— later on a date in destiny café he asked you what game made you fume like so. after a couple of minutes of embarrassed apologies and silent profanities at your apartments' thin walls, you told him about project sekai and its game mechanics.

— "tapping to the beat is very simple in concept, but it gets difficult?" you nod.

— "is it free to download?" you nod vigorously. caleb doesn't play it anymore and tara focuses on toya more than the actual game itself. you'd kill to have a buddy to discuss one of your favorite games, especially if xavier is that person in question.

— you two ended up skipping the claw machinery for plushies in favor of staying in the café and playing project sekai. you did slightly dread about how long you had to wait for him to catch up to you in terms of skill, rank and unlocked songs, however.

— "why is the speed so slow? oh, i can change it?"okay, maybe you don't have to wait as much.

— "i just have to skim through the archives to get the items needed to unlock songs, right?" huh, he's getting to know the ropes quickly.

— "i'll choose this one." he chooses expert and you almost laugh. while expert isn't difficult per se, it's nothing short of impossible to a rhythm game beginner, right?

— WRONG, WRONG, ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY WRONG.

— aside from the beginning where he hit a lot of greats and missed a couple of notes, he was improving by the second while playing the chart and ended with a combo in the hundreds.

— "this is pretty fun and helps with hand-eye coordination," he said as he full combo'ed the song on his second day of playing.

— "the game said i unlocked something called 'ranked matches'. what is that?" day three.

— "i've full combo'ed intense voice on expert, it was very fun." week one.

— god dammit, just why does he have to be good at everything besides cooking and staying awake ??? not even a month in and he got the 'mad skillz' achievement, something that took you over six months to get.

— it didn't help that his gacha luck was so good despite him being so disinterested in the cards too. you still haven't forgiven him for pulling the entire colorful festival banner within 30 pulls while you got nothing from over 200...

— it all started when you were too lazy to reach for your phone and took zayne's instead to search something up. you got distracted by the small amount of apps and tabs he had until you came across an icon that looked surprisingly familiar... a fourteen year old girl with brown hair and ears? arknights??

— you bolted to your phone to immediately send a picture of this monstrosity to caleb, but damn zayne's good vision and movements — you couldn't even touch your phone. never have you seen zayne so flustered; he must've known you were planning to frame him over an app with an underaged girl as its icon despite you knowing the contents of said game.

— you had to stifle your laughter while zayne was explaning why the game was on his phone as if he was presenting a medical thesis — that much detail should suffice.

— according to zayne, he's actually someone who played this game ever since its release. he liked the strategic aspect of it and it was a stress reliever of sorts.

— he also played it because the main plot device for arknights, originium, reminded him of you and protocores, but he won't ever admit to this.

— post-interrogation (?), you took a look at zayne's account; and for someone who claimed that it was just a casual stress reliever, the claim was absolutely ridiculous.

— level 120. all medals obtained. all stories, challenge modes and game modes cleared. all of the operators maxed out and mastered. the six star operators only had the necessary potentials and masteries too — was he a cardiac surgeon or an arknights dev??

— also, just what about arknights is relaxing?? it's notoriety for its difficult gameplay amongst gacha games was nothing to sneeze at, and zayne's a doctor in real life! why in the fucking hell would he want to take a break from his job by playing as a doctor?!

— you ended up surmising that normies couldn't possibly understand geniuses.

— seele's been gathering dust since, by the way.

— rages over chests. he couldn't find that one chest at cloudford and the divination commission and he was about to break his pc. this ain't even genshin with hundreds of chests per region. though, in his defense, cloudford was really annoying with all of the contraptions, and it was easy to get lost in the divination. no seriously fuck that shit

— don't get me fucking started with simulated universe. while he eventually learned how to manage through the stages, the process in getting there was quite painful for him to experience and for you to watch.

— one thing that didn't change, though, was his ridiculous luck in terms of artifact-pulling. crit rate, crit damage, energy regeneration, atk increase – you're convinced the game knows that rafayel's a huge spender and they're rewarding him for his services.

— well, he'll manage somehow, even with his all-dps team with zero sustain or support. heh.

Live Emotion Tap Spaces

A too long post on the Live Emotion preview clip only having two touch icons:

I've seen mixed reponses. Some people are happy to see a more accesible layout that is less likely to cause hand and wrist damage from long/frequent play sessions, and some are dissapointed and fearful that it might be too slow or too basic.

I'd take an educated guess that what we're seeing in this clip is an 'easy' difficulty, with higher levels hopefully having at least a faster speed. When comparing this clip to the easy difficulty of Shining Romance on SL, both are nearly identical with 11-12 taps within 8-9 seconds.

It's hard to say how I feel about it so far without seeing more footage. Personally, I think at least 4 would be ideal but I can't say until more footage is revealed. It's certainly possible there are more tap spaces in higher difficulties, or the higher speed and potentially more gesture options would make up for it.

Here are some other rhythm games with similar amounts of touch spaces. I've tried to link higher diffulty levels to show the potential:

Love Live All Stars - Very similar layout to Live Emotion with two tap icons, however there are also some notes that have to be swiped in the direction indicated which I think could be implemented in higher difficulties in LE. Also has a mode with less distracting bg visuals (that is customisable with unlockable backgrounds) which I am also currently hoping to be a toggle in LE.

Aikatsu - This I believe is a two player mode that is being played solo, but it does show another example of a 2 touch icon UI. I think it's also played with a controller, but its easy to imagine the arrows as directional sliding gestures as well. Aikatsu has a slightly younger demographic, so it makes sense if the beatmaps skew a bit simpler.

Idolish 7 and I-Chu - Both with four tap icons.

Then of course you have games like Bpro and SIF that have a similar high amount of tap icons to Shining Live. There are also some with similar functionality but different look, like Show By Rock, D4DJ, Project Sekai, and Hypmic.

And for more varied rhythm gameplay styles, but to highlight the potential of different gesture types, you have:

King of Prism - Tapping and making certain swipe gestures as they skate through hoops. This and some others linked also have segments where you trace shapes on the screen at certain parts of a song, or whena gauge fills up.

Te to Te Connect - Arcade game with beatmaps that encourage copying the movements on screen. These sort of swiping and tracing shape movements are especially interesting to me but I dont know if we'd see something like that in LE.

Muse Dash - A different style of rhythm game to what we've seen so far from LE, but there may be something in there to inspire you.

Fit Boxing - Again very different and doesnt really translate to touch screen, but while holding a joycon the player does different types of punches and movements corresponding to the icons.

Osu - A classic, with its icons taking up the screen in various patterns rather than staying in set positions, this is also something I dont expect to see in LE, but is a fun gameplay style. Osu also has a large spinning wheel that shows up occasionally for a short period of time, and has to be spun in circles very quickly.

All that to say, who knows what we're in for. I would prefer a few more touch icons, but even if harder difficulties still only have 2 I think its possible to get a fun and difficult game out of it if theyre fast enough, and have various tap gestures to keep it intersting and engaging (tap, hold, spin, multi-tap, swipe up/down/left/right etc).

Lets wait and see what the next game reveals showcase.

YIPPEE ok . funni rhythm game . project sekai. its got miku . the only important background lore here is: there's kind of another world called "sekai" that is made from either strong emotions, or the shared will/dreams/desire/etc of a group. there are 5 units/groups/whatever. 2 of the sekais in the game were made by One Person. one's the clown group dw abt that. but Mafuyu !! fuyu made her own sekai. i thiiiiiink out of her desire to "disappear"?

anyway. mafuyu asahina. silly lil girlie. she is so depressed man. her mother sucks and is constantly pushing her to be the perfect straight-A student and train to be a doctor, and in public fuyu DOES put up that facade (in-game she has two very distinct voices - a more upbeat, happy one, and this very quiet, almost mumbley-one. in lives she'll use her Public Voice when talking to anyone that isn't of her unit)

so ! fuyu. she wants to make music. and train to be a nurse not a doctor. but her mother is super manipulative and controlling (and thats a theme you see across her cards too. in her first event she's literally depicted as a marionette for example) and really has no real control of her life. and then she meets Niigo. because kanade savior complex go brr

so. nightcord at 25:00, or niigo as they're called in the jp fandom, is made up of Kanade Yoisaki, Mizuki Akiyama, Ena Shinonome, and Mafuyu Asahina. they originally only know each other online (kanade finds fuyu thru her music which kanade notes is very dark and depressing, and later resolves to create a piece of music that will make mafuyu smile and bring back some joy into her life. tbh idk abt the other two i uh. am bad at reading lmao) but !! they talk on Nightcord (its discord) until they all meet in the Sekai. which is fucken EMPTY. there is NOTHIN THERE. and its Mafuyu's Sekai. so given the Empty Void that has been remarked upon that it's very easy to get lost and never find your way out .......yeah

so . as the events progress you get to see mafuyu come out of her shell more as she hangs out with niigo. her mom is. Not Happy (when is she ever smh) and in one event her mom even throws out her music equipment and laptop (iirc) claiming that it's a "distraction", and tells her to stop hanging out w/ niigo bc they're "bad influences" (or smth). mafuyu, obv, does Nyat do this and continues talking to the others.

a few events later mafuyu finally reaches her breaking point and stands up to her mother . and then promptly flees to live with kanade after everything she had to deal with. so now kanade & mafuyu live together ! but mafuyu rlly is making progress like despite it all, in newer cards/depictions you can even see light in her eyes !!!

but yeah shes . shes my silly. and so like. Gender to me. her and mizuki (canon transfem/nb person btw. go mizuki go!!!!!!!!) got a duet version of the song "Villain" which is literally abt bein fucken. trans. u can't just put the Canon Transgirl in with the Transmasc Vibes Character in a Song About Being Trans, man /j

i lov her tho shes doin her best. she kind of lost all sense of identity due to having to be what her mother wanted her to be, and niigo is slowly helping her figure out who she is, not who her mother wants her to be. its very nice

compared to the other stories niigo's is. way more deep and intense. but ! they all have their Things :3

I don't really want to reblog your post saying this because I feel like that could be annoying but I've gotten a lot into gacha games (specifically Bang Dream, Project Sekai, D4DJ, Blue Archive, and now Zenless Zone Zero, in that order) as a 25 year old plural trans failgirl and despite enjoying them I know they are bad for me and it is my policy to not recommend them

and basically every time I find myself posting gushing over their stories or whatever I feel the need to asterisk myself with "this is a gacha game so I'm not really recommending you check it out". And like, I don't know, I feel like I should say it and it's necessary but it also feels a little tedious I guess. Like, everyone who I follow and who follows me knows this already so aah. But also then again I thought I already knew that the psychological manipulation and gambling was bad and etc and I still ended up getting super OCD over it and losing a lot of time and money to them and I would not wish this condition on anyone else. Which I guess is a more than good enough reason to continue the asterisking even if it's tedious in the same way it's tedious to say "content warning" or "spoilers for _____" or tag anything bothersome so people can filter it and sometimes you might forget to but you gotta do it anyway.

Anyway I uh. I do have like fifteen years of game playing experience prior to the gacha games where I played no gacha games. So if that counts for anything my favorite games of all time (and these are all non gacha singleplayer games) range from like,

Psychonauts (1 and 2), Milk Inside a Bag of Milk, Subahibi, killer7, Night in the Woods, VA-11 HALL-A, Tsui Yuri ~Okaa-san ni wa Naisho da yo~ (the incest yuri visual novel), Shadow the Hedgehog, if found..., Kindred Spirits on the Roof, Dishonored, Gunpoint, Jet Set Radio Future, and most importantly Senran Kagura (but not the gacha one), and many others but I'll just stop typing them now

Also I recently played the System Shock remake, which is kino and beautiful

Anyway I hope this confession is allowed. I really like your posts and your ask box has a very confessional vibe to me sometimes so I still feel compelled to it. Um, yeah. I guess, play those games. And not necessarily any gacha games. (Do that at your own risk, but also probably, really, seriously don't)

I've been trying to write a more formal essay on how gacha games can have good things in them but unfortunately still suck but ironically it hasn't yet come together because I've been distracted playing the gacha games. Hopefully I figure out that problem... Maybe with drugs or something (please)

Yeah, I don't think they are entirely bad (I still look at and reblog horny pictures from some of them often) but I wouldn't play one of those again even with full confidence that I won't fall into a gambling addiction because even putting morality and financial risk aside the very fact that they are trying to push players into it ends up worsening the rest of the game design.

Games these days (not even exclusively gacha) are sometimes deliberately made more tedious and inconvenient just for the sake of selling a solution to these invented problems. Paying to remove some arbitrary limitation or to skip a grind, for example.

The controversy around the new Star Wars Battlefront 2 contrasted with the original game highlights this very clearly. Things that used to just be a part of the game included by default are now things you have to either gamble for or play for an unreasonable amount of time to unlock. It really did not have to be that way, as demonstrated by the original game.

I think if you have been playing them and noticed all the issues it might be worth it to ask yourself if you're actually enjoying yourself on the net. Not just if the games have something in them that's worthwhile but if they are actually a fun way to pass your time. Is it play, or is it a chore you put up with to avoid falling behind or missing out on the things you do like? Would you be missing on much if you engaged with the story through youtube videos instead of playing the game yourself?

And if you do end up deciding you could be having more fun with something else, it's not like there's a shortage of other games, especially if you look into older games. Many of these are free or easy to emulate.

Looking at your list I think we have different tastes but if you enjoyed things like System Shock and Dishonored then you could maybe look into the first Deus Ex, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, or Arx Fatalis.

(Also this is a confessional now? I guess it gives people an excuse to picture me dressed up as one of those ero anime nuns even as I maximize blasphemy and apostasy.)

emu, nene and miku are all in slightly altered green workout project diva (?) outfits with different details and stuff i guess (but they all have to match cuz cohesive set thingy.)

so from the beginning of the song to around the end of the first chorus we're in the wondershow sekai, with rui sat at a table, refusing to eat his vegetable filled bentou. nuh-uh. no way in bahooey. and emu, miku and nene are just walking around him as. the po pi po cult, tryna get him to eat his food. oh also meiko rin len and luka have rui at tazer-point so if he ever tries to run off he'd probably go bbbrzrzZRRZRZRZBZRZBZRZBRZRZRZBZBRZRBZRBZRZZZZZZ (yes, in bold)

and then around after the first chorus, kaito leads tsukasa to the main area and he's like. what's going on. and then he sees the table, rui and the vegetable-filled bentou. ohhhhhhhhhhhh. but instead of joining the po pi po cult he goes sits at the table with rui and tries to coax him into actually eating his vegetables.

(for the whole thing the camera focuses on the po pi po cult, but from here rui and tsukasa argue in the back. like look. "but they taste disgusting!" "but they're good for you!" "have you even felt the texture of those disgusting things?" "just eat it TwT" "let's kiss" "sur... sTOP DISTRACTING ME")

and yeah after that exchange of dialogue we focus on more po pi po cult!! in the choruses there's going to be. flying vegetables and like vegetable juice carton box thingy cutouts cuz we have to push the theme or something

and po pi po cult is surrounding the oddballs (mainly 2) and yk. pushing him to eat the vegetables.

♡ - He asked what was up with your cat, and then when you looked at them and they were still running around, you explained that this was normal and that you just had to get used to it

♡ - He was coming over for the night because you two were scheduled to have a movie night ♡ - When he got to your room and opened the door, instead of being greeted by you he was greeted by your psycho cat basically bouncing off the walls ♡ - He had seen your cat a couple times but nothing like this, and when he had asked you about it you just explained that it happened a lot and that he would eventually get used to it ♡ - He stopped multiple times to question if your cat was okay when it just kept falling off the bed ♡ - At the end of the movie, it was a little hard to fall asleep with the cat, but as soon as it calmed down then he fell asleep<3

♡ - Rui had came over because there was a school project that you two were working on together ♡ - At first everything was okay until out of nowhere a cat burst into the room and jumped up onto the bed where you were sitting and then jumped right back off to the floor, Rui, who was sitting at your desk just looked over at you confused until you looked up from what you were working on ♡ - You explained that this normally happened and that your cat would be at it for a while before it stopped ♡ - He tries to remember that every time your cat comes into the room and starts booking it around the whole house ♡ - You can definitely see him looking at the cat weird whenever it comes into the room

✩ Tsukasa Tenma ✩

♡ - Tsukasa had a play that was coming up and he needed to practice, but there was also another part that needed to be played so he came over to your house so he could practice with you

♡ - When he came into your room, everything was normal your cat was on your bed, and you were sitting at your desk

♡ - All of a sudden your cat jumps up in the middle of Tsukasa's line, and starts running around the whole room, jumping up on the bed just to jump back off

♡ - He stops talking mid line just to look at your cat with the most confused face ever, because like wth your cat was just chillen and now it's going bat shit crazy

♡ - When you explain that this happens every once in a while he ligit told you to get your cat checked out (😭)

Watch as I project my lee mood onto Shiho. Will she get tickled? Well, you'll just have to read and find out (spoiler alert: she does). I hope Honami isn't too out of character but you know, it happens, especially given the HUGE writer's block I got hit with in the middle of this.

"Hey, Shiho?" Ichika called from across the room, guitar in hand and sheet music propped on the stand in front of her. "Are you busy? Could you please come help me with something? I'm a bit stuck on this part here." 

"Yeah, sure thing." Shiho responded, moving towards her girlfriend to look at the problem. "I'm not in the middle of anything really."

"Is the music alright, Ichi?" Saki piped up from her spot on the floor where she was previously diligently humming some new melody and writing it down as she went "I can simplify it if it's too hard!"

The four girlfriends were lounging around in Saki’s room for an odd sort of impromptu band practice/hang out session. Ichika was practicing her guitar, Saki was working on a new song, Honami doing homework at Saki’s desk, and Shiho was.. bouncing between several activities in an effort to keep herself busy and distracted. 

“No it’s not that, Saki. The music’s great,” Ichika responded. “I’m just having trouble switching between these two chords. It’s an issue with my playing, not the music. I’m hoping Shiho can help me find a way around it.” 

Shiho stood at Ichika’s side, looking over her shoulder for the problem. “Oh yeah. That’s a common mistake and an easy fix. If you adjust your hands like this-“ Shiho took Ichika’s hand in her own and individually placed her fingers on the right frets, causing Ichika to flush slightly at the unexpected contact, “And keep your second finger grounded here, it’s an easy switch to move your third and fourth fingers like this-“ Shiho, again moved Ichika’s fingers to the corresponding places. “That better?” She asked, retracting her hand. 

Ichika briefly played the measures with a smile on her face. “Yeah! That actually helps a lot. Thank you!”

Shiho flashed a small smile back “Anytime.” 

Shiho sighed and glanced around idly, looking for something else that needed done to take her mind off of the current…situation, before finally settling her eyes on her girlfriend on the floor. 

“Oh, Saki. Your pigtail seems a bit crooked.” Shiho sat next to the blonde girl. “May I fix it real quick?” 

“Aw, of course! I was in a bit of a hurry this morning so I may have been a little careless with my hair, hehe- is it that obvious?” Saki giggled.

“No, no it's not bad, just a bit out of line.” Shiho made quick work undoing the band holding the offending pigtail in place, running her hands through her girlfriend’s soft hair, readjusting, and putting the band back in. “There.” 

“Thanks, Shiho! That was really nice of you!” Saki leaned over to plant a soft kiss on Shiho’s cheek, holding onto the bassist's side to steady herself at the odd angle. 

Shiho tensed up at the touch, trying her hardest to hold back a giddy smile. Saki was just being so sweet and the slightly ticklish touch on her side was driving her crazy. “Yeah, yeah, no problem.” She looked to the side to hide her pink face and the beginnings of a grin.

Shiho was, as much as she tried to bury it down, in a certain kind of embarrassing mood. She wanted nothing more than for Saki to move from leaning on her side to squeezing it and scribbling all ov- No. She couldn't think like that. That would only make things worse. Because there is no way in the world she would ever actually ask, she wasn’t going to get what she wanted so there was no point in letting herself want it in the first place. 

She was pulled out of her thoughts by Saki’s voice right next to her. “Hey, Ichi, can you help me grab some snacks from the kitchen? I’m getting a bit hungry.” She quickly added, addressing the other two, “We’ll bring some for you girls too!”

“Yeah, of course. Let’s go.” Ichika carefully pulled her guitar over her head and placed it on its stand. Saki took her hand and half led, half dragged her out of the room in excitement, leaving Shiho and Honami to their own devices.

Only a minute of silence had passed when one of them spoke up. 

“Shiho? Is everything alright? You’ve been acting differently all day but I wanted to wait until we were alone to ask.” Honami seemed concerned and Shiho felt a rather unpleasant pang in her chest.

She had two options here. A: tell Honami what’s actually bothering her (absolutely not) or B: let her girlfriend continue worrying herself sick. She was at an unfortunate standstill with no viable way out. She could feel herself getting atypically nervous at the checkmate Honami didn’t even know she’d put her in.

Well option C was always there: Dodge the question. “I have?” She pretended to look confused as if to say No, Honami. I actually haven't noticed the fact that I’ve only been able to think about being tickled senseless all day.

Honami took a second to think about how to respond, trying to draw to mind specific examples. She was basing her concern more on a general difference in Shiho’s atmosphere rather than concrete observations. “Well you've been kind of tense and antsy-” she trailed off, continuing to collect her thoughts. “And you haven't been able to focus on anything beyond small tasks-” She got up from the desk and sat next to Shiho on the floor. She hovered her hand over Shiho's, a silent offer to which the latter accepted with a nod as Honami took her hand in her own.

How in the world was her girlfriend so perceptive? Shiho loved that about her. She always noticed and cared about everyone so much. Even while distracted with schoolwork, she could notice the little things about her. But in times like this, Shiho found herself slightly resenting this quality. She was nothing more than an open book for Honami to read at will. 

“And you've been touchy with all of us. That's not like you. You’d usually just explain where Ichika would need to put her hands, or just tell Saki that her hair needed to be fixed. It's almost as if you've been looking for excuses for contact with us.” 

Honami was way closer to the truth than she would ever know and Shiho couldn't decide whether or not that information made her want to bury her face in a pillow and never come out. 

“And you nearly jumped about a foot in the air when Saki touched your side like this” She mimicked the touch again, taking immediate notice of her girlfriend’s reaction: a loud, high pitched squeak. “Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

At this point, Shiho was embarrassed beyond words and could only muster a red faced shake of her head and a muttered “N-no.” to ease her girlfriend's worry. 

“If it doesn't hurt then wh-”

The touchiness, the tension, the lack of focus, and finally the flustered pile of girlfriend in front of her. It all made sense now. Honami smiled fondly. Shiho, always blunt and direct with her words and usually only begrudgingly putting up with the others’ physical affection, was all shy and blushy over wanting a few tickles. “Shiho?”

The girl in question looked Honami in the eyes and then quickly back at the floor, showing she was listening.

“Would you like me to tickle you?” Honami asked gently. 

Shiho, impossibly, blushed even darker at the caring tone and the fact that her ruse had been revealed. “I- uh- um-” 

Honami knew she had hit the nail right on the head at Shiho’s reaction to the question. As much as she liked to deny her sister's claims about it, Shiho really was adorable. Honami wasn't used to seeing her so nervous, however, and wanted to do something to help. “It's okay. You don't need to be so embarrassed. Take your time.” She squeezed the hand she was holding reassuringly.

Honami’s words were comforting but the fact that she cared that much about her made everything so much more flustering. Shiho, after a while of stammering, was finally able to force out a quiet, “Yes please.” 

“Well then, I’d be happy to.” Honami said with a smile. “Come here.” She said, motioning to her lap. 

Shiho climbed into her quickly, facing away from her girlfriend not only so she didn't have to look her in the eyes but also to hide her blushing face. 

Honami wrapped her arms around the bassist and leaned to whisper reassuringly in her ear “I'll be gentle, okay?” A redundant statement, Shiho barely had the time and clear head to think. Honami was always gentle. “I'm going to start with your sides.”

Shiho giggled in anticipation but quickly covered her mouth with her hand. Her giggles only grew more intense as she felt gentle, loving fingers dancing across her side and more still when she heard cooing next to her ear.

“Your giggles are so sweet, honey, it would be nice if you'd let me hear them better. They seem to be a bit muffled.” Homani teased, mixing small pokes and ticklish pinches in with her scribbles. 

Shiho only grew more giddy and shook her head at the words. 

“No? They’re not sweet?” Honami moved her ticklish attack to target the tummy of the girl in front of her. “I don’t think that’s correct.”

“Nohoho! Nahahat what I meant!” Shiho finally spoke as she squirmed backwards, braced her hands on the floor, and leaned her back to Honami’s front, putting her full weight onto her and losing herself in giggles. 

“Then what did you mean?” 

“I- heheh! I- um, I dohohon’t knowhow!” Shiho was having trouble thinking past the ticklish touch, the most obvious result of which seemed to be her difficulty holding a conversation. Honestly, she couldn’t recall what had even prompted the question in the first place. 

“You're so cute.” Honami whispered sweetly. She was well acquainted with the effect tickling had on Shiho, and was absolutely love-struck with it. “Your smile really suits you, you know.” 

Shiho hoped she didn't notice the squeal she made at the feeling of Honami’s warm breath over her ear. Her hopes were soon demolished as she heard a giggle from behind her.

“Wait. Do you have ticklish ears?” Honami allowed herself an experimental puff of air across the aforementioned spot. To her delight, she received a loud and uncontrolled squeak in return. “How did none of us notice?”

“Hehehe! Sahaki actually fohound out lihike a yehear ago- I thought shehe wohould have tohold you by nohohow.”

“Oh well, I guess there’s no beating our tickle monster of a girlfriend.” Honami smiled at the fond feeling in her chest that blossomed at both the thought of Saki and the adorable, smiling Shiho in her lap. “I hope I’m at least getting close though.” Shiho’s reactions made the fond feeling turn warm and loving. She was doing a good job and Shiho’s giggly babbling only reminded her of it. It made her feel content and confident. So confident in fact, Honami placed a playful nibble to the lobe of Shiho’s ear. 

If Shiho had thought the giggling was embarrassing, it had nothing on the squeal that could have shattered glass that left her lips at that moment. “EEEEE! Plehehase, Hohonami!” She shook her head back and forth, not truly trying to escape. 

“Please what, dear? I just want to make sure you’re comfortable.” Out of sight from her girlfriend, she gave a soft smile. “Please more tickles or please less tickles?” 

Shiho’s brain, fuzzy with tickles, didn’t even process the answer leaving her mouth. An answer that under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t be caught dead saying. Now though, weakened and carefree, pure unfiltered honesty flooded through her. “Plehease more tihickles!’ Her mind briskly caught up though and following it, a mortified expression took over her face. Her hands jumped back to her mouth to prevent it from betraying her inner desires once more. 

“Hehe- More tickles for you, then. You really love this, don't you?” Honami punctuated her sentence with another nibble to her girlfriend's ear.

She didn’t get a verbal response but the only slightly muffled squeals she heard in return were more than enough of an affirmative. She continued to give light nibbles back and forth between ears as she added small pokes and prods to her ribs.

Shiho jerked back and forth, trapped in her ticklish ecstasy. A poke to the left was met with a movement to the right, where another playful hand was waiting for her in a cycle completely out of her control. Honami was always so loving and delicate with her and she couldn't find it in her to even pretend to complain. She was right when she said that she loved it. She felt fingers poking between each and every one of her ribs, occasionally interrupted by quick scribble to the bones. Each poke, touch, and tickle made her feel all the more ticklish, all the more vulnerable, and most importantly, all the more happy and loved. Other than the tickles, the only thought in her head was how lucky she was to have her girlfriend. These situations tended to bring out the soft, silly side of her that only three special individuals got the honor of seeing so freely. 

Eventually, her face grew too hot and the laughter too much. She was about to tell Honami to stop when the nibbles turned to kisses and the pokes to firm rubs. She didn't get the opportunity to tell Honami that she was all done because she already knew without a single word spoken. Weak and tired, she couldn't help but lean into the comforting touch. Moments like these, Shiho being so relaxed and worn out, were rare. She didn’t usually let other people take care of her like this, and having the privilege of being not only able to see it, but also being the one to cause it, only made Honami fall a thousand times more in love with the silver haired girl curled up in her lap. 

“Hey Shiho, can you turn towards me please?” Honami asked quietly. “I want to rub your back if that's alright.” 

Shiho let out a happy hum and did as the drummer requested, wrapping her arms tightly around her for support as Honami began to firmly stroke her back up and down and rock the two of them back and forth. Shiho felt her eyelids grow heavy and was soon fast asleep in her girlfriend’s embrace. They could have stayed there forever, both feeling like the happiest girl in the world at that moment. She kissed her cheek and murmured a delicate “I love you” into her ear, and in Honami’s opinion, truer words had never been spoken. 

To Honami or Shiho, it could have been minutes, hours, or even days before Ichika and Saki re-entered the room, a bowl of popcorn, four water bottles, and a plate of freshly peeled orange slices in hand. 

“We’re baaack!” Saki called, but was quickly silenced by one look at Honami, finger pressed to her lips with an expression of pure enamorment adorning her features. The expression was quickly mirrored by the other two as they all took a moment to adore their sleeping girlfriend.

Saki set the food down on her nightstand and Ichika stepped forward to place a kiss on top of the bassist's head, “I thought we could hear laughter coming from up here. You two have fun?” She whispered, careful not to disturb Shiho’s rest. She already knew the answer of course but enjoyed seeing Honami’s nod of approval nonetheless.

Saki quickly sat down to join the cuddly pair, holding both of them from the side, and motioning Ichika to do the same on their opposite. 

Shiho wouldn’t wake up from her well deserved slumber for a while, but when she did, her girlfriends knew she’d be surrounded with nothing but the warm affection they were more than happy to give her.

How to Improve at Project Sekai

From someone with only 4 expert FCs left and 100 master FCs total.

Disclaimer: I am not an all-knowing deity of rhythm game skill. I am, in fact, just a Girl on the Internet.

I want to say before I get into any advice or suggestions that it's okay if you're not able to play hard, expert, or master. No one in their right mind is going to be upset at you for playing a lower difficulty - your score in this game depends FAR more on your cards than it does your skill.

Keeping a level head is one of the most crucial parts of being able to land that FC/AP, and worrying about how well you're doing or what the other players are thinking if you're in a multi-live will throw you off.

Anyway, on to my advice:

Play a lot, but don't play too much

You've heard "play a lot" before, you'll hear "play a lot" again. No other piece of advice is more important. However, knowing when to stop is just as important.

Becoming frustrated with yourself will make you play worse. Becoming exhausted will also make you play worse. Becoming burnt out on PJSK will kill your ability to play well. In these cases, it's better to stop playing and do something else for a while. How long that while is depends on you.

Try higher difficulties, even if you're missing a lot of notes/dying

The discrepancy between normal and hard, hard and expert, and expert and master, is pretty high. The best way to get used to it is to just jump right into it. There's a filter setting when choosing a song that organizes the song by difficulty, so use that to find the easiest songs and start there.

Increase your scroll speed + make sure your timing adjust is accurate

I've been sitting on a comfortable 10.9 scroll speed for basically my entire time playing this game. Don't set it to anything high immediately, because you will NOT adjust to that quickly. Instead, start from whatever scroll speed you're on now and increase it by .1 every day you play. I would suggest capping it below whatever amount starts becoming too much. (Don't go up to 12, for example, but 11 is probably also a bit much.)

A higher scroll speed allows for easier reading due to the increased amount of space between notes, but too much scroll speed means you won't be able to react. Finding that sweet spot is very important.

Turn off the MV

The MV will make it harder to see the notes, and the additional movement can distract you. It's better to play with it turned off.

Don't use cards with skills that change judgements

This is more of a personal preference, and certainly don't switch out cards that give you a higher event bonus just because they have this skill, but it helps to be able to see if and where you're messing up.

If you do use these cards, don't listen to people who tell you it's "cheating." It's not cheating if it's literally in the game. Speaking of not listening...

Watch someone FC/AP the chart

Specifically, when you encounter a pattern that you just cannot understand, it helps to see how someone else hits it. I struggled so much with dramaturgy master, watched someone else play it for the first time, then full combo'd the next attempt. It helps.

Ignore any and all advice at will, including mine

I'm not kidding, don't feel obligated to listen to anyone. The thoughts and opinions of any other players, regardless of skill level, should not be considered like its an absolute truth. You can go against everything I listed - keep your MV on, play at 5 scroll speed, use only cards that change judgements. Have your timing adjust at -10 for some reason. Literally go crazy and play as absurdly as you want. If you're not having fun with it, what's the point?
