I do apologise, I didn't quite understand your request at the start, and I don't know how to write arguing scenes,,

You and Spinel have been rivals since- well- forever.

Over time, as the two of you grew older, the rivalry only intensified, with him doing illegal activities just to get a step ahead of you.

Your Eevee evolved into an Espeon? Great, his Eevee evolved into an Umbreon.

You got a water type? He got a magneton.

Despite all this, you've managed to defeat him half of the time, even a bit more than that.

The last battle the two of you had was when you two were in your mid teens. You were going after champion rank and he was there- because- he's your rival!! That's what rivals do, get in your way.

Despite you mostly wining against him, he won the final battle before the two of you eventually lost contact.

Not too long after the two of you lost contact, you joined the RVT and he joined the Explorers.

The RVT was your second home, and later became your main home as you became second in command.

Being second in command, you had to make sure everyone was okay whilst Friede wasn't on board,

In all honesty, you forgot about Spinel, the two of you haven’t seen each other in a good few years now, and even though he was a strong rival, he slipped your mind, you had more important things to worry about like making sure Liko, Roy and Dot are okay.

Sometimes you swore the trio were a magnet for trouble, but it didn't matter, you still cared about them.

The day Liko went missing, you couldn’t help but blame yourself, you let Liko go alone, unsupervised.

You and the gang found Liko a day later in Levincia of all places which confused you to no ends, how was she there? Why was she there?

You had so many unanswered questions, but they didn't matter as she was safe.

But the one thing you immediately noticed was that her precious Pendant was stolen (alongside her memories that she got back later).

It wasn't until you were faced with an Umbreon that you suddenly remembered Spinel,

(No, getting jumped in an alley by a Magneton and a Beheeyem somehow didn't remind you of him),

"Go Umbreon. I do apologise that you have to fight some weak opponents,"

Memories flashed in your mind.

You knew that Umbreon.

It was the same Umbreon who stood proudly after Spinel had defeated you before you could fight the Elite 4.

"I'm especially sorry for sending you out to battle y/n, you know how weak they are,"

Spinel's voice rang in your ears as his Umbreon let out a low growl, remembering your Espeon from battle, resulting in your partner pokémon letting out a snarl of its own.

"Remember what happened at the league? You thought you were so prepared to face the Elite 4,? But you couldn't even beat your own rival?" Spinel taunted.

Oh how you wished you could wipe that stupid smirk off his face.

"I've grown. I've become a better trainer with my pokémon." Your protests fall short as Spinel laughs again. His disbelief annoying you to no ends.

"You're still using that weak little Espeon of yours, you know it doesn't stand a chance against my Umbreon."

The fur on your Espeon's back stood up. She never liked being compared to the Umbreon which by all means was understandable, with the dark type not being affected by her typing's moves.

"She isn't weak. She's won against your Umbreon!"

"Like what? Two times out of the many? Don't be so delusional."

You could feel Liko's worried gaze on you as you tried to think of something, anything to talk back.

"Umbreon, use dark pulse."

"Espeon, dodge!"

Another cackle came can be heard from the probably-still-teal haired man.

"If you're so strong. Why are you scared of a dark pulse,?"

Gritting your teeth you flex your fingers, glancing around to try and find a way to use your sorroundings to your advantage.

"Espeon! Use Dazzling Gleam!"

Without even a word spoken, the Umbreon effortlessly doged it.

Letting out a hiss, your Espon jumped back to your side, glaring at her foe.

"You're still the same inexperienced trainer,"

Okay, so there’s a loooot to talk about from ep45 but a detail i think i’m picking up on is a set up for our next year of horizons and the arcs for amethio and spinel

This is the first time we’ve seen Amethio team up with Rvt (potentially why they skipped over it back in that moltress encounter) and while he brushes it off, the intent of the writers is clearly to show he’s capable of working with them. This is definitely the first domino in his redemption arc, and i’m wondering if by the end of this year (two arcs if it follows the same pattern) we’ll see him fully join them especially considering his new mission is to monitor them instead of fight. We’ve now got so many more opportunities for casual interactions between amethio and the RVTs! Sango, Onyx and Agate seem to be infiltrating the academy (which i find hilarious because sango can easily pass as a child but onyx on the other hand…) so perhaps he’ll be nearby to survey as well? maybe he’ll finally catch a new pokemon (espurr pls) or we’ll just start to learn more about him this coming arc.

What interests me even further is how I think Amethio and Spinel’s development are being set up to mirror eachother. Amethio will betray explorers for redemption, but Spinel will betray them for his own selfish motivations. It won’t surprise me if by the end of this year (as in a year of episodes) they both leave the group. And while that means explorers would be down two major antags, i think that’s the perfect opportunity to have hamber and gibeon become more active to fill the hole their absences would leave.

Anyway, this episode was a 10/10, I’m so excited to see where things go this year! (Also I still refuse to believe Amethio is Gibeon’s son because that man does not get bitches. They’re related, but i don’t think it’ll be as direct as that)

Gem is Daroach’s ex-girlfriend/first love, and she was also good friends with Spinni and Storo. She viewed Doc as a father figure since he was always very kind and fatherly to her and her own father wasn’t a very good dad. Gem hasn’t seen any of the Squeaks since she and Daroach split up, but they may all be reuniting very soon… 👀

🗣️: If you could cast a voice actor to voice your OC who would you choose?

I would pick Sarah Stiles to voice her. I made a little OC voice headcanon video a while back where I used some clips of Sarah Stiles voicing Spinel from Steven Universe for Gem’s section, Gem’s homeworld is based off of New York City so I see her as having a little bit of a New York/Brooklyn accent like Spinel, and Gem performs as a singer when she’s not doing mob activities so I felt like it would make sense to pick a voice actress for her who’s also a singer.

⭐️: If your OC got their own spinoff game what would it be about and what would the gameplay be like?

Since Gem is a mobster, I could see it being a mafia-themed mystery visual novel type of thing.

It’s not exactly a shop, but Gem does own a restaurant/club that’s a front for her mob activities. She performs there as a singer and sells really delicious Italian food lmao

Gem lives on a planet called Muridia, which is the Squeaks’ homeworld in my AU. It’s based very heavily off of New York City. The name Muridia comes from Muridae/Murids, the family that mice and rats are members of. Since they’re all little mouse people I thought this would be a fitting name for their homeworld.

Cindee is Meta Knight and Dedede’s daughter, and Kirby views her sort of like his little sister. After they saw Taranza and Susie with Clover, Meta Knight and Dedede decided that they wanted to have a child together as well, so they visited the aliens that cloned Clover and asked them to clone a child for them, and that’s how they got Cindee.

🍱: If your OC had a dish themed around them at the Kirby Cafe, what would it be?

I could see it being some sort of chocolate dessert or a fancy little drink. The dessert or drink could also maybe have a moon motif since Cindee’s signature symbol is a crescent moon. For a drink, maybe it could be something like a blueberry soda or blue butterfly pea flower bubble tea and it could have a crescent moon or bat wings as a garnish.

🍎: What are some foods that your OC enjoys eating?

I could see her really enjoying chocolatey desserts/enjoying sweets in general like Meta Knight.

🗡️: What is your OC’s weapon of choice?

Meta Knight is training her to use a sword and Dedede is training her to use a hammer. I could see her using both in combat, maybe she’d have a sword in one hand and a hammer in the other when fighting and she’d find a way to combine attacks using both weapons.

🪄: Does your OC use magic? If they do, how did they gain their magical abilities?

I actually haven’t thought about whether or not she can use magic. I forget if Dedede and Meta Knight are able to use any magical attacks, I’ll have to look into that/remind myself of what they can do and then get back to you. It would make sense for Cindee to inherit a little bit of magic if her parents can use it.

For Trixie:

🤝: Does your OC have any important connections to any canon characters?

Trixie is Susie’s mother and is Max’s ex-wife. After Susie disappeared Trixie and Max eventually divorced since they were dealing with their grief in different ways/were arguing more and finding it hard to support each other in their grief, and they eventually cut contact with each other after the divorce. When Susie eventually returned and reunited with her dad, she got the impression that her mother had died while she was gone, so she isn’t aware that her mother is still alive and Trixie isn’t aware that Susie is still alive. Not yet, at least… 👀

🤫: Does your OC have any secrets?

I wouldn’t say that they’re secrets, but there are a few things that have happened to Trixie/things that have gone on in her life following Susie’s disappearance that Susie isn’t yet aware of. I’d elaborate on this, but if I do it’ll spoil some of what I have planned for my AU.

🥺: What is your OC’s biggest regret?

Trixie’s biggest regret is not going in to work with Max and Susie on the day that Susie disappeared. Normally they would all go as a family and Susie would do her own thing while her parents were working, but on the day Susie disappeared Trixie was feeling sick and decided to stay home so Max and Susie went by themselves. Trixie regrets not being able to spend those last few moments with her daughter before her disappearance, and she wonders if she could have done something to prevent it from happening if she had been there.

🎮: What Kirby game or what point in the Kirby series timeline would your OC first appear?

She first appears after Star Allies but before Kirby Fighters 2. I can’t really elaborate on how Susie and the other characters encounter her because it’s a bit of a spoiler for what I have planned, but Trixie and Susie reunite at this point in the timeline.

🏠: Where does your OC live?

Trixie lives on her and Susie’s homeworld, M’Jael. I’ll elaborate on this some more when I get to the Susie redemption arc comic that I’m planning to start posting next year, because I plan to show their homeworld in it, but M’Jael is a planet that I’m basing heavily off of the USA. Speaking as an American myself, I figured that it would make sense for Trixie, Max, and Susie to be from a world that’s essentially the USA lmao, it would explain the capitalism and the colonizing of other people’s planets. M’Jael has several colony planets that some members of Susie’s species live on, but Trixie, Max, and Susie are from M’Jael itself and not one of its colonies. The name M’Jael is an anagram of Majel. I named the planet after the actress Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, she played several important characters in Star Trek and voiced most of the ship computers in various Star Trek shows, so I thought it’d be a nice homage to name a planet of alien-robot people after an actress who’s played an alien and a robot lmao, I’m a big Star Trek fan and I see a lot of parallels between Star Trek and Kirby, so I like slipping little Star Trek references into my Kirby stuff. It’s pretty easy to reference Star Trek in anything having to do with Susie because of Star Trek being set in the future/having a lot of futuristic technology.

Ok, I'll bite. What is The Ore?

Hehehehe I'm so glad you asked (you totally will not regret asking me) (I'm an oh so very normal person) ! Warning for very long ramblings about some very weird shit under the cut. Mostly body horror.

The Ore is a Steven Universe AU in which Steven effectively has the gem version of DID. His gem removes itself from his body and splits off into four parts, which form Rose Quartz, Pink Diamond, Pink Steven, and that thing he turns into at the end of Future. Steven's human half is still alive but he did crash the van because of this. He is also very sick and ends up needing a bone marrow transplant from Greg.

Rose, PD, PS, and the creature are also a bit smaller than they were when the gem was still intact, putting PD at about the same height as Peridot and Rose taller than Pearl but shorter than Garnet. The creature is about the size of Pumpkin, and is basically just a really angry dog.

PS talks the other gem bits into traveling to Homeworld by claiming that the Homeworld gems attacked Earth, and Little Homeworld is actually a military base. He tells them that by bringing PD back they can end the war. They get there by stealing a spaceship from Little Homeworld (it was a group project/enrichment activity for some of the Peridots). Once they get to Homeworld, PS sets his plan into motion.

This war, and everything that has ever gone wrong in his life, only happened because of disagreements between gems. That wouldn't be an issue if all gems were one.

He has Rose present PD to the other diamonds while he sneaks off to Pink's room, where he uses forced fusion tech to fuse with all the gems he can find in the palace. This amounts to quite a lot of gems since they literally make up the walls in some places.

Once he's fused all the palace gems into The Ore, the diamonds are next. Blue knows something is terribly wrong and puts the pearls and Spinel on a ship to Earth to get help. White and Yellow go willingly, but blue has to be forced. Because of this she and the other unwilling participants don't join the hive mind, which is why PS tries to convince gems to join willingly so that he doesn't have to force them.

By the time all the gems on Homeworld have fused, The Ore is the same size as Earth. Its new mission is to travel to all colonized planets and absorb all the gems there. Peridot's satellites quickly pick up on the planet sized mass hurdling towards them at 1/4 light speed. She sends the CGs (and Connie) to check it out because her readings keep coming back inconsistent, and because Homeworld isn't responding to her messages for obvious reasons.

One of the two chapters I've written so far is Connie getting vored by the planet and sent to a horrible writhing flesh labyrinth.

Imagine: you've landed on a planet that's almost entirely pink. The clouds look suspiciously familiar and the air smells strongly of metal. The ground is ever so slightly bouncy, and smooth to the touch. You stroll up and down the pink hills and come across the mouth of a cave, as in a literal mouth with lips and teeth. You enter and are quickly swallowed, tumbling down the esophagus. The ground you land on is soft enough to break your fall, but something snaps beneath. You look around to see thousands upon thousands of limbs, eyes, mouths and other body parts lining the walls. Voices cry out for help. Tears drip from the ceiling onto your face. You now understand where the gems of Homeworld have gone.

The Ore is made up of three main layers: the willing participants/crust who make up a skin-like outer layer, the uncooperative ones or the mantle who form the system of horrible flesh tunnels, and the core which is basically the gems of all the unwilling parties. PS's gem is also in the center of the core because he KNOWS ppl are coming for his ass.

The mantle is the part I wanted to write about. I'm definitely in it for the body horror aspect. And because my brother already got on me about this, no, the CGs didn't know the planet was a gem fusion because it's not reasonable to expect characters to know what genre they're in. They think they're in sci-fi fantasy when they're really in sci-fi horror with fantasy and drama undertones.

There'll be some other plot stuff too like Pearl getting corrupted and turning into a bird, Jasper sacrificing herself so that the others can escape the flesh planet, Connie dying and being resurrected, Steven shattering his own gem which won't really affect him physically but is still super fucked up, etc etc.

Basically I want to write something that someone can reasonably say is the worst thing they've ever read. I want people to be so disturbed by my writing that I get messages from mental health crisis lines. I want people to think I'm deranged.

Pokemon Horizons Episode 43 Review - A Battle Over Sweets

When the Explorers start showing up, you know it’s going to be the end of an arc. With Horizons’s third chapter announced and with two of the Explorers showing up in this episode, it’s inevitable that a big battle will happen. I’m excited for the next two weeks. I also enjoyed this episode a lot too! It was surprisingly fun.

While Coral and Sidian (their dub names) were seen at the climax of the first arc, they weren’t as explored as much compared to Amethio, his crew, Hamber and Spinel. With this episode, their characters are fully revealed. Coral is childish, petty and has a lot of energy while Sidian is diligent, honorable and serious. They sort of mesh well together in a sense despite them not getting along. Coral’s personality reminds me a lot of the cartoonish villains that Team Rocket once were, but a bit more competent when it comes to villainy. She was waiting in line for limited edition sweets and when she lost the last one to a Cutiefly making a delivery, she takes it out on Liko and Roy who got the sweets from helping out the manager. The way she freaked out over Liko opening the box and then challenging them to a battle was hilarious. The battle wasn’t about Terapagos or Rayquaza at all; it was a grudge over food. I think Coral challenging them to a battle over food shows that not all members of the Explorers are super serious and some have cute personalities like how Onia had adored Sprigatito back in the early episodes of the show.

I actually liked the Multi Battle between Liko, Roy, Coral and Sidian. The kids were battling rather competently for once and Friede didn’t step in to save the day this time. The kids were legit trying to strategize and not spam the same moves over and over again. The difference between their early days and now feels like night and day. I’m impressed! While the battle had to be put on hold, it was still good progress from our duo. Sprigatito managed to activate Overgrow and Roy didn’t spam Ember and actually used Flamethrower! Given that he still has Flamethrower, this means that Fuecoco doesn’t have Tackle anymore.

I do wonder what the portion with Tinkatink was about. It felt a bit random, but it was still cute nonetheless. It was nice seeing the other Rising Volt Tacklers too! Mollie and Orla were running errands but also were enjoying their time in the seaside town they were in. Murdock was feeding the Pokemon. Ludlow was fishing and saying wise words. Friede was slacking off on errands in the beginning, but decided to scout the unusual white tower that the male Swimmer mentioned in the previous episode; I love the continuity!

I can’t wait to see more of the Explorers next episode. I’m personally a big fan of Spinel, as he is my favorite character in the anime, and I am excited to know that he’s going to show up next episode. Do you think the kids did well in their battle and do you want to see them battle like this again in the future?

Hey, everyone. I was made aware of the callout post made by @/antimennard on Instagram, and I wanted to share my side of the story, so everyone has all the facts and are well-informed.

Please do not harass anyone mentioned in this post.

I'll address things in order of occurence. I've gone back and looked at some dates to get the most accurate timeline possible.

The Steven x Spinel allegations are a very serious thing, I agree. This was late 2019, early 2020 - I was 15 or so at the time, and I was in a group that was kind of organized by a person named Nano. She was an adult, and the group was full of minors and adults. The adults of the group were actively sharing NSFW, and were encouraging and allowing minors to do the same. We all thought it was okay, because we were kids. We, collectively, were actively groomed into thinking it was okay.

I posted the things I created because I was never told not to (not by parents, friends, family, nobody), and I was too young to know any better or realize that it was wrong myself.

After a while, a few of the members started to realize how disgusting the situation was. Members of the group were now actively agreeing that what they were drawing was incest. Me and another person, who I will not name for privacy, left around the same time, I believe. If you look at Nano's account (which I believe is still under @/what_the_fudge_nano or something along those lines), she IS a proshipper, and proudly so. She didn't have a label put on herself when I was associated with her, and I only saw it recently, maybe a few weeks to a month ago, when I went back to make sure I'd blocked her. I have cut her and other adults from that server off completely, and the accounts that I posted Steven/Spinel stuff on, as far as I'm aware, are out of my access. I have deleted them.

I will be going back to my account and doing a delete spree, because now I realize there are most definitely things that remain on the account that shouldn't be public.

That was, I think, the end of my experience with the SU fandom as a whole, actually. I didn't stay in it for long, especially after the show ended. I am not proud of what I did in the slightest, and I think I just suppressed all of it in hopes that I'd forget about it. I genuinely don't know why I didn't go delete things. I knew I was uncomfortable with everything, so I'm honestly, genuinely confused with my past self for that. At a point, I suppose I figured that the posts were old and buried enough that they'd never see the light of day again, so I just didn't go back and delete them. I acknowledge now that this was not smart in the slightest, and so I have gone and done that.

Moving on... When I was 16 or so, in and around 2021, I got into FNaF again after being out of the fandom for a long time. At this point in time, I'm sure you know, Gacha FNaF content was making a surge in popularity, and that was my re-introduction into the fandom.

Mennard was something that was incredibly popular at the time in the Gacha FNaF community, and since that was my main input for FNaF content at the time, that's what I locked onto. I did draw it, and I did post it, and I am NOT proud of it now. I bring that phase up as a joke sometimes, because I figured it was just one of those "haha cringey phases", but I have been informed now that it makes others uncomfortable. I'm sorry for the damage I've caused through this. I will not bring it up anymore.

I understand and am fully aware that this is not an excuse, but I feel it is worth mentioning at this time that I am autistic. I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder when I was young, and I have been due for reassessment for years. My IEP states that I have a learning disability. I feel like I have mentally aged and matured slower than others. Again, I know this isn't an excuse, but rather maybe an explanation as to why my brain worked the way it did and still does. Still, I'm sorry.

Later on, as I matured some more, I began feeling weirded out by the concept of the ship, and the things I was making, and so I stopped. I moved onto other things. I do not ship or feel comfortable in the slightest with Mennard anymore.

Occasionally I will draw the two together as friends or found family; anyone that knows me knows I hate sad or bad endings, so I just put them in situations where everything is okay. However, I would like to make it clear that I do NOT see them in the way I used to.

The callout post mentions that I liked art recently that was posted by a Mennard shipper on Tumblr and Instagram. I'm going to be incredibly and totally honest with you; I did not realize. There was one that I liked on Instagram that had the mennard and michaelxennard tag, and I didn't even see that tag. I was simply scrolling through the Ennard tag at the time and liking things I thought were cool.

Regarding the posts that are still up, I have deleted a good few of them, but I will be going back and purging everything that I have not yet deleted. Finally, I would like to apologize for any stress or harm that I have caused to either involved fandom, or any people involved. I genuinely hope to move past this, as I believe I have genuinely improved myself and grown from this over the years.

I do not have a grudge or sense of anger against the creator of the callout post. I understand that you and others were uncomfortable, and I am sorry for making you all feel that way. Ep 14 sorta review (copied on twt and i post this here since im shadowbanned on there 😢) pls excuse the grammar and the length i have too much thoughts

Ok i finally watched it with subs!! Now I understand things better.

First things first we have new reaction image

Roy's part is straightforward, im glad he's so supportive and helpful to wattrell, and eventually captured it. murdock giving him a pokeball to catch it is so sweet, he knew it was coming!! Also him and liko going shopping and having ice cream together is cute, and him thanking her for letting Dot make sandwich is heartwarming :'). But never thought his comment about wanting a certain spice will backfire...

In last ep i thought spinel was ready to act when he came out in disguise, but no he was still trying to gauge the rvt's strength. I wonder if he's trying to lull friede into a false sense of security since the signal problem has been addressed (speaking of friede, rant incoming)

Friede oh my gosh. after watching the ep i can't blame friede 100% since liko went to town on her own without company, but it's still irresponsible for friede to not tell his team what happened.

He knew something was wrong but he chose to ignore it in favour of focusing on takeoff. If he'd told the team about it they'd be on high alert and less likely to do things on their own. It reflects badly on friede's leadership (and cpt. Pikachu as well?). Him not telling liko he's hired by her mom was funny before but it's harmful now. And given how he just met liko's parents.. this stings more 😬

That said it's also a risky gamble for spinel to attack friede because what if friede is responsible and told his team to be on alert instead, did he know friede won't tell? 🤣 and Liko really need to be more careful, i think she's been under protection so much she got careless. If there's a silver lining i think this incident could be a learning opportunity for rvt, they've been getting Ws so much they got overconfident.

Onto Spinel, DID HE REALLY NEED TO ASK THIS?? THE AUDACITY?;"?#!'

He just love mocking people isn't he? Even in disguise his personality shows through 🤣😭 alternatively he could be making sure liko actually lost her memories, but knowing how smug he is it's hard not to read it that way.

He succeeded getting the pendant but it's clear he didn't care about liko, going as far as wiping her memories (he's being safe but it's overkill imo) and leaving her in levincia.

Did he not know the pendant won't activate without her?

He saw what happened back in arboliva forest since he's been spying on them, but it seems it didn't register to him (possible spinel L?). I think now is a good time to confirm if that testament is true.

Also reminder, it was amethio who made this observation and decided to get her along with the pendant, at the expense of his time and gibeon's patience (lol). He made this conclusion right as it happened. So both spi and ame have seen the pendant react to liko, but only ame made the connection (possible amethio W?). This also highlights amethio and spinel's difference, ame is more observant and will deviate from orders if he deems necessary, meanwhile spinel is more focused and follows orders as is. I love this tbh it makes them more interesting.

Liko's memories got wiped right after the ep where she reminisces and being thankful about her adventures and new friends feels kinda cruel lol, poor girl... Not only liko, sprigatito also lost its memories, but seeing the preview, they somehow stayed together until night and then they saw the moon together. This is a callback to the scene where she trained with sprigatito back in ep 1! I think this is an important milestone 🥹💖 i hope they remember.

Overall, it's insane how the story goes from high (roy helping wattrel and catching it) to low (likos pendant got stolen). We (or at least me) were on a rollercoaster of emotions the entire ep, it's amazing. Story-wise I love that this anime is constantly challenging the status quo by having the pendant actually got stolen and liko got attacked. It keeps me on the edge of my seat bc i don't know what to expect, because anything can happen!!

Ok i think I've finished talking abt ep 14 dang that was long🤣 That said, in next ep preview...

Is this spinel? Is spinel still there ?? I thought he leave already??? He's risking his position if he stayed there for long, what's stopping him from leaving already? He didn't need to worry about them finding liko anyway since she's not important to him, he already got the pendant so why is he preventing them from finding her? But maybe it's not spinel but someone else. Maybe even pokemon, we can never trust previews 100% lol.

The ep title doesn't really give a hint since apparently it focuses on Dot and quaxley? Iono will also appear, but I can't tell what's the correlation between the two, other than they're both influencers. They're definitely going to find liko, so maybe dot will ask for iono's help? Her gym test does revolve around looking for people after all. But 'someone getting in the way' makes me feel nervous.

Miracleverse: Null’s Adventures: Chapter 2, part 2

Logan immediately got inside the bathroom, still trembling. He felt the urge to break something, but he kept holding himself back, to not cause a scene that could compromise his mission.

He went to one of the sinks and started splashing water on his face time and time again. It seemed like his rage only got worse.

“Mister Celsius, can you stop this tantrum?!” Axell asked on a reprimanding tone.

“I am not in the mood for a lecture, Axell” the brunette said, still in a trance. The kwami was not threatened, though.

“It’s a shame, because you are gonna get one if you keep acting like a child” the axolotl creature continued, keeping his stance.

The brunette boy sighed, knowing there was no way of winning against his kwami’s insistence. So, he just entered one stall to avoid the risk of being discovered by one of the students.

“What did I tell you?” Axell asked, as if he was a parent, ready to scold his child.

“To not judge this people by the mistakes they made in other worlds” Logan answered.

“And what did you do?” the kwami asked.

“I judged them by their mistakes on my dimension…” the brunette answered. He knew what would be said next, so, he put himself in the defensive.

“Is it my fault though? I doubt that if anyone else was in my place, they would have done anything differently!” Logan exclaimed, his eyes getting watery. The kwami was filled with empathy.

“Look… I went through hell and worse with those people for the last year. They humiliated me, attacked me, some even tried to kill me! More than once!” the brunette continued, starting to cry.

“Sorry if I can’t be a perfect Axolotl holder like your previous wielders… but, I can’t be here. I can’t be with those people anymore… I can’t… I can’t… I can’t” Logan spoke, hiding his face in his knees, as he tried to embrace himself to feel safe.

The amount of trauma this boy went through in the period of a year was too much for anyone to handle. Bullying in school, facing villains in his ‘free time’, and don’t forget, the old family drama, ever since he found out he had a father and who he was.

“Well… I suppose it’s better to just… transform and wait for them on the top of a building…” Axell said, understanding his holder’s pain…

“Thanks, Axell” the brunette said, while petting his kwami’s head in a way to show affection and gratitude.

“Colors shine” Logan said, activating his transformation. He was about to use his powers to run away discreetly, but, something stopped him.

And by something, I mean someone literally destroyed the bathroom’s door.

“Logan, where are you? It’s time for payback…” an eerie voice said from the outside of the stall.

This voice belonged to no one else then Monarch’s newest villain: Karma.

Karma was a boy that used a black suit, with some red glowing details. His hair looked just like in his regular form, but it was colored red. His eyes looked like the ones of a lizard. He had the symbol of the balance of justice on his chest.

(Imagine Ephemeral, but the balance replaces the ‘fast-forward’ option, the red replaces the purples, his hair is out, and he has a necklace).

He was holding a scythe (it looks like Spinel’s), and was walking into the direction of the stalls.

“It seems like I will have to force you out of hiding” he said angrily. With his scythe, he destroyed the three stalls… but, to his surprise, no one was there.

In anger, he burst out of the bathroom.

“Where did Logan Lazuli go?!” Karma screamed, frightening everyone who was around.

“Only a coward goes after someone who can’t defend himself” a voice said, coming from above.

Karma looked up, thinking that it was probably either Scarlet Beetle or Ikati Black. He was surprised to see it was none of them…

“Who… are… you?” Karma asked, not understanding this change in the formula.

The mysterious figure came down from the roof and faced the villain directly in the eyes.

“The name is Null… but, it’s not like you will need to remember it. I am only here to end this clownery” Null said, grabbing his keyblade.

Karma growled and jumped to attack this new opponent. Null smirked.

“Prisma Clones!” the axolotl said, activating one of his powers. He ended up covering himself in life and creating fake clones made of light. 6 were false and 1 was real.

Considering Karma was with a scythe, he used it to attack all 6 clones in front of him in a single swoop. All of them were fake, so disappeared.

When he turned around to attack the real Null, the axolotl was already there.

“Checkmate, sir” Null said, hitting him with keyblade, and sending him flying away. When the villain was out of view, he took the chance to grab the scythe in the ground.  

“Who could have guessed the moth could actually be used for evil?” he asked himself, remembering Miss Purple back on his Paris, and how she used her Charms to create Champions to fight the evil duo.

“But, in every dimension, their weakness is the same… breaking the object!” the axolotl said, breaking the scythe with his knee.

To his surprise, the scythe, instead of unleashing an akuma, dissipated into light.

“What?!” Null asked, worried about what that meant. A wicked laugh reached his ears.

“That was not the akuma, jerk” Karma said, returning to the roof. He looked a lot different than before. He was bigger, the reds were brighter, and now he had four arms.

“Karma isn’t like a menu where you get what you want… you get what you deserve!” the villain said, creating a bow out of nowhere with his powers.

“Hasta la vista!” Karma said, firing an energy arrow at the axolotl. The arrow exploded, and it was Null time to blast off.

Meanwhile, Max had hidden himself in the Library, so that he could talk with his kwami.

“Plagg, what in the name of Einstein is going on?! Who is that holder?” the genius asked, extremely confused.

“Since he is pretty colorful… I guess it’s the holder of one of the axolotls across the multiverse” Plagg said, clearly not impressed by the recent turn of events.

“What are you talking about?” Max asked.

“Ok, kid, basically, those multiverse theories you nerds talk about so much are true” the kwami answered.

“I knew it!” the genius exclaimed, beaming with the joy of one of his conspiracy theories being official.

“Yeah, and the axolotl miraculous has the power of travelling between worlds” Plagg spoke.

“Oh, my neutrons, I have so many questions…” Max said, excited about all the research he could do with this new piece of information.

“Kid, I would love to explain it all to you, but I think you should focus on the akumatized villain” Plagg said. The genius sighed in disappointment.

“You are right… Plagg, claws out!”

Kim, who was in the Gym, also had his own doubts about what was happening.

“So, is the emo guy good or bad?” the athlete said, referring to Null.

“Assuming from the energetic signature, I assume he is the holder of one of the axolotls miraculouses” Tikki answered.

Kim, however, seemed to be as confused as he was before.

“Well… there are multiple universes spread around the multiverse, and the axolotl miraculous has the power of allowing its holder to go from universe to universe.

The athlete was still confused though.

“So, let’s defeat the akuma and I will explain it to you carefully later, okay?” the kwami suggested.

Kim, who wasn’t really looking forward to one of these complex talks, eagerly accepted the suggestion.

“Tikki, spots on!”

So, yep. I decided to send all parts here, and, if none of them have problems, I will stich them all together into one.

I have been… adding and editing Astro’s backstory. I might be posting a family tree to explain the mess. Now his name back on his home dimension is Astro Celsius, but he is Sphinx in some dimensions. Long story...

And, depending on my choices, next part, is when SB and IK Astro appear. And either he will use a miraculous I created, or the Eagle… still deciding.

I have this old gemsona name Serendibite that I did I think between 2017 and 2018 and thought I should redo them. I didn't have a lot going on with who they were when I created them. But I did get the agender identity and them being the love interest of Moldavite, who I believe is the name of the Glass Ghost first seen in the comic miniseries Steven Universe and the Crystal Gems. I already got the design for her uncorrupted form and now gotta get some work done on her. Will probably post it today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow I think). And with Serendibite getting a nickname, I was like, "Why not?" at the time. And that nickname is Lau. Also, their personality is that despite looking monstrous in appearance and wanting to kill you, they are completely harmless. Lau actually has anxiety and is really shy around new people. But is pretty comfortable with gems that they can trust. They are also curious about new things that catches their attention and want to engage with that activity or whatever. And the reason for the appearance/design, remember that overcooked gems are gems that are in there for too long and are deformed? Well, I imagine this is what a type of undercooked gem will look like. A gem that popped out of their hole way too early after the injectors were put to the ground. Because of that, undercooked gems are indestructible when it comes to being poofed normally and are immune to being corrupted. The only way they can be poofed is if they have emotional distress (like Spinel's). And one more thing, undercooked gems don't have the ability to talk. But with Lau's powers, they are able to describe and say what they are trying to say or talk to about. The rest of their bio is in the character bio down below. Right, I'm trying to figure out the design for a normal Serendibite will look like. Just, give me some time ok?

Moldavite was able to calm Serendibite down and found out that Serendibite is an undercooked gem. Serendibite later finds out why Moldavite betrayed homeworld in the first place, which is her saving an innocent gem who was framed for treason and helped her escape. After learning about this, the two became best friends and then tried to join the crystal gems. Moldavite is immediately accepted, but Pearl and Garnet are suspicious of Serendibite. But Rose/Pink believes that Serendibite is just a scared gem who just wants to have a happy and normal life and allows them to join with them and Moldavite becomes partners. During the next few hundred years, the two fell in love with each other and started dating while Moldavite gave Serendibite the nickname Lau. During the end of the rebellion, Lau was the only gem to not become corrupted but witnessed Moldavite get corrupted. They were able to poof her and started to look for Rose and any other crystal gems with her gemstone in hand. Months later, they found Rose and she then tried to use her healing tears to heal Moldavite's corruption but as they all thought that it worked, Moldavite reverted to her corrupted form, but retained her sanity. Rose tells Moldavite to stay hidden and not touch anything until she can find anything that will fully cure her. Rose then tells Lau to get out of Earth and head to the Wanda Solar System in the Aaru Galaxy for their own safety and that there might be gems that will keep them safe until Rose can find a cure for Moldavite. Now Lau is wandering the 4th planet in the Wanda Solar System hoping to be reunited with Moldavite.

The next morning, Sarah's Fitbit is alarmed, the Alarm clock is ringing. Gromit and Gangs stopped alarm clocks. They are sleepless in tired.

Sarah: Worst better of the long night.

Sapphire: They had a hard to sleep.

Laura: Not good, worst night.

Sardonyx: Not better to sleep from hearing noise music.

Cera: I can hardly sleep from their activities.

After they are going bakes to delivery. They are back home after selling loaves of bread, and they are noticing Gromit and Arturo have their own belongs trash cans.

Sarah: ! Guys look at they have belonged in the trash?

Lewinn: !? They have belonged in the trash cans?!

Vicki: Not good.

Landon: ?

Arturo is surprised to not pleased.

Sapphire and Samantha are shocked that the two had thrown their belongings, they were not pleased and suspicious.

Bart: Not good, better to go.

Aaron: ???

Arthur is suspicious.

They going to indoors and they put their baker's hats and aprons in wall/door racks to hang Piella's and Spinel's.

Sarah: ?! Not good! Whoa!

They are surprised and stepped back accidentally getting onto some of Piella's and Spinel's high heels. And nearly hit a vase. Gromit caught a vase of roses. Arturo caught a vase of roses from fall.

Samantha is shocked and relaxed about the vase from the fall.

Wallace: (Offscreen) Oh, made some change, doesn’t it, fudge cake? Gromit’s gonna love this.

Lionel: (Offscreen): Guys, Sweetie, they’re loving this.

Bart: Something very strange is going on.

Matilda: What’s strange about that?

Josh: Not good...

Piella: (Offscreen) Well, I thought you could do with a woman’s touch around the house. You naughty slobbery guys.

Spinel: (Offscreen) They are bad, they are naughty.

They are not pleased unpleasant from Wallace and Lionel with Piella and Spinel has relationships. They went to Gromit's Room and Arturo's Room had redecorated.

Sarah: Not better! Not cool!

Sapphire: Not good, worst!

Ecole is angry, and Cera is not pleased.

Laura and Sardonyx were not pleased.

Very raged in displeased Gromit and Arturo gets roses thrown in the trash cans and are scared that heard the doors knocking and they get roses in vases back think Piella and Spinel. They opened their doors in shock that Fluffles and Judy were holding their belongings in boxes returned back to their own.

Judy: Artu, I got back to your own belongings. Fluffles and I got back here, Gromit's and your own belongs.

Arturo: Thanks, Judy (get his belongings).

Judy: Look at hands.

Arturo sees his hands touch Judy's hands. He gets love music disc.

Gromit and Arturo get their own boxes see accidentally touched Fluffles' hands and Judy's hands. Fluffles and Judy giggle.

Piella: (Offscreen) Fluffles, where are you?

Spinel: (Offscreen) Judy, where are you? Coming to get go home.

Vera: Thank you for returning Gromit’s things, Fluffles.

Lewis is confused that they go off.

The poodle went off with her owner to leave for the day. Judy went off with her friend to leave for the day.

what do you think of pink/rose?

This is always a good baited question to stir some shit and discourse, lol. Not that I think you are up to it, but anything online can breach containment whenever.

Pink grew up as the Gem version of the only child from a rich family: she had anything she wanted except attention and control of her own life. She thinks that be accepting some responsibilities (a colony) she could get an acknowledgement from her fellow Diamonds and some control over what she does and the order she issues, only to find out that no, she is shown her mistakes only, her good performance is expected, so it is not something to be praised. And then by accient she finds out she has some empathy.

The crucial thing about Pink-becoming-Rose is that she is actively learning to be nice and kind and caring and empathic and sympathetic, to do things for others rather than just for herself. And, this is crucial, she doesn't have any teacher other than what she copies off of the humans. She is pioneering this shit for the Gems. And like with everything you start learning, she fails and makes mistakes all the time. She panics, she acts rashly and without thinking things through. She tries to do better, she tries to know better, but frequently she fails.

She is so thrilled to meet Garnet (The first cross-gem Fusion besides Rainbow Quartz! Do you have any idea how validating that had to be for Rose?) that she doesn't consider realise that Garnet herself is mostly just confused. She doesn't realise that the Diamonds care about her, in a way, and even if they didn't, the shattering of Pink Diamond would still call from a retribution directly from the Diamond Authority, because such an attack is an attack on the Diamond authority, not just a single gem. She doesn't realise Spinel would wait the whole time and that she wouldn't like that.

Rose had the most empathy out of the Homeworld Gems who were made without it and trained not to have it by design. She still does not have much of it. She tries to do her best and she fails again and again. And she makes the realisation that unless she changes more drastically, practically stops being Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz, she can never have enough empathy, the thing so solely lacking in Homeworld, to fix things with it.

But wouldn't you know it, she is on a world that is full of creatures that are born with empathy, to whom empathy and reliance on each other's kindness is what carried them through the ages. So here Rose probably thinks that if she manages to make a being that is a Gem with these intrinsic human traits, that creature should be able to fix not only her mistakes, but the Homeworld as is. She can't sacrifice any other Gem for it, you can't just ask someone to sacrifice themselves for your aspiration.

Rose thinks she isn't going to miss Greg or Pearl or her friends, because she is going to be no longer there. But she forgets once again that they are going to miss her.

But the catch in the storytelling is that Pink/Rose's story is told backwards. You first learn of her from the most recent memories the Crystal Gems and Greg have of her, when she was her best self. And everything you learn afterwards is from before further and further back, her earlier stages, when she was less good or even a bad person, culminating ultimately in Spinel's reminiscence of her. Back in the day a good post which nicely summed it up and which I no longer can said it kinda like this: A rise to greatness viewed backwards is a fall from grace. This modern age has a bit of a problem with media literacy and a lot of people doesn't realise they re looking at it backwards, they don't realise that Pink/Rose grew as a person.

With that being said, a thing that Pink/Rose had not grown out of and what has wrought so many disasters on others: She never learned to accept and bear the consequences of her actions. The closest she got to it was to bubble them for "later".

TL;DR: Rose wasn't a good person, but was always trying to do better, which is admirable and everyone could learn a lesson from that: No batter how horrible you were yesterday, you have a whole day today to do a bit better, so you can try. Also try to think of the impact your actions are going to have on other people in the long term. That *clap clap* will be all.

Guess I'm Here Now

No, my card doesn't have my face on it. Professor Douglas has been on my ass about it for ages. I'll get around to it.

Topaz - My starter. She is loyal to a fault and a little too excited to defend me sometimes. I've had her since I was a kid, though I generally don't advise using your family pokepet as your starter. She's great though and took to battling easily.

Ruby - Ruby was one of the earliest pokemon I met on my journey, but one of the last that I caught. It took a long time for me to gain his trust, but he's always been a great companion, even when I was just following him around.

Ametrine - Ami is a complete diva! She wants attention, but on her terms. She also thinks she's a lot bigger than she actually is and likes to pick fights with bigger pokemon. I love her though.

Agate - One of my earlier catches, she was easily the hardest to raise. I definitely have a few scars from her Deino and Zweilous days. She and Ruby are the biggest reasons I got into Pokemon Behavioral studies. She's still got a lot of energy but is a lot more in control of her aggression now. By the way, you haven't LIVED until you've flown on a big Dragon-Type's back!

Spinel and Pegmatite

Spinel and Peggy probably look a little weird to some of you. They, along with a few other pokemon, were actually discovered in an area where a Space/Time Distortion was occurring in Old Sisyphus. It's been determined that the pokemon found in these distortion areas are ancient versions of their modern counterparts, particularly from the ancient Sinnoh, or Hisuian region. I and a few other researchers were given some of these pokemon in order to study them as well as see if they can be acclimated to our modern era. So far.... it's actually going pretty well.

Spinel - I was given Spinel, who was already a Zoroark at the time, because I'd already trained up Agate and Prof. Douglas figured I would be the best fit for a little ball of hate. I say little but when she isn't disguised she's probably the biggest Zoroark I've ever seen! It took a long time working with her, but she's a lot more chill now. Very mischievous of course, but she isn't seeking revenge on anything that slights her anymore. Her favorite disguise is a shorter version of me. Given she's actually taller than I am, I know she's mocking me, but she knows I can't stay mad at her. Fwiw, I think most trainers would be best raising a Hisuian Zorua if they want to go that route. A lot easier to train from a younger evolution.

Pegmatite - Peggy is the puppiest puppy to ever pup. He loves cuddles, scritches and fetch. I think the Hisuian forme might be even more high-energy than the growlithe we're familiar with today. A very good boy.

Opal - My lab assigned partner specifically trained and meant for safely and humanely catching pokemon for study. She takes her job very seriously, but when she's not on the job she likes to paint. I have easels set up for her and Zunyite for enrichment.

Zunyite - Zunyite is my support pokemon. I have ADHD and he's really good at helping me stay on task and remember to take my meds. Grafaiai aren't common as support pokemon but my little guy is fantastic. He likes to ride around on my shoulder or paint with Opal when he's not actively on the job. Sometimes he'll make me paint with him if I'm having a dissociative episode.

Oh no, you’re fine! Though it is a pretty anticlimactic story.

I was 9/10 years old and creating a Minecraft account. I wanted ot be named “Diamonds_123” but that username was already taken. And spelled wrong on my end. So I changed the numbers to 456. Meanwhile, my mom is standing over my shoulder and she ACTIVELY TELLS ME that I spelled it wrong. I look her in the eyes, say “yeah I know”, and hit continue like the stubborn child I was.

And that username worked.

And that’s been my name for everything ever since.

And no- I don’t regret spelling it wrong. XD

SU Music Rankings

Bc I can and I wanna start some Disk Horse rip. These are all in order of preference, with explanations, etc. It’s a long bitch. That said, I’m not counting little short jingles or small joke songs like Little Butler. This is the meat and potatoes of SU music- just under 30 songs. I might do the rest if people like my takes lol.

I scored it mostly on three bases- how dear it was to my heart, how much/often I relisten to it, and also what it means to the plot. That said, little fun songs don’t automatically go farther down than big, plot-heavy songs either! It’s a strange little balance.

Special Note: I don’t dislike any of this music! I love SU and that includes its bumps and glitches. I just pick favorite children lol.

1.) Change

Was there ever a more Steven moment than when he wiped the blood off his face and kissed it into sparkles? I think not. 

If “Be Wherever You Are” is an ode to young Steven, then this is teen Steven’s. Talking about change, and how much and how little it can do. How he holds his arms up for Spinel to hug him, so trusting. How he seems able to just. Break into soft tears at will, and not to be manipulative- it’s just his kind nature. The warmth in his voice. Fuck yesssss.

2.) Change Your Mind

This song is only fifty five seconds and it’s EVERYTHING to me. It really felt like someone was speaking the words I’d always held deep inside of me, unsure of how to say. It feels like a goodbye to someone who never really loved me. 

As much as I enjoyed Future, if this was the finale of SU, I would’ve been perfectly okay with that.

3.) Drift Away

This song gave me legitimate shivers the first time I heard it, and it still haunts me to this day. Spinel stayed, and waited, and all she got was a transmission thousands of years later. Fuck.

4.) Here We Are In The Future

THE MOVIE IS SU AS ITS BEST AND I WON’T BE SWAYED ON IT. Steven being a teen who loves his weird family but is growing just a bit sarcastic to their drama. The adorable love he and Connie share. His slow realization that he will always be working, always have things to do, is both somber and real. The Crystal Gems won’t be safe with one epic battle. They’ll be safe with years of hard work and love. HIS LITTLE HANDSHAKE WITH AMETHYST.

This is a helluva bop and a great way to summarize the main character’s backstories.

5.) Let’s Only Think About Love

Did ya’ll know that Zach Callison killed his throat with that last note? He gave his all for this performance in a vocal range he no longer comfortably do and by god did it SHINE. The FLAIR. The FORESHADOWING. All of the Gems all being awkward about Rose and Steven trying to bring them to the present. Peridot having a mini-existential crisis in a cute yellow dress. I love Zach Callison’s normal singing voice but man is that a fucking bop. Nothing will ever beat it.

6.) Here Comes A Thought

This bad boy helped me out a LOT with some mental issues I was dealing with in high school. I was unmedicated, unsupervised, and full of anxiety. I’d have break downs when I tried to speak about certain things. I couldn’t function. This song inspired me. It helped me feel okay with my intrusive thoughts.

And the episode! -chef’s kiss-. Once again bringing up the morally gray area of training child soldiers. Connie expanding her social group. Steven’s trauma hauling ass in that second half. The ANIMATION. Stevonnie’s gorgeous singing voice. GOD yes.

7.) It’s Over Isn’t It?

Just barely squeaking above Stronger Than You, this ballad is everything gorgeous. The whole episode is. I think Mr. Greg stands in the top five of my episodes for the entire show. It even got nominated!

There’s just so much about this song that I love. The gentle melancholy of Pearl’s voice. How the crew had to redo the shots for this bit bc Deedee went so fucking hard. The hard cuts between Pearl, remembering the love of her life, and Steven, who has begun to feel like he took her away. I’d recommend this song to anyone, regardless of what they do or don’t know about SU, simply bc it tugs so many heartstrings of love, loss, and responsibility.

8.) Stronger Than You

Did you realize this episode aired SEVEN years ago? This bitch was what got me into SU! Hearing about Ruby and Sapphire made my little gay heart so happy inside, and then getting a whole song confirming that they were a couple, that their love powered the strongest Gem on the team? Aaaaaaaaa

To this DAY I get excited when I hear Estelle start singing. This song is timeless. This song will live in media history. God I fucking love this song.

9.) Other Friends

I’m not the biggest musical person, so I hadn’t heard of Sarah Stiles before her casting as Spinel, but JESUS CHRIST the lady went hard. She went SO fucking hard. Sarah Stiles started on 100 and somehow just kept CLIMBING. You can just hear the sheer manic energy building in her voice, the anger and resentment. 10/10 Sarah Stiles is a queen.

10.) Independent Together

This made the list entirely bc the crew was like “you’re gonna get a himbo ass Steven-Greg fusion singing with Opal while Garnet flies across the moon on Lion while floating” and I am forever thankful to them for it

11.) Who We Are

Bismuth deserved more songs. ‘Nuff said.

12.) Peace and Love (On the Planet Earth)

It Could’ve been Great is EASILY one of my favorite s2 episodes. I love the entire concept of this song. Of Steven making music to reflect how much Earth means to him and his family. Of him teaching Peridot some self-care. Also Peridot’s singing voice is really cute and squeaky. 

I know it’s silly, but I would’ve really enjoyed a flip around of this in Future! Like Peridot reminding Steven how much he loves music, that he needs to take time to relax for himself, maybe with a new verse or just a remix of the original song!

13.) Something Entirely New

I watched this episode as it aired, and I legitimately almost cried. I love Charlyne Yi’s voice so much ya’ll- her raspy, not perfect singing voice against Sapphire’s deep soothing lull is great.

And to have Ruby and Sapphire’s meeting be the way it was- for Ruby to bemoan Sapphire losing Homeworld, to being stuck with a single Ruby, while Sapphire is a noble who has always been taught everyone in her “caste” is vitally important (and has, in her own mind, taken that to mean every Gem, as she should) and how they come together and make each other happy. Good shit good shit.

14.) I’m Just a Comet

The fact that Greg’s music career never really blasted off pisses me off to this day bc Tom Scharpling’s voice is fucking BUTTER. Also the song really feels like a jab at his parents now that we know the kind of dynamic he had growing up. “This life in the stars if all I’ve ever known” is definitely him wiping away their existence after reminding them (and himself) the things they used to say about him.

15.) Do It For Her

This episode. This fucking episode. This episode got me permanently hooked on SU. I’d just binged season 1 and was kinda meh about it overall after the bop of Stronger Than You. “Oh,” I thought to myself, foolishly, “I’ll probably just casually watch this from time to time.”

Like three days later Sworn to the Sword aired and that was it. I was hooked! Pearl’s gentle training song turning darker and darker, Connie’s accompaniment from nervous to determined to fully into such a toxic mindset. The fact that SU had the BALLS to discuss the repercussions of training child soldiers, now and later. This episode was everything to me, STILL is everything to me.

Six years and well over 100 fanfics written later, I think it’s safe to say this show swallowed me whole and never let go.

16.) System/Boot.pearl_final(3)

I debated putting this on the list because it’s not anything crazy important, just a way to show things are Wrong, but I had to do it entirely bc Pearl is so damn SALTY.

Like telling us about the Gems makes sense, she felt like she was given a duty, but she went so damn petty. WHY is that Ruby alone. Gross. This Amethyst is a trash dump. Wtf are you people.

17.) Full Disclosure

This episode really feels like a turning point for SU. Before, the show had its dark moments- but now we’re in the thick of it, and it’s not going away. Full Disclosure felt like an rebuff to the idea of returning to any normal we’d established in season 1. Gems are actually a giant species now. Gems tried to kill us now. There’s this Yellow Diamond bitch who got namedropped. Something about a Cluster. 

The song itself is BALLER, with its ingenious use of Steven’s ringtone and photos as he tries to decide whether to clue in Connie on all this nonsense. Meanwhile we, the audience, already know damn well Connie about to yeet some common sense into him.

18.) What’s the Use of Feeling Blue?

I’mma admit it- I’m a Yellow Diamond stan. I’ve always loved her- her anger, her poise, her hardworking nature. I actively argued against the “Yellow Shattered Pink” theories back in the day. But, man, when this arc leaked? I got so overexcited I was too jittery to watch it for like two days. It’s easily my favorite arc of the series. The sheer alien nature of the zoo, the Famethyst, and absolutely Patti Lupone’s beautiful ballad. Goddamn. Yellow singing to Blue to try and help her regain her old status, the warble in her voice as she reminds Blue she misses Pink too, the movement of the bubbles as she talks about attack. It gives me shivers to this day. FUCK.

19.) Tower of Mistakes

This is, fun fact, that only SU song I have completely memorized. The story itself is kinda funny! See, we lost internet at my house for a solid 5 to 6 months when these episodes aired, so I only got a very brief window to view them all. But this was the first Amethyst song in a long while, and I didn’t want to forget it! So I keep replaying it in my head for ages. And that’s still definitely a thing.

Anyway will never not be sad that this entire song was about making it up to Garnet for Amethyst’s perceived slights with Sugilite (which was a two-way road), only for Garnet to pressure her into fusion later when pissed and never discuss it again bc Garnet probably never thought twice about it and Amethyst has the emotional openness of a clam that’s just been told its ugly. Helluva way to make someone feel like shit, G. Helluva way to bottle that shit, Ames.

20.) On the Run

I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: Amethyst! Needed! More! Songs! 

The dichotomy between Steven’s play and Amethyst’s honest desire to run away from home is so well-done, especially when you consider a lot of Steven and Amethyst’s actions are playing together. The song is also near and dear to me simply bc it’s my favorite Amethyst episode to exist (well, maybe second to What’s Your Problem, but not by much). Moments like these are all the proof I need that they were right to fuse first.

21.) Be Wherever You Are

This tune really just feels like an ode to who Steven was as a kid. Trapped on an island with no way home, and he’s just happy to be with his friends. The stars are beautiful and not oppressive. Also that one animatic with Lars and the Off Colors playing in the Homeworld Kindergarten to this music was iconic and made this song get stuck in my head for a solid month.

22.) Familiar

I ADORE how the crew use bright neon colors to show how alien Homeworld can be. And Steven recognizing that the Diamonds treat him how the CGs used to, and how prepared he is to “fix” a broken family. It’s a soft, gentle tune about melancholy. Also the Pebbles are beautiful.

23.) Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart

Such a cute little love ballad, but every time I listen to it now I just imagine the heart attack Rose must’ve had at the line “And if we look out of place/Well, baby, that's okay/I'll drive us into outer space.” like there’s a Vietnam war flashback if I ever heard one

24.) What Can I Do?

I’m kind of neutral on this one? Rose and Greg both have great voices, but the song itself lacks many lyrics. I think it was definitely a good way to show Rose’s flaws in thinking.

Also, I’m shocked they managed cram that much vaguely sexual innuendo into two minutes, followed by how Not Hetereo that dance between Rose and Pearl was, and not get their asses chewed by it. You go guys.

25.) Cookie Cat

I love a lot of the vibes this song has. The lyrics are so damn prophetic, but they also sound like the kind of weird 90s commercials I grew up on. It’s been like two decades since I saw the Shirley Temple commercial but I’ll be damned if I don’t remember “Animals crackers in my soup! Monkey and rabbits loop-de-loop.”

26.) Giant Woman

I am. NOT the biggest fan of Steven’s original singing voice. I feel bad saying that, since it was just Zach Callison as a kid, but he never jived well with me for some reason. So I wouldn’t listen to this on the fly. 

The song itself is still really good though, with all sorts of fun animation of Amethyst and Pearl being bitchy to each other. It’s a bit sad in hindsight to see tiny Steven trying to get his moms to get along. Ahh, season 1.

27.) Strong in the Real Way

This song has SUCH a strong start. Pearl reflecting on Sugilite’s problems, but the show making sure to show us that Pearl’s lack of enthusiasm towards her also lends itself to jealousy as well as just general malaise. How much she cares about Steven, and wants him to grow up strong. 

And then Steven just kinda. Ruins it? I appreciate his enthusiasm for tryna bulk up but to take what was starting as such a rich, personal song and broadcasting it to random strangers just makes me a bit sad. Almost a bit angry on her behalf?

28.) That Distant Shore

I KNOW this is gonna create some discourse, but I’m just not the biggest Lapis stan. I love her voice. I love the visuals of the song. And I get why she felt afraid and needed to flee.

But Lapis never got to take responsibility for her own actions. And, in the end, the song feels hollow to me- because we all know she’ll never talk to anyone about it, know she’ll burst back in and destroy the barn, and no one will ever question it. I like Lapis a lot, but I feel like her arc never was fully finished. She never got help. She never learned to feel safe.

29.) Dear Old Dad

I’ve yet to meet a single human being who likes this episode tbh. There’s some great discussion about what kind of parent Greg is from it, and what kind of dynamic he has with the Gems that he felt he had to fake an injury to hang out with his son. Honestly the first half was fine and dandy. It’s just that then they Greg just went out of his way to drag Steven away from missions and such. It never jived well with his character before or after.

Also, is it just me, or does Zach himself sound like he hates the song as he sings it? There’s no passion or heart in his voice. It sounds like they told him to read off cue cards and he did. Tom Scharpling’s best attempts didn’t save this one for being a skipper. But the episode, unfortunately, isn’t, so it gets a spot on here.
