed, blinking his eyes closed and rubbing the bridge of his nose. âIâll take the window side. You take the wall side.â
Any love-blind or anxious thoughts jumped right out your third floor windows. Why did you even have a crush on this man who cared so little for your sleep? Making you sleep against the wall? When his shoulders were almost as wide as your whole bed?Â
To quote the wise words of Lee Jihoon: Joshua? A gentleman, my ass!
You scoffed. âNo way! Last time I let you do that, you almost squashed me.â
Frowning, he shushed you and pointed at the door. âMy momâs next door.â
You rolled your eyes and continued in a whisper â because unlike him, you were considerate of your friendsâ feelings and needs â, âIâm not sleeping against the wall.â
âFine,â he agreed with a soft scoff of disbelief, his eyes widening, âIâll sleep against the wall.â
âAnd what? Push me off my own bed?â
He stared at you like you had grown a third head. But really he couldnât argue â he knew he couldnât because you had a perfectly valid point. And besides, he had lived with you long enough to know there was no winning against you.Â
âThen what do you suggest?â he asked, defeated.
No ideas were popping up. You stayed quiet.Â
After a few minutes of silence, you relented and suggested, â... Rock paper scissors?â
âYou didnât like either idea,â he reminded you.
âJust pick a side to defend. Whatever. Iâm voting I get the window side.â
âBut you didnât wantââ
âI want the window side,â you insisted half-heartedly but you both knew you were lying. There was no winning for you â not with a bed this size.
âWhy did I choose you?â he thought out loud as he lifted his hand in the starting position.Â
You almost scoffed at his words because itâs not like he actually had any other choices anyway. You were the only one crazy enough to agree to his scheme. Joshua had exactly two partners in crime and you doubted Jeonghan would have agreed to pretend to be Joshuaâs boyfriend for a month. So, really, you were his one and only option.
âRock, paper, scissors, shoot,â you softly counted in unison.
Your rock was swiftly beaten by his paper. You werenât sure why that annoyed you â you were on the losing end of the bet either way.
Joshua stepped back and grandly gestured towards the bed with a sarcastic smile, âMy love.â
âI hate you,â you told him with a groan and got in the bed before pulling yourself to the side against the wall. You already knew this would be a miserable night.Â
Your roommate chuckled and followed suit, settling on his own side. Immediately, you regretted getting in the bed with him. Joshua took up more than half of the bed, easily and even when he was trying to be considerate, rolling to his side to take up less space, he was too close for comfort.Â
Perhaps, you wondered, he wouldnât bat an eye if you got out right now and pulled an all-nighter on a report you desperately needed to work on before the morning (the report being your Netflix catalogue; Bridgerton was calling your name).
But before you could even open your mouth to lie, Joshua pulled the blanket up to your neck, tucking you in with a gentle smile. âWe can switch tomorrow, if you want. Just get some sleep now. You have an early day.â
As he closed your eyes and subconsciously leaned closer to you, you wondered if it would be so hard to take advantage of the situation after all and pretend itâs real. Would it really hurt to just forget about the âfakeâ part of your fake dating plan and just⌠lean a little closer and rest your head on his pillow instead of your own?Â
His hand was so close to yours, fingers just inches from touching.Â
What would happen if you just reached out and wrapped your hand around his? What would happen if you pressed a single affectionate kiss to his knuckles?Â
Would he smile in his sleep?Â
Or would he be appalled?
You shook the thoughts out of your head and squeezed your eyes shut. This was going to be a long night.
[DAY 4, MONDAY]
In your months of living with Joshua, you had shared more than a few breakfasts. Hungover, sick, or even after a foul fight over whoâs turn it had been to take out the trash â none of those breakfasts had been nearly as unpalatable as this one.
You could hardly look at him from across the table. Mortified. Ashamed. Certain he wouldnât even want to look at you. You avoided his eyes and he avoided yours as his mother fussed about and piled waffles upon waffles onto your plates.Â
It might have been rude to not listen to your guestâs morning rambles about the weather and the news channel, but you were still too caught-up in your embarrassment to pay her any kind of attention.Â
You knew you shouldnât have fallen asleep. You shouldâve ignored the fluffy sheep and refused the offers of the Sandman. You really should have because you hadnât and now you were forced to live the knowledge that Joshua had to gently shake you awake from his spot underneath you.Â
From UNDERNEATH you. Meaning you had fallen asleep on top of your very handsome roommate.Â
And now you couldnât even look him in the eyes again.Â
âAre you kids alright?â his mother wondered all of a sudden and a jolt of fear went through you.Â
On instinct and instinct alone, your head snapped to share a look with your âboyfriendâ. Remembering the morning incident, you immediately looked away again and feigned nonchalance even as your cheeks and ears burned (out of the corner of your eye, you saw him do the same â there went the small chance that he had thought nothing of it).
âYeah, why?â Joshua replied after clearing his throat.
âYouâre usually not this quiet,â she said and you found her looking at you with concern. âDid something happen? Did you two fight?â
âWhat? No!â you protested without really meaning to. In your head, you reminded yourself that it was just a reflex and the desperate need to fulfil your part of the deal. âWeâre completely fine.â
âAre you?â she still worried, hands on her hips as she took turns looking at the two of you. âBe honest: is me being here a problem? You seem so awkward, like even being in the same room is a chore. Did you fight because I came to stay here?â
âNo, no,â you and Joshua protested in unison.Â
You shared another look, forgetting your embarrassment now that your plan was in jeopardy.
âAre you sure?â she asked. âBecause I really didnât want to cause you problems. If Iâve done something to upset either of youââ
âMom,â Joshua assured her with a gentle smile that didnât look entirely genuine, â(Y/n) and I are fine. Weâre justâŚâ
âStressed from work,â you supplied when he trailed off in thought. âYou know how it is.â
She didnât fully seem to buy it, still eyeing the both of you with a mix of suspicion and worry. âYouâd tell me if something was wrong, right?â She scoffed as if she had realised the gravity of her words and pinched the bridge of her nose. âWhat am I even saying? You wouldnât lie to me.â
As if your morning couldnât get any worse.
âWe should go get ready for work, honey,â Joshua suddenly excused himself and you, pulling you up by the crook of your elbow. âWouldnât want you to be late to work with all those big projects you have.â
You wondered what big projects he was talking about. Your higher-ups barely even allowed you to proofread the company documents and fix typos. But the look in his eyes said he needed you to play along.
âRight, right,â you sighed and went with him, offering his mother one last sweet smile before the bedroom door shut behind you and Joshua practically trapped you against it.Â
âSheâs onto us,â he told you quietly, all the while still avoiding your eyes. âSheâs onto us and sheâs probably already setting up a blind date with that Maria-girl.â
âWasnât it Mary?â you wondered.
Joshua replied with a half-hearted glare and a sigh. âWe need to fix this.â
âBut how?â You crossed your arms over your chest, mostly to convince yourself that there was enough space between your and his body to not have the butterflies go absolutely wild. âWe just, what, kiss and make up?â
His eyes lit up and you feared for your life. âYouâre a genius!â
âShua, I was being sarcastic.â
He didnât even seem to hear your protests. âIf we kiss, she has no reason to suspect weâre not together. And sheâll be off our backs. Itâs perfect.â
The things you wouldâve done to kiss Joshua Hong and his beautiful, plump lipsâŚÂ
Joshua must have mistaken your eager expression for one of dismay or maybe fear because his eyes widened. He lifted his hands in a way that just screamed âI was just kidding, please donât hit meâ before quickly adding, âNot that I want to kiss you â Iâm sure youâre a great kisser. We donât have to kiss though. Becauseââ
âBecause weâre friends,â you finished for him with a smile that you hoped wouldnât betray your disappointment, âand it would make things awkward, right?â
âRight,â he breathed out and visibly relaxing â slumping even â in front of you. âIâm sorry I even suggested that. Itâs dumb. Youâre my friend â you shouldnât have to kiss me if you donât want to just because of a stupid scheme to please my mom.â
If you donât want to. If you donât want to. You almost scoffed in his face â he had no idea what he was saying.
You wondered what was the formal and correct way to inform your roommate that you had the biggest, fattest, most ridiculous crush on him and would sell your left kidney for one kiss â if only he wanted to kiss you back.
âWell, we have to convince her somehow, right?â you pointed out as you prepared to start doing your hair. âI doubt a hug will make her less suspicious.â
Joshua chuckled. âYou noticed it too?â
âShe was acting like she expected us to slip up and confess at any moment,â you reminded him with a quirk of your brow, eyeing him through the mirror. âWhat did she say? âYou wouldnât lie to meâ? Oddly specific, no?â
âWeâre so screwed if we donât figure something out,â he sighed and ran a hand through his hair (it took you great strength to resist the urge to reach over and give his fluffy utter mess of dark hair a pat as well).
You schooled your expression, willing the beginnings of a blush to go away, as you suggested, âWe could still do something kiss-related, you know. Just this once, to get her off our backs.â
âIâm not kissing you,â he argued instantly, ears reddening.
Why was he so god-damn difficult? Why did he have to go on an anxious mental tangent about the wrongs of kissing oneâs roommate? Why couldnât he just kiss you already?! It was his idea anyway!
You almost rolled your eyes as you came up with an alternative, âI could kiss you on the cheek when I leave. Not as good as a kiss butââ
âThat could work.â
âOkay, great, weâve figured it out,â you told him with a chuckle and gently pushed him towards the door. âNow, get out. You havenât dated me long enough to earn the privilege of seeing me naked yet.â
He snorted a laugh at that â you were half sure it was because he had, in fact, at one point seen you naked, under very different and less than ideal circumstances involving one too many shots of Bacardi â before leaving you to your thoughts and doubts and the knowledge that your roommate did not want to kiss you at all.
[DAY 7, THURSDAY]
While there was an extensive list of reasons why Joshua Hong was the most infuriating man you had ever met (and you meant this very affectionately, which your friends found hilarious), there was an equally extensive list of reasons why Joshua was the ideal man.
His looks were definitely on the list â his doe-like brown eyes, his little birdâs nest of morning hair, his bright smiles to name some of the points.
But it wasnât all that superficial. You loved his sense of humour. You liked his unlimited patience and kindness.Â
Most of all, you loved his cooking.
On most evenings, you got home from work and found your roommate beginning to prepare dinner. Heâd offer you a wide smile and ask if his plan of tomato rigatoni suited your tastes. And then heâd just let you rant about your day as he cooked, a drink in your hand.
This tradition had been briefly broken by Joshuaâs mother taking over kitchen duties. She felt it was only fair as she was staying in your apartment for free for such a prolonged time. But as much as you loved her food (which almost rivalled Joshuaâs), you just missed your daily gossip sessions.Â
So, when you got home from work and found your roommate, friend, and fake boyfriend extraordinaire sorting through ingredients on the kitchen counter, you almost cried of joy. You had so many tales to share and you were eager to listen to his stories as well (your last gossip session had ended on a cliffhanger on his part).Â
âYouâre cooking?â you asked him, leaning over to look at the ingredients, before even remembering that was not how you were meant to greet someone.Â
Joshua jumped at voice before resting a hand on his chest and taking a deep breath. âOh my godâŚâ
âDid I scare you?â you laughed at him and offered an apologetic expression when he turned to glare at you. âSo, what are you cooking?â
âI was going to just make some vegetable soup,â he informed you with a tired chuckle. âMomâs feeling a little under the weather soâŚâ
You couldnât help but melt at the implications. The grand scheme of fake dating aside, Joshua was a great son to his mother. Yet another reason to add to your ever-growing list.Â
And perhaps it was the melting of your heart that affected your brain activity because the next thing you knew you were doing the unthinkable.
âCan I help somehow?â you asked him.Â
Even Joshua was startled by your question. And you soon realised why.
In disbelief, you scoffed. âCâmon, Iâve helped you before.â
âHave you?â His head tilted to the side in a manner resembling a curious cat but his eyes narrowed with suspicion. âYou never offer to help cook. Actually, I donât think Iâve ever even seen you use a pan.â
âShush,â you told him and gave him a gentle slap on the bicep. âWhat do you need me to do?â
Looking at the various vegetables on the counter, he puffed his cheeks out in thought. Then he shrugged. âYou could help with the potatoes.â
âWhat do I do with them?â
He sighed theatrically. âThis is why I never let you help.â
âHey!â
âJust peel and cut them into pieces, okay?â he finally instructed with a laugh that suggested he did not have a lot of faith in your ability to do so. âNot too small though.â
âI know how to cut potatoes, Shua,â you told him as you got out a knife and cutting board. âIâm a big girl.â
When he offered you another suspicious and perhaps worried glance, you decided it was time to prove a point. He didnât think you could peel and cut a potato into perfect pieces for a soup? You were going to prove him wrong and you were going to make him eat his words.
It started out great. The first potato was a breeze, peeled and cut in record time. The second and third potato were a joy to turn into smaller chunks and chuck into the bowl Joshua had provided for you. While working on the fourth potato, you started sharing gossip from work and it didnât affect your task at all.Â
For a moment you were certain Joshua would regret doubting you. You were sure there was no way you were going to mess this up and make him question your cooking abilities ever again.Â
That is until you reached the last potato. It was two chops in when you let out a whimper, dropped the knife and cradled your hand to your chest.
Joshuaâs head snapped up immediately. Eyes widening in concern, he rushed to your side. âAre you bleeding?â
âYeah,â you sighed and reached for a towel to dry the blood. âItâs no big deal though, so donât worry. Iâll g0 find some band-aids andââ
âDonât get any blood on the potatoes,â he warned with a serious frown and your jaw dropped.
You smacked him with your good hand when his scowl turned into a mischievous smile.
âIâm kidding, Iâm kidding!â he laughed and left the room. He returned just moments later with the first-aid kit. âCome here, silly. Letâs get that fixed up.â
When he reached for your injured hand, you snorted out a laugh. âYou know, I can put the band-aid on by myself.â
âWho knows,â he teased all the while focusing on your wound, âmaybe youâd mess that up as well.â
âNow youâre just being mean,â you told him but made no move to escape from your handsome nurse.
Leaning ridiculously close to you, he gently applied the band-aid. When you let out a soft hiss at the pain (mostly just to mess with him), he pouted and pressed a soft kiss to the spot. âThat better?â
It was just your luck that his mother decided to come for a glass of water at that exact moment. She let out a soft gasp of delight before feigning nonchalance when your heads snapped to look at her.Â
Clearing his throat, Joshua immediately leaned away, straightened up, and offered her a taut smile.Â
âDonât mind me, lovebirds,â she spoke in a theatrical whisper and rushed over to the cupboard to get a glass. âIâm not even here.â
You fought a grimace and turned back to your cutting board. The potato wasnât going to cut itself and the pot of broth was already calling its name.Â
âYouâre making soup?â she wondered and lifted a glass of water to her lips, barely even bothering to hide a smile. âIt smells delicious.â
Joshua chuckled. âIt will be, once (Y/n) finishes the potatoes and we add them in.â
Her jaw dropped and she lowered her glass of water.Â
âJoshua!âÂ
Her voice could only be described as the dictionary definition of the tone of a mother scolding her children for getting into trouble. It sent a shiver of fear down your spine until you realised it wasnât you she was yelling at.
Your roommate offered you a panicked look before turning to look at his mother, offering her a tight-lipped, fearful smile. âYes?â
âYouâre not actually going to make your girlfriend cook when sheâs injured like this, right?!â she demanded to know, her brows furrowed into a furious frown. âSheâs bleeding!â
âSheâs fine,â Joshua started to argue but his voice trailed lower and lower with every syllable until it faded into silence and his gaze dropped to the floor in shame.Â
She glared at him and reached to drag you away from the counter by the sleeve of your blouse. âCome on, sweetheart. You can come watch a movie with me while Joshua thinks about what heâs done.â
As you made your escape from the heat of the kitchen, you glanced over your shoulder to find Joshua looking at you with a dramatic grimace. You replied with a bright smile of victory and a playful wave before joining his mother in watching Mamma Mia.
[DAY 12, TUESDAY]
As far as ways to throw your roommateâs mom off your trail go, cheek kisses were good enough for the first couple of days. You quite grew to like them and, judging by the pinks of his ears and cheeks, so did Joshua. Every morning, youâd leave for work with a kiss to his cheek, a sweet smile and prep to your steps.
Then, of course, his mother made an off-hand comment about how it seems that Joshua never kisses you and he, of course, took that as a challenge. So, he began sending you off with forehead kisses and warm hugs. You like those even more, honestly.Â
But you both knew you were delaying the inevitable. Eventually, the cheek and forehead kisses would not be enough proof of your relationship. Paired with no late-evening love-drunk giggles and movie night cuddles, the morning kisses were barely enough to convince anyone and eventually youâd have to up your game.
You had simply hoped youâd have more time to come to terms with the fact before it happened.
âMomâs starting to get suspicious again,â Joshua simply stated in a hushed tone as he helped you put on your coat.Â
Your heart dropped at the mention. When you turned to look at him, he was looking at everything but your eyes. âIs she asking questions again?â
âShe told me to stop eating so much garlic bread because it would make my breath stink,â he said while staring at the fake plant sat on the shoe rack. âThat feels like a hint.â
âWell, you donât want to kiss me, so,â you pointed out with a shrug and shook your scarf to unravel it. âJust tell her itâs my breath thatâs bad.â
âNo way. Everybody knows your breath smells like roses and vanilla,â he joked and you choked on a laugh. He took your scarf from you and untangled a knot in the middle.Â
With nothing to do but stare at him, you came up with a mutually beneficial idea. âWe could just fake it.â
âHow do you fake a kiss?â he wondered, eyes narrowing and brows furrowing.
You shrugged. âI donât know. Isnât that what they do in movies? We just have to get the angle right.â
âHow does that work?âÂ
It turns out itâs hard to answer any questions when your crush is standing in your personal space â so close that you could smell his shampoo and conditioner. Your brain stalled, blanked and desperately tried to restart all necessary systems while you stared at him.Â
âLike this?â you heard his voice say but it sounded distant over the sound of your heart pumping.
Not seeming to notice your daze, Joshua placed the scarf around your neck gently. Carefully, he tugged on the two ends of it, pulling you closer inch by inch until you were so close that you had to fight yourself to not actually kiss him. He leaned closer and closer still, his nose brushing against yours, his hands still wrapped in the scarf to keep you from escaping. If you focused really hard, you could almost feel his lips brushing against yours ever so slightly.
The sound of the coffee maker starting and a mug being placed on the counter awakened you again, harshly forcing you back into consciousness. You let out a soft gasp without really meaning to.Â
âThatâ That wasââ Joshua stammered, stepping away from you like heâd been burned and running a hand through his hair.Â
You cleared your throat. âThat could work⌠I guessâŚâ
âRight.âÂ
âYeah.â
âHave Have a good dayâŚâ
âYeah.â
You couldnât find another word to say until you reached your office. There, you slumped into your almost-comfy chair and stared at the ceiling.Â
âFuck.â
[DAY 16, SATURDAY]
Brunch is meant to be fun. Itâs meant to bring joy. Itâs breakfast without the hassle of waking up at 8 am â whatâs not to love?
Well, you werenât sure you liked brunch that much anymore.
Traumatised (a bit of a hyperbole) and furious (the scientifically correct term), you walked into your room and shut the door behind you before turning to glare at Joshua.
While you had gone out to eat with his mother â at her insistence and with a promise of free food â, your roommate stayed home with the excuse of a headache and snuggled into your blankets like it was his rightful place.
âYou.â
His eyes blinked open. âMe?â
âWhy do you never read your damn messages?â you burst out but tried to keep your voice low to not catch his motherâs attention. âI sent you, like, fifty.â
âYou did?â He seemed genuinely surprised. Which meant that he hadnât even looked at his phone once in the hours you were gone. Why did he even have a phone in the first place?
Your hands clenched into fists. âWhat if I died?!â
âMy mom asking you to brunch isnât really a deadly occasion.â
âI barely survived! She asked me about grandkids!â
âOh.â
Your glare was unrelenting. You hoped it would somehow telepathically convey how much you wished to strangle him if only it werenât illegal and you werenât desperately in love with him.
âWell, what did you tell her?â he then wondered and you almost actually jumped to tackle and murder him.
âWhat do you think I told her, Joshua?â You scoffed. âI just said we hadnât thought about it because this is still new and you know what she did? Do you want to know what she did?â
He raised a brow. âI guess so?â
âShe started giving me the whole âyou donât have foreverâ and âIâd like grandkids before I turn 70â spiel,â you informed him and groaned. âIt went on forever.â
âYouâre a good actor,â he assured you with a small smile that almost seemed amused, âIâm sure you got your way out of it.â
âYouâre sleeping on the floor tonight,â you told him with a roll of your eyes.
He gasped. âBecause my mom asked about grandkids?!â
âBecause you donât read my texts.â
Joshua paused. âYeah, thatâs fair, actually.â
[DAY 20, WEDNESDAY]
Enough was enough. You could put up with many things â your roommateâs pranks, Chanâs endless fantasies about how heâs secretly the most sensible inhabitant of the building, Joshuaâs mother staying for a month with little to no notice â but you even your charitability had its limits.
When youâd woken up this morning, your back positively aching and your joints sore from being stuck between Joshuaâs wall-like form and the actual wall, the first thought you had was something Chan said:
âWhat are you getting out of this arrangement anyways? He gets his mom off his back, and you? Is getting to live out your late-night fantasies the only perk?â
And that was when you decided that you had finally reached your limit. With a shove that was far from affectionate or fond, you awakened Joshua and declared before he could even rub the sleep out of his eyes that heâd better keep his evening schedule and a sizable number on his bank account free for you.
What followed had been a shopping trip that dismayed him and exhilarated you. You had, after all, wanted a proper big bed for a while now. Finally, a chance to sprawl out and live out your starfish dreams without the worry of falling to the cold hard ground at 2 am. And more importantly, no more being pushed against the wall like an undignified cushion every other night.
But the thing you enjoyed most of all was Joshuaâs hair getting progressively more messy and unkempt as he tried to decipher the IKEA instructions all on his own while you curled up in your desk chair and watched him with a cup of hot cocoa in hand.
âI thought youâd be better at this,â you noted passively upon hearing his frustrated sigh and seeing him unscrew what you assumed was meant to be one of the legs of the new bed. âMaybe I shouldâve asked for Jeonghanâs help instead.â
The glare he sent your way was scathing but his tone remained as delightful as always when he assured you, âIâve got this, donât worry.â
You made a show of glancing at the time on your laptop â a rerun of Friends playing in the background in an effort to entertain your poor IKEA slave of the night â and announced, âIâm just saying. Itâs almost midnight and youâve only managed to add one leg to the frame.â
He groaned. âItâs not my fault this thing is so complicated. Why couldnât you pick out a different frame? Something more easy to assemble, for one.â
âI wanted this one,â you teased.
âThe oak one you looked at at first wouldâve been better. And cheaper.â
âIf you want me to keep playing along in your little improv show, youâd better be happy I only asked for a 700,000-won bed in return,â you pointed out and took a sip of your cocoa.Â
You sighed happily at the warmth the drink provided. Oh the joys of girlhood. You thought you could get used to this: free furniture, free assembly, and a handsome man to do your bidding.
Joshuaâs lips and eyes squeezed into a sarcastic smile as he slowly turned to face you. âDonât forget the mattress, darling.â
You shrugged. âI didnât see you protesting at the check-out.â
His smile dropped into yet another glare. âThatâs called being in shock. My bank account is dying because of you.â
Without another word, he sharply turned back to his task of assembling the frame.
âThis benefits you too, sweetheart,â you replied with a roll of your eyes. âI sleep better, you sleep better, everybody benefits.â
âFor ten days,â he muttered and practically slammed two pieces of wood together now that he was sure they were meant to go together. âAnd then you have a new comfy bed and I just have poverty.â
You snorted. âIâm willing to split custody if youâre nice to me.â
It didnât take a genius to know he was rolling his eyes. âYeah right.â
âBesides,â you adjusted your position so you could nudge his back with your foot in an affectionate manner, âyou barge in here to gossip every other night anyways. Youâre benefiting plenty.â
âRemind me to never ask you to be my fake girlfriend ever again,â he pleaded.
You knew (or perhaps wished) he only half-meant it. But even so there was a pang in your chest. A feeling of sadness as the reality once again sank in. It was easy to forget that this was just an act and he had only bought you this bed because he felt guilty and not because he loved you. The feeling would nag you late into the night.
[DAY 22, FRIDAY]
You had learnt early on that karaoke has the magical ability to heal wounds and erase bad memories, even if just for one night. Tonight you hoped it would once again prove true.
The buildingâs monthly karaoke parties were organised by Vernon and Jihoon in an effort to bring the community closer together. On every third Friday of the month, the lobby of the building would be lit with stage and string lights, decorated with colourful banners and dollar store party supplies, and a small stage would be built in the corner. As was tradition, everyone brought some snacks and drinks to the snack table and enjoyed the evening, getting progressively more drunk between karaoke and socialising.Â
You thought it was the perfect solution to your problems. With the help of loud music, your nosy friends and alcohol, you would for sure soon forget your heartache and worries.Â
There was, however, one problem you had forgotten: Joshuaâs protective nature.
You had successfully managed to avoid him for the better part of the evening, sneaking between people, hiding behind Mingyuâs wide frame under the guise of playing hide and seek with your roommate (something Mingyu was very happy to help with; you suspected he just liked to feel useful), and running at every mention of Joshua.Â
Seamlessly, the karaoke soon worked its miracle. You found you had missed the liberty that came with hanging out with your friends and not worrying how everything appears to Joshuaâs mother. For this one night, you were not Joshuaâs fake girlfriend, not someoneâs pretend-daughter-in-law, and not an actress struggling at improv â you were once again just (Y/n), a simple woman in love with her best friend, eyeing him from across the room and giggling with your friends about it.
By the time you remembered you were hiding from him, you were far from sober and your thoughts were getting a little jumbled as you made conversation with Minghao, laughing between every other word because saying things was hard and your tongue felt heavy in your mouth. Minghao didnât say a word and only smiled at you fondly, like one would at a kitten trying to chase after shoelaces, as he listened to you.Â
His attention was caught by something behind you and you saw him give someone a gentle nod and a bright smile. Then, before you could even process the situation or ask any questions, he placed a hand on your shoulder and turned you around, bringing you face to face with him.Â
You werenât sure what it was about the dollar store lighting in the lobby, but you had always thought it made Joshua look even more delectable. It was hard not to stare at the shadow his lashes cast on his cheeks or the definition of his muscles visible through the thin fabric of his button-up shirt.
âHi!â You greeted him with a wave and an intoxicated giggle, momentarily forgetting about the freshly opened can of beer in your hand and letting it slosh in your hands. âOh! Sorry, my bad!â
A situation you wouldâve once thought to be mortifying only made you laugh harder tonight as you searched for tissues and began to dry your hand. You didnât notice when Joshua had taken the drink from you but you also wouldnât notice he never gave it back.
He watched you with a smile. âHaving fun?â
âOh my god, Iâm having so much fun,â you rambled, eyes shining as you looked at him, already forgetting your quest to dry the floor. âDid you see when Seungcheol and I did âAlcohol-Freeâ together? It was so much funââ
It was hard to finish your thought when he looked at you with those pretty eyes, and smile, andâÂ
He adjusted the sleeves of your dress for you and you almost melted. All thoughts gone. Words? Never heard of those.
You were silent for so long that he chuckled. âYou awake?â
âIâ Yeah, totally,â you replied, blinking your eyes to force yourself to focus again. âHow about you? Are you having fun?â
He shrugged. âI usually have more fun when youâre with me.â
âOh.â
âYou didnât even sing âBreaking Freeâ with me tonight,â he complained playfully but you thought you saw a hint of actual sadness in his eyes. âIâm glad youâre making friends with Seungcheol though.â
You hummed and nodded. âHeâs very nice. Very handsome too.â
His eyes widened and you couldnât quite figure out why.Â
Not that you even wanted to figure it out. You were, in all honesty, more preoccupied with memorising how pretty he looked with his doe eyes. The purples and yellows and pinks of the lights reflected back from the browns of his eyes and you thought it was the prettiest sight you had ever witnessed. No sunset, sunrise or wild landscape could compete with this view.Â
And you wanted to tell him that; but words were so hard when your blood was buzzing with alcohol and adrenaline. So you thought you should show him somehow.Â
Your eyes closed briefly. You leaned forward just a bit. Then your lips pressed against his. For just a moment. You couldnât help but smile as you leaned back and opened your eyes again.
If you had thought his eyes were pretty before, they were positively the most gorgeous sight now as he stared back at you in wonder and confusion. There were not enough words in the dictionary. You thought they ought to fix that problem and add a few just to be safe.Â
âThe girl who wins your heart will be so lucky,â you told him softly and pressed another gentle kiss to the corner of his mouth. âI wish I was her.â
â(Y/n), Iââ he started and you felt the alcohol leave your blood in an instant, the warm buzzing replaced with a cold rush.Â
Before he could say anything in response, you ran out of the party.Â
[DAY 23, SATURDAY]
Seokmin had always heavily advertised the buildingâs monthly karaoke parties as âlife-alteringâ. He wrote that in large letters with a bright red marker on every karaoke party notice he saw and he said the exact phrase to every person he talked to in the week leading up to the event. Which was especially funny because 1) he wasnât on the advertising team, 2) there was no advertising team to begin with, and 3) he never even volunteered to help organise the events. You had concluded that he was just very incredibly enthusiastic about karaoke (and with a voice like his how could one not be?).
But you now feared he was right after all.
Upon realising your mistake, you had, for a moment, contemplated going home and hiding in your room before you realised it would be the first place heâd look for you.
So, instead, you sent a silent apology your best friendâs way and took the spare key from under the doormat before letting yourself into Chan's apartment.Â
Even as the morning arrived, you didnât dare face Joshua. Not after what had happened. Not after you had kissed him and told him you wished heâd fall in love with you and kissed him again. You could never go home again.Â
Chan looked away from his laptop screen just to give you a look with one of his brows raised. âYou literally live with him.â
âThatâs the whole point. I canât go home,â you told him, lying face-down against his thigh.Â
Turns out itâs surprisingly easy to make physical contact with men when youâre not attracted to them. You silently wondered if that could be the solution to your obvious touch-starvation problem â why else would you drunkenly kiss your roommate?
He rolled his eyes. âThen whatâs your plan, drama queen?â
You didnât answer, mulling it over in your head. There really werenât a lot of options.Â
Maybe it was a sign â finally you could fulfil your life-long dream of adopting a new identity and moving to Iceland to become an anonymous sheep herder. It sure sounded more tempting than facing Joshua Hong again.
Before you could open your mouth to suggest a viable idea, Chan beat you to it with a click of his tongue. âYouâre too poor to move to Iceland. And no, you canât move into my place either.â
There went your plan A as well as plan B.
âFuck you,â you told him and rolled over to face the ceiling. âThen what do I do?â
âWhat you always do, I guess,â he sighed and turned back to his online shopping addiction. âYou complain a bit, throw an apple at my head, and then pretend nothing ever happened between you and Joshua.â
You blinked. âDo I always do that?âÂ
âWithout fail.â
You hadnât realised there was a pattern. Perhaps this whole thing was worse than you had thought. Perhaps taking a new identity and running really was your only option. And who knows, you thought, maybe youâd find a nice man in Iceland and fall in love with a not-Joshua instead. Then youâd at least be free of one problem, even if at the expense of a new set of issues.
âInstead of catastrophizing, you should use this opportunity,â Chan broke the silence, eyes still on the screen.
You suddenly understood why throwing an apple at his head was part of the pattern. Fortunately for him, the apples were just out of your reach and you were too comfy and hungover to go get even one. âTo fake my death and go into hiding? Absolutely.â
âWhat? No!â He frowned at you as if you had suggested 2+2 was 5. âWhat is wrong with you? You need to face this whole thing head-on instead of making escape plans!â
âIâd honestly rather go missing under mysterious circumstances.â
âOr,â he started and flicked your forehead with his fingers, making you curse at him as he rolled his eyes, âyou could accept the fact that you confessed to your crush and see what he thinks of that.â
âHe looked horrified last night.â
âYou were drunk and kissed him without permission,â he reminded you helpfully. You failed to see how that information would soften the blow. If anything, it was making you feel like a predator â and not even a very clever one. You grimaced. âGive the poor guy a minute to process before jumping to conclusions. He was just surprised. If you stuck around instead of pulling a Cinderella, maybe you wouldâve found out it wasnât that big of a deal. Who knows, maybe he even likes you back.â
âPull a Cinderââ You sputtered and glared at him. âWhy do I ever come to you for advice?â
He offered a smug smile. âBecause deep down you know Iâm right.â
You were certain he wasnât. You couldnât imagine any scenario outside of your daydreams where the situation couldâve been resolved with a smile and a confession from Joshua Hong. You could, however, imagine a thousand scenarios of him running away or being so disgusted by your behaviour that heâd call off the fake dating scheme once and for all.
Seeing your hopeless expression, Chan sighed. âInstead of making doomâs day plans, try to look at the bright side of things.â
âWhat bright side?â you asked, closing your eyes and wishing the month would end already. âI embarrassed myself in front of my crush. Whatâs the bright side, Mr Positivity?â
His silence spoke louder than any words ever could have.
[DAY 24, SUNDAY]
After two nights at Chanâs apartment, you finally decided it was time to face your nightmare. If Joshua hadnât unilaterally called off the scheme yet, his mother must have for sure been worried about the state of things. You thought you owed him at least these last 7 days of fulfilling this nonsensical plan.Â
So, after two cups of coffee and a pep talk from Lee Chan, you braced yourself and walked into your own apartment for the first time all weekend.Â
It was silent. Of course it was, you thought and facepalmed: it was only 8 am on a Sunday. Just because your sins and demons had kept you from sleeping in didnât mean Joshua and his mother would be awake at this damned hour.
You were just about to come to terms with the fact when a soft pitter-patter of feet interrupted the silence. The steps came closer and you took a deep breath to calm yourself, praying it wouldnât be who you thought it was.
But you knew it was a useless hope. You had lived with Joshua long enough to recognise his footsteps and the rhythm of his snores in your sleep.Â
He let out a sigh that seemed almost relieved once he reached the living room.Â
âWhere were you?â you expected him to ask and put on his best impression of an overprotective dad.Â
âHow dare you come back here?â you half thought heâd say and glare at you as heâd shove a bag full of your clothes into your arms and kick you out.
But he just watched you in silence for a moment as if to make sure you were real and not a figment of his overactive imagination. And only once you had been pushed to the point of awkwardness where you couldnât help but put on a tight-lipped smile and a shrug did he finally open his mouth to ask, âDid you eat yet?â
You had almost forgotten what he sounded like and it was a pleasant feeling to listen to him again. The soft murmur and slight sleepy growl to his voice sounded like home and it made the butterflies in your stomach come back to life with a roar of fluttering wings, free of shame and fear.
Your smile almost felt genuine when you replied, âI was going to make pancakesâŚâÂ
⌠To make up for what I did went unsaid, but you suspected he knew they were there nonetheless.Â
He yawned in a way that didnât seem entirely real, as if he was putting on an act to ease the awkwardness. After glancing at the clock he spoke again, âI kind of want to go eat breakfast outside today.â
âOh.âÂ
You felt a little dejected at the thought but you understood. If someone had done to you what you had to him â someone you thought was your friend suddenly kissed you and confessed to you, even drunkenly â, you probably would have needed more time as well. If he didnât want to eat breakfast at home with you, it was his right. You were sure his mother was better company than you anyways.
That didnât mean it didnât hurt you though. You turned your head to fight back the tears that threatened to make a comeback. You didnât think you had any right to cry but that didnât mean you didnât want to.Â
But before you could spiral further, Joshua chuckled, âDonât worry. Iâll pay. You can get as many waffles as you want.â
Your head snapped to face him again, eyes blinking rapidly. You pointed at yourself. âYou want me toââ
âGet dressed, silly. Iâm too poor to pay for both you and mom, you know.â He could hardly keep from smiling. âBesides, we need to talk, just you and I.â
And talk you did. Or at least you would have if you werenât so distracted by waffles and a sense of impending doom. You could hardly sit still in your chair, feeling uncomfortable sitting across from him.Â
Any moment now, you thought, heâs going to say you were an awful person. Any moment now, heâs going to say it was all a big mistake and he shouldâve just asked Jeonghan to fake date him instead.Â
But maybe Chan was right and you were a fair bit overdramatic.Â
âSo about the other night,â Joshua finally started with a heavy sigh and put down his coffee cup. He avoided your eyes (not that you wouldâve noticed because you were too busy avoiding his anyway) as he searched for words to say.Â
âIâm sorry about that,â you blurted out, abandoning your waffles.Â
He paused. âSorry?â
âIâm sorry for⌠you knowâŚâ You couldnât even say the words because it was so dumb and ridiculous and shouldnât have ever happened anyway. How does one apologise for kissing someone? You forced yourself to look him in the eyes. âI shouldnât have done it. I was just drunk and dumb and sillyâ You know how I get.â
He nodded. âRight. You were just⌠drunk.â
âYep.â
âAnd you just kissed me becauseâŚâ
âI was excited to see you,â you half-lied and avoided his eyes again. âI just hadnât seen you all night and there you were and I guess I got a littleâŚâ Carried away? Lovestruck? âIt doesnât change anything, I swear. I was drunk.â
Silence. He was silent for so long that you were half-convinced heâd gone and left you to your own devices. Paying for the breakfast wouldâve been the least of your worries.
When you looked up to see if he was still there, you saw him looking down at his food. He seemed⌠sad? Disappointed? Upset with you for making such silly excuses maybe? You shuddered to think what that odd dim look on his face meant.
The butterflies that had woken up just an hour ago went back to rest, ashamed of their work. You could just hope he wouldnât hate you forever or kick you out of the apartment.Â
Finally, after what felt like forever and then some years, Joshua forced on a smile that was a little too bright to be real. âDonât worry about it. Iâm just glad youâre back. Where did you even go after the karaoke?â
âIââ You were both overjoyed and taken aback by his question. He cared. He cared and he didnât want you gone from his life. âI kind of broke into Chanâs apartment and stayed there.â
Brows furrowing and the corner of his mouth turning downwards, he scoffed. âInstead of just coming home? I was worried sick!â
âIâm sorry!â you squeaked and somehow it was the most sincere apology you had uttered today. âI was just so embarrassed and I didnât think youâd want to see me, soââ
âI always want to see you,â he argued with a disbelieving laugh. âYouâre my best friend, (Y/n). I could never be so mad at you that Iâd never want to see you. You had me so worried! I thought youâd gone to sleep in a dumpster somewhere.â
There he was â the Joshua you had fallen so hopelessly in love with. Your silly, protective, way too sweet and dramatic Joshua. And you didnât feel ashamed to be in front of him.Â
A smile forced its way onto your lips at the thought.
âWhat are you smiling at? This is serious!â He could hardly fight a grin himself, already bordering on giggling at your argument. âI was worried about you. And mom kept asking about you and I almost told her youâd moved to Iceland like you always dreamedââ
âOkay, okay,â you interrupted him with a laugh. âIâm sorry, again. You can stop being a worry-wart now.â
âOh, Iâm sorry.â He rolled his eyes theatrically. âNext time Iâll just leave you to freeze in the dumpster.â
âI didnât sleep in a dumpster!â
âChanâs place is not much better.â
[DAY 26, TUESDAY]
You had hoped that your Sunday breakfast apologies would be the last your actions would haunt you aside from the regular night-time program of nightmares. You had apologised, you had made up, and you were friends with Joshua again as if nothing had happened at all.
Had there been a small, minimal, miniscule glimmer of hope in your heart that Chanâs words would be true and Joshua would tell you he liked you back? Sure.Â
Had it been crushed to the point of no revival? Absolutely.Â
âOh, hey, (Y/n),â Vernon greeted you when you entered the buildingâs lobby after a long day of work.Â
You glanced around and noted that, as per usual, the clean-up of the karaoke party was taking five days longer than the setting up. It was only natural, you supposed, as Jihoon was too busy to bother with this and Vernon â as per Junhui and Seungkwanâs accounts â was not the biggest fan of cleaning. Today, four days after the party, he was taking down the last string lights.
âI see some things never change,â you told him with a good-natured chuckle.Â
Though it took him a moment to understand what you were implying, Vernon rolled his eyes once the realisation hit. âYouâre welcome to come and help.â
You had walked right into that one and so you sighed. âAlright, what do you need?â
He laughed. âI was just joking. Iâve got this. I planned this entire thing anyway.â
âWouldnât you rather spend some time with your girlfriend?â you wondered. You could barely wrap your mind around how people with dating lives didnât just spend all their free time cuddling and being in love.
âEllaâs fine,â he told you with a shrug. âSheâs got Rocket and Mango to keep her company.â He paused for a moment before adding, âI think sheâs probably sick of me, anyway.â
âWhy?â
â... I ate the last ice cream.â
You snorted a laugh. âMight as well send in the divorce paperwork already.â
âRight?â he joked before raising his brows. âHow about you?â
âWhat about me?â
âWhy arenât you at home, making googly eyes at Josh?â
You froze. Did he know about your crush? Vernon â the master of not noticing the things around him â had noticed your crush? How obvious had you been?
âWhy would I do that?â you asked after clearing your throat.
He scoffed. âOh, come on, we all saw you at the party.â
It appeared the magical karaoke regrets would never stop haunting you. You cursed under your breath.Â
Barely noting your silence, Vernon turned back to the lights but asked, âSo, are you finally together? Did he finally confess?â
âConfess?â
You cringed as you felt like a broken record forced to perform, but your brain was too far in overdrive to maintain its normal operations.
âI mean, heâs been in love with you since like⌠forever, really,â he told you oh-so-casually, as if he was discussing the Monday paper or the weather. âI thought the dumbass would never confess. If he hadnât, Iâm sure Jeonghan and Seungkwan wouldâve set up a ploy to get you to date.â
And just like that you found yourself on Chanâs sofa once again. He had only greeted you with a deep, heartfelt sigh and a nod that said he had expected this.Â
As he fell next to you on the sofa, he took a sip of beer and said, âDo your thing, drama queen.â
You stayed silent, still pondering your existence and the ups and downs of your (non?)existent love life.Â
Mouth agape in surprise at your lack of complaints, Chan waved a hand in front of your face. âEarth to (Y/n)? What happened? You know, itâs good to let your feelings out. I might complain about it sometimes butââ
âVernon said Joshua has a crush on me,â you finally blurted out, staring ahead, still deep in disbelief. âIt canât be, right? Heâs probably being silly. But what if he isnât? What if heâs right? What if Joshua has a crush on me? What if he had a crush on me and then I kissed him and now he thinks Iâm gross?â
It did feel good to let your feelings and thoughts out. And now they just sounded even sillier. Why? Well, because it was ridiculous â Joshua would never have a crush on you.
Chan blinked. âVernon said that?â
âDo you think heâs right?â
He kissed his teeth. âAnd if I say yes?â
âThen why didnât he say anything?âÂ
âWhy didnât you?â
âBecause he canât possibly like me!â
He rolled his eyes and leaned back. âThere you go.â
âWhy hasnât he confessed? He couldâve told me to not apologise. He couldâve kissed me back. He couldâveââ
âMaybe heâs a coward and heâs waiting for you to confess first,â Chan guessed. âYou know, kind of like how youâre doing right now.â
âYou are entirely unhelpful,â you told him with a mild glare that one could almost mistake for fond. âI canât just confess to him. Not after what happened.â
âSays who?â
âCan you stop asking questions and help me,â you whined before practically slamming your head against his shoulder in a search for comfort. âThis is a serious crisis. Do you think he could actually like me?â
Chan hesitated. âYou didnât hear it from me, butâŚâ
âBut?â
âIâm pretty sure I overheard Jeonghan, Seungcheol and Joshua talking about you. And Iâm pretty sure Joshua said he could never live with himself if you rejected him.â
âHe did?â
âYou didnât hear it from me,â he reminded you and patted your arm in a brotherly manner. âSo I say you go and confess and live happily ever after.â
You groaned. âOr miserably.â
âIf thatâs what you want,â he joked. âBut you should still give it a try.â
âBut not today though.â
âDefinitely not today. You look like a mess,â he blurted. âHeâd have to be pretty far gone to accept your confession, Ms Frankenstein.â
He squeezed his eyes shut and tensed as if he expected you to hit him â with an apple, you guessed â and you just scoffed out something akin to a laugh.
âIâd kick you if you werenât such a good friend,â you told him instead and gently patted his cheek. âThank you for putting up with me.â
[DAY 27, WEDNESDAY]
The alarm still had a few minutes before it would go off.Â
You stared at Joshua as he slept soundly beside you. It was tempting to smooth down his hair and press a soft kiss to his forehead. But you had other things to do before you could do that.Â
You took a deep breath and opened your lips to just whisper the words â as practice for the real confession you would definitely, 100%, certainly make in a few days â but no sound came out.Â
You sighed and slumped back into your pillow. Confessing is harder than it looks in movies and books, even when heâs asleep and canât hear you.
Joshuaâs phone began ringing, notifying both him and you of the beginning of a new day. He stirred beside you. You pretended youâd been asleep this entire time.
[DAY 28, THURSDAY]
It was cold. So, so cold. Of course fate would have it that the first snowstorm of the year would hit without warning on the one day the last bus home was over an hour late. And of course it had to be on the one day when your boss asked (or, rather, begged) you to work overtime.Â
But maybe fate wasnât entirely cruel and useless, you thought as Seungcheolâs car stopped in front of the bus stop and he invited you inside with a worried smile and a wave.
âWhat are you doing out so late?â he wondered as he cranked the seat warmers up to the maximum. âDidnât you watch the forecast?â
Oh. So they had issued a warning after all.Â
âIâve been a little distracted, I guess,â you told him with a sheepish laugh before thanking him for giving you a lift and wondering, âWhat about you? Itâs not exactly driving weather.â
âEvery weather is driving weather,â he joked and offered you a bright smile that for the shortest moment had you wishing you had fallen for him and not your stupidly endearing roommate. âIâm sure Joshuaâs worried.â
You hadnât even thought to check your phone until now. Frankly, judging by its recent battery life, youâd be shocked if it had any charge left at all.
âHeâll live.â
âAre youâ I thoughtââ He hummed in thought, brows furrowing. âAre you not together?â
How you wished you were.
âNo,â you sighed. âBut I was going to confess tonight until, you know, my boss decided we needed those reports two days ago.â
Seungcheol nearly swerved his car in surprise. He was quick to fix his error â it went fairly smoothly with how empty the streets were this late at night. âIâm sorry. I really thought you were together. Heâs been talking about you so much. I thoughtââ
âApparently youâre not the only one.â You laughed. âI donât know how heâll feel if I do confess though. Maybe heâll kick me out.â
âHe wonât. No way,â he said and it almost sounded like a promise. âBut if he does, tell me and Iâll kick his ass.â
âSo you think I should confess?âÂ
âDo it. I think youâll like the outcome.â
âHow do you know?â
He shrugged. âLetâs just say I have some experience with love.â
[DAY 29, FRIDAY]
Back home, Joshua felt like he was going to go out of his mind. The clock on the wall was mocking him, moving forward even as his worry deepened.Â
It was already almost midnight. You were usually home by 7. And yet there was no sign of you.
Sighing, he fell back onto the sofa and checked his phone again. He wasnât sure how many times he had done that already. Fifteen? Fifty? Five hundred, perhaps?Â
Still no calls back. Still no sign that you had read his messages. When he tapped on your contact to call you, it went to voicemail and he almost went insane.
âIâm sure sheâs safe. Sheâll be home soon,â his mother comforted him with a gentle pat on the shoulder. But her words were hard to believe when she was staying up later than usual with him, her third cup of peppermint tea sat on the coffee table in front of them.
The clock ticked midnight and Joshua jumped to his feet. âIâm going out to find her.â
âYouâre going out? In this weather?â She didnât need to use harsh words for him to know that she was scolding him.Â
But he didnât care. He couldnât care when you werenât home.Â
So he ignored her warnings and pulled on his coat, his boots, and grabbed his car keys.Â
âIâll be back soon,â he called over his shoulder as he left the apartment. He heard her call something out to him but he couldnât be bothered to listen when he was half-certain you were buried in a pile of snow somewhere.Â
He was halfway down the stairs, somewhere between the first and second floor when he heard your voice. He couldâve sworn life returned to his veins at the sound. He sighed in relief and picked up the pace, hurrying to see you.
But then he heard another voice. Seungcheol.Â
âIf you like it, keep it,â the man from 5A spoke, his voice rich and low in a way Joshua just knew would have any woman weak at the knees. And how was he supposed to compete with that?
He heard you laugh â giggle, really. âThatâs so sweet, Cheol.â
Cheol? Joshua almost scoffed in disbelief. It had taken him two months to get to the nickname stage with you and this man comes and reaches it in less than a month?Â
He wasnât sure what this feeling in his chest was. Anger? Bitterness? No, he was just lying to himself. He knew exactly what this feeling was: jealousy. And heâd be damned if he let this continue.
Dusting off his black wool coat, he picked up the pace again and rushed downstairs to meet you.Â
The acting lessons his mother had signed him up for when he was a kid paid off now as he feigned surprise at the sight of you. Eyes widening, lips falling apart, and a gasp of air to really sell it. He ran to you from the bottom of the staircase.
âSweetheart!â he called out as he practically tackled you in a hug. He didnât even have to pretend as he held you close, one arm around your back and one pushing against the back of your head to keep you as close as humanly possible. âWhere were you? I was so worried. Are you okay?â
You had squeaked in surprise and he almost laughed. He let you go (all the while making sure to keep one hand on your back) and asked again, âAre you okay, baby?â
You seemed to be speechless, staring at him with wide eyes full of confusion.Â
Seungcheol cleared his throat and Joshua almost glared at him just to prove a point. âI should leave you with yourâŚâ
âBoyfriend,â Joshua quickly supplied with a smile he hoped came across as both friendly and venomous. You let out another squeak of surprise.Â
âRight.â Seungcheol raised a single brow before sharing a funny look with you. âIâll see you some other time then, (Y/n). And donât let your boss make you work overtime again.â
With that, he climbed up the stairs, leaving just Joshua and you.
âYou worked overtime?â Joshua wondered, visibly relaxing once Seungcheol was out of range. âHow long?â
âJust until 10,â you replied but it sounded almost robotic.Â
âItâs midnight,â he reminded you and took your hand to check if your hands were cold. He sighed in both relief that they were warm and disappointment that he didnât have an excuse to play with your hands now.Â
You scratched your head. âThe bus was late. I donât know if it even came.â
âSo, then you called Seungcheol?âÂ
The implication hurt him. He thought he was your first call no matter what happened. He had been all these months, after all. Even if he sucked at reading messages, he never failed to answer the phone on the first ring.Â
âI think my phone died. Cheol just happened to drive past,â you told him and, for once, he felt better.Â
He sighed in relief and closed his eyes, taking the situation in. It felt like he could finally breathe and think again now that you were back home.Â
âJoshua,â your voice interrupted his thoughts and he hummed, âare you okay?â
He opened his eyes and looked at you. The urge to pull you back into his arms was overwhelming. âYou had me so worried.â
âIâm sorry. I didnât mean to worry you. I shouldâve called butââ
âI canât keep doing this.â He hadnât meant to say it out loud. He really hadnât. But that hadnât stopped him at all.Â
You seemed startled at his words, not in a good way. In a way that made him wonder if you ever expected anything but the worst when he spoke to you. He had to put a stop to it.Â
But before he could, you scoffed. âWhatâs that supposed to mean? Youâre acting like I do this often.â
âThatâs not what I meant.â
âAlso, what just happened with Cheol?â He wasnât sure what had set you off, but he felt himself matching your energy, getting agitated. âSince when are you introducing yourself as my boyfriend to our neighbours? If you wanted to do that, you should have warned me.â
âI lied,â he blurted out before you could continue. âIâve been lying to you a lot.âÂ
You froze. âYou⌠You lied? What do you mean?â
He took a deep breath. âWhen I lied to my mom, when I told her we were dating â it wasnât random. I said I was dating you because⌠I guess I just wanted it to be real. I wasnât nervous because I lied to her. I was nervous because I thought youâd be disgusted and upset and hate me. But Iâve liked you since the day you moved in and Iâve been in love with you since the time you borrowed my sweater in August because the moths ate all of yours.â
âYou like me?â you asked dumbly and he actually laughed.
Joshua nodded. âIâm in love with you in a way I didnât think I could ever be with anyone.â
âAnd⌠youâre choosing to confess now?â You glanced around at the empty lobby, only a single sconce lamp lighting the way into the building. âHere? Like this? Why?â
âSeungcheolââ
Your jaw dropped. âBecause youâre jealous?!â
Joshua scratched the back of his neck and avoided your eyes. He didnât have a single excuse. He was an impulsive man. He rarely thought of the consequences or even of what he was doing in that moment. Especially when it came to you. He looked down at his feet.
âI mean,â you continued with a chuckle, âI guess Iâm no better. I kissed you at the karaoke just because I thought you were pretty.â
âI shouldâve kissed you back,â he told you earnestly.Â
You blinked. And then you blinked again. Then he saw a mischievous glint in your eye. âYou should. Right now.â
You couldnât have been serious. He didnât think you were. There was no way.
âYou canât just confess to me like this and then not kiss me,â you told him and you didnât sound mad at him. âYou owe me that much after that scene with Seungcheol and confessing to me in the building lobby, Mr Gentleman.â
Who was he to argue?Â
Taking another long gulp of air, he leaned closer. Slowly, centimetre by centimetre, unsure if you were serious or not.Â
It was his turn to squeak in surprise when you grabbed him by the collar of his shirt coat and pulled him closer to kiss his lips.Â
âSo,â he wondered, voice soft and dazed, when you pulled away, âyou like me back?â
âYou can ask Chan for proof, if you want,â you simply told him before kissing him again.Â
He didnât care to ask for an explanation. Not when he was finally getting everything he wanted.
 [DAY 30, SUNDAY]
Turns out fake dating becomes a lot easier when you just actually date. Who couldâve guessed?
The agony of sharing your bed and being pushed against the wall no matter the size of your mattress was replaced with the domestic joy of being able to cuddle your boyfriend. By the second night of dating Joshua, you had found your favourite position was letting him lie half on top of you, his head resting against your chest at the perfect angle to play with his hair.Â
The awkward breakfasts full of lies⌠Well, they still had a few emergency lies here and there, but for the most part it was stealing bites off his plate and nudging each other while giggling as his mother watched you with a mildly amused look on her face.
And the kisses. You couldnât get enough of the kisses and neither could the butterflies in your stomach, still fluttering the same as they had during your first kiss even now as he kissed you for the fiftieth time (yes, you had kept count).Â
It was only a shame that the real dating started so late into the scheme. After only two days of domestic bliss, it was time for his mother to pack her bags and go home.
Dressed in a warm coat and wrapped in a large scarf, she offered her son a warm hug, whispering endearments and gentle scoldings into his ear as you waited in the lobby. You suspected her taxi driver had fallen asleep by now. Â
She then gave you a hug as well. A short and sweet one with a warning to treat her son well. And then she added, âOh, before I forget, I left something on the kitchen table for you. Read it later, okay?â
You nodded and sent her off with a smile.
Joshua joined your side, resting a hand on your back (a new habit of his that you didnât quite mind). He wore a smile.
âWhat did she tell you?â you asked him. âWhen you were hugging.â
âTold me to stop leaving the toilet seat up,â he told you and you suspected it was only half the truth. âWhat about you?â
âShe said she left something on the kitchen table for us to read.â
He paused. âA book?â
âYou think? What if itâs a poem?â
âMaybe a letter?â
âItâs possible.âÂ
You shared a look. His motherâs taxi barely managed to leave your sight before you and your boyfriend (you could never get enough of calling him that) were dashing up the stairs to solve the mystery.
True enough, there was a white envelope on the table.
âMaybe itâs pocket money,â you guessed as you picked the envelope up. âFor hosting her or something.â
âIf it is, you should give it to me,â he told you and you werenât entirely sure he was joking. âThereâs a hole in my bank account because of you.â
âYouâre never letting that go, are you?â you sighed and opened the envelope. You were pleasantly surprised to find out you had been right â a handful of cash had been stashed into the envelope, probably enough to cover your rent for the month.
Barely bothering to hide his smirk, Joshua extended a palm. You gave him a look. Stared at him. Then sighed and placed the cash in his hand. He smiled bright and put it away in his pocket.
But the cash wasnât all. There was a folded piece of paper. A letter.
You opened it, half-expecting a scolding or a motherly warning. But this letter â as short as it was sweet â exceeded all expectations.
Sweethearts
I hope you know Iâm not unwise. I know all about your little scheme â neither of you are very good actors. Joshua, you should know better than to lie to your mother.Â
But it was entertaining and I am glad to have given you some incentive to finally take the proper steps and start dating. You make a cute couple when youâre not acting.Â
Canât wait to see you two again soon
Your jaw dropped.Â
âWhat does it say?â Joshua wondered, leaning over your shoulder to read. He let out a scoff soon afterwards. âShe can be so mean.â
âShe knew this whole time?â you cried out.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair. âI shouldâve known. It was too easy.â
âI mean, I thought she was suspicious of us, but this?â
âDo we really suck at acting this much?â
âWhatever,â you sighed and put the letter down. âIâm going to sleep. I canât handle an existential crisis right now.â
âRight, letâs go sleep,â Joshua agreed, leading you away from the kitchen with a gentle tug on your arm.Â
It was only when you were stood in front of the two bedroom doors, nearly identical and stood side by side, that you paused and a realisation hit.Â
Was it appropriate to share a bed anymore? Surely Joshua would want to go back to his own room now that it was free again?Â
You almost groaned out loud: you had thought the doubts and useless problems would cease after the confession. Everything was good and great and wonderful, so why were the stupid worries back?
Having probably reached the same conclusion, Joshua seemed just as stumped. He stared at his bedroom door for a while and you were certain heâd go to sleep in his own bed for the night, ending your most favourite part of newfound domestic bliss.
âI paid for the bed,â he suddenly said with a laugh and gently pushed you towards your room, following closely after. âYouâre not getting rid of me now, sweetheart.â
âSo youâre just inviting yourself into my room now?â you joked, nudging his side before letting yourself fall onto the bed.Â
He laid down next to you, resting his head on his arm after rolling to his side to face you. He grinned. âItâs our room now.â
You loved the sound of that and you were certain he could see it on your face.
âSo what will we do with your room?â
Joshua pondered for a moment. âWe could turn it into a guest room. something tells me momâs going to want to visit again soon.â
You paled at the mention of her. âI donât think I can ever look her in the eyes again.â
âMe neither,â he sighed and leaned over to hide his face in the crook of your neck. âLetâs not think about it any more.â
âYouâre the one that brought her up!â You laughed.
âLetâs just go to sleep,â he said. âI love you.â
The butterflies went crazy. You couldnât and wouldnât fight the smile that appeared on your face. âI love you too.â

[3:11 pm]
(cw: f!reader, pregnant reader)
"Hi everyone!" You smile at the camera you've propped up, "Jae and I did some shopping today and we want to do a little unboxing."
Jaehyun rests his chin on your shoulder, watching as you bring the collection of small boxes into the view of the camera. "We were supposed to go baby shopping, but this one got distracted by these weird little toys so we got some," he grumbles, bringing a soft hand to the bottom of your bump.
"We did do baby shopping! We got some clothes and burp clothes and some little socks! We even ordered the crib today!" You counter while turning to look at him. You smile at the camera, "but I've been seeing these all over social media so I wanted to get a couple boxes of each one. We have some Sonny Angels and some Smiskis."
You grab one of the boxes and hand another to Jaehyun. His eyes scan the box, looking at the options on the side. He hears you say, "I want either the pineapple or the peach for my peach boy."
He blushes as you press your lips to his cheek lovingly, "I want the strawberry since you've been eating them nonstop since you got pregnant."
You both open the boxes and pull out the foil bags, he opens his first and frowns, "what the hell is this thing? Why is it spiky?"
Your laugh rings out, "awwww, I think it's a durian. It's cute, honey. Ok, well I got..." You rip open the bag and cheer excitedly, "awww, I got the strawberry!"
"Baby, why are they naked?" he questions with his brows furrowed.
You shrug your shoulders while handing him another box, "I don't make them, Jaehyun. Look at the little faces though, oh my god, I want a hundred more of them. Alright, sorry, these are the Smiskis."
"They look like boogers with faces," Jaehyun mumbles while he turns the box in his hands.
You snort, "these are from the living series. I want... I want the one with the pillow. Which one do you want, honey?"
"I kinda like the one with the flute," Jaehyun replies while opening the box.
This time you open yours first, you smile and coo at the little figure with a cat. You set it up beside the two Sonny Angels while Jaehyun opens his bag. He makes a noise of confusion when he sees the mini figurine, "this one wasn't an option, what is this?"
He holds up the green toy, with its arm out and a flower head. Your eyes scan over the side of the package, "it's not even an option- wait, I think you got the secret one."
"You have weird taste in toys, baby. I mean these two are naked with fruit heads and these two look like messed up boogers," Jaehyun shakes his head, rubbing the swell of your stomach over the soft cotton of your shirt.
You roll your eyes, "whatever, I think we should get more. Thanks for watching!" You reach to stop the video and turn to Jaehyun with a pout. You bat your lashes up at him, "can we go back?"
"We got home an hour ago!" Jaehyun laughs loudly, pressing a kiss to your forehead through his smile.
"Don't you love me? Don't you want me to be happy? The baby wants more toys, are you going to deny your daughter a toy? Before she's even born?" You ask him in an accusatory tone.
He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose as he tilts his head back. His hand gently massages your lower back as you lean into him, pressing your chin into his chest. If you had him wrapped around your pretty finger he couldn't imagine how much his daughter would get away with when she was born.
"Different boxes this time?" he asks tiredly. Your happy dance and excited cheers are enough to have him feeling reenergized as he guides you to the couch to rest, with a bowl of strawberries, before he grabs his keys and makes his way out again.

âi'll never forget how stupid in love i felt. i'll always regret how i couldn't ever tell, that you walked a little faster, left me behind.â
âkissed me with somebody else in mind. i loved you so much that i settled for less.â
âoh, you were my everything⌠i was your second best.â
- laufey | âsecond bestâ
jaehyunâs pov.
âfuck, fuck, fuck,â i shouted as the door closed. i contemplated chasing after her, but something told me not to. how couldâve i been so fucking stupid? why did i think she would understandâ no, this whole shit was impossible to understand.
i cheated and lied to her. there wasnât going to be anything i couldâve done now to undo what i did. i did the worst thing a man couldâve done, and broke her, played with her innocent self. i could love for infinitely, but that still wouldn't have been enough to repair the damage.Â
i looked down, remembering the gift she gave me right before leaving. this small gift bag held a massive weight. with trembling hands, i started unboxing it and pulled out a small velvet box.
no, this couldnât be⌠now hurriedly i opened it. a silver colored ring, in the middle of the box. you fucking bastard, i thought. i really fucked up, really beyond repair.
i took the ring out. i noted the small stones around the band of the ring, my birthstone, amethyst.
my cheeks felt wet, only then did i realize i started crying. now i regret not chasing after her, spending the rest of my day apologizing to her, pleading with her. she took my happiness when she walked out that door, a part of me with her.
and for all i knew matters would only continue to get worse from here on outâŚ
two lines.
there are two fucking lines on the stickâŚ
âiâm pr-pregnantâŚâ i muttered.
this couldnât be happening, oh how i wished this was a dreamâ a nightmare i could wake up to right about now. but no, this is fucking reality.
well i guess that would explain why i was late and the nauseating feelings i kept having. however so i still hoped it would come out negative. it wasnât that i didnât want this child, it was just about whether or not iâd be up to live as a single mother.
i caressed my stomach, though still unnoticeable, how would this child be able to live? made without mutual love, and there was no denying this was a result of that night. the very same night before disaster struck.
did the birth control not work? i thought. no, impossible itâd always worked, but perhaps luck was truly never in my favor that day. itâd been about or over a month since that day and a lot has happened, my newly discovered pregnancy being one of those things.
as i walk outside my bathroom and into my bedroom, i gently sit on the edge of my bed as flashbacks of the past month flood my mind. first things first, that same week i began moving out with my shared apartment with yuna. we had a pretty heated argument, both sides equally hurt and betrayed. yet one thing iâd say we both saw eye-to-eye was how much of a scum he was. who knew a simple man would cause our friendship to fall apart.
anyhow, with that out the way i started making preparations to move out of not only that apartment but the city. luckily the move went smoothly thanks to a special someone.
mr.jeong.
it happened a day after my talk with yuna when i decided to talk to his father. i felt the need to come clean, confess to everything that went on. to my surprise, mr.jeong hadnât yet heard of our breakup nor from his son. i expected mr.jeong to feel upset, or at least angry towards me but he didnât. in fact he cursed at his idiotic son, sympathizing with me. the woman who entered a fake relationship and lied to him, nonetheless there was no denying mr.jeongâs genuine care and love towards me. he treated me as his family, the thought made my heart ache. i mean it was a silly thought as iâd never will become his family.
our talk lasted well around an hour before i decided to depart. i made the decision to tell mr.jeong that iâd be moving, in which he offered two things. one, to never tell that idiotic son of his where iâd gone to in case he asks. two, money.
i refused to take the money, but he insisted i take it since iâd just quit my cafe job. also adding how expensive getting a singular apartment would be for me. after much dispute⌠i ended up taking the money. he also added there was no need to repay him back, and that if i wanted to look at it as a iâm-sorry-for-my-idiotic-sons-foolishness recompense.
nonetheless iâm eternally grateful to mr.jeong. i mean without his help i probably wouldn't have been able to move into this apartment in a fairly quicker time as if i didnât have the amount they asked for. once i settled in, i began job hunting.
just the other day i went in for an interview. i still awaited the call from the company, it was a publishing firm.
i plopped down onto my bed, absentmindedly staring at the ceiling. who knew the year would turn out so catastrophic for me. a whirlwind of thoughts flooded my mind which eventually led me to a deep slumber. the pregnancy sure to be the cause of my tiredness.
ring. ring. ring.
my eyes slowly fluttered open, trying to find the noise of the abrupt ringing. my phone's screen lights up, vibrating against the mattress. i reached a hand towards the device, not even bothering to look at who was calling me.
âhello? is this y/n?â a womanâs voice spoke.
slightly unconscious i answer, ây-yes, may i ask whoâs this.â
âah- nice to speak to you y/n, this iâm mrs.kang and i work for the publishing firm you applied for.â
oh, now i was fully awake. âwoa- hello! nice to mee-speak to you ms.kang,â i stumbled on my words.
a slight chuckle arose from the other line, âyes, well i just wanted to tell you that⌠youâre in! congratulations, the company has decided to hire you!â
what! no way⌠it has to be a dream. i pinch myself, ow. okay not a dream. âwo-wow, thank you so much! w-when can i start!â
ânext monday, if thatâs alright with you,â she explained. âyes! thatâs fine with me,â i almost immediately replied. âthatâs great, see you on monday ms.l/n!â
i bid her farewell before hanging up. wow. my life is really seemingly picking up after all the bad luck. oh but now there was the baby to think about, i still havenât called my clinic. âitâd be best to call them now,â i muttered. and so i did, my appointment was set for thursday.
i reach back for my stomach, a faint smile appeared on my face. âmy little light,â i whisper into the empty bedroom.
i was keeping my baby, it didnât matter whether i would be a good mother or not because this child was a little gift to me sent from the heavens above. my baby, not his. âyou may not have a father, but thatâs okay, my little light. iâll make sure to give you both so youâll never feel lonely. mommy loves you so much already.â
my little light. finding my way out the deepest depths of hell, you became my light who guided me to my new beginning. and for that youâre my little light. my savior.
jaehyunâs pov.
i drove into the driveway of my fatherâs residence, parking before finding myself knocking at his front door. heâd called me yesterday night, urging me to see him today. i wonder what he couldâve wanted. i wasnât in the mood to see him today or come to my childhood home where memories of her existed.
itâs been over a month since we broke up and my life has been nothing but a shit show. i stare at my left hand, the sun's light reflecting on the piece of medal around my finger. her final gift, her parting gift; the ring found itâs home on my left ring finger. iâve never taken it off once since that day that i put it on.
i canât even count how many nights i spent crying, drinking, and cursing myself. y/n⌠her name hurt to say, verbally or not. sometimes it felt as though she was still there, waiting for me at my apartment, in my car, everywhere. she haunted me everyday, even when i slept.
she never answered or responded to any of my calls or texts, assuming she blocked my number.
the door swings open, and instead of being met with ms.kim i was met with an angered man, my father. ânice to you see you too,â i said when he didnât offer to greet me first. strange, i thought. normally heâd be chatty but today he just walked, guiding me to his office. we took a seat across from each other on the leather couches he had in there.
silence filled the office before i decided to speak up. i cleared my throat, âso whatâs wrong father.â
he huffed, âyouâre no son of mine jaehyun.â i furrowed my brows, no son of mine?
he mustâve noticed my confusion because he then continued. âi know what you did, what you did to her. how could you!â he spoke, his words getting louder the more he continued.
shit.
âyou think i wouldnât find out? the poor girl came to me just the other day, a mess, yet nonetheless confessed to everything that was going on between the two of you,â he continued, my eyes widening more. she came over⌠she was hereâŚ
i clenched my fists. âi-is she alright? did she look okay?â i trashed question after question. my mind only thinking of her. he stayed quiet, not answering any of my questions. a beat or two passed before he continued speaking, âi mean really jaehyun⌠lying to her just to get back with that other woman?!â
fuck, looks like he knew everything. i sucked a breath in, âi-i didnât mean to-â he cut me off, âmean to what!?â he shouts. âto fall in love with her. to break her. for any of this to happen,â i answered. my vision was beginning to blur. i faintly hear my father, tsk, before speaking.
âget ready jaehyun.â
i looked into his eyes for the first time since we entered his office. âf-for?â i asked, a gut feeling telling me it wasnât for anything good. âiâm passing the company to you. iâve been meaning to for a while now, and after all this mess you got yourself in you donât exactly deserve it but iâm not getting any younger.â
my mouth fell open, then closed. no way he was asking me to take over the company⌠i wasnât in any way, shape, or form prepared. heck i was still a mess from the break up.
âand i donât care if youâre not prepared, a mess, or whatever excuse you have to offer me, youâre gonna take over and thatâs final.â
there was no point arguing, when my father made a decision it was final. âalright,â i said, throwing my head back against the couch.
i hear as he gets up, resting my head back up. he pauses for a moment when he grabs the doorknob, turning to face me.
âand to answer your questions from earlier, sheâs gone. y/n left jaehyun, sheâs not coming back so you should give up. i mean itâs not like sheâs going to take you back after everything you put her through.â
my heart dropped, my eyes blurring again. she-sheâs gone? y/n, my y/n? no, no⌠this wasnât supposed to happen. and so before i could further inquiry my father any further, he opened the door and walked out.
he left me all alone in his office space, me and my thoughts. my gaze drops down to the ring, where a single tear drop landed.
7 months later.
âow,â you muttered. you bring a hand to your stomach, feeling the tiny kicks of the little human inside you. âi might as well sign you up for soccer,â i say, feeling another kick that causes me to chuckle. perhaps that was my sign that my little light was up for playing the sport.
for the past 7 months since i found out i was pregnant itâs been⌠a lot. it was hard being alone, but as time quickly passed i started getting the hang of it. i wished i had someone to go to, but my parents were long gone. i never really had a family to call my own, except now for this little human.
ever since my stomach started showing iâve been working at home, the company was surprisingly pretty insistent about taking a maternity leave, but i still needed a way to make money. the workload wasnât a lot, in fact i was only assigned with editing reports. nonetheless the pay was still great.
in fact, next month was going to be my last month working as the date for my birth approached, i needed to take the time off. in the 7 months too, my memory and thoughts of him dissipated. i was doing better, i could feel it. it wasnât just for me, but for my baby too. i didnât want my child to be upset with me.
as i got up to go use the restroom i heard the faint ringtone of my phone. i sighed as i looked at the caller id. âand what do i owe you the pleasure of, jungwoo?â
kim jungwoo. my co-worker and newly found best friend. he was the only one by my side and the only one iâve spoken to about everything thatâs happened. shock would be an understatement of his reaction, but nevertheless he still stuck by my side⌠annoyingly so.
âis that really a way to greet your bestest friend!? iâm very offended y/l/n, after all that trouble of going to get you those midnight cravings,â he says, falsely sobbing into the phone. though he couldnât see, i rolled my eyes. this guy, i swear.
âoh my, iâm sorry your majesty. please forgive my behavior just now,â i replied. âyou are forgiven,â he says back. âbut⌠really jungwoo, whyâd you call?â
ânothing much, just⌠open the door and youâll find out,â he says. i do as he instructed, slowly walking to my door.
you open it, revealing jungwoo with a carry-out bag in hand. was it unusual to say you developed a keen sense of smell since your pregnancy? well because it smelled like he brought over fried chicken.
âuhm⌠can you maybe drool later, and let me in now so we could dig in,â he says, standing frozen. i snap out of my hungry state, moving aside to let him in.
we walk to my dining table, sitting across from one another. jungwoo does all the unpacking whilst i watch with prying eyes as he takes the food out and opens it. âdig in,â he announces. i wasted no time, grabbing the chicken and stuffing it into my mouth. i let out a satisfied groan, the chicken tasting so damn good.
you being too engulfed with that damn delicious fried chicken, failed to notice as jungwoo turns on the television. âcome back before i finish everything,â you warn him. he lets go of the remote, stopping at some random channel. well the television was the least of your worries right now.
âhowâs she doing,â jungwoo speaks up, eyeing my stomach. âiâm thinking of signing her up for soccer when sheâs straight out of the womb, little girl can kick,â i replied, earning me a laugh from jungwoo.
a couple months back, my doctor told me the gender of my little light. a girl, my baby girl. i didnât partially care what the gender was going to be, but nonetheless i was still ecstatic about the revelation. having a baby girl meant i would be able to dress her up, so cute like a little doll.
âjeong jaehyun.â
i whip my head to the television at the mention of that name. my eyes widened, dropping the food from my hand.
ân corps newest ceo is the first to accomplish acquiring various kinds of subsidiaries in such a short amount of timeâ ranging from luxury brands to flower shops,â the female reporter says as they display a picture of the man.
i squint my eyes, focusing them solely on his left hand. i hoped my eyes werenât deceiving me because⌠is that the ring i gave him. no⌠no, my mind and eyes had to have been playing tricks on me because why on earth would he wear, better yet still have the ring.
âis that him,â jungwoo speaks up, interrupting my thoughts. i turn back around, my mood suddenly plummeting. i don't say anything, just nodding my head to indicate that the man who just appeared was the same man i spoke of.
and so for the rest of dinner we ate in silence, minor talk appearing but jungwoo would always be the one initiating it. i was too lost, going down a rabbit hole about him.
when we finished eating, jungwoo insisted on cleaning upâ he even took the garbage with him as he left. i walked him to my door, bidding him goodbye. when he was gone, i headed to the bathroom, a shower was very much needed.
plopping onto my bed, i stare at the ceiling. my thoughts on, jaehyun. a familiar ache appeared in my heart, i thought i was over him but it seems i might be far from it. âi guess mommy isnât all that strong, huh little one,â i whisper as i reach my hands over my stomach.
youâre not sure what came over you that night, that news report igniting your lost feelings. and so in the midst of your thoughts, you somehow drifted off into a deep slumber.
an interesting one, per say. not only for you but for the other party involved as wellâŚ

jaehyun crashes his lips to mine, eloping me into a deep and passionate kiss. his tongue slides along my bottom lip, begging for entry in which i grant him.
our tongues fighting one another, and teeth occasionally clashing. my mind began to fog, but i refused to stop. i could feel his love with every kiss.
âstrip,â he says in a sultry tone. i felt the air getting hot.
grabbing the hem of my top, i pulled it over my head, and then followed my shorts. i left myself in my lace panties and bra, jaehyun licking his lips in delight.
reaching his hand over, he gropes my tits which earned him a breathy moan of his name.
reaching his hands to the back, he swiftly unhooks my bra, letting it fall beneath me. he groans, admiring the way my tits were on full display. âso fucking beautiful,â he says, taking his mouth over one of my nipples.
he sucks on it, and eventually bites down on the bud. i bite my bottom lip, not wanting to yell out loud.
i look down at him, his eyes staring back at mine as he practically makes out with one of my tits. i could feel one of his hands slides down my back at a slow pace, leaving a burning trail behind.
âyou want me to touch you, baby?â he asks as he fondles your ass, sending a small slap across the flesh of skin. ây-yes,â you moan.
âtell me baby, where.â his voice so deep, his head coming up to peck my lips. i nearly melted, âyo-you know.â i take an unoccupied hand of his to my sex, making him palm it. âmy pussy needs you,â i whisper as i leaned into his ear.
jaehyunâs lips twitch up, kissing you hard one last time before he begins to go down on his knees. he places his hands to the waistband of your panties, dragging them down your legs. âopen up for me,â he says, and i begin opening my legs up. he drags his fingers to collect the slick that began dripping down my thigh.
kiss after kiss, bite after bite along my thighs. reaching a hand to his hair, i grip it. and when he finally reaches my cunt, i become a whimpering mess. his hands gripped my thighs, holding me in place as his tongue darted out.
a slow tantalizing lick, and then another. i jerk my hips forward, wanting more friction. i feel as jaehyun stops his licks. âdonât move, or else i wonât let you cum darling.â his warning was clear, i stayed still.
and so he continues, but instead of licks he sucks on my clit. along with using the tip of his tongue to tease the poor bud, before finishing off with a bite. âj-jaehyun!â i yelled when i felt his teeth on my clit.
letting go with a pop, i watch as he licks his lips before diving back in. his licks faster than when he first started, and before i knew it he brought his fingers into the mix. one of his fingers entering you, then two, both knuckle deep inside you. it wasnât until after he pecked your clit that he began thrusting them inside you.
in and out, out and in. your gummy walls clenching around his digits as they quickly thrusted into you. you feel the stretch of your walls as he opens them, like scissors. the constant chant of his name was such a melody to his ears, urging him to do more.
you felt yourself getting closer to your release as he continued his ministrations on your pussy. he mustâve felt the way you clenched around his fingers, âclose?â he asks. ây-yes, m-my cl-clit!â
jaehyun got the message as he attached his mouth onto your clit. with both his mouth and hands working themselves on you at the same time, it felt like you could cum at any moment. with one suck to your clit and his fingers plummeting in you, you gushed out. a stream of liquid coming out of you, splattering all over his arm. it wasnât the first time youâve squirted but nonetheless you still felt shy, hot all over.
jaehyun gets back up, watching you as you watched him lick your essence off his arm and hand. âso delicious, a delicacy that you are baby.â
you could almost cum again from those simple words. as you try regaining your breath jaehyun brings his lips to your ear. âon the bed, all fours,â he whispers. a shiver runs down your spine, his sex-dazed voice was one of your favorite things in the whole world.
without wasting another second you head towards his bedroom, onto his bed with hands and knees on the mattress. your ass up, on full display. slap. you jerk forward from the sudden movement.
and another one on the other cheek. you turn your head around, a naked jaehyun behind you in all his glory. his hard, thick cock reaching his stomach. you could see the glisten of his pre-cum. you feel his hardened member rub against your slit, both your essences blending with one another.
then he places a hand on your hips, while the other holds his cock so he could slide it into your aching hole. his cock slowly stretches you out, walls wrapping snuggly around it. you could hear jaehyunâs groans the deeper he goes in. when heâs all in, he kisses your exposed nape before going absolutely mad.
jaehyun was an absolute madman when it came to having sex. when he was balls deep inside you, he felt like heâd gone into another dimension; another world. you are quite literally the most perfect thing in this world, you were made for him.
your mouth falls into an âoâ shape when you feel his tip kissing your womb, tongue hanging out when he grabs some of your hair to pull you against his chest. you didnât know if it was even possible for his dick to reach you even deeper, but it mustâve because this angle allowed for him to reach places that have never been touched before.
it wasnât long before you ended up cumming on his cock, jaehyun following suit after a couple more thrusts. feeding your womb his seeds, which eventually dripped out of you as slides his cock out. you slump onto the mattress, too tired, body giving up.
on the other hand, there was something so hot about watching his cum drip out of your pussy. it turned him on, his cock beginning to harden again. his hands reached your body, turning you the other way so your back was against the mattress. you looked so fucked, he loved it.
âready for round two?â he says, not even waiting for your answer before he intrudes back into your hole. fucking his cum back into your pussy. his hands, finding yours as he interlocks his fingers with yours. your watery eyes, low chants of his name, the clenching of your walls and fingers, the way your mouth falls open, and your tongue lolling out. fuck. it was the perfect sight.
âgod, i love you,â jaehyun groans as he thrusted into you.
there was no stopping him now, he was going at an insane pace. the sounds of skin slapping, his balls on your ass, and the squelching sounds of you both echoed in the room.
letting go of one of the interlaced fingers, he brings his hand to your clit. the poor swollen bud victim to his ministrations again. he used his thumb to rub the bundle of nerves, you clench tighter around him. your own orgasm not too far away.
âk-kiss me!â you yelled. jaehyun wasted no time bringing his lips onto yours. it was sloppy but you didnât care, you loved the way it felt.
you moaned into the kiss, as you finally came for the third time tonight. taking his lips from your mouth, he puts them on an exposed section of your neck, sucking on it as he came.
filling you up for a second time tonight, you felt the warmth inside your womb. you wondered whether you could get pregnant after tonight. having his babies, becoming parents, getting marriedâ a dream.
both of you crash onto his bed, not bothering to clean up for now. both too tied, and unable to get up. he kisses your hair, whispering sweet nothings and lulls you to sleep. you and jaehyun peacefully sleeping in each otherâs arms for the night.
jaehyunâs pov.
fuck. what the fuck.
jaehyun jumps up from his bed. too shocked, unable to comprehend what just happened. he doesnât mutter anything, he just goes into his bathroom and turns on the shower.
stepping into the cold water, he faces the tile walls. his throbbing erection the least of his worries right now.
âwh-why⌠why did i have a dream about that night, the night before we-we-â he mutters, the water dripping down his body.
jaehyun didnât know why he dreamt about you, the steamy night that unfolded a week prior to the break-up.
yeah, heâd get off to past memories of you but never a full on dream. he didnât know what to do, to think, to say, to anything.
and he couldnât even being himself to sleep again, so he showered in the cold. itâs been 7 months, the pain still not gone. he misses you tremendously every single day.
he stares at the ring that still stayed on his finger, clenching his hand as he wants to punch the wall in front of him.
ây/nâŚâ
2 months later.
december 14. the day my little star was born.
she was born healthy, no complications. and luckily i was fine as well. it was excruciating pain but knowing she was close to being brought into this world made such pain disappear.
in fact, today we were scheduled to leave and i couldnât wait to just go home. my home wouldnât feel so empty anymore, the thought made me smile.
d/n (daughter name) was currently being breastfed, her eyes shut and wrapped like a burrito. she was the most beautiful baby, though she does look quite a lot like her daddy.
i sigh, throwing my head against the pillow. and before i could fully relax after various sleepless nights, there was a knock to my hospital door. the knock causing me to jerk my head towards the door.
âcome in,â i said loud enough so the person on the other side could hear, and low enough so it wouldnât frighten my baby as she was fast asleep.
i thought it was just some nurse coming in to check in before i left but it wasnât, far from it. my eyes widened. the person also stopping in their trace when they noticed me.
ây/nâŚâ the feminine voice speaks.
my mouth falls open, âm-ms.kim?!â
what was she doing here? why- wait⌠kim jungwoo, kim⌠oh my god. the pieces clicked together, she was the person jungwoo promised to call.
just last night jungwoo called me, apologizing over and over again for being unable to take me back home. i do remember him telling me that heâd find someone else, but⌠who knew itâd be his mother, ms.kim!
we both stayed frozen. neither speaking, you could probably even hear our breaths. however, the cries of a baby erupted into the room. the cries bringing us back to reality.
i look at d/n, swaying her gently in my arms. her wails didnât stop though. âc-can i?â ms.kim asks. i look up, nodding my head, handing her my daughter. it was almost intriguing how fast d/n calmed down, falling back asleep in ms.kimâs arms. she takes a closer look at the baby in her arms, âsheâs adorable, such chubby cheeks.â
i admire the scene in front of me, when was the last time i saw her? i thought. does she still work for them? countless questions wondered in my head until she spoke again. âshe looks just like him,â she says softly. i almost froze, eyes widening. i never told her who the father was, but then again my baby does look a lot like her dad. then considering ms.kim had been with the jeongâs since he was born, she mustâve seen how he looked as a baby.
âd-does she,â i say at a loss. she nods, âiâve been with them since he was still in the womb, and watched him grow, so i can guarantee you theyâre daughter and father.â when i didnât speak she spoke again, âi probably shouldnât be bringing him up⌠i- mr.jeong told me. he explained to me what happened when i asked why you werenât coming over anymore, and well⌠iâm sorry.â
wait⌠why- why is she apologizing. i stopped her immediately, ân-no, you-you have nothing to do with what happened, why are you apologizing?!â
âi raised him after,â she answered. i shook my head, âno, please donât apologize. you and mr.jeong played no part in what unraveled between me and him, nor do or will i blame either of you.â
she faintly smiles, âyouâre too kind, y/n. in all honesty, i thought i would never see you again but yet here you are, you even befriended my son.â i giggled a little at the thought of jungwoo, âhe sure is something else, but iâll be eternally grateful to him.â
we continued our conversation for a while longer before a nurse came in to give me the okay to leave today. i did and completed the necessary things so i could go home, ms.kim helped me. and after a couple hours we were finally out of the hospital with d/n in the car seat ms.kim brought along. she said jungwoo got it for me, as a congrats-on-giving-birth gift.
ms.kim drove, while i stayed in the back with d/n, arriving at my home a while later. we spent the rest of the evening there, ms.kim preparing dinner. whilst she was doing that, jungwoo got off work and came over. he was overly excited to see d/n, shunning me and his own mother out.
when the food was ready, i put a sleeping d/n in the crib i placed in the living room. then i headed back to the dining table, sitting down and for the first time enjoying a homely meal. it was so good, i started crying. when was the last time i felt at peace? when i felt complete? jungwoo nor ms.kim said anything, letting me have a moment.
my home was finally warm and cozy, my new life begun today. my little light radiating throughout my- our home.
4 months later.
i sighed, pushing the stroller of my 4 month-old child along the park. the cold winter weather was gone, and the flowers were in full bloom again. we came for a stroll at our local park, i was in need of a refresher.
itâs been a month since i began working again, and things were going great until a couple days ago when i was informed of a new task. the olâ mighty task being⌠interviewing⌠jeong jaehyun. with the rise of n corps, my company was in desperation to get an interview with him. and if matters couldnât get any worse, our main interviewer broke their leg a couple days ago, so they decided to assign me with the job. well, they gave me until the end of the week to decide whether i was up for it but⌠come on, me?!
no way, there was no way i was going to-
ây/n?â a voice shouts. the voice sounding familiar, i turn around without any second thoughts. though now i wished i hadnât turned around at all, that i had simply ignored the call of my name.
i froze. âj-jaehyun,â i said in a voice that was only loud enough for him to hear. what was he doing here⌠he shouldnât be here⌠no⌠no wh- âit really is youâŚâ he says, interrupting my thoughts. he walks closer, my eyes beginning to blur. âbaby,â he says gently. my stomach churns, in a bad way at the use of the word.
âd-donât ca-call me t-that!â i say, my voice distorted. i was probably trembling as he walked closer. he stopped in his tracks when the cries of a baby erupted.
shit.
he stops, his eyes focusing from me to the strolling behind me. i instinctively blocked her, hiding her from his view even though it was too late now.
it seems it didn't take long for jaehyun to connect two-and-two together. âi-is that my- our child,â he says in an astonished tone. at least he wasnât such an idiot, iâll give him that.
i shook my head, âno, youâre wrong. sheâs mine, she doesnât need you.â i wasnât going to deny that he was the dad but that didnât mean iâd consider him as her father.
jaehyun drops to his knees in front of me. his sobs getting louder as he cried. my heart ached at the sight, but then remembered why we were even here in the first place. i turn back, my grip tightening around the strollerâs handles.
i begin walking away, stopping briefly. âyou shouldâve moved on the day i left the hotel. we are strangers jaehyun, remember that.â he looks up, tears staining his face. i noticed a shine from his finger, it came from the ring around his left hand. i immediately identified it as the ring i had gotten him for his birthday.Â
âw-will i truly never see you again, see her again,â he says, trying to regain his composure. i donât reply back, leaving him in that park.
on the walk home i made up my mind⌠i was going through with the interview.
â§ËÂ°Ę â ÉâĄ
i was sat, waiting for jaehyun to arrive. our meeting location was chosen to be at a restaurant, where we were designated with our own room for privacy reasons. honestly, i could care less about the interview. 3 days had passed since our reunion, and i felt that there was still much left to be discussed, so what better way than to talk about it here.
the door slid open, jaehyun stiffened. his mouth falling open, âw-what-â i interrupted him before he could continue. âsurprise,â i sarcastically said. he looked out to check if he was in the right room, only to be reassured he was. jaehyun sits down, his head down, not daring to look up. i could tell he was keeping his guard up around me.
i softly sighed, âthe person who was set to interview you, broke their leg so they put me as their replacement.â i felt it was only right to explain the situation since iâm sure he was wondering what i was doing here.
when he stayed quiet i continued, âand for the record i accepted it only because i felt that we needed to have a deep talk about everything. letâs put aside the interview for now jaehyun.â
he finally looked up, his eyes meeting mine. âw-where is she?â he asks, stumbling on his words. âshe? oh! d/n is with ms.kim. you probably donât know but ms.kim offered to look after her while i worked,â i explained. it was the truth, ms.kim, since the time i began working again took care of d/n. she argued sheâd find a way around working with mr.jeong and babysitting.
however it seems jaehyun was oblivious to this. âm-ms.kim,â he whispers, in which i respond with a nod. âthatâs where sheâd gone,â he continued. âwhat do you mean?â i asked.
âwell, my father briefly explained that sheâd gotten a job somewhere else so she wouldnât be able to work from certain hours,â he answered. so thatâs what she told them, i thought. âmmm, speaking of your father⌠how is he?â
âi guess heâs alright. the old man and me arenât doing so well, so itâs hard to sayâŚâ he says, stopping briefly to take a sip of his water that was placed there by the waiter before he even arrived. âever since you left, he got pretty upset with me. he forced me into the family company, didnât even wanna consider me his son. i mean it didnât matter to me, i deserved it after all.â
i stayed quiet, not knowing what to say at his revelation. âs-so, tell me about her. please, y/n,â jaehyun pleads. i give it some thought before sighing.
âher name is d/l/n. she was born on december 14th. i found out i was pregnant around a month after that day. she was all i had left so i decided to keep her. and god was that the best decision iâve ever made. yeah, those 9 months were sometimes hell, but i managed. i was scared of being a single mother, but hey look at where i am today,â i explained. his features softened as i continued explaining my past year.
and when i finished he asked, âwonât you let me see her?â i ponder, âi wish, i want to⌠but, i-iâm not sure if i can trust you yet jaehyun.â âand why is that?â he asks. âb-because of what you did. you broke me completely, crushed up all faith and trust i had for you.â
ât-then give me a second chance,â jaehyun declares. you look at him astonished at his declaration. âw-what do you mean?â
âgive me a second chance to prove to you and d/n i can be trusted. iâll make up for lost time, iâll love her triple, no infinitely more. please, just please⌠we donât even have to go into it thinking we might get together, i-i just want to see my baby girl.â
his voice was getting weaker, practically pleading with me. a second chance, huh. i took my time to think about it, would letting him into out lives be the right choice? i was gambling here, but nonetheless i made my decision.
âf-fine. you better prove yourself worth forgiving, jeong jaehyun.â his face almost lit up, âth-thank you! i most definitely will, iâll prove to you both. i wonât make the same foolish mistakes. iâll love d/n, iâll love you,â he says. iâll love you. the phrase brought something out of me, touched my heart per say.Â
and so after an overdue talk, we cleared up our misunderstandings. we agreed on co-parenting, among other things. the interview then proceeded as planned, and once that was out the way he drove me home. i offered to invite him in, in which he gladly accepted.
ms.kim was shocked to see him show up, confused even but i briefly told her iâd explain it later. d/n was awake, and when i introduced her to jaehyun it was like the most sentimental scene. he cried, heck i probably did too. even more shockingly, d/n warmed up to jaehyun faster than i expected.
it felt like weâd finally become a family, like we could finally live happily ever after. and although i knew the journey was far from being over, i was willing to test the waters. if in the near future jaehyun and i ever get together then we get together, and if we donât then we donât.
whatever the future had in store for us, weâd face it once it came. but until then this new life that has bloomed for us like the flowers, will be lived with one another by each other's side.
âyouâre my dandelion.â

âFuck!â you groan, examining the plastic bag in your hands.
âWhat? Whatâs wrong?â You chew on on your bottom lip, setting the bag on your thighs where you kneeled on the floor. You pick up your phone, flipping the camera so your friend could see on Facetime.
âThey sent me the wrong one.â
Nothing destresses you quite as much as online shopping, and with your finals finished a few days ago, youâd gone crazy on the internet â fitting as much as your cart would allow it. The stack of boxes in your room began to pile as the orders came in one by one, and once they all did, you treated yourself to your own version of Christmas.
âWhich one did you get originally?â your friend, Andrea, asks. Youâve been giving her an unboxing of everything youâd bought for yourself, opening packages on your bedroom floor with your speaker blasting Drake in the back.
âI ordered this in green, they gave it to me in black.âÂ
âOh. Well, at least itâs the same dress right?â Andrea takes a bite out of the donut sheâs eating. âI still think it looks nice.â âYeah, me too. But I already have, like, 3 other black dresses,â you sigh.
âI think you should still try it on.â âYou think?â âYeah, why not? Itâs just in a different color anyway.â Andreaâs right. Youâre not really in the mood to go through the hassle of online returns and back-and-forth conversations with the seller.Â
You leave your phone on your bedroom floor to get changed off-camera, standing in front of your mirror. The dress feels promising as you pull it out of the bag â itâs strapless, jet black in color with a few cutouts on the side joined by metal rings, exposing your sides. It feels smooth as you slide it on, the stretchy material hugging your curves and the hem stopping on your mid thighs.
âSoâŚâ You pick up your phone, showing the dress off to Andrea. âHow does it look?â
Andrea gasps in awe, making you giggle at her reaction. âOh my god, I think Iâm liking this one the most so far,â she raves, and you look to the pile of the other dresses youâd bought on your floor.
You adjust the dress, smoothing it out, pulling the hem lower. The dress is gorgeous, hugging you in all the right places. You check yourself out in the mirror, feeling more confident the longer you have it on.
âThis is so nice, actually. Who even cares about the color anymore, Iâm obsessed,â you gush.
âMhm. And you can wear it with that purse you bought, and with the gold jewelry as well,â Andrea suggests, and you hum in agreement. As sheâs talking, you reach for your water bottle on your nightstand, disappointed when you realize itâs empty. âHey, Iâm gonna fill up my water, give me a sec,â you state, muting yourself and tossing your phone on your bed.
You waltz in the kitchen, bringing your speaker with you, taking advantage of the fact that youâre home alone. You incoherently hum along to SZA, waiting for your bottle to be filled â and a loud noise erupts from behind where you stood.
âBOO!âÂ
You shriek, body jolting forward, causing some of the water to spill on your dress and your speaker to almost fall loose from your grip.
âWhat the fuâ Oh my god, J.â Youâre met with familiar brown eyes as you turned around, seeing Jamal with his hands flat on the kitchen island where heâd slammed them. He giggles at your annoyance.Â
To most, Jamal is Bayernâs starboy, a young player dazzling in the world of football. To you, heâs your brotherâs best friend, and someone who shows up unannounced to your house a lot. Your older brother Noah works in the industry as an agent, and the two of them met many years ago as teenagers. Now, theyâre close as ever â so close, that Noah trusts him enough to give him a spare keycard to your shared apartment.
You met Jamal not long after they hit it off, and you can safely say youâve also become friends with him now.
Just friends. Thatâs all youâll ever be.
Like Noah has stressed multiple times before.
You grab a towel, dabbing the wet spot on your dress. âWhat do you want, J?â
âIs Noah home?â âNo. He went to the gym,â you respond, groaning, making sure your dissatisfaction is heard loud and clear. Once you do, you turn off the obnoxiously loud speaker that prevented you from hearing his entrance.Â
âWithout me?â
âYeah, he needed the time alone, clearly,â you snap back, circling around the kitchen island to face him. As you do, Jamalâs eyes trail down your body, your dress now revealed, his face twisting in a mix of confusion and awe.Â
âBit early for a night out, no?â He says, clearly referencing to your dress. Heâd be right, itâs only the early evening.
You look down at your dress before meeting his eyes again, seeing him shift uncomfortably. âWho said this was for a night out?â
He cocks his head to the side. âItâs not?â
The devil on your shoulder is telling you to get back at him for almost ruining your dress and breaking your speaker. If he can show up unannounced, why canât you lie and pull a few strings? âNo⌠itâs for a date.â
You lie straight through your teeth, making up a story as you go. Jamalâs jaw falls slack, like heâs about to say something, but then it closes before he does.
âA⌠date?â He heard you the first time. He just wants to know if youâre being serious.
And you keep pretending that you are. âYeah, a date. Whyâs that so shocking?â You fold your arms, leaning against the kitchen island.
Jamal pauses. âWith who?â While youâre biting the inside of your cheek to prevent yourself from laughing, heâs having none of it. His eyebrows are furrowed, his jaw tense as he questions you.
âWith this guy from uni. Heâs just so sweet,â you sigh dreamily for dramatic effect, dragging the gimmick as long as you could. âWeâve been talking for a while and now he wants to get serious.â âSerious?âÂ
â...Yeah. I really think we could be a thing.â Your face falters at Jamalâs deadpan response. Youâre only joking with him, but even if you werenât, why is the mention of a date getting him like this?
You succesfully pulled his stringsâ but you donât know if you should be happy or not. Jamal looks at you, almost in offense, and you can practically see the steam coming off of his ears. Youâve known him for a while, and yet this is the first youâve seen of him like this.
âTell Noah Iâm not hanging out today.â Jamal storms out the kitchen, your mouth falling agape at his reaction. You trail behind him, worried that you took it too far.
âWhat? No, Jamal waitââ He doesnât spare a single glance as he marches out the door, slamming it in your face, sending the hinges rattling. Youâre frozen in your spot, unable to move or even process what just happened for a few moments before youâre dragging yourself back to your room, still slightly shaken.
You grab your phone and unmute yourself, still seeing Andrea on the line.
âHey.âÂ
âHey, what took you so long?â She notices the startled look in your eyes, sitting up in her bed.
âSorry. Jamal ⌠came over earlier. It was weird,â you say, slumping against your headboard.
âWeird? Isnât he your friend? Or a friend of your brother?â
âYeah, but⌠well, Iââ you exhale, taking the time to string your words properly. âI was joking around, but then he got really upset and stormed out,â you explain.
âWhat the hell?â âI know. Iâve never seen him that pissed off. Not because of me at least.â
âThatâs so weird. All over a joke?â âYeah.â âWhat a prick,â Andrea sneers.
âNo, donât say that.â Youâre not sure why, but you donât really want to tell Andrea that the joke in question involved you lying about going on a date. âHey, I gotta go. Bye.âÂ
You abruptly end the call carelessly tossing your phone aside. Now that youâre alone, you stare at the ceiling, finally having the time to process the interaction. The mood has shifted now. An inkling creeps into your thoughts as to why Jamal got so defensive, but you shrug it off, terrified of its consequences, terrified it would manifest.
âItâs probably nothing,â you mumble to yourself. But is it? Youâre tossing and turning in bed because something is telling you that itâs not just nothing, and you have to find out for yourself.
You have to talk to Jamal.
âYouâre up early.â
Stopping in your tracks, you turn around to see Noah splayed on the living room couch, working on his laptop.
You take a sip from your mug, setting it down on the coffee table before replying. âAnd youâre home for once.â
Noah gets exceptionally busy during the transfer window. Youâve been getting used to spending weeks home alone, or only catching him in the early mornings or coming in late at night, but almost never when the sun was out. Part of you thinks itâs not just work thatâs been holding up, though.
âYou know how busy I get in January,â Noah says. He squints as he watches you sit adjacent to him, putting on your socks and shoes. âAnd where are you headed?â
You pause. âJust going on a walk.â
Noah doesnât need to know that the walk in question is en route to Jamalâs house.
Last night, you went to bed uneasy, hoping you could sleep it off. You woke up this morning and nothing had changed, and thatâs when you decided you had to talk to Jamal immediately or youâd explode by midday. Noah being home wasnât part of your plans.
Heâs always been a little protective, as all older brothers are to their sisters. You vividly recall when you first met Jamal at one of his infamous house partiesâ alone in the kitchen, getting drinks for your friends when he strolled in, starting a conversation. It was an instant connection, with you finding yourself taking your sweet time just to keep talking to him.
Of course, Noah barged in at one point, throwing his arm around you and escorting you out of the kitchen himself, not before interrogating you on your conversation with Jamal.
Although heâs loosened up since, you know Noah would start getting skeptical if you told him you were headed to Jamalâs place first thing in the morning. But what Noah doesnât know wonât hurt him.
âRight, bye.â Just as you stand up to leave, Noah interrupts.
âWait! Can you get some sandwiches from the cafĂŠ when you come back? Thanks!âÂ
âAs long as you pay me back!â you chime, already halfway out the door.
The walk to Jamalâs place is a rare but not unfamiliar one. You live not too far away, and there have been countless times where you had to pick Noah up after a night out, so you knew the way well. You couldâve taken your car, but you decided you need the extra time for yourself, deciding on a walk.
Youâre not really sure what youâre getting out of this. Your mind fluctuates between feeling like this is the right thing to do and the urge to turn back and buy those sandwiches Noah was talking about earlier.
But you never do, and now youâre standing in front of his doorway.
Unlike with your house, Jamalâs never given you a spare set of keys so you can waltz into his at any given moment. You take a deep breath before ringing the doorbell, your heart beating out of your chest as you do.
Silence. You ring the doorbell a few more times, hearing the soft pattering of footsteps behind the door.Â
You fix your hair and adjust your clothes, awaiting Jamalâs arrival.Â
Instead, youâre met with the sight of a woman when the door swings open.
A half-naked woman.
She looks slightly older than you, dressed in only a sports bra and sweats, her hair tussled like she just woke up. Youâre both looking at each other up and down, confused. This is the first you two have seen of each other.
âCan I help you?â Sheâs the first to break the silence. You reluctantly meet her gaze. Thereâs a weird territorial atmosphere lingering between you two, like the person standing before you shouldnât be here.
âUh, Iâm looking for Jamal,â you say, your voice coming out a lot shakier than you anticipated. A pit continues to grow in your stomach. You probably should have turned back home when you had the chance.
âOh, heâs in the shower.â
Your heart drops. Youâre not an idiot, and youâre no childâ you can put two and two together. Neither is Jamal, and you know he probably hooks up with someone whenever he gets the chance. But why does that bother you so much? And why are you only feeling this way now?
Youâre lost in your thoughts, and the woman waves a hand in front of your face, trying to pull you back to reality.. âDid you need anything? Heâll probably take a while.â
You shake your head, already getting ready to take off. âJust tell him I was joking yesterday.â
âHuh?â Turning around on your heels, you leave the woman hanging, walking away from the door. Whatever you were expecting to happen when you got to Jamalâs place, it surely isnât this.
You glare straight ahead, not caring for whoever you bumped into. All you knew was just in that moment, you had to get as far away as possible from Jamalâs house. And so you did, marching as far as your legs would take you, until beads of sweat ran down your temples and your breathing turned heavy.
Maybe Noah was right in trying to put some distance between you two.
Meanwhile, Jamal dries himself off with a towel as he leaves his bathroom. He walks into the kitchen to grab some breakfast, passing by his front door, seeing the girl he picked up last night standing by.
She hears his footsteps as he comes down the stairs, turning to face him. âMorning, baby,â she coos, putting on the best lovey-dovey voice she could muster.
Jamal winces at the remark. âIâll get you a taxi after you shower,â he replies, walking right past her and into the kitchen. The girl rolls her eyes, groaning silently. She doesnât know why she keeps trying to get closer to him when all theyâre doing this for is sex.
âSome girl came over while you were in the shower, by the way,â she brazenly states, hoping to get his attention for once.Â
âWho?â âLike I know. She just came by and asked if you were here, and then told me to tell you that she was just joking yesterday?â
It works. Jamal stops dead in his tracks. âAnd what did she look like?â The girl starts describing how you looked from the short appearance you made earlier. The more she speaks, she sees the gears turning in Jamalâs head as he puts two and two together, ultimately realizing that you had gone all the way to his house just to talk to him.
He looks at the girl before him. She came all the way to his house, probably to apologize, just to be met with one of his random hookups who he barely even spoke to outside his bedroom.
Jamalâs eyes widen in realization at how horribly heâd fucked up, abandoning his breakfast and rushing back up the stairs.
âWhere are you going? Who is she?â The girl asks, waving her hand to get his attention, though all her calls are ignored as he shoves his way into his room to go looking for his phone, unplugging it from where it was charging on his nightstand.
His fingers rapidly dart across the screen as he types out a message, a desperate attempt at reaching you before it was too late.
[07:42] jamal: did you come over earlier? [07:43] jamal: i promise itâs not what it looks like [07:43] jamal: we can talk if you want to [07:43] jamal: just the two of us
Your phone buzzes four seperate times as you stand in line at the cafĂŠ down the street from your apartment building. Sometime during your walk, Noah had transferred some money into your account for both breakfast and you figured you needed the distraction.
It didnât last long as you pulled your phone from your pocket, seeing the notifications from Jamal poured in. You shut your eyes, collecting your emotions before you shoved it back in, fixing your hair in frustration.
Out of sight, out of mind. Jamal got his chance when you were at his doorstep, willing, and he you werenât about to give him a second. The fact that he thinks you would sets something off in you.
He watches as his texts stay on delivered. Deep down, he knows you read them through your lockscreen, and now you were choosing to deliberately ignore him. He stares at the screen in defeat, before another text comes in.
[08:01] noah: youâre coming over tomorrow night yeah?
The party. Noah had invited him and some other players to hang out before the season started, a tradition thatâs persisted in the friend group for years. Itâs hosted at his place this time around, a golden oppportunity.
Jamal has to talk to you.
For the first time in his life, Jamal regrets going to a party.
Heâs used to having a blast, used to being the man in any room he walks into, instantly greeted by faces both familiar and unfamiliar, desperate to show him aroundâ desperate to be seen with him.
Now, he throws his head back agains the wall of Noahâs living room, drink in hand, asking himself why he even left the house today.
Jamal arrived extra early to his friendâs place, hoping to catch you in a moment alone before it got busy. To his dismay, Noah informed him that youâd been out since the morning. Then he had to help him clean. A total nightmare.
Heâs not so sure if you knew he was coming today, or just so happened to not be at home. Whatever the reasoning, heâd rather not have turned up altogether had you not been here.
While heâs drinking away his sorrows, youâre pushing him out of your mind as you spent the day with your friends. Shopping, going to the spa, more shopping, bar hoppingâ it was a perfect day.
Your smile quickly faded when you came home and was greeted with a crowd of men in your living room.
âHey! Youâre home,â Noah greets, pulling you into a hug. He gives you a look of guilt as he sees your eyes squint in confusion, knowing he didnât tell you he was inviting people over.
âI know, Iâm sorry, Iâm sorry. But I figured youâd be out the whole day!â he reasons.Â
âYouâre so fucking annoying, I hope you know that,â you sneer, and Noah canât fight back. You scan the crowd, seeing a few familiar faces. If it wasnât for them, you would have cussed him out right then and there.
He knows youâre tired from going out all day, he knows you just want to rest. âOkay, listen, this isnât anything crazy, weâre just gonna drink and talk, no loud music or inviting more people. Itâs just my friends.â
Friends. You scan the crowd once more. If Noah ever mentions anything about friends, one person is almost always involved.
Jamal. You lock eyes with him, heâs been staring at you from across the room since you walked in the door. Thereâs a mix of anger, frustration and yearning brewing in your chest. You want to shove him down a flight of stairs. You also want to run into his arms. Itâs complicated.
Noah shoves a can of beer in your hands, and you finally look away from Jamal. âHere, take this. Loosen up,â he says before leaving. You sip away your unwanted emotions and wince like it stings going down.Â
Knowing Jamal is here and with the intention of talking to you sparks an idea in your brain, washing a boost of confidence over your body. He canât look away from you and you know it, and you had to take this chance in sending him a message.
Your message comes in the form of a youngster sitting on the living room couch.
âMathys!â You approach him, arms wide to pull him in for a hug that seems a little too friendly in Jamalâs eyes. He grips his glass harder.
âHey! When did you come in?â he asks, and you sit next to him, grazing your thigh against his. You take a big swig from the can, needing the extra tenacity.
âNot too long ago.â You start talking to Mathys about your day, striking up a normal conversation. Out of the corner of your eye, you catch glimpses of Jamal glancing at you from time to time. Itâs not enough. You want him to feel the way you did when you showed up on his doorstep the other day.
Mathys was happily recounting his encounter with some rapper heâd crossed paths with when you put your hand on his leg, rubbing his thigh up and down. You leaned in to his ear, covering your mouth to avoid Jamal from reading your lips. He jumps slightly at the motion, youâre never this close to him.
âCan I tell you something?â He nods, scared but intrigued.
âIâm trying to piss Jamal off. Will you help me?â Similarly to Jamal, you and Mathys have always been close friends. Heâs younger than you, so youâve always viewed him like a little brother more than anything, but thatâs not to say you donât appreciate his company. You knew he would definitely be down to help you tonight.
Mathys pulls away, searching deep in your eyes for certainty. He discovers youâre serious.
A smirk plays on his face as he nods slowly to himself. Heâs not stupid, he quickly pieces things together. If heâs being honest, heâs always known something was going on between you and Jamal anyway. âAlright, alright. Deal.â âDeal, yeah? If anything I do gets too far, just tell me,â you assure.
âOh, donât worry, itâll be worth it in the end. Do what you must,â he says, winking.
It didnât take long for the ball to start rolling. It starts off innocent â you laugh just a little too loud at one of his jokes, planting your palm on his chest as you do, playing with your hair. The small gesture has Jamal shifting uncomfortably where he stood.
It wasnât enough.
You pull out your phone, asking Mathys if he wants a picture. He extends one arm behind you on the couch, leaning into you. Wrapping his shoulders with your free arm, you pushed your heads together, scooting closer to him, to the point where your legs were folded over his thighs. Jamal knows what youâre doing now, and itâs driving him to insanity. Yet, he stands there, unmoving.
It wasnât enough.
The final straw came from Mathys. You tipped your drink as far back as you could, trying to get the last few sips from the can. A few stray drops landed on the corner of your mouth instead, dribbling down your chin as you raised your hand below it to make it stop.Â
He reaches over to catch the beer with his thumb, cupping your face, gently swiping your lips.
Jamal storms out of the living room.
Mathys takes his hand off of you immediately afterwards, and you two share a laugh, feeling achieved. Well, heâs really pissed now,â he remarks.
âGood.â
He glances at you in curiousity at your deadpan, sly response. He had fun doing this whole tidbit with you, but he doesnât even know why youâre doing it in the first place. âWhatâd he even do to you for you to do this?â
âLong story,â you say it in a way that lets him know youâre not going to go into further detail. You stand up from the couch, bag in hand. âIâll be in my room. Thanks Mathys, that was fun.â He winks at you, clicking his tongue in response.
You made the walk to you room with your head held high in victory. The message you were delivering was definitely heard by Jamal, loud and clear. Heâs not the only one that gets to mess around with whoever he wants.Â
You kick your heels off, throwing your bag on the floor and plopping down on the bed, scrolling on your phone. Tossing and turning, you ended up curled with your back facing the door, and thatâs when it barges open.
âHey.â You turn around, itâs Noah. You go back to scrolling on your phone.
âWhat do you want?â âIâm not gonna be at home tonight, yeah? Most of the guys already left anyway. Just wanted to let you know,â he says, rambling. âItâs just, work stuffâŚâ You roll your eyes. Noahâs always been bad at keeping secrets, especially when it involves girls.
âYes Noah, Iâll be fine alone while you go spend the night with that girl you met in Berlin. We all know you like her.â You donât even have to look at Noah to know his mouth had fallen slack, the words being ripped from his throat.
âMan. That bad, huh?â Noah chuckles. âAlright, Iâm leaving. Bye,â he says, shutting the door behind him.
A few minutes pass as you lied there unmoving. still scrolling through your feed when the door opens a second time. You hear the hinge creak open and the click of the knob as the person enters your room without saying a word.
You sit up straight, looking behind you. âMathys? Is that yââ Itâs Jamal. Daggers shoot from his eyes, watching you roll your eyes and go back to using your phone.
âWhat do you want, Jamal?â you groan. The fact that youâre not calling him by his usual nickname, not bothering to even spare a glance has his face contorting.
âSince when have you and Mathys been that close?â His voice is deep, interrogative, and youâd be lying if you said you didnât tense up at his tone, chills arising through your body.
You build up the courage to face him properly, sitting on the edge of your bed. âWhy should I tell you about the people Iâm hanging out with?â
âHanging out?â he spits in disbelief, vitriol laced in his words.
âYeah! Hanging out, Jamal, whatâs so wrong about that? Huh?â you exclaim. You canât believe the sheer hypocrisy in his words. âYouâre one to judge, at least I was only talking to Mathys anyway.â âHe had his hand around your neck and he was just gawking at your body the whole time, donât act stupid!â he snaps back, raising his hands and dropping them to his sides.
You jump onto your feet. âAt least I donât go around fucking other girls as soon as one of them stops giving me attention!â Jamalâs eyes widen, offended. You both know what you were referring to.
âYou told me you were going on a date with someone! You said he was the one â how the fuck was I supposed to know you were joking?!â He takes a few steps closer.
You struggle to find the right response, your mouth periodically opening and closing. Heâs got a point. You hate that he does. âYou didnât even give me the chance to explain myself! You just stormed out of the house!â
âYeah, of course! After hearing you say that, of course I did!â âWhy?!â you ask, watching his eyes go wide, his mouth shut, unable (or maybe not wanting) to respond. âTell me why.â Now itâs you who takes a step closer, and Jamalâs at arms length, causing you to look up at him as you speak.
He says nothing back.Â
You scoff, shaking your head in disbelief.
âThatâs what I thought,â you mumble. You move past him, lightly bumping your shoulders together as you do to convey your anger. You need to get a drink from the kitchen, and hopefully by the time you come back, Jamal will be gone.
Just as your fingers graze the doorknob, a strong grip gets a hold of your arm. It all happened so fast. One second you were facing the door, the next â your back hit the wall, and Jamalâs lips were on yours.
The kiss was hungry, one of Jamalâs hands on the back of your head, tilting it to kiss you deeper, the other on your waist. Your arms naturally wrapped around his neck, scratching the back of his head, pulling him closer.
One of Jamalâs knees slipped between your legs, rubbing against your crotch. A breathy moan escaped your lips, allowing him to slip his tongue into your mouth, meeting yours. It was a messy, desperate kiss â a clash of teeth and tongue, Jamal making up with his lips what he canât with his voice.
Jamal runs his hands up and down your dress. Your dress â itâs the same one you wore a few days ago, when you first got into the argument. Itâs driving him crazy and you know it, itâs evident in the way he trails his mouth lower to your neck and down to your exposed cleavage.
âJl,â you whine, teetering on a plea. He presses his forehead against yours, watching your eyes trained on him, your lipstick smeared and loose strands flying from your hair. He donât think heâs ever seen anything more beautiful.
âThis dress looks so good on you.â Itâs all he can say before heâs kissing you again, a lot softer this time around.
âMhm. Wore it just for you,â you breathe in between kisses. âNow take it off, please.â Your voice, your words, they rush straight to his cock.Â
âJump,â he instructs, and you do. Jamal walks over to your bed, plopping you on the soft pillows, his lips moulding against yours the whole time. He presses kisses lower on your neck, sucking, biting, being sure to leave a trail of purple marks for to blossom tomorrow morning.
Jamal takes the cut of your dress in his hands, pulling the fabric down, groaning at the sight of you without a bra. He wastes no time in swirling his tongue around your sensitive bud, causing you to throw your head back, wrapping your legs around his waist. He sucks and pulls with his teeth, moulding the other with his hands before switching, grinding down on your clothed core.
Once heâs satisified, he takes one last look at your tits â now glossy with his spit and marked purple, before climbing lower down your body. He bunches the material of your dress up your waist, exposing your panties to him.
Jamal takes hold of your legs, pressing a kiss to your crotch, smirking when your back arches, whining at the contact.Â
âFuck, donât tease, please.â Your hand pushes his head closer to where youâre dripping, where you want him the most.
Jamal chuckles at your desperation, hooking his fingers in the waistband of your panties, pulling them down and tossing them carelessly aside. He spreads your lips, cursing under his breath when he sees the string of wetness thatâs accumulated.
âYouâre soaked,â he says, planting delicate kisses to the inside of your thighs, intently watching how you jolt at each one.
âJamal, please.â He loves it when you beg.Â
âShh, I know, baby.â And he finally licks one long strip up your pussy, relishing in the way a moan is punched from your lips. Youâre lucky your brother is out for the night, because heâs certain it can be heard through the walls.
He plants a few more kisses before spreading your lips, delving his tongue in your hole. Your thighs clamp shut around his head, but his strength pries them open. He alternates between fucking you with his tongue and sucking your clit, swirling figure-eights on it.
Youâre a writhing mess, your throat dry from moaning and calling his name over and over. Jamal never wants to stop hearing the pretty noises you make.
He continues to push his tongue in your cunt, using his thumb to circle your clit, doubling the pleasure. He explores your walls, finding the spongy spot that punches a particularly loud moan from your throat.
âFuck! Donâtâahâdonât stop,â you beg, and Jamal is happy to oblige. He moans into your pussy, the vibrations rushing through your body. He feels you get wetter by the second, your juices coating his mouth and running down the sheets.
Your breathing is short and erratic, your fingers tugging at his hair as your orgasm washes over you, cumming all over Jamalâs mouth. He licks the slick running down your inner thighs, pressing some final few kisses to your clit before hovering over you, meeting your eyes.
The sight of Jamal above you is nothing short of glorious â his chin glossy from your juices, his eyes blown out and his lips plump and swollen. He can say the same for you below him, once snappy and sarcastic now panting and ruined.
You cup his cheek, adorlingly gazing into his eyes before tasting yourself on his tongue. He takes your wrists, one by one, pinning them above your head with one hand.
âNeed to make sure you can take me, baby,â he coos. âIs that okay?â You nod rapidly. Youâd say yes to anything if he asked.
Jamal chuckles, his free hand trailing lower down your body and finding your clit. Youâre still sensitive from your last orgasm, bucking up into his hand when he does.
âJâoh.â He slips a finger into your cunt, watching the way your eyes roll to the back of your head and your jaw falls agape as you do. He pumps slowly at first, feeling your pinned hands try to escape his grip, but he pushes them down harder.
After a few moments, he slips another one in, filling you with two digits. âShit,â you whine, closing your eyes shut.
âYou can take it, yeah?â he asks.Â
âMhm, I can take more, a lot more.â Jamal feels his cock throb in his pants, desperate to be freed. He picks up the pace, and you squirm beneath him, taking your bottom lip in your teeth.
Jamal pushes deeper, curling his fingers inside your walls. Every time he fucks into you, his palm rubs against your clit, only adding to the pleasure. Once he finds your sweet spot, he relentlessly goes faster, chasing your second orgasm.
âOh my god, fuck,â you blabber, unable to focus on anything else than the feeling of Jamalâs fingers.
âHey, look at me,â he instructs, and eyes shoot open on instinct, seeing his brown eyes bore into yours.
âWant to see how you look when you cum.âÂ
You struggle in keeping your eyes open but do so to the best of your ability, your chest heaving up and down as your moans get more sporadic. Jamal is lost in your eyes, his wrist starting to tire from his movements. After one rough push of his hands, shockwaves rippling through your body as your second orgasm washes over you.
Slick runs down your thighs, onto the bedsheets and on Jamalâs wrist. He pulls out, causing you to whimper at the loss of contact before he licks them clean, tasting every last drop. Jamal sits up on his heels and you follow suit, kneeling in front of him. You grab the hem of his shirt, quickly pushing it up and over his head, exposing his torso. Youâre entranced by his physique, trailing your nails down his chest and abs. His hand cups your cheek, pulling you into a kiss.
âFuck me, J,â you plead in between kisses, and how could he say no?
âGet on all fours.â You flip over, arching your back, hanging your ass in the air for him. You hear the clink of his belt as he pulls down his trousers, watching from over your shoulder.
âI told you to take my dress off,â you remind him, lightening the mood a bit. You have to stifle back a moan as he spreads your ass, pulling you flush against the shape of his bulge, lowly moaning when he does.Â
Jamal pauses for a moment. âNah.â He pulls his boxers down, taking his cock in his hands, hard and throbbing, jerking himself off before aligning the tip with your pussy.
âWanna fuck you in it.âÂ
He slides his cock up and down your slit before pushing into you in one long stroke. A long moan is drawn from your throat as your head drops, feeling him slowly stretch you out, stopping until his pelvis was flush with your ass.Â
It takes a few moments for you to adjust to his size, hearing Jamal whisper soft praises as he grips your hips, rolling his slowly to help. Once you do, he pulls back out, only living the tip in your cunt, before slamming back in and finding a rhythm.
âShit,â you spit through a mix of moans and curses, feeling him push into you over, and over, and over. After a particulary rough snap of his hips, your elbows give out under you, causing you to bury your face in the sheets, arching your back harder.
âGod, youâre so fucking perfect.â You hear Jamal breathe from behind you. His eyes are trained on where youâre taking him raw, seeing the glossy sheen coat his shaft, glowing underneath your bedroom lights.
His hands are rough where he gropes, alternating between bunching your dress up higher, spreading your ass and gripping your hips, slamming you against him harder.Â
Jamal pulls you up to his chest, one hand loosely hanging around your neck. You can barely process the change of position until you feel his bare chest flush against your back.
His lips curl into a smirk, watching your mouth slightly open, the filthiest of sounds pouring out into his ears, spit welling in its corners. Your eyes struggle to stay open, your head lulling on his shoulder.
âDonâtâahâdonât stop, please,â you blabber, drunk on his hips snapping up into you.Â
Jamal plants a featherlight kiss on your temple. âNever.â He plants another. âSo good, so good for me.â
He moulds his lips against yours, a messy clash of teeth and tongue. You struggle to kiss back, only whining into his mouth.
The knot in your stomach grows tighter by the second, your moans getting increasingly higher pitched by the second, your face contorting in pleasure. Youâre close, Jamal knows it too.
âIâm close, fuck.â You reach out to him behind you, trying to lock him in place so he doesnât stop. Not like he was planning on it, anyway.
Jamal twitches inside you, and you know heâs close too. His thrusts get sloppier, more sporadic, chasing your high before his own. âCum for me, go on,â he coos, lips ghosting over your earlobe.Â
He reaches around your torso, his fingers finding your clit, circling figure-eights. Itâs all it takes for your orgasm to wash over you in waves, sending your thighs shaking. Jamal doesnât stop, he fucks you through it all, pressing kisses on your neck and shoulder, fingers still trained between your thighs. Jamal pulls out, causing you to hiss at the sudden sensation of being empty. Youâre spent, chest heaving and sticky with sweat, but you still find the energy to turn around, facing him. Heâs jerking himself off in his hands, his cock red and throbbing, begging for a release.
You look up at him with mischievous eyes, his own watching your every move. You pull your dress up and over your head, leaving yourself bare in front of him, sitting on your heels.
Jamal kneels high above you, groaning when he watches you push your tits together, inviting him closer. His head tips back when you stick your tongue out, kitten licking the tip of his cock, tasting the precum dripping from its head.
Strings of white liquid are painted across your chest as Jamal cums, shuddering. You feel some hit your chin, darting your tongue to get a taste, never breaking eye contact.
He cups your chin, pressing his lips onto yours, leaving chaste kisses. You both stay like that for a while, lazily making out, smiling against each otherâs lips.
Jamal plants one final kiss before pulling away. âStay here, Iâll get you cleaned up.â He walks in your bathroom, leaving with a towel and a water bottle heâd found somewhere not long after.Â
You let him gently swipe the towel against your chest, his hand on your shoulder, his thumb rubbing back and forth against your skin. While you two sat in silence, it wasnât an awkward one, far from it. It was comforting. It felt familiar, this domesticity. It felt natural.
You donât say anything when he pulls you to lay on his chest. You donât say anything when he pulls the blanket over you two, turning off the lights. You just focus on his heartbeat.
A throbbing headache has been your alarm these past few mornings, and today is no different.
The sunlight spills through the cracks in your curtains, bleeding through your shut eyelids. You slowly ease into consciousness, sitting up and rubbing your eyes with the back of your hand.
The first thing that hits you is the cold. A shiver runs through your body, instinctively pulling the blanket closer to you.
The second thing that hits you is your lack of clothes. You blink away the drowsiness, examining yourself, completely bare. Peculiar, but not unfamiliar.
The third thing that hits you is the weight on the opposite side of your bed when you yank the comforter. Your eyes widen at the sight of an undressed Jamal, blanket only covering so much, stirring awake next to you. His toned abs in full display, glowing golden in the sunlight.
It doesnât take long for your brain to floor your memories of recollections from last night. You wince, face scrunching in disbelief as the images flashed in your head one by one. What were you thinking?
You bend down to grab the first article of clothing you could find â Jamalâs shirt. Not ideal but itâll do. You put it on to cover yourself, standing up with the plan of getting as far away from him as possible.
A strong grip on your arm stops your plans.Â
Jamal calls your name, voice gruff and thick with the early morning. Youâd be lying if you said you didnât enjoy the sound.
âWhere are you headed?â he asks, adoringly.
No. This is wrong. You canât think of him that way, someone whoâs supposed to be irrevocably off-limits â so you get right to the point.
âJamal.â His eyebrows furrow at the sound of you calling his full name. Youâre never in a good mood when you do. âThis, this cant⌠we canâtâŚâ You watch him look up at you like he was expecting this from a mile away.Â
With one pull, he tugs you back in bed, causing you to sit on his lap, albeit not fully. You donât want to run away from him, deep down you know you donât, and he knows that too.Â
âWhy? You scared of Noah?âÂ
Youâre not sure how to respond.
âThis isnât even, I mean, weâre not evenâŚâ you struggle to string the right words together.
Jamal cups your cheek and you melt into his touch. Your words say one thing but your body suggests another.Â
âI like you, I really do. I know I didnât get the chance to say it last night,â he assures. You feel your cheeks heat at the sudden confession. âI donât want to see you with someone else. I donât want to act like Iâm perfectly fine when you bring up some other guy.â You look deep into his eyes with a look that says, me too. After last night you knew you and Jamal would never be the same, for better or for worse. You pick the former.
âAnd especially not Mathys, Jesus.â You chuckle, finally lightening up. âOut of all the people you wanted to use to make me jealous, you chose him. Blegh.â
The giggles leaving your chest are unabashed the second time around. âWell, it worked, didnât it?â
âYeah, and it sucked.â Jamalâs palm lets go of your face, dropping down to take your hand in his. He resumes to his original point. âI want this, okay? I want to wake up next to you every morning. I want to see you in my shirt every day,â he says while fumbling with the hem of his shirt hanging off your frame.Â
âI want you.âÂ
You wrap an arm around his shoulder, pulling him in closer, this time properly sitting on his lap. âNever took you for such a romantic, J.âÂ
He stifles in a laugh, pressing his forehead against yours before closing the gap. Youâre finally his.

Second-Hand Books
Rafe Cameron x Pogue!Reader
Warnings - Fluff, protective JJ, Reader is JJ's sister, but no description given. Hints of Luke being a shit dad.
As requested above
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
You loved the second-hand bookstore in Kildare. It sometimes felt like a second home. Its name and sign was by no means magical "Secondhand Books" written in cursive golden letters, but the atmosphere was.
The old converted shop was a treasure trove of wonders, tucked away in a little side alley. It smelt like an old library with its shelves filled with countless stories and adventures waiting to be picked up and read. There were plants dotted all around, and even ivy tangled amongst the fairy lights on the ceiling.
Mixed matched lamps, tables, and plush armchairs were scattered around. If you caught Ms. Peggy, on a good day, she would let you sit and read until closing. The old lady enjoyed your company, often making you tea and giving you cookies.
You returned the favour by helping clean, unbox shipments, and take orders. You never accepted a penny from her, even if it was desperately needed it.
"Wheeze, why are we here?" You knew that voice as it carried through the aisles. "The store up the road has brand new books, not these dusty, old shit ones."
"They aren't dusty. Some are old. But none are shit." the youngest Cameron's voice protested. "I like it here. Plus, there is no chance of finding first editions of classics in that one"
"Just look online." Rafe sighed as you peaked around the corner.
He stood close to the door, which bell had jingled as they entered, with his hands stuffed in his shorts pockets. The backwards baseball cup gave him a boyish charm as his sunglasses were tucked into the collar of his pink tee.
He looked a little out of place, but only by his uninterested expression. Rafe Cameron would most likely fit in anywhere if he wasn't jugding his surroundings.
Wheezie, on the other hand, had a smile so bright as she practically skipped into the store. "There is no fun in that. You can't smell the books"
"You're a weird kid, Wheeze." Rafe shook his head, but you caught the small smile as he watched his baby sister happily search the shelves.
"Shut up and help look for Little Women." Wheezie called over her shoulder. "Make sure it's first edition"
You were shocked as Rafe chuckled and held up his hands before helping Wheezie look. He checked the higher shelves that she was unable to reach.
One problem with Ms. Peggy was her store had no order to it. You had offered to organise and arrange in alphabetical order, but she claimed it took away the magic of finding the perfect book.
"Here." You smiled as you approached Wheezie. Rafe had given up looking about 20 minutes ago and was slumped in an armchair, scrolling on his phone. "It's not a first edition, but the cover is beautiful."
"Oh. It's beautiful!" Wheeze smiled, taking the book and admiring the cover. "It's ok, I just said that, so it would give me more time in here." she whispered, making you laugh.
Your laugh caught Rafeâs attention as he quickly glanced up from his phone. His eyes looked you up and down.
Damn, how did you look so beautiful. He was sure he'd seen the crop top you were wearing on Kie before, but it looked so much better on you. He loved the way your shorts hugged your ass and waist. He even smiled a little at the shell anklet at the top of your greyish white Converse.
"You find it?" He asked, having shook the thoughts from his mind and tucking his phone into his back pocket.
"Yeah, Miss Maybank helped me," Wheezie smiled, remembering her manners, even if you were the same age as Sarah. "But I wanna look around some more."
Rafe sighed and rolled his eyes at her pleading look. "Alright, fine. One hour, and then we gotta go."
As Wheezie bounced around the store, he flopped back into the chair, even picking up a book from the table and glancing at it.
What you didn't realise was that as you looked away, he would glance over the top of the book every so often and watched as you moved around the store. He noticed that you would read the back of a book, flick to the first page before smiling and tucking under your arm if you like it.
"Just the one, Ms Peg." You smiled at the old lady behind the till before digging into your old, tattered, looking tote bag and pulling out your purse.
"I can put the others to the side for you, dear." She offered as you had walked up to the till with a pile of five.
"It's ok. If they are gone by next week, then it wasn't meant to be." You said as handed her the cash.
You didn't know why you even admitted to buying all five as you should have known your card would bounce. Maybe this time, you had just been hoping that Luke, your father, hadn't run up the credit bill.
You wished a goodbye to Wheezie as she walked up the counter with a pile of books and even gave Rafe a smile and wave as you left the store.
*-*-*-*
The sound of a dirt bike coming up the road broke you out of the world you were emersied in. You had been reading your new book on the creaky old porch swing on the porch outside. Enjoying the evening coolish before sunset.
At first, you thought it was JJ coming home, but then you realised he'd come home an hour ago with John B and Pope. You could hear them laughing in the house.
"JJ?!" You called into the window open as you stood up, placing your book on your blanket. "Are you guys expecting anyone?"
You were a little nervous as unplanned visits from people not in the Twinkie or Kie's car normally meant your father or JJ had caused trouble.
The rider stopped a few feet away, and your eyes widened in shock as Rafe Cameron removed his helmet. His hair tousled from the helmet and his cheeks little pink.
"Rafe?" You frowned and hugged your hoodie around your body as you hid your hands in your sleeves.
He looked a little unsure of himself as he walked over to you, a cotton tote bag in his hand. "These are for you." He held the bag out to you as he glanced around, not looking at you directly.
You took the bag, completely confused before gasping as you looked inside. It was the books you had to leave at the store.
Before you even had a chance to question it or say thank you, the screen door burst open as JJ came flying out "What the fuck are you doing here, Kook?"
You tried to pull him back as he got right in Rafeâs face "Jayj. Stop"
JJ looked between you and Rafe "What the fuck did he say to you?" He asked you before turning to Rafe again "What'd you say?"
"What's it to you, Pogue" Rafe looked like he was trying to hold back his anger but with JJ right in his personal space it was hard.
"Stay away from my sister, pretty boy" JJ pushed Rafe a little "Get the fuck outta here"
John B and Pope appeared in the doorway but before they could back up JJ, you got between the two that were squaring up to each other.
You stood with your back to Rafe as you spoke to JJ but could feel him breathing heavily behind you.
"Jayj. Go back inside" You sighed and got annoyed as he stared at Rafe over your head "JJ, go the fuck back inside. I will call if I need you"
It took you actually pushing JJ a little for him to snap out of it. He looked at you before nodding "He tries anything. We beat him. He's on our terf now"
You rolled your eyes "I'm sure, he won't. But sure, you boys can protect your territory if needed"
You knew Rafe was taking a risk being in The Cut, especially after the stunt he pulled the other week. You knew why the boys were bitter as you hadn't been too happy either after finding out he'd jumped Pope at the Country Club.
You watched JJ walk backwards and stand on the porch with the others. You sighed before turning to face Rafe.
"I can't take these." You held the bag out to him, but he stook his head.
"They're yours," He said, rubbing the neck of his neck. He seemed nervous and not because of the boys glaring at him from the porch. "Bin them, read them, do whatever you want with them."
You looked in the bag again before smiling. "Thank you, Rafe." You smiled at him.
"I better go." He sighed after nodding at your thanks. He looked like he wanted to say more but walked back to his bike
"Bye," JJ yelled. "Don't come back. The Cu- Ow!" You cut him off as you shoved into his shoulder
"You guys are fucking unbelievable" You muttered walking into the house, leaving them looking offerened at each other.
As you sat on your bed, you pulled the books out of the bag before finding a note, tucked into one of them. Your heart fluttered as you read it.
'I would buy you all the books in the world, just to see that smile - R'

a/n; part 2 os hockey jk!!! i hope you're enjoying this little series so far <3 please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or in an ask! ty for reading muah
The Nook â the campus cafĂŠ â is bustling with students and professors when you step inside later in the afternoon. You just finished your psychology class and texted Jihyo, asking where she was. She told you to meet her at the cafĂŠ for late lunch at which your stomach grumbled as soon as you read her text. That granola bar you ate earlier will only get you so far before hunger returns. Your stomach grumbles again as you step closer to the counter, quickly glancing over the menu before ordering a chicken salad and an iced coffee.Â
Once ready, you grab it and try to spot Jihyo inside the busy cafĂŠ. When you finally spot her, you frown softly â sheâs sitting in the far corner with Namjoon. They really didnât waste any time getting to work on the project. You try your best to ignore the jealousy bubbling inside of you as you make your way to their table.Â
When class had ended almost immediately after the pairs were revealed, you had packed up your stuff and left the room before Jungkook could start a conversation. When Jihyo texted you about your sudden disappearance, you were already sitting in your seat in your next class. You told her you only had a 5 minute gap between classes and had to hurry there to make it â she seemed to believe your excuse and didnât ask any further questions.
Phew.
âHey,â she greets you with a warm smile when you sit down next to her. âHow was class?â
âBoring but at least I had Minhyuk to keep me entertained,â you grumble, voice dripping with sarcasm as you unbox your salad to pour dressing over it. Before you can take your first bite, you look up at Namjoon with your best attempt of pleading puppy eyes, âNamjoon, please switch partners with me. Please!â
Both he and Jihyo look rather surprised at your sudden outburst as you stuff your face with a big bite of salad and chicken, looking more upset than ever as you wait for a response to your pleading request.
âI- um, who was your partner again?â He asks instead of just agreeing like you had hoped he would.
You sigh deeply, â... Jungkook.â
The mention of your childhood friend turned ex-friend has Namjoon shaking his head and laughing dryly as if you just told a really bad joke. You stare at him with a glare, waiting impatiently, internally praying and hoping heâll say yes if you look miserable enough.
âIâm sorry, ____, but no, I donât think so.â
You groan, the hints of a whine under it, âwhy not? You know Jihyo and I always do projects together-â
He shrugs, âas much as I feel bad for you, itâs still a no. Jungkook isnât exactly the type of guy you wanna pair up with for projects.â
You canât help but roll your eyes, âyeah, no shit. Why do you think Iâm asking?â
Jihyo places a hand on your shoulder as if to calm you down. Looking at it from an outside point of view, you probably need it.Â
âCome on, ____,â she chuckles, âIâm sure it wonât be as bad as you think.â
Sheâs probably right â Jungkook isnât a bad guy or anything, that much you know. Heâs just that guy who cut you out of his life as soon as popularity grabbed a hold of him and made him prioritize everyone else over you. Youâve never been about that popular lifestyle so when he first gained attention from the pretty girls and the cool boys in high school, you knew the expiration date for your friendship was nearing. And as someone who hates holding grudges, youâve been holding this exact grudge for half a decade with no plans of ending it any time soon.
âBut itâs Jungkook,â you groan in frustration, âyou know our history.â
She nods, âyes, I do. But maybe itâs time for both of you to move past that? Itâs been 5 years already, ____.â
Despite knowing sheâs right, you let out a fake laugh and return your focus to your salad. As much as youâd like to move past it, you just canât. Jungkook really hurt you and it seems he doesnât care so why would you spend your time and energy on him? Why should you forgive him for leaving you behind without so much as an explanation for his asshole behavior?
âYeah, over my dead body.â
Jihyo sighs deeply in defeat while Namjoon stifles a laugh. You shoot them both an annoyed look before taking another big bite of your salad. You shouldâve known Namjoon wouldnât switch partners with you â heâs crushing on your best friend, for Christâs sake. But still, it was worth a shot.
The three of you finish lunch in the matter of 30 minutes before you have to be at yet another class. They share their next class and youâre on your own once again, dragging yourself to class.
Luckily, this class is the last one for today.
Once you locate the classroom and find a seat, you get settled and ready for the class to start. Youâre browsing around on your laptop when a text suddenly appears in the right upper corner of the screen. The fact that you receive a text isnât that exciting or out of place but the person sending it certainly is.Â
And as if one text wasnât enough, a row of them ticks in after the first one.
[2:24 PM] Jeonđ¤Źđđź: hey, idk if this is still your number
[2:24 PM] Jeonđ¤Źđđź: if it is, hey ;)
[2:24 PM] Jeonđ¤Źđđź: wanna meet up sometime this week to work on the project?Â
You stare at the texts for a minute, racking your brain for all the reasons why Jeon Jungkook still has your number after all these years and then you wonder why you still have his. Also, since when does Jeon Jungkook care about doing a project? You didnât exactly peg him to be the one encouraging school work. Although, it seems youâre taking too long to reply because he sends you another text before you have the chance to think of a reply.
This guy certainly doesnât fear the concept of double texting. Or triple texting. No, he shamelessly texted you four times â probably without second guessing it too.
[2:25 PM] Jeonđ¤Źđđź: Iâll bring iced Americano :)) if you still drink it, that is
Youâre simply speechless.

Things I love about this video:
Georgia didnât think to get something to open the box before starting (ADHD FTW)
When she did, itâs her keys and a nail file that is used (which is what I use most of the time)
David doesnât know what unboxing is (not surprising given how ~offline~ he tries to be)
When I was showing this video to my spouse, he stopped me when the word unboxing was first used and said âdo they [british people?] have a different word for opening a package?â And I said âno, itâs a Thing. Like people on youtube make a living doing unboxing videos.â And heâs like âcan we do that?â And then as I tried to say multiple times that thereâs more to it than that he just kept talking about how many boxes of stuff we have and how he can seal them back up afterwards đđđ
So, my spouse doesnât know what unboxing is either (heâs slightly more online than David, but not by much)
David is so excited about this pan
He does a pretty good Stanley Tucci impression
So. Excited.
Stan the Pan Man
The cartoon immediately after in the IG stories
Questions I have:
Why would the pan be sent to Georgia? Didnât David do a show with Tucci? What am I missing?
SO EXCITED!

AITA for trying to unbox our new roomba with my mom.
đ¤đ
OK so my family got a new roomba today and I was very excited, especially since we get to name it. I already had a bit of a bond to it since humans will pack bond with anything and my mother knew this. Once it arrived I was unboxing it with my mother. We got it out of the initial box we went to open the one it came in. It was just a plastic tape seal holding down a tab you would pull out. I grabbed a pair of scissors so I could open it cleanly. My mom went "nuh uh, I don't want you opening it" and when I asked why she said "I don't want you tearing it open" and then I asked "why do you think I have the scissors?" Which I was holding in my hand. She never gave a response.
Then when we got it out of the box and flipped it over, we saw that it came with 4 brushes. It only needed 2 at the time. It was so easy to see how the brushes when on and where they went on that I put them on. They just easily snapped on. My mom got upset and went "could we just read the instructions first" to which I responded "to see the exact same thing as the first step" which it was by the way.
Lastly, I went to take the protective film off of the charging station, the same kind of film you have on a laptop screen when you first get it. She replied loudly from across the kitchen "could you please not touch that" and I responded with "I'm just taking the protective film off" and she got upset. I asked her why she was treating me like a child and specifically said there's literally no way to mess this up and she just told me to give it to her. So I did and left in a huff at being treated like a child. She never told me specifically she didn't want any help or want me there in the first place.
What are these acronyms?

my life, my seasons (teaser) | l.sm
genre: strangers to lovers, small town au, grumpy x sunshine; fluff, angst, comedy
âł hometown cha cha cha x once upon a small town x summer strike inspired
pairings: gn!reader x lee seokmin, librarian!reader x handyman!seokmin
description: you're stuck in jeju for the summer having to run your grandma's library when you should be on vacation. things could not get worse. good thing lee seokmin, the man who you run into almost everyday, is there to make your summer a bit better.
word count estimation: 13k??
a/n - yes, dokyeom is inspired by hong dusik and yes, i love small town kdramas. anyways, please be patient as i hurriedly work on finishing and posting the final fic :') . comment or ask to be added to the tag list!
seokmin thinks he likes you.
he saw you practically every day. from then on, he wondered if he would ever have a bad day again as long as he saw you.
first, it was when he realized you would remember everything he said, all the small things, which was crazy because you couldnât even remember what you had for dinner the day before.
it was a late night at the library. he had just finished tutoring his last student and you were closing the library.
seokmin had asked if you were hungry and you said no, only for you to be interrupted by the grumbling of your stomach saying otherwise. then that led to seokmin teasing you and you punching his shoulder, telling him to shut up.
so, he had ordered takeout to be delivered to the library for the both of you.
he had laid out all the side dishes for you as you unboxed the main dishes.
when you both finally sat down to eat, he has grabbed your chopsticks and split them for you, making you shy and then kick his foot gently under the table for mentioning your reaction.
what made him blush though was when he noticed you moved the dish of sliced cucumbers closer to you.
when he gave you a questioning look, you just shrugged, without even looking at him as you dug into the food, âyou said you hate cucumbers.â
but it was definitely the time you were there for him when he felt the loneliest.
it was when mrs. park, the chinese restaurant owner, was a vendor at the summer festival in the next town over. she had called him when he happened to be with you.
the moment he ended the call and a cloudy look filled his eyes, you immediately picked up on it and asked what was wrong.
his words were brief. all he said was that mrs. park needed his help during a festival, but he declined, and mrs. park was not pleased.
you knew him well. you knew he hated disappointed the townspeople since it was his only job to fix their problems. but you also knew his trauma with crowded places, not that he knew you knew at the time.
so imagine his surprise when mrs. park texted him a blurry selfie the day of the festival and in that selfie was a beaming mrs. park and you in the background wearing an apron and hairnet with a dead look on your face.
âthank you for sending y/n in your place instead! sheâs grumpy but a great worker!â she had texted.
seokmin had never asked you to go in his place.
a couple hours when he assumed youâd be home, he immediately called you.
âwhyâd you go in my place, y/n? i know you probably hated it the whole time,â he whined into the phone.
you laughed. and it comforted his soul. âwhy didnât you tell me your fear of crowded places was real?â
his silence makes you sigh. âthat day at the chinese restaurant with my friends, i accidentally overheard you and mrs. park talking about it. i didnât mean to eavesdrop, iâm really sorry. and donât feel bad for not doing something that you canât do. itâs not your fault. if anything, let me do it.â
seokmin knows he likes you and he likes you so much that he doesn't know what to do about it.

Would you graciously give us a glimpse at what it was like the first time Maria invited Bob to her room ?
*loud screeching* *screeching intensifies*
Maddie, I would love nothing more. When Bob first moved in with Maria, he mostly kept to himself. Maria thought he was quiet and reserved, but not in a bad way. He had an adorable smile that he always seemed to bestow on her when they were in a room together, and he smelled good. Like really good. One evening, she found him sitting on the living room floor, his long limbs comically large compared to the sets of Dungeons & Dragons dice he was sorting into organized piles. She watched him from the doorway for a moment, a smile finding its way to her lips, before she made her presence known....
"Hey," she said casually, even though she wanted to moan when she walked close enough to be able to smell his shampoo. Or his laundry detergent. Or whatever it was that she liked so much.
"Maria," he replied, flumbling some of his dice as his cheeks turned a little pink. "Hi." He started to quickly sweep his dice into the tray near his knee with his big hand. "I was just... actually, there's really no cool cover story here. I'm sorting my dice by color like an absolute dork."
She laughed which made him smile as she waved him off like it was nothing to be embarrassed about. "Don't let me stop you. Actually... can I help? It looks kind of fun."
Five minutes later, they had opened a bottle of wine which was sitting on the table with two glasses, and Bob was telling her about his new character while she helped him organize his dice.
"I like this one the best," she said once the bottle of wine was empty. She was poking a sparkly orange d20 with her index finger, and for some reason, Bob leaned in a little closer and pushed a few strands of her hair back from her face.
"You can have it," he told her when her gaze snapped up to meet his. "Since you like it."
Her eyes were wide, and her lips were parted as her tongue darted out to wet them. "Thanks," she murmured softly, wrapping her fingers around the die and taking it to her bedroom with her for the night.
Bob was still thinking about how soft her skin was when he got home from work the next day. Maria was already there, opening her mail. "This one came for you," she told him with a smile, sliding a box across the coffee table.
Part of him was nervous to open it in front of her. She was going to think he had some sort of shopping addiction at this rate. When he unboxed another new dice set, he winced in her direction, but she just laughed in response.
"Should we go ahead and sort them into your collection?" she asked, holding out her hand to look at them. "We could open another bottle of wine."
Honestly, nothing sounded better to Bob. He poured two glasses once again, and they sat on the floor together. As soon as Maria added his new dice to the appropriate color pile where they left them on the living room shelf, she crawled back toward him.
"I kind of wish there were more to put away," she told him. "Hanging out with you is fun."
She looked and sounded sincere. He wanted to touch her again. But this time she beat him to it, crawling right into his lap, letting her fingers brush through his hair.
Maria kissed him, and she tasted like the wine. Her body was soft and warm against his, and when his hands made their way to her hips, she encouraged him to keep going. When he touched the bare skin of her lower back, she stroked his tongue with hers.
"I have an idea," she whispered, nipping at his lips while the combination of her voice and the wine started going to his head. "Why don't you come to my room and see where I put that orange die. It's very close to my bed," she told him as she pulled her shirt over her head.
He was on his feet, helping her up immediately. Maria and Bob stumbled down the hallway to her bed, making out and leaving a trail of clothing along the way. It was a few hours before he took the time to locate the d20 on her nightstand.

Arc-V 10th Anniversary Cafe (April 2024)
Why can i only upload 10 images per post on the app sigh
I went twice, because the menu changed halfway!
Actually it was prohibited to take photos of the projector screen for some reason (I don't get it, because it's the same art on the merch) but ummmm let's just keep it between ourselves okay
My first visit was near the end of the first menu, so seats were readily available! (We don't talk about when I was like oh maybe I'll go today- oh fuck what do you mean there's no more slots oops guess ill go tomorrow)
When I went in at 6.30pm it was pretty empty, and since I was first in the queue I got to choose where I wanted to sit! And of course I made a beeline to...
While waiting for my food, of course I had to hit up the gacha (do not recommend, highly do NOT recommend) They had a bunch (think like 50-100 of those blind packs all stuffed into a basket and you do choose it yourself, but.....
You can only buy a maximum of 10 per type, and I was mainly looking for just the pawnies, though I was also looking for some of the others for friends...............
... I love Running Reiji because he's a reference to the manga, which I love dearly, but holy hell after his 3rd appearance I was feeling. something. The way I spent $[redacted] on these and I got only 1 out of the 4 I wanted (also how cruel is it that I got everyone in Group B except for hayaku yuri, damn
Halfway through the packs the Reiji drink (an iced sweet potato milk drink) i ordered arrived! and it came with a random novelty item like every item on the menu (Why is everything in Japan gacha. Just kidding I know the answer its the goddamn c word) and I got Reira! Very happy because she's one of my faves and she is so mega cute here
Anyway food's here!
The amount of pasta looks little because i only remembered to take a photo midway (was too depressed over my pulls when I started eating)
I was STILL unboxing the blind packs when it arrived and when I say do not gacha it's because the number of repeats was already getting to me and by the time I finally got around to my pasta it was already lukewarm...
It was alright, it was just a cream pasta (I think I was supposed to pour the lemon juice onto it maybe?)
Me when I consume lemons me too yugo so true
At the end you get to choose (yes CHOOSE and not gacha holy shit) a bromide of your own choosing for every 5,000 yen you spent (I guess that's why, because at that point you've already given them so much money the least they could do is to let you choose the little png to take home) took multiple of the yus so I can send them to friends!
Part 2 after I see if the airport gift shop has chiikawas...

Hello, Anon:
This is your Oldie Chinese Diaspora Anon⢠This is the second part to me trying to detail ImĂłmĂłâs recent troubles. Some of the issues are trivial while others are quite grievous. Itâll be a bit of a jog, but letâs take it together, you and I.
The first stop is another anonymous whistle-blower who came up to accuse Water of something that I have never heard before.
This person claimed to have worked as DZ and DCâs artistic director. He invited Water in as a collaborator before and thought very highly of her skill and her integrity. Unfortunately for him, a victim reached out to him to let him know that they have been sold the design of a body that is over 90% similar to the Mimi Dog design thatâs been made and sold by ImĂłmĂł (this one:
This goes above and beyond recasting and is absolutely _verboten_ since it makes legit buyers of either âsculptâ end up looking like they bought counterfeits and recasts. Ex-director had screenshots he had with the victim. This made him look like he was complicit in the scheme, and heâs really angry. Other buyers have also popped up to comment that Water had claimed that her sculpts were sold off by âHer bossâ in the past (about 2-3 years before this incident) but now it looks like she simply sold the same sculpt to two different companies and tried to play the victim. She was the sole proprietor at the time (which was traced by whistle-blower #2) and there was no âbossâ. This is also mentioned in the next XHS link below, too.
The second stop along the way is the quality control for ImĂłmĂł. Over the last year or so, people have mentioned that the headbacks were of a different colour with a bad fit that was obviously wrong for the face sculpt. (This was mentioned in an earlier XHS post:
As Ex and the two whistle-blowers revealed, the reason why the headbacks do not fit was because they were never meant for the rest of the head sculpt. The headbacks were left overs from previous shipments and the factories were trying to use them up since they werenât getting paid, so they did not want to make more doll parts for free. This eventually led to more shoddy workmanship because the factories were working for free.
Due to this incident, a lot of the older unboxing and reviews started to float up to the surface as well. People are trying to find out just when did this embezzlement issue really start. For example, this buyer showed off her dollâs shoddy quality back in 2023:
(video attached)
This one with the really thin vinyl happened in August of this year (but the sculpt was probably developed and made much earlier:
She also mentioned that she bought this head from SWDolls and wants people to avoid both of them. Perhaps itâs just me, but it does seem that these two entities are entangled with each other in some ways. SWDolls is an agent for many, if not all of the Chinese brands, but their names are not attached to anyone in specific like this one is.
And finally, if you have been here for a while, you may have remembered me talking about the problems with PVC as a doll material as well as some issues found on an unboxing of a larger PVC doll (found here:
This is from a different company, of course, but the same issue had been raised with ImĂłmĂłâs larger vinyl dolls as well. Unfortunately, the results can be hilariously sad:
(The neck and shoulder area had sunken into the torso. This is usually due to the vinyl being too thin and cannot fully counteract the stress from the strings. I am not sure why there are marks on the skin in the neck and the abdomen area, but I think we can agree the workmanship is quite bad. Maybe this is the ârevenge of the poor factoriesâ, but either way, itâs a bad look.
Step 3 has something to do with the relatively anonymous world of the Internet. This XHS user called out a new company called âNiji Dollâ for the extremely high similarities between their doll heads and the ImĂłmĂł head:
Niji Doll is another âThree-nothingsâ stores with a lot of secrecy behind it. There are now people who think that Water is actually selling her doll designs to other brands as an exit strategy. This one is left last because there are way too many speculations involved. But I think itâs a good idea to include this for completionâs sake.
That seems to be where the story ends, for the moment anyhow. I will keep an eye out for more exposĂŠ should any arise. Itâs not exactly up to me to say if I believe the official ImĂłmĂł channels or a nameless, faceless (and obviously disgruntled) person like Ex here, but I do have my suspicions. Like I said at the beginning, this is a case of a âBad business with a good productâ. Should the owner stick to decent, good business practices, there is a bright future for vinyl dolls like the one he sells. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, itâs hardworking factories and their employees as well as the guileless buyers who ended up being the final victims. And this is just sad all around.

chapter 01: guess whoâs back
ây/n, hurry up and get the last box so we can get out of here!â her dad shouted from downstairs.
âcoming!â she called back, taking a last look at her room before carrying the box downstairs and into the u-haul. sheâs finally moving back to hyĹgo after 3 years, excited to soon be reunited with her childhood friends atsumu and osamu. although she didnt grow up with suna, she talked to him plenty online. atsumu insisted y/n to talk to all his friends on the volleyball team as a way to stay connected while she were away which is why sheâs so well-acquainted with suna.
she won't lie though, sheâll miss the friends that she made at nekoma⌠sheâll miss her study sessions and weekly gaming nights with kenma and kuro. they were sure a fun pair to be around, making those three years feel like three months.
y/n slid into the seat of the truck as her dad turned on the engine.
âarent ya excited to go back to hyĹgo after three years? you made sure to tell your friends that you're returninâ... right?â he asked, buckling his seat belt before pulling out the driveway.
y/n fiddled with the hem of her shirt nervously, âwellâ i haven't told them anything yetâŚâ she confessed, âI kept waiting for the right moment, but it never cameâŚâ she sighed, leaning back while gazing out the window, admiring the scenery pass by for the last time.
âthatâs alright kiddo. you can always surprise them, y'knowâ he smiles, ruffling his daughters h/c hair. âdon't stress; it'll all work out.â he reassured.
after a long drive, they finally arrived at their new home. âthat was sure a long car ride⌠my muscles are stiff~â her dad grumbled as he stretched. y/n tiredly rubbed her eyes. just as she was getting ready to fall asleep, they just had to arrive.
âcmon y/n, these boxes aint gonna move themselves,â he said.
âokayyâ she yawns, i just wanna sleep⌠thirty minutes later and they were finally done moving all the boxes in their new house.
âokay, we're all done. iâm heading to bed. my backâs sore from all that lifting. you're free to explore the neighborhood, just don't stay out too late.â
y/n nodded and climbed up the wooden stairs to her room. âthere's boxes everywhereee~â she whines. âi guess i should at least be productive and unbox some stuff to kill time.â
after a bit of unpacking, y/n decided to take a break. âi guess it wouldnât kill to roam around the block; i could use a convenience store run,ââ she thought. she grabbed her house keys and slipped on a hoodie to shield her from the cold.
familiar with the area from her previous time here, finding the nearest convenience store was quite easy. she lazily walked in, scanning the aisles, she decided to make her way to the candy isle. while she was engrossed in the candy section, the door chimed indicating that another customer had entered the store.
âi still can't believe yer dumbass accidentally spiked kita yesterdayâ the cinereous haired boy laughed.
âright? japans best setter and server? i think notâŚâ another voice chimed in.
âcan you guys both stop HATING right now? It was a ACCIDENT!â the accused huffed.
âthat serves yer ass right. i knew you were aiming for me!â the twin shot back.
âi'll make sure to aim properly next time.. just wait.â the blonde threatened with a grin.
âbrr shiver me timbersâ the twin said sarcastically, earning a smack from the blond.
âguys, stop fooling around before we get kicked outâŚâ the brunet sighed, crossing his arms in annoyance. âyea, let's stay focused, atsumu. we came here for candy for our movie night!â
âwhy are you blaming me like you didn't start this whole fight, asshole?â the blond retorted behind the duo.
âhmm what should i getttt~â y/n sighed, still undecided about her candy. âhmm, maybe sour patch kidsââ
ây/n..?â a familiar voiced called.
y/n abruptly turned her head toward the voice and saw her childhood friends, plus suna, standing in front of her. shitâ she had entirely forgotten to tell them that she moved back here⌠awkwardâŚ
âoh my gosh, it really is you!â atsumu exclaimed in shock, his eyes wide. âit's been three years and you magically pop back in town?â without another word, atsumu enveloped y/n into a big bear hug, nearly knocking her off balance.
âwoah there, you're about to make me fall! someone sure missed meâ y/n teased, earning a flushed look from the honey-haired twin.
âyou never told us you were coming back?â osamu questioned, his mouth curling into a small smile as he ruffled y/nâs hair.
âheyyy, you're gonna mess up my hair asshole!ââ she grumbled, swatting osamuâs hand away.
âso youre the famous y/n huhâ suna asked, eyeing her up and down with a dramatic, exaggerated scrutiny, like he was assessing a celebrity.
âyup, thatâs me!! not sure how i'm famous though,ââ she laughs
âoh you're famous alright. atsumu won't shut up about you. every day itâs, âi miss y/nâ, âwhen will y/n come backâ, âdid y/n forget about us?â so annoying.â suna teased.
âshaddup suna stop exposing me!â atsumu shouted, his ears turning red.
âso, are you here for vacation or somethinâ ?â the grey-haired twined asked, tossing a few bags of candy into the shopping cart.
âoh, we actually moved here, my dad got a new job here in town. iâm sorry i didn't tell you guys⌠i just didn't know how to bring it up, and i was scared that you guys wouldn't want to see me after so longâŚâ she admitted, nervously fiddling with the hem of her sweater.
the blond smiled warmly, âthat's alright y/n. we're just glad that yer back. it's been sooooo long!â
âanyway, we were just stopping by to get snacks cause we're having a movie night. you wanna join us?â suna asked.
âoh, yea sure! i would love to,â y/n grinned.

Not the end, but a new beginning - III
Chapter III
Warning: smut, blood, (sorry about the delay guys, I'll edit this post later with the tag list)
As the eldest Mikaelson brother gets more suspicious about their new guest, a memory from his life in Europe unfolds, bringing Elijah over the edge.
As Hope guided Minna to the guestsâ room, Minnaâs eyes ran all over the Mikaelsonâs place, trying to see if she could get some clue of what was happening and why they wanted her so bad.
âHere it isâ â Hope opened the door and turned to Minna, waving around then holding her own hands down, feeling a bit of ashamed by the way her family found to bring Minna to them â âThereâs towels and a robe in the bathroom, if you wantâŚto take a shower, I donât knowâ â Hope felt her cheeks flushing , she couldnât help to not feel glad and hopeful Minna was there, so she got closer to her and held her hands, looking up to her eyes. â âSee you in the eveningâ - and disappeared before Minna could say anything.
Meanwhile downstairs, Elijah, who tried his best to regain his usual composure, was drinking some bourbon at the study room looking out of the window, when Klaus busted room in, confident as nobody hasnât seeing in quite a while. â âThere you are, brother! You missed the unboxing of our brand-new weapon against the hollowâ â Klaus cheered while poured himself a glass as well â âAnd if I may add, sheâs quite ravishingâ.
âNiklaus... ââ Elijah finally moved his gaze to his brother, placing a hand on his pockets â âDoesnât it feel too...easy? Discovering this woman, bringing her home, close to us, to Hope. Shouldnât we be more careful in times like this?â â He started walking around the room, avoiding facing his brother in an attempt to disguise his real worries. Klaus heavily set on the couch, taking a large sip of bourbon â Brother, she seems to be the key for what we need, but in case she isnât, Iâm sure we wonât have any issues in ending her as well â he rose his eyebrows and smirked to his brother, lifting the glass up â âDonât be so⌠how you lot call me? Paranoidâ
As Minna finished her shower, she wore a silk black robe that was kindly placed on her bed and walked towards the balcony, combing her wet hair and trying to organize her thoughts. She was apprehensive, although that family was very warm welcoming her, something deep in her guts felt wrong. To push away her fears, Minna figured that walking around the compound would be a wise idea, in case she needed to scape. As she walked through the shadowy hallways, a husky deep voice took her by surprise.
âMiss Murray, I believe I didnât have the honorâ â Elijah appeared unannounced, making Minna gasp in surprise, but laughed softly placing one hand on her chest â âDear Lord, you scared me!!â â she turned to face him, breathing heavily. Her eyes ran all over the man facing her, his open hand in the air, indicating he wished to greet her. As Elijah took her hand and lift to meet his lips, his eyes were locked on hers, he felt like time had stopped. The roses smell on her skin, her soft fingers, her touchâŚIt couldnât be real. â âIâm Elijah Mikaelson, you met my siblings I believe.â â He kept her hand on his, as his eyes dropped to the black silk robe she was wearing. The fabric was delicate, hugging her hips and breasts, allowing him to see her chest moving up and down as Minna's breath was still uneasy by the surprise approach. She was barefoot, which allowed him to recognize those delicate feet, absorbing every detail completely. As Elijah lifted his eyes to meet hers again, he was taken somewhere else.
______________________________________________________________
Vienna, 1886.
It was a breezy autumn night, Elijah was leaning against the window, looking the few pedestrians walking on streets of Vienna. He was distracted, hands in his pockets trying to disguise his anxiety, when he heard some soft steps approaching â âDear Lord, you scared me!â â Elisabeth gasped in surprise, giggling by the sight of Elijah in her room. She stepped slowly towards him, playing with the ribbons of her nightdress â âYou were not supposed to be here Elijah, Mrs. Berger doesnât allow gentlemen in the roomsâ. He opened a warm smile as Elisabeth approached him with a cheeky glow on her face.
â âWell, you were not at Dr. Freudâs lecture this afternoon, so I felt the obligation to come here and check for your wellbeingâ â Elijah grabbed Elisabeth by her waist, bringing her close enough to feel his lips ghosting over hers, filling the air thick with tension. Elisabeth stood on her tiptoes, ran her hands through Elijahâs torso up and down, vociferating â âLiarâ â with a giggle before catching his lips on hers.  As their lips and tongues devoured each otherâs, she slid a hand around his neck, softly pull his hair. Elijah pulled her closer, placing a hand on her back, sliding the other down to her hip, grabbing her butt cheek eagerly â âNot lying Elis, a single day without the sight of you is a nightmare to meâ- He broke the kiss to cup her cheeks, his thumbs softly caressing her face â âI truly mean it, darlingâ.
Elisabeth held Elijahâs hands and took one to her lips, kissing it satinly as her she closed her eyes â âI know my love, I knowâ- She suddenly opened her eyes and leapt over the bed, sitting on her heels- âSo why donât you tell how was your wasted day while you brush my hair?â.
Elijah unclasped his cufflinks, folding his sleeves and set behind Elisabeth on the bed. He took a brush for her nightstand and softly started untangling her long chestnut hair. He pulled all to one side, exposing her neck and a part of her shoulder, running his hand up and down, slightly pressing her neck. As Elisabeth closed her eyes, enjoying his touch, she opened her lips releasing a soft moan, making Elijahâs fangs stand, feeling his member tight up inside his trousers â âI got a gift for you, but you must keep your eyes closedâ- he whispered on her ear, nibbling it down to her neck. Elisabeth nodded, rubbing her hands on her nightdress fabric, as her arousal was increasing by feeling Elijahâs touch. He fasted the necklace on her neck and guided her to the large mirror on the bed side. â âNow you may lookâ â he held his beloved, crossing his arms around her waist, and rested his chin on her shoulder, watching her reaction on the mirror.
âElijah!â â She gasped surprised, her big onyx eyes were brightening by the diamonds sparkles â âThis is... too much. Itâs beautifulâ â Elisabeth hissed mesmerized, turning her face to capture his lips. âItâs nothing compared to what you mean to me Elis. And itâs just an overture to what I need to sayâ â Elijah was placing soft kissed on her skin while his skilled fingers unbuttoned her nightdress. Elis laid her head back on his shoulder, pressing her hips against his, feeling his bulge urging to be released.
As her nightdress dropped by her feet, Elijah cupped his hands on her breasts, squeezing them with some pressure, making Elis moan a bit louder as he sank his fangs deep on her neck, drinking her eagerly. Her blood dripped from her neck, his mouth, tainting the diamonds, making a bloody mess all over her naked body. Elis put her hands behind her back, unbuttoning Elijahâs trousers, releasing his cock, running her hands up and down on it, making him retrieve his fangs, to catch a breath. He ran his hand down her body, coating his fingers with blood and sliding two of them inside her from behind.
Elisâ high-pitched moan was suffocated by Elijahâs wrist, as she sank her fangs on it, drinking from him, as he pushed his fingers deep inside her and withdraw them slowly, making her bend over the mirror. She placed both of her hands on it, staining blood over the mirrorâs surface, meeting Elijahâs gaze through it. He stroked his length with his free hand, placing his cock between her butt cheeks, sliding it easily with all her blood and wetness, ready to swap places with his fingers inside her. Elisabethâs moans became louder, irregular, as she was pressing her hips against his hand, whispering his name, until they heard someone shouting outside.
-MISS MAGYAR!! MISS MAGYAR! What is happening here?! â An old lady was knocking fiercely on the door, demanding Elisabeth to open it immediately.
The knocks on the door were so loud that Elijah was brought back to the present time, out of his memory dream. His eyes focused on Minnaâs, noticing he was still holding her hand tightly. She lifted her free hand and touched his face softly â âElijah? Are you okay?â
âPlease forgive me, Miss Murrayâ â Elijah released her hand as he bolted away, disappearing through the dark hallway.
