I love The Forgotten Son, because Brigadier (tho he’s still a colonel when this is set) goes back to his home village, and realises he remembers basically none of his childhood, and the other soldier he’s with asks “did you have a traumatic childhood?” And Brig’s like “nope. Definitely not a traumatic childhood. I remember basically nothing but it must be because of something else”
Then the rest of the book proceeds to show that Brig did indeed have a traumatic childhood that slowly comes back to him
(Ofc, it’s the dr who universe, so the memory loss is alien stuff, but still)
#classic doctor who#brigadier lethbridge stewart#“I didn’t have a traumatic childhood#*vaguely remembers his village and knows he should have memories of places but just doesnt*#*finds a carving of his father’s initials and someone else’s’ and proceeds to have a nightmare unlocking past memories*#*proceeds to have a few memories resurface*#*his old friend also telling him other memories that he doesn’t remember but should*#*finds out he witnessed his brother die* (Also doesn’t remember having a brother - alien stuff)#(Also his dad died during the war - also also his mum became very religious and I daresay a bit distanced from Alistair because she got#trauma but it was the 40s so she got no help)#(also Alistair saw a ‘ghost’ as a kid and so did his brother James and Alistair slowly kinda lost his brother#(brother getting an ‘imaginary friend’ and becoming closed off etc))#essentially finding out parts of his childhood made me go ‘omg if the great intelligence hadn’t fucked with your memory you totally would’v#repressed most of this because yeesh’#but he’s the brigadier so he handles this all remarkably well#I say - pretending he didn’t basically kill a person out of anger for messing with his mum

Hello!
This will be my official “introductory” post!
My real name is Erica, but I go by many names. My nickname repertoire includes but is not limited to: Lumi, Lumini, Cricket (I have a habit of rubbing my feet together, lmao), Jinx, Eri, Er, EriJoy, Sunbaeby, and Aceir (my real name but in alphabetical order).
This is my first ever Tumblr blog. I’ve had it for a while but have rarely posted anything, that along with the fact that I’m on mobile is kind of a mess so I apologize for mistakes and all that.
I have 3 older brothers, an older sister, and a younger brother.
I’m an ambivert. Sometimes I love hanging out with bigger groups of people, other times I dread it.
I’ve taken the “16personalities” test 4 times and all 4 put me in the “Diplomat” category, however I got “Advocate” (INFJ) 2 times, and “Protagonist” (ENFJ) and “Mediator” (INFP) 1 time each.
I am LGBTQ+. I’m asexual, aro+panromantic flux, and while I feel like I’m genderfluid, the changes are very subtle and so I sometimes just go with agender, gendervoid, or neutrois. It’s a lot less complicated that way. I’m ambiamorous, and also pronoun apathetic!
I love whump. I’ve loved it for as long as I can remember but only found the whump community maybe 3(?) years ago.
I also love K-Pop, C-Pop, J-Pop, and Asian dramas, mainly K-Pop and K-Dramas, though.
I’m a HUGE multistan. ATEEZ, SKZ, TBZ, EXO, BTS, Red Velvet, SHINee, iKON, MONSTA X, TWICE, TO1, WANNA ONE, SuperM, X1, MIRAE, Ciipher, Golden Child, Purple Kiss, BAE173, SF9, IU, ONEUS, ONEWE, The Rose, PIXY, LUCY, STAYC, WEi (which I pronounced as “way” for an embarrassingly long time), Dreamcatcher, Brave Girls, TXT, ENHYPEN, SNSD, KARD, AKMU, SHAUN, Gaho, NCT, GHOST9, 1team, SE7EN, Cross Gene, D1ce, AB6IX, CRAVITY, BLACKPINK, CIX, VIXX, f(x), 4Minute, CLC, YEZI, B.I, Wonho, (G)I-DLE, EVERGLOW, SEVENTEEN, BROOKLYN, Ha Hyunsang, DAY6, GOT7, Teen Top, BAP, TREASURE, UNIQ, etc! It goes on, far longer than I can list. I am also very much against fanwars, they disgust me.
I’m also a HUGE animal lover, and a big softie. I can’t even squish insects. I don’t care that they can’t feel pain and don’t experience emotions, I just can’t bring myself to. I make it my mission to save any type of animal I come across. I find toads in our koi pond and immediately pick them out and take them to a safe place. I help turtles across the road. I got a mouse out of a puddle and revived it, releasing it when it was healthy enough. I saw a snail on a piece of wood that was going to be thrown on a fire and carefully pulled it off and put it somewhere else. So far I’ve found 5 stray cats (Piper, Toothless, Felix, Kai, and Kit Kat—all were found as skinny, sickly kittens) and took them in, raising them as my own. I rescued a chipmunk from certain death-by-cat. I’ve even saved a few baby raccoons, ducklings, lizards, spiders, and snakes in my time. And I’ll keep doing so for as long as I live.
I love writing, drawing/sketching, and painting, however I’m not confident that I’m good at any of those things, lmao. I mean, I don’t think I’m the worst, but my finished “works” often leave me unsatisfied with my “skills”. But of course, that won’t stop me from trying to improve!
I’m a maladaptive daydreamer. This can cause issues in some places while helping me out in others. On one hand, it makes doing chores and such kind of difficult. Like one time I had to take care of my dad’s pigeons while he was fixing our shed and one time he pointed out how slow I was with the chores. His words were something along the lines of, I’m already almost done with what I have to do and you’re still working with the pigeons.” Also, it (and maybe ADHD if I do have it?) made school a nightmare for me. But it’s also helpful because then during church it’s really easy to keep myself occupied while the pastors go on about their Magical Sky Daddy™’s son throwing a tantrum and killing a figtree because it didn’t have any figs and how that story should “challenge” us or something.
The characters in my daydreams are weird, though. They merge and separate with each other to make different characters depending on the situation. Most of them don’t have definite genders. Only a handful of them have names because they’re always merging and separating like some kind of Shadow Clone Masters or something. Stuff like that.
One of my characters is for sure a demi-boy, though, and his name is Kyler.
I brought this up because I was watching The Andy Griffith Show and Andy was giving Opie a lecture on how many poor kids there are in the world and used the ratio “one and a half boys per square mile”. Opie then says that he’s “never seen a half a boy before”. Kyler just sort of pops into (fake) existence, jumps off the couch, and throws his arms in the air while saying, “Half a boy, right here!” I burst out laughing. Thankfully it didn’t seem weird, since my parents started laughing at Opie and thought that I was just laughing at it, too.
Any-who.
If I daydream while I’m standing, I’ll often pace and gesture with my arms while moving my lips. Sometimes I’ll even whisper. If I’m sitting down, I usually fidget a lot (such as pick at my shirt and rub my feet together), stare into space, and move my lips or whisper. My family sometimes ask me, “Why are you whispering?” Or, “What are you grinning about?” And I just shrug because I don’t know how to explain it to them without risking them calling someone to pray over me, lmao. I mean, I wasn’t even allowed to have imaginary friends because that was “evil”. When I was about 7, I told my parents about my imaginary unicorn friend and they gave me a lecture and “prayed over me”. It was embarrassing and awkward for me.
I’m suspicious that I might have ADHD, but don’t have the money to actually get a professional diagnosis. I’m also too scared to ask my parents about it.
Speaking of which, my family and I don’t see eye-to-eye. I mean, they don’t know it because I’m good at hiding it, and they think I agree with mostly everything they do but boy, is it a mess.
You see, they’re evangelical conservative Christians. “LGBTQ+ people are going to hell”, “ThE LeFt ARe eViL AnD ARe TrYiNg To BrAiNwAsh OuR ChiLdrEn”, “Trump was sent by God”, “Intersex is fake”, “Women must submit to men”, “You should get married no later than in a year or ‘the temptation’ to have sex might become too much”, the whole bit.
Meanwhile I’m over here with my (imaginary) pride flags, just existing as an agnostic leftist who wants everyone to have equal rights, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, and would rather redo my horrifically atrocious kindergarten closing program role than pray to a god who (if they/he/she/it/whatever exists) gives cancer to kids and killed millions of innocent animals and people in the Bible.
But they have no idea that this is how I feel and now expect me to be baptized within the next month to show that I have “accepted Jesus Christ as my savior”. Yeah...that’s gonna be an awkward discussion...
Anyway, that’s just some things about me. Sorry that I got sidetracked a few times, lmao!
I look forward to posting more and maybe even making friends!
Thank you for reading (:

I’m starting to think maybe I don’t want to get married. Hypothetically I’d love to be in a godly marriage with a man who respects me and sees me as the person that God does (and not only me but women as a whole), but realistically do christian men like that even exist? Mainstream christianity, especially gender discourse, is so watered down and twisted into something that’s more political than biblical. I feel like this is gonna piss off both the christians and feminists, even though I’m both (though some might say I’m not a real feminist, whatever idc lol). Might also tag as Side B because I feel like this is also maybe a Side B mood? But here goes.
Color coded by vague topic, bolded so it’s easier to read.
Like I recently heard of a pastor being criticized for saying it’s a woman’s duty to look good for her husband, and the boomer conservatives were acting like criticisms of this pastor was the end of christianity. There’s no way “looking good” in a biblical sense was anything more than basic hygiene, nowhere near the beauty standards of today; and that is if the idea of looking good for your husband is even in the bible. These people siding with the pastor were saying that any woman who doesn’t shave or hide her “flaws” with makeup or basically completely embody the tradwife meme are bad wives. Like what the literal hell.
Honestly the entire tradwife aesthetic seems to be the goal for a lot of young christian couples, when it’s not inherently biblical. I used to be into it myself because heck yeah staying home, housekeeping, taking care of children, and wearing cute flowery dresses sounds like a dream. But my goals aren’t universal! Some women don’t want kids. Some women want to work. Good and God-honoring women of the bible didn’t all have kids and stay home. I mean the timeline of the bible spans so long, so yeah maybe there were times when most women did. But that doesn’t mean women who didn’t were bad wives or lesser women. Not to mention there’s such a blurred line currently between cute tradwife lifestyle and creeps who fetishize the idea of a traditional (and by traditional they mean submissive) wife. Gross.
Another thing too many christian men do is say women can’t be in any position of power in the church. There is the whole specific issue of whether or not women should be the highest up actual pastor of the church, and I don’t know enough about that whole debate to validate or debunk it, but I’m not talking about that specifically here. Aside from that one position, a lot of christians think women can only teach other women and girls but not guys, even like literal child boys. That’s so weird, like imagine thinking a little boy has more authority than, or even equal to, a grown woman? Couldn’t be me. And this whole idea comes from an out of context “I do not permit women to speak in the church” from a regular human guy. And the reason he said this was that the women around him were spreading heresy. I still think it’s flawed logic to exclude all women from speaking in that situation just because most of them were wrong, but again, this wasn’t a command from God. This was just a guy recording his church experience and doing his flawed human best to manage it. Various women throughout the actual bible outside of this one leader’s timeline held positions of power in various churches. And modern day american christian men think biblical womanhood is all about subservience? Bro what bible are you reading?
I just want to make it clear that these are all just generalizations, but having been in various actual biblical communities and conservative christian communities, I can kinda pick up on the general sexist behaviors of the latter. But unfortunately in today’s political climate more and more young christians are only being exposed to political opinions that are surface level americanized good christian morals, but not actually biblical.
Even on top of that, even if a man knows of these biblical misconceptions, we live in a society. Like we’re constantly exposed to women’s sexualization, and it’s pretty impossible to escape that. I don’t want to spend my life with someone who’s grown up in a world where women are seen as weak, objects, pleasure machines, etc. And yeah we can unlearn these biases (honestly I hate the word unlearn but I can’t think of a substitute rn), but it feels like a hassle to casually figure out whether a guy can make an effort to understand what women go through, and if I were to just bring it up I’d scare them away. And that’s not to say I’m some perfect person who’s never sexualized men, we are all sinners after all and we live in a fallen world etc etc. But a whole society where women are so objectified that it’s normal for little boys to be watching porn, that just doesn’t really happen with little girls. I can’t speak for all women, but when I started seeing men sexually it was in my late teens when I realized like ‘oh I can sexualize men too? wild. ok I’m an adult lemme check it out’. Still sinful, but not ingrained in me from porn ads as a kid the way most young boys have been since like the creation of the internet.
Even the men currently in my life who genuinely want what’s best for me are so incredibly misogynistic it’s baffling. My male family members see any woman who breaks an imaginary dress code or ideology is some kind of deviant. I just want to make it clear that this is MY family and I’M the only one who gets to complain about them. We all love each other here even if the males are horribly wrong.
So I shaved my head for halloween and my dad could barely look at me, not because he was exactly mad or anything but just because I looked ugly to him. He always says ‘close the windows in your apartment because men will spy on you changing’ but after my hair was gone he was all ‘actually don’t bother because nobody will look at you looking like that’ like wow I wasn’t aware men only sexualized women for their hair. Like you really think a gross creeper is gonna be turned off by a fully naked oblivious vulnerable woman just because she’s bald? That’s not how any of this works. And just today my sister was watching a goth youtuber egirl or something, I didn’t see her makeup but my dad said stuff like ‘ew why does she look like that, maybe it’d be cool as a costume but how is she going to get a job’. Like, I’m not one to go ‘women don’t wear makeup for men’ (because most women who only use makeup to hide their insecurities and follow beauty standards very much just do it so they don’t get backlash from others, if not directly to please men), but when it’s a fun crazy look that’s not meant to be pretty, I’m all for that shit and generally I hate when men lose respect for a woman just for wearing something they don’t like. Like fashion isn’t real and your appearance should be as costumey or weird as you want without people losing respect for you. Also like...do men know that makeup isn’t permanent?? Like if she wanted a job that required no makeup she could easily wipe her face off and get one?? Not only that, but people can work from home and/or be self employed. Maybe youtube itself was this girl’s job. Who the hell cares man. And the worst thing here is my brother outright said one time “the root cause of feminism is pride”. B r u h. And this was back when I considered myself an anti-feminist, even then I knew that feminism started for good reason and I was absolutely furious. I think I kept it to myself like a coward lol, but if anyone said that to me now I’d tear them apart. In a debate I mean, not like literal violence.
Tldr: I’m not trying to say men are inherently more evil because there’s evil in everyone, but the way it takes shape in men in most societies is so insidious and inescapable. I love my family and guy friends, but I don’t want to deal with one in a romantic/sexual relationship because I don’t know if even the most educated and goodest christian boi in this world can see me as a true equal. It sucks because I want sex and children, but when the mainstream idea of hetero sex is female submission, it just makes me shrivel up and contemplate becoming a nun. I’m not even catholic. But even nuns are sexualized and degraded in coomer’s disgusting brains. In conclusion I’m going feral and starting my own woman-only church in the woods let’s go ladies.

I would love for you to talk more indepth about the montage. To me it feels so off and weird. Almost like a parody? So many scenes in it are "funny" moments that just don't make sense in the context of an emotional overview of the road so far... (Like all the scenes where Dean is eating, Donna with donut dust on her face, Sam getting hit during the game show.) I don't know. Isn't the montage supposed to make me nostalgic, teary-eyed? This one definitely doesn't do it for me!
Here I am! Yes, I absolutely agree. The montage is Weird(TM). It’s kind of a tone rollercoaster. It’s very full of funny/silly moments, with some serious moments smacked in. And it definitely looks like... there’s something about it.
For an easier consultation I will reference the gifs I have made of the montage sequence here.
[Gif 1] It starts pretty much like I’d expect a Supernatural goodbye montage to start. The two brothers meeting for the first time in the pilot, a reminder of their childhood with John, their banter still from the pilot, a couple moments of them driving in the car in the first seasons, Dean saving Lucas in 1x03 which is the first Dean-heavy episode and also an extremely symbolic moment for Dean’s entire journey - just think at how Lucas as a mirror was still relevent during the “drowning” Michael possession arc. Everything feels normal so far. We’re starting from the beginning! Now--
[Gif 2] Interesting and weird choices start here. Them pretending to be high school teachers from After School Special 4x13 - actually a very iconic moment for the fandom, remember that post of Dean in shorts from that episode that you had to reblog when it came on your dash? (Actually I’m not sure if I ever reblogged it lol.) Dean celebrating getting young again from The Curious Case of Dean Winchester 5x07 (and Jensen showing off his agility). The two of them showing their FBI badges to Jesse Turner’s biological mother in 5x06. Dean mowing the lawn of Mary’s house in the Djinn dream and immediately after Jess and Sam kissing also in the Djinn dream, from What Is And What Should Never Be 2x20. Then Dean after killing the witch when he was under the memory loss spell, in Regarding Dean 12x11. Sam happy when they celebrate Christmas in A Very Supernatural Christmas 3x08. Them being “lucky” under the effect of the rabbit’s foot in Bad Day At Black Rock 3x03. Sam also happy in Baby 11x04.
Again the present, then the montage starts again with the water-related ghost from Red Sky At Morning 3x06, a Bela episode, and then Bela herself from her first episode, 3x03 again.
What do these moments have in common? Not all of them, but for many of them I’d say reality being manipulated. The Djinn dream, the rabbit foot, Dean’s aging, the Antichrist... and it’s not over yet. Also, them pretending to be teachers, agents etc - not “real”.
[Gif 3] The tone suddenly gets more serious and relevant to current events: Chuck in The Monster at the End of This Book 4x18 (eh). Death in Two Minutes to Midnight 5x21 (the first appearance of Death, while now we’ve had Billie’s last and a very short-lived new one), and then two major moments from Lazarus Rising - Dean emerging from the grave and finding the handprint on his shoulder. Crowley’s first episode, Abandon All Hope 5x10. Zachariah’s death in Point Of No Return 5x18. Anna from The Song Remains The Same 5x13, where she is the antagonist having been brainwashed successfully by heaven. Michael burning and Sam jumping in the cage with Michael in 5x22, then another moment from 4x01 (the brothers hugging after reuniting). A moment from The French Mistake 6x15 (reality fuckery again!). Sam in Frontierland 6x18.
[Gif 4] Reality fuckery continues with Becky marrying Sam in 7x08. Funnily enough, this is the peak of Becky’s obsessive behavior which she went to therapy for and grew away of - it definitely emphasizes how far Becky has come. Donna’s first appeance in 9x13. That iconic shot of Dean in Bloodlust 2x03 because he’s pretty. Charlie’s first appearance in 7x20 while she dances to Walking On Sunshine (relevant?), Kevin’s first appearance in 7x21 when he becomes a prophet (lots of firsts). Abaddon’s first appearance in As Time Goes By 8x12. Then there’s the first appearance of the bunker, in the next episode, a couple shots in fact. Then more 4x01, Ruby pretending to mistake Dean for the pizza man (eh). Then more present...
This section seems to be mostly “first appearances” - including Ruby’s s4 meatsuit, i.e. Genevieve’s first appearance.
[Gif 5] We suddenly jump to more recent events with Kelly and Jack in heaven in Byzanthium 4x08. Jack’s iconic hello from 4x16 Don’t Go In The Woods. Dean teaching Jack how to drive in 14x07 Unhuman Nature. But then we suddenly go from Jack things to something completely different on the surface: two consecutive moments from Changing Channels 5x08, including the iconic Nutcracker scene, and Sully from Just My Imagination. We are actually back to the previous theme: reality fuckery. Gabriel’s episode was about placing them in “television shows”, Sully, while real, is literally a child’s “imaginary friend”. And then... a moment from the cartoon part of Scoobynatural! It doesn’t get more reality fuckery than that. Oh, wait! Charlie and Dorothy going to Oz in 9x04. That’s a pretty strong contender. Dean being hit in the face by a fairy in 6x09 - also about a realm Dean briefly went to. And, in case we felt like we hadn’t gotten enough 4x01 yet, Pamela’s first appearance (her last, albeit a hallucination, was about the whole “How come you only want what you can't have?” thing).
[Gif 6] We continue again with a mixture of firsts and weird things. Ellen’s first appearance in 2x02, Dean and Cas in 4x18 (we saw Chuck from that episode earlier), Jody’s first appearance in 5x15 Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid. Rufus in 6x04 Weekend At Bobby’s (not his first but a good episode...), Garth in 9x12 Sharp Teeth (not his first but the first in which he is a werewolf and is married... relevant to recent lamp events??), Missouri in 1x09 (her first appearance).
Then Gabriel from 13x21 Beat The Devil (an episode where he plays a trick on Lucifer) and Rowena from the same scene (in fact a scene where they’re flirting). Then Eileen coming back to life in 15x06 and smiling at Sam. Jo flirting with Dean in 2x02 - her first appearance, again. Funnily enough, she had been introduced as a love interest, but ended up being repurposed as a sisterly figure. Tempted to say it’s relevant in an ironic way. Mary in 14x11 Damaged Goods, when Dean has a goodbye mother-son moment with her. Amara in 11x09 Oh Brother Where Art Thou when she was looking for her brother. Then Lucifer in two different vessels (12x07 Rock Never Dies and 12x21, when Lucifer regains control over the vessel).
Then Metatron doing the find a wife make babies speech to Cas in 8x23! Relevant??? Dun dun dun. Then Ketch for some reason (the first episode where we see his face, 12x08 LOTUS).
[Gif 7] Then Jo/Anael in 13x13, another first appearance. (I cropped these horribly I should have cut them when the present happens lol.)
Sandwiched between two shots from the present, Dean Sam Mary and John having dinner together in 14x13 Lebanon.
Then we start again with Dean riding Larry in 12x11, Dean and Cas dressed as cowboys in 13x06 (mini pattern here...), Asmodeus with the archangel blade in 13x13 (insert meta about Asmodeus in Christian lore here), and the really intriguing “Intermission” shot from the play in 10x05.
[Gif 8] To continue a certain pattern we might be tempted to see, Dean eating piecake from 14x06 Optimism (an episode about a distorted version of romantic love), then Dean eating noodles from 10x13 Halt & Catch Fire (the ghost is a husband that passes on thanks to his wife). Dean after his dentistry session with Garth in 15x10. Meg from 6x10 Caged Heat (the episode with the pizza man porn). Dean and Sam investigating in 4x12 Criss Angel Is a Douchebag (an episode about growing old poorly). Crowley in 10x16 Paint It Black (that episode). Dean playing that game in 14x17 Game Night (the episode Cas calls for God, and when Mary dies - the one playing the game was God...). Sam and Dean getting out of the car in 13x05 when they visit the traumatized kid (peak mourning Dean episode...). Then we go into reality fuckery territory again with 14x15 Peace of Mind, Sam under the psychic’s control and Cas disgruntled about it.
[Gif 9] Mick Davies from 12x16 Ladies Drink Free, when he learnt a lesson about monsters. Dean geeking out about the Hatchet Man - so heavy with mirror significances - in 14x04 Mint Condition. Belphegor - Jack’s dark mirror - in 15x03 The Rupture, the break-up episode. Donna’s first episode again, this time Dean and she eating donuts. Dean, Sam and Mary hugging in 12x22 after the confrontation in Mary’s head. Kaia in 13x09 The Bad Place, when Jack uses her to find the way to where Mary is (Mary pattern?). Claire&co rescuing Jody and Donna in 13x10 Wayward Sisters. Dean in 1944 dresses as a sailor in 11x14 The Vessel. Baby nyooming in 15x11 The Gamblers...
Aaand more Changing Channels, the genital herpes ad. It’s almost like reality fuckery is a theme. Followed by Sam drinking the anti-cold concoction at Garth’s in 15x10 and the two of them outside the monster fighting pit in the same episode. Then Cas, Dean, Sam and Jack on a video call with Ketch in 14x09 The Spear when they talk about the egg to trap Michael.
[Gif 10] We stay in the same episode with the four of them heading to Michael. Then the four of them celebrating Jack’s return to life (after Cas’ deal with the Empty). More present, and then the iconic “we’ve got work to do” [trunk closes] moment from the pilot.
So: some of these moments seem like genuine moments you’ll want to put in a montage, but there’s a weird predominance of characters smiling and looking happy or goofy. It’s kind of... not exactly representative of the show as a whole, you know? There are moments that fit as, you know, iconic steps in the story, but surprisingly few, and many moments you’d expect to be in a “final” montage are blatantly not there. Several moments with, let’s put it like this, suspicious meta connotations. Moments that, well, we don’t know what happens in the finale yet, but smell like they might be relevant to future developments. (Metatron’s speech to newly human Cas anyone?)
What really strikes me is the amount of moments connected to reality being manipulated or distorted in some way. Lots of Changing Channels, fantasy elements of various kinds (the Djinn dream, Scoobynatural, Oz, the imaginary friend Becky’s wedding to Sam, the fairy, ...), them acquiring luck (s3) or losing it (s15), and so on. It’s almost like the sequence is telling us something...

THE BOOK OF LIFE TUA AU
(please understand that by AU, I mean they share an incredibly small amount of things in common with the original source material which I barely remember BUT the “story” takes place in the setting of the film) (not to be misleading or anything :p)
(BEWARE: abuse, murder, war, violence, death, forbidden love (on more than one account), surprise surprise everybody's sad, yeah head's up this is way sadder than the movie is sorry, okay enjoy i guess, bye, etc.)
(If you can handle watching Umbrella Academy, this will be fine for you.)
(Maria) Allison grew up alongside Ray and Luther, the three of them an inseparable team known for their mischief and ferocity. Allison was always the balance between the two, carrying both Luther’s bravery and Ray’s wit as she led them into battle against imaginary friends and foes, living every day with a delighted laugh. Though she had a sister, Vanya, who she was very close to at one point, Vanya perished in a fire when they were all seven, leaving Allison with a hole in her heart and a crushing case of pyrophobia. Following the incident, Allison became even rowdier and soon completely uncontrollable, terrifying the town with her strength and wit, as well as her newfound imaginary friends, though she assured everyone she met that she was simply deeply religious. After all, she too was caught in the fire that killed her sister, and that night she met La Muerte and Xibalba as they came for Vanya’s soul, smiling at her through the flames. Now, she prays to them nearly every day, for safety and for love, but her perceived insanity eventually lands her in a convent to be made into a good Christian girl, her father Reginald hoping that she could eventually become a good wife to Luther one day. (Allison, naturally, rolled her eyes at such a stupid notion. She’ll be the troublesome wife of anyone she damn well pleases.) At the Catholic school, however, Allison only becomes more of a rebel, learning how to wield a sword as well as a pen. She becomes a fearsome warrior and knowledgeable woman, breaking the rules to fall in love with a girl named Natalie at the school, as well as to challenge the virtues of the nunrey’s priest, Patrick. Eventually Patrick grows tired of her shenanigans and sends Allison back home, where she continues to write to Natalie and fight back against the oppressive systems around her. Back home, she begins to fall for both of the boys she once knew, but hates how they fight over her, as if she’s some prize to be won. But when Natalie dies of pneumonia, Allison stashes all of her letters in her dresser and accepts Luther’s stuttered proposal out of grief, the fight snuffed out of her like the flame from a candle.
(Monolo) Ray grew up alongside Sissy, his foster sister, in the town’s youth hostel. She was Vanya’s best friend until her death, and three years later succumbed to smallpox, leaving Ray quiet and withdrawn without her. (Luckily, her and Vanya’s bullies, Leonard and Carl, died in a carriage accident, getting what they deserved.) Sissy and Vanya visit on every Day of the Dead though, and it brings Ray and Allison closer together, the two of them becoming a force against the world, and Ray falls in love with her easily from there. She is his light in the dark, and when she goes out, everything in Ray’s life starts to unravel. His foster brother Dave is sent off to war, becoming deeply religious as he develops an intimate relationship with the god of sin. But Dave is sent home in a coffin, and Ray receives his remains. Though not a particularly religious man, Ray buries his brother beneath the marigolds as per tradition and is visited by Klaus personally, who tells him that he hopes to never see Dave again because if he did, it would mean he had been forgotten. Understanding the threat for what it is, Ray accepts Klaus’ favor despite his disagreement with his values, believing in peace and love instead of war and hate. A brilliant negotiator, Ray becomes known for his gentle temperament and soft music, often playing the guitar deep into the sunset. Homeless and wandering, Luther is the only constant left in his life, and as time moves on, so too does Ray from Allison, eventually letting her go when she returns, realizing slowly that she is no longer the person haunting his dreams.
(Joaquin) Luther grew up with Pogo, his maybe-father. He inherited his gentle nature from their time together, passing it on to everyone he meets. Though good friends with Vanya from a young age, he was unable to save her from the fire, persuading Ray and Allison to stay back as well when they wanted to run back in for her. That night he was visited by La Muerte, who chastised him for not doing all he could to save such a little girl. A child himself, Luther resented this angry god, choosing to leave behind acceptable religion for the wayward path of worshipping Xibalba. Losing Allison only pushed him further away from La Muerte’s kind morals, and eventually he simply gave into Xibalba’s allure completely, his faith being one of the driving factors behind his and Ray’s conflict. Adopted by Reginald after Allison’s departure, he trained to become one of the greatest warriors in all of history, Xibalba’s unwavering favor winning him countless battles. But while his heroism earns him mansions and money, Ray’s heart remains like stone to him, rebelling against violence and preferring peace, which Luther cannot keep. When the town goes to war with the bandits, only a sacrifice can keep them alive, and Luther tries to take his chance. Instead, however, Allison pushes him out of the way with a kiss, shoving him stumbling back into Ray’s tired arms. Devastated at the loss of the woman he’s spent his entire life loving, Luther drops to his knees and offers up his soul to Xibalba and La Muerte, telling them to use it to rebuild the burned bridge between their lands. Alas, Xibalba refuses, unwilling to kill such a loyal servant, but La Muerte gives Luther his favor, finally, telling him that he shall see Allison again, do not despair. In mourning, Ray and Luther live on, but come their first visit from Allison on the Day of the Dead, they are married in a quiet midnight ceremony, Allison’s marigolds raining over them.
(The Sword Twins) Five grew up long ago, trapped in a cold and dark mansion with no one but the abusive Handler for company. She kept him in dresses, refusing to accept him as a boy, and he spent most of his prisoner days with Dolores, a statue in the Handler’s garden. Eventually, the Handler grows bored of having such a defiant servant and tries to kill Five, but she underestimates all of the impulses she’s trained into him for thirteen years, leaving her with an axe through her head and Five a free man. Still, he stays within the mansion’s walls for forty-five years, too afraid to brave the world outside, Dolores his only company. On his forty-fifth birthday, Xibalba and La Muerte come for him with an offer of family and freedom. Insane and drunk, Five agrees, and his new parents restore him to his thirteenth body and let him be, Dolores kept in the Land of the Remembered just in case Five should ever need her again. But he seems happy now, flitting between earth and the lands, Lila wrapped around his shoulders with sass and snark on his lips. With a devilish grin, he kills rotten souls for his mother and saves sweet ones for his father, the most brilliant warrior there’s ever been following the loosest morals there ever were too. Fascinated by the world and his power over it, Five is an enigma without end, the adopted child of gods and, of course, a little shit.
(Xibalba) Klaus rules the Land of Forgotten, and he fucking hates it. He knows he’s there because he’s only ever loved the dead, and there’s no one to remember him, but fuck, he loved somebody alive once. Diego. Good fucking lord, he loved Diego. Their story went something like this: Klaus was a thief and a murderer, a drug addict and a mad hatter. Diego was the country’s decorated hero, a vigilante warrior who had damn near won wars all by himself. Though they met when Diego was hired to save a town from Klaus’ treachery, he instead fell in love with the bright young soul, and Klaus left with Diego’s heart as his only bounty. But it quickly became enough, and the two went on the run together, wild and free and in love. They kept their romance a secret by battling one another almost every day, but still they spent every night tangled around each other, their laughter loud and their eyes alight. But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and true love is no exception. One night, dancing across the rooftops under the moon, Klaus is shot mid-laugh, choking as he topples from the roof. Diego screams his name, diving to catch him in his arms, and they sit there trembling, tears in their eyes as the men of the village look on confusedly, watching as the monster that had terrorized them for months was cradled in the arms of their guardian angel. Klaus touched Diego’s cheek, smiling at his eyes, and Diego managed to choke out only his name before Klaus went limp in his arms. Diego fell apart into grief, and without thought slaughtered the entire village of people he had sworn to protect, burning all of their photographs and bodies so they could not be remembered, blinded in his rage. He was captured without a fight by rangers from the next town over, and spent a year in prison, mad in his mourning. He would not speak or look at anyone, simply existing as a body with no soul inside. After that year, his trial finally came, and he was hung on a crowded morning, staring at the sun with his first and last words in a year and forever: I’ll see you soon, mi amor. He reawakened on a bridge made of marigolds, between the lands, but only had a moment to focus on that before he caught sight of Klaus, head thrown back in laughter, draped in purple and white and blue and gold and looking as beautiful as he did the day Diego lost him. Beaming, Diego ran for him, the two lovers reunited in a heart-beating kiss in the middle of the bridge, only to feel the marigolds falling to the wind beneath them. They tried to hold on, but the air was too strong, and Klaus could only watch as warm, beautiful Diego was whisked away from him once more, into the Land of the Remembered as Klaus sunk into the Land of the Forgotten. Cursed to be La Muerte and Xibalba now that the old gods had perished, their pure souls were kept in halves, the two men unable to meet or touch on any day beyond the Day of the Dead. Devastated at the loss of his lover for a second time, Klaus delved back into sin, the demons of his life too much to handle without ambrosia and apples from Eden. His ghosts, who used to follow him when he was one of the living too, were beside him always, and he only sank deeper into himself as time went on. Angry at Klaus for letting himself be ruined, Diego snipes and bites at Klaus any chance he gets, leaving the true loves torn apart by morality, or rather, lack thereof. Klaus continues to spread a drop of his decimated soul into every pair of lovers he can find, bitter at the unfairness of his unhappy ending and determined to keep others from it as well. Though Five tries to push them back together, Klaus and Diego remain apart in both body and mind, as though their hearts still beat as one, their love is, forever, dead.
(La Muerte) Diego grew up with his mother Grace in a small little town, a deadpan and angry soul. He spent most of his days alone, praying to La Muerte and training under Grace’s arm to become a brilliant warrior. His knives and bullets were said to move however he wished, as if by magic, and as he grew, his eyes began to twinkle and his nature became gentler and more trusting. On his eighteenth birthday his mother confessed that she herself was La Muerte, Xibalba being a bitter old man named Reginald, and advised him to enjoy life while he could, reasoning that both she and Reginald were not long for this world and that their thrones would both fall to the purest souls soon. Sure enough, her human body soon passed away, but he could still feel her soul in the world, and kept her rosary with him at all times, travelling the country in hopes of spreading her kindness and joy. (Unfortunately, Reginald held onto his human body for as long as he could, for centuries, unable to let himself die even though his power had been long since cleansed from him.) Diego lived by a strict moral code, refusing to bend his ideals for anybody… that is, until Klaus came along, to whom he always used to say, I love you too much, with a fond smile, as if it was a bad thing. But sure enough, it turned out to be, as the lovers lost each other and themselves in the process. Now La Muerte himself, Diego abides by the rules of life and death and watches over the mortals his once beloved so childishly fucks with, miserable in his own kingdom of endless joy. His son Five makes the days better, often bringing him new reaped souls as gifts with their blood still on his teeth (Diego just pats his head and sighs; he’s very cute when he’s being murderous, as we all know), and he still prays to Grace, though he knows she is long gone from the world. Ironically enough for a god who relies on them, Diego has an unadulterated hatred of marigolds, refusing to keep any within his palace walls, the only place in the entire Land of the Remembered where marigolds cannot be found. He spends most of his days wandering aimlessly, conversing quietly with Lila and Eudora, who he grants their human forms temporarily to visit him. Though his family continues to beg for his reunion with Klaus, Diego remains alone, the two of them bickering and snarking all throughout their one day a year together, too angry to see past their tragedy to their blessings. Diego only agrees to the stupid wager in the first place because he sees the same earnest, pure love in Ray’s eyes for Allison and Luther as he himself to hold for Klaus. But the wager is called off when Allison dies and Ray and Luther marry, leaving Diego without reason to talk to Klaus again. It’s not until the Day of the Dead seven years after the whole disaster that Klaus finally risks taking his hand again. Blankly, sadly, Diego asks him, Why would you risk your immortality for this? as he knows that the gods of the two worlds cannot touch without the risk of throwing the entire world off-balance. Klaus shrugs. I love you too much, he answers, and Diego sobs, looking at him with glittering eyes as Klaus grins, tugging him in for a kiss and tangling their souls together for the first time in millennia, their hearts once again beating beneath their skeletal skin.
(The Candlemaker) Ben was born to - well, nobody knows. His only family is Klaus, who stands as his soulmate, the other half of him, and Ben had always seemed content with that, at least when he was alive. The purest soul there ever was, Ben fell to his death during a heist with Klaus, earning him an immortal role in the afterlife, from which he watched Klaus beat back his resulting fear of heights with Diego’s help, the two of them more in love than any humans they’d ever known. Ben read the Book of Life over and over again, hoping to find some sort of loophole, any sort of loophole, to get him back to earth to help his soulmate. He knew the story of Grace and Reginald, and it was a bloody, maddening, and tragic one, something Ben would never wish on his worst enemy, let alone his favorite person in the entire world. Knowing from handwritten letters from Grace that Klaus and Diego were destined to become the next Xibalba and La Muerte, the two of whom are doomed to be apart for all eternity, Ben tried more and more desperately to reach Klaus, trying to save him from such a horrific fate. Instead, Klaus fell earlier than expected, and Ben was left with both his and Diego’s black candles all burnt out, though they were once the brightest blazes anyone had ever seen. Helpless on the sidelines as Klaus and Diego broke apart slowly, Ben busied himself by harboring the newly deceased and helping them cross over, eventually falling in love with Jill, a mortal who he would often see when crossing between the worlds. She tried to kill herself to be with him, like the fools in love we all are, but humans cannot be with immortals, and so her candle remains half-lit, as she is half-alive and half-dead, guarding the doors to the afterlife without ever being allowed to enter them herself. Ben found Five, and nudged Klaus and Diego towards him, hating cruel humans more than anything in the world and doing everything he could to spite them. Only when Klaus and Diego allow themselves to love again does Ben finally move on, Jill’s soul harbored on to the heavens. Bursting into marigolds, Ben’s soul stretches across the ravine between the lands, acting as the bridge connecting Klaus and Diego’s hearts forevermore. (And they love him, they love him, they love him; my god, do they love him.)
(Dove) Eudora grew up in wartimes, a pirate on the high seas in a red sash with half her hair hacked off, her eyes smudged with kohl. Though she pillaged and plundered, she was a kind soul, and her goodness won her Diego’s constant favor. In return, she prayed to La Muerte every day, her only consistency the beaded rosary around her neck proclaiming him her master. With brilliant swordsmanship and a sharp tongue, Eudora’s reign as a pirate queen seemed as if it would never end, until suddenly it did - when she met Lila, docked in Mexico one day centuries ago. They fell fast, and they fell hard, but alas, their love story ended in tragedy much like Klaus and Diego’s, with their ship being blown to bits by French cannonballs. Badly wounded, Eudora passed out while treading water and fell to the sea, but Diego collected her soul with compassion, making her his second-in-command as a sign of respect for her eternal devotion. She now sits on his shoulder as a wrinkled and wisened dove, her beauty lost in the end of her life. She knows Diego only keeps her around because he pities her, because she reminds him of himself, but that’s not Eudora’s concern. She spends her days travelling back and forth between the lands, often meeting Lila on the broken bridge, and tells Diego of Klaus’ state of affairs, helping the two lovers communicate even as they are eternally apart. A judge of souls, Eudora reigns by Diego’s side, no longer a queen but close enough, I suppose.
(Snake) Lila became an orphan of the plague at barely four, and was raised within a convent, eventually becoming a nun herself despite her contempt for so-called god. She slowly came to worship Xibalba, delving into a life of sin under her sisters’ noses and eventually harboring a demon within her skin, standing as Xibalba’s most faithful servant. So of course it was only fate that she meet and fall in love with La Muerte’s own favorite, the lovely Eudora, who Lila followed to the ends of the earth on a pirate ship, the sun setting behind them. In deep purple robes and with glowing red eyes, Lila ruled the seas by her lover’s side, only to lose her to the raging waves. Grief-stricken and furious beyond all manner and reason, Lila takes the ghost of Five, her best friend, with her when she travels back to her convent, burning the church to the ground with herself inside, her body melting like tar. She awakens in the Land of the Forgotten, a snake around Xibalba’s shoulders, but she can truly have no regrets, remaining Klaus’ loyal friend just as Eudora remains Deigo’s, even if this means that they can never truly be together, together, ever again. (Such is the fate of ill-advised lovers.)

OC-Tober 2021, Day 5: "Throne"
OC/WIP: Tristan and friends from "Old Fantasy Novel Series That I Haven't Gotten Around to Renaming Yet"
Strap in, because I'm about to bare the stupidity of my teenage years.
So, around age fourteen, I started working on a series of fantasy novels. (Heck, I even wrote them out! Then tried to rewrite them, rework them, etc.) It was about a kid named Tristan, who lives with an abusive foster family and knows nothing of his birth parents. He's sucked into a magical world that's currently in a state of civil war, ever since the king's evil brother killed him, his wife and infant son. The weird magical medallion that Tristan has always had turns out to be a magical relic of this royal family, and will occasionally do Deus Ex Machina things, even though nobody except the true King of Fantasy Land should be able to use it. He also discovers and is able to use the royal family's magical sword, which is also supposed to be unusable to anyone but the true king.
Now...hold on, you're not gonna believe it...it turns out that Tristan is actually that infant prince who everyone thought was dead! Yeah, I know! Who could have seen that coming? Obviously nobody, until it was dramatically revealed at the end of the sixth book. I did plant some subtle clues though, like Tristan looking exactly like the dead king's portrait.
You can perhaps understand why, upon reaching adulthood, I decided to pursue other projects and put this one on indefinite hiatus.
But these characters still live rent-free in my brain, and every so often I think of how I might revive this into something not only readable, but maybe even decent and not the most obvious trash heap of clichés ever. So here's a brief summary of Tristan and his group of companions and vague ideas of what they'd be like in the revised version.
MAIN CHARACTERS
Tristan: The old Tristan was your "vaguely geeky and unpopular, mostly generic kid" sort of character; since he was supposed to eventually become a king, I did try to make him a good leader of his little group, mostly in the sense of being the diplomatic one when they fought. In the new version I want to both up his geekiness but also his charm, so we see that he's really popular at school and has a lot of friends.
One change that I think could be interesting is that Tristan also came to our world when he was a toddler rather than an infant; as such, he actually remembers the murder of his birth family, if only in vague and terrifying terms. Nobody knows his origin, but he's been in therapy long enough to believe that the "monsters" he remembers were surely ho-hum human murderers distorted by trauma, and anything that sounds like a castle or magic are also probably imaginary. He really, really would prefer to believe that, but the plot isn't going to let him.
When he finally winds up in Fantasy World The Name of Which I Need to Change, he is decidedly not going to want to take the throne. Whether or not he does anyway is undecided at this point.
Erasmus: Tristan's foster/adoptive brother (biological cousin in the old version), of approximately the same age. Timid and shy, he's both very close to Tristan and maybe a bit resentful at how much more outgoing and popular he is. There's a bit of irony there: Tristan comes off as happy and well-adjusted to most people, but "Raz" knows that Tristan also has a mysterious, traumatic past, which also means that Tristan can be at least a little vulnerable around him.
I think he's an albino, for reasons that relate the old version but I don't even want to get into right now. And hey, disability rep.
E(d)ric: In the new version he's probably, like...a football player or something? He's supposed to be a big guy and the best "normal" fighter. He's reserved and grouchy but extremely loyal to people he cares about. Reading this over, I feel like I need something to make him more interesting.
Cynthia: Hmm...in the old version she was a witch, but since I'm reimagining all of the main characters as being from our world, I'm not sure how that would carry over. Maybe she gains/has magic in the fantasy world for some reason? She's tough, sarcastic and smart. Erasmus has a crush on her. I swear she wasn't the only female character in the old version, but apparently she was the only one important enough for me to list here.
Pythian the magical snake, Bast(et?) the cat, That Baby Hippogriff Whose Name I Don't Even Remember: There were way too many team pets in the old version.
OTHERS
The Guide: Merlin knockoff. Actually, I think in my earliest draft he was Merlin, somehow, and I don't even know how fourteen-year-old me justified that. He may have been the one who sent Tristan to our world, but then stayed in Fantasy World to help fight the villains. Maybe he's more involved here? Hmm.
Jay: He was Tristan's younger foster brother in the old version (so his and Erasmus' here?), who witnessed him getting sucked into Fantasy World and wanted to figure out what the frick happened to him. I think that concept is interesting, but I'm not sure where it goes, exactly.
Connor: E(d)ric's younger brother. Looking back, pretty much everything I had planned for him in the old version was stupid or would work better for other characters. Not sure what to do with you, Connor. Maybe he's Jay's friend.

Why do you think MJ is more popular than Liz? Why was Laura's character pushed aside if people want more representation in marvel movies? Was she not interesting enough for us or was it the directors' fault?
Here are a few reasons, nonnie:
Fans: Fans were used to seeing Zendaya on their screens. They already loved her and thought highly of her so they gave her privilege over Laura. Some of them were not pleased with Laura being the lead, they wanted Zendaya to be the star of the movie. Some of them even started this rumor that Tom Holland hated Laura because they wanted ‘tomdaya’ to happen in real life. They didn’t like it when Tom got most of his Homecoming interviews with Laura (tbh I don’t know what were they expecting, Laura was the lead actress of the movie, it was right for her to get most of the interviews) so they started to micro analyze each of their interactions to ‘prove’ that Tom ‘hated’ her and preferred Zendaya. Let me tell you something about this, when you look at things under a microscope, you’ll find the things you want to see. If you look at the bigger picture, you’ll realize you were fooling yourself.
Fanservice: I think you and I both know that tomdaya had a lot to do with spideychelle. Thanks to Tom and Zendaya’s friendship, fans started to ship them in real life, and well, this is pretty normal, it happens with the majority of leads in movies (Zac Efron/Lily Collins, Gal Gadot/Chris Pine, etc). Fans do it constantly and on a daily basis. It gets bad when they don’t do it just for the fun of it and they start doing it with real intention. And this is what happened with them. They got popular just like septiplier, larry, and else. People started to get so invested that they created blogs, accs, and more to prove they were ‘dating’. Watts is a very smart individual and just like any other director, he took the more popular take to support his movie. The Russo brothers did this with irondad in infinity war and endgame. They also did this with stucky in the winter soldier and civil war.
Relatable character with y/n storyline: Everyone loves a narrative that makes them leave their own reality. People love the ‘I’m not like the other girls and guy notices that’ trope, the ‘boy finally notices the lonely girl’, the ‘angsty longing looks directed to this certain character and said character doesn’t notice’, etc. Everyone loves that. I would’ve loved spideychelle if they actually would've tried to give them a storyline on-screen. They only set up Michelle in this ship, she’s the one that was after him, noticing him, paying attention to him, and had a crush on him. Peter didn’t. He usually ignored her, brushed her off, or thought of her as the weird one (taken by Tom Holland’s statements, interviews, and novels). In FFH, she’s suddenly the girl he likes. It feels unfounded and rushed. But the point of this is that everyone loooves the love story that looks more interesting and mysterious. The one that allows people to fulfill their y/n fantasies.‘The lonely girl that thought her crush would never pay attention to her’, ‘The protagonist has a weak spot for the girl that has no friends’, you know the drill. Whereas with Liz, Peter stated from the beginning that she has been a long time crush because they’re both in the decathlon team together. There’s one thing that takes Liz out of people’s imaginary reach. She’s the popular girl with good A+ grades. Let’s be honest, not all of us were popular kids in high-school, and we can’t definitely relate to her much because real life is not a movie. We can’t always be the popular kid with multiple friends and amazing grades.
Michelle is relatable for almost everyone because she is the typical hipster tumblr girl lmao. She reads books in her free time, she loves being by herself, has little to no friends, she wears the freethinker clothes, she’s sarcastic, she notices things about Peter no one else does, and usually observes everything around her. And tbh, if the movie was realistic, I feel like everyone would already know Peter is spider-man because that boy is bad at hiding his identity. I’m surprised he endured this long lmao
There’s also the fact that she is supposed to pay homage to Mary-Jane Watson (the most popular love interest in Peter’s life in comics) and in this instance...lmao I already said that it was wrong not to give Zendaya the role of the real MJ. They were scared of the dudebros and renamed her Michelle Jones so it wouldn’t ‘ruin’ the character’s essence for some fans. It was wrong of them to do this.
The actress: As you know, Zendaya is a popular actress thanks to her merits in kid’s shows first and then different categories later. She’s a Disney actress, anyone who’s a Disney kid has the opportunity of becoming a very successful lead, part of this is because these actors formed part of some people’s childhood and they like to keep them close. Laura wasn’t a well-known actress before Homecoming, this movie opened doors for her and Zendaya.
And like you said, if people want representation they shouldn’t push aside the ones that are doing it. Especially because Laura Harrier wanted to stay in the franchise, however, when it comes to ships, people are blind. It happens.

In spite of what happened to her family and the people she has lost over the course of the years, Gaeul remains an unbelievable optimistic kind of girl and sees the world as something beautiful and filled with wonders and magic that goes beyond her understanding. There’s always so much more to experience and discover and learn and she thinks that it beats every bad happening in her life. Even though it wasn’t the case a couple of years ago after the loss of her parents, she’s definitely thankful that she is alive and that she is able to experience so much in her daily life.
angelica : where does your muse draw inspiration in life ? what motivates them ?
The world inspires her, and not only the world around her but also the worlds from the books she reads. Imaginary worlds, real worlds, all of them inspire her - but also the persons she meets whether they’re alive or fictional. For Gaeul, they all are a source of inspiration. As for her motivation, it’s also the world, and the wish to share her views of the many worlds in her head with others.
begonia : how cautious is your muse ? are they prone to noticing red flags , or paranoid to the point of untrusting most everyone ? why or why not ?
Gaeul isn’t one to be cautious at all. She’s far too curious and adventurous for her own good and that can obviously lead her to risky situations. I’d like to say that the older she gets, the less adventurous she is, but that’s not exactly true because she is thirsty for knowledge and for such experiences that take her breath away.
( I believe she’ll have different kind of experiences once she becomes a mother, though! )
chamomile : what is your muse likely to take away from a painful experience ? are they one to be haunted by adversity , or to use what they’ve gone through to become stronger ?
Painful experiences teach her as much as they haunt her. She’ll reflect on what happened and use it for the future but she’s also likely to think about it more times than necessary, overthink and get doubts and insecurities and fears from it. That’s why she distracts herself by reading so many books, because at least it quiets her mind for a little while.
edelweiss : what was the bravest moment in your muse’s life ? are they known to be courageous from then on ?
The bravest moment in Gaeul’s life was when she had to keep on living and being a bright young girl after her little brother passed away. Being by her parents’ side even though they were broken beyond repair, reminding them that she was still here, that they still had a daughter to care for, it was when she had to be the bravest. And her courage has definitely stemmed from that moment on, especially when she has then moved into her grandparents’ house for her parents weren’t able to take care of her anymore. Keeping this experience in the back of her mind at all times, but also the fact that there were hands to hold her when she needed it was kept her going during her difficult teenage years.
gladiolus : describe a moment from your muse’s life that they will never forget .
I’ll go with the first time she has stepped into the library that will then become her workplace. She was in her first year of middle school and for some reason she was unable to make friends easily. Perhaps it was because she looked closed off, or because she was always the nose in a big book, but she spent most of her time on her own whether it was at shcool or during her free time; she didn’t mind much because it felt comfortable like this. Gaeul didn’t want to be a burden for her grandparents, and living near Myungdeong she was often wandering around the market and the busy streets; until one day she just happened to see a couple of wooden doors, almost concealed in between two large buildings. Curious as ever, she clutched the book she had been reading against her chest and went to open the door: that’s when her life changed for the better, because it was an old, gorgeous library like the ones you can imagine in fantasy books/movies. Immediately, she marvelled at the wooden shelves, at the old scent that surrounded her and for the first time in a long, long time, a wide smile pulled at her mouth and lightened up her whole face. Almost as if she had finally found her real home.
heliotrope : does your muse believe in soulmates ?
Absolutely! Whether it’s platonic or romantic soulmates, she absolutely loves the idea that some people are just meant to be in each other’s life. It’s a heartwarming thought and she also believes that someone can have several soulmates in their life. There’s no limitations when it comes to soulmates, at least in Gaeul’s mind.
<holly : how strong is your muse’s sense of intuition ? are they aware of it ? do they ever fear that it is only paranoia ?
She’s pretty intuitive but isn’t completely aware of it. She does follow her guts a lot of times but sometimes will think that it’s simply her curiosity acting or just out of sheer luck.
hydrangea : how much does your muse value communication in their relationships with others ? are they prone to being misunderstood ?
Gaeul talks a lot and thinks communication is important, especially because she always has a lot going on in her mind and she wants to make sure that she is on the same page as the person she’s talking with. She tries not to let misunderstandings happen but sometimes it’s just inevitable and all she can do is try to communicate better to ease both heart and mind.
lavender : how easy is it to gain your muse’s trust ? once their trust is broken , how might one go about mending it ?
It’s very easy to gain Gaeul’s trust because she’s someone who likes people, who likes to hear and share stories. She can be incredibly friendly and always tries to remain optimistic and have a positive mindset no matter what happensㅡ and if that trust happens to be broken at some point, they honestly just have to talk it out to mend it. Gaeul will just accept it without a second thought because if the person made an effort then it means that they regret it and that they want to do better. There’s no reason to reject them in that case.
lotus : has your muse ever felt as though they’ve been reborn ? have they ever desired the feeling of a fresh start , or a better understanding of themself and/or the world around them ?
She hasn’t felt like she was reborn but she isn’t against the idea, it’s actually a thought that she finds to be lovely. And she’s had her fresh start, after the loss of her parents, Gaeul went to a trip around the world to find herself, to heal her broken heart, and to meet new people. Not only was it healing but it was also eye-opening about how many people were constantly struggling on a daily basis but also trying their best no matter what. It gave her the courage to come back to Seoul and to stop running away from the pain she had attempted to ignore all this time.
pansy : does your muse often reflect on their own actions ? do they ever think a lot about the past , and what they could have done differently ?
It isn’t rare for Gaeul to be caught in the past. Her memories, her past actions and experiences are often what drives her to keep moving forward. She knows that it’s pointless to think of what ifs, but she simply can’t help herself. The past has built her into the woman that she is in the present and she cannot stop herself from looking back from often than necessary. And the past, for Gaeul, can be as far as when she was a little girl, but also just the past day.
peony : what would a ‘ happy life ’ look like in your muse’s eyes ?
A happy life for Gaeul would be a life where she has her own family (probably several kids coughs) and they’re living in a house close to the countryside but also close enough to the city so she can go to work. Ideally, she’d be a writer with some published books since it’s a longtime dream she has yet to make come true, but what truly matters to her is to have a loving family of her own.
poppy : what comforts your muse ?
Books, her cats, writing, a rainy day, being at the library, Teddy.
rhododendron : is your muse receptive to warnings & advice given by others ?
Yes, quite. She believes that if she is warned about something or if someone is given her some advice then it must be for a reason and it would be rude to ignore them and not take their words into account. It doesn’t mean that she’ll entirely follow them, but she’ll still keep them in mind.
rose : how much does your muse value other people ? do they wish to have many friends , lovers , and/or associates ? are they an easy person to love ?
Gaeul does value other people, especially if they become a part of her life. And she is also pretty aware that every life, whether she knows them or not, is important on this planet. However, she doesn’t seek to have many people in her life, she’s happy with just having a small group of friends, with having just one lover. The number of people she has in her life doesn’t define who she is as a person, after all. Regardless, she is easy to love, she is lovable and endearing, and she also loves easily despite the risks of getting hurt in the way.
salvia : is your muse possessive over people or things that matter a lot to them ? how do they express that possessiveness , or lack thereof ?
I can’t say that she is very possessive. She knows that people come and go, and the same applies to things. However, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t care or that she doesn’t feel even a bit of possessiveness because she does. I’d say she’d express it in subtle ways, in ways she wouldn’t be even aware of: if it’s over someone, I can see it in questions she’d ask the other, in expressing some of her concerns and probably in being a bit more touchy than usual without overstepping her boundaries.
sunflower : what brings your muse the most joy in life ?
Being alive. Feeling the warmth of the sun on her skin. Reading a book on her couch or in her bed and having her cat curled up on her lap or close to her. Loving someone who returns her feelings.
willow : how does your muse handle sadness & depression ?
Not well, obviously as it led her to leave everything behind to go on a trip around the world by herself. She tends to close off and retreat into where she feels the safest, aka in the world of books. And it might take a while before she comes out of it feeling better.

So... an imaginary episode of the 1983 D&D cartoon...
It’s a Meta episode.
The kids wake up to their average normal everyday lives. Nothing weird or anything. Have breakfast, do a few chores, say good morning to their parents, head out to school, etc. Normal shit.
While at school they kinda bump into each other a lot though and they get a weird vibe off of the others. But... why? I mean, they know of these other kids, some are friends-ish with others but they’re not particularly close? Bobby is Sheila’s kid brother, Diana is that girl who does gymnastics after school, Presto’s that dork who gets picked on for his crappy card tricks, Hank does sports or something, Eric is the haughty son of that CEO they keep seeing on magazines at the grocery store. They’re not really super close friends, they have nothing in common really but... they get a feeling from each other?
On top of that they occasionally get a strange flash memory in their heads.
-Diana is about to do a cool gymnastic demonstration for a new team member at the request of the teacher. Halfway through she bungles it when a memory of being surrounded by monsters flashes in her head. Her coach approaches to see if she’s okay and on instinct kicks the teacher’s feet out from underneath them, easily taking them to the floor without hesitation before realizing what she had done.
-A card trick goes array in the lunchroom causing a bully to be wearing his lunch and turn his sights on Presto. The bullies cap fall onto Prestos head prior and he finds himself impulsively start a rhyme about taking out the ugly fucker, reaching into that hat and pulling out-- nothing? What did he think that was actually going to do? I’m mean... he did insult the bully more so I guess it’s gonna get him punched?
-Eric happens to have lunch period with Presto and sees the whole thing go down as he is walking by to his usual table of more affluent “Friends”. Heh... kid’s gonna get beaten up. That’s what happens when you insult your bullies mom or whatever. Not Erics problem. He doesn’t even know this kid. Does seem Familiar though. The bully swings his fist back to hit that kid with glasses and Eric feels utter terror, like life or death fight or flight terror and before he even realizes he’s moved he finds himself between Presto and the bully, lunch tray blocking the fist and bully now wearing more lunch than before. Crap... what the fuck did he just do?!?! And why?!
(Not gonna come up with one for everyone I’m tired you guys decide what happens to Hank, Sheila and Bobby)
-----------------------------------------------------
At this point the audience knows somethings wrong so why hide it from THEM anymore? It turns out through an untold adventure before the episode began some bullshit happened and the kids find themselves trapped in some kind of magic sleep caused by this dream master monster wizard or something I don’t care what he is. I’m vague on this part but He’s either
-gonna sell the kids to Venger so it’s like that time Dungeon Master got captured and took a nap and that very homosexual fairy showed up and helped the kids save him.
-OR He’s already working for Venger and they’re picking the kids brain for something while in the magic dream sleep. Like their Untold quest prior to the ep. involves them hiding their weapons so venger can’t get them and the Dream wizard guy is keeping their brains loosey goosey and complacent while he searches through them for the weapons locations or something like that.
-OR He’s working for Venger and the kids are hostages to convince DM to turn himself over and he’s having his own B plot of the good of the realm vs the good of these kids?
“Ehhhhhh....... Nah! I’m sure they got this... Not the first set of kids I ruined.”
-OR He’s gonna rewrite their brains and turn them evil so they work for Venger and he can sick them on DM AND Tiamat! “If you can’t beat them, take over their brains and recruit them!“ (I like this one but that’s just cuz I like Mind control trope....)
-OR any combination of the above. It really doesn’t matter you know he’s gonna fuck up.
Anyway Mr.Dream over here is having a little trouble because DMs disciples COULD realize they’re dreaming and shock them selves awake and fuck up the Evil Plan (tm) And unfortunately the kids having flashbacks, vibes, and triggers is not on the menu, so he needs to come up with an in-universe explanation for the kids in the dream to be having these funky feels so they don’t question the funkitude going on...
---------------------------------------------------
Back in dream-school DMs Disciples are a little gonked up over the whole ptsd trigger flashbacks they’re having, some of which involve kids that they have almost no connection to! But before they can ponder further they notice the time, or their watch or alarm or someone mentioning the time alerts them. They have a THING to get to! They pack up their stuff and we follow a POV character (Probably Hank) as he makes his way to a specific classroom, or he leaves the school and heads home or to another house. Matters not. As he arrives he opens up the door and there everybody is!
Oh yeah! That’s how they all know each other! They play a fantasy tabletop rpg board game together! [Good idea Mr.Dream! Now they can explain away Their vibes!] Diana even considers maybe she should quit playing with them if it’s so immersive that it’s effecting her normal everyday life. But it atleast explains where they got these random memories from! It’s just their campaign! They sit down and shoot the shit and start playing.
“What sort of adventure are we doing this time?”
*They begin to play out one of the episodes... Let’s do the Prison without Walls one for example... but things aren’t... right*
*Rolls dice* Presto DMing: “17! Hank lets his arrow fly, piercing through the chest of the shambling monster! It trumpets in pain before laying in silence! The band of adventurers has defeated the monster and the gnome village has been Saved!”
Hank has a flash back... this... isn’t right...
Hank: “No... no I didn’t fire my arrow! That Monster was Lukyan!” Hank explains.
Presto protests. “But Hank... there was no Lukyan in this campaign???”
Eric: “He’s probably just salty over the last time we played when he opened that box and let all the evil out-- wait...” Bobby: “Didn’t YOU open that box Eric?”
Eric: “... The evil box or Zinn’s box?”
Presto: “It was Zandora’s box. Where’d Zinn come from?”
Diana: “Zinn was that Queen Eric Married when that Sorlarz monster poisoned Bobby and we slayed him for the antidote!”
Sheila: “SORLARZ?! No Bobby was Poisoned buy the turtle dragon! Sorlarz was a cursed king!”
Eric: “A WHAT?!”
Their bickering becomes too much for Hank and enough reminders of everything wrong with their adventures triggers his memory and slams his firsts on the table silencing everyone else.
Hank: “ENOUGH!!!!” They stare at him in shock and silence. Hank was never angry like this... not that they knew him well enough... “We-- Guys we... never made it home... We’re still in the realm!”
This triggers the kids memories and they realize just how wrong everything is and that all of these vibes they’ve been having are their REAL memories.
They are commended by Mr.Dream who fucked up because he’s very bad at keeping the continuity of his own story down but chastised because it would have been so much easier for them if they just stayed unaware and complacent. Now the dream world is turning against them and they need to figure out a way to wake up. But where better to hide the end of the dream than at the beginign of the adventure: At the Amusement park.

(PAUL MESCAL, CIS MALE) - Have you seen HUGO RAFFERTY? HUGHIE is in HIS JUNIOR year. The BIOLOGY (PRE-MED) MAJOR is 21 years old & is a LIBRA. People say HE is HARD WORKING, COOPERATIVE, INSECURE and UPTIGHT. Rumors say they’re a member of HASTINGS. I heard from the gossip blog that HE PLANTED DRUGS ON HIS BROTHER, SO HE WOULD GET IN TROUBLE WITH THE POLICE AND LOSE THEIR FATHER’S RESPECT.
tw: drug mention, death mention
hugo was a born and bred texas boy. he was the youngest child of lucy and lawrence rafferty. he had two older brothers (lawson and lucas). he looked up to them growing up until it became evident his father favored lawson.
his father had created an oil empire. the other oil companies bowed down to his might. he needed the perfect son to take over the business when he passed, so lawson became his prodigy. he accompanied him to business meetings and on every business trip. they ate lunch together and watched movies together.
lucas took after their mother. he was sweet-tempered, but spineless. neither of them would dare defy the patriarch. lucas was coddled and given everything he ever wished for.
that left hugo with nothing. he wasn’t the favorite. he was barely a blip on his parents rader. lawrence and lucy agreed it would be best if they had three bouncing baby boys – the picture of the perfect american family. the boys were well-groomed with their hair combed as they wore their little suits to family dinners. they played instrutments and sports and talked to their parents in a language other than english. his parents wanted hugo to be up to their standards, but after that, he was forgotten.
hugo wanted nothing more in his life than to win his father’s approval. he thought if he worked long enough or tried hard enough, he would earn his father’s love. instead of reading bedtime stories, he read business textbooks. instead of having an imaginary friend, he hosted pretend board meetings. he was a businessman in the making.
one day, he overheard lawrence tell lucas that he would love to see a surgeon or lawyer in the family. lawson was going to be a businessman, so he wanted his son to take a job as another well-respected professional. from that moment forward, hugo moved on to studying the sciences.
he hated them. thought they were boring and overly confusing, but he stuck with it. he would pull all-nighters or do whatever it took to pull out the high a in his class. he’d come home, a proud smile on his face, ready to brag to his parents, but they barely spared him a glance, distracted by the older rafferty children. this spurred him to keep working, to achieve something they would be proud of.
he cracked. he reached his breaking point because nothing he ever did was enough. he had this yearning to be the star child, the one his parents loved and doted on, but it felt like he was grasping for air. he talked to his friend, who talked to his friend, who talked to his friend who knew a drug dealer. like everything, he had to go big or go home. he bought black tar heroin, and planted it on his brother. he dropped an anonymous tip to the police and lucas was arrested. lawson was untouchable, but at least hugo could make it so he was next in line.
of course, lucas was bailed out, but he shamed the family, was a disgrace to their father, a disgrace to the rafferty name. now, hugo got more attention but not as much as he craved.
as he graduated high school, hugo walked across the stage and his smile faltered. for a moment, he lost all sense of purpose. he didn’t know what he was doing or why he was doing it. it was all pointless. but in a flash, he smiled as he accepted his diploma and he smiled through his valedictorian speech, but his heart was racing the entire time.
hugo is a nice guy. he is always trying to do the right thing and (usually) be morally upstanding. all he wants is to make his parents proud so he works as hard as humanly possible. he tries to see everyone as his equals, but he gets annoyed when he feels people are prioritizing partying over schoolwork, or generally have different priorities than him. he keeps working to cover up the fact that he has no real ambition in life. he has always made choices according to what he thinks his family will like, so he doesn’t know what he likes
HEADCANNONS
surprise, surprise his dad went to yates so he went to yates
literally hates biology. really struggled in school at first because he was so used to being the best, and now everyone is good and he’s not even passionate about what he’s learning. the thought of him getting anything below a 90 doesn’t sit well with him, so he takes advantage of every resource he can
can count the number of parties he’s been to on one hand. has always seen them as distractions and thinks his father would disapprove
feels guilty about what he did to his brother, but not so guilty because honestly no real consequences came from it. no one found out it was him though, and he’d like to keep it that way
struggling more and more as he is away from his family and feels less pressure to impress them. this makes him worried because he’s so directionless, so he throws himself into his work even more
HATES to be called hughie!! his brothers would say it in a condscending manner (emphazing he is the odd one out with an h name)
never been in a real relationship. he would go out with girls with well-known families in an attempt to impress his father and then break it off when that didn’t work. has never been on more than three dates with anyone
(tw: homophobia mention) bisexual but doesn’t really know. his father has very traditional values of dating and what it means to be a family, so he’s only ever thought about dating girls
WANTED CONNECTIONS
dissolve: someone who hugo really liked, maybe even loved. someone hugo didn’t think his father would approval of. it was a ‘will they, won’t they’ situation, but he was too scared to make a move. he ended the friendship for some petty reason, but he still aches for this person in his life.
being so normal: someone he used to be close with. they understood each other and brought out the best in each other. but your muse changed, and hugo feels like he doesn’t recognize them anymore.
the dark of the matinee: someone who is very different from him – wild, doesn’t care about expectations, etc. someone who he has managed to click with despite these differences. they try to get him to become more relaxed, though he is resistant to this.
we have to move on: a one night stand – hugo’s first and only. it was a moment of weakness, when he was feeling down and like he’d never be good enough. now he can’t stop seeing this muse. it’s awkward because he wants to pretend it never happened, but that seems to be impossible.
i’m down for brainstorming as well as things like friends, exs, enemies, someone his family is fond of, etc!!

It’s 6:22AM, but sadly that’s become the norm for me this year. If you could change the design on the American flag, how would it look? I’ll leave it the way it is. Why do you believe children like stuffed animals? Because they're soft and cuddly. <<< Would you rather die or have ten random strangers die? Wtf. Do you believe nuclear weapons should be eliminated? Absolutely. Education? What about it? I think it’s very important if that’s what you mean. Slavery? Of course not! Do you deliberately cause physical harm to yourself? In a way I have since I don’t take care of myself like I should. I’ve neglected and ignored things I shouldn’t have. Are definitions for losers? No?? We need to know the meaning of words... Summarize yourself in one word. Blah. Do you have any pets? I have a doggo! Ever had a blood transfusion? I’ve had a few. Who was your first crush? This kid named Philip when I was in the 3rd grade. When did you have it? Oh. ^^^ What's your earliest memory? Preschool memories come to mind first. Are you listening to anything right now? Yeah, an ASMR video. Are you a good writer? People have said that I am, *shrug* Are you physically disabled in any way? Yes, I’m a paraplegic. Would you rather lose an arm or a leg? I guess a leg out of the two. Our Secret
Part III: Memories
Genre: drama, romance Rating: PG-13 Group: Monsta X
Summary & Disclaimer here
Light beams flashed, crowds screamed, and the KARD members danced powerfully to their music. It wasn’t often that Soo-ah went to concerts, and K-pop concerts always blew her mind. There was so much going on, like introductions, singing their own songs, singing covers, having dance breaks, etc. She loudly cheered for the four members, proud to know them personally.
As the lights went dark and the music changed, Soo-ah held her breath. Maybe she could handle it. Maybe she could stay.
But as soon as their hit song Dramarama started to play, fans started chanting the names of each member. And she could not stay a single moment to hear the rest. She turned to Moo-hyuk and yelled in his ear, “바람좀 쐬고… 콘서트가 거의 다 끝나가면 올게.” (Translation: “I’m going to get some fresh air… and I’ll come back when the concert is almost over.”)
Moo-hyuk looked over at her with worry, but she waved him off before hopping over others to get out. As soon as she closed the doors to the concert, she breathed a sigh of relief. It was as if a weight was lifted off her shoulders and the pit in her stomach magically dispersed into nothing.
She walked around the hallways of the venue for a while, mindlessly walking but also trying to block out the faint sounds coming from the concert hall. She hadn’t kept track of how much time had passed, but when she heard the crowds chanting, she could tell they were chanting for an encore song and that the concert was nearing the end. As Soo-ah made her way slowly back to the concert hall, she found herself walking into Esther and Oli, who had just come out of the bathroom. Shit.
Spinning on her heels fast, Soo-ah tried to turn away from the two and walk away, but a small pair of hands latched onto her arm.
“Oli!! Don’t.” Esther pulled her daughter back. When Soo-ah started to walk away again, Esther asked, “Are you just going to keep pretending you’re not the one who scarred my brother’s career a couple of years ago?”
What--! Scarred? Pretending? Her choice of words ignited a fire in Soo-ah, and she turned back around to face them. Ignoring Esther’s question, she walked up to Oli, who looked up brightly at her. Leaning down, Soo-ah tucked a strand of hair behind Oli’s ear and asked, “Oli, do you remember what 언니 (I) said at that time?”
Oli nodded, “Honey 삼촌 (Uncle Honey) made--”
“Do you remember 언니 (I) said it’s our little secret?” She cut Oli off abruptly. “That a princess must know how to keep secrets to become queen? 언니 (I) hopes you are a good princess who can continue keeping the secret.” Soo-ah smiled softly to Oli, patting her cheek, as the young girl saluted to her.
Esther pulled her daughter away roughly and stood in front. With a confused expression, she asked, “What secret are you talking about? What did you tell Oli?!”
Rolling her eyes at Esther, Soo-ah ignored her question once again. Instead, she turned around again, all the while telling Esther, “As a mother of a daughter, I assure you, you will be disappointed in your brother if the same happened to Oli.”
“... Then tell me honestly: did you or did you not purposely approach Jooheon with impure intentions?” Esther asked hesitantly.
“Who will believe me even if I say I did not?”
With that, she swung open the door to the concert hall.
When she got back to her seat, she texted Moo-hyuk that she wanted to leave as soon as the concert was over. Even though he was right next to her, and even though he looked over at her worriedly, it took everything in her to not break down.
“Hey! 같이 저녁 먹자! 몬스타엑스 선배님들이랑 같이 먹기로 했어.” (Translation: “Let’s eat dinner together! It’s been decided we’ll have dinner with Monsta X[-sunbaenims].”) BM said, as he swung an arm around Moo-hyuk.
Alarmed by the offer, Soo-ah glanced at Moo-hyuk, who understood her worry. He smiled politely at BM and replied, “Sorry, 우린 이제 집에 가려고…” (Translation: “we’re just going to head home…”)
BM frowned. “그냥 저녁 먹는것도 안 돼?” (Translation: “You can’t even stay for dinner?”) He peeked at Soo-ah, with skeptical eyes, almost as if she was leashing Moo-hyuk from having dinner with him.
Without a moment to retort, Wonho clapped BM’s back. “안 와? 빨리 가자!” (Translation: “You not coming? Let’s hurry up and go!”) The two muscular guys stared at Moo-hyuk and Soo-ah with anticipation.
“아… 네… 그럼 저녁만 같이…” (Translation: “Oh… okay, then just dinner…”)
Soo-ah face palmed at Moo-hyuk’s response. She knew it was hard for him to refuse, and even more when he was being pressured by two big guys, but she had hoped he was strong at least for her. Shaking her head, she gave up as Moo-hyuk smiled awkwardly, throwing her a half-apologetic look.
As they made their way to KARD’s van, Soo-ah trudged at the back. Her feet wanted to take her elsewhere, if it weren’t for Moo-hyuk. Her mind wanted to run far away, and her heart wanted to be lulled to sleep.
“저기…” (Translation: “Hey…”)
The raspy low voice shook Soo-ah from her daze. She halted in her tracks and slowly turned to face the owner of the voice -- 아… 왜 너냐. (Translation: Ah… why is it you.)
Quickly, she hardened her gaze, as her eyes met Jooheon’s. He blinked quickly, and his hands were hidden in his sleeves, intertwined with each other to hide the possible shaking. He almost looked like an anxious gerbil, if it weren’t for his height that threw off the small animal vibes. She responded with silence, and she knew it made him more nervous.
Jooheon stammered, “ㅇ-어… 그게… 우-우리 아는 사..이죠?” (Translation: “U-uh… that… w-we know… each other, r-right?”)
“... 아니요.” (Translation: “...No.”) With the coldest voice she could use, Soo-ah lied. When she saw his mouth open for another question, she walked off coolly to the van, without so much a glance back to Jooheon.
“What’s wrong?”
Esther stared out her window while Jooheon drove to the dinner location. She glanced at the side-view mirror and saw Oli playing with her toys in the back seat. As she continued to stare out the window, she asked, “Do you remember what happened… that time, 2 years ago?”
“...” A silence settled between the two, before Jooheon quietly said, “Not really… but I don’t think I was forced like people said… but Starship didn’t let me say anything. About it.”
Just like she figured, but Esther pressed further. “So you don’t remember any details?”
“...내가 먼저 접근했다고 그러면 화낼거야?” (Translation: “... are you going to be mad if I say I approached [her] first?”) Jooheon quietly asked.
Eyes wide, Esther quickly turned to face him. “WHAT?! SHUT UP.” Her sudden loud voice startled all of them, including Oli, who looked at them curiously. Esther smiled at Oli before changing her expression to a glare towards Jooheon.
Jooheon grimaced as he slowly said, “I… 얼굴은 잘... 기억이 안 나… 기억 이 날 것 같을때… it’s fuzzy, you know?” (Translation: “I… I can’t remember her face… every time I think I’m going to remember… it’s fuzzy, you know?”)
“NO, I don’t know.” Esther snapped. When she saw his imaginary tail and ears droop, she sighed. “얼마나 취한거야…” (Translation: “How drunk were you…”)
“Uh…” Jooheon squinted at the traffic light in front of him. Esther gave him a side glance, knowing he was trying to avoid continuing the conversation. Quickly giving up on him, she turned around and shook Oli gently.
“Oli… won’t you tell Mommy the secret? What secret did that girl tell you?” Esther asked. But to no avail, as the young girl covered her mouth with her hands and shook her head.
Jooheon watched the interaction from the rearview mirror, as he waited for the light to turn green. Glancing at Esther, he asked, “What secret?”
“Um… well…” She began to tell Jooheon the conversation she had with Soo-ah, and what Soo-ah told Oli during the concert. As she told him Soo-ah’s last words to her, he frowned. It was an unreadable frown to Esther, but it didn’t go unnoticed by Oli as she observed Jooheon’s expression.
“제발 도망가지마. 용기가 많이 필요했고, 도망가서 모르는 척 하면 되게 힘들고 아플것 같아…” (Translation: “Please don’t run away. It took me a lot of courage, and it would be really painful if you run away and pretend like [this] never happened…”) Jooheon whispered, as he held onto her gaze with soft eyes.
*Sigh*
Soo-ah glared at Moo-hyuk, who turned away from her burning gaze so obviously. He pretended to listen attentively to I.M., who sat next to him, while Wonho and BM sought for Moo-hyuk’s attention across the table.
Dinner didn’t end with a farewell and a ride back home -- it led to a private bar for drinks with just the Monsta X members, KARD members and a select few managers from both agencies. Esther and Oli retired for the night to their hotel, and when Soo-ah tried to sneak out as well, Somin and Jiwoo asked her to stay to chat through the night with them. Not to mention, Hyun texted her that he’d beat her ass if she left Moo-hyuk drunk with BM.
She mentally cursed her best friend, since the only way Hyun would have found out was if Moo-hyuk reported to his own boyfriend that he would be late in coming home. And despite maneuvering her way to the girls of KARD, somehow she was plopped in between the wall and Wonho, at the end of the table. Sitting across from her was her worst nightmare, of course. Classic.
“내일 거기 갈까 -- 저번에 좋아했던 카페있었잖아.” (Translation: “Should we go there tomorrow? You know that cafe you liked last time.”) Moo-hyuk swooped in, attempting to save Soo-ah from the situation he created. He sat next to Jooheon, but basically treated him like air, which went unnoticed by everyone except the people involved.
Soo-ah deadpanned and replied monotonously. “그래, 그러자.” (Translation: “Yeah, let’s do that.”) She continued to look at Moo-hyuk, despite feeling the heated gaze from Jooheon. Signalling help through her eyes, she begged Moo-hyuk to continue talking. And yet… some omniscient being was out to get her and do everything opposite from what she wanted.
“아, 아까 말 하려다 못 했잖아요 -- 그래서, 요즘 어떤 운동하세요?” (Translation: “Oh yeah, you were going to say earlier but got interrupted -- so what kind of workout do you do these days?”) Wonho turned to Moo-hyuk, with eyes shining bright.
As soon as Moo-hyuk’s eyes left Soo-ah’s to face Wonho as well as a very excited BM, Soo-ah cursed him once more. He was distracted, and there was no way of inserting herself into a bro conversation about specific muscles and workout routines. Dropping her gaze down to the tabletop, she quietly sipped her water.
“다른 음료수 시킬까요?” (Translation: “Do you want me to order any other drinks?”)
Her eyes hardened at his voice -- the same velvet voice that whisked her away two years ago. She coldly replied, “괜찮아요.” (Translation: “I’m fine.”)
“...”
Silence sat uncomfortable between the two, as Jooheon continued to watch her, as if to catch a moment where her expression may change. But when Soo-ah insisted on her cold demeanor, he lowered his gaze to his beer glass before whispering, “미안해…” (Translation: “I’m sorry…”)

Legacies recap: Malivore's true nature is revealed (for real this time)!
And the other shoe dropped!
Julie Plec is a master of twists. On both The Vampires and The Originals, she proved she knew how to pull a fast one on the audience like no other. You thought you were watching one story, but then suddenly it would veer off into an unexpected direction (see: the Vampire Diaries season 1 finale, the sun-moon curse, and several others). So, going to into tonight’s episode, I should’ve known there was another Malivore twist waiting around the corner, but I didn’t and wasn’t prepared for the game-changing info-dump the hour unleashed on us. However, what made this episode stand out is that there were strong emotional character moments, too, in between all of the dense yet necessary exposition.
We pick up with MG’s mother telling Clarke to debrief Landon (read: interrogate him) before sending him into Malivore. Once she leaves, Clarke ignores her orders. In fact, he does the opposite and unties Landon because he wants to tell him a story. More specifically, he wants to reveal who Landon’s father is.
Spoiler alert: Malivore is actually Landon’s — and Clarke’s — father.
Once upon a time (a.k.a. a millennia ago), a vampire, werewolf, and witch — a triad, if you will — joined forces to create Malivore, a Gollum tasked with consuming a dragon that was terrorizing humans. Malivore’s hunger was insatiable, and he started devouring every monster he could find, erasing them from history in the process. Eventually, he grew sentient, realized he was alone, and decided to create a companion from mud, which I assume is what you would do if you were an immortal monster-eating monster.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t pleased with his mud-born children because they were sterile, which meant they couldn’t continue his legacy; Clarke was one of those “children” that Malivore tossed aside. Angry over being abandoned, Clarke teamed up with humans and witches to trap Malivore in his mud/pit form using three locks. Classic teenage rebellion!
Over the years, Clarke watched as the humans who caged Malivore essentially sold out and formed Triad Industries, which took on the responsibility of handling anything that went bump in the night (read: tossing monsters in Malivore). But corporations, as we all know, are prone to corruption. So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that Triad started throwing people it just didn’t like into the pit. Unbeknownst to Triad, Malivore was absorbing the human DNA. When Triad condemned Landon’s mom to the pit, he saved her, impregnated her with a magical human baby that could procreate, and spat her back out. And thus, Landon, our awesome Phoenix, was born.
Next: Assault on Salvatore School
Why is Clarke telling his brother all of this? Because he had a change of heart over the years. Now, Clarke believes freeing Malivore is the key to destroying Triad Industries; however, he needs Landon’s help because Landon is the only person who can find the third and final lock and free their father. And Landon agrees, but only because Clarke appeals to his desire for family and, more importantly, warns him that Triad poses a real danger to his friends.
While I wouldn’t rank this Malivore twist as high as, say, The Vampire Diaries’ Sun-Moon curse, I do think it’s pretty solid. It’s not too obvious, but it also doesn’t feel like it came out of nowhere. Furthermore, if Malivore becomes an antagonist after being freed, the ensuing conflict will have personal stakes because he is Landon’s father and that’ll put everyone in quite the pickle.
As I mentioned above, though, this episode wasn’t just about Landon learning about his past. “I’ll Tell You a Story” also had some really strong moments between the characters. The best one involved the fallout from Josie and Lizzie’s fight.
Obviously, Josie and Lizzie are still on the outs when the episode begins; however, Lizzie is trying her hardest to get back into her sister’s good graces. Josie, on the other hand, is focused on finding out what the merge is. As their feud goes on, Lizzie starts to spiral, but Josie ignores her because she hopes hitting rock bottom will force Lizzie to start taking her medicine again. Apparently, she stopped taking her meds while they were visiting their mother over break, and Josie believes that’s one of the reasons they ended up in this huge fight.
With some help from her aunt Freya, Hope discovers what the merge is and urges Alaric to tell his daughters about it now because Josie is close to figuring it out on her own. And cue the best the scene of the episode: Alaric giving his girls the lowdown on the merge. Alaric tearfully confesses that he never had the heart to tell them about it because he couldn’t admit there was something he couldn’t protect them from. Matt Davis’ truly heartbreaking performance made me forget all of the questions I have about Alaric’s age.
At the same time, Hope had her own heart-to-heart with an imaginary version of Landon, which was created using one of Emma’s therapy prisms. She confesses that she lied to him about his mother because the sight of him dead in the woods triggered this voice inside her head that shows up every time she loses someone (her mother, her father, her uncle, etc…) and tells her it’s her fault and she’s a cosmic mistake. “I guess I just wanted someone to think I’m worth staying for. I wanted you to stay because I love you,” she says. As Imaginary Landon points out, this is the first time she’s telling him she loves him and it’s not even him. But I kind of loved how this went down because it strikes the perfect balance between a classic high school moment and supernatural goofiness.
Imaginary Landon also leads Hope to another epiphany: There was something fishy about the voicemail Landon left for her and Alaric saying he went camping because he needed time to think. She plays the message for Roman, who uses his vampire hearing and helps her figure out that Triad has him. So, Hope assembles her super friends (the twins, MG, and Kaleb) to take the fight to Triad. Unfortunately, though, Triad is one step ahead of them. By that I mean, the evil company’s troop invades the Salvatore school with wooden stakes and presumably other nasty weapons to kill the supernatural students.
Get ready for the Battle for the Salvatore School.
Small town gossip:
Emma points out that the school’s purpose is growing and Alaric is equipped to handle it on his own. He initially rejects her concerns, so she decides to take a sabbatical as a way of proving that he needs help. Spoiler alert: This works, and Alaric apologizes to Dorian, who agrees to come back and help him run the school.
Elsewhere in the episode, Rafael’s mind continues to splinter as a result of the trauma he endures. Hope lends him a ring that’ll let him transform into a wolf on command, which may help him heal himself.
“I’m going to go full Wonder Woman.”
How much you want to bet that the witch who created Malivore was a Bennett witch?

okay dragon age followers this is some sage lore just for you
ok i posted this on twitter earlier actuallly but only like 4 of my friends care abt dragone age so... i just want to tell u abt this fanfic i might never finish writing but i still want to share it
when i was like 16 or whatever and writing fanfiction i started this dragon age bachelor au (which the idea? the concept? iconic... very good.... the execution? terrible i was not a great writer then) and the plot i had started off so corny.
basically my mary sue cousland noble girl (named cassandra/cass) didnt want to be in the competition for cailan’s bride. she wanted to fight and be epic and rebellious... she’s so sassy and doesn’t even have to try cailan just loves her because she’s so cool and great... but actually she falls in love with his younger brother alistair... and during the competition the two of them have an affair but she doesn’t purposefully lose bc that means she’d have to go back home and she couldn’t see alistair anymore + her family would be disappointed.
so she actually stays for awhile but then shit gets really serious and cailan starts liking her a little too much and gets possessive. so she and alistair actually plan to run away together and they have everything ready to go but cailan surprises everybody by picking his bride earlier than he was supposed to and he announces it to everyone. So there’s a few chapters where she’s kind of stuck waiting to be coronated or married idk the proper term im spitballing here.. giving up on the idea of running away but kind of scared of having a life w cailan because he keeps a close eye and tight grip on her. but alistair doesn’t want to give up and says he’d relinquish his right to the throne to be with her. and they talk abt all the places they could go together etc. and decide to try to run away again
so they run away but cailan catches on pretty fast and sends men after them which they suspected he might but not so soon so they aren’t really prepared. and alistair gets caught to be executed but cass gets chased further into a grey warden patrol and before the guards can reach her duncan, who knows who she is, has her throw on a disguise and when the guards question whether he’s seen her come this way he denies it. they get super sus and ask who cass in disguise is and he lies and says one of his new recruits, a servant sentenced to death or smthing like that. basically cass gets away but is desperate to save alistair
and duncan says he can’t afford to challenge the king directly because it would destroy the grey wardens’ neutrality and that he shouldn’t have even risked saving her. he asks her to explain what’s going on and when she does he gives her a choice to find her own way and risk getting caught again or become a grey warden to stay out of Cailan’s reach. she’s uncertain but duncan explains that he can sense a blight is coming and he shows her the plight of the sparse order in ferelden. she sleeps on it and says she’ll become a warden but asks that duncan bring them close to denerim on their way south to the wilds. he agrees that they have to go that way along the roads to trade but makes her promise not to do anything rash that would get the wardens into trouble/like revealing her identity so soon
at this point i considered having cass get discovered somehow in the city and to draw her out cailan announces alistair’s execution, which of course gets the people in an uproar because they love alistair he’s their golden prince of the common people but at this point cailan’s a little crazy having his king complex undermined by the woman he wanted 2 control and the brother who he thinks of as lesser than him.
but if i were to continue the fic would i really want alistair to die???? it’s so angsty.... but saving him would probably be very corny and it would be impossible to invoke the rite of conscription bc the wardens at that point can absolutely not afford to anger the crown again esp w a blight incoming and cailan would know that. ohhh but its such a fun idea..... i have to keep thinking on this...
anyways my original plan was to have alistair executed right in front of cass and cailan gets off on it and then tries to capture her but she gets away and groups up w the wardens again. then bc the events get carried out differently in this fic the blight actually lasts for years and in this time cass changes her identity within the wardens to keep her life a secret from everyone, even some of her fellow recruits/the ones who weren’t there when she joined. and towards the end when they finally get their chance to face the archdemon the final scene was just going to be a couple of new recruits whispering about the rumors they’ve heard of her and she’s tells them a vague thing abt love and loss or whatever the fuck then sacrifices herself to slay the archdemon but i also want her to kill cailan somehow..... so many threads 2 weave into this.... im sure if i started writing it again i’d find a way but... ugh for now it’ll just be my imaginary masterpiece

Normally, he’s dressed in neutral colors; He also is often wearing a button-up or jacket of some kind. There is a faint, ever-present shimmer to Os’ skin, making it clear that he isn’t human.
SUMMARY!
Oswald is an Imaginary Friend, and yes, he was in fact named after Oswald, the cartoon Octopus. However, he prefers to go by Os, when it comes to anyone but his Creator, Theo. He was imagined on a rainy day by a 6 year old Theo, who was missing his older brother— off training for the military. His original design was to take the place of a brother, but as Imaginary Friends sometimes do, he took on traits all his own. Quickly, he became the best thing that ever happened to Theo.
In a home full of kids older then his Creator, and adults unable to see him, Os was happy to spend all his time with his Creator; And at night, when the boy would settle into bed, he’d leave to roam the streets alone. There was also the occasional visit from Theo’s brother, which left the Figment to his own devices. He never minded that. It gave him time to ponder things. Time to be alone.
That was until the family decided to visit some bakery that Theo’s mom had been raving about for weeks. Os didn’t quite get the point at first, it looked just like any other bakery; smelled delicious like one, and then he saw her, Honest. She’d been sitting in a corner, feet taping to music he couldn't hear. He didn’t understand why this place was so magical to Theo’s mother, but he instantly understood why it would be for him. Oddly, this was the first time he’d ever seen another Imaginary Friend. There was no time wasted in befriending her; Soon enough, they were as close as peas in a pod.
Now that some time has passed, Theo is older and doesn’t really need Os anymore, but he still hangs around, if ever that changes. After all, that’s his Creator. He would never leave him, even if his existence were to become entirely unnecessary. Besides, Os has plenty to do on his own, like people watch in the park, and keep Honest out of trouble.
Os is fascinated by the human condition, he wants to learn everything about them. Although he has far less desire than Honest to be human, he does still wonder about what it would be like. Os is content being imaginary, and is always thinking up some new, fantastic thing. He is a gentle soul, reserved in nature, and requires time to himself to maintain well-being.
