synopsis: what a typical spring morning at steve’s house looks like

warnings: mentions of partial nudity

note: the coachella fomo is so real rn (wrote this while listening to peach by kevin abstract!)

it’s mid april & the sun has started to come out more in hawkins.

trees are beginning to bud, the grass is somehow growing greener than last spring, & the air reeks of summer feels. with winter disappearing into the back of your minds, hawkins was beginning to bloom again—literally & figuratively.

college was finally done (that is, until september), meaning that you were home (aka spending practically everyday at steve’s place).

with you back home, steve was taking advantage of every moment you two of you shared. whether it was a movie night on his couch with the snacks you both loved, helping him clean up the backyard to prepare for opening the pool, cooking dinner together with his radio on your favourite station—you being by his side for more than three days at time made him feel whole again.

after a night of hosting the gang over for board games & an impromptu “welcome home” party for you, to say you & steve were exhausted was an understatement. the living room still had dice & board game pieces on the carpet, empty cups & plates were stacked by the sink to be washed, the garbage needed to be taken out—but all of that was in the back of your mind as you both laid in bed.

steve had recently done up his room since the last time you had stayed over too which was a nice change. the wallpaper he had from high school was replaced with cream white paint. he upgraded his bedframe to one that didn’t creak as much as the old one, got muted blue curtains, a brand new bookshelf (filled with books you & robin had recommended him) & added more posters of his favourite movies & bands to his walls.

his room screamed steve, especially the new version of himself because he’s so much different from his high school self.

his bedside table was probably your favourite addition to his room though.

it had a framed polaroid picture of the two of you that was taken the previous summer at a beach out of town. steve’s arms were wrapped around your chest & waist, wrists dawning a few threaded bracelets you had made while his head rested against yours. you held his cheek with red nail polished nails as his sunglasses rested on top of your beach dried hair.

you both were smiling like love sick idiots with your feet in the sand & a pink kiss stain on his temple.

it was one of steve’s favourite photos of you in the world. so, it was common sense he’d have it on his bedside table as a little reminder of you. & the thought of him going to the store to buy a frame so he could have it on his bedside made you tear up as you woke up, eyes locking on the photo first thing.

the clock on the table read 10:37am, causing you to stretch your limbs & roll over to see steve still sleeping peacefully.

“love you” you mumbled quietly before pressing a feather light kiss to his forehead before getting out of bed with a dire need to shower. as you tiptoed around the room, you couldn’t help but bite your lip & silently laugh at how he had managed to toss your underwear directly onto a lamp in his room last night when he really welcomed you home.

you made a mental note to bring it up to him later.

grabbing a towel & some extra body wash from the hallway cupboard, you made your way to the bathroom to turn on the warm water. when you returned to steve’s room with undergarments on, wet hair, & a few water droplets on your skin, steve felt like he was waking up in heaven.

“morning babydoll” he rasped as he sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes with a smile.

“morning baby” you replied with a brightly, going into his walk in closet to quickly change before joining him in bed again.

his hands immediately grabbed your thighs, gently pulling you closer to his lap with a smile once you were close enough while your hands raked up his shirtless chest. “mhmmm, you smell good” he hummed with a kiss to your cheek, relishing in how it immediately warmed at his touch.

“you can thank your body wash for that” you chided, running your hands through his bedhead while his inched up to play with the hem of your shirt.

“did you sleep good?” you asked, mumbling a “good” when he nodded, fingers tapping into your skin.

“what ‘bout you? i know you were tired from last nights… activities” he smirked suggestively, biting his lip when you shook & rolled your head back. “shut up, harrington”

“you know how to” he stated with that grin of his you couldn’t help from making butterflies erupt in your stomach.

nudging his head closer to yours, you dipped down to meet his lips in a gentle kiss, one that left him mumbling your name when you pulled away.

“you got a lot of whit this morning” you commented with a head tilt, letting steve pepper a few kisses to your cheek & jawline before answering. “you bring it out in me, honey”

“oh, is that right?”

“i wouldn’t lie to you”

“i’ll believe that”

with a chuckle escaping his lips, steve ducked his head into the crook of your neck, shutting his eyes to relish in the moment. “i missed this” he said with a sigh, humming when you fingers ran through his hair again.

“me too, stevie, me too” you replied, resting your cheek on his head when he pulled you even closer.

he focussed on your heartbeat bumping in his ears while you focussed on his fingers rubbing your back in the way you liked.

“i missed having breakfast with you too” you mumbled, chasing steve to let out a laugh. “you want me to make you something, pretty girl? is that it?”

shrugging your shoulders when he pulled back to look at you, you tired hiding your smile. “i dunno, only if you want. i’ll make you coffee—“, kissing you before you could finish your sentence, steve’s hands cupped your cheeks lovingly.

“we got a deal” he mumbled gained your lips before kissing you again, smiling into it when you fell on your side, pulling steve down with you happily.

Some unrequited love between m reader and Jackson wang. Reader confesses his love to Jackson but Jackson just says sorry and leaves reader standing there alone sad and upset (I’m thinking reader is a soloist who has a lot of friends in the industry and he’s performing at Coachella) days later before he goes on stage he sees 88risings performance and sees Jackson and bibi perform together and gets upset cause he thinks they’re a thing (side note their chemistry on stage was so omg) and he gets sad so on stage he performs an unreleased sad song and after the performance he runs off crying and ends up finding comfort in the arms of another 👀👀👀👀 that’s all I got pooks 👀🖤👀🖤👀🖤

You stood backstage at Coachella, your heart pounding with anticipation. As a k-pop soloist, this was a dream come true, performing at one of the world's biggest music festivals. But amidst the excitement, your thoughts kept drifting to Jackson Wang, your friend and fellow idol.

When Jackson finally appeared in your line of sight, a smile lighting up your face, your nerves intensified. This was his chance to finally confess, it's been years and you can't stomach the nervous churning bubbles in your stomach anymore whenever you're with you friend. "Jackson" You call out and he makes his way over to you.

"Can I tell you something? It's important." Jackson's expression is curious as he tilts his head at you. "Sure, Mn. What's on your mind?"

Taking a deep breath, you gathered as much of your courage you can muster. "I... I have feelings for you. I've been wanting to tell you for a while now."

For a moment, there was silence, and your heart raced with anticipation as you felt like if you bite your lip nervously any more it may bleed. But then Jackson spoke --the churning of your stomach swirling tenfold-- his face was covered with a look of shock at your admission before it was taken over by a look of sympathy or awkwardness, you couldn't tell, his voice gentle yet firm. "Mn, I'm sorry, I-" Is all he said with a sigh before he looked away and just walked away.

With those few little words, your world felt like it shattered, your eyes wide and mouth dropped open as you watched in disbelief as Jackson just walked away, leaving your standing alone, feeling utterly rejected even though he didn't say anything but you could still tell, he's your friend, you know his answer or thoughts before he speaks them. That's what hurt though, apparently you've been focused on the wrong guy...

A while later, despite your lingering hurt, you put on a brave face as you enjoyed the other performers. You watched the artists of 88Rising perform, getting to say a small hello to Atarashii Gakko as they went on stage, and you felt a pang of jealousy when you later saw Jackson interacting with Bibi, you thought they looked way better together then you and Jackson would, along with feeling the need to be sick, but at your own self for thinking confessing to Jackson was a good idea.

When it was your turn to perform, you changed your set and performed 'Fading Echoes', a song you always thought was too melancholy for your usual upbeat or sensual songs. As you finished, tears threatened to spill from his eyes, and he fled the stage, seeking solace in the anonymity of the backstage area.

There, you ran into Tiger JK, another artist he admired. "Hey, Mn, right?" "U-Um, Yeah, sorry for running into you." You bow deeply before standing upright. "You okay?" "Um...." "It's okay if it's too personal. Your song out there was so...powerful." "Really? Kinda thought it sucked from my other stuff." "No, it was really good. I could feel the emotions." He tilts his head, looking over your face before placing a hand on your shoulder. "I can also see your emotions, you sure you're okay?"

Taking a deep breath, you shake your head. "Um, sort of? I...I confessed to my friend that I liked him...all he did was apologize and walk away..." JK hums to himself. "I still like him though but...now I don't even know if our friendship still exists."

Tiger JK listened patiently as you poured out your heart before speaking with his arm wrapping around your shoulder. "Mn, you sound like an amazing guy. So what if one dude doesn't like you but you shouldn't chase after someone who can't see your worth."

You nodded, your heart heavy yet strangely lighter at the same time. As Tiger JK tightened his arm and gave you a tight side hug, you couldn't help but feel grateful for his kindness.

"Y'know, you remind me of someone." "I do?" "Absolutely. His name is Chris." "Chris?" "Or Chan. I think you two would get along great, plus he's an idol as well." You easily fall into another conversation which was mainly JK telling you about his friend.

Though, you couldn't stop but think if it was worth keeping Jackson as a friend. You've known him for a long time but after your rejected confession, it feels too awkward.

You'll think about it later though, cause your brought back from your thoughts when JK offers you his phone with a picture of him and another guy, maybe the same age as you, and when JK tells it that it's Chan, you forget about Jackson, cause honestly JK's friend is...cute.

mmmmm this is bad, I'm sorry. Well, no, it's...okay. Honestly I'm not proud of this but it's good, I think, and I hope you liked it 😬

I feel disappointed in myself and idk why but no, it's good, I'm stepping out of my stray kids comfort zone even though it feels weird.

Chaewon

love: nothing has changed since mars. She is single and still very hurt about what happened in her last relationship. she is focusing on herself and on healing her heart before she allows herself to seek for love again 

career: she is very upset with her company for setting her p. she believes that everything that is happening bad of her is due to the company's poor management. i does seem as well that Chaewon will have her name on knets mouth again very soon 

self: she is close to someone (male energy) that has been comforting her and trying to get her back to her feet. this is a friend and not a love interest, despite this friend might be in love with her or having some feelings for her 

Sakura

love: She is still single as well and she hasn’t been with anyone lately. Sakura is actually bitter about this love opportunity that has rejected her for schedule and career purposes. although she understands it still makes her upset that the person didn't wanted her after the effort she put into it 

career: she is confused on why people are being mean to the group and to her about their skills. she is trying to weight her options here to make herself appear better or to at least involved in some type of way but Sakura lacks the maturity to do so 

self: other than that, she is doing well. Her physical health has been improving lately and she is also very strong mentally which makes her immune in a  way to what people have said about her. she believes that such comments aren't worth of her attention 

Yunjin

love: still single and she is still bitter about this person she was supposed to date but didn't after a conflict. although she is recovering from this disappointment and getting better, her heart doesn't seem to be open for anything serious at the moment 

career: Yunjin has a good sponsor by her side and the company is literally covering her in money and glitter which makes her benign confident with her skills and the things she can achieve. there’s probably new opportunities fo there soon 

self: she isn't really into fate or that things happen by coincidence. i still think that she might believe that everything that is happening involving the group's name is just the consequences of their actions

Kazuha

love: she is still dating the same person she was dating back in march. things seem to be doing well, but Kazuha is also learning a lot about herself and about her feelings while being in this relationship 

career: I believe that she had a huge argument with the members about what happened in Coachella or at least what has been happening with the public opinions. She might be accusign some members of being too lazy while other members are also accusing her of partying too much instead of working 

self: Kazuha really needs to be careful with her consumptions and the way she lives her lifestyle since it could potentially turn into serious addictions or at least ruin her health and image 

Eunchae

love: nothing changed for her when it comes to her relationship, since she is dating the same person still. things seem to be doing well and she is in love and thriving 

career: what happened and the public's opinion has affected her a lot and she is now self limiting herself when it comes to her skills. Eunchae is also ashamed and she is very harsh with herself and her inner citic about her talents as an idol 

self: her energy is a little hasty and impulsive and Eunchae might have been a little irritated lately with everything that has been happening to her and the group (and due to the overall mood).

Time began to get faster. You were getting used to pregnancy and all the lovely symptoms that go along with it–you learnt to combat your nausea with ginger ale, you were getting very good at timing your naps to keep you going through the day, and you always have a pack of Tums on you for your heartburn. And you had gotten into a good routine, now adjusting to your time difference to Ross. Though that would be over soon.

You’d manage to wrangle a trip to the Dirty Hit office in LA, all in the name of business, conveniently at the same time the band would be in LA for Coachella. You missed Ross so much, and he missed you. You were both ecstatic about the fact that you were going to see each other again, even if it was only for a little over a week.

You had a day to get settled in LA, in the 20s era 3-bedroom in West Hollywood that Dirty Hit had put you up in for your ten days stateside. You had to share, of course–your bosses were kind to you but they weren’t that kind. Adam would be staying with you, not that you minded, you were close with him and always enjoyed his company. And then, in a stroke of luck, you managed to organise for Ross to stay with you two officially, without suspicion.

You could barely contain your excitement as the two men pulled up in an uber outside the house. You couldn’t help but run out to see them as you heard the car engine. With a wide grin, you welcomed them in.

You chatted with them both, asking about how the tour was going and all that–even though Ross told you everything, you had to keep up appearances. You knew you wouldn’t be able to keep up the act for long, so you relished in the sneaky glances, the sly inside jokes, and just the exhilaration of your own secret.

That evening the band had a show at the Roxy–a tiny venue, 600 people tops. And you were lucky enough to be one of them.

You beamed with pride watching them. Your boys. Though for most of it, you just couldn’t take your eyes off of Ross. You didn’t have a great view from the side of the stage, but at least you were on the right side to only be a few feet away from him, feeling his bass notes vibrate through you each and every time he plucked a note.

You prayed no one noticed when he gave you a wink after you let out a particularly loud cheer. You could watch him forever, so lost in the music, he wasn’t thinking about anything else–not a shred of self-consciousness to be seen. This was when he was the most beautiful.

That night you laid in your bed, still thinking of him. You could still hear Adam watching something on the TV, he would surely see you go into Ross’ room. You had to talk to Ross.

“Hi,” he whispered, answering your call.

“Wish Ad would just go to sleep!” You answered in a hushed whisper of your own.

He chuckled. “Miss me, darlin’?”

“Like you wouldn’t believe…”

He stayed silent, thinking for a moment. “Why don’t I go out there and make a brew and distract him and you-” A cough. “-sneak in?”

“Well off you go then!”

Ross hung up the phone and you heard his door creak open. There was muffled chatter between the two men, and the rumble of the electric kettle. It had to be quick, and it had to be now.

You gently opened your bedroom door. As you peered to the living room just down the hall and saw Adam and Ross in the kitchen just past it. On tiptoes, you snuck into Ross’ bed, now you just had to wait for him.

After a couple minutes he joined you, laughing at seeing you all cuddled up in the covers–right up to your chin.

“You made yourself right at home, huh?”

You didn’t answer, just patted the space next to you. After placing his hot cup of tea on the nightstand, he laid down beside you. Finally you felt at home again, tucked into his side.

You could finally kiss him again, and relished in that fact. Across his lap, with one of his hands placed firmly on your thigh to keep you there, you were practically one step away from breathing him in.

You couldn’t stop your body from moving against his, grinding on him in hopes of eliciting one of the filthy groans you’d become so addicted to. Once you did, it was a personal victory.

Soon the air in the room became stifling. As you reached for the bottom of the oversized t-shirt–that may have been Ross’ at some point in the past, Ross grabbed your hand.

“What?” You asked, barely above a whisper.

“Adam is right out there, and I can’t be quiet right now, and I know you can’t be either,” he whispered back.

You sighed in frustration. “I know…”

You rolled off of his lap to lay down beside him in a huff. He was right, no matter how sour you felt, you didn’t want this moment to be the one where someone finally catches you. 

You looked over at Ross, who was now sipping his tea. He looked so beautiful in the dim, yellow light. It was just dark enough to obscure all the little details of his face–details you already had memorised–but the light still bounced off the skin of his cheeks, you could see his smile.

It had been suffocatingly warm all day at the festival grounds. You couldn’t complain, it was Coachella–and you really couldn’t complain, lest anyone figure out all your sufferings together equalled around your tenth week of pregnancy. Ross had been by your side for most of the day, always getting you water and any snacks you felt like. Really the entire band was protective of you the whole day, and Rome as well–they all checked up on you, like real friends.

It got dark quickly, and with that, a chill ran through the air that you just couldn’t shake. Your whole group was huddled in a small tent set up as the green room, anyone and everyone was there–girlfriends, assistants, family, and you. You sat on a metal fold-out chair in the corner of the room, sipping the bottle of far-too-expensive water that was put on the band’s rider. You held your arms around yourself in an effort to keep warm, though that was difficult given the fact that you were just wearing a tank top and jeans, not even considering the weather.

“You alright?” Ross whispered from his seat next to yours in between the lulls of conversation as it inched closer and closer to the band’s set time. 

You looked around the room, everyone was in their own worlds, leaving you and Ross alone–a luxury that was rare in the past few days. “Yeah, just…nauseous,” you answered in a hush whisper of your own.

“I’m sorry, darling, how long left until it’s over? A month?”

“Three weeks, and don’t think I’m not counting down the days,” you laughed.

Soon, the band got the call they were just about due on stage. So the entire entourage made their way to the side of the stage–where you and the rest of the group would watch from a vantage point above the stage level.

You could tell that they were all nervous to perform, all of them were quiet on the walk there–and you couldn’t blame them, Coachella was a big deal and they weren’t exactly in front of a very forgiving audience.

You were side-by-side with Matty on the walk over. With an arm around each other’s shoulders, you could easily hear his shallow breathing.

“Hey, mate,” you said to him.

“Yeah?” He asked, trying to act as casual and relaxed as possible.

“It’ll be good, you guys’ll kill it, I know you will.” 

You squeezed him a little bit closer. Matty leant into the hug, resting his head awkwardly on the top of yours, making you both giggle just a little.

“Thanks, mate,” he whispered.

You were correct in saying the band would kill it, of course you were. You could see in all their faces just how ecstatic they were after the show. As you hugged each of them–all sweating and panting–you told each of them how well they did.

With Ross, though, you hugged just a little tighter, and whispered just a little lower. “I’m so proud of you.”

Soon enough you were whisked away to some swanky afterparty in a fancy white marquee tent, hosted by some sponsored vodka brand or something like that– though you didn’t really take much notice. You were too busy worrying about the fact that everyone else had a boozy night ahead of them and you were going to have to fake it all, some way or another. 

For most of the night it was easy, just order straight mixers at the bar. And the further and further you got into the night, the drunker everyone else got–too smashed to notice you perfectly sober. What was harder was George ordering round after round of shots for your whole group.

You had to keep slyly passing them to Ross–who kept by your side for the entire night–but by midnight you practically had to prop him up to keep him standing next to you. You didn’t mind it; over the loud music, you two could easily whisper to each other without anyone listening. It was fun to get him all riled up, knowing that the later it got into the night, the easier it would be to slip away to the nearest bathroom.

“I need air,” Ross slurred to you. You noticed beads of sweat pricking up on the top of his nose.

With a quiet “alright,” you helped him stumble out of the marquee tent, back into the fresh night air. There was a slight wind picking up, and it blew all your worry away. Just the two of you alone, like how this all started.

You eventually found yourselves sitting on the concrete curb outside, Ross had his head laid on your lap. The stars out in the middle of nowhere were so bright, he was transfixed by them. You could only chuckle at him staring, wide eyed.

After a couple minutes of silence–him staring and you lightly patting the top of his head–he spoke again. “You’re so beautiful.”

You laughed. “Maybe not from your angle, babe.”

“No, I’m serious,” he answered back. “You are…an angel. Beautiful.”

“You’re so drunk,” you chuckled.

You heard stumbling steps behind you, looking back you saw that it was the one and only guitarist of your favourite band, Adam. He sat down next to you.

“What’s with this one?” He asked you with a light chuckle.

“Had a bit too much to drink,” you smiled.

“It’s not my fault!” Ross piped up.

“You didn’t have to get blind, mate!” Adam answered.

“No, I did! I had all of her shots!”

“What? Why?” Adam asked.

“I…um…can’t drink,” you said. 

You could see Adam got a slight glint in his eye. “Why?”

“I’m…” You took a breath. “I’m pregnant.”

“Oh my god!” Adam answered. “Congrats?”

“Yeah!” You leant over to give him a side-hug.

“And is…” He pointed to a dozing-off Ross laying in your lap. You nodded. “Holy shit! Who knows?!”

You laughed at Adam, acting like a giddy school boy. “No one–just you, please don’t say anything yet!”

“Lips are sealed.”

Boyfriends

A self aware take on Boyfriends, including Harry and boyfriends of those he cares for. The lyric video features a lone swan, a symbol of commitment. Harry was with a swan in every image for his May 20 2019 Gucci Campaign, released the week Boyfriends was first written. Harry and Taylor were pictured with a Swan on her birthday when they went to The Lakes. Harry who has spoken about the song with pride and deference. Let's start with the gorgeous first take:

Harry said to Zane Lowe it was written at the end of Fine Line:

"There was an extra week where we wrote some stuff, wrote Adore you, TPWK and we were recording Lights Up. [...] At the end of that session everyone left and I started writing Boyfriends and it almost felt like OK there is a version where we get this ready to put on this album, and I think there was something about it where it felt like it's going to have it's time. [...] I am learning so much by saying it [...] It is both acknowledging my own behaviour, looking at behaviour I have witnessed and looking at I grew up with a sister, so it's like watching her date people and watching friends date people and you know people don't treat each other nicely sometimes. And it turned out about boyfriends because I started paying it and saying boyfriends. [...]Just say what you think of boyfriends.

Harry was in the studio from 15 May 2019, the Swan Gucci Campaign was released on he and Taylors anniversary that week. It was also 2 weeks after Me! Was released. When speaking about Boyfriends Harry constantly mentions these other songs. They have a common theme about the impact of the behaviour of others on his relationships and self, true his nature it is subtle and gentle:

Adore you's video asks fans to respect the partner(s) of his choosing, in contrast to fan reaction who he dates.

TPWK, as the title says, Harry told Rolling Stone " It made me uncomfortable at first, [...] I feel like that song opened something that’s been in my core.”

Lights Up - to Rolling Stone Harry spoke about stepping out from 1D on his own, the lyrics of "I'm not ever going back" and "All the lights couldn't put out the dark running through my heart", link the experience of the band and fandom to mental health and knowing who he is, rather than who others want him to be.

To me, coming at the end of that session adds to Harry taking ownership his role in failed relationships in that time by being unaware of the impact his 1D persona. fan treatment of his partner(s) and emotional unavailability. Taylor has also described her anxiety dating him in Slut! and Gold Rush. However, as Harry said, it is not limited to himself. On its release at Coachella, (3 years after it was written) "To Boyfriends Everywhere, F*** you". This was weeks after Taylor wrote You're Losing Me about Joe. His face to the end of this is everything:

Setlist and Tracklisting

Harry placed Boyfriends on HH between Satellite and LOML. Harry stopped playing Boyfriends after November 15 2022, when he played it live with Ben Harper at the end of the L.A. Forum residency. It was only played once in 2023, at Wembley June 16. The next night was the only time he played Sweet Creature since 2018. When it was on the setlist it proceeded LOML or Lights Up.

The opening is Backwards 'Ooh Fool, you’re back at it again'. Sunflower Vol 6 also opens with 'Sunflower' backwards. I think of this as about a backwards life, success followed by a normal life.

The first verse describes how boyfriends take their partner for granted and misunderstand.

Weakened When you get deep in He starts secretly drinking It gets hard to know what he's thinking You love a fool who knows just how to get under your skin You, you, you still open the door

The second verse describes where partner has met their guard down some boyfriends withdraw, and start drinking. Harry has sung of this before in Half the world away “I’ve started drinking”. Harry has mentioned drinking in other songs, but HTWA has a similar meaning, of drinking in secret to cope.

Harry touches on common themes in his discography:

Not communicating, similar to MMIH “we don’t talk about it”

Not getting over this person - Getting under you skin is a reference to Taylor’s The Lakes: “What should be over burrowed under my skin in heart-stopping waves of hurt” and IWYW “You always knew how to push my buttons”

Doors - here Harry's muse is opening the door, Harry has 7 songs that refer to knocking, opening or not opening doors. Taylor also has 13 songs about Harry and doors.

While the first 2 verses the Boyfriend was uncommunicative, emotionally unavailable and didn't consider their partner. In the third verse the boyfriend and partner are learning from failed relationships, but still no closer. Now the boyfriend is only calling when they want company, rather than to be there for their partner.

Halfway home: The X Account 'I am Halfway Home' was started to promote HH. The term could have several meanings:

a Halfway house is a place to reintegrate into society from an institution.

The song is a play on words of having no more emotional closeness despite being physically halfway home, and

Halfway home is the name of a documentary about the toll war takes on veterans and their families.

Home is an important theme to Harry's work, Home meaning being with the right person rather than a physical place. To me, this lyric is Harry is saying that despite his growth since leaving the band and break down of this relationship they are still not emotionally closer.

Boyfriends Are they just pretending? They don't tell you where it's heading And you know the game's never ending You, you lay with him as you stay in the daydream You feel a fool You're back at it again

The closing of the song is a sense that the boyfriend is being a player, not communicating.

But Harry's muse gives in, wanting to stay in a dream. Slut! has a similar idea of choosing to stay in a love haze when you know it's not going to last "Got lovestruck, went straight to my head / Got lovesick, all over my bed / Love to think you'll never forget / Handprints in wet cement". Harry also says this in Daydreaming: "Livin' in a daydream"

Harry and Taylor have both used 'fool' in reference to their relationship before (in Fools Gold, Cardigan, Illicit Affairs, Joker and the Queen and in Long Pond Taylor said it 7 times about James in Betty.)

Finally, it refers to the cyclical nature of their relationship with 'back at it again' as OOTW 'built to fall apart and back together' and Style "when we go crashing down we come back every time' and many other songs.

Summary:

It's interesting, I was just noting last night that a lot of kpop groups seem to be doing more English songs - Le Sserafim's new song that they debuted at Coachella is all in English. I just hope the desire to gain a bigger worldwide audience, especially by conquering the western market, doesn't lead them to sacrifice all the unique things that make kpop what it is. 💕

Home For You 23 Larry Things in 2023

1. HSLOT

Harry has the 3 LA shows, Australia and Asia legs, and another Europe leg scheduled for 2023. The LA shows are on January 26, 27. The rest of the legs start on February 20.

2. 3 year Walls anniversary

In just about a month Walls will turn 3 years old (January 31). For Walls’ first anniversary Louis did the infamous Spotify covers of definitely not Harry’s tattoos and while he didn’t do anything last year, he did start tour the next day. Perhaps this year Louis will do something for the 3rd anniversary.

3. Harry bday

As most (if not all of us) know, Harry’s 29th birthday will take place on February 1, 2023, for which fundraisers are already happening.

4. Grammy Awards

Harry has been nominated for 6 Grammys (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video). For note so no one gets mad, Faith in the Future was not released on time to qualify for the 2023 Grammys which will be held on February 5.

5. The BRIT Awards

I couldn’t find anything confirmed yet, but Harry is predicted for Best British Album of the Year, and Best British Single. The BRITs will take place on February 11.

6. Pollstar Awards

Harry is nominated for Major Tour of the Year, Best Pop Tour, and Best Brand Partnership/Live Campaign for the Pollstar Awards, which will take place on February 22.

7. Academy Awards

Harry, David Dawson, and Emma Corrin have all been submitted for Supporting Actor in the 2023 Academy Awards. This means Harry might be at the Oscars (and talk to David and Emma, which is always fun), and Harry could end up being an Academy Award winner. The Academy Awards will take place on March 12.

8. 1 year since door / halfway home / Coachella

I’ve listed these as one thing because having each as a separate thing felt cheap, and they’re all linked in my head. The Door™ led to Halfway home being such a large thing (briefly explained here (note the self-promo)), and Harry first sang Boyfriends (which has the halfway home lyric) at Coachella night 1. Boyfriends was obviously among one of the many unhinged things Harry did at Coachella last year. The You Are Home door started on March 18th and ran for two months and then came back very briefly twice for Harry’s singles. YAH tweeted “half way home” on April 13th. Then Harry performed at Coachella on April 15th, singing Boyfriends for the first time, then again on April 22nd.

9. 1 year Harry’s House anniversary

The 1st anniversary of Harry’s House is on May 20th. Which means we can expect something. For Fine Line, it was the special vinyl (and my understanding is that it was the same for HS1).

10. 6 year HS1 anniversary

The 6th anniversary of HS1 is on May 12th. I don’t remember Harry doing anything for the 5th last year, so I doubt he’d do anything this year, but who knows. At the least we get to celebrate.

11. FITFWT

As of right now only the North America and European legs of FITFWT have been announced for 2023, but the LATAM, Asia, and Australian legs should be announced soon (but will likely take place in 2024). FITFWT starts on May 26.

12. Louis performing No Control (?)

At one of his recent signings, Louis told a fan that he might sing No Control “once or twice next year, I would like to yeah!” Regardless of whether he remembers this or will hold to it, one can have hope.

13. Louis possibly writing LT3

In Euphoria Magazine Louis said he hopes to have finished writing (not recording) LT3 before tour starts (on May 26). Which means LT3 is likely in the writing process and in its early stages as we speak.

14. More EURO-2023 chaos

The Euros will be happening from June 21 to July 8, and something Gayos always seems to happen around the Euros. At the very least Louis will probably tweet about the Euros or we’ll get some fan footage of Louis watching the Euros.

15. One Direction’s 13th Anniversary

This year One Direction will be a teenager (yes I’m cheesy) on July 23. Which also means the 13th anniversary of the iconic moment when Louis jumped into Harry’s arms when the band formed. For no reason. Whatsoever. Obviously.

16. September 28th’s 10th Anniversary

The 10th anniversary of September 28, 2013 is this year. Yes I know this has been debunked but it still matters in our hearts, and if anything, it’s the 10th Larry day.

17. FITF’s 1 Year Anniversary

Considering how unhinged Louis has been for the past year, I feel like we can be pretty sure he’ll manage to outdo the Spotify covers for Faith’s 1 year anniversary on November 11.

18. 10th anniversary of 1D Day’s 10th Anniversary

1D Day occurred on November 23, 2013, meaning the 10th anniversary of it (and Midnight Memories) is this year. This means the the infamous performance of Little Things where Harry stared at Louis the entire time (and almost definitely sang “I’m in love with Lou”) will have happened 10 years ago.

19. Fine Line 4th Anniversary

The 3rd anniversary for Fine Line just happened, where Harry did his “pink and blue forever” post, and for the 4th year on December 13th, I’d say it’ll be something similar.

20. Louis’ 32nd bday

Louis just turned 31 on December 24th, and I wrote this over his birthday so it feesl odd to include, but he does turn 32 in 2023.

21. Narry/Nouis interactions

Niall will be a judge on Season 23 of “The Voice” (premieres March 6), has an album coming out in May, and will be playing several festivals this year. All this means we’ll likely have some Narry and/or Nouis interactions.

Coachella was the most fun I’ve ever had at a festival we played at, I think. I could write a massive list of all the lovely people I enjoyed hanging out with, and the bands that were great, and it would be really sickly, so instead, I’ll try to think of what negatives there were and stick them down here, then serve up some snaps.

SOME NOTES…

Too many fucking industry people. Coachella has a system where if you are wealthy enough, you are important enough. So, within perfect view of the main stage, stands the frankly massive ‘VIP’ bar. Full of the vacuous and self-important, who barely moved except for to watch the headliners, mashed up against metal fencing, uninterested in joining the common festival goers in the main arena. Shame, because we’re much nicer.

Everywhere stank of meat. Barbecues everywhere. Right on Moz.

The girls wanted to go to this ‘gifting’ where there were apparently free clothes and stuff. As a result, I didn’t get to see Liars or Ariel Pink, but that was small fry compared to that THESE WERE THE WORST PEOPLE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. All cocaine beach bodies and sneering. Have you ever read Less Than Zero? It felt like that. All very seedy, rich kid central and all with a bit of a paedoy undercurrent. Not cool. (I wouldn’t have minded so much if there was anything free worth having) (Actually, I did see the racist Indian guy off Flight Of The Conchords, so not so bad).

AND…

So many beautiful people. Yknow in South Park where Kenny has his school photo taken with his arse coming out of his hood, causing Cartman to blow his funny fuse? Well, I feel kinda like that.

Oh yeah, and after we played our set I tried to do a celebratory knee slide, but the ground was really dry and I took all the skin off my knee. The rest of the day I was too drunk to feel it hurt, but the next day I woke up stuck to my bed sheets, with a pussy leg and so got it all bandaged up and stuff. Meant I limped the rest of the weekend. Didn’t get much sympathy either 

But yes, I had a really good time. The best time. Thank you for having us. We’d love to come back one day.

Cristina Martinez

I’ve been a silent stan for some time now, but since being a painter turned curator I had to pay my respects and make this one of the first artists I talk about on my platform.

I hope I do her story justice because it’s kinda like a “you had to be there” feeling.

I’ve been following this artist since around 2016 and I feel like she always had great connections because I would find myself on her instagram page and she’d have comments from other creatives I admired.  The business side of things just hadn’t popped for her yet because I think at this time she was still struggling with whether she should be fully committed to her craft and making it essentially the only source of income for her family. Which I know a looooooottttt of creatives struggle with.  Not sure about the timeline but she used to work in a radiology department scheduling appointments and she actually went to school for fashion design, dropped out and at one point worked in a bridal shop. All the while having her own studio and making time to stop at the post office after a shift to drop an order off.

 Early on in her childhood she talks about being inspired by Bob Ross, watching him all day on tv, wondering how she would ever be able to reach accomplishments like that, feeling it was very far off but still having an urgency to create.

In an interview with Parents Latina she talks about “giving souls to her fashion illustrations.” She describes a feeling of something nagging and taunting her and this being the reason she decided to quit her jobs that were unfulfilling. The transition to full time artist, she admits, was a bumpy one but has turned out to be very fruitful.

Cristina Martinez, is an Afro- Latina who’s work is all about representing stories and experiences of black and brown women. She uses her art to explore issues of race, identity, and culture while challenging stereotypes and preconceptions. Her paintings are colorful, vibrant, full of life, and they often feature women with bold, moody, unapologetic expressions that stare directly out at the viewer. She mentions how there wasn’t any representation for her growing up, besides when she happened upon a Frida Kahlo portrait in a book at the library. Reminding her of the women in her family Frida has always spoken to her since. This is why representation is so important though, and a big part of why she seeks to create images that reflect the diversity and complexity of the people Cristina herself portrays. She is quoted stating “we have to show that we belong here” , “we have to show that we are part of this society and that we have contributed so much to it.” 

One of her projects that myself and many others really connected with was the “Water Me” series. It’s an example of her dedication and perseverance as an artist. The series started as a self portrait project where Cristina attempted to document her mood over the course of a year. She mentions starting out on sticky notes and as it progressed it evolved into about 700 pieces of work. The series is a testament to her creativity, passion, and commitment to her craft. 

Cristina’s work has been featured in a number of publications, including The New York Times, Hypebeast, and W Magazine. She has collaborated with household names such as Lego, Vaseline, and Nordstroms. More recently she has put together a project with her “pARTner” Al Baseer Holly called “2 Sides to Abstract Painting.” An online workshop that walks you through their 2 different ways of approaching art and paintings. She dropped her first print of 2023 “Still Dreaming Back Then” and Made some merch for Coachella…. The Capricorn is capricorning!

She very humbly credits a lot of her success to her family and other black and brown creatives in her community, giving thanks to where thanks is due.

Overall, Cristina Martinez is an artist who is using her work to challenge stereotypes and celebrate the diversity and complexity of the people around her. Her paintings are powerful, inspiring, and full of energy, and they serve as a reminder that representation matters. Frank Ocean’s Return The Elusive Singer Takes the Stage For an Enigmatic Coachella Set Frank Ocean hasn’t performed in six years, but the reluctant superstar returned to the stage at Coachella on Saturday during a headlining show that was sometimes emotional and sometimes baffling. Ocean’s performance was one of the most anticipated sets of the festival this year, and it closed out the three-day music event on an enigmatic note. Earlier in the day, Coachella released an announcement saying that Ocean’s set wouldn’t be livestreamed on YouTube like the rest of the festival, disappointing many fans at home who were hoping to catch the rare opportunity to see Ocean. Fans who did make it to Coachella began flocking to the MainStage area as early as 9:30 p.m. to get decent seats to the show, which was scheduled for 10:05 p.m. However, the crowd grew bigger and more restless as they waited for more than an hour — and many feared Ocean might not show up since he has canceled numerous appearances and tour performances in the past. Ocean finally began playing shortly after 11 p.m., opening abruptly with “Novacane.” The rendition was stunning and pitch-perfect, though Ocean sat in the middle of the stage with his face hidden in a blue hoodie, his back partially turned toward the crowd. Most of the stage was covered by a massive screen, and fans only got a glimpse of the singer through camera angles of him performing from behind it. There were long silent pauses between songs like “Crack Rock” and “White Ferrari,” with Ocean barely saying anything and keeping his interaction with the audience to a minimum. The first time he did speak, he offered an ambiguous album update: “I want to talk about why I’m here because it’s not because of a new album… Not that there’s not a new album,” he said. Slowly, he began opening up more, sharing an emotional memory about the festival, which he first performed at 11 years ago before releasing Channel Orange. He talked about attending with his late brother Ryan Breaux, who died in a a car accident in 2020. “My brother and I came to this festival a lot. I feel like I was dragged by him sometimes because I didn’t want to get a respiratory infection… I would always come here, and one of my fondest memories is watching Rae Sremmurd with my brother… and Travis in that tent,” he said. “I know he would be so excited to be here with all of us. I want to say thank you for the support and the years and the love all this time. Now I’ll get back to the songs.” Later, he turned the show over to DJ Crystal Mess, who performed an EDM-powered interlude of several of his songs. The cameras rolled over to a security guard dancing and Ocean holding the green baby doll he’s known for carrying around and which he brought to the 2019 Met Gala. He tok the mic and shared why he wanted to include the club interlude. “This is fucking chaotic, but so much fun… Looking back I feel like in 2020 when I was just starting to throw parties in little clubs in New York before shit started going down, I was having a good time listening to new music with DJs coming in on their shit… it’s become part of my weekly practice with homer radio. It’s good that it’s not always all about me so I wanted to bring a little of that,” he explained. He also made way for a young piano player who took the stage and lip synced to his songs. “This is Josiah. He’s playing my inner child,” Ocean explained. The piano player replied, “What’s up, Coachella?” making for a sweet moment during the set. Ocean also played an acoustic version of “Self-Control” and the beginning of “Nikes.” He also mouthed the lyrics to “Nights” into the camera. A short while later, while performing a cover of “At Your Best (You Are Love),” Ocean announced, “Guys, I’m being told it’s curfew so that’s the end of the show.” The stage screen went completely black, leaving fans chanting, “One more song!” However, Ocean cut the performance off there and left the stage. This is the first time the musician hits a stage since 2017, when he performed several music festivals in Europe, along with an appearance at Los Angeles’ FYF Fest. Ocean was originally slated to co-headline the 2020 festival with Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott, but after Coachella was rescheduled to spring of 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Ocean was not available for the new dates.
