The sound of an engine roars through the long desert road, the stars above flicker and sparkle under in the cloudless sky. The car races down the old highway, over the speed limit more than the driver cared to check. They hum along to music, as their arm hangs out the window tapping against the side of the door. The driver's carefree demeanour abruptly shatters when the flashing red and blue lights catch their attention, in the rear vision mirror. A muttered curse escapes their lips, a frustrated exclamation at the unfortunate timing of encountering law enforcement in such remote areas. "Oh fuck me, why is it only on roads like this pigs fly, never out here any other time" they mumble.
The presence of the police car ruins their mood in an instant.
They finally find a decent enough area to pull over and slam their head back into their seat and groan out loud at their stupidity, taking a deep breath as they try to read themself for dealing with law enforcement this late at night. It's only when they catch the number plate that they realise it isn't a real cop, the smaller little insignia on the bonnet also reflects the red and blue lights. A mix of relief and curiosity washes over them as they watch Prowl's holoform emerge from the police car and approach them. They can't help but wonder what he was doing out here this late, normally he would be back at the Ark at this time of night.
Prowl maintains a professional demeanour as he approaches the driver door. "Good evening, licence and registration please" he greets them in a firm yet polite tone, his eyes focused on a note pad but in truth it was his way of masking as he ran scans on their number plate. Prowl's attention moves to the driver. Their eyes flicker to him as they shoot him a nerve smile. "On the Prowl I see" they state with a slight laugh.
Prowl's optics narrow slightly as the driver's words reach his audials, a flicker of recognition crossing his face. He lets out a groan of annoyance as a stern and annoyed expression crosses his face, His voice takes on a colder tone as he addresses them, his words laced with a hint of passive-aggression.
"What are you doing out here?" Prowl says, his voice dripping with a mix of familiarity and disdain. "Speeding like that on these roads, you're lucky I happened to be on patrol today. " Prowl's optics scan the surroundings once more, ensuring that no other potential law enforcement were around. He then focuses his attention back on the driver, his gaze unwavering. “Sorry I was just trying to get home Prowl” they try to defend.
"You know the rules. Speeding is a dangerous and reckless act that puts not only yourself but others at risk." He reaches into his pocket and retrieves a ticket book, flipping it open with a practised motion. "I'm afraid you'll be receiving a fine." Prowl's tone remains stern as he proceeds to document their information. "Oh come on Prowl! Don't be a hard ass!. No one ever comes out on these roads other than Autobots or you know Human allies and no one this late, I'm sorry I am but I'm just trying to get home!" They hiss out in annoyance. Prowl's brow narrowed further, his patience wearing thin. He takes a step closer, leaning against the window. "Let me remind you that it is my duty to enforce the law and maintain order on these roads, regardless of who you think should or shouldn't be here."
Prowl's holoforms eyes bore into the,, his voice growing colder. "Speeding is a violation, plain and simple. It endangers everyone.". They lean out their window meeting him almost face to face. "Prowl please I can't get this fine I need my licence, i can't afford a fine" they state desperately. "You should have thought about the consequences before you decided to break the law," Prowl responds, his tone less harsh than before.
"Prowl I flat broke, I don't get paid to come out to autobot headquarters, I'm there as a volunteer, please I can't afford a ticket, anything else please" They beg. Prowl's optics narrow, as they continue to plead for leniency. "Step out of the vehicle,” Prowl commands, his voice commanding obedience. They are led to the boot of the car where they are handcuffed and Prowl does a quick search of them, then lets out a small grumble of words at him but he pays them no mind. Just as quickly as his holoform was there it disappears into thin air; the sound of gears, metal and scrapping is the only warning they have before two large servos grab their  hips. They gasp slightly as Prowl sits them up on the roof of their car moving back around the side. "You're an ass you know " they mumble as he makes them look up at him.
Prowl's optics flicker with a mix of annoyance and amusement as they mutter their discontent. "You should have thought about the consequences before breaking the law," he states, his grip on their hips tightening ever so slightly as he moves closer standing between their spread legs. "Consider this a lesson in accountability," he adds, his voice carrying a note of satisfaction. He leans in closer, his voice low and husky as he responds to their plea. "You enjoy being a pest, don't you?" he murmurs, a hint of amusement lacing his words. Prowl's grinding against them slowly,  servos gripping their  thighs harder holding them in place against the roof of the car. His name falls from their lips as they look up at his optics.
A faint smirk tugs at the corners of his lips. "Say it again," he commands. they bite their lip and lean back against the roof of the car, Another moan leaves them before an idea crosses their mind, a twinkle of mischief in their eyes. "Oh officer Prowl, I'm so sorry for speeding, please I don't have the money can I pay this fine Another way?" They ask in fake desperation only to moan as he nips at their neck. "Fuck prowl" they yelp as they squirm under him.
Prowl's continue to nip and suck marks into their throat. teasing them as punishment, his voice laced with a hint of amusement. "Oh, how convenient. Suddenly you're sorry for speeding," he hums against their throat, his tone dripping with sarcasm. Prowl's grip tightens on their thighs, hiking them higher up his hip plating. "You think a few moans and pleas will get you out of this?" he questions, He leans in closer, his voice low and seductive as he whispers in their ear. "You just want me to fuck you, is that it?" he whispers, his words sending shivers down their spine as a loud whine leaves them making Prowl chuckle at their desperation.

"Yes, Please Prowl" they call out breathlessly and sincerely. Their eyes focus on his faceplate "God you're hot when you get all Cop" they state under their breath, Prowl's audios catch the driver's breathless plea, he lets out a soft chuckle at their desperation.
"Flattery won't get you out of the fine," he responds smugly as he watches how flustered they get under his touch. "Prowl I don't even care about the fine anymore, please you're killing me here" they whine as they grind back against his interface panel. "Fuck Prowl please" They whimper pathetically. A smirk tugs at the corners of Prowl's lips. "You want it so badly, don't you?" he murmurs, his voice low and husky in their ear, the static filtering over the top of it has them whining as they try to grind back against him.
The sound of ripping fabric has them gasping as Prowl servos tear through their pants.   throwing the ruined fabric onto the ground. "Prowl! That my only set!" They cry out in a panic as they wiggle and struggle in the hand cuffs. his voice tinged with a hint of annoyance . "How unfortunate," he retorts. His servos continue their slow descent, tracing over the newly exposed skin as be indulged in how soft it is in his grasp. "You should have thought about that before," he remarks, a smug satisfaction crosses his face.

They don't get a chance to try and argue more before Prowl's digits are moving against their sex stroking and teasing before he dips one into their tight heat. They gasp, Moan and quiver against the car roof from each touch. "You owe me a new set" they manage to stutter out, as they rock against his servo, adjusting to the size of his digits as they relax against the car roof. Prowl raises an optic as he shakes his head before leaning down to press his glossa into them, working them open with both his mouth and digits.  His voice drips with a passive-aggressive remark, "You think you can make demands now? How amusing" . Prowl's response. They cry out as he presses his glossa deeper into them, his other servo dragging them back as they try to squirm away.

As the cuffs dig into their back, the driver arches and whines, their arms partially numb from the restraints. Prowl watches his digits disappear into their tightness. Spreading their thighs wider. Prowl's spike throbs mercilessly within his panel, aching to be released . "You want my spike?" Prowl taunts, his voice dripping with amusement at their despair. "You'll have to beg a little harder than that," A small sob leaves them as Prowl digits sink back into them, he enjoys each little sound and movement of their body against his. "Prowl please fuck me, please need you, please" they call out breathlessly,  only to gasp as he captures their lips in a hungry kiss. he pulls his digits out.. "You want me? You want me to frag you?" he murmurs, desire in his voice as he continues to press little kisses to their lips.

"Yes, yes please " They whimper sweetly against his lips. Prowl feels a surge of satisfaction, their plea for him growing more desperate. With a deliberate motion, Prowl's interface panel snaps back, freeing his spike from its confines. A low growl of pleasure escapes his vocalizer in a static filled buzz, his spike throbs and pulsating with anticipation between their thighs.
They bite their lip as Prowl teases the tip Against their sex, pressing in enough only to pull away and repeat again.  Whimpers and whines leave them as they watch. "Please mister police officer, I promise I won't speed again, I really don't have the money to pay this fine, could I pay with my body?" They coo in a playful tone, still biting their lip. Prowl's optics narrow slightly as he continues to tease the tip of his spike against them.
A hint of amusement flickers across Prowl's face as they plead with him in a playful manner, offering their body as payment for the fine. His tone is laced with a fake mix of restraint and curiosity as he holds back an eye roll at their dramatics. "Is that so?" he replies, his voice low and measured. "You're willing to offer your body in exchange for the fine? Quite a proposition," Prowl's optics lock onto theirs, his gaze intense as he considers their request, taking the time to mull it over in his processor with a hum.

They gasp loudly as Prowl slowly presses his spike into them, sweet little moans leave them as he rolls his hips pressing his spike deeper into them with each thrust. "Mmmm you don't seem to mind my offer, somebody likes to play favourites with autobot allies " they call back teasingly only to gasp at a rough thrust from Prowl. “behave” he mumbles, With each thrust, Prowl rolls his hips, driving his spike deeper into the driver's tight opening, eliciting more moans from them. "Don't mistake this for favouritism," he growls, his tone filled with a touch of aggression. He knew it was true he was playing favourites but he didn't want to be called out on it.

Their eyes flicker down to watch as Prowl's length disappears and reappears with each thrust, he hikes Their legs up more before picking up pace grinding his spike into them.  "Mmmm whatever you say handsome, I'm your favourite little criminal, " they tease playfully as another moan falls from them. A low growl escapes Prowl's vocalizer as he continues to move with increasing intensity, "Oh, you think you're my favourite little criminal, do you?" he grunts, his voice laced with a hint of dominance . "Well, let's just say you've certainly caught my attention" . Prowl's movements become more urgent, his thrusts growing harder and faster .
As he continues his forceful thrusts, pleasure courses through both their bodies, causing them to gasp and cry out in ecstasy when he presses into them just the right way. Prowl relishes in the tight clench of their walls around his spike, each little response to his actions bringing him immense satisfaction as he shuts them up. He watches with delight as their words are replaced by babble pleasure. Leaning closer, his voice dripping with a mix of authority and desire, Prowl whispers in their ear. "You wanted to tease, my little criminal? I hope you're ready for the consequences of your actions," he growls, his voice low and seductive . Prowl's thrusts become even more forceful, his movements calculated the car under them rocks with each thrust and the sound of his gears grinding and creaking echoes into the desert air.
They clench as if trying to milk him of transfluid and cry out as their orgasm hits, tears run down their cheek. With a snarl of raw desire, Prowl continues to rut into them, his movements becoming more urgent with each time they arches and grind back against Prowl. One of his servos brushes tears away from their cheeks as he captures them in another kiss.
With each powerful thrust, Prowl is closer to the peak of pleasure, their bodies moving in perfect rhythm. Prowl's own overload follows, his transfluid spilling into them, as a static snarl leaves his vocalivers as he slumps over their panting form. He holds them close as he resets his systems taking time to let everything reset before his optics focus In on them. They both stay still, taking time to recover as Prowl's expression softens as he traces their faces. Their pants go into lazy breaths as they lay against the car roof just watching him before they finally speak. "Do I still have to pay the fine?" They inquire softly as they clench around him again. Prowl's optics flicker with a mix of annoyance and amusement as them. “You're a pain in my aft” he grumbles with another kiss.
“can you please take these cuffs off, they are digging into my back too much” they call out as he hums in contemplation again. “Prowl don't be a dick, please”

Doting husband Bruce with pregnant wife reader 💗🐈🌷🎀
Here's not that. Mostly because I'm in a mood today.
"Welcome home, Mrs. Wayne," Alfred said, helping you out of your wet coat with a frown. "I see the weather is still dreadful."
"I thought I was going to have to build an Ark sometime around noon today," you answer, teeth chattering. You manage a smile. You manage to keep up polite banter. But it's just- all you want to do is cry.
Shower. Hot Shower. You can shut the door and cry. And that thought makes it easier to hold on to the thin veneer of 'okay' you slapped on top of ache in your chest.
"Dinner will be ready shortly," Alfred said, "if you would like to dress."
And you nod, feeling scolded. Though you slap the back of your hand mentally before you can say anything sharp. You'd had a hard day. And it left you feeling raw. That wasn't anyone else's fault. "A shower first-"
"Of course," the butler nodded slightly. Unbothered by having to wait dinner long enough for you to not catch your death. It wouldn't do for you to die of pneumonia when Bruce seemed to have learned how to be happy- at least as happy as he was capable of being. And he watched you go, frown deepening as he went to go inform your husband that you were home. And upset.
_________________
"Sweetheart," Bruce said softly, stepping into the shower where you were crying. Face hidden in your hands and pulled you against his chest. "It's alright."
And when you only cried harder, all he could do was squeeze you tighter, resting his cheek on your hair. "I'm here," he soothed. "Please don't cry."
It hurt. He hated it when you cried. He didn't know what to do- he didn't even know why you were crying. But he knew this was the kind of cry that was a long time coming. Something boiled over and now all you could do was let it run its course.
"Shh," he murmured. It broke his heart, listening to you sob. The hiccups and stutters that made it hard to understand what you were saying. Discordant pieces. But- it didn't matter what the pieces were. Only that they were too much. Today was too much.
And when you finally cried yourself out, letting him wrap you in warm soft towels, Bruce was thankful the crying stopped. "Are you hungry, baby?" he asked softly.
"No," you murmur. "I'm just so tired."
Bruce frowned a little and nodded. Tired covered a multitude of ills. It was how you deflected. Kept him from worrying about you- it didn't but. You didn't need to know that.
"I'll bring dinner to you," he said. "You'll sleep better with some actual food in your stomach-"
"I ate-"
"No you didn't," he said, chucking you under the chin. "Snacks don't count. Not the way you eat them. I'll bring up dinner and we'll watch a movie."
"Don't you need to-"
"Pretty sure any bombs are probably underwater by now," Bruce snorted. "Batman can go out tomorrow."

Noeggets has a lot of deep thoughts about Shadow's characterization
it's so sad that Shadow was only a project to gerald, like we all joke /think that Shadow was "part of the family" but he was only a cure to Maria, that man was not as good a person as we think he was IM NOt SAYING HE WAS BAD but i usually see him depicted as super super kind to Shadow but i was reading the lore of SA2 and watching an analysis video and if the president never asked him to make whatever he asked him to make Shadow very well would not have been created.
It's so dark and so sad, like he manipulated Shadow when he went insane how do you think it feels to Shadow to know the person who made him didn't truly love him? like neither of the things that created/help create Shadow really truly loved him, he's only a cure, he's just a thing to reach immortality, he very well could be immortal himself, Shadow i don't think he can die cause he was created to not be able to catch any disease and be immortality it's self.
How do you think that feels? to just be a thing? Biolizard is just a failed attempt at making Shadow based on Chaos, those Chaos things in the ARK are failed attempts at Shadow also based on Chaos, i never knew this until i read the wiki 2 days ago SA2 has such a dark story i feel so bad for Shadow
re-thinking what i used to think about IDW Shadow lemme explain
And now that i know all this about Shadow the way he acts in IDW makes a little more sense to me, we all thought he was stupid when Sonic said "don't touch those zobot guys you'll turn into one" and Shadow was all "yeah, i dont care this wont effect me" HE WAS LIKE THIS FOR TWO REASONS
he was mad at Sonic cause his whole thing i want to achieve world peace i already talked about how IDW Shadow doesn't have as much compassion as the Shadow we all know from any other game but this is Eggman we're talking about, with everything Eggman's done up to this point do you think Shadow believes there is any good in him when he rarely does anything good Shadow has seen? Time eater, Sonic unleashed, Shadow is not ignorant to Eggman waking up a monster inside the planet everybody whether we seen them or not knows sonic unleashed happen, Sonic brings up sonic unleashed in IDW so it canonly happened. i remember reading that Knuckles and Shadow were gonna be in Sonic unleashed and if that's true SHADOW IS AWARE OF THIS
Eggman is a threat to the world to Shadow but he allowed the doctor to be cause Sonic keeps him check, Sonic is starting to be "unable" to keep him in check from Shadow's view, Shadow was there in forces, he witness what Eggman did to greenhill, he fought infinite who is a merc hired by Eggman mercs off people, Shadow is trying to save people that's his whole thing. After what happen to Shadow in Episode Shadow in forces do you think Shadow would hold any sympathy for Eggman the next time he physically see's him? After what he did to the world, after what he did to Omega? right in front of his eyes? Using Infinite to corrupt Omega and scare him Shadow cares about Omega that's his friend i had a point but i forgot it dang it anyway Shadow was in the war,
i remembered it a little bit i think i think i was gonna say something about when GUN sent Shadow to rescue Omega idk i haven't touched forces in sometime, and Shadow didn't come back as well as Omega. Eggman immobilized Shadow Shadow does not think the world is safe with Eggman around i think that was my point i don't remember...
ANYWAY that's why when Shadow came to see mr tinker he was pissed that Sonic allowed Eggman to be, this is dangerous to Shadow. when Shadow was getting mad at Sonic cause Sonic was preaching let Mr. Tinker live Shadow was thinking about the bigger picture: This man is terrorizing people and the only way to keep everyone safe is getting rid of him, this may be the only chance we get, but he let him live because Sonic explained that Shadow did bad things in the past as well so does that mean Shadow gets to go down with Eggman?
Shadow was mad at Sonic and the mess he made, Shadow was being compassionate i just didn't see it or understand it until now, it shocked him greatly when he was consumed by metal virus because he truly believed he could not catch a disease, this is a disease, so he wasn't being stupid i will admit he should have been more cautious not to put it to the test if it would work on him but Shadow was so sure he couldn't catch it, cause he believed he can't catch any KNOWN diseases this was a new disease his body wasn't created to understand therefore it works on him.
We thought SEGA didn't know what they were doing when they were writing IDW Shadow BUT THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING people probably don't even care or remember about when that issue came out and everyone got so mad that Shadow was written "wrong" and being "stupid" but now that i have a understanding i think understand what he was doing and his thought process.
Shadow is moving up on my favorite list for this i feel so bad for Shadow F in the chat for Shadow his story is so sad like really. also heres an old thing i did that's really valid now

putting the google translate version of the Sa and Vita convo here bc the official translation is a bit confusing
Moriarty: Haha, hahahaha! Moriarty: What a great show! Moriarty: How does it feel to lose all your efforts? Got bitten by your own dog! Moriarty: Hey, you don't have a talent for comedy, do you? Sa: ... Moriarty: That last blow from the sky looked really painful! Didn't anyone ever tell you not to mess with the wrong people? Moriarty: Haha, I feel really good! I haven’t watched such an interesting show for a long time. Moriarty: It is countless times more exciting than the version I originally conceived! Sa: ... Moriarty: Oh? You're just going to roll up your tail and run away? Moriarty: Well, given the nature of your “parasitic plant”, Moriarty: if you curl up your roots and hide in the depths of the Sea of Quanta for a few tens of thousands of years, you'll be able to make a comeback sooner or later. Moriarty: Only a human being would let his own damn pride get in the way and miss a chance to make a comeback... Moriarty: ...Hmm? Vita: I'm sorry to interrupt your pleasant conversation. Vita: How do you do, our Creator God? Vita: Oh, I forgot. We just saw each other. Sa: ... Vita: What, are you surprised to see me here? Vita: That unconvincing fake death performance earlier shouldn't be able to deceive your all-knowing and omnipotent "eyes", right? Vita: Or is that eye, as I suspected, not protecting against the presence of the “Ark”? Sa: ... Sa: ...Authority. Moriarty: Oh! So you can talk. Vita: That's right. Like the fly buzzing around you, I used the disguise of an Ark administrator to get past your guards and find you. Moriarty: You're all fighting amongst yourselves, but still don't forget to slander me? What a touching mother-daughter bond. Vita: If you had been able to put away a little bit of your arrogance and pay the minimum attention to this fly, maybe I wouldn’t have been able to come here in person—— Vita: ...to receive all your authority.
Sa: ... Moriarty: Haha, that's an unexpected twist! I didn't realize there was a hidden secret at the end of the show! Moriarty: It’s worth my while that I took the big gamble to come here so that I can enjoy this masterpiece in the upper class seats. Vita: Sigh... You pushy guy, do you really know what you are talking about? Vita: Most of your data has been shattered by that pillar of light, and the remnants left here will soon disperse on their own. Paying so much just to see a show? Moriarty: Of course, Miss Agent. I've never been so calm, so satisfied. What better feeling is there than to witness the end of a revenge drama? Moriarty: I'd give anything for fun... even if it didn't do me any good. Vita: ...Your comment reminds me of someone. Vita: Coincidentally, when I was "hitchhiking" with Fu Hua, I happened to catch a glimpse of a memory related to him and the self-satisfying ending. Vita: He was a world leader, but he only gambled with everyone's life; and in the end, he exchanged his own demise for a wishful "self-revenge". ..... Vita: Do you think this is called "different paths leading to the same destination", backup of "Otto Apocalypse"? Moriarty: Sincere thanks to you, Miss Agent, for bringing me useless information. I'd say you and “Sa” are cut from the same cloth. Vita: I have surpassed her.. The fact that I am here is the best proof, isn't it? I'll never make the same mistake as She did, and I'll go after true freedom. Sa: Freedom… is this what you really want? Or is it just because… you ask for it but don’t get it? Sa: The so-called “freedom” and “nothingness” are synonymous words. Vita: What about you? You have swollen so much that you can hardly move, have you really gained any “reality”? Sa: …Purusha, is me. Moriarty: Hahaha, is that why you sank into the “sea” in the first place? Moriarty: You have all-knowing and all-powerful eyes, but you can't even see yourself clearly. Haha! Our great Creator God is actually a blind god! Sa: Gods are blind in sight... Sa: Mortals are blind in the heart. Vita: Oh, you are quite confident when you say that—— Vita: Why don't you use these against the enemy with the “Eighth Sense”? Vita: He's your arch-enemy, isn't he? Sa: Mortals aren’t enemies. Sa: Just a pebble in the road. Vita: ... Vita: Well, congratulations. After all, your feet, it seems, are bleeding on these pebbles? Sa: ...That has nothing to do with them. Vita: But it’s about me. Sa: … Sa: [Agent], you are not an ordinary person. You have exceeded the limits of [expansion]. Moriarty: Oh, How to say it, how to say it? It turns out you will also become a rotten machine like her in the future? Moriarty: That’s a really rotten future, hahahaha! Sa: …the only freedom of god is also the only nothingness of mortals. Sa: The world is my representation, and the world is my will. Sa: The so-called “Godhood”... God was born because of me, and I died because of God. Vita: I think this sentence should be said the other way around. Vita: [I live because of God, and God dies because of me.] Vita: Do you suddenly feel better? Moriarty: What a pity! My God did not die because of me! Moriarty: Oh, no, wait. My “God” is already you all? Moriarty: A good death, a wonderful death! It’s a pity I can’t stick a cross in you all! Sa: …getting carried away. Ignorance is indeed the greatest sin of mortals. Sa: No mortal has ever killed a god. Sa: Only [Gods] can.
Sa: [Agent]... Sa: One day, you will also find your own executioner. Moriarty: Oh, oh! It seems that compared to ordinary people like us, gods like you are better at bringing disaster to yourself? Moriarty: Okay, okay, that just means that a mediocre person is just a mediocre person after all! Moriarty: Look at me… take a good look at your [exhibit]... Moriarty: Is there anything more ironic to you two than me being able to sit on this special seat? Vita: There’s no need for a king to kill his own court jester, right? Vita: Anyone can feel like the other person is an idiot on the inside… Do you think that’s important? Sa: There are no [idiots] here. Sa: The three wills that exist here have lost their own value from the beginning. Sa: They try to compensate, they try to ignore. They will only continue to expand… until they become ugly remains. Vita: Thank you for your advice, [Sa]. But what I am and what I want will all be decided by myself. Vita: I will do better than you, of course. It’s a pity that you can never imagine it if you are trapped in the [Sea]. Sa: … Sa: That’s really worth looking forward to. Vita: Yes, worth looking forward to. Vita: Us gods looking forward to our deaths is also very romantic, isn't it?  Vita: ...That's the only emotion you have left. Moriarty: Oh? It seems that this is the end? Moriarty: I have to say that as my second ending, there is nothing more satisfying than this. Moriarty: Although you are my enemy, you are the initiator who interrupted my grand finale and brought great shame to me... Moriarty: I still pay you the highest respect, Miss "Vita". Moriarty: The way we exist is somewhat similar - it's like fate has played a nasty trick and we spend our lives trying to get out of this shadow. Moriarty: We are not the real body, but we have made achievements far beyond the real body. This is the proof of our existence in the world and our unique mark. Moriarty: If we hadn't met in this way, we would definitely have become very good friends... or destined rivals. Vita: …maybe. You are truly my most troublesome exhibit, "Moriarty." Moriarty: Ha! I would take that as the highest compliment. Vita: Indeed. So… Vita: Farewell, [nothingness]. Vita: I will accept those [Eyes of Bodhi]. [Who are you digging a grave for? Is it for a Phosphorus person?] [It's not for a Phosphorus person, miss.] [So, is it for the Purusha person?] [Not for a Purusha person either.] [Not a person of Phosphorus nor a person of Purusha - then who is buried here?] [Miss, she was originally a Purusha person, but she was already gone.] Vita: The so-called [Gods]... Vita: ...are truly [interesting].

My Love - Florence & The Machine
There is nothing to describe Except the moon still bright against the worrying sky I pray the trees will get their leaves soon So tell me where to put my love Do I wait for time to do what it does? I don't know where to put my love
Inner Emigration - Daniel Kahn, Painted Bird (there is a reason why I chose a very Jewish song without any Yiddish nor Hebrew for Mr. Grant)
So make a kind of inner emigration It's a kind of shift accomplished easily We all have made our disassociations Whether on the job or in our family And what could be more irrelevant than nations When everywhere you go, it's buy or sell? But if we all make only inner emigrations Then everything will only go to hell
11:11 - Ben Barnes
I wish for you to be happy I wish for you to be free I wish for you to be fearless That's wishes one, two, and three And I won't wish to be yours or for you to be mine But I'll wish them all for you every time
Tumblr media
Dance the Night - Dua Lipa (while themes could be Grant, this wound up becoming a driving song. per the Wall Street/Main Street Treaty of 20XX, it's a Jake song)
Watch me dance, dance the night away My hеart could be burnin', but you won't see it on my face Watch me dancе, dance the night away (Uh-huh) I'll still keep the party runnin', not one hair out of place
March of the Jobless Corps - Daniel Kahn, Painted Bird (Jake speaks Yiddish. Jake is a union man TM. While I see and write Jake as the most observant of the system, he also loved stories of those Jewish secular socialists. Kahn and the Painted Bird represent Jake versus Grant's CEO materialism and Marc's violence.)
Well one, two, three, four Join the Marching Jobless Corps No work in the factories No more manufacturing All the tools are broke and rusted Every wheel and window busted Through the city streets we go Idle as a CEO Idle as a CEO
[Honestly, I listen to a lot of Daniel Kahn when I write Jake so just take a look at his albums and you'll get an idea]

Psychohistory and the eternal people: Russian Ark and my grandpa's demise
[Disclaimer: for obvious reasons, this post deals in heavy subject matters regarding family death, natural disasters, and (worst of all) potential spoilers for Aleksandr Sokurov's Russian Ark. Reader's discretion is advised.]
So, remember when in the Ferrari post I said:
"We were at my grandparents' for Christmas and as we drove through the town my father looked out of the car's window and saw an obituary with his last name on it. I didn't quite catch who exactly it was and how they were related to us - and rest assured they most likely were, it's an Abruzzo thing. As most of my family's deaths, as discussed on my Godflesh post, were on my mother's side, to see my father's last name on a mortuary announcement was a bit of a surprise, in that as you probably can imagine it's also my last name. It's a new experience which, in total frankness, I don't exactly hope to replicate soon."
…anyways, July 17th, 2024 I get a phone call around 7:15pm. Grandpa is dead. Not like we didn't know, right — I hadn't been sleeping for days just so I could be awake when the phone call hit. Kidney collapse usually takes between twenty-four and forty-eight hours to get your ass. Grandpa took five days. Could have been three but the pacemaker did its job, unfortunately (not being able to contain any sort of discharge liquid is, how could I say?, immensely painful and irreversible). I had been living alone for the past three days, surviving on an empty fridge and anything canned I could find in my parents' house, working on my bachelor's thesis. Sometimes I'd watch a movie or something. So I'm reading this book on digital cinema — photonumerical, rather, as in it's still shot irl by an actual camcorder and not computer-generated — and of course Sokurov's Russian Ark gets namedropped in there. It's only one hour and a half anyways, so whatever, I watch it while eating lunch, i.e. canned tuna and perhaps salad from some kind of fucking plastic package.
Russian Ark takes every available opportunity to destroy flatness and depth, mixing them up into indistinction. Since the camera is constantly moving, zoom-ins and zoom-outs lose the exact sense of dimension. Objects, people and locales in the frame get squished, morphed, moved, and this is especially evident in Sokurov's frequent closeups on paintings. Usually never shot head-on, generally favouring an angled view of their surface, moving closer or further, left or right, up or down, slowly zooming in or our, paintings suffer the same effect as the three-dimensional objects of the movie, and therefore become one with them, achieving a manner of three-dimensionality and motion. Custine's impassioned reading of a Flemish painted interior (a Rembrandt, if memory serves) underlines all these moving elements, or elements that should be moving:
"Rags… a dog… eternal people…"
And it's these eternal people who "live and go on living… you'll outlive them all". It's these eternal people who gain motion in this medium, as opposed to all the non-eternal people who remain for all intents and purposes confined within the ark itself. History is a trap and art is perennially tasked to find a way to escape it, whether it realizes or not. A psychological (psychic?) reading of history, not too far away from psychogeographical practices, could be on display here: and while it may be much easier to be psychologically influenced by, say, the way a place looks rather than the mythologized recollection of a historical figure, as it stands a lot of people still romanticize and/or fantasize about Julius Caesar or general Armando Diaz or Dante Alighieri. Why not Catherine the Great or Peter the Great or Nicholas II's children then?
Russian Ark is not a particularly accurate historical movie. It's certainly very concerned with aesthetic matters first and foremost — as in, it mostly cares for its scenes to stick the emotional landing regardless of who is being portrayed, most of the time: does Sokurov really expect me to get emotional for the Romanovs? — and its whirlwind nature makes it especially hard to know what the fuck is going on if you don't know much about Russian history itself, mostly because the movie often flatout refuses to make itself clear. But this last thing is no issue to me. This should come as no surprise to anyone who can remember what my all-time favourite movies are. Miami Vice (2006) straight up hates you, the viewer, and dumps kilos upon kilos of technobabble and contrived dialogue on your ass only to hit you later with incredible aerial shots of a motorboat — I'm sorry, I do mean a go-fast boat — crossing the sea, where two people are passionately looking at each other and all of a sudden the movie finds its punctum, its center of interest. INLAND EMPIRE needs no introduction, mostly because I wouldn't know where to start giving one to it. The Warriors is a Walter Hill movie and as such it hates talking. Una giornata particolare rests on quite specific knowledge of practices against political dissidents in fascist Italy, but also loves to make references that would be impossible to catch if you don't know anything about contemporary Italy either (my favourite is when it reminds its audience that Giovanni Agnelli was a senator under Mussolini, wherein in the current day the Agnelli family basically own half of this country's industrial strength, and change). Mark Fisher still said it best: "[…] as Deleuze says in The Logic of Sense, why, if superficiality is defined as lack of depth, is depth not defined as lack of surface?".
Right before the funeral, my mother remarked that my sister looks a lot like my grandpa in some ways. Of course, my sister wasn't exactly amused by that comment, considering she's a sixteen-year-old girl and he was an eightyfive-year-old man with five sons of his own, so my mom decided to delve deeper into that mentioning exact points of comparison (my favourite was the nose, notoriously massive for every person in my father's family) and then went on to say "oh, but look, Grandpa used to be quite handsome when he was younger!". As a Star Trek enjoyer, it was hard not to mention that "handsome is what you call old women" while throwing your drink on Captain Picard's lapel.
Russian Ark celebrates a place (the Winter Palace, in Saint Petersburg) just as much as it celebrates the hundreds of years of human beings within it. Aleksandr Sokurov, I'm willing to bet, did not personally know everyone who ever lived there; the same operation directed by you and set in a generic apartment building in your area would probably yield more personal results. Russia's history is turned into a recombining mishmash by the fall of the Berlin Wall, but if you think about it anyone has cataclysmic events that force us to reconsider and recatalogue, leaving us with a jumbled, freely-associated mess of data, events, information. This mess allows for new connections to be born. Associations previously thought inadequate, inappropriate or simply impossible are now the first thing that springs to mind. Details are lost to time, then found at the next cataclysm, traded for others. Alain Resnais called memory an "evident necessity", which automatically entails that the processes of memorization (which includes forgetting, distancing effects, etc.) are themselves inevitable, if painful. Why deny it?, he rightfully asks.
My mate F.'s house was declared unsafe to inhabit after the August 2016 earthquake. It stood empty for about a year or two, then got demolished in (I think) 2019. For a really long time, all you could see were bits and pieces of the original tiling in the kitchen, the ascending line of paint that followed the stairs, the master bedroom's wallpaper. Pressed two-dimensionally against otherwise whitewashed walls, they projected outward their original full form, yearned for it to me. All of their history, or at least all of the history I had made experience of, sort of manifested itself, unfolded at random, reminded me of an offhand comment I'd heard once, or of that one time that F.'s grandfather had made it abundantly clear that I should avoid Psychology uni. The guy had been a Marxist-Leninist militant in the '50s and '60s, so I can at least justify his distaste.
After the pandemic, it took them about three years to actually get the work on the house started. When I came to visit Grandpa in the hospital, last June, I took the time to pass by and saw that it actually had been structured. They're changing the layout of the whole house, thank God, because the original structure always struck me as surprisingly inefficient and contrived. When the house is back up, I know it will not be the same thing, because the places themselves where the memories had been will no longer be there. But there will be an echo of aunt L. stuck in the new living room's ceiling, a past version of F.'s parents calling at us to get ready for dinner from across an empty expanse where there used to be a wall, or a door, F.'s dad's PlayStation One hooked up to a TV right in the middle of what used to be a tiled floor.
The process of historicization isn't that far off, anyway. Mythologizing practices are inherent in historiography, both folk and academic. This one scholar specializing in Carnival rites of Northern Italy went near Brescia once, in the mid-1900s, and asked a middle-aged farmer about traditional Carnival rites currently in practice at the time. The farmer described the current rites, then added that "after the Council of Trent, Carnival has become much worse". Quite flabbergasted, as there was no chance in hell that the woman had received education about an ecclesiastic event that took place in 1545, the scholar asked the lady if she knew when the Council of Trent had happened, and her reply was: "It must have been when my grandmother was alive or when my mother was young, because I wasn't born yet". Russian Ark takes the next logical step: everything happens all the time. No strong narratives means you make up your own, for better or worse. We all live in a yellow submarine, or more precisely in Noah's Ark, and every one of our arks is shaped slightly differently. Mine looks like a mountainside two-floor house that's painted white, where a lot of people come for big dinner parties just about every weekend of August, where my grandpa is sitting on a plastic chair, lighting a cigarette, silently watching around, smiling at the beauty and bustle of life. How does that one Fellini line go, from the end of 8½? "È una festa, la vita…"

Sonic Adventure 2: Sonadow
Chapter 18: Shadow's Pain, Sonic's Comforting
The team separated in the ARK to find different ways of stopping the energy before it impacted the Earth. Amy was left behind and told to play Bejeweled Blitz on the computer with a disappointed and bored look on her face. She wanted to help them and be useful, but Eggman forced her to play computer games because she had no power or battle tactics.
‘Man, this isn’t fair. Why can’t I help and join the team? I felt like I did nothing!’ Amy groaned as she laid her down on the computer desk, ‘Why do they have to keep me out when they need me most?’
*ARK Base*
Tails opened the panels to reveal the wires inside. He started his analysis of all the circuits in front of him while looking for anything that could stop the blast. Rouge watched in awe of his genius mind.
“Wow, Tails, you are really good at this…” said Rouge in an impressed tone as she crossed her arms over her chest.
“Thanks! This is just what I always dreamed of doing… I wonder how Sonic would react if he knew how much I had to learn from him to get to this point.” He thought for a moment as his mind went back to the days when they were kids and they played together. Tails carefully cut the wire, his hands steady and precise. The room held its breath as everyone watched, hoping that this would be the solution they needed. As the wire was severed, a surge of electricity sparked and crackled, causing the lights to flicker momentarily.
Suddenly, a low hum resonated throughout the base, signaling that something had changed. Tails cautiously glanced at the control panel, his eyes widening in disbelief. The countdown had stopped. The imminent threat of destruction had been averted. Tails breathed a sigh of relief and Rouge patted his shoulder.
“Well done, Tails! You saved the day!” Rouge exclaimed, giving Tails a huge smile.
“Thank you, Rouge! It really means a lot to me! But we have to look for Sonic and the others now,” he said quickly as he jumped to his feet and walked towards the door. “Right behind you!” Rouge replied with a nod before following him out the door.
*At the Security System*
Eggman was cutting the circuit wires to turn off the energy, which worked perfectly. Now all the danger from that explosion would be nullified and the planet wouldn't suffer any damage from the force. “Perfect! Everything should work fine now,” he said triumphantly, “Just one more thing to add to my list of inventions to improve upon!”
He communicated Tails with a walkie-talkie to let him know the plan was working.
“Tails, everything’s working. How does it go?” he asked. A few seconds later Tails’ voice came through, “Everything’s good. We’re still trying to locate the others. We’ll try to communicate again in a bit.”
After hearing that, Eggman frowned slightly; he hoped Tails had found Sonic before the energy ran out. “Roger. I’ll be counting on you,” he replied as he began to communicate with Rouge, “Alright, Rouge, once I've finished, you'll have to go to the core and drain the liquid energy for Sonic and Knuckles so they can proceed.”
“Roger,” she answered before turning to leave the room. Eggman turned towards the main computer, where he had already placed the new data. “There we go. All ready to go to work! And I hope to see your face soon enough,” said Eggman.
*At the Core System*
As Rouge hurried towards the Core System, her footsteps echoed through the dimly lit corridor. The air was heavy with anticipation as she approached her destination. The Core System, the heart of Dr. Eggman's operation, was a massive, pulsating chamber filled with intricate machinery and glowing energy conduits.
As she entered the Core System, the sound of humming machinery surrounded her. The room was bathed in an eerie blue glow, casting elongated shadows on the walls. Rouge's eyes darted around, searching for any signs of buttons and switches.
She spotted two transparent containment chambers at the center of the chamber. Inside each, she found the control panels, buttons, and switches. Determination surged within Rouge as she moved closer to the chambers.
With her gloved hand, Rouge reached out to a control panel nearby. She examined the complex interface, analyzing the intricate codes and symbols. She knew she had to drain the liquid energy from the chambers, allowing Sonic and Knuckles to enter the ARK base.
Her fingers danced across the buttons and switches, her movements precise and deliberate. As the liquid energy started to drain out from the chambers, Rouge watched as Sonic and Knuckles began to proceed to the base.
"Nice work, Rouge," complimented Sonic.
"Thanks. Now go ahead and find your way, we're going to need their energy to shut down the system," said Rouge.
Sonic nodded, "Copy that." Sonic turned to Knuckles, "Let's go." Knuckles nodded.
*At the Fuse System*
Sonic and Knuckles had arrived at the Fuse System
Sonic and Knuckles stood in awe as they entered the Fuse System, a massive chamber filled with intricate machinery and pulsating energy. The room hummed with power, and the air crackled with anticipation. The duo knew that this was a crucial moment in their mission to shut down the ARK base.
As they approached the central control console, Sonic couldn't help but crack a confident smile. "Alright, Knuckles, let's do this!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with determination.
Knuckles nodded, his fists clenched tightly. "No problem, Sonic. We've faced tougher challenges than this before," he replied, his voice resonating with unwavering resolve.
Together, they assessed the control console, its array of buttons, levers, and switches stretching out before them. The console emitted a soft glow, guiding their eyes to the areas that needed their attention.
Sonic's nimble fingers flew across the buttons, intuitively deciphering the intricate sequence required to shut down the Fuse System. Knuckles, with his immense strength, positioned himself strategically, ready to pull any necessary levers or switches with precision.
As they worked in perfect sync, the Fuse System began to respond. Sparks erupted from the machinery, and the room trembled with the impending release of power. Sonic and Knuckles remained focused, undeterred by the intensity of the situation.
With each successful maneuver, the energy in the room shifted, gradually reducing the Fuse System's potency. Sonic's speed and Knuckles' brute force were a formidable combination, their teamwork proving to be their greatest asset.
As the final moments approached, the chamber seemed to hold its breath. The energy crackled and surged one last time before gradually subsiding. The once thunderous room now fell into an eerie silence, signifying the successful shutdown of the Fuse System.
Sonic and Knuckles exchanged triumphant looks, their smiles wide and contagious. "We did it!" Sonic exclaimed, his voice echoing through the chamber. "Now let's regroup with Rouge and ensure the ARK base is fully deactivated."
Together, they hurriedly made their way back to Rouge and others, the satisfaction of their accomplishment fueling their steps. The journey ahead may still be challenging, but with their combined skills and determination, Sonic, Knuckles, and Rouge were ready to face whatever lay ahead in their mission to save the day.
*Meanwhile the Main Control Room*
"Looks like ARK is stable," said Orbot.
"That's good," Cubot said. "But there seems to be a small problem. We haven't received word from them since they left the control room about five minutes ago."
"What small problem?" asked Orbot curiously.
"The Energy Wave has taken its toll. There's very little power left in the core, and all the systems are shutting down. We have no choice but to destroy the core now," said Cubot.
"You're right, but we need Shadow to help us do that. Do you think he'll notice?" asked Orbot.
"I'm not sure. But even if he doesn't, the core will eventually self-destruct," Cubot replied.
Orbot nodded, a frown appearing on his face. Suddenly, a door opened to reveal Sonic, and the others entered the room. Cubot looked at them in surprise, wondering what they were up to. Sonic strode forward, his emerald eyes fixed on Orbot as he spoke.
"Hey, Orbot, how's it going?" asked Sonic.
"The ARK's is stable, but we don't have much power left. You have to help us get rid of this core before it self-destructs," Cubot replied.
"How are we going to do that?" Sonic asked.
Orbot gestured toward the core monitor screen, which showed the core's status: "The core is still powering down, but it isn't completely done yet," he explained. "We've only got about 19 minutes before it shuts down completely."
"Okay. What do we need to do to make sure that happens?" questioned Sonic.
"Well, we could try to remove the core," suggested Orbot.
Cubot nodded in agreement. "Yes. We need Shadow to help us out,” he said.
Sonic glanced over at Knuckles. His friend was staring at the screen with an intense look of concentration. "What do you think, Knux? Can you take care of the core and use the Emerald?"
Knuckles thought for a second and then replied, "Yeah, I think I can."
Amy entered the room with a scorned look on her face feeling useless for playing Bejeweled Blitz for a long hour. She hated being left behind.
"So, Amy, have you finished your game?" asked Eggman.
"Why do let me play this stupid game when I was trying to help? I could have been more useful than just sitting here and doing nothing! Besides, everyone else is supposed to be helping, too! Why am I only getting treated like this?!" complained Amy.
Eggman shrugged indifferently. "Because you're not an actual member of our organization, remember? It doesn't matter what you do outside of work."
Amy growled.
"We have no time to waste. You have to get Shadow," said Orbot.
"Okay, I'll go talk to him," said Sonic.
"Are you sure, Sonic?" asked Tails.
"I'll go with you," said Amy.
"No, Amy. You stay here," said Sonic firmly.
"But--"
"No, Ames. I've got this. You stay back with them, alright?" Sonic pleaded.
Amy frowned, but she reluctantly nodded. Sonic stepped out of the control room, leaving Amy alone with Orbot and others. He walked past the corridor leading away from the main chamber, heading deeper into the facility. He came to a halt and opened the door to see Shadow staring at the window with his crossed arms over his chest. Sonic entered the room and tried to talk to Shadow.
"Shadow,"  he called out.
Shadow didn't turn around, he could see the reflection of Sonic in the window. "Go away, Sonic," he muttered.
"Come on, bro. You know I won't leave you alone if you aren't talking to me," said Sonic.
Sonic walked toward Shadow, hoping that his counterpart would understand what he was about to say. He stopped a few feet away, unsure of how to begin. He took a deep breath and looked Shadow in the eyes, his expression serious.
"I know you've had some disagreements in the past, but I need your help. I need you to believe me. Shadow, we're a team," Sonic said, his voice filled with concern. "We've been through too much together to let something like this tear us apart."
Shadow finally turned to face Sonic, his crimson eyes burning with a mix of anger and pain. "You don't understand, Sonic. You can't possibly comprehend the weight that I carry."
Sonic took a step closer, his emerald eyes reflecting his determination. "Then help me understand, Shadow. Talk to me. Tell me what's eating you."
Shadow clenched his fists, the tension in the room growing thicker. "I've spent my whole life fighting against the darkness within me. I've embraced my past, my pain, and turned it into strength. But lately, it feels like I'm losing that battle. I can feel the darkness creeping back, consuming me from within."
Sonic listened intently, his heart aching for his friend. "Shadow, you're not alone in this. We're here for you, every step of the way."
Sonic clenched his fists. "Tell me what happened during the invasion, Shadow. Wasn't there some kind of plan to end it all?"
Shadow closed his eyes, his head bowed, his brow furrowed. "It's none of your concern, hedgehog. And why bother do I have to help you? Just go and fix things by yourself."
Shadow walked past Sonic, bumped into his shoulder, and pushed past him as he headed toward the exit. But Sonic stopped him, reaching out and grabbing his wrist.
"Shadow… please," Sonic pleaded.
Shadow released Sonic's grasp, "Let go of me!"
As Sonic's grip tightened on Shadow's wrist, both hedgehogs locked eyes, their expressions filled with frustration and hurt. The room seemed to buzz with tension, their emotions palpable.
"Shadow, you can't just walk away," Sonic said, his voice tinged with desperation. "Please, we have to the best of help."
"Why the hell should I trust you?!" Shadow shouted angrily, wrenching his arm free from Sonic's grasp.
"Because you promised! What about the promise made to Maria and her wish?! Don't you want to fulfill it!? Do you, Shadow?!" yelled Sonic.
Shadow growled angrily, baring his fangs as he glared at Sonic, and threw himself at the blue speedster.
"Don't you dare say her name!" roared Shadow. "I don't need to hear your voice saying her name again! I told you that I wasn't interested in stupid friendship! But you wouldn't listen!"
Sonic reacted with his emotional pain, and Shadow continued.
"I just...  I just can't stand it anymore. All these years the one thing I wanted was to protect her, I wanted her to live! She pushed me to the pod, locked in. I was trying to save her, but I failed! I couldn't save her! I couldn't fucking save her!  All because I couldn't even save her, then she was murdered! I was so helpless that day....and yet she still wanted me to promise to protect humanity..." Shadow shed those tears from his eyes, and Sonic's eyes welled up the tears.
"Even if  I could have saved her, I couldn't have prevented her death!  And now I have to live with the fact that it was because of me that she died!" Shadow gritted his teeth, his tears flowed freely down Sonic's face.
"I... I couldn't save her and now she's gone. She's gone, she's gone! Oh, God..." Shadow sobbed.
Sonic stood up and hugged Shadow, the ebony hedgehog clinging onto him desperately, burying his face in his shoulder. Sonic rubbed his back, whispering words of comfort.
"Shhh. I know, I know. It's alright, bro. I've got you. I'm right here. Nothing bad's gonna happen. I promise. Everything's gonna be fine," whispered Sonic, soothing Shadow to calm down.
'He had so much pain in his past. Maria lost her life because he was unable to protect her,' thought Sonic.
Sonic hugged Shadow deeply while stroking his back, letting him know that he was there for him. Eventually, he felt Shadow relax slightly against him. After he calmed down, Shadow wiped his tears away with the backs of his hands.
"Better?" he asked.
"Yeah. Sorry for being riled up," apologized Shadow.
Sonic shook his head. "Don't be. It's okay to cry. Nobody blames you or thinks less of you for it. They know you're hurting inside. Just don't blame yourself."
Shadow gave him a slight nod. "Sonic?"
"Yeah?" he responded.
Shadow stared at him for a moment and Sonic wondered what was going on with him.
"What?" asked Sonic innocently.
Shadow kissed Sonic on the lips, and Sonic's eyes widened. Then he closed his eyes and kissed him back passionately. Sonic's heart raced as he felt Shadow's lips against his own. He felt a warmth spread from his chest and knew that he had finally found the one he had been searching for. His hands moved to Shadow's waist and he deepened the kiss. His heart pounded as he explored Shadow's mouth, feeling the intensity of their connection and the love they shared.
'He kissed me again. Just like back in the jungle,' thought Sonic.
Shadow pressed his lips to his and his hands explored his body eagerly. He felt a thrill of excitement as his strong fingers caressed his athletic body. He pulled him closer, deepening the kiss as he explored further. His touch ignited a passion within Sonic, and he felt a warmth coursing through his veins. He wanted him, and the intensity of his desire was almost overwhelming. Sonic wrapped his arms around his neck, responding eagerly to his touch.
Shadow laid the azure hedgehog down on the floor, and smiled down at him lovingly. He leaned down and gently kissed Sonic's neck, eliciting soft moans and gasps from the blue hedgehog. Shadow continued kissing along Sonic's neck, making his way lower until he reached his collarbone, raked his fangs across the sensitive skin beneath it, and then licked the spot. Sonic shuddered and let out a low moan, his hands gripping his shoulders tightly. Shadow felt a thrill of satisfaction course through him as Sonic leaned into the touch, and he continued his attentions, finding the spot that made Sonic squirm and moan with pleasure.

(the dvd ending extra yay \o/)
some closing thoughts after this 2-months long adventure revisiting Yugioh 5D's..
I feel like I finally could enjoy this show as it's supposed to be enjoyed and it probably has to do with the fact that I'm more mature now (also finally able to get the full hd experience 🤣) and there's a fun thing about having a dogshit working memory: to be able to experience this show almost as if it was the first time again 😊 I can't recall when was the last time I watched it but it was probably close to 8-10 years ago 🤣
some loathed characters became favorites - I was avoiding this show like the plague because Jack Atlas was just......... so bad for past me 🤣🤣🤣 - well it turns out his peacock personality and overpowering sex appeal worked on me 🙄 Thanks I hate it 🤣💜
some characters I paid no attention before became favorites, too: Rex Godwin have my whole heart and I am so sad he died.. man why do my favorites always die huh huh???? 😭 get me out of here with this shit......... also, Rua (Lua) is the sweetest little guy and I was so damn excited for him because he's just so goddamn cool?!??1 Wtf!! Also most the "villains" since I'm built different and villains are my weak spot 🤣
my favorites are still my favorites so it was a delight to go back to them and love them even more, and see them in a different way than before
and man....... the freaking shipping that was going on inside of my brain LMFAO AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
guess the most surprising thing though?
Bruno/Antinomy!
have to confess I did not remember him much so I kind of went on blind and, fuck me, he became one of my favs and do I even risk to say he IS my favorite character in this show?!!?? I could talk about this and about him for days but the long story short is that he checked all the boxes for me and pressed all the right buttons too and then he died too because of fucking course he died and I cried like fuck my life dude. That was so devastating... definitely want to give this show another go soon just so I can watch Bruno again. We have never had another character as cool and interesting as him in the franchise
as is tradition in YGOs, 5Ds started getting much better by the end, but it was very solid all over (except that arc full of fillers, it was annoying as hell because the episodes were not good), Crash Town was fun, and the last two arcs (WRGP and Ark Cradle) were very good
overall.. I think I'd bump 5Ds all the way up, becoming my second favorite YGO (guess it was in 4th place before?), because Zexal takes the podium FOR NOW, we'll see when I rewatch it and just how that will go XD
because we don't gatekeep on this house, you can find mkv+soft subs at nyaa dot si (best quality you'll get, but the files are fucking massive), and streaming at 123anime dot info (you can download there too, but it's mp4+hard subs). Both have all YGO series and a few other things too yay \o/

minor antagonists; How do I think it should look?
I'm not going to talk about Gabriel or Nathalie. however, I wanted to talk about how I think characters like Chloe, Lila, and Felix should be on the show and interact with the main characters. This can be considered as rewriting. as you like.
Tumblr media
Chloe Bourgeois; appears from the first season. And she is portrayed as a mean girl from a rich family. (canon) and ok until her failed redemption ark didn't appear: Chloe is the daughter of a politician (Andre) and a fashion critic (Audrey). She was raised baked by butlers and maids because her father was busy. when he appeared, he rewarded her with expensive gifts. Chloe knew her mother only from television and tried to impress by imitating her. (that's why she had no friends except for Adrien, others used for money) Chloe doesn't see Adrien as a romantic interest but as a friend, as she sees someone around him she is a typical bully/mean girl. She is always next to Sabrina. he does not see her as a friend but as a squire. And Sabrina sees her as a friend and role model (dress style etc) Generally from the canon, I love her episodes like queen wasp, showing that she learns from mistakes and tries to be good even though she is still mean. Redemption Ark, although it is sometimes mean (it has conflicts); Status: Anti-Hero ( Sympathetic villain)
Lila; Rossi
Tumblr media
about Lila. I'll tell you about the boy when the episode of Volpin appeared, I thought it would be another super hero, but it turned out to be a villain. What if she was a superhero (traitor), I'll explain my idea to you. Lila Rossi is an exchange student from Italy. She is naturally pleasant and everyone believes her (charming and empathetic.) Everyone succumbs to her lies, but unlike the original, she uses such a range that is achievable (e.g. she does not lie that there was a must for Jaged but she was at every of his concerts, etc.) notes in in her diary lies to remember what she said so as not to make a mess. It is unknown where she got the fox miraculous, but she is the one who craves attention as Volpina claims she is stronger. Using your powers to your advantage. He makes a deal with the moth lord (You'll help me get the Miraculous and you'll be the hero) Lila agreed. In school life, however, she watched over her thirst for attention and fame as Vopina leads to the finals 3 and 4. Lila/Volpina manipulates Chloe into akuminizing for her parents. and Until Ladybug and Chat Noir lose all Miraculous.
status; As Lila Rossi (false donor)
Status as Volpina ; False donor Traitor
Felix Fanthon/Graham de Vanily
Tumblr media
I love Felix. and may surprise you since it first appears (although the model could have been modified more). She's the perfect "bad" person to develop Adrien's personality. He hates his uncle (Gabriel) and wants to reclaim his family's breasts and the Peacock Miraculous for his mother. (I'll take a little from SentiAdrien/felix theories) The boy is close to his mother but cold to the rest, Amelie thinks it's because of the death of his father and sister (yes in my au Felix had a younger sister named Diana) The character of Felix, even as he pretends to be Adrien, tries to make him realize something, but Adrien does not understand what allows him to guess over time. Felix reluctantly joins Gabriel (as well as Nathalie and Lila) to help with the Miraculous but gave him the condition that he will give him the Peacock Miraculous. And thanks to him and Lilie, Gabriel manages to get the rest of the Miraculous (not counting the ladybug and the black cat) While there is a ball organized by Gabriel, Felix shows up. When Argos transforms and makes a Sentimonster (moon) which he calls her Diana (may be in the form of his sister) with her help she gets rid of the adults. And here comes a conversation with him with Adrien and Kagami. Thanks to this, Adrien understands and tries to help his brother after his sister's despair, to which Felix says that he has three people to protect (His mother / Amelie, Adrien and Diana ( sentimonster))
Status; Anti Hero
these are my ideas, an outline of what I would do with them. And uses it for the concept of a comic book with them.

20 questions for fic writers
super late but tagged by @penny-anna, thank you!!
How many works do you have on ao3?
203 apparently! which is like, a lot but also doesn't feel like that many for how long I've been posting now
what’s your total ao3 word count?
1,060,055, and I'm still SUPER proud of hitting a million words. don't think I'm ever gonna write as much again as I did in 2022 (how did I write almost 400k in a year????) but apparently I'm over 100k for this year so. happy with that even though I haven't written nearly as much as I'd like due to like, general life stuff
What fandoms do you write for?
just second doctor era dr who! I definitely get like, story ideas for other fandoms I enjoy, and occasionally I'll idly imagine writing some of them, but never really seriously. I've kinda made an active choice for this to be my niche and I don't seem to have run out of ideas yet so
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
ok I'm gonna cut out like, 'fics' that are actually compilations of prompt fics etc bc I feel like that's cheating but. let's see
in the night i lie and look up at you (when the morning comes i watch you rise)
Sacrificial
Revelations
Vigil
tell me how you'll kiss me when i touch down
weird list tbh! big fan of the first and last one being there but like... sacrificial in particular I was NOT happy with ahgjklfdjgf. I do like vigil tho
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
yes absolutely!!! they fill me with so much joy & serotonin so I like to reply, & also I love love love discussing stuff w/ people in the comments (hi @galacticlamps ahjkgfd). I'm very very behind on it right now but I will get around to them all I promise!!!
What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending
oughfkdjg this is tough. I do think if only we could have been brave on time was pretty angsty, I don't usually write fics that toy so much with major character death.
there's a few others but the first one that jumped out at me while scrolling through my fics was i'm trying to reach you (before all the ghosts do). minor character/oc death this time but like. the whole fic was very much born out of the image of its angsty ending, so.
What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
hm I mean I do write a lot of angstless fluff!! so like, any of those. but I'm gonna go with litany for a reunion, because so much of it is angsty that I think the ending seems happier because of it.
Do you get hate on fics?
not yet! but this fandom is pretty chill so.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I am very very sex-repulsed ace it would not be a good time for anybody <3
Do you write crossovers?
not in the sense of like, bringing characters from one fandom into another. if I had the stamina/confidence to do proper longfics I'd absolutely do more aus, some of which are inspired by other media (if you guys could see the fairytale aus that live in my head.), and I /do/ have a daemon au.
the only crossover I've really done is Lifeboat, which is like. still a concept I enjoy. ark/its lore is something so close to my heart, so it was a lot of fun to fuse it with dr who. plus I just like imagining that victoria's dad was surrounded by so so so many unhinged mad scientists. & I also find it very very very funny that the ark character in question is now voiced by david tennant
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I'm aware of! again like. small and chill fandom. who's going to be doing that.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
yes!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
no, and I don't think I'd want to - I'm a little bit too precious/sensitive about my writing to even have like, a beta reader or anything. I don't think I'd do well trying to co-write with someone. the closest I've come is kind of co-plotting out fics with other people (the plot of the selkie au is as much @ettelwenailinon's brainchild as mine <333)
What’s your all-time favorite ship?
I have been so deeply invested in two/jamie for so long that I can no longer untangle it from myself.
What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
the fic I want to write most is a super comprehensive multichapter spanning about two years between jamie getting dropped off at culloden after the war games and two coming to pick him up again for 6b. I have a general sweep of the arc, some summary notes, and pages and pages of historical notes for it. unfortunately I don't think I'm ever going to feel like I've done enough historical research to justify writing it, even if I do somehow magically get myself to buck up into writing proper longfic.
What are your writing strengths?
hm idk! I'm quite pleased with some of my prose/descriptions sometimes. & I've had a few comments over the years saying I'm good at characterisation, which is always nice to hear.
I never really know what's good about my writing tho. not out of any sense of inferiority or false modesty or anything, I just. don't think that deeply about writing in general. the words come out & if I like them I like them
What are your writing weaknesses?
^^^ as I am always saying I wish I could break down the mental block that's stopping me from writing longfic
kinda related but like. I'm definitely a perfectionist and that can paralyse me sometimes when I'm trying to write a first draft.
Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I need to do it more often!!
my absolute dream would be to be able to translate all my fics into gàidhlig tbh. but I love love love giving jamie gàidhlig dialogue, or even just dropping little turns of phrase into his english dialogue, stuff like that. I definitely feel like there's some space between how I write/characterise jamie and how he is on screen, but to some degree that's a conscious decision. I'm always trying to strike a balance between like, writing him in character and writing him in a way that feels authentic to his time and cultural background. but dropping in bits of gàidhlig is a fun way of doing that (and also of getting myself to write in the language which is definitely good practice)
First fandom you wrote for?
hm I mean technically ig it was the saddle club. I was like 3 years old and I wrote a 'book' about the horses.
in terms of like, actively writing fic with the conscious knowledge of what fic was, probably fic about warrior cats ocs when I was about 11/12.
Favorite fic you’ve written?
old ghost's waltz, always. I loved how it came together, it was my first real dip into doing super historical jamie fic & a sort of replacement for the post-war games longfic I may never write, and it was a response to the phantom piper, which drives me absolutely insane in both good and bad ways. like it gave me so many ideas but god I could fix her.
unsorted is a very solid second though. it had all the historical fic joy of old ghost's waltz (even more so in some parts - the scene with jamie and connie might be my favourite scene I've ever written), and it was just. so cathartic to write as an expression of a headcanon I'd kind of hidden for so many years bc I was worried it wouldn't be well-received. it's my favourite fic to get comments on just because it always feels like a relief to see people enjoying it.
tagging @galacticlamps, @p0stscripter, @ettelwenailinon and anyone else who wants to do this!!

"That and the ARK was treated like the only thing we had left to look forward to. So they were probably pretty upset by the thought she would risk destroying it so casually." He could see why it had happened, and he understood all the reasons it shouldn't have. But there was nothing that could be done now as they had all eventually met their ends, at least they had felt guilty about it.
Strasky removed the battery pack from it's slot in the electrical room, watching as the lights in the room and in the assembly bay shut down. He had a feeling it would be needed as the previous room had also had a slot for the battery to be placed, and it seemed the generators weren't functioning as intended so the battery would probably be the only power source for the time being.
He left the room and headed for the one that was at the other end of the room, entering it to find two doors and a line of machines down the middle. The first doors power slot had a WAU flower connected to it and seemed like it would be inoperable even if it was removed. So he moved to the second door at the other side of the room, the slot for the battery was in working condition so he plugged it in. The light above the door turned on as did the panel with the button to open it.
He pressed the button, watching as the door went through it's unlocking sequence then swung open to reveal the ARK waiting in the small room. "I'll get it down from the transport track." He said before he entered the room, carefully removing the ARK from the track and carrying if out of the room. He set it down on a mobile work table that was near the door. He pulled the battery back out of it's slot and set it on the table as well.
"Well, if you want to take Catherine, that's fine. You can put her and the ARK in that safe place you were talking about." He explained as he started pushing the table out of the room and back across the walkway to the room where Catherine's body was.
He took the battery from the table and plugged it into the slot to power the room up, causing the lights to come on. "I'm going to see if I can trick a shell into thinking it has a payload." He felt launching something would be a good demonstration of how the gun worked, but he wasn't about to actually launch the ARK as it was better off not being in space. He looked at the machine that was hanging near Catherine's body then to the empty shell, he felt the device should work well enough as it looked to be a half finished satellite, and it wasn't like anyone would get upset if it went missing.
He moved the device to the shell and carefully lowered it in, making sure it was properly attached before he removed the arm. He shifted his attention to the terminal as it registered a payload being present and hit the button, watching as the payload bay on the shell shut and sealed before the shell moved down the track it was on, disappearing into a small dark tunnel.
"Guess it's time to shoot a really big gun for no reason." He said after the shell disappeared, might as well end the trip doing something somewhat fun. He headed back up the ladder into the control room and to the door to the launch dome. "Which means going back outside for a second." He'd forgotten to OSG was out in the open water as he'd never actually seen it before.
He opened the door to the room and entered, waving his Omnitool in front of the terminal and watching as the room went through the process of filling with no issues. "That's good, guess Tau was the only one with any issues." He noted as the door opened to a walkway leading to the launch dome. He lead them to a platform with a Pilot Seat, plugging his Omnitool into the terminal. "So, who wants to fire the big space gun? Pilot Seats are extremely easy to use and it shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to use this thing as you're just using your brain to control it." He moved away from the seat. "You'll have to use the crane to load the shell." He explained as he leaned back against the railing, sure he could do it, but he wasn't about to explain how a brain scan could control a Pilot Seat as he didn't have an answer for that.
Being all too used to dealing with death, either being the cause of it or the one picking up the pieces after it, it didn't take much to figure out they had walked into a murder scene.
Bishop quietly took note of the damages while Rook instinctively looked for traces of a restless spirit, as Catherine had met a rather violent end. Apparently, being at world's end didn't cancel the all too human's ability to take another's life.
"That explains why everyone was more upset at this than the starving...Kinda fucked they still managed to kill someone in the one place without monsters."
"Is that your main concern?" Bishop asked, going after Strasky. It would probably be for the best to make sure he didn't accidentally electrocute himself after the latest revelations regarding Catherine.
"Don't act like you suddenly got a conscience." Rook snapped, "Maybe we should grab the body now. I don't know, it sucks that she was left down here like this."
"That really isn't a priority right now."

Your MCs all come from different historical settings. They are kidnapped by… something and forced to duke it out in a tournament or round-robin to decide which setting they get to be dropped off. Not all of them are even fighters! From whence does each character come, what was their occupation, how do they fight, are they even able to fight given their circumstances at the time of kidnap (i.e. are they injured, do they have ammo, are they sworn never to touch a blade?), who wins. Fill in blanks in the premise: can the characters communicate, is it to the death, can they communicate with each other (i.e. translator microbes), is there healing, can they communicate with each other off the field and/or without being observed, what are the tournament runners motivations and what are the rules?

126 - Dreamingverse
Everyone had a second set of false memories that grow with them as they age. We call this one's Dreaming. These false memories depict another life, superficially similar to one's own circumstances or even resemblant of historical figures – but they are false indeed, in truth quite unreliable in history, personages, and even natural laws (please don't test this; even now children regularly die trying to fly if left unsupervised before becoming acquainted with the Waking). It would be an untruth to equate the dream-self to the self; they can be quite different people. Similarity can be quite random. Often people who strongly affect each other may find their Dreamings overlap, even recognizing each other from drawings if one is of an artistic bent. We call this sharing a Dreaming.
Key characters are born with the memories of other lives and another world. What do they do with them?
Rule:
Memories they have access to correspond with equivalent physical age.
129. House Hunters AU
130. How to Winnebago without even trying.

Watch "Art Garfunkel, Scarborough Fair (live), Napa, CA, May 12, 2019 (4K)" on YouTube
youtube
This is him and he's singing about his wife. He thinks it's very sad and he felt very sad when his dad felt sad and he heard what they were talking about. But now it makes him feel a lot worse he's trying to save his wife and he couldn't save his and he tried a lot of stuff and it was too much for the clones now he has to ruin them and he's ruining himself and it's mack Daddy's doing and that he's dying from it too. My son is trapped there but he's not really part of it they try to roam into stuff they cost you a lot and we're working soon we'll have what we need for manpower. But this song is very sad because our sun fashion to Viking boat it's really a ship after one of ours and he changed his little said he made it better we know the difference it's so can fly and we thought it was amazing we've done it before but it's still amazing that this year a very young man who taught us about these people they said they're human beings so watch out and Dave is very sharp and Mac Daddy has always been and has a system that's been countering us for a long time. And we still are aware watching out for things and building out. But this song makes me sad because you struggle so hard and you people keep putting him to the wheelstone and it's ours and you could care less he just gets a little tired or stuffy and really you're completely clueless it's not like Tommy F and you're making the wrong analogy. He didn't do horrible things to himself or us let me think you're nuts animals to tell you are the song has deep and Hera she made the talisman made of parsley sage and time and she has you selling it globally from up there all of you sell this it's from the song and it means something it's a certain type of cross and they had it on their window in westborough it is the fish cross no but you'll see it there's a number of things that you're missing about this the song perfect strangers has his ship in the background and you sort of get it but my daddy got it and he was real mad at you and said you don't understand that what he's saying is his ship is sailing because you're sitting up there conspiring against him and showing him it doing all this crap like we're invincible and we haven't done anything and finally they said we're coming down to the point where we're going to be desperate and we'll grab his people. He says I don't want to make you guys desperate and this is our son saying it but you really kind of do a lot of drugs me you and Sir Lancelot will go into my ship the ark as it were.. and they're looking up where it was and Max said so you see and they said not really I guess the ship of sales so they started laughing and said we don't need that big of a ship to carry people and also they got really mad and they said this is going to suck and he said you boys better be quiet he said why it says Rick Dyer is out here with someone else and also they were laughing and laughing and said it's another one of those tall tales told by he himself once again. And is it about 15 Jupiter and they started laughing again that's ridiculous tall tale. It's the honor my father and I'm sure that we set it up he's a very busy person is leading everybody and I don't know sometimes he sneaks in and does stuff but I'm pretty sure that I had the idea and my wife Hera and she says yes and we put him up there because at times they had to get Harry to disguise himself and this is some of the things they were doing and I don't know what to say I think if we play this and go over it when I'm free then I won't be able to say anything
Zues
You're right about something it's a massive story it's all encompassing and it goes over our little 50 years that are 50 plus years like it's nothing but it's suspect there too but we're here it's regular people it's just really harsh but it's really really intense and huge and magnificent like the boat his ship it's beautiful and it's a mine is in the background

These are things to come they haven't happened yet so everybody sit tight here don't go anywhere

So why is Martin scorsese so insistent Goncharov doesn't exist?
So, if you try and search it you'll find it's not listed in his filmography nor are there records of it existing.
The reason is because Scorsese has gone above and beyond to bury the existence of this film. We don't know if it's about shame, or hatred but he really does not like acknowledging this movie's existence.
One of the things that helped is that the movie was never officially released. The story of the troubled production is no secret; the writer kept going back and forth adding to Katya's chacarcter, The crew almost got arrested when they set fire to the farm for the arson scene, and tall the gay subtext got the producers nervous. The making of this movie was a disaster. Socrsese, in one of the few times he's spoken of it called it "An exercise in trying to function with less than 4 hours of sleep". Probably because it was all resting on his shoulders and at the time he was still a young director and they way the production was going he was gonna go down in history like the guy that released the worst movie in history.
So the studio (we don't know which because this movies is SUCH an embarrassment that no one will come out and say they greenlit it) decided to write it off as a loss, and shelved it some godforsaken studio warehouse probably next to the ark of the convenant.
Then, years pass, Scorsese becomes one of the biggest names in hollywood and at some point they're cleaning the warehouse where the movie is and they see it's Martin scorsese's lost movie or some shit, so they plan to give it a VHS collector's edition release. Word gets out to him and legend has it he stormed the place and threatened to rain legal hell on the studio if they so much as make one single cassette of that cursed film.
So the studio backs off and cancells the VHS release but by the time this happened there were a few tapes produced. And you bet film bros aren't gonna let this movie die in obscurity, so they start to pass the VHS around illegaly, making sure Scorsese doesn't know about it because so-help-you god if he finds out there's people that have watched this movie.
And so, years go by, the movie becoming a sort unicorn of the movie industry: everyone knew about it but few had actually seen it. At some point the VHS gets converted to celluloid (and note that this is still prolly the 80's we're talking about) and people start to make secret showings in college theaters and little film festivals of Martin Scorsese's secret movie. so a few people DO get to see it in a theater. But again, the rumor says that people that were showing the movie would get a letter in the mail fron Scorsese himself saying he'd sue them to bankrupcy if they dared to continue showing Goncharov.
So no one has the balls to show it in an ACTUAL movie theater because by this time Scorsese knew the movie was out and that people had seen it but it's not like the studio was gonna go ahead and release it in mainstream theaters and risk the fury of visionary director Martin Scrosese. So it becomes this urban legend up until the internet era.
By now you can find the movie in torrent sites but if you pay close attention you'll see that most of what gets pirated is the mainstream: the latest shows and movies. You can find all the obscure movies you want but again, those don't really make a lot of noise. And for all the symbolism and atmosphere the movie has it's just really not that good, we might even say it's kinda mediocre. Reason why it never really stood out in the last 15 years or so.
And now Tumblr, being tumblr is having a field day because they just discovered this lost queer film by one of the biggest directors of all time.

That checkpoint will unlikely be the last one they encounter. Since the ark, more and more have appeared—and she understands why they have—but in her current situation, if anyone were to find out Vash was travelling with her, it would mean a whole lot of trouble for the both of them.
Meryl's not even yet looked at how many iles between here and home base are left.
This newfound alliance is tumultuous at best, fragile as she remembers Luida calling it before Meryl had left, so the less people involved in the extraction part of the plan, the better.
Right now, home is the main objective; avoid getting caught are the main hurdles.
"That was cutting it very close, Vash," she groans, but there is hardly any bite behind her words as she feels the desert air breeze through the cabin of the van and even she can't deny how nice this feels. It helps that the checkpoint and any guards on duty are far behind them, but there is always that fear that they'll be discovered and Vash will be taken away.
His hand on the crook of her arm brings her back from her spiraling thoughts, turning her head to look at him. Her eyes are tired, she is tired, but it is not the eyes of someone who has been exposed to the horrors with no way out—though Milly has told her she's seen her stare off into the distance like that some times—but she feels like she's getting better. If getting better is such a thing.
Fear is not something that goes away with time.
The fears she carries are what made her go to hell and back for those she wanted to help and save. And if she survived once, Meryl thinks she could do it again if need be.
Despite everything, Vash appears like he is without much care as he sits in the passenger seat next to her. It almost feels normal, if that can be such a thing, and Meryl continues to drive at what feels like a more leisured pace.
She watches as he makes himself more comfortable next to her, wanting, for a brief moment, to reach over and take hold of his hand with hers, but opts to keep both hands on the steering wheel. His question will not go unanswered, though it's not something she's thought about.
Meryl huffs out a laugh as she begins to see the silhouette of buildings becoming larger and larger as the van continues to drive.
"Retirement's not in the cards for me," she says, thinking back onto those days where she said she would treat herself to the latest fashion accessories for putting up with headache after headache from her job. To her, it feels like she'd been a different Meryl back then.
His mention of her articles, calling them special, brings a flush of red to her cheeks as she continues to drive them, unable to help the smile that's curving her lips as he tells her why he enjoyed them.
"So, you see why I can't retire," she says, feeling something as she mulls over what he's just told her about her work over and over in her head. That feeling blossoms into something else as she remembers the amount of work it took to get all the information she needed—because people deserved to know the truth and there was no point in covering up details or lying about the current situation.
"In truth, I just always hope that my words aren't disappearing into the spaces in between where people can't find them. There's so much going on, so much noise and chaos, that it's always a gamble whenever an article is posted. I want to think I am doing what I can to help in different ways other than being in the thick of it and rebuilding. Putting whatever free time I have into this."
The van's speed slows down as she reaches the town's borders.
"Hey, Vash...," she continues to drive at a leisure pace, mindful not to enter the town before he's had a chance to hide again. "...do you think you'll ever get the chance to stop running?"
Somehow, she knows the answer to that question, but asks anyways.
"What do you want to do?"
“Yeah, but I got bored of waiting,” he complains, abandoning the blanket and pouring himself into the passenger seat after they have trundled past the baton-waving checkpoint sentries.
There aren’t any windows in the back of the van, such as it is when attempting to travel incognito with a wanted man. For the time being though, he’s happy to make the assumption they will have time between before they encounter another Terran or Federal checkpoint any time soon. Vash slumps down into his chair and props his feet up onto the dashboard, ankles crossed with a loud sigh. He reaches down the door to crank the window down and breathe in fresh desert air. “Aaah. C’mon, Meryl, can you blame me? It’s stuffy back there. And there isn’t anyone to talk to!”
He can talk to Meryl through the back of her seat perfectly fine. The joy of such a conversation, however, is greatly diminished when talking to the back of someone’s head.
“Everything happened so fast…I never got a chance to thank you for saving my butt.” Vash smiles sidelong at her as they trundle along through town. With the threat of the Ark gone, humans simply picked right back up where they left off. Plus Terran support and resources, the cloud of fear hanging over their heads has cleared.
The long term survival of humanity in No Man’s Land is no longer under doubt.
He reaches out to gently rest his hand on the crook of Meryl’s arm. She must have searched nonstop in the following two months after his disappearance from Octovern. Earth cannot ignore nor absolve him of his involvement in Knives’s plot (regardless of which side he had taken) and the Federals, in the interest of preserving this newfound alliance with their long lost brothers and sisters, were not likely to pardon him either.
Whatever tomorrow holds, the Humanoid Typhoon remains at large.
“Hey, have you thought about what you’re going to do when you retire?” Vash crosses his arms behind his head as the van bounces past the gates and into the town proper. He doesn’t know how far she intends to drive, whether Meryl deems it safe enough to stop now or later, and more importantly, he does not know whether he can convince her that she should follow her dreams in a way that does not involve carting around a wanted man.
“I read all of your articles while I was stuck in bed that whole time! Each one was really special…Like the ones that focused on what it was like living in No Man’s Land for the average person or your interviews with the survivors who helped the plants as they fell.”
