Family Trees of the Multiverse: Napier-Quinzel-Isley Family
I said I was done with them but then I picked up White Knight again and realized I'd love to do one for Harley and I figured, if I include the Joker's other multiversal kids too, that'd do for a nicely sized tree, so here it is!
A few quick additional details: The tree is color-coded by continuity to make it easier to see who is exclusive to which continuity; the respective Earth is included in brackets, including what run its famous for beneath it (i.e. [Earth-49] being Injustice). Black represents the main continuity, and in the cases where it specifies [Prime Earth], that indicates these characters were only added with the current Prime Earth run and had not previously (during the New Earth run) existed!
In the case of Pamela's parents, their names are (as far as I could dig up) only given in two continuities; image frame's color corresponds with which continuity the images belong to (Poison Ivy: Thorns).

ok had a reblog that awoke the cTommy demons in me so let me just rant for a second about my very specific flavour of cTommy I've made up ok? ok.
you know how like there's stories of kids surviving in the woods by themselves and living among animals? well my ctom is that but with a twist basically.
he spent about his all his early childhood (1 to a 8 year old) in the woods, alone, and like, he was living his best life honestly, I think that he'd sometimes spy on some village kids on the edges of the village but otherwise he was totally content to just frolic in the woods and eat bugs n shit.
but then cwil found him and was like 'oh no whats this child doing running around covered in mud living in a forest' and just kinda picked him by his scruff and carried him home, not really understanding that the kid he just picked up might not be a human child that needed that sort of assistance, all children bite right? like it's totally normal for them to claw at the walls of the home, begging to be released back to the wild for the first week they're inside a home? yeah. and the shiny eyes and claws are just quirks he's sure. this child is perfectly normal and meant to live among humans.
after a while tommy kinda warmed up to wil even when he didn't really understand why he had to do a lot of things, why on earth were shoes necessary anyways? the shirts and trousers he got, they were soft and made him warm in chilly night but god, shoes were his worst enemy. and wil would also develop a fondness for him, and after that they kinda began traveling together.
wil mostly saw tommy's habits as just little odd quirks, and unless it intervened with thing he deemed important he let the boy be.
but then the wars happened and wil became very strict on how tommy should act, how he made the state look bad by climbing trees and walking around barefoot getting his uniform all dirty and untidy, and tommy you have to wear the tie, don't you care what they will think of us if my right hand man won't even dress properly?
and despite all the efforts he made to understand why the things that his brother- no, his general said were important and should matter, the uniforms made his skin itch and the long depatings and peace negotiations made him miss the vague memories of the days where all he had to be was himself in the forest. at least he had tubbo, he'd never leave him.
woops, wil dies, other shit happens, tubbo becomes the president and then exiles him, leaving him, cdream's abuse makes him both regress and progress with his masking, he's never been so much of a starved animal and a obedient follower as he was now, a wild thing kicked and tortured until any form of affection got his complete trust. only for it to be blown up like everything else.
he escapes, finds a safe place, get betrayed, flees again, holes up away from everyone else, because apparently this people thing that everyone seemed to be so in on just wasn't his thing.
some people offer to try and help him, and he accepts. once again.
they say he needs closure, which sure, he'll get closure, dream's in prison now right? it'll be safe right?
one cracked skull and revival and he's proven wrong.
but is it just me or is he kinda..odd now? a boy that once couldn't stand still to save his life, now just watched in the background, with those creepy dead eyes that were nowadays covered by those bangs of his. he seemed more like a ghost than ghostbur ever was.
he just wanders around in the woods, and the claws that had been clipped short by wil now were untrimmed, I swear I saw him hunt a bunny and kill it with his hands alone one time!
he doesn't really talk to people like he used to, mostly he sticks to chatting with tubbo and cranboo, cphil's tried to talk to him, tried to apologize for how things turned out..but he doesn't really get anything back from tommy. he seems more busy with collecting bugs and skinning small rodents for their skulls to try and unpack years worth of complicated feelings towards everyone in his life, maybe things would've been better if he'd stayed in that forest of his, at least he sometimes wishes so.

Frick it, we ball
KISMET HEADCANNONS for some future fan stuff I wanna make... Goes with this post kinda
Under a cut because it's LONG (the fixation has been REAL)
Gen
They band was formed shortly after the events of Trolls 1. It's the only way they make sense in my mind's timeline.
Branch was trying to get more involved with Troll village without relying on Poppy to connect him with people. He formed his own group of friends, and they became Kismet after realizing how much they enjoyed harmonizing/performing together.
These guys give me frat boy energy for some reason. They just collectively become more chaotic when they're around each other. Yes, even Branch. He and Hype play hot potato with the braincell because otherwise, nothing would get done in this group.
As they got to know one another, teasing one another became their primary love language. Lots of jabs and quips will fly among them when they're together, but they each know it's all in good fun.
Branch
Branch kept his involvement in the band a secret because, well...y'know. He has complicated history with being in a boyband, so he wanted to explore his feelings about Kismet without being bombarded with input from people outside the group.
He's fond of his friends and genuinely enjoys being a part of the band though! He just wants to be sure he's a part of this boy band because he's happy being with them and not because he's trying to recapture something he'd lost 20 years ago.
At first, the others were (understandably) hurt by Branch's desire to keep his place in the band a secret, but after he explained his reasons, they were willing to support him.
They were absolutely thrilled when he finally becomes open about the band though!
During the secrecy period, when he performs in Pop Village, he hides his identity behind a disguise that somehow works (Branch, every time it works: "wtf????"), and he goes by a stage name.
Hype
Officially the group leader, but he's more of a mediator than anything. He relies on the rest of the group to give their input for any big band decisions, but he coordinates band meetings, schedules gigs, and works out compromises if there's any group conflicts.
He and Branch had been childhood friends before The Incident(s) estranged them. Back in the Troll Tree, they'd been neighbors whose parents (Branch's grandma; Hype's mom) set up on frequent playdates, so they'd been really close.
They reconnected after the events of movie 1, Hype introduced Branch to Trickee and later Boom. Trickee brought in Ablaze and the rest was history.
Hype is a social butterly but he's otherwise one of the more calm personalities in the group. He feeds off of other people's energy and is a bit of a people-pleaser. Luckily, he's pretty good at finding the right crowd to run with, otherwise he'd probably land in so much trouble.
Boom
Hype's cousin, and a big party person! Before the band took off, he DJ'd at a party venue in Pop Village. That same place was also where Kismet got their first gig!
He loves loud music and flashy parties where he can shine on the dance floor and make memories people he may only know for a night.
Peak ADHD Energy™. He's a chatterbox. He has no volume control. He tunnel visions so hard, he becomes that B99 headphones meme. The man has cool guy syndrome, no doubt about it!
For the creation of the Band earliest albums, Boom took charge as the producer. He loves messing with music, mixing and remixing sounds on his free time and experimenting with the genre.
Trickee
A thrill-seeking menace to society. He's adventurous and loves taking huge risks for the adrenaline rush. He's the type of guy who would go down a waterfall in a barrel or ski down a dangerous mountain just to see if he survives it.
Everyone in the band is in agreement about protecting Trickee from his own shenanigans. They are 70% of his self-preservation senses.
He also loves a party scene and can often be found with Boom leading the charge towards any good time.
You know that sense of dread before performing in front of a crowd? The way your belly flips and your heart races and you're sure you're shaking hard enough for everyone to see? Trickee lives for that shit when he's in the band. The jitters can get to him, for sure, but afterwards, the man is LIVING from coming out alive on the other side, and he's sharing that thrill with everyone else in the band!
Ablaze
A Rock Troll who has lived among the Pop Trolls since he was a teenager. He stumbled across them while looking for a place to belong, and despite what he was raised to believe about Pop Trolls, he came to love their warmth and friendliness. So he moved in and let everyone assume he was just an odd-looking Pop Troll.
He an Trickee are housemates (podmates?)--not for romantic reasons but because they're longtime friends. When Trickee moved out of his family's home, Ablaze invited him over, and they liked the living arrangement enough to keep it permanent.
At first, Ablaze isn't open about his identity as a Rock Troll, but as he grew closer with the other members of Kismet, he came out to them. By the events of Trolls 2, he's open about being a Rock Troll.
Ablaze's personality sits somewhere in the realm of both chaotic and laid back. On the outside, he's usually pretty chill, but if Boom or Trickee have trouble afoot, Ablaze is usually there egging them on in the background, much to Branch's dismay.
He becomes extremely energetic when he's performing. The more exciting the song, the more vibrant he becomes! The energy is one of the reasons he loves pop music so much, but he can also get hyped from performing rock music. He gets kinda intense though lmao.
The first time the rest of Kismet sees him jamming to rock, they're like "OH. He's definitely a rock troll O_O" They support their rock-n-roll brethren 🤟😔
He has a special interest in fire, particularly fireworks. Back in Pop Village, he even made a business of it, making small rockets, sparklers, and other celebratory items for all your Pop party needs.
Anyway that's all the headcannon stuff I'll share for now. Hope y'all liked reading xD I'm really hoping my attention span will stick around long enough for me to share more in the future, because this fixation has been A Time™/pos

I've returned again but this time I am thinking very much about how when Logan finally regained all of his memories how much he's gotta miss his dad. No, not Thomas Logan- we concern that man with the title of sperm donor. I'm talking about John Howlett Sr. Thinking about that point forward whenever Logan is going through a hard time (all of the time) he just wishes his dad was there because he was the only one who ever gave him comfort as a child (besides Rose but she seemed to be like a sister to Logan.). Thinking about him sitting under a tree on father's day with a bottle of whiskey in hand, reminiscing about all of the years, which seem so few now in his long life, where he'd get to celebrate father's day with his dad. When he was too little to really prepare anything he'd just crawl into his father's bed in the mornings for cuddles, and as he got older Rose or the maids would help him make breakfast. Thinking about them going fishing together, or John sharing some of his own interests with Logan. I like to think he's how Logan got really into vehicles. Yes John was a businessman, he had the family wealth to take care of, but he was a good man too and I think he probably liked working with his hands. So even when Logan remained amnesiac from all of the times his memory was forcibly wiped and tattered, he always found a comfort in working with vehicles because of the time he spent with his dad. And I'm thinking heavily about if Daken/Akihiro (for those who don't know, Daken/Akihiro is Logan's firstborn son from his marriage with Itsu. For a long time they were enemies because of Romulus but eventually they reconciled and Daken is a hero now.) were the one to talk to him about it. They've had a very complicated history with one another, but they've reached a point where they can become close. Daken joining him under that tree silently, trying to think of a taunt to get his father to talk. But the look on Logan's face is too wistful and sullen, so instead he just asks what Logan's father was like. At first Logan scoffs, because he thinks of his biological father at first. He says, "a right bastard who deserves everything he got in the end." and Daken rolls his eyes. "I can smell otherwise. Come on. You can't look like that over a man you call a bastard."
Logan would sigh softly, look over at him for a moment, swallow his pride and nod. "No, you're right. I had a man who I thought for so long was my father, it was hard when I learned I wasn't his son, despite how much he loved me. It felt like I was betraying him by not being his son, and for a long time it made me feel guilty for even being alive. But I don't think he would care if I was biologically his son or not. He wasn't vindictive or cruel. He didn't have a mean bone in his body, which is so different to how I am, and how I've managed to raise you all- or lack thereof-"
"Yeah, I know you aren't the best father. Not one of us will say you are. But you're there when it matters most, and in a roundabout way that makes you a better father than most. If you were a shitty dad you wouldn't have been so merciful to me. You wouldn't have fought for me, even when I hated you and did everything I could to kill you. And the only thing that convinced you to kill me that one time was because it was a turning point in saving the rest of your family from the end of the world. I think we can move past you being a not so great dad. Besides, that's not what we're talking about." Daken reminds him, which surprises Logan. First it's rare that he would even speak so comfortingly. He was used to Daken being cold, precise and abrasive. Not traits that he necessarily resented, he held them often himself. It was just jarring to hear him be so warm.
"You know, maybe you're a bit more like your mom than I give you credit for." Logan tells him. Daken doesn't know how to reply to that other than to punch Logan in the arm as hard as he can. Elder on elder crime. Logan will laugh and rub his arm, "alright alright... But back to what I was saying, my father was kind. Much more kind than most people deserved. My mother didn't like me, I don't know why. Maybe it was because she thought I ruined her life after my older brother died. Even though she was the one who decided to have an affair with the groundskeep. And I guess me getting sick all the time at a young age didn't help her to like me. I remember she'd call me selfish often, because I took so much attention up. My grandfather, Old Man Howlett, would often tell me I was faking it. He also didn't like me very much, but to be fair he didn't like his own son. He wanted my father to be harder on me, rule with a hard hand like how he raised him. But my father wasn't willing to subject his children to the same pain he had gone through. I don't remember much of my older brother, but I imagine he was just as close to father as I was. Sometimes I catch myself wishing that he was still around when I got married to Itsu and had you. Of course I wish I could've raised you. Of course I wish Itsu was still here. But I also wish you could've met my father. I think his kindness would've done a lot of good. He had a way of soothing the soul with a simple touch. He used to pull me into hugs by placing his hand against my head and pressing a kiss to my crown. It got embarrassing when I was starting to grow up, but I would give a damn lot to have that again."
Daken stays quiet for a little while after that, because Logan's pain is so palpable. It always is whenever he shares something. It's rare that he does, and usually it's full of bitterness, and rage, and choked off words because it makes his throat tight and he can smell the salt of pained tears that Logan forces away. But this is a different kind of pain, a pain that Daken is familiar with. This longing for comfort from people meant to protect you. He feels a claw of bitterness pierce his heart for just a moment. The things his father experienced were things he wished for as a child. And while his own adoptive father adored him, it was a limited love that was quickly shattered by the coming of his little brother- and in turn shattered by Daken killing him. But that bitterness and that pain isn't what's needed, those are things Daken has to work out with himself by himself (well no he could go to therapy but this is the Howlett-adjacent family, they're allergic to therapy.). So instead he throws an arm over Logan's shoulder and pats his arm.
"Sounds like he was a good man." He replies and hopes he doesn't sound as awkward as he feels.
"He was. Didn't deserve to die so young. Things would've been so much different if he had lived." Logan sighs and squeezes his eyes shut for a few moments when his pain becomes unbearable. "Lotta shit I wouldn't have gone through if he had lived."
"You almost sound resentful." Daken observes aloud after Logan's second comment. Logan shakes his head, pauses as he considers and then shrugs.
"Emotions are too complex for me to always understand. I'm a man of action, not of words. I guess maybe a childish part of me is mad that he died. Maybe because I've come back from the dead so many times I'm mad at him for being so mortal. It's stupid, I know, and irrational, I know, but, I don't know how else to feel. I miss him. I miss him a lot. I can't stop thinking about him now that I remember him. I remember the way I would run to him whenever I was in pain, no matter what kind. And now I'm always in pain, and I can't help but want to run to him. But he's not here, he hasn't been here since I was thirteen, and I don't know what to do. Sometimes I wish I didn't remember him, even though I've spent so long agonizing over not remembering who I am. I've lost so many people, so many that I've loved so dearly. Yet this is just a hole that won't stop aching and oozing hurt and it's unbearable. But there ain't nothing I can do about it. There's no grave to visit as far as I know. There's no estate to go back to. Ain't no place up in Cold Lake where I can visit the same as it used to be back when he was still alive. I miss him. I miss being a kid and being unaware of all of the pain surrounding me, and all the pain that was in store for me. I miss being able to go into his office and sit on the floor with my back against his desk and read whatever was lying around while he'd work. I miss the times where I was well enough to go run errands with him, even if it was just to stop by the post office or go to the bank. I miss when he'd take me fishing, or he'd take me and Rose on hikes and let us ramble about things he already knew. I miss when I was little and he'd stay up with me while I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep, and I miss how he'd cram himself into my little bed when I needed him to stay because I was scared of being alone... I miss him so much and it hurts."
Well, that's the most Daken has ever heard his father speak... Possibly ever. He doesn't know how to reply other than to hold him a little bit tighter. He knows that him and his father aren't that different from each other, their childhoods aren't parallels but they're pretty similar. A father who cared so deeply despite not being the father, and a mother who cared more for a "better" sibling. For a long time Daken stays silent, because what can he really say? He wasn't the most emotional man. Yes he had a short temper and sometimes his emotions could becoming conflicting and complex, but most things didn't get a reaction out of him. He was cold and calculative. He'd been called a psychopath a number of times and sometimes he believes it to be true. Maybe at least a sociopath instead. So he just continues to sit there beside Logan and let the man calm down himself. When he hears the definitive sigh of Logan sucking it up finally he suggests, "We could make a shrine. If your father was rich there's probably a portrait or photograph of him somewhere. There's gotta be a second estate or some archive."
Logan considers it and nods softly. "There might be. That's a good idea. I think I'd like that."

The Horned Man
Part 2 of…
Part 1
Series: 2nd person, extra-canon short stories
CW: explicit, F/M, bondage
His name is Alder.
Most satyrs and fauns you’ve met have names like that- names that refer to nature, animals, colors, weather and the like. You’ve always thought it was charming.
That first night you don’t get all that much useful information out of him- unless of course you count learning his favorite ways of having his cock touched, in which case you’ve gathered a significant amount of research.
You knew satyrs had high sex drives, but that night shows you that you really had no idea how high. When he eventually asks her to stop it isn’t because he’s done, it’s just because he’s too sensitive to continue. His cock reduces the half hardness and then hangs there against the patch of furred upper thigh that escaped the tree.
You promise to come back in the morning. He panics, begging you not to go. You tell him that your house is just across the grounds and you’ll be back- you just need to sleep, and you definitely need to change clothes. His pent up frustrations were obvious not only in volume but in, ah… force.
You don’t know if he believes you. When you get back home you change, then fuck yourself within an inch of your life with a dildo and your favorite vibrator. You’re so turned on that even though you pick your biggest sex toy it slides in easily, eliciting a back-arching moan of relief. Finally.
You come hard enough to be desperately glad you don’t have neighbors; hard enough to see stars.
You make a note to take at least the vibrator with you tomorrow- it wasn’t fair for him to come as much as he wanted while you got nothing in return, after all. And maybe it would be fun to see his reaction if you used it on him.
In the morning, you waste no time getting ready and then getting out to the greenhouse once more.
The relief on his face when he sees you actually makes you smile. He’s hard again, dripping precome just from seeing you walk in the door, and you can’t help it- you giggle.
Much like the night before, it only takes a few strokes to get him off the first time. This time you know better, and stay out of range. You don’t stop stroking after he stops coming, and he keeps fucking your fist with his cute little partial-thrusts as though his orgasm has made no impact at all. You wonder how many times you’re going to have to get him off before he feels anything near satisfied.
You speed up a little, and he comes again with a little whimper. You ask him, “is there any relief at all? You’re still as hard as when we started.”
“Feels great,” he said, leaning his head back against the tree.
“I can tell,” you say, rubbing a fingertip over his frenulum and watching him squirm. “But is it actually a relief? Or is it just pleasure on top of pressure?”
He groaned. “That’s too complicated of a question for me right now.”
You’re using his own come as lube as you stroke him. It does kind of feel like you’re doing something wrong- you’ve been with enough men, human and otherwise, for it to be ingrained in you to be gentle with a man after his orgasm unless he asks you to do otherwise.
You cup his face with your freehand and he leans his head against it, closing his eyes as you stroke his cheek. You’ve been preoccupied— reasonably so, you think— with the more obvious sexual neglect he had experienced, but now you realize how much he’s just missing touch in general.
You stroke the fur along his jawline and his ear. His ear is velvet-soft, and flutters when you touch it. His fur there is a reddish brown, similar to his curls- and to the trail of fur traveling down his lower belly and then covering the small portion of his hips and legs that can still be seen. He’s very pretty.
You press your lips to his as he comes, and he moans against your mouth and kisses you like he can’t get enough.

Biocentrism Contradicts Patriarchy
Patriarchy is the oldest and, I think, deepest form of oppression on Earth. In fact, it’s so old and it’s so deep that we’re discouraged from even naming it. If you’re a white person, you can talk about apartheid; you can say, “I’m against apartheid” without all the white people getting huffy and offended and thinking you’re talking about them. But if you even mention patriarchy, you are met with howls of ridicule and protest from otherwise progressive men who take it as a personal insult that you’re even mentioning the word. But I think that the issue of patriarchy needs to be addressed by any serious revolutionary movement. In fact, I think that the failure to address the patriarchy is one of the great short comings of Marxism. (One of my favorite examples is the book “The Women Question”, which was written by four Marxist men!) The other deficiency in Marxism, in my estimation, is the failure to address ecology. I think both of these are equally serious shortcomings.
So I would like to address eco-feminism, and its relevance to biocentrism or deep ecology. Eco-feminism is a holistic view of the earth that is totally consistent with the idea that humans are not separate from nature. I would describe eco-feminism in two separate terms. The first is that there is a parallel between the way this society treats women and the way that it treats the earth. And this is shown in expressions like “virgin redwoods” and “rape of the earth”, for example.
The second thing, which I think is even more important, is the reason for the destruction of nature by this society. Obviously part of the reason is capitalism. But beyond that, destruction of nature in this society stems from the suppression of the feminine.
Let me clarify that I believe men and women have both masculine and feminine traits. I’m not saying “all men are bad — all women are good.” I define “masculine traits” as conquering and dominance, and “feminine traits” as nurturing and life-giving. And I think that the masculine traits of conquering and dominance are valued no matter who exhibits them. As a macho woman, I can tell you, I’ve gotten all kinds of strokes in my lifetime because I can get out there head to head and be just as aggressive as any man. Conversely, the feminine traits of nurturing and life-giving are devalued and suppressed in this society, whether a man or a woman exhibits them. The devaluing and suppression of feminine traits is a major reason for the destruction of the earth. So that’s my personal view of eco-feminism. I know the academics have a lot more complicated definition and description, some of which I don’t even understand, but I’m going to use my personal, easy to understand definition.
The relationship between the suppression of feminine values, and the destruction of the earth is actually much clearer in third world nations than it is in this society. Where colonial powers take over, when nature is to be destroyed by imperialistic corporations coming into third world countries, one of the ways that the colonial powers take over is by forcibly removing the women from their traditional roles as the keepers of the forest and the farmlands. The women’s methods of interacting with the fertility cycles of the earth, is replaced by men and machines. Rather than nurturing the fertility of the earth, these machines rip off the fertility of the earth. For this reason, many of the third world environmental movements are actually women’s movements; the Chipko in India, and the tree-planters in Kenya, Brazil, to mention two. In each of these situations, the way that the feminine is suppressed is very parallel to the way that nature is suppressed.
It’s less obvious, I think, in this society, but it’s still here. Anyone who has ever dealt with the Forest Service, California Department of Forestry, the Endangered Species Act, or anything like that knows that science is used as the authority for the kind of relentless assault on nature in this society. And science is presented to us as neutral, as an objective path to knowledge, as something that’s value-free.
But science is not value-free. The scientific methods (there’s not just one method, despite what we were taught in science class) of western science are not value-free at all. In fact science was openly described by its founders as a masculine system that presupposes the separation of people from nature and presupposes our dominance over nature. I want to give you some quotes to let you know why this is so, going back to the origin of the scientific method in the 1600’s and the Renaissance period. First of all, the initiation of the scientific method, the elevation of this as absolute truth and the only path to truth, began in 1664. For example, there was something that was called the “Royal Society” and it was composed of scientific men who were developing these theories. They described their goal as, and this is a quote, “to raise a masculine philosophy, whereby the mind of men may be enabled with the knowledge of solid truths.” So the idea is that this masculine philosophy will provide us with truth, as opposed to the more “superstitious” feminine kind of knowledge.
I’ll give you another example. This is from the aptly-named Sir Francis Bacon. He was one of the worst and actually pretty shocking. He said that the scientific method is a method of aggression. And here is his quote: “The nature of things betrays itself more readily under vexation than in its natural freedom. Science is not merely a gentle guidance over nature’s course. We have the power to conquer and subdue her, to shake her to her foundations.” And that the purpose of doing this is, “to create a blessed race of heroes who would dominate both nature and society.”
So these are the roots of the scientific method upon which CDF justifies clearcuts.
Another of the really worst was Descartes’ “Cogito Ergo Sum,” “I think therefore I am.” He arrived at that by trying to prove that he existed without referring to anything around him. The very concept of that shows a separation between self and nature. But he did a pretty good job of it, and I thought it was pretty interesting. But he went beyond that. He also said, “Well I can doubt this room exists. I can doubt that you exist. I can doubt that I exist. The only thing I can’t doubt is that I am doubting. AHA! I think, therefore, I am!” So that was pretty smart, but it was still very narrow and very self-centered. I always said that only an oldest child could have come up with this kind of solipsistic view of the world. Descartes also named the scientific method that we learned in science class “scientific reductionism.” The idea is that in order to understand a complex problem, reduce it to its simpler form to know it, in order to “render ourselves the masters and possessors of nature.” So the very concept of “scientific reductionism” is really the problem with science and illustrative of why it’s not a neutral objective path to knowledge. This is the methodology that we’re going to look at a little piece at a time, in order to understand something complex.
One more example is a statement from Bacon to James I, who was involved in the inquisition at the time. The rise of the scientific method, of this masculine method of knowledge, emerged during the same time period as the very violent suppression of the women’s knowledge of the earth, herbal ways etc. So this wasn’t just, “Oh, we have a better way, you women stand aside.” It was “we’re going to burn you at the stake,” so it was certainly not neutral. It was a very aggressive and violent imposition of a masculine system of knowledge. In this context Bacon said to James I, “Neither ought a man to make scruple of entering and penetrating into those holes and corners when the inquisition of truth is his whole object — as your majesty has shown in your own example.” The only way they can perpetuate the myth that the scientific method is objective is to remove it from the context of the social conditions from which it arose. It’s not objective at all. It’s not the only method of knowledge. It’s not the only path to truth. And it’s not value-free. It’s openly masculine and it openly presupposes the separation of humans from the earth, and it presupposes that the purpose of science is to dominate nature.
What did the more feminine methods of knowledge that were being suppressed at the time involve? The “feminine” methods were based on observation and interaction with the earth in order to increase the fertility cycles in a way that’s beneficial to all. For example, we learn that if we bury a fish with the corn, the corn grows better — those kind of things. The women’s knowledge of the earth was passed down generation to generation — and was dismissed as mere superstition by the rising scientists with their reductionist methods.
However, reductionist science has indeed had a lot of success. It’s created nuclear bombs, plastic shrink-wrap, Twinkies, Highway 101, all kinds of wonders of the earth! But it has not led us to a true understanding of nature or the earth, because nature’s parts are not separate, they are interdependent. You can’t look at one part without looking at the rest, it is all inextricably interconnected. The way that reductionist science has looked at the world has brought us antibiotics that create super bacteria, and flood control methods that create huger floods than ever existed before and fertilizers that leave us with barren soil. These are all examples of the defects of a reductionist kind of science.
Contrary to this masculine system of separation and dominance, eco-feminism seeks a science of nature. And this science of nature is a holistic and interdependent one, where you look at the whole thing and the way that everything interacts, not just the way that it can be when you separate it. And also it presupposes that humans are part of nature, and that our fates are inseparable; that we have to live within the earth’s fertility cycles and we can enhance those fertility cycles by our informed interaction.
In India, where Chipko began, the women were the keepers of the forest and the keepers of agriculture, as well. So when the women brought the cows up to the trees (probably savannas rather than forests), the cows fertilized the trees, and nibbled at the limbs and branches, helping to trim them so they would produce more nuts or fruit. This kind of interaction enhanced the fertility cycle of nature. So rather than trying to conquer it, or subvert it, or disrupt it, the feminine method is based on interacting and enhancing the fertility cycle. And this is exactly what is supplanted when the colonial powers come in.
The holistic and interdependent eco-feminist view in which humans are inseparable from nature, is not any different than deep ecology or biocentrism. This is simply another way of saying the same thing. And so, to embrace biocentrism or deep ecology, is to challenge the masculine system of knowledge that underlies the destruction of the earth, and that underlies the justification for the way our society is structured.
Eco-feminism, however, does not seek to dominate men as women have been dominated under patriarchy. Instead, it seeks to find a balance. We need both the masculine and the feminine forces. It’s not that we need to get rid of the masculine force. Both of them exist in the world but must exist in balance. We need the conquering and the dominance as well as we need the nurturing. Eco-feminism seeks find that balance.
Because this society is hugely out of balance, we need a huge rise of the feminine. We need a rise of individual women, and also a rise of feminist ideology among both women and men. Fortunately, I have seen quite a few changes in that direction. I think I’m more impressed with the teenage boys than I am with the teenage girls. It’s really neat to see them being able to hug each other and want to grow gardens and things like that. That wouldn’t have happened in my generation.
Without this balance between the masculine and the feminine, I don’t believe we can make the changes that we need to come back into balance with the earth. For those reasons, I think that deep ecology/biocentrism contradicts patriarchy, and to embrace deep ecology/biocentrism is to challenge the core belief of this masculine, scientific system.

From what we see of it in game, would Absol be a feliform carnivore or a caniform carnivore? Or would it be omnivorous? Because I've been writing my Absol OC, Juniper, as being very similar to canids but other places seem to place them as feliforms?
Tumblr media
You gave me quite the first question! Absol is a guy who's inspirational origins aren't as obvious as some other quadrupedal mammalian pokemon. More info under the cut so I don't clutter anyone's dash :)
Content Warning: Real life animal bones. Discussion of anatomy in depth. Beware.
LET'S TALK ABOUT ABSOL, HELL YEAH. FULL NERD RAMBLE TIME.
So, this is a bit of a complicated question to sort out. Is Absol a feliform or a caniform? The answer is... Well, neither? Maybe both?
Ultimately pokemon may be inspired by real life animals, but they have an entirely different biological evolutionary tree than ours do- meaning our assumptions about their wild behavior and skeletal systems are all just that: assumptions.
That said we can make observations based off of their anatomy. However, due to these being Pokemon, their skeletons are not available to inspect, neither are their muscles or organs, but I can give it a shot just from eyeballin' em.
So, what's the difference between a Feliform and a Caniform? Well....the answer to that is in the skull, specifically in the anatomy of the bones of the inner ear. On Absol we don't have that information. But there is general traits that can be assigned to both suborders of animals. Let's list a few so we can get it out of the way.
Please remember these are generalizations, so there are some exceptions to these!
Tumblr media
(Images credit to Wikimedia Commons)
Caniforms: longer snouts, more teeth, less specialized teeth, non-retractable claws, usually plantigrade, almost always terrestrial. Feliforms: shorter snouts, less teeth, highly specialized teeth, retractable claws, many are arboreal/semi-arboreal, and they're usually digitigrade.
Soo.... What about about Absol?
Tumblr media
Well, oh balls, that's a mixed bag.... No problem! Let's use the anatomy to come to our own conclusions. Well its weight of 103 Lbs (47kg) and its height of 3'11" (1.3m) at the tip of its scythe tells us that it is a "medium" sized animal. Very scientific, I know. Medium.
So a medium sized quadrupedal animal that thrives in temperate and cold climates with thick fur and a prominent mane. Parts of its body, specifically the tail and the snout/face, are completely hairless. It has thick, long claws that are unable to be retracted or hidden. It has a large "scythe" which it can use for both offensively and defensively, as it can be used to defend the vulnerable back of the neck area where otherwise the animal would not be able to reach. Its mouth is small, and it has relatively small teeth. This animal is also lithe and slim and has slender legs that would allow it to run well.
How can this be interpreted? Well, let's try this: Due to its size and having developed a defensive horn, it is likely not at the top of the food chain- most big predators don't exactly develop over-the-top extra weapons for fun.
Second thing, what about its diet? Well, I would suggest it's definitely a carnivore. I mean, all animals are omnivores technically, but I would fit Absol into the hypercarnivore tier, with over 95% of its diet being made up of meat. With the size of its claws, it's likely its adept at digging, so it may sample on roots and tubers in a pinch. As for its behavior, due to its size and fur patterns, as for its process of finding food, I'd suggest an opportunist hunter/scavenger.
It can hunt, but generally will avoid doing so if possible. It's much more to try and sniff out an already deceased meal than grapple down one yourself. When it does hunt, it would go for smaller prey animals, rodent-like pokemon, small bird pokemon, and other small mammals. If it happens upon a larger carcass, due to its small mouth it will more than likely use its claws to shred the meat into smaller more manageable bites it can tear off. In personality, I suspect Absol leans heavily into the feliform stereotype; it is solitary and generally quite unfriendly and skittish by nature. Due to its size, it is instinctually hyper-aware of being preyed upon by larger animals, and that includes humans. As for the sounds it makes, it probably sounds a bit like a bobcat or cougar. Growls, hisses, and more horrifically, almost human-like screeching when cornered/threatened. Bobcat noises linky.
So..... there's no actually SIMPLE answer to "is it a feliform or a caniform?" oops. But I at least hope this helps ;;

sam and penny... dumping a lot of headcanon thoughts about them under the cut. mostly musing about their relationship and how compatible/incompatible they are, and what i see the trajectory of an attempted relationship being like.
ljskldgjlj wondering if with penny-sam if it'd be more like. this one-sided thing? sam not being disinterested per se, but certainly not being as invested. (he never even talks about her or comments if you marry her.) but he apparently was at a point with her where he lifted her up into a tree???? (according to vincent's dialogue during penny's 8-heart event.) and they do hang out… i have a feeling that it was like… penny feeling stuck and boxed in and like she doesn't have many prospects, romantically or otherwise? but that she's ashamed of her living situation and wants something more. plus, she really, really wants kids. and sam's family situation is complicated, but he's not a complicated person, and he's nice and he talks to her and engages with her, even if he's a little childish. and at first that wouldn't bother her, because she likes children. and he forces her to break out of being so traditional at times, even if she's uncertain if they'd be compatible. but i think she'd really grow tired of things if they got married and he wouldn't help out with things around the house. he'd help with kids, but not really anything else. and she'd feel like he's just one more person she has to mother. outside of children, i have trouble seeing them have much overlap interest-wise, too.
on sam's end… he loves to talk to people and sometimes sebastian has cranky days where he doesn't wanna hang out, and he doesn't totally get it but that's fine. that's just how sebastian is. he'll chat with anyone, especially if he gets starved for socialization. he'd talk to penny at first because of vincent, and then he'd chat her up when he'd see her around sometimes. eventually she'd start approaching him. she's bad with conversation so he mostly carries it, even if they don't have much in common other than vincent. and he's way more spontaneous than she is, but she's bad at saying no, so she comes along, even if he proposes something a little outside her comfort zone (climbing a tree together by his house for some privacy). she's someone to talk to, and she's pretty. and she's responsible in ways he isn't, and maybe that's something he likes about her?
so i think it's somewhat one-sided (mostly in their mismatched intensity about it), but sam would just be faintly interested back. stuff like the flower dance… i have a feeling he'd be pretty amiable about it, because at least she's friendly with him, so it makes things less awkward. but i think his interest only being faint explains why he just never talks about her, and why he stops hanging out with her once he gets interested in the farmer, instead. he's always been bad with his focus, anyway. shifting from one thing to another. forgetting things.
penny at least comments if you marry sam, but nothing else. he doesn't do the same for if you marry her. so that also feels like an indicator of disinterest on some level.

STAGHUNTERS NEOCITIES WEEE
Figured I should make a new post at this point because the other one is getting too long to keep reblogging. I've been tinkering away at the site and it is shaping up! Here's a lil page by page tour under the cut
you can view the site here!
Tumblr media
Splash screen!
It's a little bumper so the css can load without it scrabling the home page. It looks alright, but to add some more text to the image, I have to make a new one in the death screen generator, which is not ideal.
Tumblr media
The home page!
I've changed the middle window so it fits in better with the rest. Not very visually exciting there in terms of color, but it is for now the best look imo. Text there is aligned justified, I've condensed it a bit more and added the randomized quote section underneath it instead of it being a seperate window on the side.
To do list needs an update but is still accurate. The team is still there, but on the other side, I have set the blinkies to be a bit larger. The music player has been removed because I couldn't find a way to add songs to it that weren't included on the source site. Snufkin is here now. The webrings will need some more. Retronaut is there, but not functioning as it should. it just forwards you to random sites in the ring instead of where it should be, but I can't find what exactly I'm doing wrong with the code.
Another thing that is not working on neocities itself is the "last updated" part. For some reason it doesn't display there what it does display on my local html. Maybe a bug at neo.
And icons at the top on the nav par! Adds some more flair to the place. The footer has also received a minor update: it now has a sitemap link instead of another back-to-home url.
Tumblr media
About!
I'm thinking of moving the small window with the short info to the right, but it is here for now. Links that are web-building related are on the right, also for my own referencing. The essentials lists on the left are hidden on load, but can be revealed by tapping the puttons. The lists are in tree-view and the window shouldn't expand over the cassette image once the construction sign is removed. Speaking of, the cassette has a lil playlist.
I might expand on the info a bit more, but that is for me to ponder. I liked including links to tumblr, the guestbook, and a button in case anyone wants to link my site on theirs.
Tumblr media
Writing!
Hasn't really changed much. I've been looking at moving the sidebar info to be in the main section upon load, but idk if that would just make things more complicated. Right now it loads to an empty section there, stuff appears once you click a button. PDF support is only available once I'm a supporter of neocities, which i do wanna do but isn't a priority atm just for getting this part running. The links to ao3 will do just fine for now.
Tumblr media
Journal!
The space for my rambling. It can be browsed by entry through the post-it, and all that seems to be functioning alright. Added a kitty and a sticker for decoration. The Stop Making Sense bumper sticker will now load a local video of the performance, but once again I won't be able to add this to the site until I get a supporter thing going. It plays/pauses on click, hehe.
Tumblr media
Basement!
Decided to add a page for it. Basic info, schedule, link to the room, my letterboxd, and an overview of past movies. It's a nice spot on the site that is also the most cramped, but I like how it turned out.
Tumblr media
BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH
In case any page/url error happens, you can send a movie recommendation to B (their askbox is linked when you open on desktop)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
UNDER HEAVY CONSTRUCTION
The art and other pages are very much works in progress. Art can be up and running once I upload art to the site, but I'm not sure if I want to post full pieces here. Maybe I'll make it a space for sketch stuff that I'd otherwise discard.
As for the other page: I might be filing it under the writing page as a section, since the only thing here is WvW atm. It's cool that it has it's own thing, but I'm not sure if something that is basically a fanfic warrants such a space. That, or I keep it and drop all my other-media stuff in here so there's more to look at.
That's it for now! I got some ideas on how to continue, but they're not super-duper set in stone.

Alright. So while we’re all thinking about Steven Universe again I wanna talk about something I’ve been thinking about for a while
I don’t like that the gems are human-shaped. Like, I get why they are from a design standpoint - and specifically as a children’s show. I don’t even dislike the designs! I just. Am insane about speculative biology and aliens. I would like them to be weirder. So I will make them weirder
(Now, take this whole thing with a grain of salt because it has been a very long time since I’ve actually watched Steven Universe and a lot of the lore is a bit fuzzy to me.)
Ok! Disclaimers aside, let’s get into it!
So, (if I’m remembering right) there are three key facts pertaining to the appearance of gems:
Gems’ physical bodies are projections of/from their gems.
These projections are heavily influenced by their mental state and identity, and are capable of not only being subconsciously influenced, but also consciously influenced.
Gems are capable of extremely accurate mimicry.
This means their appearance could basically be anything.
Homeworld gems tend to have elaborate, inorganic crystalline forms. Especially in high-ranking gems, there’s a lot of posturing involved. Their forms are just barely even function, capable of completing the tasks they were assigned and all else dedicated to looking pretty and complicated and wholly inorganic.
Gems created in kindergartens would be the exact opposite, especially when they first crawled out of the ground. Their forms would be built to dig and… not really anything else at first. As they get older they become more specialized, their bodies evolving to suit their assignments - and eventually adding whatever personal flair they can get away with (which really isn’t much). This is why gems of the same type tend to look nearly identical.
It’s also possible for - and actually likely that they would mimic things that they really like, or otherwise had a great influence on them. Friends may begin to look like twins over time. Curious kindergartners may look like some strange life form that caught their eye, before they learned it was a very bad idea to express any sort of affection for such beasts. Lapises and aquamarines often look like living water.
It makes sense, then, that the Crystal Gems looked like humans. But what if they didn’t? What if they looked like tigers or herons? Flowers or frogs? Isopods, trees, squid, extinct megafauna, or any of the incredible, bizarre organisms that shared Earth with them!
This is also why I think corrupted gems look the way they do; animalistic and strange, that is. They don’t know what they’re supposed to look like. They hardly know who they are. How are they supposed to make themselves a form with no knowledge of themself? Well, mimicry. They mimicked the creatures they saw on Earth, but not super well because honestly perfect mimicry isn’t really what they were going for anyway.
Now, imagine if you could pick anything, anything at all, what you would look like. Imagine a gem who looks like their mental picture of a strange creature from an old myth. Imagine a gem that looks like an ever-flowing sheet of rain. Imagine a gem that looks like a miniature nebula. Imagine a gem that looks like a waveform of their favorite song. Imagine a gem that looks like a sunset in a storm cloud. Imagine a gem that’s an amalgam of all they’ve ever loved - people, creatures, places, things.
So, yeah. More fucked up gems please

Day 6: Lookout Landing and Hyrule Castle Gatehouse
I wake stiff and cold. It's been a while since I camped out.
It’s so strange that nobody here seemed particularly astonished by all the floating islands, which suggests they've been there for some time. Even 100 years after the Calamity, people at the stables still talked about it. Maybe I was right, and the monumental changes in the landscape really are old news? Where does that leave me?
I need more information. It's time to go to the tower. I whistle for Peaches, and we're off.
On the way there, a very unwelcome development - some of the trees are uprooting themselves and chasing me. This is... frightening, but thankfully they are slower than a sprinting horse.
Tumblr media
The guards Drozer and Burwar recognise me at the gates to the tower - or, at least the gates to Lookout Landing, which appears to be the name of the settlement. It sounds as though I was last here in their lifetime... and Burwar says that Purah is here! Though she does have the secret to eternal life, so that doesn’t really give me any clues.
I find Robbie here too! But then, I could absolutely see him trying out Purah’s method of life preservation. Surely I must know someone who doesn’t have a preternaturally long lifespan?
The Castle looms darkly over this otherwise cheerful encampment. The Gloom is so thick it reminds me of Malice, but it seems more ephemeral. It pushes at the Castle from below, rather than simply coating everything in that ichor of Calamity Ganon.
Tumblr media
I find Purah, older than she was and in control. Her presence is somehow grounding. She listens to my experience of the last few days. She recognises the name Rauru - as the first king of Hyrule. I never did get on with kings of Hyrule, especially as ghosts. But how long ago did he live? Surely Zelda knew him as a ghost, then. She can’t have… no.
The Upheaval is what they're calling the Castle rising and the ruins falling. Those researchers yesterday said that the chasms turned up around the same time. So much change. Is it because Zelda and I went beneath the castle? Or would the same thing have happened without us there? That hand - Rauru's hand - only fell off the mummy creature when we arrived. And now I bear it…
Purah thinks Zelda might be trapped beneath the castle, but I'm not so sure. What I saw on the sky island... I think it's more complicated than that. Still, I follow Purah's orders to meet with Captain Hoz’s search party. Surely they will know something.
Having to tell everyone, one by one, that I lost the Princess, that though I am back she is still missing, crushes me. I’ve failed.
I meet a guy called Addison who works for... President Hudson! Well, sounds like he's thriving. I hope his wife is well.
Tumblr media
The people who guard Lookout Landing and the road up to the Castle are a mixture of mercenaries and guards. I’m sure I once rescued Oliff from bokoblins in Gerudo Canyon… which implies I haven’t been gone for too long, as he still seems young and hale. Purpen at the gatehouse has amazing dress sense, and useful information - it seems all the weapons in Hyrule have decayed in the Upheaval. That creature’s Gloom had a similar impact on the Master Sword - if that blade couldn’t resist it, nothing could. Except… my gear from the sky islands seems untouched. Perhaps it only affects metal, or certain kinds of metal?
This motley crew is a shallow facsimile of the Castle Guard I used to know - though I know that time has now passed beyond the living memory of most. Only a few of us are left who remember it. I’m sure these people are doing their best.
I head up the hill as instructed and find Captain Hoz. I’m not sure he knows much more than me - they haven’t even made it past the Gatehouse.
But then we see the Princess!! She faces us from the next tower in that strange Zonai garb, her face impassive - and then before I can move she turns into light and vanishes.
Tumblr media
Hoz orders me to report to Purah and I ignore him, racing to where the Princess stood. But there’s no sign of her. Nothing there but a Korok. What’s happening? Why can’t she send me some kind of message? If she’s away from me against her will, how can she have appeared here - and why would she leave?
I stay on the tower’s edge until dawn.

∞ Arisen & Pawn Character Introductions
This one is 'shorter' at least, going to do the Q&A section when they're further along. ^^ (template)
♛ THE ARISEN:
NAME: Olivia "Crow" Tramont AGE: 22 RACE: Human, but has some small Elven ancestry PRONOUNS: She/Her PREFERRED VOCATION: Fighter FAVORED GIFTS: Gemstones, weapons, jewelry, fine clothes (expensive/useful things), any stupid little thing Emrys picks up off the ground and hands her. FAMILY: Father, Mother, Older Brother, Younger Brother, Younger Sister
POSITIVE TRAITS: Brave, steadfast, optimistic, charismatic. She has a knightly (and 'ideal noble') sense of obligation to protect and provide for others, and is eager to assist wherever she can. She is kind and doting to most everyone she meets (which can absolutely be a negative as well), and seeks to lift people up and remind them of their strengths. Tactically-minded, but bold enough to not hem and haw the details overlong, and enjoys a bit of competition. In short, an excellent leader. NEGATIVE TRAITS: Admittedly, she does get a little tired of being so helpful and on-hand all the time- no, no, she won't let herself get down - she will work herself raw and ragged if need be. She is perhaps too charming at times, and can be something of a shameless flirt, hedging into hedonism. Does not know her drinking limit. (When drunk she is generally very jovial albeit loud, but much more prone to getting into trouble.) A bit naive in her aspirations, which results in a sort of 'tone deafness' at times when approaching issues beyond her ken. LIKES: Every beautiful thing, long baths, training/fighting, overcoming fearsome foes, outsmarting fools who think they're clever/better, helping people, drinking, sex, Emrys when he's being honest (even if it's uncomfortable), climbing trees, the romanticism of adventure, oxen, dancing, dressing up for masquerades or just about any festivity, festivities in general, proving her family wrong. DISLIKES: Dishonesty, most of the Vermundian nobility, particularly those self-serving wastrels wrapped around Disa's finger. When Emrys lies, losing or being forced to retreat (takes it badly), hangover remedies, being restrained/tied down by the expectations of others.
♟︎ THE PAWN:
NAME: Emrys "Fox" Venor AGE: ??? RACE: Pawn - Human PRONOUNS: He/Any PREFERRED VOCATION: Archer, Thief FAVORED GIFTS: Gold. Otherwise anything that'll fetch a high price. INCLINATION: """Simple"""
POSITIVE TRAITS: Helpful, knowledgeable about many things, great with directions in and out of the city, outwardly amicable, excels at navigating difficult communications between multiple parties (see: he is very familiar with the inner workings of all sorts and figuring out what they desire). NEGATIVE TRAITS: Spiteful, liar, contemptuous, two-faced. There is presumably a bit of 'crafting' involved in the outward expression of every Pawn but he really goes above and beyond. The only thing he mislikes more than mortals in general is the Arisen. If he had the will of his own to do so, he would be extremely hedonistic and self-serving. (In fact, before the presence of the Arisen, he very much emulated such behaviors.) LIKES: Hunting and gathering, comfort (a soft bed and roof overhead, namely), strong ale, fancy wines, general pleasures of the flesh, the sea, treasure, freedom - especially the sense of freedom from exploring the outdoors, people who don't ask too many questions, The Arisen. DISLIKES: The Arisen, the pre-ordained laws of the world, Battahl, the Godsway, drakes, anything and anyone that would strip him of his meager sense of autonomy. The inherent self-serving nature of mortals. Has complicated feelings about Dragonsplague because it was the first time he felt free, but also that he wasn't 'himself', and yet he really can't remember too much about it apart from the result, so... 🤷‍♂️

another quastion. how does zelda feel about the castle. pre and post calamity. have people gone into the castle after the calamity and could she sense them/how does her telepathy work/what can she see if anything
HM!!!
ok so. this had me rethink a Lot about my zelda because. trying to tie her into the story and/or give her thematically relevant motives/problems is Specifically Hard with the theme i chose (if you can even call it a theme). and also i had to go over what she would actually think in her situation and it. not really tying into how she thought of it beforehand. im still going over it honestly and canon botw makes this so much harder why did they Do That…. this especially complicates her father and hers relationship at least from normal fandom standards but at the very least i can deal with that
castle time ok!!! pre cal its mostly just her house. one that has stupid rules sometimes but otherwise shes doing pretty great!!! the sheikah tech are extremely abundant near the castle, both seen in the memories (including the champions dlc memory) but also makes sense given where the sheikah tech was buried to begin with. her relationship with her father gets. More Strained as time goes on. to be clear he does care for her and the whole reason he bans her from the tech in a memory is so she can prove to everyone how she isnt a failure. the problem with that though is that he prohibits her only real solution to her powers, the one tangible thing that Can stop the calamity. id also feel like at he end of conversations he would ask about her training which could lead to arguments. shes still able to infodump things to him (only really more towards the beginning though), which he takes more to heart once hes dead. and he kind of has to unban her from the sheikah tech at one point, nearing the calamitys arrival. it leads to a Hell of an argument from both of them because he Wants to keep her banned or grounded more than ever before, but well. circumstances have changed. but back on topic castle wise everythings chill. most of the knights or soldiers cant go into the castle having like. 2 rooms where they are allowed, and the guards are just like maids and such to her. theyre there and they dont intrude Too Much. gestures to the post she doesnt want to Not be a princess she doesnt want to be a Failure of a princess, and the castle doesnt really remind her much of that. her room might..? but theres no signs to that when you go into it when its broken and such. there isnt even a goddess statue in there. so. yeah! i may add that? BUT ANYWAYS.
post cal!!! mixed feelings. on one hand? Anger. anger that the calamity revived There, angry that it came early when she was so close, angry that the payoff she hoped for never came and she had to do all of that only for the castle to get destroyed and 100 years to pass and her friends to die. she doesnt think she did it for nothing, but shes Close to thinking that just by proxy of how events happened. she needs to go in there eventually to retrieve Her Stuff (plushies, printed photos that werent taken by purah, diagrams, books etc) and it just. messes a bit with her how everything is destroyed and how the grass and trees are all dead from malice and guardians. if she rebuilt the monarchy she’d likely leave the old castle in ruins, building another one in a different location, leaving the old one as a monument of sorts to What Happened. she wouldnt view everything as her or links failure she’d just view it as a stupid stupid moment that didnt have to happen but did anyways. especially because she Has Her Powers Now. she got to the springs she has her powers shes a Princess. she didnt fail at what she was supposed to do, its just her monarchy is a failure rather than her if that makes sense??????????? she has no place to Be a princess after she spent so long trying to be one. an ending that wasnt worth it. so the castle is generally unpleasant to be around. shes upset about everything being destroyed but also pretty mad about it. she keeps it there more to hurt herself than anything else. she thinks its a reminder and in part it is its just not a useful reminder of any kind . not to say the monarchy was good mind you just the circumstances in which it got destroyed, Especially For Her, werent great!
people have gone into the castle after the calamity!! or at least before link wakes up but during when zelda is still fending ganon off. that mostly aligns with canon surprisingly as npcs can tell you how they Used to be able to get into the castle for gear but now theres monsters all over the place. i think that ganons malice was still there and the cocoon was also still there he just was less actively fending off the castle because there was no need. priorities 🔥🔥🔥. i..! think she could sense them, but not really realize it was them for lack of a better word. like she knew someone was in the castle but she either was A not able to focus on it too much or at all or B could focus on it but had no idea What It Was. like it couldve just been a feeling when someone was in the castle but she’d have no idea thats what that feeling came from if that makes sense. once link wakes up shes able to focus on other things more outwardly but still focuses more on ganon. her telepathy i think works based on ganon and sheikah tech alerts :] like for example theres apparently a control unit for the towers underneath the castle. if ganon was using that accidentally then zelda would also have a tie to that just by proxy of being eaten by him. its like. she could visually see or audibly hear something change, and that goes for when the divine beasts yell when you come near them and she warns you of them if you havent talked to impa or when ganon yells when you come to the castle. she was able to wake you up to do the shrine of resurrection letting out an alert of some kind. how it works or even if its connected to the castle at all i dont know though. maybe a hivemind or a message system like the divine beasts? where the shr actually the shrine of resurrection Is Technically a divine beast so it could absolutely have a messaging/alert system. how it gets to the castle i have no idea. either the castle is also a divine beast or theres a main control unit under there. or the alerts from the SoR get broadcasted across the main tech that needs it, though i dont know why theyd do that… but the tower is more straightforward thats connected to the castle. the five minutes after playing she just has no idea what links doing and tells him to head there out of necessity . the divine beasts yells are just Loud and more loud to her specifically because ganon has a hand in that. ganon yelling is self explanatory. how shes able to talk to link telepathically to begin with ? no clue. it probably has something to do with whatever her powers are or how zeldas of the past were able to use telepathy, but its more likely just a result of her powers. i think she more or less found out via ganon though. either he can also do that or she just. kind of Had To after being eaten.
for what she sees….! thats tough. i saw a comic once that had zelda be able to see through hylia statues, which is cool however thats kind of bogging her down to being hylia 2.0 which. she isnt. and also considering her Issues with hylia i almost feels mean. she Could be able to see through the divine beasts possibly ? whether im doing that is up for debate though. Though it could make for some accidental horror? like having a divine beast constantly Facing Your Direction no matter how far away you are, or when its moving in a circle it suddenly just doesnt turn and either stands and stares at you or goes towards your direction. horrifying and i dont think zelda would be able to do that (more looking through them rather than controlling them) but i like divine beast horror. anyways considering the divine beasts have consciousness? i dont know if she’d be able to. do that. like hijack it just to see whats happening
inside ganon she can actually see things.! not from the outside mind you but its not just pitch black. whether its a different world, pure malice, just sheikah tech, is up to debate. or up to how i design it honestly i need to figure . that out. but yeag. i shall draw it once i have an idea of it
also please note how she feels about the castle is . Subject To Change. i feel like a conspiracy theorist trying to make her work here. but for now!!!!! yeah!!!!!! im going to try to expand her when i expand the champions. or when i decide how the relationships are going to work and what works better . 👍

Nadeko only likes retro games but retro is a constantly shifting status that encompasses more games with time under the label as technology changes, one’s perception of what counts as retro can be partially locked to what year you were born, the PS2 and n64 is something some people would easily consider retro but others believe it’s only anything backwards from the famicon, many could firmly believe that the Atari era is where the retro limit ends.
The year monogatari takes place is non specific because it’s technically should be 2006-2007 but it’s always written as if it takes place in the current year, technically turning several monogatari characters into zoomers but not always shifting a characters traits sense, by getting sent into the future kanbaru becomes more technologically illiterate.
Other characters in a sense don’t need to make that change like araragi who’s always been a loner who kept away from all social including media. Hitagi adapts easily like she’s always done this connecting easily. Higasa entering her Twitter era doesn’t cause any issues as she became more prominent in later arcs instead of earlier arcs. Final example being Sodachi, who was introduced in an even later arc than Higasa but isn’t good with technology due to her past and present.
All these examples show that how a character adapts is partially dependent on how it fits into existing character details but will change if it fits the narrative. Nadeko clearly likes famicon era games but with the shifting era would Nisio consider it to be retro enough to superimpose it on to their character? I’d think he’d at least vauge about it (as he’s known to do), like:
————————————
Its interesting to set up my consoles in my new apartment, I couldn’t bring much but I wanted at least a few to play.
I thought this TV might be too new for a console this old but really all I needed was an adapter and all was well.
Ononoki chan showing up at my door with the cord was weirdly convenient. Maybe I mentioned it earlier.
Yotsugi leans over my shoulder to look at “Bats and Terry” (1987) for the Famicon.
Laying her head into the crook of my neck like a cat she says,
“It has less shapes than I remember.”
“Ah, that must be because it’s not on a CRT tv.”
Those really were more ideal.
“The box oneesan played it on was different I tell ya.”
“Hmm,
If not CRT or LCD then what?”
“It’s nothin complicated Nade-chan, I just watched tha’ show on an ipad.”
Ah, what a critical failure of assessment.
“Well I guess this one is too niche for a remake, I’m not really a modern gamer so it works out fine.”
“No this game is definitely modern.”
“Huh?”
“There’s nothing more topical and modern than this, ‘tennis for two is innovative even now’.”
“Those games are even beyond retro they’re over 50 years old!”
“But they’re derivative, nothing is more retro than the old ball and stick.”
“You mean the ball and sword?”
“Perhaps but jitsu tsuki ball came first.”
“Ah, are you perhaps thinking about RaRa Chan? I getsu.”
“Oh dear, you art right, I derived too much, I may even go back to the tree. Perhaps more is retro than I thought, good thinking Nadeko Chan.”
She nodded sagely, snugging closer she said.
“Finding what makes something retro is an arduous task ain’t it.”
She’s really sliding around accents for this bit,
“I suppose that it would depend on what you were born wouldn’t it?”
“What year were you even born?”
“Hmm, I didn’t give it in otori right? I suppose it’s-“
“Bzzzt!” She states, making an X over my face with her arms.
I hear myself die in game, I’m entirely bewildered.
“What was!-“
“You can’t state the year the story won’t make sense otherwise.”
This kind of meta break didn’t require me dying…
“Deepest apologies Nade-San… I’m sorry for this character break, I’ll do anything for forgiveness.”
….
I don’t have much to say to that since she just does that anyway.
It’s rather shameless.
“Well if the year is 20XX shouldn’t I be born in uhh…”
Wait this might not make sense,
no I thought it was 19XX, but!
“You’re better than 19XX, not that IQ means anything.”
What does that even mean, is that an English pun?
Batsubatsu is more a sound at that point isn’t it?
“It’s the reiwa era so shouldn’t I be born in 20XX and it be 20XX at this point?”
“Terrybatsu is an interesting way to look at it.”
That was terribaltsu,
“Similarly shouldn’t 100 be closer than 20?”
“I suppose but we aren’t really grilling with it.”
Let’s put that aside
“Teori might be closer than toori to terry.”
I was never good at language
“I wouldnt want to refer to that chicken when even thinking about about batsuterry, I’d rather grill him.”
“Tari for Tori?”
“I’d gatekeep him that hard, yes.”
This is decoying the point by now,
“It’s a neo era not a retro era, so maybe it’s time to consider consoles others grew up with as retro by this point.”
Hmm, really I’d say that:
“Fantasizing about the past is hard, huh. It’s strange to look at the past in a way.”
“The 1980s don’t exist anymore, not even for batsu. I guess it’s came closer to yasu than batsu, baseball goes beyond batsu even.”
But for batsu and terry shouldn’t it be baseball and not banana?
“It’s bananas I tell ya!”
…..
I suppose this is the punchline in a way.
Or maybe the opposite of one, a batsu-d batsu.
————————————
I wanted to be semi authentic with this so I tried to add puns that don’t translate, puns that do, and an extended bit about concepts of translations that don’t fully work
I’m writing this before I actually finish writing down everything so let’s see how much ends up applying
I use an amount of gorowase because I thought it might work
026 (rei-to-ro) retro
20(ni-o) neo
82(ba-tsu)
89(ya-kyu) word for baseball
83(ya-su) word for useless
87(ba-nana) banana
84(ya-shi) palm tree
And for my “gorowase that don’t actually work or don’t think work”:
19(i-kyu) a joke about IQ ( the pronunciation of I isn’t “eye” but “e” like “ichi”)
20(too-rei) a bad pronounciation of terry for a bit that doesn’t entirely work but also toori is a Japanese word that as toori ni roughly refers to “in a similar way”
100(ta-rei) also a joke on the pronunciation tare is also a general term for sauces that go with grilled food
Yakyu is a Japanese word for baseball
Jitsu getsu ball: is one of the earliest versions of bilboquet (ball and small tree) and translates to sun and moon ball roughly and I think that just puns nicely to the alt reading, getsu also sounds like get you
Otori means decoy
CRT: is used as shorthand for critical in table top games and their spiritual successors rpgs
A CRT tv is an old style of television that has a lot of interesting differences from the modern lcd screen but for the sake of the bit at the beginning, what nadeko was referring to was the better definition of older games, if you see how retro games looked on CRT tvs vs how they look on modern LCD screens there’s a good amount of difference, many swore old video games looked better in their childhood and there’s actually a decent chance they did since these games were built for that specific TV, if anything I highly recommend looking at comparisons and seeing just how different many looked, while old games were pixelated it’s important to consider why sprites look like that and it makes some parts of the aesthetic make more sense, the lcd versions of retro experience is kind of dishonest in a sense as the tv would literally smooth out edges and preform effects that don’t translate well, while crt shaders do exist many times it’s not totally accurate as it’s an emulation of the base function of a television that worked entirely differently so its something to consider. Anyway nadeko is a retro otaku and would totally have this information
Outside of that I ran with the reading of “X” being batsu, which can Be thought of as the word bats (in either sense), batsu as incorrect or penalty, as epilogue/postscript, batusbun being afterword, clique, or even circumstance.
Bats and terry: classic shonen baseball manga with an old game, works for the bit about bl astonishingly well it’s anime and game came out in 1987 so it’s in nadeko’s gamer range, plus I can run my bit about Kendama with my ball and stick bit
I don’t mention teo the magic planet fin fin solely for the bit bc Im really into the history of pet games and knowing more about pet games but nadeko would probably not, the genre was started by the night trap guy with the technology that would be used to make the funny streamer game facade (which he also made), dogz (1995) game of all time, if tamagotchi is retro so is this because it literally predates it, but nadeko isn’t a pet games person probably. This was a considered pun and I’m leaving in the blurb bc it’s my post
Teori (tadatsuru) is mentioned for the bit on names to pluck and to caress and holds a casually meaningless phonetic resemblance to terry

why I never get significant amounts of writing done, or, a liveblog of my last three hours working on a Mansfield Park fanfic:
Trying to figure out Yates' family for Julia-meets-her-in-laws purposes:
-> he's "the younger son of a lord with a tolerable independence" (MP XIII)
And now I'm down a rabbit hole trying to figure out what Austen means when she says 'a lord'. If she meant an Earl/Viscount/Baron, she surely would have specified "the younger son of a[n] Earl/Viscount/Baron with a tolerable independence." The Law Lords come in too late for that to be applicable.
...The younger sons of Dukes and Marquesses were styled as "lord ---" so Yates could conceivably be the younger son of a younger son. It might be that it's the lord (Yates' father), and not Yates, who has a tolerable independence from his father/our Yates' grandfather. But Dukes and Marquesses seem too aristocratic for Austen's taste: she never seems to aim beyond Earls (Lord Ravenshaw, Colonel Fitzwilliam's father.) Besides, Yates has an estate of his own (MP XLVIII)
[side note- estate as in "area of land"; estate as in "all money and property [he] owned" in general; or estate as in "condition in life?"
"there was comfort in finding his estate rather more, and his debts much less, than [Sir Thomas] had feared" (MP XLVIII). "rather more" seems to fit best with money and property in general: condition would surely be "...his estate rather better." And an area of land might be found to be "[worth] rather more", but just finding it to be bigger in general doesn't mean anything. Like, an extra acre of farmland is one thing, but an extra acre of fetid swamp water isn't gonna generate much income. Besides, younger sons not having their own land is Kind Of A Thing in MP, and Julia's visit to some of Sir Thomas' relatives is attributed to "some view of convenience on Mr. Yates' account" (MP XLVII). "The cousins...live near Bedford Square" (MP XLV), a very fashionable address, and as Yates is described as fashionable and expensive (MP XIII), it seems feasible that Yates has a permanent residence in London, also near Bedford Square...?
And then again, 'Lord' may have been perfectly common parlance for Earl/Viscount/Baron when the specificity of the rank either doesn't matter, or would have been obvious to Austen's original readers thanks to context clues I've missed entirely. The lack of specificity could be deliberate, drawing attention to how little the family at Mansfield Park actually know about Yates. I assume that Yates' father is alive because otherwise why frame him as "younger son" instead of "younger brother"?
....*shakes Jane Austen* you could tell your relations that Mrs Norris' "great sum" she gave William was £1 but you couldn't give them a detailed Yates family tree???
...and then it finally occurred to me to just google "what is a Baron", at which point the OED tells me:
noun
1.a member of the lowest order of the British nobility. Baron is not used as a form of address, barons usually being referred to as ‘Lord’.
So, we learn two things: 1) Yates' father is a Baron [I'm 99% sure] , and 2) I make life far more complicated for myself than it needs to be.
Progress made: plausible existence of Baron Dad Yates (still alive) established. At least 1 brother (older) confirmed. Biologically speaking, can assume a mother also existed or exists.
Words Written: Big Fat 0
...now repeat a similar process for every even semi-significant detail. Like trying to decide whether Bedford Square itself was fashionable enough for Yates (no, but Grovsenor Square or nearby to Grovesnor Square, about 25 minutes away probably would be...)

Okay, this is a long one! please stick with me;-; I've been bringing a lot of time-travel, dimension-travel, transmigration, and reincarnation shit for around 3 or 4 years now, and I just wanna ask;
What's going to happen when the Teyvat timeline reaches the future timeline? Ajax isn't born until the future timeline, so what happens when they reach the point where Ajax is born? I'm not sure and I'm lazy to re-read, but if Ajax doesn't have a constellation yet, then would he gain his constellation when his "other self" is born? Would it be the same one? If he does have one, will his younger counterpart share the same constellation? Can two separate beings exist under one constellation? also, if we are going with the, "the universe split the moment time was rewinded and therefore are no longer the same universe" idea, what happens to the future Ajax?
The Ajax that we know had to get snapped multiple times in his life just so he could glow like a fucking light stick. What would the consequences be if Ajax no longer grows up to be that person? Would our Ajax be joining the unknown God in the afterlife? Or perhaps, would this new Ajax be a reincarnation? I have so SO MANY MORE QUESTIONSIOHDIJFD ples answer-⊂(・﹏・⊂)
i have to admit that i am not entirely sure where your line of questioning comes from;;
for one, i'm going to assume you've caught up with the fic as of chapter 58. ajax had no constellation prior to godhood because his world was outside of the world tree's purview. he obtained the one he has bc of connecting with irminsul via godly ascencion.
i hope this isn't coming off as mean, i know this is a jumbled premise and, since it's a fic primarily about ajax being op, most of the timeline technicallities are very hand-wavey. so like- they're not the focus of the story, whether they abide by conventional theories on how timeline splitting would actually work.
i'm putting the rest under the cut to spare everyone's dash but tl;dr:
Tumblr media
the fic is operating under two timelines since the very beginning. the first is the og teyvat, where rex lapis and shogun are, and where skirk comes from. ajax' world is technically from there, even if set on a different... well, world. and the second is our current teyvat, pre-archon war, where skirochka and morax and guizhong are from. current teyvat and og teyvat were originally one and the same, but with ajax' arrival and subsequent fuckery with the events that would've played out had he just sat still and done nothing, he created a different branch of the timeline, and the one he's currently in. so when he travels to his world, he's actually traveling to the future of the original timeline.
so since timelines cannot converge, the teyvat ajax is on at the moment will never 'reach' the original one. the original one still happened, he didn't exactly 'change history' as basileios said, not in the conventional way. he did change what celestia had predicted 'history' would be – he changed the future. he didn't change the past, he just made a new timeline where things wouldn't be fucked. technically this would mean there's a different timeline where ajax doesn't manage to reform celestia and things sitll go to hell? but since that's so much of a headache and genshin has plenty of time-defying things, i'm just working with the generous assumption that abyssal-tainted ajax doesn't abide by the exact same time laws as everyone else. so like- the original timeline was never touched. ajax split the timeline literally on arrival, since it was never supposed to happen, because otherwise there would've been a closed loop of ajax having existed in the past that his world fled from? and thus wouldn't have needed to flee bc ajax would've already fixed everything? or, worse, ajax would've been doomed to fail from the start?
time jumping is far too complicated for my brain, so you can see why i'm using the abyss to get around it.
so, with the future changed, nothing is going to play out exactly the same it did in the original timeline. they're never going to 'catch up' to it, because they're not going there. since ajax' birth was so far down the line, we can assume that an ajax from the new timeline will simply never be born bc of the butterfly effect of things not playing out exactly the same in morepesok. nothing will happen to our ajax, either, since his story is already set in the original timeline, which isn't being touched here.
this probably makes no sense if you know a lot about how time would work in a multiple-timeline scenario, but, again, since that was never the point of the fic, i'm just using the abyss as the unknown variable that it is to basically use it as an excuse for why things may not add up.
and in the impossible scenario where an ajax would be born in the new timeline, his constellation wouldn't be the same, because they, again, wouldn't be the same person. the only beings that currently share a constellation are skirk and skirochka, but they're a giant exception. moreover, they don't even, strictly speaking, share papaver dei. around chapters 26 to 29 basileios mentions that the stars are shifting because someone is changing history. technically, while the names remain the same for simplicity's sake, none of the characters of the current timeline have the same constellations as their counterparts in the original one anymore. like- morax' lapis dei isn't the same lapis dei of rex lapis, because rex lapis' included the archon war, while morax' no longer does. guizhong's in the original timeline literally included her death, which isn't there anymore. so papaver dei is 'complete' for skirk, but is now different for skirochka as she is still young and things didn't play out as they did for the other one. moreover, skirk hasn't connected to irminsul after getting to the current timeline, so as far as the tree cares, skirk doesn't really 'have' a constellation. she's probably going to anchor to the abyss, anyway. they don't even share a constellation under irminsul's eyes, so.
anyway, uh... i'm looking at what other questions you made,,,
a reincarnation would require ajax to die? so like. no. you could say taht, once ajax eventually does die, that at some point in the much later future, there is a reincarnation? but going by your question, no, that wouldn't be the 'same' ajax that was supposed to be born had he not changed history. you have to think of the current teyvat as a mostly blank slate. some things will still happen, but most will not. and the ones that will happen, will only do so because they're immediate and thus not nearly as fucked over by the butterfly effect.
most of your other questions are under the assumption that current teyvat will somehow catch up with or affect the original at all, so- i'm afraid those would all be no,,,
time was never rewinded. ajax was plucked off his world and thrown to the past, where he immediately created a split by virtue of existing. so like-
refer to the diagram i put before the cut;;;;;;;
i hope that makes sense?? again, sorry if it came across as mean, that wasn't the intention hahah:;;
