I'm just gonna say it again real quick:
Yes!! Iron Man is a tragedy! It has and always has been since the very first appearance in 1963 which describes itself, Tony's life, and legacy, as such.
Tony causes most of his issues himself, he is his biggest villain, a majority of his rogues gallery are caricatures of the worst versions of himself brought to life (when they're not just being racist cuz...60s...). The worst thing about being Tony Stark is that he can't stop being Tony Stark (he tried!!) That is the point.
The majority of pain Tony goes through, is pain he inflicts on himself, whether intentionally or inadvertently. That is the point.
He is not A villain (at least. Not usually. There are...some rough moments and arcs that are. Not great. As there is with any character as old as he is). But he is his own main antagonist.

love it when a character that's hard to read intuitively for you has like a dedicated fandom interpreter who can just glance at their blank face in a panel and then give you a 3k word essay on their innermost thoughts & desires & fears and neatly tie it back into the themes & whatnot as if it's the most obvious thing in the world
#im talking about griffith btw#guts i feel i get intuitively - maybe because i have some personality traits in common with him#and we get more about his life concretely told to us in canon. so he is a bit easier to pin down as a character and feel attached to for me#but whenever i was reading the manga i just kept wanting more insight about griffith's actions and feelings#like ok yeah its fun to have mysterious antagonists and suspense /tension etc but its also fun to feel like you deeply understand them too#and i felt like that was a bit missing from him for me in canon#so reading about him in analysis and fics is the most fun for me rn#he always felt kinda half unreal to me- which maybe was the point of him - but i wanted a bit more about his childhood or something?#and wished we had more stuff explicitly from his pov in the story to read or explanation about his transformation or wtv#and now he's so much more closed off to me even than he was in the golden age. i keep waiting for him to explain stuff and he does not#ANYWAYS all this rambling to say some people out there are very good at interpreting him and making his like. insecurities#more obvious to me bc i didnt really get that side of him from canon intuitively well#also im really enjoying reading the first few berserk fics ive read#there may not be a ton of them out there but there is def writing talent in the fandom#i'll share some recs once i'm done sifting through most of what's out there to read#also (not to tie everything back to death note but it IS my home fandom after all)#i feel griffith is obvs the more light-like character here and L maybe a bit guts-like? but unlike berserk in death note#light is the one you get to know best and L is the mysterious / unreal one you don't get a lot of concrete insight into#and in the DN fandom I can read the more mysterious character intuitively but had to warm up to the less mysterious one instead#and the mystery of L makes sense to me and doesnt bug me as much due to like - he HAS to hide a lot about himself or else he will die lol#so some similarities there but also some opposite feels as well#berserk spoilers#p

omfg in the end of Saiki K Live Action its pretty much implied he was going to let her have the date she worked so hard for because she had solved everything else, then the rival school delinquents attack, etc etc and when he rewinds the time to do it perfectly this time, he catches Teruhashi's coy glance his way and he exasperatedly smiles with affection. thats the only way i can describe that expression literally he looks like hes trying to hold his face in place but the smile is bursting out by force causing the awkwardness. ok so in wat Renarin saw two(? If I’m remembering right?) visions of himself in listener style clothing- and the second time he mentally points out that the clothes are built to emphasise features he doesn’t have (carapace). And like I’m sure that’s a background don’t need to pay attention to detail but smth about how one of his first thoughts on seeing a vision where he is HAPPY. FOR ONCE. Is to point out where there’s still visually smth off about him. The clothes are nice but he doesn’t fit them. Even in good things he’s seeing what’s odd or ‘wrong’ about him.

in hindsight, when i first saw bad explaining lore to forever during that legendary 16 hour stream and bad had already, in the early days of brazil, previously established a routine of saying like "ok!" or whatever to the daily server restart message (a message that was early enough in his time zone that he definitely would not have slept and woken up to greet it) SHOULD have clued me in to the fact that this guy never fucking sleeps but holy shit can cucurucho non-canonically scare the fear of god back into him so his head touches the pillow for more than like thirty minutes like WHAT. i mean at this point i'd even suggest sending someone in the code monster skin to float there menacingly and then say in fuckin hatsune miku voice or like chipmunked audio just. Just got a mail from my MdB (SPD) on why he will vote against the AfD Verbotsprüfung. I know i shouldn't put faith into A. liberal activism and B. the SPD having a spine but the Verbot was my last hope in this system despite knowing it's pitfalls - and now it's gone.
#i'm a fencesitter. i know and fully agree that liberal democracy will always enable fascist powers to rise again#and that i should put energy into communist action instead. the theory checks out.#but i often see takes that would reject any positive change so as not to take away momentum from the revolution and i don't agree with that#since lets be honest there isn't a lot of momentum right now in the first place and even voting is getting more results rn.#and if i were to disengage - what would i do instead. realistically.#either become a dkp karteileiche or get kicked out of the ko (the party one) because i cannot meet the active participation requirements#so i'm not going to dismiss liberal action. i've been writing plenty MdBs about the Verbotsprüfung and enticing others to do the same.#and next i gotta try using my BPD superpowers to manipulate the SPD MdB into feeling really bad and maybe change his mind. Any ideas?#because a reply á la “oh ok then sorry for bothering you” won't cut it. gotta put pressure on.#and he actually read my entire mail and didn't use a template to reply like the cdu wankers did! so chances are he will read my reply.
