Re: moomin fandom

I don't want to get all old man yells at cloud in here but I agree wholeheartedly. Finding community in something you enjoy is great and all but there's something about fandoms in particular that puts me off, particularly the flattening of characters into simple tropes and the misinterpretation issue you mentioned. (<- those two go pretty much hand in hand anyway)

This is an INCREDIBLY first world problem and I often just keep my thoughts to myself because it does not matter one bit but 🤝 you are not alone.

Oh phew, good thing I'm not that out of touch! Yeah there's something about fandom that does that. Perhaps fandom jokes that start out small eventually spiral in the fandom echo chamber into large exaggerations, which slowly go and replace whatever happens in the source material? Err, maybe. That's how I feel it happens in some fandoms. Perhaps I'm only nostalgic because there really were no Moomin fanworks back in the day (besides heavily satirical ones, Moomin YTP I love you), so there could be no major misunderstandings, and if there had been more in the past then they would've contained just as many as there now are ^^'

Fortunately there is a solution, which is not interacting with the fandom at all! It usually works for me very nicely, people in fandom can enjoy their interpretations and I can enjoy the source material and the fanworks I wish to consume UU

WIP Word Game

I was given Knives and Poison (classic Crow~) and have to provide a sentence that starts with each letter, which should be Fun if nothing else :3c

"Keep her away from me and I will be.” She bit the words off sharply, teeth grinding. “I'll explain later.”

"Not this rabid dog that has overtaken my cousin.” And then he was leering forward towards her. “And we don’t need the yapping stray from House de Riva mucking up another job. Every time you are involved, things get worse. Maybe it’d be better if you stayed away from Treviso, too.”

It broke her heart into so many pieces she feared they’d never quite slot back into place.

Varric was on the mend. If she left the dagger, it would be his problem. Not hers. She would be free.

Each brush of a dagger against her bare skin had her heart racing faster and faster. If she leaned into his blades, how deep would he cut? How much was he willing to hurt her like this? His every strike was quick, calculated. Precise.

Spite flinging their head back to crack painfully against her nose wasn't helping either and she let out a strangled choke as blood gushed down her face. She was so tired of blood.

"Prove it.”

"Oh, don’t bother. ‘You're never supposed to ask a Crow how they came to be,’ right, Rook?”

It was simply bloody and miserable and full of pain. And here he was, willing to pry open the wounds himself and present the bloody mess inside just to prove a point.

She grit her teeth, simmering for a moment before she sank to her knees. With the adrenaline wearing off, everything hurt. She slowly pulled Lucanis’ limp form to lay flat on his back before looking up at Emmrich.

One step into the glowing hall had the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, an electric hum of danger shooting through her. She wasn't alone. Her dagger was in her hand before she could think to summon it, spinning on her heel to confront whoever thought they could sneak up on her. The motion ended in an awkward teeter as she found Lucanis leaning against the wall next to the entryway, a book in hand.

"No attachments, I was going to be sent away. Friends, family, a sense of home, none of that was for me. Your own daughter. You should have knifed me in the crib. It would have been less cowardly.”

My one fear is that instead of Mine content we’re just gonna get Majima Saga 2 for yk3 and rgg will call it a day. WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY ABOUT THE GUY !!! GENUINELY!!!

as for saejima, i do miss him being solo... like he's funny with majima at times, but as wack as Y4 was i still really liked his coliseum scene, and his prison adventures in Y5 were a real treat too..

hello, i just wanna say that i really like you even thou we don't have much the same taste but i think you are a very nice person <3 hope you have a nice day today

AND my tastes tend to shift quite a lot over time and i do like a lot more music than what i post(even if i do get stuck on one specific band/type of music for a long time, i like just about any music at all). i'm also always interested in learning more about the ones that i don't know very well yet, so if you or anyone else ever wants to info/song/video/album dump about favorite bands or things to me, on anon or not, i would love it.

even if there is something that isn't really my thing, i like understanding what other people like about it, which makes me like it a little bit more too, if only for that reason alone.

the entire reason i made my blog in the first place was to learn about bands and to feel less alone while doing that. especially ones that i've always heard of but didn't really KNOW anything about and there are SO MANY out there, i'm just slowly picking some off that particularly stand out to me at the moment one by one. but i still like to learn about any of them, preferably from a person instead of searching. plus there are too many, i couldn't possibly search everything myself.
