Would you ever consider writing the conversation Anthony had with Benedict in his bedchamber? When he scolded Ben for being alone with Y/N?
the author would like to share that upon reading your message, they immediately said, out loud, to no one but for herself to hear, "that is a BRILLIANT idea." she offers many thanks for your idea and your generosity in sharing it. <3

i hate accidents: a drabble
femme!reader x benedict bridgerton, femme!reader & the bridgerton family, femme!reader & penelope featherington
summary:  the adventures of a working class femme who befriends a fellow writer, a boisterous family, and a bewitching second eldest son
sections:  I. the beginning / II. the between / III. the ball
Tumblr media
y/n:  bipoc, she/her, afab, nonbinary femme, queer, working class, of immigrant parents
content warnings:  brief description of grief from losing a parent
word count:  623
author’s note:  the character of y/n, whilst heavily talked about, does not appear in this drabble. the author hopes you enjoy these bickering brothers~
𝄆 ⚘ ✸ ✕ ✸ ⚘ 𝄇
anthony turns towards him, quiet fury simmering in his eyes.
"brother," begins benedict, "i—"
"have you lost your fucking mind!" booms anthony.
"if you just let me explain—"
"have you compromised y/n?"
"what!"
"i said!  have you compromised y/n!"
"how can you even insinuate that!  of course i have not!"
"and why should i trust what you say?"
"because i am your brother!"
"precisely!  you are my brother!  you lie to me as naturally as you breathe!"
that is something, benedict admits to himself, i cannot deny.
"well!  i have no reason to lie now!" he declares aloud.
"and you expect me to believe that?  when i saw your mouth and her mouth mere breaths away from one another?"
lightning shoots throughout benedict’s body and butterflies erupt in his stomach at the memory.  the two of you were, indeed, mere breaths away from—— from—
"see," anthony interrupts, "you have nothing to say.  are you finally admitting to your guilt?"
"we were discussing my art!  that is all!"
"i am not a fool, benedict!"
"you look like one!"
"and you act like one! alone! in your bedchamber! with a lady!  our friend!  how do you think our family will react when they hear of your impropriety?"
"you make it sound as if this were some, some— devious scheme!"
anthony shakes his head.
"brother, i know you are in love with y/n—"
it would have been kinder if anthony shot him point blank in his chest.
benedict gapes at him, but his brother merely responds with an expression that makes him feel like a naive child.
"benedict, please.  your affection for y/n is deeply apparent to everyone in this house. mother, kate, our siblings, the servants, penelope.  good god, francesca, daph, and hastings even know, and they are not even here. you," anthony states simply, "are in love."
"i have not said anything of the sort!"
"so what do you mean to say? that you do not love y/n?"
benedict freezes. he feels the swell of his heart and its collapsing all in a mere breath.
of course i do.  of course i love y/n.
he swallows.
"it matters not what i feel.  it matters what she deserves."
y/n deserves someone good.  someone who will not hurt her.  someone who is not me.
anthony’s face softens, and it would be an expression that would be kind if benedict didn’t feel as though he was on the receiving end of its pity.  still, it reassures him.  anthony’s gentleness seemed to have passed when their father had.  it seemed to no longer have existed as a possibility within him; and then kate entered their lives.  whenever he sees evidence of its restoration, benedict cannot help but feel gratitude—even, as in this moment, at the cost of his own pain.
anthony sighs.
"did you two have to be in your bedchamber?"
benedict rolls his eyes.
"this is where all my art is!  but it shan't happen again."
"oh, that i will make certain."
he furrows his eyebrows.
"what is that supposed to mean?"
"did you truly think i would let you get away with this indiscretion?  you have completely disgraced y/n!"
"nothing!  happened!"
"bedchamber!  together!  ALONE!" anthony checks his pocket watch and, with its closing, resumes a dignified composure.  "i am done with this conversation.  we have kept y/n waiting long enough.  we must go to her promptly, offer our deepest apologies, and ensure that she is safe and well after this event.  we will be most fortunate, indeed, if she chooses to absolve us from your transgression."
benedict puts his hands over his face.  of all the people in the world, why did his elder brother have to be anthony bridgerton?

Hi sherlock, have you watched the Hobbit trilogy? Do you like it? I'm planning my weekend movie marathon. Thanks mate!
Hello.
I am not a fan of fantasy stories because they’re generally not grounded in science; they rely too much on magic and other absurd concepts. I did watch the trailers and instantly regretted it when I saw Elves, wizards, Halflings, and—most ridiculous of all—a TALKING DRAGON! So, no, I haven’t watched The Hobbit.
I must admit, the main character—the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins—reminded me a lot of someone I know.

(Okay I wasnt going to post this but im actually pissed off.)
((TW INFERTILITY))
Dear Bridgerton fans who are unreasonably angry at Michael being Micheala in the new season,
You still have the book.
Let me bring up points that I've seen in arguments online:
1- "But her story is about infertility! Putting her with a woman changes everything!"
Queer women struggle with infertility too, in fact it can be very difficult for lesbians who wish to start families of their own as not everyone is able to adopt or find a sperm donor, and even if a sperm donor is found THEY CAN STILL HAVE INFERTILITY ISSUES.
Let me list off romance books that deal with cishet women and their infertility issues below-
Untamed Rose, Scandalous Mistress by Bronwyn Scott
The Devil in Disguise by Lisa Kleypas
The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
Thief of Shadows by Elizabeth Hoyt
What's Left of Me by Kristen Granata
Lord and Lady Spy by Shana Galen (this one is regency too)
A Secret Sorrow by Karen Van Der Zees
And many more if you google I just dont have all day.
(Extra point, in many of these books the women do not stay infertile and have a miracle baby...not only do many cishet women never get their miracle baby but lesbian couples literally cannot concieve)
And now let me list of books that deal with Lesbian women and their fertility issues-
.....
OH WAIT I COULDNT FIND A SINGLE ONE!!
This leads me to my next point.
2- Bridgerton is a love letter to minorities in romance.
As someone who is south asian myself, I have seen how western beauty standards and racism has treated women in our culture, literally go online and search up "which race would you not date" its disgusting.
I grew up only seeing white women be the desirable one in romances as did many others, you know what changed this for me?
Kate Sharma.
The international audience for Bridgerton especially with brown women of South Asian descent grew TREMENDOUSLY. We had a woman like us portrayed positively and seen as desirable, you guys genuinely do not understand how many brown women watch this show because of season 2.
If we had Kate, WHY should Lesbians struggling with infertility and Black Lesbians not have Francesca and Micheala.
3- "It should have been Eloise and Cressida!"
Why? Because Eloise is a loud mouthed feminist and Cressida is a mean blonde and they shared an understanding? Because theyre both white?
While I do want Eloise to be queer as well just think about that for a moment, while lesbian representation is scarce these days it is even scarcer for Lesbians who do not fit the norm...the mostly white, neurotypical, skinny, cis norm.
Genuinely think about how many times ypu have seen these tropes in wlw fiction, like sit and think about it.
Such as Black lesbians for example, you all are aware they exist right?
I want to reccomend this video by a sunny book nook which talks about how lesbians in a VAST MAJORITY of lesbian romance novels arent really...allowed to be complex characters and it would be some FANTASTIC insight for some of yall
youtube
In conclusion, you are allowed to miss Michael, but don't you dare say this takes away from her story, as it ties into the very aim of the show.
Thank you for reading.

Heyy, i have a request for you! I was wondering if you could write a Benedict Bridgerton x reader fic where reader is married off to her father's old, repugnant friend but like before she does, she asks benedict to have sex with her so she can experience her first time with someone her own age that like doesn't make her feel ill which then devolves into them trying their hardest to make a baby so she doesn't get pregnant by the other man?
Obviously if the guy is old, he dies and Benedict is proposing marriage within seconds of the end of the appropriate mourning time. (Maybe Colin or Anthony ask him if he'll be okay with being a father to a child that's not his and he sheepishly admits what they did?)
It's weird i know but it's rotting my brain omg
Thank you so much
Hi hi hiiiiiii!
Thank you so much for sending this request. When I initially read it, I was actually paralysed with inspiration. I have decided to do this in three separate parts, I hope that is okay! This is truly one of the best requests I've ever received and I'm so grateful for your musings, this idea is fantastic and so Benedict.
Thank you for passing on the brain rot, because I simply cannot stop.
I will be post part one in a few hours!

he knows that if they were caught together, the consequences would be severe. an unmarried woman alone with the brother of viscount bridgerton? a scandal would surely ensue, leaving him as a CAPITAL R RAKE and her as someone who'd been completely soiled. but they were alone, both sat at their easels, working at their subject matter. HIS WAS HER, squinting at the painting she was working on. he wouldn't let astrid see it yet, though. but after some time, he notices her brush doesn't move and that's when the second eldest bridgerton decides to step in.
“ stuck, are we? ” benedict asks, rising from his stool with hands on his hips as he walks over to her. god, she's beautiful. he tries to shake it off, but he can't help but look at her the whole way over, wishing he could keep staring but knowing he had other things he needed to do at the moment. “ let's see . . . ” he trails off, leaning down to be on eye level with @folkpoet. “ what are you trying to paint, if i may ask? perhaps i can help. ”

I know you're not the one that compared Unicorn Overlord to Fire Emblem, but I have to say as an experienced S-RPG fan, I have to say that comparison isn't accurate.
Unicorn overlord isn't based off Fire Emblem, its based off the OGRE BATTLE series down to the same gameplay and such. You can look up Ogre Battle on your own.
And yes, there are in-fact ogres in the game, but they're extremely rare and powerful, being more like Oni/Demons than what most people would consider an ogre. The creators were also massive QUEEN fans, as in the band QUEEN with Freddy Mercury.
Tumblr media
FWIW,
I might have noted similar plot beats between the two (and how plot threads aren't dropped unlike what happened in FE16) - gameplay is radically different and how the plot progresses too ! - but to straight it up say this game is a better "FE" than FE17 it's just... ridiculous, for the gameplay reasons you mentionned (even if FE's gameplay always evolved from one verse to another).
The Swordmaster's Meteor Strike and Berenice (or the F!Landsknetch)'s animation for Bastard Cross, aka throwing her shield up, slashing and recovering it afterwards really reminded me of FE animations though, like the Astra skill and, for the Bastard Cross shield tossing, the GBAFE Heroes (Raven and Harken?) throwing their shields during their critical animations!
But bar those superficial comparisons (blue lord has to retake his kingdom and can rely on the help of his childhood friends and his parent's trusted old retainer + must recruit allies to be strong enough to defeat the big bad emperor and the evil sorcerer who manipulated everything behind everyone's backs) the game is, as you said, not a FE game.
I suppose the ones arguing vehemently otherwise are just looking for another reason to throw their "Fodlan GoOd Engage BaD" nonsense around.

I lowkey wish we'd got a 'days past' chapter that focused on the original lightwood siblings: gideon, gabriel, and tatiana. It didn't have to be anything groundbreaking!! I just really would have appreciated seeing what they were like before barbara's death, then benedict's death, and finally jesse's death. And it could have added a lot more to the story, imo. Also more tid/tlh lightwood content, which is always a plus.
yeah! especially with Tatiana being such a major antagonist like her past & motivations are driving factors of the book. there's a heavy focus on Rupert's death but the issues ran deeper than that & I think we see more of it in sobh (idk I haven't actually... read it yet 🙈) but imo there should have been more in the series itself
like their childhood is very fascinating & we know so little about it! it would have been nice to see how the issues between the siblings began before they got really bad & just how Benedict's parenting effected them all in different & often contradictory ways! and also how that legacy trickled down to the next generation (because it's so baffling that it??? didn't???)
& yeah who wouldn't want more tid/tlh lightwood content??

Your writing is absolutely wonderful!! Do you think you will write more for these two?
No pressure at all!
dearest reader,
the author is most humbled by your kindly words and your enthusiasm for the continuance of this story. she also appreciates your thoughtfulness in alleviating pressure from them to do so heh.
as they had shared with another reader, the author had no intentions to continue the story—but past thoughts and past feelings should not prevent a potential future~
they shall certainly consider how she might continue this story. she is also most happy to hear what readers are most enlivened and intrigued to see. with that said, then, the author formally encourages you, dearest readers, to share whatever ideas and suggestions that might spring to mind.

(closed starter for @vigos-journal Happy one year!)
He couldn’t stop moving his body and mind driven by a fever as he adjusted to being….back…back here in the woods that he left what felt like an eternity ago. He saw flashes of ghost memories reconnecting and resurfacing dancing over his vision confusing him as panic filled his chest. He smiled widely seeing an old friend her wild hair was unmistakable. “Nikki oh gosh it’s me I’m ba-” When he reached out the illusion was broken the image of his friend dissipated he pressed his hands to his eyes blocking his vision making lights appear from behind his lids from the force he was pressing against them almost painful.
“Gods Baker! Get yourself together….you need to calm down you need to find the fire and find someone real! The fire the fire remember the fire…”
Baker took a shaky anxiety-driven breath as he stood back up and with a panic stride he began pushing through the brush ignoring the path letting his broken mind lead him ignoring the foggy memories that invaded his vision. Whisps of old friends and foes danced in the shadows as he became more panicked and overwhelmed trying to cope with the fact he’s managed to find his way back here. What does that mean for him? Is this even real? Has he finally lost his mind? Is he dying? Are these just flashes before death before the void consumes you?
It can’t be….no he must find the fire or the- his soul froze. His mind and body came to a screeching halt as he looked at a place all too familiar the lab. A place he knew better than any campsite or realm here in the fog. He was frozen for all but a few moments as he made a mad dash to the building which seemed a little worse for wear….He fumbled with the door knob before he finally turned it the right way a miracle it was unlocked and he burst in.
The place was as messy as it ever was if not even more so. He inhaled the air as the familiar scent of chemicals and paper filled his nose a comforting scent that eased his mind ever so slightly. Yes. This was real but the shadows of the lab danced just as they did in the fog slowly replaying memories foggy shadows of him and….Vigo working together in the lab, joking, and eating what scraps they’ve found. Baker turned wildly grasping at the shadows begging for any of them to be real as tears filled his eyes staining his face as his throat closed with panicked breathing. Papers and notes flew about as he chased these illusions of past experiences waiting for any of them to be real.
“Please please! I’m back where are you please! I’m so sorry! I just need to touc-”
He heard the door slam open and he whipped around his eyes wide showing nothing but pure panic as he laid eyes on…him! Baker rubbed his eyes to make the shadows stopped to see him as he was. How their white streaks have gotten bigger their clothes have changed drastically too but..he could tell this was real. Baker reached out instinctively for a moment before retreating back anxiously clutching the pendent at his neck.
“V-vigo? Giovanni?”
He didn’t know what else to say his mind stuttering trying to follow a million different train tracks of thoughts. That are all colliding at once creating a devastating wreckage. hHe whipped at the tears in his eyes to clear his vision even better.
“Is that you?”

Maybe it's just me, but I never found TSC villains compelling.
Most of them were either Cartoonish or uninteresting. Some of them were interesting at the beginning and lost the spark because of the pathetic job CC did in providing them proper page time.
My problem with her characters is not about them being the typical comic villains. Instead, they are soo poorly written and are only considered cunning because CC is dumb....ahem... What I mean is that they do not have enough brain cells to be considered cunning, definitely not as crafty as the writing suggests (they are vicious, yes. But that's a fundamental quality of a villain).
Valentine - the most intelligent, charming, manipulative, always 10 steps ahead - could not think that summoning an Angel (a heavenly being more powerful than he could ever be) and asking it a favour without offering any deal/ sacrifice or having a plan B was dumb? Why didn't he even think for a sec that even if Raziel doesn't know about Ithuriel's imprisonment and all, summoning an entity that can kill you easily could be risky? It's not even a last-minute plan, it's what he had been working for throughout the 1st, 2nd and 3rd books.
Also, if he has the power to capture Ithuriel, a powerful angel (as far as I know), then why not use that power to capture Raziel or why not use Ithuriel's blood to create a new race of half angels that he could control and use to wage war against other shadow hunters?
Sebastian: I never took him seriously. He was just...there obsessing over the main characters because that's what villains do. I did not feel sad (not even a little bit sad) when he died. I don't think he's as complex or as sympathetic as the fandom makes him to be.
Axel Mortmain: Seriously, do people even know TID has a Villain? I do. I'm not happy about it! Frankly speaking, Mortmain did spark my interest when he was revealed to be the bad guy at the end of the first book.
The reason for that: He's just a rich, immortal Mundane against Shadowhunters. He managed to manipulate powerful Downworlders like de Quincy. After reading all about how Mundanes are weak and inferior to the SH in TMI, I thought it would be nice to see a Mundane being a threat to the Shadowhunters. He was the only one with some level of intellect among all the villains in the TSC world. At least, that's what I thought when I finished CoA.
Of course, that interest died quickly when he was only used for causing more drama in a love triangle. CC didn't even pretend she cared about the plot or other characters.
Malcolm& Anabel are Ok-ish...I guess. Once again, neither left a strong impression on me, but I could see why someone else might like them. Or show sympathy for their backstory.
psttttt.........There's a villain called Shinyun...do you know that? Easily the most forgettable character I've ever read.
Tatiana: She had a sympathetic backstory but was a hilariously dumb villain. Once again, a character was established as cunning but only "cunning" because the other characters are stupid. The narration considers her cunning in the way Clave is considered Stupid.
Tatiana and Zara have something in common: both function as the "straw characters". Zara exists as a representation of people who criticize CC's romantic arcs. Tatiana had a motivation behind her hatred. However, from time to time, she was still used as a straw character. I never understood why she specifically said, "Herondales have dominated Shadowhunters history, there should've been more lightwoods". When she clearly hated Lightwoods too. That was oddly specific.
Belial: ugh.....where should I even begin...? Now, I didn't expect him to be a complex villain. But as THE PRINCE OF HELL, I expected a few brain cells from him. Turns out he's the dumbest Villain to ever exist. Now. I'm not going into details as you didn't finish ChoT.
It makes me wonder how TWP Villains are going to be? I'm assuming there would be a lot of Villains...I hope at least some of them are crafty, vicious and would feel like an actual threat to the characters.
Lmao, It's quite lengthy.
Anyway, Thanks for reading.
You’re definitely not alone in that. I agree 100 %. One of my favorite topics are the terrible cartoon villains that appear on the pages of these books. I once wrote in a post about Benedict Lightwood and Tatiana that the villains are characters who are reduced to few oversimplified evil traits and their villainy is over-exaggerated.
As characters they’ve essentially become a combination of both oversimplification and exaggeration, which makes them more caricatures of villains rather than believably motivated, individual characters. […] These character exhibit the degree of nastiness that primarily serves to enhance the goodness, moral superiority, and righteousness of the protagonists. Their lacking complexity is partly a result of this objective. Another part to this is the unwillingness in the narrative to accept the villain as wholly human person. They lack proper motivation or basis outside of being evil for the sake of being evil.  They have no inner life and all their time is dedicated to their evil deeds and self-serving purposes. Writing villains like these is also a result of overly simplistic understanding of certain characters for which the narrative then ignores the complexities inherent in each individual person—even the bad ones. The level of awfulness of these villains is something no sensible member of the Clave would deem as alright. They aren’t slick, charismatic, or suave enough for the readers or the Good Guys to be blinded by their malicious intentions, so why are the rest of the members of the Clave blind to it? These villains aren’t that intelligent and cunning. Their intelligence and cunning should be achieved through skillful use of literary devices, not dumbing down other characters. Having everyone go with their charisma that fools them only because the writing says so gives the other Nephilim bad contrast and is frustrating for readers to wait for them to catch up. They are villains, they are supposed to be awful doesn’t change the fact that what the writing has produced are walking talking mission statements only meant for spouting out obviously controversial and unacceptable ideologies. This comes from the habit of picking out only easy and surface level aspects to enhance their badness, like sexism, racial supremacy, and homophobia, which any sensible and empathetic reader would obviously strongly disagree with.
Valentine is only intelligent and a smooth talker because Clare just doesn’t write Clary being able to refute any of his arguments while I am doing it for her when reading. It’s all telling and showing, much like the rest of the books but it does a greater disservice to the villains. Here are some links to my other older answers about this topic if you wish to read more of the thoughts:
Sebastian’s potential at compelling villainy and him being EVIL
Thoughts on Sebastian being a villain
Thoughts on Zara being a villain
On Tatiana
A thought about Tatiana
