A/N: Thanks for the love! It's Robby's turn to be sad this time around! Need everyone to know you can purchase the Beers of the Burgh hoodie, btw. Invest in your mental health.
An incredibly long week of overnight shifts was only a couple hours from yielding to an entire week off when incoming announced four people being brought over in various states of respiratory and cardiac distress.
There was a nasty outbreak of RSV at an elderly care facility near the Pitt.
In the shuffle and chaos between the care facility, the ER and the paramedics, one of those people was intubated and placed on a respirator in spite of a standing DNR/DNI. It was an absolutely massive fuck-up. While his hands did not personally intubate Mr. Travers, it had happened on Dr. Robby’s watch. Dr. Abbot arrived to relieve him, but Robby stuck around because the Travers family was on their way over. While he was certain that admin would have to handle any legal questions the family might have, he wanted to be there to answer the medical ones and walk them through the process. It was the least he could do given the circumstances.
After asking to be paged when they arrived, Robby knew he needed to find somewhere to collect himself before meeting with them. It was getting harder to force thoughts around the shrill ringing that wobbled through his head with his heartbeat.
Making it to the stairwell door without anyone pulling him aside, even just the single barrier of a door between himself and the din of the Pitt was enough to allow his lungs to expand a little more than they had a minute before.
Not the worst day you’ve had, not the worst day you’ll have. Adamson had said that to him once, and it was the kind of optimistic cynicism that Robby appreciated. It didn’t help on the days that did redefine The Worst Day, but on your average Very Bad Day like today, the reminder did its job.
One more hurdle before he had a week away, the first day of which would probably be spent in hibernation before he packed up and headed for the woods. He never went too far, there was always the chance he would be needed in a staffing crisis, but the open night sky would help with the way his bones were vibrating when he would get home after work lately.
When the page for him came through, Robby pressed the base of his thumbs into his eyes hard until the flashes of light and color faded. He took one more steadying breath and pushed himself up off the stairs and back out the door into the Pitt.
A rush of anxious energy made Robby’s skin feel flushed. He took off his zip-up, leaving it at the charge desk as he headed across the floor. The family was waiting beside Mr. Travers, a couple with a half-awake toddler propped on the hip of the woman standing at the foot of the bed.
Withdrawal of care was among his least favorite tasks, and they hadn’t even wanted that care provided in the first place. The family was understandably upset. There was nothing that Robby could say to change what had been done, and the version of Gloria that lived in his head warned him about saying too much for legal reasons. All he could do was explain Mr. Travers' condition and what they could expect.
Later, Robby couldn’t remember going through the whole process of extubating the patient and explaining what would happen next to the family. It wasn’t unusual that people lashed out when experiencing loss - people had cried, yelled, taken swings at him. Those were easy things to let roll over him, especially when he could say he had done everything he could.
Mr. Travers’ son and his wife didn’t yell or attempt to physically harm him. They didn’t have to.
“He never wanted to end up like this,” the man said through misty eyes and a clenched jaw. “He saw my mom all…” he stopped and shook his head, inhaling sharply through his nose. “Like this. And there was a reason he signed the paperwork so you wouldn’t do this.”
“I know there are a lot of people who feel the way your father does. I am so very sorry his wishes were not conveyed and adhered to.” Robby said gently.
“I pray you never experience someone prioritizing their feelings over your dignity, Dr. Robinavitch,” his wife said, meeting his eyes with an ice cold expression.
Those words on a loop joined the chorus of high pitched buzzing in his head, and he felt a countdown starting. He needed to get out.
Robby held her gaze and nodded. “I’ll give you some privacy, Dr. Abbot is the attending doctor now if you need anything.” He lowered his head before turning away and sliding quickly out the door.
The stars aligned, and the hall was mercifully empty of people who might care that he had an utterly wild look in his eyes. He was off the hook, no one left to check in with. Most of his people were gone already and those currently working didn’t pay him much mind as he grabbed his backpack from his locker and practically jogged through the waiting room to the exit.
“Hey Reilly,” Abbot called loudly from the charge desk when he saw Rose leave the locker room an hour later with her bag over her shoulder. “Are you on your way out?” He lowered his voice when she changed course to come closer.
“We’re all on our way out, Abbot. But for now? Me? I’m just heading home.” Rose joked with an overly bright smile. The attending scrutinized her for a moment that made her bristle. “What? I’m having an okay week.” She said, dropping the smile and making a face at him. Earlier in the night shift, they needed hands and Rose had accompanied one of the incoming traumas up to surgery. She spent the last five hours in the OR and the adrenaline was wearing off. Abbot’s head whipped around at a crashing sound from the waiting room, and he kept his gaze on the door as people rushed to see what the ruckus was.
“Well, at least someone is,” he sighed and then pointed to the desk beside him without turning. Sitting there was a folded blue hoodie and a phone on top of it. “Robby left in a hurry and forgot his phone.”
It was obvious the oversight from his otherwise diligent counterpart bothered Dr. Abbot. “Did something happen?” She asked casually. As far as she’d seen, it wasn’t like Robby to leave in a hurry or to be forgetful.
“We resuscitated and intubated an old man who did not want either,” he told her quietly.
“Dr. Robby handled talking to the family and withdrawing care.”
“Ah. That’s… really awful,” Rose bit her cheek and frowned. Anyone who worked in an ER for any amount of time had pressure points; patients they re-lived every time a similar situation arose. How exposing for everyone to know this was one of Robby’s.
“Look, Robby lives a couple blocks away. Would you just drop his phone off and check he’s alright?” Abbot asked with a sigh, finally turning back to look at her. “He’s supposed to be off this week and going camping or something and he doesn’t need to come back here and get his phone.”
It was the last request she expected walking out of work. Rose realized she wasn’t answering him due to her initial short-circuit, so she cleared her throat and nodded quickly. “Of course, yeah. Just give me the address.” She met his gaze and wished she hadn’t, he was back to scrutinizing her again. “What? Something else?” Rose prompted him defensively. His look was almost too knowing for her comfort.
“We’ve got incoming - GSW to the right lower chest!” Dana called from across the charge desk.
“Nope, that will be all, Dr. Reilly,” Abbot said shortly, his attention stolen once again, but he offered a grateful smile as he scribbled an address on a pink post-it. “Thank you.” He added after a second.
“You got it,” Rose smiled back. “I’ll text you an update, but I’m sure he’s fine.” She said, pocketing Robby’s phone and picking up the sweatshirt. It was softer than the last time she’d thrown it on off the floor of her apartment.
The incoming had arrived though and Abbot was already moving, waving in agreement or dismissal Rose wasn’t sure.
A couple blocks turned out to be an overstatement. Dr. Michael Robinavitch practically lived in the hospital. Could he even listen to a whole song on this walk to work? No wonder he haunted the Pitt - if Rose could just stumble two lefts and a right down the street instead of having to operate a motor vehicle, she would live at work too. It wasn’t even worth getting in her car, she realized when she plugged it into her phone.
One short, frozen walk later and Rose was in front of a two-story, brick building. Glancing down at the post-it to squint at the terrible scrawl, Rose made out a small #2 at the end. She started up the stairs on the side of the building to the front door of the top unit, trying to make out what sound it was she was hearing so faintly. It was cacophonous but shallow, definitely coming from a tv or stereo. Then there was the crack of a bat and a man yelling sonorously about a home run. Was he watching baseball at a thousand decibels?
Before knocking, she took one more look around at the grey, frozen street. There was certainly no baseball being played today.
The crowd on the TV was almost drowning out the noise in his head, and Robby barely heard the knock the first time. The second, more insistent set of knocks made him sigh heavily and stand from where he was staring blankly at the TV. Couldn’t a man have a breakdown in peace?
Without glancing through the window to see who it was, Robby pulled the door open with an extremely testy, “yes?”
“What are you doing here?” left his lips on an exhale before he could stop himself, making Rose raise her eyebrows. She offered him the hoodie and then pulled his phone from her coat pocket.
“You left these behind when you bolted today.” He stood in the doorway and stared at her, but he didn’t take the phone right away.
Rose resisted the urge to peek around him, not wanting to admit that she’d spent a lot of time wondering what his space looked like.
Well, asking if he was okay was pointless.
“Are you watching baseball?” She asked instead, tilting her head to the side. Robby blinked at her, the question catching him off-guard.
“Thanks,” He mumbled, finally taking his phone from her and throwing the garment over his shoulder. “Yeah.”
“Terribly sorry to impose and ask, but I have to walk back to the hospital and I have to pee so bad. Can I come in?” Rose sighed, giving him a pleading look.
How was he supposed to say no to that? But how was he supposed to let her inside when he needed to go back to getting this anxiety attack over with?
“Robby?” Rose prodded gently. Worry crept in at the blank way he was looking through her.
His eyes closed for a long moment and when they opened again, he nodded, stepping aside to let her in.
Rose almost felt guilty for insisting. She did have to pee, but she also had never seen Robby this way. She didn’t want to intrude, she just didn't feel right leaving just yet. “Thank you, it’s frigid today.”
Leaving her to shut and lock the door behind herself, Robby went to turn the TV down a bit. Rose took off her wet shoes by the door and shrugged out of her coat. “Sorry, I didn’t hear you at first.” He said somewhat sheepishly, rubbing a hand over his neck and then pointing. “Bathroom is down that hall.”
Even though he was refusing to look at her, Rose waved off the apology with a soft smile. “It’s fine. You’re alright.” She said lightly as she passed him to go down the hall.
Robby needed something to do with his hands, so he went and tossed the hoodie into the washing machine. He had imagined her here in a lot of scenarios, but this was never one of them. It had been easier to keep the separate parts of their relationships boxed into two locations, the hospital and her apartment. Her apartment contained almost the entirety of their personal relationship. There was only that single slip-up at the hospital and the memory now gave him more anxiety than arousal. Another thing to feel a little bit guilty about.
His apartment was too close to work, this visit was too close to personal, and he couldn’t be professional right now.
In spite of how badly she wanted to peek in absolutely every cabinet and drawer in the bathroom, Rose behaved herself. There were free pieces of data about Robby visible on the counter, like the fact that he had multi-step skin care and three different colognes. If he were in a better place to receive criticism, she would have told him they don’t belong in the bathroom because of the temperature fluctuation from the shower. She washed her hands and forced herself not to think about his shower anymore. What exactly was her plan now?
When she emerged, Robby was standing in front of the couch, his arms crossed over his chest and his attention back on the TV. Rose came to stand beside him. It was an old baseball game in wobbly black and white footage that she squinted at for a second.
“Is this the Pirates beating the Yankees in 1960?” She asked, making the bold decision to sit down on his couch uninvited.
The way he turned and wordlessly demanded context for her familiarity made her chuckle. “My grandfather was a medic in Korea and then he was a custodian at Forbes Field. Sometimes when he’d bail hay, I’d sit beside him on the tractor and he would do the play by play for all the classics. Mazeroski’s winning home run was one of his favorites. It was always either baseball or battlefield surgery.” It was the most she ever talked about her family and Robby realized he’d learned more about her from the puking guy who picked her up then he’d bothered to ask really.
Rose didn’t seem to mind that he wasn’t putting together verbal responses, just continuing to look at her. In fact, she tapped the couch beside her and continued. “Did you know this game has remained the only World Series game with no strikeouts?”
The mental battle had been decided the moment Robby let her in the door. It felt so much easier to just give in and sit down onto the couch beside her rather than find the words to ask her to leave. “He’d talk to you about battlefield surgery?” He asked, finding his voice with his curiosity.
“Yeah, I would tell you it wasn’t graphic but there’s no real way to talk about it that isn’t.” Rose scrunched her nose with a shrug. “I was interested though. He was the first person to show me how to suture actually while sewing up his own cut from some fencing. The man was tough as nails.”
The past tense was not lost on Robby, but her tone was light. His couch was not her bench, but they’d switched roles nonetheless. It bothered him how well she cleared the static in his brain, but his internal volume started to creep back up as they watched an at-bat silently.
His right hand was clenching and unclenching slowly at his side, knuckles popping as he wiggled his fingers, the sparks of unease finding their way out of him. An undignified grunt left Robby as Rose’s hand found his and coaxed it flat with her fingertips before applying pressure to the bottom of his thumb, his arm relaxing in the process.
“Mickey Mantle said this was the only loss that ever made him cry.” Rose told him as the center-fielder was announced at bat. “Too bad it isn’t on camera.”
It surprised her that he didn’t pull away from her touch. It was going to hurt later, picking up the rest of herself that she had left on the doorstep of his apartment to do this. He probably would have been fine on his own, but she tried to convince herself she was helping.
Robby’s hand stayed relaxed at his side, so Rose reached up to brush her thumb along his jaw. He was tensing practically every muscle in his body whether he was aware of it or not. He swallowed hard and shut his eyes as her fingers found the base of his skull and she dragged her nails lightly over his scalp. He couldn’t stop himself from leaning the weight of his head back into her palm. Her touch was so deliberate and so familiar, and it was the most contact he’d had in months. Tears pooled in his closed eyes, making his jaw clench.
“Relax, it’s okay. You’re okay.” Her words were soft and sounded far away from him. One sob wrenched itself from his chest, followed by a second.
If he opened his eyes and looked over at her, Robby knew he wouldn’t be able to keep himself together.
“Michael,” Rose hummed softly and he finally caved, turning to let his face find the crook of her neck as he began to cry in earnest.
Her sweater felt smooth in his fists as he clung to her. She was so warm and soft, and for a moment he cried harder at the thought that he didn’t deserve this comfort from her.
Rose tried to keep her heart from beating out of her chest, but it was shattering and scattering on his laminate floor. “You’re okay,” she dropped one hand to his shoulder, her thumb sliding over the bare skin of his collarbone in slow circles, catching the thin gold chain and making him shiver. As he took a series of short gasping breaths, she brought her other hand up to apply gentle pressure to his neck.
She wasn't sure how long it took for his ragged breathing to slow to match hers. She leaned her head gently against his, a feather light kiss pressed to his temple. “You’re okay.”
There's a drive into deep left field, look out now! That ball is going… going… gone! The World Series is over! Mazeroski hits it over the left field fence for a home run, and the Pirates win it 10-9 and win the World Series!
“He pulls it off every single time, it’s amazing,” she was barely audible over the crowd noise, her breath light against his ear. The soft huff of a laugh leaving him made some of the pieces of her heart melt back together.
Robby lingered in the embrace, knowing as soon as he pulled away the boundaries would be redrawn. The tight, anxious feeling from before had relaxed into a quiet ache. He felt heavy.
It was Rose who took the initiative, her thumb skimming his neck up to his chin to encourage him to look at her. His eyes were still swimming as she offered him a small smile. “Better?” She asked quietly and he nodded. One more deep breath and he let her go, the chasm between them growing with each passing moment.
“I think I can get some sleep now.” His voice was rough, betraying every ounce of exhaustion. Rose took the hint gracefully, catching his hand to give it a squeeze before she stood.
“Good. I’m going to text Abbot that you’re okay so he doesn’t come over here himself after his shift,” she said softly as she grabbed her coat. “He gave me your address.” She added by way of explanation, shoving her feet back into her boots. There was a nervous prickling under her skin now; she didn’t want to leave.
“Thank you.” The appreciation was genuine and it was all the words he could summon, he couldn’t bring himself to list the reasons.
Rose was going to tell him that he could call anytime, but she knew he wouldn’t and offering would only make them more keenly aware that this was a one-off fluke, an aberration of circumstance.
“Say hi to Bigfoot,” was what she went with instead. “I’ll see you when you get back next week.”
The door closing echoed on a loop in his now quieter mind.
Rose: he’s okay just needs some time off
Abbot:  did u get lost

Five Hargreeves x Fem!Reader Synopsis: You and Five return after seven years away in a different timeline- but you don’t return alone Word Count: 1.8k Tags: Fluff, No Lila and Five, Pregnancy, Children, Season 4 fix it (kinda) Note: Got so much love on the last one I wrote this! Try to ignore spelling mistakes it's currently 3am.
Stuck with only your irritable CIA colleague Five Hargreeves was anything but a good time. You both got lost at the godforsaken subway station he mistakenly teleported you both to. Travelling for a year by his side certainly mellowed you out. His personality slowly making you feel comforted as you both explored multiple timelines together trying to find your way home.
Surprisingly, the idea he possessed powers was the easiest thing for you to come to terms with, probably due to your job at the CIA making it seem plausible to you that the government does hide a lot- they’re even hiding the whole science of separate timelines.  After around a year of trying and failing to find your way home, you and Five decided to ease off the vigorous schedule you unwittingly created, finding a timeline safe enough to stay in for a while allowing you both to rest and brainstorm ideas of how you could both find a way home to your families.
You both made a mistake. Falling to know how long a while would be you find yourselves still in the timeline you chose as your ‘temporary’ home six years later. Finding each other a lot less frustrating than at the start of this. You suppose that’s an understatement as you watched Five play with your child, a girl who possessed brown hair and green eyes not too dissimilar to her father’s. It almost wasn’t fair how much her features favoured his. But, seeing his beauty reflected upon her features could never be something you would complain about.
“Maybe if we get lucky the next one will resemble you more,” you remember his words from a few days earlier when you started to show a hand placed under your abdomen smiling as if this was the greatest gift he could ever receive. But you don’t think it would matter if this one ended up looking like their older sibling and their father. If anything you would prefer it- not that you would ever admit it.
Picking another fresh strawberry from the greenhouse of the abandoned home you now called your own. You placed it into the basket plans to make jam and jelly already filling your mind when you felt yourself begin to flush from the sweltering heat of the sun beating down upon the glass. Your skin heating up to a point of large discomfort, sweat beginning to gather at your temples. You sighed knowing that you couldn't continue to harvest anything else unless you wanted to face Five’s rath over you overheating again.
“Mom!” Maxine ran towards you eagerly hands encircling your legs as she got close enough for a welcoming hug. She quickly looked up towards you big green eyes staring at you prettily
“Hiya munchkin” You stroked the top of her hair as she smiled up at you with glee
“What doing?” the three-year-old questioned head titling as she waited for your response
“Strawberries” was all you replied grabbing the basket to show her
“Have one?” she asked pointing at the basket, batting her eyes to try to sway your decision. You simply plucked one out of the basket and gave it to her relishing in the delighted smile she sent your way before biting into the sweet fruit. You smiled at her before looking up to meet the other pair of green eyes that had made their way into the greenhouse. Five watched the interaction of his favourite girls softly only moving closer once you looked at him.
“Everything alright mumma?” he questioned noticing your flustered expression from the moment he and Maxine stepped foot in the conservatory
“A bit hot” you admitted with a shrug of your shoulders as he drew closer, trapping Maxine in between the two of you as the back of his hand touched your forehead he hummed in agreement with your words
“Let’s get you inside the house, don’t need you getting heatstroke” You forced down the urge to roll your eyes at his dramatics and simply nodded in agreement
“Some cold water and a sit down would be nice.”
He grabbed one of your hands and Maxine’s with the other leading you both back towards the house. After placing the basket of strawberries in the kitchen you quickly sat down on the couch feeling a slight ache in your feet while Five grabbed you a glass of water with more icecubes than you could even count, you smiled in thanks as he passed it to you while Maxine sat next to you, a small children book in hands that she was determined to read to you and her younger sibling as she wanted them to be just as smart as her.
You could hear Five pattering around the house, tidying up before you could even think about it. Maxine had quickly given up on trying to read, getting bored after two pages and was instead sitting playing with some wooden blocks by your feet. You furrowed your eyebrows when you couldn’t hear Five moving around anymore a stark silence surrounding you now.
“Everything alright?” you shouted trying to figure out where he had gotten to, heart fluttering when there was no reply. Setting your glass down on the table in front of you as you rose from your rather comfortable spot on the couch, you walked into the other room where your lover was his body was stick straight, eyes not daring to leave the notebook in his hand. “What?” you questioned softly walking towards him, eyeing the words on the book as you got close enough.
“This” he began astounded “Is our way home, it’s written by me but I didn’t write this. Another me did.” you simply nodded before smiling
“Looks like we’re going home.”
── ✧
You and Five found yourselves outside of what he assured you was his brother Diego’s house. Maxine who was resting her head on his shoulder, legs wrapped around his middle looked astounded by the snow while nerves filled you- the last time you saw any of his family was when you were put on the case that got you lost in the timelines to begin with and even then you barely saw his brothers and sister-in-law as they were quickly taken to hq for a show round to get them out of the way. You didn’t even want to think how you would explain this to them let alone to your own family but you guess this is the easier of the two as they all had powers and also been to multiple different timelines. Five set Maxine down next to you as he rapped on the door you quickly grabbed her hand before she could run off into the snow when the door opened
“You back!” the man, Diego you assumed, smiled as he looked at Five
“I am” he stared at his brother almost in shock that he had seen him for the first time for him in seven years
“Good” the man confirmed “We were all starting to get worried.” his eyes then turned towards you and the brunette-haired little girl who was trying to hide behind you “And you are?” he questioned and you quickly gave him your name his eyes sparking in recognition for some reason as he crouched to the ground to greet your daughter “And who is this little princess?” he asked quietly as Maxine started at him
“This is Maxine” is all you said feeling Five’s eyes on you knowing he wanted to wait until you got inside to drop the bomb you could see Diego begin to connect the dots as he introduced himself to you but he was clearly confused because he would know if Five had a child in the last three years in this timeline at least.
“I will explain everything once we get inside- can’t let the missus get cold” is all he said to Diego as the man allowed you into his home.
He quickly led you to the living room where to sat on the sofa, Maxine being picked up by Five and placed on his lap when she tried to climb onto yours, you turned towards him to complain but quickly stopped when you met his glower instead choosing to put a comforting hand on your tummy a habit you kept from your first pregnancy. Diego called for his wife Lila to come to sit with him when the door opened revealing more of Five’s family he whispered their names to you as they walked in all choosing to sit down when Diego told them that Five was going to explain where he’s been and why his colleague, a word you hadn’t been referred to as in a long time, was here. With most of his family here excluding Ben and Viktor, he cleared his throat to get their attention
“As you all know the marigold has made our powers a little different to what we are used to” They all made sounds of agreement “My blinking takes only to a tube station where each stop is a new timeline and we” gesturing to you “got stuck, unable to find our way back until now. We were away for seven years but for you has only been a few hours” he took their silence as a sign to continue “This is my wife” he spoke your name “And our daughter Maxine.” you sat in silence for a moment.
“Wait! This is the colleague he was always telling us about?” Luther asked excitedly you turned to the larger man confused when Klaus and Allison quickly agreed with him
“I thought he was joking when he said there was a cute girl who he worked cases with” Claire, Alison’s daughter, announced making her mother and uncles laugh
“I can’t believe you have a child” Lila spoke eyes wide
“Well he is going to have another one in a couple of months,” you told the already shocked woman who quickly smiled at the revelation while the others called out congratulations to their brother
“How far along are you?” Allison asked as she came up to you silently questioning if she could touch the small bump you simply nodded “We think around thirteen weeks” looking to Five who simply nodded
“She only started showing a few days ago”
“I can’t believe it” Luther called out while pulling funny faces making Maxine laugh as she got a little less shy around her family.
You smiled as you watched Maxine get up and walk towards Lilas’ children playing with them as Five’s hand found its way to yours stroking your knuckles. You never thought you could ever get home let alone come back home happier than you had left it. You suppose a thanks was due to your rather irritable husband and his wacky powers.

Note
May I request a five x reader where they are living domestically and just being happy and lovey dovey especially experiencing everything they did together while being in the apocalypse, the time commission, stoping the other apocalypses etc (five x Lila doesn’t exist five x Lila doesn’t exist five x Lilia doesn’t-)
a/n: this piece is basically a big fuck you to s4 so enjoy five being happy and domestic with reader and not his own brother’s wife. also five and reader are mentally older adults but physically in their twenties
warnings: language, fluff, mentions of pregnancy
summary: now that the timeline has been fixed and the world is no longer in danger, five can enjoy a peaceful life with you
Tumblr media
The sunlight that bleeds through the curtains is almost blinding as Five begins to stir himself awake. Stretching out his limbs until he hears a satisfying pop, he lets out a sigh and moves to reach out for someone that isn’t there. Your spot in bed is still warm which means you haven’t been gone for long, but Five still rises with a sense of urgency when greeted with your absence. Call it muscle memory from dealing with multiple kidnapping ploys against you or an old habit that just won’t die off after having to remain vigilant when protecting you from the enemy, but the poor boy’s heart always skips a beat when you go missing.
He finds you in the kitchen brewing a fresh pot of coffee, your back to him as you hum along to the radio that plays on the counter and search for Five’s favorite cup in the cabinet. He has to pause and take a breath to remind himself that you’re not in danger, your life of protecting timelines and ending apocalypses is over, and the fresh start you’ve made for yourselves isn’t in any jeopardy. You’re real, you’re alive, and you’re his.
“Morning,” Five softly calls with a careful smile as he rests a hand on the small of your back and presses a tender kiss to your lips.
“Good morning,” you great cheerfully before handing him his cup of coffee. “I didn’t hear you get up. Did I wake you?”
“Not at all,” he assures you before taking a hearty gulp of the hot liquid. After years of being together you know how to make Five’s coffee just the way he likes it and could probably do so in your sleep if asked. Your thoughtfulness is just one of the many traits of yours that have him wrapped around your finger always.
“We need to go grocery shopping,” you note dutifully as you peek your head into the fridge in search of breakfast. Frowning, you announce, “We’re out of eggs, so I guess it’s frozen waffles for breakfast.”
“Why don’t we go out for breakfast today?” Five suggests with an innocent shrug.
“Really? But you hate breakfast places. They can never make your coffee right.”
“I also hate seeing you eat frozen waffles three days in a row,” he reminds you with a wry chuckle. Maneuvering you out of the way, Five closes the fridge shut and gives you a gentle nudge in the direction of your shared bedroom. “Go on, get dressed. You can wear that new dress you bought the other day.”
“You’re right!” You exclaim with an excited gasp and rush off to your room before Five can change his mind. Not that he would, of course. Five would do anything to see you happy after all the shit he’s put you through in your time together. Sometimes he still wonders why you ever agreed to marry him, perhaps a slip of sanity or lack of care for your own wellbeing, but he wasn’t one to complain. He liked living the quiet life with you, and he wouldn’t change it for the world.
~~~
The night air is cool against your bare shoulders as you sit comfortably upon the porch swing and listen to the cicadas sing their evening song. The sun has long since set, but the string of lights that hang above you are enough to allow you to see the pages of your color by numbers book. Beside you, Five sits with a book in one hand while the other rests atop of your legs strewn across his lap. He enjoys sitting in the silence of your company as you remain glued together despite partaking in your own hobbies separately.
“We’ve been married for thirty years,” you state simply, breaking the silence but never once breaking your focus from your coloring book.
“Sure have,” is Five’s thoughtful reply. Setting his book aside, your husband gives your calf a gentle squeeze and turns to look at your concentrated features.
“Not including your siblings, it’s always been just us. Together in the apocalypse, partners under the Commission, husband and wife.”
“Is that a bad thing?” He asks, not quite sure what point you’re trying to make. Are you rethinking the marriage? Are you finally starting to have regrets about marrying him? He watches with bated breath as you set your materials to the side and finally meet his anxious gaze.
“I want to start a family of our own,” you finally confess, nervously fidgeting with your wedding ring as you await his response with hopeful eyes. “I don’t want it to be just us anymore.”
Sighing, Five leans his head back and shuts his eyes as he processes your request. He can’t say he’s surprised by your question; he’s noticed the way you eye babies in public, how you linger just a little too long to admire the window display of the infant clothing store at the mall, how you’ll hold the twins for hours in your arms and refuse to give them back until Diego has to physically pry them from your grasp. It’s only natural for you to feel this way, but that’s not the problem. The problem is Five isn’t exactly sure how he feels about becoming a father.
“I don’t know,” he admits carefully, taking great caution when choosing his next words so as to not upset you. “Having a kid, becoming parents… it changes everything.”
“I know we couldn’t before because there was the Commission and then the multiple apocalypses, and that’s why I never asked. But Five,” you urge gently, shifting to sit yourself up on your knees so you can reach over and take both of his hands in your own, “all of that is done with. We fixed the timeline, and all that end of the world nonsense is over with for good. No one is coming after us anymore or trying to kill me to get to you. We can properly grow old now and have a simple life together, wasn’t that always the goal?”
The boy is silent as he mulls over your speech. You’re completely right; saving the world and resetting the timeline to its proper place in order to ensure you and his siblings could have the lives you deserved was always the end goal. But after spending his entire existence trying to complete that task, he finds it hard to adjust to his new life of normalcy. Perhaps he’s not exactly scared of becoming a parent, but scared of what a baby would mean in the grand scheme of things. It would be proof that his work is truly over now, that he can turn his survival mode off after having it set to fight for so many years, and that’s a big adjustment for someone like him.
But when he looks at your hopeful gaze and sees the way you anxiously worry your lip between your teeth, he realizes that he’ll do anything to give you the happy life you deserve. He brings one of your hands to his lips and holds it tight as he murmurs his answer into the skin of your palm.
“If you think we’re ready, then I’m in.”
“You mean it?” You gasp while doing your best to withhold your excitement. Your eyes are wide and full of hope as Five lets out a soft chuckle before giving you a reassuring kiss.
“We survived the end of the world several times, how scary could raising a baby really be?”
He isn’t given an answer to his hypothetical question as you fling yourself into his arms and assault his face with multiple kisses along his skin. It’s safe to say his answer has eased your anxieties, and the boy can only laugh as you express your gratitude.
“I’m so happy you agree!” You exclaim giddily, your hands coming to rest upon his chest to ground yourself as you then suggest to Five’s surprise, “Let’s start trying tonight!”
“What?”
~~~
“That has to be the tiniest Hargreeves I’ve ever seen,” Klaus gushes adoringly as he takes in the details of the ultrasound photo in front of him. “Look at the little peanut, isn’t it precious?”
“I can’t believe Five is actually going to be a dad,” Allison notes in astonishment as the three of you turn your gaze to see him arguing with Diego over the proper way to baby proof your home while Ben eggs them on and ruins Luther’s efforts at trying to keep the peace. You’re only two months along, but Five is anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for your child’s arrival.
“You know, you might just be the first 65 year-old woman to give birth,” Klaus points out cheekily. “You should be in a world records book or something.”
“Very funny,” you retort sarcastically before taking back the ultrasound photo to hang up on the fridge. You falter for a moment when your eyes remain stuck to photo and your brain works on overdrive to commit the image to memory as best as you can.
“Everything okay?” Viktor asks after noticing the sudden change in demeanor.
“I just can’t believe this is real,” you murmur quietly, blinking back tears that threaten to spill. “After everything we’ve been through and everything we’ve lost, I guess a part of me worries that one day I’ll wake up and this will all have been a dream.”
“I know how that feels,” Allison assures you with a comforting squeeze to your shoulder. “But I promise you this isn’t a dream, and whatever you need we’ll be there.”
“Because you’re family now,” Viktor adds on with a confident nod. “And we look out for family no matter what.”
“Even though at one point in our lives we’ve all thought about killing each other,” Klaus notes humorously before giving you a tight squeeze.
“Everything okay over here?” Five asks, appearing at your side and placing a comforting hand on your back as you all turn your gazes towards the fridge and admire the newest addition to the family.
“Everything is perfect.”

Summary: You saw Five and Lila cheating and end up in a random train station. As a Diner caught your eye you couldn't believe what or rather who was waiting for you inside. Summary: You saw Five and Lila cheating and end up in a random train station. As a Diner caught your eye you couldn't believe what or rather who was waiting for you inside.
Here a sexy poster from Five I fell in love with! With every purchase you automatically support me :) https://amzn.to/3yGK6Fm
"You have no idea what most of the Fives in here would do for you"
I stumble out of the train, almost tripping over the edge. This can't be, he would never. I hate him, I never thought that I could do this but I do. My heart was shattered, it felt like it was being torn out of my torso and ripped in thousand parts. How could he do this to me? How could he do this to Diego? I have no idea where I am, or rather when I am. But I didn't care I just walked along the train station. My heels clicked with every step they took. The sound echoed with every thud on the white tiles.
I caught them. Five was missing and in my head there where millions of horrible ideas what could be happened to him. I can't believe I worried. We gone through so much shit and he shattered everything just like it was nothing. I traveled so far with these damn trains, no idea how I could possible come home again, just to caught them kissing each other. These assholes! Slowly the sadness turned into anger and every step I take gets louder.
In the distance I see red light reflecting on the floor. I swear to god if this is a trainstation-stripclub I trow myself on the rails. Seeing so much today what I couldn't believe makes me getting the wildest ideas, expecting anything but normal. I step closer and what I see is a Diner. Without hesitation I enter. I would kill for a chocolate croissant and a nice cup of coffee right now. But as soon as I entered everything went silent. Even a fly could be heard.
As shocked as they were as shocked I was. "This can't be", I mumble to myself. Every pair of eyes, which stared me down, were his. The Five which was now coming out of the back, let his tablet fall onto the ground. The sudden loud noise made the other ones fall out of their trance. "Y/n?", a few said, but others were just looking. "She's mine!", one of the Five's screams. Others were already talking him down. Another was punching a different Five and two got them apart. Without hesitation one five stood up and walked towards me. "I am sorry it's been a long time since they seen you", he says confusing me even more. "i...I what the hell is going on?", I ask, not believing what I saw standing infont of me.
"You just kissed Lila and now you are talking with me as nothing has happened? And what is this here? A stupid joke?", I ask him outraged. "Oh no darling I am not the five you know. I am coming out of a different timeline, but wouldn't you like to sit as I explain?", he asks politely. Like it was the most normal thing I go to sit with him at one of the diner tables, ignoring the fact that at least twenty versions of my boyfriend were looking down at me. As we sit down the Five on the counter rushed to our table.
"The black coffee, cappuccino and the chocolate croissant will be on your table soon", he stumbles, while looking at me. "How...?", I begin to ask but he was faster gone than I could blink. I feel more comfortable now as I saw how the attention was no longer drawn to me. "Explain, now", I demand as I was staring the Five before me down. "Feisty, as I remembered you", he says. I can't help myself but smile a little bit. "Why are there so many of you? And why was the one so obsessed", I ask. He crocked his neck. "We are all different Fives, out of different timelines. Most of them lost their Y/n, that's why things got out of hand", he explained. "So your five cheated on you? That's new, none of us did that, guess a new timeline has formed. Why would he do that...?", he asks himself.
I was shocked, overdosed with unimaginable information. "So what happened to your Y/n?", I ask him, just releasing I went to far. "She died in a fight, Hazel shot her", he says. "Five over there, who said you were his. She killed herself", he explains some more. I can't believe what he was just saying. "I would never do such a thing", I say. "No. Yourself in this timeline wouldn't but the on in his did. It's the same with us, we are all the same but different at the same time. I would never cheat on you and that's the point", he looks down on the floor. "I will find him don‘t worry, he will pay for what he did", he says while my eyes get big. "No... no he's still my Five I...", I try to bring the words out of me.
"Darling...", he leans over the table looking me staring into the eyes. "You have no idea what most of the Fives in here would do for you. Every single one of us is better as this little small cocked asshole", he says. I get nervous and have trouble looking him into the eyes. "He doesn't have a small...", I try to say. "I know I know...", he interrupts me.

Dating Headcanons F.H
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What it’s Like to Date Five Hargreeves
Pairings — Five Hargreeves x Reader (pronouns not specified)
Summary — My headcanons for if you were Five’s lover.
Warnings — opinions, no plot, it’s all over the place, last one is semi-NSFW.
A/N — i try to avoid nsfw with five because yk.. in the show, he’s physically thirteen but this one was too funny not to add. let’s all just pretend there was a happy ending okay 😭😭. i wrote this before season four came out so let’s pretend it ended happily.
— if you want another version where it’s just headcanons of you and five in the apocalypse i’m down for that.
Tumblr media
— I see headcanons where Five is straight up mean, manipulative, and where he’s just using you.
— To me, that’s not Five being in love with you. Have you seen how he treats Delores? HE’S SO SWEET TO HER.
— So if you’re his lover, he will give you princess treatment like no other, holy shit.
—He’ll prepare breakfast so it’s ready to be eaten when you wake up.
— He thinks breakfast in bed is a recipe for disaster so he never does that.
— If you take a while to wake up he’ll wake you up.
— “My love, breakfast is ready.” He’ll whisper into your ear before pressing a kiss onto your temple, then one on your forehead, then your nose… then finally a chaste kiss on your lips.
— He’ll tuck you in bed at night and make sure you’re all snug before leaving. If you can’t sleep he’ll read to you.
— With him around, you genuinely never have to open a door. In addition to paying for every meal, he always walks on the outside of the sidewalk. He also pulls the chair out for you when you sit and showers you with praise.
— Sometimes the praise is simple whispers in your ear because he isn’t much into PDA.
— There was never an official wedding, he stole two matching rings and gave one to you.
— He’d like to have an official wedding.
— If he has to worry about the apocalypse he’ll probably neglect you only because he thinks the fate of the world is in his hands.
— He loves going on simple dates, whether it’s at Griddy’s Doughnuts, a simple stroll in the park, or a little painting place.
— He’s fancy but he doesn’t see the point in expensive restaurants. He likes the little things.
— He loves to make and paint pottery with you, it’s his favourite thing to do.
— When he can’t sleep he’ll come over to your place and sit on the roof with you.
— If you fall asleep he’ll Blink into your room and tuck you in, and he’ll even leave a note for you to read when you wake up.
— It usually goes along the lines of..
“You fell asleep, don’t worry I made sure you got back in your room and I picked up all your stuffies from the floor and put them on the bed with you.”
— He struggles with insomnia.
— He’ll write you love letters even though it’s more convenient to send a text. He loves you and he’s willing to put effort in love notes.
— His primary love languages are quality time and acts of service.
— He doesn’t show much affection in public.
— He doesn’t mind holding your hand though.
— Five won’t be afraid to hold your hand, wrap an arm around your shoulders or waist while he’s with his siblings.
— Kisses and hugs are private though.
— Despite being private, he doesn’t hide the fact he’s dating you.
— If anyone tries anything on you, Five will glare daggers. If that’s not enough, he’ll threaten them, and if they keep pushing he’ll make them bleed (but not too severe 🥰)
— He’s hella protective.
— You make midnight munchies together.
— He’ll refuse to dance with you in the kitchen at 2am but he’ll reluctantly say yes and end up actually enjoying it.
— Same goes for dancing in the rain. He pretends to hate it but he loves it and you know he does.
— You always make pasta or noodles for midnight munchies.
— One time you made cookies and accidentally woke up Klaus who ate the cookie dough before you got to put it in the oven.
— When you guys had sex for the first time Klaus congratulated you and Five with a cake that said ‘virgin’ in the middle of a 🚫 and woke you up the next day with confetti.
Tumblr media
— sorry, i know i said i’d have a part three to my ben hargreeves fic but i wrote it and didn’t edit it.. and it didn’t seem entertaining enough to post, i’m sorry.
— if you want headcanons with the apocalypse involved, let me know <3

Boyfriend tax
(That short read)
Masterlist
Summary // Five loves the boyfriend tax.
Tumblr media
//
You’re all too familiar with the boyfriend tax, the second you have any kind of food in hand it’s as if Five can smell it, he comes straight over and takes a bite as he mumbles “boyfriend tax” with a grin.
There was a time where you tried to protest, you were standing in the kitchen, just finished making a sandwich but before you do anything Five stood in front of you, a shit eating grin plastered on his face. You knew what was about to happen, trying moving the plate but it was too late, he took it, took a bite and gave you a kiss, trying not to laugh as he ate. All you could do was stand there in disbelief, how did he even do that? “Love you” he chuckles, pulling you in for a hug as you can’t help but laugh. After a moment you ask “why do you always do that?” A small laugh following as you pull away from Five to look at his face, watching as he thought about it, reaching his hand for the plate again. You playfully slap his hand away, laughing as he pouts.
“I do it because of the boyfriend tax” he states proudly “what the fuck is the boyfriend tax?” You ask, more confused than before, Five shrugs “you make food, I test it for you” he smirks, giving you a small kiss catching your laugh. “So the boyfriend tax is you testing my food?” Laughing as the silliness of it all, he nods “yeah, pretty much” a grin still present on his face. You can’t help but laugh, shaking your head lightly as you grab the plate and head to the island, watching as your boyfriend saunters back off into your bedroom, disappearing as fast as he appeared.
You never really mind the boyfriend tax, it was now quick he was to claim it that amazed you, that and the cheek of him.
//
AuNote // hi guys! Thanks for all the love on my previous posts! Sorry for not posting much, I’ve got a few things in the words I’m hoping to post soon! Happy reading!:)<3

your wildest dream, his nightmare
Tumblr media
Five Hargreeves x Reader Synopsis: Walking into Max’s diner as a respite after you and Five are seemingly stuck you don’t think you could’ve imagined a better outcome surrounded by various versions of your lover. At the same time, for him it’s nothing more than a bad dream he hopes will end soon. Word count: 760 Tags: Fluff, Jealous Five, Crackfic Note: This small fic because it's funny to imagine jealous Five being jealous of himself
“Come on”
Five grabbed your hand as he led you out of the tube to, probably, another timeline. It must have been a few hours the two of you had been stuck in this place going station to station still with no idea how to get back.
You turned left but instead of being greeted with the usual blankness for Five to scribble about in his notebook you instead were somewhat blinded by the light of a sign.
‘Max’s delicatessen.’ You made eye contact with Five to the side of you before tilting your head with a nod towards the building. He simply followed your lead before quickly grabbing the door to let you in first.
You turned back to smile in thanks when you noticed his shocked expression, head quickly turned back towards the diner at a call of your name to see the whole diner was made up of your lover. Looking back to Five, your Five, in bewilderment a shocked smile on your face.
The look on your face seemed to take him out of his stupor clearing his throat before leading you into the diner- trying to find an empty table for you to sit at. He was quickly stopped by another Five, one sat on his own, and gestured for the two of you to sit opposite him. Five begrudgingly agreed as he realised the restaurant was at max capacity. No spare table in sight.
You quickly shuffled onto the brown bench when the other Five spoke
“It’s rare to see one of you around here” he smiled happy to see you
“Maybe this is not my typical scene” you rebutted a cheeky smile on your face that the Five opposite you seemed to enjoy, dimple now showing from smiling so wide
“Maybe” he breathed out in a laugh
Before you could continue to speak with this version of Five another one appeared in front of you, this one not wearing a suit or vest. He quickly placed down a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich in front of your Five. He then turned to you placing a very familiar drink in front of you
“Your favourite” he declared when you looked confused
“How did you know?” You smiled at him eyebrows furrowing as his cheeks went red
“We all know your favourites” he shrugged as if it was the most normal thing in the world
“Um- Thanks” you nodded your head in gratitude
“Anything for the missus” he mumbled before leaving to go back to the kitchen
You took a sip of your drink when your Five spoke irritated “What was that about?” a hand possessively stroking at your thigh
“A lot of us having seen our version of her in a long time” the other Five spoke wistfully
“How sad” you stated before turning around in your seat you waved and greeted the Fives around you who all became quite delighted at your attention all greeting you with a similar bravado.
“Okay.” Five declared “I think we are done here” he quickly at up pulling you up with him by grabbing hold of your hand once more
“But we just got here, can’t we stay a little longer and rest?” you asked not wanting to leave. I mean why would you, surrounded by multiple versions of the man who loved you, say no to having his attention on you?
“No, we need to get back to my family in our timeline, come on. We are wasting time.” he rebutted practically pulling you away from the diner seemingly getting even more annoyed as the other Fives shouted goodbyes towards you.
“I didn’t realise I was so annoying, that was a nightmare” Five claimed as you sat on a train hopefully taking you back home
“Sure you weren’t jealous?” you quipped staring at him mischievously
“No” he grumbled arms crossing against his chest
“Then you won’t mind if I-” you spoke moving towards the doors to go back to the diner, quickly shutting up when Five grabbed your hands pulling you back onto the seat beside him. You simply smiled at his look of false ire towards you as the train started to move. Resting your head on his shoulder as he let a smile grace his features giving a kiss to the top of your head.
You hope that at some point you will get to return to the diner- a place you have just coined akin to heaven on earth.

Family Dinner
pairing: Five x reader ft the Hargreeves siblings
warnings: the usual Hargreeves siblings chaos
notes: fulfilling a request asking for a shy!reader meeting Five’s siblings for the first time. it was actually very hard squeezing in so many characters into one piece
summary: despite trying his best to avoid it, Five is forced to introduce you to the family
Tumblr media
The last thing Five wanted was for you to meet his family. If he could, he’d do everything in his power to keep you away from the chaos and stupidity that was his siblings forever. He didn’t need them overwhelming you with their quarreling or reminding you of how utterly tumultuous his home life was, and he felt an unwavering need to keep you separate from the Umbrella Academy. You were the one thing he didn’t have to share with his siblings, the one thing he had earned on his own without his powers, and the one thing that was normal in his life. He would do anything to keep his life from tainting your innocence by all means.
The discovery of your existence by his family had been completely accidental. When visiting his new apartment for the first time, Allison and Klaus had stumbled upon a framed photograph that Five had forgotten to stow away before their arrival. In the frame was a beautiful girl with kind features and a gentle smile, her arms lovingly draped around Five’s neck as he held her to his side and forced a lopsided grin for the camera. They knew Five had always hated photos, but it seemed here that he was willing to set aside his disdain for being photographed to please this mystery girl.
“What are you two looking at?” Five demanded after stumbling upon them staring down at the frame. Eyes widening when he realizes just exactly what the two are looking at, he quickly snatches the photo from Klaus’s grasp and holds it protectively against his chest. “I can’t believe this, I was gone for two minutes and neither of you could manage to stay out of my things.”
“Why didn’t you tell us you had a girlfriend?” Klaus asks, voice laced with mock offense as he clutches at his chest to mimic being wounded.
“The details of my personal life are none of your concern,” Five grits through clenched teeth, his tone dripping in annoyance at their snooping and frustration at being caught red handed. How could he have been so sloppy? Five had always been meticulous about every minute detail and keen at covering his tracks when needed, and yet he had failed to protect the most important secret he held.
“She’s gorgeous,” Allison tells him in hopes of assuaging her agitated brother, “and she looks really sweet. Why would you hide something like this?”
“This may come as a shock to you, Allison, but you guys aren’t exactly great at first impressions,” he explains condescendingly with a tight lipped smile, doing his best to hold back the urge to use more colorful language and insults. “The last thing I need is for you guys to start hashing out old childhood issues in front of her and scare her off.”
“Ouch, okay, noted,” she replies with a displeased frown. “But that’s still no excuse to keep your relationship a secret. I know we’re not always the most reliable bunch, but obviously this girl is important to you, Five, and if that’s the case then she’s important to us, too. Just give us a chance to prove ourselves- bring her to my place Friday for dinner so we can all get introduced.”
Five is silent as he mulls over Allison’s offer, doubt clear on his features as he considers all the possible ways a family dinner with you could go. While there are a million ways for it to go wrong, he’s able to acknowledge the plausibility of it being a success. As much as he hated to admit it, his sister did have a point. They weren’t always completely unreliable, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t think spending time with his siblings could actually be pleasant at times. And it’s not like you haven’t been questioning him already about his family and the details of his childhood. Perhaps it was time to finally bite the bullet.
“You get one chance,” Five finally relents in a firm tone, pointing his finger at them both in warning. “Do not screw this up.”
“How exciting!” Klaus gasps with an enthusiastic clap of his hands. “Oh, I have the perfect dish for this occasion.”
As Allison and Klaus immediately begin to discuss the details of Friday’s dinner, Five can only force himself to quell his panic as best as possible and hope that you’re able to stand his family.
~~~
You fidget nervously with the pendant of your necklace as Five swiftly parks the car in front of Allison’s home. It’s beautiful, and by the looks of the warm lights that glow through the window it seems the festivities have begun. Despite your boyfriend having already turned off the car, you make no attempt to move, prompting Five to reach over and gently take hold of your hand in his.
“Don’t worry,” he assures you in the softest voice he can manage. “These idiots are more worried about impressing you than you are about impressing them.”
“They’re not idiots, they’re your siblings,” you reprimand him gently before finally mustering up the courage to step foot out of the car. “And despite how much you act like they annoy you I know you really care about them. I just want it to go well is all.”
Five can’t really argue with that- sometimes he hates how easily you’re able to read him. It’s a feat not many can accomplish, and yet you managed to do so in record time. It’s also just another thing he adores about you; you see him like no one has before, and your gentle nature and levelheadedness perfectly balance out his tense and combative personality. You’re good for him, and he hopes his siblings see the good in you too.
The door swings open before you can press the doorbell and immediately you find yourself being pulled into the tightest hug of your life. A gasp of surprise leaves you at the sudden intrusion, and it takes everything in Five to resist the urge to immediately pry his sister off of you. He stares daggers at her innocent smile behind your back, but she merely waves him off before pulling away to look at you.
“It is so good to finally meet you!” She exclaims cheerfully, excitement clear in her tone. “I’m Allison. Come in, come in.”
You aren’t able to get in a word edge-wise as the woman practically drags you into her home and begins to show you around. A pleasant smelling aroma fills the house from the food that cooks in the kitchen, and animated chatter drifts throughout the hallways as the siblings gather and catch up on each other’s lives.
“Please make yourself at home and let me know if you need anything at all.”
“Thank you, a-and thank you for having me,” you offer with a meek smile, your hands nervously wringing together in front of you. “I’ve heard so much about you all and it’s finally nice to put faces to the names. I’m y/n.”
“Well then, welcome to the family y/n,” Allison notes with a wink before disappearing into the kitchen. You almost jump in surprise when you feel Five’s hand rest against your lower back as he leads you into the living room to meet the rest of his siblings.
“Ready to enter the lion’s den?” He whispers under his breath, and for a moment you genuinely can’t decipher whether or not he’s joking.
Three men and a woman sit on the couch animatedly discussing the contents of the television show playing on the screen before turning silent at your arrival. The sudden attention makes you nervous, your throat drying up as you harshly swallow down your anxiety.
“Luther, Diego, Lila, I’d like to introduce you to my… girlfriend,” Five utters after clearing his throat, obviously not familiar with the process of introducing a partner to family. He was still fairly new at this relationship stuff and still struggled at times with opening up. If he didn’t care about you so much he probably wouldn’t even bother, so you appreciate his efforts. “Y/n, these are my brothers and my sister-in-law.”
“Girlfriend, huh? This is certainly an upgrade from the last one,” Diego teases with a wry chuckle.
“Wasn’t the last one a mannequin?” Lila prompts with a raised brow much to Five’s dismay.
“Shut it,” he warns through clenched teeth, heat crawling up his neck at the mention of Delores. Leave it to those two to bring up his past at the worst time.
“A mannequin?” You repeat unsurely, your features contorted in confusion. Five’s eyes widen in panic, but Luther is quick to change the subject on Five’s behalf.
“It’s nice to see Five with someone for a change,” he notes with a nervous chuckle in hopes his comment redirects your attention off of the previous topic. “How did you two meet?”
“I work at a coffee shop in town,” you explain with a sheepish smile, and Five visibly relaxes beside you as you start to recount the beginnings of your relationship. A crisis has been avoided thanks to Luther, and for once Five is grateful for his brother’s conversational skills. “I was the only one who could make his coffee exactly the way he liked it, so he became a regular and would stop by every time I was working. We got to talking, one thing led to another, and, well, here I am.”
“Well, I for one think you are much too good for him,” Lila points out to the boy’s annoyance, “but seeing him less uptight and ornery is a pleasant change.”
“Thank you for that lovely observation, Lila,” Five retorts sarcastically with a roll of his eyes before escorting you out of the living room before the woman can embarrass him any further.
“Did you really date a mannequin?” You whisper curiously only for Five to immediately redden at your question.
“Let’s not hash out my dating history just right this second,” he instructs you before entering the dining room where a man has just finished setting down a heavy centerpiece on the table while another watches.
“Hmm, a little more to the left,” the one with curly hair and heavy eyeliner instructs while scrutinizing its placement. His eyes glance over the table before landing on you and Five in the doorway, and he immediately gasps before rushing over to greet you. “You must be y/n! Oh, it is so lovely to meet you. I’m Klaus, Five’s favorite brother, of course.”
“I don’t ever recall saying that,” Five points out with a raised brow and amused smile. Klaus simply rolls his eyes and waves his brother off with a tsk.
“You don’t have to, I can see it in your face,” he dismisses before returning his attention to you. “And that handsome man over there is our sweet brother Viktor.”
“Hey,” Viktor offers with a timid smile and small wave. “Nice to see you, welcome to family dinner.”
“Thank you,” you reply gratefully, “it’s nice to finally meet you all.”
“Well, not all of us. A certain someone thinks he’s too good for family dinner,” Klaus huffs in annoyance before turning his attention back to the centerpiece. “Does that look centered to you?”
“It looks perfect. I love the arrangement you’ve made,” you compliment much to Klaus’s delight.
“Finally someone with taste!” He gasps before draping an arm around you much to Five’s dismay and guiding you back to the kitchen. “Come, come little one, you can help me pick which napkins to use.”
Watching your figures disappear into the hallway, Viktor glances at Five before stating, “I don’t think you’ll be getting her back for a while.”
“Trust me, I’m aware,” the boy sighs in displeasure before heading towards Allison’s liquor cabinet for a drink.
Much to Five’s surprise, dinner goes off without a hitch. The food is lovely, the conversation is pleasant, and despite your usually shy demeanor you were able to open up rather quickly to his siblings. It was obvious the family took a great liking to you, and his original worries about them scaring you off had been proven irrational and untrue.
From his seat on the couch Five watches as you animatedly converse with Luther and Klaus about a new bakery that just opened up in town, your smile never once leaving your face and their interest in your words never once dwindling. He doesn’t think he’s ever seen you talk this much, and the sight brings a comfortable warmth to his chest at seeing you happy.
“See? This wasn’t so bad, was it?” Allison goads with a pleased smile. “Everyone had a nice time and y/n fits right in.”
“As much as I hate to say it, I’m sorry for doubting you,” Five relents with a soft smile. “This was nice.”
“And we like y/n, so don’t mess this up,” Lila warns him with a facetious shove to his shoulder. Annoyed by her words, Five rolls his eyes and shrugs away from her touch before refocusing his gaze on you. Your eyes meet for a brief second as you glance out into the living room, and you flash him a quick smile before looking back to Klaus who enthusiastically grabs hold of your hands and begins to demand a trip to the bakery with you while Luther attempts to insert himself into the plan. Despite how annoying his family can be at times, he’d be lying if he said it didn’t bring a smile to see his face to see them all get along with the girl he loves.
“Trust me,” he utters carefully, his voice so uncharacteristically tender it takes the two women by surprise, “I’ll do anything to keep her around for as long as I live.”
