I feel like they both see music as a place for enjoyment and discovery #but Aya is quite aware of and #secure in her emotions so uses music as an outlet for them: a way to arrange and communicate how she already knows how she's feeling #while Mitsuki seems more to use music as a way to actually understand both the world around her #but also herself... I don't want to get all old man yells at cloud in here but I agree wholeheartedly. Finding community in something you enjoy is great and all but there's something about fandoms in particular that puts me off, particularly the flattening of characters into simple tropes and the misinterpretation issue you mentioned. (<- those two go pretty much hand in hand anyway)

This is an INCREDIBLY first world problem and I often just keep my thoughts to myself because it does not matter one bit but 🤝 you are not alone.

Oh phew, good thing I'm not that out of touch! Yeah there's something about fandom that does that. Perhaps fandom jokes that start out small eventually spiral in the fandom echo chamber into large exaggerations, which slowly go and replace whatever happens in the source material? Err, maybe. That's how I feel it happens in some fandoms. Perhaps I'm only nostalgic because there really were no Moomin fanworks back in the day (besides heavily satirical ones, Moomin YTP I love you), so there could be no major misunderstandings, and if there had been more in the past then they would've contained just as many as there now are ^^'

Fortunately there is a solution, which is not interacting with the fandom at all! It usually works for me very nicely, people in fandom can enjoy their interpretations and I can enjoy the source material and the fanworks I wish to consume UU

#i kinda wish more people knew the context of the moomins but then again modern moomin things are kind of detached from that context as well #the moomin company has them be a lot more cutesy and such than in the original books and comics #even so... it feels disingenuous to only have it be summarised as a uwu cottagecore property #like moomintroll and his family and friends are seriously going through it in the majority of the stories they star in #and in the final book they are literally just gone. gone #its like. its- cod im sounding like the rick and morty copypasta here! its like- do they know??? know what the moomins is about?????#its hard to put it into words the kind of feelings i get about this. seeing the multifaceted allegorical characters be flattened so hard #to have them be viewed from a singular point of view of a young person living in the 2020's #its best if i just dont do anything at all related to the fandom and reread some of the books by myself lmao #maybe watch those memoir episodes of the 90's anime again for edward #asks #darkelfharlot

Idk I think it's funny seeing people on twitter say things like "Christians want to tell you it's all a part of Jesus's plan until it's them!" cause like idk about you but I've had family members 100% say they're ready to meet the Lord than interfere with his plans via a Tylenol and a flu shot

#I had a cousin think she'd die from covid and actually lost her husband to it #only to say she wasn't scared of the virus because she had the blood of jesus over her #I still have family that says the blood of jesus will protect them better than any vaccine so they won't get it #I had an aunt scoff at me for taking birth control to control my endometriosis #and use my nebullizer for a severe asthma attack #and she refused to take her singular pill for her blood pressure until she literally couldn't see and her sister forced her to take it #she's in her 90's so ig it's more understandable but also she is v healthy for a 90 year old #like there are so many twitter users speaking from the outside that do not understand just how intense these christians can get #the politcians running off christian values or whatever? they just want power and money #aunt mary lou and uncle billy bob in the middle of nowhere georgia?#they'll hunt you for sport for even thinking about taking a claritin #my grandfather doesn't believe in allergies btw and apparently that's a p common boomer thing too #some believe in allergies but think if you have them you're meant to die from them as intended #it's fuckin wild out here #ex christian #religious trauma

i think its actually super interesting how quickly terminology changes in the trans community

#this doesnt mean anything in particular i just think it's cool how fast the language we use shifts #ive been finding & saving a bunch of old trans magazines today and looking at how the same publication #shifts or doesnt shift their language over time (like the ones ive found that ran from the early 80's to the 2000's)#I've never actually heard someone shorten transgender to TG but it's all over the place in the 90's #Transgender Tapestry changed its title like 5 times as far as i can tell (The Tv-Ts Tapestry / Transgender Tapestry / The Tapestry / etc)#while Female Mimics / Female Mimics International kept the same name from literally the 60's to the 2000's #dogwoodbark
