One of the ways you can make this glow up happen is if you really enjoy your life and what you do. Try to practice your hobbies more and work on bettering your natural talents, by doing that you may find your purpose in this world and this will lead to the biggest glow up ever.. for some it may lead them to their dream career.

It can be about makeup, diet, exercise, skin care, personal development etc.. this is a general reading so I cannot be exact but whatever your case is it will lead to a HUGE glow up. Two of the cards are talking about some « secret knowledge » so whatever it is it will be significant for you.

This pile is very different from the first one as the glow up that appears here is not just about one or two things in your life or looks, it’s about everything. something I’ve been thinking about is like, the internet is this magical system of technologies, never before seen in human history, and one of its capabilities is to answer virtually any question you ask of it. Which is not even remotely a novel observation obviously lol. But I’m thinking about this in the context of a point that Adorno & Horkheimer made (in The Culture Industry I think?) about the radio: that to expedience the radio, to live in a social context where there is this vast incomprehensible system of technological infrastructure that you do not understand or control, and which allows you, a mere peasant, to listen to news broadcasts, music, and advertisements, is effectively like listening to the voice of god. Like the average person’s relationship to modern telecommunications is so mystifying, incomprehensible, and abstract that we experience technologies like the radio as an all-powerful, indestructible authority, and this (obviously) shapes our relationship to the information that is shared through it. People make jokes on here about how transmission towers are angels, but like tbh that is essentially how we experience them - vast, incomprehensible, highly dangerous objects whose impact on our lives are at once all-consuming and unknowable. We do not just turn on the radio and listen to the news, we tune into what the voice of god has to say today - right now he’s selling toilet cleanser!

and all that to say, I always find something a bit incomplete about discussions about wilful ignorance online - that we live in an age of mass information and yet people still seem as ignorant as feudal peasants, or whatever. Nobody googles things, nobody tries to branch out and experience new kinds of art, nobody educates themselves on important topics they don’t understand. and like this frustration is very real and well taken, I feel it frequently, but what I’m grappling with is whether this is the correct framing - that maybe “why don’t people just google things” is the wrong question to ask, because I tend to find the explanations offered unsatisfactory. Like specifically I’m thinking of discussions on here that are about like, “anti-intellectualism”, kids these days are so ignorant even though they grew up with the internet, reading comprehension is piss poor, and so on. Recently I’ve seen a lot of weirdly moral-panicky posts about children not knowing how to type on computers because back in my day we were forced to learn how to touch-type by age 8 even though we couldn’t look up any tutorials on YouTube to help us, etc etc. And like I just do not buy that people are individually choosing to be ignorant, that people are “getting dumber,” and that this state of getting dumber is inversely related to the amount of information we have access to (which makes “getting dumber” even more dumb). An unstated assumption that goes into a lot of these “anti-intellectualism” discussions is that “information” is this universal object that has a standardised enlightening effect on the people who interact with it - that the only reason to have an ignorant, sheltered, or ill-formed opinion on something is because you have individually chosen not to Look At Information that will cure you of your ignorance. And so going back to the god radio thing, having regular access to the google search bar is not just having access to an encyclopaedia or dictionary - it is like having a direct line of communication to god, this authority that can answer any question you ask of it. But it’s not just one answer, it’s many answers, more answers than you could ever possibly read through. Google reports the number of hits it returns for whatever you type in - you will regularly get millions of answers to your question. And these answers are embedded with advertisements, just as radio news broadcasts are. Like if god is selling you toilet cleanser while telling you the number for a suicide hotline or news about what’s happening in the world, how do you psychologically deal with that, how is your relationship to capital-I Information shaped by this relationship?

The corollary to “we live in an age of mass information” is “we live in an age of mass misinformation,” but they both show up as answers on google (again, not a novel observation). but in the face of that how do you not simply stop asking questions? & of course this decision to stop asking questions is given form and substance by social circumstance, it reinforces systemic privileges and violences, and so this decision is not one free from consequence, and in many cases it is not an innocent decision. a white person deciding not to read the news because it’s too hard to figure out what is happening/too frightening/etc has the consequence of reinforcing the white supremacist outlook that is foundational to the social context of white people because they’re not reading anything that challenges that outlook. ignorance has many social contexts and many of them are violent. etc. like the consequence of “why does nobody google anything” is just a continuation of the status quo, just with this supposedly glaring and easy fix to it (simply google it). but that just leads us back to a discourse of individual choice, of people individually choosing not to “google shit.” it is a deeply individual fix to a systematic social problem. and so maybe the question is not, why doesn’t anyone google shit, but rather, why is the primary delivery system of knowledge a god that sells you toilet cleanser

Below are some habits and rules to keep in mind throughout your studies and some tips that will elevate your learning experiences.

☆ Setting boundaries and learning to say no

It is always easy to say yes and join every social event that one is invited to, however its crucial to consider your own personal life and the consequences of your decisions. Hanging out with friends is a needed event as a social creature, however it's better to exercise caution and know when to say "no" to focus on your own goals and dreams. Don't get pulled into the pace of others and focus on finding a routine and schedule that works for your own benefit.

☆ Being comfortable with your own company

You will find in uni that there are lots of times that you will spend alone, and maybe feel a little anxious that you're the only person who isn't constantly in the company of someone everyday like you maybe were in high school. However, realise that even the time to yourself is a time of value, and treasure those moments to focus and work on your own goals. It is easier to get lost and lose sight of your ambitions when with others who don't have the same aspirations as yourself. Use your own time to sit down and work out what you want to achieve and quietly put in the effort to win.

☆ Never being scared to ask questions

It can be quite daunting to ask questions in lectures, so I prefer to ask my questions during times that aren't forced into a short time interval, such as tutorials, office hours, and other forms of learning support that your university/college provides. This way there is no rush to answer my questions and take my time in working through concepts and ideas. Ask questions based on your own conclusions, questions that challenge current rules and perspectives. Think deeper into your lessons and seek to make use of every bit of information.

☆ Being curious

This is very much related to the point above, that being that personal interest really aids with the brains memory retention. The more things you approach with an enthusiastic attitude, the easier it is for your brain to remember and categorise. Having curiosity, even if it is forced, gives a great advantage where you seek to interconnect the information you learn with other data, and grow more networks of neurons that allows your brain to stay healthy and active.

☆ Initiating contact

Struggling with a theory or assignment? Great, it shows that you are actively trying to understand a concept and working your brain muscles. Now the best way to comprehend or complete what you are struggling with is to access support materials. Still difficult? Reach out. Your teachers, professors, tutors are all there for your benefit. Use them intelligently and squeeze every drop of assistance and support from them while they are still available to you.

☆Watching educational content to aid your studies

You can never lose from learning a bit more every day. However make sure to fact check and find your information from trusted and quality sources. In general, it's always a win to be educated in various topics from health, sciences, arts, humanities and more to gain a better understanding of ourselves, our world, and humanity.

Summary:

☆Your brain needs a workout as much as your body. And reading fiction seems to be one of the best workouts you can get. (I recommend quality fiction, with that being classic literature because it genuinely exercises your mind with its intricate language techniques and diverse vocabulary)

I'm sorry but I absolutely lose my mind over them ( I have literally no one who I could ramble about this to and I need to get it out). I want to analyse stuff, so let me just:

It's visible that they are good friends and have been since the time when Doc deviated, research partners doing... research? Or whatever researchers do *shrugs*.

But there's one thing to it, X created Doc and most of other androids. He understands what is deviation because Doc explained it to him but his friend is still an android after all. We also know that X always calls Doc "Docm" but in previous comic he calls him "Doc" and it is stated that it's the first time he ever called him that. In which moment he calls him that? In the moment when he realises that Doc is more human than android now, I may be delusional about this all but I just feel like: the moment when he sees Etho overpower Doc, shove him and break him and stuff, Xisuma sees that Doc isn't a fearless machine but a someone, a human, he got overpowered by Etho and suffered consequences, he felt fear like a human not a machine. Also he lost his arm because he was trying to stop Etho from hurting X as we see in the second part of the comic, which only adds to that. So, this is the moment where X fully realises that he means something to Doc, not as a creator, but as a friend, and that's why for the rest of the comic he constantly makes sure if his partner is alright by talking to him, glancing at him. You know stuff. He grew closer and closer to Doc as time passed and I think this was the climax - the moment he called Docm77 "Doc".

While Doc is doing the most stoic stuff ever and trying not to self destruct and stuff, he cares about X too, very much even, he's protective towards him and shows it by jumping into danger he could have avoided [ Etho attacked X because he's an admin and probably knows where's Grian - Etho wants to hunt down this pesky bird for killing Bdubs] just so his partner won't get hurt how sweet <3 RIP arm you will be remembered...

Anyways I feel like they should talk about stuff and maybe cuddle and maybe I don't know LIVE?? NOT DIE??

Yeah, I think that I don't even need to explain for how long they've been spinning in my head.

yeah, ik, its promo time again. BUT this time around i do wanna add in the post both my cousin and niece

one thing i did get wrong, heartz is my niece, starz is my cousin! this will basically be going over what each of these 2 do (...and im also adding in a bonus competitor/promoed person, well actually 2 because I GOT A CHANNEL YIPPEE)

Hi I just started embroidering two weeks ago but I’m also interested in cross stitching. Can you explain the difference between the two (if there is any)?

I can try! Bear in mind that I'm self-taught in a "keep stabbing it til it looks right and turn to books/YouTube only if I'm really stuck" way, so people who were actually trained could probably do this better, and I'm open to being corrected.

Cross stitch is a type of embroidery where each stitch forms an X. It's often, but not always, done on Aida cloth, which looks like this:

Each X covers a square of the cloth, so the result is a bit like pixel art:

If you have a line of stitches of the same colour, a lot of people will do a line of half-stitches, then work their way back (called the Danish method):

That's really down to preference. Personally I switch between Danish and English (where you complete each X before moving on to the next one) depending on the geometry of the pattern I'm working on. The main thing is that the top arm of each X should be facing the same way to keep the piece looking tidy.

That's the basic idea, and there are plenty of patterns out there that only use cross stitches. Some patterns will also use back-stitching for outlines or details. Generally you do the cross stitching first, then back-stitch over top.

The majority of what I do is actually blackwork, which is related to cross stitch in that it's a type of counted work (each stitch covers a set number of threads of the fabric). I mostly use Aida cloth, but any evenweave fabric would work. There are a number of different styles of blackwork, but the one I do most often involves back-stitching geometric motifs to fill a section of a larger design. The pattern will show lines on a grid corresponding to the grid of the cloth:

A few things that might help if you're getting into cross stitch:

Aida cloth comes in different sizes. You'll see it labeled as 11-count, 14-count, 18-count, etc. That tells you how many squares/stitches there are per inch, so your stitches on 18-count will be much smaller than on 11-count.

If you buy 6-strand embroidery floss, you'll want to separate it into individual strands. If you're cross stitching, then usually the lower the count of your fabric, the more strands you'll need to make each X form a solid square and avoid having fabric show between your stitches. I use fewer strands with blackwork, because it keeps the lines sharp and makes the motifs stand out better. The pictures above are on 18-count. I used 2 strands for the cross stitch, and 1 strand for the blackwork (note that varying the number of strands can also be a method of shading in blackwork, but I haven't really used that technique before).

Some stitchers will tell you that the back of your work should look as neat as the front. If you want to aim for that, go for it. I'm really only careful about the back of my work if I know it's going to be visible in the finished piece; other than that, my backs are chaos and I'm fine with that.

This was at best a really basic overview of cross stitch. Some patterns use things like half-stitches and three-quarter-stitches to get different effects or smoother shapes. Some patterns will call for higher count cloth (like 28-count or more) and have each stitch cover two threads instead of one (called working "over 2"). There are all sorts of YouTube videos and tutorials that cover these things better than I can, but feel free to ask any questions you have, and I'll do my best.

My FNAF AU has been sorted out. In the sense that the timeline has been re-written enough that I can go back to drawing it..

Now the next comic in the AU is a re-write/re-draw of my old FNAF comic, Moon Malfunction. A few months ago though there were several time sensitive projects that came up and I needed to shelf Moon Malfunction 2.0 until they were done. Well now they're all done.. but Moon Malfunction is gonna take me some time to get around to..

For the past few months I've been in a really bad spot mentally and physically. And taking on my FNAF Recap/Repair project is just not something I feel I have the mental energy to do at the moment.. All it feels like is a one big pile of work. And all I wanna do I just draw what ever comes easily to me and focus on recovering..

Soooo for the time being,, my main FNAF AU might not see any updates for a bit.. Though I haven't forgotten about it and I do want to get back to it at some point soon. But for now I want to cut any work out of my relaxing/drawing time and just draw what ever I want. Which atm is pirate cookies-- <XDD

One of the topics for this episode was "Measures against the rainy season". Here's my favourite umbrella which I talked about in the podcast☂️💕It's very cute. I want to use it a lot during the upcoming rainy season🙄Someone mentioned in their message that "the air pressure during the rainy season is tough." I feel the same. During this time of year, the air pressure and humidity are likely to make you lose your energy. Don't forget to stay hydrated and it's best to do some light exercises to get through the rainy season in good health! 🥺

And since it is also Father's Day, I wanted everyone submit "Stories about your father" as a second topic for the podcast. By the way, I had completely forgotten, but my father was really into magic 😅He liked to do magic tricks with cars ♧♤♡♢Here is his very own card set. He would always bring out playing cards and perform some tricks wherever he was. He would even do little performances in front of my friends 😂He never let me in on the mechanics behind his tricks but he was definitely really good. Now, I would like to talk some more about my trip to Yokosuka‼️⛱🏄🌊I already talked about it in my podcast so in this blog post I want to share some photos from the first big part of my trip when I visited the "Toshio Suzuki and Ghibli Exhibition" held at Yokosuka Museum of Art! (I'll post about my experience in Sarushima=Monkey Island in a few days!!) Speaking of Ghibli, some people were curious if I had gone to the Ghibli exhibition so yes, you finally have your answer😊 You are greeted by Chihiro at the entrance. My excitement skyrocketed right from the start😊The curtain leads to an exhibition of 8,800 books displayed in a huge bookshelf. Each book is believed to have influenced Suzuki in some way. Another source of inspiration is his collection of movies which contains a whopping 10,000 films. I was surprised at the number of movies, he must have absorbed so much information from all these works. I want to become a part of the Suzuki family. It's cut off, but at the top of the photo there is Teto's beautifully drawn paw. I also really liked the drawing at the bottom center signed with "Miya-SAN on the Cliff by the Sea". Then I I met Totoro and his friends surrounded by a starry sky♡ I should have taken this photo with an umbrella~😭Here I am looking up at The Bathhouse with Chihiro. While I was there, I imagined Haku getting mad at me and telling me to get back right away because I shouldn't have come! Next I got myself one of Yubaba's fortune telling slips. What an impact😂 You pull out a numbered tag from Yubaba's mouth and then take your fortune slip from the drawer according to the number. It looked like I was trying to floss Yubaba's teeth. I got a half-blessing related to tidying up and becoming clutter-free. Last but not least, I enjoyed the wide and open sky on the rooftop 😂

This time, I bought a file, a letter set, a keychain, and postcards at the souvenir shop 😊 I love the keychain of San's mask😍 I will send one of these postcards to everyone whose messages I've read during the podcast😊 ...And with that my Ghibli story comes to an end. Or not!! Actually, my Ghibli adventure isn't over yet😇 I still have a few Ghibli photos and stories left so I will post a Part 2 some time soon!! I also have a story about a crazy stamp rally that felt like a sports competition😂

aww thank u so much !! i actually collated a few resources for my friends about bookbinding so u r in luck ⭐:)

but before all that, i want to mention the most important thing and it is to always get the permission of the author of the fic you're wanting to bind first and to never print any art related or not to that fic without the artist's permission !!!!! let's keep it respectful in these streets yeah? BUT printing your own art though.. that's a slay 🤞🏽

bookbinding tools & materials (beginner friendly) - super helpful + in depth, i recommend starting with this one to really get a good idea of the entire process (she specializes in journals though so it doesn't include printing process or anything like that!)

14 helpful hints before getting started - very very useful hacks that will probably save you a lot of mistakes in the long run, also i love this man (one thing i have to mention though is that paper grain is not entirely important unless you're looking for a more advanced bind)

how to bind fanfic tiktok series - this is a good one that has a step by step guide which includes the typesetting + printing process

tutorial focused videos

DIY book press - very useful + efficient, but if you can't be bothered to make this (like me oops) you can just use really heavy books or weights

DIY binding cradle - essential tool to punch holes in your signatures, honestly saved me money and also my life, once again i love this man where would i be without this tutorial

french link stitch - easy to follow, has some good sewing tips too!

weaver’s knot - important hack, you don't want your thread to be too long when sewing it's a nightmare

hardcover case binding - good tutorial on hardcover but this one is flatback - it's still fine to follow though if you switch the spine to card stock to give it more flexibility especially if it's a thick book

My Tutorial on How to Manifest Your Hunky-Dory Dream Life

This was a request from an anon. So I'm gonna make a tutorial on how to manifest your dream life my way.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steps:

1.) Choose what you want in your dream life. Get creative. Do you want to live in a fantasy world with dragons? Do you want to get accepted into a fantastic college? Do you just wanna chill with your best friends and smoke weed everyday? It's up to you, choose what you want. Make it fun!

Optional Step.) Write down what you want. Draw pictures about it, create vision boards about it on pinterest. You don't have to do this step if you don't want to it is completely optional.

2.) Decide whether or not this is what you want to manifest. If this is what you want to manifest continue onto step number three.

3.) It's done! Congratulations. Your order on the LOA/Non-dualism store is complete and is out for delivery! Creation is finished! It is finito! You have it! It is coming into your physical reality at the speed of light! Hell, you can even say it's coming into your physical reality (real life) instantaneously!

4.) Woah it literally manifested into your physical reality (real life)! You have it now and I'm not manifesting when I say that. Congratulations! 🥳

Q: Do I have to affirm?

A: Nope!

Q: Do I have to visualize?

A: Nope!

Q: Do I have to script?

A: Nope!

Q: What if I get doubts?

A: Doubts don't affect your manifestation. Do you want them to affect your manifestation?

Q: What if I complain about my manifestation? Does that slow it down or cancel it out?

A: No. Think about this- you can can complain about the apple in your hand. You can complain about how red it is, you can complain that it's in your hand, you can whine and wish you weren't holding it in your hand. But like, the apple is in your hand. Complaining doesn't stop the apple from being held in your hand.

It's the same way with manifesting. Complaining doesn't stop your manifestation from coming.

Like imagine if you went on Temu, bought some shorts, and then after you ordered them you started to complain about them not being in your house. It doesn't matter how much you complain about the shorts not being in your house, they are being processed and will be delivered soon. The only way you cancel your order is if you cancel it.

So the only way you cancel your manifestation is simply by choosing you don't want it anymore. Like by just choosing or deciding you don't want it anymore.

Q: How do you decide you don't want your manifestation anymore?

A: Just say or think, "I don't want my manifestation anymore."

Q: I'm confused?

A: What about? Leave me an ask.

Q: Why isn't my manifestation here yet?

A: Because it's coming, You have it in your mind. Now it's coming in real life (the physical reality A.K.A. the 3D). You're not doing anything wrong.

Q: I don't want it in my imagination, I want it in real life though?

A: Yes, and it is coming.

Q: Is there anything else I'm supposed to do other than know that it's done?

A: You don't have to know that it's done. It's coming regardless. All you have to do is choose if this is something you want and then it manifests. Literally think of it as online shopping.

Q: So since this is like online shopping can my LOA card get declined?

A: Haha! No of course not, it's all free!

Q: So what else do I do now that it's done?

A: I dunno, watch a movie, go outside, talk to your friends, play a videogame.

Q: What about living in the end? Do I have to live in the end?

A: No. Its done so why do you have to live in the end? And again if "it's done" is too hard for you to think just say that it's coming.

No, living in the end is just for fun. It's completely, totally unnecessary.

Q: Do I need to get into a state?

A: No. It's done. There's no reason for you to do anything manifestation related because it's done.

Q: Well I have to pay my bills. How do I live in the end while I'm broke?

A: Well that's unnecessary to be completely honest. But if you really want to do that just say you have it in your mind and it will come into the physical reality (the 3D, real life).

Q: Why is it taking so long?

A: I dunno. You're not doing anything wrong though. Just say you manifest instantly.

Q: How do I speed this up?

A: Just say you manifest instantly. Or you can say your 3D conforms instantly.

Q: Do my negative thoughts manifest?

A: No. Do you want your negative thoughts to manifest?

Q: I've overconsumed! What do I do?

A: I dunno I think you're fine. Just take a break I guess. Don't worry, I was confused, too.

Q: So it's this simple? Just decide I have it/it's coming?

A: Yep!

Q: How do I know you're not bullshitting me?

A: *this is gonna be a long one* Because it feels good. Look at all the answers I've given you and when you think about it, when you read it and when it makes sense to you you'll realize just how relieving it really is.

Think about your entire LOA/ND journey. Look how far you've come. And yet you're still being confused about LOA and you've know about this for weeks, months, hell even years. Yet everyone keeps saying, "It's so simple, it's so effortless, it's so easy." Yet you can't even manifest a penny and it definitely doesn't feel good, simple, effortless, or easy.

But now that you've read that it's done and it's coming and that's it doesn't that at least lighten the load? Even a teensie bit? Doesn't that make it feel a bit better? Doesn't this feel a little easier?

Think about this: I've just told you that you can whine, complain, rant, vent, sabotage your manifestations, I've just told you that you don't have to live in the end to get what you want. Frankly, right now I'm even telling you that complaining about it only makes it come even faster!

How does that make you feel? Doesn't that feel better? A little bit? You don't have to read Edward Art or listen Neville just to get your SP! Isn't that nice?

Listen, it was about two weeks ago that I came to this conclusion. You know how everyone always says, "You create your own rules?" It wasn't until I was reading this one success story on Zen-shu's blog (I think) that it really really REALLY clicked. You create your own rules. Read that again. You. Create. Your. Own. Rules. Read that again.

You DO NOT have to do anything to get what you want! How relieving is that? No more affirming, no more scripting, no more focusing on the illusion of the ego, no more states. It's done! Literally you don't have to do anything else!

And how do I know this works? Because right now I'm manifesting myself to be a hermaphrodite (I'm a boy) and I'm starting to look like a girl. My ass is fatter, my hips are wider, my eyes are more feminine, I've almost completely gotten boobs. It works!

Q: I want to give up.

A: I don't blame you.

Q: Will I still get it if I give up?

A: Yes of course. Again it's like ordering something online. Just because you say, "Oh I give up!" doesn't stop your order from being delivered to you. The only way you stop your order from being delivered is if you cancel it (as in going on the website and cancelling it). So the only way to stop your manifestation is to simply say you don't want it anymore.

There's a lot of manifestation stories where the person is like, "I give up!" and then they end up still getting what they want.

Q: So what about imagining? Do I have to imagine?

A: Nope! You only imagine if you want to. Personally I do it for fun and let me tell you it is incredibly fun.

Q: What does "imagination is a real as the 3D" mean?

A: Just what it says! What you have in your imagination is as real as real life. The only difference is that it's gonna take some time to manifest into real life (physical reality). But don't worry, it won't take long!

Also can I just say... when I realized my imagination is as real as real life imagining became more fun!

Q: Will that make me crazy?

A: No. It won't make you crazy unless you want it make you crazy. See, the best part about all this is because it's in your imagination you can enjoy it RIGHT NOW in your mind even though it is coming into your physical reality soon. So you can still know the difference while having what you want! Isn't that awesome??

And if you don't want to do that just say it's coming. You don't have to pretend. You don't have it physically right now. And that's OK. You will soon though.

A: ;)

Q: What have you manifested?

A: Well aside from my body shape, I've manifested a mini freezer, my sister have a dream about me riding a dragon when I was listening to a dragon subliminal, my imaginary friend almost manifesting physically (and I mean to the point I could feel her physically put her hand on my face), my health, a woman teleporting when I was walking in Walmart, my mom winning the lottery (just like $4.00 lol), I can't remember what else.

Q: Do you have any tips for me?

A: When all else fails just say you're not doing anything wrong and you'll get what you want.

Hi again :)) sure I can answer this, this is going to be a very long post so I'll put my answers under the cut.

Same disclaimer as last time that all this is just what has worked for me or what I've personally observed, that doesn't mean this is all objectively correct or factual. Others will have different mileage or find other things that work even better.

Social Media

The three platforms I prefer the most are Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter.

General recommendations:

Respond to people's comments, even with something as simple as a "thank you" for a compliment. This will help build engagement and foster a good relationship with your audience.

Take nice product photos: keep your pin in focus with a nice background and good lighting. Often you only get one chance for your product to leave a good impression!

Pick only a few social media profiles to manage. Don't stretch yourself too thin such that you can't engage with your audience on all your social media.

Find your niche! It’s easier to gain followers for a specific type of merch (such as, angels) than for a broad range.

Tumblr

Posts have a long but sporadic lifespan thanks to the queue (sporadic means, they will exhibit random bursts of activity). And you can post large image sets and long text posts with links, for this reason it is my favorite platform.

Getting a following on Tumblr is largely luck-based. Users rebel against posts being pushed into their feed by the recommendation algorithm or boosts. Users find posts via other users and not so much the tags, although the tagging system is leagues better than Instagram's (which no longer shows most recent posts and only shows popular posts).

On Tumblr I get the most traffic from:

Responses to user submissions - for example, drawing people's angel requests.

Tag yourself posts

Silly or cute doodles and comics - especially if people can overlay their fandom darlings onto these posts.

Compilations of Pride-related designs, particularly of popular flags

I have noticed over the years, people do not reblog as much as in the past, so it's harder to get your posts noticed.

Instagram

In my opinion this is the easiest platform to grow an audience on. Instagram has a very predictable set of criteria for showing your posts to other users, through personal experience it is something like this:

Post once a day.

Post one Reel a day.

No more than three Story shares.

If you deviate from this for too long, or post too many times in a day, Instagram will deprioritize showing your posts to other users. This schedule can be a lot, so if possible I recommend having a buffer of saved up posts and Reels.

Instagram users are pickier about what they like to see. I recommend keeping your profile looking neat and professional; WIPs don't seem to do well there. Instagram users like illustrations and heavily-visual posts; they do not respond well to slides with text on them unless it is a tutorial or tag-yourself post.

Some users like to put memes or other silly images at the end of their posts. I personally don't do this, but I've been told the reason for it is: people share the silly images and that gains more traffic for the post even if they are not sharing the main content.

On Instagram I get the most traffic from:

Fanart of recently popular characters

Tag yourself posts

Pride-related art for popular flags

Cute, colorful illustrated creatures

Anything that asks for audience feedback in the comments. More comments means more engagement, which means it's bumped up in the algorithm.

Hosting monthly art challenges such as Angeltober

Bare chested men

And I have noticed DTIYS challenges are popular and a great way for people to find your profile, although I haven't hosted one of these yet.

Tags on Instagram appear to matter less than in the past, but I still think they are worth using. Try to tag for the content in your post (such as "#biblically accurate angel") instead of using tags for artists or small businesses (such as "#smallbusinessstrong"). Everyone else is using these tags so you have lots of competition, but no one is trawling through those tags so you have less engagement from them. Users are looking for specifically the content they like, they don't care who is posting it.

Twitter

The most arcane out of these three platforms. Getting noticed on Twitter seems to be largely luck-based as well. I had my Twitter profile for a while with little traffic on it until I started posting the new Pride Angels, then it blew up. Hashtags are pretty useless on Twitter and I didn't have many followers before then so I'm not sure why those got popular at that time.

On Twitter I get the most traffic from:

I have a TikTok but I just use it to crosspost my Instagram Reels. I do not have many followers on TikTok, I do not put effort into it, and I dislike the interface. That being said, I have heard from other creators it is way easier than Instagram to grow on if you are willing to make videos and post every day.

A note on blacklisted words

On Twitter, Instagram, and possibly Tumblr too: words like "shop" "link" "commission" etc. may cause your post to be deprioritized. This is because social media platforms do not want you going off of them to some other site to spend money elsewhere. That's why you'll notice people censoring these words ("shop" to "sh0p").

Personally I dislike doing this, it just makes me feel silly, so I don't bother. But I will admit, it hurts my posts. So this is something to keep in mind if you want to do shop promotion on social media.

Shops

The shops I run are, in the order of making them:

Redbubble

The lowest possible barrier to entry for a merch artist: they literally do everything from production to shipping for you, and all you do is provide the artwork. The trade-off is that it's very hard to make any significant money from Redbubble (I make maybe a few cents at most from each sale), and you have no control over the quality of the products.

Etsy

While Etsy can be imposing at first, it is probably the easiest out of all the marketplaces to start out on. There is a lot of information to fill out to get started, so take it slow so you don't get overwhelmed. It does get easier after the first listing. Once you make one listing you can just keep duplicating and changing it a little so you don't have to keep making listings from scratch.

Etsy claims you need ten listings in your shop before you open it, but you can ignore that.

Once you've gotten started, there's lots of little tricks to learn such as letter mail shipping, all about VAT, improving listings, sections, and so on that I could go into more detail on if anyone is interested. For now I'll just focus on the platform itself.

I like that Etsy has a marketplace search, as a customer it is really nice to use. I like that it has one big cart for all the items I am looking at, and that it has a favorites system. I also like as a customer how each shop is uniform; I know exactly how to search through each shop and what format to expect. I do enjoy artists' custom shops but, sometimes their interfaces are tough to navigate.

Etsy is reasonably good at showing your items to people, which is the number one reason I recommend it for beginners. Just make sure to put effort into your listings such as tagging them, adding nice photos, and videos.

They have protection features built-in such as covering refunds if an item is delivered but the customer claims to not have received it. Etsy also enables international shipping with VAT which is great for EU/UK customers. My biggest gripe with Etsy is the fees, which I've already complained about.

Gumroad

Not much to say about Gumroad really. I only use it to list digital items such as PDFs of my lineart. I think it's saved me a few inquiries from people looking for my art for tattoos. Since all that art is for free on social media anyway, I don't charge for purchases on Gumroad. That's just a personal choice though.

Mercari

Not much to say about Mercari either. I use it to list pins from my personal collection, though I've seen a handful of pin makers use it for the pins they've created. I think the Mercari listing creation is atrocious: they like to recommend titles for your items when you upload new images, and will overwrite existing titles.

I've been considering moving away from Mercari, they recently switched their fee model so now buyers pay fees instead of sellers. This means while sellers can lower their prices, buyers get sticker shock and then ask for discounts on top of already-discounted items. I'm only on there because it's the most popular place for second-hand pin selling.

Shopify

So far I've really enjoyed Shopify. The setup was nightmarishly hard, not to turn anyone off of it but it took me literal months. You can import your listings from Etsy to Shopify but then you have to redo all the SKUs, link up photos to variants, and so on. If you have a ton of listings like me it takes a while. If you only have a few it is more worth it or, might even be worth starting out on if you can do sufficient promotion.

The major advantage of Etsy over Shopify is the marketplace feature: if you don't need the help of Etsy to promote your items then Shopify might be the better option to start out on.

I like that Shopify has significantly lower fees vs. Etsy. However, they do payouts differently and in a way I dislike. Etsy will deduct your shipping fees before calculating your payout balance, while Shopify will payout your balance and then charge you for shipping as part of your monthly bill. So you need to make sure to set aside some of your funds always to cover the Shopify shipping charge.

Additionally, to enable certain integrations or features you will need to pay for them monthly, which can add up. To sync my inventory between Shopify, Etsy, and Faire I use Trunk Inventory, which charges me a monthly $60 fee. That's in addition to the monthly Shopify fee.

Faire

I actually hate Faire despite using it. I was going to use Tundra but Faire drove them out of business (lawsuit pending). Now Faire is the only game in town for wholesale so I'm forced to use them, not that it's done me much good since I haven't had any sales there.

I can rant for ages about Faire's horrendous fees and outdated product import. But if you're a beginner you don't have to worry about wholesale selling, so I'll leave that discussion for another time. If anyone wants to hear more from me about Faire they can send another ask.

It's quite hard to give honest reviews of my stockists here, since they might see them so, I'll just share my Linktree for them and you all can investigate on your own and inquire privately.

Newsletter

I used to use Tinyletter but it shut down, so now I use Email Octopus. Here's a referral link, and you can check out my newsletter sign up page here.

Email Octopus doesn't have a newsletter archive, and the interface is more complicated than Tinyletter's, which I dislike; but I like it better than Tinyletter's replacement Mailchimp.

You can try these out for yourself and see which you like better, it really is personal preference. All newsletter services are essentially the same: all you need is a sign up page, a way to store emails, and an ability to send a newsletter to them.

To get people to sign up for your newsletter, I personally recommend always offering it as a choice. For example, if you run a pin campaign, send an update where you share a link to your newsletter to your backers so they have the option to sign up. Do not export their emails and add them to your newsletter without a choice. I have been on the receiving end of this as a backer/customer and it makes me feel bad: it's extra emails in my inbox I didn't agree to and it feels like the creator misusing my information even if technically they are not. As a fellow creator I totally get why others might do this, it's an effective way to get lots of new newsletter signups at once. I just don't personally like it.

Shopify has a built-in newsletter feature you can use as well if you make a Shopify storefront. From your dashboard you can go to Marketing > Create campaign.

I like to send out a shortened newsletter via Shopify. Usually what I do is copy my full newsletter from Email Octopus to Shopify, and remove any bits not directly related to my Shopify, such as news on crowdfunding campaigns.

Writing your newsletter

Writing a newsletter doesn't take much time, and I think it should be a low effort task. In fact, if you make it too long people will not read it.

Throughout the month leading up to a shop update I will update my newsletter with whatever new items are ready, taking only a few minutes here and there. I include a few photos and I make sure to link to the items once they are listed (truncated example below).

I will also alert people to any sales or other special offers, news about stockists, and crowdfunding campaigns: anything a potential buyer would be interested in.

I have seen other artists share much longer newsletters with impressive graphics, sections on their art process, personal updates - but for myself I usually skip over that stuff in my inbox, so I don't do it as a creator. For others it might be worth the effort!

Hey, I know this is not really splatoon related but can you give us tips of how to draw fat peopll/ink fishes? I always struggle to do so, and i' trying to learn how to do it

I got an ask similar to this a while ago and answered it here! I guess check that out for more of an in-depth overview of how I approach drawing fat inkfish (and people!) myself. There's a lot of good posts and tutorials floating around tumblr about this already (and i'm too lazy to go look for links, but they're out there lol)

I wrote down a lot of general tips in that previous post and I don't really think i have anything to add that other people haven't already said and that i haven't already said myself, so I'll just stress the importance of referencing Real People. As with drawing pretty much anything, you want to understand the mechanics behind it and How It WORKS, and then you'll mostly be chilling... especially with a subject with this much variety in it!

But since I want this answer to have any net value at all and not just be a "well look at this other post i made" referral, i would also like to talk to everybody who is New to drawing fat people or just generally unsure of their ability to do and reassure that you will probably do it badly at first. that's fine, i think i probably did it badly for 10 years. this is how learning art works. it probably won't take you ten years if you actually use references for it though lol

But to save you some time and frustration: give some love to areas that are NOT the stomach or torso. Fat also accumulates in the limbs and the face and you will hit a wall really quickly if you just add a belly and draw stick arms and legs (which also occurs in real body types obviously, but if you're trying to go above Chubby territory it doesn't really work, and most of the time when people struggle with drawing fat people my understanding is that they can't make bigger sizes look correct at All). But to do this effectively you will probably need to learn basic fat distribution, and after you learn this, you will probably be able to eyeball proportions correctly while drawing and also be able to eyeball when they seem off. (This is doubly why I recommend looking at a variety of real people for reference).

And for Inkfish - THE TENTACLES. Don't sleep on the tentacles. Those are part of the body and they are FLESH! Therefore they should also have fat accumulation to some degree. It's a pretty effective visual in conveying higher fat percentage and works the other way around too, if you have a particularly skinny character (which is surprisingly hard to convey in a species with no skeleton, i'm ignoring whatever the FUCK Acht has going on. i'm choosing to believe those are the structure for the gills if we wanted to explain it), you can give them notably thin tentacles and it will help get the point across. Just scale the suckers accordingly if you're into that kind of stuff. They don't change size, so they will look smaller on bigger tentacles and really big on tentacles where there's not much else than the central muscles.

My final beginner tip is stop drawing fat characters with anime boy sharp jawlines. this might work with characters that are just barely chubby but the majority of people will have a double chin or AT LEAST a generally softer jawline. if you're drawing someone who's like, significantly fatter than chubby and they don't have a double chin, it will look like a skinny guy in a fat suit 99% of the time. hope this helps lol.

After finishing a character reference/design/adopt It pretty much is! You're selling both your artwork AND your character design.

You can modify it however you want, but it's not necessary! but DO remember to watermark your art, and I can always give a few watermarking ideas if thats something you guys are interested in! ^^ But once you're done just remember to mention what type of payment you're taking, and how people should contact you! ex: paypal only/ DMS only

Also! pricing can either match the amount of work you put in/you are most comfortable at, or slightly match your personal rent necessities.

for example, my commissions match my personal bill necessities, so when they will open up in VGEN, they will be priced accordingly! To find out what that would look like for you:

take the max amount of people you are willing to take in a commission (lets say you can have up to 10 people in a waitlist) divided by your rent!

so 10÷your rent = Your minimum amount you should make per comm, or at least near it if possible!

It can either be a set price (lets say $45) or it can be up for bid, its up to you! It also helps the buyer to know the AB(auto buy) price when you are doing a bid!

And lastly, Don't ever let anyone tell you your art isn't worth the high prices. So long as you're pricing fairly and accordingly, you're doing just fine!

I’m not sure what I would pick for SILVERee… Maybe pansexual since he’s a big celebrator of love. But regardless of his identity, I see him having a preference towards women, but he is not oblivious to his attraction to men, non-binary, etc.

💔 An angsty headcanon

SILVERee’s manager was secretly working for SOMBRA. When he was starting out, he joined a talent agency to help him grow his fame. Unknown to him, it was a secret SOMBRA front to try and recruit unsuspecting youth. That’s how they were able to use his and others’ music to recruit more children. SILVERee never knew that his management team was so sinister, and after discovering the truth following SOMBRA’s Hunt, SILVERee’s career took a significant hit from losing his management team, and he had to start again almost from scratch.

❤️‍🔥 A romantic headcanon

While he can come off as a playboy and flirt, SILVERee doesn’t have time for relationships due to his busy schedule. But he would like to be in a relationship with someone who isn’t with him for fame. Of course, he knows it's unavoidable that his love life will be displayed for the world to see, but he would still like to find someone who loves his true self and not the singer on stage.

🖕 A headcanon relating to anger

SILVERee has a short temper, especially when things don’t go his way. It earned him the title of “diva,” and people know to follow his orders, or else he’ll (metaphorically) explode. But after receiving therapy for his trauma at SOMBRA’s hands, SILVERee also learned how to control his anger. He still has moments where he lets his anger control him, but he’s getting better at managing his temper.

😭 A headcanon about the worst thing that happened to them

During SOMBRA’s hunt, SILVERee watched a kid get shot in front of him. Their blood splattered onto his face and clothes, but he still believed it was all fake for the “show” and that the blood was artificial. When he found out the Hunt was real, SILVERee realized the blood on him was too. He had a panic attack, and the second he was able to take a shower, he nearly scrubbed his skin off, trying to remove the blood. Even afterwards, he could still see the blood and the guilt of leaving the injured child because he thought it was fake began weighing on him heavily.

😶 A random headcanon

He loves painting his nails. SILVERee finds it therapeutic to paint colourful polishes onto his nails and has even tried nail art. He’s not that good at making designs on his nails, but he’s getting better. He’ll also watch nail art tutorials to learn new tricks and how to keep his nails in good condition.
