Cursed (Avengers X Reader)
Tumblr media
Series Masterlist
Part Four
Your dull eyes flicker to the door as it swings open. You recognize the person who enters as the man that was wearing the flashy armor on the jet. He looks a lot different without the armor on yet he still carries an air of confidence. His eyes are glued to the tablet in his hand for a moment before he finally tosses it onto the table and gives you his attention.
"So, Hannibal, if I remove your jacket are you going to play nice?" You quirk a brow at the name, unsure what it means or where it came from. Once you give him a slow nod he moves towards you, moving behind you to unclasp the multiple buckles. The jacket slides off easily, revealing that you're wearing nothing but a tank top underneath it. Despite being free of the restraints, you keep your arms wrapped securely around yourself as if you're still wearing them.
"I've got a few questions for you but first I need to know if you know sign language." When you shake your head he sighs. Of course those Hydra bastards wouldn't teach you a way to communicate without talking. "Alright, do you at least know how to write?" This question is met with a shrug which makes him purse his lips. Regardless, he pulls out a notepad and pen from his pocket and sets the items on the table in front of you.
He moves away from you after that to sit in the chair on the other side of the table. "Let's start simple. What's your name?" He already knows the answer to this, of course, but he wants to see what your answer is.
You sit there for a few moments simply staring at the paper in front of you before slowly reaching forward to pick up the pen. Your hand shakes slightly from lack of use as you try your best to write down your answer. The word is understandably written with shaky lettering. Once done, you push the paper closer to him so he can read it.
He leans forward to read it, frowning slightly. Cursed is what you wrote down in very wobbly letters. At least it's spelled correctly which shows that you at least understand how to read. Hydra must've figured writing wasn't a necessary skill for you to learn.
He had hoped you would have remembered your name since the files said you showed signs of remembering things a few different times. Maybe with time your memory will return. "Do you know how old you are?" You shake your head. "Do you know anything about yourself?"
You hesitate before pulling the paper back towards yourself to write your answer. While you had heard Natasha read out some of your file, you didn't actually pay much attention to what she was saying. Even if you did, you likely wouldn't believe the information given.
Tony watches as you scribble the words, pausing occasionally as if trying to think of how to spell specific words or maybe to think of more things you know about yourself. Once you're done you slide the paper back towards him.
'Killer. Cursed. Hydra operative.'
He sighs, running his hand over his mouth before holding his chin in thought. It's obvious that any questions he asks will lead to him receiving answers that they already know from the files. He highly doubts you'll know more than he does about yourself. Hell, right now you seem to know less.
He decides to stop the questioning for now in order to go talk with the others. He'll need their opinions on some things. Plus, he's almost certain you'd feel more comfortable with either Natasha or Cap talking to you rather than him. After informing you that he'll be back, he exits the room.
"What's the plan?" Natasha questions Tony the second he enters the room on the other side of the mirror.
"Honestly? I don't know." Tony shrugs as he crosses his arms over his chest. "We know she's willing to answer questions but there's no way of knowing if she'll be a threat if we release her."
Bucky stares at you through the glass, taking in your tired appearance. "I don't think she'll be a threat to us if we can show her that she can trust us."
"Do you think we should remove the device from over her mouth?" Steve questions, brows furrowed as he looks at his best friend.
Bucky shrugs as he turns towards the others. "We'll have to remove it at some point so she can eat. Whether or not it stays off is the real question."
"She hasn't given us reason to not trust her yet. The entire time she was with us at the Hydra base she cooperated and didn't lash out at all. We even had our backs to her at one point and she didn't do anything." Steve points out as Natasha nods along.
"Granted, her arms were restrained but she still could've tried running. I think she knows that she'll be safe with us even if she doesn't know who we are." Natasha looks to Tony. "We should give her a chance. Maybe put her under someone's watch who will be able to handle her."
"According to her files, using her ability on strong opponents tears her throat up. That and using powerful demands. We don't know who will be able to handle her based off of that information alone. The notes didn't have specifics."
"Thor would be the best choice but he's currently off world." Natasha runs a hand through her hair as she thinks. "I'd say Hulk could handle her but there's no way Bruce will let him out for something like that. I think our only options are the two super soldiers or Wanda."
Tony nods along in agreement. "Steve was one of the first people she met so she might trust him more than the others. However, Barnes also knows what she's been through and could bond with her through that. Then again, she might be more comfortable with Wanda since she's a chick."
"Why don't we let her decide?" Clint cuts in making the others look towards him. He had been standing silently in the corner simply observing everyone and they all forgot he was even there. "Or maybe put them on a rotation so not just one person is watching over her."
They all easily agree with the plan since it's the best one they've got at the moment. They don't know enough about your powers yet to have a more permanent solution. For now, you'll just have to be stuck being watched over by different members of the team along with Friday.

・❥ SAY IT AGAIN
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။||||။‌‌‌‌‌၊|• 0:10
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ rundown :: you find out caleb had been logging into your phone at random times of the day to keep track of who you were texting. frustrated, you call him to yell at him only to question what exactly he was doing on the other end.
WARNINGS :: NSFW! 18+ , phone sex , sub!caleb (per usual) , masturbation , cnc , use of y/n
a/n :: highkey got this idea from that one scene in twk when cardans kissing jude & telling her to say she hates him..🌝🌝
Tumblr media
he had absolutely no right to be invading your personal space. absolutely none.
you were so fucking angry.
caleb was away on a trip with gran. usually, he would simply ask to check your phone, and you'd happily give it to him- knowing he means well. but with the shit he has been pulling, you're starting to question whether or not he really does trust you like he says he does.
you had found out that he was hacking into your phone because the device started acting awfully odd. opening apps you didnt click on, siri turning on without any context, letters on the keyboard being pressed when you never tapped on them in the first place. confused (and frankly a little scared), you took it to a professional to get it checked out. when he asked if anyone else had the password to your socials, thats when the realization dawned on you.
you felt so stupid. utterly dumb. but how were you supposed to know? you had told caleb about the issue multiple times and each occasion you mentioned it he would always say the same thing: "thats so weird, pips.. maybe you should go get it checked out or something." feigning complete innocence.
you had enough.
driving home as fast as you could, you barely reach the front door before you're calling him nonstop until he answers.
"hey pips! i missed yo-"
"you fucking liar."
there's a beat of silence at that. your breathing is heavy, going right into the mic- giving caleb an idea of what he's in for.
"um.. excuse me?" caleb manages, swallowing thickly. he knows exactly what you're going to yell at him for and he's praying to jesus christ himself that he can manipulate his way out of it.
"you know exactly what i'm talking about, don't try to play dumb. you've been going into my phone and looking through my shit. i thought you said you trusted me? what happened to that? i mean, seriously, caleb, i thought we had gotten over this." you say, voice pinched a bit higher than usual. you're pacing around the room in order to keep yourself calm, heart beating at a distressing rate as you don't like to argue with him.
"pips, i really don't know what you're talking about," he utters, licking his lips. "i know whats been going on with your phone has been messing you up, but you don't necessarily have to blame me for it. look, once i get back i'll help you figure out what's wrong with it just to prove that it's not me. deal?"
you can tell that he's trying his best to soften his tone to make his lie more believable, but you aren't gonna buy into it.
"no. no, caleb, just quit the act already. i'm so tired of this. i'll give you two choices," you say, sitting down on the couch; elbows on your knees. "either you stop with the whole hacking thing and we stay together, or i cut things off with you and we never talk again."
for a moment, there's nothing being said. pure silence. he's absolutely speechless on his end of the phone, mouth agape and eyes wide. every few seconds, he'd attempt to say something but nothing would come out- resulting in something that resembled a stutter.
"well? what's it gonna be?" you asked, becoming to grow impatient.
"y/n.." he whispered. "you.. you can't do that to me. i-.. i'm sorry for doing all that crap. i didn't do it because i don't trust you... it's other people that i don't trust. please believe me, baby. i can't stop doing it, it's just my way of keeping you safe."
aaaand now it's your turn to be shocked.
"are you fucking serious?" you yell, and you swear you can see the look on his face regardless if he's visible or not. eyebrows raised up, cheeks as red as roses, eyes backed up with tears. you know how much he hates being yelled at by you... but he deserves it. "you can't be serious. please tell me you're pulling some joke."
" baby, please. i-"
"enough. just quit it. i fucking hate you, caleb."
he swallows. no, practically gulps. he shouldnt be turned on by the sound of that. he really shouldnt. he knows he should be terrified by the threat of you leaving him... but the tent growing in his pants is getting undeniably uncomfortable that he just can't seem to care.
unzipping his jeans, he gently lays his back on his bed, being carefully quiet to ensure you don't hear.
"you're fucking insane and no matter how much i try to talk to you about it you never change. it is draining, caleb. you have absolutely no idea how fucked up you are."
he's nodding against his phone, murmuring small 'yeah's here and there to let you know that he's listening. what you aren't aware of is the fact that instead of really listening, he's actually moving his hand at an insane speed on his dick. it gets to the point that he can't even respond, the pleasure taking over. all he needs is for you to tell him how bad he is and how much you despise him for him to be able to go over the edge.
the fact that you don't even know whats going on keeps him going for even longer.
"...-is so frustrating, caleb! you don't even care for me and... wait, are you even listening? hellooo?" you shout, expecting an answer.
he picks up his phone from where it was sitting on his pillow and takes it off speaker phone to reply. "y-yes, baby? 'm sorry.. i'm, um, listening. keep talking." he responds, stuttering over his words.
you roll your eyes, thinking he simply just doesn't care. "my god, you're so fucking annoying. i hate you so much, y'know that?"
he nods hastily, even though you can't see it. "y-yes. say it again. please." the last word comes out broken as he was embarrassingly close to cumming.
you stop in your tracks, both eyebrows furrowed. "um..." you utter, confused at what he was playing at. "i... hate.. you..?"
"f-fuck!" he whisper-shouts, hips thrusting into his hand as he drops the device back onto where it was initially. he brings his previously free hand down to his cock to stroke the tip, twisting his wrists. biting his lip, hard enough to draw blood, he makes his best effort to keep little whimpers inside of his mouth. it works for the most part... but you already knew what was happening. he does it too many times for you to not know.
"caleb." you warn.
he doesn't answer, he can't answer, mind is too hazy from the force of his orgasm. he's practically like putty on his bed, half asleep and half awake.
"text me in the morning." you say before hanging up and throwing your phone on the bed.
he will not ever learn.

Itsame!! How do you think the batfam would react to taking in a Mouse that was a villain kid? annnddd had somewhat unhinged tendencies from growing up w/ their parents?
thank you el!
--🎆
Hmm. In normal circumstances, I think they'd all react very patiently and just steer you in the direction of making good decisions instead of bad. Damian was raised by a league of killers, and they rolled with that without blinking. You'd have to be the child of someone super fucked up to make them think twice about who you are as a person. Like extremely fucked up.
Like, the worst person they could think of.
Tumblr media
The cave was dead silent. Every member of the family stood around a table and looked at the documentation Bruce finished putting together in regards to the child he'd locked in a cell just down the hall with a mixture of dread and concern. Information was sparse, but the DNA tests and mannerisms were more than enough to paint the picture no one was acknowledging.
Tonight's patrol was supposed to be a routine one — investigate some leads, stop some crimes, then come home and go to bed. What Batman and Robin found instead, by pure happenstance, was a partially completed setup for an elaborate death trap that the Joker had been working on, which was then subsequently blown up in a half-hearted effort to kill them so he could escape.
They'd survived, obviously, but it wasn't just Batman and Robin that came back.
"So the clown fucks," Jason finally blurted. "Think he's only got one spawn?"
"Yes, as far as I can tell," Bruce said, rubbing the back of his neck. The migraine he'd been fighting off all night was swiftly worsening. He just wanted to go to bed. "Joker didn't seem to realize he'd left the child behind when he escaped tonight. I think she wasn't supposed to be there."
"Understatement of the century, B," Dick mumbled, thumbing through the papers again. "How did he manage to keep her secret for so long? That kid is, like, seven or eight."
"How did that frivolous hack keep her alive for so long?" Damian asked. "I'm just as impressed as I am concerned."
"We can figure that out later," Tim said, addressing the biggest problem, "what do we do about the Joker's kid?"
Everyone exchanged looks with each other, all silently coming to the same series of conclusions:
1. They couldn't put the child in the System. Her history and yet uncatalogued behaviors could lead to major issues, and the Joker would find and retrieve his kid in a matter of days.
2. They couldn't put the child in Arkham. There wasn't a ward set up to handle children. She was too young to be there, and breakouts from the Asylum were a common occurrence, so she'd inevitably go back to him.
3. They couldn't put the child in Juvenile Detention. As far as they knew, she hadn't committed any crimes, so there was nothing to convict her of in order to have her admitted.
Which meant, for the foreseeable future...
Jason stood up, thumbs gliding down the handles of his guns. Bruce gave him a sharp look and he holstered them with a shrug.
"You know I'm not actually gonna hurt 'er," he sneered, grabbing his helmet to slide it on. "But she don't know that. What's a little intimidation between a captor and captive, huh? I'm just lookin' to get some info about our new roomie is all."
"You can just ask," Bruce said. "That's a child in there, Hood, regardless of whose it is. We can approach this peacefully."
"Oh, fuck off. Your favorite wacko popped out a baby and he's been raising it for years. We can't assume this kid is any more logical than the shit-pile it came from."
Jason marched past Bruce and vanished down the hall where they kept the containment cells. Bruce hurried after him, scowling, and the remaining three followed suit with different levels of curiosity and caution.
"This isn't going to be good..." Dick muttered.
It didn't take long to reach your cell. The door was made of bulletproof glass, and the walls and floor were a smooth beige color, with pressure sensors to keep track of your location, oxygen levels, and heart rate. In one corner of the room was a toilet with a privacy curtain and a sink, and in the other was a plain bed with two pillows and a blanket.
You were lying in the middle of the floor, staring up at the ceiling with vacant eyes a placid smile on your face. You had on white face paint with a bold, red lip and blue triangles above and below your eyes, a bright green button-up shirt with a black bowtie, suspenders, brown pants, and black shoes that clicked every time you bumped your feet together.
Click. Click. Click.
Aside from the rhythmic bumping of your shoes, you were dead silent and unmoving in the cell. You didn't even look up when Jason walked up to the door and leaned against it, whistling for your attention.
"Hey, you," he called. "Name, now."
You didn't answer. Jason banged his fist against the glass, listening to the sharp reverb.
"When I speak, you answer," he barked. "What's your fuckin' name, kid?"
Click. Click. Click. You continued to admire the ceiling, arms splayed out at your sides.
"That's real cute," Jason growled, punching in the code to unlock your cell door. "You gonna pretend like you can't hear me? That's fine, lemme come to you then. I'll make sure you pick up the message loud and clear —"
"Red Hood!" Bruce said, grabbing his arm. Jason shook it off and stormed inside, grabbing a fistful of your shirt and lifting you off the ground. You didn't fight him, body limp and pliant in his grasp, and continued to watch the ceiling.
Click. Click. Click. Your feet bumped against each other even still. Unbothered. Undisturbed.
"Name," Jason demanded, voice warping badly through his voice modulator the angrier he got. You didn't acknowledge him. "I'll start asking you in other languages. Don't think you can get out of answering me that way, either."
"I think that's enough, Red Hood," Dick said, slipping into the room before Bruce could get in and potentially make things violent. He walked around behind you and gently hooked his hands under your armpits, coaxing you out of Jason's grasp. "You're probably scaring her. Let's all just —"
You giggled. It startled Dick badly enough he dropped you, and you crumbled to the floor like a puppet with cut strings. Your giggling grew louder as you carefully straightened out, lying on your back with your arms splayed again, and you smiled up at the ceiling.
"What's there to be afraid of?" You asked, voice sweet and cheery. It was also strangely soft, nothing like the harsh pitch of your progenitor. "The batcifists have captured me. I'm perfectly safe and sound."
No one moved. You hummed, shifting your head side to side with a wistful sigh.
"Batcifists. Get it? Bat-pacifists? Because you don't kill people? Popsy said you guys didn't find most jokes funny, and I guess it's true..."
Click. Click. Click. You knock your feet together again as silence momentarily descends upon the room.
"Does your popsy talk about us a lot?" Tim asked from the doorway.
"You're my bedtime stories," you muttered. Click. Click. Click. "Popsy says his greatest dream is to make you all laugh so hard you choke."
Dick crouched down next to you, frowning. You kept your gaze on the ceiling.
"What about you?" He asked. "What's your dream?"
"I'm Popsy's favorite toy." The smile on your face grew wider, more genuine. Click. Click. Click. "His absolute favorite."
Jason abruptly turned and left the room, stomping down the hallway. Damian looked visibly uncomfortable and followed soundlessly after his brother.
Click. Click. Click.
"Well, we can't call you Toy, can we?" Dick reasoned gently. "Do you have a name? What does your popsy call you?"
You giggled again. It was a gentle, melodic thing, that gradually worsened and grew louder, until you were clutching your stomach and kicking your feet with sheer glee. Your sharp cackling echoed through the room, the remaining bats all watching you with varying levels of horror. In the throes of it, you sounded exactly like him.
Nearly a minute went by before you started settling down again, wiping a stray tear from your face. You chirped your name with obvious pride as you clicked your feet together.
"Punchline!"

I think the most tragic part of Eurylochus’ part in Epic is that his one act of true selfishness (or two acts) are what condemns him not only in the eyes of Odysseus but also most of the audience. Warning: spoilers for all sagas of Epic: The Musical below the cut, up through Thunder Saga.
He’s introduced in the musical in Full Speed Ahead by mentioning wanting to find food to feed the rest of the men of the crew. In the same song, he grows defensive immediately after suspecting a lurking threat, suggesting that they take an offensive approach. He just wants to find what they can (to eat) on the island and keep going so they can all return to their families.
In Polyphemus, his only line in the entire song is him giving credit to Odysseus and Polites for finding the cave and takes note that there are enough sheep to feed everyone.
I have no doubt that he’s fighting along with everyone else in Survive.
But he shows his concern for the others in Remember Them. He is the one who snaps Odysseus out of the brief dissociation he experiences following the slaughter of a handful of his men. He also asks Odysseus what they should do with their “fallen friends.” Of course, we know that if people weren’t buried correctly, they were doomed to an eternity of unrest.
He’s worried about the souls of those men that they lost and is (most likely) not happy about having leave them behind and neglecting such an important ritual.
When Polyphemus awakens after being stabbed in the eye and it becomes apparent that there are more cyclopses in the cave, Eurylochus gets even more concerned and antsy, even pleading with Odysseus for them to just run before things get worse and they lose even more men.
In Storm, Eurylochus’ lines are all about expressing concern for their fleet (although a little pessimistic) and their well-being.
Luck Runs Out is personally one of my favorites and one of the most obvious signs that almost everything Eurylochus does is for the sake of their crew. The entire song is about him looking out for everyone else including Odysseus. “You could be caught off guard and lose your life. Or piss off this guard and infuse us with strife.”
It’s also important to note that the chorus has Eurylochus and the crew singing in unison. Eurylochus expresses his doubts but not because he wants power or to just get under Odysseus’ skin, but because he genuinely cares about everyone on board and just wants to make sure they’re making the right decisions.
And honestly, as a second-in-command, he should get some say or consultation and perhaps this song is him starting to realize that he is not being heard.
“I just don’t want to see another life end. You’re like the brother I could never do without.”
“And suddenly you doubt that I could figure this out?”
This right here is where it becomes apparent to me how dedicated Eurylochus is to Odysseus and the crew. And I can only imagine how he feels after pouring his heart out to only be met Odysseus’ indignant response. Eurylochus wasn’t trying to challenge Odysseus’ authority, but his response is defensive regardless.
Eurylochus switches from referring to him as brother back to referring to him as Captain, maybe sensing that sort of division, maybe sensing that he overstepped in some way. But still, he reiterates his concerns once more before Odysseus pulls him aside.
When Odysseus tells him that he needs to always be devout and comply with whatever he says and tells him to do or else they’ll all die, Eurylochus ultimately agrees. The beginning of that reluctance shows.
He doesn’t really have many noticeable lines in Keep Your Friends Close, but I do want to give you some food for thought that my partner and I @cat-gwyn-gunn discussed. Do you think that Eurylochus would have opened the bag of winds if Odysseus entrusted him with it to guard and made it absolutely clear what is inside and what will happen if he does?
How would you feel if you were your captain’s supposed second-in-command who had led the fight with you and stood by your side for 12 years suddenly came back from a god with a mysterious bag and guards it while staying awake for 9 entire days? Does that not show a severe lack of trust in your crew and would that not make you suspicious? Do you think maybe Eurylochus was sort of egged on by the crew who also thought it was treasure to check?
It’s hard to really put yourself into their shoes because we know how things end and we know that the storm is actually trapped in the bag, but they don’t.
Then, Poseidon comes in Ruthlessness. And Eurylochus sees all those men die. They went from 600 men to just 43 men. While of course he feels guilty for his decision to open the bag, he’s also hearing confirmation that Odysseus is the reason that Poseidon is after them. He probably remembers begging his Captain to just run and escape, and instead Odysseus proceeds to dox himself and all of that leads to that moment.
But still… that guilt does do something. Because after opening the wind bag, we don’t really hear any sort of defiance from Eurylochus for a long time.
In Puppeteer, we get an even further look at this growing divide between the two brothers (in-law). Eurylochus wants so desperately to let Odysseus know what he did, his tone is remorseful, he’s practically pleading for Odysseus to acknowledge him and reassure him. He is incredibly shaken after what happened with Poseidon.
Only for Odysseus to completely wave him off and send him on a mission. Perhaps it’s because Odysseus needs some time to process what happened and strategize or maybe he thinks Eurylochus is going to talk about it and he’s not ready to hear any of it. Or maybe even he’s jumping to being defensive, thinking Eurylochus is defying him again.
Eurylochus, who promised Odysseus that he’d be devout and compliant, and whose one failure to do so attributed to the loss of hundreds of their men, agrees to do what Odysseus says with little fight. However, his fears and concerns are left unaddressed and unacknowledged and he has not received any sort of reassurance.
While he is recounting his (and the crew’s) encounter with Circe, it shows that he is cautious in his decision to not join their men inside with her. Which pays off, since he gets to run back and let Odysseus know what happened.
When Odysseus says that he has to save them and Eurylochus says that they don’t, it almost sounds dismissive, like those men deserved what happened and they’re no longer their problem. This is a cold take and there’s no defending his callousness with leaving the men behind- I won’t defend it.
However, I will point out that with the next line he points out that they’ve already lost so much and gained almost nothing and once more he suggests that they run if only to preserve what little crew they have left. And again shows concern for Odysseus (or at the very least concern for him as their Captain who can get them home) saying that he doesn’t need to play Circe’s game and asking him if he will leave if she proves too hard to kill.
Notice that he says Odysseus doesn’t have to play her game instead of outright telling him not to. He’s trying so hard to be compliant because he just saw what happens when he isn’t.
He might also be wanting to avoid being responsible for even more bloodshed and loss even if slightly.
Eurylochus doesn’t really have any more parts to play during the rest of the Circe saga and throughout the entirety of the Underworld saga. He’s essentially not only just doing what Odysseus tells him to do but he’s also holding onto all this awful guilt and shame for what he did.
Underworld is almost entirely Odysseus’ point-of-view. We really just see into his world for this saga. He tells his men that no matter what they find, keep going, yet he falls victim to the voices he hears and the guilt that arises and eventually peaks. We have no idea really what anyone else is thinking. For all we know, Eurylochus is drowning in his own visions. He has all this time to think and reflect.
In Monster, Odysseus comes to the conclusion that he will become the monster, he will do whatever it takes to get home to Penelope and Telemachus. I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe that Eurylochus also comes to the conclusion that he will do whatever it takes to make sure that the crew is taken care of and preserved. This is the beginning of when that line that truly divides them starts to be drawn.
Different Beast is when it starts to become clearer to the crew and Eurylochus that a change has occurred. They start the song by singing along with Odysseus, using “we” and “us”. Odysseus is driving them all to be monsters. His actions are being reflected on the crew as a whole as their Captain.
Odysseus tells the siren that his actions almost cost his life, no longer reflecting on the crew’s toll as a whole, and that he must see his wife. This is when the crew starts to sing that “he” is the monster. And they end by calling his name- confirming that they are now aware that the monster is Odysseus. Really the only times someone’s name is called is when they’re an opponent like Polyphemus or Poseidon. So foreshadowing!
Scylla is where things take a turn for the worse- it’s where that line is nearly fully drawn between Odysseus and Eurylochus. But it doesn’t start off that way. Scylla begins to sing that “deep down you hide a reason for shame.” Immediately after, Eurylochus admits to being the one to open the wind bag and he apologizes profusely and pleads to be forgiven.
Odysseus doesn’t respond but Scylla does in a way. She continues to goad Odysseus into believing that his actions are merited. It’s what he must do to survive to see his wife and son again. He has always known this deep down- he said it in Just A Man - deep down he would trade the world to see his son and wife.
The next time Odysseus speaks, he tells Eurylochus to light up six torches. Now, I imagine that this is a moment of great relief for Eurylochus. Even after the awful betrayal, Odysseus still trusts him. Going back briefly to Circe when she says “maybe showing one act of kindness leads to kinder souls down the road” maybe this (Odysseus showing trust in Eurylochus) was the act of kindness and Eurylochus picks men he trusts and likes to hold the torches as a way to pass on that kindness.
Then, all hell breaks loose.
He watches as all of these men are snatched up one by one by Scylla’s six heads. He comes to the realization that Odysseus knew that was going to happen, that he made him actively participate in the murder of six of their men. That he didn’t communicate anything about what he was about to put his crew through.
Eurylochus knows what he must do.
In Mutiny, He goes right out and demands Odysseus to tell him that he didn’t not know that would happen which is a far cry from “please don’t tell me you’re about to do what I think you’ll do.” It’s a direct challenge. He spits out the word “Captain” almost mockingly. He continues to prod at Odysseus, telling him to use his wits (when in Luck Runs Out, he said that people die on it). He brings up that every other time they faced someone Odysseus came up with a plan to save his men, but this one time he runs (when before it was Eurylochus who urged him to run with both Circe and Polyphemus).
He has pretty much lost trust in Odysseus, but still is trying to give him the opportunity to say something, to explain. However, when Odysseus says he can’t Eurylochus says he’s forced his hand. He doesn’t really want to fight Odysseus, let alone kill him.
Once again, Eurylochus is the voice of the crew. They know now that Odysseus is willing to do absolutely anything to see Penelope again. They attack him. They voice their doubts in him and echo the sentiment that Eurylochus does which is that Odysseus must be stopped.
When he awakens, and they’re on the island, Eurylochus is the first man he sees and Eurylochus no longer sounds angry. He uses “we” and “us” telling Odysseus that hunger is so heavy in the crew. Voicing their concerns again. Looking out for them again.
He holds no malice for Odysseus. He’s resigned; he has lost complete hope in returning home. All he wants is to share one last meal with his brother and friend and the crew.
He switches to just using “I” stating that he is suffering, he is hungry, he is tired. This is one of the first times (if not the first) where he lets it known what his own desires and complaints are. Every other time it’s been on behalf of the crew. He’s being selfish. He knows this, but he’s so overwhelmed and hopeless that he’s willing to make this impulsive decision.
Odysseus continues to respond to Eurylochus’ pain with only thoughts of himself. He says that he needs to get home, he pleads with just him. But then the crew comes in and echoes Eurylochus’ sentiments. Odysseus addresses the crew this time, switching to “we” can get home. He knows that he’s fighting a losing battle, that the crew is essentially listening to Eurylochus now, that they don’t trust him.
And with Eurylochus’ action he declares that he’s just a man. He’s selfish. He’s hungry. He’s tired. He’s suffering. He makes mistakes. He can’t always just push through. He’s flawed.
And when Eurylochus hears the panic in Odysseus’ voice (which panic is not something he has shown before: he’s dissociated/been in shock, been angry, and desolate but never panicked) he realizes what he’s done. He immediately reverts back to seeking Odysseus’ guidance as his Captain. He calls for him by his title.
He’s relinquishing control, but it’s too late at this point.
Thunder Bringer closes out their portrayals of betrayal and brother's final stand arc with Zeus rubbing it in Odysseus’ face that his crew’s hunger is his responsibility. That as their King and Captain, he failed them so badly that they resorted to damning themselves to alleviate that hunger. He’s the one who drove them to mutiny.
Zeus tells him to choose and the crew already knows what he’s going to pick. They realize now that the monster was with them all along, that Odysseus has come full circle to being the true monster. After they sing their piece and Zeus fills Odysseus’ ears with Penelope’s song, there’s a deafening silence as the decision is being made.
Eurylochus breaks that silence, calling out one more time. He calls for his Captain but in his voice he’s calling out to his friend. He’s scared. He knows they’re going to die. It’s almost like they’re children. He’s making that final reach for reassurance that he already knows he won’t receive. There is nothing but resignation in his voice.
When Odysseus confirms his choice, saying that he has to see his wife again, all Eurylochus has to say is “but we’ll die.” Again, he’s scared. He was willing to die over the cow, but that was an impulsive decision. It is very different when imminent death is staring you right in the face and especially when it’s at the hand of someone who you thought you knew and cared for.
I imagine that as the rest of the crew rushes forward to strike Odysseus down, Eurylochus stays behind and just looks him straight in the eye. He knew all along who Odysseus would choose and he has accepted it.
It comes full circle. Eurylochus came in as the voice of the crew and he died as the voice of the crew.

Innocent Mischief
Tumblr media
Summary: Innocent Bets can lead to interesting surprises..
Requester: @michellewgrt
Rating: PG 14
‘’WHERE THE HELL IS IT??”
Tony’s voice could be heard echoing off the walls of the tower, a signal that told you to quickly duck back into the kitchen and slow your steps to make it seem casual.
‘’I told you I could do it.’’ You said playfully with the same smug look Loki had given you after completing his own bet.
He regardless gave you slow clapping with a hidden look that you knew meant you had impressed him while you pulled up a chair alongside him at the island counter. ‘’yes, yes mortal you have indeed stayed true to your word by showing you have been able to keep the Iron Idiot sober for more than an hour. Yet I might have to count hiding to booze as cheating.’’
You scoffed at him and waved a hand, leaning on your elbows as your eyes glanced to the open door like Tony would storm in here right now by hearing that. ‘’please, you cheat practically all the time. If you wanted rules, you should have brought them up weeks ago when we began this.. little thing.’’
For the past few weeks, Loki and you seemed to have amused yourselves by placing bets on who could do what around the tower. Call it.. innocent mischief while you helped him pass the time on house arrest. So far the pranks have been hidden enough where not many would figure it had been you two causing the trouble, and you didn’t exactly plan on sharing a cell with him if you both got found out.
Not that you really minded if you actually was honest with yourself.. your eyes often lingered on him whenever he was around, having countless conversations in your head on just how attractive you found him.. and fun. This had to be the most fun you’ve had in.. forever, and dare you say he seemed to favor your presence too..
‘’okay it’s my turn,’’ you spoke up, gaining his attention to glance at you while he closed his book he had been reading until your return from Stark’s mayhem. ‘’I bet you can’t go a day without calling me mortal.’’
Loki raised a brow and turned more of his body towards you, his knee brushing up against yours but you didn’t dare look down to draw attention to it. He often would tease you on certain things and you willed yourself to hold back a brush while his eyes surveyed yours.
‘’that would be to easy.’’
‘’you literally just called me it five seconds ago,’’ you pointed out- a little dramatic but you bit your bottom lip with the slight nerves that moved in your stomach. ‘’-you know my name right?” you half teased.
Loki gave you an unamused look as if you had just called him stupid but couldn’t help but chuckle ‘’yes Y/N I know your name, the mere… mortal name is simply a habit.’’
‘’habit?” you raised a brow, trying to distract yourself from the warm feeling you got by the sound of your name leaving his lips.
He gave you a smirk and straightened in his chair teasingly. ‘’I used to be a royal, and the customs normally didn’t have us address anyone.. below us- so to speak, by name. because you Midgardians aren’t necessarily peasants because you are not of our kingdom, we address by the simple terms of what you actually are.’’
‘’but.. you know my name- doesn’t terms change when a friendship is formed?” now you let your blush show in which you quickly opted to turn forward again and lean to look more out the door in front of you- a mere excuse to look busy while you felt his eyes on you.
‘’you think us friends?” he teased, a tactic normally used to avoid particular questions while you pulled your gaze away to look at the marble counter. by your silence and your nervous habit of biting your bottom lip he often enjoyed noticing, he decided to ease up.
‘’alright darling, I bet you to not go into work tomorrow.’’
‘’what?-‘’ your eyes immediately moved back to his, knowing fully well it wasn’t that easy when you went in yesterday perfectly fine. ‘’why-‘’
‘’I’d very much like to continue our little game we have going.’’ He smirked while your mind was half distracted on already trying to figure this whole thing out.
‘’we’re been playing for weeks-‘’
‘’and you know that this is the bet I am choosing for you. Unless of course.. you wish to forfeit and give me the win?” he smirked, his chin already resting in his palm while his eyes watch you get up to start nervously pacing while you pulled out your cellphone.
‘’easy for you to say, you don’t necessarily pay bills around here.’’ You mumbled, getting to your supervisor’s cell number.
‘’neither do you Y/N.’’ he pointed out, not obviously using your name on purpose as if to thoroughly show you he was using it.
You gave him an annoyed glance while you held the phone to your ear. ‘’yes, but I have expensive taste-‘’ you explained before your whole voice changed to something heavy and groggy, your body resting on your forearms against the marble while Loki watched from across it.
‘’hello? Yes, I’m so sorry but I was just calling to let you know that I think I ate something bad and it doesn’t look like it’s getting better..’’ you said in the more tired, weakest voice you could muster while your eyes flicked over to Loki, expecting to see his impressed look that you were actually doing it.
However, you only saw his eyes actually lowered and you squinted, trying to guess what he was looking at while your supervisor went on with the usual speech about how you guys needed to be thinking ahead and how you’re lowed staffed, blah blah blah. Yet you finally realized what Loki was looking at and quickly stood back up from your leaning position, placing your free hand over your chest to cover what your shirt did not. Your eyes shot at him while his rose up to look at yours, a non-regretful smirk tugging at his lips while he laced his fingers together and leaned his chin in the middle innocently.
‘’yes- yes.. I’ll let you know as soon as possible tonight if I can’t make it tomorrow, thank you- bye.’’ You said quickly, not sure if they bought your fake voice because how you got distracted in which you set down your phone and placed your hands on your hips. ‘’pervert!”
‘’my sexual behavior is not abnormal nor surprising. You merely presented; I followed my instincts.’’ He said simple while you elected to sit down where you were across from him instead with a scoff.
‘’well if it adds on to your good mood,’’ you said sarcastically and felt the remnants of butterflies in your stomach with that fact that Loki had actually tried looking at you. ‘’I did it.’’
‘’did what?”
‘’the bet.”
‘’no, you did not.’’
‘’what-‘’
‘’you simply told your boss you will let them know if you will be calling off or not, it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Thus, it is only fair if I get another turn.’’ He smirked and your eyes widened.
‘’that’s not- you cheated-‘’
‘’I have not cheated darling, it’s merely strategy by.. as you call them, loopholes.’’
‘’yeah, to get out of something, not to gain something-‘’
‘’we should have went over rules weeks ago, as you’ve said.’’ He smirked and you merely mumbled incoherent words that may have been mildly rude while you crossed your arms stubbornly.
‘’now then Y/N,’’ he smirked at the use of your name, loving the mere sound of it on his tongue while you glanced at him with annoyance at his over exaggerated use of it. ‘’I bet for you,’’ he paused, standing up from his chair, which brought you to your full attention with a dropped expression. ‘’to admit how you truly feel about me.’’
Your eyes widened, finally feeling the redness come to your cheeks while your arms tightened in their cross hold. ‘’..what?”
‘’I bet for you to tell me how you truly feel about me.’’ He said, a bit more serious this time with his expression just as blank as yours.
With each step you saw him take around the counter, the more your body craved to squirm in your seat and you fought to keep your eyes on his because gods knew if you broke eye contact for a second, he knew your answer without you even having to speak.
‘’..since when did the bets involve just the both of us-‘’
‘’they’ve always been about the both of us darling, and I’ve loved every single moment of it.’’ He seemed to purr, a hand gliding against the table while it followed him closer to you. ‘’there is not many out there that crave and enjoy the amusement of mischief, Y/N, and over time I have found myself craving the presence of you..’’ his voice got lower, the use of your name this time gently and almost seductive while your hands moved to grip under your thighs to the edge of your seat, almost as if you wouldn’t fall off the closer he got.
Finally, he stood in front of you, his face patient and gentle while his fingertips slowly tapped one by one against the counter. your thighs pressed together while your body tensed, cheeks red and your teeth capturing your bottom lip. He loved all of it, seeing all of it, causing all of it, and you knew that you couldn’t deny the inevitable even if he literally just answered for you.
Giving up, you lowered your gaze, quickly turning your head towards the table so your eyes hadn’t just made contact with his pelvis before you felt your heart pick up. Taking a deep breath, your fingers tightened and you closed your eyes. ‘’I like you Loki.. a lot.. since you got to the tower and I- I love this.. these moments together.. they’re the most fun I’ve had in a long time..’’ your eyes slowly rose up to meet him, following while he knelt down beside you with his free hand resting on his knee. ‘’I don’t want them to stop-‘’
‘’are you afraid if they do, we won’t see each other?” he whispered, his hand coming up to gently rest on your knee, making your breath hitch and all you could give a nod.
‘’darling.. these games we share aren’t purely what keeps us together.’’ He smiled gently ‘’I enjoy your spirit, your sarcasm, your love for books and animals, how you don’t need assistance on the field because your stubbornness makes you fight harder, how you bit your bottom lip when your nervous, how your eyes quickly look away so you think I didn’t notice your staring,’’ his hands rose to gently take your hands away from covering your face and held them in his.
‘’I love being around you Y/N.. I love you..’’
Your eyes widened, fingers clutching onto his own while held your breath. In a swift motion, your legs moved to the side so you were facing him before you leaned forward, wrapping your arms around him neck to bring him closer. You felt him lean forward, an arm wrapping around your middle while the other rose up to place his hand gently at the back of your head with his face buried in the crook of your neck. Your chin rested on his own, lip quivering at the mere overwhelming sensations of feelings while his hand rubbed your back to soothe them.
‘’I love you too Loki..’’
You could feel him inhale, his hold tightening ever so slightly to keep you close, almost as if you would disappear before he moved his head up to rest his chin against you. ‘’I bet you to kiss me..’’
You couldn’t help but smile and pull away just a little to cup his cheeks. ‘’it’s not your turn..’’ you whispered with a tease, making him chuckle and the hand at the back of your head pulled you forward so your lips pressed up against his.
He was soft, smooth, lustful but in control and the hum that left your lips swallowed up your moan while your hands gripped his shoulders. His chest pressed up against yours, his own hands now gripping your hips while you began to feel your thighs eagerly opening if it hadn’t been for the creek in the floor that had you both looking towards the door way to find Tony, Steve and Nat all amongst the kitchen with the same expression.
‘’told you they were going to get together.’’ Natahsa winked at you while Tony rolled his eyes and passed her and Steve a $20 while your cheeks reddened as much as Loki’s eyes when he glared.
‘’don’t you all have something better to do?” he grumbled, clearly not happy by the interruption while he rose with his hand clutching yours, pulling you up as well.
‘’we do and it finally came to a conclusion’’ Tony chuckled while Steve held his hands up in surrender.
‘’we’re happy for you guys, honestly we haven’t been here that long-‘’
‘’I know you are lying Rogers, you all can leave now.’’ Loki snapped.
‘’it’s my tower.’’ Tony laughed.
‘’fine then,’’ You shrugged and began walking away, pulling Loki behind you while you flashed him a smirk.
‘’I gotta call out anyway.’’

JADE has recalled her stint on The X Factor, saying she didn’t know anyone who came away from the show without “some sort of mental health issue”.
The singer-songwriter featured on the talent search programme in 2011 and joined girl group Little Mix when she was 18 years old, an experience she has reflected on in a new interview with The Independent.
The ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ singer admitted that being on The X Factor involved adjusting to “pretty fucked up” things, namely sharing bunk beds with other female contestants, regardless of age.
“Even at 18, I knew there were people who weren’t mentally well in there, keeping everyone up at night,” she said. “I don’t know if there was even security outside the house. It’s scary to think about now, but I was too young to realise that at the time.”
Her comments come after many entertainment world figures have demanded more protections be put in place for young artists following the death of One Direction star Liam Payne, who auditioned for The X Factor during the same series as Thirlwall.
Although she didn’t address Payne’s passing directly, she did mention thinking the series “had to end” after its 2018 conclusion.
“I don’t think that kind of show can exist any more. We’re in a different place now,” she added. “We wouldn’t put someone that’s mentally unwell on a TV screen and laugh at them while they sing terribly. The concept of a joke act on a show is just cruel.”
She said the concept was “all very Roman empire” while joking that it was the “best training ever” for her to enter the music industry. On a more sombre note, she continued: “I don’t know anyone that’s come off that show and not had some sort of mental health issue on the back of it.”
Thirwall also admitted to feeling “conflicted” about criticising the show. “It changed my life,” she explained. “I was from a very normal working-class family up north, I had tried sending demos in to labels, I’d gigged all over, I was doing everything I could to make it, and I needed a show like that to give me a chance.”
She continued to say that she’d guess “five per cent of the people that went on there have come out of it not unscathed, but having survived; the other 95 per cent have suffered in silence.”
Reflecting on how people readjust to normal life after participating in something like The X Factor, she said: “How do you go from being on that show to back to your nine-to-five? How do you get signed to the label, think you’ve made it, and then once your song doesn’t hit the Top 10, you’re just dropped? It’s so savage, this machine that we’re a part of. Even back then, we knew how lucky we were every day that we were still signed.”

| Shut up for me, love, | (part 2)
Part 1 (finding out you're pregnant w/Megumi)
Toji Fushiguro x Wife!Reader
Toji can't help but love you and your baby bump!
Word Count: 1.6k
CW: SFW, domestic fluff, Toji has a job, slightly suggestive, lots of pregnancy (mentions symptoms)
A/n: This has generated so many pregnancy fic ideas...
Your husband, Toji, had been a great help through the first trimester of your pregnancy. He was always giving you massages, bringing you water and snacks, and spending lots of quality time with you, among other things, and you were very grateful for it all.
Many changes were going on throughout your pregnancy, as to be expected now in your second trimester. While the morning sickness was now gone, there was a number of new troubles you could note. Most importantly, the bump.
For the most part it was a blessing, even when it caused a number of effects, such as walking differently and feeling a rather strange weight on your hips, something you hadn’t dealt with beforehand. It was proof of a growing baby, and both you and Toji couldn’t be more happy about it. Instead, the effects it had on your husband were the real concerns.
When you were starting to show, your husband couldn’t stop taking pictures of you. It was quite out of the ordinary for Toji, who rarely ever customized anything on his phone or computer, when he finally took it upon himself to learn such things, pasting your image everywhere he could. His new favorite pastime during breaks at work was scrolling through his pictures of you (some of which were taken in the last 5 hours), saving them in a special folder and smiling to himself.
Your pregnancy in general made him clingy. Along with the pictures, he cut his hours at work and stayed home to assist you, which was appreciated but put a hindrance in your housework. Toji would stand around watching you do everything from unloading the dishwasher to changing the sheets on the bed, leaning against the wall as he tried to lock eyes much to your dismay.
Fully confident in your ability to do such things, he still found himself keeping a much closer eye on you, only comforted when he was in the same house and could hear, if not see, you. Toji had already began to realize this himself, that it wasn’t an increase in safety concern that caused his behavior. While he always wanted to have eyes on you, to make sure you were out of harm’s way regardless of your pregnancy, there was something he missed so much when he was away from you.
Watching you cover your swollen tummy with a nightgown, one he picked out specially for you on a shopping trip. It sinched in high, right above the bump that was evident and growing larger each day. Seeing the light apprehension you had when bending down to pick things up, and hearing the compliments your friends gave you whenever they saw you, asking how the baby was coming along. Little things were a constant, and appreciated reminder for him that the two of you were building your family together. Something he loved more than anything.
Because of this, your husband stopped doing his regular outings all together. Usually he would go out to watch sports and drink with his friends at least once a week or so. Him being gone gave you more time without him interrupting your chores, and he was careful with you in mind. But this new Toji, that was a soon-to-be father, figured he could just watch the game on the TV and didn’t need to go out anymore despite your protests.
“It would save us money, we should be saving up for the nursery,” Toji argued, sitting down on the couch. “I know, honey, but…,” you tried to explain to him, just how annoying he had been. Staring at you all the time, offering you a hand for every minuscule task the moment you had any difficulty with it. Reaching up ahead of you to the top cabinet and grabbing the bowl you were trying to get, when there was a stepping stool right next to you.
It made you embarrassed, really. His eyes always so sharp, the way he looked at you every time you mistakenly fell into his trap, breaking your three minute personal best at ignoring him properly. Your cheeks heated up each time, scoffing a little as you turned back to the dirty dishes in the sink. It was truly bothersome (in some ways more than others).
And so, it led to his great discovery of at-home sports streaming. Toji was sprawled out on the loveseat everyday, after he got home from work. Carefully using up his extra home hours, after you persistently told him to give you some space.
While Toji enjoyed his free time, you, on the other hand, were doing laundry. The warmth of a fresh dry load, coupled with the absence of breathing down your neck, allowed you to relax for a brief moment. You piled all the clothes into a large basket, making your way down the hallway to the living room, where you usually folded it.
Except… Toji was there. You turned around, hearing the voice of a dull commentator surely explaining something interesting, though what it was you didn’t know. Your house didn’t have too many rooms, and usually the bedroom or even the laundry room would work just fine for folding… if you could bend down well enough. Sitting down on the edge of the bed, your feet barely touched the floor from how high up it was. Bending down over the bump was impossible to do comfortably, and the task could only be done at all if you leaned down to the side and awkwardly grabbed at the basket below while maintaining your balance.
After a few more attempts, you figured out that there wasn’t enough room on the floor and sitting like that wasn’t very comfortable for long periods of time either. You were reminded why the living room had been your favorite for doing this task, the couch was low enough and comfortable to sit on, with space for folded clothes on the side.
Holding the basket with two hands, you stood in the hallway watching around the corner to observe your husband’s movements. Toji was lounging comfortably, with one arm laid across the top of the couch. His legs were spread wide, covering most of the seating area. If the game was almost over, there would be no reason to ask him to move… or so you thought.
The two of you were in reverse positions, your eyes almost trying to lock with his as you admired them from afar, your original mission forgotten as he stared intently at the screen and rubbed the tiredness from his face. Now unlike you, he found your gaze to be rather relaxing, enjoying it before you would inevitably make your move. His chuckle didn’t come from the commercial on the screen, but from you, who was still standing there after 10 minutes, greatly struggling to hold the basket which was feeling extremely heavy.
Setting it down would make a noise, so you finally decided to give up on finding some kind of good time to interject. “Is the game almost over?” You asked meekly, setting the basket down in the middle of the floor. “10 minutes, about,” he replied, still staring at the screen. You huffed under your breath, unsure of what to say. To that, Toji smirked to himself. He knew exactly what you wanted, and was very much prepared to give it to you… but why not have some fun with it?
“Need a little help?” He asked while you walked a bit closer in curiosity. “My wife doesn’t know what she wants, it’s my duty to give her some guidance…” he finally tilted his head towards you, though he had been ignoring the screen since you arrived. “C’mere… lil’ closer…” he motioned at you, as you looked at him confused.
It only took him a second to stand up and move behind you, throwing his arms underneath your legs and back, carrying you to the couch with him. He settled you down between his legs, his body back how it was before like nothing had even happened.
“It’s more comfortable with that bump, hmm?” he asked, already knowing the answer. “I still have to have room to do the laundry, Toji…” he chuckled, moving his legs closer together so you could feel them squishing your thighs. “That better?” you turned your head to blushing smile on your face.
Toji grabbed the remote while you dragged the basket closer with your foot, still trapped between him. “But there’s only 10 minutes,” you watched as he changed the channel to a show you liked. “I’m gonna lose anyway, what does it matter,” he muttered. “I thought you said you stopped doing that!” you scoffed, looking back at your husband who rolled his eyes. “It’s five bucks, a work thing people are doing,” you shook your head in disapproval.
As you relaxed into his lap, you got to folding. Part of the enjoyment you felt was due to your husband, softly rubbing your back and occasionally playing with your hair as you got to work. “I’m surprised you didn’t try to kiss me,” you frowned facing the TV, though Toji could still sense your disappointment. “That’s your reward for getting this done - I’m gettin’ pretty hungry…” he continued his massage, but wrapped his arms around your waist to hold your belly. You would make dinner after you finished.
“It feels good Toji, thank you,” you sunk back enjoying the feeling. “You deserve it, you’re doin’ so good, my wife,” a blush crept onto your face again from his words. “Was gonna ask you for a date night sometime anyway,” he mentioned, “and there’s no time like the present.” Toji gave you a quick kiss on the cheek. “So just stay nice… and… still…” he smirked. “Once you’re done, we have the whole night ahead of us.”

let me see you -Gilbert Blythe xFem!reader
Tumblr media
Request: @ghostlyaccurate [...]maybe they recently had a baby, and reader is a little self cautious abt her body, and maybe she's overthinking abt herself and some tooth rotting soft smut occurs because Gilbert loves her regardless of what she looks like... Words: 1,324 Warnings: 18+ content, oral sex (fem receiving), mentions of pregnancy Twoidiots Masterlist
You're getting ready for bed after another blessed long day, as it has become your habit, you undress facing the wall instead of the mirror.
You've come to terms with the fact that your body might take a while before it goes back to its former figure, that if it ever does, and so you take each layer of fabric without paying much attention to yourself.
It's been three months and a half since you had your beautiful baby, but you still fear any sudden movements will affect your recovery, even if Gilbert insists that your body is ready to keep up with your normal speed.
As if summoned by your thoughts, Gilbert silently knocks on the door and then steps inside once your quiet voice allows him to come in. His eyes are immediately drawn to your figure, a small yet appreciative smile on his face as he approaches with open arms.
"We should rest," you turn quickly, escaping his embrace like you've done for the past two weeks.
"Y/N," he says reproachfully, his brow furrowing with disappointment. "Have I done something wrong?"
"Of course not," you sit on your side of the bed, kicking off your slippers and lifting a foot to rub it. "But we should rest, we don't know for how long will the baby let us sleep tonight, and you have work tomorrow."
Gilbert untucks his shirt, still frowning. "You won't let me touch you, don't think I don't notice."
"Don't be silly, Gilbert," you huff, turning to pull down the covers and sneak underneath them.
"Y/N Blythe," he scowls. "Look at me." He approaches your side of the bed and gets on one knee, gently touching your forearm. He observes you carefully for a moment before continuing to speak. "Is this about your recovery again?"
"No," you huff again, then wrinkle your nose. "Not quite."
Gilbert nods, gaze a bit absent as he thinks of what to say next. He gets up to sit beside you. "Is it about your body figure?" Before you can protest he hurries to explain. "I heard Diana and you when she came to visit you—she was telling you how hard it was to look at herself because she'd lost her juvenile body, and you said you knew what she meant."
You stare at your hands, clasped together and fidgeting with the lace in your nightgown. "Some nights I feel like I've aged decades in just a few months. And then I look at you, and you're still same old Gilbert running up and down the stairs, picking me up, rushing out and about. I feel inadequate."
"That's preposterous," he exclaims in disapproval. "I could not imagine a world in which you do not suit me, Y/N. My beautiful wife, there is not a day since we discovered you were having a baby that I have not felt awe and infatuation."
He leans in, reaching to caress your jawline with utmost reverence. You tilt your head into his touch, holding his hand in place with a gentle grip. "You haven't seen me since I had our baby, my body isn't as it was..."
"We were never going to stay the same, dearest," he mutters. "Even if no children had come, our bodies would've lost strength and volume with time. Wrinkles would come, our hair would lose color..." He runs his thumb over your cheek. "I didn't marry a body, I married to our love."
Gilbert shifts closer and presses a soft kiss to your temple. "I married your heart," he kisses your cheek, "your laughter..." his lips brush lower, reaching the soft skin under your ear, "your soul..."
His lips find your neck and press firm, loving kisses on the spot. His hand travels from your cheek to the back of your head, softly threading in the fine locks of hair he finds.
"Let me see you, dearest," he breathes, gently pushing you back. "You have no reason to fear."
His free hand moves up to the lace in your nightgown and expertly tugs on the bow, undoing the wrapping without looking and sneaking his palm underneath it, caressing your soft, sensitive chest with a featherlight touch.
"There you are," he smiles against your skin.
You close your eyes and press your head against the pillow, his head slipping from under your head and pushing against the mattress as he travels down, inhaling your perfume as he buries his nose in the open slit of your nightgown."
"Y/N..." he sighs, his hand tightening around the sheets. "How I've missed you..."
"I missed you too," you admit in a shaky whisper, one of your hands reaching for his soft curls and clinging to them gently. "My love..."
He groans, kissing a path down the valley of your breasts. "May I make love to you, my dear?"
You nod unable to speak, the air in your lungs too light to spare it. Benedict pushes the fabric wide open revealing your form to his eyes. His pupils dilate hungrily, months of patient waiting finally coming to an end. His large hand presses carefully on your tummy, and he locks eyes with you.
"I worship you entirely," he says, "but this?" He caresses your navel. "This part of you is my goddess. And this..." his hand moves down, slipping past the apex of your legs. His smile widens when you arch against his fingers. "That is my holy grail."
"Oh, Gilbert," you shiver, your legs curling under his touch.
Your husband kisses down your stomach. "You created a whole new little person in a matter of months, your body had to adjust to some changes..." he mumbles. "You're so wonderful, Y/N. I couldn't possibly love anyone else."
He reaches his destination at your core, and without warning, buries his face between your thighs, feasting on your juices. You gasp, bucking up your hips as he licks and sucks around your sensitive bud.
His hands grip your thighs apart, making sure you don't squirm out of reach on accident. Gilbert moans as if he's been praying for this moment to come, and it makes you feel perfect.
The moment you gather enough wit to control your limbs, Gilbert relaxes his hold on you, moving his hands all over your body instead. Revisiting old paths he's left unattended for far too long. He groans are every new luscious curve, his blood growing warmer at the idea of rediscovering you again.
"Gilbert..." you beg, panting with the struggle of not raising your voice too much and waking the baby.
Gilbert teases your entrance with his tongue, looking up to watch your reaction and smiling when he sees your cheeks flush a darker shade of red. He wishes to come here and finish every day like this, with your sweetness enveloping all of his senses.
Your body starts to tingle and tighten, and you warn Gilbert in a hasty whisper, closing your eyes in ecstasy. Your husband moans the moment you fall off the edge, hearing the contained whimpers you let out as you ride out your climax.
You brush his hair back and tug gently to let him know you've had enough and he sits up, cleaning his mouth and chin with the back of his hand, a triumphant look in his eyes as he smiles down at you.
"Like a fine wine," he breathes heavily.
You giggle tiredly, still catching your breath. Gilbert climbs back to your side and you roll to your side, he cuddles against you, wrapping one arm around your waist and pulling you closer to his chest.
"I wish to love you now," you mumble.
"Later," he says resolutely. "You're tired, and it's probably for the best if we take things slow. Do not worry about me."
"I do not worry, I love you."
Gilbert's smile softens, he tilts his head and kisses your hair. "That's more than enough."

Comforting words can go a long way (A sonic 3 oneshot):
It was late now at the Wachowski campsite, Tom, Maddie, Sonic and Knuckles had drifted off to sleep hours ago but despite his best efforts Tails couldn't sleep.
He could only think of one thing...Stone.
Tails couldn't think of why, but despite being Robotnik's lackey Tails had never thought of him as a particularly bad person, not only had he seemed genuinely horrified when he heard about Gerald Robotnik's plans for Earth, but the man had tried to shield him when Shadow attacked them...that had to count for something right.
After tossing and turning for a good while now and still unable to sleep he got up with a irritated huff and grabbed his backpack walking out the tent.
Sitting down near the now dead campfire he pulled out his Miles electric and tapped away at it.
After several minutes of tapping away he located Stone.
The man was located at Kings Cross Station in London, however according to the schedules no trains were departing for several hours and apparently Stone's signal had been stationary for a few hours now.
Deciding he needed to do something, anything to help the grieving man Tails pulled out a ring he'd been keeping for emergencies he threw it and stepped through.
London:
Stone was sitting on a bench at Kings Cross, the station was deathly silent, the usual trains weren't running at this time, Stone noticed several parked in the platforms but they weren't the reason for him being there.
He was looking up at the stars as well as the now damaged moon, he couldn't get his thought of the doctor.
People only saw them as two madmen but to him Ivo Robotnik was a friend...yes a very very flawed friend, but one nonetheless, the two having met back when Stone was in the military, the two having formed something of a partnerships, neither he nor Ivo had been able to figure out what they were and now they clearly never would.
"Erm, excuse me." A tiny voice said.
Taken by surprise Stone looked and saw the young Fox, Tails or something looking at him with a pair of bright cyan eyes.
Stone blinked not sure if he was hallucinating but after a moment he realised he mustn't be as the fox kit was still here.
"Not to be rude, but how did you get in here?" Stone asked.
"I used a ring, how did you get here?" Tails asked blinking innocently at him.
"That's for me to know and you to find out." Stone said simply.
He looked at Tails who simply stared at him.
"So what are you doing here...Tails was it?" Stone asked.
Tails nodded.
"Technically it's Miles, but you can call me Tails." Tails told him.
Stone nodded.
"So Tails, what brings you to merry old London?" Stone asked.
"I wanted to see you, make sure you were ok." Tails said.
"Oh I'm just fine, all lollipops and rainbows." Stone said bitterly.
"I may be a kid but I can recognise sarcasm you know." Tails said crossing his arms and looking at him with a pout that even Stone thought looked adorable on the kits face.
"Alright fine I'll level with you kid, I've just lost the man I loved over some stupid thing I barely know the details of, he was the first person who actually treated me with some level of respect after I withdrew from Afghanistan and yeah you know what, maybe he was kinda crazy, and maybe he was a bit of a jerk at times but we had each other and that was enough, I loved him kid and now without I'm completely lost and confused, do you have any idea what that's like Tails." Stone snapped.
He looked at the fox seeing his tails had wilted and ears drooped back and he frowned.
"Sorry kid, I didn't mean to go all dark and gloomy on you." Stone said.
"Actually I kinda get it, when I was younger I was always picked on for my extra tail and my smarts, even my own parents had abandoned me by the time I was three." Tails said.
Stone grimaced. "Wow, that's horrible." He said.
"Well I've been staying with Sonic, Knuckles and my mom and dad for a while now they took me in and loved me regardless of my flaws, but if I lost then I guess I'd feel like you do right now, I know it's probably not what you want to hear right now, I just want you to know I understand." Tails are.
Stone looked at the kid in front of him, he would be lying if he said the kid's statement hadn't resonated with his own lonely childhood.
"Sorry, didn't mean to give you my life story." Tails apologised.
Stone shrugged.
"No Tails, that actually did help, guess we have more in common than we thought." Stone said.
"I guess." Tails said.
Just then the Fox let out a very wide yawn, it was then Stone noticed just how late it was, he looked at Tails who looked absolutely exhausted, if he was right about how young the kit was he should have been in bed and fast asleep hours ago.
"You have a way home right?" Stone asked.
Tails suddenly realised he hadnt grabbed a spare ring and face-palmed when he realised his error.
Stone let out an amused snort.
"I'll give you a ride home, want me to carry you?" He asked.
"Tha---s." Tails said, the rest being drowned out by another almighty yawn and he climbed onto the mans shoulders.
Stone simply snorted again and made his way out of the station and towards crab-bot as Ivo had dubbed it.
Thankfully the streets were quiet even by London's standards so thankfully they got very few looks.
Stone wasn't sure when but at some point the kit fell asleep on his shoulders.
The Fox's soft snores echoed in Stone's ears as he walked and not even he could hide his smile at the child's innocence, expecially when the world seemed so determined to snatch it from him.
They got to the crab-bot and Stone set the snoozing fox down in the co-pilot seat, the kid shuffling slightly in his sleep using one of his tails as an improvised pillow.
Stone smiled at the adorable sight before setting course for Green Hills.
By the time they got there it was early morning and when they got to the campsite the Wachowskis were staying at Stone could see the kit's family looking for him.
They certainly weren't expecting to see Stone appear with said Fox snuggled up in his arms.
"Relax, I'm just bringing him home." Stone said seeing the alert looks on Tom, Knuckles and Sonic's faces.
He handed Tails over to Maddie who took the sleeping fox with a much kinder look than the others were giving him.
Tails let out a tiny yawn and groggily opened his eyes looking at Maddie with a sleepy smile.
"Hi mama." He mumbled sleepily cuddling into her.
"Hi pumpkin." Maddie cooed before heading to the kids tent with the exhausted fox, the two talking in hushed whispers.
Stone turned around and was about to leave when he saw Sonic in front of him.
"What were you doing with Tails?" The blue hedgehog demanded.
"Nothing, he came to me, we had a chat and he couldn't get home so I gave him a lift." Stone said truthfully, well he was hardly lying was he.
Sonic gave him a look but seeing no trace of a lie nodded.
"Well, thanks for bringing him back...and look I'm sorry about Eggman, yeah I didn't particularly like him, but he did the right thing in the end, and despite our checkered past...I guess I can respect him for that." Sonic said.
Stone nodded.
"Thanks Sonic...you've got a good brother there, take care of him." Stone said.
Sonic nodded and with a brief smile Stone climbed into the crab-bot and departed the Wachowski campsite.

Two in a Bush
Another commission!
They asked for Reader getting separated in a dungeon and Wild panics to find them. :D
Masterlist
Content under the cut!
Wild wasn’t sure what to expect of a place like this.
He didn’t have anything like this in his world. He had the Divine Beasts that he had to figure out but those were giant mechanical weapons. Not some fortress that had a hidden secret at the end.
Comparing the two- he supposes they aren’t all that different. From the monsters, to the puzzles, to even the multiple floors for a few of them, Wild could confidently say that he still had no idea what he was doing. Luckily, many of the others seemed to have more than enough practice and experience to go around. Wild was more than happy to leave the spearheading to them.
It gave him an excuse to look after you instead.
You were a special circumstance amongst this group of heroes. It caught Wild’s attention in more ways than one.
It was just unfortunate that you had zero fighting experience like the rest of them. Not that he personally considered it a fault of yours, don’t misunderstand him, but the idea of being with a group that does nothing but fight without being able to fight didn’t sit right with him. Granted, he was happy and delighted by the idea that you came from a place where you could live normally. It made him jealous in a good way. He wanted that for himself as well- but you would have had it from the beginning and that’s something that he knew he would never achieve.
However this also meant that they would have to be on the lookout for you specifically. Without any knowledge of how to properly defend yourself, it meant that they would have to pick up the slack.
Not that they would ever phrase it that way and much less to your face. Wild had thought that he could take the opportunities to look cooler and more heroic in an attempt to catch your attention but even he knew that it was a fool’s dream to picture it that way… That didn’t stop him from day dreaming though.
Regardless, he stuck by your side as the group explored the dungeon, sword at the ready and willing to defend you if needed.
You seemed content to explore the dungeon just like the rest of them, keeping pace and looking around with childlike wonder on your face. It made Wild smile.
Suddenly, the group was attacked.
Everyone sprang into action, Wild included to take down the threats in the new room. While there was usually only a handful per section, this room had an unusually high amount of monsters. It took all hands on deck to diminish the threat and clear the area before they could continue exploring.
Wild was lucky enough to stay behind the larger hoard of monsters, shooting at the threats to help his brother before they broke the line. He switched to his sword and charged ahead, slashing the threats along with the others until there weren’t any left. Tired, but relieved, Wild turned back to you with a smile on your face.
But you were nowhere to be seen.
His heart dropped and so did his sword from his hand. The metal clang echoed in the room. “Guys?”
Many turned their heads to him.
Wild looked back to the group asking for where you were, prompting them to look around the room as well. Wild didn’t like the looks on their faces as they came to the same conclusion they did.
“Where did they go?” Wind scratched the top of their head.
“Were they pushed out of the room?” Twilight stood straighter, jogging to the entrance for a better look.
Hyrule followed the Rancher without missing a beat. “If they didn’t, then we have a bigger problem on our hands than any puzzle we can find in this dungeon.”
Wild could feel his anxiety rise within him. You were right there. How could he lose you? There’s still more monsters to go through. You can’t fight them. You can’t. He needs to find you. He needs to find you now.
“Oh hello.” Legend whistles, calling the attention of the others. “Champion, were you over here at first?”
Wild turns around and nods. “Yeah, I tried to keep them here so they wouldn’t be cornered so easily if they had to run.”
He doesn’t like the look on Legend’s face. There’s a panel on the wall but Wild didn’t think much of it at first.
Legend points to it. “Who wants to bet they’re on the other side?”
“What?” Warrior furrows his eyebrows. “What does a weird wall with a human shape have to do with-”
Legend grins and places himself in the human imprint. The wall spins suddenly with a quiet whirr and returns to its original position. Without Legend in it.
Wild doesn’t want to waste any time. He runs to the panel despite the cries of the other boys, too in shock over Legend’s disappearance to stop him from doing the same. He places his back to the metal and gasps as it spins just as it did for the Veteran.
He comes face to face with another room entirely and takes a step away. The wall stays the same.
Legend dusts himself as he takes in the new room. He’s looking at the map they collected earlier, trying to figure out where they go and where this would lead. He’s scratching the side of his head, pushing his hat to a dangerous edge where it could fall off with one movement. He looks perplexed. He doesn’t seem to like what he’s seeing. Wild doesn’t want to think about going into uncharted waters and what that could mean for you.
Wild scans the room as well. There’s some more monster hidden in the shadows to his left and there’s a deadend to his right. In front of him, there is a hallway just beyond the room but there’s another exit just ahead of the monsters.
The monsters notice him and begin to make their way closer to the duo. The wall behind them spins again, signaling the arrival of a third member but Wild pays no attention to it.
He still can’t find you so he takes off running, picking a random exit in hopes that it leads him to where you could be. How far could you get in such a short time? Surely he could catch up in time before something happens, right?
He hears the Four call after him but he pays no mind to it. Footsteps begin to echo behind him along with the muffled cries of the monsters as they were shot on sight.
Wild takes a deep breath and looks around. He finds a new spot but there’s still no sign of you, even as he desperately begins to call for your name. There’s more monsters in this new room and he’s quick to deal with them. His building panic and frustration adds fuel to the fire as he channels it into a quiet rage to kill the offending beasts.
Once the room is empty, it remains empty. Not wanting to waste any more time, Wild turns on his heels and runs out as fast as his feet can carry him.
He’s already lost. He doesn’t know where he is. He doesn’t know where the others are, nor does he hear them anymore. His breath is the only sound to surround him. It comes out haggard and stunted. He coughs- feeling a drop of saliva attempt to go down the wrong pipe.
Wild whips his head up, not bothering to continue catching his breath. He starts running again, finding a new path into a new room. There’s more monsters and he deals with them as quickly as the prior ones.
Panic has fully set into his bones as each turn produces more and more failure.
Tears well up in eyes and in his frustration, Wild punches the wall. He hurts his hands more than he hurts the wall.
As in response, he hears a sound. It’s muffled and faint, but he can hear the familiar cry of rage and determination just beyond the bricks and mortar. It’s a battle cry.
It sounds like you.
Spurred on by the sound, Wild goes on the attack. He beats the wall with everything he has before the ground beneath him gives way. He tumbles and instinctually tucks himself into a ball. Wild wraps his arms around his head and uses his legs to try and gain control of his graceless descent. He eventually comes to a grinding halt and he unfurls himself from the positions he’s put himself in.
He is only inches away from the edge of what appears to be a cliff. His heart jumps at the sight as he rolls away.
Wild, remembering why he had tried to get through the wall to begin with, pushes himself to his feet.
A monster cries before it dies, quickly followed by more and more sounds of pain and anger. Another battle cry rings out, this time much more clear than what Wild had heard previously.
It is most definitely you.
Wild looks over the edge hesitantly. It would be great if he had finally found you… But it would be a hit to his psyche if he were to see you in battle. He’s afraid of what he might see. Are you hurt? Are you terrified?
He looks over anyway.
Instead of terror, he’s pleasantly surprised to see that same determined look on your face that he’s seen on so many other faces. Your eyebrows are closely knit together and there’s a glint in your eyes that he’s never seen before.
They’re hardened and sharp. There’s an ax in your hand that you no doubt stole from one of the monsters you must have come across. You look angry and there’s multiple splatters of blood over your clothes and exposed skin. The fabric that covers sticks to your body from the sweat you’ve produced from the intensity you’ve put into defending yourself.
Wild finds himself glued to your figure. You fight ferociously even though your lack of training is evident. He watches you with his jaw agape and his hand on the handle of the sheikah slate. He’s entranced. This is hot.
The sheikah makes the familiar sound of a picture being taken before he reaches for his bow. From above, he aims for the monsters that come against you. His attacks throw the monsters into confusion as they search for the second hidden threat. The distraction gives you the perfect opportunity to strike them back and finish them off.
Once the last of the monsters has fallen, its body fallen beside the others, you take the last remaining part of your sleeve and wipe your forehead. You smear the blood splotches over your cheek in the process. Wild takes another picture. You look up, using your hand to try and block out any competing light and see him.
Wild snaps one more picture, hoping that it catches the way you instantly relax and smile up at him. He hopes he catches the way your eyes light up at the sight of him and the way you’ve held the weapon high in the air in greeting, making it look more like a victory stance over your enemies. He waves back enthusiastically. He’s never felt more proud in his life. “You did it!”
“Link!” You cry back and drop the weapon. You run close to the cliff, craning your neck to your sight on him. “You found me!”
Maybe you didn’t hear him.
Wild shakes his head affectionately and takes a few steps back. He doesn’t see your eyebrows furrow again or the confused tilt to your head. Instead, Wild takes a running leap and jumps off of the cliff. He opens up the paraglider and uses it to glide down safely to where you stand.
You run to him before he hits the ground, nearly tackling him as he lands. Wild wraps his arms around you instinctually, calming his pounding heart now that you’ve returned safely to his arms. You take in a shuddering breath and tuck your face into the crook of his neck. You feel inclined to repeat yourself. “You found me.”
“I wouldn’t stop searching until I did.” Wild whispers. He pulls back and wipes the remaining blood off of your face. “What happened? How did you end up here?”
You smile sheepishly and scratch the back of your neck. “During that first fight, I got pushed back far enough into the wall. It spun around and next thing I knew, I was in another room. I saw the monsters on the far end and figured that it would be better to not be spotted. I snuck out and only ran into more monsters so I kept going. Next thing I know I ended up down here and couldn’t not fight back.”
“Where did you even get the ax?”
“I stole it.”
Wild snickers and finally lets you go. His hands rest on your shoulders, rubbing them affectionately. “I didn’t think you had it in you.”
You grin in return, putting on a smirk. “I just pretended they were customers on Black Friday. I’ve always wanted to fend them off with a stick.”
He has no idea what that means. “Ok- but you had an ax and they were monsters.”
“...High stakes Black Friday shoppers.”
Wild hangs his head in defeat. He tries his hardest to not laugh at your facial expression. It seems as if you know what you’re talking about at least, so it’s a small comfort. “Alright. Come on. Let’s get out of here.”
“Are the others waiting for us?” You take his hand, stepping in time with him as he takes a good look around this new area. For the better part, it looks like a ditch with no way in or out- except for above.
“Sooomething like that.” Wild chews on his lip, switching to his climbing gear. He picks you up with zero hesitation, throwing you onto his back and he begins to scale the wall. You yelp and shriek, hitting his back as he climbs.
“Hey! A warning would have been great!”
“Hang on. I got this.”
“...Thanks.”
“You’re welcome.”
You snort. He’s ignoring your tone on purpose. Slowly, you adjust yourself on his back so you don’t fall off and wait until he’s reached the top. Once he lets you down, you smack the back of his head.
He blocks it effortlessly, leaning in instead to kiss your cheek. There’s laughter on his breath as he checks you out once more.  “I hope you're ready for a lot of walking. I’ll have you know that we are very lost.”
“Are we?”
“Oh yeah.”
“Oh.” You think for a moment and look back at Wild. You end up chewing on your lip as well. “Are we in trouble?”
“You? No. Me? Most definitely.”

Omegaverse but its omega!Odysseus & alpha!Penelope
(First off, let's get one thing straight. They're both jacked. Penelope would've been forced to train in athletics regardless of her secondary gender since she was born in Sparta. So despite being a woman, as an alpha she was expected to know how to race, fight, and hunt. Odysseus learned most of what he knows about war and strategy from Athena, who looked past his secondary gender and saw the promise he had.)
Anyways,
When the other kings start gathering up armies to take to Troy, both Ody and Penelope try to dodge that draft like crazy because honestly, either one of them could be forced to go. Despite Odysseus' "unfortunate" secondary gender, he's widely known as one of the best strategists alive. In contrast, Penelope (despite spending most of her days organizing the house and weaving on the side) has the experience of a fierce and formidable warrior. And neither of them want to leave because they've just had their first child.
So when Agamemnon and Menelaus and co. show up on Ithaca, it's go-time. Odysseus, still recovering after giving birth to Telemachus like 3 months ago, pretends to be bedridden and sickly while Penelope feigns madness by doing the thing about yoking a donkey to an ox and plowing the fields in crooked rows.
The other kings are like "damn Ithaca is super screwed we should just leave", but one of them doubts that both Ithacan rulers are incapable of going to war. So they steal Telemachus from his cradle and put him out in the field. If Odysseus is too sick to save his son and Penelope is too mad to notice her infant child in her path, then they're exempt from war.
Penelope doesn't notice Telemachus hidden in the tall grass, but Odysseus was pulled out of bed by a servant who claimed to see a man stealing the young prince!
Odysseus runs out into the field and rescues Telemachus before he can be trampled. Cue the other kings all pointing their fingers and smugly declaring that Odysseus must go to war.
Penelope realizes what's happened only after it's over. If she had figured out their trick sooner, she would've veered the plow away in order to save her son and to protect her omega from going to Troy.
But it's too late.
Odysseus admits that his illness was a ruse, but he keeps up the act about Penelope being mad. He doesn't want to risk the kings suggesting that he and Penelope both go. After all, the other kings are evenly divided in opinion; half want Odysseus for his mind despite his "inferior" omega nature, while the other half want Penelope for her prowess despite her being a woman. (After all, she did spend like a whole day pushing a plow without rest.)
In the end, Odysseus and 600 men ready themselves for war. Before he leaves, Penelope tries one last time to convince him to stay so she can go. She even begs at his feet, trying to use logic to sway him: he's still recovering from childbirth, Telemachus needs his dam, it was her fault for not spotting their son in the field.
Odysseus smiles and kisses her softly, reassuring her that the taking of Troy is expected to be a swift conflict. Likely no more than a year. He'll be back before she knows it!
And the rest is history.

Hey, since Rapi got a SSR upgrade, can we haz an imagine with her!
As for its contents… how about a date night set up by her S/O!
(GoV: NIKKE) Date Night with Rapi
Tumblr media
It didn't honestly take much for Rapi to be happy with a date.
Staying inside the Outpost and spending quality time was nice and all, but S/O wanted to treat her to something a little special, especially with the salary they had been saving up.
It wasn't going to be anything grandiose, since Rapi didn't particularly care about things like that.
Just a dinner at a nearby restaurant out in "town", a classic date!
Something Rapi agreed to without hesitation, though that was mostly because anytime spent with S/O was a good date regardless.
And so, at 7:00 PM, S/O exited the Outpost with Rapi, hand in hand.
All the while the couple was being watched by Anis, Neon, and the Commander.
(Commander) "Girls, let them be."
Neon spun around pointing at S/O, amazingly keeping her voice quiet despite the fact she wanted to yell out:
(Neon) "But, Master! What if S/O isn't romantic enough?! They need proper guidance to have a good date with Rapi!"
(Anis) "Psh, are you kidding? With the way Rapi is, S/O is gonna be in danger! They even so much look at another woman, she's going to obliterate them!"
Granted, the Commander couldn't disagree with that last part, seeing Rapi's reaction when it came to other Nikke's trying to speak to them.
And yet-
(Commander) "I trust them both, and you should too. They deserve a nice night out to themselves without us shadowing them."
(Neon) "Hm...fine! But if Rapi comes home crying, then I'll just say I told you so!"
(Anis) "I think Rapi is going to be making other people cry first of all..."
...
S/O and Rapi rode the elevator down back into the Ark, the two of them finally relaxing once they were by themselves.
(S/O) "Let's see...Our tables should be ready by 8, so we have some time to walk around."
(Rapi) "Is there anything specific you'd like to do, S/O?"
S/O moved closer to Rapi, smiling at her.
(S/O) "Not in particular. Maybe window shop for clothes? I don't really have anything fancy besides my uniform."
Rapi smiled back at S/O, intertwining her hands with them again.
(Rapi) "I have a few outfits that the others have gotten for me...But, I think I'd like something different."
(S/O) "Heh, if you want I could pick something out for you."
Rapi blushed a little harder at that, but her smile seemed to grow brighter too.
(Rapi) "...I think I would like that, yes."
In the end, Rapi got a rather tacky pair of pajamas, against her better judgement.
It had cat prints all over it while colored a bright red.
S/O thought it'd be comfy for her to sleep in at the very least so that way she's not just sleeping in her gear all the time.
Truthfully, Rapi did like it, so she figured why not? After all, this date night was all about trying out new things to shake up the norm. This was a good way to start...Probably.
After that, S/O and Rapi had a meal outside, looking into the artificial night.
(S/O) "It's nice to get some fresh air like this."
(Rapi) "Indeed."
She continued staring up, her thoughts drifting to the past leading up to now, but quickly Rapi shook her head.
Right now, she shouldn't be focusing on what used to be, or what could be-
(S/O) "Rapi? You okay?"
She turned to S/O, the warmth in her expression growing as she met their eyes, smiling.
Rapi instead gave her full attention to the person she loved. Now that she had the confidence, she should show it.
She moved her chair over to them, taking another bite before nodding.
(Rapi) "Better now, I think."

Greenridge ABO Series

Chapter 13
It had been a week. Seven days since Reed said he would take you back to Greenridge. Everytime you brought it up, he gave an excuse. He had work, his drivers were resting, he was waiting on visitors, blah blah. Last night, he left for a business meeting at HA headquarters without a word.
Now you were bored out of your mind, wandering his mansion in the late afternoon. You figured you would be nosy since he left you here. You looked in all the bedrooms, realizing he gave you the nicest one out of all the guest rooms. That’s something…you suppose. You turn the corner out of the living room, nearly bumping into one of his men.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” he said.
“Sorry,” you mumbled.
He looked strangely familiar.
“Do I know you?” you asked.
“Uh…no.” he said, hurrying off.
Weird.
You proceeded down the hall, opening doors and finding a closet, or a room with priceless artifacts. Some sculptures, vases, and paintings cluttered the room. You moved on, finding a door with a staircase leading down.
Nothing good ever comes from a basement. You thought.
You found yourself walking down the stairs regardless, a few lanterns on the wall illuminating the dark space. You get to the bottom, no rank smells in the air like the basement you lived in. As you continue on, it’s dark. You feel along the wall and find a lightswitch.
Light flicks on, illuminating the space. You see a kitchenette, a stack of dog bowls, and another door beyond. You open the door slowly, afraid of what’s on the other side. You hear noises as you step in, but from what?
It smells like…like outside or something. Dirt maybe? You proceed farther in the room, noticing glass doors on one side. They looked like cells, just extremely nicer than Lewis’s setup. As you approached, you noticed a shadowed figure inside. You step closer, squinting your eyes.
The figure moves suddenly, banging two paws on the glass and growling. You fall back, screaming and shielding yourself before you realize whatever it was didn’t break free. As you turn back, you realize it was a wolf - a huge wolf. There were several down this hall, a dozen beady eyes looking at you through the glass. You scramble to your feet and hurry out of the room. You get back to the kitchen, only to run into the guy you saw a few minutes ago.
“Hey, you okay?” he asked.
“Yeah. I’m fine,” You pant. “W-why are there wolves?”
“They are Reed’s night patrol.”
“Night patrol?”
“He lets them out at night and they keep watch of his territory, ensuring no trespassers.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. He finds them more loyal apparently, but I think it’s stupid.” he chuckles.
“You sure we haven’t met before?” you ask once more. There was something about his smile that struck you.
He sighed. “We have.”
“Was it at Lewis’s house?”
“No. Um….it’s me…Hudson.”
You stared in shock.
“Surprise?” he offered with a shrug and smile.
“But…how? How are you here?”
“He found me after mom and dad died and took me in.”
“Why didn’t you say anything earlier?”
“I was supposed to leave you alone.”
“Why?”
“He just told me not to interact with you. He wouldn’t give details.”
“But…I’m here all alone…without my pack. Why wouldn’t he want me to know I have more family here?”
“I gotta go. And you should go upstairs to have dinner. I’ve seen you skipping meals.”
You look down. “I’m not hungry.”
“Lies. Go eat, y/n.”
Before you can protest or ask another question, he’s off, back upstairs and out of sight. You sigh, heading upstairs too. You didn’t eat, but you did stay in your room and watch tv to pass the time. Oh how you ached for your pack.
“Ugh, something scared her.” Minho grumbles. “I swear if that prick is torturing her…”
“Wouldn’t you feel the pain too?” Changbin asked.
“I guess. Ugh….I don’t know if it’s good or bad to have this connection to her when she’s not within reach.” Minho groans, running a finger through his hair.
“I would say good. You can keep an eye on her.” Hyunjin spoke, not looking up from his sketching.
“I guess. Ji, you find the address yet?” Minho asks, coming over to Han on his laptop.
“I’m almost in. Just another second….done. Let me just locate the files.” Jisung typed frantically on the keyboard.
Within a few minutes, he’d hacked into the HA database and was looking into the Blackmane pack for an address.
“Here we are. Blackmane Pack. Run by an alpha named Reed Kang.” Jisung stated. “Located on 53790 Woodmill Rd.”
“How far are we from that?” Jeongin asks.
“Uh, it looks like…an hour.”
“Great. Let’s move.” Minho says, rising from the motel bed.
The Greenridge pack, accompanied by the Enha pack, drove to the Blackmane Manor. The sun was setting and soon everything was covered by darkness. The roads were scarcely lit, and the houses were very spaced apart. But in less than an hour, they arrived and buzzed the intercom at the front gate.
“What’s your purpose for this visit?” a man’s voice said on the intercom.
“I’m here to see Mr. Kang. It’s an urgent matter.” Minho spoke, eyeing the gate and what he could see of the front lawn.
“Mr. Kang is not present. Please come back tomorrow.”
“Is there no alpha or beta I could speak with in his place?”
“No. Come back tomorrow.”
Minho groans. He looks at the house, knowing you are here. They back up, driving down the road before parking. He groups up with Enha, suggesting they hop the fence and save you.
“We don’t know how many are guarding the place. If he really isn’t here, he could have left her heavily guarded.” Jungwon’s beta, Jake, said.
“I’m counting on the fact that he would think we know nothing of this place. Or would have taken longer to find it. Let’s go.” Minho explained.
“Min, can’t we think this over?” Changbin suggests.
“She’s in there. It’s like I can feel how close she is.” Minho stares at Changbin.
Changbin backs down, following his alpha.
They head down the street, finding a good spot to breach. Quickly, they scaled the brick wall and began running through the yard. They made it halfway to the house when a howl rang out into the night.
“Guys…that sounded close.” Felix noted, looking around.
“Oh, shit. Over there. Run!” Sunoo yelled.
They all looked in the direction he pointed, seeing three large figures headed their way. They took off, running quickly back to the wall.
“Spread out, they can’t chase us all.” Heeseung yelled.
In efforts of getting to the wall, they all spaced out, making the wolves distance themselves and lock in on a target. Niki and Heeseung reached first, leaping and climbing over. Hyunjin and Sunoo were next, followed by Jake, Jeongin and Felix. Changbin helped the rest scale the wall, as the wolves closed in.
“Hurry!” Felix and Sunoo yelled from the other side.
Changbin grabbed onto a vine, pulling himself up. One of the wolves lunged out, grabbing him by the pants leg - their teeth slightly nipping the skin. Changbin tried to pull up, the wolf trying to pull him down. His other leg kicked frantically, fighting off the two other wolves. He managed to kick one in the face before landing a blow to the wolf who had him by the pants.
He heaved himself up and over the wall, falling to the ground in a huff. He sat there a second, catching his breath. Felix was quick to look him over as the others bent down.
“You okay?”
“You good?”
“The teeth marks are shallow. Should heal quickly.” Felix informed.
“I’m alright.” Changbin reached his hands out.
Minho and Jungwon pulled him up to his feet and they all headed back to their cars. Changbin had a slight limp but managed to get there on his own. Minho was cursing himself for not being able to get to you.
“What if we deflect? Cause commotion that draws the wolves attention away, while the rest of us sneak up to the house…” Seungmin suggests.
“We don’t know how many wolves there are. If we don’t get them all in one location, we won’t make it in.” Sunghoon said, leaning against the car.
“How do we figure out how many there are?” Jay asked.
“We could always go back in, run around the yard and hope we can outrun them.” Jisung suggested, earning a glare from several of them. “Or not…”
Meanwhile, you were currently hiding in an alley, checking around the corner before proceeding down the sidewalk. You had managed to sneak out the house before nightfall, claiming you wanted some fresh air. Once you learned about the wolves, you decided you had to make your attempt before nightfall, instead of after. And with Reed not home, you figured today was the day. So you asked to get some fresh air, laying in the grass for a bit, and idling walking around before they finally were distracted enough for you to slip away. The guards were on their phones, not realizing what you were up to. Before they knew it, you were off the property and heading into the local town.
So far, the streets were quite desolate, a few cars driving by here and there. Each one made you tense as you worried it was Reed or his men, hiding into an alley or shadow every time. You also jumped at the howl of wolves heard in the distance. They must be the ones Reed kept at his disposal.
As you walked, you kept your hands tucked under your arms. It was chilly and you regretted not wearing a jacket before running off. It probably would have made it obvious since it was warm before the sun set but you could have made an excuse.
Turning down a street, you hoped to come across someone, anyone, who could take you home. Or maybe you could at least find a place to stay for the night so you wouldn’t be out in the cool autumn air. You followed the sounds of people and came across a pub. There were loads of people inside, loud and boisterous as they laughed and drank. At least they would probably be too drunk to notice you (or remember seeing you). You head inside, thankful for the warmth and keep your head low. You notice a fireplace off in the back and make your way over there. It was warm and cozy so you settled in at the table next to it.
“Hi, what can I getcha?” a young woman asked, startling you.
“Just water…wait, is water free?” you ask.
The girl chuckled. “Yeah, it’s free.”
She walked off towards the bar and you focused back on the fire. Within a few minutes, she returned with two drinks.
“This one is on the house. It’s alcohol free.” She smiled, hurrying off to the next table.
You smiled, looking at the beverage. It looked like lemonade, so you took a sip. It wasn’t lemonade, but it was good. You sipped it while warming up by the fire. You looked around at all the people, trying to find someone who could possibly help you. Most of the people in here were big, burly men that were intimidating. They smelled like alphas, at least from what you could differentiate, and that worried you. Were they like Lewis? Or would they be nice and helpful like Chan?
You finished your drink, now drinking the water as you scoot closer down the bench to the fire.
“Would you like a refill?” the girl asked.
“No. Water is fine.” you force a smile.
“What’s an omega like you doing here all alone?” she asked, whispering as she leaned over the table.
Your eyes widened.
“I can smell you. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.” she looked over her shoulder briefly. “Be careful, they get handsy when they are drunk. It’s not safe for a little omega like you around here.”
You caught her scent - beta.
“Is there somewhere I should go?” you asked.
“There you are!” A guy’s voice interrupted.
“Hudson?” your brows furrowed. “How did you find me?”
The girl walked away, but, unbeknownst to you, she kept an eye on you. She could smell a damsel in distress a mile away.
“I figured since you escaped, you came here. A town with people who could possibly bring you home.” He shrugged, sitting next to you. “Was I right?”
You shifted in your seat.
“You need to come back,” he whispered.
“No.”
“Y/n…if Reed finds out you got away, he will come for you.”
“He can try. I need to get back to my pack.”
“Y/n…”
“He doesn’t own me. I spent thirteen years of my life being trapped. I’m not going back to that.”
“He said he would take you back. Just give him time.”
“Give him time for more excuses? No. He’s your alpha, not mine.” You move to get up, but he grabs your wrist.
“Please. I just got you back…” he pleaded.
His voice was sincere, the pain evident in his tone. You had missed him dearly and were happy to have him back in your life. But it wasn’t enough to stay. You couldn’t live with Reed’s pack. You wanted to live at Greenridge - it’s where you belong.
“Come with me.” you say.
“I can’t.”
“Sure you can. I’m sure Chan would let you.”
“I already pledged myself to Reed. I…I can’t…” he looks down sadly.
“I’ll miss you once more.” you say, pulling your wrist from his grip and walking towards the exit.
You nearly get to the door when someone’s arms pull you back, spinning you around.
“Hudson, let-” You started to protest.
“Go out the back. Reed’s men are searching the streets.” Hudson says, nodding his head to the back door.
“Thank you.” you say, embracing him in a hug.
He hugs you back tightly. You pull apart, heading to the back while he leaves through the front.
Out back, you hurry down the alley, peaking around the corner to see Hudson pointing them in the direction opposite of you. They hurry off and you slip down the street in the cover of darkness. It felt even colder now but you pushed on, up the curved hillside.
The street eventually leveled out, only illuminated by the street lamps as you walked. You hugged yourself, pushing through the cold air that bit at your skin. You didn’t know how long you had been walking but your feet were beginning to hurt.
You hadn’t trained with Changbin for long and you were regretting complaining every time. You would sweet talk your way out of it half the days he trained everyone. If you had let him train you, maybe you wouldn’t be struggling so much.
You heard the wolves howling once more, breaking up the silence of the deserted road. Up ahead was an intersection. You noticed a few cars driving through, their headlights briefly illuminating the street ahead. You kept walking, hoping to put as much distance between you and Reed’s men as you could.
You got to the corner, stopping by the edge of the building. Each direction had an incoming car so you waited for them to pass before crossing the street. You looked ahead, squinting from the bright headlights shining in your direction. The car crossed through the intersection and you stepped to the curb, seeing the car going the opposite direction also pass.
Suddenly, the color red illuminates the road, tires squealing. You freeze, noticing the second car stopped in the middle of the road. It looked like the suv Reed’s men drove as it began to back up. You panic.
Shit… they found me, you thought.
Looking to the right, you see the sidewalk is clear, an alley not too far up. You take off running, hoping to turn the corner before they see you. You hear tires squealing again, a roar of the engine following. They were speeding up to catch up to you. You pushed your legs faster, fear fueling you. You approach the alley, cutting the corner and running down the dark path. You see a dumpster and quickly duck behind it.
The headlights illuminate the alley and you curse yourself for not being faster. They must have seen you turn down the alley. You wait for them to pass ready to bolt as soon as they do. The car cautiously drives down the alley, slowly passing the dumpster. Taking a few breaths to brace yourself, you pop out from behind and hurry back up the alley towards the street. You’re nearly at the street when a voice calls out.
“Y/N!”
You freeze.
Slowly, you turn around, seeing two figures walking towards you. It couldn’t be…
“Y/n?” one questioned as you squinted.
“Changbin? Jisung?” you whispered.
As they approached, the street lamps illuminated their faces. You rushed over to them, swinging an arm around each of their necks and pulling them into a hug. They hugged you back tightly and you felt the tears filling your eyes.
“Oh my god you don’t know how relieved we are to see you.” Jisung said, pulling you into his own hug.
“We’ve been looking all over for you. We were about to sneak onto the Blackmane property to rescue you.” Changbin said.
Felix came rushing over, followed by the others. He took you by surprise, lifting you off the ground. You giggle and he puts you down with a pout. “You’ve lost weight.”
You blush, looking to the ground as he looks you over for any physical evidence of abuse on your body.
“I’m fine, Lixie.” you say.
Hyunjin stands next to Felix, smiling at you. You smile back and he scoops you up, spinning you around. As soon as he puts you down, Seungmin is pulling him off you so he can squeeze you into a hug as well. You look over and see Jeongin smiling at you. You open your arms towards him and he comes over, arms going under yours and lifting you off the ground. You wrap your arms around his neck, relaxing into him. Never did you think you would be so comfortable with an alpha.
Their scents each engulfed you, relaxing you immediately. You were elated, comforted by their presence and grateful to finally be reunited. It had been a long, lonely week without them and you were happy you wouldn’t have to keep running.
Changbin and Jisung are boasting about how they finally have you back, Felix mumbling about how you look like you’ve lost weight. But you weren’t paying them attention, instead walking away from them to approach Minho who was leaning against the trunk observing the whole reunion.
You walked over to him, wrapping your arms around his waist and hugging him tight. Everyone stopped talking of course, watching for his reaction. He had been so cold before you left, beating himself up about hurting you. But right now, you didn’t care. He could give you the cold shoulder tomorrow, but right now you wanted the comfort of your alpha.
As you press your cheek to his chest, holding onto him as if this was all a dream and he would disappear, he couldn’t help but smile. He wrapped his arms around you, kissing the top of your head as he inhaled your scent. His eyes closed as he breathed you in. God he had missed you.
You could feel the bond strengthening, your mark tingling as you both held onto each other.
“Wait, where’s Chan?” you asked.
“Um…he’s fine. He’s safe. He’s just um…” Minho tried to find the words.
“Is he still at the Hybrid Association? But Hyunjin and Jisung are here?”
“How did you know we were there?” Hyunjin questions.
“Reed told me. Then he took me there but he hurried me out as soon as I gave my statement of what happened with Lewis.”
“You were there?! At headquarters?!” Jisung exclaims.
“Yes.”
“That son of a bitch.” Changbin growled.
“What happened to Chan?”
“It’s complicated…” Minho starts. “He’s being detained.” “For what?!” “Murder.”
“What? He didn’t kill Lewis. Reed did.”
“He killed Hayes and Milo…”
“Th-they’re dead?”
“Reed didn’t tell you?” Felix asked.
“Not that part…” you shook your head.
“They wouldn’t let us see him.”
“Why not?”
“It’s the law to not murder a fellow hybrid.” Minho explained. “Plus his past…it complicates things.”
“His past?”
“I’ll explain it later.”
“But-”
Headlights turning into the alley interrupted the conversation. You tensed, noticing the other car.
“It’s alright.” Minho spoke. “It’s one of our allied packs.”
You looked up at him and he smiled at you. His expression was soft as he looked at you, making you blush.
“How’d you find her?” one of the men from the new car asked as he got out.
“She was wandering the streets. We got lucky.” Jisung said.
“Y/n, this is Alpha Jungwon. He’s been helping us.”
“Nice to meet you.” you say, one arm still wrapped around Minho’s waist.
“You too. Glad to see you're safe and unharmed. We were all worried.” Jungwon said with a smile.
“We should probably get out of here.” Changbin noted. “They are probably looking for you.”
You nod.
The eight of you piled into one car, the other pack in the other car. Minho led them back onto the main road, and they got on the freeway, attempting to get far from town before they stopped for the night.
You were sandwiched between Jisung and Seungmin, having fallen asleep on Jisung’s lap during the drive. You hadn’t slept well since being away from home and it was already late at night. Jisung rubbed your head soothingly as you laid in his lap. Felix eyed you from Seungmin’s other side, making sure you were truly okay. Hyunjin and Jeongin were in the way back of the suv nearly falling asleep as well.
Nearly two hours later, Minho decided to stop for the night. They needed to rest up and get some food, so he found a motel to stop at. As everyone shifted to get out of the car, you groaned at being woken up.
“Sorry, y/n. But we are going inside, c’mon.” Jisung said.
You sat up, looking around. You get out, following them up to the rooms. Minho and Jisung decided to share the room with the king bed. The rest of the boys are with you in the other room with two double beds. Jungwon got his pack a couple rooms too and they split up, saying goodnight.
You got into the room, it smelling stuffy and old.
“We will be back home soon. It’s just for the night.” Seungmin placed a hand on your shoulder, offering a smile.
You went to the bathroom, wanting to shower but too tired to do so. Plus you didn’t have a change of clothes. So you just wash your hands and go back into the room.
Changbin pulls you to the bed near the window, insisting you share with him. Jeongin joins in, leaving Felix, Hyunjin, and Seungmin to the other bed closer to the door. Laying between the two of them made you feel so safe and warm, lulling you to sleep rather quickly. The two of them stared at you in awe before they too fell asleep.

Sweaty Palms - Chapter One “The Skeptic”
Simon “Ghost” Riley x f!reader
tags: brief description of injury
masterlist
——————
“What? I think we could do with’a bit of a feminine touch, ay LT?” Soap smirks, turning to nudge the lieutenant with his elbow.
Ghost doesn’t reply, but the unimpressed look he fixes Soap with says enough. The briefing room is quiet, besides the scot’s incessant chatter, a few quips from Gaz and the rhythmic hum of the projector. The cool winter air slips through the poorly insulated window, but to Ghost the room couldn’t feel warmer.
There is undeniably an air of… excitement? Maybe that’s not the right word, it’s anticipatory, like the bit before a roller coaster drops, or the moment before a bomb detonates. Either way, Ghost isn’t thrilled.
The masked man tunes out the sargeants as he stares at the door, as if he could telepathically explode the next person who dared to enter with his glare alone.
When Price broke the news to them, they could all practically feel the blood clot forming in the lieutenant’s forehead.
The first thought to the man’s mind was simply, why? We are doing just fine without anyone else’s help, I’ve stitched myself more times than I can bloody count.
Secondly, how? Ghost would trust Price’s judgement with his life, he has, literally, but this? How could he allow this? Price knows better than anyone: one wrong element could throw everything off. A stranger in their ranks is a liability waiting to happen. What if she’s an enemy undercover? What if worse she’s incompetent? What would they-
Ghost’s thoughts are abruptly interrupted by the click of the door handle. Any lingering conversation is brought to an abrupt stop as the team’s eyes snap to the front of the room.
In walks Price, followed closely behind by Honey. The sound of their boots echoed sharply in the quiet briefing room. Honey walked in with a steady confident stride- not cocky, but assured. Her millitary-issued white compression shirt clung to her frame, the camo pants snug around her hips, emphasising her- okay enough. Ghost’s jaw tightens as he forces his gaze upward. She was shorter than the rest of them, shorter than him by a good head, Ghost feels his boots shift in irritation, how is she going to keep up?
They both stand at the front of the room, their figures cast in the faint blue glow of the projector. Price didn’t waste time, his voice cuts through the silence like the crack of a whip, listing off information Ghost already knew.
The lieutenant had all but demanded to read her file, Price (albiet hesitantly seeing the man’s less than cheerful disposition) handed over her file. Ghost had read it more times than he’d care to admit, trying to pick apart every line and word for some sign of… well he’s not sure what, but something. He could recite the information like a parishioner knew the words of the liturgy.
Sargeant Honey, Jesus what kind of name is that?
Green Beret, American.
Combat Medic, Useless.
grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, oh, really, American.
SERE training, Tactical Emergency Medical Support, cross training in close quarters combat and weapons proficiency…
Even Ghost had to admit, at some level she was impressive, especially for a woman. Regardless, none of this brought the man any comfort, if anything, this was going to make her harder to shake.
As Price continued to speak, a light tap on his thigh yet again interrupted his inner hate-monologuing. Ghost doesn’t move, but he can already imagine the expression on the scot’s face. Soap was really the only one who didn’t have any reservations about Honey coming along, in fact he seemed a little too pleased at the idea of her addition.
Fuckin’ hell, Ghost internally sighs, the man acts like women are some rare commodity. Ghost looks at Soap out of the corner of his eye, who, as expected, has a toothy grin sat on his face. Well no wonder, Ghost muses the mohawk must definitely not be doing him any favours in the dating scene. The man is a fucking dog, one look at him and you’d be able to see it. This makes him a good soldier and (though you couldn’t waterboard this information out of Ghost) a good friend. But this makes Honey’s inclusion all the more a liability.
Ghost turns his attention back onto Honey. Price has finally finished and turned to her. In contrast to her entrance she gives the team a sheepish smile, her arm rubs up and down the length of the other behind her back.
Honey’s soft lips part, as she turns her eyes to the rest of the room.
“It’s a pleasure to able to work with you all… I’ve heard great things.”
Her voice drips down the back of his throat, warm freshly stirred honey. There’s something slightly awkward about the way she speaks too, like that sharp little aftertaste left behind, but warm, it's undeniably warm.
Huh, I guess her callsign makes sense.
There is something so sickly sweet about the woman, something you don’t come across in the army.
Trying to imagine her in active duty, bullets cutting through her saccharine voice, blood dripping down her soft fingertips, as she shoves the innards of some poor fuck recruit back inside of them. It’s unnerving.
Ghost suddenly feels his balaclava all too tight around his neck, his sleeves rub up against his wrists as he shifts them uncomfortably. The man simply stares ahead, ignoring the flirty wave Soap returns to her. Under the table he begins to pick at his fingernails through his gloves, as if he needed something to stop him from shoving her up against the wall and demanding her to spill, to hear her voice break, to look directly into her eyes and to disembowel every tightlipped secret she’s ever held.
Ghost bristles at the thought, weirdly, he hopes he gets the opportunity.

My Favorite Shows of 2024 💖✨
Welcome to Babyangelsky's 2024 Wrap Up! To commemorate my second year of watching QL dramas, and my first year of actually talking on my blog, I've compiled a series of lists to celebrate all the QL things I loved this year!
Please feel free to take my categories and make lists of your own and tag me in them if you do!
💜 All the lists can be found here! 💜
We've arrived at my final list! If you've read all of my lists, some of them, or only this one, thank you! I've really enjoyed looking back and talking about everything I loved this year.
May we receive even more QL blessings in 2025 💖
♡ Love Sea
Tumblr media
There are many shows that I loved this year and many favorites among them, but this one is my very favorite. This is my show. I could not begin to tell you how excited I was when we learned that we'd be getting a new FortPeat project and that we were going to get to see them act together again. I love them both so much that I was always going to love this show because of them regardless of what it ended up being.
But what it ended up being was a really damn good show. I don't care what anyone says. It was so much more than just amazing chemistry and love scenes. I was writing about this show weekly. It had me talking about the acting and styling, keeping track of colors, doing scene breakdowns and character analysis, coming up with clown theories, the whole nine.
Love Sea is that girl. For me.
♡ I Saw You in My Dream
Tumblr media
This show gave us the softest, sweetest love, mutual horniness, joyous sex, casual affection, supportive parents, and then without even trying, it also healed everyone's religious trauma in the kindest and gentlest way possible. It was wonderful and refreshing and healing to see queer characters have a warm, loving relationship with their faith and have it be something that gave them comfort and that they could share.
Seeing Ai just casually sitting in a cathedral to find some peace meant so much to me. I'm so happy and grateful that this show exists.
♡ Unknown
Tumblr media
I want this show injected directly into my veins because, babes, everything about it is like heroin to me. It's not just a favorite of the year, it's a favorite of all time. It's quiet in this intense way that I really enjoy, which is a quality shared by a few other entries on this list. I love when a show can make me feel everything and god, did this make me feel everything.
I've already talked about how phenomenal the acting is in my favorite performances list but it's impossible to praise this show without also talking about the lighting and cinematography and colors and chemistry because it's all beautiful. It's a goddamn masterpiece.
♡ Knock Knock Boys
Tumblr media
I genuinely love when a show takes me by surprise. I hadn't even fully decided whether I was going to watch it or not before it aired and I don't quite remember what convinced me to give it a chance, but I'm so glad that I did.
You look at it and think all you're gonna get from it is a fun silly time. And you do get a fun silly time! Then you go a little deeper and you realize what you actually have is a series about learning to communicate within relationships and outside of them, making peace with yourself, navigating love and sex, and figuring out what you really want in life, all tied up in this giant sparkly sex positive bow. It's an absolute gem.
♡ We Are
Tumblr media
We Are is the epitome of what I like to call a cotton candy show: it's sweet, fluffy, and fun. There aren't really any stakes, there's not a whole lot going on. It's just a little treat there to give you a good time.
And boy howdy did it air when I needed it most. I had a very, very rough summer and every episode of this show felt like I was getting a hug. It was so cozy and comforting. It was a love letter to friendship and it has my entire heart.
♡ Our Youth
Tumblr media
At the time of writing this series still has three episodes left before it ends and even though a lot can go wrong in three episodes, I'm still confident in saying that this is one of my favorite shows of the year. In fact, this may be my favorite Japanese BL. Full stop.
There is just something so...entrancing about it. That quiet intensity I mentioned earlier. I love how it uses silence and light, I love that every piece of dialogue feels like it weighs a thousand pounds, I especially love what Kamimura Kenshin has done and continues to with his portrayal of Haruki. I just love everything about this drama. Everything.
♡ Two Worlds
Tumblr media
I was so damn excited for this show from the moment I first saw the pilot. It was one of my most anticipated dramas of the year and not only is it my favorite MaxNat project to date, it was my first time ever writing about colors!
The killer chemistry and truly beautiful love scenes were all but a given and the fantasy element was a trip, but writing about the colors was what really made this for me. The sleeper color demon in my brain (which sneaks in when you attend @respectthepetty Colors College) had me looking at the stitching on clothing and the exact shades used in any given plaid pattern to try and make sense of the random and ever-changing use of colors in this show and I had the time of my life doing it.
♡ Love for Love's Sake
Tumblr media
We had this show for a grand total of TWO WEEKS. Isn't that insane?Just two weeks and it gave us these beautiful characters who tore us all open in the best way and left us gasping for air and infinitely glad that this show was made and that we got to watch it. That was my experience, at least.
To me this is a show about learning to heal and to love yourself through loving somebody else. There are as many interpretations of it as there are people who watched it--as it should be--and mine ultimately comes down to this: Myung Ha's best friend loved him so much and wanted so dearly for him to be happy that he created a reality where Myung Ha got the love and sense of belonging that he always deserved, and it was beautiful.
♡ Wandee Goodday
Tumblr media
What's even better than being blessed with the gift that is bunny boy Great Sapol? Sex positivity! Condoms! Advocating for sexual health! The bunny boy being the greenest flag in all the land! Ace rep! Ace rep with a happy ending! BL Mother of the Year Cher! The first GMMTV wedding since same sex marriage was legalized in Thailand! Horny gym massages! Therapy! Title Kirati finally being a good boy in a BL!
And on and on and on! In my heart and in my soul, I'm a good time girl and this show was SUCH a good time. It was a delightful little treat from beginning to end.
♡ The Loyal Pin
Tumblr media
You know a show is special when just hearing the intro music makes you feel happy and comforted and giddy with anticipation. This is a beautiful show. It feels like the dessert table at a fancy, expensive wedding.
Everything is well done. Everything. The acting and the story are incredible, the cinematography is stunning, the styling is gorgeous, the OST fucks. It's just so damn good from top to bottom that it's become my favorite GL ever. I love it dearly.
♡ My Stand-In
Tumblr media
Characters like Ming who are the human embodiment of lead paint and the stories they feature in aren't for everyone, but they sure are for me. Especially when those stories are led by great actors like Up and Poom who can have me in my feelings with the tiniest shift in their expressions.
They had me so in my feelings, in fact, that I arranged my watch schedule so I would always have a fluffy show to decompress with after every episode. It was that intense and if I loved it as much as I did, it was became Up and Poom were that good. I love a sweet love story but I also love a story about people who are DEEPLY deranged about each other.
♡ The On1y One
Tumblr media
Even though I did not watch the finale of this show and will not watch it until such time as a second season has been announced, filmed, and is ready to premiere, it was still one of my favorites of the year. I just can't be mad at it.
It had everything that I love. Quiet intensity and great acting and dialogue and EXPRESSIONS and Benjamin Tsang's face and yearning and tiny little moments that live in my mind rent-free. I just wish it was complete because I love these characters so much and want to see them happy.
♡ Century of Love
Tumblr media
I was raised on telenovelas. I've been watching them my whole life. So of course I'm always going to have a soft spot for BLs that scratch that lakorn/telenovela itch in my brain and that's exactly what this show did!
It gave us soulmates! Reincarnation! The red string of fate! Magic rocks! Wet dreams after a 124 year dry spell! Questionable CGI! Goddess-approved yaoi! And holding all of it together was Daou and Offroad's phenomenal chemistry. I fucking love this show!
♡ 4 Minutes
Tumblr media
There are few things I love more in this BL watching life than letting Dr. Sammon take me on a wild ride, and boy was this a WILD FUCKING RIDE. I didn't come up with a single theory or do anything but cheer Tonkla on the entire time it was airing, I just experienced it.
Every episode was a feast for the eyes, whether it was the acting or the cinematography or the music or, as was usually the case, a stunning combination of all those things. We had to wait so long for this one and even though I wish it was longer, it was entirely worth the wait.
♡ See Your Love
Tumblr media
Another one that has yet to finish airing but that's so lovely in every way that it has already found itself among the ranks of my favorite Taiwanese BLs ever. No surprise considering the team that made it also made another one of my faves.
And it really is lovely, unhinged assassination attempts and all. The love between the mains is a phenomenal combination of healing and horny and the story gives its characters--especially its deaf protagonist--so much humanity and treats them with care and respect. Not to mention that it features some of the best BL parents I've ever seen.
♡ High School Frenemy
Tumblr media
When I tell you I was so prepared for this to be a series that I ended up dropping after a few weeks. The only reason I even watched it initially was for Mark Pakin and then something happened and I ended up liveblogging all sixteen episodes and loving it so incandescently that it became one of my favorite shows of the year.
And it was alllll because of Sky and Nani and that phenomenal chemistry that came out of nowhere and hit me--and all of us--with a steel chair. Watching Saint and Shin say the most UNHINGED ROMANTIC SHIT TO EACH OTHER was truly one of the highlights of my year. The character writing was great, the acting was great, the friendships were top tier. Truly the biggest surprise of 2024.
If the "more than friends less than lovers" shirt was a show, it would be this show.
♡ Sugar Dog Life
Tumblr media
What a darling little treat of a show. It's so cozy and comfy and sweet. I'm always going to be a sucker for "food as a love language" shows and I enjoyed watching these two fall in love over meals so much.
As an aside, I spent almost the entire time slightly tormented because I couldn't figure out who Tanaka Koki reminded me of but I'm very happy to say that I figured it out: Sea Dechchart.
♡ Jack and Joker
Tumblr media
For me, it's impossible not to love something that was so clearly made with all the passion, joy, and love in the world and that is exactly the energy that Yin and War brought to this project and I adored it.
This show made me feel the entire spectrum of human emotion every single week. I was never not excited for the next episode, even when it made me sad. It was fun and chaotic and beautiful to look at and I'm so happy that it exists.
♡ First Note of Love
Tumblr media
This series is just...so gentle. Even though loss is a central theme in the story, it's never portrayed in a looming, haunting way. Matt's presence is always felt but in a way that's very human and beautiful.
At its core, this story is about all the ways love and grief are intertwined and giving yourself a second chance and letting love back in and allowing yourself to feel and I love it so dearly. So dearly.
♡ Dead Friend Forever
Tumblr media
This is the show that finally got me to talk on my blog. I had such a great time being a clown and coming up with theories and reading other people's theories and spending entirely too much time looking at the minute details of that creepy damn mask.
It was a wild ride from start to finish and I enjoyed every minute of it. And it gave me TaBarcode, which was a gift I will cherish always even if thinking about them makes me want to listen to Rollin' in the Deep by Adele.

a lesson in sadness.
Tumblr media
Today was another day of your peaceful, average but happy life with the puppet known as Kabukimono. Nothing seemed different about today. The blue sky appeared endless, stretching on forever with misty cotton clouds hovering above. Villagers and miners were already awake, slowly turning the sleepy village alive again. It seemed like it would be a good, normal day. And a good, normal day was deserving of a nice walk to take in the scenery.
Kabukimono, Niwa, Katsuragi, and you sometimes went on strolls outside the village, and today was one such day. Even though it was a group of you, you tended to stick to two pairs - Kabukimono and you, and Niwa and Katsuragi. The two older men had cheesily nudged you with their elbows, winking and motioning for you to join your lover. They’d let the two lovebirds have some alone time as they walked behind, they said, remarking about how precious young love was. You were going to kick them later for sure.
But you welcomed the time you got with Kabukimono. Lately, you had been encouraging him to be around the other villagers without you. You figured he needed more interaction with other people. You could only teach him so much. Some things in life could only be learned through experience. But it seemed like he preferred to hang out with the kiddos anyway.
“And they taught me lots of cool games! Hide and seek, temari, duck duck goose… tag, too!” The thought of Kabukimono trying to keep up with the hyperactive children was amusing.
“Tag? I can’t imagine how fast you had to run,” you giggled and Kabukimono brightened.
“Really fast, actually! I have a lot of stamina, see!” With that he took off in front of you, taking you by surprise for a second, but you excitedly raced after him. Now, you weren’t much of a runner, but something about doing this with him made you feel like the weight of all your worries had been lifted. The sounds of laughter filled the air.
“Hah- K-Kabukimono! Wait u-up!” Your sprint had come to a halting stop, hands on your knees as you caught your breath. It shouldn’t be a surprise that the Almighty Shogun’s puppet was so agile, but this was on another level. Then again, you thought a puppet would be emotionless, but Kabukimono was far from that.
Thankfully he stopped to rub your back comfortingly like the good boy he was. “Hehe, sorry [Name]. I guess I got a bit carried away there. But you should really join us! We always have a lot of fun!”
You smiled at him through your pants, standing up straight. “Well, when you put it like that, I simply can’t refuse. But I think you’ll have to do most of the running. I’ll just be… backup.” Both of you giggled and you caressed his cheek, while he looked into your eyes deeply. Slowly, you both began to lean in, ready to lock lips when-
Snap.
The sudden noise was enough to make you jump and pull away from Kabukimono, eyes searching your surroundings. Uneasiness settled in your stomach, and you then felt him tighten his hold on your sleeve. Turning your head back, you could see why.
A group of Kairagi and Nobushi appeared in front of you.
The uneasiness had crept up and turned to agitation. You two weren’t even that far from the village, yet somehow they were this close. Usually, they knew their place. Perhaps things had gotten bad for them lately.
“Well well well, what do we have here? Two lost little lambs?” They all had mean, wicked smiles on their face, some blades drawn already. You had a feeling that this good, normal day would turn out to be something far different.
The dishonored samurai had a tendency to attack anyone regardless, but you knew they were particularly interested this time. Kabukimono’s clothing was very expensive. And they liked to rob.
Kabukimono, on the other hand, hadn’t much experience with people outside of the tight-knit village, but he could easily tell that these men gave off a much different vibe than what he was accustomed to. And your face had an emotion that you rarely ever displayed. Fright. Nervousness. The same face he made when he was abandoned in Shakkei Pavilion.
“Kabukimono,” you whispered breathlessly, “We have to run. Now.” You didn’t like how your own fear was beginning to infect him, but there was no helping it.
Your hand slid down to firmly grasp the puppet’s. Niwa and Katsuragi shouldn’t be that far behind, but you should get some distance away from the bandits before you yell for help. They could hurt you if you tried anything like that. Carefully, you took a few steps back, tugging on Kabukimono’s hand.
“Come on, we need to-” You had begun to turn around to run when a large shadow suddenly loomed over you. You recognized the tattered clothing instantly as another Nobushi, and before you could even look up to gaze at your attacker’s face-
A warm liquid splattered on Kabukimono’s face.
He was rendered horrifically speechless as you staggered back, your hand gingerly touching your shoulder, which now had a large cut. Your grip on his hand began to weaken, eyes widening in surprise and then shutting just as quickly until you fell to the ground. Almost robotically, he stared at your crumpled form, blood soaking into your shirt now. When his eyes shifted to your pained face, Kabukimono snapped out of his terrified daze and dropped down to his knees to your body.
The Nobushi paid no mind to the scene, instead shaking the blade to clean your blood off of it. But Kabukimono was too caught up with your nearly still body lying in his trembling arms, unable to properly process what just happened.
Kabukimono had never seen so much blood in his life. He didn’t even know humans could bleed this much. What should he do? Puppets did not bleed the same way humans did. You never taught him about this. One hand was placed on your back, and the other was pressed to the cut on your bare shoulder, but quickly he realized how much of the fluid stained his pale hand, running down from his palm to his arm and dripping onto his white clothes.
He was sick to his stomach.
He wanted to move, to scream, to call for help, but the sight of the redness gushing from you onto his hand made bile rise in his throat. Your blood was on his hands, literally and figuratively. The puppet was paralyzed. Not even the clash of blades could draw him away, or the yelling that was close by but seemed distant. Even the shaking of his shoulders could not draw him away from your bloodied face, barely registering the extra pairs of hands that occupied your body.
“Kabukimono!” A seemingly distant voice ran in his ears. “Kabukimono!” Niwa had torn a piece of his shirt off and wrapped it around your wound.
“Kabukimono! [Name] NEEDS YOU!” Niwa screamed your name, the sheer emotion and urgency in his voice finally making him snap out of his traumatized trance.  “Go! Now! Bring the town doctor!”
You need him, Kabukimono thought. That’s right. You need him. You needed to live. With that, he stumbled to his feet, and ran, ran, ran. Ran despite his blurry vision from tears, and the ache in his knees from tripping. For you.
It had been a few days since the incident, and you had not woken up yet. The puppet had remained by your side throughout. His eyes trained on you the whole time.
Kabukimono wondered what you dreamed of. He hoped it was sweet dreams. He hoped you weren’t suffering in the land of dreams at least. Meanwhile, he was being racked with his own tortuous thoughts, unable to even entertain the thought of sleeping when you were laid like this in front of him.
Useless. Weak. Powerless.
That was what Kabukimono thought of himself as. Sure, he was discarded by his creator for his lack of utility, but even still, he should have been able to do something. He could have punched, kicked, or anything. He was stronger than you, but he could not do anything to protect you. You’ve taught him so much, and he felt like he had not repaid even a fraction of it. Instead, the only thing he could think about was how it should have been him. Then he would have been of some use to you at least.
He turned his attention back to you. As always you managed to look so pretty, even when you were sleeping. If you opened your eyes, you’d look even more pretty, he thought. For a second he wondered if praying to Inazuma’s Archon would help. He had a… complicated relationship with her, but the other villagers always said-
Luckily it didn’t need to come to that, for somehow you answered his unspoken wish, eyes barely fluttering open and then squeezing shut again at the light. Something in his chest beat ferociously as he leaped up from his seat.
“[Name]? [Name]! Oh, you’re awake!” He cried out in joy and almost threw his arms around you, but stopped himself since you were injured. Tears began to well up in his eyes.
“Ngh… ugh, K-Kabukimono?” Your head pounded a bit and you squinted at the person in front of you. A hand was gently stroking your hair.
“Yes, it’s me, [Name]. It’s Kabukimono. I’m right here,” he did his best to keep his voice calm for you. After a few minutes, you had come to your senses, the ache on your shoulder a reminder of the events that you were starting to remember again.
“Oh… ah, Kabukimono. Hey love,” you whispered, trying to work up a small smile to ease his teary eyes. His hands moved to softly grip your one.
“[Name]... I was so worried. You were asleep for days, I was so, so scared. I didn’t know what to do…” He trailed off, voice threatening to break into hiccups. You were asleep for days? No wonder Kabukimono was looking a little worse for wear. He pressed your hand against his cheek, and you softly cupped it in return.
“Hey… don’t cry. I’m fine now, see?” He sniffed and looked at you with big, blearily eyes, nodding his head as he continued to relish your awakened presence. He updated you on what else happened, how your two friends defeated the bad men, and how everyone was so worried for you. How relieved he was when he found out you would be okay.
But it was obvious he was terribly bothered by the whole situation. The young puppet had experienced loss before, but it was in no way similar to the feeling he felt when you were bleeding out in his arms. It was immensely jarring, and he’d never felt so ill before.
“I just don’t understand,” he murmured softly. “Why would anyone want to hurt you? You’re so kind, beautiful, amazing…” The puppet trailed off with downcast, clouded eyes. You sucked in a breath, totally unsure of what to say.
You were not sure how to word this to the young, still learning puppet. How do you even go about explaining that there are some people out there who want to hurt you, in any way possible? Sometimes for a reason but also no reason at all? That some people were just rotten?
“Well,” you began, hoping the words would come to you, but nothing did. You continued on ineloquently, “Some people are just wicked. Evil. They don’t care about what happens to others.”
“But why?” He pressed on. Why, indeed. That was the question everyone asked themselves.
“I don’t know why. I wish I could tell you. But the only thing we can do is continue to spread goodness and happiness instead.” Kabukimono still seemed stumped and confused by your answer, but let the conversation drop, instead choosing to move it back to you.
“Do you need anything? Is the pain unbearable? The doctor should be here should. Actually, you’re probably really hungry, aren’t you? Should I-” Kabukimono worriedly rambled on until you pressed your fingers to his lip, effectively shutting him up.
“Of course it hurts,” you stated honestly, “but it doesn’t hurt as much as it did before. I will be fine,” you reassured him. “Though something to eat would be nice.”
Your partner dutifully nodded, as if he was given a mission that decided the fate of the world. “I will get you something right now! And tell everyone else you’ve awoken!” Kabukimono left the room, and you were alone for a bit, but not for long, as the familiar brown-haired man popped in right after.
“Ah, Niwa…”
“Hey [Name],” he ruffled your hair affectionately. “How are you feeling?”
You shrugged your shoulders, unsure of what even to say. “I’m fine, but…”
“Looks like something is hurting you more than that cut of yours,” he looked at you with pity.
“I just, I don’t know how to console or help him.”
“It might be difficult for one without a heart to understand. Though you have taught him matters related to love and life, the flip side is…” Your dear friend trailed off.
“Kabukimono does have a heart. It may not be physical, but he is far more kind than some of the actual heartless humans I’ve met in this world,” you whispered softly, fluttering your eyes shut. “But, how do I explain death and hatred and all the ugly things in this world without breaking his heart…? I want him to learn, but I fear it may hurt him too much.” Niwa didn’t reply but looked at you with understanding, rubbing your arm soothingly.
“You know, he hadn’t moved the whole time since you were sleeping. No matter how much we pleaded with him, he just refused to leave your side. Didn’t eat, sleep, or even move an inch from that position. So… no matter what happens, I think the two of you will be fine. I’ll leave you before Kabukimono comes back.” With that, Niwa left your room, leaving you to your thoughts.
You stared at the ceiling, feeling empty, not just from the ache in your injured shoulder, but the one coming from your heart. You wondered what would happen when you actually died. Passed on from this world leaving Kabukimono by himself. What would he do? Would he accept it? Move on after overcoming the grief?
“[Name]? Here, I got your favorite,” your lover’s voice rang throughout the room as he came in with a neatly set tray of soup. “The doctor says you need to eat light things to get your appetite back.”
You watched as he diligently dipped the spoon into the bowl and then brought it to your lips. You obediently swallowed the liquid. It was yummy. He continued the process without faltering, like this was the one thing he must do expertly.
Well, you could put thoughts like those away. It wasn’t necessary right now. You weren’t planning on dying anytime soon, not while he needed you so much.
