Also do you ever think about the legal processes of the Academies? Bc i do. All the damn time. "The Academies let students die or get injured all the time and get away with it!" Where??? Did we forget the safety measures put everywhere to prevent that from happening?? Did we miss the fact that there's an entire process where if something DOES go wrong (either during a training mission or even outside of the Academy), those in charge (i.e. Ozpin) have to make sure what happened doesn't happen again (like interviewing the students) otherwise they can get in real trouble and held responsible?? Or the fact that there's no legal waiver prior to joining the Academies, so it's safe to assume you can sue them if something does happen?

Oh wait, these are all easily missable details held in side books or are subtle and easy to pass over while watching the show (like Ozpin lying, saying the students WILL die and that they won't intervene, vs the cameras all around the Emerald Forest and Glynda suggesting they intervene bc of Jaune iirc. Shocking, the liar lied /sar). I guess I can't blame people for missing these things bc most ppl aren't nearly as autistic as I am about this show.

Oh also, like,, when talking about the Academies supposedly being really dangerous and letting students die. If this were a real issue I feel like it would've been addressed by now? Cinder absolutely would've brought it up in v3 (it'd be ooc for her NOT to), and while Hazel's story revolved around Gretchens death, it's not painted as a common issue that's happened to a lot of people (which would've been an interesting plot, if they went that way), just that Gretchen's death was highly unusual and a tragic accident (based on how it was handled). Like. It happens but it's absolutely not common!! And it's surprising it doesn't happen MORE considering the world RWBY takes place in (magical Australia with magical Florida men. Hell of a place. Wdym you have giant desert crabs more dangerous than Grimm and a desert hot enough to turn sweat to steam and wdym Remnant humans are able to just. Casually shrug this shit off?? tbh i think this is a perfect example how much simple words—no matter how truthful or not—take higher precedence in peoples' minds than anything else, no matter how much proof there is against the very same words. and if that proof also requires you to stop and think about it rather than just having plain words delivered to your eyes or ears, well. . .

it's a lot easier and quicker to directly quote ozpin than it is to pile all the proof that proves otherwise—especially when that proof is hidden in side material, which not everyone has access to in the same capacity as the show itself. if the show had had something like, either ozpin or glynda sending a message to some unnamed hunters to be on the stand-by during the initiation, or even something as simple as on a later date showcasing the cameras used during the initiation also having a taser that can be used against grimm, that'd already make a huge difference.

but when all you've got is "do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die." and "you will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene." it's like. well. what can you do lol.

and like it wouldn't make any sense for them to not intervene and just let new students die on their first day like. the world presumably needs hunters and it's not very good practice if you allow those willing to learn and train to become one to die before they even get properly started. like i feel like any headmaster who was losing even just one first-year student every year during initiation would get kicked out pretty quickly. i mean, who would actually accept that? even as a civilian i'd be like, hey, those people want to actually do the pretty important job, why aren't you keeping them alive while at school so they can actually do that, ya know?

it's one thing to accept the fact that hunters die during a job; it's another thing to find it acceptable when they're still in school training, and to treat the latter as a norm is the same as treating the populace of remnant as idiots with no regard to human lives.

but there's definitely bias at play, too. while i am of the mind that the academies—or more like the system they're part of—needs changing ( namely the whole "the combat schools start training kids at age 13" part ), there's definitely some of that "character bad so their every action is bad, too" mentality running around too.

which i'm not too surprised about. i've seen it a lot with people criticizing ironwood's actions like. . . ya can't really say that ironwood having two seats at atlas council is bad while also saying that he was wrong to report everything directly to the rest of vale's council and not just ozpin, just bc it got ozpin into a hot water. like that just doesn't compute, and i feel like the same applies to a lot of discussion around ozpin and the academies, as well.

sure, there are things to criticize about ozpin's methods—like yeah sending scouts first is smart, but those scouts being first-year students who shouldn't be in that area in the first place bc special treatment for secret war reasons and stuff? not that smart, send pros pls—, but that doesn't mean you need to throw the baby away with the bath water.

For Wen Kexing and Zhou Zishu:

you've got the founder of the fantasy ancient Chinese CIA and the leader of what is essentially the mafia and then they're soulmates and in love. they're both willing to kill anyone who dares hurt the other while also just wanting a soft domestic life together

Zhou Zishu is an assassin and spymaster who put the current Emperor on the throne, and then quit his job by faking his death (kinda, hes still dying but not as fast as he was supposed to). Had done A Lot on his old job, including murdering children (more than one, and at least one of them in a way I can't even describe without several trigger warnings), exterminating whole families, war crimes (and i dont mean this in a buzzword way, i mean "organized a public execution of foreign diplomats during war time")… btw he doesn't feel particularly bad about any of this, because he believes it was necessary. Like he wouldn't do it for fun, but he thinks the ends (putting a good Emperor on the throne) justified the means (all of the atrocities). As a retiree, he definitely cut down on the amount of morally reprehensible murder, but not murder in general. He still routinely kills ppl, he just doesn't go out of his way to kill more. Wen Kexing, meanwhile, is the Ghost Valley Master - Ghost Valley being a place where the worst of criminals are exiled. Even in such a place, he has reputation as a complete lunatic, owed partially to the fact that he either skinned a man or fed him his own flesh or both at one point, and partially to him having a rule where he would kill anyone who came closer than 3 meters to him. But in truth, everything he'd done was to survive the Ghost Valley and eventually take revenge for his parents, who were brutally murdered when he was only nine. By the start of the novel's timeline, he put his plan in motion - the plan that would drown jianghu in blood, but also deliver poetic justice to all responsible for his parents' deaths, as well as all who'd commit the same crime given the chance. And these two men, these two murderers and schemers, meet - and unexpectedly, find in each other the person who /understands/. The person who is just as ruthless and whose hands are just as bloody, but also the person who knows standing at the top of the world is not worth it, who seeks the same freedom of leaving it all behind, and who is still, underneath it all, a human, with human heart seeking connection. So you have this couple who understand each other with barely a word, and who want the same things - who are so hungry for domesticity and for people they can just goof around with when all their lives they had to measure every step and word - but ALSO where one half a couple is like "i gotta go murder hundreds in revenge" and the other half is like "ok pick you up at 6". (This btw is why I'm submitting novel's iteration of the couple in particular. Show wenzhou with their ridiculous breakups over morality could Never.) Also they were both hiding who they are when they first met, and later flirted about having figured each other out. Finally, I'll leave you my favorite quote that just. perfectly sums up their relationship: "And just like that, they fell asleep in each other's arms, steeped in the smell of blood."

You’ve probably already had submissions for them but I’ll add on. One of them founded an assassin’s guild and killed a staggering number of people. His malewife is the leader of a sect of insane murderous outcasts, and he attained his position by proving to be the most crazy and murder happy of them all. Most of the plot involves him wandering around watching his schemes get more people killed. Together they adopt a kid that was only orphaned due to said scheming (oops). They’re terrible and I love them.

Im not disagreeing re Trapper Complex and ppl in fandom centering it just a little too much, but there was a whole episode dedicated in part to bj feeling jealous of people (because hes a massively envious guy generally) and the jealousy he feels towards trapper in particular seems pretty consequential. And also the added meta context that bj is structurally there in the narrative to replace trapper in the first place....i understand that its rlly significant. It honestly felt kind of novel to me that a sitcom character felt the strain of his narrative position that way (as klinger also feels replacing radar in the plot structurally) i feel like a lot of sitcoms try to cover the artiface of these scenarios by staunchly avoiding this context, but mash rlly leans into the skid instead (not just how bj demonstrates a bit of diegetic strain from replacing trapper if that makes sense, but also with killing henry and replacing him with potter so that the characters of mash feel the same apprehension and resentment towards potter that the audience inevitably would by virtue of him replacing henry blake regardless of how henry's character left the narrative) I hope this isnt coming off "um, actually" or unfriendly or something btw! In case thats not apparent id like it stated clearly that this is benign. Im very curious of ur thoughts on this matter tho if ur willing to talk on it?

Hey, no worries, I appreciate the opportunity to clarify! I think my frustration with “the Trapper complex” is that it’s an oversimplification and misrepresentation of why BJ might be jealous of Trapper. I think there’s absolutely jealousy, because Trapper got to be close to Hawkeye and build the still with him AND he got to go home and be with his wife and daughters - he got the best of both worlds. BJ’s only at the 4077th because Trapper went home and he’s miserable because he’s missing out on his daughter’s formative years, and there’s nothing he can do about it. So yeah, he’s definitely jealous of him! But I don’t think it’s because Trapper’s dick was bigger or because BJ thinks that Hawkeye liked him more or whatever, which is how I’ve often see it referenced.

This ties into the thing that irritates me most about the Trapper complex, which is that it’s sometimes used as an excuse to sort of … slam on BJ’s character in a way that I think is straight up dull. Essentially, I hate that fandom constantly pits them against each other. I find it exhausting because there’s no “winner” in those debates! Trapper and BJ serve the show well in their own ways during the time that they’re there. Trapper is a great partner for Hawkeye in the early, more satirical seasons and BJ is a great partner for Hawkeye in the later, more dramatic seasons. It’s not any deeper than that. You may like one more than the other, and that’s okay! But I personally think it’s pointless to compare them and suggest that one of them was better than the other, and too frequently the Trapper complex seems to come up in that context, as though it proves some kind of point about which character is better.

Just wanted to add that the thing that was annoying me & sparked that post in the first place was that multiple people were ignoring the part of the Mike Farrell interview clip where he fully admitted that he was wrong in thinking that the role he would eventually fill wouldn’t be difficult! He owns up to his own hubris and I think that was very sexy of him.

Why would he leave?

Like, what would he possibly achieve by running away from his home and leaving the few friends he has left behind?. Kakashi is not like those characters who are like "I got hurt so everyone should hurt too and feel the same pain I felt" no, Kakashi is the kind of character who is like "I got hurt so I don't want anyone else to ever go through what I went through" so he stayed and did his best to protect his friends and the the innocent ppl that he swore to protect when he decided to be a ninja. So what good would running a way and abandoning all of those people would achieve? Leaving the village won't get him anywhere. Like seriously, what would he do after he leaves? Join the Akatsuki and hurt even more innocent ppl? Or just keep running for the rest of his life without doing anything useful at all?! And he did answer your question in chapter 630. When he said "The hole in one's heart gets filled by others around you. People won't flock to someone who abandons the memory of his friends and gives up on the world just because things don't go the way he wants them to. That won't help fill the hole in your heart. And this is the difference between Kakashi and Naruto, and all the other characters that "left". No matter how bad he was hurt, he still had hope for a better future, he still did his best to make a change that would actually count and help someone or protect someone. And he didn't only dream of changing Konoha for the best because it wasn't just Konoha, he dreamed of changing the entire Shinobi world so no one would ever get hurt again the same way he and his team got hurt.

Kakashi is not the kind of person who would act upon his emotions alone, he never does anything that isn't well calculated and that's what makes him the tactical genius he is, even when he failed those students that came before team 7, he didn't fail them because he's depressed or because he was being bitter, he failed them because they weren't ready, because they would have probably been killed if they passed and started to take missions and they themselves thanked him for that

So by staying he did far more good than he could have ever done if he acted like a rebellious teenager and just left. He saved those kids he failed from getting killed in some mission because they were made Shinobi before they were ready, he protected his friends, students and his ppl countless of times and as a result he became Hokage later and helped even more ppl even beyond his nation, by maintaining the peace that they all fought so hard for by creating the exchange system between the Shinobi world that kept them all needing each other and stopped any possible conflict that might occur, he cleaned the village from the corrupt system and all the damage that was still left by Danzo and his followers as mentioned in Kakashi Retsuden, he even forbade killing, even of enemies, to stop the cycle of hatred and revenge... and so many other things he did as a Hokage that I will leave for another post that didn't just help Konoha but helped the entire world like he once dreamed as a kid. He would have never been able to do any of this if he simply just left the village. Throwing a tantrum then leaving the village and not actually doing anything good to change things isn't what makes a character cool imo, but standing their ground, fighting for their beliefs, helping others and trying to make a change is what makes a character cool and that's one of so many reasons Kakashi is my favorite character.

 He should have known you were plotting something the moment you told him to wait out in the hall and that you would be ready in a moment. You’d never had an issue with getting dressed in front of him before though Newt would always face the other way to give you privacy like a true gentleman.

It’s very interesting to see your thoughts on Winnik cause personally while I like that he made jason a bit unhinged and fun in utrh his other characterizations of his were eh at best. Like why would jason not care about the world and why would he take over the drug trade of all things considering his history. I feel like Winnick had a very surface level understanding of Jason. There was a lot of his past to explore but it wasn’t explored that deeply. Plus I absolutely HATED his Bruce and talia characterization. And how he wrote Talia in both utrh and lost days was absolutely disgusting and his explanation for why he did it was that Jason loves Talia and that they were both messed up ppl??? Which is where I can’t forgive him. I feel like he was a one hit wonder because ever since utrh his Jason story started to go downhill. I also feel like it’s because DC doesn’t know how to write a character that’s from a poor background and that’s a huge disservice to Jason. I do hope that Rosenberg or another writer (hopefully female) does a good job on him. He’s been suffering under shitty writing for so long. Sorry for the long ask I really enjoy reading your posts.

Well, this is a great question because I love giving my opinions on Winick’s UtRH and Lost Days. I know those books (or some moments in them) are not everyone’s cup of tea and I had and have some problems with some of them but I have also come to understand them or even accept them as a writer bringing up a morally grey area in his books and doing it well (or at least I saw it that way after re-reading and researching a bit about his thoughts on those matters).

This is going to be a long post (I suppose) because there is a lot to cover and I want to let you know in a clear way why I think that what Winick wrote works beautifully for Jason. I will try to answer this as coherently as I can, so I will talk about the points you made in your ask separately so I make sure I don’t forget anything.

“Why would Jason not care about the world?”

I assume with that you meant about what happened in Bludhaven when Chemo was dropped there by the Society? That is valid but that really wasn’t Winick’s fault (I believe), that whole thing was shown in the book because back then the Bat-related books were more interconnected and that was what was happening in Dick’s Nightwing run at the time, which I think was used to explain why Dick suddenly stopped helping Bruce in Gotham.

And then I think Jason and Bruce watching that happen when they were having that conversation on that roof was very well planned out. I think Winick used that opportunity for Jason to be his peak level of little shit and make Bruce feel bad about not arriving in time to save another one of his kids. Even though Jason later revealed that he never blamed Batman for not arriving in time to save him, I believe Jason said that about Dick to make Bruce hurt more. Jason was trying to make Bruce stay in Gotham so either Bruce or him killed the Joker that night. Winick on the other hand had to finish his story, him branching out and having Batman go to Bludhaven would have benefited absolutely no one either, and it just didn’t fit the story that was being told in Under the Red Hood.

That’s why I think that Jason reacted that way to the Bludhaven and Chemo situation. If by caring about the world you meant something else let me know! (He obviously cared about Gotham in UtRH and other people in Lost Days).

“Why would he take over the drug trade of all things considering his history?”

Well, I have to be honest with you Jason wanting to control the drug trade in Gotham makes absolute sense to me, and even more when I think about Jason’s past history.

Jason and Bruce have always been (to me) clear opposites in various angles, and in UtRH, Winick talks about that a little bit too.

Batman was created to eradicate crime from Gotham after Bruce witnessed the death of his parents, that was the tragedy that set him off, and even though it was tragic and awful he had everything outside of his parents, he had a home, a support system, people that cared and gave him love, and money. He never had to be in contact with the cruel reality that was Gotham. We know through various stories that Gotham is deeply rotten and corrupted.

But Jason did know how corrupted, rotten and devoid of hope his city really was, he lived in the streets and in an abandoned apartment alone because he didn’t trust the police or social workers (he didn’t believe the system was helpful). He had seen his mother die at the hands of drugs after his father was sent to jail due to his criminal behaviour. Probably his father was a drug dealer and was the person that got his mother into drugs, (I believe that was later made canon, I might be wrong). But why did he do that? Maybe because he came from a poor and complicated background and nobody wanted to employ him so the real bad people of Gotham, like Black Mask, Cobblepot and many others, saw his vulnerability and his desperation to make money and they gave him a job as a drug dealer.

Considering that Jason was made out to have very deep problems with people selling drugs in schools and all that, I can estimate that maybe one of the big Drug Lords at the time employed Jason’s father when he was barely a teenager, that way he earned money, he stopped going to school and sold drugs to his peers so the bad people could control more people while they were vulnerable.

If all of that is true then Jason wanting to control the drug trade in Gotham, by becoming a Drug Lord himself, makes perfect sense to me. I mean let’s talk about this, what were his other options?

Kill every drug lord?

What if that set off a gang war in Gotham over who got to be the next big Drug Lord? I mean, it would be like real life, if someone dies in that sort of position there would always be someone else to take their place. Drugs are clearly (in Gotham) a great way to get money and power.

Also, if he killed all the drug lords then what happened to the people that were working for them, how could Jason help them get another job?

Explode every warehouse and facility with drugs in them?

And then what? Wait for Black Mask and the others to buy more and put a target on his back? Maybe kill some innocents so they can send a message to Red Hood that if he keeps destroying their drugs or whatever people will pay for it?

Maybe all the drug lords would come together and kill the Red Hood themselves, what could one man do against everyone else? Black Mask and the others had vulnerable people on a payroll, if they stopped working or went against what their boss said they would have been killed and then families would still be vulnerable and desperate to survive in Gotham.

Come forward as Jason Todd, the not so dead son of Bruce Wayne, and start a campaign against drugs?

Jason would have ended up dead in seconds, everywhere you look there are corrupt people. What could have been the point of that? What could have Jason be able to give families like his so they could stop living under the control of drugs and Drug Lords?

Jason being a Drug Lord himself was the best option because Jason KNOWS the reality of Gotham and Gotham’s people. His way of dealing with drugs could control the drug trade in the first 10 years and then eradicate it after that time. His plan was genius!

Jason knew that for people not to suffer as his family did, he had to take the slow and hard path of becoming the thing that he hated the most. He needed to attack the monster from within. So, when he made his first move he controlled the street-level dealers, he told them “I will protect you from both Black Mask and Batman if you stop dealing drugs to kids and in schoolyards if you do that, you are dead”, it is genius! By being clear about not wanting to have kids and high schoolers involved with drugs he set out a new path where those people weren’t forced into drugs and driven away from school. And that’s the way Winick made us see Jason’s not so new morals, he protects Gotham’s kids and he will kill you without hesitation if you endanger them.

From that he built, Winick made it clear, at first Jason would convince the people working for other Drug Lords to work for him if they followed his rules (and he offered them protection!). If Jason worked on the drug trade, he could have controlled who was inserted in the drug life or could have made it exclusive to the rich or club exclusive. In his intention of taking over the drug trade, he could have moved drugs away from Gotham’s most vulnerable.

And if he employed those vulnerable people, he would have made them work for him on other levels, that way those vulnerable people still had jobs and were protected from people like Black Mask. And in due time, fewer young and poor people would be involved with drugs or the drug trade.

Red Hood employs poor people and makes them not sell to other poor people or kids, he pays his employees good money so their families make a better life for themselves and their kids go to school, they are all protected by the Red Hood and his team (Jason could have trained others and make a team or gang that focused entirely on security), those people then get to retire with their families far away from drugs and maybe Gotham too.

I mean, Winick never did those things but I think that was the way he was thinking about it, he really set a golden path for future writers, his story had to finish Jason’s dilemma with Bruce and Joker but then his life as the Red Hood continued. And it could have been good if other writers used the characterization that Winick had given Jason: protector of children, killer of rapists and everyone that endangered women, children and teenagers. All of that was thrown away for a mythical fight with Ra’s al Ghul for people that were as trashy as Ra’s.

“I feel like Winick had a very surface-level understanding of Jason”.

I have to disagree. I think he understood Jason’s character before his death well and then built a grown-up version of him with those morals more developed after he suffered more and then saw how the world and Batman’s ways hadn’t changed after his murder.

We are talking about post-crisis Jason here; he was sweet and he loved being Robin but he also saw the world differently from Bruce and Batman. He lived a very different life than the one that Bruce lived when he was a kid. Jason even said that he “could fend for himself just fine” and that he had “graduated from the streets of crime alley”.

To me Winick understood this completely, he knew that Jason had had close contact with how drugs could affect people and what a criminal record could lead you to, but he also understood that Jason was a survivor of "crime alley" and all its worst people. He probably knew of things that people were doing of he saw them happening. He knew how to protect himself from those things but understood that not everyone could do it. And when Batman took him to Ma Gunn’s school Jason learned that Batman was ignorant of how awful and manipulative Gotham’s people could be. Ma Gunn wasn’t running an orphanage or cool school; she was teaching children how to steal and harm others. He hated it, he was “okay” when he was alone and now, he was locked in with older kids that beat him and Ma Gunn who was exploiting children’s vulnerability.

I assume Winick took that and maybe decided that was the moment when Jason knew that even if Batman was trying to do good, he still didn’t see Gotham (or that side of Gotham) for what it truly was.

When Jason became Robin and worked along with Batman, we could already see that Jason thought very differently about what should be done with rapists, and abusers of all kinds, Jason saw the world differently when he was a kid and a teenager and then after his death, Winick used that to build a Jason Todd that as a young adult still saw Gotham for what it truly was.

“There was a lot of his past to explore but it wasn’t explored that deeply”.

I am really confused by this (and I am very dumb), did you mean that his past before his death wasn’t explored? Because that was not the point of this book, the information was already there with Jason’s previous appearances in comics, and even then, Winick explored through flashbacks in UtRH how he saw Jason and what it was that Jason thought about crime.

If you didn’t mean that and you meant his past before the events of UtRH but after his death then, well, I would say that Winick couldn’t have fit that in UtRH but he did write a story about that time in 2010 when he wrote Red Hood: Lost Days.

“I absolutely hated his Bruce and Talia characterization”

I will only talk about the Bruce part here because you mentioned Talia later in your ask.

To me his Bruce was perfect. I really think that his characterization of him was spot on, but maybe I am biased because I don’t like Bruce at all? I suppose that you are talking about Bruce’s characterization in those last moments in "crime alley" with Jason and Joker? And how he decided that making Jason drop the weapon by throwing a batarang to his throat and saving Joker was a better option than Jason killing the Joker?

If it is that then I would love to see what you think Bruce would have done at that moment because I didn’t really see Bruce using a gun (in any way) as an in-character thing for him, and even though DC has always danced with the idea of Bruce actually killing somebody I know that they wouldn’t have him do it, and even less when it comes to killing the Joker.

I mean, Bruce brought back Joker from the dead when Dick finally killed that piece of shit so, yeah, I don’t know.

I feel like Winick was trying to show just how loyal and squared Bruce is when it comes to his own no killing rule. Jason wasn’t asking for Bruce to go on a killing spree he just wanted Bruce to kill the Joker and he didn’t. Winick even had Bruce say that about him not wanting to kill one person because he felt that if he did that, he wouldn’t be able to stop and I think that’s pretty true. Maybe it is a bit too much but I don’t think it’s a lie.

“How he wrote Talia in both UtRH and Lost Days was absolutely disgusting”

That is absolutely valid, listen, if you didn’t like how he wrote her at all I really can’t say anything against that. My first real and solid contact with Talia’s character was in that book, so when I read UtRH I really liked how he wrote Talia in that, it seemed to have that aspect of Talia’s love for Bruce being so strong that when she saw Jason was alive, she wanted to help him so Bruce could see how much he loved her. It is messed up but I believed it fitted her character, she had good intentions but her reasoning was a little bit wonky.

With Lost Days, I thought that her character was well written, she isn’t a hero and she isn’t a villain, she is just a player in the game that is the League of Assassins and that world. That obviously changed up until we had that scene happen between her and Jason, I was grossed out and I didn’t understand why that had happened which leads me to what you said next in your ask.

“His explanation for why he did it was that Jason loves Talia and that they were both messed up people”.

This is a part of the interview where Judd Winick answered a question about Jason and Talia sleeping together. The interview was done by Sara Lima in ComicVine’s podcast.

“SL: Why did you decide to write the romantic scene between Jason and Talia in Lost Days?

JW: For those playing at home, Jason Todd, at the end of Red Hood: Lost Days, and Talia slept together. I did that because it was really disturbing and to shine a light on the fact that these are not really well people. A lot of people didn’t like that, which was correct. “You weren’t supposed to like that. That was supposed to be, ‘oh God, stop that, what are you doing?’ It really was. As well as, for Talia, her reasons, being that Bruce had wound up inadvertently killing her father and she was ragingly angry with him and went from love to pure hate and still loving him at the same time. And Jason, given the opportunity to have sex with just about the only woman who Bruce has had sex with or really cares about, ‘Yeah, I’ll go there.’

SL: He’s like, ‘yeah, cause I hate that guy.’

JW: Yeah! ‘I hate that guy!’ And I think that Jason probably had the hots for Talia. She’s hot, he doesn’t exactly have a lot of relationships going on – It’s not a good thing for either of them. These are two people who murder people, two people who are screwed up, screwed up emotionally. There’s this question that why would he do that and Talia only loves Bruce. She might only love Bruce, but she does have sex with other people because that’s just sex. And we’re all grown-ups here. I think those who shake their fist and get angry at this kind of thing might be some of our older readers. I’m an older reader, but I acknowledge the fact that people aren’t that chaste and grow up: people have sex. That’s why I ended it like that; It was messed up.

Maybe it was in another interview or something but this is the only time that I have seen Winick talk about that and I don’t think he mentioned Jason loving Talia but he did say said that “These are two people who murder people, two people who are screwed up, screwed up emotionally”.

When I looked it up, I found that someone that is described as screwed up is a person that is “emotionally disturbed”. That description is one that I feel is valid for both Jason and Talia at the time, they both had a lot going on and were fighting some demons so maybe it’s not a nice thing to say but I can’t say that the statement isn’t true. Or at least that’s how I see it.

When I came across that interview for the first time, I wasn’t expecting Winick to apologise for writing that interaction but I did want an explanation so after he said, “A lot of people didn’t like that, which was correct. “You weren’t supposed to like that. That was supposed to be, ‘oh God, stop that, what are you doing?’ It really was” and “for Talia, her reasons, being that Bruce had wound up inadvertently killing her father and she was ragingly angry with him and went from love to pure hate and still loving him at the same time. I felt like that was enough, granted I didn’t like it and I still don’t like it but I don’t see it as Winick writing something disturbing with evil intentions, I just see it as him writing these two morally grey people doing some very morally grey stuff.

This is not me saying that this is how things have to be taken, I know and understand many people who absolutely don’t like this at all and that’s valid. I am not here to change your mind about that, personally when I read the why he wrote that I felt like that explanation was enough but that is just me.

“I feel like he was a one-hit-wonder because ever since UtRH his Jason story started to go downhill”

I think Winick was only meant to write Jason’s comeback to comics, around the time he was writing Outsiders and Green Arrow. And there was also the “Infinite Crisis” (Winick wasn’t involved with that one) event going on in the middle that explained some stuff like how Jason was resurrected which was explored in Batman Annual #25 in 2006 (like a year after the UtRH book had come out and it was also written by Winick). Then with the popularity of the UtRH book the animated movie was made (written by Judd Winick) and because that was coming out DC allowed Winick to write the six-issue mini of Red Hood: The Lost Days in 2010.

The UtRH story didn’t go downhill, DC simply couldn’t handle that level of mature storytelling at the time, just after that event ended DC was already planning on changing stuff and then the New 52 came years later.

Winick’s Jason even made an appearance in Outsiders #44-46, there Red Hood wanted to help the Outsiders break out a good man (Black Lightning) out of prison because he hadn’t killed anyone (it had actually been Slade). Jason/Red Hood’s characterization and story going downhill wasn't on Winick, it was on DC and their lack of interest in making their characters complex and dual.

“DC doesn’t know how to write a character that’s from a poor background and that’s a huge disservice to Jason”

Absolutely. But in my case, I do think that Winick did work with Jason’s background very well. To me, he set a path and no one could follow it but I might also be horribly wrong.

I also hope that Rosenberg does an amazing job! I absolutely love his work, as I have said before he is super funny and isn’t scared of writing characters who kill. I feel like he will bring back the sarcastic little shit that Jason once was but he will also bring back that sense of seriousness and dedication that Jason has for the work that he is doing. Rosenberg even showed us some of that in that prelude to Task Force Z in Detective Comics, I absolutely recommend them if you haven’t read them, issues #1041 and #1042 were the ones with that backup story.

I can see that we have very different opinions but that’s just a part of the comic world, we all perceive these comics differently and that’s valid! I am glad you enjoy reading my posts and I hope that even though we have those different opinions you were still able to enjoy my answer! I wanted to ask your opinion about Claudia's development in the show and her dynamics with Lestat and Louis respectively. I have mixed feelings, but I'd like to know what you think.

Okay yeah so I waited until the finale to answer this one and I also have mixed feelings. Nothing is anything wrong with the character more I just disagree with the situations they force her into but overall I really loved Claudia and Baily Bass did an amazing job.

I loved her in Ep 4, I didn't like her calling Lestat "Uncle" but I was willing to overlook this as simply a way they are showing the period homophobia. No notes

Ep 5 I love her being a little murder machine. Lestat wanted her to be heartless and vicious, fine, she is the monster he made her. However this episode is when we see that Lestat does not see her as a daughter which is a change I HATE. The backstory they gave her is she went from one abusive household to another, and Louis and Lestat, who are supposed to be her chance at happiness, also turn out abusive and Lestat doesn't love her. There is also a racial aspect to Lestat, a white father, not loving his black daughter that just....

Then Claudia runs away from home. I knew this spoiler ahead of time and it didn't make sense, she was supposed to be dependent on loustat bc she was a child, that was part of the horror. But I was willing to suspend my disbelief and see what they did. I was talking to @babytrappinglouis and she had a good idea that just a young black girl alone in the Jim Crow south could have been what caused her to struggle alone. They could have emphasized that in a lot of ways Claudia had been protected by her wealth and having a white man in her family, but once those protections go away the white ppl treat her like shit. And this is something you DO see with Louis in the show. But that isn't what they did. They had her sexually assulted to "toughen her up" and have her "learn her lesson". Horrible.

I think Louis was right in keeping her diary entries private, her diary was not written with the intention of showing the world. In a lot of ways showing it to Daniel is already a violation of her privacy.

Then she goes home and experiences horrific abuse. And I REALLY object to Louis being a part of that, telling Claudia to try and get along with Lestat. I don't think Louis would have ever let Lestat touch a hair on her head or said that. I also just don't like Claudia being "Louis's sister" and having to care for him. She is in a caretaker role Ep 6 and 7. She has experienced some horrible abuse yet she has to take care of the men. This to me plays a lot into stereotypes of expecting black women to be super strong and always caring for others before herself. And like Lestat, who had basically experienced the same shit as Claudia, abusive dad, sexual assult, gets to be horrible. None of this would be bad on paper if it were a commentary on how black women and girls are expected to be strong in face of adversity, but it's hard to give the show the benefit of the doubt. The show is very "big flashing neon arrow" about it's themes. It's not subtle. I hope that they do address this later, either through Daniel or Claudia herself, saying she should have to be the one carrying Louis, she is supposed to be his daughter, and even if she is his sister, the care needs to be reciprocal then, right? All I'm asking is to call it out and I'll be less pissy.

I genuinely think they changed a lot of things to make Claudia's trauma worse bc they were afraid that audiences wouldn't sympathize with Claudia killing Lestat. And the thing that makes me :/ about that is this is an adaptation where they changed the race of Claudia from white to black, so what does it say that they made the black girl got through SO much worse shit to seem sympathetic? It makes me think of how black people say this all the time, that white ppl don't believe them until they see the traumaporn, they have to watch the video of George Floyd dying to believe/care.

And I don't doubt that the fandom would have acted that way if Lestat hadn't been so horrible, they probably would object to her killing Lestat if it had been for less.

It may be that they use what happened to Claudia and Louis as a contrast to Lestat's and point out how much more sympathetic society is why white ppl and men. They might use it to point out how Lestat is allowed to act out and externalize his issues more. And if they do that I'll eat my words. But I will still always at the point of Claudia's story just being nonstop pain and a lot of what we saw being pretty graphic.

Oh and I almost forgot, I ADORED her in ep 7 and I loved Louis trying to silence her, tearing out the pages of her diary, the false memory, but the real Claudia will not be silenced.

Ok hear me out. Why would the Noldor resort to Kinslaying? Why would the Noldor travel across an icy wastland to reach middle earth? Why? I have some thoughts:

First thought is that when the trees died and the world plunged in darkness is that everyone went a little stir crazy. If you imagine livong ur life for thousands of years with the lights on, one day waking up to find it so dark you can't see your hand infront of your face. So to begin everyone is afra8d of the dark and start hoarding lights.

we are all currently living through a pandemic and what was the first thing we did. Stockpile. The first born on Valinor probably stockpiled everything from lanters to wheat to water because they were so unsure of what was going to happen to them.

furthermore I believe the death of the trees brought upon famine and shortages. No light to keep crops growing? no food. The diet of later ages of elves is vegan in nature, and if nothing grows, theres no food. If theres no food people starve.

as a result hunting might have increased. parties going out by torchlight and hunting in the pitch dark of drowsy and confused animals might not sit right with many of the more osnwe sensative elves that can taste the fear in the meat.

Yavanna stricken with grief might have retreated further into herself leaving the world barren and bare. Her Maia might have saught to protect her wildlife as best they could without killing the first borns but in the same breath leaving them to waste away.

I wonder if Alaquande actually made a good profit during all this time. Not intentionally maybe but the fish are easier to catch and the constant use of their ships and tools means they must charge more coin, trade more precious things so that they can keep their ppl fed

its easy to assume that tentions got high. that ppl became resentful of what others had and protective of the little that they had.

then maybe the younger elves become ill. starved of food and light they are week. Babies are born fragile and some don't live to see the tide come in

I'm not saying Feanor wasnt proud and tainted by the Silmarils and Morgoths lust for them. But I also dont think he would have garnered the following he would have on spite alone. His ppl were desperate. And when Finwe died it was the final straw.

No king. No light. No food. And their families suffering some were driven to kill.

That being said I also thing that the younger elves had hopes of retreaving the Silmarils for a purpose. To restore the trees.

Not to be a nerd on main but I believe that when Feänor made the Silmarils he used purly resources from the trees. I think Yavanna allowed him because she wanted to see how he would honour her work.

He used the sap, the leaves the soil and the flowers. Bark and root and even collected the light itself to make stones that in my mind are like magical resin shell holding magical glitter inside. I have popsocket on my phone that has purple glitter on it and I would stare at it and play with it for ages if given the opportunity IMAGINE THAT except its the most breathtaking mixture of petals and clouds of pale soil all flouting in a shimmerong mixture of gold and silver that just keeps glisening and turing and revealing something else that keeps catching ur eye.

In more innocent days that was the beauty of them. When Morgoth turned his eye and intent on them that beauty inevitably, as is the tradgedy of Morgoth, became tainted too.

So Feanor is obsessed. Ppl are dying. I think someone like Fingon would just go to war over a pretty face and an ancient friendship. well ok maybe he would. But i dont think it was his loyalty to Maedhros alone. I think he truly believed that they needed the Silmarils back to restore their home. To save their people and bring justice to all the wrong that their taking caused.

I think the Feänorians were angry and grieving but I also think they genuinely thought it was the right thing to do. That is of course until they got to the shore and watched the ships burn and realised they weren't following a king that wanted to save their ppl. But a madman hellbent on getting back what belongs to him.

However I also think that there was a lot of fighting between houses because of this. For glory, or for protection for their family, maybe ppl became more paranoid as a result of the tradgedy. And then divided into parties when Feanor raised his sword to Fingolfin. There are so many ways this can be twisted.

K IM FINALLY FREE [for now] SO I CAN RAMBLE A BIT

SO just a tiny disclaimer! this is just a collection of like lore-like toughts that I personally have! this is by no means canon n its more of an au born out of low-key speculating! so yeah!

FIRST THINGS FIRST: The Reazon they are there WELL, the world ended! sort of! its slowly being corrupted by an end portal that well, "went wrong", so the end is basically leaking into the overworld but since its another dimension its like, sucking out the life of the overworld so it can sustain itself, this causes the spawn rates of mobs to be higher and if you manage to touch the primary source of the corruption, that's also where the ender sickness comes from!

So while the world was going to shit, wilbur and tommy managed to Barely gain some admin powers n create a 100x100 barrier from the corruption, they tried to get every1 they could in the lil safe zone they made but only got the few that are playing in the smp now! Why is it Hardcore!

Well, since wilbur n tomy got their admin powers very last minute, they weren't powerful enough to actually sustain their lil safe zone, so some sacrifices had to be made! so every1 that made it into the safe zone had to give up their ability to re-spawn to contribute sort-of to the magic that keeps them alive!

Why does it only last 30 days?

Well after getting as much ppl as they could in the safe zone Wilbur n Tommy realized that they had underestimated a bit the corruption, so in a desperate attempt at saving every1 when the corruption hit their zone, they sacrificed their admin powers, but like I said, the corruption is strong so even with their sacrifice they only managed to get the barriers to be strong enough to keep away the corruption for 30 days! now they have to find a way to either survive the corruption or End the corruption!

Some things about what I think about Hardcore!

Well, these r just some lil details abt hardcore that I have :] They have their one life marked in different parts of their body! this depends on their personality! like Phil has it on the middle of his collar bones, tubbo on his back, ranboo just above where the heart is [as in the organ], etc!

they ofc all have different designs [I shall draw em later :*] that show how much experience they have living in hardcore! that's why phil's is the classic hardcore heart

Once they die, much like in the dsmp, they go to the afterlife, which changes basically from person to person, when phil died since well, his friends are all alive there n stuff he feels like there's nothing waiting for him there in the afterlife [he is WRONG there's mumza but shes still a bit far away from his afterlife to come to get him so sadge] so that why he is in a black n cold room

OK NOW, WHAT ABOUT RANBOO?

WELL, he was the last one to make it into the safe zone! the corruption had already arrived when he was making it through and that's where it got him! so his hardcore heart is a lil corrupted n that's how he gained his ender sickness!

The barriers help him battle the ender sickness but well, after 30 days the ender sickness will take over and he will become an enderman [like his mc skin]

he is trying to find a cure but so far hasn't succeeded

He theorized with tubbo that once he becomes an enderman, he'll loose all of his memories n just wander around like an actual enderman. [this is mostly true, ppl who get infected by ender sickness if they allow themselves to believe it is the end for them n stuff they WILL be consumed by it but!! if you manage to steel yourself n sort of accept that its going to happen instead of fighting it then you'll be fine! bit weird on how I explained it but I think ye get it]

Okay so. I watched Q-force. And I have no idea what I think about it.

Imma just be rambling so I'll break down the characters and my likes/dislikes about them before giving my plot breakdown at the end. Only the main/prominent ones because I don't have time.

Steve Maryweather-Easily the best character out of them, with Deb being a close second. He could've very easily fallen into the trope of being someone who was incompetent but expected the world anyway, but he doesn't. He graduated top of his class, and despite his quirks is a genuinely competent team leader, and wants the best for his team. He wants to prove that he and his team are competent enough to get recognition, and has a genuine faith in the people around him. It was refreshing to see him hold his team in a genuine high regard, where a lot of times it's like "We're shit but lets do this thing now" He's a genuinely well-rounded character, and (and forgive me if this isn't the best way to frame this) it feels like being gay is an important part of his character, without encompassing the whole thing. I thought Benji and his relationship was super cute and I was sad when they broke up. I was afraid he was going to be, like a second but worse Twink with the stereotyping but gladly fell away from that.

Deb-I thought her and her wife were super cute (though I hate how the wife is designed ngl adjafkldajfd). I liked Debs character, but I feel like she had a lot of racial stereotyping that wouldn't be inherently obvious unless you were looking for them, her being the strong one, and also the "mama" type at the same time. No one treated her with disrespect, and her lesbianism seemed to be more authentic but I feel like there wasn't a lot of thought put into what these tropes were and why they were bad. Her being black and making her the mama type, as well as the big strong type could be read as tasteless. Again, I really liked her character but these were some things I noticed while watching.

Twink- You know, I didn't really like him at first, I thought he was the epitome of all the bad stereotyping (though I'm just glad him and Mary didn't get put into the same category). His humor isn't my taste, and it just kinda seemed like someone for half of his lines went "what twitter stan language can we put in here?" And sometimes it was a bit too random for my tastes. However! I do like that his drag was considered important and was an integral part to a lot of missions they went on, and not just "Ah look at that dumb gay trying to find reasons to dress in drag." His talents and expertise were both respected and, save for Buck (which his whole point was supposed to be offensive anyway) no one undermined Twink for his femininity. His back story is also kinda random but did play a role in the missions as well. Still, personally think he's the worst character. Plus, he's French so minus four-twenties amount of points.

Stat-You know, in a show where everyone was stating what letter they were every few seconds I was surprised that I had to look up that Stat was trans. I...liked her character for the most part, except the part where she was fucking a robot. Kinda weird ngl, outta left field, and with her being trans I wonder if her having that sort of relationship is problematic for her. Love her design tho, love me a hacker girl. She's also listed as "ambiguously gay" tho showed to have mostly girl love interests but, okay.

Buck-He's the straight guy, emotionally repressed haha and he's bigoted. Did think it was funny later on when he was more "accepting" but managed to be even more infuriating about it. Tied with Twink as worse character but you know they tried to do stuff with him.

Vee-Really liked me a boss lady, but kinda weird how they bait-and-switched us with her actually being a lesbian, then go "no she's straight tho" in regards to Karen. I thought her and Mary's relationship was cute, wish I saw more of it. But she did feel like a random plot device in later seasons, what with her disappearing and reappearing when it was plot relevant. (Tho she HOTOHOTHOTHOT bikini episode WOOOWEEEE)

Okay, so now the plot....which. it had one?

It felt like it was flip flopping back n forth about whether it wanted to take itself seriously or not, and it seemed to decide on serious more towards the end, but then it would have this random plot element that would be so out of left field it would pull me out of my suspension of disbelief. See the whole "Back cracking to unlock memories" plot point. This back and forth on whether it would be a comedy or not I think weakened both categories it tried to play into.

If I had to compare the show to anything it would probably be Futurama, but the thing with Futurma is, its set in the future, so you're suspension of disbelief is allowed to stretch a bit more because all the wacky quirky stuff can be attributed to future shenanigans. Q-force, to my knowledge, is set in the modern day, which makes the wacky stuff that much wacker, because it's set in our modern times, which you apply the rules of everyday life to.

A lot of the problems that I had with Q-Force is, in the attempt to write specifically about the "gay experience" revealed that the writers have really only had a very specific experience of interacting with gay ppl, what I call the "Urban Gay" experience.

The fact they're in West Hollywood, and all the things that were listed as "universal gay experiences" but were only things that you'd be exposed to if you were in the city. I think a flavor of "white gay" can be implemented here too, which Q force has exactly one black woman, who manages to be the only lesbian.

That coupled with the fact that, there's a difference between having Twink naturally being a drag queen, the whole team being gay to some degree, and the fact they interact with the gay community often without Drawing Attention to all of those things and self-congratulating itself on concluding it. Funnily enough, Q-Force had examples of doing this right and doing this right. Right way: In the second or third episode where Mary found that guy with the flash drive to the uranium in it and seduced him in the gay bar. Relevant that it was gay without overtly drawing attention to it. Wrong-Way: Having Pride go on while Girl Boss was trying to take over the world.

And, for the show that promoted itself as representing the gay experience, there were...two gay men, one lesbian, one trans person, one straight guy and...no bisexual people. Also no nonbinary people. Like of course it's unrealistic to include every single identity but you're one bisexual person who appeared for one episode and was promptly blown up. And also showed to be...more off than the other characters, what with the stealing of silverware and all. Just, bisexual people are already forgotten enough as it is and not including them in the show, but you include two gay men just kinda reads as tasteless to me (as a bisexual person, obviously).

Which makes it so weird that Stat was left "ambiguously gay" when she could've easily been bisexual (which still would be problematic because of the robot-fucking but at least you got the B in there somewhere in the main group)

Overall, it tried to market itself as the "be all end all" of what it was like to be gay, but ended up excluding the exact people that get excluded in real-life lgbt spaces. This combined with the indecision with what kind of show it wanted to be managed to make it fall short. If you arent the very specific type of gay person who lives in a city environment and doesn't fit the stereotypes showed you're not going to feel "seen" by the show.

Weirdly though, I didn't hate watching it, and I would probably watch another season if they managed to make one. The parts that did work, I think worked really well, and even the bad parts just read as tasteless, and not actively terrible. If they focused less on making "hey I'm gay" jokes every three seconds and just let each character be what they are I think the show would be stronger for it. And I think they'd find less problems overall if they did that too. In the mean time I'll just be here side-eyeing the whole thing.

Edit: I forgot to mention, and this is a problem a lot of adult TV shows fall into, that because they got the clear to show nudity/sex they felt like they *had* to show nudity and to a lesser extent sex every episode. So just that whole "Haha adult=sex obviously."

Oh! And this generally goes for the whole "shove it in your face" part, but a lot of the characters who are bigoted were shown to be. Very blatantly so. And not to say there isn't blatantly bigoted ppl of course they are but I don't think that's where you see a lot of bigotry nowadays. This was sort of touched on during the show but more of a jokey manner, but I think it would've been more realistic if we had more "girl with a gay best friend" kinda bigotry as opposed to the "I'm literally hurling slurs at you" bigotry, especially since they're in Cali.

When Stories Changes Colors

Often authors start their stories based on certain themes & genres, then they later move away from some of them as the stories deepen & reach climax. So, once you reach the conclusion, the story has become something else entirely different from how it started.

That’s called story-telling. The longer you tell the story, the different it becomes. However, this change helps the story move away from the basic introduction of its characters, plot & world-building into the exploration of meaningful themes leading to the story’s vision. The overall vision is the reason why the story was essentially created. Doing that is not a necessity, but it sets complex stories apart from simple ones. It is very important that while you can change themes & even genres within your story, you need to effectively wrap things up in the conclusion. Not necessarily bringing back what you have long moved from, but holding the story together using the vision. This is the thing that can’t change. You started the story for a reason & this reason should conclude it. Themes & genres are tools you need to reach your destination.

For example: (with spoilers)

-Fruits Basket anime started as simple, basic, direct, short “lesson the day” episodes in season 1 & moved to exploring traumatic themes, character depth, ugly truths, & emotional turmoil in season 3. While Fruits Basket isnt the best example due to the anime’s favoring quick over-dramatic presentation of trauma over deep character depth & consistency of quality in season 3, the later still does the job of reaching the heart & conveying the message of “welcoming growth & accepting change”. Story-wise, there is no comparison between seasons 1 & 3. They look so different that it feels rewarding. Season 3 holds what fruits basket is in its core, a story abt accepting human weakness & moving on in life, leaving behind the small simple lessons of its early episodes.

-Attack on Titans is a an example succeeding brilliantly to change colors then failing miserably "tie” the colors in the final step. we can compare the first season to season 4 (firs part) & you’ll feel you’re watching/reading a different story! in a good way! the last good way. Now the final arc in the manga does a good job of ruining this as it attempts to return back to the beginning to story that has long moved from what it was initially. Calling back sth that has long been abandoned isn’t parallel, it’s contradiction & the plot will strat having holes bigger & bigger as the conclusion comes. AOT’s plot has become sth way bigger than a group of “ united avengers” can defeat to save the day & the story has become is too deep & complex to have one big giant baddie that must be defeated for peace. You can’t start simple, go complex as hell, then finish as simple as “snow white & the 7 dwarfs defeating the Evil Queen”. Isyama had the ending decided for so long as he claimed more than once, so what went wrong is the road reaching to it. If what we have in the final arc is the vision from the beginning, then the story should have been tailored to suit it. The story-telling reaching before the final arc is one of the most complicated, complex & deep plot exploration with various character depths (minus the protagonist or antagonist or whatever u wanna call him), but the final arc itself failed to contain all this with its basic one-sided battle & no color suited it, so it revered back to trying to parallel the beginning bringing back as much parallel as possible from every character & scene in its early stages.

-Game Of Thrones is an example of unnecessary intentional change of colors. Unlike the above examples, GOT started complex & complicated from the get go. You get introduced to tons characters thro their dialogue & interactions. The story’s themes & world-building involve magic, mystical world & politics. These three are the core of the story, moving away from them creates a story that is a kind to soap opera of repeated short dialogues & unnecessary drama. The show producers wanted to minimize the unique “magic “ aspect of the story to change its colors to appeal to the masses “like mothers & sport players” or sth. The problem is GOT’s color is what gained popularity & changed the masses view abt watching fantasy stories. For example, stories abt vampires & mermaid have their own audience & the majority of viewers won’t tune to watch them as they might deem them too “ fantasy”. But GOAT seasons 1 & 2 with the magic world gained immense flowing from viewers who normally skip such genres. These ppl have already accepted the “magic” of GOT as part of what the story is & were expecting to see a pay off in the final season. However the producers decisions to move away from “magic” meant killing off what was the build up from season 1. The White Walkers were destroyed with one stab thro a single character’s body. With one stab, you end what you sacrificed seasons, plots & characters to establish. The politics itself was simplified immensely as long built, established with foreshadowing political rivals simply “bent da knee due to love love”. Others wanted elephants & died under a brick. Villains who once were the core of the story with their complexity such as Tywin & little finger, or their madness such as Joffery & Ramsey were changed into whatever the show’s Euron Greyjoy was. a simple& basic villain with not much plot value.

So, good story-telling requires a well-established structure with thought off vision & an overall perspective of what the story needs to become from the beginning. Writing itself is a nonlinear process, so writers will either go above their own structure or under it, especially in stories that are published/aired while written. However, if the decisions is made to start publishing or airing before the whole process of writing is over, then there is bigger responsibility on the writing team to review each chapter/ episode while keeping in mind where it’s going & what’s expressing. Nothing is more disappointing than seeing a great written story loose its colors instead of just changing to new better colors or showcasing more hidden ones.
