Sorry about that gang.
if you make an OC that you are genuinely insane over, like you are obsessed with this freak and can't stop thinking about them, then it will rub off on other people. the virus spreads

YES THE ODYSSEY HAS SEEMED SCARY TO ME (as someone who read 700/800 page books in like 3rd/4th grade and had no reason to be so intimidated by the odyssey) AND NOW IM READING IT AND ITS FUCKIN AWESOME
the iliad is my next target *rubs hands together and does an evil laugh*
also! there’s a lot of things that i’m understanding now and learning that i didn’t know before. because epic the musical is based on the odyssey. the riordanverse is based on greek mythology. the gazillion other greek mythology-inspired works i’ve consumed are only based on it. nothing that isn’t a work that is purposefully an accurate and reliable retelling of greek myths is an accurate and reliable retelling.
the literature itself isn’t as daunting as you think. it really just feels like reading a normal book broken up into iambic pentameter with some flowery language. that’s it.
a quick psa to anyone recently getting into greek mythology and is a victim of tumblr and/or tiktok misconceptions:
-there is no shame in being introduced to mytholgy from something like percy jackson, epic the musical or anything like that, but keep in mind that actual myths are going to be VERY different from modern retellings
-the myth of medusa you probably know (her being a victim of poseidon and being cursed by athena) isn't 100% accurate to GREEK mythology (look up ovid)
-there is no version of persephone's abduction in which persephone willingly stays with hades, that's a tumblr invention (look up homeric hymn to demeter)
-as much as i would like it, no, cerberus' name does not mean "spot" (probably a misunderstanding from this wikipedia article)
-zeus isn't the only god who does terrible things to women, your fav male god probably has done the same
-on that note, your fav greek hero has probably done some heinous shit as well
-gods are more complicated than simply being "god of [insert thing]", many titles overlap between gods and some may even change depending on where they were worshipped
-also, apollo and artemis being the gods of the sun and the moon isn't 100% accurate, their main aspects as deities originally were music and the hunt
-titans and gods aren't two wholly different concepts, titan is just the word used to decribe the generation of gods before the olympians
-hector isn't the villain some people make him out to be
-hephaestus WAS married to aphrodite. they divorced. yes, divorce was a thing in ancient greece. hephaestus' wife is aglaia
-ancient greek society didn't have the same concepts of sexuality that we have now, it's incorrect to describe virgin goddesses like artemis and athena as lesbians, BUT it's also not wholly accurate to describe them as aromantic/asexual, it's more complex than that
-you can never fully understand certain myths if you don't understand the societal context in which they were told
-myths have lots and lots of retellings, there isn't one singular "canon", but we can try to distinguish between older and newer versions and bewteen greek and roman versions
-most of what you know about sparta is probably incorrect
-reading/waching retellings is not a substitute to reading the original myths, read the iliad! read the odyssey! i know they may seem intimidating, but they're much more entertaining than you may think
greek mythology is so complex and interesting, don't go into it with preconcieved notions! try to be open to learn!

In OBCR Hadestown reunion news, the only new lyrics used for their West End appearances are the 'pennies and your pearls' lines in Road to Hell--If It's True and Epic III were all the Broadway lyrics!

Tag game🎉
Tag your moots and ask them where they got the idea for their tumblr accounts name!
For my name it was a nickname I was giving back in middleschool! One of our teacher had a system where we worked with 'wifi' eachtime we talked in class we lost a bar of the "wifi" (was a weird joke and we never held count on that) All the kids usually joked if they needed 'wifi' , they would borrow mine if they wanted to talk more. (I was incredibly shy in middle school, I only talked to like 3 people at school;^;)
They called me Ms. Wifi because of that. I just thought it would be funny if I put 'miss' instead of 'ms' because of my terrible actual wifi connection I have at home lol.
That's my story! Now moots, only if you guys want to, tell us your story.

ohhh Achilles and Patroclus this, Achilles and Patroclus that, WRONG. NBC Hannibal is a Hades and Persephone re-telling and I CAN PROVE IT:
Hannibal is literally a king of the underworld (his mind palace? a labyrinth of death, decay, and artfully arranged bodies).
Kore’s Becoming: Will starts as Kore (the maiden), naive to his own darkness. Over time, through Hannibal’s influence, he transforms into Persephone, Bringer of Destruction—a process that the show explicitly fixates on. The way Hannibal sees Will before Will even sees himself? That’s Hades recognizing Persephone’s potential before she fully understands it.
Jack as Demeter: Jack Crawford desperately trying to "save" Will, trying to pull him back to the surface world, only to realise Will is never fully coming back. The way Demeter fought to retrieve Kore but ultimately had to accept that she had changed into Persephone? That’s Jack realising that part of Will is always going to belong to Hannibal now.
Food as a tether: Hannibal doesn’t just feed Will—he indoctrinates him through food. Just like Hades gives Persephone the pomegranate seeds, Hannibal’s meals are an irreversible threshold. Once Will eats, he’s his.
Will isn’t some helpless victim, either. He’s the Queen of this place. Persephone doesn’t just live in the underworld, she rules it. She is feared. and Will—oh, Will—he doesn’t just follow Hannibal, he learns to dance with him. He doesn’t just descend into Hannibal’s darkness; he reshapes it.
Oh and the best part? Persephone may return to the surface, but she always comes back to the underworld. Will tries to escape, tries to be normal, but he always comes back to Hannibal, to the place where he is understood, to the world where he belongs.

intro to the punderworld volume 2. Compared how the 1st book started with Hades narrating , we now get a bit of a perspective from Persephone's point of view. I am very excited for this book to be out in September!

e-offering for Lady Persephone,
just because I feel like it + I feel really.. disconnected? with myself lately. I've been thinking that I need to change something, I need to do something, I've been slipping back into an old mindset, that I've fought so hard to get out of
I'm hoping the spring will come faster. so I'll bloom again, and I won't feel like a wilting flower just because the environment is too cold, too harsh, too rough.
I've been thinking about past versions of me a lot. Was she better? Was she prettier? Was she happier? Do I want to go back? Nostalgia's a mind trick, and we remember everything as better than it actually was. I need to change. I need to stay the same. I need to go back. I need clearance, on what to do, which road to take, so please, Lady Persephone, I'm asking for a sign, some guidance on what to do.
