Don't you guys think it's fucked up when Fiona starts dating and sleeping out of the house, leaving Debbie, Carl and Liam kind of for themselves?

Once she started dating Mike she would sleep at his place sometimes which I think it's okay, she was paying the bills and would leave dinner ready and communicate Debs and she was still looking out for them, they had health care and she took them to the clinic and all that. She needs to take care of her, live a life, sleep at her boyfriend sometimes, that's fine and healthy. But then she marry Gus and is often out of there, get together with Sean and doesn't even know what's going on with them anymore (aka "why there's nothing to eat in the fridge" "cause no one is doing the shopping" dialogue with Debbie, not knowing when it's their first day at school, letting Sammy move in and run things after her trailer got fucked by Frank), and then she gets her apartment and moves out completely and like, okay, Ian was a EMT, Lip is a mechanic already I think, she did said she wasn't going to support Debbie after her pregnancy (fucked me thinks), Carl's at military school, but Liam is still a kid! And Debs and Carl are still underage! And they are her responsibility.

It just doesn't sit right with me that Liam didn't at least moved with her.

Specifically Fiona defenders, I would love to hear more about it.

I’m curious if you have any thoughts on Zayn’s album/album promo? The album charted at #3 in the UK with 15,275 units and at #15 in the US with 29,311, so charts wise there’s a definite improvement from his last album.

This is a really interesting question anon - I haven't listened to much of his album - but I've listened to enough to get a sense of the sound. I haven't seen any of the promo, except what comes across my dash (I haven't had a lot of time this year - as shown by my intermittent appearances here).

I do have some thoughts - but because of my distance there may be a lot that I'm missing. I do think this is noticeably different from Zayn's other albums and album roll-outs.

Zayn's earlier roll-outs came in two different phases - and one blended into another. At first he was doing a lot of promo - and it became increasingly clear that he was doing the promo reluctantly, he wasn't good at it, and it wasn't good for him. This continued as his career went on, even though he was doing less and less (I'm remembering the profile where they went on a boat and Zayn disappeared). He did less and less, and there was less and less promo.

Obviously we don't know - but this feels different. It feels like Zayn is comfortable doing more than he's ever done before, but there's also someone who is working with Zayn, rather than working around Zayn (which is definitely the vibe with the profile on the boat and some of the music videos).

The impression I get is that it's not just that Zayn has got to a place where he's comfortable doing a bit more (although that has happened), but that he's got a team who can see that figuring out what he can do and working from that is more effective than trying to make him what is needed.

I think this change (if I'm right that it exists) is not necessarily about his team being better at their jobs, let alone ethically better. I think it's more an indication of how the environment has changed. It wouldn't have been clear that there was money to be made off Zayn starting with what he can do. In 2015, I imagine that everyone working with 1D (and everyone in 1D) thought the options were Justin Timberlake or a punchline.

The early career of everyone, but Niall seems really shaped by that belief and that fear. But very slowly Niall and Louis have both shown it's not true. I think that their ability to keep going will have made it seem like there are heaps more options (Louis' experience really showed that there was more time than anyone would have imagined).

The new approach seems to have worked - as you've noted. This new approach has given Zayn a solid release (at a really busy time). The real money is in touring (although it's possible that the endorsements are bringing in cash), but this is solid enough that he should be able to continue to do it. I'm really happy for him.

martin levy was born a year before liam to hannah and oscar levy. with his parents being hard of hearing and deaf he was raised with both asl and speaking english at the same time. liam was raised the same when she was born, a big part of why the two cousin’s spent a great deal of time together. unlike liam, who led a rather a independent childhood, martin spent a lot of time with his parents and when not with them then in after-school programs and camps. he recalls a lot of early memories of sitting in the office where his dad worked as a web designer for a small company or with his mom at the dentist’s office where she worked. 

liam and martin were close for much of their childhood, one family always picking up the other, and with their shared school, but their closeness outgrew them around the time they reached middle school, drifting apart in social circles and interests. liam’s parents going through their divorce would really only separate them more. they wouldn’t really be so close again until after liam got to college. despite this, martin’s parents remained pretty present in liam’s life.

martin attended empire state university, where he earned a bachelors in history and would continue his education in the school’s graduate program. during his undergraduate years he met his boyfriend, charlie, and was roommates with earth-1530’s peter parker for two years, at which time liam and roxy confided in them both, accidentally, about their spider identities. on the run, liam directed themself and roxy towards an apartment they knew to be safe: martin’s. after the incident, the two reconnected and have become important pillars of each other’s support system. 

talking certainly runs in the family, martin with his own tendency blurting words out of fear of losing them in his head. while texting, writing, he just happens to say it all out loud. between him and peter, there were a lot of “did you say something?” moments, on both sides. their apartment is covered in random sticky notes detailing reminders or simply miscellaneous words and phrases. 

he is the more extroverted and connected one compared to liam (and any of the e1530 group), frequently away at meetings for clubs or parties of friends. on campus, there was a high likelihood someone would recognize him— and more than once liam’s found that someone happened to know him from a random other connection. his popularity (or rather recognizability and participation in so much) was frequently joked about by him and the group. while his arguably closer connections were outside of liam, he’d come to love the little group that never seemed to leave his apartment.
