Oh, good question, I haven’t really thought about it in my entire life, but why not sharing my current team dimension of the Arsism AU, so basically the team is kinda like my mother’s workers, Versil is an annoying AF boss (like my mother), Victor hates him (like me except i only hate her personality not her herself), Dahlia is like my mother’s old secretary (if thats the word for the one who sits in the office & does the job of the boss), she can’t stands dealing with problems (like Sorrel, damn, she hates him soooo much mainly due to the fact he always stopped team dimension & is unbeatable), but unlike my mom’s old secretary, she didn’t quit because she wanted money (in my AU Versil was cheapstake on other people like my mamma so he paid them a low price of 100 poké for a month, lol) and was too unsuccessful to get a proper job, A & B & every robot of the team were loyal to him mainly cuz they are just that way lol, Trey hates fucking everyone in the team & always dreams of killing Versil extremely brutally like in horror movies (yes, Trey’s mind is dark, just like Sorrel) i haven’t even finished the game so I can’t tell the exact info but i know the story pretty well, now to lore stuff:

When Versil ran away to commit crimes (cuz the concept of him opening a portal to the xenoverse & making his team members harm pokemon & people was kinda a crime) a certain grunt was like “didn’t you had a wife and a son?” And then Versil shoot him with an RPG & said “we don’t mention emotional stuff” (it happened before mainstory events)

Trey once tried stabbing Versil but he failed miserably & just waited for it to end

The first to find Versil in the spaceship was Sorrel (second was Aster & third were Trey & Alice) & Versil did do all this “manipulative & dark talk” (basically him admitting all his crimes while sweet talking to Sorrel to make him submit) but what was different from the original game (canon) was that in order to get him to open a xenoverse portal & hand him Chrissy (Trishout) was literally torture him to get him to do so (yeah, Versil during the xenoverse incident was a horrible person) & even be a lil bit violent with him, luckily Aster came to save Sorrel

Remember Versil’s X Mewtwo? So i made a place for X Mewtwo in the AU as well, in the AU Versil abused Bingus (x Mewtwo) & treated him horribly, so the moment where Bingus is ordered to block the way to the portal, Aster prepares to fight but Sorrel’s like “dude! Why resorting to violence?!” & spoke with Bingus (btw, Sorrel nicknamed him Bingus, and about speaking part, Sorrel & every furry understands the pokemon language) & even noticed some scars on him, probably from Versil or something and then Sorrel convinced Bingus to join them in the fight against Versil & Dragalisk & so he does cuz duh, Sorrel beated Versil easily in his Alter form (his Alter form is just straight up violent & talks in french) so why wouldn’t he

Victor in my AU hates Trey but not as much as he hates the rest cuz he was his crush’s (whatever Trey’s mamma name is) son, but he literally hates the entire existence cuz he is an antipathy

Dahlia eventually starts hating Victor after the events in the old bunker of team dimension cuz she understood he was just an unstable bitch

Trey got revived mysteriously, nobody knows why, but the reason for it was the crown Sorrel wears in the “completely giving up” animation (where it’s basically summing up Sorrel’s entire adventure & his trauma in short) which is a gift from the 2 gods of the justified dimension (Cypress & Atlas), because Trey’s death was considered “unjustified” & they wanted to make up for Sorrel’s trauma cuz he saved the entire planet so they created it to revive Trey

We all see that Versil has an Entei in the canon, right? But nobody tells us why, so in my AU back then when Chrissy & Versil were edgy teenagers (Chrissy was edgy cuz he was a simp for Versil/Silver & wanted to be like him but he took it to a whole other level) Silver wanted to catch a legendary so he can beat Chrissy but the 3 legendary beasts were too much for him to handle & then Chrissy caught Entei for him in brutal-style (brutal-style is an ancient fighting style of the furries that their ancestor made which is basically fighting without using pokemon & brutally like wild animals) & Silver was staring with an horrified & pitiful look, pitying the poor Entei that got beated up by the crazy, wingless dragon & being horrified at that sight, but then it faded when he finally got a legendary, Aster’s Suicune is a whole other story, completely unrelated to Versil & Chrissy’s edgy & insane childhood story

Im not sure if i told it already but Versil & Chrissy were once married before Clover & Chrissy is the actual second parent of Sorrel, but nobody knows that besides of the Jothoian people, and they will never tell that cuz Clover & Versil dont want to have to deal with having to explain the truth to everyone

In the xenoverse incident Versil was a whole different person than he ever was, he did had changed, but nothing can fix the fact that his son is already traumatised from all that, and he fucking regrets that

Even if this wasn't for the FWB challenge, I wouldn't have written a part 2. A lesson I learned from the whole wcbf series is that, it takes the fun out of writing for me to force a happy or alternative ending when that's not what the original story was for me.

This story was shared with the intention of making people feel even the smallest sense of angst. It's my reflection of how real life relationships aren't perfect and even the ones that seem perfect have some sort of catch.

ok so i havent actually seen all of his route cause the game's only available in japanese and the streamer i watched play the game switched to a different guy like halfway through the game n i seriously doubt anyone else is gonna submit him i just need someone else to know about this so! ryouta and the player character (doesnt have a canon name but is given the nickname of marii by the two girl friends) were friends in kindergarten with ryouta having a very blatant crush on her n wished on a pinwheel for them to get married when theyre older he then moves to england as soon as he gets old and he n marii dont interact at all until nine years later when he comes back for high school and is still very blatantly down bad for a girl he last talked to when they were six but has spent the last nine years still thinking about (theres something in the game you can unlock called adv events where you get the love interests pov on moments in their lives and one of ryouta's reveals that even though he couldve he never sent marii any letters but very much did spend all those years thinking about her) n a lot of his interactions with marii are weird n circle back to him being obsessed with them being friends as kids and like a first it just kind of seems like oh he hasnt gotten over his puppy love yet lol but it is kind of like acknowledged that this is a weird thing in game as if marii gets his gift in the christmas exchange ryouta will say something about it being fate n marii pointedly ignores that n is like wow what a coincidence that we got eachother's gifts (not in an oblivious heroine way btw ryouta's straight up is like oh ok ur ignoring what i said) n he treats her like shes naive n completely innocent which like marii is cause shes a mostly blank slate otome heroine but its still noteworthy as being weird due to his aforementioned memorialization of them being friends in kindergarten n that none of the other love interests really treat marii that way or really make note of those being notable traits of hers that often while its something ryouta does frequently anyway so the moment that made my thoughts on ryouta switch from "lol hes kind of weird" to "i want to study him like a bug" is that His Bedroom Is The Exact Same As It Was When He Was A Six Year Old Child In Kindergarten And Hes Keeping It That Way On Purpose like genuinely thats immediately read to me as horror movie shit imagine reuniting with a childhood friend of urs who keeps bringing up stuff you did as kids (that you dont really remember cause you were like six n are now in high school) n making comments about how naive and easy to read you are n gets weirdly jealous about other guys being buddy buddy with you and then like a year or so after hes moved back n you've becomed friends again he invites you to hang out at his house so you go over and then His Room Looks Like It Belongs To A Six Year Old and hes telling you about how his room hasnt been altered (beyond cleaning) at all since he left n since hes come back hes chosen to keep it exactly the same n hes telling you this like its a reasonable thing literally what the fuck also while ryouta is the posterboy childhood friend love interest of this game theres another love interest who was both ryouta n marii's childhood friend and you'll never believe this he treats her like a normal person and is just a normal guy who barely remembers being friends in kindergarten and him n marii only learn that theyre childhood friends cause of ryouta being mildly exasperated that neither of them really remembers them being a trio when they were six theres definitely like worse love interests i could submit from this series (like the teachers n one of the three secret love interests in the second game whos route is just straight up him emotionally abusing the heroine) but im submitting ryouta cause his reasons for sucking as a romantic partner are bizarre n live rent free in my mind

I forgot that mental illness effects your asleep, thanks to my wonderful partner recording concerning events in my sleep i know now I groan in pain and distress when highly stressed/system is stressed/a traumatic trigger happened. That was the scariest shit I’ve ever heard and I have no memory of it. I do know it was triggered by having to return to my abusive family and cult, plus also an event of an older alter sobbing to them in fear only to slowly cry himself to sleep.

So yeah to fellow systems out there, try setting up recordings of your sleep patterns, with audio because it’s another way of telling shit is clearly wrong. Also try having partners record you in dissociative states/episodes (with permission) to send to your therapist as extra evidence with testimony. Any time I’ve doubted myself or have been fakeclaimed, I go back to this and realize “how in the fuck am I gonna fake mental illness in my sleep?”

Btw this condition has a name, it’s catathrenia and there is no known cause and is extremely rare as well. Some evidence suggests psychiatric disorders can cause it, but they’re not completely sure as this disorder is so rare. However sleep disorders are more common in people with PTSD/CPTSD and other trauma related disorders.

It’s not lethal or dangerous it’s just very creepy and distressing to others who hear it and can be a way of telling if a person may be heavily distressed as the audios compared with my normal snores I only seem to make these sounds when in high distress or in a dissociative state when I sleep.

Oh man, that does sound stressful! So given the context of this ask, it sounds like you are likely to be young. In that case, it is not likely that you have something like cancer. It's not impossible, but it's unlikely.

(I was such a young hypochondriac, btw, I definitely convinced myself that I had breast cancer on a couple different occasions. Also appendicitis. And when I first got my period I thought I might actually be dying.)

If you are indeed young, keep this in mind: You might still be in the mid-late stages of puberty, which rapidly changes the way that your body works. Any stage in your development where you are going through a major hormonal change will significantly alter the way your body works overall. (Be prepared for this, by the way, if you ever decide to medically transition or go on T or anything like that. If you do, make sure you connect with other trans people who've also done what you're doing and ask them about their experiences. Preparing yourself for that bodily change will really help ease the process!)

It may also be stress, so consider doing some things that work for you: meditation, affirmations, time spent with friends. Exercise (while eating enough food, of course!) really helps me to de-stress. Engage in your hobbies. And if you have plans to change your living situation so that you can come out, perhaps you can also give yourself hope by looking into a game plan for that process. Make sure you do this on a locked or non-home computer. Again, use your community as a resource. Lots of other trans people have had to do this, which sucks but also means you're not alone and you don't have to do this alone either. Ask other trans people (or anyone who had to leave a toxic home, really) how they prepared. Do you have a job so that you can save money in the event that you get cut off? What does your social support network look like and how can you go about building it so that you're not going through all of life's hardships without support? Is there anything you can do to affirm yourself at home while you live undercover? (Shorter haircut, perhaps? Looser, longer pants? Looser t-shirts? Even wearing a sports bra is more compacting than most regular bras.)

But if you still experience a concerning amount of weight loss or other symptoms, please do advocate for yourself medically and look up what you can do in your state to get coverage for a check-up. I get it, I too live in 'murica. But sometimes there are programs that will get you seen for limited support on a sliding-scale cost basis. Get yourself taken care of! You deserve it!

I could write another essay [I mean i kind of still did but i meant a literal essay] but to get to the point the reason these servants are so investing is bc the Avenger is just conceptually the best class from a narrative standpoint.

What determines your status as a heroic spirit is your actions in life, and what those actions were determines your class. This applies to extra classes as well such as Shielder, Foreigner, Alter Ego, and Pretender. Avengers are the exception to this. To a lesser extent the Ruler as well, because they're opposite sides of the same coin. Rulers are people who have no wish for the grail because they live for tradition and an ideal of perfect balance. Whether they think the status quo is that ideal balance is irrelevant; Karl and Amakusa prove this. Astraea the impartial god, Qin Shi Huang the cyborg "one true human", Jeanne the inhumanly pure Saint, Even Sherlock who is so inhuman in his rationale that we have the traitor/beast theory, all of these are examples of how the Ruler is marked by an explicit lack of humanity that directly results from them lacking the most human quality there is: Desire. The ability to want something, to strive towards something, to truly care about something for reasons beyond cold logic, is something antithetical to the class itself. It's the entire reason Sieg's existence deconstructs Jeanne's role in Apocrypha.

The Avenger is opposite that - they are pure humanity, pure desire, and whether they desire love, suffering, wealth, chaos, or anything else, they desire it for the same selfish reason: Retribution. It's in the name, avenger. One who seeks vengeance for how they were wronged, as has been detailed before. To be an avenger requires no great deed, in fact the Requiem event states that by claiming King Louis XVII would be an avenger if he was ever summoned because of how he died before achieving anything. There's this gatekeeper mentality from StayNight-only types who claim Avenger is this specific role to be played and that only Angra Mainyu is a true avenger. Those people completely miss the entire point of the class, because they're using the rules the other classes have to judge the Avenger class. The entire point is that the Avenger is unique like that. Every other class is defined by pure action, but the Avenger is defined by pure emotion. To be hateful and angry is not enough to be an avenger, nor is it enough to feel wronged. We have berserkers for the former and to give an example of the latter Vlad being a berserker rather than Avenger or Pretender has merit, even factoring in cases like how Benkei would definitely be a pretender retroactively. No, the Avenger is a class for those who are defined by how the hatred they feel towards a world that wronged them irreparably. No deed need be commemorated, only the pain they felt. And the pain they felt is something that narratively speaking is what will most resonate with us - they are characters with an inherent reason for us to care about them simply because we can imagine the pain they are required to endure just to exist.

....So yeah. There's an explicit reason Avenger and Avenger-adjacent servants are typically the best ones. To quickly go through some of the ones you mentioned though,

NAGITO IS COMPLICATED AS FUCK LIKE BRUH

I plan on remaking this into an actual proper analysis of Nagito's character and actions and how that compares to the rest of the characters in the series (boy, wonder when that'll be) but meh, we'll see.

For me, Nagito isn't a character that deserves all the extreme hatred he gets from not only his classmates but also the fandom, a lot of the characters can be biased and hypocritical and a lot of the people in the fandom usually act the same way either because they hate Nagito or just think he is overrated. Nagito is a complicated guy and boi is it hard to explain EVERY FUCKING ACTION HE DOES BECAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY DAMN LAYERS TO HIS MOTIVES LIKE WTF MAN

One example is that apparently there are so many reasons to him laughing and talking about hope whenever someone dies (oooh boi let's go)

His hope obsession. He uses this as a coping mechanism (albeit subconsciously) to deal with all of the trauma his luck cycle of despair and hope basically forces upon him his entire life. The reason why he talks about hope is he believes that no matter the trauma and despair they face, hope will always shine in the end. That is what he has been experiencing his entire life and honestly can't really blame the guy since he is bombarded with that fact on a daily basis.

Good intentions. And following this, Nagito also wants the others to not be in despair and to look forward to a brighter hop and future so they don't give up and keep fighting on. Otherwise, no one else will move forward and everyone will be too depressed to even try escaping the killing game. No matter how much you hate Nagito, you can't deny the guy loves the ultimates. He wants them to thrive and escape the killing game. The reason he kickstarted the killing game is so that everyone has a chance to escape this hell, even the blackened. He wants to cheer everyone up with each dead body that appears so no one gives up. Sadly, due to everyone viewing his cheering-up method as insensitive and hurtful, no one actually gets cheered up by him. And we know he does care about others due to how Danganronpa 2.5 shows us his dream world, everyone else getting good luck while he gets the bad luck, Alter-ego Hajime says it himself that that world really is Nagito's dream world.

His beliefs. Nagito thinks of his beliefs as fact. He thinks it's obvious that Hope will always win and despair is nothing compared to it. This is why he gets confused whenever someone doesn't understand him or share his views. The same goes for his views on talent. When he insults the talentless, for him talentless=useless is the same as 1+1=2. It's obvious to him, a fact. And it makes sense since this is what he has been led to believe his entire life thanks to Hope's Peak and the entire world of Danganronpa. Nagito is basically a commentary on the views of Hope, Despair, and talent in the world of Danganronpa. So this is why he comes of as ignorant or rude when in reality to Nagito, he just thinks he is stating a fact of life, common sense. He doesn't fully get how wrong it is because to him it's obvious from the day you are born.

His laugh. Nagito has stated in his island mode (btw the only canon thing about them is the personalities of the characters, not that they actually happen in-game or in canon, same goes for his free time events anyways) that he doesn't laugh because he is having fun, but due to him being surprised. Now imagine seeing dead bodies, anyone would be surprised right? Alright, then Nagito is reacting appropriately lmao. He doesn't enjoy seeing dead people, the guy even hates watching realistic horror movies due to it being too real for him (getting kidnapped, parents dying, etc). So yeah, Nagito doesn't like death, he just reacts differently from others

And that's just a few reasons for him laughing and talking about hope with every death, AND IT WAS JUST TO EXPLAIN THAT. JUST TO EXPLAIN A SIMPLE REACTION TO DEAD BODIES.

I'm so hype about the overwatch deathlock rebels, finally my gurl Ashe gets a more clear background story but I sad at the same time because it seems like many hate ashe for unreasonable causes. They hate Ashe just because she gets in the way of a their ship. These are the same people who said they're not in the overwatch fandom because of ships, but throws rock just because McAshe is hinted to crush/smth. Btw I'm a McGenji shipper but I do like McAshe stuffs too and I see its potential as canon

I've been so out of things lately because I'm still REELING from that book, I swear I have never known a feeling quite like this one? xD I was afraid the book might end up validating a lot of toxic ideas people had about Ashe, but instead I feel it completely outruled them and showed that, whether people like it or not, she and McCree had a pretty good relationship (whether you wanna see it as romantic or not) back in the day. The minute these two were face to face in Reunion my shipper senses just went BONKERS, and I already thought that Reunion was all they'd ever give us, canon-wise... but nope, they just went all out with this book and now there's so much more context to so many little things in Reunion too *sobs* I am completely overtaken by these cowboy renegades, my head's cowboy brainrot 24/7 since June 1st xD

But yep, people are really unbearable with their mindless Ashe hate. I keep thinking that, if she were a guy, everyone trashing her would jump at the opportunity to ship her with just every possible male character they could find, not only McCree. I don't even know, honestly, just how difficult can it be to ship what you ship without turning any characters into boogeymen because "they get in the way of the ship"? It's a childish, dumbass thing I've seen in fandoms since I was a kid and I can't believe I'm still seeing it happen in this godforsaken year of 2021. Ashe and McCree are absolutely at odds in the latest events in Overwatch's timeline: I love the idea of them slowly regaining their trust in each other while working together to stop Null Sector, Talon or whatever they'll be fighting in OW2. But anyone who DOESN'T ship them? They can easily imagine whatever else they want to imagine for their future and move on just fine. McAshe absolutely can be seen as a past relationship, or even as a past friendship with unresolved feelings, when making content for any other ship with McCree or Ashe, if they even feel the need to acknowledge it altogether. It's not even challenging to do this.

Heck, as someone who has spent ages creating content for a ship that, however much traction it has gained lately, isn't likely to become canon, where one half of the ship has been in a canon, confirmed, actual relationship since the show ended (even if it's still not confirmed as his endgame relationship), this hissy fit by the Ashe haters, mainly from the-ship-that's-better-off-not-named, is beyond ridiculous. I've written stories where a canon relationship ends, giving way to my OTP, WITHOUT trashing the other character in the canon relationship, and without turning her into a monster just to justify my ship's existence. If I can do that without a hitch, I don't see how they can't? It makes no sense to me, honestly.

There's also an apparent uproar because McCree and Ashe are "het" now? There's no canon confirmed sexuality for either of them to this moment, no matter if there were definite sparks flying in Deadlock Rebels, just as there was no confirmed sexuality before the book. A lot of people think of McCree as bi, and that headcanon wasn't killed somehow by the contents of this book, was it? Heck, I'm even thinking of games like Dragon Age, where straight characters have deliberately been written to reject advances from any same-sex MCs, and players have made mods to romance them with same-sex MCs anyway because they don't give a flying fuck about canon sexuality if it's straight. In my experience? That's how fandom always works. Typically, it's when characters are confirmed gay that anyone who shipped them in straight relationships have to back off, since it's highly frowned upon to alter the sexuality of any gay characters. But even if a character has nothing but opposite-sex love interests in canon, the fandom always does whatever it wants. Why the heck is it different here, to the point of spewing that much vitriol at Ashe just because she exists and McCree is/was into her?

Oof, I just say live and let die, man. Frankly, I am living the dream with this book, I've loved every new tidbit of lore it offered, especially those recontextualized hints of Reunion content (hell, even the "plothole" with the Est. 1976 in the Deadlock logo was addressed, it's amazing xD). Apparently, McAshe shippers aren't entitled to "canon status" thanks to the cinematic, or through all the history these two characters share, history that's been expanded through this book... I find that fair and valid, but just so, no other ship is entitled to demand for canon status, not in this franchise, not in anything else, as far as I'm concerned. Blizzard has made a bunch of bad choices in the last years, there's no denying that, but as far as I can tell, caving in to what a certain cluster of fans demand just because their ship is "popular" has NEVER resulted in anything good. If anything, every time I've seen big media give in to whatever their loudest fans want, the quality of their content tends to spiral downwards at ridiculously rapid speed, because that isn't what their creative vision used to be, and it's not an organic choice but a forced one, done just to sell more (and typically, they don't achieve that goal at all). Could list a few examples of that, but I'd be here all day, I suspect x'D

If I may contribute to your statement about how much Agamemnon deserved death, it wasn’t just his daughters wedding day. He arranged for her to be married to Achilles so that she would be within convenient murder range. If I remember correctly, at least in Euripides’ telling of the events, even Achilles thought the whole thing was awful when he realized what was going on. So yeah, there is no telling of the story in which I feel bad for him.

Bioshock

 The title of this is simple because Bioshock is a game I almost forgot that I played, but as soon as I remembered it a truckload of Bioshock stuff came flowing into my mind, and I decided to write about it here so I can finally seal all the stuff about these games in my brain vault forever. The Bioshock series consists of three games, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite. Around when Infinite came out, I heard a lotta talk about how amazing it was, but I was like 10 at the time so I never got to play it until it was free on PsPlus a couple months ago, along with the other two. The first two Bioshock games are fairly simple, in story and in gameplay. But Bioshock Infinite took the entirely new level that thinking about it now, almost a year after playing it, still blows me away. I feel like Bioshock doesn’t get the recognition it deserves, the way that games like Portal and Half Life do. But when I say that Bioshock blew my expectations out of the water (that is a pun) is a huge understatement. 

So first, let’s start with the first Bioshock.  This game came out in 2007, and it really shows with very dated mechanics. The game feels old, and for me that made it way more difficult than it needed to be. Bioshock 2 on the other hand, came out in 2010, and while the story isn’t nearly as good, it’s definitely way more streamlined. I could definitely see myself going back and playing it again. Let’s start with the first game.

Bioshock

Bioshock starts with you on a plane, examining a letter, when the plane suddenly crashes in the middle of the ocean. You’re the only survivor, and the closest thing you can see besides the burning plane parts, is this strange lighthouse. 

This lighthouse is made of stone, and it’s tall and menacing but you enter since you have no other option.  The door closes behind you and the first thing you see is this.

As you go down the stairs behind it, you enter a pod with the door open, and pull the lever inside. The pod takes you deep, deep underwater, while playing you a small video from a projector. This is 1960, so it’s very old styled. This is the first time you hear the voice of Andrew Ryan, while he tells you his philosophy and why he hates the world as it is. His initial speech is the rule he will live by for the entirety of the game. He hates government, and religion, because as he says in the speech, they all believe “a man isn’t entitled to the sweat of his brow”. I’m probably phrasing it poorly, but he means the mans hard work. You then get the first view of his creation- Rapture, the city on the bottom of the ocean.

When the pod lands, you are met with the main enemy of this game- Splicers. I think this goes without saying but Rapture has some pretty advanced technology. They’ve learned to manipulate peoples DNA to extreme levels, giving them pyrokinesis and other things. These abilities are distributed in really cool looking bottles and are called Plasmids. There are many different types of Plasmids, but you’ll start with lighting in the beginning of the game

Splicers are the results of splicing your genes way too much; they’re like crackheads, but instead of cocaine they was gene splicing. Their faces are usually cutup and they’re usually absolutely insane. But after escaping the first one you meet, you get in contact with a man named Atlas. He tells you he wants to get the hell out of Rapture, and that Andrew Ryan is the reason it’s gone to shit. He tells you that he needs to get his wife and child out with him, but when you get so close to rescuing them, Ryan bombs the submarine they were going to escape on. 

Throughout your gameplay you will hear about the way Rapture used to be, before it was a warzone. You would hear about the power struggle between Ryan and someone named Fontaine, and you will learn about how Ryan killed his mistress who was pregnant with his child. This game is full of information explaining how things went down before your arrival. Unfortunately, I’m not the best with this kind of exposition. This is a personal thing but I always mess up the story when it comes to this form of story telling. 

Now I’m gonna try my best to explain something a bit weird. If you’ve ever seen anything bioshock, you probably know about their mascot, the Big Daddy. 

This right here is a Big Daddy. They’re not robots, more like giant brainwashed people in bit suits. Their voices are altered so they sound deep and menacing, and they’re by far the strongest enemy in the game. They’re made to protect the Little Sisters- the little girl next to the Big Daddy. Little Sisters are practically little blood suckers, they can sense where a dead body with some Atom (the substance they use in plasmids) and call them Angels. They’re children turned into indestructible mosnters that are just there to get Atom. They always travel together. You can kill the Big Daddy and either free the sister, or take the Atom from her body which would kill her. There’s a limited amount of Big Daddies and the game marks how many are left in each section. Obviously killing or saving these girls changes the ending you get. You team up with some german(i think) doctor that pretty much sees these girls as her daughters to stop Ryan and Fontaine, who wants to use them for more Atom. 

The rest of the story is a bit fuzzy for me, so I’m just gonna briefly explain it here. Fontaine wasn’t a good guy, and he faked his own death and turned out to be Atlas. He and a doctor (whos name I don’t remember but she was important) pretty much took you and wiped your memory, brainwashing you so that you’d always listen to the trigger ‘would you kindly.” This twist was the biggest mind fuck, because you realize that Atlas (now Fontaine) would say those words all the time. They planted fake memories of a family in your mind and sent you to the surface, and even the letter you were examining in the start had the trigger in it. You kill Andrew Ryan before this (forgot to mention it), and you move on to get rid of this brainwashing and kill Fontaine. And to fight you Fontaine fills himself with Plasmids and Atom and obviously this doesn’t work because video games. You end the game, saving all the little sisters and bringing them to the surface, and live out your life sort of as a father figure for them. Or if you didn't save them, you just bring a bunch of splicers with you, but I don’t think this is a canon ending. This game is a solid 6/10 for me, only because of how dated it is. 

Bioshock 2

Bioshock 2′s story is pretty much the same but with a twist this time- You get to play as a Big Daddy. Unfortunately this games story felt a bit too much like the first one so I don’t remember anything big about it. You play as a Big Daddy looking for his Little Sister. The game starts with a cutscene, showing you protecting her from splicers until you get murdered by Raptures new dictator- Sofia Lamb.  She takes your Little Sister and turns her into a normal girl again, raising her up to be Eleanor Lamb. You revive yourself years later (i don’t remember how) and go off to find her. The biggest difference between Andrew Ryan and Sofia Lamb is that the splicers seem to worship her. But at the same time Sofia uses Eleanor as some sorta messiah figure, so they could be worshipping her I don’t know. In this game you get to go through newer parts of Rapture, and even get to see the new variant of Big Daddy- Big Sisters. These aren’t like Big Daddies and I’m not even sure what their purpose is, but they’re just as difficult to fight against. I’m pretty sure they’re supposed to steal Little Sisters from their male counterparts and bring them to Lamb. Towards the end of the game, I’m pretty sure Lamb ends up destroying Rapture, and you escape with Eleanor, a bunch of Little Sisters, and depending on your ending you also save Sofia from drowning. This game was a 7/10, because the gameplay was much better but the story was sorta lackluster. I’m not even sure if this game is canon in the story.

Bioshock Infinite

Bioshock Infinite is the most different out of the three. I get the feeling that the devs got sick of the underwater aesthetic, so they said fuck it lets make a city in the sky. 

This is Columbia. A city in the sky. It’s the literal opposite of Rapture. It’s bright, it’s colorful, and it’s gorgeous. This was my favorite setting in the whole series. Plasmids are now Vigors, and it takes place in 1912 (I know, surprising). This games story is extremely complex, so if I get lost explaining it I’ll link a video explaining it clearly. In this game you play as Booker Dewitt.

Booker Dewitt is a former member of the Pinkerton National Detective Agency, scarred from the events of the Battle of Wounded Knee. When his debts from gambling start climbing too high, he is sent to Columbia to rescue a young woman named Elizabeth, who’s been trapped there since childhood. She’s kept in a giant statue protected by the Songbird, a giant bird with similar looks to the Big Daddies of Rapture. 

(This is Elizabeth btw. We never see Booker’s face except for some official art.)

All of Columbia is run by one man, Zachary Hale Comstock, He’s revered as some “Prophet”, and he seems to know everything about Booker.  He’s turned the people of Columbia into a sort of cult reminiscent of the KKK, based on Christianity and white power. Which makes him and all the enemies very easy to hate. Which is good. 

This cult is opposed by the Vox Poppuli, led by Daisy Fitzroy. She was originally the housemaid of Comstock’s home, but she fled when she was accused of murdering Comstock’s wife. She took her never ending hatred of Comstock and formed the Vox, a symbol of hatred for all of Columbia and men like Comstock. 

The story begins in July 1912, when Booker is taken to a lighthouse off the coast of Maine by two very odd twins, Robert and Rosalind Lutece (they are important later), being told “bring the girl and wipe away the debt.”  This lighthouse is very reminiscent of the old stone lighthouse from previous games. But this lighthouse doubles as a rocket silo, and Dewitt is sent to Columbia from here. 

The first thing that I personally noticed is Booker’s disdain for religion, because when he’s forced to be baptized to enter Columbia he’s extremely uncomfortable.  Soon he’s chased down by the authorities, since all of Columbia has been told by Comstock that any man with a scar on his hand in the shape AD is the devil, just like the scar on Booker’s left hand. 

After evading a lot of cops, we finally meet Elizabeth. She’s never really known anyone besides Comstock and the Songbird, and she’s missing a pinky. Besides that, she has a strange ability to create these tears in space time. The first time we see this is when she creates one to 1980′s Paris, a place she's always been desperate to go to. So they make a deal- She leaves Columbia with him and he takes her to Paris. 

After multiple shenanigans, Elizabeth ends up taking Booker and herself to a reality where Booker was the martyr of the Vox Populi. Booker sacrificed himself for Daisy here, and this started an all out war between the two factions. Fitzroy believes that the Booker we play as is either an imposter, or a ghost, and she sets her forces on him. With Bookers help, Elizabeth kills Daisy, and they try to escape via airship before Songbird forces them to crash.

At this point they learn a few things about Comstock; Comstock had the Luteces build a siphon device into the tower Elizabeth lived in to inhibit her powers, and he killed his wife and then the Luteces to hide the truth. Plus, Elizabeth is actually Comstocks adopted daughter. 

Elizabeth is kidnapped by Songbird. When Booker pursues, he needs to cross a bridge that happens to have a cloud passing through it. In the brief moment that clouds pass over the bridge, it goes from a bright sunset to a cold, windy dark snowstorm.  You fight through an old building filled with Comstock’s men, and learn that Elizabeth has already been tortured and corrupted by Comstock. She believes you left her there to die. And then, you learn that Comstock’s been dead for years now.  Then you finally meet Elizabeth, she shows you that you’ve been brought to 1984, and that she is using Columbia to attack New York. 

In that cloud over the bridge, you were running for what felt like a short time, but was really 72 years. Elizabeth sends you back, because she still doesn’t view you as an enemy, and she tells you how to save herself from Comstock, by controlling the Songbird. 

After freeing young Elizabeth, the pair assault Comstock’s airship, where Comstock and Booker argue about Booker’s knowledge of Elizabeth’s missing pinkie. This ends in Booker slamming the back of Comstock’s skull onto a baptismal font, right before drowning and killing him. They move on from the conversation, they use the Songbird to destroy the tower Elizabeth was held captive in, therefore destroying the siphon on her powers. 

Songbird turns on them again, but with the siphon gone, Elizabeth uses her powers to transport herself, Booker, and even Songbird to Rapture.  Booker and Elizabeth are inside, where they watch Songbird sink and die, being crushed by water pressure. 

At this point Elizabeth understands everything about her powers, and understands everything about whatever mystery there is left to this story. She takes Booker up the stone lighthouse, the very same one we saw in Bioshock 1, and basically explains multiverse theory to him. She explains that there are an infinite amount of lighthouses just like this. 

At this point, she knows Bookers history. She knows the truth, but Booker’s so traumatized that his brain legitimately erased the memory.  The rest of this is about Booker’s past, and how this all began. 

Booker was there for Wounded Knee. It traumatized him, made him resent himself, so some day he went to repent, to be baptized. But Booker couldn’t go through with it. he gained a massive debt, and in 1893, Robert Lutece approached Booker on behalf of Comstock, requesting that he “bring us the girl and wipe away the debt”, referring to Booker’s daughter, Anna Dewitt (hence, the AD on Booker’s hand.) Booker reluctantly agreed to hand off his daughter to wipe away his debt, but when he changed his mind, he chased Robert and Comstock down. Comstock tries escaping through a portal (the same portal Elizabeth can make btw) and the two struggle for the baby. Eventually, the portal closes, and Comstock snatches her away while the closing portal leaves her severed pinky in Booker’s hands. 

She explains that the Lutece’s have tried to recruit many Booker’s to stop Comstock, but all versions of Comstock will live on unless they try to stop his birth. So she takes Booker back to the baptism- but from another perspective. Booker changing his mind last minute at his own baptism sparked to life a universe where Booker went through with it, and was reborn from that moment onwards as Zachary Hale Comstock. After overusing the Lutece’s multiverse machine, he became sterile, and stole Anna to provide a biological heir for Columbia. 

We cut back to Elizabeth and Booker at the baptism pond, where multiple versions of her are appearing in front of him. The only way to stop Comstock is to kill Booker, so he allows them to drown him. And one by one, all the versions of Elizabeth disappear. 

This is the canon ending for the game. There are some more things in DLC, like Elizabeth going to Rapture to tie some loose ends connected to Comstock and Ryan’s abuse of the Little Sister’s. And it’s confirmed that Rapture scientists got the idea for Big Daddies from Songbird, and Columbia’s scientists came up with vigors from Rapture’s plasmids. The writers went as far to explain how everything in Rapture or Columbia came to fruition, and connected them all.

I’ve never gotten such an “It all makes sense now feeling” than when playing this game. They didn’t even have to connect it to the first two games but they did and they made it work way too well. Bioshock Infinite is the best out of the three, and thanks to this review I’ve finally gotten all that stuff out of my mind. This game is a 9/10 for me. I’d definitely play it again.

Episode 1: Youkai Hunting

-probably include and end with the Has It Begun? My Era? panels from Chapter 92

Episode 2: Future Prospects + Carried Away

-opening from chp 94 (the youkai getting pulled into the broccoli)

-Chapter 92

   --skip right over has it begun bc it was in ep1 and go straight into next scene

-Chapter 94

-end with dimple leaving after the “eat shit, dimple” smackdown I guess

Episode 3: The Psycho Helmet Cult Part 1(things start to get weird)

-Chapter 95

-if they wanted to, this would be the episode to add in a new scene with Tsubomi or remind the audience that takenaka was a character at one point

   --basically as just a bit of prep for the other two arcs

-either ends where vol13 ends (teru setting out for the broccoli) or ends where the teru fight cuts off (just after dimple reveal)    

   --I think ending with the dimple reveal is the way to go, plus this way there’s a fight scene in this episode and not two in the next one

Here’s how the episodes fit into your mp100 season patterns, which are Very Correct btw      

I big agree with you about having the youkai hunting as the first episode. It’s a super solid way to start the season. It’s also especially funny bc this chapter starts with a parody of the show’s usual introduction to psychics, replacing “psychics” with “youkai hunters”. It’s a good piece of mob growth+slice of life, at some point Amakusa wonders if the broccoli is attracting spirits that want to use its life energy or whatever (foreshadowing), plus inukawa (who plays a bigger role later in the season) is in it.   

For the second episodes, I would def say it’s just fun stuff for most of the ep, but I think another thing the second episodes do is that they end with something that sets up the third episode and is usually the start of a big chain of events. S1: join BIC, S2: reigen puts up the website, S3: dimple leaves      

Future Prospects is important to include here bc it’s an easy way to reintroduce mezato and the psycho helmet cult plot. It’s also some of Serizawa’s only screen time this arc and we can’t let it go to waste.  

Ep3 is still mostly a mob character study, bc a lot of the chapter is mob dealing with being (or suddenly not being) recognized as the psycho helmet cult leader + reacting to the spread of the cult’s influence in general.

Ep4 is the beginning of mob’s concrete The Broccoli Must Be Removed quest, which continues into Ep5      

Ep5 -Dimple was a friend r.i.p.

Side Note: I desperately want the omake adventures of Hoshino and Asahi to be referenced in some way. Maybe when the shiratori brothers show up they can have a “what are the other awakening kids up to rn?” 10 second bit.  

And now here’s the reason WHY I organized things the way I did, but it’s under a read more bc this post is already too long

So full disclosure: the reason I paced the broccoli arc the way I did is entirely bc it’s my favorite arc and I want them to take their time with it. It’s also an arc that requires a LOT of setup before getting to the payoff, so I’d like the arc to be more like 4-ish episodes instead of the 3-ish episodes you predicted. This isn’t an arc you can just kind of start. Part of why the separation arc worked as well as it did was because they were subtly setting it up all season with little comments here and there between reigen and mob. It wasn’t something that just happened one day. They had to lay the groundwork and build off of it, and this arc isn’t much different. 

Another thing is that the vibe of this arc is one that will take some effort to establish. The slow, creeping influence of the psycho helmet cult is unsettling, and then suddenly getting caught up in the effects of the widespread brainwashing is even worse, but in order for those feelings to really come across we have to spend time with them. Slowly realizing that something is very wrong and then being horrified by it is something that, unsurprisingly, has to develop slowly. And by ‘slowly’ I mean spreading it across two episodes (3-4) instead of shoving it all into one. 

This arc, more so than most of the others, is driven by a complicated combination of emotions that can very easily be misunderstood if they aren’t displayed fully. I know this because when I was reading this arc for the first time I read through it too quickly, and had to start over because I didn’t pay enough attention to what was going on and confused myself. One of the only weaknesses, imo, that the anime has is that they have to cut stuff out. This is usually fine, but sometimes it can have a significant impact on the audience’s understanding of a character. It’s something that happened with ritsu’s arc. It wasn’t really That much different in the anime, but a few lines were cut here and a few shots were skipped there and the result is that ritsu’s fall is a bit harder to actually understand. At least for me, somehow the manga only has a few more lines and yet it makes ritsu’s character and his whole character Arc much clearer. 

I feel like something similar happened in the anime with dimple. There isn’t much aside from a few cut omakes and punching Suzuki in the face that’s significantly different, but a decent amount of time his lines get cut or altered a tiny bit over the course of the series and ultimately the result is that manga dimple is a slightly different, and slightly fuller, character than anime dimple. Idk fam I just watch people’s reactions and I worry that the fact that dimple actually has feelings that can potentially be hurt isn’t something the anime-onlies are prepped for. 

If the anime doesn’t take its time in this arc, and decides to cut some things here and there the way it has in the past, it runs the risk of 1. Being all around harder to follow, 2. Feeling out of character, and 3. Not hitting nearly as hard. Feeling out of character is the riskiest part of all this because mob and dimple ARE acting out of character. That’s the point! They both get carried away and they fight and they do and say things they shouldn’t and usually wouldn’t do, but if it isn’t clear that that’s what’s happening then their behavior can feel confusing or even disappointing. 

One more thing. I love mob psycho fight scenes. I really do think they’re some of the best I’ve seen, and there are a lot of fights in this arc I can’t wait to see animated. It can kinda become a problem though if emotional content screen time is sacrificed for action content screen time. Not to beat a dead horse (or cat in this case), but, uh, *cough* mogami. I’d rather they go ham with the animation in the confession arc and spend more time in this one on the other stuff. 

There’s just a fuck ton of shit that happens in this arc and fitting it all in before episode 6 without rushing anything is gonna be a process. It’s possible, but it’s really gonna take some planning.
