I’VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS

Jeremy was determined to tell me jokes. He was a terrible joke-teller. He used to say, “Prim, I’ve got a joke for you.” He would start off and could never, ever remember the punchline. And he laughed so much you didn’t know what he was talking about anyway… About an hour later he would say, “This is it!” and he would give me the punchline, and by that time I’d forgotten what the joke was about. When we were in France, he used to ring me up and tell me jokes on the phone and then he would have to put the phone down and go away and then come back and ring again. It was hopeless!
