Meet the people of Woodward Ranch! To most West Virginians, the place is just a normal animal sanctuary, but to those in the know, it’s a cryptid conservation ranch :)

Wyatt Woodward is the grandson of the man who used to own the ranch (I haven’t figured out that guy yet so…). His grandfather passed and left the ranch to Wyatt in his will, despite Wyatt only having met the man once or twice when he was little. Now he’s tasked with running the place, as well as grappling with the reality that monsters, cryptids, and the supernatural are very very much real

Lucy Lovejoy is a farmhand / wrangler on the ranch. She grew up living there and is miffed that Wyatt was given ownership. She believes she’s entitled to it because she actually knows the place and Wyatt didn’t even believe in the supernatural until he came to the ranch

Dr. Herschel Finch is the ranch’s science boy (that’s probably not the official title) and he does his magic + science stuff to keep the ranch safe as well as be the resident cryptid expert. He’s very chaotic neutral and would probably kill someone…yknow…for science! Nobody really quite knows his history, despite him telling lots of strange backstories about his past.

Denny is a feral little orphan werewolf girl that lives on the ranch and has deemed it her home. She causes trouble for Wyatt because he’s easy to mess with, but she’s also the one (other than the Mothman) who sees him as family the fastest

The Mothman is one of the cryptids who regularly stays at the ranch. He was Wyatt’s grandfather’s favourite, and so Wyatt quickly becomes the new favourite of the Mothman. Just look at him 🥺 he’s so,,,🫶

Bonus:

Cryptoria is Finch’s ex-wife. Nobody on the ranch has actually met her, but Finch’s reasoning for why they got divorced was that “she was evil”. They question why he didn’t take that into account when marrying a literal demon, and also why that was the dealbreaker, seeing as he’s not one to be opposed to some evil from time to time, but he doesn’t elaborate. He does explain, however, that she tried to kill him. Despite that, he also actively laments the relationship, clearly missing his hot demon wife. Cryptoria divorced HIM because she found him annoying. They’re soooo toxic for each other. They’re the kind of exes that simultaneously hate each other but would totally make out again if they had the chance.

Saw this post and couldn't resist because,

1.) @tesscourtes' human!Bill is a lil cutie-patootie menace that I very badly wanted to draw, and,

2.) I have a - M I G H T Y - N E E D - for any version of human!Bill to find any way he possibly can to annoy Ford a whole lot :D

Also, 3.) I like to headcanon that Bill's knowledge in The Sciences is mostly limited to 'Ways I Can Make A Really Cool Doomsday Portal', and everything else he knows is just a slapdash mix of the stuff he remembers from whatever schooling he went through on Euclydia, a whole awful lot of lucky guesses (which he WILL gaslight you about if you tell him he's wrong), and - naturally - conning all the rest of the answers he needs out of any more educated saps who are unfortunate enough to be around him at the time (answers which he will then proceed to take credit for), so as far as I'm concerned, this "outfit" is perfect for him.

Ignore the shitty backgrounds, I am sick to death of doing backgrounds, I just want to draw goofy shenanigans, okay???

So Lucanis is, basically, Caterina's only hope for the Dellamorte family. Illario was a betrayer and disappointment to her and not her favorite, so now it's on Lucanis to continue on the family line. And considering they're her only two grandsons, not sure on if she's the type to expand the family in non-traditional ways.

So Lucanis becomes First Talon, but Caterina is still in charge. And she's so sure that she can still push the pieces and control the board how she wants to. Try to make some arrangements with either allied houses or merchant princes of Antiva. She doesn't even think of Rook as an issue, because it's common for the well-off of Antiva to have paramours.

The issue she doesn't expect is how attached Lucanis is to this guy and how much this guy is attached to Lucanis. Even when Rook is away, wrapping up business with his faction, they're writing disgusting, longing letters to each other, telling each other how they can't wait to be around each other again. And then when Rook is in Antiva when Lucanis is? They're inseparable. Caterina can't get Lucanis to even entertain these choices of hers, normally he just politely rebuffs them. Unless they push too much, then he bluntly turns them down.

And Rook doesn't back down from her like other people tend to do. Even if she tries to convince him to explain to Lucanis it's for the better, he bluntly tells her it's up to Lucanis and Lucanis will choose what he wants. Neither of them can see sense. How can the bloodline and family continue if Lucanis doesn't take a political bride? (Illario: stop acting like I'm dead. Caterina: Was that the wind??)

Eventually, she tries to talk sense into Lucanis, since he's not getting the hint. He's turned down many viable matches and he's not getting younger. And this is the first time, he clearly, firmly, tells her no. He tells her no and doesn't back down, no matter how much she scoffs and scolds him. She tries to explain 'yes you can have him as a lover, it's all just for the inheritance and bloodline for you to wed a well connected woman. Everyone has a paramour.' but he refuses to have Rook just be a paramour.

In fact, out of spite, he goes to talk with Teia about planning a wedding. Same gender weddings were rare, but they're starting to become more and more common across Thedas with various social changes...

So why not make it official?

Some art for my half-baked AU where Ned and Tim first meet as young men at a conversion camp 😗

Ned, who struggles heavily with internalised homophobia, enrols himself, where Tim is forced to go by his mother and father.

They’re supposed to embody a bit of a dichotomy in religiosity and its interaction with conservative religious beliefs around queerness: where Ned finds God in shame and fear, Tim finds God in hope and perseverance, and that then shapes the kind of Christians they grow up to be.
