he's tall. like freakishly tall. when he comes over, his legs dangle off the bed. his hands are also huge — its size, lengthwise, being almost as long as a litre bottle. he's aware of his proportions; having lived with them all his life, it never dawned on him that he's a towering giant until he met you. you are short. when standing next to him, you only make up half his height. he thinks it's cute— waking up to you in random shorts and a white tshirt that's swallowing you in its depths.

he likes holding hands, you don't. his idea of hand holding consists of firmly caging your entire hand in his, leaving no room for your blood vessels. most times, when he's feeling funny, he'll throw things on the highest shelf just to mess with you. it's cliché, he knows, but it's funny watching you super jump to reach the top of the fridge. it's also top tier comedy seeing you tiptoe to reach at least his chest when you're taking pics together. you know what isn't funny to him? losing you in a crowd. it scares him how easily you blend in. makes him want to buy you those umbrella hats so he can spot you easily.

all his life he walked among others as the tall, lanky fella with an odd hair colour. this, of course, didn't stop the people from thinking he's attractive. within the group of his glazers, he found himself attracted to the woman whose legs make up a third of her body. maybe you're just wearing heels? wrong. that height is nothing short of natural and trust he's intrigued. what's a fine woman like you doing in the men's section? dumb question, he knows it's because the ladies section doesn't have your shoe size. he just needs a reason to flirt.

he's aware that the height difference isn't much. probably just a three-inches difference at most. however, it tickles something in him. without heels, you reach his chin. with heels, you're as tall as he is. he knows you sometimes think of your height as too manly for your gender. for example, there were times you immediately got sad when his shirt didn't travel down your thigh. instead, its hem sat perfectly on your hip. he didn't truly understand why you were sad — in his head he loved the way his clothes fit you. makes it way easier to sneak in his clothing in your closet. he's a simple man to amuse: once you're in his clothes where he can smell his cologne it's gameover.

Can I just say the straight line style polycule that is Hu Tao x Furina x Neuvillette x Zhongli never stops being top tier comedy to me and it feels like no one talks about it.

Like, come on guys, it's got everything you could possibly ask for!

Newly mortal girl finally getting to live her own life after centuries of playing a role meets super chill and supportive funeral parlor director who can ease any worries she may have about death as a concept and also play pranks on her, drag her fun places, and help her make up with her long term situationship Dragon Sovereign who is deeply devoted to making her happy.

Honestly this is already fantastic; Neuvillette gets Gremlin (beloved) and Gremlin (mischievous) in his life! He brings Furina flowers after her performances and has a collection of autographed photos from each in his room. Hu Tao comes by to hang out in his office and bother him about marketing her funeral parlor, and he has to explain advertisement laws in Fontaine and how several of her ideas would get her arrested and that this would make Lady Furina quite upset. She teases him for "being a simp" and it slides off him like water.

Furina has a collection of pressed flowers from each of Neuvillete's bouquets in her room. Hu Tao taught her how to press and preserve flowers after her sopping wet meowmeow of a girlfriend cried in her arms about that first bouquet starting to wither.

Hu Tao drags both of them into playing TCG with her any time she can, and is always putting in word with local and visiting theater troupes about her girlfriend's acting talent and excellent director services. She loves seeing Furina squeal at the sight of a ghost, but usually shoos them away unless she's trying to spook her on purpose. Sometimes she runs her poetry by Neuvillette before going to recite it to Furina because she finds he has a good eye for it, and sometimes is able to convince him to put his own feelings into words through poetry as well.

Fontaine is full of tabloids arguing about who Fontaine's superstar is Actually Dating, and no one is certain! She is seen on the beach walking hand in hand with the Iudex merely two days after having publicly ordering the couple's special at a renowned coffeeshop with a strange Liyue girl. She has not denied dating either of them, nor has there been any indication of a breakup??? The two suitors have been spotted out purchasing her favorite sweets together, so they don't appear to be on bad terms??? The papers have no idea what to do with this and it is hilarious.

And then Zhongli enters the picture. Mysteriously absent any time Neuvillette comes by with Furina, but always there to chat and provide wild trivia when it's just the girls hanging out. And the girls have caught on. Hu Tao has a pretty good idea of what's up, but Furina?

Furina convenes with her girlfriend and is like "I think that employee of yours, Mr. Zhongli, might have a thing for Neuvillette? I've seen many dramas in my lifetime, but this is still the most obvious crush I've seen in centuries. Any time I mention Neuvillette he gets stiff as a board, turns seven different colors, and starts avoiding eye contact like the plague! It's like he thinks someone is going to bite his head off if he so much as thinks about the man! A shame too, they seem like they'd get along so well..."

Hu Tao, fighting for her life to not fall into fits of laughter: "We should set them up on a date"

Furina gets super excited about it! This is just like in one of her favorite plays!! Hu Tao adds fuel to the fire by teasing Zhongli about his "crush" in front of Furina one time, and he politely denies having any such thoughts about the reputable and honorable Iudex. Furina just becomes further convinced she's correctly judged the situation. Hu Tao knows exactly what she is doing and is reveling in the situation she is putting her consultant into.

Furina has all the details meticulously planned out, she is vibrating with excitement to matchmake her partner with someone so well suited for him. Hu Tao helps her find a suitable location in Chenyu, (near Fontaine, excellent tea, the perfect place to set a trap- sorry, date) They talk to the staff and the staff is excited to help.

Neuvillette keeps hearing from Furina about this charming man he simply must meet and how "he's exactly your type" and "is totally crushing on you" and he's a little nervous, but agrees to try and attend this blind date because he trusts Lady Furina's judgement, and he can't deny he IS curious to meet someone who can allegedly distinguish where an ore comes from on sight and taste minute differences in the mineral concentration of the tea water the way Furina claims this man can. Neuvillette arrives to the teahouse knowing only that he is going on a date with someone who is "secretly harboring feeling for him".

As for Zhongli? He knows something is up, but can't quite tell What exactly Director Hu is planning. When he's given some pocket money and told to attend a very important meeting in her stead at the teahouse, he goes, if only out of curiosity. (And of course, who would miss out on such quality tea?)

When the Iudex of Fontaine walks in and zeroes in on him and his table with slitted eyes, Zhongli seriously considers whether or not he can get away with faking his own death a second time on such short notice.

The answer of course is No, but he discovers he doesn't Have To, at least not yet. The Hydro Dragon Sovereign power walks up to the table, looking to be on the verge of attempting to drag Morax back to Fontaine for judgement by the scruff of his neck if necessary, but then seems to pause to properly look at the other man and consider the spread of tea and appetizers peacefully sitting in front of him. He throws a glance around the room, catching the interested looks the staff is poorly hiding, then catches and holds Zhongli's gaze as if searching for something in it. Celestia only knows what he's trying to decipher, and Zhongli can only clench his teacup and pray that whatever he finds is enough to convince him to let this go for the moment. He can feel the heat climbing up the back of his neck, his tie feeling a bit too tight for comfort, but he swallows down the nerves and tries for a pacifying smile.

(He's pretty sure it comes out a bit more tense than intended)

"You've come all this way; would you care to try the tea, Monsieur Neuvillette? It is a local specialty of this region, meticulously hand picked and dried using traditional methods passed down for generations. I am quite confident you may find it to your liking, though the local water is also quite distinctive, and I'm sure we can get you a glass if that is what you prefer. Had I known to expect your presence I would have requested one already," He keeps his speech calm and measured, even as his heart tries to climb out of his chest from the tension. No need to worry. If it comes down to it, he's has seen his fair share of war and battle. He can take him. Or at least could have taken him... a fully fledged Dragon Sovereign is a battle he would much rather simply not engage in. There is wisdom, after all, in not picking fights where mediation and contractual obligation can suffice. And social contract is as much a form of contract as any other. Surely the esteemed Iudex understands this...

Neuvillette relieves Zhongli of his intense stare and sits down without so much as a threat. The tension leaks out of Zhongli's posture ever so slightly as Neuvillette picks up the cup of freshly brewed tea that had been presented to him. Seems whatever he found sufficed to stay his hand for now.

Neuvillette is too busy reeling, trying to come to terms with the notion that an Usurper he is determined to judge for his sins has apparently developed some kind of romantic interest in him. He will still be judged, of course, it is only right. But... that doesn't mean that such tender feelings must be cruelly rejected without even having been given a chance. Furina believes in this man's suitability, after all, whether she knows his archon nature or not. And he would be remiss to overlook her opinion. She had always held deep insights into people's natures that Neuvillette himself never could quite grasp as thoroughly. Her incredible humanity and understanding is something he values dearly, and she was technically an Archon herself at one point after all, and yet, he loves her all the same. The cup wafts with a pleasant warmth and the taste of tea infused mountain spring water lingers on his tongue, as gold eyes observe him attentively, looking for his reaction. Yes, it is only fair. He will make an honest attempt to view this man before him as more than just an Usurper, and judge his eligibility as a romantic partner as a separate case.

For the entire rest of the "date" Zhongli is stressed, making conversation like his life depends on it, throwing in some flattering comments here and there to feed the air of polite goodwill he's trying to foster, and trying his best to read Neuvillette, who remains remarkably inscrutable. In the meantime, Neuvillette is just politely allowing himself to be rizzed up.

Neuvillette goes home pleasantly surprised by the experience.

Neuvillette: "You were quite right about him Lady Furina, Mr. Zhongli is indeed a terribly charming and intelligent man with refined tastes and a dignified manner. I'm afraid you have accurately predicted that I could indeed become quite fond of him. A shame I will have to judge him someday, but as you've experienced, I do not allow myself to be biased in formally judging individuals I have feelings for. Nevertheless, it really is quite insightful of you to have me get to know the Geo Archon outside of a courtroom setting."

Furina: "...............the who"

Zhongli is dragging himself home worn out from the encounter, feeling his age in his bones and wanting nothing more than to lie down and not think about the Next Time he was assured he would be contacted about.

Hu Tao, standing at the door, grinning: "soooooooo.... how was your hot date with the Iudex?"

Zhongli: "...............my what"

Hu Tao: "Ayah~ Surely you realized it was a date? Furina has been so excited to set this up for you since you seemed like you were going to avoid it forever! She told her boyfriend aaaaall about your little crush on him and told him to give you a shot! Surely you didn't fumble him that bad?"

Zhongli, suddenly reevaluating every single thing that happened during dinner in a brand new light: "I am not sure what the best term to describe what occurred is, but he did ask to see me again."

Hu Tao: "My my, who knew my consultant could be such a rizzler! A bet lost/ A prize won/ A love found/ A heart surrendered!"

Zhongli: ".....You bet against me?"

Hu Tao smoothly avoids answering that by handing him some paperwork, leaving some instructions and skipping off to go about her business.

You have moved into a new town with nothing but the clothes on your back. Well at least Mr. Nook was nice enough to give you a new home even with the work you'll have to do to pay him off. It’ll be tough but you’ve quite the knack for building and your neighbors seem more than happy to cheer you on.

Move into an empty lot and build a small house. (Optional: Make your house a Tiny Home Residential lot and choose what tier to work with from there.)

After one day, move two single townie sims into your neighborhood and become friends with them (If one of them becomes your founder’s spouse, make a new neighbor to move into their old house.)

Neither the founder nor spouse will hold a job, they will make money via at home activities like painting, fishing, etc.

Have a room to display your collections

At the end of every sim week, use cheats or mods to remove half of your household funds (to pay off your debt to Mr. Nook) until both your sim and their spouse reach the adult stage.

I finally watched the live action Saiki K and it is literally a masterpiece.

Like I don't trust anyone who genuinely hates it bc it's literally perfect???? /nsrs

The production quality is awful. We know this. But the actors gave 110% and basically brought the characters to life. The facial expressions. The voices. Their overall mannerisms were like spot on.

Teruhashi's dramatic zoom in and over the top shocked face whenever Saiki rejected her advances was top tier. Hairo shouting so much his mouth was almost always in a 0 shape was brilliant. Kuboyasu's weird ass 'I'm gonna fucking kill this bitch istg-' face whenever anyone slightly wronged him unlocked hidden memories for me.

And don't even get me started on Kaido. I could write a whole essay on him. His cringefail ways became soooo much worse once a grown man did them in real life, but that just added to his charm. It hurts to watch ANYTHING he does. His obviously fake deep and raspy voice. His dramatic stares off into the distance whenever anyone talks to him. The fact he's always in an anime fight stance no matter what. And bro moves around the room like danger is around the corner ALL👏THE👏TIME!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏👏 But that's what I love about him!!!! They didn't sugarcoat his cringe, they fed it and worsened it.

But moving back on to production quality, despite how terrible it is, y'all do remember Saiki K is a comedy right? The poorly edited super powers and $2 wigs are honestly so Saikicore. And tbh? This is the same view I have on the English dub for the anime. Like, I think it's bad, but it WORKS.

Also, the ending is WILD. Not gonna spoil it just in case, but the first hour of the movie is just episodes from S1 merged together, then the last half an hour is like entirely made up (unless it's shown in the manga, which I haven't read-) and it caught me so off guard?? Genuinely what the fuck was I watching by that point???? (This is all said in /pos)

Anyways, that's all I have to say for now, my only criticism is that Kuboyasu should've had purple hair (ONE STREAK would've been enough for me)

Can you list the best asian dramas you ever watched?

Oh 100%. Now this is in no particular order. So I'm gonna combine best and most compelling. Some dramas I watched weren't necessarily "The Best" but they held onto me and I think that's worth noting.

Goblin The Great and Lonely God

This drama, is a drama I'd pay money to have my brain wiped of memories of so I could watch it again for the first time. Everything about it is so good, so emotional, and it's literally changed the landscape of kdramas since.

Touch Your Heart

Lee dong wook and Yoo in na's reunion drama right after goblin is EXACTLY what we needed and it was such a perfect, quintissential romantic comedy drama. Exactly what got me into kdramas in the first place.

Hi Bye Mama

I've said this before, but this drama was...whew. It's weirdly slept on, because it's the first drama that made me CRY, cry. So worth the watch.

Navillera

Not necessarily the best kdrama I've ever watched, but you put young people in need of a parental figure and old people in need of a young person together and you've got me HOOKED. I will watch ANYTHING kdrama related with young folks and their grandparents. I'm very close with my grandfather so this drama MESSED ME UP. So emotional, so good.

Something In the Rain

this drama was like...it took over my life, made me SO FUCKING ANGRY, and then like ruined me. Their chemistry was INSANE, and it elevated the emotionality of their relationship. Also the cinematography was so...thoughtful. They deliberately filmed it so their intimate moments felt like we were spying on them a bit, and I really liked that idea of seeing them behind bookcases while they're cuddling to watch tv etc. They felt like a real couple.

Crash Landing On You

It's just a drama you have to watch. Nothing I can say about it will make sense. But when you watch it and see them AND the second leads together? Bro.

Princess WeiYoung

This was one of the first c-dramas I actually sat through. The backbiting, the scheming, the costumes, the sets, HOOKED me. I was IN. And THEN their chemistry?!?! LOOK at how he's LOOKING at her. Ugh.

The Rise of the Phoenixes

So, I know I'm alone in this, but this was one of the most thorough and intense dramas I've seen. The attention to detail really resonated with me. It's like, the definition of a slow burn, but their chemistry is CRAZY, the acting is top tier, the sets, the costumes, the drama. It was all just such a feast. Even the fact that, there was no dub for this drama, the actors read all the really challenging poems they recited themselves, the meaning behind everything, was sooo cool. The director's cut saved it, I know, but I felt like they could've cut some stuff out to keep it tight. Such a melancholy drama from beginning to end.

The Story of Yanxi Palace

I am a messy bitch who lives for drama and yanxi palace DELIVERS. All the women are insane, and compelling, and NASTY. And I LIVE for that. I've been watching kdramas a long time, and I was so happy when they finally got to the point of making their female leads have personalities and not be doormats. So when I started getting into c-dramas, the thing that hooked me was that the lead female characters were often women with strong personalities, smart, and simply limited by the circumstances of the world they live in, but even with those restrictions, they exercise such power within those boundaries that I LOVE. This drama does all that and more. A+.

Misty

this drama is so tough for me and zalrb. It was SO COMPELLING to watch. Kim Nam Joo is RIVETING to watch, and it was her comeback drama and boy did she come BACK. I remember rushing home from work to watch the next episode because I had NO idea where it was gonna go, and the TENSION between her and the guy not her husband was STRESSFUL. But whew the fucking whiffed it at the end. It's so unfortunate because a tight ending would've sent me over the edge. But alas, this was (minus the ending) one of the most compelling kdramas I've ever watched.

Till the End of the Moon

Jesus christ. This drama was so FRUSTRATING. But their relationship was compelling, HE was compelling. Tantai Jin was SO incredibly interesting to watch and it felt like watching an actor level up as you're watching. I'm generally not a fan of fantasy C-dramas bc the cg is ALWAYS awful. But I just ffwrd through most of that stuff to watch the relationship stuff. I felt like there was a stronger way to tell this story, but they were compelling.

It all started with seeing a mutual on Twitter talking about the show. We usually have similar taste in stuff we watch, but seeing the title "Slow Horses" made me think of a cowboy drama sort of thing 😆, so I didn't really pay mind to it. (Slice of life dramas and such aren't really for me 😆✌️)

Eventually I got curious and checked it out on TV Time and lo and behold, it was a spy show!! (Context: spy genre legit my top fave heh)

Add that to the fact that I am a huge Alex Rider fan, and I've seen this fancasting of Jack Lowden's Slow Horses character as Alex's father (shout-out to weak-hero !)

So I decided to check the show out one late Friday evening. Told myself I'd only see one episode, but man, it hooked me in so well, ended up finishing all six 😆

I got so into it, that I wanted more, so that's why I went into the books. After all, it was stilm a few months before season 2, so I had time for that. And no regrets 'cause the books are phenomenal!

Season 1 has to be the one of the best book-to-screen adaptations I've ever seen. They changed very little and the changes they did make, just made the show more cinematic.

By seasons 2 and 3, they made way more changes but you know what, I don't even mind. What I love about the show adaptation is how faithful it is to the energy and themes and tone of the books.

The Slow Horses continue to be bumbling fools that end up with the most absurd and dangerous missions. It's such a unique perspective to focus on the losers instead of the best super spy yada. And the fact that they are a "not found family" haha, like, they are forced to work together despite how much they hate each other is so amusing.

Each characters are so unique in their voice and motivations (shout out to Sean Barrett for his excellent audio book narration!) and grounded in their own ways, and by grounded I relate it back to the popularity of super spies, who can come off more superheroic in their talents. But no, Slow Horses loves their failures and so do I.

The dark and sarcastic comedy is top-tier. Jackson Lamb's lines alone are a feast of laughter. The political intrigue will grate on you for how annoying people at power are, playing with lives of people just to get what they want. It really has all the elements I could possibly want from the spy genre, and the show managed to capture the essence, which for me is the most important thing in making adaptations.

In conclusion, if you loved the show with its tone and themes, there's a huge chance you'd also enjoy the books, so give it a try! And if the books aren't for you, that's okay too. You will always have the show.

Ok, I've got so many D20 OCs so here we go! Just a warning, most of these were made while I was a preteen/teenager that was desperate for a relationship, so it's a lot of self-insert OC's that are shipped with my favorite NPC/PCs. Also a lot of pining.

My Fantasy High OC was named Parker Brighton, Human Wild Sorcerer, he/him. Drama kid, former gifted kid, total self insert. There wasn’t much substance or backstory to him admittedly, though I'm thinking of rewriting him and including a romance arc with Zayn because I love the new art!

My ACOC OC is a manservant by the name of Colaton Cream. He's a Lore Bard/Open Hand Monk. He's a root beer float, 3/4 Candian and 1/4 Dairy Islander, and a peasant who used to live by the Cola River before managing to get himself hired as an undercook at Castle Candy. Slowly, he worked his way up, until Liam came along and he was assigned to be his manservant. He accompanied him to Comida alongside the princesses' handmaiden, Licorina Loghead, who acts as a dear friend to him. After the Sucrosi Road fight, it's revealed that he and Constano Grissini know each other, and later revealed to just the audience that they have been courting each other for years. Colaton and Licorina accompanied the Rocks to tournament and to Saint Arugula, where Licorina is killed by a stray arrow from a guard. After trying and failing to get Constano to help them, he ran away with group to the docks. After they returned to Castle Candy, he manages to get most of the servants out of the castle with them. They don't do much in the plot, I just thought it was insane that nobody mentioned the dozens of people that probably died that were also the people Ruby grew up with her entire life. Saccahrina helps him learn about his magic, this is where he begins taking more Bard levels. At Buzzybrook, he finally manages to convince Constano to abandon his post and help them, and they address the issues in their relationship and decide to take a break until the war is over. In the final battle, they take down (insert major antagonist) together, and Colaton ends up becoming a diplomat in the epilogue to help bolster relatons between Candia and Ceresia, with Constano as his personal guard. They still seem to think no one knows about their secret relationship. Everyone knows.

My TRW OC is Senator Wedwina Crustulam, she/her. She is a wedding cake, Ceresian senator of Candian decent. Her dress is just a 7 tiered wedding cake, with her head being a chocolate covered strawberry on top. She is blackmailed by the FDA with knowledge of (I don't remember, I forgot to write it down). I don't think I ever finished writing her arc, because I got distracted with my own campaign I was DMing around the time.

My ACOFAF OC is one of my favorites. Their name is Nobody, pronouns they/them/any. They are the champion of the Trickster Court. They essentially represent the famous fae trick of "Nobody/Nothing/None can harm you here", where it makes mortals think they are safe when actually there's a being named Nobody/Nothing/None that can harm them. Their whole arc would be a metaphor for how women in the regency period were treated. They aren't allowed to have opinions, or be unique, or stand out. Fade into the background, don't speak until spoken, that's your job and it's improper to act like a real person. Nobody is fully invisible all the time, they have no idea what they look like. They wear a comedy mask when talking to those not from their court, but that is the most individuality they are allowed to have, however after befriending Binx, they would begin to find their own identity and Binx would help them explore expressing it through fashion. By the end of story, they would come up with a new name for themself and join Court Of Craft. They also met Andhera years ago at a previous Bloom when they were both young, and due to regularly accompanying diplomatic envoys to the Unseelie Court, secretly built up a friendship (and a possibly unrequited crush) on him. They end up being the one to set up Binx and Andhera, believing that Andhera deserves someone far better and more real than them. What can I say, I'm a fan of pining.

I've got two for Mentopolis. Number one is Annie Iris. She's a news reporter that reports on whatever Elias is seeing. She represents the brain ability to process color. Her outfit is constantly changing colors to match the colors of whatever Elias is looking at. Not much more to say about her. The second OC is Romeo A. Traktion. He's romantic attraction. He's bisexual (as we all know Elias definitely is), pronouns he/him. He was an up-and-coming actor, but right before his big break, the Ice Skates happened. It caused Elias to start distancing himself from others for fear of being hurt, utterly destroying Romeo's career (along with his sister Platonia Traktion's career, not sure what she was tho) and he turned to the mob to support himself. This led to Elias only seeing romance as something to gain from, rather than be a part of. Romeo and Fanny are great friends, and she introduced him to Anastasia who introduced him to Dan Fucks. He now works at Sugah's part time, while rekindling his old love for acting. He even recently got cast in a movie called "The Barista That Remembered My Drink Order".

TRIGGER WARNING, CANNABLISM, STARVATION, CHILD ABUSE, EYE HORROR, BODY HORROR I have so many Neverafter OCs, that I am literally DMing a campaign of them right now. So I'll just talk about one today, Hansel. He/They, Conjuration Wizard. Once upon a time, there were two children who lived in kingdom of Bliss, west of the Lullaby Lands, under the rule of Princess Rapunzel and her prince. These twins, named Hansel and Gretel, came from a broken home, with a dead mother, apathetic father, and a truly Wicked Stepmother. But despite this, they were as happy as children in the Times Of Shadow could be, because they had each other. One day, they were led into the forest to die, their bread crumb trail eaten by beasts. But after days in the forest, the children found a house made of gingerbread and candy. They soon found themselves invited in by the houses ancient blind tenant, before Hansel was locked in the dungeon, forced to eat unending candy so that he may be killed and eaten, while his sister starved and slaved away as the Blind Witch's new maid. Weeks later, the Witch began to stoke the fires that would be used to bake Hansel into a pie, when young Gretel valiantly tried to push her in instead! But she was caught, and the Witch threw her into the oven. Finding the resulting pie to be distasteful (stringy and dry from the weeks of starvation), the Witch forced Hansel to eat his twin sister. And this finally broke him. Bursting out of the cage, Hansel ripped out one of the Blind Witch's white eye, and shoved her into the fire. But he could feel the dark power in the ivory eye he held, and before he could think, he felt himself rip out one of his own eyes and replace it with the Witch's. He could feel the Witch's power begin to breath into him. He left the Gingerbread Cottage, not before stealing the Witch's cookbook of spells, and began again his search for home. Sorry, couldn't help but tell the backstory as if it were a storybook. Feels required when dealing with Neverafter OCs. I really wanted to focus on the themes of consumption as a metaphor for both love and trauma in Neverafter. Also, the swan from Hansel and Gretel that helps them get home is Hansel's familiar, and also the Ugly Duckling! I plan on writing a fic about this, so I won't go too into detail on the story, but will say that a big focus will be put on including cut characters and settings (Goldilocks, Shoeburg, Nutcracker, etc) from canon, while also bringing in the witches as a major player alongside the fairies, princesses, Stepmother, Wolf, Gander, and of course Destiny's Children. Oh! And empathizing with Rapunzel, because Hansel can relate at least a little bit to her trauma of being held captive by a witch. And actually keeping Muffet and Itsy Bitsy along as major NPCs! Because Rapunzel and Muffet were my favorite NPCs that season.

Oh, good question! I've watched so many BL's this year :) How do I choose 5!?!?!?

In no particular order because I can't decide:

Love in the Air

I adore Love in the Air, I liked it right from seeing the trailers and it never let me down. Both couples are amazing for various reasons. The PrapaiSky story was well done and I'm a little in love with Peat. But I have to say I think Payu and Rain are one of my favourite couples from this year and have quickly solidified their place in the favourite couples ever category. I loved their relationship and the D/s elements, how it progressed, how they showed a functioning healthy D/s relationship.

Plus the chemistry between Boss and Noeul is outstanding. Top Tier. I could watch them kiss for hours. I WILL CRY IF THEY DON'T DO A NEW SERIES TOGETHER!!!!

Kinnporsche

What can I say about Kinnporsche. One of the best series I have seen, nevermind it being a BL! I came into KP just before it was released so didn't have all the waiting some people did! Phenomenal casting, I don't think there was a bad choice there. Production values are off the charts. Great how they managed to balance the Mafia story with the comedy elements. I am torn about wanting a second season. I mean I'd love to see more and yet live in fear of them not achieving the same level. Sometimes it's best to let it be! Also another entry with a favourite couple of VegasPete, complicated but fantastic relationship. BibleBuild are amazing together and another pairing I hope to see again.

Semantic Error

And we have a Korean entry. This is one of my suggestions to anyone just getting into BL. It made me laugh, the chemistry between Park Seoham and Park Jaechan is amazing. I actually had no idea who they were or that they were in K-pop bands before watching this.

I particularly liked Park Jaechan's portrayal of SangWoo. I read it as SangWood being Neurodivergent and I personally think it's brilliant, especially with the way Park Seoham's JaeYoung reacts to SangWoo. Sometimes frustrated but most of the time accepting and learning to adapt to his thought process.

Old Fashion Cupcake

For our Japanese entry, we have Old Fashion Cupcake. This one hit differently. I've been dying for some BL with older characters and they delivered. What more could you want than a 29-year-old chasing and wooing a 39-year-old who doesn't realise it and also discovers his queerness later in life! It's beautifully done and nice to see people still reaching for something and achieving it when they are full-grown adults! Because you know that's life.

Choco Milk Shake

They sucked us in with the kinky D/s promo photo's and I fell for it! But this has been such an amazing series. Originally slated for a 10-episode run they changed the airing of the last 3 episodes and have snuck in an extra episode! Episode 11 is due to air on the 20th Dec. Episode 10 is 100% the original ending but I think they realised how popular it was and maybe wanted to squeeze out another episode. Plus I know how people reacted to the Kissable Lips ending, maybe Strongberry doesn't want the same outcome!

The casting choices were outstanding. Lee JaeBin is completely believable as a puppy in human form and Kim SeongHyuk as a cat in human form is spot on. Seriously they nailed the mannerisms of a dog and cat.

Interesting how such a comedic show with a comedic premise also somehow manages to deal with loss, grief, and loneliness.

Some honorable mentions: The Miricle of Teddy Bear, Cutie Pie, Dear Doctor, I'm Coming for Soul, Big Dragon, The Eclipse, Plus and Minus, Kei X Yaku, Secret Crush on You

A Baker’s Dozen List of 13 Anime for When You Just Want to Laugh Your &%$ Off.

1. Good Luck Girl (Binbougami Ga)

My biggest complaint with the majority of comedic anime out there is that there’s either no story, the schtick gets old after a few episodes, or there’s only one or two characters that are worth anything and the rest are just there to fill out a classroom. Binbougami Ga has always been that one comedy show that is just plain unforgettable, one of my favorite funny anime. Great characters, great narrative, an abundance of feel-good, and right alongside all that is some of the most side-splitting gags and hilarity you’ll ever see, each one as fresh as the one before it. I have to call Binbougami Ga a must-watch, it’s as good as they get. 

2. Konosuba (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!) 

And that’s a tall, tall order when put next to this band of merry misfits that I am enamored with. I can’t even describe how funny this show is, especially if you have ever been an RPG game nerd (they embody common in-game stereotypes that make the chemistry between them that much more ironic, but you don’t have to “get” that dynamic to totally love this show). The personalities are too perfect, the cynicism and snark are honed to a discernable edge. Konosuba is one of my all-time favorite titles period, in any genre. So much pure, top-tier shenanigans throughout. 

3. My Bride is a Mermaid (Seto no Hanayome) 

Man, they just do not make them like this anymore. Sebastian left out a lot when he was singing about what goes on under the sea - mermaid mafias, transforming sharks, Terminator dads, loyal chimp sidekicks, and non-stop wackiness that will have you squirting whatever you’re drinking out through your nose with regularity. If you’re looking for a good time, you can’t ask for much more than Sun and Nagasumi and everyone that comes along with them. 

4. Amagi Brilliant Park 

There is a lot more going on in AmaBri than just hijinks - there is character progression. There is plot. There is linearity. You’re going to fall in love with several of these characters, because they’re worth falling for. But you’re going to LOL quite often, as well. Every single one of these cute and fuzzy little people (or fairies, to be... fair?) is a horribly flawed and hateful piece of work who loves nothing more than torturing one another for sport. Of course, they all come together and everybody lives happily ever after in the end and anime happens just like you expect it to, but getting there is too much fun. 

5. The Devil is a Part-Timer ( Hataraku Maou-sama!)

We have once again come to one of my all-time favorites, a show I will hold out with both arms over Pride Rock for the whole herd to see is in the world. It’s not just my favorite tsundere that has ever tsunded, it's not just the cavalcade of Sasaki’s facial expressions that make you laugh so hard you have to rewind a few seconds to catch missed dialogue, and it isn’t just the ridiculousness of it all that makes you wonder how off-kilter the person who thought it up in the first place has to be. Devil is a very good, very complete story. It’s such a very well done, very polished, start-to-finish anime. But yes, one that also happens to be insanely funny. 

6. Aho-Girl

You want as much pointless, plotless, slapstick gutter humor as can be crammed into a 12-minute timeframe? Here ya go. Stupidity at near sonic nonstop speeds, but the characters are so much fun it’s easy to binge episode after episode. 

7. Nichijou (Nichijou - My Ordinary Life)

Speaking of random, zany, and all around wtfedness humor, you will never see everyday happenings exploited and pushed to the edge of where a joke can go more than these six girls (and one cat) do. I think of Nichijou like Indian food or that single-malt that your dad really loves but you’ve never seen in a store - a lot of the show is acquired taste imo. But, if you’ve acquired it? Oye. So much bonkers going on in here! 

8. Gintama

Gintama is a show I can only take in small doses - the constant pundits and so-stupid-you-laugh moments wear on me after a while. Still, anybody who puts out a list of comedy anime and does not include Gintama is just asking to be discredited on the spot. Even people who don’t watch anime seem to understand that Gintama is one of the funniest shows out there, and even from someone who isn’t a huge fan, there are moments that I still remember years later and crack up.  

9. D-Frag

The OP song alone is just a random mishmosh of words that shouldn’t go together. Kazama Kenji shouts almost all his lines through the first few episodes. Some of the jokes are so far left of left field that the absurdity alone is what makes you bust up. And then, just about the time you catch your bearings and start to snuggle up to the constant silly of these little wierdos, you realize the same thing the characters do as the show goes on - all this is actually a ton of fun. Very nutty, very funny anime. Such a good time. 

10. Hyakko 

Originally watched this one because the artwork was so unique to me, stayed for the giggle fits I couldn’t tame. The mix of personalities of all these girls is great, and the timing between Torako and Tatsuki especially is fantastic. The last 3-4 episodes unfortunately are pretty much filler and feel a bit more canned than the rest, but for a title that I never really see people talking about, Hyakko delivers the howls in spades. 

11. Strange+ 

Ever watch an anime and wonder how in the world they came up with the title? Yeah, this isn’t one of them. Strange+ is definitely strange in an outlandishly wonderful way. Short episodes with exactly no progression, no plot, and most of the time not even a point except to be ludicrous and farcical nonstop. Truly one of the most unique shorts I’ve ever seen, and one of the laugh-out-loudest, as well. 

12.  Moyashimon

If Strange+ wasn’t worthy enough of its title, it would have been a perfect fit for Moyashimon, because “quirky” doesn’t even scratch the surface. There are plenty of laughs on their own, but the climate of the whole thing from start to finish is just awkward enough that even the times when it tries to be serious and salient it’s freaking hilarious. Mostly, though, I have had three (yes, THREE) Covid tests in the past month and keep thinking how awesome it would be if I had a Sawaki Tadayasu in my life to just ask instead of being repeatedly stabbed in the brain with a q-tip (he can see microorganisms, btw - and most of the time they’re a riot). I think of this whole list, Moyashimon is likely the most niche humor of them all, but I’ve always loved the wildly creative originality and the outside-the-lines, twisted sense of humor of these three college cohorts with ginormous personalities. If you can find both seasons somewhere to stream, definitely worth checking out. Just a marvelous time. 

13. Ranma 1/2 

So, I won’t say I’ve been saving the BEST laughs for last this whole time, but I definitely saved the MOST until now. Ranma Saotome (or Ranka Tendo, depending on what’s happening that episode) and the entire cast of this light-hearted, persiflage fanfare are so deep in my heart we’re practically simbiotic at this point. Plot? Not really. Arcs? Ocassionally, but not really. GOOD, HEARTFELT FUN and a huge cast of distinctly outrageous characters? Most definitely. Ranma 1/2 is one of the first shows I remember watching, and it was just as good at making me laugh then as it is 25yrs later, truly one of the best out there.

Uhhh. A sound Yakko sometimes makes as a kind of verbal tic.It was improvised by his voice actor

Yakko balloon incident. A Yakko inflatable balloon was displayed on top of the real life wb water tower to promote the show. However, when Bob Daley, who ran the studio at the time, saw the balloon, he thought that it was a misshapen Mickey Mouse and they were being attacked by Disney.

The Warner's ages. Revealed in the Talkin' Toons podcast . 14, 11 and 9 respectively

Cartoonus characterus. The Warner's species according to Tom Ruegger

Tier 2

Green ducks. Originally the show was going to star a family/group of green ducks. Eventually the team scraped the concept due to ducks being overused in cartoons

Yakky, Smakky & Wakky. A "prototype" of what eventually became the Warners. Yakky (who became Yakko) was the chatty one, Smakky the violent one and Wakky the weird one (this two were fuse together to create wakko). There was also a nameless female character that became Dot.

Brinky. The ship between Pinky and the Brain. Very popular amongst the fandom

Fandom Angst. Despite being a comedy show, the fandom tends to create lots of angsty fan works

Salad breadsticks soup. These beautiful images:

Milk fic. Angst fanfic called "Big Brother's Responsibility" that starts with Yakko drinking milk and having a mental breakdown because he had a fight with is siblings and is lactose intolerant. It became a running joke in the fandom

Tier 3

Marx brothers influence. Yakko is heavily inspired in Groucho and Wakko in Harpo

Lakko warner. A character that was supposed to appeared in the cancelled movie "Wandering Warners We" as the fourth warner

Yax. Crack shipp between Yakko Warner and Max Goof

Minerva Mink fake unreleased shorts. For a long time it was rumored that more Minerva Mink cartoons were produced but never released. It was later revealed that these cartoons never existed in the first place, making them false lost media

Animaniacs bible. The show's bible ( a reference document used by screenwriters for information on characters, settings, and other elements of a project)

Cancelled movies. In 1995 there were plans for a movie ( Wandering Warners We) that was scrapped because of wb prioritizing space jam. This Means Warners (set in world war II), Revolutionary Warners (an adaptation of Oliver Twist) and Warner Land (in which the siblings harras santa) were also scrapped ideas.

Cut characters. Characters that didn't make it into the show. These include Bossy Beaver and Doyle (a beaver duo), The Fleas and Nipsy and Russell (a raccoon duo)

Animaniacs live. A concert musical live show where Rob Paulsen (the voice of Yakko and Pinky), Randy Rogel (one of the animaniacs songwriters) perform songs from the show.

Reboot concept art in cuphead art style. There is concept art made by Studio MDHR (the studio behind cuphead) of the Warners in a rubber hose art style.

Nickelaney. It references how the show's intro was butchered in the nickelodeon reruns by writing their name in the beginning, shortening the song and replacing all the variable lines with "nickelaney". It was so bad that apparently lots of at the time fans refused to watch the reruns. A similar thing happened with PATB

Yakko's boat. An image of Yakko with a toy boat that somehow became a meme (I remember seeing it mostly on Instagram)

Salppy dementia episode. Episode 83. Known for being the the most serious and emotional episode of all the series. Sadly it was largely based on Tom Ruegger's memories of visiting his aunt at a nursing home.

Axe fic. A fic called Soliloquy of Regret where Yakko starts killing people with an axe. The first half consists of Yakko slowly descending into madness and the second is about the animaniacs cast trying to stop the apocalypse. Unlike the milk fic that is just angst for the sake of being angst, the axe fic its so insane that ends up being entertaining (at least for me jajs)

Yakko Alvin Warner. Yakko's second name is Alvin according to the comics

Tier 4

1-855-HULU-FAN. At one point after the release of S1 of the reboot you could call this phone number to "talk" to the Warners (it was actually a prerecorded voice message)

Pay for play/pay or play contracts debate. The closed captioning in the og series mistakenly had the line as "pay for play" contracts instead "of pay or play". This sparked an online debate in the old fandom about which line was the correct

Hello Nurse is a secret agent. It's revealed in the comics.

Broadcast Nuisance delated scenes. Some parts of the episode were cut and redubbed because the warners were being too cruel

I'm mad theatrical version. The song was originally released as a theatrical short for Thumbelina. This version included additional title cards that are partially found lost media.

Album exclusive songs. Some albums included songs that weren't in the series ( I'll Take an Island, Several Drops of Rain, the Hello Song)

Pinky is a masochist. There are some instances were pinky seems to enjoy being in pain (though this is inconsistent throughout the show)

Buddy was real. In universe, Buddy was a character whose boring cartoons lead to the creation of the Warners. Turns out he wasn't created for the show, he's a real Looney Tunes character who was the lead star of Warner Bros. cartoons from 1933 to 1935.

Kathy Page Cowan credits running gag. During season 1 and 2 of the og series Kathryn Page (Tom ruegger's assistant) was credited with all sorts of random things as a gag.

Six flags. In the 90s the warners made appearances as costumed characters at Six Flags Theme Parks.

Cancelled robot chicken sketch. It would involve the Warners doing edgy stuff. Apparently cancellation was partly due to the original voice actors refusing to reprise their role out of respect for their characters. As an additional fact, a few years later they made a PATB parody with Maurice LaMarche reprising his role as Brain. In an interview he admitted he regrets doing it..

I took a break from animaniacs in the wait for season 3. When I came back I realized how much I had forgotten about the show and it kinda scared me. I decided to write these facts and fandom anecdotes just to have a reminder in case some day I forget.

This is it. I don't have hopes for a season 4 or any other animaniacs media. I'll probably stay here for another week. I don't want to get into personal stuff, so I'll just say that animaniacs was the best thing that happened to me in 2020. I'm going through some rough stuff so I'm glad I got the chance to watch these characters one last time. Even though my interest in the show isn't the same as it used to be, I still hold it very close to my heart ❤️

THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER (1940)

Genre: romantic comedy

Two employees at a general store are constantly butting heads while being enamored of their respective pen pals.

This movie started me on the path to watching older movies. Back when we had cable, I was literally just flipping through the channels looking for something to watch and there was something super charming about this black and white movie that made me stop. I'm pretty sure it was James Stewart's demeanor in this movie. I would binge a bunch of his other movies after - including The Mortal Storm which stars him and Margaret Sullivan again as its romantic leads.

The fact that this movie is considered a top tier romcom is validating. And of course, because Hollywood is gonna Hollywood... it would be later adapted into "You Got Mail" starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. This time with AOL inboxes instead of a PO box. I believe it's considered a 90s romcom classic but I'm partial to The Shop Around the Corner because of the shop atmosphere. And that both of the main characters are from humble beginnings (and not part of a mega bookstore chain, yanno?).

I think it's a well-done "enemies to lovers" trope because they never get too nasty with each other just for the sake of some drama or to delay the romance. And when they get real snarky, it makes it hit harder. When Klara tells him he has a hand-bag instead of a heart (because he's the shop assistant and takes his job seriously) that bit of dialogue was brutal.

Miscommunication and misunderstandings are typical romcom fare, but I feel like Shop doesn't rely on it as much as '90s romcoms. I feel like they've essentially just dismissed each other based on first meeting, in a work environment (which is an important note), so it took some time to realize the qualities in each other that actually matter. And what misunderstandings occur was pretty much intentional on Kralik's part and was incredibly amusing.

The ankle scene! Haha. Burned into my memories and makes me wish for a pair of sock garters of my own.

Because of its genre, the viewer knows it's going to deliver a happy ending where the leads get together but watching them warm up to each other is satisfying. It doesn't feel predictable because of its attention to details.

Beyond the main characters, the supporting cast is great. The shop is lively, it's not overly idealized and syrupy. I do like the friendship between Pirovitch (played by Felix Bressart) though. Hugo Matuschek, the shop owner (played by Frank Morgan), goes hot and cold on his employees due to personal things at home. As much as I will say on that without spoiling things. Let's not forget the brown-nosing co-worker Ferencz Vadas (played by Joseph Schildkraut). His lines are perfectly two-faced or backhanded. Like you're so sure he insulted you, but you can't call him out on it! With that you got your set up for a workplace comedy-drama.

Interesting bit: Margaret Sullivan and James Stewart were friends off screen which probably helped the on-screen chemistry. It's also believed that Stewart was head over heels for Sullivan. She was married to Henry Fonda and the three were all pals (though they divorced years prior to this movie). She and Fonda were lefties while Stewart was a republican. So that dynamic is definitely interesting. I don't remember the source, but supposedly Fonda and Stewart had such a heated argument once that they had to swear off talking politics! Sullivan herself was also known for getting pretty heated. When she heard that a writer was gonna get fired because of his left-wing views by an anti-communist director, she blew up on said director. Even one of the founders of MGM was scared of her. Her life was rough going as she got older, pretty tragic. But I won't get into that here.

Retrospective Review - Batman: The Movie (1966)

Now this is a unique one of a kind movie experience. I remember that the Batman tv series was one of the initial inductions into comic books along with BTAS as a kid. It was two completely versions of Batman. I used to love the voice effects of the punches with the text on screen obscuring the punches. As a kid, this was the greatest thing ever. Watching the movie as an adult after years is such a ridiculous nostalgic trip. Its just one of those things that you have to look through the lense of the time period and the show.

This film is absolute camp and is about as far away from what we think about the Batman in the modern day. This movie is so bright and sunny, which is contrary to Batman. I don't think Batman appears even once at night. In fact I feel only one scene is really set at night. Otherwise the movie is set during the day and everything is very warm and friendly. Each and every actor looks like they are all playing at the absolute peak camp and having a blast while doing it. The plot of the movie is blatantly absurd and absolutely hilarious. 4 villains, Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman are using technology that dehydrates a person, converting them to powder, and targeting the world security council. Its impossible to take this stuff seriously but you aren't meant to. This is goofiness in its absolute sincerity. And its a blast to watch with that mindset.

The film is filled with pretty much everyone. As I mentioned earlier, the film has some of the top tier villains working together. Robin is in the movie along with Alfred and Gordon. There is a lot of fun to be had. The film just has the most exaggerated dialogue possible. The movie is definitely targeting kids. Because of the a lot of dialogue is very explanatory so that young kids watching can understand what is going, whether be it the villains talking to each other or Batman ad Robin doing detective work. In a way its admirable how the film wholeheartedly targets its demographic and there's good reason that this is the Batman for a whole generation of people. The action is fun. Like I mentioned before, I loved the sound effects of the punches showing up in text. The film has some brilliant humor. Like Batman racing around trying to dispose of a bomb, a bomb which has an extremely long fuse, and he just can't find an empty space to dispose of it. I cackled through that entire sequence. There are many scenes like that.

However, keeping the goofiness and the camp aside, the film definitely is about 15 mins too long. There is only so much to the story. The last 15 minutes or so just seem to be a bit of unnecessary social. If the film was about 80-85 mins, it would probably be the perfect length. Bruce Wayne is also a bit an idiot in the movie, since he can't figure out that the woman seducing him is Catwoman. Obviously the film shows its age and budget so anyone looking to see a proper Batman movie of the modern era is certainly not going to find it here. In essence this film has to be taken as an action comedy.

This film definitely lives and dies on the strength of its performances. Adam West is a generation's Batman for a reason. There is no winking at the camera in his performance. There is incredible amount of earnestness in his turn. Same with Burt Ward as Robin. Cesar Romero, Burgess Meredith, Frank Gorshin, and Lee Meriwether are clearly having the time of their lives as the villains and they light up the screen. Alan Rapier has a few funny scenes as Alfred.

Overall, this is a hard movie to grade. It has to be graded on a curve based on what it is intended to be and its a joyous ride in the right mood. I would say its about a 7-7.5/10.

please assist me! I want to watch a new anime, and you seem fairly well-versed. What are some of your favorite shows? I very much liked Spy X Family: A blend of comedy and action, with an undercurrent of something serious, and not a whole lot of exaggerated fanservice. My other fave shows are Fullmetal Alchemist and Mob Psycho — but many shonen tend to be…kind of achingly slow-paced, which is why I’ve dropped shows like My Hero Academia, Bleach, Demon Slayer, and Fairy Tail. It is so hard to find good shows, and there are SO MANY SHOWS EVERY SEASON. TnT I don’t even mind if they’re old shows (like 80s/90s/00s!) — you seem like you have good taste, so I’d love to hear your opinions!

Alright, before we start, very important question: did you watch fullmetal alchemist of fullmetal alchemist brotherhood? Because those are two very different things

Alright, now for recs:

-Cyberpunk Edgerunners: you've probably already heard of this one, but it's absolutely worth it. There's a lot of blood, gore and sex in this one, and it skews more to the depressing side rather than the comedy, so it might not be your thing, but it's still one of the best anime to come out this year so I can't not reccomend it

-Lycoris Recoil: cute girls doing shadow ops assassination things. One of my three contenders for anime of the year. It's a small cast of absolutely endearing characters, excellent action and writing that drops little bits and clues of the overarching plot and ties them all together at the end, and while it does stumble a bit at last two episodes, it still lands at a solid 9/10

-Chainsaw Man: blood, gore, fanservice that doesn't reach obnoxious levels, excellent animation, music and direction. The pacing might be a bit slow at times, but it's only 12 episodes and it definitely makes it up later down the line

-Netflix's Castlevania: not exactly Japan-anime but it's undeniably anime-inspired. The first two seasons are top tier, the third is... less so, and the fourth is a mixed bag that lands the end, so you decide how far you wanna take it

-Bocchi the Rock!: another of my anime of the year. 12-year-old Hitori takes up playing the guitar to make friends. Three years later she's gained a moderately successful youtube channel where she uploads her guitar covers, exactly zero (0) friends and crippling social anxiety. One day a girl from another school sees her carrying her guitar around and asks her to join her band because their guitarrist ghosted them, and since Hitori is too anxious to say no, she gets recruited into a band, and experiences friendship, learning to play as a band, working part-time and even more things that make her anxiety skyrocket. The premise may not sound like it, but this is one of the most creative anime I've seen this year, with the studio taking Hitori's anxiety episodes to hilarious extremes, turning into different animation styles and even live action and claymation. It's a super satisfying watch

-To Your Eternity: an immortal gets sent to earth and grow and discover how to live as a person. If you're in a mood for depression, this will certainly deliver. I'm not being facetious, if you're the kind of person who cares about characters, this anime will put you through the wringer. The first season is 20 episodes long and the second season is currently airing, in case you wanna watch something still ongoing

-Psycho Pass: in the near future, your mental health dictates what kinda jobs you're allowed to get. If it gets too low you're immediately branded a criminal and if it gets even lower the cops are legally allowed, and in fact encouraged, to kill you. The police use people who've gotten low, but now at the lowest levels, to help them aprehend the worst criminals. I have mixed feelings about this one, but it's definitely worth checking out

-Cowboy Bebop and Trigun: some oldies to shake things up. These both begin with more episodic, self-conclussive adventures and slowly start to unfurl into an overarching plot. If you're more used to current anime you might find them slow, but they are both very good and very worth watching even now

what can i say… i love chaos. yet again, all five competitors are actually amazing, but i cannot go past joe wilkinson - highlights included the iconic potato throw, and him misreading “potato” as “pony”.

paul chowdhry

there is so much i could say about paul… he was so unbelievably awful - it was INCREDIBLE. i will never get over “it’s a snowbear, innit”. forever etched in my memory <3

season 4

noel fielding

i love all five of these contestants but, much like season 1, i’ve been a fan of noel forever. his absurdly creative and beautiful mind led to some incredible outcomes, and i just adore him so much.

season 5

mark watson AND nish kumar – aka: ‘wumar’

yes i know i said contestant singular, but this season is literally perfect and it would be a crime to distinguish between these two. they are the perfect team, and individually they are incredible. i love these two very much.

season 6

asim chaudhry

to be completely honest, this is my least favourite season - where all the other series are s-tier or a-tier, this one is just… eh. nevertheless, i love asim, and there were plenty of fun moments !!

season 7

james acaster

i’m a HUGE fan of james - fun fact: his was the first (+ currently only) live comedy gig i’ve been to. james on taskmaster is absolute chaos, and seeing as he’s a fellow taskmaster nerd, his performance in the scavenger hunt task was impeccable. i, yet again, love all five of these competitors, but i just adore james.

season 8

joe thomas

i don’t think i am mincing my words when i say joe thomas is the weirdest human being i’ve ever seen. as such, i’m immensely in love with him. he is one of two contestants (also see: season 11) that i wasn’t aware existed before their season, and subsequently fell in love with them. the moment the preview task was released (that being this task), i became obsessed with joe. “oo get together” haunts my dreams, as does his attempt at moving the beachball with only water.

season 9

ed gamble and rose matafeo (yes, i’m weak)

it’s almost a crime to pick between ed and rose, and i just couldn’t bring myself to do it. this season is impeccable, and all five comedians are iconic. ed getting mad at david baddiel in the live task has stayed with me, and rose’s rendition of the taskmaster theme tune was perfection. might i also add, had jo brand put in any effort, she would’ve easily won and i love her.

season 10

richard herring

herring is the ultimate taskmaster nerd, and i love him for that. i love the other four so much, but i cannot get past richard, especially after his one-man performance of ‘the smart steak’. also i just need to add that katherine parkinson must be protected xo, and daisy is too powerful.

season 11

mike wozniak and lee mack – aka 'woznimack’

lee mack is far too iconic for him not to be one of my favourites. i’m such a huge fan of him, having watched WILTY? for a very long time. he is somehow more chaotic than i imagined he could be, which is saying a lot. i cannot, however, begin to tell you how much i love mike wozniak. considering i didn’t know who he was before the show, i am head over heels for this man. it is what i like to call 'the joe thomas effect’, where i discovered mike on taskmaster, then proceeded to find all possible content that he was in. both luckily and unluckily, there is literally so little content - i am STARVED rip. but yes, mike wozniak <3.
