had a dream that i found a super mario 64 cd for windows among some old tech stuff, so i booted it up a bit surprised it exists and I see some rooms that i remember from older dreams that don't actually exist in the game (but i don't realize that) but then I also see silver stars in some buggy prototype state and I am confused because silver stars are only a thing in SM64DS, so i look up how this strange version existed, and I find out that apparently the late Steve Jobs licensed this version of super mario 64 ds for windows in the early 2000s

which somehow did not ring confusion bells in my dream self, but what did was that apparently it wasn't just the game it was a whole windows install live cd and i could directly boot an old windows vista instance from it, and I played around with it a bit only to become progressively confused how so much stuff could be saved on a single CD,

and there was what at first looked like some sort of old world building strategy game, running on the desktop like there were some buildings in the corner, and i realized i could turn the camera and there was an entire desolated post apocalyptic world with all the people gone, except it looked like everybody just vanished recently since fields and stuff was still intact and i looked it over extremely confused that even though the cd was abandoned for years this defunct civilization still has wheat fields all up ready to be harvested and stuff,

and then for some reason my grandma and some other old people start showing up looking over my shoulder commenting on the buildings and paths and infrastructure and say things like "this was built by real union men!" and similar things in sort of nostalgic for the past approval

i love adhd. i have a lot to do at work today. i take my meds. i open the word document. i immediately misspell “benzodiazepines.” i go on tumblr to post “benzodiazepenis….” for the mutualés. and then it’s 45 minutes later and ive caught up on tumblr and checked the weather and read a fic and texted an ex and ordered new pens and looked up a recipe for chicken pot pie and posted about adhd and done zero work.

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

the funniest meltdown ive ever had was in college when i got so overstimulated that i could Not speak, including over text. one of my friends was trying to talk me through it but i was solely using emojis because they were easier than trying to come up with words so he started using primarily emojis as well just to make things feel balanced. this was not the Most effective strategy... until. he tried to ask me "you okay?" but the way he chose to do that was by sending "👉🏼👌🏼❓" and i was so shocked by suddenly being asked if i was dtf that i was like WHAT???? WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?????????? and thus was verbal again

a man self immolated in front of the israeli embassy in washington dc yesterday. not just any man. an active member of the us air force. he live streamed his death, and said that he refused to be complicit in a genocide any longer. he said that compared to what palestinians were facing every day, setting himself alight was nothing.

let me reiterate. an active duty air force member burned himself alive because he was so disgusted by what the us government was openly supporting. he live-streamed his own suicide, so the whole world could bear witness as a man in his military uniform set himself on fire to protest his government’s complicity in the horrors that we have all been forced to watch happen in real time. he became a new horror. footage of the immolation blurs him out the moment the fire catches, but you can hear him. it is over in seconds, really, but you can hear him screaming. he shouts “free palestine” until his body physically cannot make any sounds other than guttural screams of agony. and then he falls silent. a police officer arrives and points a gun at his still burning body, shouting at him to get down on the ground. and it is over.
