Introducing Collections

Hello again, Tumblr. Labs division here!

A while back, we announced our comeback as a new team that would imagine big ideas for Tumblr—and would build them in public (aka with you). We recently announced our first failure, and today we're very excited to announce our first possible success!

A bit of context

As we've said before, an essential part of how we're working in Labs is speaking to people who use Tumblr pretty much on a daily basis and those who don’t use it at all.

In those interviews and focus groups, we learned that curating the Tumblr experience around different interests and fandoms is a big part of making Tumblr feel like your own space — and one of the main ways you do that is through blogs and tags (be it following or creating them).

So here at Labs we're working on ideas to help you curate the content you care about, and to help share what makes your experience fun with other people, even if they are not on Tumblr already.

Ok, but what's the idea?

Have you ever put together a song playlist to listen to when you're in a certain mood, or share with a specific friend? Or sent them books you know they'll love? Now imagine if you could do that with blogs and tags on Tumblr…

Maybe you're a veteran in a fandom and have the best recommendations of who to follow for your followers. Or your best friend won't join Tumblr because they don't know that their favorite TV show is actually really popular here. Or maybe you want to curate and browse content from a specific fandom, or a group of your mutuals, your own way.

That's the idea behind Collections!

We want your help

The first way we're testing Collections is by inviting some of you to create your own and share with followers and friends—they'll be able to follow all the blogs and tags in your collections. So we're looking for volunteers!

You want to help? Great! Here's what you need to do:

Come up with your own Collections of blogs and tags, write it down somewhere. Focus on introducing people to Tumblr or recommending stuff to your followers. What would you want them to first see on your version of Tumblr?

Come up with a name, cover image, and description for it. Also try to think of who you would send your collection to, and where you might post about it.

Write out that idea as a reply or reblog on this post!

We’ll give it a few days, and pick a handful of people to play with Collections. We'll let you know. Then we’re off to the races!

If you decide to participate (and get selected), please note that this early release won’t work on the apps yet, only in your web browser. 

What happens next?

Our goal is to keep working on improving and adding Collection functionalities while you test what we've built (and share your feedback with us).

Next we’re exploring making a collection something you can follow on Tumblr, as a way to curate Tumblr around your many interests and moods, and to give you more freedom to curate content on your dashboard.

"Crab cakes, go." James says, eyes darting up from the menu he's holding to look at you from across the rickety staff room table.

You don't miss a beat, describing the dish as you would to a customer, "The crab cakes are one of our most popular appetizers. They're pan seared and served with sofrito escabeche, a zesty blend of onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes—so I highly recommend them if you're looking for something tangy—and they have a to die for berbere aioli drizzle."

"Tell me more about the berbere aioli. What is that?" James questions, playing the part of a curious customer.

"The berbere aioli is a spicy-chili sauce that I'd say is just shy of medium in terms of spice level. It complements the crab cakes really well, but you could always order it on the side if you're not too sure about it."

"That's my girl," James praises, "You're a quick learner, you know that?"

"I don't know about that," you protest, looking down at your hands that lay politely folded on the table in front of you. You try to mentally will yourself not to blush at James' approval.

"It's barely over a week since you started and you know this thing like the back of your hand," James argues, gently tossing the menu down as he leans back in his chair, "And there's so little time to sit and study here."

You have a funny look on your face when you meet James' eyes again, eliciting a gasp from him.

"You've been studying the menu outside of work, haven't you?" he squints, speaking in an accusatory tone.

"Shouldn't I?" you ask, and the fact that it's a genuine question has James clutching his chest over his heart.

"No! You never think about work unless you're getting paid!"

"How else am I supposed to learn this whole menu in a timely manner?" you cross your arms defensively.

"Who said anything about a timely manner, Love. I was weeks out of training before I had the whole thing down."

"Yeah, well you're more..." you trail off, trying to find the words.

"More what?" James is quick to sound defensive.

You put your hands up as a sign of innocence, "Just laid back. You're a go with the flow kind of guy. As opposed to me, who's more-"

James interjects, "Stuck in your head," nodding along without a doubt that that's what you were going to say.

You look at James, a bit of surprise and alarm swirling around in the pit of your stomach. He was spot on, but how could he possibly be? He barely knows you, after all.

"What?" James seems to sense your confusion, "I've noticed the turmoil in those eyes of yours. You're doing it right now."

You look bashful, so James graciously changes the subject.

"Whatever, just promise me you won't ever think about this place when you're off the clock again!"

"Promise," you agree, despite his request being impossible.

For whatever reason, your mind seems to always be on work. Not even in a stressed, overthinking way like you'd expect from yourself. It seemed to be little random tidbits from work infiltrating your mind throughout your days. Like sometimes, you randomly think of a joke James said once. Or you see something funny and want to show it to him. Or you think about how nice James is when you mess something up.

Okay, maybe they're not so random after all.

"What're you thinking about?" James interrupts your thoughts.

Just as you're about to start stammering through an excuse, Mary pops her head into the room.

"There you guys are!" she says, "I just sat you guys. Table six."

"Thanks, Mary. We'll be right there." James responds.

"I had Peter bring them some waters because I couldn't find you guys for a while—oh, he's back today by the way, did you know?" Mary asks, but doesn't stick around for James to answer, "I have to get back. Table six, guys!" Her voice echoes the reminder as she's already disappeared from your sights.

James shakes his head at her, amused by the way she jumps from one thing to the next without taking a breath.

"Peter?" you question as you and James begin to stand from the table.

"Yeah, he does bussing and some food running, a helping hand for us servers, really. He was on vacation." James explains as you follow him out into the dining room.

Your eyes fall on table six, a table for two that beholds two kind looking older ladies.

"You think you can handle this?" James juts his chin in their direction.

"Yeah," you say confidently. You have already taken the lead on some tables while James supervised. So far, it's been going well. Your first table you had to ask James to help answer some questions—maybe that's why you wanted to learn the menu so quick, it made you feel sheepish—but after that one time, James hasn't had any notes.

"Alright, I'm gonna check on our other tables then."

"Wait," you gave yourself whiplash with the way you craned your neck swiftly to look at him, "You meant handle it alone?"

"Yeah," James looks down at you reassuringly, his eyes filled with warmth, "You can do it."

"Uhh-? No, what if I-"

"Get out of that pretty little head of yours," he interrupts, "You've got this."

The sincerity in his tone incited a bit of confidence in you.

"Okay, okay. Okay sure," your shaky voice became a little more steady with each word, and you started walking to the table.

"Wait!" James carefully takes hold of your wrist. The progress you had made in easing your nerves is out the window.

"You'll need this," James slides his server book out from his apron and held it out to you.

"Right," you say quietly, smiling as you took it from him.

His hand fell from your wrist as he bid you good luck. He watches you for a moment as you greet the table, a proud gleam in his eyes.

Marlene appears beside James, a tray of waters and soft drinks balancing on her palm, "Your girl's taking orders on her own now?"

"Just the one table for today," James replies.

Marlene hums approvingly and saunters off to deliver the drinks.

James registers her words only when she's already left, "Wait, my who now?" he asks the wall.

His furrowed brows relax as he decides he kind of likes the sound of it.

After checking on your other tables, getting refills and putting new food orders in, James notices a congregation of his coworkers at the host stand so he decides to join in.

"Who's that?" Peter asks, swinging a rag over his shoulder.

Lily follows Peter's gaze to you, who's delivering some bread and butter to table six.

"James' girl?" Lily questions, "She started last week, she's been doing pretty well so far I think."

"Any reason in particular we're calling her that?" James decides to ask on his approach, having heard that phrase twice in under ten minutes.

"Ah, well, she hardly talks to anyone else." Marlene drawls.

"Eh, she's just a bit skittish," James provides an excuse for you, "it's kind of cute."

Lily and Mary share a look.

James continues, "She'll get used to you guys soon enough, just be nice." He really only says the last part to Marlene.

"I am nice," she defends.

"Well, you're not mean," Mary offers and Marlene scowls at her.

James chuckles, and turns to Peter, "How 'ave you been, mate?"

Peter opens his mouth to share details of his vacation, but he's interrupted.

"What are you all doing up here?" Nate hisses, appearing suddenly as if out of thin air, "You know how bad it looks for nearly my entire staff to be slacking off in the front of the restaurant?"

Before anyone can disperse or defend themselves, Nate continues, "And you're supposed to be training, Potter. Where's your girl?"

"Me?" your choked voice rings from behind him.

Everyone peers over at you, standing there shellshocked and blushing with a pitcher of water in your hands.

Obscutober 2024 Prompt List(s)!

Anyone got room for yet another October Prompt List? 😉

I really wasn’t feeling the Official Inktober Prompt List this year & deeply miss the Obscutober lists nikolas_tower used to post over on Instagram, so I decided to break from tradition even more than I usually do & make my own! ✨

The main idea is each prompt is an Obscure Word, but I did get a little choosy & try to put a bit of my own spin on it!

Before I get into my usual long-winded description, if you want to actually follow this prompt list—Or the Lite or Weekly version—here's what you need to know:

Here's the "Official" Definition list so you don't have to spend time looking up the words yourself if you don't want to...But also, if you do want to, feel free! The "official" definitions are intended as a time-saving guideline!

The list is open to all mediums! "Typical" visual art (Digital or Traditional), Literature, Sculpture, Crafts, Coloring Pages—whatever you want!

The word itself does not have to be directly included/related to what you make; You can just take inspiration from the way it sounds or looks, or something the sticks out to you in the definition, etc.

If a word or two doesn't work for you for various reasons, feel free to swap-in a different word—Either another "obscure" word of your choosing, or a word from another prompt list that you like better.

I've provided "Lite" and Weekly versions of the list in case the full 31 is too much, but you can pick-and-choose words from the full list however you'd like if you're not crazy about the words I picked for the shorter versions, or if you want to shorten the list in a different way.

Remember that my views on these Month-Long Daily Challenges is that it's about the challenge of completing a certain amount of creative pieces in the time given...And that's pretty much it, so as long as you're doing that and having fun, I'm really not bothered about how you choose to follow the list! Well, well, Sparklers—I assume this is quite the surprise coming from me. 🤭 Both because I've been awfully quiet over the past couple of months and this is what I come back with. [And for the record, I intend to explain more about where exactly I've been in a Museletter, but I wasn't able to get it typed up and ready-to-go today; Once I get it ready I'll add the link here.]

Not that me disappearing for a while and coming back with something not necessarily expected of me is all that abnormal, but rather if you've followed me for a while, you might remember I'm not normally super-keen on everyone and their uncle's mother's brother's sister making their own Prompt Lists.

So then, Mystic, what gives? Why make your own Prompt List now?

You can thank nikolas_tower on Instagram for that, actually. 😆 Some of you might also remember that I follow his Obscutober list in October 2021, and I've also swapped in an Obscutober word a couple of times when one of the "official" Inktober words didn't work for me.

I've explained before how much I love the Obscutober concept to its core, so I won't re-hash all of that here. The important part is that I do love it, but to my great sadness, 2022 only got an abbreviated Obscutober list (2 words per week), 2023 didn't get an Obscutober list at all (though I didn't really need one for 2023 because I was busy enough as it was following two other prompt lists at once) and considering just how close we're getting now, I really sincerely doubt Nikolas has/had plans for a 2024 one. Add to that: I was not super jazzed about the official Inktober prompt list for this year. Now, don't get me wrong—I'm normally not thrilled with every single word on the list (and if you've followed my Inktobers' past, you know I say as much during the month!), but I'm not sure I've ever felt quite so unenthusiastic about the whole list before.

Additionally still, some of you might remember I did talk a little bit last year about some...struggles I supposed is the closest word, that I've had with the past couple of Inktobers I've done. And generally, I've had some ideas for really shaking up the way I handle October for the past couple of years.

While, granted, my main "shake-up" idea is totally unrelated even to this list and I never seem to be able to get the necessary prep work it would require done in time, I think the main takeaway is a I've had a low-grade yearning to do something different...but I do still want to stick to my "tradition" of handling Inktober unconventionally.

So in the end, it kinda just made sense to at least try making my own Obscutober-style list this year. It's something different and I've missed the Obscutober lists, so why not?

Worth noting that I did try to put just a little of my own spin on it in my choice of words. While already I did try to stay away from words Nikolas already used for all 4 of his Obscutobers, I also had a couple of "rules" with the words I picked:

No words that are "Obscure" purely because they're not English/aren't found in English dictionaries. For example, "Lunette" is a French word, but it appears in English dictionaries with a definition that's more than just "the French word for..."

The word must have a definition that's relatively easy to find and/or appears in well-established English Dictionaries like Dictionary.com or Merriam-Webster. This rule exists because I noticed pretty quickly a lot of "aesthetic" definition images on Pinterest either don't turn up any other reliable results that a word even exists, or the word may exist but the Pinterest definition is straight-up wrong.

No overly gross/medical/NSFW words. (This wasn't a problem with any of Nikolas' Obscutober picks, this is just a personal preference that did shape my research a bit.)

One of my problems with the Inktober list for this year is too many words feel like synonyms/too closely related, so I wanted to avoid that. A couple of words are still kind of close in the end, like "Vitrine" and "Hyaline" or "Escutcheon" and "Orphrey, but they're still more different from each other than some words that I considered and ultimately turned down. [For example, I considered "Lambent" and "Clinquant" but decided they were too close in meaning to "Scintillate."]

Likewise, aside from the theme of being Obscure, I tried not to lean to heavily on words that fit a particular theme or idea

I tried not to pick "obscure" words that have become decently well-known or popular because they're obscure. The best example is "Aglet" wasn't even considered because it's been mentioned in multiple TV shows that I know of. "Scintillate" might push that boundary a little, but it is one of my personal favorites.

I also tried to pick words that had a little variety in definition length and not pick too many that had really short definitions, which ties into my next point...

More abstractly, I tried to pick words that feel like they both lend themselves to a really solid image but also leave room for interpretation of that image. Historically I've had problems with Inktober words feeling too much like they really only fit one specific interpretation of the word or they only have so many ways to represent the idea. And on the flip side, some of Nikolas' Obscutober picks (at least when I participated in 2021) felt a little too abstract at times. Ultimately, this feeling is probably highly subjective, but I tried my best to find the right balance anyway.

While not perfectly balanced, I did try not to lean too heavily on one type of word, as in Adjectives/Nouns/Verbs. There are still less verbs overall because it was just harder to find verbs that fit what I wanted, but if I hadn't consciously paid attention there probably would've only been 1-2 verbs and like 20 adjectives.

Not really related to adding "my own spin," but also worth noting that it was also important to me to provide "Lite" and Weekly versions of the list the way that Nikolas did for Obscutober II to make it easier for people that just don't have one-thing-every-single-day kind of time to feel welcome to still participate in some way. As stated in the description for those, you can just jump around the list however you like, but I know sometimes it's just easier if someone already lays things out that way for you instead of having to remember to leave things out and such.

And then for the visual list design, I did a mixture of Nikolas' Obscutober list style and my own more typical branding elements, which ended up working out much better than I expected; I wanted the "spirit" of the list to be recognizable to fans of Nikolas' lists without being an exact copy/looking too much like I was trying to "pretend" to be him or something, and I think I landed in a pretty good place. [And in case anyone is wondering, yes I did use my own template to make the list!]

I do have to admit to you Sparklers though that despite going through all that trouble, I'm actually still not 100% sure I'll be following the list myself. 😅 I've gone back and forth over how exactly I want to handle October at all this year so much...I definitely want to (and intend to!) do a Daily Challenge, especially given how spotty my uploads have been over the last year, but I just can't seem to settle on one full-fledged plan that I'm completely satisfied with.

I do have one potential idea I'm considering that already has a very specific alternate list, but pretty much all of my other ideas would normally use the official Inktober list, and so since that list isn't on the table for me this year, and it's really looking like DeviantArt isn't doing Drawtober again this year—Which I find incredibly sad, by the way!—I need another list on-hand that I know I can use and be reasonably happy with.

And for the record, I'm being intentionally coy about that one specific idea and not sharing that list because it's highly specific and if I do decide to go that route in some way, I'd like the main idea to be a least a little bit of a surprise.

But even if I don't use this list myself, I thought at least a few other people might enjoy giving it a try. After all, I wasn't the only one that enjoyed Nikolas' Obscutobers—I originally found out about them through another person entirely. So maybe a few other people are feeling that Obscutober void, or maybe you're just a big Word Nerd™ like me, or maybe you just want something that's a little different still from a lot of the more typical alternative prompt lists that have been floating around.

So, whatever the case, here the list is (and the Lite and Weekly versions, too); Let us all do with them what we will! 😉

Before I go, I will offer an apology to anyone who's disappointed or frustrated that I'm posting the list so close to time to use it—Believe me, if I'd been 100% sure I wanted to make it in the first place sooner, I would have gotten it out much sooner, too! But I'm doing the best I still can by getting out with this very tiny 2-day cushion instead of just dropping it right on the 1st. If the list turns out to be something you Sparklers want to see again next year, I promise I'll do my best to get it out with a lot more advance notice next time!

A: I could've lost (some or all) interest in your fandom. I may have forgotten why I followed you, especially if what you're posting has changed. Or I might be wanting to reduce the discourse I see.

✨Q: Am I blocked?

I tend to ignore and block false accusations, rumors, and kink shamers instead of giving them a huge audience by responding or addressing it.

A: Maybe. The most common reasons I block are for policing or judging what others post, kink shaming, or gossip / spreading harmful rumors. Shit can make its way back to me one way or another.

If I see harmful takes in the wild or targeted harassment of a writer or reader minding their own business: blocked. And if a post is bad enough, I may block people in the notes. Because I don't want to be on your dash if you share those views, even if it's about something I don't write. On my blog, it's important for readers to be able to understand fiction can't be equated with real life.

So now that you all have gotten a grasp on the theme, let me give you a gist of this fiesta! We'll be conducting this for the rest of the month i.e. June 2024. There will two main types of prompts:

1. Moodboards

These will be released every 4-5 days or so for you guys to ponder and come up with anything based on or inspired from the prompt (even if sometimes it ends up looking nothing like the prompt itself 🤭) and we'll be happy to reblog your creations, even if it's a three paragraph story or any kind of edit or if you want to try your hand at fan-art but have never been able to sit down and create something— take this opportunity to start creating!

2. Word Prompts

These will be filler prompts for days in between moodboard prompts so that people can keep creating! You can also combine word prompts with any of the moodboards according to your liking, there's absolutely no restrictions. Also, even if there are new prompts, you can still create based on the old ones (again, no hard and fast rules here!)

There's no particular guidelines to this Fiesta so create whatever feels right to YOU! There's no wrong or right! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask us in the comments, through asks, or you could even dm them if you're feeling particularly shy!

If you're too worried about putting out your content then you can of course send it to us privately and we will post it for you while maintaining all privacy that we can!

In regards to how you want to post, there are several options like:

1. You want to post an edit on YouTube/Instagram/Tik tok or you want to post some writing on Wattpad/Ao3/WordPress or something that doesn't directly get posted to Tumblr— that's completely alright! Just make sure to tag this blog @arshifiesta, make sure you use the hashtag #IPK 13th Anniversary Fiesta and a link to whatever moodboard/word prompt you're using!

2. You want to post something on other websites as mentioned above but also want to post them here or add introduction and links that direct you to other websites— Sure you can! Again, make sure to tag us and use the proper hashtag so that we can reblog all submissions/creations!

3. You want to post on Tumblr itself but aren't sure how to go about it? Okay, so if this is the case then we suggest that you refer to this post by jalebi which will give you a flexible format to use. Mention the prompt (hyperlink it if possible!), share your work and then tag our blog and use the proper hashtag!

Note: Although, there aren't any age restrictions for submissions, we request you to add community label (mature) wherever necessary!

-Altum's meaning: Altum can be translated in Latin by 'high', 'above', 'deep' and 'depths'. -Altum is a CROSSOVER between two (three?) pre-existing works! The game Subnautica by Unknow Worlds and... the Pressure on Roblox fanfiction serie 'Ouroboros' by @inkspottie [my apology for the tag].

-What is Altum about? Altum is about Sebastian Solace and all the Ouroboros crew's adventures but instead of being on Earth, the Hadal Blacksite is on 4546B [where Subnautica takes place]'s Site A/Sector 1. It will mix both the plot of Ouroboros and Subnautica. -Does Altum studies stuff from Subnautica: Below Zero? Nop! Altum takes place in Site A/Sector 1, which is the one from Subnautica and not Below Zero. Thought it is a bit related to Below Zero with Eve/Eyefestatio being a Chelicerate and Sebastian having Iceworm DNA. -Does the fact Sebastian & Sadao have 4546B creatures DNAs change some of their abilities? Yes, sadly. I tried to keep it as close as I could, but by means they do not possess the same abilties, and here's an exemple that won't spoil anything! Sadao kept his poison [Crab Snake] but lost his speed on land, as there's no creatures that are quite nimble on land, the two only land creatures being rather slow.

-Is Altum canon-compliant? Nah we throw canon out the window there! I don't really take in mind everything from the Subnautica Databank, as exemple I do not think canonically, Crab snakes are venomous, and yet here I am calling them such! It's a lot headcanons! -Are all Altum characters Ouroboros characters? For most, some stand-by characters or side ones that will either get killed immediately or that are only mentionned such as when Sebastian reads a file or something DO belong to me [I can't believe I did such OCs with massive developpement for them to see the public like that xD] -What should we be wary of when reading Altum? Gore and violence MOSTLY, atleast in the main story. You may also want to look out for animalistic behaviors such as courting by gifting an corpse [this is just an exemple] as this kinda feral and gory love is my kind of things! I also tend to, not purposefully make things disgustingly realistical, but I'll try to keep it a bit gut wretching without it being too much! -Disgustingly realistical how? Thought not a biology professional, I still make it a bit like how I think it would be in reality, without sugarcoating which include stuff such as organism studies [which can go from heart, to lungs, to intestines in a rather short time]. But I'll try to not put any in Altum. TRY. -Does Altum studies strange topics? As of now, there's no plans on doing anything overly disturbing or anything. But I do think about MENTIONNING about Sebastian and cannibalism, maybe maybe, I'm not exactly sure but Sebastian eating some of the guards and/or EXR-P is something I've thought of for awhile. -How often are uploads? No schedules whatsoever. I am UNABLE to stay motivated and attentive regularly, sometimes it could be twice a day [which I doubt] or once a week! It's all about luck from my motivation. -Will there be arts for every chapters? No promises! But I want to train my attention span and patience, so I'll try! -Who runs this blog and writes Altum? @arkanicdevotion does! @northen-wreck being my second blog!

-Is Altum going to be smut free? The main story for sure! I MAY, and it's a big MAY do side smut as I find it interesting to write but eh, we'll see! But what's sure is no smut in the main!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Almost exclusively Danny Phantom. I have one Gravity Falls Crossover and one DPxDC crossover as well.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 

Summoning: When Jack and Maddie Fenton tried to summon the King of All Ghosts, the last thing they expected was the sudden appearance of a very familiar, very human boy wearing spaceship pajamas and with a toothbrush halfway to his mouth.

Double Discovery: After accidentally shooting Phantom with an anti-possession gun, Maddie finds she has a lot to learn about both Danny Phantom and Danny Fenton. Eventual Revelation Story.

Borrower Danny: A teeny tiny Danny starts living in Wayne Manor

4. Fangs or No Fangs: For Phic Phight 2021. Jack and Maddie know that Danny is Phantom. They saw him transform and they knew they should talk about it with him. But…even after two weeks, that conversation feels impossible. And so Jack and Maddie have a plan: a trip to the planetarium to cheer Danny up, to finally see him smile again, and to pave the way for the truth.

5. Below the Greenhouse: For the Phic Phight. Prompt by Avearia: Maddie discovers the depths of Vlad's obsessions when she stumbles upon his secret lab. Despite the shock, part of her almost isn't surprised by the stolen Fenton Tech, the ripoff ghost portal, or the eerie Holo-Maddie—but the clone she finds floating in the pod at the back of the room? That's another matter entirely.

I generally try to! I love hearing what readers have to say and will happily answer questions, as long as I'm not giving out spoilers. XD

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Well, my second long fic, Hope Can Be a Heavy Thing to Hold, ends with the main character dying so....

Seriously though, I do have a sequel to this story planned as my next major project. Maybe we'll all find out things aren't what they seem. 😜

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I love angst with a happy ending so a lot of my fics end happily. I don't think I can pick which one is happiest. This one has a special place in my heart though.

I have before but not very often. I normally just delete mean comments without replying.

Nope.

I have written a two before. I think Borrower Danny is the craziest one.

Luckily I haven't as far as I know.

Kinda? One of my fics, The Danny Program, was based on an au which @thesoulspulse came up with. Later, Soul wrote a longer version of that au which followed a lot of the same stories beats as my fic and I beta'd.

I'm not a huge shipper. Dark Gray (Dan Phantom and Valerie Gray) is something of a guilty pleasure though.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

My series, Life and Death is all Perspective, has been a bit of a struggle. I get close to thinking it's done and it keeps growing. 😂

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm very good at writing emotions and dialogue.

Fights scenes are definitely a struggle since I have trouble visualizing them in my head.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I only speak English fluently so I probably wouldn't write dialogue in another language.

I feel like I've told this story before but the first fic I wrote was a Doctor Who fic for a school assignment in high school. It was for one of those warm-up exercises in English and my teacher loved it. XD

At the moment, none of them. I am struggling. But I think indie band patrick has been the most enjoyable.

Any of the non-SC wips. I know I've talked about this a lot but I am having trouble hearing their voices. I'll get over it, but it's a struggle.

See above. I keep writing a few lines and then getting in my head about it and giving up.

I usually ask someone to look at everything I write before I post unless it's a super quick prompt fill or something, so probably all of them.

At the moment, all of them.

I'm not sure any of them have OCs of note yet. Of course there are a few in indie band patrick but none that are fleshed out enough to call them a favorite.

None of them yet, though there will be certainly be some spice in indie band Patrick and the grindr au, if that ever gets finished.

Definitely you can have manhattan since it's exes to lovers, though the twylexis childhood friends to lovers certainly has quite a bit as well.

Balancing Act

Hey hey, I have more Ody/Chance fic! Not a prompt fill or anything just straight-up wanted to write them more, so I made a follow-up to Occupational Hazard. ^_^ ---

She made it almost a month before her curiosity got the better of her and she found herself slicing into the medcenter records.

I just want to check on him, Odessa rationalized. I'm not after anything the doctors wouldn't just tell me if I were dating him as a Republic citizen. It was a thin justification, which was part of why she was doing this from her personal datapad, in her quarters, with the door locked. (The rest, of courses, being she didn't need her crew knowing she was in a relationship with a Republic spy.)

The pathways were already laid from her first time infiltrated system to find him, even if they didn't fully remain. It made this faster, easier, though she was careful not to let it make her sloppy. It also made it easier to avoid extraneous data; the path led straight to the file she sought.

Rieves, S. She bit her lip as she skimmed past the personal information, name, date of birth, the classified tag on his involvement with Ardun's team as background for his injuries. Ongoing treatment, there we go...

Someone had been keeping very studious updates, almost daily. She couldn't tell from the ID tag if it was a medtech or doctor(probably the former). Whoever it was, she wanted to hug them. The notes made it clear 'steady but slow' was the best descriptor for his progress. There were addendums about muscle damage, scarring, probable mobility limitations, more positive references to the healing progression in other areas.

Odessa read them with the same focus she gave mission briefings. Truth be told, she cared about this significantly more. Between her training around human anatomy and bits picked up from Dr. Lokin, she was able to parse the main points. There was a note from only two days prior cautioning about physical recovery limits and recommending his superiors be apprised as requested.

She winced and backed out of the file, careful to cover her tracks on the way and wipe the history on her datapad. Seemed like his guesses from when she visited were sound--not in life-threatening danger but highly unlikely to recover enough for field work.

She'd wanted to know. Now she knew. The scarring was unlikely to heal further, all but guaranteed limits to mobility... It would be a lot to handle. She wished she could be there with him.

Between tracking down the Star Cabal and "official" assignments, she was too busy to dwell on anything outside work for several days. That didn't keep bashful smiles and warm brown eye from her dreams, of course, but she didn't have time to do much more than dream.

This datapad and contact channel each have about three layers of encryption on them. None SIS. Ardun had me trick them out before... you know. He didn't want them traced to the Republic if one of us got caught or one got lost. Point being, it's secure on my end if you want to be direct. We don't need to use spyspeak or vague generalities, just don't put so much traffic on this channel it draws attention and we'll be okay.

All that said, it's good to hear from you. I hope you're keeping safe, though I know that's hard under the circumstances. I'm in pretty much the same spot as when you were here. Can't go far without help, trying to balance progress with not making things worse. The doctor's happy with the rate, director isn't. We'll see how that ends up. I know the odds of it being any time soon are low, but I'm looking forward to next time. Helps keep me going.

"Am I? I don't feel much different," she said, tone light. She knew better than to lie to a fellow--more experienced--liar, but also didn't want to discuss the matter. The messages on her datapad were just for her.

"Mm. There's something about your mood..." He shook his head. "Forgive an old man his habits. We had a job to do, didn't we?"

She wasn't fooled; the good doctor suspected something now. She'd be under observation. Wish I'd brought Vector. She normally would have; aside from being her friend, he never pried for her thoughts before she was willing to share them. But with rumors of rakghouls or something like them infesting the swamps here, Dr. Lokin was the only logical choice. Even if it meant her balancing the risk of monsters against the risk of discovery. She wasn't sure which was more daunting.

A week with no reply had her ansty-- last time he'd replied same day--and that was not a good frame of mind for what she was gearing up to do.

It's infiltrating an estate, she told herself, triple checking she had everything she might need. You've done similar jobs a dozen times. Stay focused and there shouldn't be a problem.

She wasn't expecting to encounter a familiar face, though the familiar part didn't register until she'd leveled a blaster at him.

"We have to stop meeting like this," she drawled, sotto voce.

A low, sardonic chuckle. "Agreed, but it's good to see you all the same, Legate."

She stepped closer, lowering her blaster and her voice. "Likewise, Ardun, but what are you doing here?"

"I suspect the same thing as you," he said with a thin smile. "The baron is a member in formerly good standing with the Star Cabal. Thought the galaxy might be better off without him roaming it unchecked."

"You suspect correctly, though I was planning to rifle his databanks before I did anything to the man directly," she confirmed with a nod.

"Then I have a proposition, assuming this is a personal mission rather than official one." He waited for her to nod again before continuing, "We should work together; you take the data, I'll take the baron. SIS has been pursuing objectives from the Codex and he's the next link in a chain that's very close to snagging some very big fish."

Odessa paused, considering. On-site backup would be useful, and she had been wondering how to handle the baron. "You have a deal. You'll pass along anything you learn from him?"

Ardun nodded. "Might even slip you an assignment or two, if we can manage it."

"Sounds like a plan." She gripped her blaster and gestured for him to take the lead. They accomplished both objectives with very little fuss. Just about the smoothest Odessa had ever seen an op go.

"Do you have a team to help extract him?" she asked, gesturing toward the drugged noble.

Ardun was already raising a comlnk. "Not far," he answered her, before clicking it on. "Saber, Coin, we're ready for our ride."

There was a pair of staticky clicks but no verbal reply.

Coin, hm? "Still enjoying sabacc, I see," she commented.

He shrugged. "It works, and I like to give the team a sense of stability."

"Do you..." she hesitated before gambling on the question, "know how Chance is doing?"

Ardun gave her a keen look in the starlight, like he'd heard her almost say Sollen, and smiled faintly. "Last I heard he was recovering well. Doesn't seem likely he'll be returning to field work, though, which is a shame. With the war and everything I can't keep as close tabs as I'd like on non-active agents."

There was a trickle of disappointment even if that was roughly the answer she expected. "Glad he's recovering," she murmured, looking off the balcony to scan for his ride. She wanted to be gone before they got here.

"Any particular reason you're interested?"

"We were working together when he got hurt, I just want to be sure he's alright," Odessa deflected.

"Mm. I'm sure he'd appreciated the concern," Ardun said with a half smile that was too knowing by half for her taste.

She grimaced to herself. Jedi. It was easy to forget his past life still clung to him. Wonder how much he can sense... "Good luck with your prize," she said, rather than follow that line any further.

There was a flicker of motion off the balcony, commotion stirring among the estate guards below.

"Same to you, Legate, but here's my ride, and I think that's our cue. I assume you're alright making your own way out?"

Odessa nodded. "I'm very good at making an exit," she said, sardonic smile curving her lips.

She ducked away before the darkened speeder pulled up, using the guards' focus on that to make her own escape easier. She wondered if the SIS would actually get anything from the baron, if he was as important to the Star Cabal as he seemed. Suppose I'll find out if Ardun passes anything along, but I think I got the better end of the deal.

Shouldn't I be more worried about you than the other way around? Seems like it would fit the circumstances better. I am listening to the doctors, I promise. But rehab is rehab, which sometimes means not much happens for a while. Think I'm in one of those ruts now. They had to do another surgery on something that wasn't healing right, which slowed things down more. It's boring when the therapist isn't here, being so limited in what I can do. I hope you're being safe. Keep out of trouble when you can, huh? For my sake if nothing else.

Odessa bit back a giddy smile and tugged a lock off hair as she read the message that had been waiting when she returned to the ship. Vector and Temple were sifting through the data she'd found, Kaliyo and Lokin were running recognizance, SCORPIO was doing another 'self-improvement' update; this was the closest to safely alone she would get.

So she read it again. And again. Let the warmth bloom in her chest, running her fingers over the last couple sentences. You're too good for me, Sollen Rieves.

She tapped her nails against the edge of the datapad.

"I hope you're being safe."

She stared at the words a moment longer, then pushed to her feet. Four months was long enough.

She was a little more daring this time, slipping in at midday under an alias rather than play the evening ghost. The records would show her there to visit a completely different patient, if anything flagged enough for them to be checked in the first place, and she knew how to time things so the security cameras didn't catch her.

He was up when she reached his room, moving very carefully around the space. Odessa leaned against the wall to watch, not wanting to break his concentration(even though she was fairly certain he wasn't supposed to do this alone). He kept close to walls and furniture, she noted, even as he did his best to walk without touching any of them.

His limp was very pronounced; she could see why both he and Ardun had expressed doubt he'd return to field work. A limp like that was easy to clock, nigh impossible to conceal or alter, and would make quick escapes... tricky at best. And if it was still that bad after a year and a half of surgery, kolto, and rehab, it likely wasn't going to get much better.

Sollen's hand brushed the window sill briefly, then, two very deliberate steps later, grabbed for a chair as his knee buckled.

"Chance--!" It was knee-jerk to fall back on the code name as she bolted to catch him.

He swiveled to answer, all the same. Apparently old habits died hard for both of them. They stared at each other a moment, surprise and embarrassment warring in his wide brown eyes.

"..."Hi," he finally said.

Odessa smiled, hand still around his arm. "Hi."

"What're you doing here? Not that I'm unhappy about it," Sollen added, ears going pink. "Just... very pleasantly surprised."

It was her turn to flush, having to actually put it words. "You know what they say about absence and hearts," she mumbled as she shifted her grip to help him sit in the chair he'd grabbed for support. "I missed you."

"Oh." he sat heavily with a grimace and took a moment to catch his breath. The pink was spreading from his ears to his neck and cheeks. "Good timing. And, um, I missed you, too."

She sat in another chair, scooting it closer to his as she did. "Was this listening to your doctor, Sollen?"

"I am supposed to get exercise," he said. She didn't miss the way his hand massaged just above the bad knee. "And I have been doing better, this was just a cramp."

Odessa bit her lip. "I hate to be a nag our first time seeing each other in months, but are you supposed to be doing that alone? Everyone I know who's been hurt badly enough to require rehab was supposed to have someone with them whenever they worked on anything that could... stress their injuries." She rested her hand over his.

Sollen smiled. "They said as long as I'm careful, which I am. I appreciate you being worried, though."

"Of course." His hand was warm under hers, small rough patches speaking of scars not visible at a glance. She swept her thumb across his knuckles, relishing the simple fact she got to hold his hand. "A lot of my work these days is just watching and waiting, it seems your circumstances carry more risk," she half-teased lightly.

"Only from my own clumsiness," he snorted.

It's not clumsiness if you're healing from serious injuries. She pursed her lips and sent him a mischievous smile. "Would you like a shoulder to lean on getting back to the bed, in that case?"

"Might not be a bad idea, so I don't fall on my face if nothing else," Sollen said wryly.

"Well, we wouldn't want that." She stood and let him use her arm for leverage to do the same. He slid an arm around her shoulder and she instinctively wrapped one around his waist in response. "What are the odds of some orderly or medtech catching us like this and being curious?"

Sollen leaned heavily on her for a moment, his grip tightening. "Low but existent. Lunch was... not quite an hour ago, so we have a bit before they do rounds. And those can vary on timing; it depends on what --if anything--the people ahead of you need." They reached the bed, but he seemed reluctant to change position. Odessa caught him studying her when she looked up. "I'm... pretty stable, so I'm low on the list. You look tired, Dessa."

"I am," she admitted easily. No point lying. "Didn't you mention having another surgery in your last message?" Much as she too enjoyed their current position, she didn't want him to push it. She pressed a hand against his chest to nudge him toward the bed.

"Yeah, but it wasn't anything major this time," he said, his hand lingering as it slid down her arm when he sat. "Somethin' about muscles pulled too tight on the back of my leg."

"Major or not, I'd think a recent surgery would make you a higher priority," Odessa murmured as she helped him get settled. "And that sounds pretty major to me."

"It was a couple days in kolto to make sure things didn't heal to tight again and make the limp worse. No complications or anything," Sollen assured her, though he held his leg in a position that spoke to something still being sore. "They're still checking it a couple times a day, there's nothing to worry about."

"Alright, I'll take your word for it." She sat on the edge of the bed and tentatively rested her hand on his leg near where he'd been massaging. "Is the cramp gone?"

It took a moment from him to look up and meet her eyes. "Mostly."

"Good." She left her hand where it was. "Then we can enjoy what time we have before it gets interrupted."

"What, are you planning to leave if someone shows up?"

"Don't you think that's best?" Odessa sighed, her thumb rubbing arcs as the warmth of his skin soaked through the fabric. "I imagine I'll be difficult to explain."

"Not really." Sollen was studying her face again. "Odessa, are... are you having second thoughts?"

"Of course not!" Knee-jerk instinct put more vehemence behind the words than intended. She swallowed to rein herself in, and gently squeezed his knee. "I don't want to make trouble, or cause enough of an impression I get remembered. I have to balance wanting to see you with being a ghost, at least as far as the Empire's concerned."

"Ah. Well..." He sifted position with a grimace so fleeting she wondered if she imagined it. "That's easy; we can just say you're someone I work with. It's not even a lie, and the doctors know I'm SIS, so they'll just assume you are, too."

Also not technically a lie, even if only three people in the whole galaxy know that. "Smart man," Odessa chuckled. He was right, that was the most logical conclusion people would draw. She was being paranoid.

Sollen shrugged. "I dunno about that, I just... if it's going to be another four months--or longer--before we get to actually see each other again, I want to enjoy this visit as long as we can, rather than you skittering into the ether at the first hint of being seen, you know?"

She did know, and she agreed. But she was an allegedly loyal Imperial on the Republic homeworld, with no idea what other operative from "her" government might be active. Lokin's rubbing off on you. The thought made her shudder.

"I want that, too," She slid her hand from hiss lag to take his hand instead. "I know it's hard not getting to be normal about... a relationship, but I would very much like to enjoy the time we get as well."

"Good to know." He smiled shyly and squeezed her hand. "So, how much of what you've been up to can you talk about...?"

"Oh, most of it," Odessa laughed. "Official assignments have been light; I'm mostly working on my personal project." She paused. "I ran into a mutual friend on Alderaan..."

It was four uninterrupted hours later and closing in on dinner time when she finally--reluctantly--took her leave. "You need rest and I need to get back before my team wonders if I got eaten by a black hole."

He laughed as he let go of her hand. "Wouldn't want that. See you next time, Dessa."

She nodded, warmth spiraling in her chest. "Next time." She leaned in to brush a kiss against his temple and headed for her shuttle fighting a smile.

2023

As 2023 is steadily ticking ever closer to being over, I'm sitting here and thinking about the past year. I think I've finally realized that - despite feeling horrible at times - it was kind of a good year for me, both in terms of writing and personal stuff. And it goes beyond the "Hey, you wrote a book!" thing.

Writing

That's a big one for me. 2023 marks the first year in a long while that I've shared my writing with people. Joining writeblr felt like a very good decision, even though I'm so far not as active a I want to be.

I wrote a whole entire book's worth of words in 2023, and I'm very proud of it. "Worthy of a King" was truly a project of my heart (still is, obviously) and a major turning point creatively. Writing hasn't felt this easy in years. Between the completed draft 1 and the almost 40k of draft 2 I have already written, I have written somewhere around 120k words in 2023, not counting supplementary and backstory material. That would have felt insurmountable just a year ago. I am so, so proud of that!

I'm looking forward to 2024. I want to share "Worthy of a King" with you all. I want you to be able to read it and get to know my boys and hopefully fall in love with them as much as I have. That's the main goal for me next year. Beyond that, I also want to share more of my WIP stuff with you beyond snippets in tag games. Maybe introduce the world, the characters to you, etc. I'm not quite sure how yet, but I'm looking forward to trying.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what my next writing project will be beyond WoaK. I thought I was sure, but if I am being honest, the iron grip Project Runaways has on my soul is likely never to ease until I just sit down and figure the damn thing out. We'll see.

Personal

Feel free to skip this part if you're not interested. I've stopped sharing a lot of my life online a while ago. I think that's a good thing, but sometimes I question whether that's just me building up walls around myself.

2023 was a year where bad things happened. My dad had a really bad accident in spring, and it's the kind were you just occasionally have to sit and breathe and thank all the lucky stars because he could have died. He could have been permanently disabled. Instead, he goes to concerts and festivals with me. He jumps into mosh pits. He stopped smoking. I am so eternally grateful for all of those things. His injury put a damper on a lot of things - mainly house renovation stuff. One day, I will finally be able to live in the house that is already home to me, but until then, waiting has been hard. Very hard. But it's okay. I'm lucky. We're lucky. I have to keep reminding myself.

Work has been a constant source of stress for me, which sents me down mental spirals I really don't like. Part of it is external factors, but I can admit it's also that I don't know how not to care. How not to involve myself in everything. That's something I've started working on, and want to continue working on in 2024, because this is actually actively detrimental to my mental health and I want it to stop.

But when 2023 was good, it was SO good! All the concerts I went to! The medieval markets, the festivals, the just fun outings. It was such a good year! I went to Norway for the first time! I want to do more of all that in 2024. It makes me feel like myself, I think that's important.

I'm gonna spend New Year's quiet at home, the way I enjoy it most. I don't really like New Years Eve, but I do enjoy spending time by myself. I think I'm gonna finish preparing my photo album of the year. I think I'm gonna dedicate January first to writing. In the spirit of the year I want to have. Let's hope it's a good one.

Jack, Grunt, and Garrus. Going to attempt to establish some interesting dynamics (Regis and Jack) and try to set up some reasons in fic-canon as to why Regis has a few suicide mission deaths (Garrus, Grunt, and later Legion). Maybe. We'll see how it goes.

“But you do have me, and I’m here however you need me,” Zaeed replied, leaning in close.  Regis closed the distance between them, more free and open with his affection now that he met up with Kaidan, that they were able to clear the air and open the possibility for more.  That their triad can and will continue one day. Zaeed pushed him up against the wall, the same spot where Regis first saw him on Omega, threatening a target. The feeling of the cold, hard panel sent a shiver down Regis's spine, heightening the intensity of the moment. Regis let out a pleased sound, letting Zaeed take over despite where they were, submitting to his advances. Regis moaned against his lips, about to grind up against him, but someone cleared their throat a short distance from them.  “I wouldn’t say this is the best time and place, Commander.”    “And why is it that you care, Lawson?” Regis asked with a hard glare, his earlier desire replaced by irritation at the intrusion.  She stood with an arched eyebrow, a hint of curiosity in her expression. She folded her arms across her chest, seemingly unfazed by the situation, her confidence unshaken. Changed out of her normal Cerberus dress “whites,” she wore a long khaki coat belted around her body, a clean and pristine look that suited her well. Out of all the fucking people to interrupt… but perhaps this was a good opportunity to go ahead and get that damn conversation out of the way.  Zaeed slowly pulled away, tilting his head to the side as if to ask if Regis was going to go ahead and deal with what he learned from Aria.  Regis nodded, answering the silent question. “I assumed you wouldn’t want the crew to gossip about your love life,” she replied, keeping her expression neutral.  “Or perhaps even beyond that.  Word travels fast about you.” Regis wouldn’t have called it concern, the barb at the end seeming to signify she was talking about the Alliance being aware of him… and all his connections there.  As if she was baiting him, dangling the knowledge that she knew about his relationship with Kaidan. And what that could mean if he were to learn of this "affair." “You’re right.  Word does travel fast about me.  Shame that it took me a while to learn who exactly handled my body here on this fucking station,” Regis said, watching her eyes widen in recognition.  The truth hung in the air between them. She stepped back.  The gravity well stirred.   “I knew your word was full of shit, but I never expected this,” he continued, staying against the wall.  “We are going to have a long talk.”

5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?

Yes I do. I appreciate that people take the time to leave a comment and so I want to at least thank them. Then again, I'm not exactly flooded with comments, so it's easy to keep up.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I'm not much of an angst writer. I guess the angstiest would be Bitter Flies My Longing Soul, which is angrily pining LWJ during Sunshot.

7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Almost all of them are happy. XD I guess the happiest is likely Five Serious Late-Night Conversations, because it's a fluffy fic in general. I also think that Jade Reflecting the Morning's Glow ends very happily and is overall a very soft fic.

8. do you get hate on any fics?

So far I haven't and I hope it stays that way! But I guess it's far easier to get hate if your fics take off or if you've got "controversial" tags that draw in the haters.

9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?

So far, I've posted one smutty fic. Currently trying to write another one, we'll see how that goes. XD I tend to write T-rated stuff tbh.

10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written?

No I don't. Or I haven't yet, but I also don't have ideas for crossovers so I don't see one in my near future.

11. have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of, hopefully not!

No I haven't.

Also no. (Wow this is exciting XD) But I could see it happening.

14. what’s your all time favorite ship?

I usually have a main ship for each fandom and it would be difficult to decide on my all time favourite! It's usually whoever is the one from my current main, I guess.

15. what’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I think I'm going to finish all my current WIPs. Or well, the ones that actually have good chunks written which are 4. I don't count the tiny snippets or tentative ideas because those are usually just me wanting to get the idea out and then letting it lie around to see if something happens with them.

16. what are your writing strengths?

I think I'm good at humour and feel good stuff, and also with dialogue! Most of my fic ideas start with an idea for a conversation. Also, I'm good with grammar and spelling.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes, which I haven't even written yet. XD Trying to avoid them. I'm also really insecure about smut but I guess that's one of those things that people are either super sure about or fear. XD

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't mind it? At least if there's a footnote or something to translate.

19. first fandom you wrote for?

Sherlock. Which was for a holiday exchange, otherwise I wouldn't have written anything for it at first. And then I liked it well enough to write another fic for it. And then didn't write anything for 8 years or so. XD

But I started at, like, 10 with drawing/writing stuff for The Animals of Farthing Wood. XD I'm sure those comics are still lying around somewhere at my parents' house. It was a whole epic thing. There were so many fox OCs! XD

20. favorite fic you’ve written?

Oh that is mean! I don't really have a favourite. I think everything came together the best in A More Practical Approach, as it came out pretty much exactly as I'd wanted it too. But I'm proud of all the other ones as well, of course!

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

a whopping 4 can you tell I don't write fics often!

though there actually used to be a few more short oneshots, but when I fell rather violently out of love with SPN, which they were for I just. couldn't stand to see them in there anymore (and I didn't like the writing itself anymore either) and I ended up deleting them... ^^"

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

41,198 (and the deleted fics would only have added around maybe 1000 words? 2k max but I don't even think they added up to that much)

3. What fandoms do you write for?

the only fics left are for DBH now, I have considered writing for Sandman, but tbh. there's sooooo many good writers in this fandom, anything I want to exist as fics is pretty much already there or in progress of being made and so I'm rather content to focus on art, slow at it though I may be :'D

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

er, well since there's only 4 of em:

1. no one can tell where your heart is (885, still in progress. and has been for a while I am so sorry)

2. lay bare the fire in me (328, .....the same as above. but I do have outlines for both fics, they WILL get finished dammit :'D)

3. and I don’t dance, but here I am (87, ...which is the sequel to 1 I couldn't wait to write even though the main fic isn't done yet xD)

I usually do or try to, even if it's just a short answer, because I love engaging with people over things that are important to me (and with comments I don't have to start the conversdation so to speak).

I do however have a few comments left in my inbox that I have not answered due to the crushing guilt of not having updated in so long.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

freedom is a length of rope (technically also in progress to have a more hopeful ending added, but the longer it exists, the more I want to. keep the angsty ending it has. also guess where that title is from lmao)

and I don’t dance, but here I am though the in progress fics will likely end on the same level of everything is good and nothing hurts

no, people have been very nice and also so infinitely patient with me! TAT

While not hostile, the weirdest I got was someone trying to convince me to let them sort of cowrite the fic with me? I respectfully declined because I did (I do TAT) have the general story outlined.

...haven't yet, but the two fics in progres will have it. We'll find out h kind then I suppose.

No sure I'd ever be confident enough for pwp.

I have not and don't know if I would? If I did I'd probably only very loosely do it, because I am not confident I could do each included world/fandom justice. That's easier with art for me than writing.

not to my knowledge, but with barely any existing and only half of em finished I would be surprised :'D

no, and tbh I'd probably be very intimidated to try.

but I think one that's been with me since forEVER is Ace Attorney's Wrightworth (or NaruMitsu as I got to know it hehe).

In newer terms I think Dreamling will stick with me too.

freedom is a length of rope like I said, the more I think about "fixing" what happened in chapter 1 in an additional chapter, the more I find myself leanign towards "no. this works better as an angsty oneshot"

hmmm, not sure I write enough to really find em. minimalism? Shorter stories in a more minimal style I'd say.

hilariously, I think that's also minimalism. because writing longer overarcing storylines when this is your go to becomes difficult.

Or maybe that's just "long interesting storylines that aren't super predictable or cliché"

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic.

well, I am German, so if the opportunity presented itself for a character where it works I could.

as far as writing in general in English goes. idk, I spent a lot of my time conversing and writing in English even outside the internet, and it's hard for me to judge how well lI'm doing in terms of er. written eloquence? I try my best and that's all I can do really.

For languages I don't know, I'd probably try to find someone who knows them or make really sure I've got it correct, I don't trust google translate enough :'D

Supernatural

unless we count the NaruMitsu proposal RP I wrote with a friend in ICQ, but that was never published outside that chatroom xD
