Ka'anh watches as the other in front of him moves, reacting to his voice carried away by the harsh whip of a sand-filled storm; The figure rises from the orange and leaves behind stains of red, appearing similar to the spot where Ka'anh himself had risen moments earlier, which almost makes the situation as a whole feel eery.

Keep your weapon up, a voice tells him, and so he does - making sure his gun remains focused on the other specimen's form.

It's only confirmed, that strange sensation, when the stranger finally lifts his head enough; Eyes that Ka'anh has seen before stare back at him, fierce and unmoving, and perhaps they're even widening in sync with his own as shock crashes through his entire, exhausted being. He feels his features falter, expression losing his grasp on his composure, and Ka'anh's lips part as he tries to process what he's faced with at this very moment.

Why does he look like... him?

Something is wrong, his inner voice screams, and Ka'anh immediately jumps into fight-or-flight response; He lifts his previously slightly-lowered weapon back up, bares his teeth like an angry animal, like a man who's faced naked brutality before, his stance switching to that of a soldier as his right leg slips forward, the left back.

A solider who's exhausted, confused, in pain - and desperate.

"So ghaiese eiqe?!" (Who are you?!), he shouts, spits even, sending specks of red flying through the air - saliva mixed with the tang of red copper, carried away by the harsh wind. "Blaiese fou! Achbl frafr goiene zysc achbl prieenek bluv - hupr bloi cou zieesebl briene bluv hoabomaiene icpsheei!" (Explain yourself! I will shoot if I have to, so don't even try to fool me!)

Screaming those words into what essentially must be hell manifested into a planet takes more effort than expected; White hot pain shoots through him like Ka'anh got struck by lightning, his brain burning from the concussion and unbearable heat. He groans from deep within his lungs, eyes squeezing shut for a second as he starts to topple over, but manages to prevent himself from landing face-first in the blistering sand by using his free palm to stop his descent. He now bows instead, coughing crimson from somewhere inside his chest, gasping for air before he using whatever strength remains to stand back up and lift his weapon back into position.

Don't let your guard down---

His eyes meet the ones of his doppelganger once more, who appears more blurry than before; The wind picks up for a moment, sending sand flying into both their faces, making him squint and shake his head in an attempt to get his own damn hair as well as the particles of orange out of his face.

He then speaks, shouts again, though his voice sounds more broken now - a body at its limits.

And within his rage, his pain, his fear, Ka'anh doesn't eve realize that there's one thing that's different between them: The spoken language.

"Fretieese... fou! ---Achbl friesef ceesestahad eiqe, bloi cou... briene bluv... cescou icpsheei!" (Identify... yourself! ---I'm warning you, don't... try to... trick me!)

The lights had been screaming.

Only in the way that electricity can, vibrations in the air cascading over him like a waterfall, reds and yellows. Humming beneath the pads of his fingers, the Vengeance sung to him, steel and copper sculpted with his hands, a valkyrie to soar through the cosmos. The damage had been gifted by the Enterprise, though far and few between-- were it not for the malfunction, he would have decimated the opposing ship without so much as an afterthought. Enough to spare the tubes that held his people, and little else.

It had to have been the warp core.

Khan is thorough in his design, immaculate, the careful crafting of a manmade god weaving all as it ought to be. And yet, he was not alone in manufacturing the dreadnought, this the only thought that he recalls before the vessel wretches in the warp lane, careening to its left before darkness drapes over his thoughts like a veil.

--Groaning metal permeates his thoughts as he drifts in and out of consciousness, the wreckage of Marcus' dream strewn about, already dusted with orange sand. Heat touches the back of his neck, a whisper that singes the skin, so that when he truly awakes heat is momentarily all that he knows. Belly to the harsh sands, hair falling in his eyes and shielding most of the terrain.

The first sensation that Khan knows is pain. It aches and it aches, filling his lungs along with grit with every breath. Long digits burrow into the dust, flexing while he recalls himself. Light and dark, something then nothing. The jagged earth cuts his lips, the side of his face that rests upon it.

Tra! Tra, eiqe! -- renders a painful tension through him, the deep voice cutting through dulled senses. Within the fog that befalls his mind, he doesn't quite catch that the syllables do not compliment any language he knows. Therein the primal aspects in his skull, the lizard brain, warn him that it does not matter. He is not alone.

Ignoring the way his body pleads when he moves, Khan lifts himself to a crouching position, blindly groping for a weapon that no longer remains attached to his belt. Lost in the wreckage that has spewed him, he thinks bitterly, leaving only fists and teeth. The curtain of black locks do little to clarify his opposer, both blurring into one another as he attempts to focus. Breathe.

Do not kill.

Each fairytale written or recited tells him to-- attack the doppelgänger, the imposter, the thief. A trick of the desert, the notion flits around him, just out of reach amid a torrent of fatigue not unlike a miasma intending to suffocate him. From the depths of his throat escapes a grunt when he rises, swaying ever so slightly, primed for the attack yet entirely ignorant of the situation at hand. The longer he stares, the more tangible the man in front of him.

Like looking into a mirror.

"What are you?" Blood pools beneath his tongue, dribbles down his lip before he swallows, iron all the way down, "What sort of trick is this?"

Eerie Dating other Eris-Sonas

I got bored so I did a bit of digging through the sona pile and picked up a few interesting ones. It feels like everyone was reblogging eachothers' sonas, so it was kinda hard figuring out everyone's lore lol (This isn’t canon for any of the other Eris-sonas nor for Eerie, this was just flr fun lol)

First off is Yuka by @justeyuko (kind of short bc all I know about her is from her profile on the big Eris-sona drawing)

Yuka seems to be very energetic, just the kind of traits Eerie would like in a person (He also liked her style too)

He'd approach first: the tattoo shop would seemingly cease around their conversation

He'd compliment her clothes and ask her where she got them (This is happening in Eerie's senior year of high school where he's just about to leave, but wants to look around town b4 then)

Eerie would flirt with her occasionally, but it's more of on and on talks (It would thin out more once he leaves for the military)

If anything, they'd be more like batting buddies or shopping buddies

Eerie is after all, a rich kid

Their relationship would be more like a joke "Wanna date? Sure" They'd hit it off in the first two or three dates, but after awhile Eerie would lose interest and ask to breakup

The only thing he had going for Yuka was her clothes :/

Knowing how Yuka would probably get angry, Eerie settled for a friendship over losing connection entirely. It wouldn't be a big, intimate relationship but it'd be alright

It was probably better they stayed as just friends (platonic)

Now, second is Contrectatio by @loah-blublub

Eerie was originally a bully of Contrectatio

Eerie couldn't give two shits about some loser who only looked pretty when doused in yellow toilet water

But something about how Contrectatio would stare deathly into Eerie's body made him excited

Eerie was curious why Contrectatio was so angry (Eerie has no empathy) and if the boy actually fight him

Eerie would approach first (he's very forward in his early years; this is probably freshmen or sophmore year)

Eerie would give Contrectatio a normal ":3" face, telling him how much he 'sympathizes' for Contrectatio and want the best for him

Eerie knew something like petty words wouldn't sway the other boy, so he decided to treat Contrectatio out for some normal 'dates'. Eerie didn't label them as dates, but he heavily implied it.

He would give lovey dovey romantic suggestions to Contrectatio, knowing how much it confused the boy

Before Contrectatio could fully understand his feelings, Eerie would cut all contact and begin bullying him again

This time it was harder, meant to incite something out of Contrectatio

Eerie felt even more elated when he began to notice how aggitated and confused Contrectatio was; battling with their earlier romance and his present anger

Eerie wouldn't officialy date Contrectatio. The dating plan was only for Eerie to get close and then rip it all away so Contrectatio would lash out

Eerie didn't care if Contrectatio actually did begin to understand his developing feelings; Eerie only cared about the end results

I'm not sure if Contrectatio would actually lash out, but here's two reactions if/if not

If Contrectatio actually did lash out, Eerie would happily beat him up more. Leaving him with a nasty scar on his left cheek, some strangle marks, and a hot round of punches to the ribs

If Contrectatio didn't lash out, Eerie would slowly get irritated and tell his other bully-friends to kick Contrectatio out of their group and start bullying him again

Description: Working for Mr.Yoo Kihyun was an absolute nightmare; Y/N hated everything about him, and was convinced he was either part demon or at least some sort of reptilian hybrid- never in a million years would she have expected to learn that he was, indeed only human, and even worse; that he might even be…likeable?

I sat at my desk, my face buried in my work as I tried to figure Kihyun's (and my) itinerary for our business trip to Korea. He had so many meetings that I needed to be in with him, that I could barely fit in any down time for myself.

My desk phone started to ring and I saw that it was coming from Kihyun. I sighed and bit my lip before I picked up the call.

"Yes, Mr.Yoo?" I asked.

"Y/N, I'm gonna need you to stay late tonight. I need you to figure out the building permits so that we'll have them in time for Tuesday morning when we leave," He said.

I shut my eyes tightly, trying to control my tone, "Are you sure you need me to stay late? I'd be happy to come in early for the rest of the week-"

"I want them done as soon as possible, so I need you to stay tonight and possibly come early as well," Though I couldn't see him, I was almost sure he was only half-paying attention to the conversation, as he was probably going through his schedule.

"Mr.Yoo, I think I'd really just prefer to come early-" I started feeling exasperated.

"And I'd prefer for you to do as I ask," He said, his tone steady but firm.

I looked down, defeated, "Yes, I'm sorry Mr.Yoo... I'll stay," I said.

Without another word, he hung up the phone.

I put my phone on the receiver and propped my elbows onto my desk, letting my face fall forward into my hands. My blood boiled, but the mental exhaustion that I felt was too great to dwell on it for too long.

Believe it or not, it was my dream to work at Yoo Industries, from the time I was in high school. My father worked here in the marketing department when it was owned by Kihyun's grandfather. I wanted to work in marketing myself, but no positions were open. Desperate to just find a job, I accepted the first one I saw; the position of a personal assistant to the CEO. I thought it would be a sure-fire way to secure a career in the company, but it seemed like I was at a complete standstill.

And yet, I still have hope...

When people started packing up to leave, I stared longingly at the elevator, wishing I could be one of them... thought it was quite a peaceful experience to be the only one in the office. Then again, a big con was having to stay late with Kihyun.

I was already feeling tired, though it was only about half an hour later than when I would normally leave. I yawned and stretched out in my seat. "I need coffee...I wonder if they're still open," I said.

I grabbed my mug and took the elevator to the lobby. Sure enough, Shownu stood at the counter, though it looked like he was getting ready to close up. I sprinted as quickly as I could in my heels.

"Oh wait!" I called out, causing Shownu to look up.

He smiled at me as I stood at the counter trying to catch my breath.

"Are you still open?" I asked between breaths.

"Well..." He looked around, a thoughtful look on his face, "Not usually, but I can make an exception," he said with a sweet smile, causing my stomach to turn to knots.

"You sure? I don't want to get you in trouble," I said, concerned.

"Don't worry about it," He gently grabbed the mug from my hand, "Besides, it's the least I can do for our prettiest customer..." He said, his sweet smile turning too a smirk.

I blushed uncontrollably and looked down. Suddenly, I as feeling wide awake.

He filled my cup and then handed it to me, "Thank you," I said with a smile.

I reached into my wallet for the money to pay for the coffee, but he put his hand up and waved me away, "This one's on me..." he said, making direct eye contact with me.

I didn't know how to react- I mean, I wanted to jump across the counter and have him right then and there- but I managed to nod.

"Wow... what a gentleman," I said, trying my best to sound flirty but not too eager.

"Thanks Shownu," I said before turning around and walking into the elevator.

This time, when I turned around, I saw only Shownu, who was still watching me as the doors closed.

My face was still burning when I got up my floor. Kihyun was sitting leaning on the front of my desk, his face glued to his phone. My heart dropped as I waited for him to notice the coffee in my hand and start yelling at me. I walked over to my desk- and him- with my head down and I put my coffee next to me.

"Did you need something, Mr.Yoo?" I asked.

He seemed to not have heard me, so I sat down and waited for whatever he as gonna say. I sipped my coffee, and I could practically feel my eyes dilating when the caffeine kicked in. Now, I was ready to work.

"You ever feel stuck?" His voice cuts through the silence as he looks up at the empty office, catching me off guard.

I was unsure of how to answer him, not only because of how random the question is, but because of how personal it seemed.

"I'm not sure what you mean, sir..." I said, choosing not to answer.

He stood up and fixed his blazer, keeping his back to me.

"Nothing. Where were you?" He asked, finally turning around.

He spotted the coffee cup next to me on the desk and  sighed, "Never mind," he said.

He was usually quite rushed and energetic, but in that moment he looked as exhausted as I felt. He went back to his office without saying anything else. II hadn't realized that I'd been holding my breath, but once he'd closed the door behind him, I was finally able to exhale.

Do you ever feel stuck? His words rang in my head.

"The answer is...yes," I said, more to myself than to him.

It was 8:30pm, and I'd spent the entire evening doing the necessary research for the permits we needed in order to build the offices in South Korea. I hadn't seen Kihyun since the moment he'd had at my desk, and I was wondering how he was doing.

Kihyun walked out of his office without a word, got in the elevator. Surprisingly, he kept his head down the entire time. That was quite unusual for him.

My phone buzzed on my desk next to me, and Karina's name popped up on the screen. I picked it up and opened the message. Of course, in true Karina-fashion, she sent me a gif  of an old lady twerking.

Karina: Karaoke bar again this Friday?

I bit my lip, unsure of her plan. My phnoe buzzed again.

Karina: Come on, Lizzie was so mad we went without her last time. She said she'll buy the first round ;)  

I rolled my eye and replied to her message.

Me: Idk... I've got a bad feeling about it

Karina: Well don't. Your boss ain't gonna go to karaoke two weekends in a row. Normal ppl don't do that.

I chuckled and rolled my eyes, relaxing a bit.

Me: Normal ppl don't do that? Geez. What does that make us? Alright alright, we'll go. But if we see him, we're LEAVING.

Karina: Deal.

I sighed and put my phone back down. Just then, the elevator doors opened and Kihyun walked out holding two brown paper bags, one in each hand. They had the logo from the All-Night cafe, which was a few blocks away. My stomach growled, and I was glad he was still too far away to have heard it.

I looked down and pretended to be doing my work.

"Here," He said, placing one of the bags on my desk.

"Oh, did you need me to check it?" I asked, confused.

He shook his head, "No, it's for you."

"Oh no, Mr.Yoo, I'm not hungry, really-"

"I got it for you. You haven't eaten since lunch. Just eat it," He said, making his way to the entrance of his office.

I didn't know how to react- he'd never done something like this before.

He grabbed the handle to the door, but took a moment to glance at me, "and I heard your stomach growling... you're not a very good liar," He said with an eye roll.

I blushed, embarrassed.

He walked into his office, leaving me with the delicious aroma of whatever was in the bag. I reached into the bag and pulled out small cardboard box and a black container of fettuccine alfredo and broccoli. My mouth watered instantly at the sight of the pasta.

My favorite!

I put the container aside for a moment to see what was inside the little box. I opened it and was surprised to see a little pink cupcake with a small, edible pearl in the center of the frosting. I almost couldn't believe my eyes, and I glanced at his door in confusion.I grabbed my phone and look for Kihyun's contact.

Me: Thank you for the food, Mr.Yoo.

I then took a picture of the cupcake, deciding I had to document this uncharacteristically kind gesture- also, the cupcake was pretty.

My phone buzzed in my hand, and Kihyun's name popped up on the screen.

Kihyun: Don't worry about it.

I sighed and put my phone down. My stomach was growling even louder than before, soo I reached for the container of food and dug in.

"He did what!?" Karina and Lizzie exclaimed in unison.

Even through Facetime, they were far too loud for me.

"He bought me dinner...kind of. I mean, we were staying late because we were working on getting the building permits done," I explained.

"That sounds so romantic!" Karina squealed.

I rolled my eyes, "No, no, no. It was business. We weren't even in the same room for most of the time," I said.

"Well, what'd he get you?" Lizzie asked.

"Fettuccine and a cupcake?" I said, unsure of what that had anything to do with.

"Girl! He got you pasta???" Karina asked.

"And a cupcake, don't forget the cupcake," Lizzie added.

I was getting annoyed, "So what?"

"SO, pasta is like, a sexy meal, you know?" Karina said with a serious expression on her face, as was Lizzie's.

"Pasta is a sexy meal," I mocked Karina, "Do you people realize how ridiculous that sounds?"

"What about the cupcake? Was it like, Safeway brand?" Lizzie asked.

I shook my head, "No, it was from the All Night Cafe. You know that super hipster place we went to for Lizzie's birthday two years ago?" I said.

They squealed once more.

"Am I talking to twenty-five year olds, or teenagers?" I asked, irritatedly.

They laughed at my expense.

"Wait..." I said, remembering the picture I took of the cupcake, "I took a picture of the cupcake."

"Send it to me!" Karina exclaimed.

I chuckled, "Fine. But after I send it, let's move on from this subject," I said.

I went to my gallery and grabbed and selected the picture of the cupcake and then sent it.

"Let me know when you get it," I said.

"Kay," Karina said.

A moment or two went by and I picked my phone up again, "Did you get it?" I asked.

Karina and Lizzie shook their heads, "Nope. Maybe you have to hang up- sometimes the messages won't send when you're on Face time," Lizzie said.

I nodded, "Okay, I'll hang up. Let me know when you get it," I said, pressing the End button on the screen.

I went to my messages and pressed on Karina's name, but I didn't see the message.

Hm...that's weird.

Suddenly, Kihyun's name popped up on my phone.

What the..? He never texts me after hours.

I pulled his name down on the screen, revealing the message.

Kihyun: ???

I was confused, so I opened up the entire conversation.

"Crap!" I squealed.

On the thread between Kihyun and I, was the picture of the pink cupcake he'd bought me.

Meaning: I Love You

He's been dating you for almost 3 months now, he's been trying to tell you just how much he loves you, but he can never get the words out.

You were laying on the couch with him, your head on his lap and his fingers in your hair, you were scrolling through your phone and looked up at your boyfriend who was looking at his phone.

"Binnie?"

"Hm?"

"Will you teach me some Korean?"

Soobin looked down at you with a smile, (this was his chance!)

"Of course sweetheart" you sat up and looked at him.

"Yes!"

"What does it mean?" You giggled.

Later you laid back in your original position and looked up at him.

"Hey", he looked down at you and hummed.

Yeonjun didn't exactly have you yet, you had just moved to Seoul a couple months ago, but you two had become really close in those short months, Yeonjun was so beyond in love with you, and all his friends could see it... if only you could too.

You were chilling at his house one day when all the power in his house went out.

Luckily it was still day time, so you pulled back all the curtains and let the sunlight in, you both sat on the floor playing a card game to pass time while waiting for the power.

"Jun! Teach me some Korean!" You smiled.

"Huh? You wanna learn Korean?"

"Yeah! You already know English so I can't teach you that... but you can teach me Korean!"

"Alright.... what do you wanna learn?" He said laying down his cards.

"Joh-ahae" his heart ached at the words... he felt like he was in a drama, hearing those words roll off your lips made his heart race.

"Good" he smiled..

"Wait.. what does it mean???"

"It means.... I like you, and... its how I feel about you"

It was your turn to blush and have your heart racing.

"Really.... i like you too Jun!" You smiled.

"You do!?" His eyes lit up with hope.

Beomgyu and you just started dating a few days ago, you had a picnic at the park and enjoyed Gimbap and Boba, Beomgyu also picked some sticky rice cakes too.

You both sat on the blanket and watched the clouds glide across the sky.

"Hey Beomgyu? You should teach me some Korean!" You smiled.

"Okay, I have just the one!" He smiled at you, that beautiful smile that you fell in love with.

Taehyun and you had been sort of together for a while now... you both admitted your feelings to each other, but never really made it official... until... you asked him a question.

Taehyun almost choked on his water, he looked at you in pure shock.

"You heard me... how do you say it?"

"Well there's a few different ways... but easiest would be 'woori sagwija"

"Okay...so then.... woori sagwija!" You nodded determined.

"Allaseo" he smiled

"What does that mean?"

"I got it" he winked.

Meaning: You're Cute

Huening Kai was definitely the best boyfriend you've ever had! Not only was he absolutely gorgeous, but he was adorable and sweet too, but he could also be a little trouble maker too, either way you loved this boy!

One day you were walking down the sidewalk, he kept greeting people in Korean and bowing and smiling, you got a little jealous.

"I wanna know Korean!" You pout.

"You wanna know Korean?"

"Yeah... you can talk to people and greet them..."

And so we’re back for another end of month wrap up! Looking back I feel like I didn’t watch too many new things; I finished a few shows that I talked about last month (the 100, Blood & Treasure to name a few). I guess it’s good I watched less-maybe I went outside more?

DERRY GIRLS SEASON 2

You all already know how much I love this show, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I’m starting with it I was SO EXCITED to hear that season 2 was coming to Netflix August 1st and I tried my best to drag out watching the episodes. But it’s really really hard when there’s only 6 of them (a half hour each) and they’re just SOO GOOD! So I finished in about a week, but I guess that’s better than a day. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I think I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1. I laughed so hard (and got a little teared up in the last episode-especially afterwards when it was over and I discovered that next season won’t start filming until 2020!) I LOVED the stories this season and how the adults got more of a major plot-line in each episode. At times I laughed harder at them (at the movie theater, Gerry making the sandwiches at the funeral). More people seriously need to check out this show. It’s hilarious and a quick watch that you won’t want to end. 

KRYPTON SEASON (SERIES) FINALE

Syfy’s Krypton ended a few weeks ago, but I was holding off watching it until last week. I know I had said this in my last review, but this season was tough for me to get into, but once I did then I was really enjoying it. However, once we got to the last couple of episodes I was losing interest again. Plus, hearing that the show was cancelled made it harder to finish. SPOILERS! So, we knew they had to defeat Zod and it made sense that he is now under the Black Mercy (like Lyta was), but obviously this is only a temporary fix. He’ll definitely find his way out; he’s smart. Then Brainiac and Doomsday are still an issue, so while things are safe for now things didn’t exactly get settled. Now I get they thought they’d get a third season so things would have to be resolved later, but this still feels like a lot. Of course I’m upset that we won’t see Jor-El getting rescued AND the next season build up with Brainiac taking him to Earth to create his very own “Superman” seems really interesting. But we won’t see it. Meanwhile Nyssa is off world and Lobo is back (he was funny so I was happy to see him again). Like I said, I’m not surprised the show got cancelled, but I think a third season would have been good. What do you think?

CATCHING UP 

ARROW

It might have been MONTHS in the making, but I FINALLY caught up and finished Arrow season 7. I was only 3 episodes behind, but it took me a very long time to complete. My main comments on this season was that the beginning was good and the rest was eh. I liked Oliver in the prison and while I was done with Diaz very early on I was happy to see that story-line resolved. Now, while I did take a very long time to watch this season in entirety (and that might be the main reason I feel this way), Oliver being in the prison feels like A LONG time ago (and a completely different season). When I look back on this season I really just think of him and Emiko who I was not a fan of. We lose Thea and welcome another half-sister who we learn knew about the sinking of the Queen’s Gambit before anyone else. The constant back and forth of trying to save Emiko got very repetitive and while I know Oliver as the hero could not give up on her fully, I wanted him to. I was also not a huge fan of the flash forward this year. At times I did like it, but I think the show did fine that one season when there was no added plot-line. The ending to this season was a disappointment. I was very curious how things with Felicity would end seeing as how she is not going to return for the final season. But overall it felt very much like a SERIES finale, which makes me worried for the last season. Will it just feel like a filler? How many people will return? Will we even be in Star City? Taking Oliver away like that sucked and I really hope he gets reunited with his children.

THE FLASH

As a big fan of all the CW Arrow-verse shows this past season I had a hard time getting into most of them and got VERY behind on episodes before just giving up on watching altogether. While Arrow was one that I was just a couple episodes behind for most of the year and Legends of Tomorrow I binged all at once the Flash and Supergirl dropped off my watch-list. This was sad for me because I had enjoyed these shows a lot, so now at the end of summer we’re giving it a second go! This month I began the 5th season of the Flash and am currently on episode 5? I only remembered the first 2 episodes, which shows you how long ago I stopped watching. I remember not being a huge fan of Nora West-Allen and this is mainly because they are making the actress seem a lot younger than she is. The mistakes she makes and her overall attitude feels better suited for a pre-teen/young adult rather than someone in their twenties. I’m still holding out hope that this changes as the episodes progress. I really love this idea of having Barry and Iris’ daughter in the past (because it feels very much like something Barry would do) and how they are still addressing the headline of the Flash’s disappearance. I feel like maybe as we uncover more about Nora’s past I will enjoy her character more. This season I like the return to the CCPD and Iris’ blog. Sometimes the alter-ego jobs get pushed aside and I am happy to see the return of Barry and Iris in the field as themselves. With this addition to her character plus the fact that Nora is being completely rude to her, I feel this is the most I’ve like Iris in a very long time. I love how she stands by her decision of keeping Nora’s powers a secret even though she hasn’t done so yet, and the fact that Barry is with her. I’m glad they’re finally taking her character to places outside of STAR Labs. I think Caitlin’s story-line of finding her father is really interesting as well as the origins of Killer Frost. This reincarnation of Wells will take some getting used to, but I already like his dynamic with Ralph (baby giraffe) and of course Cisco. (They are always the best.) I’ll continue watching and see if my feelings change, but I do feel that I’m getting invested again, which makes me happy. 

MOVIES

Descendants 3

Should I be embarrassed that I am putting Descendants 3 on this list and I am a lot older than the intended audience? Nope. While this DCOM came out at the beginning of the month, it has replayed on Disney Channel dozens of times already so I feel I have watched it fully or in clips many times. Out of the entire series this movie is one of my favorites. I like the songs and the overall plot. The idea of having one of the hero’s kids become a villain was genius and really said something about people’s innermost character. My main problem with this part of the movie was that I wanted more repercussions for Audrey. In the end she almost dies and they bring her back and everything is good because she apologies. But her intentions seemed real at the start of the movie. Could they vanish that quickly? (Now I know what you’re thinking...this is a kid movie. Of course she needs to learn what she did was wrong. But I think it would be even more interesting if she didn’t or struggled with it. Either way she should have had some sort of punishment. I don’t think they should have welcomed her back so fast.) I really liked meeting new characters from the Isle of the Lost, the new addition of VKs in Auradon and Hades. I wish all the new VKs would have gotten more screen time as well as Hades. From the promos leading up to the film he seemed really important and the actual BIG BAD of the movie. I would have liked to see a little more of that. But I did really like learning he is Mal’s dad. I loved seeing Uma, Harry and Gil working with the Auradon group. Again, this drove the message home about working together now matter what your background. There’s probably a lot more I could talk about but these are really the main moments that stuck out to me/my main concerns. I know I’ll be singing the songs for a very long time.  

Miss Austen Regrets

As a Jane Austen buff, it is probably very surprising to hear that I had not watched Miss Austen Regrets (2008) until last week. I knew about it, but am always cautious when it comes to a film adaptation of the author’s life; especially after Becoming Jane (which yes is a great movie, but not 100% accurate). It took learning that Tom Hiddleston was in the film to make me watch it. (I know, but just look at him. He’s got such a baby face.) :)

But a young and always good looking Tom Hiddleston should not be the only reason to watch this film (although it is a great reason). The movie focuses on Jane’s later years as she completes Emma. She visits her niece Fanny who is deciding who she loves and how to know what love is. In her early twenties, Fanny seeks advice from her aunt as to how to spend the rest of her life. Should she settle? Or wait for the man of her dreams? But what if he’s right in front of her? Her aunt, the author of romances, should have the answer, but in fact she believes she doesn’t. You get a little insight into some of Jane’s past loves and lots of echoes to Persuasion (one of the novels published after Austen’s death). I had just finished reading Persuasion for the second time and watching this film so closely behind it mirrored that tale of maturity, friendship and romance very well. Taken from the remaining letters between Austen and Fanny the movie feels authentic. Of course nothing can be 100% but I think Miss Austen Regrets does a very good job. 

BINGEING

THE WALKING DEAD

And so the summer binge continues on. Gotta say that I feel pretty obsessed with this show now. You know you are watching a lot when you start to have dreams where you are fighting walkers. (And yes, that recently happened to me.) Currently I’m in season 5. Just finished season 4 this week, which I think might be my favorite so far. I really enjoyed their time in the prison and while I thought the episodes with the illness dragged at times, once the Governor returned it really picked up again. (Although I didn’t love the stand-alone episodes focused on him.) Then watching the group be separated and anticipating the reunions between them all was great. Terminius definitely seemed too good to be true and I am happy that (right now at least) it seems to be resolved. Now we are heading to Washington. I like seeing the new characters that I know will be a part of the regulars. It does make me nervous about some of the originals. Losing Hershel was tough. I’m not ready to lose too many more.

Nautiscarader's Wendip Week 2018 3: Combat

Dipper, Mabel, Wendy, Soos and Melody team up to rescue their friends. A brawl is surely brewing. Rated T for some mature innuendos and implications.

I'm gonna come out clean here: this fanfic is two years old. It has originally been written for "Seductive" prompt during Wendip Week 2016, except that year I got heavily depressed and barely finished three prompts. However, when I re-read it a few weeks ago, I discovered it was pretty much finished, and it fitted the "combat" prompt as well, so I decided to reuse it. I do hope you will forgive me that.

Through deceptively calm waters, a medium-sized, white trawler cut through the thick fog that might have otherwise discouraged other sailors from going forward, but it was nothing to the ones aboard this particular vessel. For once, none of the passengers were actual, trained sailors, and more importantly, they were all determined to arrive at their destination as fast as possible, with one clear intention in their minds: to rescue.

Dipper Pines stood by the steering wheel, which was one just from the name. The fog wasn't a problem for the on-board GPS, though a skilled eye was still necessary to watch out for rocks or other debris. This is why Mabel, Wendy, Soos and Melody all stared ahead giving their captain warnings about oncoming danger. Or rather, they would have if any danger lied ahead. As far as anyone was concerned, it was a straightforward, almost boring route. But they all knew that something in these very waters was an obstacle so formidable, that even the combined minds and strength of both Stanley and Stanford Pines couldn't defeat it.

Of course, no one aboard had thoughts that ghastly. Communication with the Stan o' War II was cut off a bit more than a day ago, and it took all five of their closest friends and family less than few hours to gather resources, travel to, rent a boat and leave from the same port Stan and Ford sailed from almost a month earlier. Mabel insisted on taking the wheel - after all, she has spent last week or so preparing their welcome-back party, and awaited their tales more than anyone else, with the same curiosity and enthusiasm as if she was still thirteen.

But after she steered the ship in a manner so fast and reckless it almost sabotaged the entire trip, the feisty eighteen-year-old was delegated to climb to the only mast of their ship and from her non-existent crow's nest look further than anyone on board, whilst her brother took her place.

And sure enough, it was Mabel who spotted a small, rocky island and a wooden boat next to it on the horizon before it appeared on the radar.

The five adventurers gathered all at the bow, staring into the lessening fog, expecting to see their grunkles' ship in ruins. But to their surprise and relief, when their boat reached the shore, it became obvious the ship was not damaged in any observable way.  

Mabel readied her grappling hook, Wendy stayed on the board with her rifle, which she traded temporarily for her usual axe, and watched as the slightly older Pines twin shot her way to board the ship, landed swiftly on her feet, strode to the door of the cabin, and kicked the door to confront any enemies hiding there. But again, there wasn't anyone inside. The electronic devices were still on, recording the same position for the last twenty four hours, and nothing in the room indicated any signs of fight or accident that might have happened.

Mabel gave the other four signal, and they all followed her, about to see what hid in the bowels of the ship. However, that search gave them no more information on what happened to their grunkles than the previous one. Food crates, spare weapons and scientific instruments, all seemed intact.

This time, it was Dipper, who ventured forward along the island's minuscule coast and found an obvious place their grunkles would surely be in: a passage wide enough for more than two people, located between the two pillars that formed the majority of the rocky island, leading to an underground cave.

- Alright, guys. Me and Soos are going in. Don't follow us, it is dangerous in there. - Dipper stated matter-of-factly, giving nod to Soos.

He turned his back when three voices loudly protested.

- Woah, woah, woah, Dipper, what makes you think you can give us orders? - Mabel threw her arms in the air. - Yeah, Dipper, rule one in horror movies: don't split up. - Wendy accompanied her. - Or do you think that just because we're women you can leave us here and do the bravey-brave things yourselves? - Melody added mockingly.

Dipper sighed.

- No, it's nothing like that! - he responded - We don't want anything happen to you... - Oh, sure, and how many times we had to save your sorry arses? - Mabel barked back - We don't have the Y chromosome, "y" as in "Why would you think you're any better than us"? - For the record, I just think it's better if we get eaten than you guys - Soos interjected, which made Melody give the tiniest of gasps at the supposedly romantic gesture of her husband, until Wendy gave her a less-than-subtle nudge in the ribs.

The lumberjill stepped forward to separate the bickering twins.

- Guys, guys, listen - Wendy pushed them aside - Dipper, dude, I know you don't want to risk our lives, but if we want to save Stan and Ford, we need all the firepower we can have. As in, you need us. And we need you two.

Dipper looked deeply into his girlfriend's eyes, then into his sister's, and let out another deep sigh.

- How about this: if we don't return in an hour's time, you will follow. But you will also radio for help before that, understood?

It was time for Wendy, Mabel and Melody to exchange knowing looks, and with grimaces of reluctance still on their faces, they all nodded. Wendy and Melody gave their lesser halves kisses, Wendy fixed the rifles on Dipper's back, and with that, the two slowly walked down the narrow rocky corridor (which proved easy even for Soos). Once the lights from their torches disappeared, the three women quit their act at once.

- So... we wait twenty minutes and then we go in, right? - asked Melody - Right. - Wendy and Mabel responded, readying their weapons without so much as thinking of an answer.

The next third of an hour passed almost instantly. With no contact from the boys, three gals followed their steps, and entered the dark seashore cavern, expecting to be the rescuers of the rescue team. They thought that the walls would get more and more narrow, but the cavern slowly turned into an angled, helical corridor, which after a few dozens of yards became a staircase with occasional straightened lumps of rock and dirt working as steps or landings. The group moved silently, until Mabel pointed her torch at the sandy floor.

Melody was about to scream, but Wendy quickly covered her mouth; the beam of light revealed an old, dusty backpack with the remains of its owner still attached to it. The white bones shone in the light, bringing more questions than answers.

- That's not... is it? - asked Melody with a trembling voice. - Nah, it's too old. - Wendy quickly reassured her - But guys must have seen it. Why didn't they turn back? - Because they're morons?

Melody and Wendy exchanged a concerned look, agreeing with Mabel's decision. They hurried up, following the boys' footsteps, afraid of what could wait for them behind next turn. Their worries came true almost instantly, when Mabel's boot bumped into a metallic, rectangular object, turning it briefly on.

- Look! It's Ford's!

She picked up a tablet which for the last few years served Ford as his new, slightly modernised journal. The screen was cracked, and the battery was almost dead, but his writing was still readable. Wendy and Melody flocked around Mabel, trying to read Ford's notes.

- A "song"? A "trance"? - she read - What is going on? And what's an "iren"? - Dipper!

Before she could turn her head, Wendy rushed forward, screaming for her boyfriend. Melody followed her, leaving Mabel running last in line, trying to read without tripping over rocks.

- "...bird-like creatures, with claws and feathers, known throughout history for... using their voices to lure men"?!

She tossed the tablet into her backpack and run down the rocky corridor, towards the dim green aura coming from its end. Mabel armed her grappling hook and sprinted past her friends, and entered a large cave, ready to confront her opponents.

- Alright, you leave our morons a...lone?

Wendy and Melody arrived a second later, and were equally astonished by what they saw inside. They were greeted by eight pairs of eyes, though only four of them human. The rest belonged to large, scale- and feathers-covered creatures, with beaks and clawed appendages. The brief description from Ford's notes gave the gals a lot of mental images of what the sirens could be doing to Soos, Dipper, Ford and Stan.

"Having fun" wasn't one of them.

- Mabel! Wendy! I thought you'd never arrive!

Dipper waved at the three flabbergasted young women standing by the cave's entrance, examining its decor. They expected sacrificial altars, human skulls used as bowls and cups, or other ghastly elements. Instead, they noticed a huge flat screen TV, emitting the green light they saw before; Soos, together with one of the sirens stared at it, playing a video game, seemingly unaware of the women's arrival. Another siren was sitting with Dipper amongst a huge pile of multicoloured comic books and trading cards. In the back, they noticed a jukebox, snooker table and several comfy chairs, occupied by the two oldest missing adventurers, as well as two more sirens.

- Hello, ladies! - Stan shouted, sipping from what looked like a glass of whiskey. - Didn't expect you here! Care to join us? - Mabel! Wendy! Melody! - Ford looked from up the old, dusty tome he's been reading, putting it on the table. - What brings you here?

The three women once again looked at each other, trying to form a cohesive answer, which given the bizarre circumstances wasn't exactly easy.

- Uhm... To... Rescue you? - Melody begun sheepishly. - Yeah, that's why Dipper and Soos went here. - Mabel pointed to the boys in question. - And we also went to rescue them as well, since, well, they are who they are. - Rescue? - Dipper stood up - Can't you see, we're not in any danger. Come on, tell them, Isobel!

He gave his siren partner a quick nod to her feathered arm, and dragged her from her seat to face Wendy. The distinctively red-beaked creature gave what otherwise might be called a polite smile, though it hasn't improved Wendy's mood at all, and the fact that Dipper was already on first name terms with her definitely hasn't made her lower her rifle.    

The other three sirens followed her and flocked to the first one, until she spread her wings and bowed to the newcomers.

- Greetings, brave ladies! Welcome to our humble abodes. - she spoke in a sing-song voice. - My name is Isobel, and these are Mathilda, Ettiene and Fallaise. You have nothing to fear from us. - Oh, yeah? - Mabel retorted - Then why did you lure them all here? - Oh, we didn't lure them! - the siren called Isobel replied - These two gentlemen simply lost their way in the mist, and had to rest. And what would you you prefer: sleep in the boat, or in a nice cave by the fire with all the commodities? - And what about Dipper and Soos? - Wendy joined Mabel, doing another step forward, towards the blue- and yellow- beaked sirens. - The younger ones were weary as well. They are not as skilled sailors as their old... ehm, more experienced friends. - she corrected herself - And what else to offer them than some modern ways of entertainment?

A loud cheer reached the group, causing the sirens and the humans to look at Soos, waving his arms in the air.

- Yes! I got the first place! - he turned to Melody - Did you see this, honey?

Still staring at him, sirens didn't notice Mabel pushing their feathered bodies aside to walk through the barrier they created to reach her brother.

- Dipper, you can't be serious! They are sirens! - she shouted into his ear - They always lure people in. Not just people, men! - Oh, come on, just because they, unlike you, understand our hobbies doesn't mean they are automatically bad!

This was the last straw for Mabel. Her eye twitched, but she remained composed, and simply walked around the room, examining various bits of the odd décor. She circled the cave twice, returning to the same place she started from, with a sly grin on her face.

- These sirens are evil, exhibit A! - she shouted, grabbing the controller that used to belong to the blue siren - This one might looked like a skilled gamer, but behold! Her controller wasn't even connected to the console!

The siren shot her a cold stare, while Soos was stilled absorbed by his avatar on screen, waving a shining trophy with a congratulatory message written in broken English.  

- And these - she took the cards Dipper was clutching in his hands - They might look like the originals, with the protective cases and stuff... but they are mere reprints of the originals!

She ripped the card from the foil, exposing the modern back tucked behind the old-looking one.  

- And I would be very surprised if these bottles really contained a two-hundred-year old whiskey... - she said taking a healthy sip from the bottle.

The next moment taste and fumes of the alcohol burned through her throat, causing her to spit the entire gulp.

- Okay, maybe that was real.

As if on cue, the four sirens hissed, and four hypnotised men grabbed and shook their heads, as if they just woke up from a hangover-induced sleep.

- Mabel, what is going o- The Sirens!

Dipper screamed and ran towards the rest of the group, secured from the front by the three women. His grunkles swiftly grabbed two empty bottles of whiskey, expanding the armory brought by Wendy and Mabel. Unable to find anything for of her own, Meody resorted to Wendy's axe she held rather clumsily in her hands, never having to use one. Four feminine creatures bristled their hair- and scaled-covered heads and circled the adventurers, trapping them in a corner.

- Kids! We've been kidnapped! Uhm, elder-napped. Napped! - Grunkle Stan shouted - They lured us in with the promise of fair retirement system. I should have known that such a thing doesn't exist! - And then they've kidnapped us too! - Dipper added. - Yeah, no kidding. - snarled Wendy, keeping her eyes on the four creatures. - Uh, Wendy aren't you glad that we're alive?

A very short and sharp turn of her head gave Dipper an answer in a form of cold and angry "I-told-you-so" look, silencing him for good. Wendy readied her double-barrelled rifle when a red siren opened her beak-like mouth.

- Give us our men back - she hissed, stretching her wings. - Never in our lives, you feather-brains. - two bullets fell into the chamber with a metallic "click" - You wanted to steal my boyfriend! - My brother! - And my hubby! - Melody added, steeping in front of Soos, who took the entire situation with surprising calm, perhaps just because he was still going to use the controller as his weapon. - Ladies, I do hope you remember us. - Grunkle Stan peeked his head through the front row, only to tuck it back again when the red Siren opened her jaws again. - Curses! - she hissed - All we wanted were some male friends, who would help us, poor girls be like true nerds! Do you know how difficult it is to be mainstream if you're a woman in those times?

Mabel stepped to the despondent-looking siren, who took her fake glasses and smashed them with her claws.  

- Really? - Mabel scratched her head - Do you mean it? You just wanted to belong? - Mabel, I wouldn't trust them! - her brother shouted from the corner. - Yeah, says the one who trusted them. - Wendy snickered. - So... you didn't want to hurt them? - Mabel asked once again, lowering her grappling hook slightly. - Of course! - sang another one - How else would we then use them and feed to our future babies?

Silence fell in the cavern, as all eyes, human or not were now pointed at the green Siren.

- I shouldn't have said that, should I? - There is a reason we don't send you on scouting missions, Mathilda. Attack! - screeched the red-beaked one, and at once the four sirens launched themselves at the humans.

Many things happened at the same time.

First, a loud "Duck, Mabel!" boomed through the cavern, followed by absolutely deafening sound of Wendy firing her rifle. She missed, only narrowly singing the feathers on one of the Siren's head. Her actions, however, were more than precise. The echo of her shot made the rest cover their ears and confuse her opponents for long enough to start their escape.

At least two of the monsters around them begun shrieking, which Wendy assumed was the sound that took control of her friends' minds. Wendy grabbed her boyfriend by the collar of his shirt and rushed to the exit, slamming the closest siren in the beak, ending her song. She turned around to see if Dipper kept his hands over ears, and was quite happy to see his beaming smile, meaning that he understood her plan.

She couldn't say the same about Soos, who had to have his ears covered by Melody, resulting in her using her feet and elbow to parry sirens' attacks, which was, nonetheless, surprisingly effective, even if she could use the actual weapon in her hand.

Using her grappling hook, Mabel found her way to grunkle Stan's back, piggy-backing him to the exit. The same person that just a few minutes ago complained about being weak and left alone, dashed trough the wings and claws of the enemies as if his age did not matter at all.

Ford was the only one who kept his own hearing under control, at least on the other side of his metal plate. With one hand to operate, he used his slightly faulty laser pistol to defend their position, but with their wings, the Sirens were able to prevent the adventurers from reaching their destination. Their initial advantage diminished greatly when the group were separated; Dipper, Wendy, Melody and Soos made it to the tunnel entrance, leaving the rest still fighting.

- We have to keep them occupied! - Ford shouted, wrestling with one of the sirens, steadily advancing to the exit. - Grunkle Ford, do you have any tools with you? - Mabel asked, as she swung above the heads of the sirens, firing from her grappling hook one by one to keep herself mid-air. - I only have this, but what why how would that help? - he reached into his pocket and threw his Swiss omni-knife towards Mabel, when the trajectory of her flight coincided with his position.

One look on Mabel's face told Ford that his great-niece not only had a plan, but also told them what to do.

- Stan, we need to buy Mabel some time! - he shouted, hoping his brother would understand at least part of his words amongst the shrieks.

He did, and the very next moment Stan let go of his ears, ripped his shirt in half and with a roar he rushed towards the sirens. Meanwhile, working under the pressure of time, Mabel fidgeted with the knife's satellite setting, and jammed it into the video cable of the television screen.

- Come on, you ugly chickens! I sacrificed myself to worse monsters than you!

He was about to feel the pain of the claws on his chest, and the soothing, hypnotising melody of their voice in his head, but then, amongst their uproar, a new, much louder voice filled the cavern, gathering the sirens' attention. They all turned, and gathered around the flickering, booming TV.

The paused racing game was gone, and instead a much more rapid and violent one was being played, bringing the attention of not just the sirens, but humans as well, who at least temporarily ceased fighting with them.

- You know, I'm starting to feel ignored... - Stan grumbled. - And it was a pretty decent shirt! - What is the meaning of this? Who- who is playing that? - screamed one of the sirens, pointing to the screen.

A young, blonde face appeared in the upper corner of the screen.

- "It's me, WatchMeCry and this is another EXTREME(TM) and AWESOME(C) episode of my Heroes of Duty letsplay!" - the young man waved his hands towards the camera.

Somewhere above the crowd, Wendy noticed Mabel, swinging on the rope from her grappling hook, with a elongated device in her hand.

- Quick! While they're busy! - she gave command to Stan and Ford.

Allured by the screaming and whining of the streamer, the sirens flocked to the screen, completely oblivious of the fact that his exaggerated style of playing, cursing and reacting to the game were clearly staged. Mabel swiftly fell to the ground, leading her grunkles to the rest of the group, equally baffled by the young man's pitiful gameplay.

- Do people really watch it...? - Wendy raised her brow in disbelief. - I don't really play games, and even I know he sucks. - added Melody - That's the whole point!- explained Mabel, silently pushing the group out of the cavern - He has to be so horrible, so he can play more, do crappy commentaries and tell unfunny jokes!

As if on command, the sirens roared into laughter, following the blonde gamer's series of insults about his virtual opponent's mother.

- Brilliant, Mabel! That will keep'em interested for good. - Wendy cheered. - No it won't! - interjected Ford, interrupting Wendy's speech, and taking his futuristic device from his great-niece - Mabel, great work, but we have to make sure these monsters won't lure any other bystanders, like they fooled us! I should've known they wouldn't have a complete proof of Ziemann's hype-othesis... - he scratched his head in embarrassment. - First of all, grunkle Ford, it's on autoplay, they still have more than seven hundreds hours of his videos, and he keeps pumping them out daily. - Mabel continued - Secondly, once they find that this guy sells his face on t-shirts, and allows donations just to show a silly message on screen, they won't need anything else. Just look at them!

The fours sirens gathered around the TV screen, passing their snacks around, commenting about the gamer's hair, his unmistakable manner of screaming and his almost childish approach to losing, and the way he trashed his controller around the room. The once mighty monsters, now completely mesmerised by their own weapon left only long shadows on the cavern's walls.  

- But... their lives may put others at risk! - continued Ford, unabashed by that sight - Lives? Grunkle Ford, what lives? - Mabel spread her arms - Let's face it, these sirens ain't gonna sire anything for a long time.

The adventurers looked at each other, exchanging the nods, agreeing with Mabel's plan.

- But just to be sure, let's block the exit with a hu-uge rock. - Mabel winked.

The small port tavern in the town of Orstan had very few customers this time of year, so the late night arrival of party of seven, each demanding food and drink initially astonished the owner. But when the oldest two started spinning the tales of their sea adventures, the barman himself joined their table and listened to the wild and colourful stories.

Not all people around the table listened as eagerly as the barman or Mabel, who kept asking Ford to re-tell the same fight with double-headed shark again and again. Dipper Pines sipped the soda from his beer mug, staring into the foam forming on top of it, and only when Wendy gave him a quick nudge he realised she's not been listening to Ford and Stan as well.

- What's wrong Dipper? - I feel horrible, Wendy. - he groaned under his breath - How could I fell for the sirens trap? I've read about them! I knew their weapon! - Dipper, don't be so hard on yourself. - she put a hand on his shoulder - You guys have been hypnotised, you couldn't do anything... - Yeah, but that easily? - Dipper sighed again. - I told you that you mean a world to me, and no other girl would do the same to me... And Soos promised that to Melody in church. And we were both bamboozled by those four.

Wendy snickered, spilling ale from her mug.

- Okay, first of all, no one uses that word anymore. And secondly, look at Melody.

She pointed to the opposite side of the table, where the other shop assistant at the Mystery Shack curled in Soos' arms ready to fall asleep if not for Stan and Ford's story.

- Does this looks like a couple that is about to break up because of this? - No... - Dipper answered, and flinched, when he felt Wendy's arms closing around his stomach. - Yeah, and neither will we. - she gave his ear a gentle kiss. - So... you're not angry at me? - Dipper, you gawked at that beaked bitch as if she was the next wonder of the world, and she would have babies with you, of course I'm angry. - she kissed him again - But that doesn't mean I can't forgive you. After all, you're just a man. - Hey, what was that supposed to mean? - Dipper turned his head around and met Wendy's face beaming with a smile. - Why don't you show me?

Her low, alluring voice caused Dipper to spill his drink again, but this time, he grabbed Wendy's mug, gulped down a bit of heavy alcohol, and let his girlfriend drag him to their room.

Half an hour later delightful stories told by Ford and Stan turned into singing contest of loud and obnoxious shanties that drove Mabel mad. And with both Soos and Melody as well as Dipper and Wendy gone to their respective beds, she gulped down another mug of beer, hoping it would make her asleep here and not have to be sandwiched between their noisy rooms.

- I wish Paz was here...

The whole premise for the story was, of course, the "fake gamer girl" cliche, and often associated with it mistakes like disconnected controller/turned off console/lack of cartridge often shown on some poor photoshops that were supposed to market that demographic.

Isobel, Ettiene and Fallaise are names of three Hagravens from The Elder Scroll games; they appear in Bloodmoon, Morrowind's DLC and later in Dragonborn, Skyrim's DLC.

"WatchMeCry" is, for those who have been living under a rock - just like those Sirens - a parody of "colourful", shall we say, streamers like PewDiePie.

Ziemann's "hype-otheosis" is a joke on famous, (currently) unproven Riemann's hypothesis.

Orstan is a parody of a port town in Oregon called Orford.

DAY 12: MINA!

note: as i’m sure u’ve noticed, i took two days to write this bc i was almost thinking of not but mxnark forced me to go off at 10:30pm... so i did <3 

It was perhaps the most nerve-wracking morning for all the HEARTZ girls in the practice room, trainees and confirmed members. Not many of the girls would assume that the past members would be at all excited to hear this announcement, but it made sense to Mina, She feels as if the eleven of them had been wanting to know who their official last member would be. It’s not new that these trainees have managed to befriend / are already friends with the confirmed girls. But it also came to the fact that the final girl, whoever it may be, would complete their team. To Mina, it meant that there was one more girl that would complete her family.

The more she thinks about it, the more it hits her that any of the eleven could’ve been twelfth. Of course, they were all far more talented and had more experience than Mina did. But the fact that she even took part in the project less than a month since she got signed blew her mind. Here she is now, standing as a girl who has had her future decided for her since the last month with other girls who were going to find out what their future will be with the very last announcement.

Boyeon and Seungkwan come in and it seems more tense to be in the same room with them at this moment. “Good morning,” Seungkwan speaks to all the people in the practice room. “I am sure you are all aware of this, but this will be the final time we come here to tell you who the next girl of the month is. It has been exactly twelve months since this project has begun and I am sure all of the past confirmed girls as well as the trainees are anxious to hear the results.”

“Last month was the final HEARTZ evaluation,” Boyeon says next. “We and the other coaches analyzed your performances and decided, in unison, who will the twelfth and final face to show the word under the name of HEARTZ.” Final. It was such a powerful word to hear come from the judges, but Mina tries her best to remain neutral when listening to the rest of the announcements.

She wants to look at the other girls and see how they were feeling. Jiyeon, Juyeon, Eunji, and Sua have been under Sphere for a much longer time than the rest of the girls have, so she wouldn’t be surprised if they were anxious to finally see the key to their entire group debuting together. Yuzu, Seungah, Luda, and Eunbi, while not originally part of Sphere, must have also been anxious to see who the final girl would be as a result of them both being trainees under the HEARTZ project for so long. And though she, Heejin, and Chungha (who has a journey of her own) didn’t exactly apply to both of those categories, she could confidently say that they had their own reasons as to being excited on who the final member would be.

“Before we say the name of the final member of HEARTZ, we would like to thank everyone for taking part in this project,” Seungkwan announces, making everyone in the practice room clap. “Coming to this decision was a difficult one, so I would like to thank all the trainees who have taken part of this project and have been with us to the very end. I would also like to thank the other HEARTZ girls for taking part in this project, too. Without you girls, we would not be able to make this project group possible.”

“Now, with the announcement you’ve all been waiting for,” Boyeon says with a smile on her face, making everyone else in the room chuckle along with her. “The final girl of the month is… HEO YOORIM! Congratulations!”

Mina automatically recognizes the name and she gasps before looking over at the other girl with a big smile on her face. She makes her claps big and obvious, only calming it down when Sua gives her a look and some of the other girls giggle at her after that. But, she still claps with pride, overjoyed at the fact that she gets to debut with someone she was happy to get to know from the beginning to end.

“May the confirmed members of HEARTZ please come forward?” Boyeon requests, making all twelve of them come to the front with Seungkwan and Boyeon. They make sure to stand in order from who the first girl was to the end.

“With all twelve members, the project has officially come to an end and HEARTZ is finally complete,” Seungkwan continues his announcement. “The last four members will become part of a unit called HEARTZ yyxy and debut on May, following the official debut of Yoorim. The group as a whole will debut on July.”

The both of them bow to everyone in the room. “Thank you so much for taking part in the HEARTZ project until the end,” Boyeon says before she motions to the girls once again. “Let’s have one more round of applause for the official lineup of HEARTZ!”

Mina feels as if her heart is about to flutter from the feeling of joy. She really couldn’t believe it! After seven months of being under this project, eight months of being signed under Sphere, she couldn’t believe that her journey of being an “unconfirmed trainee” would finally end with her and Yoorim debuting togetherlike they had hoped for. As soon as the announcements are over and the other trainees leave, Mina runs over to Yoorim and gives her a giant hug.

“We did it, Yoo!” she squeals out of joy. “We’re gonna debut together! We became Sphere trainees together and now we’re going to be HEARTZ girls together!”

Yoorim gives her a hug back and it’s just as tight. “I can’t believe it, Mina!” she says with a genuine smile on her face. “I can’t believe we actually did it!”

After she says that, Mina feels herself tearing up and she cries on the other’s shoulder. And not too long after that, Yoorim follows suit.

The last few days were realy just trying to help Yoorim get situated as a confirmed HEARTZ member. She helped the other move into the dorm, Yuzu also being plenty helpful by helping her unpack the rest of her things as her official roommate now. And on the night of her moving in, the twelve of them share a big dinner to celebrate the announcement of their final lineup together. Mina (as well as Minhee) then help by recording lines for her B-Side on her single album “Rosy”. And, if Mina had to be honest, she could confidently say that she liked how she sounds in “Rosy” more than how she sounds in both “One and Only” and “See Saw”. She just sounded more cooler and that’s what Mina always aspired for herself. So getting to hear that on a track that isn’t her own is a little bit of a bummer, but she was glad that Yoorim could take pride in it.

Today, she was at her own photoshoot for her own photobook! It was definitely more exciting than she had thought it would be. Being a KPOP fan herself, she had always looked at the photobooks of her favorite idols as well as collect their photocards for her collection or to keep one on her phonecase. Obviously, she doesn’t have one on her phonecase anymore (because she wouldn’t want to walk around the Sphere building with a Haru photocard proudly on her phone), but she still does her best to collect them. And now, someone would collect hers!

However, one thing she wasn’t aware of with this photoshoot was how she would have to dye her hair black. When talking about it with her managers, they had explained that her concept was Heejin and Eunji “converting her” to join them. As a result, her hair would transform to black then red as a result. The fact that she had to take pictures of her red hair first, then dye it to black for the rest of the photos and first few days of recording the video, only to have it return to red? When she told Chungha about it, she was glad to know that she wasn’t the only member who found it ridiculous.

But it’s not like she can do anything about it. When she looks into the mirror with her black hair, she sighs and takes the rest of her photos with no issue. Whenever she felt awkward in some of her photos, she would automatically hear words of encouragement from Heejin and Chungha. “You’re doing great, Mina!” they’d say. “So cute! Cutest girl!”

Do they flatter her? Absolutely. But she wasn’t going to admit that. She’s shy.

A month has passed since Valentines Day and Mina goes on a FaceTime call with Soobin instead of saving it for a text conversation. After not being able to see him as often as she would want to, she feels as if this was appropriate for the both of them.

“You look really cute with your black hair, babe!” he says with a smile on his face after she reveals it after complaining about it for a bit.

“I like the orange better though,” she whines, making the other laugh at her from the screen. “If you see me dye my hair back to orange in a few days, don’t be surprised, okay? Just shows how unsatisfied I am with it.”

What she says is a bit of a lie obviously. She couldn’t exactly tell her boyfriend that her manager told her she’d only be keeping this color for a few days because that’s what her “concept” is. It hurts her to not be able to tell him everything about her debut journey, even if she understood why she couldn’t yet. She wouldn’t be surprised if he was frustrated at all by her not being around as much because of it all. But thankfully, he didn’t seem to show it.

“Well, I think you’ll look great no matter what color you go for, babe!” he says with a big smile on her face.

“I’m really sorry I can’t come to see you for White Day,” she says with a frown. “I honestly feel like the company is being more stricter with me now, soo I don’t really want to get on their bad side. Plus, I moved in with some of the trainees in an apartment and I haven’t really told them about us yet. But you know that if I could, I would.”

“Babe, it’s okay! I understand,” he responds with a soft tone and she falls her heart melt just from seeing his smile. “I knew that you were going to be a lot more busier ever since you got signed and that’s fine.”

“But I didn’t get to see you graduate! And you can’t give me chocolate this year,” she says with a pout.

“It’s okay, babe! Really! Please don’t worry too much about it,” he continues to reassure her. “I mean, if you want, I can try to make it easier for you by becoming famous enough to get signed by a company! And then we can see more of each other from there!”

Mina grins at the statement. “Honestly, that sounds possible with how the world is today,” she says with a little laugh. “Not to mention, agents would be crazy not to cast such a handsome, funny, and cool guy like you.”

“Well, Sphere’s lucky to have such a pretty, talented, and adorable girl like you as a trainee,” he flirts back. It makes Mina giggle and she wants to keep going at it until she hears her door open.

“Mina! Dinner’s ready,” Jiyeon calls for her.

Mina looks up at her and nods before looking back down at her phone again to say goodbye to her boyfriend. “I’ll talk to you later! Gotta eat right now.”

He gives a pout. “Alright,” he says cutely, making Mina smile naturally. “I’ll talk to you later!”

“Bye!” she says with a wave before she ends the call. As she puts her phone back on her bedside to charge, she looks up at Jiyeon with a look on her face. A look as if to suggest something. “What?”

“Was that a boy?” she asks, raising her eyebrow.

Mina hesitates on giving her a response. “…Yes? Why?”

“Oh nothing~” the other giggles. “Just wondering as all. How long have you been talking to him?”

When she finally connects the dots on what the other is hinting at, Mina’s eyes widen. “Unnie, please don’t tell anyone!”

“I won’t! Relax!” she responds with a laugh. “I can assure you that all of us here are in a secret relationship of our own. Though, it is a little shocking to know that our baby is in a relationship!”

“Ugh, Jiyeon-unnie, you sound like my dad!” she groans before she makes her way to the dining room, ignoring how her ears are red from embarrassment.

With it being the final day of her video recording, a lot of pressure was put onto her.

The last few days have been a fun, yet tiring experience. However, the overall experience was exciting and she had tried her best to remain enthusiastic for it all. The fact that her other members were there to give her support definitely helped her out more as they kept giving her encouraging words throughout the entire process.

The only last thing to film was her dancing with her orange hair. With a pretty frilly dress, heels, and marble floor, it was definitely a setting that Mina wasn’t used to dancing with. But she continued to get through it all until the song finally reaches its climax and she hears the director speak through the speakers.

“We have finally finished the filming of ‘One and Only’!” they announce proudly. “Good job, everyone! Dinner will be served in the break room!”

With that announcement, Mina carefully walks off the marble platform to talk the other members that were running towards her. With a big smile on her face, she looks at them proudly. “I did it!” she says excitedly. “I recorded my first music video! Did I look too awkward at all?”

“You did perfect!” Chungha cheers in response before pulling her into a hug. “Ooh! I’m so proud of you! My baby recorded her first music video!”

"I can’t wait for the fans to see it!” Juyeon cheers. “It’s definitely a wild experience, isn’t it?”

Mina nods in agreement. “I was so nervous. I was afraid that it might not come out well.”

“I’m sure the video will turn out fine! You worry too much,” Yuzu says to reassure her before patting her back.

“Thanks, everyone,” she says with a big smile, feeling blessed to know that she had this much support from the girls today. If this was how she was treated for this special event in her life, she couldn’t wait for the next seven years. “Now.. uh… since I’m still kind of anxious about everything, can we go to the break room and eat? I always feel myself feeling better when I eat good food.”

The girls laugh at her statement before they nod in agreement and go the break room, her following suit as she thinks back on her life up until this point. If someone were to tell Mina of last year, who had just graduated from high school, that she would be in this situation right now, she probably wouldn’t believe them. She’d probably be convinced that she’d have to live with her mother and father while being in a program that ultimately made her feel miserable. She wouldn’t believe that she’d be taken in by a new family full of kind, caring girls who all shared the same common goal and passion to perform. She didn’t think she could be able to perform with someone as admirable as Chungha, Heejin, Sua, Seungah, Luda, and Eunji. In fact, the fact that she feels genuinely loved by girls who she once felt intimidated by felt like the ending she didn’t think she deserved, but received anyways.

A smile grows on her lips when she thinks about how far she’s come, as well as the results that had come as result. Life always worked in mysterious ways, but at least she knows that God has her back.

"I just got to go in for one second." Michael had said, resulting in a whine from Elouise as she took her hand from his and planted them on her hips.

"Michael, we both took the day off for a reason..." "I know, I know but listen I'll be one second, you stay here." "Yeah, I'll stay here only because if I go in Tommy'll throw paperwork at me." 

She called, crossing her arms as he slipped into the office. It seemed like it had been a slow day. Whenever him and Elouise weren't in the office it was as if no one else was around to do any work. He had unlocked his office, rumbling in the desk to get one piece of paper from the books that John needed to sign. Walking back out and briefly looking for his cousin, who was nowhere to be found, his hand hovered above the knob to Tommy's office, hearing someone inside and figuring he could drop the paper off there. He had knocked lightly and there was what he believed to be a response so he paused and opened the door, revealing John and a young girl sprawled on Tommy's desk with her clothes in a haphazard pile on the ground and John's hands on her body. "Oh, uh sorry John." He had snickered, closing the door.

He had swiftly walked back towards the entrance, stepping over the threshold into Elouise's sight when he heard the thudding of footsteps behind him. He turned to see a flustered John, in the midst of buttoning up his shirt, while running towards him. “Michael” he shouted, out of breath from desperately trying to catch up with him. Michael had been unphased by the situation, staring at John as though this was something he had half expected, a smirk still playing on his lips. “Don’t tell anyone” John grabbed onto Michael’s sleeve, pulling him away from the half open door. He leant to the side slightly to see Elouise stood in the street, frowning at him with a very confused look on her face. His manic expression softened slightly as he nodded at her, half managing a smile before he had disappeared back around the door to look at Michael again. “Please.”

"Why? Afraid your wife'll find out and then when she does she'll kill you?" Michael had said, his words sounding harsher than expected in the shadows. John gave him a threatening yet pleading look as cars passed by and the knowledge of Elouise waiting on the other side ate at him.

"Fine." Michael had finally said, just wanting to get out of the office and the awkward situation. "I won't tell anyone."

He put his hands in his pockets and had began walking back towards Elouise, smiling at her as she wrapped her arms with his and they walked in the afternoon sun, unaware of the strife John and this girl would later cause them all.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” “Oh shut up Pol, I’ve said, nothing” John had got defensive once she began to question him. He knew his odd behaviour was noticeable and Polly was definitely suspicious as she watched him fidgeting in his seat and check his pocket watch every two minutes. But he couldn’t have left, not yet. He was waiting for the right moment. “Well you’re face is saying different, you better not have brought any shit to my doorstep at this hour” “POL PLEASE” he had spat as he began to get frustrated with her. He decided then was a good enough time as any, jumping from his seat and rushing straight to the door, desperate to sort the situation but also get away from Pol’s questioning. He had began a brisk walk to the office, trying to avoid the prying eyes of the few people left roaming the street. It had been just after 12; the timing cruciale. He had known Michael would still be sat in his office working away whilst everyone else was drinking at the Garrison; the right moment. And he had been right, barging through the door marked with his name to see the man himself sat here, leant over his paperwork with a pen in hand and eyes glued to the work on his desk.

"Babe, I told you I'd be home soo-" Michael had started without looking up from the unfinished paperwork. But when he did he was shocked to see John in the doorway, panting somewhat heavily. His face was odd,the worry in his eyes a rare look on him. Michael had studied his cousin a little longer, placing the pen down and lightly clearing his throat. "John, what're you doing here? I thought you left hours ago."

John ignored his question, looking around wearily, trying to see through the imprinted glass to make out the silhouette of anyone else present. He grabbed the chair opposite Michael, pulling it out and landing on it in a heap, running his clammy hands over his face. Michael lent forward across the desk as though to signal he was ready to hear what was going on. “I’m fucked.” John slurred, his face had been covered by his hands so Michael couldn’t see his expression. There was a long silence, Michael not understanding the situation and waiting patiently for John to say more. “We’re fucked.” It was those two words that had caught Michael’s attention, desperate to know what the fuck was going on now more than ever.

Before saying anything else he reached in the bottom draw of his desk talking out a fresh bottle of whiskey. He poured one for himself as an attempt to keep him calm when he heard what John had to say and reluctantly handed a glass to John too. He had thanked him quietly, throwing it back fast. "What do you mean "we're" fucked? Like the company's fucked or... me and you are fucked..." John's intense stare at these words confirmed Michael's thoughts. "What the fuck did you do?" He asked flatly, trying to keep his emotions at bay; trying not to get too worked up before he knew the real extent of the situation.

“It was an accident.” John’s words were mumbled and rushed, his head hung like a shameful child. His words were coming out too quiet and hurried for Michael to hear properly, causing him to lash out at John, his anger rising. It was this that had caused John to shout the words clear as day. “I got her fucking pregnant. The girl I was sneaking about with, fucking pregnant. Then she told her fucking father, I haven’t a clue why and when I’ve gone to see her today he’s come out of nowhere and fucking collared me, saying I’m dead and I panicked and said it was you alright.” He was standing then, his flustered state had him squirming about and jumping up in a rage, his eyes wildly staring at Michael. “I’ve fucking said it’s your kid and now we’re fucked.” He then broke off the intense eye contact to rummage in his jacket pocket, dodging his cigarettes to pull of a creased yet bulky envelope, throwing it onto the table in front of Michael and falling back into his chair, retreating to his original position with his head hidden in his hands. He had then lifted one hand, gesturing towards the envelope. “So actually, we’re all fucked.”

Michael furiously fumbled with the envelope to reveal bullets with everyone's name carved on them. "I can't believe you." Michael had groaned, lighting a cigarette and smoking it quickly. "This is your mess, why'd you bring me into this?” He shouted, pointing at John angrily as the cigarette sat firmly between his fingers. “Why would you bring all of us into this?" He asked, running his hand over his face, trying to think about everything logically but that... there was nothing logical about it. John cheating on his beautiful, loving wife with a pretty young thing for fun, being stupid enough to get her pregnant, telling the protective, angered father it was Michael’s... nothing made sense. There were many things he had wanted to say next to John, who now sat with a blank stare and a slightly shaking hand, for never had he seen his own name on a bullet, but all he had managed was one simple sentence.

“I'm fucking dead."

He then held tightly onto the single bullet with his name scrawled into it, imagining it's steely material going through him. And if the bullet didn't kill him he had a feeling Elouise would.

Now, in the early morning sunlight, the five of them trailed out of the offices one by one, walking down the street towards the line of cars. Elouise being sure to glare at John the entire time, she was every bit ready to kill him.

“What?” He pushed, looking at her.

“This is all your bloody fault.”

“I said I’m sorry, alright!”

“Well sorry isn’t good enough John!” She said angrily, needing Michael to hold her back before she lunged at his cousin.

“C’mon El,” Michael called, but she moved just out of his grasp.

“You’re not fucking forgiven either.” She spat, staring at him. Whether he cheated or not, he had still lied to her.

“Save it for when we get there Lou, yeah?” Tommy said, throwing his cigarette to the floor. The momentary bickering was broken off by Arthur's voice roaring down the street.

“LETS FUCKING HAVE IT BOYS.”

Elouise turned then to see Arthur leading the rest of the peaky men down Watery Lane, who cheered behind him, swinging his rifle in one hand above his head. She scoffed, shaking her head in disbelief. She should have known the whole cavalry would be out. Of course, she had only just found out about the truth all together but all this had been arranged in the meantime.

Once Arthur and the men had marched towards them he stopped in front of Tommy, giving him a salute like a true soldier ready for battle. Elouise looked towards the sky taking a deep breath as she couldn't bare to try begin to understand Arthur's enthusiasm towards this.

Tommy stood alone, turning to look at his trustworthy army in front of him. He took a deep breath, looking over their faces displaying mixed expressions; rage, anger, worry. “We stick to the plan, alright? Let’s go.”

Everyone split up then, Michael holding the car door open for Elouise as she got in. Her eyes lingered on the two guns sat on the seat between them as Michael pulled himself into the driver's seat. Her hand reached for one reluctantly, the metal cool to the touch. She was unaware of his eyes on her as she held it, trying to get used to the feel of it in her hands.

“I don’t think I can do this.” She squeaked, studying the gun and remembering what she had done with one the other day.

“You’ll be fine; everything’s going to be fine El.” Michael reassured her, reaching out and causing her to look at him when he placed his thumb and forefinger under her chin. It was another moment before she gave in, tearing her eyes away from the gun in her hands and looking at him. She shook her head lightly.

“Usually Tommy’s plans are fool proof, but I don’t like this one. Her father wants you dead, he wants you all dead, and we’re all just gonna walk into his house and try to offer him some sweet deal?” The thoughts swirling in her mind were enough to cause her to forget the anger she felt towards John and everyone else who had deceived her, and instead worry for their lives.

“El, don’t worry. No one’s going to get hurt today, I promise.”

She managed a chuckle. “How do I know you’re not lying...again.” She dug, watching his face fall. He let out an exasperated sigh, putting his hands on the wheel.

“How long is this gonna fucking last?”

“As long as I feel like it. You were really willing to let me believe you cheated to cover for John? Why?”

“I...he...I don’t know.” He finally admitted, hanging his head.

“They’re your family Michael, you don’t have to do this kind of stuff anymore to gain their approval.”

He looked at her then, watched her force a smile, just to reassure him. Oh, how he missed that angelic smile on her rose tinted lips. He couldn't help himself then pulling her towards him, his finger still on her chin.

“Michael, don’t…” she whispered with annoyance, his lips dangerously close to hers. His hot breath fanned and danced across her lips as he kept his eyes on them.

“I can’t help it.” He said, as he pressed his lips to hers. She was hesitant at first but then moved with him, kissing back. She was shocked that she had forgotten the feeling, the way warmth spread through her body and a buzzing sensation coursed through her veins. That’s why she found herself leaning into him then. She was determined to never forget the feeling of his soft lips on hers, or the way they tasted of expensive whisky and stale cigarettes. She hoped to hold onto that feeling forever. She kissed him long and hard enough to let him know she still loved him, no matter what happened, just in case. There was a chance their first kiss in a while, since all this had happened, could be their last.

She pulled away when it was too much, Michael looking at her to say something while she kept her eyes closed. She finally looked at him, a smirk on his face she could almost match. “I’m still mad at you.”

“Of course you are.” He laughed lightly, his mind still racing after the kiss but his warm expression disappeared as they both sat in silence for a few moments, remembering what they were about to do. About to start the engine he turned to her, looking at her lovingly, yet his eyes were stern and serious.

“I won’t let anything bad happen to you.”

She took a deep breath and let it out slowly in an attempt to calm her nerves while she stared out of the window straight ahead. She wanted to keep up her now returning cold expression, determined for him to know how wrong his lies had been and a simple kiss wouldn’t fix that. But she knew as much as anyone that this was a moment of reflection and unity, keeping your love ones close due to the imminent possibility of a blood bath. She looked up at him hesitantly.

“Or you.”

The car journey was shorter than Elouise had expected, yet long enough for her to have begun to relax slightly which she regretted, her mind had wandered, forgetting what was about to take place. Pulling up to the docks her stomach churned, her mouth went dry when the hum of engines coming from their trail of cars went dead. She glanced around, trying to figure out her unfamiliar surrounding before slowly opening her car door, mimicking Tommy’s actions from the car in front. She slipped out apprehensively, Michael slamming the car door shut behind him and walking round the back of the car to meet her.

“You positive this is her father’s place John?” Tommy questioned, a final check to ensure they were definitely in the right place and not about to bombard an innocent workingman's family home.

“Yeah I'm fucking sure” John snapped back, chewing his toothpick and kicking his foot across the gravel, concentrating more on his feet than the situation at hand. Everyone instantly turned to glare at him, wondering how he had the nerve after he got them in this mess. Once he lifted his head and met the mass of eyes focused on him his demeanor changed, he stood up straight and took a firmer grip on his gun. He looked towards the house.

“Yeah, I'm sure.” He placed one hand above his eyes to shield them from the sun, as though to get a better look, “I would pick Ruby up from just over there, out of his sight, and I'm absolutely certain this was the house she came out of.”

He turned slightly away from the house, pointing down the street. “And that, is the wall he collared me on when I was having a smoke waiting, when he asked me about the pregnancy and I said th-” his voice trailed off when he turned back to see everyone giving him that same look again. They knew exactly what he had said by now.

“Right” Tommy called, and as though it was an unwritten rule the men cocked their guns in unison, checking their bullet count. He waved his hand, motioning the troops in a tight huddle so they could hear him as he expelled smoke into the air.

“We stick to the plan.” He began confidently, his eyes glossing over everyone in turn. “Simple. You hear any sort of struggle going on inside, you shoot. Have no mercy, they’ve carved our names into plenty of bullets, we will not be afraid to spray plenty bullets in their direction in retaliation. We’re not going to let those bullets fulfil their purpose. No one threatens us and gets away with it.”

“Yeah, we’re the Peaky fucking Blinders” Arthur spat, interrupting Tommy momentarily to jeer up the men, not letting them forget their status, their power, and lack of remorse. A chorus of murmurs came from the men as they agreed. Tommy nodded his head slightly, gesturing that Arthur's words were exactly what the men needed to remember. He then took a final long drag of his cigarette before throwing it over his shoulder in one swift movement, followed by him loading his gun.

“Protect each other, fight as if you were back on the front lines.” He gulped, momentarily regretting his choice of words as the look on the men’s faces changed dramatically. He stood up straighter, composing himself in the hope his men would do the same, “Spread out, and keep out of sight. We don’t know who these people are, and more importantly, we don’t know what they’re capable of. Be smart.” He paused for a moment, looking at each of his loyal men with gun in hand. His eyes then landing on Elouise whose scowl quickly turned into a soft smile as she looked at him knowingly, giving him the slight reassurance no one would of thought Thomas Shelby needed.

“Pol, you come with me.”

These were his final words, causing the crowd of gang members to disperse, surrounding the tall wooden house. Tommy and Polly walked side by side towards the steps that lead to the front door.

“I seriously hope you know what you’re doing Thomas, if this was to go wrong…” her voice trailed off as she considered the possible outcomes.

“Pol” Tommy stopped and turned to face her, his eyes just about visible under the shadows of his peaked cap, “just trust me, I've got it under control” He sighed now, beginning to get annoyed at her lack of faith in him. She sighed in return and simply nodded. They both turned to continue their walk, looking up in unison, their hearts in turn dropping.

He was all but a silhouette in the shadows of the dock, fixated in the same position, arms slightly stiff at his sides. He didn't move an inch, even when their eyes landed on him. They stopped dead in their tracks, the men surrounding the building began to look around anxiously, not understanding the reasoning for their abrupt stop as the figure stood out of their eye line.

Tommy pushed back his shoulders and stood up straight in order to look unfazed, show no fear. His emotionless face serving him well in this situation. However Polly’s was less convincing. Tommy heard her take in a deep breath beside him, breathing out slowly seconds later in an attempt to calm herself before finally speaking through gritted teeth, her words coming out as a hiss.

“Well, what now Thomas?”

Soulmate AU; in which a timer tattoo everyone is born with counts down to when you talk to your soulmate but vibrates and glows when you get closer proximity wise to them. Putting the tattoos together also causes sparks to fly, literally. 

Jace/Simon and Izzy/Maia

There were very few things that everyone had in common in the world. The majority, mundanes, were just that- boring and run of the mill. They all had the same problems; cheating, dropping out, addiction. Of course Nephilim and Downworlders also had their problems but they were slightly more serious problems, like they could die so easily.

At least that’s what Jace was thinking as he sat sipping black coffee and watching a mundane couple breakup at the local cafe; Java Jane’s. “Typical mundanes, taking their timers as suggestions and still trying to date everyone,” he thought to himself as Izzy arrived and sat down. “Has your timer started buzzing too?” He asked simply as he handed her her iced mocha, gesturing to both of their wrists which were now pulsing slowly and glowing slightly.

“Well it’s counting down but we need to get the drinks for everyone else, we can talk about it later; let’s go.” Izzy informed her brother as she headed to one of the baristas; a tall raven-haired boy who was clearly a vampire whilst Jace spoke to a small werewolf named Maia who had her afro in two little bunches. The shadowhunter was distracted from checking out the other woman when her wrist started pulsating more frequently now and the light got brighter. The timer had run down to zero and a quick glance at the blond next to her told her so had his. Now they just needed to figure out who's soulmate was whose.

“I’m sorry but my soulmate is CLEARLY Maia, from what I've heard about Simon from Clary, were completely incompatible. Nerdy unathletic boys in comparison to me, well there is no comparison and the angels wouldn’t put me with that. Now humoring losers? That’s your forte.” Jace laughed as he and Izzy walked back to the institute now, dodging out of the way of her kick with a smirk. “So predicta-oof.” the man teased, groaning in pain as he didn’t see the punch to his gut that time.

“Personally I think that it’s me that’s soulmates with Maia but I think we should have a date night with the pair and see what happens. I’ll ask Clary to invite them over for movies or something.” Izzy mused simply, heading over to speak to the red-head, handing her her latte and pulling her into her room to discuss.

“Izzy, what’s so important?” Clary asked with laughter, jaw dropping when she saw that the timer had run out. “Jace’s ran out too; we think it’s Simon and Maia but we were both talking to them at the same time so we have no idea who’s who.” The woman explained to her friend, who nodded and called Simon immediately.

“Working in a coffee shop will great, you got to meet so many interesting people. Not that we don’t already meet interesting people, I mean we are downworlders. Not that all downworlders are interesting but I’m used to interacting with mundanes. Not that that’s a-” The rambling Simon was cut off by Maia covering his mouth with a raised eyebrow.

“That nervous huh? Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you don’t bite anyone. Plus lots of shadowhunters hand gout there so really bad idea to break the accords; see? There’s… Jace and Isobel I think. Shut up and try not to get us fired on the first day.” the werewolf warned, putting her apron on and sliding behind the counter, double checking that the area was clean as Izzy and Jace made their way over to the till, raising an eyebrow when her wrist started pulsing, hiding it behind her back as Jace ordered, her wrist glowing brightly now. As soon as the pair had been served, the young vampire started his usual curious tirade: “Did your wrist glow two? Not that mine did but if it did does that mean that Isobel’s my soulmate? Not saying that she is of course, but I’m not attracted to Jace. I mean he is attractive but the brooding… overly masculine with a feminine face look is out. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Plus, Isobel’s closer to Clary so it just-”

“Oh my god do you ever shut up?! Call Clary and we’ll go to the cinema or something to figure out who’s who. Though you're both always on the same wavelength so i bet she's calling you now.” Maia teased with a laugh, laughing louder when Clary started calling the dark haired boy.

“Oh hey fray, we were just talking about you. Not in a bad way! Just that-” The man began only to be cut off.

“You two want to come over and figure out who your soulmate is, I get it. I’ve already told both of them to go to the boat bunker for 3 so… try and make it hospitable and tell me details tomorrow.” Clary laughed, rolling her eyes.

“Thanks Fray; you're the best.” Simon laughed, hanging up. “Looks like we find our soulmates tonight.” He informed the waiting woman with a happy smile.

“That nervous huh?” Alec asked as he and Clary watched Jace and Izzy get ready, laughing when Izzy messed up her lipstick and Jace cut himself shaving before going to help the pair.

“Shut up Alec, you’ve already met your soulmate and there was no confusion around it.” Jace grumbled as Alec rolled his eyes and sorted his parabatai’s hair.

“You think I wasn't nervous when I kissed Magnus at my ill advised wedding? According to Clary and Simon, I was ‘so far in the closet I was best friends with Mr Tumnus; whoever that is.” Alec countered, slapping Jace’s cheek playfully.before stepping away from him with a proud smirk. “Off you guys go! Only Clary left now!” He teased, flinching when Clary hit him in the stomach at that comment.

“Welcome guys! Mi casa es su casa. Though this is technically not mi casa. Maybe mi boathouse es su boathouse is better. I don’t know why we’ve never met, we all consider Clary a friend. Though I am her best friend. You can ha-”

“Oh my God who stuck him in fast- forward?!” Jace sighed dramatically, rolling his eyes.

“Oh, sorry I don’t have the natural urge to brood and insult people man; do you wanna go?!” Simon shot back, stepping closer to the man.

“I don't like you.” The shadowhunter snapped, pointing at the vampire and doing his best to ignore the pulsing in his wrist.

“When you DRAMA QUEENS are done, we’ve already figured out who’s whose soulmate.” Maia laughed, pulling the men apart now and showing them as Izzy and her touched timers, the glows grew until small sparks flew. “Now, as soon as they form a little heart in the air, we’re in business.”

Izzy piped up now; “Which means…” Only to be cut off by Simon.

“No nononono. My soulmate is NOT a giant gymrat who hates my guts; there's clearly a mistake.” The man stammered, starting to pace now. Sighing theatrically, Jace grabbed the man to stop him. “Listen Einstein, We’re clearly soulmates so just… try and woo me or some shit. Don’t ramble or I’ll break your nose.” he warned simply, letting go of the vampire after he had calmed down.

“Well.. I don't know what you know about music but apparently you're not too bad so we can play some music together?” Simon suggested, heading over to his guitar; Jace rolling his eyes but nodding and following, messing around with the beatbox machine absentmindedly now and easily making a catchy beat.

“That help you when you’re chasing down downworlders huh?” the vampire teased, strumming the guitar and looking up at the blond with a cheeky, infectious smile, Jace smiling back unwillingly and chuckling.

“Let’s hear what you can do then.” He mused, glancing over at Maia and Izzy who had gone straight to kissing, as he sat down. On Simon's bed. Standing up with a start, he just stood listening to the man play and sing, eventually sitting back on Simon’s bed next to the vampire with a smile. “Does that count as a serenade?” He teased softly, glancing down at his lips subtly.

“No. Well I mean technically yes it does because it was written as a serenade but it wasn't specifically written for you. I mean if it worked for you that’s great too but the original purpose was-” Simon rambled, tapping gently on his guitar as he explained and gasping softly when Jace leaned forward to kiss him softly before pulling back with a smile.

“Maybe that’ll shut you up.” He smirked, raising an eyebrow.

“I-I- Well yeah it would but you taste like coffee and I just want you to know that.” The man stammered, The shadowhunter rolling his eyes and tangling his hand in the boy’s raven hair and kissing him again.

“So.. how did you know that the spark thing was gonna work?” Izzy asked Maia as the pair sat on the sofa, Just talking as the boys disappeared.

“The truth?” She asked, laughing when the runed girl nodded vigorously before continuing, “I didn’t have a fucking clue until like an hour ago and even then I was playing on a hunch.” She laughed, shrugging.

“What hunch was that?” she asked softly, moving closer to Maia as she bit her lip teasingly as she waited for a response. The werewolf leaned closer till their faces were inches apart before telling the woman. “I noticed you checking me out whilst I was checking you out.” she whispered, leaning in for a kiss.

When it came down to it, they were all the same no matter your race; Slightly coffee addicted individuals who had no idea what they were doing till they met their soulmates. Now they all had a double the reason to love Java Jane’s; not just for the drinks but those addictive coffee flavoured kisses.

I like holding stuff in my palm? Sometimes, I hold paper napkin, menthol salt or keys for hours. 

I keep textbook under my pillow the night before exams. 

I will dress extra nice when I need my luck. I won’t go to final exams or do final presentations look like death. I believe lady luck prefers me look nice XD

I rather like my both my given name and nickname! Both are quite unique <3 I wouldn’t change it but if it were too hard for a foreigner to pronounce then… might choose something similar. Nachisa for Japanese and Natasha for Western folks?

What is the dumbest way you’ve been injured?

LOTS…. ohhh I recalled 2 and both almost killed me. I can’t decide which is the dumbest though…

On my 6th year-old birthday, my older sister, cousins and I were having a party. After cake we decided to play a game. I don’t know what it’s called in English but the game is a lot like tag but ‘it’ has their eyes tied by a piece of cloth. I was a ‘it’ in that round. I heard some noise from one side so I lunged there…. only to find out that the door wasn’t closed and I fell down to the bottom of stairs. Ughh it hurt so bad :(

I can’t remember how old I was in this one but still very young. We’re in a pool and my sister teased me until I got really flustered and mad. I stepped out of the pool and out of my floating ring. I was going to throw the floating ring at my sister out of sheer madness but my body passed through the ring like a fucking dolphin and fell into the pool instead. I can’t swim…. my sister also can’t swim…. luckily, one of my older cousin was there to save my sorry ass.

Ever cried of happiness? Care to share?

Can’t recall any …. why I’m like this lol I rarely got that emotional… I might had cried one time that I remember how lucky I am to be me, surrounded with lovely family and people.

Who’s your hero, fictional or otherwise?

Dobby and Hagrid. They’re underrated characters but got a really big and kind heart. 

I really love Hargrid from the start. He’s big and clumsy but really kind. He cried and wanted to say goodbye to a baby that he didn’t even know. What broke my heart is the last book when he thought Harry was dead though. 

The only death that made me cried like a baby is Dobby’s death. I shredded few tears for other characters but Dobby’s hit me the most. He always try to help Harry. He really did in the end. *sobs*

this movie is the Official™ best harry potter movie. director alfonso cuaron (who would later go on to win a best director oscar for gravity) completely elevated the series from chris columbus’ movies that were obviously aimed towards children. cuaron took the source material seriously and gave us a well-crafted, well-directed, and pretty faithful harry potter movie. PoA isnt my fave book – not even close to my fave actually but this is both the best movie cinematically and the adaptation that is most enjoyable to watch over and over and over again. there are some sticky moments tho: dan’s acting in the infamous “HE WAS THEIR FRIEND!!!!” scene, the opening scene not making any sense .. at all…,  the character of dumbledore just… in general, the introduction of ron as a vehicle solely for comic relief, and the dropping of wizarding robes at hogwarts. listen, i can complain ab small things from every hp movie for HOURS but overall this movie is just FANTASTIC!! the score!!!!!!!!!! the only movie where they got harrys hair right!!!!! and definetly has the best ending of any harry potter movie. if u wanna know more ab why this movie is awesome check out this video essay which goes in depth about cuaron’s directoral style in this movie.

2. HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE

i feel like this is such an underrated hp movie tbh. goblet of fire is such an important book because it sets up the conflict for the rest of the series w voldemort’s return. and thats the main reason this movie gets my #2 spot tbh: the graveyard scene at the end of the movie. this movie isn’t perfect always, but the graveyard scene is a pivotal moment in the series and imo they hit it out of the park in this movie. they didn’t edit the scene to shorten it for time – they have harry and voldemorts first interaction be as tense and lengthy as it is in the books. the scene where voldemort comes out of the cauldron and rubs his head… it gives me chills every time. i think the dark parts of this movie is where it really shines – the opening with frank for example. it makes me SO happy that they opened the movie the same way they do in the book. they do a pretty good job w the character of moody and with showing harrys feelings of isolation and general angst. and yes, everyone has shitty hair in this movie but what can u do. i also take offense w the treatment of fleur in this movie… in fact whose idea was it to make beauxbatons an all female school? and durmstrang all male?? because that was a fucking dumb idea noah fence. another thing that i hate about this movie is the “conversation” between dumbledore and harry at the end of the movie – if you can even call it that. the talk they have in his office in the books is integral to the plot going forward and it is so shitty that they just had like a .2 second scene instead. actually, dumbledore is just horrible throughout this whole movie. another infamous moment w the “DIDYA PUT UR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE!?!??!?!” i remember that michael gambon (dumbledore) just refused to read the books ever and they completely missed the mark on dumbledore. i actually know of a lot of hp fans who hate this movie but i

3. HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE

i know this is a lot of people’s fave or second fave harry potter movie, but i just couldnt give it that #2 spot. its tough because hbp is my 2nd favorite book behind ootp and it means so much to me and there are just some things the movie royally fucks up that i cannot give it so much praise even though, overall it is a good movie. simply put: if i hadn’t read the books this might be my #1 or #2 movie. but alas i have so i get to judge it harshly. lets start out with what the movie does well: this movie does a gREAT job of being a coming-of-age film. we really get a sense of the characters growing up and being teens in this movie and its great and hilarious at some points. this movie also does the best job with the harry/dumbledore relationship. michael gambon stretches himself to be closer to the soft and omniscient dumbledore from the books. he doesnt exactly get there for me but its closer than in any other film with him. they do a good job with the pensive stuff and the introduction of horcruxes, and with the climax of dumledore’s death. the reemergence of quidditch is lovely. HOWEVER, this biggest most irksome thing that i just cannot get over in this movie is the fucking MESS that is harry and ginnys relationship. one of my absolute favorite parts of the book is their relationship – the way harry pines for her and the way they get together (”several sunlit days”!) and they just completely throw all of that in the trash along with ginny’s character. i also dont love how hermione is portrayed in this movie. the way they did her and ron’s relationship is just… not great. in the books its so obvious that they belong together but in the movies its like theyre both just stupid. this movie does a fantastic job of balancing comedy – giving us some of the funniest scenes in an y harry potter movie – with the darkness and threat of voldemort. the way the did the whole sequence in the cave is great. the scene where the death eaters attack the burrow is stupid and unnecessary however. and while i think they do a great job like telling the story in this movie, they dont really go deeper into harrys psyche which is one of my favorite parts of the book – harry realizing and accepting his role as the savior of the wizarding world. the prophecy is kind of ignored in the movies which is … lame but we also miss out of some of my favorite book moments: harry understanding why his parents died and vowing to fight voldemort w his last breath, harry flipping out when he learns that snape is the one who overheard the prophecy, harry fighting scrimgeour. overall, this is a fun movie to watch and it isn’t half bad, but it couldve been so much more in my opinion. 

4. HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE

the original!!!!!!!!!! i rewatched this recently and this is ?? such a solid movie?? most of the credit for this being a good movie goes to jkr for writing a great book, but still they coudlve easily fucked up this movie and then there wouldn’t be a franchise!!!!! so i have to give it a lot of credit. it does a wonderful job of introducing us to the wizarding world, giving us our main characters, and giving us hOGWARTS. the pacing of the movie is great, the kids are soo soosososo cute in it i cant even stand it!!!!! the comedic beats hit, the emotional beats hit. the one beef i have with this movie is that they cast like 40 yr olds to be james and lily in the mirror of erised and they are not!!!!! that old !!!!!!! also they do a great job w effects considering when it was made. watching this movie is like being held by a warm blanket of childhood memories and i love it so much. 

5. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 

im sure some of you are surprised to see this movie so far down on my list but guess what this movie fucking infuriates me!!!!! let me just start by saying that the majority of this film is actually really good. but the small percentage of the movie that isnt good RUINS THE WHOLE THING FOR ME!!!!!! ill start with the good tho: the gringots sequences. badass. the cinematography in this movie is just like 5x better than most of the series so well done them. snape’s memories sequence is just like really fucking good okay ill give them that like the moment harry looks up after emerging from the pensive knowing he has to die GIVES ME CHILLS. voldemort killing harry in the forest. this is well shot and executed scene. harry being dead and talking w dumbledore is good too one of the only times michael gambon like acts so. the courtyard apocalypse scene. hermione’s “ill go with you”. while i object to this scene being in the movie that line is [gets choked up and cant continue]. like i said the majority of the movie is good, great even. BUT THEY FUCK UP SOME OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!!!!!! lets start slow: ariana dumbledore. bet u forgot she was in this movie. dont worry the writers did too. why did they make harry some kind of horcrux gps???? no???? WHY DOES HOGWARTS RANDOMLY HAVE A BOATHOUSE THAT WE’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE?? AND WHY DID SNAPE DIE THERE?? ron and hermiones kiss in the chamber of secrets was stupid and doesnt compare to the moment in the books. dont even get me stARTED on harry and ginny. THEM NOT MENTIONING THAT REMUS AND TONKS ARE MARRIED/HAVE A KID UNTIL LUPIN IS DEAD RIP. those things bother me but nothing compares to the fucking mess that is everything after harry comes back to life. good god its the fucking most important act in the entire series… and it is a complete disaster in my opinion. just so many?? horrible?? decisions?? starting with voldemorts speech after harry is “dead”.. why did he hug draco. why. also i dont get nevilles speech at all that was stupid. the reveal that harry was alive is stupid. the fact that they dont kill the snake and have it be like this ooo will they kill the snake in time thing is STUPID. voldemort wrapping harry up in his robes?????? why???? voldemort and harry jumping off a building together???? WHY???? voldemort and harry melding faces????? WHY?????!?!?!?!?!??!?! it just doesnt make any sort of logical sense and its not so exciting to watch. why wouldnt voldemort just KILL HARRY ANY OF THOSE TIMES??? iT DOESNT MAKE SENSE?? i fukcinNNGNNG hate it im sorry. and the final like showdown between them is just not as good as it is in the books??? like them circling each other in the great hall with everyone watching as dawn breaks >> them crawling through rubble outside on a bridge. also it REALLY FUCKING IRKS ME THAT VOLDEMORT LIKE DISINTEGRATES INTO PAPER WHEN HE DIES LIKE. that completely undoes a lot of what the books are saying and like lessens the impact of his death imo. the whole point is that he was trying to be like this immortal god but in the end he died just like everyone else he was HUMAN. they also do that w bellatrix like when molly kills her she like ?? explodes?? it just lessens their deaths i think. and the lack of closure with the elder wand like harry just fucking throwing it into the distance is DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugg ugg ugg. i know my expectations were high and i know its a tough task to finish the series buT they really let me down with the FUCKING CLIMAX OF THE SERIES. like guys it was epic enough in the books u dont need to add this nonsense!!! jfc!!!!

6. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 1   

noah fence this movie is just really unenjoyable to watch. its a tough movie to make bc its like 95% just setting up for what happens in part two, but i think they def couldve done a wayyy better job in some areas. one of the great things ab deathly hallows the book is harrys psyche and how angry he is with dumbledore, how he is trying to figure out these clues, his desperation, his fascination with the hallows etc. they really underplayed harrys anger with dumbledore imo giving it just one or two scenes and a handful of moments when i think it couldve been such an interesting emotional core of the movie. they do a good job showing the war and having it be like war movie and being isolated. but they struggle with pace in this one a LOT. however two sequences really stand out to me as Good: 1. bathilda bagshot’s house. in the theater the snake was TERRIFYING waiting for it to jump out that was a good action sequence. 2. the tale of the three brothers. beautiful animation. the ron/hermione conflict with couldve been another emotional center of the movie is glossed over in my opinion (maybe this has something to do w the fact that emma watson can not act like she is enraged???). overall meh tho. i dont go to rewatch this one very often. 

7. HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS

this movie is………….. not great. again it relies totally and completely on jkrs work for any of the good parts of this movie and considering that this may be my least favorite book well…. the camera work in this movie is just bad honestly like they just plop the camera in one spot and film the scene???? gilderoy lockhart is HILARIOUS in this movie however a real gem. there are some good sequences and i love this movie but there are also lots and lots of cringey moments. 

8. HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX 

i debated whether i hate this movie or CoS more but ultimately decided on this one because this movie makes me so angry and CoS is just like moderately not great. [deep breath] ok guys heres the thing: OOTP is my favorite harry potter book. and this movie takes exactly zero (0) of my favorite things about the book and does them in the film. the tone of this movie is angst and suffering but not even in a good way. i love LOVE the angst in the book because it is justified it is raw it is harry working through his feelings and being attacked from every side. the movie just communicates…. sad. theyre just like “oh lets uh have this be blue toned… nice.” they do not go deeper than the plot of OOTP, just the events that happen. they dont get into the story, the message, the POINT OF THE BOOK!!!!!!!!! were they afraid to have people yell in this movie??? like ??? they have mrs figg be soft spoken and just like murmur to harry and uncle vernon and aunt petunia dont really go in at harry like its all very tame?? and then THEY MISS OUT ON HARRY DRAGGING RON AND HERMIONE SO HARD WHEN HE GETS TO THE BURROW!!!!! an iconique scene that instead harry just like says some stuff passive aggressively and then fred and george come and are like “we thought we heard u yelling harry” like how??? he was just speaking at a normal voice??? the movie skips out on the fascinating moments with the order at grimmold place and with ginny and the weasleys to instead give us sirius naked in some weird room at the train station and harry dreaming about voldemort in a suit??? why????????? generally they do a good job with the umbridge stuff but again fail to communicate the deeper meaning of what the fuck is happening like the mINISTRY OF MAGIC IS DENYING THIS!! and what does that do to harry?? and his angst?? some of the stuff with the DA is good but some of it is… not. this movie really fails when they try to incorporate comic relief. it doesnt land great and it just makes me think about how much time we are wasting on this when we could be doing other things. FOR EXAMPLE GRAWP????? GRAWP.  i hate the dumbledore stuff in this movie. like. their relationship isnt set up enough in the previous movies to understand how hurt harry is by dumbledore. instead we get like half-assed scenes like when harry just like calls “sir” to dumbledore but he walks away fast like. really?? THE WAY THEY DID SNAPES’ WORST MEMORY [SCREAMS FOR 1200 YEARS]. LAZY! AS! SHIT! GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD GOD WHAT A NIGHTMARE WHAT A TOTAL DISASTER MY GOODDDddddddd AND THEN ITS LIKE NEVER EVEN ADDRESSED AGAIN???? JESUS CHRIST I SWEAR TO GOD THIS MOVIE IS A MESS. the break into the ministry is okay… its starts the david yates trend of like not saying spells while ur dueling and just having like bright lights come from ur wand which i HATE and also the stupid trend of death eaters apparating with black smoke which i HATE. i have mixed feelings about “nice one james.” sirius’s death is GOOD like the way they have it silent with harry like screaming i like that they did a good job a+. however dumledore and voldemorts fight is……….. strange and just not as good as in the books. also when voldemort possesses harry and harry like has a chat w him?? DUMB. and that leads me to the greatest sin of all…… the reason this movie gets the last ranking… THE LACK OF HARRY AND DUMBLEDORE’S TALK AFTER SIRIUS’S DEATH. my absolute favorite moment in the books. unparalleled. some of the best writing i have ever seen in my life. JUST COMPLETELY GONE. IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY MENTION LIKE THE PROPHECY IN THE MOST FUCKING LAZY WAY EVER IN LIKE HALF OF A SCENE THAT LASTS 1 MINUTE. AND JUST SHOW SOME LAME ASS NEWSPAPER MONTAGE WHICH IS SOOOOOO LAZYYY OH MY GOOOOOODDDDDDDDD. we get NO emotional resolution for harry and dumbledore. we get NO resolution for harry and sirius. its like these events that happen have ZERO consequences. THE PROPHECY!!!! THAT IS THE CENTRAL PART OF THE STORY MY GOD!!! harry finds out he is THE CHOSEN ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST CUT OUT OF THE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT NO WE NEED A SCENE WHERE FILCH GETS BOILS!!!!!!!!! like harry after sirius’s death is so critical like him asking nick if sirius can come back…. harry smashing the mirror… you get none of that emotional depth, that grieving. the ending of the movie is also stupid. also why tf is harry wearing a BLAZER????? god i hate this movie.

ok so, jimin’s power - I’M ACTUALLY SO GLAD YOU ASKED, because it’s a part of the story that almost no one’s asked about even though it’s kind of a big deal for jimin. which is….jimin doesn’t have a power lmaO. almost everyone in that au has superpowers; its the norm to have one, but fic!jimin just..doesn’t. it’s something he’s probably felt odd about growing up; in his growing years he probably tended to feel like he had to work extra hard to be sort of special or noticed and stuff T-T that’s also part of the reason he originally was drawn to jeongguk in school after the dictionary incident - by that age he’d kind of started to guess that he wasn’t going to develop a power, since it’s really rare for it to develop any later than teenage years, and jeongguk was the first person he’d known to not like his own power ;; so to jimin it was kind of eye-opening to realise that the power he’d always been upset about not having could possibly bring harm as well as good ahjsbdsjhd..so yeAH!! im so so glad you asked this omdfd i feel like..im finally doing fic!jimin justice in telling his unwritten story T–T

and MY FAVOURITE BOOKS. omfg there’s so so many im just going to list as many as i can think of off the top of my head:

1. The Raw Shark Texts (by Steven Hall)

this one is one of my all time favourites, and a HUGE huge huge inspiration in writing that’s left an impact on me for a really long time ;; IT’S SO UNDERRATED but it’s super gripping and interesting and experimentally fresh, and has really well-written themes of like love and loss and unfaithful memories and losing memories and a lot of cool internal/mental things like that! the ending is super cool to me, too ;;; the writing style is like nothing ive ever really seen anywhere else and is just super compelling in the way the author selects and arranges certain simple words in un-simple ways? and there are many parts of this book that are ambiguous in what exactly happened; that’s exactly why i love it? idk i jsut - i get super super excited about this book pleasE READ IT 

2. The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake (by Aimee Bender)

actually, i have loved about every single thing by aimee bender that i’ve read, but this is the only novel of hers ive read so far so i’ll go with that hjsbdjhsf…her short story collections are super lovely too, some of my favourite short stories by her are Job’s Jobs, Appleless, Death Watch, Motherfucker, I Will Pick Out Your Ribs (from My Teeth), and Faces. Aimee Bender is really one of my favourite authors ever, she has a really distinctive style and flavour thats creative and poetic and charmingly matter-of-fact all at once, that makes the most mundane stuff seem magical and the most magical stuff seem mundane. like. idk. IM REALLY IN LOVE with her writing ;;;;; ahdsbfjhbfds please check her out if you can!!!

3. A Wrinkle in Time & its sequels (by Madeleine L’Engle)

this whole series is just..really lovely in its ideas and hopeful and really gave me a huge sense of wonder the first time i read it? and there are some scenes in it that were just so beautifully magical (even though it’s actually sci-fi) and moving that i’ve never forgotten them to this day ;___; even though i first read it when i was 11 lmaO. but really, this is so soso osos o lovely idk if youve ever read it but i hope you have/get to read it some day abfdf

4. The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo

jhasgfjhs kate dicamillo is another of my all time favourite writers, i grew up hunting library shelves for her name lmao her writing is just..really beautiful in its ideology and style? there’s something very pure and innocent and whimsical and so so poetic about the things she writes and the way she tells stories, i always tend to read her stuff in one sitting bc it’s just so hard to stop ;;; i love her work so so much 

5. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

i actually…can’t remember the exact story of this anymore BUT I DO remember that when i read it, i was completely blown away by the power of the writing style? bradbury’s writing is just…really distinctive in a heavier kind of way? like it’s poetic but kind of grips you around the heart idK im not sure how to explain it. i’m always stunned at the way he chooses his words and crafted his world in this book ajhsfbjd i love it sooo much ;;; i want to reread soon sdhfds

6. The Monstrumologist series (by Rick Yancey)

THIS ONE IS SO UNDERRATED i love it omg..it’s more gory and dark than most the things ive mentioned but the gore never feels like..needless? idk. i just love it so much and the kinds of ideas like the blurring of lines between man and monster, as well as the changing relationships of growing up - the book series just handles that so so well and with a really exciting gripping plot too ahdgsd i love it i love iiit. my fav book in the series is probably the lsle of Blood; there’s a line in there about a plate that haunTS ME ALWAYS 

7. Skellig and Kit’s Wilderness by David Almond

david almond is another writer i grew up reading ahhHH it’s honestly been too long for me to exactly remember what i loved about these 2 books - BUT I LOVE THEM

8. The Seas by Samantha Hunt

i actually am reading this book literally right now, so i havent reached the ending and im not sure if ill still love it as much as i currently do by that point, but so far i definitely am loving it SO much!! the writing and metaphors and characterisation are so damn beautiful and interesting and the writer has a lovely flow and really fresh way of arranging words and delivering ideas ;; it’s just really prettily and freshly and creatively written ;A; plus, i have this…Thing for the ocean so i love that a central part of this book is about the sea ahhH 

9. Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami 

I WISH I HAD MORE HARUKI MURAKAMI THINGS TO TALK ABOUT but this is the only of his books ive found so far - and I LOVE IT TO DEATH. i actually read norwegian wood and the particular sadness of lemon cake in the time period when i wrote my latest fic (thought you knew) and they really ;;; damn, a double whammy of inspiration omfg. norwegian wood is just…really really interesting and deep and real without being too heavy-hearted in the way it talks about things like relationships, devotion, alienation and loss? idk, it’s just- i love it so so so much, especially the ending paragraph ahhhh

10. Cathedral and A Small, Good Thing (by Raymond Carver)

THESE ARE TECHNICALLY SHORT STORIES, not books. but i just love them so much i have to mention them ;;; i honestly love raymond carver and his way of writing a lot, he just..he says so much with so little? he’s a huge inspiration i look up to like crazy especially when it comes to crafting dialogue ahhh. i also really love his poem Hummingbird!

11. The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino

idek where to start with this one..THE PLOT IS JUST. FUCKING BRILLIANT and it’s a really interesting take on the idea of devotion, especially devotion to..um..unhealthy kinds of levels? idk. it’s just….so well thought through and super cool i was Mind Blown™ when i read it kasjndskdf

12. Bunker 10 by J.A. Henderson

this is another one in team BLEW MY FUCKIGN MIND ahhh ;; i read it super super long ago but the plot is so so good? it’s the kind that’s a bit confusing at first, but then everything gets revealed and i’m completely shook and eye-opened and want to read it again with the new knowledge, you know what i mean? just- i cant remember what the writing style was like but the PLOT and setting was soo so so cool T—T

I was hit by a woman in a parking lot. In Texas where I live, certain parking lots are no fault zones if they are private property. I was in one of these no fault zones. I was uninsured at the time. She had Uninsured Motorist Protection as part of her insurance policy. I suffered no damages to my vehicle or person. She suffered $1500 worth of vehicular damage. Her insurance company paid for her damages. I was backing out of a parking space and she came flying around the corner and messed up the entire passenger door of her car on my rear bumper. Like I said I received no damage to my vehicle since I was the one barely moving. She called the police immediately after this minor accident took place. I was not cited on the ticket I received for any accident, only for no insurance. The officer informed me verbally that the accident was my fault only because she had the right of way but that there was nothing they could do about it because of the no fault zone policy. Anyway, now her insurance company is coming after me to collect payment of the $1500 they paid for her damages. I have not agreed to pay this amount because it was a no fault zone and I don't feel I should pay for it. She should not have been going that fast in a busy parking lot with a car full of kids. Although the unofficial technicality states that I was at fault, legally no one was at fault. Her insurance company is also threatening to have my license suspended if I do not pay the amount specified. I did not think that they, as a private company, had the power to have that happen. Two days ago, I was involved in a car accident. Allow me to explain what happened. I was stopping at a stop sign, and as I put my foot on the brake, there was some black ice, and my car slid through the stop sign, straight into the intersection, where a woman hit me in the rear end of my car, which spun my car around, making my tap the back of her car as well. My car was barely left with a dent, and driving away from the scene, my car was just fine. However, when I went to drive it this morning, I noticed something was up with the back end. Whenever I hit a bump, it feels like the back end backs up, and fishtails away from the front of the car. Can you tell me what's up with my car, and how much it would be to fix whatever it is? have a few issues I could really use some help with. The family car that I have been driving wasn't in my name but I was still covered on the insurance until one day I hit a mailbox with the passenger side mirror. 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Taekwondo Legend Jhoon Rhee

For decades, we’ve known Jhoon Rhee as the father of taekwondo in America. Without digging too deep into our memories, most of us could tell you that the master is based in Washington, D.C., and that he’s trained elected officials on Capitol Hill for years. Some may also know that Jhoon Rhee was instrumental in the development of martial arts sparring gear back in the 1970s and that in 1983 he was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame as Man of the Year. In martial arts circles, he’s as famous as anyone can be.

Ironically, few people — in America or his native South Korea — know much about Jhoon Rhee other than the aforementioned points. To remedy that, I wrote this article. It presents 10 fun and fascinating facts about taekwondo’s best-known practitioner.

1 RHEE, LEE AND ALI

In 1964, Rhee met Bruce Lee at Ed Parker’s International Karate Championship in Long Beach, California. The two became friends and frequently discussed the martial arts, and Rhee wound up teaching a few taekwondo kicks to Bruce Lee.

A number of people vehemently deny that, and if you’re one of them, consider the following: Bruce Lee’s early demonstrations centered on hand techniques that utilized speed and power. His prowess in the physical pursuits stemmed from his experience as a dancer, boxer and wing chun practitioner — none of which was oriented toward kicking. When Lee rose to fame as a kung fu actor, it was well after his collaboration with Rhee had begun.

Now take a look at a Jhoon Rhee side kick — any photo from one of his early taekwondo books or articles will do. Compare that to film footage of Bruce Lee doing a side kick. The techniques are nearly identical.

Jhoon Rhee is also credited with teaching Muhammad Ali the “accu-punch,” a fact that Ali stood behind. The accu-punch is described as a blow that’s done instantly when no thought is given to it. It’s launched as soon as an opponent presents an opening. Ali said he used the punch in 1975 to knock out U.K. heavyweight champ Richard Dunn in one minute 30 seconds. Pretty cool — but wait a minute. Rhee credits Bruce Lee with having taught him more effective hand techniques that didn’t telegraph one’s intent. So maybe it’s more accurate to say Lee taught the punch to Ali through Rhee.

2 THE BIG SCREEN

In the 1973 Raymond Chow flick When Taekwondo Strikes, Jhoon Rhee had a role. The setting was one he was all too familiar with: the Japanese occupation of Korea. Rhee demo’d his taekwondo skills on the big screen while portraying a leader of the resistance. He looked forward to more opportunities in showbiz, but Bruce Lee passed away around the time the movie hit the theaters.

That, coupled with the amount of time Rhee was required to be away from his family and his martial arts schools, left a sour taste in his mouth. It ended up being his first and last film.

3 FROM KARATE MAN TO FATHER OF TAEKWONDO

When Jhoon Rhee began teaching the martial arts while studying engineering in Texas in the late 1950s, he advertised his program as karate. Occasionally, he’d use the name tang soo do to denote the style of karate he taught. Using the word “karate” was a wise move because Americans were familiar with it. Virtually no one had heard of taekwondo.

In 1960, Gen. Choi Hong-hi paid a visit to the Texas-based Jhoon Rhee Karate Club. Choi, the founder of the oh do kwan, one of the original five kwan that emerged after Japanese colonial rule, encouraged Rhee to use the new Korean term. Calling it “taekwondo” evoked a sense of freedom and independence, as well as respect for the Korean homeland. Rhee agreed.

The road wasn’t an easy one to follow, but Rhee proved he was more than up to the challenge. His decision to go with the new name made him the United States’ first taekwondo instructor.

4 BORN TO FAIL

Jhoon Rhee possessed a reverse punch and roundhouse kick that were second to none. He could bust boards with either technique. Combine that taekwondo prowess with his strength, balance and flexibility, and you can see that he was an exemplary athlete.

However, it wasn’t always that way. When he was a child, no one thought he’d amount to much physically. “I was the smallest, weakest, most uncoordinated kid in school,” Rhee says. “When I was 6, a 5-year-old girl beat me up. When we ran track, I was always last. No one expected me to succeed in athletics.”

These are a few of the books Jhoon Rhee has written.

5 TAEKWONDO GODFATHER

Once Jhoon Rhee concluded his studies in Texas, he moved to Washington, D.C. “When I came to Washington in 1962, I wrote many letters to ambassadors telling them to pay attention to their children’s education,” he says. “I told them, ‘If your children come to my school, I guarantee they will make A’s and B’s.’ Some asked, ‘How can you do that?’ I said, ‘If they don’t, they won’t make black belt.’ They immediately began enrolling their kids.

“After a few years, they saw the results. As the various ambassadors’ tenure expired, they had to return to their homelands. Many asked me to share my instructors and teach them in their countries. I didn’t have enough instructors to go around, so I introduced them to my classmates from the 1940s, several of whom traveled to their countries to teach. These instructors would then introduce taekwondo to neighboring countries. The training of ambassadors’ family members would happen again and again as they came and went from Washington.”

The result: More than 179 countries now have access to taekwondo instruction, which is why it was accepted into the Olympics.

6 TEACHER OF CONGRESS

Jhoon Rhee has taught more than 350 U.S. senators and representatives. Rep. Bob Livingston (R-Louisiana), Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Illinois) and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-New York) are just a few of those who’ve made it to black belt. Other notable students include former Vice President Joe Biden, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-California) and former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Georgia).

How did Rhee manage to corral so many Congress critters? First, his home base is D.C., a community to which he’s remained committed for years. Second, he endeavors to bring trust, loyalty and honesty to all his relationships. Third, he espouses a philosophy that holds that taking action makes good things happen.

“America has really helped Korea, and I am so grateful for this,” Rhee says. “More than 34,000 young people sacrificed their lives for a country they never heard of and people they never met — it’s hard to imagine. Then the Americans helped rebuild Korea’s economy into what it is today.”

Rhee is repulsed when modern Koreans talk negatively about the United States or shout things like “Yankee, go home!” He recalls a time not too long ago when he reminded Koreans of the generosity of Americans:

“During Korea’s last two administrations, there were communists occupying the president’s office. People in the administrations were carefully trying to influence everybody to be anti-American. Five years ago, I went there to give a speech to 300 masters. I said: ‘I heard America is really unpopular now. I want to see how many of you think America is bad.’ Fifty percent raised their hands. I continued my speech, and after I got through with them, I said, ‘If I got you a green card and a one-way ticket, how many of you would come to the U.S. and live?’ One hundred percent raised their hands.”

8 AT THE UNITED NATIONS

On April 10, 2007, Jhoon Rhee addressed an assembly of world leaders at the United Nations and gave one of the most moving speeches of all time. Its title was “Mending Our Troubled World With Martial Arts Philosophy of Action.”

He spoke about the need for a vision, arguing that vision is the source of inspiration for reconstructing society. He recalled an answer Helen Keller gave when she was asked what could be more difficult than living without sight. The blind woman said, “Sight without vision.”

Rhee also spoke about education. He outlined his golden rules of teaching: Lead by example and never fail to correct students’ mistakes with a smile — not until they learn but until they develop a habit or skill. He also explained his famous seven qualities of a champion, which apply as much to business and personal relationships as they do to the martial arts: patience, speed, timing, power, balance, flexibility and good posture.

9 TAEKWONDO TRIUMPHS IN RUSSIA

On January 9, 1991, Jhoon Rhee began 11 days of seminars in Moscow. He taught for 18 hours a day, obviously with little rest or free time. On the final day, he sat down with 87 martial artists and conducted a 15-hour question-and-answer session. (Rhee answered every question presented to him, including the old standby: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? He said, “The egg, of course.”)

By the end of the event, the attendees were so inspired that they all changed the names of their schools to Jhoon Rhee Taekwondo.

10 PRESIDENTIAL TESTIMONIAL

Jhoon Rhee’s good deeds have garnered him glowing praise from none other than former President George H.W. Bush:

“I’ve known Master Rhee as a leader, a great volunteer and an expert [at taekwondo] since the ’60s. I was elected to Congress at the end of 1966, and it was shortly thereafter that I met him. Master Rhee was teaching a bunch of congressmen, and he did a great job at it. We call him ‘Master Rhee’ because he is at the top of his field here. He brought this marvelous martial art to the United States of America. He’s taught members of Congress [and] has helped children on a volunteer basis and otherwise, too. It’s a great discipline, good exercise. He’s done a lot for our country.”
