Wild-ass 4 Minutes theory (that won't come true):

The visions are saying the "Buck knows women" thing that's gonna happen is partially rooted in eddie being petty about "It's like she sees me" Not like him being pissy just like "Why would you ask me???" "I thought your girlfriend sees you" bonus points for "I did too" and that's how it's revealed they broke up

ok so I just had an insane idea/theory/prediction about RWBY volume 9 come to me and I NEED to write it down before the finale tomorrow (technically today!).

Ruby's semblance is going to evolve when she emerges from ascension.

And I don't mean that she's going to get a new semblance, or that the ascension process will give her some kind of magical boost, I mean a brand new way of using her current semblance that she's never tried before.

Ruby's semblance is her Petal Burst, the ability to break down her body into rose petals, and then reassemble herself at a new location. But what if she didn't use her semblance on her body all at once, and instead transported just some of her body, effectively allowing her to split her body into multiple pieces.

This isn’t something too farfetched, we’ve seen her split into multiple collections of rose petals in the past.

If Ruby can split this rose petal form apart, who’s to say she can’t also rebuild her human self while split apart? She can already break down, transport, and rebuild multiple different people at the same time with relative ease.

So with the ability to break into multiple bunches of rose petals, and the ability to reform as many different objects, being able to split apart her own body seems like a natural progression of the semblance, no?

However, what convinces me the most that this is a genuine possibility is the fact that this has actually been foreshadowed. We've already seen a very important character split their body apart in this volume.

It always seemed a little weird to me that there was a lot of focus put on the Cat’s ability to split apart in chapter 4, only for it to not really go anywhere. Sure it was used for a joke or two, but now I feel like it was foreshadowing this entire time.

Ruby and the CC already have some character parallels (unattainable goals), so I find it entirely plausible that Ruby could take inspiration from the Cat’s powers and split herself up in a similar way. It would also mean that Ruby could kick the Cat’s butt by using their own power against them and I mean who doesn’t want to see that.

One random Frozen 3 theory

I’ve read a few theories about Frozen 3. And some of them talk about the recurring theme of Elsa being afraid of her powers, again. And I get where those are coming from. After all, most of Frozen has been about self love and self acceptance. But the more I think about it, and if the writers take advantage of the audience growing older, they could explore the opposite. They could explore the feelings of losing faith in someone you love or – what’s even more painful – starting to fear someone you love.

I know this most likely won’t happen because we know Anna’s love could hold up the world. But what if, for once in her life, Anna becomes aware of Elsa’s powers. I mean aware of the actual extent of her powers. What if Anna, for the first time, actually fears those powers. She can see the powers are taking over the sister she loves.

Elsa is finally okay and in harmony with her powers, but the more she accepts them, the more she uses them and the more she relies on them to solve her problems. Everything is okay as long as things are normal in their lives. But what about the day Anna or Arendelle are the target? What about Elsa finding out she may lose everyone she loves for good if she doesn’t intervene? What if the only option is using those powers to their full potential? And what if this time, Anna sees her sister as a person who is fully capable of going on a rampage to protect those she loves?

What if this time, Anna is the one that needs to convince herself that her sister is not dangerous. That her family and her kingdom are safe around her sister. All of this while she tries her best not to make her family or kingdom aware she’s losing faith in what she once believed to be an absolute truth. Elsa is not dangerous. This time, Anna is the one in her parents’ shoes.

Of course, Elsa manages to prove she’s as reliable as always. And maybe she isn’t aware this time Anna’s faith in her is faltering. But it would be interesting to see a character like Anna have her beliefs shaken to the core. Anna’s one of those characters that have so much strength that when she’s losing her strength, things feel hopeless.

Improvable theory? Of course. Interesting? 100%

My absolute crack theory right now is that what Jayce was indeed the future but it was the future he was going to bring about. The consequence of his actions.

It lines up with what Heimerdinger said about actions and reactions. I believe that it's possible Viktor would have been lead a peaceful if culty commune. Not that no problems would arise but it's not guaranteed to go wrong.

It's the absolutely most fucked up option too, the most tragic "we almost had everything" but through no fault of Jayce or Viktor they couldn't have it. Jayce acted on the best info he had out of good intentions, just like when he attacked the shimmer factory and make hexweapons, just like when he used the Hexcore on Viktor, he always wants what's best but it always backfires. He's the perfect hero in any other setting and I think that would be such a tragic arc for Viktor and Jayce

It's probably not gonna happen but god It would be so angsty and fucked up!

I think there's a lot of signs pointing to Jayce actually doing the right thing ...or at least the right thing based on the information available to him at the time.

We can't know for a fact just how much Viktor was changed and what his healing was doing to the people who came to him in the long run, but considering all the hints dropped by the writers, the situation is much less clear than we think. Obviously, everyone's first instinct is to condemn Jayce and his actions, especially because Viktor is one of fan favourites, but looking at the teaser for the next Act and what little we know about what happened to Jayce, I think it might have been necessary evil.

I think this scene of Viktor temporarily 'possessing' Salo in order to talk with Jayce points to just how fucked this little community that Viktor created actually is. There's a reason why everyone's getting those 'it's a freaking cult' vibes.

This scene made me more uncomfortable than anything else this season and I think it's clear that it was meant to make feel that way. There's something so uncanny about Viktor's voice coming out of Salo's mouth, especially paired with that look on his face and how Viktor seems to be able to see and experience things through him in this moment.

And then there's also the issue of all these people dying a horrible drawn-out death as soon as Viktor himself 'dies'. Yes, they came to him on their own, they asked to be healed, but did they really know what they are getting into? Did they know this is what might happen?

Some of them were already dying, true, but Viktor healed all kinds of people, some of whom most likely had their whole lives ahead of them. He, knowingly or not, inevitably sped up this process. Not all of them were consummed by Shimmer-addiction or permanently disabled like Salo.

And then there's also the fact of all of them basically abandoning their previous lives to serve Viktor and his community. Which, okay, makes sense, there's certainly a parallel with the community that Ekko created for Zaunites to keep them safe from Piltover and Silco's plans. They made an informed choice, though, and I don't think the same can be said about Viktor's cult-like commute.

They seem peaceful, yes, but also devoid of personality and entirely dedicated to Viktor and his cause. Of course, it can be explained by gratitude towards him and desire to be kept safe in a calm and peaceful environment, but it's taken to such an extreme point that it definitely crosses the line into uncanny territory in my eyes. Their hivemind behaviour is very unsettling and even though Viktor seems to frame his recent actions as some kind of greater good, I don't think it's necessarily true.

We have yet to find out what Jayce saw and who's in the right and who's in the wrong. Either way, as usual when it comes to Arcane, it seems to me that more than ever, everyone's a victim of the circumstances and tragedy spares no one.

Considering that Viktor is set up to be 'reborn', I can't help but wonder what it means for his community and if they will also be brought to life by whatever connection they have with him. It would be a fascinating choice given how Viktor's arc has always been about autonomy and making your own choices.

Arcane, it's been a pleasure having my heart torn out of my chest by you. Can't wait for the last Act.

thank you to everyone who has not only purchased the comic, but also had kind words to say in tags and through asks!! I am away for holiday for most of this month, and I have been/will be largely offline on account of this*-- but please know that my heart is incredibly full to know people like this story!!

A few recurring questions I'll answer here real quick:

Will Sacred Bodies have a physical print? Yes! I would like to self-publish this book after the fair is concluded and sell it at conventions and through my online store.

What are the Ba'It based off of? Their body/limb plan is based on pteradons!! with some bat and bird anatomy thrown in. Garaang are semi-bipedal so that makes the silhouette even weirder, but you see some quadrupedal stances in the comic and it might make more sense then. I don't want to post or talk too much about some of the minutae of their design, as it is part of the story itself. :}

What medium did you use for the comic? It's all digital; I used Clip Studio Paint to draw the entire thing. I use the base watercolour and design pencil brushes that come with the programme. How long did it take you to make the comic? It's a little hard to estimate-- initial ideas, visdev and writing drafts were intermitent at the start of the year; once I landed on the story, finalising the script would've taken no longer than a week of recurring writing and editing. It's the actual drawing that takes forever, unfortunately. I started thumbnailing around April, and pencilling, colours and painting were a 10-11 hour work-day commitment for most of June and July. (I lost a lot of work-time in May cause I fell ill, womp womp). I'd probably say it was 4 - 5 months of labour. Are you going to write more stories in this world? I would really like to! I have a lot of ideas rattling in my head for the Valley of the World-- the place that the folk of the Spire have escaped. That being said, I have a whole graphic novel to finish first! It has been pushed back on account (but not exclusively because) of me working on my SBCF entries the last couple years, and I don't want to neglect it any further!! (it's 350+ full colour pages though so it was always going to be a huge undertaking)
