WIP Intro - Aeternum

Knowledge is power, they say. But nobody had told her about the sorrow that comes with it.

Summary:

By now Thanea has come to terms with her role as an outsider amongst the humans. Because who needs humans when you have mermaids and ghosts for friends? But then Nevras steps into her life and questions everything. Why can she see behind the veil that hides the magical world from human eyes?

What began as a fascinating project for him becomes more and more personal. And how can he tell her that his existence is ruled more by death than by life?

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Setting: Our modern world in which all the fairytales and myths are real but humans are blind to the magic

You and Miguel were having a movie date night in your living room to calm Miguel down from all that happened that day. But you also needed to confront Miguel on how he treated Miles.

“You know Miguel, you were a bit harsh on Miles earlier” you said as you paused the tv.

“How?! The kid could’ve destroyed the multiverse!” Miguel yelled.

“Calm down Miguel, I was just saying, his uncle already died, most of us only had one of our loved ones die, don’t you think that’s already enough for him to handle, he’s only 15 after all” you said.

“It happened to all of us! Even you y/n! You’re parents, Uncle Ben, and Aunt May died and you’re not acting like he did!” Miguel said angrily.

You went silent as you started to look down at the floor, thinking about the painful memory that you desperately tried to forget about. Miguel began profusely apologizing as soon as he realized what he just said.

"Y/n, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" Miguel pleaded.

You ignored Miguel's apologies as you got up from the couch and walked into your shared bedroom and slammed it shut.

"Shit, why did I say that" Miguel cursed as turned off the tv and ran into their room.

As Miguel walked inside the bedroom, you were originally facing the door, but turned the other way so that his back was facing Miguel.

"Y/n, listen, I'm sorry, I really didn't mean it" Miguel said as he laid next to you.

You stayed silent. Miguel started to slowly try and hug you, but you immediately swatted his hand away. Miguel sighed as he looked up at the ceiling and slowly fell asleep, thinking that you would forget about it the next day.

The next day

When Miguel woke up, he expected you to be right next to him, but saw that you weren't there. You would usually kiss Miguel awake or you would still be asleep, which meant that you were still mad at him.

Miguel got out of their bed and started to walk down the hallway. As Miguel was about to go use the restroom, out of the corner of his eye, he saw you walking towards the door with your spider suit on.

"Can I at least get a goodbye kiss before you go?" Miguel said.

The eyes on your spider costume started to glare daggers at Miguel before you ignored Miguel and swung away. Miguel sighed again as he went back into the restroom. Surely you wouldn't be able to keep this act on for long, after all, you both worked at the same place and Miguel was technically your boss.

Skip to when Miguel arrives at the society

As Miguel walked through the doors, he saw you talking to Jess. You immediately saw Miguel walking up to you and Jess and rolled your eyes and told Jess goodbye before you swung away. When Miguel finally made his way to Jess, you were gone.

"Someone’s in the dog house, what did you do this time?" Jess laughed.

"I'm not talking about it here" Miguel grumbled.

Jess just chuckled as Miguel swung away to find you.

When Miguel finally found you, you were talking To Gwen, Hobie, and Pavitr. And as soon as you saw him you rolled your eyes once again as you were about to swing away, but before you could do so, Miguel stopped you.

"You know you can't ignore me right! I'm technically your boss and I could fire you right now!" Miguel said.

You just rolled your eyes under your mask as you flipped Miguel off before swinging away once again.

Gwen, Hobbie, and Pavitr who watched the whole thing go down, were about to laugh but Miguel immediately gave them a death glare before they could do so.

Miguel sighed as he went inside of his office and just sat down.

Reader's pov

You were still pissed about what Miguel said last night. So you came up with an idea to get under Miguel's skin. But little would you know, that plan would backfire on you.

"Hey Ben!" you said.

"Are you sure Miguel won't kill me?" Ben said nervously.

"I'll make sure of it" you said.

"And you promise to pay me?"

"Yes Ben, don't worry"

"okay then" Ben said uneasily.

Miguel's pov

Miguel got out of his office and decided that he was going to give you that same silent treatment. But when he got out of his office, he saw you flirting with Ben, rubbing his arms, giggling and laughing at him. Miguel lost it and he pushed Ben out of the way as he took your arms.

“Lyla lock the doors and go to sleep, me and y/n are going to have a talk” Miguel growled as he took you into his office.

Miguel looked at you with a slight red glow in his eyes. And you could tell Miguel was mad, which is exactly what you wanted, but what happened next is not what you expected. Miguel started to kiss you aggressively. You tried desperately to get out of the kiss but Miguel wouldn't let you.

When you finally pulled apart, you still refused to look at Miguel in the eyes. That made Miguel even more angry than he already was. Miguel decided to bite down on your neck, leaving bruising and possibly even breaking some skin. You tried to hold back a moan, not wanting to give into Miguel's tactics.

"Still not gonna speak huh? I'll make sure your screaming my name by the end of this" Miguel whispered in your ear as he ripped your suit with ease.

Miguel quickly shoved you chest first against the wall, immediately dropping to his knees behind you, grabbing your cheeks and pulling them apart. You arched your back, trying your best not to moan as Miguel in your hole before leaning in to drag his tongue over it.

You felt your cock hardening as Miguel slobbered all over your hole. His spit coating your hole as he stuck his tongue in and out of it. Miguel frowned when he saw that you were still refusing to make any noise.

yep! Alice in Wonderland! I have ocs for the queen, the white rabbit, mad hatter, blue caterpillar, cheshire cat, and some in the same universe that aren't directly based on Alice in Wonderland characters.

which is a work in progress but the basic plot synopsis is that it starts as a slice of life and shenanigans with the association employees

but then the Catalyst happens and what's basically the apocalypse happens

our main characters are Sans (Spade) and Kyrian, and their main goal is to find their respective brothers, Papyrus (Clover) and Evelin

they don't know if Pap and Eve are okay or even alive, because they were out of town on a mission--but they were due to come back on the day the catalyst happened, so their status is unconfirmed

Oh so in your AU Jack isn't the Ripper but he did commit the murders we saw in the backstory? Or am I missing context from the Jack the Ripper case files spin-off? I have yet to read that jsjxjsnd.

As for my OC, her name's Isolde and she's a Valkyrie but the thing about her is she's technically not half god, she's the daughter of Freya and a demigod. Which makes it all the more shitty that she doesn't seem to have any powers at all at first. She can't manifest wings, she can't do the Völundr etc. and she doesn't really know why. She also doesn't know which god she's descended from.

So what she does instead of guiding the humans to Valhalla, is she welcomes them when they arrive in Valhalla. The god who had the job previously would hold a big speech that made the humans be wary of the gods and put the gods on a pedestal, meanwhile Isolde understands herself as more of a glorified tour guide and introduces Valhalla with a musical number and a little leaflet. Her best friends are Nostradamus and Apollo and they're a disaster trio. She's the most normal one out of them, but still extra.

And later on she realizes that it's actually kinda sad that some of these famous humans are celebrated in Valhalla for what they've done during their lifetimes but have been dead for hundreds of years and no one ever asks them whether some of their opinions have changed and what they've learnt and done in the meantime, so she starts running a Talk-Show called "History 2.0" where every week she invites a god or a human to talk about how they've changed from the old texts or what history / mythology got wrong about them etc.

And she's in love with Buddha and manifests her powers for the first time when defending Buddha, who is injured after his fight, from Odin who wants to attack him for the betrayal. This happens because she's 75% god and thus closer in power to gods than the Valkyries and since her mother is Freya (Norse goddess of love), love brings out her magic, so to speak. I'm currently coloring this drawing I made of her ^°^

Yup! It's Luke Evans. In the Spinn off ots revealed that he was the real Ripper and not our Jack. (Plus. Yk Alexs sister,Pero, also told Alex that "hey, it's not Jack it was the other guy I kicked into Nifelheim" ) and all good! Do it whenever u can :) its really bonkers

Knowing Apollo and Nostradamus i can imagine it's so chaotic. But nice that she basically gives the new humans a lil tour there. Sweet that she protected Buddah and that her powers manifested while protecting him. She seems to be really cool and I really like her name :D

The Bond Between: fic i wrote for a tcw zine, Ahsoka & Obi-Wan. 137 kudos.

Dragon's Rise: asoiaf, post-series. posted? probably my mando wars novelization. none of the really angsty stuff is finished, and i also tend to shy away from bitter endings because they make me depressed. and i do mean depressed, i have depression and i tend to get a little too into my characters' heads, which is not great when they're having bad times.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

uh. um. the... ahsoka and obi-wan one maybe??

8. Do you get hate on fic?

the only ones that actually hurt me were on a years-old asoiaf fic. i've gotten two or three in recent years when i've been writing star wars stuff, but they're so out of pocket they're absolutely hilarious to me. i make fun of them with my friends. shoutout to the person who told me not to use bitch because it was a slur against women when the context was literally a man calling his long hair a bitch to deal with. i am NEVER getting over that, it's so funny.

9. Do you write smut?

periodically, yeah. it's fun, i just am also horribly embarrassed trying to write it lol. i have very little posted, but i've got a handful of half-finished ones in docs.

10. Do you write crossovers?

nnnnnnot really? i toss them around for some of my OCs and original works (between each other), but i don't really write them or post them. now, fusions? yeah, i write those. the hp au is the only one i've posted, and also is my favorite. read the main fic before you read the oneshot, though, because besides being utterly awful (affectionate) it also makes no sense without context. not that the series has given basically any of that context yet, but, yk. it's coming. eventually.

not as far as i know. there's less theft in really niche communities like the stuff i tend to write.

yes!! @spyscrapper (i keep typing revanchxst as your url beloved when will you change it back) is my coauthor for the hp au and for our big swtor novelization, plus a couple of totj fics.

frankly, a couple of my ocs who live rent-free in my head at all times, from one of my original works. 1920s monster hunters, secret government organization, repressed queer people (person. the others are not at all repressed he's just a dumbass about emotions), constant threats of violence, morally grey pov characters, murder. i am literally insane about them. also a different set of ocs from fic that developed their own original work as well: magic university, depressed gay people, Plots, the usual. i am constantly chewing on them. in fandom, knight/scourge and cassus/ultimate, probably.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but probably won't?

most of my asoiaf stuff, tbh

16. What are your writing strengths?

prose. give me a good several paragraphs and i will give you gorgeous prose. flowing, poetic, great imagery, the works. i am not afraid to say that's what i'm good at

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

FUCKING dialogue. i hate dialogue so much. no more talking society has progressed past the need for talking. i can do a sentence or two, but full conversations? evil.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?

I'll throw in a word or two without translating, because single words are easy to remember and write a glossary for at the end of the chapter. full sentences, though? They're either in italics (if the fic is generally speaking one language and this is another), or unmarked except by dialogue tags (much rarer, generally only do it if the pov character would mostly be speaking another language and so marking it as unusual doesn't make sense. e.g., Cassus talking to other Mandalorians isn't gonna be italicized because it being in Mando'a is expected.)

19. First fandom that you wrote for?

sherlock, i think? i wrote an OC fic that has now evolved into its own original universe because i ended up hating sherlock after season 4, and also the fandom was so fucking annoying. i was writing doctor who and supernatural OC fics around the same time, but i'm pretty sure sherlock was first.

20. Favorite fic you've written?

tremble for yourself, my man (linked above) or start a war, for posted fics. for unposted stuff, a cassus wip i will eventually. eventually finish

i think it's because i'm already used to waking up early... even tho i'm a very sleep deprived student that sleeps at 12-1 and wakes up at 5 😔 i'm fairly a light sleeper so no matter what time i sleep, whenever my alarm goes off i'm always up by the second 🥲

and LMAOO i've played a ton of those wish sims to prevent myself from rolling whenever i'm saving up for a character, it works wonders

disclaimer these r the characters I made with my elementary school friends in 5th grade but I’ve been talking to one of those friends and we talked a lot about our little guys and I just hold so much fondness for them

we would get on our family computers each night and type out roleplay stories on google docs (legit istg we wrote like 4 books (docs) that were like 80pgs each…where is that creativity and motivation now huh!!)

and uhhhhh i was saving this ask bc i was kinda blorboless for a bit- like yea i had my usual beloved ocs (i originally wanted to share nesis but hmmm. perhaps later) but then i got. Ideas and oh man

2 in one actually :33 Reilly (left) and Wezzea (right)

(not their actual design btw, this is just a silly doodle of them in their halloween costumes)

theyre both homestuck ocs yea, but more specifically Heinousstuck, which is a body horror au where kids get transmutated, making them immortal but also changing their appearance

it uh. doesnt affect them too much though- wezzea managed to avoid it, and reillys transmutation is subtle enough for her to hide it

their lore is still kinda a wip mmm but- ok so

they're both jadebloods living in the brooding caverns, their group was mostly near one of the entrances, taking care of the lusii that lived in the caverns, although Reilly lived apart from the others, outside of the cavern. she was technically part of this group, but was never really close to anyone

also :) Reilly is part of a group called the Followers, who basically. blindly murder just because they can. (they split off from a rebellion from a friends oc a long time ago! but their origin is pretty much forgotten because of time + it kind of being a mess- pretty much anyone with rank killed each other long ago to try to take over- them being pretty generally disliked doesnt help either, bc while random murder is allowed and considered normal on alternia, the followers very much encourage killing higher castes, as well as killing a lot, which is a bit more difficult to be okay with), she enjoys growing plants around her hive, many of which are carnivorous, so she uses the trolls she kills as food for those plants, or fertilizer for the others

at some point, another jade from their group finds out about this and confronts her, Reilly tries to kill her, but is severely injured in the fight, and bleeds out

when she wakes up she is. the troll version of a vampire. but since becoming a rainbow drinker is considered sacrilegious, and her group is especially unfriendly to them, she completely cuts contact with them. this worries Wezzea, so she goes to look for her.

but instead a rabid lusus finds her first and attacks her, and it turns out that oops that wasn't rabies but lusithropy (aka werewolf! something we created in our rp gfkdjgkfd, lets trolls change between a lusus and troll form pretty much freely, although specific forms feel better at certain times, depending on sunlight- it does permanently change infected trolls' irises to white, and it can infect normal lusii, but acts more like rabies with them)

Reilly does find Wezzea right after this and realizes that since she got bitten by a werelusus, their group wouldn't accept her anymore either, so she lets her stay at her hive until she can figure things out again. she tries to keep her murder cult activities secret, but Wezzea does eventually figure it out- but instead of you know. doing something about this, she decides to help her, to repay for letting her stay (she mostly protects Reilly/acts as a bodyguard, but also uses her lusus form to gather information)

also to quote from discord: "shes that cat that drops a dead bird on your bed in the middle of the night except the bird is a troll"

and yeah- it starts out as just that. they don't really get along too well, but over time they begin to care about each other but in like a. probably not healthy way. mostly from Wezzeas side tbh, just pure loyalty. i would do anything for you, no matter what. please ask me to kill for you

not that Reilly is normal here either (other than yk. the murder cult thing lol)- she doesn't care about anyone other than Wezzea, only feels hatred for everyone else (not even the good hate kind, more just wanting everyone dead. all they are good for to her is to feed the soil for her plants), she trusts Wezzea with her life and would kill anyone that would harm her as well

they still pretend like they only hang out because its easier for them- they probably try to believe that as well but they are So Unwell about each other

oh oh also: her ancestor caused all this lol basically her hatred and pain got so concentrated reilly basically inherited it, but instead now she doesnt have a clear origin for all those feelings (+ she started the Followers, which directly leads to Reilly dying and Wezzea getting bit)

but when shes younger she was basically overwhelmed by all this, barely having her own identity because everything from her ancestor was just too strong- she manages to figure it out eventually but still sometimes struggles with knowing if a feeling is her own, or her ancestors

1) Is there any media you think did explicitly plural characters well? 2) Is there any media you think handled CSA well (I think you mentioned Persona 5 once but I can’t find that post). 3) How do you think the “into the mindscape” plot can work well (either headspace or metaphorical, and how do you make it clear if it’s the latter?)

1) in terms of like, explicitly stated in a "this character is a system I'm writing about a system this is a plural system"....no I cannot think of any unless we count indie OCs from unpublished works but I don't really in this case. The closest to being explicitly plural I can think of is I'm actually quite fond of how systemhood is portrayed in Omori (it's technically not explicitly stated but the call the inworld headspace for a reason yk?). I just think that for the most part we aren't really in a place yet where most plural creators are A) aware of their plurality and B) safe to canonize it rather than providing subtext and hints.

3) (2 got too long to put in the middle) I honestly just like basically every iteration of this trope and especially how much plural coding goes into it. Most of the people making it do seem to be plural in that they cannot imagine a mind in which there is only one person or one version of a person, it really speaks to the theory side of plurality, an exploration of what it means for the human brain. The only times I think it's executed badly is when it's deliberately plural and made by singlets because then we get stuff like the abomination that is total drama islands "literally a brain with gross bits all over the place" headspace." I like them when they're metaphorical and don't rely too much on coherence one just because it's fun and the trope doesn't take itself all too seriously generally and also because our headspace tends to have a slightly incoherent, dream-like quality so it feels more accurate that way.

2) Yes but to a point. The bar is absolutely in the floor when it comes to representation of CSA victims and survivors so I always feel like I'm praising media for the bare minimum and I've never truly felt fully seen by any portrayal and my opinion on that hasn't changed but...! I do have a slightly better outlook on some medias than I did the last time I was talking about this. (Mild spoilers for persona 5 and major spoilers for revolutionary girl utena, discussion of CSA and violence)

Persona 5 was I think, perhaps the best in terms of showing the character moving on to having a full life and character arc unconnected to their trauma without shelving it unrealistically. Ann gets closure within the first proper arc of her story and is able to get justice, and when she initially refuses to kill her abuser I was expecting this to be some stupid "I heal by forgiveness" bullshit but her reasoning of "Actually I want him to suffer worse than death instead of giving him an out lol" was iconic. After that she remains traumatized but there's a lot more to her character than just that which is sadly quite rare and I actually surprisingly ADORED seeing her go to therapy in p5 royal and being able to officially just talk about her feelings and how terrible everything was.

HOWEVER persona 5 loses all of what would have been really powerful for two reasons. One is that they sexualize the hell out of Ann for comedic relief (especially by putting her in situations where she must act sexual when she does not actually want to) and kind of just for no reason, which turns out being super disparaging after such powerful build up. But more importantly because one of the romance options for the main character who is her classmate is with one of his teachers (who I have super complex feelings about because most people hate the character for this but I don't I think she had a lot of potential and it's really fucking sus that they made their only sex worker character be available for romancing a whole child who is also her student, I feel like as a character she was done just as dirty by this option as the other characters were) so it's like... what is it only abuse and disgusting if it's a blatantly creepy man? Is it a case of "boys want to be sexually abused so it's fine" or what? What message are we supposed to be taking from this?

On another note the media that grew on me a LOT since I was last discussing this was Revolutionary Girl Utena, which remains incredibly relevant despite having a certain 90s crust on it/aff. Before whilst I was fond of the ideas it was presenting I felt betrayed that we never saw a follow up on Anthy's freedom, she just, quietly leaves without much else in terms of closure and by the time any other installments of the story exist it's either a reboot entirely or another timeline in a timeloop and that's not bad but after so much pain it felt lacking.

But it really grew on me as I started to look at the purpose of this story differently. Initially I felt like it was just an exploration of what experiencing CSA is like without any other underlining message, it was accurate to my experiences, sure, but it made me feel hopeless like there wasn't a point to it other than to sit with that pain.

But what I realized more recently is that RGU is a love-letter for the meaning you can find within trauma. The message of RGU isn't "if you've gone through abuse there's a better tomorrow for you," it doesn't deny that either but it's left very uncertain on that point.

But instead it does something that I haven't really seen from other depictions of CSA victims in that it lets its characters be Messy. Like so fucking messy without demonizing them for it? It says, boldly, and unapologetically, that you deserved to be loved even if you lash out due to abuse, even if you don't fit into the role of an "acceptable" abuse victim.

It says, "here's two abuse victims who love each other so much that when Anthy stabs Utena through the back to kill her, all Utena can think to do is reach for her hand, not even the thought of having been betrayed present." It says "even if you never get closure, even if you were to completely disappear right now, even if nothing good lasts from this, right now matters, and the relationships you have with fellow survivors matter."

I also find the exploration of CSA within the story to be suitably complex and find I actually quite like so many of the girls at Ohtori being victims of Akio (and Touga) because it gives each character a lot more room to be messy in their own way without feeling like it's making a statement on all survivors/victims.

Kozue says, "when you live in an impure world you need to become unpure to get what you want." She embraces her trauma, she glorifies it, and this isn't really portrayed as problematic so much as being like "this is a child and she is incredibly broken and trying her goddamn best to keep it together, but she doesn't know what she wants and she doesn't know what to do other than to go along with everything that makes her feel in control"

Nanami on the other hand tries desperately to regain her sense of grace and dignity all the while reality is crumbling around her and she slowly realizes that the only foundation she has (her abuser) is only making her more unstable. By the end of it she's so goddamn weary she can't even find it in her to lash out at anyone anymore, she wants out and so she starts to withdraw.

Wakaba's trauma is a lot more ambiguous. On the surface, what she's going through is kind of the most normal in the show and she seems well adjusted and healthy... until you realize that she's still being groomed by the overall culture of the school which is something that ALSO basically never gets addressed both in media and irl how like. You can be groomed without ever having an abuser, how we are all victims of pedophilia culture and it causes us to be complicit in others abuse. She falls apart because she's balancing her desire to not get hurt with her desire to have a place within society, she flirts with grown men to fit in, to feel like she's more mature and more confident than she actually is.

And of course in the center we have Anthy and Utena.

Anthy is an exploration of the way that victims are demonized and the roles that they inevitably play to survive. To say that all of her submissiveness and kindness and long-suffering is a front she's putting up and she's actually conceited and toxic and hurtful is a misinterpretation of the entire point of the show. She's an embodiment of everything that this world hates- a child who has realistic emotions and needs that inconvenience others.

Every "evil" act she commits is something she does for Akio because she's never had a choice other than serving his interests. She may be more powerful than him, she may have every physical ability to leave but... she doesn't realize that because she's been made to feel inferior to him for so goddamn long and she's a 14 year old child so of course she's going to feel restricted and like she has no choice but to appeal to her abuser (yes she's immortal but I think anyone who got the takeaway that she's somehow an adult is seriously misinterpreting the entire point of "no one actually ages at this school time simply isn't passing.") She plays into the part of the perfect abuse victim because she wants and needs to feel loved, she needs to feel valuable, and when she doesn't uphold this image when she has problems when she's not okay that's when she's being stabbed with million of swords to receive all of humanity's hatred and that's like. SUCH a strong way to express what it FEELS like to be a survivor in a society where abuse victims are only supported superficially.

And then Utena's is an exploration of what grooming feels like itself. Using the main, viewpoint, character to explore what it's like to be groomed is actually pretty rare I feel like but they executed it perfectly. It's so realistically done with the decent into Akio being this abusive villain so gradual that a lot of viewers who aren't familiar with sexual abuse and grooming will watch it and be like "damn that was weird I didn't get that at all lol" because they didn't really have the time to process what they were watching just like Utena barely had time to process what was happening to her.

He seems like a good guy, he seems kind to Anthy and she seems to trust him. He welcomes Utena into his home, he just wants her to feel loved and safe, right? When she experiences transphobia at school he comes to her aid, he admires her for her gender-nonconformity after all.

But then suddenly she starts to feel afraid of him and she doesn't understand why, she starts getting intrusive thoughts about the two of them together romantically, and she knows that's wrong but she isn't thinking about her age in the equation because why would she? She's mature, she doesn't have parents, she's old enough to fight to the death to protect her best friend so she ought to be old enough for an adult relationship right? That's a non issue to her, because she's too young to realize how young she is, but she still inherently knows it's wrong.

And she tries to voice this, she tries so goddamn hard. She says "aren't you kind of a pervert?" and he responds with (very paraphrased) "I am but you're just as deviant as I am, your being nonbinary is the same as my being a pedophile."

And like. She's 14, she's the only openly queer person she's ever met, he's been supportive before now so like.... he's gotta be right, doesn't he? There's not argument that can be made to this when he's leaning over her to pin her down and she's dissociating too hard to think straight.

Watching her spiral deeper into depression as she faces more and more abuse feels intimate, like, at no point do her actions not make perfect sense from the perspective of a grooming victim and that's something that you really don't get from so many media. And is is empowering to see her pull herself out of this and to see him for what he is, the resulting sword fight, and the way she ignores him completely as she tries one last time to reach Anthy and convince her that she deserves better than this, that all means something even if her ending isn't a happy one.

The series is a comforting one for me when I'm already triggered because it speaks to the tired cynic in me that knows that on a societal level that things aren't getting better or safer, that I'm never going to get rid of these ptsd symptoms because I am inherently retraumatized by how widespread this kind of trauma is. In that respect I'm Anthy in her coffin and Utena is reaching for me, and telling me that my friendships, my relationships with equally traumatized people no matter how hard and messy still matters. And that's a message that I just haven't seen anywhere else that you can find some happiness within an abusive environment and that still means something, even if you can't find anything else.

It's definitely not perfect and it doesn't fix the fact that I have yet to see any media with explicitly explored CSA where the victim is able to have not just a happy ending but a full continuation of their life outside their trauma in which they can heal and find support and a kinder world, I don't have any comfort media that does that for me which sucks a LOT. But Utena does make me feel a little better when I start to feel really hopeless about everything.

my character’s mc skin has long light brown hair & is seen wearing a flower crown with petals that are around the color of a pale violet and navy blue

clothing would consist of black shoes & a long light grey sweater that falls down to the legs and covers most of the hands which adorned with 2 black stripes on the upper arms

lore / history :

since my past life was the l’mantree, i would’ve known the ins and outs of the history when l’manburg was still standing, up until niki burned the tree

after witnessing everything, i’d hold a grudge on niki (+ allies?) and loyal to wilbur since he’s the whole person that made a meaning of the land of l’manburg

however i’d still be on edge w any side because i could sympathize with everyone to some extent after seeing some sort of distress from everyone at some point

i think seeing both sides of the spectrum when l’manburg/manburg still stood could change my perspective of some other characters

but at the same time, not everything was completely centered in l’manburg so i wouldn’t know the whole story of everyone’s character

i’m currently writing this just after tommy has left the prison & mostly everyone is treating him differently, so i’d try to befriend him by not showing that i dont care about his past & trauma but also not being fully faithful about our friendship ahaha,,,

he seems like the type that needs someone to see through his past history but tommy would definitely disapprove of my character visiting dream at the prison (i would do it anyway :))

vowing my current life to wilbur, i would help dream escape to revive wilbur & follow along with their plans of chaos

i don’t fully support dream but he is the only way to wilbur, making me comply with dream’s decisions

“growing up” in my past life and witnessing endless conflict, it is the only thing i know and understand; chaos

but i think during the process of helping dream & wilbur i’d keep my connection with them secret, being the person to obtain all the inside information they need

i could see myself as a type of equilibrium like ranboo but in a bad way, i don’t know how to explain it

but i would try befriending ranboo since he seems like he is involved in many things and would know a lot, despite his short term memory

unfortunately i’m not sure how much his character actually knows since i haven’t been able to watch his pov that much but i’m sure there’s a lot in his memory book...

to blend in as a normal person within the rest of the characters, i’d surround myself with connor a lot

not only because he needs more lore, connor is one of the “normal” citizens of the smp so i believe being with him doesn’t bring as much attention to myself, unlike people that’s related to the egg and their noticeable features after associating themselves with the egg

he is currently only on bad terms with techno which is rly good when comparing that to other characters and their relationships with other people

connor could probably sense my real intentions eventually & tell everyone else that i’m not who i say i am but if that’s my flaw & my downfall is caused by connor, so be it! sorry dream & wilbur

to all besides dream & wilbur, i’d try to act passive and friendly on the outside to get on everyone’s good side

however under the mask i am more mischievous & strive to cause more problems for everyone on the server from the inside out

in a way, i’ve taken up some of dream’s manipulative personality but still very understanding

i’d like to think of my character as a good listener,, trying to do less talking than others so i do not open up about my true self and intentions

i’ve seen rumors about schlatt & mexican dream also being revived along with wilbur & i feel like i’d have some soft spot for schlatt & pick up a few things from his own character, not sure what though

because of my character’s closed off and quiet personality, i feel like i’d be pretty analytical

i would know how to slip between the cracks with some characters & notice the smallest things to make them question themselves

maybe my character is good at holding their composure, and not that susceptible to being “emotional” in a way so it’s easier to face people

like i understand when a situation is sad, etc but i can’t show emotion towards how i feel about it (i don’t know if that makes sense but ya!)

i wanna try to elaborate more,, like imagine my character before tommy visits the prison, i would be unfazed from when i found out he died to the point he’s released and we find out he’s been revived

everything is a constant blur hehe

i just can’t fully process everything i guess? i dunno if that’s helpful but yeah!

in the end though, my moral compass has been very tainted; despite wanting to show my loyalty, it can be slightly easy to sway me, making me internally feel guilty to other people

but me trying to get on everyone’s good side to impress wilbur/dream to seem useful to them would ruin me before i would even realize that i’m another “pawn”

since dryads can technically manipulate plants in some ways, theoretically i could control the blood vines to some extent ???

i’m pretty sure dryads can communicate with plants so i could understand what the blood vines are saying as well

i guess similar to ranboo like how he can’t really be around water without some type of amour or something, it would make sense for me to primarily reside in a type a forest or be near one ?? who knows

seems a bit morbid in a way because of the whole history but if i can somehow easily get rid of the blood vines without it affecting me (if there is still some there) i think it would be kinda pretty to build a tree base in the middle of the l’manburg crator (iskall tease)

I’m a different anon than you responded to, and I get absolutely everything that you’re saying about not everyone being good and moral because I have seen it over on Twitter, but idk how much of the rpg community writes for fandoms, but over here on the indie side there is so much writing for fandoms, and many of the fandoms that get a lot of traction are YA media like Legacies for example, or more recently House of the Dragon. And while a lot of people do seem to make their own icons, it’s wild to me seeing resources made like that for public use while also expecting writers to essentially not write the characters those faceclaims play, you know what I mean? and on an unrelated but similar note: people making resources from shows that feature darker content but saying people cant use them for the exact same content featured but i digress The dissonance is just funny over all to me, because while I absolutely agree whole heartedly that the people who are gross are gross, they’re not going to stop, and they’ll just go private with everything if they feel they need to to stop people from going after them.

hi, it's skye.       (related to this post)  hola friendo, and ty for the support. i have actually never rper outside of tumblr, so i have no clue what happens in twitter world. BUT, you're actually right on my train of thought yk? one of the things that is so hard to mitigate is the fandom love, i'm one of them straight up and down. i haven't dabbled in a straight fandom character (i have made OCs in the world though, or a rpg set in the world) in a long, long time. given i haven't dipped into that world in ages idk what its like on tumblr, i have been OC'ing it up for at least 5 years now. however i do agree that if you are making resources for underage actors in lead roles, read: ya lit and fandoms, medieval fandoms, high school ones too, it's absolutely wild to not allow someone to use them. there needs to be a clear standard that the content creators set out and i def think i have seen some people on HOD packs note that they ask that people not use the underage FC in taboo and nasty stuff, which can be difficult in that genre, but i know firsthand it is completely avoidable. if someone has a blanket rule for all their content, its kinda unfair to make a pack that goes against their statements and lowkey tantalise people in that way. i personally havent seen it, but i can sympathise with the frustration.

the fandom issue is super hard, because that blanket rule does technically include many of our favourites. i have a legion of characters i would love to play or play again, but the rules have made it a bit harder from what i can tell. i'd be curious how admins of these fandom rpgs handle it, i'm certain they're still out there. like... how could you leave hogwarts behind?? when it comes to the indie verse, i have also spent a few years there and actually came to love it. independent writers who make their own resources and the like have a lot more freedom, they are bound by their own rules and it's by those rules that people find mutuals and thread partners. from what i remember, its a system that worked and gave AMPLE room for fandom characters (i played canon characters from YA fandoms in the indie verse actually). again though, i haven't been back in that community so i can't speak on it now.

i think the general vibe, when it comes/came to fandoms, is that if it is a universe bound in young adult land (again, i'm thinking hogwarts as my example), there is room for movement because they are real characters in a real world and we just get to create a group fanfic lmao. if it were me and i was running a RPG in that world, i think i would model mine off the later years (senior? i think americans call it? the last two years) because it's more realistic for a 17 year old to experiencing their own maturity. we all did it. i do not condone using underage actors for smut, lbc, however first kisses and dates? these are acceptable moral issues to handle in that young adult fandom realm. but i would tackle it with great care and great planning, some people will try and push the boundaries sadly. someone with recent knowledge will have to lmk whats the deal 🙏🏾 but look genuinely i cant speak for the fandom side, i think i outgrew the desire to rp in the YA fandom in general, i love the worlds though but i don't vibe with characters that (for me) are a decade younger than myself.

i also agree that whoever is doing the Bad Shit will continue, its such a shitty fact of life, but i have to believe that if we manage to force them into a private space at least we won't be exposed to it and therefore avoid potentially triggering content coming across and impacting our mental health. i'm lucky enough to not have a visceral reaction to written content, but many many many ppl are not that fortunate. we just gotta work together when this happens, and if not, simply block and move on if nothing else. sometimes thats all we can do. protect ourselves and hopefully, each other.

LASTLY tho, by darker themed shows are you talking like... saw franchise? horror vibes? blood/gore? or like a sexual thriller? thats just where my mind goes to be honest. i'm probably missing something lmao so fill me in if so!! but i sincerely do not understand the concept of making a gifpack from a 'darker themed' show/movie and then... not allowing someone to portray darker or mature themes? isn't that kind of redundant? i made two gif packs from a martial arts action film and i wouldn't disallow people from portraying fighting/violence because... that was the genre i giffed? personally, i havent seen it happen, but i do believe you. of course 'darker themes' can obvs mean different things to everyone, everyone has their own boundaries and standards of belief, but like... don't make a gifpack of a Heavy Topic show/movie and then disallow people to utilise the pack, aesthetics or role it was of that actor. that seems hella silly on face value 🥴
